Olivia is filling in for Claudia today. Claudia had something come up this morning, and I was like, Trout, you're up. Today is such an exciting day of Toast because we have Super Bowl recap. You're a great girly to have for our Super Bowl post-show recap because you're the marketer. Yeah, I am. And you dabble in football.

I dabble. You dabble.

You have knowledge.

And we all watched Super Bowl together at my house last night.

You did an amazing job. It was a lovely day.

We had a great day. Okay, first of all, I just want to say the Super Bowl being at 6: 30 PM, never again, please. It was so not it. I expected that it would be late afternoon. So I was like, oh, we're going to be home all day preparing for the Super Bowl. The kids will be home. So I got a bouncy house for the backyard so that they could bounce all afternoon and we could watch the game and they could be bouncing. It would be so much fun. But the bouncy house left by the time the game actually started.

But it was a great- Which inadvertently worked out.

It did work out. And plus, the kids love to watch football, so it did work out. But when I thought to have a bouncy house, it was because I thought we would be watching football all day, which didn't happen. We didn't watch football until what would be their bedtime ordinarily.

You know what's crazy? It's just like it's wild how big of a difference that one hour makes because I feel like normally the Super Bowl starts maybe closer to 5: 30, and this was starting 6: 30-ish. And that one hour, people call it witching hour, but for a reason. It was just like we were waiting for the game to start, and it was like, do you eat dinner? But you should wait.

But we've also been eating all day. We've been eating all day. So what's dinner even? I really feel like for the parents, it was not mama friendly. It was not mama friendly.

That's what I actually... That was a big thing that I wanted to talk about.

And I saw other mamas saying this as well. So I don't even think we're just sharing our own experience. And the game was on in my house the entire time we had a Super Bowl watching. I wouldn't say it was a party, but a gathering. It was a gathering.

Yeah, but by the way, when you I did not watch- More kids than adults. It's not going to be a party.

I did not watch one minute of the game until the last quarter when everyone was finally in bed. I had showered, I got in bed and I watched the end of the Super Bowl by myself in bed.

I was going to say I really didn't watch that much of the game either. Also, the game wasn't interesting enough for people to really, I think, dedicate. There wasn't that much going on. The score was so low the whole time. So it was just like, oh, you knew that honestly, you could get up and tend to your kid or get a snack or go to the bathroom because what was even going on?

No, three bath times, three bedtimes all during the course of the Super Bowl. That was my Super Bowl. Bedtime last night was my Super Bowl.

A hundred %.

Well, we're going to talk all things Super Bowl, halftime show, ads, openers, Charlie Pooh Charlie. He crushed it, you guys. He really did.

He really did. So did Coco Jones.

Oh, amazingly beautiful. We will recap all of that in our stories. Of course, Super Bowl will be first story. So before we get into the stories, which I feel like we'll do in a timely fashion because that's the news of the day.

That's what people want to hear, what we have to say.

Yeah, but I can't just over the fact that Trout is in studio. How are you, dear Trout?

Dear Trout is doing so great, my darling. How are you?

I'm good.

It was really hard for me to introduce you as Olivia O'Shery By the way, I saw that come out of your mouth. I know. Awkwardly. It's like when your kids call me Olivia. It's very awkward for me to hear. I'm like, Whose name is that?

But people are listening, and if I just lead with Trout, it could be their first day of listening to The Toast They don't know what Trout is. It could also be their fifth year, and they still don't know that Trout is Olivia. So I had to address you by your legal name, but it's Trout.

My legal name. I always come on The Toast, and I say, and I really mean this when I say it, you guys are growing so fast that I feel like every time I come on here, people don't even know about the other sister. And it is me, Olivia Trout. No, but Margot, people know. Oh, you think? Because she's influencing queen.

You think you're the hidden sister?

No, I'm not saying I'm hidden. I'm just saying I think people More times than not, I feel like when people find out there's another sister, it's like me. Like, Oh, you have another one?

Oh, that's so interesting. I don't feel that way, but this is your lived experience. That's your truth.

I'm not going to take that. No, the real ones, no. But as you're growing so fast, as you're growing so fast, people are just like, Oh, who's that girl? Who's the fish?

If this is your first day of toast, Claudia and I are sisters. I think that's always a big shocker. Totally. And we are two out of four We are sisters. We are the two middle children. Classic. Olivia is our oldest.

But you are older than Claudia, and I feel like a lot of people don't know that either.

Olivia, Jackie, Claudia, and then Margot, who's Snitch, a. K. A. Sachi.

Right. And she's like- Olivia thinks you all already knew that. I do. And Ben is Claudia's husband, boy with no job, celebrity chef.

Boy with no job and girl with no job. They both have jobs, though.

I'm so happy to be here, though. It's just always such a fun time.

And I haven't co-hosted The Toast with you in a while.

I was here. Claudia and Ben, we did the first ever non-Jacquie and Claudia episode, which was incredibly well received. So thank you. We had so much fun that day, too.

Yeah. What was that day?

Claudia had something and you were on maternity leave.

She was sick, maybe? No. I think I literally was giving birth that day. She was sick, yes. And I was on maternity leave already. And I think I went to... I had my doctor's appointment that morning that eventually put me into the process of labor.

Got it. Yeah, I don't remember what the date was about.

If I was just on my maternity leave before I gave birth, I could have just done the toast. But no, I think I was out of commish.

Oh, I remember something about it, actually. Something about it was... It was early November. Yeah, that's when I gave birth. All of the stories were about November third, because that was when Kraft Heinz came out with some weird... And I said something like, November third, big day. And everybody read into it and they were like, That was the day of Jackie had her baby. And I'm like, no, it's just like, November third came up in a bunch of stories.

People think we leave so many clues.

We're Taylor Swift. I can only speak for myself. I shouldn't say we. Way too lazy to think about leaving a fucking hint anywhere about anything. Just going about living our lives.

Yeah, just more so going about living our lives.

I think people are just also so accustomed to trying to read into everything thinking it means more than it actually does. When I'm just here to tell you, with respect to my life, it means nada.

It's paranoia, I I think. Sometimes we were talking about that when Claudia did Massinger. Because of course, people realized that it was Claudia. But then they also felt like on Wednesdays, that was the day Massinger was airing. Claudia usually does the ads. But the last few Wednesdays, I was doing the ads without Claudia, and they thought it was because Claudia couldn't do the ads on days where Massinger was airing.

It's seriously not that serious. That's what I'm saying.

It was more so she was rushing to a music class, so I just did them so that she could get out of here earlier.

You know what I mean? Of course. Of course. And that's the thing. It's like, that's why you can't assume because you make an ass out of you and me.

Yes, I did. And honestly, Everybody really had a great time.

You like the farmer's market. I feel like sometimes it just also you have a new baby, but it just hasn't always jived with your schedule.

I haven't been to the Farmer's Market in a while. And I remember when I was going to the Farmer's Market more often, a year ago.

When I was forcing you to come with me every weekend?

Yeah. I remember I would talk about it a lot on the toast, just the inner conflict I feel at the farmer's market. And when I was back there this weekend, I felt it again because It's really hard for me to want to consume things from people's personal kitchens.

By the way, I said that- And people I don't know. By the way, do you remember that I said that on an episode of The Toast? It's like, if people knew you back in the day, you were the girl that really only ate stuff that was packaged up and sealed. You would never eat something that was homemade. It used to be like that, and now you make everything from scratch and whatnot.

But it's different. I still feel like, who is this stranger? What goes on in their kitchen?

It's incredibly fair.

The things in the farmer's market, they aren't regulated, right?

No, a lot of them are not. And it says it on there. It'll say this was made in somebody's house. I bought a jam once And it was so tasty. And then I looked at the label and it was like, I actually should look up the exact verbiage, but it basically said that this is not made with any oversight whatsoever.

And when it's your friend or your family, it's like, Oh, well, I trust this person. I've seen them wash their hands.

The thing about the farmer's market is that it is the same vendors week over week over week that I do feel like if somebody had, God forbid, gotten sick or there was an issue, do you know what I mean?

I don't think it would get sick or there would be an issue. I just think it could yucky and you would never know.

It could be, but your body is handling it fine.

Yeah, no, not about getting sick, but just about the yuckiness. But there are- So many things are yucky. Yes. And there are things at the farmer's market, like the produce.

The produce and the eggs, amazing. And that is predominantly what I go for.

I remember I bought eggs from farm. What are they there? Like farm fresh eggs. The blue eggs? Yeah. I remember last year, I bought eggs from the farmer's market. I don't know if I ever used them. They just sat on my counter staring at me because I was like, I don't know what's in these eggs. Who is this farmer?

But that's any...

Deer farmer.

Deer farmer is probably better than like...

No, no. Other eggs have oversight.

But that oversight, I feel like sometimes it's actually worse. I agree. No, no.

That's why... What I can say inner conflict. There's one guy at the farmer's market.

He has a bakery, and he has a bakery, and he used to have a storefront. And then now he just does the Farmer's Market circuit. So I'm like, I feel like your baked goods are legit because you understand. He probably cooks in a commercial kitchen. His pastries are delicious. But I'm predominantly going for the produce and the- You just have to have faith. Yeah, or things- I get like, honey, like things that are just maybe in jars or bottles. Does that make a difference?

No, I know. But so you agree, like there's an element of suss?

Thousand %. Okay. Yeah.

And so I was remembering my inner conflict on this suspiciousness.

But I personally am not the type of person that's buying Ceviche at the farmer's market. You know what I mean? There is a line that I draw. I understand. There's like pastries, things in bottles. Ben also really I like the barbecue sauce guy. I own some of his barbecue sauces. The honey is the best from the farmer's market. I feel like people see me use it all the time. It's pricey. So I feel like he's working really hard to suck that honey out of the bees. Do you know what I mean? I'm like, Oh, I'm going to support this local business.

Yeah. Have you heard that old adage, You can't eat in everybody's kitchen?

No, but I'm sure you have.

Yeah. It's like a saying, I want to get the...

It's so funny. Why? Because everybody's yucky?

Yeah. Eat in everybody's kitchen. Yeah, you can eat at everybody's house. Yeah.

I will also say, though. That's how I feel. Being outside, everybody, there's music. Oh, I was there for the vibes. It's a big grassy knoll.

I was there for the vibes, and you were like, Oh, your eggs are here. I'm like, I can't carry eggs. I'm having a baby shop to me. I'm here for vibes. We're not shopping.

And I love that for you.

Yeah. No, and the vibes were high. We had a great time. We went out to lunch. It was just a beautiful day.

A beautiful day. We had the best time. I agree. And the weather has been so fabulous. I know it's hard to say that because the weather is not so nice in other places in the country, but down here, magical. Yeah, our favorite. Our favorite time of year.

And then rolling into Super Bowl Sunday, Super Bounce.

I mean, yesterday was a busy day. The kids went from a birthday party and whatnot to Bounce Bowl at Jacky O's.

That's what we called it. We called it Bounce Bowl. Yeah. Feel free to use that.

No, honestly, feel free to get a Bouncy house and let the kids roam free while the parents like, nosh, watch. And we were also quasi watching Olympics. It was actually a pretty relaxing afternoon.

Yeah, I was hoping we would play a little mage, but we didn't get around to it. And that's okay because I already was overwhelmed.

Well, you had a lot going on in your house.

Hosting. There was so much food.

Too much food. And any time Ben makes anything, he just makes his mess. So you got to clean up after Ben.

And I forgot to empty the dishwasher before everyone came over. So there was a full dishwasher of clean dishes. So nobody emptied it. And everyone just like, Oh, we'll hand wash.

I a couple of times had I've heard like, Is this clean? I'm like, I have no idea. Go ask Jackie.

That was my nightmare.

Handwash is your worst nightmare. Yeah.

Everyone like, handwashes it and leaves it dry.

My husband handwashed all your plates on Thanksgiving.

And then I put them in the dishwasher after everyone left. I'm sorry, but those plates, and they were the turkey plates. I'm not going to use them again for a year.

I think he thought that they weren't like, they were too nice to go in the dishwasher, too. You do have a lot of nice stuff that doesn't dishwash.

Everyone was like, trying to be helpful, and you can only put so much stuff in the dishwasher. But I was like, it's worth doing multiple loads.

You can only put so much in the dishwasher when Ben Soffer is making a dish in your house. And by the way, his cowboy caviar was delicious.

It's so good.

It took him two hours to make with every utensil in Jackie's house. Yeah.

I have to say, just talking about what we were talking about before, My cup is not any inclination about who I was rooting for or whatnot. But I actually will say I loved that the Super Bowl was like, Battle of the Brews.

Battle of the Brews. So Super Bowl 2026, Seahawks dominate Patriots for a second Championship. So who were you rooting for?

So I was rooting for the Patriots, actually. And in the Battle of the Brews, that was actually really hard for me because I ride harder than most for Starbucks. I'm a Starbucks girly, but I just feel like I have a deep appreciation for Robert Kraft in my heart, even though that Super Bowl ad was an abomination. We can talk about that.

But I- Honestly, I don't want to talk about it because it's too upsetting.

I'm just saying in general- It's so not the vibe.

I also love Drake May. I love Anne Michael. I love watching her cooking videos. I was just rooting for them. I didn't have a real steak in the game, but if I had to pick somebody, I was going New England. I also felt like because we are East coasters, it was an East Coast versus West Coast battle. I'm an East coaster. Not that I didn't. And then there were such cute stories of people coming out from the Seahawks. Sam Darnold used to be on the Jets. Why couldn't you make a go of it when you were on the Jets?

Why couldn't you get to the Super Bowl with the Jets? Sharks First Jets.

Our dad would have loved that.

A Sharks First Jets Super Bowl is what I'm looking for.

What does that mean?

It's so great that you asked that. I feel like you're speaking for the people. Claudina, I can't talk about the Jets without Sharks versus Jets. There's a Po-dunk, Bring It On remake, the seventh one.

Oh my God. That's too niche for me.

I think a lot of people are probably really grateful for the clarification today. But yes, I think Bring It On 7 was two different rival cheerleading teams called the Sharks and the Jets.

You know what's so funny? Some of the shit you guys say, it's so wild to me that you and I are only a year and a half apart, and Claudia and I are three years apart, and we all grew up in the same house because what the fuck were you guys watching? And where was I?

I don't know. I don't think you stood around for Sharks.

So many things. There's that other education Disney song.

I am Lizzie McGuire, for sure.

Lizzie is your year. For sure.

Because I'm like, Lizzie. And by the way, that's why people my age are dying over the Hillary renaissance. Those songs really shaped our childhood.

Her songs did. But Lizzie's self is a little like a year ahead of me.

People went abroad because of her experience experience, you know? Yeah. In the Lizzie Maguire movie.

Yes. No, all of that. But yeah, there is a little bit of a generational gap, I guess.

But how? Do you know what I mean? We are so close in age.

No, but that was probably the year when you were locking us out of your room. Yeah. Listening to your awesome music. Seriously. Okay, but I shared a room with you, you know? Yeah, but I think you were like, you had one foot out the door at that point. Maybe. Yeah, you were out in the world. The streets raised you.

I'm sure that's another toast.

No, no, it's generating a lot. But I do appreciate the clarification. Okay, let's get to the entertainment, which is why we're here. Anyways, the game gamed. I don't think it was a particularly good Super Bowl, but the teams played well because they really couldn't get a point off one another.

Seahawks-one- The defense played well. The defense. The offense was... I mean, the Patriots offense was really sad. Oh, your nails look so nice.

Oh, thank you so much. I'll give you this color. It doesn't suit me. I like it. I will also say I love to talk about football as the football expert that I am, but I barely watched the game last night, so I'm not even going to offend guys with my take on the football because I can admit I'm uneducated as I did not watch the game until the end.

Yeah, it was a bad game. It was boring as hell.

Entertainment. So opening, show opening, we had Charlie Pooth singing the National Anthem, which I was really jazzed for because I think, like Taylor Swift, I think Charlie Pooth is underrated. I thought he was amazing.

I thought he was amazing, too.

I was so proud of Charlie.

And I, when I used to lock you out of my room, I used to just watch renditions of- Charlie Pooth videos? No, All of the national anthem, Super Bowl, that Whitney video was so iconic for me. And I thought he just did an amazing job. The production around it was great, but then at the same time also simple. I also did feel a little bit production-wise. They showed everybody in the audience and didn't focus enough on Charlie, but whatever. His voice and just the choir of it all. I thought it was very good. A beautiful start to the game. A beautiful start to a boring game.

They introduced him as a multi-award-winning singer and composer. I feel like the composition element was what really made this so beautiful. He is a musical genius. You know that about him? No, I don't actually. He has perfect pitch. He is like a music theory genius. He also has a nice voice, so he sings. But it's more So he's more on the back end of music.

We love back end piece.

And altogether, it made for a really beautiful and I think, memorable performance. I think everybody was really impressed.

Yeah, totally. Also because I feel like he was the type of person that people weren't I'm overwhelmingly excited for or not excited for.

Then the TV turned off, and then it turned back on. By the time we turned the TV back on, the Seahawks were up 3: 0. We literally just didn't even watch Kick Off because we were turning... I'm telling you, it was a mess. It was a mess.

But I do feel like a lot of people have the same experience.

I didn't want to see the bits and bobs. So I've been avoiding spoilers. I had seen Lady Gaga join, but I didn't even know what she's saying. I didn't want to see anything. I didn't want to see people's opinions before I formed my own. So I literally watched it this morning. I don't even know what everyone is saying, but I think it's been pretty well received.

I thought it was so much fun and upbeat, colorful, beautiful to look at. I thought the set design was great. For me, if I knew the songs, I would have liked it even more. But even without knowing the songs, it was just fun, beaty.

Yeah, totally. And I think the one thing this was a point that I wanted to make because we did go to a Super Bowl once. We did. And the Super Bowl halftime performance show is really made for everybody at home. It actually is not such a great experience for people who are there because a lot of the production is around... Remember, it was Justin Timberlake, and it was like, because it was weird for us because so much of the production was happening TV-wise, but people were like, This was amazing. I'm like, Wow, you had a totally different experience at home than we did. I actually feel like from what I'm seeing online, because again, I've only seen Bits & Bobs. I think it was an amazing experience for people that were there. I think it was an amazing experience for people that were home. I think that's something really hard to do.

Yeah. Also, there was a bunch of cameos. First, there was a house full of celebs.

Alex Earle. I saw her dancing.

Cardi B. Who else? Jessica Alba.

Pedro Pascal. Yeah, it was fun. It was like Where's Waldo of celebrities, which was really a fun tie-in.

Well, the other thing I saw, because, again, I totally understand and respect your opinion of not wanting to ruin stuff online for yourself. But I had the similar experience when it was the national Championship game with Miami versus Indiana. And the whole time, I didn't give a shit about the game because I didn't go to either of those schools. And then after the fact online, I saw all these amazing things about that kid from Indiana and his family. And I was just like, Oh, my God, I would have been rooting for Indiana the whole time. Like, wow, what a story. So Bad Bunny, literally 10 years ago in 2016, the year of 2016, he was literally bagging groceries at a grocery store, uploading his music online. And then 10 years later, performing at the Super Bowl. Like, what a story. That is the American dream, if I'm being honest. So very full circle. Never give up on your dream.

Yeah. And there was There's a lot of good information on the internet of some of the cultural symbolism that maybe... And again, I need to watch it in full. And now actually knowing some of that stuff, I'm excited to watch it through that lens, too. Yeah.

There's things to learn, but also just face value. You could see how it was such a celebration of his culture, and it was really beautiful. And I just loved it. It felt like one big party.

It made everyone stop and stare. And it was like, we didn't know what we were watching, but whatever it was going to be, we were going to remember it. So when it's just Coinbase, rock your body, right?

Yeah. Yeah. And also the Backsheep Boys had a big moment. Every other ad was about them. Another millennial renaissance. It's the year of the millennial, baby. Call me Chugi all you want. But yeah, no, I feel like I need to go home. There are so many things I need to watch. But then if you think about that in the context of people paying seven million dollars just for the ad spot, knowing that people are not going to just be glued. It is interesting from a marketing spend perspective.

I thought those Claude ads, have you been seeing them on the internet? No. These are some that I saw pre because there's a lot of commentary around them. So as a ChatGPT girly, I feel like I'm so knee deep in my AI that I can't fathom any other AI platforms. But Claude basically did a whole stream of ads making fun of ChatGPT's announced ad model. And they would be pretending as if your AI was talking to you, helping you with something, and they're like, insert an ad. It's actually much better when you watch it versus me describing it. But all that to say, I mean, the AI companies, they came out in full force at the Super Bowl. It's always interesting to see what the groupings of people are. I thought the manscaped out was really funny where they like, did you see the hairball one? The hair was singing.

She was going on some brand trips and doing brand deals. Really, all the stuff that is so influencer now was so foreign back then. I remember when Claudia didn't have a way to describe even what she was doing to people. I remember when she was not going to go get a full-time job, and that was blasphemous. Now, nobody wants a full-time job, and everyone wants to be a fucking It's just interesting to see 10 plus years later, how somebody else is navigating that in this new influencer economy. It reminds me a lot of Claudia, the things that she's doing or testing. Yeah. So I got the memo. I watched the opening ceremony, not live. With opening ceremonies, it's like a Super Bowl halftime show. Like, bar is very high. Sometimes they miss the mark. I was thrown back to that forlorn Paris opening ceremony that was so terrible. Right. So I was like, I didn't know what to expect from Milan Cortina, and I loved it.

But it's Milan Cortina. I guess actually you could say Paris.

I thought Milan Cortina was beautifully done. Love. There were so many things that were just gorgeous and so artfully done. And obviously, it was all- It's Milan Cortina. It's Milan cortina. So much about fashion, art. But it's like, how are you also going to implement pasta into the opening ceremony. Espresso.

Did they? Yeah, they had. I can't wait to watch.

That's amazing. They did this. One of the bigger moments, it was probably a big chunk of the show, is they're three great composers, and they were dancing in the Shape of the Fibonacci sequence, which was also part of the Duncan commercial last night. And I was like, Oh, my God, that was opening ceremony. Synergy. And then they had all of these different dancers come out, and a group of dancers were dressed as colorful Espresso Dressos. A group of dancers were dressed as colorful buildings to celebrate the architecture. And it was just very on the nose and very cute. And then it was all about color, and it was very beautiful. Love that. One of my favorite parts. And then it's like, How are they going celebrate fashion and Milan Fashion Week? They had rows of models, supermodels, a row of supermodels dressed in red Armani suits because Armani is Milano. A row of supermodels dressed in white Armani suits and a row of supermodels dressed in the green of the flag. So they looked like the Italian flag. They're walking down the road, and the way these supermodels dressed as the Italian flag. And then the last model is Leo's girlfriend, Victoria Cioretti.

She's dressed in a beautiful white dress, carrying the Italian flag. She gives it for the flag raising. It was just a beautiful way to celebrate their country.

Yeah, which is amazing.

I have no notes. It was great. I feel like it accomplished everything that an opening ceremony should do, which is highlight the culture of the place that's happening the ceremony. Andrea Bocelli sang. Oh, king. It was beautiful. Mariah Carey sang.

How'd she do? She sounded amazing. I was actually shocked that she sang because I don't know why I feel like she doesn't sing anymore. I agree with that. But also that's very different, I think, in Italy than it is here. Then they're not states in the same way, but LA is very representative, I feel like, or just having it in different places in America of the US. Milan and Rome, they could be two different worlds. That's why they always say when you travel to Italy, you should go to multiple places.

It's about the host country. I I think that- I get that. Who do you think would be the right performers for LA? Of course, your mind goes Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, but I don't know that they sum up all of America. Then I was like, I think it has to be someone older. A lot of the people I was thinking have passed.
