Good morning, girlies. It's The Toast. It's Jackson Claude, and we're your hosts. It's your favorite show, the fast five things you need to know. We'll start your day off swirly, It's The Toast.

00:00:22

They sound amazing.

00:00:24

Welcome back to The Toast, and happy Monday. Hope everybody had a great weekend that was both restorative and...

00:00:32

Pardelicious, definition.

00:00:33

When in doubt, just say Pardelicious.

00:00:36

When in doubt, Pardee.

00:00:38

Yeah.

00:00:39

Well, my weekend was restorative and Pardee, and you want to know how I know that?

00:00:42

Let me guess. Let me guess. How do I know? I feel like you know you had a restorative weekend when you didn't get out of your pajamas. Is that what happened to you? You guys, we just recorded the first two minutes of this episode before we realized we were having an audio issue, so we fixed it and started over. But that was the conversation.

00:00:56

That was the conversation. She's like, I hope everyone had a restorative weekend. I was like, I didn't want to know how I did. And she racked her brain and she didn't know how. I couldn't think, possibly. And I said, because I didn't get out of my pajamas all weekend, and the ones that I wore to sleep. So I didn't leave my house. I got to be cozy with Maxi all weekend. On Saturday, everybody came to me. So things were bussing. We played Maj. We had a barbecue.

00:01:15

Oh, there was a little storm.

00:01:16

There was a storm. We did a little bit of everything. What about our barbecue?

00:01:19

The thing I like about spending time in Florida is that when it rains, I'm immediately transported back to summer camp because it's hot and it's raining, and you know it just needs to rain briefly so that it'll pass. But you get this It was a temporary moment of chilly, cozy vibe.

00:01:32

We had to bring in our moche table. It was coming through the screen- The wind.

00:01:35

It was crazy. It was coming sideways. No, it was crazy weather.

00:01:38

It was really cozy and sweet.

00:01:41

And then it's back 20 minutes later.

00:01:43

Then we were able to have our barbecue outside Inside.

00:01:45

I love barbecuing.

00:01:46

Then we were back inside waiting for the rain again. The barbecue was...

00:01:50

Let's talk about the food.

00:01:50

The food was really good. I don't know. The vibes were really good. No, the food was excellent.

00:01:56

Except for the hamburgers. So, yeah, Ben went to the grocery store, and Jackie's Publix was a bus in kosher section. So Ben just bought pre-made kosher Patty's.

00:02:04

The Allyship from Publix is so beautiful.

00:02:06

It can't go unnoticed, the Allyship. Jackie then saw what Ben got and was like, Listen, those pre-made Patty suck balls.

00:02:14

But we already had them. And he was like, No, it's just because you don't season them when you make them. Yeah, he did victim blame. I was like, Oh, okay. Yeah, maybe I'm just bad at them.

00:02:20

We get pre-made Patty's from our kosher grosser, and they're better than any Patty you can make yourself. Publix is not the kosher grocer. So we overestimated the Allyship. The burgers were disgusting and terrible, but everything else was amazing. The camaraderie was amazing. The hot dogs.

00:02:33

We should have just had hot dogs because that's all- The chicken. The chicken. Kern. French fried dairy.

00:02:37

I just love a barbecue. It's so much work, but it's actually not because- No, because I told Ben for this barbecue, whenever we have a barbecue, we can't agree on barbecue because it's so much work.

00:02:48

Olivia is prepping at her house, and Ben wants to start at 10: 00 AM and eat at 1: 00?

00:02:53

And he wants to start making dishes that he saw on Instagram. Did he tell you what he wanted to make, but he didn't make?

00:02:58

I pleased him the entire time that he was cooking, and we really kept it very tailored because I was like, Ben, we don't have to have a barbecue that makes us never want to have a barbecue again. We don't have to break up the family every time we have a barbecue.

00:03:11

And Ben really takes advantage of the family rule. If you cook, you don't have to clean, which is, I think, a fair rule, but I no longer think it's a fair rule because I think he takes advantage of it. So I was in charge of cleanup. But let me tell you, I was shocked, honey. I was in tears at how few... I was doing dishes. How few dishes there were. That's also barbecueing is so underrated. It's just the grill. There's no pots, there's no pans. You know, if you're a sweeper, highly recommend throwing a barbecue.

00:03:32

So it was a very successful, and I feel like we'll do one again because we all had a pleasant experience.

00:03:37

I don't know. Maybe we should just take the W because Ben was whispering about this dish he wanted to make. What is it? That he saw on Instagram and he wanted to try. It was like a barbecue themed. Ready? You're going to throw up a hot dog tartar.

00:03:50

That's disgusting. Yeah. And I love a hot dog.

00:03:54

But he saw a hot dog tartar. I was waiting for him to bring it out. I thought he made it.

00:03:57

Did you enjoy his egg plan and labna?

00:04:00

Oh, my God. Okay. So Ben and I went to the Farmer's Market on Saturday, which we vlogged, by the way. It's on the Patreon. People are saying it's the next Anthony Bourdain, whatever show he filmed.

00:04:08

Which one of you is Anthony, Ben?

00:04:10

Obviously. And I'm the rude producer, the bitchy PA. I was giving commentary the whole time. Ben and I both put on microphones, and I forgot that we were miced up the whole time. So I'm in the car, Ben's over here. I hear Ben talking to the lady from the produce stand. It was so funny. And so it was a small farmer's market. We had all the stands, and towards the end, honestly, I felt like a third wheel being there. Ben met the woman of his dreams. She was writing a stand called Mediterranean Delight. I feel like it actually wasn't Mediterranean Fair. It was like Persian. It was stuff I see on Shaz of the Valley, you know? Labne and Baba Ghanush. In Shaz of Sunset, Adam is always making his... Is it Tabulie or whatever? Tabulie. I can't remember if it was Tabulie or Baba Ghanush. And then whatever, they're making fun of him because it's not even good. But it's like his thing. He married someone, per se, and it makes Tabulie. That's really cute. I don't know what the fair was. She was saying that the farmer was Jordanian and the cheese is from Lebanon.

00:05:08

I feel like it actually wasn't Mediterranean. It was more Middle Eastern, whatever. Ben bought... First of all, she gave him a four-course meal of tasters. I just think she liked him, and I literally felt awkward being there. They were in love. Ben said it was the best food I did buy a Baclava. I know that's Mediterranean. It was so fucking good. Ben got like, cheeses and oils and I don't know. It's all stuff you leave out on the counter. Great. You know how much I love things on the counter. So, yeah, we vlogged it.

00:05:35

How did we get here? I don't know. I'm waiting for the- You said? Did you enjoy his- Oh, all that to say, no, I didn't try anything because you know that shit is disgusting.

00:05:44

It's like she's sitting in oil on my counter. It doesn't even go in the fridge.

00:05:46

That was a wall of cheese. It looked like a matzo ball.

00:05:48

Thank you. No, it was cheese.

00:05:50

He made soup for his Koji.

00:05:51

No, no. He made... He didn't even make it. His mistress gave it to him. It was the craziest time in the farmer's market. It was so drama. It was so fun, though. Actually, you should check out the vlog for a little surprise. I will. Then launch a project.

00:06:06

Are you going to yell at me about last night? Is there going to be a public flogging? Okay.

00:06:14

I wanted to go to a party Sunday dinner. Thank you for reminding me. I have so much to tell you. I wanted to go to a party Sunday dinner, and everybody here tells me about this Chinese food place that they all go to on Sundays, but it's far. I called Jackie. I was like, We're going to go to the Chinese place. She's like, You know it's 40 minutes.

00:06:28

You know why somebody said? I Oh, nice. And you said, How far is it? I was like, Probably 30. It was 25. You asked how far. So I said, 35, 40 minutes.

00:06:34

And then I looked on Google, it was 38. And then I was realizing that I had eaten pretty healthy all day. And even on the drug, I can't control myself at Chinese food. So I was like, Let's pivot. So I asked my sister for a food recommendation. Big mistake.

00:06:47

Yeah. I gave her the rec of a really great Asian place that's closer by that I've been to once.

00:06:52

When I think Asian, I think sushi, Japanese, Chinese. Fine. And I think it's a cuisine that I like because it doesn't feel inaccessible to me. Like, yes, you can do it really fancy and high brow, but it's lots of rice and chicken that I love.

00:07:08

As long as there's rice and chicken.

00:07:10

I never even look at a menu. If I'm going to an Asian restaurant, whether it's Chinese, Japanese, I can figure it out. They have teriyaki. When I walked into this restaurant, I was like, Wishing I had looked at the menu before because it was when the waitress was explaining the fair to me, it was so elevated. It was fusion. It was shared tapas. I'm like, But tapas is Latin. It was just so fusion.

00:07:32

Tapas is a concept. But it's Latin. But it's a concept.

00:07:36

It was so fusion. It was so inaccessible. I looked at the menu, I'm like, There's not one thing for me on this meal.

00:07:42

It wasn't side rice?

00:07:43

They had all these different fusion fried rices, all that had pork. I was like, do you have a fried rice veg? She was like, Yeah, we can do a vegetarian fried rice. I will say that was the one thing I clung to. Ben was in fucking heaven. Again, I felt like a third wheel with the waitress. She kept coming over being like, How is it?

00:08:00

Well, yeah, I wanted to ask, did he love it? Oh my God. It's really good.

00:08:04

Ruby was also like... Oh, he loved it? No, he was close to bedtime, not having it. I was like, You know what? You enjoy your date with your waitress. I will go outside and walk him around. It was just I left so hungry. I wanted to kill you. You don't know me. The crazy thing is, it was a cute little area, so we walked around afterwards looking for an ice cream spot. The restaurant across the street, you should have recommended to me.

00:08:28

That was like- I've never been to the restaurant. I don't know what I've never I don't know it.

00:08:30

It looked just like a regular sushi restaurant, like very accessible, no fusion.

00:08:35

It was very Cody turnted. Next time I ever... You should do this having known yourself, I don't want to age you, but how old are you? How many years on this planet?

00:08:44

I'm about 19. 26.

00:08:46

You should be looking at the menus before you go to restaurants because you are so picky.

00:08:50

If you or Ben tell me to go somewhere, the two people on this planet who are supposed to know me best, I don't expect you walking into a global fusion. It's just not me.

00:08:59

Okay. The place across the street. Like I said, I got a 50% right.

00:09:04

Yeah, the wrong 50, and I will be going to the place across the street. Okay.

00:09:11

So you're hungry today?

00:09:13

Emotionen.

00:09:14

We need a pargy lunch.

00:09:16

I wanted to talk about what's in this envelope.

00:09:17

Oh, we have something important to do today because businessman of the week.

00:09:21

We said that we're not going to change businessman of the week every week because then we're just beholden. It becomes like this stupid thing. But we've actually been right on schedule where every week we I have a businessman that we need to feature.

00:09:31

It's an amazing opportunity for many reasons to feature an amazing person.

00:09:35

A business.

00:09:36

Shout out someone who's doing something that we didn't know that they were doing. We didn't know that was happening.

00:09:40

I'd like to shout out. It was a toaster who gave us this idea. We always talk about our friend Bridget. Bridget, You know what's so funny? I call her at Bridget. I call her at Bridget, too, because I don't know her last name because her username on Instagram is just Bridget. But it's Bridget Ball. To me, it's Bridget Barr because she started the bar. She's a queen for many reasons, but in the last year, she's documented her journey on social media, going through chemo, It's been really trying time, and she's always talking about her and her husband's so there for her. They just finished treatment, and she was posting on her Instagram that she really wants to do something for her husband because he's been just so supportive and so amazing during this time. Like, literally put his whole life on hold for her. She was like, I want to take you on a trip, yada, yada. And she shared that Mike actually doesn't- Her husband. Her husband doesn't want to go on a trip because he feels so behind. He's just put work completely to the side, and going on a trip would just make him feel even more stressed, even more behind.

00:10:26

So she was like, But what can I do for you? And he was like, You know what? It would actually be really helpful if you could share on your Instagram. She has a million followers, all female, a lot in her area. She lives in Texas. If you could just share a little bit about my business on your Instagram, maybe to get some more patients.

00:10:39

Because he's a plastic surgeon.

00:10:42

I actually know a couple of people who Shannon Ford has posted that she got her upper bluff done. They've had amazing, amazing. I wouldn't tell anyone to just go to any plastic surgeon. I know a couple of people who've gotten boobs, eyes, face, all the things. So having said all of that, our businessman of the week.

00:10:58

This week is Dr. Dr. Mike.

00:11:00

Mr. Bridget. Mr. Bridget. We have his headshot printed.

00:11:03

Oh my God.

00:11:04

Also, I just love him. He is the standard for what a husband should be. He's so cute. I love him. Yeah. So sorry to the CEO of Air Maze. We have bigger- Gotten booted by Dr. Mike/ourhusband.

00:11:16

If you are in the Dallas Metro area and need any plastic surgery or injectables, we recommend that you check out his practice.

00:11:22

Yes. Go ask Shannon for it. She had the best, most amazing experience there. Actually, she recovered at Bridget's house. I don't think they do that for all their patients. Standard But if you're in the need for new breasts, new eyes, new lips, new face, whatever.

00:11:34

Maybe a little something, a little tinker.

00:11:36

Maybe cosmetic or maybe something that's just bothered you your whole life and you haven't... Let this be the sign.

00:11:40

A little consult.

00:11:42

Look at him. Perfect. Our BMOTW, Mike Chode. Excuse me.

00:11:46

Dr. Mike Chode. Dr. Mike.

00:11:49

That looks great. I'm obsessed with businessman of the week because in all of our clips, there's just a guy right behind me.

00:11:54

I'm obsessed with it. I like it, too. I also feel like it's a really great opportunity to share Share some good news. It's very cause-driven.

00:12:03

We are extremely cause-driven.

00:12:04

And of course, we are waiting for sponsorships. But before those come, I really like using it as a platform just to highlight someone who's doing something really great. It's giving some good news by John Krisinski.

00:12:13

Oh, my God. Maybe we'll sell for 100 Mill. Maybe we will. Yeah. Last week we highlighted someone who refused to join Jeffrey Epstein's pedophilia ring, Slay the House Down Boots, El Axel Dumont. And then before that, we highlighted just a man doing his best.

00:12:25

The man who took a chance and the man who inspired businessman of the week, and that's Paul Salem, maybe soon, boyfriend of Nicole Kidman.

00:12:32

Yes, I have heard that they're dating, and that's what that weird article was, like a soft launch.

00:12:36

Well, good. Yeah. I love that.

00:12:38

What else should we talk about?

00:12:40

I read the Redheads book this weekend. We are reading What Kind of Paradise by Janel Brown, and we're recording today. And I didn't know what to expect, but the book dares to answer the question, What if the Unabomber had a daughter? That's what the book was. It was like, not fan fiction. What's it called? Like, Quintin Tarantino does it when it's like history- No, it's It's like fan fiction.

00:13:00

It's like...

00:13:01

Like, I did- Historical fantasy, I guess. Yeah. It's like the story pretty much the Unabomber, but his daughter is in the cabin with him, and it's a coming of age novel.

00:13:12

That's really crazy.

00:13:13

You know, I'm obsessed with the Unabomber.

00:13:16

I do know that.

00:13:16

So I didn't mind taking a path down Unabomber way. But no, I enjoyed it, actually. It felt like so many books that I've already read, though. Have you ever heard of Educated by Tara Westover? Do you ever hear that book? I've heard of it. You've heard? Oh, it's really, really good. It felt like that. It felt like Tomorrow, Tomorrow, Tomorrow, Which was a huge book for the book Girlies because it's all about the invention of the internet and gaming and whatnot.

00:13:43

So I feel like now- So the Bessy It would be a good time to just share my truth that I don't know what the Unabomber is.

00:13:50

Okay. Can I share that? Is that crazy? No, it's not because it happened in the '90s when you were living it, so no one taught you about it because it wasn't history to you, but you were too young to what was going on.

00:14:00

And I just feel like it's always Unabomber this, Unabomber that. There's never been the right time for me to share. I don't know what the fuck that is. Or is it a person?

00:14:07

It's a person. It's a serial killer. His name is Ted.

00:14:10

A serial killer?

00:14:11

He's a serial killer because he was a Unabomber. He used to send packages to different people. He was an anarchist, and he was really against technology and advancement and progress. And he would send mail bombs in the mail to different professors and people in high up who are making progress and studying these things. And it's called Unibomber because it was like universities and airline bomber. He sent it to airlines, too. And it went on for like 20 years. Oh, my. And they could not catch him. So scared. And then they did. Then they did in the '90s, you want to know how they caught him? I would love to know.

00:14:48

Technology?

00:14:49

He said, he sent a letter to the Washington Post and the New York Times saying, If you publish my manifesto, I will not kill again. The FBI, and this had been a global case, so they were like- Is it your movie? Yeah, it's a mini-series called Manhunt Unabomber. I recommend it. And I read up on him last night because I was like, I wanted to- Is this going to spoil it? No, you're not going to watch it.

00:15:09

It's just history. I don't know. It sounds like something I know. You're making it sound so enticing. Okay, go spoil it. I'm just putting the swirly-spur.

00:15:14

Go spoil it.

00:15:15

I'm putting the swirly-spur. Yeah, sure.

00:15:17

He sent a letter to both of them saying, If you publish my manifesto, I will not kill anyone else. And they were really torn at the whole country, because you don't want to...

00:15:25

Negotiate with terrorists.

00:15:26

Right. But you don't want anyone else to die. And then this magazine, Penhouse, was like, We'll publish It's like a penthouse? Yeah. And he was like, that's- Corno? Yeah. He was like, that's too unsavory. So I'll just kill one more if you guys are publishing it. And so then the New York Times was like, okay, we'll publish it. I think that's right. So they published it, but also because they wanted to see if anybody reading it might recognize the language that he was using. And it turns out that his brother's wife was on to him and was like, this sounds like a letter that he wrote us once. Like, he's so crazy. He's been saying this stuff for years. And then the brother and his wife, they actually did a lot of due diligence.

00:15:59

It's always the wife.

00:16:00

They did a lot of due diligence before they officially turned him in. They had people comparing his letters, is it a match? And they turned him in, and it was him.

00:16:10

Okay. Now, I feel like this is such an amazing story. I'm gripped. And I know people talk about the Unabou all the time, but I feel like it should be more famous story. How did I not know what that is?

00:16:22

I feel like people reference him a lot. But again, it's just like JFK love story. It happened in the '90s, so we were old enough to be there, but young enough that we're not learning it in our history books, maybe like kids nowadays do. But it was part of a lot of like, '90s crime that I only recently learned about, like Waco.

00:16:39

Speaking of Waco, oh my God, I cannot believe you brought up Waco. I literally felt like Waco. What did you do, David Fresh. Where we're staying has a ceiling fan, and I love it. It also has a light. And it happened once before, but last night, twice, the ceiling fan must be wired improperly. The light went on. Do you know what it's like to be woken up with a bright light above your head in the middle of the night. Waco. I was wake up. Psychological terror. It happened twice. I was in fucking hell. Then I couldn't go back to sleep. It was literally what the FBI did to that cult. Yeah. Crazy. I literally felt like David Krasge.

00:17:13

Ranch Davidian.

00:17:14

I I can't believe you brought up Waco. I was thinking before the show- It all comes back to Waco. That actually is true.

00:17:20

So, yeah, this is Waco oriented, which reminds me of Educated by Tara Westover because it's also like, it's her memoirs. She up in a survivalist home, like out in the- So did I.

00:17:34

I mean, Four Sisters, Survivalist, you know?

00:17:37

Yeah.

00:17:37

Four Sisters, one bathroom.

00:17:39

Apocalyptic.

00:17:41

Literally. Yeah.

00:17:42

I feel that. That was us.

00:17:44

What else can we chat about before we get into the stories?

00:17:46

I did watch- But anyways, Redheads will come out this week, and if you read the book or you read it and read along with us.

00:17:51

I did watch the actor awards last night, and I have a lot of negative things to say, even though I hate to be negative. That's just my truth.

00:17:58

Okay, well, we're going to get into I think that's a story of me. I think I chose him.

00:18:03

She's so coy.

00:18:05

And let's get into it, shall we? Okay. No, no, no. Without further do, do, do, do. It is time for the past five stories that you need to know.

00:18:11

And the past five stories that you need to know are brought to you by Vivrelle. If you don't know Vivrelle yet. You ain't living. I actually don't know Vivrelle yet. Oh, Jackie's bag is from Vivrelle.

00:18:18

Say hello to my Goyard that's on loan from Vivrelle. Also, sound off in the comments because I'm thinking, because this is the beauty of Vivrelle. It's like, you can borrow bags, you can swap them. I've got to try out this Goyard tote that I was always wondering, is this for me? And it is. But now I'm wondering if I should go bigger.

00:18:33

I do think you should go bigger.

00:18:34

And a different color.

00:18:34

No, I like the color.

00:18:35

I can take that chance with Vivrelle.

00:18:37

So Vivrelle is a members-only club where you can borrow designer bags, jewelry, watches, even diamonds. So it's basically a rotating dream closet that you don't have to commit to and you also don't have to spend on. So the best part is that they have no return dates. You can keep a piece as long as you want or swap monthly if you're ready for something new. If you fall in love with something, you can also buy it straight from Vivrelle for way less than anywhere else. The most popular tier is the Classic tier. It's $139 a month, and it's by far the most popular, which really makes sense because the value you get is really wild. I have two Chanel bags that I'm borrowing from Vivrelle right now that I adore. They're really trendy. I probably would never buy them, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't be able to enjoy. I actually recommend to Vivrelle to Taylor Strecker because she's a queen of like... She She was very open about how she buys a lot of fake bags. I'm like, You know what? And she spends a lot of money on them, too. I'm like, Girl, just get Vivrelle.

00:19:20

You're always swapping through bags. You're going on trips. And I feel like that was some of the best advice I ever gave her, I just want to say.

00:19:24

Also, as someone who's been suffering with late in life decision paralysis, buying a new bag, making a big purchase like that, I'm like, Is it right for me? I don't want to think about it for so long. I'd rather take it for a spin, take it for a test drive, see how it goes. That's what I love Viveral for.

Then Wetter Spoon started sponsoring our show. They sent this huge box of stuff to our house. We've gone through it all. Ben loves the sucking candies.

00:21:50

Ben loves honey.

00:21:51

My husband loves honey, and I feel like we always are hearing about the natural benefits of honey, especially Manuka honey. But the honey that we eat at the grocery store is not that. I love this brand. I love giving a spoonful of it to myself when I'm not feeling good or a little tickle on my throat, especially being around the kids a lot recently.

00:22:08

Like my kids. I give it to the kids when they have a tickle in their throat. The kids love honey. We are a very honey household. I'll put it in everything to sweeten it up. We love Wetter Spoon because it's the best honey.

00:22:46

I have another brand that I'm passionate about that I'll let you guys know about.

00:22:49

Is it chaptoismerch. Com? No, it's not. Oh, yeah.

00:22:52

In the next break. In the next break.

00:22:53

In the next break. Yeah. Take tune. Yeah, Jackie has a big announcement. It's a good project.

00:22:58

Our first story The Actors Awards were on Netflix last night. We got the big winners, the big losers, Michael B. Jordan bested, Timothée Chalamet. That was a big deal. The red carpet was Pardalicious Definitius.

00:23:14

It was very high quality. I really liked Netflix's... I think this is the first award show they've done, and I thought it was very high brow. The carpet looked gorgeous. The livestream was pretty seamless. I loved having no commercials like that. I definitely felt like I was living in the future. They do say about the SAG Awards because it is like a peer voted. I have a hair stuck in my lipstick. Do you see it? I can't get it.

00:23:35

I do see it. I think you just got it by bumping your mic.

00:23:40

It's like a peer voted award, which people say means more.

00:23:45

Because it's presented by Sagafstra.

00:23:47

Right. And you won because your peers think that you did a great job, your fellow members. But they also say it has no bearing on Oscars because it's peer voted. So take that with the winners, with with a grain of salt. I think some people want to win it, but they don't get down on their hopes of an Oscar because of it. Kristen Bell was a host. How did she do? Ariana DeBose the fuck out of the intro. I'm surprised. How we all came for Ariana DeBose, I I couldn't believe there weren't more people. She did one of the worst. Her singing was good, but it was one of those things, where thank God, I had the captions on because I had no idea what she was saying. She was talking about everybody's names, and they kept cutting to the person. It was literally Ariana DeBose 2. 0. I think Ariana's was better. All about stage names, and I honestly didn't understand it. And I just feel like, have we learned quite literally nothing? And a lot of her sketches were annoying and very hosty.

00:24:37

But good, like inoffensive and-Inoffensive.

00:24:40

So the thing about the SAG Awards, it's very Insider. So they do that thing at the beginning, which I adore, which is they cut to a couple of different actors. They tell a funny story, and then they end it with, I am an actor. They had Kristen Wig. They had Kate Hudson. I really like that It's very funny, and it's well-written. I feel like it's SNL-y vibes. But a lot of the event feels like very insider because it's for Hollywood people. It's televised, but I feel like up until recently, it's not for the audience.

00:25:16

It's for- The industry. Yeah.

00:25:18

So a lot of it just felt like they were all having so much fun with each other. I'm like, Why am I watching this? But I feel like the production level was really there, and I appreciated Netflix's first stab at an award show. I don't think have Kristen Bell hosted again. I think that last year she did it, and it was really well received, and that was before it became the actor awards, the rebrand. So I think they wanted for continuity to help people understand. But I do think they could try someone new. Yeah. They had a ping-pong tournament with Ted Danson. It was really silly.

00:25:50

Understood. And Dax Sheppard wasn't there because he was getting a colonoscopy.

00:25:55

No.

00:25:56

One thing about Dax Sheppard is he's going to make everything about himself, and I love that. Yeah. He posted a text from, I guess, this doctor about his schedule. Just to prove why he wasn't there, as if there's not trouble in paradise, which I don't think anyone would think that there is. I don't think anyone. But that is weird. It's a big night for your wife. Move your colonoscopy. They're pretty routine, right? Agreed. Yeah. Yeah, that's true. You're a big star. I'm sure you get preference in your colonoscopy office. The award for, I think, Supporting Actress in a Comedy Show did go to Katherine O'H Mara posthumously, which was really sweet.

00:26:32

Everybody stood up, and she is in the studio, which is the Seth Rogan show, which swept. Seth won, and then he was the one who accepted the award on Katherine's behalf. I don't love Seth Rogan, and I felt like he was not the right person to accept it, but he did give a really lovely speech about the last couple of months. This is the last project she worked on and had to honor her legacy. I actually wanted to be a hater, but it was very sweet. His show swept. I haven't seen the show. It made me want to see it because I didn't realize Katherine O'Hara was in it, much like Cynthia Reeve. I didn't know that was happening.

00:27:05

Do you want to hear the other winner? Yeah. The big outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture, so best picture, went to Sinners. Yes.

00:27:13

Sinners has been snubbed. Has it?

00:27:17

Not snubbed, but it's- I don't know anything about Sinners. Seriously, not one thing, except Michael B. Jordan and Hailey Steinfeld are in it. Yeah, Michael B. Jordan.

00:27:23

It's very parent-trap. He plays himself twice.

00:27:26

Then someone sent me a clip.

00:27:27

A clip, yeah.

00:27:28

There was a clip going viral.

00:27:29

I I haven't seen the movie, except I've seen a 30-second clip.

00:27:31

And I just assumed it's a good movie. It's getting all this buzz. You just assume it's really great. And I saw this clip that was some of the worst writing- It was Hailey Steinfeld talking about getting- No, don't even. It was so bad. It was like when Amelia Perez clips were going viral for how outrageous they were. The dialog was. Penis to vagina, vagina to penis. And it's like, that's an award-winning.

00:27:54

Literally Oscar-winning song.

00:27:56

So that was what my experience was with Sinners. Now, I about the rest of the movie outside of the 30 seconds that I saw, but it did not bode well.

00:28:03

I've heard that the movie is incredible and that Michael B. Jordan is amazing. How is that possible? I don't know. He keeps getting... He keeps losing. I guess context.

00:28:11

Yeah, right. I'll just go with context.

00:28:13

He keeps losing to Timothy. So I'm sure he was excited. He won this one.

00:28:16

He won Outstanding Performance by Male actor, so best actor. Female actor went to Jessie Buckley for Hamlet. Then supporting male actor went to Sean Penn, one battle after another.

00:28:29

He was not there. A lot of people weren't there, by the way.

00:28:33

Amy Madigan in Weisons.

00:28:39

The TV show is more interesting to me.

00:28:41

Yeah, Best Drama, The Pit. You must have been happy to see that.

00:28:43

Noah Wiley won. My boyfriend.

00:28:45

Adam Sandler, his handsome cousin.

00:28:48

What?

00:28:49

We just talked about this. Are you sure? No, I'm just saying he looks like Adam Sandler, his handsome cousin.

00:28:56

They're both Jewish. I thought they were actually cousins.

00:28:58

They probably are.

00:28:59

Yeah, Trace Aluña. Trace Aluña. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

00:29:02

But he looks like him.

00:29:03

He was wearing the craziest outfit. It was just a black tuxedo.

00:29:07

Yeah, I'm sorry. This looks like Adam Sandler. Every time I see him.

00:29:10

That's really generous, Adam Sandler.

00:29:11

Because also, I don't watch this show, so I'm not so familiar with his face. So when I see him, at a right angle, Adam Sandler. Not at all.

00:29:18

Also, it's like- People felt that call last time I made it. It's the new Gen Game of Thrones. Remember how Game of Thrones, everybody used to show up to award shows and you'd be like, Seriously, who is that? They're all doctors. There's not a stitch of makeup in the show, not a blow dry. They look like rats. You're supposed to be on this twelve hours shift, the worst. When I saw something like stunting, what's his name? The blonde one. Whitaker. He was wearing a Luke. I was like, Excuse me. Langdon was wearing a kilt. I was like, Okay, slay Langdon. It was shocking. It was reminding me of Game of Thrones, where you'd have to be like, Wait, who is that in the show again? Because they look so glam. They all showed up and showed out. I didn't realize that the cast was nominated, so literally everyone came.

00:29:54

Yeah. Then a female actress in a drama, Kerry Russell, the Diplomat.

00:29:59

I don't know Kerry Russell. I just feel like her peers love her, and that's why she won.

00:30:02

Not that she's bad. And the Diplomat, yeah. It's like the new scandal. Yeah. But Parker Posey was nominated for White Lotus. Yeah, overlooked. I do feel like she was overlooked a little bit, but I don't watch Diplomat. I know people love it, so don't come for me, seriously. I don't give a shit about it.

00:30:16

Yeah, right. I have no horse in this race. Leave me alone.

00:30:19

Comedy series went to the studio. Must be super funny.

00:30:24

I know. I feel like I need to watch it. No, I don't. I just really don't like Seth Worgan. It's He created it. He's a star. I don't think I can watch it.

00:30:32

It's all about Seth.

00:30:32

Yeah, I can.

00:30:34

So he won best male actor in a comedy series. Congrats. Female actress went to Katherine O'Hara. Katherine O'Hara. Male actor in a television movie or limited series. Owen Cooper, Adolescence.

00:30:44

He was not there.

00:30:46

I love a limited series. That was like, I'm a loner.

00:30:48

That was like Queens Gambit. The best, literally the best show ever made.

00:30:52

Queens Gambit is the template.

00:30:54

For mini-series. Chernobyl. Chernobyl. I love a mini-series. I totally agree. And I think in this day and age, a lot things start out as mini-series, and they do second and third seasons, and it ruins them. Yeah.

00:31:04

Big little eyes. Would have been perfect. I know people loved it, and they would never agree with me, and no one would ever... They were like, No, you're wrong. No, season one was amazing. Michelle Williams dying for sex. I think she was surprised to win.

00:31:19

I was surprised to see her there. I didn't know that was happening, much like the Arivo.

00:31:23

Yeah, but she's always a good...

00:31:25

She's a classic. She's like, Meryl Streep.

00:31:27

When in doubt, Michelle Williams.

00:31:29

Oh, I caught I have on Love Story, did you?

00:31:32

No, I'm still logged out of Hulu when I had to read for Red Head.

00:31:34

Okay, I just want to say I stand by what I said, and it's nice to see other people having the same experience as me. The guy who is JFK is abhorrent. He's one of the worst actors of all time. What?

00:31:44

He's getting like, insane accolades.

00:31:45

No, he's not. Where'd you find this guy? Because of the resemblance. I feel like they really were like... I was reading a Ryan Murphy interview about how they literally almost postponed the production because they could not find... They wanted a nobody. He said a lot of pre-established actors wanted to play the role, and they were hell-bent on finding someone new, discovering someone new. They were watching thousands of tapes and thousands of head shots, and they finally found this guy a month before production. They had Sarah Pigeon always as Caroline. She was always as Caroline, and they couldn't find J. Okay. I feel like they just got really sidetracked by- His looks? His looks because he really does look very similar. I saw a clip on TikTok today from a podcast talking about it. And it was these really smart theater people. And they had the best takes. And I was agreeing with everything they're saying. First of all, JFK was that guy. He was so sure of himself. When you see him in press conferences, he's very smart. He knows exactly who he is. And in the show, he's giving a joke.

00:32:37

Well, that's Ryan Murphy's fault then.

00:32:39

But it's like, they're recreating a lot of the clothing, right? When we saw the park fight, it was the same.

00:32:45

I was sending that to you because I couldn't believe that they fought in public like that.

00:32:48

Oh, yeah. The first time I saw it, I was shocked. That's insane. So it was in this episode. So they're wearing the same exact outfits. They're copying a lot of the outfits exactly, which I like. So when she walked out of her apartment in that outfit, I'm like, Oh, They're about to fight in the park. I knew. And the girl in the TikTok was saying, No, literally, all the clothes are wearing him. He looks so silly in all of us. Jfk was known for wearing the craziest things, but he was just this effortlessly cool guy that you didn't even think twice about what he was wearing, even though it was nutty as hell. He wore his belt, his bike lock as a belt all the time. This guy could never. I'm sorry. I think he's terrible.

00:33:22

I haven't noticed. I haven't had that experience. I guess no one's talking about the acting. Everyone's just talking about the two of them.

00:33:29

They're talking about Caroline and JFK themselves. Yeah.

00:33:31

And everyone's having a renaissance with them. Yeah.

00:33:34

And that's what I was saying when I first recap the show. It's like, the show was amazing because this is the most fascinating story.

00:33:39

Down a rabbit hole.

00:33:40

And weirdly enough, even though it was so big at the time, I think a lot of people, myself included, don't know the lore.

00:33:45

Because it's '90s. Right. So- The '90s are a blind spot. It was ripe- For people born in the '90s.

00:33:51

It was ripe for recreation. And it was never going to fail, especially Sarah Pigeon is so gorgeous. Like, he stinks. Sorry, we're being blinded by the fabulousness of it all. He stinks. I haven't had that experience. He just had a baby over the weekend. Congrats.

00:34:06

And I think that if he's coming off as a weenie, as you had said, and loser energy, even like, why didn't he ever break up with Darryl? He didn't like her.

00:34:15

Oh, and in real life, it was so much worse.

00:34:17

Why did he always have to wait for her to break up with him? Why couldn't he just take a stand? Also, he's leading on Darryl for two years.

00:34:25

And it's worse than that.

00:34:26

He can't make a choice. But if that's what happened, that's not on the actor.

00:34:30

In real life, you got to the part with the letter, right?

00:34:33

What letter?

00:34:34

Somebody leaves a letter in his bag at football?

00:34:36

No.

00:34:37

What the hell have you watched? How many episodes?

00:34:39

Three episodes, and then it got locked out.

00:34:40

Talk to Hulu. Okay. Well, in the real world, he got the letter confronted her with it in public at a restaurant, threw it at her, and then they broke up for a year. And in that year, he got back with Darryl Hannah. This is the man.

00:34:52

But you keep saying he was that guy. He was. But he did those things.

00:34:57

Yeah, because only guys like that can do that. No. And get away with it and still be a heartthrob.

00:35:01

You're the most famous face in the world. You can't walk out of your apartment without paparazzi. We don't... Nothing like we ever seen. And you're fighting in public.

00:35:10

Also, I want to say one more thing. Are you following Jack Schlossberg? He's running for Congress now. I feel like he's running with the momentum of the show. The time is so... It's intentional. No, it's intentional. There's a resurgence of people being like, Oh, my God, that was such a better time. I wish we had the Kennedy dynasty. And he's running for Congress. I'm seeing all these videos of him. He's hosting meet and greets at diners with real New Yorkers or whatever. And it's giving cringe.

00:35:37

That's really crazy. Also, was JFK... Is the insinuation that he was going to run for President one day?

00:35:44

You have to watch the show. I can't talk to you.

00:35:47

The thing is, I don't mind the spoilers.

00:35:49

So the thing is we'll never know, right? Because he, spoiler alert, passed away before he would have- But yeah, he was on the track.

00:35:54

Ag, law school.

00:35:55

Even though in the show, when he asks her to marry him, she doesn't give an answer yet. And she was like, I need to know what I'm getting. You're so spur of the moment. I need to know. Do you plan on running for president one day? And he said, no.

00:36:08

I was like, you can't say yes.

00:36:10

Really? She was like, I need to- If you say it, then it won't come true. Right, right, right, right.

00:36:16

Can't tell anyone.

00:36:17

But I don't know. I wasn't alive during that time. So I don't know how... Because the show was a 10-year period. So I don't know when he died, what his situation was.

00:36:25

Yeah. And I was just thinking, just because your dad was President, it doesn't mean... We haven't had anyone except for- No, the Bushes.

00:36:32

The Bushes. That was like an era. It was the Bush era, too, where America was obsessed with dynasties.

00:36:38

We were ready to elect someone's son. Right.

00:36:41

George H. Dubs. George Dubs.

00:36:43

It's the only one.

00:36:44

Yeah, but it was in the era of the Kennedy's and the Bushes. The Bushes are, I feel like, are only remaining dynasties. And then Jeb. Jeb. Jenna Bush.

00:36:55

Jenna. Of course.

00:36:57

Yeah, we forget about the Bushes. We forget about They're like, akin most to the Kennedy's, where there's like, Lauren Bush. Lauren, Lauren.

00:37:06

Ralph Lauren. Is that who that is?

00:37:08

Yeah. She married Ralph Lauren's son, David Lauren, and her name is Lauren Bush. She's not Jen, but I thought she was Jen's sister, but she's not. But she is a Bush.

00:37:17

Okay.

00:37:18

Barbara. They're everywhere.

00:37:19

Barbara.

00:37:21

I don't know another family like that alive right now.

00:37:26

Is Lauren Bush related to President Bush? Yes. Yes, she is.

00:37:32

There's also another Bush brother, but I feel like he's a loser. Nobody knows his name.

00:37:36

That could be Lauren Bush's dad. Oh, sorry. Neil Bush.

00:37:40

I wouldn't know.

00:37:41

But he probably has an inner piece.

00:37:44

I just want to say JFK Jr. Is such an Epo baby. And I feel like they're leading with that. Yeah. But I mean, more so in his attitude, right? Like, I don't know who I am. I'm more than just my family.

00:37:54

Living in the shadow. Right. Of a great man. Seriously, there's no way to not be living in the shadow. Yeah. You know?

00:38:01

But that was back when America lived for nepotism. You know? Those are the days.

00:38:06

Yeah.

00:38:07

Now it's like a curse, like a scarlet letter. People hide their parents. You're not allowed to talk about it in an interview, Ben Platt.

00:38:16

But I think we should judge the man. I agree. What about that? Beautiful. Netbo or not Netbo?

00:38:23

To Netbo or not to Netbo. That is the question.

00:38:26

Are you ready for our next story? Oh, my God, it's only our second story. Yeah, sorry. Harry Style's opened the Brit Awards with a performance of aperture, and the Brit Awards were this weekend. Yes, the Brit Awards.

00:38:36

I don't live in Britain, so I don't understand their significance, but it's akin to the Grammys. It's a really big deal. I saw a bunch of news. I saw Olivia Dean performing. I saw Samba performing. It was the same people.

00:38:48

Also, how come I had to find it for myself and no one told me that Olivia Dean has a song called Love Ya Bye?

00:38:55

Okay, Love Ya Bye, didn't mean to pick a fight. That's so true.

00:39:00

That's my theme song.

00:39:00

I don't think I knew that that was the name of the song. I just thought it was a lyrics.

00:39:03

No, it's Love You Bye. Yeah.

00:39:05

If you had Raya, that would be the song that plays on your... Or I guess, MySpace. So yes, the Brit Awards were this weekend. Harry styles opened the show with a performance of his flop song, Appertur. I'm kidding. Oh, and also we need to talk about, so funny, Harry styles went on Royal Court.

00:39:21

Yes. So summing up two questions that we have from last week.

00:39:25

Where is Harry Style? Why isn't he doing press? And what is this Brittany Brosky show? Apparently, it's very popular with Gen Z, and I was showing my age by not knowing it. I hadn't heard of it, literally until two days later, Harry Style. They have a relationship. She's a very public number one fan, and they've met a couple of times. I think he likes a lot of her content. He thinks she's very funny. And so when it came time for him to leave the house and do press, somewhere safe, he went to Royal Court. And he talked about his hair plugs. So you know, there's been like, it's pretty much confirmed that he got plugs because a couple of years ago, his hairline was very much receding on the sides. Then he had a buzz era, which you have to have when you get plugs, you have to buzz your hair. He was wearing a lot of hats. Then he returned with a perfectly straight full hairline. So it's confirmed. We don't even need him to talk about it. He was doing the interview with Brittany, and she was like, Are those your real teeth?

00:40:13

Or something like as a joke, he wasn't expected to answer. And he was like, Yeah, this hairline, though. Just pretty much confirming that he got plugs, which I love. Normalize, get him plugs.

00:40:23

No, I feel like that's why he wasn't doing press because it's like...

00:40:27

But the timeline of the plugs, it's like the plugs have settled now for two, three years.

00:40:31

When you do these shows, you really do have to be authentic. You can't come on with a new head of hair and not talk about it. So I understand why maybe he's like, That's not for me. And the thing is, I don't need to know that Harry Style has got hair plugs confirmed. It ruins the mystique.

00:40:46

Yeah. I just feel like a lot of- You can say, Oh, no, he's supernatural.

00:40:50

His hairline just grew back.

00:40:51

So when Harry Stylez performed at the Brit Awards, I saw the comments, and it was all like, Oh, sorry, Benson Boon, your time is over. I feel like in the time that Harry has been gone, a lot of male pop divas have come on the scene. Benson Boon being one of them, Somber being one of them. Role Model. Role Model being one of them. I do feel like there isn't... We say with the pop divas, there's room for them all. For the male pop divas, there's actually not. No. There can only be so many. I feel like Harry's on the balls of his ass a little bit.

00:41:19

He is a little bit, especially with aperture.

00:41:20

That's why he had to debace himself at the Britz by doing a TikTok dance. Now, this is a thing that I've seen a lot that's really pissing me off. A key way to get your song off the ground is to have a viral dance go along with it. You can't really manufacture that. It just happens when it happens. There's no rhyme or reason why a song gets chosen. It's literally a teenage girl in her room doing the dance, and it takes off. It's really very natural.

00:41:43

A little bit, though, you can manufacture it when you're a big enough artist.

00:41:46

Now I see big artists manufacturing it. Taylor. It's so cringe. When Taylor...

00:41:51

You think that was not a good...

00:41:52

Keep it 100 on the length. That one, when I watched the music video, I was like, Oh, she's manufacturing a TikTok dance. It's the perfect time. It was 11 seconds. It was the best part of the song. It's three girls dancing. It was so obvious to me that it was trying to be manufactured. Now it took off hugely that it's not embarrassing or cringe because it worked. When I saw Harry on the awards doing a dance that he's never done, I was like, Okay, trying for TikTok.

00:42:17

You thought he was trying to be on TikTok.

00:42:18

Of course. Me recreating the Harry Style's dance. And then it just becomes a thing because the song didn't take off on TikTok. That's what I was saying last week. And in this day and age, for this genre of music and this generation of people listening, if your song doesn't take off on TikTok, your song doesn't take off, period.

00:42:33

But it could have taken off in another way with a different trend of like- No, of course, but he's trying to dance, and that's the most effective way. Yeah. Well, this is like a second stab at virality. The first one could have... You know, Dazies didn't have a dance, and it's all over TikTok. Justin Bieber. Yeah.

00:42:48

Yes, right. That is true. But it was all over TikTok. You have to be on TikTok.

00:42:53

I'm saying like...

00:42:55

There are ways to do it outside of a dance. Dancing is the most obvious.

00:42:58

Yeah. And now he's doing that. Honestly, when I saw the little clip of him dancing, I didn't feel red flags. I thought he was just having fun.

00:43:08

Oh, no. To me, it was so manufactured virality.

00:43:10

And to me, I really, I don't know why I feel like he's very scrupled.

00:43:19

Like above that.

00:43:20

And just above doing things that he doesn't want to do, putting out music he doesn't want to put out. Because if he was, he would say in one direction, be part of that bop.

00:43:27

Yeah, I'm sure they would love that.

00:43:29

I feel like he's very in his artisticness. And no one can be like, Harry, you have to do this, or else, you won't get played on the radio. He's like, So I won't get played on the radio. So when I see him doing something silly, goofy, I'm like, Oh, he felt silly, goofy.

00:43:40

Okay, so that's interesting. I think that also, and I think that's why he released this random song with this random cover art and this confusing album cover and did press from his couch. And then I feel like the results didn't yield. I think he was used to before he took his big break. He could have done anything and he didn't have to try. It was just popular, Taylor Swift level. You could release anything without any promo. Then he released this big song and it didn't have the legs. Now I feel like he's taken to alternative measures.

00:44:08

He's like, Okay, I'll listen to the Marketing Manager on the label.

00:44:11

This is my theory on this all.

00:44:13

I agree with you. That's how it feels. I just want to say I like that because I feel like this happens to women all the time, and they can never take a breath. And he thinks he can just go- Can never take a breath. And he's like, You want to be in the pop diva space? You think you can phone it in? They never phone it in.

00:44:27

Oh my God, Zara Larson's out here working harder than anyone in this business to get herself out of the chaos island.

00:44:32

Everyone. Yeah. Everyone.

00:44:34

And they talk all the time about how it ruins their lives that they can't take break. They can't have normal relationships. They can't get pregnant because the time that it were to require you to take off, you're forgotten about, especially after you turn 30, as Taylor very pointly pointed out in her documentary.

00:44:49

So I'm just glad that it's equal for all genders.

00:44:52

Agreed.

00:44:53

Based on gender. Exactly. Based on gender. So that's the Brit Awards week Yeah. Yeah. Next. Tom Holland and Zendaya are married, says her stylist, Laura Roach. So La Roach revealed on the Actors Awards red carpet that the wedding has already happened. You missed it. The reporter said, Is that true? To which Roach laughed and confirmed it's very true.

00:45:15

Now everyone's like, I can't believe law would go behind Zendaya's back until... One thing about La Roach, when he said something about Zendaya, it's been cleared. Zendaya doesn't give a fuck about the public. That's why she's so cool. And that's why she was able to get married without anyone knowing. She doesn't do it for the fans. In love with her man, and that's all that matters. So the fact that law shared it, Zendaya probably just wanted it out in the least big deal of a way. If she did an interview, no, just law telling everyone her business. Or her law had a falling out, and this is his way of getting back at her.

00:45:46

Or they're not married. Law's joking. The virgin. And he's throwing the scent off. Now people won't be on wedding watch. Because it's like, is he joking? It's jokey.

00:45:58

The thing about Zendaya, like I just said, she doesn't give a fuck. She wouldn't come up with a plan to divert the public. She doesn't care about the public.

00:46:05

Unless they just got married. It's not like there was a big wedding.

00:46:08

His family, her family in law, and she needed a dress, so she asked law. Yeah.

00:46:13

Well, regardless.

00:46:14

I believe that they're married, and I believe that this is her way of announcing it in a not big deal type of way because she's not a big deal type of girl.

00:46:21

It's beautiful.

00:46:22

It's beautiful. I love people who love being private. Everybody says they want their privacy, and then they go get paparazzied when the big one, Zendai included, has proven you can get away with not being paparazzi. I don't see paparazzi pictures of Beyoncé. When I see paparazzi pictures of Taylor Swift, it's because she wants us to.

00:46:40

I don't feel like all of them.

00:46:43

In New York, you can't get away with it.

00:46:44

No, but When she's always getting on her plane, she didn't call them there.

00:46:47

No, but the umbrella's. You can hide.

00:46:49

Oh my God. But it's like, they still get her through the umbrella's.

00:46:52

No, they get her feet, literally on her purse.

00:46:54

At a certain point, she can walk from her car to the plane without umbrella's, and it doesn't mean she has them on privacy.

00:46:58

Okay, but the plane could be in the hangar and she could board in the hangar. I'm just saying she wanted to be seen. She wanted people to know she was leaving X destination. There's a reason.

00:47:06

But they saw her. They track her plane.

00:47:09

But Taylor flies all the time, and we don't see all the pictures. She wants us to know.

00:47:13

You think she called them to the airport?

00:47:15

No, I think she knows that they're always going to be there. So if she wanted to get away unscathed, she boards in the hangar. That's what those hangars are for. Taylor actually owns a couple of hangers. It's like a little business side venture of hers.

00:47:26

Yeah.

00:47:26

In Nashville. I I feel like I'm getting a lot of money. All that to say, you can evade public paparazzi. You can evade that if you want to. Zendaya just does it so successfully that it makes you realize everybody else who claims they want privacy, you don't.

00:47:41

Yeah, you don't want it as bad as Zendaya.

00:47:43

Because it is possible. It's hard, but it's possible. If the most famous women in the world can do it, this nobody can.

Today's episode is also brought to you by HomeServe. Jackie, why don't you tell me a little bit about Homeserve?

00:50:32

I would love to tell you about Homeserve as a home owner because owning home is amazing. Until it's not one minute you're sipping coffee, the next, your ankle deep in water from a burst pipe. Repairs don't care about timing, and they definitely don't care about your budget. So regular homeowners insurance covers a lot, but it usually doesn't cover a lot of the day to day wear and tear, like plumbing failures, HVAC breakdowns, electrical issues. You're often on your own for those. So that's where Homeserve comes in. It's like a subscription for your home for as little as 4. 99 a month. They've got your back. Repairs hit fast and hard. You could be searching for a contractor in a panic, or you could already be on the phone with one from Homeserv's 24/7 hotline scheduling a repair. So it's very simple. Choose a plan for your needs and budget. And when something on your plan goes wrong, just call their 24/7 hotline to start the repair process. So yes, I had a little leak in my bathroom, one of my faucets. That's not something that's insurance, the big one, but these are day-to-day things that are really frustrating.

00:51:32

They add up. And it's not just the cost of it, which Homeserve will help you with once you're on a subscription, but it's also the resources of finding someone great. Their hotline will help you with that. So it's really a fantastic product for us homeowners. Help protect your home systems in your wallet with Homeserve against covered repairs. Plans start at just $4. 99 a month. Go to homeserve. Com to find the plan that's right for you. That's homeserve. Com. Not available everywhere. Most plans range between 4. 99 to 11. 99 a month for your first year. Terms apply on covered repairs. Thank you, Homeserve.

00:52:08

Thank you, Shaqui. That's a great resource. For sharing your truth with us.

00:52:11

That's a great resource. Happy to put people onto it. Great. Our next story, NBC is eyeing Pink to take over the Kelly Clarkson show. Rumors are a swirling. Pink has landed in New York, and the talk of the town is that she's taking over Kelly's show. So, NBC is not in the business of squandering a key time slot. In the wake of Kelly Clarkson's departure. And TMZ has confirmed the network is taking a hard look at Kelly's replacement this week, namely Pink. As one source connected to the show tells TMZ, Pink has what it takes, meaning she has the skill set to do an hour long interview show. Most importantly, the source says she's natural and friendly. Sources connected to the show say the show's staff loves Pink, and they're crossing their fingers that she's the one from NBC.

00:52:52

So I want to say I think this is a bad call all around. Okay. And I'm obviously protective of Kelly's time slot, so maybe that's that. But I think that was so great about Kelly, and I think why the show, she was so open to doing it, is when the time came, she really wasn't actively touring. And so you crave a job that will give you stability. She's a mom of two. With Pink, she's almost always on the road, and this job does not lend itself. And she's a very successful touring artist. This job doesn't lend itself to doing other things outside of it. It's very full-time. Also, I think what's underrated about Kelly, and people don't even really ever, I I think, acknowledge us, and that's why she's so good for the job, is daytime is very... It's father, right? It's not filler. It's not like you're not having hard conversations. It's hard for- Fluff. It's fluff. It's hard for someone to walk the line in this day and age without getting political. I think that's why literally everyone loves Kelly Clarkson. I think that she's very joyful. She's very uplifting in a time when people need that.

00:53:54

She's not talking about literally anything that's going on outside of her show. It's like an escape for people. There's very, very, very few people who can do that without getting shit. You're not political. It's a privilege to not be political. But for some reason, Kelly just gets away with it, and I think it actually benefits her in this particular job. Pink, for years, has very outspoken about a lot of different issues. I think that she wouldn't be able to maintain that level of escapism for people. Now, some people crave that in a daytime show where they're looking for more hard news or hot takes. But with Kelly's audience, I think they've really come to appreciate that it's just fun We're singing, we're talking other girls, we're talking about motherhood. We're not talking about anything that high level or deep. And I think that the audience might not take to Pink's totally opposite approach to that. Pink was one of the first people in the industry talking about politics. Before, now everyone does, but very much in the shut up and sing era of American music, she was one of the first. And I don't think she would change that.

00:54:56

Yeah, I would think of them more from a music and career standpoint, and I think they're in the exact same spot in their careers. And they both make music that I love. So to me, they are similar. But I agree with you in thinking about it. Like, pink is more divisive. And she said divisive things, not even back in the day when she was a troubled teen, but just recently.

00:55:17

She has strong opinions.

00:55:19

She's always like, If you don't like this, don't listen to my music. Which isn't someone who's for everyone all the time. So I agree with you. I imagine she wouldn't to bring that energy to this show. But I also think Pink's going to pink. She's very scrupled, and she's not going to shut her mouth to hold that job. Just to take a job. Agreed.

00:55:40

I can't imagine that she wants this job. I don't know. I feel like this is just a rumor.

00:55:45

Yeah.

00:55:45

She's such a successful touring artist.

00:55:46

It's just so funny how back in the day, she was one of the girlies, and she was the bad seed, right?

00:55:52

Right. No, she had short hair and tattoos.

00:55:54

And singing about how she's not like Jessica Simpson, and now she's the one who's America's Sweetheart.

00:56:00

It's crazy because you know what? The cream rises. Say what you want about pink. She is so fucking talented, and her music is so good.

00:56:08

She never went- What? I mean, I know.

00:56:10

No, I know. But I'm saying when you look at it at a glance, why did she make it She's still... Of all those pop girlies, she's really the only one who's still touring.

00:56:19

But it's also about... It's not just the music. It's head on her shoulders.

00:56:22

She is very headstrong.

00:56:23

She's the only one who didn't lose her mind at a certain point. It's so true.

00:56:26

She never went through a bad era because she was always this bad gal. But It was very... It was manufactured. It was like an image. She herself has always been very true to herself, very good head on her shoulders, very smart. And it's true, when you think of that era that she came from, she's the last one standing. Yeah.

00:56:41

And she was very tough. And I think she was able to make it through that very hard time, whereas everyone else was manipulated and didn't- That lost in the sauce. Lost in the sauce. And they're back. Yeah, of course. But it took a toll.

00:56:58

She never wavered. Took a toll. It sounds like the way we're describing her, like she would make an amazing talk show host. And I actually agree that she would make an amazing talk show host, but we're talking about filling the Kelly slot.

00:57:07

And maybe she's just filling Kelly slot, and it's the pink show, and you're going to get some hot takes, but she's not the next Kelly because Kelly is for everyone. You couldn't... And it's not like I know anyone who would say, I hate pink, but I think if they heard some of the things that she said, they'd be like, Oh, that doesn't represent me.

00:57:24

That's the cost of being a person with a lot of opinions that you share. And I think Pink knows that, and she prides herself on that being like, Well, if you don't agree with me, you don't have to listen to my music. You don't have to come to my show. Whereas Kelly has always been for everyone. I feel like we talk about it a lot in a more jokey way with Jimmy Fallon. He is for everyone because he just goes with the flow. And say what you want, maybe that makes him unswearable, but it does make him successful. I think he has a good Q score because of it. He doesn't really wade where other people do. And maybe he's not having the most intellectual monologs.

00:58:00

You know who might be good for this?

00:58:02

Let me think.

00:58:05

It's like, she might also be terrible. Who? But she might be good. Who? Katie Perry. Wow.

00:58:12

I mean, I'm down to try.

00:58:13

You know what?

00:58:14

She loves to be loved. And she loves to be loved.

00:58:17

And be out there. And she has so much energy. Maybe she needs to channel it.

00:58:22

Does it have to be a pop star?

00:58:23

No, but if we're thinking of the next Kelly Clarkson, and Katie is obviously not as loved as Kelly, but she needs to do something with all that energy.

00:58:31

Different. And I think a huge part of the show's success is the musical element of it. Like the Kelly Oakey, Katie Oakey. And I guess Kelly Clarkson owns the show. So whoever she picks, it's like how Barbara Walters invented The View, and she still is cashing checks to this day. I think that if they take on the format of Kelly's show, she'll still be a part of it, which she should be. But yeah, the musical element, it doesn't have to be a pop star, but the musical element was something nobody else had done on TV before. And I think it really helped with the success, especially catering to a young audience. The Kelly Oakey is going so viral and people being put onto Kelly for the first time through her show.

00:59:05

I think also a logical choice that people would think about is Carrie Underwood.

00:59:09

Oh, but Carrie Underwood is...

00:59:12

We're doing American Idol.

00:59:13

Well, that and she similar to Pink, but just on the opposite side. She's a homesteading trad wife. She's a homesteading trad wife. She performed at the inauguration. She is divisive also in terms of like, liberals would be like, I don't want to hear Carrie Underwood, and Conservatives would be like, I don't want to hear Pink. I think Liberals, Conservatives, they all agree Kelly Clark is an America's Sweetheart.

00:59:31

Yeah. She's the Venn diagram. She's a circle.

00:59:33

And that's why I think daytime fell into this tough spot because everything's very political right now, and daytime was always supposed to not be. And Kelly, and that's why I feel like the network is probably freaking. Kelly just got away with being Kelly and just being for everyone and being a fun place where people were coming to talk about their projects, telling funny stories. That was it.

00:59:52

But that's Jennifer Hudson, too. Yeah.

00:59:54

Jennifer Hudson does a really good job. And Jennifer Hudson does what I think Kelly hasn't done yet is Jennifer Hudson gets really involved with... A lot of influencers go on Jennifer Hudson. I think they have guests on who I think maybe Kelly would think is a little too low brow, like TikTokers. And I feel like in this day and age, you need to be open to the podcasters and the TikTokers.

01:00:16

You know who else? I'm just going to give- Drew Bermore? No. She does a good job. Kristen Bell seems like someone of this elk of everybody loves her.

01:00:27

And she sings.

01:00:29

And she sings. That's That's actually a really good call. That's Kristen Oakey. That's actually a really good call. You know what I like? I like Carrie Oakey. Yeah, but- Carrie Underwood. Do you think- We've already fired her.

01:00:37

That's a good... Do you think that there's enough room in their house for two talk show hosts? Kristen Bell and Dax Sheppard? I think he would freak.

01:00:43

Yeah, those two are the most employed people on the planet.

01:00:46

It's so true.

01:00:47

She's in everything. She's in everything.

01:00:49

I would love to know their networth.

01:00:51

Yeah. Like, watch out for them. Oh, you could also like, Pluck from the podcast world.

01:00:56

Yes, that's what I was thinking, too.

01:01:00

If you're looking to get creative.

01:01:04

We're not divisive at all.

01:01:06

We're America's sweethearts. We are. Everybody loves us.

01:01:11

You're seeing Double. I'm seeing Kelly Clarkson's replacement.

01:01:15

I actually was not.

01:01:16

No, no, me neither.

01:01:17

But like it- Amy Poehler.

01:01:19

She's crushing it.

01:01:20

She's crushing it. Why would she want to go and do that?

01:01:22

I actually don't think... Daytime is also a really specific format. Not everyone thrives in short, weird segments, overly produced.

01:01:30

No, it's just someone who's super smiley and friendly.

01:01:33

And who people in Hollywood really like. Yeah.

01:01:35

I think we thrown out some really good options, and I would give Katie Perry a test week. I would.

01:01:42

Yeah. She's an unlikely- Here's the thing.

01:01:44

Whatever she's going to do is going to be bananas, and it might be good bananas or terrible bananas, whatever. Move on.

01:01:50

First guest, Trudeau.

01:01:52

Of course. Of course. She's got friends in high places. She does. Yeah. Everybody loves her.

01:01:59

Literally. Okay. I don't think it's pink. I just want to say that.

01:02:03

We still have one more story, but that just felt final to me.

01:02:06

Oh, really? I knew we had another story. Let me see it. Is it a good one or should we skip it?

01:02:10

It's like a little T. I know you love this person. I do?

01:02:13

Okay, go.

01:02:14

I love saying her name.

01:02:15

I do love saying Shanna Mokler.

01:02:16

Shanna Mokler feels like lines were crossed when it came to coparenting with Courtney Kardashian and ex Travis Barker. So Shanna Mokler went on Brittany Carton Writes podcast.

01:02:27

Yes, we love to see Brittany making news. Day night.

01:02:30

When reality hits. And she said that... She's talking about co-parenting with Courtney. She said that she and Courtney have never had a conversation about co-parenting Travis's two kids, Alabama and Landon, who are Shanna's children as well. She said, I don't think any of those women... I don't think those women have those conversations with anybody. At one point in time, I felt like it wasn't respectful. I felt at certain times it was like, wow, if I had your kids, I wouldn't be doing some of the shit you're doing with my kids. I would make sure that if I was watching her children, I would have just made sure that lines weren't crossed, and I felt like there were some lines that were crossed. But it is what it is. It's happened, and I think we've all moved forward from it now. She emphasized that she wouldn't rule out the possibility of sitting down with Courtney to have a conversation about their coparenting preferences.

01:03:11

Going on a podcast and talking about Courtney and coparenting, it's not a good way to get her to sit down with you.

01:03:15

It's not going to make it better. She admitted, I don't talk to that family. I don't like that family.

01:03:19

Okay, yes. She definitely wants to talk to you. Based on the limited things that I know about Travis's kids with Shanna and their parenting agreement, It's that if Courtney was involved, it was for lack of- Just say what you want to say. I don't know many kids that live full-time with their dad. That's abnormal based on... As long as both parents are alive and functioning, it's a red flag. I think if Courtney was ever too involved, it's just because there was space for her to be too involved. I'm not going to crack on her. I do think sometimes step parents overstep. I don't think that's what this is, being like, I'm your mama. It's disrespectful. The kids have a mom. I think you need to be really sensitive about that. I feel like the girls would know that. I feel like what she's referring to is, I feel like these women talking about the Kardashians don't have those types of conversations because Dream was living with Chloe and coparenting Chloe and Rob. Again, I feel like in that situation, it was because there was space for Chloe to become that. I think China would admit at the time, and I think she has said publicly that she's very grateful to the Kardashians because now she's a healed woman and she's doing really, really well.

01:04:32

And she's a full-time parenting dream. But there was a time where she couldn't because of the space that she was in. And I think she actually feels very grateful to the Kardashian's for stepping in at a time when she couldn't. And so Shanna clowning on Courtney for being there when it seems like Shanna wasn't. Shut your mouth.

01:04:48

Yeah. I just feel like the girls are being criticized for being overly parental to all the children in their life.

01:04:57

I feel like they only do that when there is something I'm missing. Because this is a necessity. Yeah. Yeah. And I don't know, her going on a podcast like with Brittany Cartwright to talk shit about the woman whose house Alabama lives in. Alabama fucking loves Courtney.

01:05:11

No. And Courtney, I mean, people knock... But motherhood is so important to her. Parenthood. Also, she's talked so much about a blended family and step-parenthood. I can't imagine just knowing the characters in this situation and what their values are, of what we can know from just being fans. I I can imagine she tries to do right by it.

01:05:31

Obviously. And I think more typically when we talk about blended families, it's kids who come over every other weekend. It's not always both parents, the mom and the dad who are getting remarried, have custody of the kids unless someone's widowed or whatever. So I think that the way we think about blended families, I don't often think about it like this. And I feel like the things we've heard over the years about Shanna as a parent.

01:05:58

I don't really know anything It's always been implied that- She's just not present.

01:06:03

Not as present. Yeah. So it's like, now you're going on a podcast to talk shit about the woman who literally built a house so that there was rooms for your kids. Seriously, fuck off.

01:06:12

Yeah.

01:06:12

It's really weird.

01:06:13

And then, I don't know, And just going on a podcast. Yeah, exactly. It's not even your memoir. It's like someone else, not even your own podcast.

01:06:20

Agreed. The nature of this conversation puts me off even more. It's like being Team Courtney. Yeah.

01:06:25

Team Courtney.

01:06:26

So that's our show. Thank you so much for listening.

01:06:30

That's a wrap for today. Thank you so much for listening to the Desk.

01:06:32

I wanted you to look at the fast-time story. So it's a beautiful setting and wickedly talented we are.

01:06:44

Love you. Buh, bye. Stimmt, krass. Fühlt sich gar nicht wie Steuern an. Steuern erledigt? Safe. Mit Wieso Steuer.
