Good morning, girlies, it's The Toast. It's Jax and Claude and we're your hosts. It's your favorite show, the fast 5 things you need to know. We'll start your day off swirly, it's The Toast. I sound amazing. Welcome back to The Toast and happy Monday.
Hope everybody had an amazing weekend. Hope everybody's feeling poor about themselves after last night's Victoria's Secret Fashion Show because that's the way it should be.
Is that how you feel after watching it? That's not how I feel.
No, that's not how I feel, but that's what I want from my Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Like, yes, I am a pregnant woman who never lost the baby weight postpartum. Like, I wanna feel hurt. Now, they don't know I'm such a confident woman, but I feel like the goal that they had was to make me feel bad, and I loved it.
I don't know what the goal that they had was.
They're obviously like in this transitional period.
They're so struggling, and they said, you know, You know what, let's throw Kylie Jenner at the problem, which is always a really good solution for your brand. Like Meta did it.
Worked on me.
Works on me.
And— Except it didn't work for Meta. Those glasses are stupid as hell, like for real. And everybody who buys them, like, I think you're dumb.
Well, it was as good of an idea as they could have ever had.
No, if we ever have budget, like for any sort of campaign, whether we're hawking merch or—
Kylie Jenner.
Kylie Jenner for Toast Studios. Like, yes, 1,000%. That's the goal. Of course we're gonna talk about the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. It's one of our stories.
That's our first story actually.
There's actually so much going on, like Over the weekend, Val.
Uh-huh.
I watched a lot of TV, so I just wanna talk about that.
The Academy Museum Gala.
The gala, yes, it was kind of a fab weekend.
It was, we have a lot of stories. I wasn't like plugged in this weekend, but of course these things— Came across your desk. Bounce to me. Yes, I don't think I watched TV. I actually did something crazy.
Read a book?
I read a short story.
How short, like a children's book?
No, it's probably like 100 pages, so I was—
We need more books that are 100 pages.
And it's Frieda McFadden.
Was it one of her like Kindle Unlimited?
Well, I don't know because I read the physical book because I had lunch at my friend's house on Saturday and she was like, I'm gonna have to give you this book. And I was like— and I think I'm sort of in my physical book era right now because I'm buying books for my bookshelves and like I wanna own all the books I read. I wanna stunt on them hoes.
It's, you know, it, you, it depends on the types of books you're reading whether you wanna enter. Some books are meant to only exist on a Kindle.
But if you take the COVID off, They're gorgeous. I don't care if you're reading porn.
No, no, I'm sorry. Even porn. Like sometimes the titles of these books, like it's humiliating and they can only— so between me and my Kindle.
No, I'm telling you it's okay. Like it's the covers that are throwing off. Like when it's just a bound book with a little gold lettering, who cares what it says? So I'm starting to buy more books and she lent me a book and I read it.
Short stories are like everything to me.
And it was a Frida short story and it just like, it made me wanna read more. I have like now 2 things that I wanna read. Before Redheads, like I need to read Calamity Club. Have you been hearing about it?
I have.
Everybody's talking about Calamity Club. What
do you consider a short story?
If you saw the book, you, it's a pamphlet.
Like, ugh, love. It's a pamphlet. Like literally love.
Yeah. Less than an hour's worth of reading.
Oh wow. Yeah. I wish you had been some, it's like a good gateway for people who like, you wanna encourage them to read.
I should give it to you because you would just read it in a night. And it made me realize how much I like reading, how much calmer I am. Like my nervous system. Mm-hmm. is in a relaxed state.
It's such a good way to like pass the time. It's so good for you. I know everyone knows that, but—
No, I know. And every time I read for the Redheads, I'm like, I should do this more.
I know, I know, I know, I know. But then I don't. But life gets in the way.
Life gets in the way and then Dancing with the Stars and my phone. And so it was really nice. And
although all these TV shows being adapted like does make me wanna read more, 'cause like it's like elite to be a person who also read the book.
Yes. Yes.
I watched Off Campus again over the weekend.
No, I think I'm going to become an elite reader again.
Slay mama. There were years we were doing like 60 books a year. Ugh, I'm, I'm at like maybe 4 books a year.
I'm at like 15 because of redheads.
That's good to have redheads.
But, um, yeah, yeah, yeah. I love that.
Yeah. I did not read. I watched a lot of TV. I rewatched Off Campus. It's literally like, you know how when you go to the Sistine Chapel, like you see new things every time? Yeah. It's the most amazing show ever. Like I cannot wait for the second season. But also I watched, I'm so like duality of woman. I watched a Norm Macdonald, um,
Documentary.
You would love it. Like, you would love it. 'Cause it's like Norm Macdonald, they talk like a lot of people from SNL either go on to extreme fame or like literally disappear. And then there's Norm Macdonald. He just like sort of middled his whole career. And the tea on why he middled was like piping. I feel like if you were alive back then, the documentary really was titillating. But he like, not it being—
Wait, wait, yeah.
Oh, really?
Yeah, I don't wanna know. I don't know anything about Norm Macdonald. I've seen a couple of his tweets have resurfaced posthumously.
Yes, his tweets. Well, then they also talk about his Twitter era. Like he also had like a new career in his 50s and 60s. '60s because of Twitter. Being a tweeter. He just like joined and he was very intellectual. I don't know anything about him. He like read a lot of Tolstoy. So he would have these like deeply profound but also funny tweets. Um, and people in the industry just like loved him. And like when you watch a documentary, you really understand why.
Okay, and I wanna kind of go into it blind, so no spoilers.
It was really good. And I just wanna say I'm not like a Norm fan. I just like needed something to watch.
Do you think you're a Norm fan now? Are you a Normie?
Um, well, Norm is dead. I don't know if you— oh, if you know that.
Yeah, of course.
Um, so am I a posthumous fan?
It's a great loss.
You know what, I don't know. Like, I never— his— one of his great— he like is known for SNL Weekend Update. He was the host for 4 years. And then also he was the head writer on Roseanne. Like, both things I never really like watched.
Which Roseanne?
OG Roseanne. And that's why he got canceled years later, 'cause when Roseanne was getting canceled, he was like defending his friend. He was like, I know her, she's my friend. And he like loved her so much. And same with Louis C.K. So he was just kind of like—
A charnosaur.
He was batting like zero with all of his friends. And, um, oh, he didn't care. Like, he really didn't care. Um, Highly recommend. It's on Netflix and it was done by Judd Apatow. And it was— there was no— I, I don't even know if you can call it a documentary. There was no people in it. It was just like stitched together using his audiobook and clips of his.
Okay.
It was kind of like kind of well done. Judd.
Can't wait.
Yeah, I highly recommend. Yeah, it's good.
The next time I forget what I want to watch, someone just like remind me. Okay.
Yeah, you're not keeping up with your content plate anymore?
I guess I could get my phone out.
Sure. It's always a good time to
Let's see what's on there.
Things you definitely never watched.
Let's see. Yeah, things that go on the contemplate to die.
It's true. It's like if you put it on your list of things to watch, you're never gonna watch it.
Okay, actually something that can come off of it is Nobody Wants This.
You watched it? I
did watch it. Now I'm adding Norm Macdonald. Uh,
what else is on there that I know you didn't watch?
Sex Lives of College Girls. I think I meant to watch like the last season and I didn't.
Don't waste your time.
1923, never watched.
So good.
Lioness, never watched.
I know Olivia is obsessed with it. I just feel like when Olivia likes something, I know I'm not gonna like it. We have such different interests in TV shows. Like, Olivia would never watch Off Campus.
Shogun, I never watched. You should watch it
with
Ben. Um, Christmas in Paradise.
What's that?
I don't know, but I never watched it.
Wait, speaking of movies that are bad—
Wait, something else that can come off the Family Stone.
She did watch it. Speaking of movies that are bad, are we talking about JLo today?
No, not on a Monday.
Okay, but like, you guys know I'm obsessed with the rumors that her and Brett Goldstein are dating. Just wait till Tuesday or Wednesday. Let's talk about the fact that they were spotted out. Like, of course they were at the same party. They arrived separately, but like were in there together. They're obviously dating, and they have been dating this whole time. JLo Goldstein, I'm obsessed. She's gonna be a Jewish bride, I'm telling you. JGlo. Wasn't that the name of her skincare brand? More
by JLo.
JGlo. Oh my God, you don't understand how much this pairing means to me. If you haven't seen Office Romance on Netflix, it's the best worst movie you've actually ever seen in your whole life. Add that to your— you would love that. It's like Hallmark.
I don't know if I even like that stuff anymore. I don't know who I am.
Jackie, yes you do. I'm telling you, watch Office Romance to reignite—
To change.
To reignite your love of bad movies. Office Romance is gonna be the thing to do it.
You think so?
It was, I told you guys, I couldn't get over it when I watched it. It was like a piece of shit movie on Netflix that J.Lo did.
I saw a movie on Instagram.
Which one?
It seems to be starring Margaret Qualley, Patrick Schwarzenegger.
It just came out this week, everyone's talking about it.
Love of My Life?
Love of the Life or something.
Right, right, right.
I think it's really sad. I think—
I don't know any, I saw one scene, he was making a toast. So
based on my— based on context clues, I'm pretty sure it's like—
Maybe I'll watch it.
No, you won't. It's really sad. It's about COVID It's— I think it's sort of like— yeah, it's like Amanda Kloots. Like, she loses her husband, like the love of her life, like in this terrible battle with COVID when like things were really bad. I think it's really sad. I don't think you'll want to watch it.
And then does she get with Patrick?
I don't know. I think— is Patrick not the husband who dies?
No, he's her best friend who made this like glowing toast about them, and he's clearly in love with her. And she's like—
Oh, happy ending!
She's with another guy who's also in love, who also seems to be like the greatest. Name's Charlie.
Yeah, I don't think you should watch it. Like, I don't think—
Her name's Maya, I think.
She's an amazing actress and everything she does really is top tier, but I'm always skipping that one.
Okay,
well, I'm sort of protecting my peace. Like,
it looks good.
Yeah, no, I'm happy for Margot.
And Patrick Schwarzenegger looked like a real actor, and
he was there last night too. BSFS.
Because
his wife is a big model, Abby Champion. She was there.
Yeah, it's just there's so many big names flying around, like, from the BS fashion show that It's hard to sort of break through, but we'll go through—
Unless you're Kylie.
We'll go through— well, the biggest name. But like, all the girls were there, like, from back in the day.
Yes, it was OG, New G, all Gs.
So to say, I didn't see a lot of New G because like, I was so inundated with the OG.
And I'm not like really watching the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Back in the day, like, we were discovering new talent, like Karlie Kloss.
And where could you even watch this show?
You know what's so funny? I made a small attempt at like 7:55 to put it on. I didn't know Kylie was gonna be there, obviously. I went to Prime. I just figured it would be streaming on Prime. I don't know why. I went to YouTube TV to like see if it was on cable.
Was it on cable?
No, I think it was on YouTube.
Like just streaming on YouTube like, like the Toast would?
Well, I think they have like an exclusive thing with YouTube because they also— I learned this morning, and it's sad because it sounds like everything they're doing sounds really good, but like it's not making a ton of impact— is they also had like an America's Next Top Model type of series that was like a YouTube original series. Good idea. Where they like went to malls, where they went to malls around the world and like were trying to Like OG, like how you used to get discovered in a mall. Um, and then the winner of the show, I don't think they announced it. I think they had the top 2 and then you were supposed to tune into the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show to find out. So I believe this was like a big partnership with YouTube and no shade to YouTube. It just seems like a little accessible. Like I was just, I couldn't find it.
Yeah. Those are good ideas.
I know.
But poorly executed cuz none of us saw them and it would be something that we would watch and we don't really go to YouTube for reality TV is the problem.
Or like live events like these days. That's why I just assumed like the NFL is on Prime. I just assumed they'd be streaming it on Prime. Mm-hmm. And I couldn't find it.
I'm sorry to hear that.
Or NBC Peacock, you know.
Well, let's get into the story since we wanna talk about the stories. Yep. Being the S fashion show. Um, without further ado, it is time for the fast 5 stories that you do need to know.

reef.com/toast. Today's episode is also brought to you by Salt and Stone. So Jackie and I are always talking about like having a signature scent, an extremely like cool elevated thing to do. And that starts like with more than just a fragrance, right? We're doing deodorants, we're doing body washes. The discovery sets from, um, Salt and Stone are super viral. Their deodorant is very viral because it's made with great ingredients. It's aluminum-free and the scents are insane. So it comes in 4 scents. Santal and vetiver, bergamot and hinoki, Saffron and Cedar, and then Neroli and Basil. The deodorant, which you've probably seen a lot of people talking about, it's award-winning, it's aluminum-free, it's formulated for 48 hours protection. They actually sell one every 5 seconds. And then the discovery sets allow you to try all 4 scents, find your signature scent, and then you can go deep. Like, they have body washes— their body wash is amazing— they have fragrances. Um, or if you just want to like keep a multitude of different scents on, you can just do the discovery sets and, you know, do Neroli for a for a romantic evening or bergamot for a walk in the park with your sister, which I personally love to do.
Everything Salt& Stone makes is a careful blend of antioxidant and nutrient-rich ingredients, which of course we love. Try Salt& Stone's discovery set to find your signature scent. If you're also pregnant and looking for an aluminum-free deodorant, you don't have to sacrifice quality, scent. Salt& Stone is the best. Go to saltandstone.com/toast. Thank you, First Hoarder.
You're welcome, Teresa Giudice's daughter.
Monopoly at McDonald's is back! Woo! Aha! You can't win if you don't play. Get your bag.
You
know
what's my favorite movie? My Date with the President's Daughter.
Oh, really? I thought it was Not Without My Daughter.
Oh, it actually is. Sorry. Thanks for reminding me. Our first
story, Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2026 was last night. Last night, the models were out. So as discussed, the OG BS Angels were there. Alessandra Bahama.
Adriana.
Rosie was there. I thought that was surprising. Huntington-Whiteley? Yeah.
Oh, she don't leave the house.
She's like such a businesswoman mama now.
Oh, I didn't even see that she was there. There was like a lot of people.
There was a lot of people. So I'm going through it now and I, I hadn't even—
Jasmine Tookes.
I hadn't even known that some of these people were there. Trinity Rodman, like walking the paint. I saw Trinity Rodman. Natalia Bryant.
Did you see— love that. Did you see all the TikTok drama with Romi Strid? Do you remember her?
I do. And, and of course, no, I didn't see the drama.
She like auditioned for the show and didn't make it.
Oh, this year? But she's been in it in the past.
Yeah, she, I would say she's like one of the girls. She's not like a, a top tier, but when you think of the girls, like, sure, she's a good girl.
Like if she was walking, I would've just named her Romi
Strid. So she was like just documenting the journey of like being disappointed and like people were really rallying around her and like being mad at Victoria's Secret. And they were like, you should get her, cuz her video like made like a big impact. And they were like, well, you should, you know, this is a great way to like end the saga. I guess they didn't. include her. I thought that maybe she was gonna be there.
It's shocking to me that someone like could have auditioned and not gotten it, considering there was 1,000 people there. And also like, what makes her unqualified? Like, I
don't know. Like, I
think she obviously has like the pizzazz because they've hired her before. Were they really just at capacity at 1,000?
Now I wanna say, while I feel like the lead up to this show was bad, like there wasn't hype. I didn't see interviews. I saw like some girls getting their hair blown out earlier in the day. And honestly, shout out to like Megan Maroney because that's how I knew the first secret.
Shout out to the influencers. Of course. Of course. Marie.
Yeah. Danielle Carolan.
Danielle Carolan. Xandra.
So like, where was the marketing budget? Maybe they literally blew all their budget on talent fees.
On Kylie Jenner.
Because I felt like that was a failure. And it's a shame because everything I've seen, like, I'm loving. And it looked like OG, cuz you remember when they brought it back and they did it in like some underground dungeon in Brooklyn? Like, it was very industrial and dark. And it's like, that's not what we're looking for. It took them so long to finally just figure out We want original recipe. And last night it was so original recipe. It literally visually looked like one of the ones they had done. Mm-hmm. You know, when we were in high school, the big stage elevated, the risers, the costumes were
beautiful. I feel like whichever one I watched last when they were trying something new, like the clothes were shit, trying
to be like edgy.
And also trying to be like the other brands that are now doing like bathing suit swimsuit shows, which have carved out a niche for themselves. And like, don't just go and copy them cuz it feels really off coming from you. Mm-hmm. Um, so I think they still wanted to be like current and obviously it's not gonna be like 2006. and only skinny people. Yeah. Um, and I think they, they, from what I've seen, like it was a nice mix of—
1,000%.
Also, they're very strangely mama-friendly. There were 2 6-week postpartum women walking, Elsa and Barbara Palvin.
We're so back. Like 6-week postpartum women looking like a twig. Like we are so fucking back. I was living for it, honestly.
But it's like, it's nice to know that whatever they looked like, they would've been able to walk, you know?
Of course. Of course. No, it wasn't like, I don't think they were auditioning. Imagine. Imagine like, you can come, you can't. I loved it. Like I look forward toxicity in my— and of course they had, you know, Ashley Graham, 'cause they sort of like, you know, were canceled for not, even though I do feel like times have really changed that like, had they not, I don't think there would've been a ton of backlash. Like this is the age of Ozempic, but you know, they're just doing inclusivity. That's great. But I always find like when you are inclusive, you more often than not like get it, like loses its glamor. I've always said like there's nothing wrong with inclusivity, but why does it have to be so real? Like it's just still supposed to be glamorous and airbrushed. And I felt like they did that. Like there is a way. Yeah. And that's what Sports Illustrated does really well. It's like, yeah, they're super inclusive. You don't even notice because everyone's just gorgeous.
Yeah, you're not like counting, oh, skinny, he's not.
Exactly.
Everyone's just gorgeous. You're just enjoying something beautiful.
And they did it. They did it. And I think like, that's the headline. They did it. I thought it was fabulous. Like, I really, it looked and felt just like the ones when I was in high school. Very nostalgic. There was a lot going on.
A lot of performers that I think were the right performers for the job too, right?
I live for a performer who could also be a model. Taylor Swift, Rihanna, like love that.
Pink Floyd, Megan Thee Stallion. Megan Maroney cat's eye.
You see Megan Maroney knocking bitches out with her wings. She was the only performer who wore a wing, and I do feel like it's really hard to wear a wing. They would always talk about it, like when we would watch it once in high school, being like, it's so heavy. And we're like, girl, you're fine. Um, I don't know if you saw like Jasmine Tookes fighting for her life on her way back wearing those big-ass, actually ugly wings. Um, and so I feel like Megan Maroney shouldn't have worn them because like performing is hard enough, let alone like knocking bitches out with your big fluffy wings.
Or just stand there, because I'm looking at a picture of her standing at the mic and like, that looks beautiful.
I loved it. Like the talent booker, A+. The glam, A+. The hair, A+.
That was another critique of whenever I watched last, that we didn't have the bombshell hair.
No bombshell blowouts. Everything was as it should have been, like a time capsule with a little bit of a 2026 sprinkle on it. And there were whispers, like I was following on Twitter. I guess I didn't realize, again, they did such a bad job of being like, who will the mystery— I didn't know we were supposed to be waiting for the mystery bombshell in the fantasy doll.
And then I saw the video and it's like this silhouette and I obviously knew it was Kylie 'cause I already saw that it was Kylie, but I was like, I wonder what I'd be thinking if I had So
my only note for Victoria's Secret is like, where's the hype? I didn't know we were supposed to be waiting for like a mystery. That's exciting. That gets people intrigued.
We're like very in tune with what's going on, you know? I'm surprised there wasn't an ad on the toast.
Yeah, like it was just— and then so people were like freaking out that Stass was there. And so Stass was responding to comments like, no, I'm just like vlogging, because people thought maybe like it would— it was an indicator that it was Kylie. And then in the middle of the show, Kris and Timothée, they were not seated the whole time. They just got brought into the front row.
For Kylie.
For Kylie. And so if you were following the whole thing on Twitter, like, it was all very exciting, but people weren't— I didn't know there was something to be following. Like, where was the marketing strategy? That's my only note. I loved it. Like, I really thought that they were beyond repair with, like, their reputation, the Epstein files, like, literally everything. And then, and then they did bring back the show and they literally made it worse than ever. I thought that they were beyond repair. This was fabulous. Like truly fabulous. A+. I loved it. And Kylie is always a good choice.
They're also like employing a lot of women of a certain age that might be otherwise out of modeling. Like,
I would love to know the average age of a model.
I know. I think Adriana Lima, it was her 21st show. Like a lot of these OGs are in their 40s. Mm-hmm. I mean, of course they're supernatural and they look better than—
of course, but it's still inclusivity.
It's not about that. It is inclusivity. And just because like you're no longer modeling and you went and had your kids, like doesn't mean that you can't be a part of the show. So I think in their own way, yes, it's a different kind of inclusivity. and I really appreciate it. And it's, it's, you know, a, a diverse group of women in a lot of ways.
Agreed. Really good job. Good job. I never thought I'd say that. Good job.
Yeah.
It was fab.
Yeah, I want to see more clips.
And we're both wearing pink today because we're obviously inspired
by the ESPYs. Put more clips on Reels, people, okay? Danielle Caroline can't do everything for you.
No, I— and shout out to whoever is running the social for Page Six, like, doing the most. But, um, yeah, that's the only area where I felt like it lacked was like marketing and, and just like an overall strategy with like letting people know that this was going on.
Do you know who's so gorgeous? Like, all these people are so gorgeous, but do you know who's like supremely gorgeous? Vittoria Ceretti, Leo's girlfriend.
Yeah.
Like, she's so gorgeous.
You know who was there, not on the runway but in the stands? My twin, Inez de Ramon.
Oh, cute.
They also did a good job of inviting people. Like, they were very inclusive of influencers, which I think Oh, people say
we look alike. You look alike.
Oh yeah, you don't know that? Oh yeah, people say we like are twins, like they can't even tell us apart. You don't know that? That's my twin.
No, no, no, but I see it.
No, obviously, like, I'm pregnant right now and like big as fuck.
I thought you were going to say Victoria Fuller.
Well, she's also my twin, but she— I don't think she was there. Um, no, like, go look at pictures from when I was on Ozempic. Like, it's giving Ina Zeramon. I'm crying. Um, which just makes me excited that like Brad Pitt like obviously like thinks some people—
Obviously loves you.
Um, I can't believe you didn't know that Um, so I thought they did a really good job of inviting like fabulous people as well. Like the Love Island girls were there. Like they really covered all the— while still being A-list. Nicole Kidman in the front row.
And then did you see the videos of her when they played the song?
I feel like Nicole, that must be so exciting for her, cuz like she is kind of random.
Random.
It's not like— I feel like Giselle, like it's not like an obvious choice for a lyric, but she's a queen and deserving of the honor, and she's probably like So confused.
Yeah.
But honored nonetheless.
That song is really grating on me.
In a bad way? In a bad way. Okay.
It's really annoying me. And like, all— every time I open up, every single night, every time, every time.
The song isn't bothering me, the trend is. I don't know if you saw like Pedro Pascal at the Chanel fashion show. I was like, you know what, I've seen enough.
What's the trend?
You just like make TikToks to it. They were like passing the phone. It was Dua Lipa, like, and it was just Yeah, you basically, it's like a line of people, like an assembly line. And I guess it's supposed to be like, I saw the Umanskys did it, that was cute. But like, you keep passing the phone and it's like a more interesting person comes up. That's cute, I don't know. So it was like Pedro Pascal, Dua Lipa, and then they ended it with Nicole Kidman. And I was just like, once Pedro Pascal got involved, I said, I don't like the song anymore.
I just, the size, maybe it's just overkill. Like, I never even had a chance to like it because every time, every single, every single, every, and I don't, I don't get it.
I think that's how people feel about Choosing Texas.
Is it all over Reels and TikTok?
It's, it's actually more all over the world. But— Well,
you'd rather hear the whole song all I Hear Is Every Single Night. Like, yeah. I, what does the rest of the song sound like?
I'm not sure.
I'd rather hear it in the supermarket than just like this clip and everyone just like—
And you know, her reign ended, Ella Langley Taylor.
Yes, I did know. All good things must come to an end. That's actually a great segue into our next story, which is Lorde. The Academy Music Gala 2026 red carpet. Taylor Swift attended and performed The Fate of Ophelia. This was major news in Hollywood because Taylor was there, Kim was there,
and she was just like also at an event that I feel she wouldn't normally go to.
She's never been to. It also feels like a relatively new event.
Yeah, it is. And she also just operates in her own universe. Like, she doesn't go to the Met Gala, she doesn't go to stuff that aren't like music award shows. So her being in sort of like someone else's domain. It's always like freaky. It's kind of seen like, you know, a teacher outside of school.
And she didn't sing I Knew It, I Knew You, so this isn't part of her—
I think she did. She did like a medley of songs.
Oh, she did? Yeah. I only saw Ophelia.
She did Ophelia, she did Blank Space, and she did I Knew It, I Knew You.
Oh, she did I Knew It, I Knew You. So this is part of her Oscars campaign.
She's definitely campaigning. I mean, we're also on a campaign for a Golden Globe. Like, we get it. You do things you, you know,
you
wouldn't otherwise do.
We will shout this thing anywhere.
Okay. Honey, don't we gonna have a good time? Thousand hands up to the sky. We gonna get toasted tonight. Now we need to start with Taylor's look. It was so magnificent. Mm-hmm. And I think that, of course, we judge Taylor Swift's style on a curve because the bar is in hell. She's worked with the same stylist literally since she's 12, which I think is one of her best qualities, like her loyalty to people. But like sometimes I think that she gets in her own way cuz the stylist is obviously not good. He's never been good. Every now and then he does something decent, but even when it's decent, if it was on someone else, we would say it's mid, you know?
I judge her on a curve because like, I don't expect a lot because of these said silent issues. But then it's also like she's tall, £1, blonde, skinny, beautiful, and a billionaire. And so I have a high bar of expectation.
A thousand percent.
And so it's like the bar's low, yet we don't meet it.
Correct. Now, having said that, there has been a, a visible shift, I wanna say since like the Toy Story premiere where things have just been different and—
Well, it might be a new era that we're signaling.
Correct. But But it does, and it's not a new stylist, but it feels like a new stylist because it's just good. Like, it's very feminine, it's very flattering. And sometimes, like, with where the VMAs, she wore that black and silver dress and I was like, it's good, but like, do I think it's good because the bar is so low or is it good? And I feel like what she wore to the LACMA Academy, whatever we're calling this, was so objectively beautiful. Mm-hmm. Like, it wasn't just like good because we think she always like looks Not great. It was the most beautiful dress. The beautiful— the hair, the necklace, the glam. No red lip. It was ethereal. Like, it was sickening. It was gorgeous.
It was. It also felt like— and I don't expect this from her whatsoever, so it's another point— like, it felt like something new, almost like something I hadn't seen before, which I expect other people to do, and especially like the models who are just there to like be hangers and show off fashion. But it felt like a new silhouette. But from her in general, I just felt like I hadn't seen this before. It felt so fresh but also timeless.
So fresh. No red lip, which is like— I actually like the red lip. I think people clown on her for like not changing it up.
But you can't wear a red lip with this dress or you look like the top of the stairs.
No, you look like Miss America. Oh yeah, right, that too. Um, so gorgeous. Jonathan Anderson. Shout out to the stylist who I think takes a lot of shit on social media, like for just never really— Who is it? Ralph Castellone, I think that's his name. He's not great, he's really not. I don't know that he styles other people, you know, like I don't think he's like a successful stylist outside of—
Once you're styling Taylor, like God pays the bills.
Well yeah, you would think that, but I think like Law Luxury, like he does obviously Zendaya, now he's doing Kim, he does Ariana, he does like everyone. Yeah, it was really surprising. She did change into Ralph Lauren for the performance, which was like cute and pretty and no problem. It wasn't like a show-stopping, but it was a very nice dress. Let's talk about the people there.
Yes, well, so we gotta talk about the other one in the room. Kim Kardashian was there.
Who also was wearing kind of a new look.
Yeah, I would say.
She looked like Elizabeth Taylor. I think that was like the point, right?
I guess so. Um, what did you— did you like it?
Um, I like that it was different. Like, I'm so used to seeing her in a dress made of spandex that is like from American Apparel. She doesn't wow me really ever, and she doesn't even make me look these days. I looked. Obviously, like, the hair was a little weird, like, but it was, it was different, and it was like she was trying. I kind of liked it. I did. Is that— was it Law?
It definitely has to be. So they just started working together, so I appreciate that they're going in a new direction.
Correct. Because
I'm tired of this.
Correct.
But, um, I didn't love it, honestly.
It was, it was different.
But she's always taking chances, you know. She's not doing— like, she's doing it so that in 10 years we'll be like, oh yeah, that was beautiful, but not for today. But I don't know, I just— I don't dislike the dress. I just don't think it works for her and whatever like new vibe she's channeling, which is just like more matronly and feminine. It just doesn't like translate well on her. Like, it would look— well, I don't need to compare. Compare.
Yeah, let me say this, and I know I'm gonna sound like a grandma, but like, why does everything have to be so tight? Like, I know her body like is her thing, and of course, like, if I had a body like that, I would dress like that all the time. But every now and then, like, wouldn't it be nice to see her in like something flowy? Like, I feel like she's never publicly worn something that wasn't bodycon, and it's like the Bodycon is giving like 16-year-old in Miami.
Like, no. And then when you wanna do this like sweet, feminine, mature, like almost like conservative woman look, but you have to do the bodycon version. Exactly.
It doesn't work for me. Exactly.
I'm glad that we figured that out. That's what doesn't work.
Why always so tight? Like, and she's always talking about how uncomfortable she is and it's like, imagine just—
And, and it's not a successful event if she could breathe.
Yeah.
And if she could walk without help.
And I'm sure you saw like people were freaking out over the zipper placement.
No.
So it's an archival dress, which means like you just make your body fit into it. And most zippers on dresses are either straight down the back or like on the side, like by your armpit. And the zipper, which was supposed to be on her armpit, was like kind of on her backside. The dress didn't like really 100% fit. And it's like, girl, so don't wear it. Like wear a beautiful flowy dress.
There's so many dresses that you could find.
I know, I just feel like I'm really over the tight dresses. And maybe that's just because like I'm jealous and fat, but like Like, every now and then, don't you just want to breathe a little?
Yeah. And I just think for like the look that you are going for, tight actually doesn't really work. Like, this level of tight doesn't work here.
This did feel like a very mini Met Gala. It was super A-list, very upper echelon. There was a performance that we only got like 3 blurry videos of.
Classic.
Um, yeah. And it did remind me a lot of the Met Gala in the sense that, um, when Taylor performed, like, I shout out to like whoever released that one video, you know, where they were just like kind of filming the room. They knew what they were doing. I learned a lot. First of all, did you see Jessica Alba?
No.
Just sort of like in awe, like having the best time. Like, she's a queen. It was obviously like awkward in the beginning 'cause it's not like a concert with fans. These are people like who aren't fans of anyone. And I think a lot of them probably like have beef with Taylor or like are jealous of Taylor. Like, there's just weirdness. Nobody was standing up except for the guy from Heated Rivalry and what was he, Rose, Rosé? What's she from? Pink Eye?
Blackpink.
Blackpink. I was singing Cat's Eye. Blackpink. Um, they were like the only two people—
Pink Eye, is that what you said?
They were like the only two people dancing at first, and honestly, it really like endeared me to both of them because it was seriously awkward. And then I saw a video of Taylor being like, you guys can get up and dance.
Like, oh my God, so Miley.
Yeah, it was just like so—
like, you don't know this song?
Literally though, like Blank Space. Uh, eventually everybody did get up, and shout out to the person who also filmed, um, Sarah Pidgeon enjoying Blank Space. She knew the words, who's dating, you know, famously dating Joe Alwyn, Taylor's ex. It was just like a lot of ops in the room.
Yeah, so let's go through who was there because obviously we had Kim, we had Sabrina, friend of Taylor.
Ally.
One-time Skims spokesperson.
Oh, I wonder if she said hello to Kim.
Yeah, Charlize Theron, Demi Moore. And I'm looking at all these dresses and I'm like, what if Kim wore this?
Yeah, no, I'm—
of course. Like, what if she wore what Demi wore? It would just—
Okay, I don't like that, but—
Be different. And like, this she always wears naked. That's what Charlize was wearing. Kendall Jenner was there in polka dots. Jacob Elordi was there. They didn't walk together, but then they reunited at the end of the carpet.
And it reminded me of the Met Gala because like Kendall Jenner showed up at the end in one of the best looks. She looked so good.
Yeah, I mean, she always looks so good.
She does.
Uh, and I don't even like polka dots.
Um, I don't mind them.
I don't—
not for, not for turd self. I would— I personally would not wear them, but I like them.
There's a time and a place, I feel. And I wouldn't say like at a black tie affair, but she looks amazing. Yeah, Hailey Bieber looking amazing in pink.
I wish her hair was up, but yeah, she wore Chanel.
Yeah. Teyana Taylor looks amazing. This is something Kim would look really good in, but I know they're trying to stay away from like being naked.
It's so Kim. That's Schiaparelli, I think. It's gorgeous.
Yes. Yvonne Goria, Kate Hudson, Goldie Hawn and Kurt.
Cara Delevingne was there, who was like—
A friend to all.
Friend to all, yeah. But in the words of Taylor Swift, a friend to all is a friend to none. But she is like an OG Taylor friend. Oh yeah, she's such a friend.
They were taking pictures all night. Yeah.
But she was literally on The Kardashians this week. Like—
Yeah.
Get you a girl who could do both.
The Fanning sisters, friends of Taylor.
I saw the Fanning sisters interacting. I just know Taylor brought up The Nightingale to them. Like, I know Taylor reads, and I know Taylor's like, what's up with The Nightingale? I just have a feeling.
It's on its way.
I know.
Did they say this Thanksgiving, Christmas? When is it coming out?
Oh, we're going if it's this Thanksgiving.
Yeah. Priyanka Chopra, Camila Cabello.
New film. Uh, Taylor.
Taylor. Eiza González. She looks beautiful. I'd love to see Kim in something like that.
I would literally love to see Kim in anything besides what she wore.
Okay,
but besides what she always wears, get this message to Law Roach, like, let the girl breathe. I know she doesn't want to. I feel like she doesn't think that it was a success— successful night if she's not in pain, but it's like, girl, just relax.
Sofia Vergara looks beautiful.
Queen.
Love to see Kim in that.
Sofia Richie was there with Jake Shane
and her husband.
Sure. Jake Shane got to see Taylor perform. I wonder if she said anything to Jake, like I feel like if they interacted, he wouldn't share it just cuz like it does sort of like his own fame gets in his way. Right. He's supposed to be like this very relatable everyman and it's like, well now he's so famous for that, that he's in the same room as Taylor Swift. So I feel like even if they did interact, we would never know.
Well, I feel like he also is like famous for being like a fan. No. And it's like, it's very relatable for people cuz it feels like for them, if I met Taylor Swift, like how I feel, and he is awkward and like he would just share like, oh my God, I was freaking out. Yeah. And people find that Relatable. He's the everyman. Agreed. Um, Kylie and Timothée were not there, which is surprising because he's such a big actor, but I guess because she had her big show the next day. But look who made it— Victoria!
Of course she did. Wait, where— this was in LA? Where was the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show? It was also in LA.
Yeah, yeah, I saw the California girls. Yeah,
yeah,
not the New York girls.
I liked this event mostly because Taylor was there, and like, that made it interesting and fun.
And everyone looks truly beautiful and like not stupid,
and it seems like a tailored invitation list, which I love. Yeah, things are a little too accessible these days, you know what I mean?
Karlie Kloss was there.
Well, she was also at the wedding. Yes, I need to get over it, but I can't.
But she was in the stands for Eras when everybody was in the tent.
You know, when I went to the Eras Tour, you know who wasn't in the tent? Kate Upton. She was like sitting 1 or 2 rows behind me. I do think in the middle of the show she got pulled, but still.
She got pulled. She doesn't have a history of being friends with Taylor, so like, I know, we just bought tickets. kids.
For like her daughter.
Harry Styles was in the stands.
Yeah. Only about this, just so you could take it off.
There's Rosé. Hopefully she'll be Taylor's new best friend, cuz Taylor would like— will remember that.
Yes, like expect to see Connor's story in the next music video. Like, he was being so supportive. I could tell he didn't know the words. It was Ophelia, which is like a newer song, and obviously he's had like a busy year with Heated Rivalry. Um, but it's even more like kind and generous that he got up and danced to a song he didn't know the words to.
Yeah.
Nobody was standing. Like, actually, that video really endeared me to both of them. Like, people just— like, I know that it's like, it's like a weird event to definitely be the performer at, and I feel like Taylor was probably like dreading it, deadass. But these are things you have to do if you wanna win an Oscar. Um, and you could feel the weirdness for real.
I wonder who she'll be up against for that Oscar. Like, is this her Oscar year?
You know, the song is really popular.
What songs do you think will be nominated for Oscar Song of the Year? this year.
The song has transcended like movie. It's on the radio, like—
And it's good.
It's really good. And
Toy Story was huge, like—
Yeah, I think she actually— sorry, Diane Warren, try again next year. I think she'll win.
So he, he, chat, would expect to watch songs from these movies. Wicked for Good, was that this year?
Oh, did they do any originals? I'm sorry, the original music from Wicked was bad.
Wicked nominations came out last year and everybody was snubbed.
That was the first year, the first movie.
No, no, but people weren't snubbed the first year, and then the second year, like, they—
The second movie was bad.
Moana.
Always Moana.
Live action. The Super Mario Galaxy movie. Toy Story 5. Okay.
You know, she has a— I think— I don't think she's going super hard unless she knows she has a very good chance of winning. Like, if you're up against Let It Go, it's not your year. Yeah. I think it's a thin year and it's a good song, so she's pulling out all the stops. She's doing the right thing. And how close is she to EGOT? Obviously she has a Grammy. Does she have an Emmy or a Tony?
No. Are you sure?
But she's young. But she's young, yeah.
Mhm. Probably Emmy next.
Yeah, I think that's also what she was trying to do with Beautiful Ghost.
Oscar?
Dance with your beautiful ghost.
From Cats?
The original song she wrote for Cats the musical.
That's a good song.
It is a good song, mind you. The movie was just bad.
Cami Chan looks beautiful. Would love to see Kim in that.
Eh, that kind of like looks like something Kim would wear because she would like fill it out with her ass like Like, it would be— everything is bodycon when you have her body, which I understand. Mm-hmm. But she needs to raid— you know whose wardrobe she needs to raid? Miss Kris Jenner, our modest queen.
She would never.
Just once, just once. I would love to see it.
Yeah.
I love what Kris also wore, polka dots to the Victoria's Secret fashion show.
Yeah, she wore like leopard. Was she in leopard?
I thought it was polka dot.
I think probably like it was—
look, it's like a Monet.
No, no, the color was like more bodycon white. Beige and black. But I saw her backstage and I think it was leopard.
I love her.
Yeah. Okay, well, are you ready for our next story?
Is it the drama unfolding at the Dancing with the Stars soundstage?
It is. Dancing with the Stars pulls Val Chmerkovskiy after his inappropriate Carrie Ann Inaba slap joke. The well-being of our staff is non-negotiable, they say.
You know what, he really stepped in it because the headline being slap joke, he really should have cleared up immediately that he never meant slap.
He put out another statement.
Yeah, because his own statement first even got him in more trouble, I think. At least with me, I was like, wait, Wait, you did mean that? Mm-hmm.
So BBC Studios said in a statement on Saturday, the well-being of everyone who works on Dancing with the Stars is non-negotiable. Val's social media post was inappropriate and does not reflect the values or standards expected of anyone connected with the show. As a result, he will not participate in next week's show. That's dedication night. Jenna will instead be dancing with Alan Burstyn.
Yes, who was just like available.
He made a follow-up statement. Um, in a moment where my instinct was to defend my wife, I made a poor decision to reference a meme to keep my wife's name out of the conversation without stopping to think through what else that reference could imply. It's literally what we said, which was genuinely never my intention. Carrie-Anne certainly didn't deserve to get caught in the middle of my bad judgment, and I hate that she was. The last thing I want is to become a distraction from an important week or from the incredible work of my partner Jenna. Please send Carrie-Anne, Jenna, and the whole family lots of love during dedication night.
Um, yeah, I think this was handled really poorly, and had it been handled differently, I don't think he would have been suspended. But his first statement sent shockwaves through the nation, myself included, and And it made it worse because it sounded like a confession, like, yes. And now it's the slap joke.
I just want to say, I think we made a mistake because I haven't— I never saw the original post, but what I was reading that day in the news said it was like a meme of the
Will Smith.
Will Smith. But apparently that's not what he posted. Does anybody know what he actually posted?
Wait, he didn't post a picture of Will Smith?
No.
That's what I saw too, because that's what Carrie Ann— no, that's what Carrie Ann also screenshotted.
You see,
what did Val Chmerkovskiy actually post? Oh, that's interesting.
Yeah, because then I think everyone like assigned this—
I need to see the original post.
You probably find it on TikTok.
Great, great call. TikTok has become YouTube for me, like the way I would like search to watch a video of something.
Watch a clip. Yeah.
Val Chmerkovskiy slash joke.
And maybe, like, maybe the people correcting me were wrong, but I just wanted to clarify that.
He said, you almost saw Fresh Prince enter the ballroom, but I don't know what he actually posted. Oh, it was just black screen, white text. You almost saw Fresh Prince enter the ballroom last night.
So everyone's just assuming he's talking about the Oscars because he said that? Fresh Prince was a show that was on for 10 years. What else happens on Fresh Prince?
I think it's safe to say he was referencing the Oscars, but he didn't clarify what part of the Oscars, you know?
A couple of guys, they were up to no good, started making trouble in my neighborhood. I got in one little fight and my mom got scared.
She said, you moving with your auntie and uncle in Bel-Air.
You got in one little fight, okay. But like, I just think that This has really snowballed and people are saying he posted the man slapping the man. He didn't post that. That's worth correcting.
I think also, and she's a, cuz she is like the victim here. She's allowed to post whatever she wanted. But the screenshot that Carrie Ann posted had a picture of Will Smith at the Oscars. So I think a lot of us—
The media did that.
Yeah. Myself included, assumed that, that he also had posted that.
But he didn't.
No, he didn't.
This is a really bad game of telephone. I mean, it is like he still started, what do you mean by Fresh Prince is gonna end your life? What did I mean?
No, he didn't help his own case at any point. That you're gonna move in with your uncle.
because Carrie Ann said that to your wife?
Right. At no point in this saga did he help himself at all. Like, he— no, at no point.
Um, but you really can't even defend yourself these days because once the internet has decided you've done something, like, all you can really do is say sorry. Otherwise, if you make excuses, they'll be like, you're not accountable. But like, what if you didn't even do it?
I just want to say, like, I feel actually really bad for Carrie Ann because she literally did not— like, she had no involvement in this. Like, she just was doing her job as a judge, and she is like this snarky, sort of like bitchy judge. The response that I've seen online is like sort of blaming Carrie Ann for all of this. And it's like, she actually didn't do anything.
Because she surfaced it in the media?
Maybe, but also like, why'd she have to start with Jenna? Like, people just like hate—
No, I have no issue with what she said.
People hate Carrie Ann. Like, they do. And I think—
But they also hate Chmerkov.
They do, they do. They just hate. They do. The Dancing with the Stars fans, I told you—
The Dancing with the Stars fans just hate the show and everybody on it.
They just hate, hate, hate. And we just love, love, love.
'Cause I like Carrie Ann, I like Chmerkov, I like the show.
I actually feel bad for Carrie-Anne, that she's taking a lot of heat when like this is seriously not her plate. Like she really didn't do anything to start this. And like people are just like, they just hate her. And it's like, it's literally only because she's a woman. Like just saying, not to be one of those, but it's
true. Well, I just want you to say, from what I've seen, they hate everyone involved. I haven't even seen Carrie-Anne handle it.
They hate Jenna.
Val. Oh, they hate Jenna. They hate Val.
They
hate Maxim.
Of course they hate Maxim.
Oh, they hate Jenna Johnson. Yeah. Do they hate Jenna Dewan too?
I don't think so. She's seriously just like, I actually feel bad for her. I do think she's pretty much guaranteed not to go home, obviously because she's an amazing dancer and she's not really even up to be cut. But it would be so unfair if like the drama of your pro got you no votes this week.
Like, yeah. So I think on the one hand, like, we all need to go back and like assess how this all snowballed because he didn't even post a picture of it. And he said like, and, but he didn't do himself any favors.
And what he said could be open to interpretation.
He didn't do himself any favors by not clarifying. Clarify him for one second. And now he is, but it's way too late. And now we're already talking about the Oscars when it could have been about the TV show that— and also this season of Dancing with the Stars is so Fresh Prince coded.
Yes, Alfonso!
It could be so many different things.
Yeah, I'm sat for Tuesday's episode. I'm curious if they will address this at all.
I hope that they don't. I hope it's a 1-week suspension and I hope that we can all move on because like, I'm down for consequences of your actions, but like, he doesn't need to lose his whole job over this. I think he made a mistake and then made it worse and worse and worse.
Agreed.
But this seems outsized. I think one week is not a big deal. So if that's what it takes for the show to feel like they did something and for the fans to feel like he's learned, fine.
This is what I meant last week when I say like social media is ruining the show. I need everyone to back away. I think each couple— I know they have it in their budget— like Dancing with the Stars needs to give each couple a social media manager who's responsible for like taking the content, making them film these TikToks, posting it. And like everybody else needs to back away from the phones. Like it's really— it's ruining the show.
I don't think people— people like being involved. They're not saying social— they're not even complaining about it. They're not being like social media—
But this is not fun.
Yeah.
This is like dark now.
Yeah. And it's, it's just like, it's gotten so out of hand. Like, it's not even what it was—
It's a dance show.
Yeah.
We all forget we're dancing on TV.
Well, maybe, like you said, I think dedication will be really positive. I've seen a lot of the other cast members like trying to post positive stuff. Like Tyler Cameron posted something.
So did Harry Shum.
Harry Shum saying something nice about everyone. Like, so Mean Girls. So corny.
It
doesn't even go here.
I know, I could die when I saw Harry Shum's, like, it's so sweet, but like seriously get back to rehearsal. Everyone is spending too much time on their phones and not enough time in their rehearsals.
Yeah, but I think dedication night will be a good reset.
Agreed, it's like—
They'll be able to keep it really positive and sweet and we'll all come away like feeling warm and fuzzy and then everyone just like be normal after that.
Start over.
Try and be normal, okay?
If you can, I know it's hard for some of you.
Are you ready for our 4th story?
If it's our 4th story that's brought to you by Groon's Gummies. If you're looking for one less thing to worry about when everyone around you is sick, look no further. Today's episode is also brought to you by Kepos. What if the secret to good gut health was found in human milk? So here's a fun one. Some of the most interesting gut health research right now isn't coming from yogurt or probiotics. It's actually being discovered in breast milk. And it turns out there are active bioactive nutrients in there, in there that are incredible for building a healthy gut. And research suggests it might just be the answer to a gut, adult gut health too. So enter Kepos. Kepos is a brand that's really committed to gut health. It's a human equivalent version of the colostrum industry. Um, it's backed by the University of Chicago. Kepos is an award-winning daily gut health supplement based on human biology, not a cow's. It can help strengthen your gut health, your immunity, and healthy iron levels with one delicious daily scoop. Because Kepos is structurally the same as human biology, you can actually feel the results quickly. So unlike cow-based colostrum, it doesn't rely on taking away a baby cow's first food from them. That's why over 750 clinicians recommend Kepos to their patients with no compensation. Its ingredients have been backed in over 1,000 clinical trials, and why a university with over 100 Nobel Peace Prizes backed them as well.
It's lactose-friendly for those of us who've always struggled with colostrum side effects. If you're looking for the next generation of colostrum, you can receive a limited time 47% off your first order, plus they are including free gifts valued at $62. Go to trykepos.com/toast. Thank you, TurtFree.
You're welcome. Oh, there's no such thing as a free turd.
Never.
You ever heard that?
I have, and it's true.
1,000%. Oh, I wanted to say something. Obviously, like cardboard, yada yada. I wanted to share— I think I shared a couple of weeks ago that I went to the mall and got sunglasses, and you know, I was being cardboard about it, but they were Celine. They were $600, and I was like, oh my God, that's insane. And I just want to say that this $600 pair of sunglasses has changed my life in such a profound way. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to release the $600. You know, obviously my face is like going through a lot right now. Transformation. Transformation.
Evolution.
I have like multiple faces, multiple chins, and this pair of sunglasses has grounded me in such a profound way. And I just wanted to say Cardboard. Yeah. Whenever Bradley went on a budget, things cardboard did that
Bradley would never—
Bradley would never.
Um, that's beautiful.
Yeah.
Thank you so much for sharing that.
You're welcome.
Our next story is also really beautiful. I actually don't know if I can get through it without crying. Um,
oh my God, tell me it's Kaia Gerber's—
Kaia Gerber's post for her brother. Kaia and her mom both took to social media yesterday to like publicly acknowledge the passing of Presley Cindy Cindy's son, Kaia's brother. Um, Cindy posted something really sweet with a short statement: We are so proud of how he showed up in the world with kindness and vulnerability. We are grateful for the outpouring of love and support from so many people.
Um, and then Kaia released her own statement. I think, um, Cindy's was like the family statement because I think her husband had posted.
Yeah, and she signed it from, we love you forever, Mom, Dad, and Kaia.
And then obviously Kaia released her own sort of carousel statement. Not only was it the most beautiful thing I'd ever read in my whole life, like I was so touched by it. It was so well written, and I think you talked about this like a couple of months ago about Kaia Gerber, how she can't just like date anyone 'cause based on what you know about her, she's like this kind of Renaissance woman. She reads these classic novels and she's like extremely intellectual, and she talks a lot about how much she reads, but like we all do.
No, and also what you like, She, it's easy to clown on her like in a Kendall Jenner, like sort of like— She's not reading off a care bit. Like other girls way.
Yeah.
Um, no, but she is like very well-read, very intellectual. And like, she's been talking about this for years and I feel like people like don't take it seriously. Don't believe her. And we don't know that much about her. She doesn't like
be— Share a lot personally.
Or like do like long speaking sessions or anything. So we just get like bits and bobs of her and we don't really know her. But she put out a very long statement on Instagram, like a carousel slide of like a letter to her brother. And beyond being like so well-written and well-articulated, um—
So beautiful.
So emotional.
And you know what's so funny? I, I think this is really, um, like the statement has gone viral and—
Oh, has it?
I turned to Ben and he's like, literally has tears in his eyes. I'm like, what's wrong? And you know, Ben is like an older brother to a younger sister. He was— he couldn't get over it. Like he was talking about it for the rest of the night. It was so beautiful. And I think like people that didn't know her or know him are just like, or anyone who's experienced grief is like reading this and just like, it's one of the— I, I didn't know we were gonna get one of the most well-written like sonnets of our generation last night. Like it was so beautiful.
It was so beautiful. I, I won't read it. I can't read it cuz I will just cry. But I think anyone who has a sibling, or especially like if you have multiple children, mm-hmm, just like, It's like, it just really, really like hits home.
Yeah, I think it also speaks to like, they were like— she's a really well-raised woman. Like, I think it speaks to her parents. Like, it's— it was— it was— I don't even have words. And she said there are no words. Like,
yeah, it was— But she said it better than— Of course, we all say we sound stupid. Like, there are— we all say there are no words. And the way that she's— maybe I could read just that. Maybe I could get through that part where she said
Um, like, words— I
don't have the words, and maybe the tiny mercy is that we didn't need them all along. Words fail and words subtract and words summarize and words always lack truth. And how naive of me to believe that language could transcend grief.
It was profound. Like, it was really, um— and it's— I don't follow her. It came up on my timeline and it came up on Ben's.
I don't follow her either.
I'm telling you, people are really, uh, um, like taken by this. Like, she should write a book.
She should. I was thinking the same thing. She's obviously a very good writer.
Yeah, and she's just obviously very smart.
And in touch with like her emotions and also in touch with how to like put words to them.
The story— like, the, the story itself of Presley Gerber is so sad.
Yeah.
And I wasn't really expecting to hear from Kaia because like you said, she's not a— she's a public figure who's not that public. Like, she doesn't do podcasts. We really know nothing about her. Like, we know who she's dating just based on like paparazzi photos.
We don't know a lot about her personality. We don't know what she sounds like. Maybe what's in my bag. I
think she's done like Therapist, like that's it, and that's like her friend, you know?
Oh yeah.
Um, I don't think we really know her, and so this is sort of the first glimpse for a lot of people into her personality, and it's not what you would expect from a typical model. We all— yeah, sorry, there are stereotypes about models, like there are. It's just not what we expect. I think just people are really, um, moved by it. It was very moving.
It was. She has been trying to tell us though.
No, I know, but it's like telling us how smart you are is not the same as showing us. And so now like, okay, we believe you, you were actually undersold
You undersold it. And
I'm sorry that this is how we had to find out. I really am. It's just a— it's a terrible story.
It is. So just really, really sad.
Yeah.
Um, are you ready for our 5th and final story, which is some major technology news?
The flying car?
The flying fucking car.
I just want to say it didn't fly.
What do you mean?
Like, if Ben was like, did you see the flying car? And I was actually like, no. Ben never says, did you see I'd see everything. And I actually didn't. And of course Ben saw it on David Dobrik's, 'cause he was like, I guess like they went to a bunch of influential, um, people like 10 years ago and raised the money. So David Dobrik was like, I gave $250,000 like 7 years ago and I've been like waiting for my money. Mm-hmm. So he got invited to the thing. And so I think a lot of—
Give me my money.
Literally. That's how Ben— and so I watched David Dobrik's video. And so Ben was like, he had said, did you see the flying car? Oh, I saw the car that flipped upside down, but—
You didn't see it elevate?
I didn't, okay, so it levitated. That's not the same as flying. Oh. Flying is like you're getting from point A to point B, just exclusively in the air. It went up and down. Like, I'm sorry, it's not a flying car. Not to be like annoying.
Tesla's new Roadster made a flying debut, hitting 60 miles per hour in under 1 second. So Tesla unveiled its long anticipated Roadster on Thursday during a dramatic event in which the vehicle used compressed air thrusters to fly off a ramp.
It's a jetpack.
It's a jetpack. Okay, fine.
It's not flying.
Okay, it's not flying, but whatever it did, I— is cool and I want it.
When I think of flying cars, I think of like a highway in the sky.
Like the Jetsons. Of the Jetsons.
Yeah. This is not that. Now, of course it's amazing, like advancements and we're on our way to the Jetsons.
Yes.
But it's a little misleading.
So per— I mean, I actually think that doing a flip is more impressive than the Jetsons. Yeah.
Like I understand why.
And also like the Jetsons, that's an airplane. So this is inherently different. Like, you know, when I can understand— you wanna make mini airplanes for all of us. I don't wanna get my pilot's license.
I understand the need for flying cars or like the, the lore of it. Mm-hmm. I don't really understand the need for a car that can suction upside down. Do you know what I mean?
I don't need upside down. No. But I do need to levitate.
In what scenario?
I do need to levitate.
You do?
Yes.
Okay.
If I ever just need to like get outta this situation.
Yeah. I guess like some people go to space, Katy Perry, and like we could just like, this is our own version of that. I
just need like a few feet off the ground.
Minutes to myself.
Um, so the vehicle was seen flying, performing a mid-air flip, and accelerating from 0 to 60 in under a second, which is really quick because the Tesla already accelerates so fast.
Within 3 seconds.
When I'm at a red light with other cars, like, I'm out of there way before anyone else.
I've driven behind you. You're kind of a speed demon.
It's the Tesla. Um, Elon said, turns out the future does have flying cars.
It doesn't.
It does.
It's not flying. I'm just saying, not to be— What is it?
You're literally Woody from Toy Story. You're not flying, you're falling. I'm falling with style.
Oh, no, you're not falling with style. You're like jetpacking for a second. Like, it's not the same. Would you say those— have you ever seen those things in the ocean? Like when you're on a yacht, like you put the jetpack on and you like—
Yeah, yeah.
Whatever it's called. That's not flying. Would you say that that's flying?
I wouldn't, but I can't identify why.
I know, because it's not.
Okay, I don't need it to be a flying card, like for the record.
Uh, one thing about me,
this is good enough
for me. I'm sure you guys can like feel it through the podcast. Like I am experiencing pregnancy rage and that really manifests itself on the road. So it's like, actually I could deal with a flying car because I can't sit in these red lights anymore. You know? Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. So yeah, I would like, I would love to fly in a car.
But if you could, if you could jet pack up and then like just go.
But can you?
Like if we can do this, then yes.
But then we have to wait for the laws to change. It's gonna be a 100-year thing.
No, but the, we have self-driving now and the laws haven't changed.
That's true. But like, if I'm at a red light and I could just levitate over the red light—
Uh-huh. Uh-huh. I think if this car can flip—
By the way, sign me up.
If this car can flip, it can levitate you past the red light.
I can't pass the red light. I cannot do it.
I actually found, um, like a really good hack for getting—
Oh, Ben's offer. You make a right and then a U-turn and then another right.
No, no, no, I don't do that at all.
Ben does that all the time. 'Cause in Florida you can make a right on red. You can't do that in New York.
But if you are waiting to make a left turn at an intersection with lights, like you, you will be waiting for 5 minutes. More
like, it's insane. You could literally write a book. No, Ben makes a right cuz you can go right on red and all the streets are two ways. Then he makes a U-turn. Yeah. And then he makes another right. So instead of just going straight and waiting, and he does often beat the light.
Of course. U-turns stress me out, so I'm not gonna take that on. But no, I found a different like little hack for getting here.
Oh, for getting here?
Yeah. Yeah. I'll, I'll tell you about it.
I think I know it.
Oh, I'll tell you about it. Okay. I wonder if you know. Um, so anyways, this car will be going into production in 2028. And yes, this is nearly a decade after the initial concept debut in 2017.
So he's been holding onto these people's money.
I think he's been working on it.
No. And I think if you were, it was like a, a big deal to have, I think if you gave the money, like your investment, I, I think David Dobrik's about to make like $50 million.
Wow. That's, I mean, it is like a trillion dollar company and this, I mean, we haven't had a big advancement in a really long time.
I know we were kind of due for an advancement, don't you find? Yeah.
But I mean, like medically or self-driving is a really big advance and I feel like the only person who's making a big deal is like Jason Oppenheim in car mom. Don't you feel that way?
It's Jason Oppenheimer.
From the Oppenheimer Group.
How do you know what he's up to?
He— I got a video on my feed. He's like, got a Tesla. He can't believe it because he said he's doing self-driving from like his house to the Newport office, which is an hour, and he does it every day. And he said like, I'm a really distracted driver, like I'm always on emails, calls, and like this is going to save lives. He, he's like, everybody needs one.
I'm cracking up. Not him being like 5 years late, like, yeah, we know.
But then also car mom got a Tesla.
Did she?
And she shook over self-driving. She's like, this just took me to Target.
I've been chatting with the car mom. I don't know if I told— did I tell the podcast that I'm getting a new car?
I think you did. Vulva.
Vulva. Oh yeah, of course. Um, yes, I've been chatting with her. She— She
endorse your decision?
She does, except that like— and it's— I can't really consider Ben. She's like, if you have a very tall husband, a lot of these midsize SUVs like don't work, cuz if you need to put your seat all the way back, you start bumping with the car
seat. But if you—
and like, this is my car, how about that? How about Ben can fuck off? How about like, I'm not buying a car for him?
No, and also when Ben is in your car, you will go in his car when
we're all together. You— yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
yeah, yeah. And also like, you just have to make it a couple months in the Volvo until you can turn the car seat around, and then you get more legroom.
And also like, I— like, I understand why people just get minivans. Like, because like, I need a minivan.
You guys say need a minivan.
You guys know I I'm like not willing to sacrifice my cool factor for like my— for being a mom.
I think if you have the confidence and the rizz to pull off a minivan, like you actually are so cool.
And you know, uh, something I didn't even consider, because I saw a girl on TikTok being like, I'm getting a minivan, like I just need one. She was like, because when you pull into really tight, um, parking spots, the automatic doors that slide like make it really easy. The other day we were parked so close to each other, I couldn't— I had to go into my car through the other side Yeah, I need a sliding door.
Well, for your—
Yeah, I know, I know, I know. But Olivia over the summer rented a car in the Hamptons. A Kia Carnival. And she was like, I got a minivan. And she showed up and I was like, where's the minivan? She was like, it's right there. When I tell you I thought it was an Escalade. It was a Kia Carnival.
And it looks like a Sprinter.
It doesn't have the typical— it's the shape of the minivan that's embarrassing. It looks like Hunchback. No, it looked like Olivia's minivan had the shape of an Escalade, like a tricked out Escalade. It was huge inside. I might have to get a Kia Carnival. But I'm saying I haven't resigned to getting a minivan yet. So like Ben, I'm not getting a minivan because Ben doesn't fit in the car.
No, and you don't need a minivan yet. No. But I definitely—
But I understand.
I am minivan curious and I think I can pull it off.
I know that I can't, you know?
But that's, it's all about like projection and confidence.
Yeah. I think I could do it in one of like the new Kia Carnivals. And if I got one,
I would get it like painted like the exact right. I would do like the bodywork to get like the color.
Yeah, we'd get like grills on the tires. No, no, no. What was that joke?
Pimp my car, pimp my ride. Like the Lyriq has that blue.
Oh, you would get a blue? I feel like that would draw more attention.
Or like a very nice cream. I saw, um, I saw a car.
No, no, not cream. You would look like a— you know, they have minivan taxis. You'd look like one of the taxis in New York.
Maybe I am a taxi.
You essentially are.
For my family only.
Yeah, of course.
I'm a private taxi. Not
open for business.
I'm a private taxi. Um, no, I've long said Tesla needs to make a minivan. Mm-hmm. But they are the, so the new Model Y, I think that's what Car Mom got. I have a Model Y. I think she got the new one, which just came out and it's like, that's gonna be my next car. It's a little bit longer. It has 3 rows. Um, and it's like a little bit more, cuz I want my, I love my car. I think I could use it like a little bit bigger, more space. So that's what I'm gonna get next. And then the Roadster, I guess. And then I said I'm gonna get a Roadster.
I will say, I think the good thing about this car, while it's like this freaky thing that can do all these different things, I'm glad it looks like a normal car. Like that Cybertruck, I don't know.
No, it looks like a Cyber Small.
Oh, does it?
Yeah.
Oh, oh, I feel like the design—
Would you call that Cyber Small?
Yeah, I was saying like Cyber Curious. Like, yeah, the design of it—
The, the sedan version of a Cybertruck.
Yeah, it does. Oh, when I was— the video I saw, it just looked like a regular Tesla.
Because you probably couldn't see all like—
Because David Dobrik had like a bad seat.
The fumes were clouding it.
And David Dobrik was like sitting all the way in the back.
Yeah, and if it is that, uh, what is it, aluminum that it's made out of?
Bulletproof.
It's indestructible. Pretty cool.
So flying cars are not here yet. Don't let the internet lie to you. But advancements are being made.
A decade ago they said the base price would be around $200,000. I wonder if that's still true.
What the car is going to cost?
Yeah, like given inflation.
Oh, inflation.
$250 now?
That feels right.
Okay, maybe you could get it for my birthday.
Maybe you could get it for your birthday. Although that is a good reminder that your birthday is like literally in 3 days. Um, do I really need to get you a present, you think?
No.
No, no, I'm kidding. I would not.
You really don't.
But what do you long for, like an experience or a material item?
Um.
I could take you to Disney World.
No, I could take myself, thank you.
I could take you
No, to
the beach. Okay, so not an experience-based gift. Okay, material item, something from the mall.
Always the mall. I have to really think. There's definitely—
I know what Sachi got you.
She got me something?
Yeah, I was with her yesterday when she was like, um, purchasing it.
Was it something that she like got while she was living with me because she thought I would like it? Like, because she's—
Oh, I don't know if like her trip here down here inspired it, but I think you'll be very pleased with it.
She always does good.
Yeah, no, it's, it's really good.
I haven't really thought about it. I've more so been I'm thinking like what I want to do for my birthday.
And I was like,
Max and I share
a birthday, so it's not really about you anymore.
No. So I like, what do we want to do? And especially for his like first birthday.
I think I know what we want to
do.
What? Hibachi. I think that's what we really want to do.
It's the day after mine. We're not the exact same birthday, but we're— But we should celebrate together. Of course.
And I think we should celebrate at hibachi.
At hibachi.
Max would love hibachi.
At home hibachi.
Sure, fine. I'm not like—
That's actually a cute idea.
Yeah, of course. If we can get kosher meat. Like, I love hibachi. Okay. Just something to think about. I'll arrange it if you need—
I need outdoor furniture.
Oh, is that what you want for your birthday?
Can you buy me like a sofa? I'll let you know what collection I'm eyeing.
I mean, like, no, actually I can't, knowing you. Like, sure, unless it's like reasonable from Wayfair.
I don't know, have you seen Business and Pleasure?
No. You've got to. I know you're gonna send me a link from Serena and Lily, so like seriously.
Oh, I should be looking.
So like actually no, I can't. I should be looking. I take it back, I'm not really interested in what you want.
I have a sale. Restoration Hardware is having a sale.
I take it back, I'm not interested in what you want. I'll, I'll tell you what you want for your birthday.
You gotta see this bit, this brand, Business and Pleasure. You're gonna love it for me. It's like so cute.
Those prices!
What is it?
Look at that first one.
$2,800. It's on sale.
Sick. I will not be purchasing that.
I'm cracking up. It doesn't even look comfortable. No, I don't want it.
No. Yeah, I know. Those are the fast 5. You definitely needed to know them. So much to do, so much to say.
Good times.
Good times. Anything else?
No, that's all for me.
