Good morning, girlies. It's The Toast. It's Jax and Claude, and we're your hosts. It's your favorite show that bats by things you need to know. We'll start your day off swirly. It's The Toast. I sound amazing.
Welcome back to The Toast, and happy Wednesday, a beautiful day. After Dancing with the Stars dedication night, I'm just seeing the world through a beautiful lens. We're so blessed. Love is in the air. Kindness wins today.
That's so lovely.
We'll see, until I talk about Julia Stiles.
Love wins, I think.
Absolutely.
And like, motherhood wins.
Love is in the air. Mamas win.
It should be called Mama's Night because—
Agreed.
Everyone dedicated to their mothers, and the couple people that didn't—
It fell flat.
It depends on— unless you're— well, Tyler Cameron did. Who— we have to go through who did it.
Okay, by the way, I have so many thoughts about it.
There's a couple people who didn't. I'm like, well, what about your mom?
You know, not only that, if you didn't do your mom, like, you had to really bring a lot else to the table.
I thought Harry Shum did a really beautiful—
Let's just hold it. Hold on.
Okay, it's the first story. Don't worry. Dedication night. It
is the first story. Obviously last night Jackie and I watched Dancing with the Stars dedication night. It was also the Knicks home opener, which we all watched together. Unfortunately, they did lose, and I feel like Ben was really upset, and it was really messing with my Dancing with the Stars because like The end was Julia Stiles and Tyler Cameron. It was also like the end of the game. So Ben kept making me go back. I missed Julia Stiles. I had to watch it this morning. Um, he was just being like a real clicker Nazi, but like, I guess he never gets control of the clicker and like this was important to him. So I was like watching the Knick game in between and then they lost. I'm like, I didn't miss Julia Stiles for this. Like, yeah, to lose. But I feel that it's for the best. I think, you know, you don't want things to come too easy to you.
It's true. It's an unimportant game though. It like felt it was important. It's
just a first
night, their banner hanging.
Yeah. Everyone got their rings. Like so cute. All the family. It was literally family night. And you should have went to sleep when the kids went to sleep.
'Cause as far as they know, the Knicks won.
First quarter, they won.
The Knicks won.
It's true, it was a much better ending than the one we ended up with.
He should've gone to bed at 7:30.
1,000%. Um, I wanted to say one thing about, um, the Knicks. What was it? Well, you know LeBron was there.
Mm-hmm, I didn't see him.
And I don't know, it's like, you know that Mandela effect? Has LeBron always been bald? Or that's like a new development?
You're fixated on baldness.
I am fixated on male pattern baldness. I'm so glad you brought that up. Because you know it's like the one area where men age. And it's like we're over here like doing a dance with our creams and our neck lifts and are, you know, Juvederm, and they're over here balding. They can't even like stop the balding, you know? It's like, take Rogaine. They're all so proud. Yeah, I live for men who bald, although I think LeBron's was by choice, which is different. Being bald and balding are 2 completely different things. A lot of people are bald by choice. Daughtry for sure. Chris Maloney for sure. LeBron, I think so.
I don't know. I like— I don't care about baldness.
Oh my God, I'm obsessed with it. Speaking of, did you see Prince Harry's sit-down interview? I did. Also obsessed.
Kamala Harris of our time. Why?
Why? Because he just like says stuff.
In the past, it was the past. And we're hoping that in the context
of all in which you
live in, we're hoping that the present will not be the past.
And it's like, I think a lot of families relate to that. He kept saying that. Like, I
actually didn't pick it as a story, but I can.
No, he didn't say anything, obviously. Honestly, balls of steel on the person who interviewed him.
Just, no, like, the person who interviewed him asked a good question but not a perfect question, 'cause he more so asked like, the reasons that you left, are those no longer a concern to you? Sure. Why did you leave the US?
Yeah, why'd you come back?
Why did you leave this time?
No, it was not a conclusive interview. It was so much word salad. I just can't believe like that he's talking to the press. Like he's like the— like he hates the press, right?
In the interview with the press, he's talking about how the press is so bad to him.
Yeah.
And how he's hoping that will be in the past, and that the past is past, and that—
And you just fell out of a coconut tree.
And that the present is the future, and that the future won't be the past.
You exist. You know, I was actually recently talking about that quote. It came up when me and Ben were in the car, and I was like— we were talking about it like extensively, and I just want to say like I understood what she meant, and I actually like her point. Like, you didn't just fall out of a coconut tree. Like, you are here not by chance, not by— like, you exist in the context of all in which you live, what came before you. Like, those— your ancestors, you're like— it's just, it actually sounds dumb, and it is, but it's also quite beautiful.
No, of course. Um, what that has to do with politics
and what she was asked about, I
don't know what—
I don't know what the question was.
It would be a good quote for, you know, Three Identical Strangers, like your
yearbook,
the documentary. Yeah, because it's also about like where you've come from. It's not just Present day.
Back to the Knicks game, noticeably absent Timothy and Kylie. I felt like that was kind of— because all the classics were there. Tracy Morgan, Ben Stiller with his stupid iPhone. I just want to say, like, I think like the Ben Stiller shtick of like him like following the Knicks around with his backpack and his iPhone like filming horizontally for his documentary—
Like, bro, it's on HD.
I just don't think it's funny. Like, I, I don't think he's like cute or whatever. I'm like so over it.
And he's not watching the game. Like, not to be a boomer, but put your phone down.
Not only that, like, you have access that people would seriously dream of and you're watching all of it through your phone. Um, they were all in attendance except for Kylie and Timothée. I wonder why.
It's been a busy week for them.
Of course, when you have a plane, like, you're really not that busy.
Of course, the brassiere. But they just— yeah, and I guess like they did a big Kylie thing, they should be doing a big Timothée thing next. Who knows?
Maybe they just want a low-key night at home.
Yeah, there will be other games, but I mean, for him to not see the banner being hung is strange.
And the ring ceremony, which was really cute, they had all these like Knicks legends giving it to like the younger players. Yeah.
We know he's like, okay, we saw him 2 days ago.
And what if you just got traded to the Knicks and your first game, like, you obviously don't get a ring, right? No. Where are you for the ceremony? I was thinking about, they have a new player, Andre Drummond. Where was he? 'Cause he—
Probably just watching his new friends.
Not inside the locker room? You think he was out on the floor?
Yeah, why not? It's a cool night.
Of course. No, I just imagine that's like quite a lonely feeling. And then what if Andre Drummond replaced my boyfriend, Mitchell Ten— not Tenpenny, Mitchell Robinson?
Why didn't—
like, you don't get to go? Like,
I guess you don't get to go, but like they'll mail him his ring.
Of course you're gonna get the ring, but like the ceremony, That's sad.
I don't know.
That's
sad. Yeah. Well, I mean, that's just sport. Like, it's not sad, you know what? Because I can think of things that are sad.
No, of course. Like, you know, making hundreds of millions of dollars and getting your ring in the mail, like, isn't sad. Of course.
Like Tyler Cameron's mother not being able to see his dedication night dance or meet his fiancée or his new baby. Like, that's really sad.
We have so much to talk about. I'm down to, like, cut the PFFB unless there's anything you want to chitchat about.
No. And, like, I'll feel free If something comes to me that I wanted to share, like about myself.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
That I'll feel just free to tell them.
Of course. As you always should.
Like, like how I added cinnamon to my coffee this morning.
Huge. She's so crazy. Like huge news over here. Jaggy changed her coffee recipe. She added cinnamon.
'Cause I always make an espresso, right?
Of course.
My favorite is sweet vanilla. Mm-hmm. But I've run out of those pods, so I have to use Odozio. Boring old Odozio.
Alexandra Odozio Cortez.
Exactly. So today I was like, what if I added some cinnamon to my Odozio? Which I did.
And I feel it's given you a little bit of a—
I added too much. No, I think that this is the donuts that are here.
Oh, I had a donut for breakfast. Somebody got us donuts at the studio.
There's donuts in the studio. It's like the best and worst way to start your day. It's only gonna go like this from here.
So I—
we're on a sugar high right now.
Obviously. Yeah, I obviously ate one almost to completion. I left a corner of it for Jackie, but I happen to have not had breakfast this morning. I took a preemptive Tum. I do feel like I might have gestational diabetes. I was actually chatting with a friend who does have it. And not that I was jealous of her or anything, but she was like 39 weeks pregnant and she was like, you know, ever since I found out, I've only gained £1. That obviously is attractive to me, but she's like, but it's hell. And anytime— You couldn't— I know. She was like, anytime I'll cheat, like just be like fucking like have a slice of pizza, I feel so horrible and I have to like go for like a 20-minute walk. And some of the things she was describing, like kind of like I do feel that, like anytime I eat, like I feel like garbage when I don't eat. So I'm thinking maybe I have gestational diabetes. So I'm just going like extra hard right now just in case these are my last couple of meals.
No, it's really true of pregnancy, like whether or not you have GD, like if you eat like crap, you will feel like crap. Like,
but unfortunately, like, you need to eat like crap to survive.
I know. I could think if you had GD, like, you would have to get a chef. Like an act— like a— I know Ben is a chef, but like, he also has a job. Like,
I want to say I don't want GD, like, at all, but I do think like the content, like, just here on the podcast, and like maybe my chef could like make videos with me— I do think that the concept of it like seems exciting. And then of course, like, being done gaining weight.
Yes.
I just honestly, I don't think I would need a chef. I think I would need like an institution. I would need to be straitjacketed up with my meals like fed through a feeding tube.
You should go to Pritikin.
Yeah, I have no self-control. No self-control. Like Canyon Ranch.
No, no, you need a chef, I think. Like that's to make like pizza for you. Yeah. No sugar.
Ben would really need to quit all of his jobs.
I don't think that he could. And I think, I don't think that would be good for your relationship. I think you would need to hire a chef, Cardboard.
Okay, let's say I'm hiring a chef, Cardboard. It's not even a cost thing, 'cause I didn't even bring that up, you did. But let's say, sure, I splurge for a chef. That person's like, in my space all day long? Do they live at your house?
Like, I think they could go home at the end of the night,
but then all day they're in my house. You know I hate people in my house.
Or maybe like the night before they prepare your breakfast so that like then they come around lunch.
Well, meal prep.
No, no, no, but like
it needs to be plated. Meal prep, like coming, I have to like heat it up in a Tupperware. I would never meal prep cuz it's all about presentation for me. Mm-hmm. Meal prep just gives leftovers and you know I don't like leftovers.
I'm so glad that we're like figuring out how you're gonna survive the Phantom— Hypothetical.
Yeah.
Yeah. And you can also reach out to those who came before you, like Dana Holtzberg, like Alex Cooper. Of course. Like our friend
Margo. That's who I was talking about.
Yeah.
Okay.
Ample resources.
Yeah, I'll definitely reach out to Alex Cooper. Hey girl, have any recipes for gestational diabetes?
She definitely got a chef.
1,000%. If I sold my show to SiriusXM for $125 million, I would also have a chef.
And not just 'cause I had GD, like just 'cause I had—
Oh, you think she has a chef like 24/7?
No, I think she— well, I don't know. I really don't know. Like, but—
We don't know her, like, at all.
But like, I think she got a GD chef for sure.
There are, by the way, and I don't know if this is like a job, But if you are a chef looking for a niche, wealthy women who have gestational diabetes, I think it would be a very well-paying job because you would pay a lot just to be satisfied.
Of course. And you could have, you could have pizza if you, they're making their own dough. Sourdough crust. Sourdough, I guess. Should I be your chef? Or like a family pizza.
I would say, I think you do cook like very much like in, cuz you cook for your kids. Yeah. You cook very much in my taste.
It's true. Like it kills me to use sugar in a recipe. I'm always hitting up that Truvia Allulose plus monk fruit sweetener. That's my favorite. So maybe you'll get a chef, maybe you won't.
Maybe I'll fail, maybe I'll pass. The time—
Oh, the test.
The test.
Is that like coming up for you?
I don't know. They brought it up on my last appointment and I didn't really like ask more questions because I'm dreading it. Like that drink, when I drank that drink last time, I was like, you guys are so dramatic. Like, it really tastes good. It tastes like Sprite. 10 minutes later, you will want to die. It's the worst feeling in the world. I've never felt Probably worse in my life.
Doesn't taste good. I've never done it down here. I was trying to recall. I'm like, what's this? Where do I go down? I've never done it in Florida.
No, they do, um, at Dr. Fox they give you like this little straw and like you have to chug it.
And we don't do that, like that newfangled one.
There is like a Crunchy Mama's version and people are like, do you do the blank one? No, I just go OG. Like, I'm very old school like that.
I know. I don't know why I feel like the newfangled one is like—
Every time I hear about someone taking the newfangled one, they do fail.
Yeah, yeah. Anyways, okay, a conversation for another day, you know?
Yeah, I just feel like I had more to tell you, but it's not coming to me.
Okay, well, maybe this—
Oh, just something I'm personally dealing with. I'm pretty sure in my car there's a doody diaper and I can't find it. And every time I like turn, I get like a whiff of it.
Don't be rude.
Don't be fucking rude, bitch. I get this doody diaper whiff And I can't find it. When I got into the car this morning, I really smelled it. And then I found some like bowls. We like, Ben cooked dinner and brought it to your house last night. So there were like some bowls. I'm like, oh, maybe it was like the smelly food.
The bowls are at my house still.
No.
Who picked them up?
They were literally in my backseat. So when I was looking, I'm like, oh, maybe the bowls are smelly. And I called Ben. I'm like, I can't believe you left the bowls in the car. I'm driving and I'm like, this smell is not going away. And it smells like poop. I'm telling you, somebody changed a diaper in the trunk and like it's rolling around. I can't find it.
Oh gosh. I'll— oh, your nose is stronger than mine at the moment.
It's a national nightmare, honestly.
Maybe I'll come help you. I'm good at finding stuff. Yeah, you are.
My car is clean. My Volvo arrives today.
Your Volvo?
Sorry, my Volvo arrives today.
I'm excited to see it.
So am I. I haven't seen it. Ben went to the dealership and got it for me.
I love cars. I'm kind of like a car junkie.
I'm a little worried only because I've like, I've seen the car like once or twice, not in recent memory. And when Ben was like, we need to get another car, I was like, just get— every time I get a car, I think about the Volvo. I'm like, I didn't want to make a decision. I'm like, just do it. I've seen a couple on the road. I'm like, oh, I hope that's not my car. Like, I just don't think it's like so chic.
Oh God, like you're so concerned.
I'm very shallow when it comes to cars, absolutely.
What was my question for you?
That's beautiful, I don't know.
This is gonna be a great one.
What color did I get it in?
Well, I'd like to know that. Black. Oh. Mm-hmm. Hmm.
But then I did see a TikTok like talking about how cool Volvo moms are. There was just like this gay guy being like, there's nothing chicer than a mom in a Volvo. And I'm like, okay, that's literally me.
I actually don't know anyone at present who drives a Volvo.
Because not a lot of people can reach that level of elite status. person I do know. She's so cool. Oh, that's why you got it. Yeah, yeah, I copied my friend.
That's why she got it. Understood. Oh, I had a question about your Volvo.
Not my Volvo?
No.
I have plenty of answers for you.
What was I gonna ask you about your Volvo? I don't know. I guess it'll come to me later. We're just so forgetful today.
It's the fucking donuts. The fucking donuts. It's like, remember we had mold in the Hamptons?
Yeah.
Now we have sugar in, in Florida.
It was just like such a tasty bite, but like, I Nothing good will come of it.
Oh, I had such an amazing experience eating the donut, and the monitor was on. I was sitting right here.
I mean, like, I hadn't even had— I didn't finish my drinks this morning, so I didn't even have my coffee, and I start my day with a donut.
It's gonna be okay. Like, I want you—
Like, next time, can someone bring eggs?
Oh, please don't bring eggs.
Someone bring—
You could bring your own eggs.
Sad. Hash browns.
Sure, sure. No, it's not like—
Maybe a frittata.
A sweet treat. And a box of donuts for me. These weren't from Dunkin' Donuts. They were more of like an artisanal bakery, but like a box of donuts donuts is so nostalgic to me, and I have such positive memories. It's like someone's birthday in middle school.
I know.
And it's just like fun. A box of donuts is like never a bad thing.
No, it also makes me feel like we work in a real workplace where it's like, oh, someone brought donuts.
Yeah, right. Oh, it's Nancy's birthday.
And so it was like, oh, there's donuts in the office.
Yeah. There's 4 of us. It's so corporate water cooler.
It was one of—
There's 4 of us and 6 donuts.
Who brought them?
They were dropped off. Oh, right, right, right. By like— I'll tell you later.
A connection. Yeah, right.
A mutual— a mutual connect.
The classic office stuff.
Exactly.

Today's episode is also brought to you by David Protein, which can now be found at Walmart stores nationwide and on walmart.com. So we talk about David a lot. They are, uh, the protein bar in the gold packaging that you're probably seeing everywhere. They popped up like last year and they are so popular, mostly because of CFP, which is the protein-to-calorie ratio. They have 28 grams of protein, which is obviously really good for a bar, that's like super high, but they have 150 calories, which is crazy low.
Um, so it's 75% calories from protein, which is CFP. It's the highest protein-to-calorie ratio available. of any leading bar on the market. They come in really good flavors, like very creative. I think a lot of the protein bar flavors, like the industry could definitely use a shakeup. Everyone's just doing like chocolate and peanut butter, and obviously they have like, you know, nice chocolate and peanut butter flavors over at David, but they also have red velvet, they have cake batter, they have cinnamon roll. That was actually the flavor of the donut that I had this morning.
That's what we should have eaten instead of the donut.
1,000%. We would be feeling a lot better. And as you know, most protein bars and donuts are packed with excess calories and sugar. Well, David is different. They deliver the most protein for the fewest calories. It's great for staying full, hitting your protein goals. If you're on a GLP-1 and you're really trying to keep up your protein, or if you're off of a GLP-1 and like really trying to stay full. So good to have these bars on hand. If you're just like a swirly who likes to stay full during the day and like a bar— sometimes you just don't have time for a full meal, or like a midday pick-me-up in the school drop-off line— David is a great option. They also now make protein shakes. Don't take our word for it, go grab one for yourself. Head to Walmart today to stock up on 4-counts of your favorite flavors like blueberry pie, salted peanut butter. You can check out walmart.com to find a store near you. That's David Protein and walmart.com. Today's episode is also brought to you by Reef. As you can't tell by my cozy cardigan, cozy season is officially upon us, and Reef's weekend collection is full of comfy boots and clogs that you'll be reaching for all season long.
The ridiculously comfortable collection includes slip-on boots and clogs, all lined up with faux shearling or faux fur to keep you cozy and warm. The best part is that they're meant to wear outside of the house, so you can bring that cozy comfort with you wherever you go. Reef is a super popular shoe brand. You guys probably know it from their sandals, which I think are their most popular, but a lot of people don't realize there are other categories. like clogs. I love a slip-on shoe. Obviously my belly's getting in the way these days, and sometimes that doesn't even have to do with pregnancy. So having shoes that you could just slip on that are so cozy that you can wear all day— I just feel like as women of a certain age, like, we need shoes that we can wear all day. Like, the whole idea of like swapping out shoes, like, we're not doing that. We've got school pickup, we've got work, we've got school drop-off, like, we've got it all. It's also a great time to start thinking about holiday gifting for a woman in your life who appreciates coziness.
I know a couple of people like that. Um, they also make kids' stuff, men's stuff too. So like, you can get a bunch of, um, people on your list taken care of when you go to Reef. We also have a code, code TOAST, T-O-A-S-T. Use that for 15% off your first order at reef.com/toast. It's a great time to shop early. A lot of the fan favorite styles and colors do sell out during the holidays. So I keep saying it's kind of early to shop for holiday, but it's actually not. We're almost in November, you guys. So reef.com/toast, the code is T-O-A-S-T, 15% off, code TOAST, reef.com. Today's episode is also brought to you by Momentous. So creatine— actually, everyone's talking about creatine. It's one of the most researched and effective supplements available, but the category has exploded, and a lot of brands that are making creatine focus on flavors, formats, marketing, instead of actually making the creatine itself the best it could be. And that's why Momentous created Signature Spec Creatine. It's their most advanced creatine ever. It sets a new standard for creatine quality. Their Signature Spec Creatine is one of the only creatines to be manufactured in a pharmaceutical facility.
They use reverse osmosis water for purification and is verified through an expanded 6-stage testing process with 4 independent agencies. Creatine is actually very popular for women specifically, um, but you want to make sure you're taking the best. And Momentous is like such a, such a popular brand and such a well-respected brand for their supplements. So when it comes to creatine, this is no different. They've improved the product experience with an ultra-fine powder. It mixes effortlessly. You're not gonna get a clump. I'm sorry, there's nothing like a powder clump. It's disgusting. The benefits of creatine are real, especially for women, supporting strength, power, lean muscle growth, recovery, improved cognitive performance. So if you want to try the Momentous Signature Spec Creatine, head to livemomentous.com. Use our code Toast for up to 35% off your entire first order. That's livemomentous, L-I-V-E-M-O-M-E-N-T-O-U-S.com. Promo code is Toast for up to 35% off. livemomentous.com, promo code is T-O-A-S-T.
Thank you, T-U-R-T.
Monopoly at McDonald's is back. You can't win if you don't play. Get your bag.
That donut is really catching up with me. Like, I'm okay. A girl who's gonna be okay.
First story, Dancing with the Stars recap. Dedication night features a lot of tears and a lot of love. So let's go in order. We had—
Yeah, I'm just pulling up our group chat because I love this thing where we like group chat all night long.
I was behind, so like my commentary is not—
But I want to remember my thoughts.
Yeah. Kim Herjavec guest judge. What do you have to say, Claudia?
So I texted this in the group chat, but obviously it was very difficult for me to see like my ops wife on the stage. Let me tell you, she was so dazzling. First of all, she was an amazing judge. I think that, um, Fran from, uh, Chicks in the Office, she said this on her story and I totally agree with it. Like, they kind of do need 4 judges. There's not like a good balance. And she was so— she should be permanent. Like, I loved her. And you know what, I like— that's Robert Herjavec's wife, unfortunately. I do have to think more positively of Robert Herjavec. Like,
and do you believe like that they were separated more because she obviously seems like an upstanding woman? Well,
I will say this. When I imagine— I didn't watch Robert Herjavec's season, and I actually never even heard of Kim Johnson Herjavec until I started watching Dancing with the Stars. So I did assume that she was like a 21-year-old dancer that he like left his wife for.
Oh, did you think that this whole time?
I thought she was like super young. She's like a woman. She's a woman. Yeah.
It's age appropriate.
Yeah. I don't know. It was a very good night for Robert Herjavec. I just wanna say he wasn't even there.
Yeah.
Yeah. I loved her. She's dazzling. Like truly elegant.
She had jewelry.
Like she obviously, she was like, she has a better budget for jewelry now and we are reaping the benefits.
Yes. She was a very good judge and I think she judges like every season, like one episode.
Yeah. Yeah. I remember last season.
Okay, so let's get into the night. As we know, Val was benched. They made mention of it at the beginning of the show and then in Jenna's package once. Mm-hmm. I thought they handled it well.
Let's not make it about, it's about Jenna's mom. Like, let's— They didn't like drag him.
Alan didn't—
Alan was basically invisible. Like, I, I honestly forgot he was there, and that's kind of how your pro should be.
He was a very good sub because he just like made— he was like a stand-in almost.
Absolutely.
First we had Ezra Frech and Daniela Karagash. They danced to Ezra's Mom. He talked about how, you know, his mom has made him the person that he is, given him the confidence that he has despite his disabilities, that she's made him feel like he can do anything.
This is what I wrote in the group chat. I'm violently shaking, crying with Ezra and his mom. Like, the videos of him as a baby with one leg, question mark. I'm going to need to be institutionalized. I felt sick. I actually could not recover the whole night. First of all, his mom's beautiful.
Yeah, and when they talked about she was in a couple of movies,
she had this big career that she really gave up to take care of her son and like be his biggest advocate, like just in terms of his confidence, but also like a medical advocate, like You guys, I was actually not fucking okay. Like, and if they showed me one more fucking picture of him as a baby, like, I was gonna throw myself off the roof. Like, I couldn't recover. And then on my phone, my phone must know I was like having a breakdown, they're showing me all these clips of him on Jay Shetty. He just went on Jay Shetty talking about his parents. Like, I, I was not okay. Like, I really was not okay. I fucking love Daniella Karagach. And you know what? You know what? Last night was a good night for a lot of men on my list because you know who I'm like kind of obsessed with now? Pasha. Like, that's Daniella's man. When he won, I was cracking up. Like, No, I'm obsessed.
Yeah, no, this was really beautiful. Really strong way to start the night. And probably what— maybe between like him and Tyler, like the most emotional dances of— not that it's a competition. Um, it actually is a competition.
Yeah, right, it's like the definition.
Um, and it was just too much. Like, what a woman.
Jackie, I wasn't okay. My next text: no, I am sick. Like, really not okay. I have to turn it off. I was so—
I can't imagine.
And Ben had finally left the room to go watch Nick in the other room. I was really, really upset. Like, it was just so beautiful. It was the perfect way to start the night. And honestly, like, the bar was really high. So when Tatiana came next and she was doing a dedication to not a family member, but like a public figure, you know, 'cause I have my thoughts about Julia Stiles doing that. So I thought that, you know, maybe Ezra would like sort of make her look bad. But I have to say, it was really beautiful.
Yeah. She danced with Alfonso, which is so cute.
Oh, I died. Like, it was so cute. First of all, like, so Dancing with the Stars family. I do think that you don't hear about toxic workplace Fresh Prince. Like, I think it was this like show where like the older characters really looked out for the young kids. I think James Avery was like an amazing guy. I like that she made a point in her, uh, speech at the end to like thank his family for allowing— like, so they had permission of the family. It didn't feel exploitative at all. Like, it felt really sweet. And I think if you're not gonna go for a family member, I'm judging you a little bit harder. I really am. Because so many people like opened up a vein last night, and it's like, well, you're doing it to Heath Ledger. Like, it needs to be special, honestly.
Yes.
And I think Tatiana's had the potential to not be special, but it was. Alfonso like was a really beautiful addition. And the dance was sickening. First of all, I think Viennese Waltz is the hardest one. That's just what I think. She slayed it. I loved the costume. I loved the dance. She sang. She sang.
She recorded the track.
I loved that. She is my girl. Like, I'm telling you. And I'm so glad somebody said you're most improved. Like, she really is. She's trying so hard and she's really giving it all physically, emotionally, the packages. Like, I loved it. Loved.
Yeah, it was really beautiful.
And I fucking love that Jan Ravník.
Next we have Maura Higgins and Mark Ballas. They danced to her home country of Ireland. And they brought in a 6-time world champion Irish step dancer. Lucky. Named Lachlan Lucky Howard. Um, and they danced to I'm Shipping Up to Boston, which is kind of like an Irish jig. And they also did the pasodoble. So there was a lot going on. There were like Irish dancing, pasodoble.
A little bit of Riverdance.
Ireland.
Yeah. So this is another example of somebody who kind of went really impersonal. And it made me realize that like Maura really hasn't shared a lot on the show about her life or her, But she gets away with it because she's so dazzling and she's funny and she provides in other ways. And you don't have to bleed out in order for me to like you. But I just felt like it was a little bit surface. The dance was cute as hell. Like, I thought the Riverdance or Irish jig, it was really cute. I loved the dress. The song was great. Like, I didn't have any problems with it. But when I look at like just the rest of the night, it just felt a little bit like impersonal.
I actually was fine with the dedication. I liked the various elements. Um, I actually thought the dance, her performance itself was not that strong. And I thought every— she had so many great makings, like the Ireland, the song, the pasodoble. It's all so strong.
And oh wait, and then finally—
And then I just felt like she kept like pulling faces and it just like wasn't giving strength. And she's a really good performer, so I was more so left wanting more from the performance. But I like that she dedicated to Ireland because it's like different. I don't know if maybe no one could actually come if she dedicated to something— she dedicated to her mom or something like that— if people are traveling for her.
Yeah.
And I, I I felt like— I don't know, I don't— it doesn't bother me that she doesn't give anything personal at the moment because she is a really good dancer, first of all, so you don't have to get—
And we didn't even notice up until now.
And she's funny and she's really trying and she's very earnest. Um, so I liked everything except I thought that the dance wasn't as good as it should be.
Well, when they brought in Lucky in the package, I was like, oh, they're gonna— he's gonna teach them how to Irish dance. And then when I watched the performance, I'm like, oh no, he's the third. Like, I didn't know he was gonna be in it. And so it's It's like, you have your pregnant fiancée, you have an old friend, and it's like this random guy you met last week. I was just like, oh wait, he's the third?
He's representing Ireland.
No, of course I understood the symbolism.
He is the embodiment of Ireland.
It just felt a little surface.
Yeah.
But I liked the whole, um, like shtick of it. Like when I heard the song, I was like, fuck yeah. And I loved her dress, like, and tink in the hair. Like, I loved it.
I liked it too.
It's a little like—
But it's okay. Not every— I don't wanna cry. Not everyone can be Ezra, not everyone can be Tyler, and I don't wanna watch 8 dances like that. I like the variety. Oh, I kinda do.
I was really leaning into like the emotional side.
No, but I, I thought that it was like, it was fun and different. Um, just the dancing— that's 2 weeks in a row now that I've been a little bit, um, underwhelmed by her dancing. Oh, but like my bar is so high for her. I think she's so incredible.
Yeah.
Then we have Savannah Bananas, Jackson Olson, and Emma Slater. They danced to Love by Nat King Cole, dedicated to his mom.
This one just didn't hit for me, like in an emotional way or in a dance way. I actually I thought Emma did— like, I thought the whole thing was kind of corny. Like, the song choice, the outfits, it was giving like cruise ship performer. Um, his mom was really sweet and he had really nice things to say about his mom, and if somebody was going home, it was definitely him. Um, I don't know, I just— I don't feel connected to him.
Me neither, but I actually strangely enjoyed his dance. Like, when he was doing the quick— the beginning was like, yeah, cruise ship, but I think it was meant to be like, L. Yeah, yeah. But then when they were doing the quick step, like, he finally can move. Like, I, I feel like he was the Tin Man for a while.
Maybe because like the banana bowl's over, he can finally let go.
Like, and they were really having fun, and I just felt so joyous, and it actually struck something in me, like the joyfulness. And beautiful. I really liked it much more than I've liked other
performances
from him, but like the way I liked his Uptown Funk, like I thought this was really strong. Unfortunately, I don't know if it cuts it at week 6. Yeah, because I don't know who else could go home except for like maybe Tyler, but he's obviously not going home
now. And Tyler is improving, that's the thing. Jackson's really plateauing.
I think Jackson is improving, but not at a rate that can keep up with Jenna Dewan Ty Mora.
Yeah.
Amber. Ezra. Ezra. Yeah. Like, we're just in the big leagues now. So I think he's taken this thing as far as it can go.
And then, um,
then Amber, Glen, and Pasha.
And after they performed, they, they announced that Pasha had won People's Sexiest Man Alive for like the dancer category. It was seriously so funny. There were like a couple of real— it was such an emotional night, especially Amber's dance was very emotional. And then they cut to like either weird sponsorships or weird moments It's like, it was kind of like full of highs and lows. I felt like definitely like the Cat in the Hat sponsorship could have waited till next week, like whatever it was.
Or Disney right after Tyler. Like, put Cat in the Hat right after Jackson or Ireland,
sure,
but after Tyler? We just had a gender reveal.
So the People's Sexiest Man thing was like actually funny, but like it was right after this extremely emotional dance from Amber. And I've, you know, been kind of difficult on Amber, and I felt like last night she did really open up and I, I felt it. Like, that's a good way to connect with someone who doesn't know you. Like, telling me about your sister, like, that's obviously gonna get me. The dance was sick.
Agreed.
It was the perfect score, right?
I also really appreciate that the pros in the package were like, uh, we're doing a contemporary dance, I will be representing the mental health struggle. Yeah. And so like, then when she's pushing him away and he's capturing her again, like, I'm understanding the dance.
It was very, um, Abby Lee Dance Company when she used to like do these— remember, you know, some Kendall Vertez famously played Rosa Parks, like where you, you're telling a story and you're explaining it to me so I know what you're saying.
I need you to explain it to me because this is only my second season watching. Like Jenna Johnson symbolizing the train,
right? I'm new here. Thank you for the explanation. Their dance was amazing. It really was. The sister, like, I love her. Like, that was seriously cute. Like, it was great.
Yeah, it was really good and one of my favorites from Amber. Plus Sia dancing to Sia will always help.
It's a good—
me care.
It's a good way to get ahead.
Help me care. Then we have Jenna Dewan with Alan Burstyn. She danced for her mother and did a Viennese waltz.
I think a lot of us were just gonna like curious to see if Carrie-Anne was gonna say anything. She didn't, and she shouldn't have. It would have been inappropriate. Um, I feel like so much of Jenna's like time on this show in the last week or two has just become about not her in a negative way, and that's annoying. I thought Alan was great. Like honestly, he was basically faceless and nameless, exactly what you would want. Her dance was beautiful. Um, I thought she might get a perfect score, and then the fact that she only ended up getting a 10 from Carrie Ann because like Carrie Ann obviously feels bad, like, was funny.
I just can't believe we're already at 10s, you know?
I know, where do we go from here? Even though I do think the bar for a 10 on dedication night is lower.
I agree.
And I actually feel like if you weren't even gonna eliminate anyone, and I feel like it's mean to score, like Tyler getting 8s after the gender reveal, like rude.
Yeah, but also it's like they started giving 10s towards the end of the night, but like Ezra didn't get a 10 from a sitting judge. He got a 10 from Kim.
Doesn't count.
But like, he should have got— if, if Jenna's getting a 10 from Carrie-Anne, like,
Ezra gets one.
Yeah.
Did you see Danielle Karayach like stepped on, on purpose? Like she climbed up his prosthetic and like used it as a platform. That was really sick.
It was really sick. Oh, and then were you okay at the end when he picked up his mother? Like the end of that book?
No, I wasn't. Like the end of that book.
Yeah. They mentioned it in the skybox.
Oh, did they?
Yeah. That they— Julianne, I don't know if Julianne like knew. I think someone must have told her. Oh my gosh.
It was my first thought. Like, yeah.
Yeah.
And so at the end of his dance, he picks up
his mom, just like the end of I'll Love You
Forever, where it's like she was once rocking him as a baby, he's now rocking his elderly mother.
And in the beginning of the dance, like, the mom's holding him like he's a baby, and then it's like just like the journey. Yeah.
Oh, I'm sick from that.
I could throw up. And then in the—
I'm actually sick now you reference I Love You Forever like that.
In the skybox, Julianne said like— and you referenced that moment for I Love You Forever when—
Oh, I totally missed that.
Um, the son picks up the mother and he was like, yeah, that's one of my favorite books, and Daniela put that in. Like—
Oh, I'm gonna kill myself. Like, actually end my life. I'm feeling upset and sick.
And you know what, I'm glad that they did that because I think that scene in the book gets clowned on a lot.
It doesn't get clowned on, but people love the book up until that scene because they're like, well, isn't it weird that this grown man is climbing through his mother's window? And it's like, girl, shut up, you obviously don't get it.
No, it's art. It's art.
It's all like the cycle of life.
It is. And then like that he would carry his mom, like that is how—
That's how life goes.
Biology will work, that he will be bigger and stronger.
He's this big strapping man because of all the love his mother gave him.
takes care of her.
No, I feel sick. You have to stop talking about this book.
So I'm glad that they did the book justice and made it— restored it to its glory. I'm glad he didn't throw a watch in the toilet.
Oh yeah, sometimes I want to drop you off at the zoo. Um, I want to say Jenna and Alan like did look like 2 pros. Like, it looked like the troupe. It was really stellar.
You know what I like was sometimes Zach will come in and watch a dance and he's like, which one is the star? And I'm like, that's major.
That's like when somebody asks if you got your makeup done and like you just did it yourself.
Yeah.
It's the best feeling.
Next we have Harry Shum Jr. and Jenna Johnson. Oh, this was really beautiful. The train and the grandparents and the granddaughter. I'm out.
Yeah.
I'm out.
I also, one of the only people, oh no, Tyler did his fiancée, but to do a partner, like a wife. And I felt like—
Oh wait, it was for his wife actually. Yeah. But he also included his parents.
It was so beautiful. And I think—
And then his daughter.
When he talked about like why he loves his wife so much. A lot of people say she makes me a great man. He was so like, you know, I've never heard someone like say that about being like, I was just like so different when I met her. And I was, I think think, like, you know, when you're the son of immigrants, like, you would just grow up kind of like serious, right? And he was like, I just like became a better, brighter, lighter version. It was so sweet, and she's so cute. I loved it. Like, Harry Shum making me care about him.
I agree. He really loves his wife. Yeah, they have a beautiful 20-year relationship in, in this town. Um, and I'm sorry, just the parents and the daughter, like, I couldn't get over the whole circle. Jenna Johnson did a really good job, and I like that song too, Stop This
Oh,
that was really cool.
As always, like, the song you choose does mean a lot to me, and that's an amazing song.
Then we have Connor Wood and Riley Arnold. They danced for his dad to Piano Man by Billy Joel.
They couldn't have chosen a more perfect song. It's like such a dad song. Um, it was sweet. It was really sweet. Tyler— I mean, Tyler— Connor, like, shared that his dad had cancer growing up, and so just he's always been like really grateful for his dad. It was really sweet. It was a good dance, and I felt like the judges were like a little lighter on him. You can't be that tough on people in dedication week, honestly.
Yeah, no, they're not gonna really critique, and nobody went home last night, so it's really just based— they're gonna use this week's scores into next week. Yeah, and pile them together. So they didn't have to really roast anyone.
No, and it was just like sweet. Every— you know,
it's not the vibe.
Here I am having to defend Carrie Ann again. I saw so many people like commenting on like how much she was crying. Like, I was crying too. Imagine being there. Of course, like, leave her the fuck alone. She's the only female judge too. It's like, leave her alone.
Then the dance that stole the night. Tyler Cameron, um, with Sharna dedicated his dance to mothers everywhere. He brought out his fiancée Tate. who announced that she's pregnant and they did a gender reveal with the judges. So
it was 4 minutes left and then they did it.
Can you imagine finding out the gender, being her?
No.
And finding out the gender of your baby with the rest of the world on television in this extremely heightened emotional state? Honestly, it's too much.
No, and it ending up being a girl, like when the whole thing was like about Tyler's mom, like it was too much.
No, no, no. I actually, I think that's like so crazy. Like, so like I would not be able to handle it.
Knicks were down by 4, 3 minutes left in the game. I said, Tyler's on, like, sorry, we have to go. I was screaming at my TV. Like, first of all, when Tyler talks about his mom and he started crying about how, like, you know, he goes to weddings and he sees people who get to dance with their mom and he's never gonna have that— like, I'm sorry, I just, I just—
No, it's just so unfair.
It's so wrong. And I remember when his mom passed away, like, I had— I never— like, I don't know her, but I remember he used to post about her all the time. Like, he was just, like, obsessed with his mom, and she was, like, funny, and, like, it was always And it was literally in one day. Like, she literally had a brain aneurysm and passed away almost instantly. And it's so sad. And I didn't even really put together the fact that his fiancée never met his mom and like what that's like to like, you know, end up marrying and now having a baby with someone who like your mom didn't know. And it was so beautiful before the pregnancy announcement. Like, it was just when Tyler talks about his mom, like, I get really choked up about it. And—
They could have even done that— not that they would have probably, and it made sense, mother's everywhere and then she's expecting— but even if they had done the dance with Tate for Tyler's mom, I think that still would've made sense. Of course. Once they're describing it, especially Sharna said, thank you, Sharna, that she's embodying the spirit of his mother.
Thank you, Sharna.
Thank you, Sharna. And the, and the prose really did like usher them from like these different journeys from this place in their life. So if he, she's the spirit of the mother and then bringing him to Tate, like it still would've worked even if she weren't pregnant. Yeah. And then to announce that she's pregnant, I love the costume, the dress. Like it was so—
Crystal's such a good dancer.
Yeah.
Oh my God, she could be on the show.
It was so like beautifully done. And then I didn't even notice that this is what they were doing until Derek pointed it out when he like lifted up Tate and like lifted her belly to the sky.
No, I'm gonna actually kill myself. Like, I need to be put on suicide watch after last night's episode. I was not fucking okay.
Oh, did you see the video of him picking up
the confetti? Like, seriously, stop. Like, I'm really not okay. When
he— they did a gender reveal, they blew confetti out of cannons. It's pink confetti. And so when Tyler and Tate are running off the dance floor, he picked up a piece of the confetti as like a keepsake.
Like when people go to the Eras Tour, they do that. Like, I'm really— I fucking love Tyler. Like, I feel like people are really hard on him and his dancing. I thought his dancing wasn't amazing. Who was
noticing.
Literally. Love Sharna. The whole thing was so beautiful. The gender reveal was like actually too much. And then of course it ending up being a girl after like this whole cycle of like mom—
The gender— I like, how did she experience that?
I, I just—
I think my heart would have burst.
Yeah, yeah, exactly.
My heart would have burst.
It was so beautiful. Like it was really one of the best things I've ever seen on TV, maybe ever.
Yeah.
I'm so happy for them.
Until I saw The Cat in the Hat and then—
Oh yeah, so then literally after Hands down the most emotional part of the whole night. Cat in the Hat.
Cat in the Hat. I guess there's a new Cat in the Hat movie, which is actually— It's good for me to know about. And what I saw in the dance is there appears to be a Thing 3 now, which is very important to me because I have 3 children. Oh, that's true. And I used to have Thing 1 and Thing 2, and, and now like that doesn't really work. But if there's a Thing 3,
yes,
that's sort of game-changing in my house.
I don't love the concept of just like messing with perfection. Like Cat in the Hat is a perfect story.
I agree, but I will take a Thing 3. Sorry. Like, I don't think that messes with the balance of if there's 3 things.
What if like Thing 3 is like woke?
No, no, no. The things don't speak. The things don't speak.
Do they have pronouns?
No.
Okay.
They're like, am—
They're things.
They're things.
Right.
So I don't think having a 3rd thing can change anything. Not at all. Maybe just a little more chaos in the house.
right.
Just more chaos in the house, another entity to cause destruction in the house.
I hope you're right.
Then our last dance, Julia Stiles and Ezra Sosa, they danced to Heath Ledger, Can't Take My Eyes Off of You by Frankie Valli, song from the movie 10 Things I Hate About You. Um, and then at the end of the dance, a couple of the cast members from the movie came out, including Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Gabrielle Union, and then the actresses—
A couple of other nobodies.
Who play the sister and the friend, and Andrew Keegan, who plays plays Heath's brother, like the good-looking guy.
Oh yeah.
You know, remember him? He looks exactly the same.
So let me say this, because last week when we heard she was doing Heath Ledger tribute, I was like definitely kind of hard on her, saying that like, you know, historically she's maintained—
Don't even know him.
That they've had no relationship, um, and this just feels sort of like an attention grab and like performative and exploitative, um. And I was really ready to have my mind changed. Like, you know, what do we know? Maybe they had this beautiful And I was really looking forward to her package most to hear more context. It's like this person who's so special to you, like Tatiana's talking about James, like how he was such a paternal figure in her life. Like you learn more about the connection and why he's worthy of this dedication. And to be honest, I heard quite literally none of that when she was like— the first thing she said was like, he was so authentic. Like, that's what you say about someone you don't fucking know. Mm-hmm. And I was just like, oh, like you were actually like don't know him.
No. And said nothing to the effect that they ever spoke again after the movie, because the whole night and the dance was about the energy he brought to the set and how she wanted to bring that energy to the dance and just embody that playfulness and everything that he gave to the movie set, to everyone, all of the actors and actresses, that like, that is something that she wants to take away. So from the day you wrapped, nothing else ever materialized or happened because you would have mentioned
Yeah, so now this is just the second week in a row where she's just sort of playing off of her like discography, having the castmates come this week and she had someone come last week. I was just like, I was really unmoved by the whole thing and I felt like it was the least like emotional.
It was worse than unemotional, like worse than a Maura, if you say—
Worse than what?
Worse than a space Maura dance. Maura
Higgins. Maura Higgins, yeah.
Because Maura Higgins—
Wasn't emotional.
Loves Ireland, she is Ireland embodied and she's doing this dance for people who can't vote. Like, she could have danced for some— done something to get votes. Instead, she's dancing for a bunch of people who can't even vote. True. She loves them so much.
No, no, you can't doubt her Irish pride.
She's so proud to represent them. True. So like, whether or not it was the most touching or whatever, like, she's doing something real. Yep. This is worse than unemotional because to me it felt exploitative, it felt irrelevant, and we don't know anything about you. I was shocked that that many cast members showed up, especially Gabrielle Union and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
Of course, the A-listers. Yeah. I also— that's why I brought up when, uh, Tatiana thanked James Avery's family. Like, I don't feel like got any sort of permission from like Heath, Michelle Williams, like literally anyone or anything from Heath's life connected. Nobody showed up. Like, I don't know, it felt weird. And then I also saw this morning, like, you know, Disney is producing a— there's a Broadway show for 10 Things I Hate About You. Disney is like a— it just like, it felt like sort of synergetic.
I was wondering like if they had any connection or if you can even stream the movie on Disney Plus, if that was like the sort of tie-in because they got the— it felt like a commercial for 10 Things I Hate About You.
Yeah.
And then in the end they put that voiceover, I hate that you don't crawl, or whatever. And it's like, but that's acting. That wasn't talking about—
That's not how you feel.
That's not talking about a real person.
1,000%. I actually like—
Did other people buy it? Like, what?
Yes, people. The thing is, it's such an adored movie. Like, it's literally— say what we want about it, it's the best movie ever. And we watched it growing up. There's like this nostalgic element for millennials. And then him passing away, it's like one of his, you know, most iconic iconic performances. So yeah, it's exciting to see the cast together, and it's exciting to see them acknowledge like how important this movie was. But like on a real level, like just human level, I did not like it at all. I felt like it was so performative and just another week of like us knowing nothing about Julia Stiles. Like she has literally shared nothing.
Yeah, I think that although Jackson, Tyler, and Connor are circling the bottom 3, I think she should go home next.
I completely agree. But people are eating it up. So it's like when you think about like views and ratings, like people are excited about it. Like, I, I think we're in the minority.
Okay, well, classic us.
Can't wait for time to be on our side.
Next week is horror movie night because it's Halloween, and Shirley Ballas is the guest judge, which I love. I also was reading about, I guess the Huff siblings grew up at a certain point Like, um, when they were— yeah, do you know that?
In the UK?
Yeah, because they were like really talented dancers. Shirley Ballas is a very like excellent prolific dance teacher, and so they went and like sort of were wards over there.
Like literally it's like incestual, this family.
Like, because like Julianne's like talking— she was kind of like talking crap about Shirley being like the scariest, and I should know, she's super scary. And it's like, if you don't know that that woman sort of like raised—
She just looks like a bitch.
Yeah, it's like, why are you talking about Mark's mom like that?
It's so disrespectful. Yeah, that's funny.
Um, okay, are you ready for our next story, which was a little bit of what we already talked about? Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks look on in awe as a championship banner is raised at MSG in an emotional scene.
I heard it was in real life, like, you know, as famously I was at Game 4, but I heard it was like electric. Like, Ben's parents were there, they were sending a million blurry videos, but it looked amazing. They did the ring ceremony, the rings were sick. Like,
they were huge. They look like, like banknotes. They
look like bracelets, yeah. And honestly, their fingers are so big it could probably fit on one of our wrists. I watched a video of them like showing Jacob Co, like the whole— was it Jacob Co? Or I'm thinking of Fantasy Bra. Um, oh, they did.
Yeah, same but different. Um, the ring, like, do
you know who sings that?
Little Mix girl Jade Thirlwall. I saw her reel where she said, sitting on the subway, nobody knows that Kylie Jenner walked to my debut single.
Yeah, uh, her first solo endeavor from Little Mix, Jade.
It's a good song. I'm gonna go listen to it in the car after this.
Um, the ring like opens up and it's like Madison Square Garden on the inside.
And it's a lip gloss?
Literally. Or like a snack. No, it's Madison Square Garden. It's sick. Like, do you ever wear that?
Oh, that is cool. Maybe like to your wedding.
Really?
I don't know.
Sick.
Yeah.
I wonder how much it costs. You think the players have to pay for it or like the organization?
Organization.
Yeah, I think so too, because like some of the players don't even make a lot of money.
Yeah.
Like a couple of them. Most of them make a lot.
Um, no, so it was a nice, um, Um, night at the Garden.
Except that they lost.
Speaking of the Garden, shouts out to Giggly Squad.
Speaking of the Garden, insane,
insane. Giggly Squad sold out Madison Square Garden, the first female podcast to do that.
And I think they sold it out twice,
and then they added a
second. Yeah, yeah, I don't actually— I don't know if the second one sold out, but they
sold out MSG headline. I saw she—
By the way, what male podcast has done that? They keep saying female podcast. I feel like it's the first podcast.
Oh, I don't Paige tagged Shep in like a—
Obsessed. What did she say?
I think she said like something like, let me know if you need me to get you tickets.
Yeah, right. What did he say? He was like overheard at a casino.
A couple like dust-ups.
Really nasty, like about her mom.
Like calling them like a little talk show or something like that.
He said that on Watch What Happens Live.
What did he say?
The little talk show thing was on TMZ. Oh, okay.
And then also at BravoCon, he was like—
Somebody was overheard, like it was on TMZ.
Talking poorly about her.
Yeah, about like her her mom. job.
That's funny.
Also, you just reminded me, um, Blake Griffin was on Watch What Happens Live last night.
Okay, he just got married.
Did he?
Oh no, I think Jason
Segel.
No, no, no, I, I got it in my news yesterday.
He was on Watch What Happens Live, um, and he said, because, you know, I'm in my prediction era, this, this is who he said is gonna be at the NBA Finals: the Knicks and the Thunder, and that the Thunder are probably gonna win.
Thunder! But like, the Thunder—
Andy was asking him these questions I was like, what show is this? Like, he was like, what are your predictions for the NBA Finals?
Like, well, he can be varied, I guess.
And then I think on Real Housewives of Atlanta, Charles Oakley's wife is a new housewife. So like, Andy felt like really excited to like have that sort of moment of
Charles Oakley.
Yeah, I didn't know him. Andy was like, have you seen Charles? What do you think about Charles Oakley?
You were just like saying Charles Oakley.
I thought maybe like you would know who that was. I was—
well, I was thinking, I'm like, I could know if he— what he is if he comes on Name Well,
I was thinking Andy. I'm like, his name is Charles Barkley. But no, it's Charles Oakley. His wife is on Watch— and I guess like is on Atlanta, and he's like on it a little bit too.
Cool.
Yeah.
Why would I care that Blake Griffin's on Watch What Happens Live?
I don't know. Don't you think that's weird?
No.
Oh, I think it's crazy weird.
I don't think so.
Like, is he promoting— like, did he write a book? Like, I just feel so weird. Well, he did get married. Oh, with Lisa Vanderpump. That was the other thing.
How's Lisa Vanderpump?
She said she was really excited to hear that Leah Remini was gonna be on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills 'cause she'd She thinks she could give the women a nice kick in the ass and that's what they need. She's such a hater. Um, it was good. She seemed good. I don't know what she was promoting, like Vanderpump Villa or whatever, you know.
Classic. Our next story, Andrew Shue and Marilee Fiebig. You're probably wondering who's that? The exes of Amy Robach and TJ Holmes.
Who just got married.
Who just got married. The exes are engaged.
Now this is a beautiful story. I love— what are we calling this? Like the Shania Twain effect?
Like, or the wife swap.
The wife swap, yeah. Like when your partners cheat on you and then you end up with the person who also got cheated on.
Yeah, because if you like them and they like him, then maybe you like him.
And I think that's also the plot of a Colleen Hoover novel that Allison Williams made into a movie, Regretting You?
Perhaps, where like they get into an accident.
And like they were like, well, why were our husband and wife together?
I just saw that on Reels.
Yeah, me too. And it was like, they were fucking. And I think that like as they discover this, the two fall in love. That's beautiful.
It makes sense.
If you're gonna get cheated on, at least you could like end up with a boyfriend.
Yeah, no, but like if, if I like you and you like her and she likes him, perhaps I would like him since we all like each other.
I like you, you like me, we're a happy family. So they're engaged, and who are— what do they do? Obviously the other 2, Amy and TJ, are like broadcasters. What do these people do for a living?
One of them is the founder of Forum.
Okay. I don't know what that is.
And the other, I don't know.
Okay.
But there you go.
Thank you for those extremely beautiful and descriptive jobs.
For those exclusive details.
Thank you.
For the exclusive details you can only get here at The Toast.
And that's the kind of, like, the level of journalism that— and, like, dedication to detail that the Golden Globes sees in us.
I just feel like you don't actually care what they do.
So I was watching TikTok and I saw a clip from Las Culturistas, and they were talking about the Golden Globe shortlist, and they were going through the list and they were like giving their thoughts on every podcast. And we were up to like the, maybe the S's before the Sean Ryan show, and then the clip ended. And I was like, well, I need to know what they said about us. So I went on this long journey to find it. I found it. And not Matt Rogers being like, okay, let's cosplay. So he was like, say the toast.
Well, Matt Rogers says the toast.
Yeah. So he was just like,
I'll do both.
Yeah, you say nothing. He was like, The Megyn Kelly Show, and then he said something about Megyn Kelly. The Toast. And he was saying such fucking mean-ass shit about everyone. The Toast, I actually like them.
Okay.
So if we don't—
You missed the okay from Bowen.
Oh yeah, no, Bowen hates us.
Bowen said okay.
I mean, I don't know what we've said about Bowen, but like maybe like not— I feel like I like Bowen. I, I said, I think I said at a time like he was the only good thing at SNL.
You did. And he can't be trusted, you know. We definitely talk shit, but he wouldn't have heard it. He probably just doesn't like, like, our essence.
But also, it's important to remember, like, we are women having children. Like, we've been doing this podcast for 10 years, and it's like, when we come on the show, like, pregnant, postpartum, like, sometimes we're, like, in moods.
You're saying we're hormonal women?
We are. And I think that's okay. Like, we are emotional, you know?
Yeah, too emotional.
Too emotional to be president. Like, no, I'm kidding. But, like, honestly, like, if you're, like, pregnant having kids, you can't be president.
Like, Claudia with the nuclear codes.
While pregnant? Not pregnant, I'm assuming.
Claudia.
Now?
Yeah.
No, like seriously, let me nowhere near the White House or that button, because like one bad day, one gestational diabetes test, and I'm clicking the button.
Less than that. Your air conditioning goes out.
Well, actually, that's not fair because you guys know like air conditioning is my trigger.
And it went out, and so she's hitting the nuclear button.
Being warm, like the way that people are like, I'm hangry. Like, sure, I get hangry But like being warm, like when the back of my neck starts to like moisten, that's my trigger. Like I, I will wipe out a small nation.
Yeah, I just don't think he likes who we are.
I agree.
To our core.
But who knew Matt Rogers did? So what they were saying, which is true, like first of all, they don't think any of the true crime podcasts can or should win because like true crime, it's just like, it's not the moment. It's not the moment. Oh, interesting. And if there are, like there would only be one.
Okay.
So when we're like whittling down, they were whittling down the list too. Okay, I think that we can automatically count out— they said Megyn Kelly because she like has publicly like said she doesn't like the Golden Globes. Like, they would never give her the nomination. But I also think a lot of these podcasters— and being a podcaster is inherently like sort of an anti-establishment thing to do, where it's like submitting yourself. There's 30 shows, you guys, right?
Joe Rogan's not submitting himself.
Tucker Carlson is not submitting himself. Megyn Kelly's not submitting. So that's 27. I don't think Shane Gillis is submitting himself. 26. Then there's like 3 true crime podcasts. I think we can take out 2 of them because only one one, but you might be able to say the same about pop culture. So it's kind of like us or less cultch. And I'll say this, if it can't be us, I'm happy at least Matt Rogers likes us. You know, it's not like 2 of our haters, just like one and a half.
No. And I'm glad that even if Bowen doesn't like us, that he didn't like hate us enough to go off.
Well, the thing is, is that like it was such an opportunity to like say something mean about us. People like say mean things about us all the time.
Of course, they love to dunk on us.
Yeah. And it's like, we're easy, like we're short and whatever. So like the fact that they And if it can't be us, honestly, I'm happy for it to be them.
Yeah, yeah.
But they were like making me feel good about like the people who obviously can't win because they were like rotten mangoes. Like, you just can't win. Like, that's— Matt was like, that's disgusting. Like,
they're right about that.
Yeah. So I do feel like of the 30 eligibles,
there's a lot of other— like, what'd they say about like Amy Poehler?
Oh, they like hate Amy Poehler because, um, she won last year and they is like, they were like, we invented like laughing with your guests. They're like, we invented like cackling. They were just like being like funny haters. Um, and I think that like they were supposed to go on and it got rescheduled, and then the day it got rescheduled before, they had to reschedule. So I don't know if they ever ended up going on, but it was a little bit content— there was drama.
What'd they say about Call Her Daddy?
No. It was a funny segment. Like, honestly, not— we need to stop— not us lifting them up, like,
why
not, saying how great the show is? They'll get it before us. They'll get the nomination.
Oh, and the Golden Globes isn't listening this deep in the episode.
Oh yeah, it's true. We're like 55 minutes in.
Oh wow, we gotta move.
Yeah, I have like ads to do.

Thank you, T-U-R-T. Our 4th story, some sweet news. Jacob Elordi will be narrating the audiobook for his Euphoria dad Eric Dane's memoir called My Book of Days. So Eric—
I just want to say, I know you've never seen Euphoria, and like, it's— this is so sweet, but like, the 2 of them are fucking demonic. Like, towards each other? Legit evil.
It's not like a sweet father-son relationship?
No, no, it's like an evil dad who gave birth to an evil son, and in their own ways, they're just legit evil.
Well, this is great news for people who didn't watch Euphoria because it sounds really lovely. His on-screen son will be voicing his audiobook. This is a posthumous memoir called My Book of Days: A Memoir in Moments. Um, apparently they had a very special relationship.
But it's funny because all you ever hear is like how terrible the Euphoria set was and how everyone hates each other, but here, this beautiful father-son duo.
Yeah, he had said, Jacob and I have a pretty profound amount of respect for each other off He's a really great person and he's a lot of fun to work with. He's a super committed actor, which allows us to sort of talk craft here and there, and we love doing that. Sweet. My only question is, Jacob Elordi is Australian.
Yeah.
So—
But it's not— it's not a— oh.
It's a memoir.
And memoirs are like in first person?
Yes. So will he be putting on an American accent?
I mean, he does pretty much an American accent in every role he does.
I feel like he should.
Actually, him being Australian is like low-key probably inconvenient for him.
I feel like he should. I feel like he should try and sound like Eric Dean because otherwise I'll be listening to it being like, Eric Dean was Australian?
What if other posthumous memoirs done for audiobooks? It's kind of like a tough spot to be in, even though with AI you could probably have like Eric Dean's voice.
But also, if you like wrote the book before you passed away, then you could also do the audiobook before you passed away.
Well, I don't think you would write the book after you passed away.
No, but like— no, wait, you wrote the book before you passed away.
As one does.
You could do the audiobook too.
Oh, right. I, you know, not to brag, but as somebody who has recorded an audiobook, my book behind me available wherever you purchase your books, um, it's kind of a terrible day. Well, 2 days. It's just like you're in this really hot booth, and you guys know hot is my trigger, and they're like making you reread the same sentence 1,000 times. And if you're dying, I just can't see that—
Like you want to spend your time.
1,000%. Like, it's It's really exciting in the beginning. You're like in this booth and it's all very— especially if you're like new to the industry, like it's like very novel.
You're very green.
You're right. And I was like, this is sick. Like I thought I was like in a recording studio.
Right,
Carrie. Let me tell you, it gets really old. It gets really old really quick. So I don't think like you're dying of ALS. And also when you have ALS, right? He had ALS, right? That does impact your ability to speak.
Yes. No, I'm saying I understand why he didn't do it, but other people, 'cause you said, what do other posthumous memoirs do for this? I don't think that's like a huge thing anyway.
I think it's like kind of a nice place for AI to step in.
Yeah. Also, Maria Shriver is publishing the book under her imprint. She has an imprint at Penguin Random House.
Maria Shriver is so random.
Yeah.
Have you ever seen
that? Random House. Oh, I love that one. Justin
Bieber. Making fun of her. I like your laugh.
Is that Maria Shriver?
No, it's Maria Menounos. Thank you.
Thank you for researching things.
Oh wait, so, okay, by the way, so this is less weird, by the way.
This is the Schwarzenegger-Kennedy.
I'm sorry. knows, had an imprint. And I'm like, how does she know? Got it.
Maria Shriver, ex-husband of Arnold Schwarzenegger.
She's a Kennedy.
Yeah, she's a Kennedy. Are they still married?
Oh my God, no. He like had a baby with the nanny.
For sure, but they could still be married.
No, they're not.
Okay.
They are not.
So the Schwarzenegger-Kennedy-Shriver woman is publishing the book. That
feels like John Kennedy married Lady Kennedy. I love that song. And Maria Shriver's in there.
Yeah, of course,
because she's a Kennedy
and she has an imprint at Penguin Random
Well, that's elite. Like, I, yeah, I would have my book published there. Like, she's cool.
And she also wrote like the Dear Reader chapter for the book, so she'll be voicing that in the audiobook.
And I guess we'll probably hear like how those two knew each other.
And like how this book came about. That's— it actually sounds really great. And aside from what you said about the actual show, this is really sweet. She sees him like a son.
And people love— like, we know Eric Dane. I know him probably from Euphoria because I didn't watch Grey's.
McSteamy.
Right. But if you're like a big Grey's Anatomy fan, like, this is very exciting for you.
Yeah,
there's just like an endless amount of drama that comes from Grey's Anatomy.
Of course, there's 1,000 people on set.
Katherine Heigl, like when she quit and like—
Ellen Pompeo.
She should give up her Golden Globe nomination or something, or like her Emmy. Would never be us. We respect the Golden Globes, what an amazing institution they are.
Are you ready for our 5th and final story?
Yeah.
Um, it's a little Halloween costume news. It is only October 21st, but it's starting.
I can't believe it's starting.
Like, it's starting and Kim started it.
And to be honest, I knew it was going to start early because because Halloween itself is what day?
October 31st. I know, I know.
Like Thursday?
I think it might be a Saturday, which is like fun.
So I feel like of all years, like this one should kind of be short. Just the weekend. Fine, Thursday, Friday, Saturday.
Yep, yep.
I'm sorry, starting 10 days early is insane.
Starting on the Tuesday of the week before the week.
And I forgot that like celebrities, they're not even starting— she's not going to a costume party. They're doing like a photo shoot in their backyard in their costume that they took like all day to get into. These people need jobs. Like, this is insane.
She's the busiest woman alive. However, she transformed into, into her 13-year-old daughter Northwest for Halloween, complete with blue hair, piercings, the whole nine.
So I want to say, like, I hate that she did this 10 days early, because had she done it on Saturday of next week, I would have thought this was hilarious. Like, it's a hilarious costume. It's like a self-reference I love. But the fact that she's so early— like, I'm sorry, Halloween's out of control. I will not participate in the overconsumption of Halloween.
And I don't really care what she would have shared that she had dressed up as. Like, I was just not ready to received it.
No, not at all. Like, I'm not even thinking about Halloween.
No, I would say this weekend I could— you can start to see some things because, you know, it's a weekend and we could— Halloween gets a week these days. A week. Fine. So if it's on a Saturday, we can start the weekend before so that everyone has time to do their parties.
But it's— but
not on a Tuesday.
No. I thought the 5th and Final Story was gonna be the Glee reboot, which was just announced at Hulu Disney Plus.
No, I didn't see that.
Yeah, and I've just decided that whenever we talk about reboots I'm— you're starting from a place of no for me.
We spoke a couple weeks ago, like, about the idea of it, right? Because someone said, like, if—
They're always asked. Oh, Ryan Murphy said, I just wrote the script, remember?
Yeah, and Lea Michele was on the carpet asked about it. But I just feel like we're always, like, talking about it. So even if I saw, like, it was happening—
No, it's, like, officially going to Hulu Disney+.
Okay, here. Oh, 3 hours ago.
Yeah, it just happened.
Disney and Hulu have greenlit a reboot of Glee.
Glee.
It's all about— there's nothing. Details about the new Glee are scant. Disney shared nothing aside from the fact that the series is being produced by 20th Television and will air on Hulu and Disney. Okay, nothing. That's all.
The fact that, um, people like refuse to create original works of art these days like annoys me. And so whenever there's a reboot, like, I feel like I'm always coming from a negative place, and I will continue to do that. Even Glee, my favorite show ever. Like, so you have to make an amazing show. Now I actually think they could do do it, but it's such a cursed— like,
I think they could do it, and no one's gonna like what I have to say, but they would have to start completely fresh, not bring in the old—
not a singular person, even
one. And unfortunately, it's
Sue.
I would love for it to be Sue, but it would make sense for it to be Mr. Schue or someone, one cast member who will be the new Mr. Schue.
Mr. Schue has not aged well enough as an actor or a character to be— and I think when people now look back on Glee, like, we all look at it being like, Sue was the best. And I just want to say, if Jane Lynch is not in it, throw it in the garbage. Like, actually, I feel more strongly about Jane Lynch and I do Lea Michele.
No, I think that if they rebooted it and it's the same exact show, it's a Glee, you know, cast of characters, we're finding new talent, amazing singers, redoing songs, like give us everything that Glee was. And also the way that Glee was written then, it was like so of the moment, like very progressive, like comedic timing was everything. And like we need a version of that for 2026. So like write Glee again in 2026, one carryover character who plays the head of the Glee Club,
or, or Sue is now principal.
But okay, but the head of the Glee Club should be someone we know from Glee, and that's it.
Okay, well, it wouldn't be Lea Michele because when we left her, she was a Tony Award-winning— honestly, it's giving Kurt
or Artie.
No,
but like someone kind of random.
Kurt.
Kurt?
Unfortunately, like, just if you know, if you know the characters as well as I do, like, it's Kurt.
Kurt could be— okay, maybe we have 2 people because like Kurt could be like the head of like the drama
and Kurt
like club.
Kurt is so Sue. I'm sorry, so Mr. Schue.
Oh, I think Kurt is more Sue.
No, Kurt is Mr. Schue.
I think we have like Kurt versus whoever.
All right, Mercedes. Mercedes heads the Glee Club.
I'm just saying, that's really it, because if we start bringing all these old people back, I just feel old.
It's true. And the show was like kind of cursed, so like—
And like the name Glee of the show, like that's about a high school Glee Club.
And nothing else matters besides the William McKinley Glee Club.
And unfortunately, none of those people can be in high school.
Correct. We're looking for teenagers.
Yeah, I guess unless, you know, they do like their little town rec center Glee Club.
