Good morning, girlies. It's The Toast. It's Jackson Claude, and we're your hosts. It's your favorite show, the fast five things you need to know. We'll start your day off swirly, it's The Toast.

00:00:22

They sound amazing.

00:00:24

Welcome back to The Toast, and happy Tuesday. Hope everybody's having a day that is both part of delicious. And definition. And speaking of parjoliciousness and definitionist, I am honored, humbled to introduce today's guest, Jacquelyne Follet. Hello, Jacquelyne. Welcome to the show.

00:00:40

Hey, turdy Lou. Happy to be here.

00:00:42

Okay, cable knit.

00:00:43

Okay, stripes.

00:00:45

Oh, I'm so glad you brought up my shirt. And I didn't bring up your shirt just to talk about my shirt. Don't you feel like everybody's talking about my shirt today?

00:00:50

We're definitely all noticing that you're wearing a new shirt. A new shirt. What seems to be a new shirt. I'm not going to presume.

00:00:55

Now, I'm sorry to the cardboard cadets. This is not from Nordstrom Rack, but my cardboard cadets will be pleased to know this shirt is also under $50. I went to Mango. Mango is so like having a moment. Was it at the Mall? At the Mall, I went to Mango, and I just tried on a couple of things. Now, I want to shout out Mango for having reasonably priced clothing that is not ugly. I think that's important. But I do want to just tell Mango, small, medium, large, that's crazy. That's crazy small, medium, large. What about other sizes outside of that? So yeah, the shirt's a little tight, but I just needed shirts. And so I went to Mango. No, it fits.

00:01:28

Sometimes when you go too big, You get that bulk here. That's what I'm dealing with. I want bigger sizes, but I don't want extra bulk here.

00:01:36

There's nothing better than a big shirt. Do you know what I mean?

00:01:38

A shirt, yes. But that, if it were too big, would not be good. I think it looks nice on you.

00:01:43

Thank you. So I do feel like everyone's talking about my new shirt.

00:01:47

Well, we're excited that you have a new shirt and that you're feeling coachy self.

00:01:51

Yeah. And I went to the mall, and it's just malls are amazing.

00:01:54

They are. Oh, my goodness. It's really sad what's happened to them.

00:01:57

They're a thing of the past, right? They're phasing out.

00:02:00

Yeah, especially traditional malls. Now, your mall has to be like a ratata, like a theme park.

00:02:06

Yeah, like the American Dream Mall. It has a water slide and Legoland, and it's also a mall.

00:02:11

And even American Dream, I think, suffers. I think they suffer.

00:02:14

American Dream is in financial ruin.

00:02:15

I think they suffer in silence. I think they put on a strong face.

00:02:18

I feel like it's quite loud. I feel like we're always hearing about how the New Jersey, whatever it's called, American Dream Mall, is in financial despair, the people who built it are living in poverty. There's always stories about that I feel like they put on a brave face.

00:02:31

They're always sending out emails about what Spongebob is doing.

00:02:34

Mr. Beast recorded a huge video there.

00:02:36

They act like nothing's wrong, but I think they're suffering.

00:02:39

Yeah. I mean, I, for one, I'm glad I didn't ever get into the mall business. But as a mall patron, I went to the mall over the weekend, and I just had such an amazing time. And Ben was striking out. Every store we went to, he just didn't want it that badly. Sometimes you have to go to the mall with a mission, and I went to the mall with a mission. I'm like, I'm not trying things on. If it looks like it fits, it will fit. I went to Mango. I went I went to a couple of stores just to get toast clothing, and I crushed it. Every store. I got close to Tommy Bahama. I was crushing it, and Ben was just like, They don't know my size. I was like, I feel like you don't want it bad enough. He was being such a sourpuss.

00:03:13

He didn't want it. He had mall brands. My sweat Aerie.

00:03:16

Okay. I walked into- I feel like people would be shocked to that. I walked into an Aerie.

00:03:21

Aerie. And? I think it was gifted a year ago, and I wore it all last winter.

00:03:27

You know what they call that sweater?

00:03:29

Cablement?

00:03:30

Well, technically, yes. But you know what other people call it? What? The Rory Gilmore Sweater. Oh, cute.

00:03:35

And then I forgot that I had it, but it's been so chilly down here that I'm excited to be wearing it today. It's a great sweater.

00:03:42

You look beautiful.

00:03:43

Thank you. As do you.

00:03:45

Dazzling.

00:03:46

You know what I did last night? I did something crazy. Crack? Crazier. Death? Crazier. I took a bath.

00:03:55

Oh, my God. That is really crazy of you because I also took a bath, but that's a nightly occurrence.

00:04:02

I haven't taken a bath.

00:04:03

You guys, Jackie has this amazing bath. It's in the corner. It's by a window. There's art over it. It has multiple faucets. She never uses it. I've probably used your bath just as many times as you have.

00:04:15

Probably. I haven't taken a bath, certainly in over a year, because I didn't take one while I was pregnant, and I didn't take one since I've given birth because I only went to my 6-week, 10-week appointment last week. But my body is just It was like, weight hurting, aching, almost like- Every time for a bath. Body aches, but I don't have the rest of a sickness. I feel like I'm fighting something off, but it's taking a toll on my joint.

00:04:38

So you had to take it to the bath.

00:04:40

So I was like, Oh, my God, I need a soak. So I took a bath.

00:04:44

Did you wet your hair or no?

00:04:44

No, no, no. A wetding, your washing your hair is for the shower. That's an Olympic sport, washing your hair in the tub. Especially, I take a really hot bath. So when I get up, you get like, dizzy when you get out of the bath. I need to then lay down.

00:04:59

Quite You're really a Victorian woman. You are not built for this time. Yeah. Where's Jackie? She couldn't make it to dinner. She had taken a warm bath. My bath was too hot. That's literally what happens in those shows, like the empress. Yes, exactly. She gets like, woozy or like, when a woman's outside, they're like, Are you okay?

00:05:15

Yeah.

00:05:16

That's you.

00:05:16

But I enjoyed my bath, my yearly bath. That's great. I'll see you again next year bath.

00:05:21

I can't even picture you in the bath.

00:05:24

And it's like, what do you really do? And every time I'm in the bath, I need one of those pillows that I get Instagram ads for that prop up my back because what? I'm going to lay with my neck on the ledge, like I'm washing my hair at the salon.

00:05:36

So when you do take a bath and you commit to not wetting your hair, it's definitely less relaxing because just being able to lean back and get your hair wet is very relaxing. I got one. Actually, Taylor Strecker got me one of those pillows for my birthday because she had one in her house, and I was like, Wait, that's amazing. She got me one. I have to tell you, and shout out to Taylor, it was an amazing gift for two months. It became such a chore. First of all, it became smelly. And once it became smelly, I got rid of it. But you really, in order to properly take care of it, need to take it out of the bath every time you use it and air dry it.

00:06:04

And I was like- But when it was in the bath, did it do what you needed it to do?

00:06:09

No, because the pillow itself does get a little wet. So if you really lean back on it fully, your hair gets wet.

00:06:13

Oh, but take that out. Was it cozy? Yes. So maybe I should get one for my yearly bath. It has a year to dry.

00:06:20

Yeah, but you're going to put it outside, and it's this big, heavy, soaking wet thing. Oh. Yeah, it's not all it's cracked up to be. Sorry, Taylor Strecker. And I know it's expensive, too.

00:06:28

Well, it's the thought that A very good gift.

00:06:31

She spoke to the Strecker this morning.

00:06:33

How are they doing? Amazing.

00:06:34

How's Baby Strecker? They're doing amazing. They're loving every minute. Taylor Strecker keeps calling herself dad, which is cracking me up. And they actually said, I don't want to spoil because they're probably going to talk about it on their podcast, but the birth certificate, they have to get it. There's an error on it. Because there are two women, it says parent one and parent two. Then when they printed it, it said mom and dad. It actually says dad on there, which it can't be. It has to legally be correct. She's calling herself dad, and it's so funny.

00:07:00

Because she was dad.

00:07:01

And she has taken on this fatherly role. She spoke a lot when I was on her podcast and just in her podcast in general, about how she was struggling with that identity. But she's like, she is dad. Like she's dad. She's literally about to get a tool belt. Like she's dad. It's hilarious. And she's like doing night feedings because she's the dad.

00:07:17

Oh, that's funny. She's on diaper duty.

00:07:19

Dad. Dad stuff.

00:07:21

Hysterical stuff. I also have a newborn who eats every 3 hours again. Oh, yeah.

00:07:25

But you actually do have a newborn.

00:07:26

He's only like 11 weeks old. Yeah. He is. Well, how old is he?

00:07:30

Let me guess.

00:07:32

Let me guess.

00:07:33

14 weeks.

00:07:34

No less. I think he's 12 weeks.

00:07:38

And it's confusing because I feel like my whole life I've been told that there's four weeks in a month, and then you have a four-week-old, but you don't have a one month old.

00:07:46

Well, it's funny you bring that up because I don't know if you've seen the stats on this February.

00:07:52

Oh, is it a historic February?

00:07:53

Look at the calendar.

00:07:55

Oh, is it full four weeks?

00:07:56

It's blocks. Oh, I like that. Because it's 28 days, that's how the month should look.

00:08:02

I completely agree.

00:08:03

Now, that's a month.

00:08:05

That's a month. You know what's given? Month. Yeah. It's like every week is Monday to Sunday, Monday to Sunday, Monday to Sunday.

00:08:10

The first is a Sunday, and then the last day of the month is the Saturday. I love that. It's a beautiful month. Enjoy it, everyone.

00:08:17

I didn't even... Much like Cynthia Reevo, I did not know that was happening.

00:08:21

For those of us who are into months, it's major news.

00:08:23

I feel like this is big news for people with planners.

00:08:26

It is. And then March first will start on a Sunday, so that looks nice up until the three straggler days.

00:08:31

That's nice. I like that.

00:08:33

Yeah. So if you're... I actually want to get out my big calendar. We've been making so many plans. You saw it just when I showed you my phone. It looks very busy, right?

00:08:40

I feel like you should talk about how your life is so enriched since I decided not to leave. Why don't you talk about that?

00:08:45

Oh, my life is so enriched. I'm so busy. Zack is like, Is this going to be like an every... Like, is this your new schedule now?

00:08:53

We were just talking about maybe we were going to go shopping today.

00:08:55

And I was like, Well, while Claudia is here, yeah, we just have so many things to do. So much fun to be had.

00:09:01

I just want to make sure I'm not overwhelming you because you do still have a newborn in the house.

00:09:03

No, I'm definitely overwhelmed, but I think that it's good for me.

00:09:06

Me too.

00:09:07

I did say my bones feel weary. You've run me down so much. I had to take a bath last night. She needs to take calcium. But I think overall It's really good. I'm having a really good time.

00:09:16

And you just let me know if you need us to scale it back. We could also do more low-key activities. We can just also lay around your house.

00:09:22

That's one of my favorite things. But going to the mall with the babies is a good activity for me because I'm with my baby, and we are doing something for I love that. Yeah. No, I'm definitely overwhelmed, but I think busy is good. And it's just crazy how I literally convalesced for three months after I had Harry. I did not leave the house. The first time, my big outing was your show at MSG, and that was in May. Oh, wow.

00:09:47

I don't know if I realized that my big night was also a big night for you?

00:09:50

It was a big... I remember I was like, I took my pumps out. Now I would be like, I'm going out for a few hours. I'll skip a pump. Yeah, of course. I had Harry in February, and that was my big... Was May. Then Then I remember with Charlie, that was when I started using the baby carrier more because you have a child. You have to get... You can't just be home. Now it's like, really, the bubble is bursting.

00:10:08

I feel like it makes it go by a little faster, the hard part.

00:10:11

It does, but you also want to soak it up. I know. It's an The eternal conflict.

00:10:16

Age-old dilemma.

00:10:18

I try and soak up as much as I can. Then I'm like, ratata, mama's got to go.

00:10:21

Ratata, ratata.

00:10:22

And he's coming with. Yeah, of course. He's coming with. We got a carrier in every color. Okay, good. Matchy outfit.

00:10:28

I'm glad that we're We are having fun.

00:10:31

We are having fun.

00:10:31

I will go home when we stop having fun. I think that's a good...

00:10:34

But we'll never stop having. But then you'll never come back.

00:10:36

No, but we never stop having fun. That's true. So I guess I'll never go home.

00:10:40

But also, if you wait till you hate me, then you'll never come back. You have to leave on a high.

00:10:44

Well, that is what I do. But that also happened when I was staying at your house. Now that we're in our own little place, it's better. When I was staying at your house, I would stay until I actually could not stand you or your family. And then I wouldn't come back for months because I was like, I can't stand these people still.

00:10:56

Right. So maybe leave on a high.

00:10:57

Should I go home today? No, we have- You hear they're not taking out the trash in New York. I was just talking to... Your friend? What was he talking to? I talked to a lot of people this morning. I was rolling- It sounds like it. Yeah, shout out to Alicia. I had to check in on my bestie who just had a baby, had to check in on those trekkers. It's important to check in on people. I heard about the garbage pickup. Garbage has to be picked up in New York, I think, in 10 days. So the streets are covered in ice and garbage. I ain't running home. I ain't running home.

00:11:25

No, you're needed here. We've got plans.

00:11:27

I mean, look at me. I'm I'm like a social chair of South Florida. I'm like, should we go to dinner? I'm like, so you think we should go out to dinner this week.

00:11:36

Oh, you do girls or couples?

00:11:38

Okay. So I'm actually glad you brought that up because I was thinking we should do couples because every day, I'm like, Ben, I'm going here, I'm going there. I'm doing a lot of things, and he's being like a house frow. So I want to get Ben out of the house. We have reverse roles.

00:11:51

You want to get Ben out of the house.

00:11:52

Yeah, I want to get Ben out of the house. So it's like, okay, maybe we go with husbands. And then it's just a reservation for eight people. It's like so many people.

00:11:58

And then you also have to get a sitter. I like girls because- I was just going to drop my kids at your house. Oh, yeah. But then my husband's home, and I feel I can really enjoy myself. I feel like that's what we always suggest on your tosters. And it's like, I don't... I'm sorry, Zack, but this is how I can have more fun. I totally agree. And it's not because I need to be just with the girls, but it's like, I don't want to deal with all that.

00:12:22

Yes. No, the best feeling is going and having fun while your husband is home. I know that's mean, but with the baby, no one... The best thing after me is It's a tip. Yeah. Yeah.

00:12:30

No, I totally agree. So you really have peace of mind.

00:12:33

Okay, so I'll go to a girls dinner. This is where I am.

00:12:35

Sounds good. But then every time I went out at night twice last week, and I was like, This is not for me. I actually agree. Catch me during the day.

00:12:42

I don't love going out at night.

00:12:43

Me neither. But I do want to go out to dinner. Maybe when it's almost daylight savings, like in a month, and then it will start to be lighter later, and maybe then going out to dinner will feel better. It won't be pitch black.

00:12:54

If I'm still here.

00:12:55

Oh, true.

00:12:56

Yeah, you're making big plans. Slow down. No, no.

00:12:58

But Claudia, you have to say for daylight savings. It's It's true. It really is so impactful here. When we get more daylight because we can really use it because the weather is good, you'll love it.

00:13:07

You know what it sounds like you've been doing?

00:13:10

Making big, big plans.

00:13:12

You are so close. Praying for daylight. You were so close.

00:13:21

Yeah. Yeah. Praying for daylight in Rascal Flatts.

00:13:24

Oh my God. Yes. So we are going to the Rascal Flatts concert, and that is technically why I am still here because I was not coming back. We'll reevaluate after Rascal Flatts.

00:13:32

They better put on a heck of a show. Oh, my God.

00:13:34

We got to talk about that, too. We have to talk about this.

00:13:36

Okay, so I'm not worried. Me neither. Rascal Platz, Gary Lvox is going viral.

00:13:41

The lead singer of Rascal Platz.

00:13:42

For one of his performances, someone filmed him and posted it, and they said he was like, hooting and hollering.

00:13:47

Is anybody into Rascal Platz concert recently? Because he's just up there hooting and hollering.

00:13:51

And he was like, off key and all over the place, and it was a mess. I watched the videos, and I can confirm it was messy. However, I give him There's no question, there's no doubt that he is the most talented vocalist. If something happened that night to throw him off, whether it was the drink, whether it was the audio, Alex Warren style, that It's not Gary's self.

00:14:16

It's annoying that Gary's Bad Night gets so much PR. When Gary has night after night, Margot just went like, he crushes it every single time. Now we are going- It's so true.

00:14:25

That's such a negative society we live in. I know. They get no positive accolades. Shine for what he does Night After Night, and he slays. The one time he's... I can't even say what was happening.

00:14:37

The thing is, he's been singing these songs for 30 years. Sorry he tried something different. Don't make fun of the girl who took a chance.

00:14:46

He always riffs, and it's part of your relationship. He was challenging himself creatively. He was just off. I think he couldn't hear or he was drunk. Let's just say.

00:14:54

You know what? You would do it, too. If you're touring with the same band, singing the same song for 50 years.

00:14:58

If my life was listening Rascal Flatts all day, every day.

00:15:01

I don't know if you would feel that way if you were Rascal Flatts, though.

00:15:04

That must be how people feel, maybe, about the toast.

00:15:07

No, no, no, no. Don't make Rascal's problem our problem.

00:15:10

No, no. If people... I am to Rascal Flatts, what the tosters are to the toast.

00:15:20

Yeah, it's called a fan.

00:15:24

I feel like you didn't understand what I was saying.

00:15:27

I just do. While we're on the topic, I have two requests for Rascal I do know that people in the Rascal Flatts orbit listens to this show. So we are coming to the show, and I need you to do two things for me.

00:15:35

We're coming to the show. We don't need our tickets yet. Come in, please.

00:15:38

Oh, sorry. I need you to do three things for me.

00:15:39

I need tickets. And we want- We want front row tickets. We're having a hard time finding them. The thing is, we're having a big group. That's the problem.

00:15:45

We need 10 front row tickets.

00:15:47

And there's not 10 empty seats right now.

00:15:49

It's the age-old question. We should leave the husband's at home, except that it's Valentine's Day.

00:15:53

No, and I turned Zack into the biggest Rascal Flats fan. He's not staying home.

00:15:57

Ben could stay home, honestly. He's like, I'll go for you. But okay, so I need three things. I need 10 front row tickets. I need you to add one song to your setlist, just like a special one night only, How They Remember You. That is my favorite Rascal Flatts song. So if you guys could do that, that would be great. And then third, this is just a general overall thing that Gary does. I really need him to stop doing it. I watch every video. Every time I get Rascal Flat's live performance comes up on my TikTok, I'm sad. And he does this thing that a lot of performers do, and it is my biggest pet peeve. When you get to the best part of the song, don't give us the microphone. Keep it to yourself. Like, Life is a Stop. It's so annoying. The best parts of the song you don't hear because the crowd is singing it. Please. I really don't like that, Gary. Please stop doing that.

00:16:37

And I will just take whatever show that you have to give me.

00:16:40

Even if it is a bunch of hooting and hollering.

00:16:42

Even if it is. I wouldn't even... I wouldn't realize either. You're in the presence of greatness. That fucking ingrate who exposed him. Oh, yeah.

00:16:48

Well, she's not a real fletista.

00:16:51

Oh, yeah. What's her name?

00:16:52

I don't know. The Little Rascals?

00:16:55

The Little Rascals. The Rascalitas.

00:16:57

I like Rascalitas.

00:16:59

Me too. Okay. Rascalitas Flatitas.

00:17:03

Flatitas.

00:17:04

Well, that's going to be fun.

00:17:05

I know what we're called. Sorry. We're Flat Earthers.

00:17:08

Okay. The Flats. What if they rebranded?

00:17:16

The Flats. I like it. That is a cute name. I mean, their name is everything. So they can't. But it's like how Lady Antebellum became Lady A. Rascal Flats become the Flats.

00:17:26

No, the Dixie Chicks became the Chicks. That's really more so.

00:17:28

Oh, yeah. Yeah. Thanks. Yeah, thanks. Yeah. Once again, just during all my calls.

00:17:33

No. But I also remembered another call that I made, not the one that we remember, because there was two people from our personal life that you guys wouldn't even care. But I was thinking of another call.

00:17:43

It wasn't Hannah or Justin Rose?

00:17:45

Oh, because I was watching Shark Tank last night. Robert Herjavec is the judge equivalent to Derek Huff for you. You liked it when I made it.

00:17:58

You said that to me already? Yeah. No, you didn't.

00:18:00

That's the first time I'm hearing that. When we were recapping Dancing with the stars, and I was like, I like Derek, and you're like, Yeah. And I was like, I feel like for you, he's like the Robert Herjavec of dancing with the stars.

00:18:08

Oh, okay. Then did I like it then? Yeah, you loved it. Okay, so good call. Good call.

00:18:12

I ate with that.

00:18:13

Things you did? That.

00:22:54

Today's episode is very wonderful. Good. Our first story is some really crazy news. The search for Savannah Guthrie's mother, Nancy, is a race against time, says the Sheriff. Savannah Guthrie's mother has been missing for 48 hours.

00:23:11

She was last seen Saturday night, right?

00:23:13

Yeah, she was last seen Saturday night. She was reported missing Sunday morning when she didn't show up to church, and now it is a missing person's investigation. The investigators have said that they believe that she was adopted from her home, that there was a fight. She did not leave.

00:23:26

There was blood. The house is now a crime scene.

00:23:29

The house is a crime They believe she did not leave willingly.

00:23:32

I think a lot of times when an elderly person disappears, they'll chalk it up to cognitive issues. People who are elderly are often found, like wandering. But it was very clear from the beginning, no, she was snatched. Reached. Yeah. And I was talking about this with somebody yesterday. I was like, So was she kidnapped? And you don't ever use the word kidnap for an- Abducted. Right. Because this just doesn't happen. It's so evil.

00:23:57

Yeah. It's a really crazy It's an upsetting story. And she also has health issues.

00:24:03

So she takes a daily medication.

00:24:04

That if she doesn't take, could be fatal for her.

00:24:06

Right. So it's very high stakes. Yeah. Savannah Guthrie posted on Instagram this morning, Please send prayers. I think she was supposed to head to... The Olympics. The Olympics in Milan. She's obviously not going. What a weird, spooky story.

00:24:20

Yeah. A nightmare.

00:24:22

A nightmare. Yeah.

00:24:23

So there's not a lot of details that have come out, but I think also, the police department don't want to share. If they have a suspect in mind they don't want to let them know what we know.

00:24:32

What enemies does an old lady who goes to church have? She was on Saturday night with her kids, Sunday morning church.

00:24:38

She's playing Majang Saturday night. You're kidding. I just saw that in the Daily Mail.

00:24:41

Couldn't it been more wholesome? Who is targeting this woman?

00:24:43

I don't know.

00:24:44

Seriously, It's the craziest story.

00:24:46

She lived in a very affluent community where there should be security cameras. We've not seen any security footage.

00:24:52

I heard that her home did not have a lot of security, except there were a couple of cameras outside that they're working on getting access to. It wasn't It was hot, hot, wired, secure.

00:25:02

The front door was unlocked, but there was signs of fourth century. All the common areas lights were left on. It's a confusing situation. No one knows what happened.

00:25:12

So sad. I think every person's worst nightmare.

00:25:16

I hope that they get some answer soon. I know.

00:25:18

I hope she's okay. What the fuck?

00:25:21

I don't know.

00:25:22

What a crazy- Crazy story.

00:25:28

Prying for her. Our next story, some talk show news. Oh my God. Kelly Clarkson confirms that her talk show will end after seven years, seven seasons. She said, This is not an easy decision. Kelly posted, Yesterday, I have been extremely fortunate to work with such an outstanding group of people at TKCS, The Kelly Clarkson Show. Both in LA and New York, there have been so many amazing moments and shows over these seven seasons. I am forever grateful and honored to have worked alongside the greatest band and crew you could hope for, all the talent and inspiring people who have shared their time and lives with us, all the fans. Because of all of that, this was not an easy decision, but this season will be my last. Stepping away from the daily schedule will allow me to prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives. This isn't goodbye. I'll still be making music, playing shows here and there. That sounds like I didn't think that you wouldn't be.

00:26:19

Oh, I thought that the here and there was like, Don't get too excited.

00:26:22

And you may catch me on the voice from time to time. You never know where I might show up next. I just think she didn't have to do this forever. So if she's closing this chapter, of course, you go back to music, you go back to everything else you were doing. But the fact that she's reassuring us that she'll be making music and performing here and there.

00:26:37

Right. So I think given everything that Kelly has been through, it's not shocking at all that her show is coming to an end. She should prioritize what she wants to prioritize. However, I feel like this is just based off of a feeling, like no proof, that she's been over it for some time, and she's ending it more so because of that. If she really loved it and wanted to keep going, you can find a way to balance family and everything. I just feel like it was time for her in addition to all the things that she's been through.

00:27:05

Yeah. I don't know that she's over it, but I think a job like that, you have to give so much of yourself, and it's very depleting on your bad And I think she wants to give all of that at home and not have to show up every day ratata, when you're not feeling that way every day.

00:27:22

It's also an amazing way to go out. I think even she's the biggest and baddest in daytime, but that might not have been the case forever. And there's worse than ending your show because the ratings stink. To go out on top after seven very successful seasons, and we are getting one more season, which means we'll probably get a fabulous final season with lots of Kelly content. It's good. I'm not displeased. And I do feel like while I love the Kelly Clarkson show and I love what it's done for her, I feel like Kelly Oakey was huge for her Q score rating amongst a new generation of listeners. I wasn't watching it a lot. I'd rather her go on tour.

00:27:56

I'd rather get music from her. I agree.

00:27:58

Yeah. I do feel like it hindered other projects. And so there was a time and space for it. But I'm thrilled that we're going to go back to the O. G. Kelly.

00:28:05

But I don't know why she said it like that, Playing shows here and there, unless that was meant to be an Easter egg for something.

00:28:11

No, I feel like she's really not going to be doing a lot after this. It's easy to release music. It's easy to go on The Voice. You stay in one place. But to tour, especially if she's really prioritizing family, being like, Yeah, I'll release new music, but don't expect me to go on a 50 city tour.

00:28:27

That's fine by me.

00:28:29

Just New York.

00:28:29

Or like, Vegas.

00:28:30

We'll come to you. Yeah, destination. We'll travel for Kelly.

00:28:33

She's on the short list of people I'll travel for.

00:28:36

Who's on the list?

00:28:37

Brasco Flatts. Of course. Kelly Clarkson. I would travel for Luke.

00:28:42

Luke. Would you travel for Taylor?

00:28:48

No. Bruno. Bruno Mars. But I think that's it.

00:28:56

You said it was a short list. Yeah.

00:28:58

Four. Four.

00:29:00

That's a good list.

00:29:00

Yeah. What about you?

00:29:03

I would travel for... I mean, I have traveled for Luke. I have traveled for Taylor. I have traveled for Rascal. I'm aligned.

00:29:14

Like once in life, like shows that like...

00:29:17

I would travel for One Republic.

00:29:19

Oh, did we see them?

00:29:21

We did.

00:29:22

We traveled to New Jersey.

00:29:23

We traveled to New Jersey. That's not really travel. And I would also travel for the Gugu I've seen them. Me too.

00:29:32

Beautiful.

00:29:33

Like, genuinely amazing performers. Ecstasy is all you need living in the big machine now. I don't know what the hell they're saying in any of their songs. Now your world is way too fast, and nothing's real, and nothing lasts. We're all alive. I don't even know what the hell he's saying. Charlie Pooth was on this Rolling Stone podcast, and I don't know why I saw so many clips of it. Maybe because the person asking questions was actually asking good questions, and Charlie was actually giving insightful answers. And he is really widely regarded- I don't realize Charlie Pooth is a Charlie. I didn't realize Charlie Pooth was a Charlie either.

00:30:14

You know I love a Charlie.

00:30:15

I do know that.

00:30:16

I love a Charlie, too. I've actually been loving Charlie Pooth more.

00:30:20

Good namesake for your son? Yeah. I love that.

00:30:23

And I'm excited for his national anthem coming up. Yes.

00:30:27

Well, Charlie Pooth was asked because he is widely regarded as one of the greatest songwriters.

00:30:31

One of the greatest Charlie's.

00:30:32

That, too. Actually, no, he doesn't even compare to our Charlie. One of the greatest songwriters of our generation. And he was like, What do you think are five of the best written, most perfect songs? And he said a couple, I don't remember, but I was struck that he said, Iris by the Gugu Dolls. That's someone who knows real music. Yeah.

00:30:50

I want to know the other ones. I'll find it. He really does know real music.

00:30:54

Yes. And he knows what a song is written well.

00:30:57

He should do a master class on songwriting. He should. That's his skill. I don't know that he's always the best celebrity. People like to clown on him. Okay. Maybe Taylor was really being earnest when she said he was underrated.

00:31:12

I do think she was being earnest. His musical capabilities are so impressive, but he's not the biggest star.

00:31:18

Yeah. He's not meant for stardom.

00:31:26

M&m's Real Slim Shady. Okay. It was very all over. Notorius, V-I-G, Juicy.

00:31:34

Okay.

00:31:39

They're making me watch the clip. I seriously can't. I guess we're watching the clip.

00:31:43

Oh, okay. Chardily. Chardily pouf.

00:31:54

I've read a song that was ever written and recorded. See?

00:32:00

By Notorius B-I-G. Don't Want to Miss a Thing by Aerosmith and by Diane Warren.

00:32:04

I think Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head by Bert Baccarat. Wow. I'm just taking a second because I know the internet lives forever. I think when I heard the Real Slim Shady, This is by Dr. Dre.

00:32:18

The snare drum blew me away on that.

00:32:21

And probably Iris by the Gugu dolls. Wow. It's so subjective. Can you see him?

00:32:28

I didn't even mention a James Taylor song.

00:32:31

So if I were to do an honorary mention, I'd say something in the way she moved.

00:32:34

Okay.

00:32:35

Okay, Charlie.

00:32:36

Yeah, no. Taylor Swift was onto something. I agree. Yeah.

00:32:41

He's a cutie. Yeah, he is.

00:32:43

Oh, are we talking about the Charlie XX Smartlist thing?

00:32:45

We are. Okay. Do you want to do that next?

00:32:47

I do because I have thoughts and I think it's funny.

00:32:49

So Smartlist is getting canceled. Smartlist is over partying.

00:32:52

And it's shockingly not by us. And I'm actually going to defend Smartlist really quickly.

00:32:56

No, they're just getting a little bit of backlash, Jason Bateman, specifically, after pressing Charlie XX on why she doesn't want to have children.

00:33:04

I heard a transcription of the... I've read some comments people being like, Claudia never lets Jackie finish the story. And you know what? Sorry.

00:33:12

Okay. Let me just give the other people the information if they're not as online as us.

00:33:17

This is me taking constructive criticism. I agree with you guys, but don't get ahead of yourselves. That's all the constructive criticism I'll take for the year.

00:33:24

Charlie XX went on smart list, as one does. At one point, they're talking about Charlie growing up as an child. Jason then asks her if that influences how many kids she wants to have, wondering if she wants to have more than one kid or maybe one who has the same experience that she did. In response, she said, I actually don't want to have kids. Sean chimed immediately to ask her, You don't? Wait, why? Though a few seconds later, he followed up with, It's none of my business. It's so PC. Then Charlie responded thoughtfully, saying, She likes the fantasy of having a child. Naming it, it sounds so fun, but that is exactly a sign to me why I should not have one. The fact that that feels like the coolest part about it, and maybe I'm not ready. However, from there, things got awkward as Jason started telling a story about his own wife, Amanda, supposedly- So turdy-coated, telling his own story. He didn't want children before she met him, and now they have two daughters. He suggests that she might find somebody who will change her mind, too. To which she replied, Well, I'm married.

00:34:20

He then joked that he needed to read a newspaper, and then he followed up with another joke saying that maybe she'll want a kid with her next husband.

00:34:26

Yeah. Okay. So I read a transcription or someone paraphrasing it, and I was like, Yikes. I listened to it, and it actually wasn't that bad. I feel like she's not easily offended. And it was a very honest conversation. I actually really liked her take being like, The thing that excites me most about having a baby is being able to name it. I feel like that's a good indicator that maybe I shouldn't have kids. I thought the whole conversation sounded worse than it was. And yes, at a glance, three men pestering a woman why she doesn't want to have kids. Sure. But I don't know. I thought it was a funny thing. I did not think it was weird, and I didn't think she was offended either. Yeah. And isn't the whole concept of Smartlist? I've quite literally never heard an episode that one of them chooses a guest and surprises the other. So Jason, it's like, well, Jason should have done his research. Isn't that the whole thing?

00:35:14

The whole point. Yeah.

00:35:15

That's true. Do they still do that?

00:35:17

I think so. That's what they did in the documentary. And that's as far as my smart list knowledge goes. But also this is just conversation, and it's meant to be deep. And those are big questions to ask. And certainly because she wasn't offended, I don't think anybody should be offended.

00:35:32

And if she was, I do think they would have probably cut it out. Although there is a part where I feel like they edited it. You can hear a little cut.

00:35:37

Oh, interesting. But I don't know. I just... You can't walk on eggshells. And it's fair. If you're talking about how you grew up. Oh, and the other thing- Having kids, those are normal. If you're too scared to ask a question, seriously, what's the point? I don't have a podcast.

00:35:51

I completely agree. And I think the context of what they were talking about before was also left out when this thing went viral because it is important. She was talking about being an only child. Yeah.

00:35:59

So I feel like a good question to ask an only child is, is that what you want for your kids? Or do you want that experience? People ask us that coming from a big family all the time.

00:36:07

I was talking about that with Josh- It's called making fucking conversation. With Josh Peck. He was an only child. And now he has this huge family. We talked about it on the podcast. So I don't think it's a weird question. I don't think she was offended by it at all. I think like, Keyboard Warriors are. And don't ever put me in a position where I have to defend Smartless again. Okay?

00:36:24

Yeah. And Charlie XX.

00:36:26

Because there are things that Smartless should be canceled for, and this ain't it.

00:36:30

Yeah.

00:36:31

Being on top of the charts above us all the time, that's a cancelal of heads.

00:36:34

It's disgusting. They're keeping women down. Silencing women. They're silencing women. And I'm defending Charlie XX, too. You see how I did that?

00:36:41

I see how you did that.

00:36:42

So don't say that I didn't. Nobody said that.

00:36:47

Nobody would ever say that.

00:36:48

It's just like such a silly story, and people are really reaching. I agree.

00:36:51

Although I am excited. I don't know that these three know what it's like to have the internet at their arse.

00:36:57

But I don't really think this is going to reach a that will even reach them in any meaningful way. No. This is not serious. No. Even though just Jared wrote it up.

00:37:06

But I do think that men podcasters have this a lot less than female podcasters. The accountability police is definitely a women's issue. Nobody really cares when a man says something on his podcast.

00:37:20

But I also feel like, and I've not listened to an episode, so this is just me taking a shot in the dark. I feel like Smartlist doesn't really go there. I don't feel like they're having interesting controversial conversations. Yeah, no.

00:37:32

It's like armchair expert is always going there.

00:37:34

Yeah, armchair expert goes there. He gets a lot of- They're the elk of podcasters. I don't know what Smartlist is doing over there, but I just feel like- People seem to really like it.

00:37:43

Yeah.

00:37:43

No, they do. They're doing something right. Not every podcast has to be, sorry, say it again, ratata, controversial. Like I'm saying, hottest takes.

00:37:51

Yeah, or so thought-provoking. Sometimes people just want to commute home and get a little chuckle.

00:37:57

The toast. But the thing about the toast- We go there. We do it all.

00:38:00

We are so dynamic.

00:38:02

We do the chuckle. Oh, no.

00:38:04

We're going at a glance. Oh, no.

00:38:06

Everyone, zoom out.

00:38:09

But we do go there. We're actually extremely substantial when we want to be. I feel like I go There's a few eras where I'm so serious about stuff, and then some eras where I'm like, you guys...

00:38:18

It's not that serious. We're just living.

00:38:20

It's not that deep. We're just living. Yeah.

00:38:21

That's why the toast is without peer, I would say. We are peerless. Because we do a little bit of all of it. They're smart Smartless or peerless.

00:38:32

A spinoff show.

00:38:33

Peerless.

00:38:34

If we ever got fired by Smartless, it would be Smartless presents Peerless.

00:38:40

The Eternity for Maternity Collection.

00:38:45

I'm obsessed.

00:38:46

Are you ready for our fourth story? Yeah. It's some really beautiful news. Eddie Murphy's son Eric and Martin Lawrence's daughter Jasmine are expecting their first baby together less than a year after tying the knot. So in case you didn't know, Eddie Murphy's son and Martin Lawrence's daughter are married. I had no idea. Now they're having- I feel like that should have been in his documentary because fun fact to me is that I know a lot of stuff about Eddie Murphy ever since I watched his documentary, made it my whole personality.

00:39:11

And I feel like that's when he was doing that 20 minute bit at the end about his dumb ass puppet. I feel like that would have been a good time to let us know this.

00:39:18

Yeah, I feel like I forgot this, but maybe at one point I knew it. Okay. Because it didn't seem totally random. And now they're having a baby.

00:39:27

That's really nice.

00:39:28

A lot of pressure the baby to be.

00:39:30

To be so funny.

00:39:31

Yeah. Why are these so serious?

00:39:33

Yeah.

00:39:35

But it's really cute.

00:39:36

It is really cute. I can only imagine what the bris or whatever baby shower is going to be like.

00:39:42

Yeah. Funny.

00:39:44

Funny, funny I'm funny. Yeah. I love Eddie Murphy.

00:39:47

I know.

00:39:48

Because I watch this documentary. I don't know if I mentioned that, you guys.

00:39:51

And you liked it. I never watched it yet.

00:39:53

I did watch last night. I watched American Idol.

00:39:56

Oh, we almost watched American Idol, but then there was Shark Tank, and you know Zack loves Shark Tank.

00:40:01

Well, I was watching Jeopardy. In case anyone's wondering, I'd be Ben. And then it was on after. I was like, Sure. Why not? And it's the auditions, which is my favorite part. After the auditions, I don't really feel like I need to watch. I feel the same way about The Voice. It's just such a good show. How was Carrie under the- I feel like they need a shake up.

00:40:23

Wait, I think this is her first season.

00:40:25

It's not her first season. It's her second or third. And I wasn't just referring to her. In general, it feels a little stale. I think it's because Lionel and Luke Brian have been there for many years, and then it's like a new pop star. It was Katie Perry. So it's just a formulaic at this point, and I am a little bit over it as somebody who tuned in once.

00:40:41

They should bring back Simon, Paula, Randy.

00:40:46

They should bring back Simon.

00:40:49

What's old is new again.

00:40:51

I don't feel like as a country, we've ever been in a better place than we were when those three were running that table like a factory. They each knew their roles. Paula was the fun pop star. Randy was just the very affable relatable one. And then Simon was the one who could really speak the truth.

00:41:11

The truth teller.

00:41:13

Hey, baby, you got to remember. I'm forever your girl. So I've actually never heard a Paula Abdul song. Have you? I know that she is this prolific pop star whose music has quite literally never once touched me in any meaningful way.

00:41:28

Was that Paula Abdul?

00:41:29

So if If you were to say to me before, two weeks ago, name a Paula Abdul song, I couldn't. Then I watched people we meet on vacation, and there's a whole scene, and it's become like, if you talk about the movie on TikTok, you have to use that song. I'm forever your girl. It's Paula Abdul.

00:41:43

It's crazy that she got that job.

00:41:46

I think if you knew Paula Abdul and her work, you wouldn't think that it was crazy.

00:41:50

Really?

00:41:51

Yeah. She was a very meaningful... She was. Did you see the trailer for the Michael Jackson documentary? I did. They're doing the Bohemian Rhapsody Elton John treatment to Michael Jackson. I'm wondering if they'll talk about the molestation.

00:42:02

I'm wondering if they will touch on it.

00:42:04

The molestation was not in the trailer.

00:42:07

No, it wasn't, but that's okay.

00:42:09

A lot of family drama. It's, I think, considered... People are really excited about it because, well, who could play Michael, the greatest singer-dancer of our time? Well, one of his descendants, actually, Jafar, will be playing Michael. I don't know if I'm going to watch it because one thing about me, I actually do think he molested those kids. That's just a crazy thing about me.

00:42:27

I think so, too. That documentary was very compelling.

00:42:29

Oh, my God. That HBO Max documentary was insane. I just believe it. And even if I didn't watch a documentary, the whole thing of him having the ranch where kids would come, it's just weird. So I'm not a fan of the erasure of the molestation, personally. And I feel like there have been the MJ hologram and the Broadway show. They're always doing things about his life where they're just very conveniently leaving out the whole child molestation.

00:42:56

I think what people say, and they try to make sense of it by saying that he was stunted as a child and as a child star and he probably- He never- Psychologically abused and never... He never advanced. Are you going to show us that in the documentary? Or is it all going to be like, ba, da, ba, ba, What song are you singing? Oh, Jackson 5. Yeah.

00:43:22

That is the best song.

00:43:24

What else is it? I don't know.

00:43:24

I think Jackson 5. Yeah. I thought you were going to sing a Michael Jackson song.

00:43:27

Oh, no, I was going to sing a Jackson 5 song because the documentary seemed very Jackson 5 heavy.

00:43:31

I wonder if the documentary, and by documentary, of course, it means biopic.

00:43:34

Movies musical.

00:43:35

If the biopic will cover the influence 13 Going on 30 had on Michael Jackson's career.

00:43:41

I don't know that he... Did he live to see that?

00:43:44

I actually think he did. Thank God that he loved to see that, honestly. I'm glad I lived to see that.

00:43:51

So I feel like the biopic will be very surface.

00:43:54

I just want to quickly go back. If I were to ever do a Rolling Stone interview and they would say, What are the five greatest songs ever written? I'd really have to think I got it, but I do think that Jackson 5 song is up there. It's the best song. And that's why I like wood by... I don't even know what song you're singing when you sing that.

00:44:09

Oh, no wood.

00:44:11

I like the Simarelli version. Before ♪ E, except after C. Not two plus, two makes for, na, na, na, I'm going to teach you. How to get a night. You're supposed to be in my background. I'm going to teach, teach you, teach you. All about love, dear. Sit yourself down and take seat. All you got to do is repeat. Charlie Pluth should have said that. And we're learning.

00:44:36

I'll tell you it's story, me. A, B, C, one, two, three, baby.

00:44:41

Baby, you and me, all you're going to do is how to sing it out. Come on, come on, come on, let me show you what it's all about. Read it. I literally know all the words to that song because of Simarely. That's funny. Do you know what I'm talking about?

00:44:51

You know it's a good kid song, too. Of course.

00:44:53

When we start going to school, you know I'm going to be popping that thing.

00:44:55

A lot of good Jackson 5 Like Rock 'n Robin? Oh, yeah.

00:45:02

They made music for kids. Yeah. I guess because they were kids. That's a good call. So, yeah, Curious at the Mill Station, of course.

00:45:10

I feel like they won't even go there. I know. And then is it really a biopic? No. And do you want to see that in your movie musical? No.

00:45:18

So that's why I think I'll skip the movie.

00:45:21

Yeah, but Miles Teller's in it.

00:45:23

Oh my God. I was shocked when Miles Teller showed up in the documentary in a wig. I was shocked. Anybody else?

00:45:30

Yeah.

00:45:30

Except then I remembered the funny story that when it was rumored who they were casting for the movie, there was a rumor that Miles Teller was playing Michael Jackson, and he had to come out and be like, You guys, I'm not.

00:45:42

Oh, that's so funny.

00:45:42

Because there was like backlash, rightfully so. Why would Miles Teller? Even though he really can dance.

00:45:46

Yeah. He's a great actor. You know? Yeah. That's too what it feels so good.

00:46:03

Don't stop, don't stop till you get enough You know what song I really like, actually? But I prefer the Glee version, of course. I'm starting with the man in the mirror. Oh, yeah. And he really should have started with the man in the mirror, that Michael. Change starts from within. Okay? Yeah. No mess. Oh, no, that's George Michael, that song. I like that other one.

00:46:35

Oh, you know what I love?

00:46:36

Sometimes the clothes do not make the man all behind.

00:46:40

I love that song. Me too. Michael Jack, Bringing It Back. Yeah. Black and White.

00:46:45

Sing it. It don't matter if you're black or white.

00:46:49

You know what?

00:46:51

I met my baby on a sat. Maybe we should watch a movie.

00:46:54

I was about to say, I think I have to see the movie.

00:46:56

No, because I can hold space for two things. That music is really good.

00:46:59

It's Wow.

00:47:00

It's really good.

00:47:02

It's excellent. I think we have to see the movie. It's been a while since we've gotten a swirly biopic, not something like... Not fun. Bohemian Rhaps and Elton, they were About the music.

00:47:16

Very showman.

00:47:17

Okay, let's do it. Are you ready for our fifth and final story?

00:47:21

And a miracle has happened tonight. You know what? We can also watch the Glee episode of Michael Jackson. They did a themed episode.

00:47:29

And is he Fat Bottom Girls?

00:47:30

No, that's Queen.

00:47:32

I like that song.

00:47:33

I love that song. And the way, I only know it from Glee. Glee doesn't get enough respect for introducing my generation. I know so much older music, exclusively because of Glee. I know so much Queen.

00:47:44

Yeah. I think it's going to be a Queeny Michael Jackson ride home today. Yeah, for sure.

00:47:49

Glee version. I only know Bohemian Rhaps because of Glee. It was when Quinn gave birth in the first season. And so it's like, And she's pushing, and then they go back. They're at quarter finals or whatever. It's such a good episode.

00:48:03

Our fifth and final story, Whitney Lyaivit, debuting on Broadway in Chicago. Chicago. Her first performance as Roxy has been shared online, and Whitney's doing her thing.

00:52:36

Yes, I saw it. I think a lot of people were very curious. We've never heard her sing. So obviously, when you go to Broadway, singing is a big part of that. She's been posting a lot of videos of her to sing, but none of her singing. So it was just this...

00:52:48

Was everyone waiting? Yes.

00:52:50

What's the voice? She would post videos, being like, Okay, everybody wants me to sing. And then there would be a car crash or whatever. She was playing with people. And she could sing. She definitely can sing. She looked like she crushed it. I saw a couple of clips. Obviously, I haven't seen the show. All the girlies were in attendance, and I was reading a lot of comments, people being like, Well, now she's on Broadway. She's a big star. Of course, all the haters, Mikaela, because everyone was really tough on her. The most recent season that we saw, and then she had a banner a year. Stars, it became this huge cultural thing. Now she's on Broadway. And so, of course, it looks like all the girls come running back. I was proud to say I did not pile on Whitney this season. I felt like the girls really did her wrong. It was It's painful to watch at times, how poorly she was being treated. And so this isn't a Whitney comeback for me because I've been here. And now I think a lot of people are like, well, like dancing with the stars. We were there before.

00:53:45

Oh, yeah. We've supported her the whole time, and we thought that she should win. But all of it led her to this, even not winning. I feel like maybe if she won, maybe it would have been different. Who knows if she would have gotten this role? Wouldn't she be on the tour or something? This was what was meant for her. It's crazy how much she's changed in the last year and how much my perception of her changed. When I watch her on the show, it feels like I'm watching a completely different person now. Also, Mark Ballas, I feel that way about- Well, Treaders That has not been good for Mark Ballas, I believe. That has not been kind.

00:54:18

Jackie sent me a funny text. She was like, What did you say?

00:54:20

About how his- I didn't know anything about him when I watched dancing with the stars, and when I saw him on dancing with the stars, I was a little intimidated by him. I just felt like he's very cool and very serious.

00:54:30

He's one of the most decorated champions, and he's one of the most popular ones, and he's so a part of dancing with the stars, lore and history in a positive way.

00:54:37

Yeah. And I felt like maybe, I don't know, all the drama that surrounded them. I don't know. I felt he was very intimidating.

00:54:44

It was a theory It's real.

00:54:45

Yeah. And then traitors.

00:54:48

Like I said, has not been good. Right.

00:54:50

I was like, oh.

00:54:51

He's not that.

00:54:52

No. And he's just like one of Colton's cronies.

00:54:55

Yeah. It's giving follow her on traitors, which is never a good thing.

00:55:00

Yeah. But back to Whitney, very excited for her. I feel like the next season of Secret Lives that comes out will be when the girls are doing dancing with the stars.

00:55:09

It'll be a little delayed.

00:55:10

And we'll see how supportive they are of her in that moment. If they were there for her then, then it's okay that they're here for her now.

00:55:16

I didn't see Jen. I saw Mikaela, I saw Jessie, I think I saw Macy.

00:55:21

Taylor.

00:55:21

Taylor. I did not see. Demi. What? Demi. No, I didn't see her, but I don't think that means anything.

00:55:29

Yeah, I think they friends. Yeah.

00:55:31

No, I didn't see Jen.

00:55:32

We'll see how they treat her on this previous season. But yeah, now she's larger than life. I wonder, not to put pressure on her, but what do you do after this? Do you go back to Utah?

00:55:41

Yes. I really hope she does not leave the show. I think that happens a lot. Or E. J. Jean Paul. Don't leave the thing because it's still a huge show. Do not leave. I don't think it would be good for her. I would actually think that's a huge mistake. If Taylor, Frankie Paul is not leaving, nobody should be. Even though Do you feel like Whitney... Who do you think is the most famous?

00:56:06

From the show? I feel like it's Whitney now. Today, it's Whitney. When Taylor's season of The Bachelorette comes out, it will be Taylor.

00:56:12

Yeah, because it's always just in this undisputed thing. Taylor is the leader of Mom Talk because she started it, but also because she is the most famous. I think she's had the most followers.

00:56:20

Yeah. How many followers does Whitney have now compared to Taylor?

00:56:22

Are we talking exclusively on TikTok?

00:56:24

I want to do TikTok. I'll go to Instagram. You go to TikTok. Okay.

00:56:29

Taylor, Frankie Paul has 6 million followers. That's a ton. Whitney Leavitt has... Oh, 3. 4. It's not even a question.

00:56:39

Taylor has 2. 2 on Instagram, and Whitney Leavitt has 1. 5. So she's creepy up. And I do feel like their Instagram followers.

00:56:49

How many does Taylor have on Instagram? 2.

00:56:50

2.

00:56:50

Oh, she's creepy up.

00:56:52

Yeah. I feel like Taylor got a lot of followers on TikTok.

00:56:54

From Mom Talk, but now they're all settled.

00:56:56

Yeah.

00:56:58

Yeah. Instagram is, I feel, a more Realistic.

00:57:01

Yeah, it's more like- We're telling. From the show.

00:57:04

Yeah.

00:57:06

So, yeah, definitely neck and neck. But I do still think Taylor's the leader of Mom Talk, no matter how big Whitney is, because Whitney's doing things outside of Mom Talk.

00:57:13

Outside of Utah.

00:57:13

Taylor's always been doing Everything in service of Mom Talk. Mom Talk.

00:57:17

Yeah.

00:57:18

Yeah. Very exciting for Ms. Lee-ovitt. Oh, girl.

00:57:22

Let's dive into Deer Toasters, our weekly advice segment every Tuesday. Jackie and I host a segment called Dear Toosters, where our toosters can write in if they're in need, whether they're going through issues at work, at home, in their relationship with a friend in a wedding party. Email us, teartoasters@gmail. Com, or head over to our website, thetoastpodcast. Com. Scroll down, there's a little box that says, Tear Toasters. Both methods of submission are equal opportunity, and they are both completely anonymous. So you never have to worry about that. Are you ready? Okay. Tear Toasters. After my husband's mom died three years ago, we had to take in her cat, or she was going to be put in a shelter. I love animals, but this cat is the worst. She tacks my other cat. She pees in places She's out of spite. She scratches like, ruins my doors and walls. I have a black lab, a dog who's terrified of her. I'm seven months pregnant with my first child. Is it wrong of me to want to get rid of my husband's dead mother's cat? No. No. And I would have said this even before you said you were pregnant, but now that you're pregnant, it's like what you say goes.

00:58:16

And I'm sorry to your husband, but his mom's cat has to go.

00:58:21

No. And you can't have a wild, feral animal around when you have a baby. I've also heard that cats can be unsafe during pregnancy because they carry some germs that are not safe for the pregnant.

00:58:32

Yeah, but she has another cat that she loves, so she shouldn't bring that up.

00:58:35

Okay.

00:58:36

Because it's like, all right, we'll have to get rid of both cats.

00:58:38

Yeah.

00:58:39

I would definitely seek out a family member on your husband's side. Worst case, you don't want to give him in a shelter. So I would really work to find, and of course, this is your husband's problem, not yours, finding a safe home for him. Rehoming and during pregnancy and early childhood years happens a lot. You're not a bad person because of it. Jennifer Lawrence did it. And this isn't even your So definitely, definitely get rid of that cat.

00:59:04

Yeah. You can't have a wild animal around with a baby.

00:59:07

Yeah. And I also feel like it's spirit feels cursed. And you're in your nesting phase. You want to sage the home positive, clean energy. And it doesn't sound like this cat is providing that.

00:59:20

No.

00:59:21

And so when it comes to bringing it up, just say it. You don't even have to cushion it. You're not even being remotely unreasonable.

00:59:27

No. And you're not This isn't a democracy. This is happening.

00:59:33

It's a prerogacy.

00:59:34

This is happening. Yeah, right. Get on board.

00:59:36

Get on board. Start making arrangements. Yeah. All right, next up. That was easy. Hey, Swirlies. I went to the dentist recently, and I was seen by a new dentist. I couldn't help but notice this man was extremely attractive, and he seemed to be around my age. I am typically shy. I do not like going out of my way to express things like this or make the first move. So how do I go about seeing if he's interested in me? Should I follow him on Instagram? Is it weird if I have my roommate DM him for me in case it goes poorly? Because I still I want to go to the dentist. He's also private on Instagram, so I don't know if he has a girlfriend. Sincerely, a shy toaster.

01:00:06

I feel like you've written into the wrong show. We are two married ladies.

01:00:10

No, no.

01:00:10

I don't know how to help you because I'm always about putting herself out there. There's a time and a place, but I don't know why this feels like a hard one.

01:00:21

Well, it is a little radical just in terms of you know nothing about him. Before you make any contact, you absolutely have to find out if he's married because don't waste time then. I think there are ways to just Google. Google his name and registry and see if there's a registry come up. There's a million ways. Find a mutual friend, check Facebook. There are ways. You have to do that first. But I do love your approach to You can't just sit around and wait for life to happen for you, especially in this day and age. I feel like, I'm always quoting Scott Galloway. He talks about how men as a gender are deteriorating. They're less and less viable, and they're certainly not asking women out. It's just not happening. I don't know how people are meeting people, but it's not in in a way that they once were. I think a lot of women are forced to take matters into their own hands. I do think that's what's happening to you here. I want to support you. I'm trying to give tactical advice. You have to find out.

01:01:10

You have to find out. I think also, even if he thought you were cute, I don't think he could make the first move because that's probably a violation. I think DMing with the friend, no. No. Agreed, no. I think you have to put your cards on the table and be willing to change dentists. Of course.

01:01:26

If it doesn't work out. It's not that hard. Dentists are... It's not like a neurosurgeon. Dentists are... There's one on every block. You could find another dentist. Not to say that dentists aren't smart. That's not what I was saying. But I do think you need to be more specific when looking for a neurosurgeon versus a dentist.

01:01:40

I'm thinking of what I'm going to say next, and I think you've stepped in some shit.

01:01:44

Because that's not what I was saying. Obviously, you go to dental school, you're really smart.

01:01:48

Oh, I hear you.

01:01:49

But it doesn't sound like you're crazy.

01:01:51

Dental problems. I came back to the conversation and you have to apologize.

01:01:54

I'm fighting for my life over here. I just didn't want to insult dentists. I think it doesn't sound like you have any complicated dental history. So if you need to find a new dentist, it's not a big deal. Okay?

01:02:05

Okay, it's not a big deal.

01:02:07

So you need to be willing to lose your dentist. Yes, you do. And instead of a new dentist, what you've done it for five minutes and you're married to him as a dentist, it's fine. Yeah.

01:02:15

It is fine. And so I think you do have to just disassociate. And you said you're shy. Put on a confident person outer wear and go up to me.

01:02:24

At the next appointment.

01:02:25

At the next appointment, be like, By the way- At your final appointment. Are you seeing anyone? And see what he says. Yeah. I'd be like, I would love to grab a drink sometime. And even though that's not me and it's not you either because- That was really good, though. Right. I'm in a costume of confidence.

01:02:38

Wait for the appointment to be borderline over, like his wrapping up. But is there a hygienist in the room? They're always ruining the vibes. Not to say that dental hygiene.

01:02:49

You're not alone. Of course, the girl, get in line. Everyone wants hot dentists, but will everyone do it?

01:02:55

Not everyone has what it takes to get the hot dentist.

01:02:58

In that moment, you have to be prepared. You have to have your next dentist on speed dial.

01:03:01

And you have to- Lined up, yeah. And you have to- Instead of asking your friend to DM him, ask your friend who her dentist is.

01:03:06

Yeah. You have to just pretend you're someone else and say, Hey, will you want to grab me?

01:03:11

You need to be crazy.

01:03:13

The crazy bird gets the word.

01:03:15

We're at an inflection point.

01:03:17

You have nothing to lose except a good dentist.

01:03:19

In culture, we're at an inflection point in hetero-Normative? Hetero relationships where men are not asking women out, men are not leaving the house. They are these crazy creatures.

01:03:34

We should have Scott Galloway on the podcast.

01:03:35

I actually would love to. Great. I didn't know he taught at NYU. We should do that in the course with him. We did that episode with Chelsea Handler. The ones we chose were very specific to Chelsea. We need to write in about men who are suffering and how the wives can help them.

01:03:49

Maybe we can get it sponsored by State Farm, and it can be called Deer Farmer with Scott Galloway.

01:03:55

Okay. Or we just have our loyal sponsors and not Not yearn for the ones who left us.

01:04:01

Pine for State Farm. Yeah, I don't- I mean, State Farm is great. Come back anytime. I pine for Deer Farmer.

01:04:06

Yeah, I know you do. But I just feel like there are... What about Farmer's Insurance?

01:04:10

Farmer's Insurance.

01:04:12

Are they not owned by State Farm? Don't you feel like that's a weird coincidence?

01:04:15

Yeah, they appropriating the farm.

01:04:18

Yeah, it's like a cheater rand.

01:04:20

No, but Farmer's Insurance is insurance for farmers.

01:04:23

No, it's not. It's just insurance.

01:04:28

Are you sure?

01:04:30

I'm not. And that would make sense, but I'm almost 100% sure.

01:04:33

And then it's like, what does State Farm know about farm? Do you even know ball, as the children say?

01:04:39

Is Farmer's Insurance only insurance for farmers?

01:04:42

Or not only, but mostly.

01:04:45

No. Despite the name, it's a large insurance company that sells policies to all kinds of customers. Auto insurance, home insurance, renters, life, business insurance, umbrella liability, motorcycle, RV.

01:04:55

Okay, so they can do Deer Farmer. Yeah.

01:04:57

How did we get here? Oh, so yeah, You have to be prepared to find another dentist, and you have to the next time the appointment, find the right time, wait for the appointment to be over because if he says... Oh, and you also have to find out if he's married or has a girlfriend because then, seriously, don't wait for time.

01:05:08

Yeah, and I just feel like he does. Do you know what I mean? I feel like dentists are usually spoken for.

01:05:15

Well, also dentists would be wearing rings, right?

01:05:19

I don't know why they're going to bring their ring into your mouth.

01:05:21

And a ring is really dirty. I actually hope my dentist is not wearing a ring.

01:05:24

No, and he wear a glove.

01:05:25

Oh, yeah.

01:05:27

Glove.

01:05:27

Yeah.

01:05:28

No glove, no love. I think, yeah. You know what? Someone's going to get this dentist, and why not you?

01:05:32

No, I love your brazen approach, especially you sound like somebody who doesn't do this a lot.

01:05:36

No, she became on brazen when she started talking about Instagram DM sent a friend. Oh, that's by the way. That's when I was like, You're not cut out for this.

01:05:41

Of all the things you wrote in, that is definitely the worst idea. Do not do that.

01:05:45

Don't bring any part of Instagram into this. Agreed.

01:05:48

Unless it's stalking.

01:05:49

Yeah. Unless you make a fence. I don't even think your friend should follow him to find out.

01:05:53

Go to his website. When they say about us, he'll have a picture. If he has a wife and kids, the picture will be Yeah.

01:06:00

And if your friend follows him to find out, he might think the friend's cute.

01:06:03

Oh, yeah. Only your ugly friends.

01:06:05

Yeah.

01:06:06

Okay. You're ready for your third and final? Mm-hmm. Hey, Jackson turd. How you doing? Do I have to tell my boyfriend that I'm on Ozempic? I've always been an athlete. I'm into working out. I just need a little help to get rid of some stubborn weight. I'm hesitant to tell him because he and his family are very holistic when it comes to health and wellness. The context is that we both live in the same city, but we do live separately, so I'm not worried about him seeing it in my fridge. We've been dating for almost two years, and the only person I've told is my best friend. Am I okay to keep this huge secret and not tell him that I'm on a medication? Or is it okay to live my girly, squirly, skinny life in private?

01:06:35

I've got angel and devil on my shoulder. Me too. Because my initial reaction is like- Live your life, don't tell him. Leave your life. He's just a boyfriend. Do what you want.

01:06:43

I hate to be so extremely break up with your boyfriend, he's gay. But if you can't tell your boyfriend this thing that you want to do for your own reasons, it doesn't affect him at all. It sounds like he's not a supportive boyfriend.

01:06:56

Well, no, but he might be holistic and you just have a different... You guys I just disagree about those everything. And that's fine, but you should still support it. But that doesn't mean that you should break up. But you also might not even want to go there and have the talk about it. And you're entitled to your privacy, your medical privacy. You don't have to tell someone everything. However, on the other side, I'm like, I want to know what medications my partner is on. I feel like that's a fair thing to know.

01:07:19

Oh, that's an interesting thing to say. I think I agree. I've never thought about it before because Ben and I, we'd be with the door open. We're very like, there's nothing And that's your...

01:07:31

You would never not. He's your husband. I would want to know medications that my partner's on. I feel like that's a fair thing to know. But I also feel like your body, your choice. I'm fine with her doing it, but I feel like then not sharing it. Sharing it, that's a bad precedent. And also what? You're going to hide the thing in your fridge every time. And then what if he finds it? It's not that you're taking those.

01:07:50

And then you act like you're doing something wrong.

01:07:52

You hid it from him.

01:07:53

When you high in lie, it's because you're doing something bad and you're not.

01:07:58

Yeah.

01:07:59

I actually I think it might be a good test for your relationship. This is something you know he fundamentally disagrees with. Can he be supportive of something you want to do for yourself?

01:08:06

And can you just handle disagreement?

01:08:09

I do think you should tell him for those reasons.

01:08:11

I think so, too. You don't want to have secrets between you.

01:08:14

No, It's never good.

01:08:15

And if it is a deal breaker for him for whatever reason, then the deal is broken. Yeah.

01:08:21

And if he can't be supportive of something that he just doesn't agree with, but it's not like you're doing math, right? It's a medicine. A doctor would prescribe it. So if he can't be supportive of something that he might have a different value on. And that's not a good sign. Not everything you're going to want to do, he's going to agree with, but he should support it.

01:08:37

Yeah. And I think if he is a good guy and you guys are meant to be, I think you might be underestimating his capacity For a change and open-mindedness.

01:08:47

Or not even change, just being understanding. You don't have to agree with everything your partner does and says, but you do have to respect it and support it.

01:08:54

Yeah. But if he is so set in his ways to the point that he could not support or be with you If you're on Ozempic, then that's something you should know.

01:09:03

Agreed. It's like a good test for your relationship two years in.

01:09:06

Yeah. That's a big disagreement to have. It's not, I don't think, a deal breaker, but you're allowed to have different philosophies on it. Yeah.

01:09:15

And I don't think you should keep secrets. Yeah. Like that. Because then it's like you're doing something wrong and you're not. Yeah.

01:09:20

And you don't want to feel like you're doing something wrong. You don't want to feel like you're hiding something from him. And on his end, I think he has a right to know medications that his partner's on.

01:09:28

I agree.

01:09:30

At two years, yeah. Yeah.

01:09:32

Yeah, at two years.

01:09:33

You don't have to lead with it on the first date.
