00:00:03

Good morning, girlies, it's The Toast. It's Jax and Claude and we're your hosts. It's your favorite show, the fast 5 things you need to know. We'll start your day off swirly, it's The Toast.

00:00:23

I sound amazing.

00:00:25

Welcome back to The Toast and happy Friday from a couple of Back off duty models. Thank God we're off duty.

00:00:31

Thank God we're off duty. We're models and we're actresses. We were also acting on set yesterday. It's true.

00:00:35

It was more of like a video shoot.

00:00:37

Yeah.

00:00:37

Um, we have to stop using— we're using the incorrect terminology because we don't do that a lot.

00:00:40

We also—

00:00:41

Photoshoot slash video shoot.

00:00:42

We also did photos. So it was like, we're very well-rounded models. We do a little bit of everything. It's true.

00:00:48

We're what us in the industry call a triple threat.

00:00:50

Oh yeah.

00:00:51

We sing, we dance. We're actually like—

00:00:53

We act.

00:00:54

Quintuple threat. We play the piano.

00:00:56

More so there's nothing we can't do.

00:00:58

And that's why the Golden Globes recognizes us for the talent that we are. Absolutely agreed.

00:01:02

It's so true. So glad to be done modeling.

00:01:04

Oh my God.

00:01:04

You did an amazing job, by the way, if you're wondering.

00:01:06

And it wasn't that bad actually. Like, it was fine. It was a sweet treat for us.

00:01:09

We got McDonald's.

00:01:09

It was fine. Um, but like, we may be done modeling, but I don't look it. Like, did you also have a hard time getting all your eye makeup off? I feel like I have like a little bit of like a smoky eye.

00:01:17

I think because we used waterproof mascara.

00:01:19

We used waterproof mascara. We had— I had fake lashes on.

00:01:21

I came out of the shower and I had black running down my eyes. That's never happened.

00:01:24

Even this morning, like, I was like, do I look extra smoky?

00:01:28

And I had still black.

00:01:29

I think I still have black. I don't know how the models do it.

00:01:33

I should've used my Real Balm.

00:01:34

Balm.

00:01:35

I should've used my Real Balm.

00:01:37

I use my trusty bar of Dove soap.

00:01:39

Alex does photo shoots all the time. All the time. So obviously her balm has photo shoot—

00:01:44

It's photo shoot proof.

00:01:45

It's photo shoot friendly.

00:01:46

So yeah, we were on set all day yesterday. Kind of big drama on set is that I left my cast. I took it off obviously for the shoot 'cause that's so not sexy. Oh my God, I forgot. Do we— have you signed this one too?

00:01:58

No, I haven't.

00:01:59

No, should we? I forgot that I had a backup, so I wasn't like that upset. I was like, oh, you guys can throw it out, like it was $3 from Walgreens. But I forgot that it was one that you signed. Do you want to sign this one, or just like it was a moment in time?

00:02:12

If you want me to sign it.

00:02:13

No, you don't want to. I don't want— like, I don't want your like negative energy. Seems like you don't even want to sign.

00:02:17

My one yesterday was negative as well, but I put a positive message.

00:02:19

It seems like you don't even want to.

00:02:21

Have you been shining on Turdy?

00:02:22

I mean, you saw me on set yesterday.

00:02:24

She was shining.

00:02:25

Shine on, turd, shine on. I was a shiny little turd.

00:02:28

She shone.

00:02:31

Um, so yeah, modeling things we did. That, um, another shoot next week, just like the—

00:02:37

oh, and if you were wondering like what we're modeling and what you're going to like, don't even think about it.

00:02:43

Don't bother.

00:02:44

Don't even worry about it.

00:02:44

We'll tell you when the time is right. Like, trust and believe, like, we're, we're on—

00:02:48

yeah, not anytime soon.

00:02:49

Not anytime soon. Um, but trust and believe we will continue to talk about the photo shoots in perpetuity.

00:02:55

As they happen in real time.

00:02:57

Before, during, and after.

00:02:58

Yeah.

00:02:59

It's Friday!

00:03:00

I'm glad to just get back to my, like, my real life today, you know, my Miley Stewart life of homemaking, making Shabbat, maj, and I'm just excited to like be me again.

00:03:12

Yeah, it was fun for a minute, you know, to step into the shoes of the limelight, the glamorous life.

00:03:17

Last night we were like Like in the street, we were like with the neighbors and I had like a full face of glam. It's just like, oh, mom's home.

00:03:25

I know the next time he sees you, he's gonna be like, who are you?

00:03:28

No, but it's like just so intense.

00:03:30

It's a lot. Even though I really realized—

00:03:32

I felt like Bailey Taylor addressing the controversy.

00:03:36

I realized yesterday, 'cause when we both were done, we had like 20 minutes to like chill. And I was looking at us and I was like, we are, we looked so gorgeous. I was like, well, what's stopping us from looking like this every day? And you did make a good point that like, if you look that glam every single day, like you'll never look special and it'll be hard to be, you know, different. But I don't know, the way I felt yesterday versus like the way I felt today, I need to— I think one of the lessons I took away from the photo shoot was I need to be wearing more makeup. And I wear a lot, but I think I'm like doing it poorly and bad.

00:04:05

And like, then your takeaway was to wear more makeup and you came here today wearing less makeup.

00:04:08

Well, I had a crazy morning, so don't start with me. But general life philosophy, yes. I don't wear enough makeup. And the thing is, at the end of the glam session, I was like, put on more. And she did. And I was like, even better.

00:04:20

My takeaway was that we're timeless beauties.

00:04:22

Well, I didn't need that takeaway. I already knew that.

00:04:25

And I think I need Botox because I was having like— I was watching—

00:04:28

Always a good takeaway.

00:04:29

And I was just like a little bit RV— RBF. I'm like, why are you mad, bro? But I wasn't mad.

00:04:33

But the video shoot that we shot like required such expressionism.

00:04:38

No, but—

00:04:38

And such emotive like gestures that I'm glad that you were able, cuz you crushed it.

00:04:43

Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, but it was like in the, in the down periods when we were like waiting for our cue. Mm-hmm. Like I'm just like crossed eyebrows and, and that's not how I felt. Right. I wasn't confused and I wasn't mad.

00:04:52

Maybe it's not a Botox problem. Maybe you just like have a resting bitch face.

00:04:55

Like maybe, but both, I don't want to.

00:04:57

I don't. But as an actress, model, and triple threat, like you can't be freezing.

00:05:00

No, we have one more photo shoot next week and then I'm done.

00:05:01

And then you can get Botox.

00:05:02

I'm going back into retirement.

00:05:03

Let me tell you something about retirement. I can't wait. I got my Roth IRA set up. I'm ready to go. I'm gonna be living the high life.

00:05:10

When you retire?

00:05:11

When I retire. And trust, I will retire. I'm not gonna be like Tom Brady.

00:05:15

Really?

00:05:17

A day will come.

00:05:18

Yeah. Oh yeah.

00:05:20

Not anytime soon, of course.

00:05:22

I don't know.

00:05:23

You're not gonna retire?

00:05:24

Is anyone even retiring anymore?

00:05:26

Um, yeah, I see people like having retirement parties on TikTok all the time.

00:05:30

Oh, people on TikTok?

00:05:31

People with pensions. Like, it's kind of the whole point, you know? Love to retire. Cops, teachers, things— well, teachers don't have pensions, but you know what I mean. Um, Yeah, I do think obviously maybe not at the rate they once were, but yeah, people retire.

00:05:43

People are still retiring. And can you even retire?

00:05:46

Well, no, that's sort of like a larger economical issue, but that's why I said people with pensions, they can retire.

00:05:50

Okay, definitely. Anybody else?

00:05:53

No. Well, you know, this is a good reminder to start saving for retirement. It's never a bad time. It's never too early.

00:05:58

Nobody's thinking about it.

00:05:59

And it's so not sexy. Like, I'm saving up for a Ferrari. Oh, I'm saving up for retirement. Like, But you know what? Who's happier in 30, 40, 50 years?

00:06:09

Amanda Francis.

00:06:10

Let's talk about Amanda Francis.

00:06:13

Let's talk about Amanda Francis. I wanna pull up her video. It meant a lot to me.

00:06:16

Yes, I watched it and it also meant a lot to me.

00:06:18

So she made a story like, oh, but we could just talk about it now since we're talking about it.

00:06:21

So then are we gonna replace the story?

00:06:23

Yeah, we'll replace the story.

00:06:23

Okay.

00:06:24

Something like she made a video.

00:06:25

She makes a lot of videos that don't come across my desk. As you guys know, she does like financial, um, manifestations. It's all sort of like boo-hoo hogwash and she like sells courses, but she is getting married this week. which we were following her engagement journey on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. She's not returning, so everything we know about the wedding we know from her Instagram. Her husband built her a chuppah with a cross. Did you see?

00:06:44

No, I didn't see. She really doesn't—

00:06:45

I think it's an interfaith wedding.

00:06:46

But this wedding came up, this video came up in my feed, and she starts with a screenshot of like her bank account and her balance.

00:06:52

Her American Express bill.

00:06:53

Her American Express bill. So of course I'm hooked. I didn't even know I was watching Amanda Francis.

00:06:56

Oh well, she also looks so different.

00:06:58

And then I'm hearing her justify the $700,000 American Express bill.

00:07:02

It's $704,000 American Express bill.

00:07:04

The takeaways that we can all take away from this video, I think, are, are so critical for us shopping.

00:07:08

Well, what's interesting is like that video's actually not for you. I feel, you know, you don't need this message.

00:07:14

The video is for me because I'm not spending money. I'm not shopping. I have the opportunity to release money.

00:07:21

So on this Chanel bag, she shares that a lot of her wedding vendors are on this credit card bill, which is why it's such a high American Express bill.

00:07:28

And, and why she's so excited about her bill being so high.

00:07:30

Yeah. Like, like this is what she exactly what she wanted.

00:07:32

This is an opportunity for her to release money.

00:07:34

This is what she says.

00:07:36

This— I love her. Amex bill right now. It is 3 days until my wedding. This is my Amex bill right now, and this is after I made a $50,000 payment yesterday. So let me tell you what happens, what's happening, and why I'm excited about it. What's happening is that, um, weddings are expensive and my Amex is exhausted. For the first time I think ever, my Amex is declining. My Amex is declining. Why? Because basically I put about—

00:08:05

because me and Amanda Francis have so much in common. My Amex also declined on DoorDash yesterday. Yeah.

00:08:09

Oh, because it was like a fraud alert?

00:08:11

Yeah, it was a fraud alert. And like, honestly, in American Express's defense, like, it was good fraud. I gave my credit card to someone else to place a food order for everyone, so it was like, wasn't my account. It was a good catch by Amex, but it was me.

00:08:22

You just want the drama.

00:08:23

Yeah, of course.

00:08:24

$200,000 to $250,000 on it every month for years and years and years and years. I can think of a time that it was more like $360,000 And I can think of a time that it was more like $120,000.

00:08:33

But she's spending money on it.

00:08:35

So Amex is sending me notifications that say, hey, based on your typical spend and payment amount, this amount is very large. We are declining your transactions, which is fine. So I just need to make a payment and then I'll have room on the Amex and then we can pay the final invoice for the wedding.

00:08:49

We have one invoice left and it's $136,000.

00:08:52

Okay. Why am I excited? I'm excited because I know the opportunity The opportunity to release money, the opportunity to— okay, receiving and being comfortable and safe receiving is an art, but releasing and releasing with gratitude and purpose and joy is an art too. Letting go of money— You need—

00:09:11

you and Bradley need to release with joy.

00:09:12

Well, here's the thing is that like, while yes, she's right, she's also wrong because she's not talking about the extreme— you and her with her $700,000 bill— the extreme of getting too comfortable releasing money.

00:09:26

Knowing that money is plentiful and there is always more where that came from is—

00:09:30

That's just a liar.

00:09:34

The machine doesn't agree either.

00:09:35

Is she done?

00:09:36

And it's part of having a very positive relationship with money that you feel safe and comfortable using it and using it well. Sometimes well is investments, sometimes well is new team members, sometimes well is a high-interest savings account, sometimes well is your wedding.

00:09:51

Agreed.

00:09:52

I've decided that's what well meant, but it's up to me what is the right thing to do with my money, and it's up to everyone what the right thing to do with their money is. It kind of reminds me when I got into student loan debt to go to the schools I wanted to. I decided those schools were right for me and the debt was worth it. I'm deciding this wedding is right for me and this massive Amex bill that I'm now going to need to pay off to continue to even be able to use my Amex is worth it. And I wouldn't be having a wedding at this I wouldn't be surprised if I didn't feel safe and comfortable spending money.

00:10:20

Well, of course.

00:10:20

Yeah, hopefully.

00:10:21

There's not a lot of rights and wrongs with money. There's a—

00:10:24

and like, I don't know about that.

00:10:25

Tell that to, uh, tell that to Bernie Madoff.

00:10:27

Yeah, right. Um, okay, Amanda, like, I actually— I think at its core I like her message for someone like me. Like, I definitely have a complicated relationship with money. Like, I hate spending money.

00:10:37

No, no, it's a crazy message. It's a crazy video.

00:10:39

She's so crazy. First of all, how on her regular day-to-day, not a wedding, how is she spending— like she said, her Amex bill is usually $250,000 a month.

00:10:47

Unless she has like her more mortgage, everything.

00:10:51

But that's still so much money.

00:10:52

Yeah, that's really high.

00:10:54

I get scared for her. Like, obviously something's going to happen. How is she sustaining this? Her husband's a general contractor and she sells courses on the internet.

00:11:01

She said like a million times that her husband's poor and he doesn't make— are like bupkis compared to hers. Like, she's funding their lifestyle.

00:11:07

Yeah, with her courses. I have to imagine this video is like going so viral, like her courses are probably being sold through the roof.

00:11:14

Yeah, because even me, like, and we are like discerning consumers, like there is Something, there's like a, there's something emotional about money. There's a glimmer of just like something attractive in that video where it's like, spend with joy. Cuz you know what, if you're gonna have to spend on things, which you do, spend with joy. No, it's a joyous occasion.

00:11:33

No, I actually think what, like my pit in my stomach every time I have to spend a lot of money is what keeps me financially stable.

00:11:39

No, but it's like if we go into a store and we shop and we bought things that we love and I'm so excited to buy them, like seriously, like take my money. Like, this is so great.

00:11:46

And like, you're like, yeah, but by the way, nobody has a pit about the things that they bought that they love. Like everything that, like in life, it's like you get a bill you don't expect or your air conditioner breaks or your car breaks down. Yeah.

00:11:57

Well, I'd love to know what she thinks about that.

00:11:58

Yeah, of course. I love spending money on my wedding.

00:12:00

On my wedding.

00:12:00

Like, please get, where's that energy when like, you know, your carburetor fails?

00:12:05

Yeah.

00:12:05

Or, you know, unexpected medical bills. Oh, I'm releasing this money with joy. Like, not with joy, please.

00:12:11

I don't think that's what she's talking about.

00:12:13

And I feel like it's an easy message to spread.

00:12:15

No, but I also feel like it's easy to find the worst-case scenario and be like, well, what do you think about that? And it's like, okay, that's not what I was talking about.

00:12:20

But that's a lot of times when you release money, like, that's what you're releasing it for. Because if I'm, if I'm paying for something that I want, I'm not releasing it, I'm just paying for it. And like, but when you have to like steal the money from my cold dead hands, like, because it's not something sexy, like a bill, insurance— oh, she's got a Natera bill. Like, please.

00:12:36

Oh, Natera.

00:12:37

Natera, they are persistent. They get you mail, text, and email.

00:12:41

I would say predatory.

00:12:43

And you know what, I felt sick because they literally contact me via text, via email, and via like regular mail. So you know what, I'll finally pay this bill. Paid it. I got a text, your Natera bill has been paid. Within 1 second I got another text, your Natera bill is ready. What? I just paid it in full. They're disgusting. I'm not paying it.

00:12:59

There's a documentary.

00:13:00

Where is the Natera documentary?

00:13:02

I mean, the healthcare system in this country is so broken. It's broken.

00:13:05

But you guys know that.

00:13:06

You know that. I mean, I can't—

00:13:07

Amanda Francis knows that.

00:13:08

I can't even get into it.

00:13:09

And I won't, but just know, like, Natera, I've got my eyes on your billing department. Something's amiss there.

00:13:15

Yeah. Anyway, so that's your like money inspiration from Amanda Francis. Like, take the pieces of it that you need. I wouldn't say take the whole thing. I wouldn't say put a $700,000 wedding on your credit card.

00:13:26

Amanda—

00:13:27

To a man that you're already married and like have a family with and this changes nothing.

00:13:30

It's seriously a formality.

00:13:31

It changes nothing.

00:13:32

Amanda Francis is the Jim Cramer of our time.

00:13:35

To be seen.

00:13:37

Right. I'm waiting for the Amanda Francis documentary, and that does include her time in a cult. I actually think that's very interesting.

00:13:43

Um, it's— her story has yet to be written.

00:13:46

I know, and I think she's supposed to be writing it on The Real Housewives, but it's supposed to be on the—

00:13:50

She might be the Warren Buffett of our time. She might be. She might not be.

00:13:58

Mm-hmm.

00:14:00

But her story, the rest is still unwritten.

00:14:03

Well, I thought she was writing it. Remember, she was like typing up her memoirs. She writes multiple books. In the back of the Suburban.

00:14:08

She writes them herself.

00:14:09

Right, of course.

00:14:10

Don't get it twisted.

00:14:11

Speaking of, I saw Crystal Conklin Minkoff is back on TV.

00:14:14

What is she doing?

00:14:15

She works for Jeff Lewis, the radio host who like does Bravo stuff, um, and I guess they have a show now and Crystal Conklin is on it. She's kind of the hero character. People are loving her.

00:14:23

Hero character of a show?

00:14:25

Yeah.

00:14:26

A radio show? A TV show. They have a show on Bravo now.

00:14:28

Oh, what's it called?

00:14:29

Like Jeff Lewis Live. I don't know, like he— it's like another iteration of his like—

00:14:33

Radio show?

00:14:34

Yeah, I think—

00:14:35

His Talking Heads stuff?

00:14:36

Yeah, but it's not the actual radio show. It's like the drama behind it. It's like Vanderpump Rules of like SiriusXM.

00:14:41

And what is her role in it?

00:14:42

She's, I guess, like a personality on his show, and so she's like a part of the group, and there's like drama with the group.

00:14:47

And is she in the drama?

00:14:48

Yeah.

00:14:49

It's just so funny because the criticisms of her were like, no personality.

00:14:52

I know. No drama, like no And I was watching a clip and the comments were like, Crystal's my queen. Like they love her. And I'm like, you guys hated her when she was on.

00:15:00

You don't think for her to go on and have a career and like being a personality when like personality was the issue is—

00:15:05

Oh, I really didn't feel like personality was her issue. I just felt like she was just in the wrong group. She was like kind of like sensitive and like woke and like talking about people's language. It's like, girl, this is Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Like get outta here.

00:15:16

She just like gave nothing.

00:15:17

Gave, gave nothing.

00:15:18

Yes.

00:15:19

Except she had a glam life.

00:15:20

Of course.

00:15:21

No, no, no. The husband, the house.

00:15:23

Personalities and the dynamics and the women like gave nothing. She wasn't a good fit.

00:15:25

She wasn't a good fit with her ugly leather pants.

00:15:27

For her to now be like ratata.

00:15:30

I don't know what, like maybe she plays like sort of, I don't know what sort of role she plays like in the radio group.

00:15:35

But if you're in that world, like you're ratata.

00:15:37

No, actually I think Jeff is the ratata and everybody sort of has to like ratata around him. Like, you know, he's kind of like the big personality.

00:15:43

I don't know actually.

00:15:44

Me neither. I don't listen.

00:15:44

As evidenced by this conversation, I don't know.

00:15:46

But based on what I like think I know about Jeff Lewis is like, it's his thing, you know? And everyone else is sort of like, has to be comfortable being like supplemental characters. to the star.

00:15:54

Okay, that's fine.

00:15:55

Yeah, kind of like us Golden Globe nominees.

00:15:59

Nominating nominees.

00:16:01

Yeah.

00:16:02

Okay, let's get into the story since we sort of got into them already.

00:16:05

Oh, we also have Queenie and Weenie today, which I completely forgot to choose, but it'll come to me.

00:16:08

It always does.

00:16:10

It always does.

00:16:11

Without further ado, it is time for the Fast Side stories that you need to know. Very excited.

00:16:16

Today's episode is brought to you by Macy's, which we've been talking about all week. And actually, I don't know if I mentioned that I went to the mall over the weekend and one of the like sort of banner stores was Macy's. I had such an amazing shopping experience. Like, everyone's gearing up for holiday. I was obviously there for turd self. I needed some brassieres. Like, I needed things like for myself, like leggings, bras, things you guys don't see, but things like as a pregnant woman you must invest in. Um, and let me tell you, nothing tickles my fancy quite like the lingerie and intimates department of a Macy's. Because let me tell you, the women who work there, they know a female body better than a doctor, okay? They looked at me, they said, come here. I chose out some great bras.

00:16:52

Obviously I have special, you know, unique needs right now when it comes to brassieres.

00:16:54

I need some I need support, I need comfort. It's a lot of things. I don't need a bra that can make me nauseous potentially. So I got great bras. They also have fab designer duds. And when we were talking about being comfortable releasing money, of course Macy's came to mind. I bought some sunglasses from Celine. Also I bought, you know—

00:17:11

She released it with joy.

00:17:12

With joy. I bought you those leggings.

00:17:14

I got some leggings, some Reebok leggings that I'm wearing today.

00:17:17

They carry fab brands like Ralph Lauren, Burberry, Celine. Shopping in store and online with Macy's is always fab. Especially with the holiday season coming up, I think a lot of us, you know, We think it's October, we think we have time. You don't. You don't have time, and it's gonna creep up on you. And if you're shopping for the man in your life, a woman in your life, a child in your life, and you just wanna bang it all out in one store, let me tell you, Macy's is the place to go. First of all, I just love in-store. The people who work there are just smart. They know exactly what you're looking for, they know exactly where to find it. They have so much inventory, so much sizing. You can order stuff, you can send stuff. They also carry a bunch of different departments. So if you have somebody in your life who's like a huge beauty lover, Or like for Ben, I'm always looking in like the home department, looking for new knives. They have something for everyone. So whether you're a homemaker, a beauty trendsetter, a kid in your life, someone who's just like into the cozy lifestyle, I know a couple of people like that.

00:18:08

Macy's has everything you could possibly need. So again, like really high-end brands, really good pricing. They cover all different budgets. So if you're looking for something small or something a little bit more extravagant, you can get anything you really need off your list for anyone on your list at Macy's. And yeah, I can't even stress how like the experience I had at the store was just really wonderful. I feel like me and the saleslady made a real Q-nection, especially in the hosiery department. Hosiery. She saw something in me that I couldn't even see in myself, you know? And again, like Jackie got these fab leggings.

00:18:43

I got these fab leggings from Reebok. So I'll show you, I'm trying to show you guys, but I got these leggings.

00:18:47

She's into like her very sporty look. If you have like a sporty friend who like wears lots of high socks, Definitely check out the athleisure.

00:18:53

They've got—

00:18:53

Check out the sock department. Check out the sock— they have everything.

00:18:55

No, the hair department. That's what I'm saying.

00:18:56

The departments are departmenting.

00:18:58

You can find me in the kitchen department.

00:19:00

Yes, that's where I was.

00:19:01

Checking out the Lennox Butterfly collection.

00:19:03

That's what Ben and I were looking for. He was like in the market for some new knives.

00:19:06

He always is.

00:19:07

I know. So you could check out Macy's online gift guide for even more ideas, 'cause sometimes you walk into a store knowing exactly what you're looking for, and sometimes you walk into a store like feeling lost and lonely and depressed, or you go onto a website and you're like, I don't even know what to do. So check out the gift guides from Macy's, 'cause it really helps hone in on like what you're looking for, especially if you're looking for one department, whether that's like makeup, or, um, home, like we said. So check out Macy's online gift guides. You can shop in store for this holiday season and get ahead of the curve, 'cause like everybody is shopping and you're gonna be left behind. Today's episode is also brought to you by Jolie. Jolie is like kind of the beauty hack that everyone is talking about. So if you spend like so much time, money, energy on like your skincare products, your haircare products, you might not even be realizing like sort of the most basic thing missing is the water that you shower in, like not being premium and not being good for your hair and skin.

00:19:50

So Jolie is a beauty wellness company. They have a clinically proven showered— filtered shower head designed to remove chlorine and heavy metals that can damage your skin and hair. The shower head installs in minutes, fits all showers, and delivers amazing pressure and elevates any space. The small upgrade can make a significant difference in how your skin and hair feel all year long. So it's like so simple. I think obviously I'm a big fan of getting, you know, a $100 face cream and a special hair mask, but if you're not even showering with good water, it's all sort of pointless. And you will feel the difference in like in how your hair brushes. You ever get out of the shower and your hair is like crunchy and hard and just not good? There could actually be like chlorine in your water. So Jolie is such an easy swap. First of all, it's very aesthetic. So I think a lot of people feel afraid shop, uh, swap out their shower head because like, oh, I have this Pargee shower head. Well, it's probably not Pargee than the ones at Jolie. It comes in a bunch of different finishes.

00:20:33

It's really aesthetic and it installs in minutes and fits all showers, so it's universal. It's a very effortless way to elevate your daily routine. So before you do any skincare or haircare, just know that Jolie is the baseline, because if your water isn't right, nothing else is going to perform the way that it should. And just like from a shallow aesthetic point of view, your shower will look very chic. And if you have a shower head that you hate and that's ugly and you think you're just stuck with it, first of all, get a Jolie because it's good for your hair and skin. And 2, people don't realize like it's actually really easy to install and almost every shower it fits like it's party. Um, and then you're just gonna start feeling like you're at a luxury spa or an expensive hotel when you're taking a shower, which is amazing. So try Jolie risk-free for 60 days by going to jolieskinco.com/toast. That's jolieskinco.com/toast. Jolie is also available now in Target and Costco, both online and in store.

00:21:14

Thank you, intern.

00:21:15

You're welcome.

00:21:16

Our first story—

00:21:17

I just got heartburn. I like seriously can't take it.

00:21:19

I'm sorry, do you have Tums?

00:21:20

No, of course not. Like, why would I have Tums as a pregnant person who suffers constantly with tummy— like, why would I? Such a silly question. Why would I have a Tum?

00:21:28

Our first story.

00:21:30

Oh my God, we have a Tum. We have a Tum in studio. I'll take one.

00:21:32

Located.

00:21:33

One thing about me, and Dr. Fox is like such a big— I'm like, am I taking too many Tums? And he's like, there's no such thing. Like, calcium is so good for you. Yeah, I gotta get in my Pepcid game. In my first pregnancy, I was like— it got so bad, I was like, all right, we're taking Pepcid.

00:21:46

Yeah.

00:21:46

Daily.

00:21:48

Ugh. I'm sorry.

00:21:49

I'm fine. I'm fine. Don't worry. Like, seriously, everyone stop worrying.

00:21:51

Well, something good news for you. Taylor Swift will perform at the Academy Museum Gala. So Taylor Swift is set to perform at the upcoming Academy Museum Gala. The evening, which takes place on October 17th, serves as a fundraiser for and takes place at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles. So this is the event every year where everyone shows up.

00:22:08

Poses in front of the lamps.

00:22:09

They should. Yeah. And they, everyone's there.

00:22:11

Is this LACMA?

00:22:12

I think it's LACMA.

00:22:13

There's like 2 events every year that are black tie every A-lister goes to, and like we don't know what they're for and who they're about.

00:22:17

This is one of them. Everyone goes, everyone looks party. It's the crème de la crème, and Taylor is performing. Details are still under wraps, but it's likely that she will perform I Knew It, I Knew You from Toy Story.

00:22:29

Oh, because it's motion picture.

00:22:31

It's movies.

00:22:32

Right, right. Okay.

00:22:34

And the gala is considered a major stop for Oscar hopefuls. So she is gunning for an Oscar nomination. Oh, she's—

00:22:40

we're—

00:22:40

thank you so much for that, Sam.

00:22:41

We're very similar in that sense.

00:22:42

We are running a Golden Globes campaign, she's running an Oscars campaign, which will probably be us in a few years, so we should take note. I'll sing, okay?

00:22:49

She'll sing. I understand, you do what you gotta do. This will be a party event, everyone's always there. I hope her and Travis walk the carpet.

00:22:56

It won't be televised or anything, like we won't be able to see this, or maybe they'll—

00:22:58

No, no, no, we'll get that, like we'll get a video probably.

00:23:01

When I saw this, I thought she was performing at the Grammy Academy. You know they do those like little concerts and like she hasn't done one since 1989 where she wore the black turtleneck and like I've watched those videos on YouTube 1,000 times. I think she just did like an interview there and she's saying, I knew it, I knew you. She's like obviously on like an I knew it, I knew you tear.

00:23:16

Um, this is not that.

00:23:18

We won't be getting like party high quality YouTube videos that live in perpetuity forever, but fine, sure.

00:23:22

We'll probably get like some reels of her singing it, you know, just like how she did it when she did it at the Disney thing with the guy.

00:23:29

Randy.

00:23:30

Newman.

00:23:31

Yeah, I'm not gonna complain. Taylor Swift, like, leaving the house is good for the economy, it's good for my mental health. Um, obviously, like, I could always want more, but I'll take it.

00:23:39

Um, as Liz Woods pointed out, the Kardashians always go.

00:23:41

It's very interesting when Taylor goes to, like, very, um, populated events with other celebrities because she doesn't go to the Met Gala. She goes to her own thing. She goes to the Eras Tour and she goes to the Chiefs games, like, where she's the queen.

00:23:51

And she goes to the VMAs where she's the queen.

00:23:53

But she only shows up at award shows where she knows, like, her ops won't be and she's the number one most famous girl in the group. And so for her to go to like sort of a, a scene-y event, that's not her scene. Like, she doesn't really do that.

00:24:04

Yeah, I hope Travis goes with her even though it's October 17th, so we're still in season.

00:24:08

What day of the week? I don't know. Well, today's the 10th. Oh, it's a week from today.

00:24:12

And what day do the Chiefs play? Because you know it's not always on Sunday.

00:24:15

Yeah, I feel that a Friday—

00:24:16

Saturday night.

00:24:17

Yeah, no, it's not happening. So which like go-to friend will be her plus one?

00:24:22

This isn't working. Yeah.

00:24:24

Or maybe it's like, I feel like maybe this is one of his last years playing, so she's like really gonna be there for him. And then after he retires, like, he'll be there for her. And the plus one of the moment is Dakota, and she's obviously like an actress, so she might just be going as well.

00:24:36

Also, someone pointed out like they're Taylor and Dakota.

00:24:40

They're Taylor and Dakota, less talks.

00:24:43

Yeah, but that's crazy.

00:24:45

It is.

00:24:45

We were saying Taylor and Dakota and Taylor and Dakota.

00:24:47

Yeah, I guess like I don't know if I ever really sat down and thought that Dakota Mortensen?

00:24:53

The—

00:24:53

is that his name?

00:24:55

I think so. I don't know why it sounds like—

00:24:57

If it's not his name, whose name is it?

00:25:00

I agree.

00:25:01

Like, did we go to camp?

00:25:02

Yes, Dakota Mortensen.

00:25:04

Sometimes—

00:25:04

Did we go to camp with him?

00:25:05

Sometimes I'll say the name of someone on this show and it's like we're talking about a celebrity and I'll accidentally say like Taylor, and it's like someone we like randomly went to camp with that I'm not even friends with on Facebook. That's like comes from the deepest recesses of my mind, and I feel like mortified that I was even— so I was like, when you just were looking at me like that, I was like, Who? I'm like, is that our bully from middle school? Like, I was like, who's Dakota Mortensen? I got scared.

00:25:27

You should be scared of him.

00:25:28

I don't know if I ever knew on a conscious level that he has the same name as Dakota Johnson. Like, that's weird.

00:25:33

Yeah. And then like Taylor Swift and Taylor Frankie Paul.

00:25:36

Yeah.

00:25:36

And I guess there's like this like meme that goes around, like, are you gonna handle it like a Taylor Swift or a Taylor Frankie?

00:25:44

Unfortunately, like, I am gonna handle it like a Taylor Frankie. Um, but my goal throughout the years as I, you know, morph into a better woman, mother, sister, and friend, is to handle it like Taylor Swift.

00:25:54

Yeah.

00:25:54

But like, we— I have a little bit of Taylor Frankie Paul in me.

00:25:57

Yeah, I think everyone does, which is why—

00:25:59

You're supposed to like—

00:26:00

There's like a piece of her that people could relate to, you know? She's not perfect. She's messy.

00:26:06

Yeah.

00:26:06

But maybe we don't.

00:26:08

Maybe we don't.

00:26:09

Actually, I don't. I think even when I started watching the show, I never did. And that was something where I was like, I don't get this Taylor.

00:26:14

The hype. I actually agree with that.

00:26:16

But then she did a few things that endeared her to me, but I never really like felt like—

00:26:20

Saw any part of yourself in her?

00:26:21

No, no.

00:26:22

I actually agree.

00:26:22

Maybe everyone has a little bit of Taylor Frankie Paul in them except you.

00:26:26

Like, I don't see even like a little bit of her in there.

00:26:30

Like, I can't even explain.

00:26:31

Like, I really relate to her. Like, and this is something I'm really working on, and I do think I've gotten better.

00:26:36

Reaction.

00:26:36

I'm very reactive, and it's like in the moment I'm so angry and I think I'm so right, and then like a few minutes later I'm like, okay, that was too much. Like, I did too much. And then you like lose any ground you stand on. So I'm really working on that. I feel like I've gotten so much better.

00:26:47

You have. And I wouldn't even like— unless we're—

00:26:50

And hers are crazy.

00:26:51

Yeah, we're— because we're talking about it, I could see like, yes, you react, she reacts, but like when you're reacting, not like you're being Taylor.

00:26:56

No, no, no, no, but like we could all work on our reactions a little bit.

00:26:59

Piece of her. Yeah, me.

00:27:01

And she's like, it's so emotional. And like, me too, I'll always start crying. Like, it's not a good look. I really need to work on that.

00:27:06

Um, but no, I, I— there's no piece of me.

00:27:09

But no, but no.

00:27:10

Um, anyways, congratulations to Lorde. I hope you crush it. Break a leg.

00:27:15

And I hope somebody's there with like a high-quality camera. All these iconic performances like at the Met Gala that never get shown Seriously, what's the point? Celebrities don't even care.

00:27:23

Yeah.

00:27:23

I bet like literally no one's gonna be seated for Taylor's performance 'cause they're all like jealous and hate her and like they're gonna be in the bathroom with the Kardashians like smoking cigarettes.

00:27:28

I wonder which Kardashians will go. Like definitely Kylie and Timothée.

00:27:31

Definitely Kylie and definitely Kim and Louis.

00:27:33

Oh, Louis. Definitely Kim, like 'cause she fancies herself an actress now and like this is a huge affair. True.

00:27:39

But also the Kardashians like just go to every major event in Los Angeles.

00:27:42

And they're not scared and they're showing up with their sisters and they have like the industry at their back. Everybody's friends with them.

00:27:47

Like they're so powerful. This is their hometown.

00:27:48

But so is Taylor. But for some reason she runs scared. Like, why doesn't she still go to the Met Gala? She went for so long and—

00:27:55

She was on the board.

00:27:56

It was only after all the drama that she stopped going. But like, what are you— I don't think she's afraid of something, like, because she's not.

00:28:04

Right. And I do think a lot of times Taylor's just genuinely too famous to go to places. Like Beyoncé— actually, Taylor could take a note out of Beyoncé's book. Beyoncé goes nowhere, and that's so good for her image. Like, she's not going to the VMAs. Like, she's too cool for that. Like, she would never. And I think like Taylor sometimes shows up to things that she shouldn't show up to. But then she doesn't go to things that she should go to. Like, Beyoncé still every couple of years goes to the Met Gala.

00:28:23

Why doesn't she go to the Met Gala? What is the reason?

00:28:26

Well, I think she has a lot of Met Gala trauma. Of course, like Getaway Car, like that's where she met Tom Hiddleston.

00:28:30

That's not a reason. No, no, no. I'm not going to this amazing party anymore because I one time met a guy that I really liked at the Met Gala.

00:28:34

And it is, it's an important sort of chapter in her story. I don't know why, especially because it's like a big thing for like big athletes too, like Tom Brady and Gisele always. I don't know why she hasn't gone. Maybe now that she's married, maybe she will. And I think a lot of times, of course, scheduling conflicts with the Iris Tour or whatever. Maybe now.

00:28:52

No, something— there's tea. Maybe she has beef with Anna. It's not just that she's like afraid, it's Kardashian turf.

00:28:58

Well, yeah, and there also were many years where not only was she like Met Gala queen, but she was also like queen of Vogue. She was on the September issue like 2 years in a row, one time with Karlie Kloss. Like, you're like a darling of Condé Nast.

00:29:06

Yeah, and now it's only like Kim, Kylie, and Kendall who go.

00:29:10

Yeah, Khloé didn't have fun and Kourtney hated her outfit. And you know what? I hated it too.

00:29:14

Yeah. So I don't know, I think— I don't think it's just about that. I think there might be drama behind the scenes, like outside of the Kardashians. Taylor and Anna.

00:29:23

Yeah, or sometimes like I feel like Demi Lovato has spoken about the fact like she got to go to the Met Gala and it's like, yeah, so cool, but she had the worst time. She felt like everyone was staring at her, like she felt so insecure, she felt so out of place. She never went back. Like sometimes you just don't like it, but Taylor likes it.

00:29:36

Yeah, and she went so many times. Yeah, you can't say the same thing. No, someone should look into that.

00:29:41

I feel like Lili Reinhart also went and hated it and talked shit about it, but I feel like Lili Reinhart's kind of had a lobotomy. Don't you feel that? I feel like the Lili Reinhart we know now is so different than the Lili Reinhart who got famous with Riverdale, 'cause she was kind of radical. She was always against the institution and she didn't wanna be too skinny.

00:29:57

And too pretty.

00:29:58

Yeah, and she hated that Kim wore a corset that made her look skinny, and she was a very anti-establishment celebrity, and I feel like that didn't work for her, and now she's just like, yeah, I'm—

00:30:07

I fall in line, I'm pretty, and here's a pretty dress. Yeah, and I'm a woman in a rom-com.

00:30:11

And please forgive me.

00:30:13

Yeah, I feel like I could see her now like regretting having said those things about the Met Gala.

00:30:17

Yeah.

00:30:18

'Cause I don't think that gets you invited back, like saying negative things.

00:30:20

No, she's honestly, she has closed her mouth a bit.

00:30:22

No, I'm telling you, she's had a change of heart. Maybe it's just like growing up, like you get famous at a young age and like you're allowed to change your mind about things. But she, I feel like she's so different than the gal that we once knew.

00:30:31

Maybe. Or maybe like she started, her career suffered 'cause like—

00:30:35

Well, of course. No one wants to work with that mouthy ass. Yeah, when you're always just like mouthing off about something, like you're always complaining, like, I don't like—

00:30:42

No, she's very familiar.

00:30:42

Coming for other women too. It's like, okay, well stop coming for everyone. Like, what did she come at Kim for? Oh, for doing like a crash diet on the Marilyn Manson— Marilyn Monroe dress? It's like, okay.

00:30:55

Yeah, maybe it's just like—

00:30:57

Well, who's skinny now?

00:30:57

Also, part of growing up is like not everything you think and feel has to be said.

00:31:01

On a platform, like—

00:31:02

It just doesn't have— you don't have to say everything that you think. Like, and so maybe she just is saying less, or it affected her career. Nobody wanted— I don't know.

00:31:10

Or she just like grew up. Like, sometimes you get famous at a young age and you're like a young radical.

00:31:14

I don't think she grew out of it.

00:31:14

I just wanna say.

00:31:15

Yeah, no, I think— She's like wearing that pink dress and she's going home and burning it.

00:31:20

Yeah. Like the girl who is like doing this Love Hypothesis press tour, wearing all these iconic, being like, so like all these movies where we're getting all this attention based off of her looks and all these movies that don't pass the Bechdel test. She would never back in the day.

00:31:32

She's burning them when she gets home. I'm telling you, I'm telling you, she hasn't changed. But like, I don't like change or don't change. It didn't bother me.

00:31:38

I like, I like the movie.

00:31:39

Yeah.

00:31:40

I like The Love Hypothesis.

00:31:41

And like, I'm sorry that, but you are pretty. I'm sorry that happened to you.

00:31:43

Stop hiding it! That reminds me of my favorite— oh, add it to the list of phrases that I love— is when Boy George said to Chaperone, the world is at your feet, stop kicking it.

00:31:54

Phrases. Good terms and phrases and quotes.

00:31:57

Oh, do we have a list like that already?

00:31:59

Uh, yes we do.

00:31:59

So add, it's not a bug, it's not a feature.

00:32:01

Okay.

00:32:02

Or no, it's a feature, not a bug. Stealing Peter to pay Paul.

00:32:08

Robbing Peter to pay Paul.

00:32:10

What did I say? That's what I said. That's what I said. And then the world is at your feet, stop kicking it. You know, I don't think that's a phrase. I think that's a Boy George original.

00:32:18

I think so too.

00:32:21

All phrases got to start somewhere.

00:32:22

Would you like to know your other favorites?

00:32:23

Yeah, what else did we put on that?

00:32:25

So there are a couple things.

00:32:26

Is Flo Burt on there?

00:32:27

No, but there are a couple different ones, like, like using words as an adjective, like a Rachel Dolezal Oh yeah, we should Rachel Dolezal more. Um, the call is coming from inside the house.

00:32:39

Well, that one has gained like a lot of popularity. Yes, it's— I think when we added it to the list it was underrated and now it's pretty rated.

00:32:45

We all have a role to play in the war to come.

00:32:47

I love that one.

00:32:48

Love that. Don't interrupt your enemy when he's making a mistake.

00:32:52

That is a great phrase.

00:32:53

Critical. Uh, another adjective, word adjective, sparky palastri.

00:32:59

We do not use sparky palastri as a verb enough.

00:33:01

Yeah. Then some other additions is the blank in the room. This is under a section. This is old. Claudia's additions.

00:33:08

Yeah, this is old. Like when people started saying that on the internet, it was such a good— people being like, Toni looks so glam. And someone's like, is the glamor in the room with us? Like now it's overplayed.

00:33:18

Yeah.

00:33:18

But I remember saying I wanted to like start saying it more cuz when I would see people saying it online, I thought it was really funny and smart.

00:33:23

And we do. I think we said it more.

00:33:24

And no, it's been beat to death.

00:33:25

Our goal was achieved.

00:33:25

Yes. Agreed.

00:33:26

Um, multitude of sins. Mm-hmm. And then, history is written by the victors.

00:33:31

That's a chilling one when you think about it.

00:33:32

And then like another enter and then just eating crow.

00:33:35

Okay, dark.

00:33:38

That's the list.

00:33:41

Okay, another day, another list.

00:33:42

Another day, another list. Um, are you ready for our next story? Meghan Markle was spotted out to dinner with Malala.

00:33:51

You're kidding me. Girl, G-N-O.

00:33:54

Yeah, no, Megan and Malala in, um—

00:33:56

One thing about Malala, she's gonna show up where you least expect her to. Like, the fact that she's like a women's rights activist who was shot in the face is just merely like a small fact about her, because she's also just like a girl. I think she went to the Eras Tour. Like, you obviously wouldn't expect to see Malala Yousafzai at the Eras Tour, but it's like, why not? She's just a girl.

00:34:10

Of course not. The girl who wants to enjoy her girlhood, right?

00:34:12

And whose girlhood was like literally almost taken from her. Yes, by the Taliban.

00:34:16

And like, the point is to go to the Eras Tour.

00:34:18

No, of course. And I don't know why I just like put her in a box of like serious young women.

00:34:21

But yeah, she's only She's only 29.

00:34:23

No, and it's like, where would a 29-year-old— the Eras Tour.

00:34:26

Yeah.

00:34:26

I don't know if she went to the Eras Tour, but I'm using that as like— she's always like going places. I'm like, yeah. At first I'm like, oh, that's weird. I'm like, wait, no, it's not. Like, it's literally just Malala.

00:34:33

Like, she's just enjoying her freedom.

00:34:35

Yeah, literally.

00:34:36

And she took her freedom to meet up with Meghan Markle.

00:34:38

And you know what?

00:34:39

London. They went to the foyer and reading room at Claridge's, the famed hotel in London's Mayfair neighborhood. I've heard of it. It was a catch-up between friends is what a source tells People magazine. Well, Malala's 29. I didn't know that.

00:34:52

Obviously she has a maturity beyond her And it's like funny, 'cause to me she's like 100, but also 17. 'Cause like she's famous for the— She's a young girl. Known for the thing that happened to her when she was a young girl. But she's such a serious activist that I'm like, okay, but she's also 50.

00:35:05

Yeah, no, but she's 29 and Meghan's 45. So sort of unlikely friends, but not really.

00:35:10

No, I would say unlikely friends.

00:35:11

Oh, okay. Okay.

00:35:12

I mean, they both like— Meghan is about women, right? Like she's always— she shares that video about the dishwashing pods.

00:35:19

Meghan is about women. That's a good point.

00:35:21

Do you know the dishwashing pod story? Of course I do.

00:35:23

When she wrote in—

00:35:23

She wrote a letter to like the Canadian dishwashing company. that was like doing commercials for their dishwasher like soap, and Meghan was mad that like the only people in the commercials doing dishes were women. And like, sorry that they accurately reflected culture, because like I've never seen my husband do the dishes.

00:35:36

Marketed to people who use their product because—

00:35:38

But like, I respect the message.

00:35:40

And if you saw a commercial of like man doing dishes, like—

00:35:43

I wouldn't buy that soap, actually.

00:35:44

Like, that product is—

00:35:45

It's inferior. No, no, if I actually saw like a commercial for dishwashing pods and it all men doing the dishes. I would say, oh, okay. Um, obviously this company is inferior. Like their soap can't even be used by men. 'Cause I've seen my husband do the dishes. So you're telling me he's using the soap I wouldn't use?

00:36:02

No. And I would say like, oh, so then men who do dishes will buy that soap and you'll have zero customers.

00:36:06

Good luck with your sales. But she is, she's woman, you know, female founder confessional.

00:36:12

Yes.

00:36:13

So I see where they probably talked a lot about women.

00:36:16

Yeah. And just like, I feel like they are in the same world of like—

00:36:19

Definitely upper echelon. They're also like upper echelon activists, philanthropists.

00:36:24

philanthropist.

00:36:24

And I wouldn't even call it like human— her a celebrity. Yeah, right. Top tier.

00:36:29

Yeah.

00:36:30

I hope they had fun. You think they had cocktails? You think Malala drinks? For sure.

00:36:33

I mean, why not? A little—

00:36:35

When you've been shot in the face, I feel like there's nothing you won't do. Malala totally knows. She has like a Negroni, you know?

00:36:42

Oh, you think so?

00:36:43

1,000%.

00:36:44

I think Meghan has a white wine.

00:36:46

Oh, Meghan is so Sancerre.

00:36:49

Like, and I just feel like Whenever you're— if there's 2 people out to dinner, like, you, you split. Like, you drink the same thing.

00:36:54

Oh, a bottle.

00:36:54

I'll have what she's having.

00:36:56

Yeah, even though— yeah.

00:36:57

Like, I'm not drinking white wine and you're drinking tequila unless we're both doing cocktails.

00:37:02

Unless you're going out with me and it's like, I don't care what you're having, I'm getting the same thing no matter what.

00:37:05

Claudia.

00:37:06

Yeah, like, I'm not a sharer. Oh, you're getting a—

00:37:08

Claudia, you have such a wild side that everyone should get to know.

00:37:13

You sing and you dance at any place we go. Can't wait to see my big sis Olivia tonight.

00:37:18

Are you— oh, you are seeing her?

00:37:19

Mm-hmm.

00:37:20

Of course you are.

00:37:21

Shabbat.

00:37:22

Um, so cute.

00:37:24

Cute.

00:37:24

Girls night.

00:37:25

Our next story is a little podcasting news. Uh, I just saw this coming in.

00:37:30

Is it about the Golden Globes?

00:37:31

No, it's about our fellow Golden Globes nominee nominee. Joe Rogan has renewed another 9-figure Spotify deal.

00:37:39

You're kidding. Is this his 3rd one?

00:37:41

So I think so. The relationship started in 2020, and they are extending that relationship. Under the agreement, Spotify will continue to handle ad sales and licensing for Joe Rogan, which is available across multiple services. Terms have not, uh, been disclosed.

00:37:55

You know, everybody tries to keep their numbers under wraps and nobody does. Like, I feel like the Gigli Squad number wasn't released and then like insiders came out and shared. Joe Rogan's like never really get released.

00:38:04

No, they do. And it's— he's estimated— and the Gigli Squad was a similar thing where it's like they didn't say this is it, but But it's the streets, right? The streets say an estimated earnout of $250 million over the term. That was—

00:38:16

I think, I think his last deal was $250 and then the first one was like $100.

00:38:19

Yeah. And his new deal is similar to the one that was $250. That's what the—

00:38:23

you know, he might be the first podcasting billionaire.

00:38:27

He, he's on his way.

00:38:28

He's trending.

00:38:28

Yeah.

00:38:29

Oh, oh, and Spotify has this new thing, not new, but where you can see, um, cuz like you can't really see how many people listen to a podcast.

00:38:37

Like, mm-hmm.

00:38:37

So a lot of people like look like they have a lot of listeners, maybe they don't. Or a lot of people don't look like they have a lot of listeners and they do. And yeah, like—

00:38:44

On Spotify you can see, that's the only platform they give you metrics like 50K, 100K.

00:38:49

3 million, 1 million, 2 million plus, 1 million plus, 2 million. Like almost all of his episodes, this one for Andrew Huberman, 4 million. The Luke Combs one is 7 million. So it's like, I don't know how many podcasters are at that level. Like those are insane numbers.

00:39:03

Insane numbers to sustain over so long. Spotify said of him, Joe has built something incredibly enduring and his show continues to resonate with a massive audience. massive global audience because there's simply nothing else like it.

00:39:13

And you know what else is that, um, I feel like when Spotify wanted to enter the podcast game, 'cause we now, like every time I listen to a podcast, I listen to it on Spotify. But back in the day, like that really wasn't the case. So they made this like concerted effort to start like snatching up shows. And Joe was the first one they snatched up. And I feel like probably their most successful, like—

00:39:29

Of course.

00:39:29

In terms of getting people to switch, like to do, 'cause people listen to Joe Rogan, like listen to a lot of podcasts.

00:39:34

Like it was kind of smart. No, but they had to switch because it was only on Spotify for years. Now it's on Apple again, but it doesn't even matter. People are accustomed to listening on Spotify.

00:39:41

Yeah, but I'm saying like the type of people he brought to Spotify, like, are people who probably listen to a lot, like Huberman and all the— Tim Dillon. And so now they ended up listening to all of their podcasts on Spotify. And I feel like if I'm at Spotify, yeah, give him whatever he wants.

00:39:52

Yeah. They said Spotify's podcast business has grown alongside JRE over the years and we're excited to keep building on that partnership for years to come. Yeah. Like, talk about delivering in your partnership.

00:40:01

Yeah. I feel jealous. Of course, $250 million is just like an— like, I actually feel no amount of money is like enough for me, but that really And then of course I have to split it with you.

00:40:10

Well, I've heard that $200 million like is the sweet spot for net worth. I don't know, maybe like a Reels or something.

00:40:17

For a net worth?

00:40:18

For a net worth. Because like any higher and you're a monster, and like it's not real and you're not like living, you're just out of touch, obviously.

00:40:25

Obviously.

00:40:26

But $200 million, you get everything you want and enjoy it.

00:40:30

Yes, but you can also lose $200 million. And I think like the threat of being able to go broke, not It should keep you sharp. Humble, hardworking. 100%. I don't think Elon Musk could go broke if he wanted to. You know what I mean?

00:40:45

Mm-hmm.

00:40:45

And that's threatening.

00:40:48

Yeah. But Elon is different even from other like billionaires. He doesn't even have a home.

00:40:53

Oh yeah. He's one of those Shailene Woodley types. Sorry.

00:40:55

Jeff Bezos.

00:40:55

Let's say Jeff Bezos.

00:40:57

Yeah. Yeah.

00:40:59

Um, that, just wanna say, I know I've said this once and I'll say it again, will never be me.

00:41:02

No, I know.

00:41:03

They say like, if I win the lottery, I won't say, but there will be signs.

00:41:06

And I just wanna say about Joseph, though, of course, you know, green with envy over his deal. Like, it's also so great what he does for, like, that—

00:41:15

For fellow podcasters.

00:41:15

For fellow podcasters that, like, he, like, he sets the bar and then he also meets it. Like, some people get a huge deal and they don't deliver, and then those huge deals don't go out.

00:41:23

Don't come to other podcasters.

00:41:24

Don't go, you know what I mean?

00:41:25

Yes. And he also, like, lifts up a lot of other podcasters on his show.

00:41:30

Like, He's doing good work in the industry.

00:41:33

It's true, it's good for the medium.

00:41:35

It is. He is the medium.

00:41:36

Well, obviously I'm jealous. I am extremely happy for you, Joe. You did it, Joe.

00:41:42

We did it, Joe.

00:41:43

We didn't do anything.

00:41:44

We did it.

00:41:45

We did?

00:41:46

And if you have them like sitting in a box in your attic or your basement thinking like, oh, I'll do it one day, you should just do it now because you might not realize, like, first of all, they can get like moldy and they can like actually be destroyed, um, or like a flood, you know. You have to think about the elements. So they make it very simple with Legacy Box. You fill it up, send in all your old media— VHS tapes, camcorder tapes, photos, films, DVDs. Their team will digitally preserve everything by hand, and then you will get it all back on the cloud so you can easily revisit those memories, share them with your friends and family, and even stream them on your TV So consider this your sign to finally find out what's actually on those mystery VHS tapes.

00:46:28

What can I say except you're welcome?

00:46:34

Our next story, Crazy Rich Asians is returning for an HBO sequel series with original stars. So Crazy Rich Asians, the beloved movie— The best movie ever made to watch on a plane. officially receiving a sequel series on HBO. A lot of the main characters are reprising their roles from the film. Constance Wu and Henry Golding are coming back as Rachel Chu and Nick Young, and Ronny Chieng and Michelle Yeoh are also reprising their roles. So Ronny is the cousin Eddie and Michelle's the mother-in-law.

00:47:03

Um, love this. I'm like, I hate sequels. I hate when people like don't let sleeping dogs lie, but this movie is so good. And yeah, sure. And Constance Wu, like, I'm cheering for her. Like, she got canceled just for like being a bitch, you know? And it's like, okay, who hasn't been?

00:47:17

You're the only one who stuck to her.

00:47:18

Yeah, I know. I feel like she was really treated unfairly. Like, I'm sure she was a bitch. Like, okay, it's literally not a crime. Like, I'm just so over it. Um, and I feel like she had like a concerted effort a few years ago to like come back, and like it didn't really stick either. And I kind of feel bad for her. Like, I don't remember what she did, but I just remember it being like not that bad.

00:47:34

I don't remember exactly, but yeah, it was just like being mean. But maybe she just wasn't at a place in her career where she could like withstand those allegations. She still needed like new parts and like to curry favor.

00:47:44

And nobody wanted to work with her.

00:47:45

And nobody wanted to work with her.

00:47:47

So it does feel like more than that, 'cause it like, I guess like the public was the one who canceled her. But like, if the industry has your back, like you'll—

00:47:54

No, it felt like industry. The public doesn't care.

00:47:56

No, it felt like she got kind of like blackballed.

00:47:57

Yeah. The public doesn't care.

00:47:59

Right.

00:47:59

What happened on your set really? Like, OMG, was mean.

00:48:01

And it's like on a, I think on a subconscious level, we know that every single celebrity is like a nasty little bitch. Yeah. And it's like some have better ways of hiding it.

00:48:07

It's true. And like plenty of people like J.Lo and Mariah Carey have like those diva allegations. And we love it. And it's just like—

00:48:14

Excuse me, Naomi Campbell threw a cell phone at her assistant's face.

00:48:17

It's just part of their brand.

00:48:20

100%.

00:48:20

And I think it was more industry than anything else because the public really doesn't care like that on your set she barked an order for her lunch. Like they don't care.

00:48:30

It's such a, like when I really think about it at a glance, she was on that show Fresh Off the Boat with Randall Park. It was so popular.

00:48:36

So good.

00:48:36

And then Crazy Rich Asians. I was like, literally, what happened to her?

00:48:40

Hustlers.

00:48:40

Hustlers. That was like a good role for her.

00:48:43

Mm-hmm. But just like—

00:48:43

But didn't stick.

00:48:44

Not a lot of momentum. Meanwhile, a lot of people from the original movie have gone on to do big things.

00:48:48

Michelle Yeoh, Wicked.

00:48:50

Mm-hmm. Jon M. Chu, the director.

00:48:52

Oh, it's Crazy Rich Asians Jon M. Chu. You know what? I see like the Wicked vibe in like the way that the visual of the Crazy Rich Asians movie is. Love this. Like, I don't know what the premise is.

00:49:03

Maybe it's like their kids having like a, So it's going to be 8 episodes, delve into the characters and the worlds of Kevin Kwan's books. So I think there are sequel books.

00:49:12

Oh, you know what? There are sequel books.

00:49:14

Yep. So they get to work, and Jon M. Chu is coming back.

00:49:18

It's already written.

00:49:18

It's already written.

00:49:18

And it's not gonna be bad.

00:49:19

It can't be bad. I would actually love another movie. I don't know why they're gonna do, maybe just series are more profitable than movies these days.

00:49:26

Yeah. But yeah, why not a Crazy Rich Asians sequel? Especially there's like a running joke on the internet that like when you get on a plane, like the first thing you have to do is put on Crazy Rich Asians. It has like a resurgence with a younger audience too. I think there's like, it would be such a good time to do a movie.

00:49:39

I agree. It must be more profitable to do a series. Like, the movies just aren't what they used to be.

00:49:44

And a lot of books don't have sequels. So like when they make a sequel out of a book, like it's like, okay, you're just making shit up. Um, but like Game of Thrones famously had like a million books and that was done really well. So when books have sequels and then the sequels also get turned— Twilight.

00:49:57

No, one of my goals in life has been to learn mahjong so I could finally understand what happened in that final scene. between Rachel and the mother-in-law when like she obviously did something very gracious towards the mother-in-law and letting her win.

00:50:09

So Rachel had mahjong, but she didn't call it because she knew the piece that the mom needed. So she waited till she got the piece and literally gave it to her and then walked away and showed her tiles being like, I had mahjong the whole time, but like I let you win and I let you think that you won. 'Cause she was walking away from the relationship.

00:50:24

I need to watch it.

00:50:25

Yeah, she was walking away.

00:50:27

I need to watch it.

00:50:27

And I guess the piece was the boy, the son.

00:50:30

And it's like, you win, but because I let you win.

00:50:33

Exactly.

00:50:35

I have to watch it now.

00:50:36

Yeah, chills. A truly beautiful metaphor. Culturally relevant. Beautiful.

00:50:41

Oh, I really should watch it again.

00:50:43

Like, it's just such a good movie.

00:50:44

It really is.

00:50:46

Awkwafina.

00:50:46

So this is gonna be great.

00:50:47

Love. I approve. And you know, I hate when people can't come up with original ideas, but you know what, I'm okay with this.

00:50:52

But this isn't even like them excavating something that did— like, there's more The movie was huge.

00:50:57

Great.

00:50:58

Yeah.

00:50:58

Are you ready for our next, our 5th and final story?

00:51:01

I am.

00:51:02

Karen Reed series has been ordered at Amazon starring—

00:51:06

Karen as Karen Reed?

00:51:07

Elizabeth Banks as Karen Reed.

00:51:11

Oh.

00:51:12

I mean, why not?

00:51:14

It took me a second to like place Elizabeth Banks. At first I thought you were gonna say Elizabeth Olsen, and I was excited about that. I don't know why, I can't see Elizabeth Banks doing like a good job at anything serious. Like she's so like, meh, you know?

00:51:26

Well, so was Karen Reed, right?

00:51:27

Karen Reed, but like, it's such a serious story. Like, she was accused of murder. No, and Karen Reed is not—

00:51:32

she's not a big—

00:51:33

she's like a tough Boston cookie. Like, she's crazy.

00:51:35

She's intense though. She's like the character. Intense.

00:51:38

No, intense is the perfect word, but serious as far as we know her in her public life.

00:51:43

Yeah. Um, Amazon Video has ordered the scripted Karen Reed series starring and executive produced by Elizabeth Banks. It'll be 8 episodes. drama.

00:51:54

Okay.

00:51:55

Inspired by Law and Crime and Audible.

00:52:00

Oh, it's based on a podcast? Oh, I guess Amazon also had a— probably an original podcast about it.

00:52:04

By the Law and Crime and Audible original podcast Karen.

00:52:08

Karen, that's a good name.

00:52:09

That's a good name for the show too.

00:52:10

Yeah.

00:52:10

Yeah.

00:52:11

Um, okay.

00:52:12

Not to be confused with that movie. Karen with, um, Taryn Manning from Crossroads. I get clips of that movie sometimes. Like not in the way I get clips of Girl in the Basement.

00:52:23

Oh, okay. I meant to tell you, the movie I'm currently watching on Reels is Girl in the Basement, which is based on a true story. It's chilling.

00:52:29

With the father?

00:52:29

The father.

00:52:30

I know.

00:52:30

And the kids.

00:52:31

It's disgusting.

00:52:32

And the kids they brought upstairs.

00:52:33

I've seen it on Reels.

00:52:34

Oh my God. That movie was very upsetting.

00:52:36

She finally goes to the nurse and keeps walking.

00:52:37

And she's running. I also didn't know, 'cause I watched it, I'm like, oh, this is an Oscar-nominated movie. It's a Lifetime movie. Do you know that?

00:52:43

Of course. A lot of Reels movies are.

00:52:44

Oh, I didn't know that. I didn't know that.

00:52:46

I hadn't hit that tab. 'Cause if you like the high drama storyline, and they only have to find the best bits, It's— they're ripe for like a straight-to-reels movie.

00:52:55

Um, Karen the movie with Taryn Manning was a crazy time. 1,000%. So Karen Reid the story, or Karen Taryn Manning? We'll see which is better.

00:53:09

Taryn Manning. Um, and that sort of ended her career.

00:53:13

She's had an interesting career. No, it didn't end her career. She like comes and goes. It's like she was literally from Crossroads for a decade. Then she just came and got a role on Orange Is the New Black, which I think gave us a bit of a resurgence, but then she disappeared for a little bit. Then she came back for that one random movie, Karen, and I haven't seen her since.

00:53:31

No, that movie Karen is career-ending.

00:53:33

I agree.

00:53:34

As it should be.

00:53:35

I look forward to seeing what she does next in a few years.

00:53:38

But in the meantime, Elizabeth Banks is playing Karen Reed. I think I will continue to ignore the story in general.

00:53:44

I might watch it.

00:53:44

As I did during the trial. And, you know, you just can't take everything on, really.

00:53:48

You really can't.

00:53:49

Um, time for Queenie and Weenie of the Week.

00:53:51

Yes.

00:53:52

Obviously the Queenies are the nominees to be—

00:53:56

I didn't want to say it.

00:53:57

But obviously.

00:53:58

Yeah, and I would say that the Weenies are everybody else on the list because good luck thinking you're gonna beat us.

00:54:04

And the Queenies are obviously—

00:54:06

The Golden Globes for recognizing us and like seeing in us what we do see in ourselves. But—

00:54:10

And you know what, I would say also for the Golden Globes for taking a chance on us because obviously like we should be nominated for everything all the time, but we—

00:54:18

A lot of people are afraid.

00:54:19

We don't get nominated, and then they all go from like the same list of like, oh, the 4 podcasts, whatever. And thank you for taking a chance and like recognizing us.

00:54:28

And it takes such like critical thinking skills, honestly, to be like the first one to be like, nobody wants to be the first.

00:54:33

Girls are doing—

00:54:34

nobody wants to be the first.

00:54:35

Nobody wants to be the first.

00:54:35

Golden Globes, Queenie.

00:54:37

That video you were telling me about, about the girl. And then yeah, weenies will be Our loser—

00:54:41

the losers, not us.

00:54:43

It won't be us because even if we don't win—

00:54:46

We're winners, baby.

00:54:47

We're winners.

00:54:48

Thank you guys. Have an amazing day. We'll see you on Monday.

00:54:50

Love ya.

00:54:51

Bye.
