Good morning, girlies. It's The Toast.

00:00:08

It's Jackson Claude, and we're your hosts.

00:00:13

It's your favorite show, the fast five things you need to know. We'll start your day off swirly, it's The Toast.

00:00:22

They sound amazing.

00:00:24

Welcome back to The Toast, and happy Thursday.

00:00:27

Yay, Thursday.

00:00:29

Yeah. Yeah. Well-earned.

00:00:33

Well-earned Thursday. Feels good. Almost better than a Friday because you know it's all ahead of you. It's all right here.

00:00:40

I did something so crazy that I haven't told you about that I was waiting to actually share. I wanted to get a genuine reaction from you. Okay. I did something crazy last night. Track.

00:00:51

Crazier. Yes.

00:00:52

Literally crazier. I started Scandal. I know. Why? Because I feel like there's actually a lot of shows as a pop culture professional. I have a couple of blind spots, and some of them I'm not willing to unblind, like Grey's Anatomy. It's never happening. Our sister Margot loves Scandal so much. A lot of the sounds have been going viral on TikTok. So I feel like the culture was swaying me. Ben wasn't home, and I needed to do something. There's nothing on on Wednesdays for me. So I started Scandal. I have so many thoughts, and I didn't even finish the first episode. First of all, and I feel like, I honestly, I've seen one episode. I think I've seen them all. I get it. You know, push and pull with her and Fits. And then they solve a mystery every episode.

00:01:33

I feel like I've seen the show.

00:01:34

I have seen the entire thing as of last night. And I'm sure we get to know more members of her team. But she's like, Slay, Olivia. Olivia always slay. It's very corny.

00:01:43

So you're not going to watch more? I don't know. Please don't. Honestly, I'm not interested in this journey.

00:01:49

I am pulled to, of course, the romance. And I know. And honestly, something that was a huge motivator. Have you ever seen the clip of them doing an Instagram Live during COVID? And she asks him, What was What's your favorite season? And he goes, Probably fall. And then they're laughing so hard. That actually influenced me a lot.

00:02:07

Something that happened six years ago influenced you to watch the show six years later. That wasn't even in the show.

00:02:14

I'm just really doing my job at this point as a pop culture professional, I feel like it's crazy that we've never seen scandal.

00:02:21

I think of all the things that people are begging us to watch, maybe start with the new Love is Blind. Oh, really? I've also heard, even though Zack and I started it. I haven't heard. And I I've heard every season being like, This is shite. These people are shite. This is boring. And so I barely watch. I couldn't tell you one person's name. I've heard it's amazing.

00:02:38

Oh, really?

00:02:38

I've heard it's amazing.

00:02:39

I feel like it's the same hype for when we watch random seasons. Like, yeah, crazy things happen and it's good, but it's never going to be what it was. And I saw somebody on TikTok say, They need to stop making Love is Blind season. The experiment has failed. Love is not blind. No. And every season, it's the same trope. There's always a guy who gets matched with a girl who's not his type, and we have to circle the drain where he breaks up with her, pretending that he doesn't just think she's fat. It's not good. Once you've seen one, you've seen them all. So everyone being like, this season... No, they're all the same.

00:03:08

No, there's nothing better when you're in it, but the amount of work you have to put in to get to a place of euphoria, it's really six hours. And I don't have that to really spend six hours doing something I don't like in service of maybe having an enjoyable experience for three hours. Yeah.

00:03:25

Also, when I was on Netflix watching Skindle, I almost started watching Age of Attraction, which is the new It's a age gap show.

00:03:30

That would have been more time-losing the job.

00:03:32

I haven't seen people talking about it yet, so I don't know if it's making an impact. I will watch if it becomes culty.

00:03:39

My issue with that show is they act like you can't see someone's age.

00:03:44

And I want to know. Do we know the ages or do we find out at the end?

00:03:48

Interesting. I don't know. Let me know.

00:03:52

Is love truly blind?

00:03:54

I would be curious how it is, but you can pretty much gage someone's age based on looking at them.

00:03:58

It's just a context clues. How they talk. They're young. Wrinkles.

00:04:01

Yeah. I couldn't tell you the exact number, but I could give you a 5-10 year range.

00:04:05

Do they use TikTok language being like, not us going on a date.

00:04:09

How do they look? No, of course.

00:04:10

But some people can look really young or look really old for their age. I do think maybe they cast people who are- Who don't look their age. Who off you skate the tradition. But based on clothing and how they talk, there are context because you can tell when you're talking to somebody who's much younger than you. Yeah. Life experience.

00:04:27

Yeah.

00:04:27

Did they go to college yet?

00:04:29

It seems a bit of a flawed premise, but I'm willing to try if people say that it's good. I watched my favorite show last night, Southern Charms, season finale.

00:04:39

I watched clips of the three boys on Watch What Happens Live.

00:04:42

They went on Watch It Happens. I was wondering who was going to be on last night.

00:04:45

Do you know that the last time they all went on together, they made that very famous TikTok, I say a little prep, where there'd be Quinn, Santana, from Glee. Oh my God, that came up on my TikTok because it was the last time they were all on together. I was cracking up Craig in those pants.

00:04:59

I genuinely I love the three of them. I need them to stop fighting. Craig and Austin need to stop. I do feel like Craig is a little more open-minded where he's like, This is just the flow of Austin and I's relationship. We need to reset. Austin's like, I hate him. He's the worst. He's so obsessed with dating Craig, and they need to stop. They're meant to be friends. Were they friends on Watch What Happens Live last night?

00:05:19

Yeah, friendly.

00:05:20

I'm sick of them not going along. It doesn't work for me.

00:05:23

You can't be on Watch What Happens Live with your enemies. You're all drinking. It's like fun and light, and they're all dressed up out in the city. I'm sure they went out afterwards.

00:05:29

And then Andy had said that he had a dinner with John Mayer and the three of them. Which is really crazy. And it's like, that's your friend Austin and Craig. If you're having dinner with Andy and John Mayer, just be friends. It's better for your lives to be friends.

00:05:43

And I feel like Andy going out to dinner with Bravo Leopardies is a big deal. And then let alone introducing them to John Maher is such a big deal because he's always maintained this level of like...

00:05:51

By the way, John Maher is chef. By the way- Chef of the South.

00:05:56

Are we going to talk about Liam McSweeney? No. You know her lawsuit against Andy is It's going well for her. Andy tried to get it thrown out. I think that if she has some win, it might be a big deal for Andy.

00:06:08

It's going to be a public trial, so we'll get the play-by-play.

00:06:12

He had tried to get it thrown out. He had tried to get it a million things, and the judge was like, no.

00:06:16

So it's going to trial is the news. Yeah.

00:06:18

Leah released a statement, very excited for Leah's health.

00:06:21

I'm sure we'll hear a lot about it in the next few weeks and months.

00:06:24

Oh, all that to say, Andy so favors the men Bravo Leberties, taking them out to dinner with John Mayer. He would never take Dore to dinner dinner with John Mayer. Never.

00:06:31

He would never take three eligible women who would love to meet John Mayer.

00:06:34

And Southern Charme. Housewives is a very high tier in Andy's universe. Southern Charme is considered, I think, one of the younger shows. He would never take Madison LaCroix. No. I just want to say, having a baby at the exact same time as Madison LaCroix is one of the worst things that ever happened to me because she's like us, where she's weight obsessed, but in a positive way. She's always trying to... She's actually actively getting to her goal. She was talking a couple of months ago. She's only seven pounds away. I'm like, Oh, my God, I hate this woman. Then yesterday, she was talking about how somebody called her Kelly Osborne and how it's the biggest compliment she's ever gotten, eight months postpartum. And I was like, I need to unfollow you. I really need to unfollow.

00:07:06

No, I love her. Last night in the season finale, she had her baby and she brought Teddy home. I saw the clip on TikTok. And she was in the coup for 10 weeks. It was extra sweet. And her older son Hudson. I forgot how old he is, but he's a little boy.

00:07:18

A teenager?

00:07:19

Not a pre-tean. He's a pre-tean. And he's holding Teddy and her whole family's there. And it was so serious. I want to do it all again.

00:07:28

So I actually saw that clip also.

00:07:29

My ovaries are tingling.

00:07:31

I saw the clip, and I also got emotional because I saw that Hudson... She came home and Hudson was at home, and I was like, Oh, I wonder who he's staying with. It was her mom and her sister. And it was like, my takeaway was, obviously, it's great that she had a baby, but family's everything. You know what I mean? She probably had to be in the NICU for two weeks. Who's going to stay at home and watch her son, her first love? It's like, your mom and your sister. Yeah.

00:07:49

Hudson's dad's also in the picture. She has flexibility there, I'm sure. But it was just so beautiful. She's so happy to be a mom. She is so funny because she obviously got She's pregnant. I don't want to say big in her pregnancy. That's what she said. But she's just pregnant. She was so beautiful the whole season. The looks were saying. And I remember following her on social media. She gave herself grace until she didn't. You know what? Then at the reunion next week in the preview, she's like, I'm back in my biting weight.

00:08:15

I have to unfollow her. I really do.

00:08:18

No, but it's an inspiration, especially for someone who actually put on the weight and then took it off. Some people don't put on a lot of weight. And I like following those people, too, because I'm like, Well, that's magical.

00:08:28

It gives hope that maybe Maybe it could happen to us.

00:08:30

Yeah, it's just a fun thing. Aspirational. But no, someone who put on the weight and then took it off, did the work, that's motivational.

00:08:38

I need to find some influencers who put on the weight and didn't lose it. Just so I can feel less alone, because I know it happens to normal people all the time. I would say it's the more common outcome. Yeah, I need to talk to those people.

00:08:50

But maybe you are that influencer for someone.

00:08:53

Okay, great. But even heroes need heroes. I need someone to look up to.

00:08:57

And you are losing weight. So you've left your people in the I am.

00:09:00

But I'm also really struggling with finding my right dose. I'm in the process of switching. I haven't actually even switched yet because it's just a whole thing. So I'm gaining weight. It's not easy.

00:09:11

You're gaining weight as you switch.

00:09:12

Well, actually, sorry. I haven't even weighed myself. I just have a feeling. I had 1,100 pretzel rods before bed last night.

00:09:17

I haven't weighed myself in weeks. But the jeans that I wear still fit. So that's good. Works for me. Yeah, until I'm off the clock. Another couple of weeks.

00:09:27

Ben got back from New York very late last night.

00:09:29

What's it called? What's that TikTok sound?

00:09:32

Care to be sick of me?

00:09:32

No. It's over for you, bitches? No. And it's not- That just gave you two really good options. No, no, no. And it's not the one, She's back. But it's game time. What's that one? Nicki Minaj. It's game time, bitches.

00:09:45

I love it. I'm not familiar, but it sounds right.

00:09:49

It's Game tunes, Bitches.

00:09:49

It is Game tunes. Ben returned back from New York last night with a camera roll full of vlog content. I'm going to try and get it up today. He had a world win day in NYC with our QLab. I'm wearing so QLab today, and I've been drinking these Spritz. We should have done that alcohol a really long time ago because not me with my can. I'm so like Jeffrey Star with my straw and my Red Bull. The Spritz X Keel's Hydration Drink. Yeah, it's electrolytes. It's electrolytes, it's mixed berries, it's 10 calories, and it's available at spritzesciety. Com while it supplies last. When you buy it, you actually get the PR box. You don't just get a box of Spritz. You get the PR box, which is behind Jackie right now. Inside of it is four cans and the Keel's ultra-hydrating facial cream. Love. What else do you need? Hydration from the inside out.

00:10:29

On the inside Side and the outside. It was a very exciting day yesterday for the Spritz family, Spritz has Keels.

00:10:34

For the Spritz family, aka our family. Yeah.

00:10:36

Well, no, we have a lot of partners, and we bring in a lot of community.

00:10:40

We're on the Inc. 500 female founders list.

00:10:43

Yeah. It was a big week for Spritz.

00:10:44

Oh, my God. Speaking of female founders, please tell me we're talking about Megan. Yes. Oh, okay. I won't bring it up now. No, no, no. Well, now we have to get into it.

00:10:51

But it was a big week for Spritz between the founders being on the Ink 500 list and Keels. Everyone's talking about Spritz. So check it out.

00:10:59

And they're actually This was a really fun collab. It's a limited edition. It won't be here forever. It's not being sold at Target, by the way. A lot of people ask me that. It's just online. So get it before they sell out. But this isn't actually our big reveal. Our big, not collab, sorry. Our big launch is... I don't actually know when it is. It's in a couple of weeks, and it will reshape everything. It's going to change everything.

00:11:22

Oh, I also, I had an idea for Spritz that I need to tell that, and it just came to me.

00:11:26

He's going to be so excited.

00:11:28

I know, but I knew he was really busy yesterday, so I just wanted to get him at a good time. He's going to be in your house today. Do you know that? Okay, so that will be a good time to tell him my... It's not a business idea. It's like an idea for Spritz. Like a product idea? A product idea.

00:11:39

He's going to freak that you have an idea. He likes it. He's always wanting us to have ideas, and we're just like, We don't have ideas.

00:11:45

When he sits me down and is like, give me an idea. I'm not an idea on the spot, girl.

00:11:49

No, me neither.

00:11:49

But after drinking my pargy beverage yesterday of Spritz Hot Seals, I had a thought.

00:11:55

You have to share it with him.

00:11:56

Okay. I'll tell you after the- He's going to freak. Okay. Without further ado, we got a lot to do today. And I'll recap Southern Charm at the end of the show. I know everyone's on the edge of their seat. Without further ado, it is time for the fast five stories that you do need to know.

00:12:13

And the fast five stories that you need to know are brought to you by Smart Mouth. If you care about fresh breath, and we mean actual fresh breath, Smart Mouth is about to become your new favorite part of your routine. Smart Mouth is the only mouthwash scientifically proven to eliminate and prevent bad breath for 24 hours with just two rinses a day. And now they've launched something brand new, a first of its kind line of liposomal mouthwashes, powered by the same trusted SmartSync bad breath prevention technology, now enhanced with advanced liposomal technology and added everyday benefits built in. This new line includes a mouthwash with added vitamin C antioxidants, a morning mouthwash infused with B12 and L Carnotine, to kickstart your day, and an evening mouthwash infused with melatonin and a soothing lavender and chamomile flavor for a calming nighttime routine. These mouthwashes were designed to get seamlessly into your day for an easy way to upgrade your routine without adding extra steps. I love that SmartWrath took the mouthwash industry by storm because so many of the OG mouthwashes have really terrible ingredients, and they actually don't even fix your bad breath. They just mask it with a perfume-like scent.

00:13:07

Well, not only did Smart mouth fix that by using hardcore signs to actually eliminate the cause of bad breath, but now they're evolving into a bunch of different ones for different times of day, different needs, better ingredients, and I love that. So upgrade to a smarter mouthwash. The new Smart mouth advanced liposomal mouthwash line is available now at Walmart, on Amazon, and on TikTok shop. Or visit smartmouth. Com/toast to snag a special discount on your next Smartmouth purchase. That's S-M-A-L A-R-T-M-O-U-T-H. Com/toast. So grab yours and experience 24 hours fresh breath for yourself. Wetter Spoon is a brand, and they are the number one selling Manuka Honey in the US. Once you try it, you'll know why. So it's not like your typical squeeze bear honey. Manuka Honey is very elevated, and they make a ton of different... They use Manuka Honey in a ton of their products. It's the only USDA organic Manuka Honey brand on the market. Plus, they make these really yummy little honey drops, lollypops.

00:14:06

They make the honey itself. I knew about Manuka Honey because I watched Keeping Up with the Kardashian's, and Courtney Kardashian has been telling us about it for a while, but I didn't really know where to get it. Now Wetherspoon, it showed up at my door, and I have to say it's one of my favorite products, especially now that we're going to gym classes and we're with a bunch of other kids. It's great, but we're always trying to ward off illnesses. It's a natural prebiotic. It supports gut health, immunity, and it coats and soos your throat, which is really essential, especially as two swirlies who talk all day. Our instruments need to be protected. It's very easy to add into your routine. Give it to your kids. Just a spout. It's as easy as a spoon. It's very delicious. It has a sweet, creamy flavor and has so many added benefits. The texture, very thick, creamy golden. You have to try to experience in Of course, it's non-GMO, free of antibiotics glyphosates, so you can feel good about every spoonful. 00:14:58

That's wetterspoon, W-E-D-D-E-R-S-P-O-O-N. Com. Code, toast20 for 20% off your order of wetterspoon, Manuka Honey. Today's episode is also brought to you by Taylor Farms and their new Protein Power Line. So protein is obviously having a moment, and salads are now officially invited. Taylor Farms has just launched a protein forward line that packs serious protein. We're talking fresh veggies, protein-packed dressings, toppings and crunch all in one bowl, now available at Target and HEB. We know Taylor Farms, we love their chopped Salad kits. Everybody knows. I love this new line because protein is definitely Having a moment. If you're going to eat a salad, you might as well make it worth your while. Get everything you need for the day in one bag. Instead of tossing protein on top, Taylor Farms got creative. They added protein boosted dressings, extra cheese where it counts, crunchy toppings with protein built in, multiple protein sources working together, like whey, dairy wheat, chickpeas, and more. The powerhouse lineup includes chopped salad kits with up to 21 grams of protein, which is about two times the protein of their current chopped salad kits, complete salad bowls with up to 23 grams of protein, and the mini salad kits, which is the perfect portion for a gal on the go.

00:16:02

Now pack 10 grams of protein. This is a really inspired development over at Taylor Farms. I want to say the product development team is doing the most, and I appreciate that. As always, Taylor Farms pre-washed, pre-chops, so easy, ready to eat out of the bag. If you want to eat it out of the bag, you can also put in a bowl if you feel like it. They're now available at Target and H-E-B. The new line is called the Protein Power Line. Make sure to try it in some iconic flavors like Southwest, Green Goddess, Caesar, of course. Now available at Target and H-E-B. Thank you, Taylor Farms, for sponsoring today's episode.

00:16:30

Thank you, Tert Farms. You're welcome. Our first story, as we were just discussing, so let's bump it to the top, is Megan Markel being slammed for sky high price of luxury retreat in Australia. So Megan Markel is set to be the VIP guest to headline a women's retreat in Australia for the podcast, Her Best Life. Podcast host, Jacky O. Henderson. It's her retreat. You're fucking kidding. Of Kyle and Jacky O. Of former Kyle and Jacky O. Jacky O. Henderson, not me, you guys. And Gemma O'Neill have recruited Megan to lead the event, which will focus on, quote, powerful conversations, relaxation, laughter, and unforgettable experiences. It sounds like Cam Toast. Attendees can become a part of the VIP experience for roughly $2,288, or they can lock down early bird tickets for $1,930.

00:17:19

But that doesn't get you the second row seating with Megan and the group photo with Megan. Yes. The highest tier.

00:17:24

Gemma revealed she'd be interviewing Megan as part of the event. According to her, Megan became involved in the event as a to a mutual friend, but noted that she really loves what our community is about. The biggest moment of the weekend, a gala dinner, was billed as an in-person conversation with Megan. Vip guests will be allowed to partake in a group photo with the Duchess of Sussex, and will also receive a goody bag, plus access to an Oceanview hotel room. One royal expert said the event offers a rare chance to see a more personal side of the Duchess.

00:17:53

Okay, the first person I thought of when I heard this was Taylor Strecker. Do you know that Taylor Strecker was fired from SiriusXM for She's putting on an event like this where it's like a girls getaway and it's expensive, but all in, you're getting a good price for the hotel or whatever. Oh, my God, I was cracking up. I actually meant to call her yesterday to talk to her about it. Obviously, this is an extremely low-brow thing. This is insane. I don't really know what to say besides that. That is all there is to say.

00:18:23

I'm trying to understand the structure of it because at first it seemed like she's selling tickets to come and meet her and it's her business. Which is misleading. Which is misleading, but I don't know if that's actually worse than what it is. Other people are making money off of her taking- Do you think she's not being paid? She's getting paid, but she needed that lump sum, and these people can go out and be like, Hey, take a picture with Megan.

00:18:45

So they're going to Australia. Like, literally the furthest possible place you could go from the States, I think to like, I can't use this word- From some support? No. And I'm using this word twice, but to offuscate the criticism that's coming. They can't do anything now in America. The way they were obsessed with them, now it's really turning out that- Do you think they're going to become Australian superstars? I think they think if they go to Australia, maybe not superstars, but they could get some good press, make a little bit of money, and out of the sight of American media and American critics, but we're following. I'm sure she thought this event was like, It's a random women's luncheon in Australia.

00:19:22

Yeah, I don't think she thought anyone would care about the random women's weekend.

00:19:25

She could make this 100 grand, whatever they're going to pay her, pocket that and make the trip a little bit more worthwhile.

00:19:33

So you think they're just getting into a new market in Australia?

00:19:38

No, not new market. I don't think they care about becoming famous in Australia. I think they need to do stuff, need to make money, and they really can't do it in America right now.

00:19:45

They've also really tapped out in the American market. They've gotten money from everyone. The well dried up.

00:19:52

Or maybe because they are these ex-royals, and they do... She still calls herself the Duchess. You know how part of being a royal is you go on royal tours. You go to the different parts of the Commonwealth. Australia is the Commonwealth, right? So maybe this is their version of a mini tour, but they can't really get a lot of gigs.

00:20:08

So they're getting paid.

00:20:10

They're putting together their own tour, and it sucks because the opportunities where the real royals actually go there, they can't do the royal stops. And the royals- And they have to speak at the women's luncheon.

00:20:21

The royals don't get paid to go on tour. They probably pay for it.

00:20:24

Well, but it generates a lot of revenue for the palace and stuff.

00:20:27

It's good. It's all goodwill. So they're doing their own tour, but they're trying to get paid. They're going on a tour.

00:20:32

Yeah. And I think that the opportunities to do a tour in a country that actually has royal tours, there aren't a lot.

00:20:39

Interesting.

00:20:39

Just a guess. I actually don't know.

00:20:42

I don't know either. But I do think it's true. The wells have dried up here. There's really not much more money for them in America between the corporations and consumers. We've given all we can. I think they also have a little bit tapped out on Canada because they used Canada. If I were Canada, I would feel used by the Sussexes.

00:21:01

It's that, but it's also the fact that Canada is really close. We share a lot of media. When things happen in Canada, all the Canadians know what's going on in America. They're obsessed with us. It's a shared culture, don't you feel? Yes. North America. They went to the farthest place they could think of. And I don't think that that... I think that that's intentional.

00:21:20

Yeah.

00:21:21

Thinking they could get away with whatever and American media wouldn't pay attention. They were not expecting this poster to have gone so viral on the Internet. Once that poster hit the internet, the entire trip is pointless.

00:21:32

Yeah. I feel bad in the sense that what they were trying to do backfired. That's just like, I feel bad for someone who's planned backfired.

00:21:41

I think it's crazy to spend upwards of three grand for a group photo. I have a group photo. Who cares? I have a group photo with Leonardo DiCaprio. That's true.

00:21:51

But it would be a large group photo.

00:21:54

Yeah. It's like everyone who bought that tier. Yeah. Like, that sucks. It looks like a class photo more.

00:21:59

But I guess if It's all business women, and it's the other people there. It's about the other people in the photo, too. It's like, we just look like a bunch of women who are here by our own accord, not that we paid for it.

00:22:10

What do you think the royals should do?

00:22:14

Oh, I think they're cackling.

00:22:16

No, I'm sorry. I don't know why I said the royals. I meant Megan and Harry. What is the right next step? Because they do want privacy, but they do need to earn a living. I don't think that they have enough money. I think all of this, everything is motivated by money. I think they live a very high- But I I also think like, Megan likes going to stuff where people are going to love her.

00:22:33

And if people are paying to see her, that's a very comfortable environment for her. And that's a fun weekend for Megan. Like, Hey, everybody. How's everybody doing?

00:22:42

But I don't think she's going to have fun. I think this is a business trip.

00:22:45

No, but it feels good as opposed to walking into rooms and going to awards, ceremonies, and events where it's like, How do people feel about her? What are they saying about her? I think this is actually a very pleasant experience for her.

00:22:55

But I mean more so like, zoomed out. What should their next... Nothing they do now is going to satiate quite literally anyone. But they do need to work. They don't have enough money. I don't even know if they could, but should they return to the royal family? I don't even know if that's an option. But you, Jeanie and Beatrice are- I guess we need members.

00:23:15

We need working members. But we did even when they left. And Prince Andrew was already immersed in scandal when they left, and they left when we needed them. No, I'm not a part of this family. When they needed them. And then Charles got sick, Kate got sick, and they were there.

00:23:30

Lizzie passed away.

00:23:31

Of course. And now they're- Go to Philip. They're cobbling together. They're back. And so now you're going to come back? I know. And they finally have bounced back from the bad PR of Megan and Harry and everything that they said about them. Oh, my God. I would never take them back.

00:23:46

No, of course. Just because that's us as human beings. But there's like a...

00:23:49

An institution. I think they're bad for the institution. Affirm. They're bad for the institution. And so what? They could leave again?

00:23:54

I think they are bad for the institution.

00:23:55

They would come back and they would leave again.

00:23:56

It's so settled now. The best thing is for it to not...

00:24:01

Yeah. I mean, I think if money is an issue, which I can't imagine it's such an issue, he has an inheritance and they got $20 million here and $20 million there. So they got...

00:24:11

But then they bought a $20 million house.

00:24:13

They could live a little smaller if they needed to. Definitely. Like a little bit smaller. And I think going back to acting for her isn't the worst idea.

00:24:23

It's a no-brainer because people don't seem to like her. But the thing about acting is that you pretend to be someone else.

00:24:28

And people liked her as an actress. Yeah. They really did. They loved Rachel.

00:24:32

What project, though? She's so recognized. She's almost too famous to act.

00:24:38

It would have to be something really incredible, a really great script.

00:24:41

I'm telling you, she's about to release original music.

00:24:44

We're scraping- No, she's about to be on Real Housewives.

00:24:47

Yeah. Honestly, even Real Housewives don't do these types of events, these girls' weekend getaway where you pay $6,000.

00:24:53

Yeah. No, it's really crazy that you could have every opportunity and fumble it.

00:24:59

And fail. Yeah.

00:25:00

And they have a lot of powerful friends. Why won't someone put her in a movie?

00:25:06

Bezos.

00:25:08

Tyler Perry.

00:25:10

Yes. I forgot that he housed them. Yeah. But also, were they at the Bezos wedding? Because there are a couple of social blind spots. Why aren't they tight with the Obamas? Why aren't they tight with Chris Jenner?

00:25:26

They were at the party. They were at the birthday party. Who was? Megan and Harry. Remember the Oh, yeah.

00:25:31

But I don't think that means they're close. I think now the Kardashian's probably hate them.

00:25:33

But they got invited to the party. Yeah, yeah, fine. But we hate them. We know that.

00:25:36

Yes. Why aren't they friends with the Bezos? There are a couple of things that make me very suspicious of them socially. I do think they've moved to Monte Cido, that whole fabulous crew, Ellen.

00:25:46

They've blown through friends and business. They must be the worst. It's really crazy. Imagine having a Netflix show and Netflix wants to give you a line of product and all you have to do is decent job.

00:25:58

Be endearing, yeah.

00:26:00

You get this whole house with its own farm and all your famous friends, and Mindy Kaling, and famous chefs are coming to teach you. Everyone has a show and can keep it going.

00:26:10

Someone in this lifetime that I actually trust implicitly is Mindy Kaling. I would love to know because they had that awkward moment being like, It's so funny that you call me Megan Markel.

00:26:20

I feel like people made so much of that moment. I don't know.

00:26:22

If you watch it, Mindy was shook. I would love to know what Mindy thinks behind closed doors of Megan.

00:26:28

Like, does she still hang with Mindy?

00:26:29

I I don't think they ever really hung. I think she got the opportunity. Maybe they had met a couple of times. And of course, you take that opportunity. But I could see Mindy really not liking her.

00:26:37

Yeah, I think they really need to lay low and do the thing they said they were going to do, which is the privacy. The privacy. But no, spend a couple of Gs to come and take pictures with me. That's privacy.

00:26:48

It's just like, it's so low-brow.

00:26:49

No, it's really... It's insane. Everything they said was a lie. Everything.

00:26:54

Yeah.

00:26:55

Because they had enough money to not have to ever do stuff.

00:26:58

If they lived a very small Not a very small.

00:27:01

His inheritance is over $20 million.

00:27:04

Not living in, first of all, the most expensive neighborhood in the country. They live in Monte Cido.

00:27:09

People are giving them houses.

00:27:11

Right. Tyler Berry litter gave them a house. Not You don't need... If you're not a public figure, you don't need stylists, you don't need glam, you don't need publicists, you don't need agents. You don't need all these things. You can really... She probably still needed a publicist, but you know what I mean?

00:27:25

Yeah. No. A very small life. They have... Means.

00:27:30

Him from his mom. Yeah. And then her from a successful acting career.

00:27:34

Yeah. And if they had just made themselves a little more scarce, it wouldn't be three grand for a meet and greet. It'd be like 50. Ten. Yeah. Are you ready for our next story? Yeah. Alex Warren's on Call Our Daddy talking about the Grammys Malfunction. Oh my gosh, Alex Warren. My heart- Your boyfriend. I wouldn't call him my boyfriend because I don't feel like I have a crush on him. I look at him like a son.

00:27:55

Your brother.

00:27:57

A son. He's like a son to So beautiful. Also, you know what? I discovered a new artist who I think is very much in the zeitgeist. Somber. Gen Z. No, not Somber, even though I like that song. Me too. No, Siena Spiro. Yes. And I blame all of you, bitches, and you and Margot. Why didn't anyone tell me? I had to find her on my own.

00:28:21

I didn't know that you needed to be told about literally the biggest song in the world.

00:28:26

No, no one- I know.

00:28:28

Nothing could matter.

00:28:30

So good. So good. So I saw a video of her just singing on my Instagram. So now in my car, I went to Sianna Spiro, and I listened to a bunch of songs, and I was like, You fucking bitches didn't tell me. She's amazing.

00:28:42

We didn't realize, and I think I speak for Margot as well. We didn't realize how- I needed an invitation.

00:28:46

How little you knew. I needed an invitation because it's not just that one song.

00:28:50

She's very like Gen Z, Amy Winehouse, Adele.

00:28:54

And that's really seems to be a theme. It's not just that one song. It's not just that one song. A theme Olivia Deane and Ray. And this seems to be a new genre.

00:29:01

It's not a new genre. It's mostly British.

00:29:05

It's always been a genre that is really popular right now. And I'm like, I love this.

00:29:09

And a lot of it's coming out of the UK. You got to go to the UK. You would thrive.

00:29:13

There are so many things. The Palace, of course. Yes. History. That's really my concentration. Yeah, of course. Is English history. Doughton. Doughton. I'd like to see Doughton. I feel like maybe it would be- It would destroy the...

00:29:26

Yeah, it would be like Crusty and Old. I actually follow Doughton, the Castle.

00:29:30

Yeah, because it's like a working castle.

00:29:32

Yeah, and I will say, the magic is gone.

00:29:35

Yeah. Oh, speaking of Julian Fellows, I sent you this yesterday. Gilded Age is casting for a newborn baby.

00:29:41

Yeah, so people are guessing in their comments that it's Gloria's. Oh, that's daughters got married and have a baby.

00:29:46

I was just like, If you want your baby on Gilded Age.

00:29:48

It's insane. They're casting a newborn to five-month-old. I can't. That's insane. You should do it. Do it. You could be like those people from the valley, Danny and Nia.

00:30:00

$300 a day.

00:30:01

It was eight hours for a baby for $350. That's insane.

00:30:06

Seriously, at that point- Do you think maybe it was $350 an hour? No. It didn't say that.

00:30:09

Yes, it said $350/8 hours. I feel- For your baby to be tortuous. Sure.

00:30:15

Don't do it, guys. Oh, my God. Don't do. But if you really want your baby to be on the Guided Age, I guess, here's your chance.

00:30:20

Of all the places that your baby could be, it's an amazing place.

00:30:25

It was an incredible thing to see, you could have your baby be on the Well, that's what I learned from Danny and Nia from the Valley, that their twins are the twins on Young Sheldon. Yeah, and because they're in the business, Danny has been an actor his entire life, it's less odd to me. He knows the sets, he knows the schedule. Let's go, baby. But I don't know. It's really crazy.

00:30:49

But when I see really little babies on TV, I'm always thinking, who the fuck would do that? And then I met two people on the Valley who do it? I think it's so crazy.

00:31:03

Actually, in the age- As if they're not busy enough.

00:31:05

In the age of like, CGI and AI, I really feel like it's eliminated the need for baby actors.

00:31:10

Well, but then they get clowned on. Like, remember an American sniper? He was holding a doll.

00:31:15

And that's why it's one of my favorite movies, because they didn't abuse a child just for a scene. And when you think about birthing scenes and there's babies covered, do they cover newborn babies in paint?

00:31:26

I don't know.

00:31:27

I don't know. When you think about it, it's really dark. And I just feel I would rather watch a movie that has some of the shittiest AI baby versus the cutest real-life baby. Leave the babies alone, actually.

00:31:38

Yeah. Where are they getting these babies? Who's doing that? And what new mama is subjecting herself to a day on set?

00:31:45

It's not enough. And it should be the most overpaid job.

00:31:48

The highest paid person on set.

00:31:50

Let me see. Hold on. What's 350 divided by eight?

00:31:53

Divided by eight or times eight?

00:31:54

Divided by eight. It's $44 an hour. I'm sorry, that's not enough.

00:31:58

Can you do it by times eight see if maybe it's for eight hours, if it was $350 an hour.

00:32:03

That would be almost three grand, but I'm letting you know. I'll pull up the poster right now. It was not.

00:32:08

I could see people doing that for three grand. That seems not possible. Okay. If you have twins, you get 500 for eight hours.

00:32:15

It's literally dollar sign 5-0-0-8-H-R-S. If you have one baby, it's 3: 50. So you're getting like, shafted if you have twins because you're not even getting double. Yeah. But I guess each baby gets tortured half the time.

00:32:29

It's discount, or unless they needed twins for the scene.

00:32:33

They're casting for twins and single babies. Yeah. To portray newborn. Oh my God, that's insane.

00:32:40

Really, really crazy.

00:32:42

I'm going to start a charity. Where if you're thinking about doing this, I'll just give you $350. It's really not. It's not worth it.

00:32:49

I really have to believe in my heart that it's the three grand because that- It's not.

00:32:55

I'm just telling you it's not. I just read the poster.

00:32:58

No, but I think you're misunderstanding. It's still not listening. Can you read the comments?

00:33:03

So funny. I went to the comments looking for people enraged. It was just tagging their friends. Oh, no. But somebody commented, thankfully. This is obviously a new comment. That rate is so low for babies. In eight hours, a baby under six months are only allowed to be on set for two hours and work 20 minutes. Oh, I didn't know that. I guess that's the SAG rule.

00:33:20

Yeah.

00:33:21

Yeah. They're paying even less for twins. Absurd. My baby is a legitimate professional newborn actress. Her rate usually starts at $1,200 for 2 hours. Gross. Minus agent fees. It's sad when production companies try to hire talent direct and underbid their worth to save money.

00:33:35

I don't understand how a woman who has a two-month-old already has all of this in place. Okay, well, now- Not only is her baby two months. Now I'm on the page of the woman. So that's not a lot of time. But she's two months postpartum. Now I'm on the page of a woman. And she's ratata with the agents. This is my baby's rape.

00:33:49

Now I'm on the page of a woman, the woman who says she has a professional acting newborn. The newborn also has an Instagram page, but it's private. It just says Model an actress. Model an actress. And the baby was born 1226. So that's a three-month-old baby.

00:34:07

What? And so did she decide that her baby was going to be an actress before the baby was born, or she met the baby and was like, You got- Did we have her on the show?

00:34:16

I don't have these answers.

00:34:17

I'm sorry. No, honestly, I don't want to be really judgmental, but I'm judging.

00:34:21

I'm letting you know we're not... We sound judgmental.

00:34:25

No, but I think I can own that. I think I'm going to own that one.

00:34:29

Yeah, agreed.

00:34:30

That's really crazy. Yeah. Anyways, Alex Warren is opening up about his tech malfunction function at the Gramm.

00:34:37

Oh, right. Sorry. Because he's like a brother, a son to you.

00:34:40

He's like a son to me. And then I just wanted to let everyone know I've discovered Santa Spiro. Oh, right. No thing to any of you. And I'm really having a renaissance with the music of this generation, like my son Alex Warren. So he was on Call Her Daddy, and he talked about the Grammys, which we all saw there was sound malfunctions. He looked like he was going to cry, and he's explaining what happened, and how bad it was and seriously, how horrified he was. So he said, I've never talked about this. It was horrifying.

00:35:06

I like how he says, I've never talked about it.

00:35:07

It happened a week ago. I thought the same thing.

00:35:08

What opportunities have you turned down?

00:35:10

Seriously, stop. Don't clown on my part. Sorry.

00:35:12

No, I love your son. He's a great A great man. He obviously gets his singing abilities from his Auntie.

00:35:20

He said, We rehearsed it all week. He said that everything went perfect while practicing, and to this day, I don't know exactly what happened. He explained that very shortly before his turn in the Best New Artist performance medley, something happened and everything cut out in his in-ear devices. There were like 30 seconds, and I said, I can't hear anything. I can't hear myself. The guy's like, It's live TV, 25 seconds. I go, Guys, something's wrong. Something that's blasted into the left ear and right ear, I hear nothing. I go, Guys, I can't hear. The technical difficulties persisted, which he accepted were just meant to happen. Crew members tried fixing the issue by changing the volume, but it didn't work. He said, I start singing and all I'm hearing is what's from the other room, like a crowd mic is on or something. Once I start getting into the hallway, there's this hallway in the performance, I the left ear blasting again, and so it's just the left ear. He then said that the audio in his ears was mono rather than stereo and therefore difficult to hear. There's no mix to it, so all I'm hearing is my voice super loud.

00:36:10

I get down to the steps and then immediately I start hearing echoing on the right ear, so I take it out. And then that made it worse, stupidly. He said when he reached the stage, his in-ear devices started working correctly again. When we rehearsed it, they weren't expecting 20,000 phones to be on and everyone was filming. And so the RF cut it out. And then once I got to the stage, because there's two fins, I would assume, once we got to the stage, got it back. I don't understand that. I don't know.

00:36:33

He had 30 seconds to go and he told them what was wrong. It sounds like no one was taking him seriously.

00:36:37

Yeah, maybe. So I guess something he was trying to say that all the phones in the arena blocked the signal.

00:36:43

They were on the whole time, and they worked for everybody else.

00:36:44

But he was also starting his performance in a hallway where if it's made of concrete, it's harder to get a signal. But he practiced in a hallway, but he didn't practice in the hallway with the 20,000 phones. But then it came back.

00:36:55

He's being hella gracious. I would be fucking pissed.

00:36:57

He also said that he has a fear of fights and And he didn't get up. I get up on that thing. And so he didn't love that. But by then it was working, and then he just wanted to cry, but he didn't want to cry on live TV. And I think he handled it well because we knew he was disappointed. I'm glad that we knew that, but I'm glad that he didn't completely break down. He also couldn't have stopped singing. Right. And been like, this doesn't work.

00:37:17

I mean, I would have done that.

00:37:18

I know you would have emotionally, but it would be so unprofessional. It's better to have a bad performance and to be like- Than no performance.

00:37:26

Yeah.

00:37:26

He handled it really as best as he could. So I'm so, so sad.

00:37:31

I'm glad he's finally talking about this. I feel like I've been dying to hear from it.

00:37:36

Why? He posted a TikTok the next day. I'm kidding. I'm kidding. Because he's finally talking.

00:37:39

Oh, yeah. You're so out of the loop. No, I know. But also, he's like, I've never talked about this before. Yeah, because it happened last week.

00:37:45

Excuse me. Sorry.

00:37:46

I know that's your son. I would never disrespect. Stop.

00:37:49

He's opening up. He's sharing. I feel really bad for him, but he'll be okay. Then he obviously didn't win Best New Artist, and he was bummed about it, but We know that it's a curse.

00:38:00

Yeah, I would actually be happy to win.

00:38:02

I'm worried for Olivia Deen. I know.

00:38:04

Even though she's crushing it. Do you know her new song? It's a QLab with Sam Fender called Raine Me In.

00:38:08

No, I didn't know.

00:38:09

Okay. I think you'd like it. So this is me telling you.

00:38:11

And I also blame Spotify. Our partners at Spotify because my release radar, I don't feel, is doing the most amazing job keeping me abreast. Got it.

00:38:21

Okay, so if you want to jot this down, it's called Raine Me In.

00:38:24

I'll play on my phone, so when I get in my car, it starts playing. That's a nice feature.

00:38:28

It's going viral on the talk right now.

00:38:29

Raine, like the- R-E-I-N. Oh, interesting, because I would have thought it was like raindrops.

00:38:35

No, like to rein someone in.

00:38:37

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Rein, sorry. I thought it said twice. R-e-i-g-n. There's a lot of ways to spell Raine. That's what I said. Okay. I like Sam Fender, too.

00:38:47

Yeah, I know.

00:38:48

That's like my elk of music. You're British. I'm British. You are British. Maybe I'm British.

00:38:55

I'm Latina.

00:38:56

Remember how we said in a past life? Yes. You're like, King Henry's little brother.

00:39:02

Yeah. And your Queen Anne, whatever her name was. I'm King Henry's little sister. Literally. I don't get it. I don't get the joke. You don't remember?

00:39:16

I don't know how- No, I remember vaguely this conversation. From eight years ago that we said that in a past life, you're King Henry's little brother.

00:39:23

I'm like, why did we say that?

00:39:25

I don't know, but it feels right. Okay. And if I'm British and I'm your sister, That means I'm King Henry's little sister.

00:39:33

I more so don't understand why it's so funny. Do you know what I mean? Usually we're cracking up together. I don't get it. Sound up in the comments. Is that funny? Yeah.

00:39:46

Oh, we always had the best time.

00:39:51

Oh, British. I forgot I'm doing stuff.

00:39:54

Oh, you want to do the ads? We're only just did the second story.

00:39:57

Oh.

00:39:57

Actually, the third story is really light and really funny, so I'll just get to it. Carlos Sophia Gascon is trolling Timothée Chalamet.

00:40:04

Throwback to Carlos Sophia Gascon. There was a time, and this is what's so crazy, the key asylum in Caps. It's crazy how there's a pyramid where we are talking about somebody every single day. I swear to God, if you didn't bring this up, I never would have heard that name ever again.

00:40:21

No, I know. But that was also by design because she was canceled.

00:40:25

Yeah, I don't know if you guys remember Carlos Sophia Gascon was a trailblazer. She was a The star of Amelia Perez. In Amelia Perez, yes. She's trans. She was like- In the movies about trans surgery.

00:40:37

She was like an eight girl. Penis to vagina.

00:40:38

Penis to vagina, vagina to penis.

00:40:40

It's about a trans drug lord, right?

00:40:42

Yeah, but not even drug lord, like a cartel.

00:40:44

A cartel leader that then is trans.

00:40:46

Who takes off his glasses and realizes he's handsome. It's the craziest fucking movie ever. Like, literally the craziest movie I've ever seen. It's a musical, too. It's a musical, and they literally sing about, Vagina, tu pinis, pitines, tu vagina. I'm not making that up.

00:40:59

That's an And they literally sing labiaplasty in the song.

00:41:02

The song is called, if you want to listen to it, it's on Spotify, it's called Vaginaplasty. It's a literal train act. I think it's all in Spanish.

00:41:09

Selena Gomez is in it. That's the other part.

00:41:12

And Carla Sofía, that's good.

00:41:14

And Zoe Saldana, like, won everything.

00:41:18

She's the star. During the awards season when she was like, seriously, the it girl of Hollywood. The Bell of the Ball. They found her old tweets. It's seriously just like a tale as old as time. And She was never to be seen again. But now I guess she's popping up. Literally everyone coming out of the woodwork to cancel Timothée Chalet.

00:41:36

The old tweets came up before the Oscars. She was still at the Oscars, but totally hidden.

00:41:42

Oh, yeah. She was pretending that those tweets didn't exist.

00:41:45

Yeah. It was just over for her before it even started. And so she is finding a parallel in what Timothée is going through right now. And she posted a meme saying her and Timothée on the phone. I guess that was a funny meme. Like he's calling her for advice.

00:42:03

Oh, funny.

00:42:04

And she said, Ola, Carla, do you think they're going to make me past the red carpet at the Oscars? Laughing emojis because I guess that's what happened to her. I guess that she got forced. And then she said, Are you a trans as a woman, then don't worry about it, Tim. Even though I don't think that's what happened here.

00:42:18

I don't think they kicked her off the red carpet because she was trans.

00:42:20

I just wanted to say. Or that she got a harsher punishment because she was trans. No, because she really wasn't available. If anything, it was probably very hard for them to be like, Wait, go, go, go. Which was more offensive. I feel like- She said, Besides, I love ballet slippers, and I've seen the Phantom of the Opera 10 times. Not sure if that counts for anything. Best of luck with the awards.

00:42:41

She's like, So sweet, honestly.

00:42:42

Throwing salt. No, she's like, I love the ballet.

00:42:45

I guess what she's saying, I guess she sees her situation mirrored in his because he's up for an Oscar. But this isn't a real scandal.

00:42:52

He didn't say that- No, it's not a real scandal. She thinks that he's going to be treated totally fine because he's not a trans woman. And she was thrown in the corner because she's a trans woman, not because of the tweets.

00:43:04

And this is one of those situations where if you don't... You know the Timothy scandal, but you haven't seen the interview. If you now go watch it, it will seem like so not a big deal. And it's so funny because people don't actually know what he said. I was watching this actually terrible take on TikTok today of a girl talking about her take and being like, And Timothée said that ballet and opera is dead. That's actually not what he said. He just says, Nobody cares. So it's like people don't even know what he actually said. They're all just giving their takes on opera and Broadway. I mean, excuse me, and ballet Where were your takes before this? You're not a true supporter of the arts.

00:43:33

Yeah. I also feel like the way that this tweet is written from Carla Sophia Instagram story, it's giving like, real housewife. I feel like I could see her on the Real Housewives. I just want to say I would love. The way that she's talking, it's like, what are you saying?

00:43:48

The Carla that we were seeing before she was actually escorted out of the awards, she was funny and crazy and just really giving like...

00:43:55

Is that what we were seeing?

00:43:56

Marisol's mom.

00:43:58

Mama Elsa.

00:43:59

She was giving Mama Elsa just crazy older woman energy.

00:44:02

Yeah, I could see it. I wonder where she lives. I don't know.

00:44:05

She would thrive with the Real House lives in Miami. Yeah. They always speak Spanish.

00:44:08

She's also acting like she's better than Timothée. I love ballet, even though you... You know what I mean?

00:44:12

I was escorted off the red carpet. I also love ballet. I miss her. I know.

00:44:19

Me too. It's fun to hear from her. Yeah.

00:44:21

And that was such a crazy award season.

00:44:23

That was really crazy that that happened because Amelia Perez was everywhere, and then it was like, came to a screeching halt.

00:44:30

People are saying that one battle after another is much like Amelia Perez.

00:44:33

That it's very bad, but you wouldn't know.

00:44:35

People are like, Are we talking about the same movie?

00:44:38

Well, that's what I feel about Sinners now, based on... And it's the same thing. People talk about Amelia Perez, amazing movie. So I was like, Amazing movie. I never saw it.

00:44:46

I saw it.

00:44:48

And then I saw two or three clips, and I was like, whoa.

00:44:50

Horrified, yeah.

00:44:51

Whoa. And then I saw that one Sinners clip. I would have assumed Sinners was a good normal movie. I wouldn't think anything of it. It's star-studded, and it's not I'm winning. Great. And I'm like, whoa. Yeah. Whoa, guys. Yeah. Maybe that's just like movies these days. Are just bad?

00:45:08

No. Like...

00:45:09

Poorly written, shockingly bad.

00:45:11

Maybe the elk of movies has changed since we were kids.

00:45:17

In what way?

00:45:19

They're just crazy now. When I watched all the award movies last year, which was such a fun thing to do, I couldn't believe that like, A Nora was the film that watched. And people are always like, You don't get I fucking hate when people say that. I actually think you don't get it because bad is bad. People love to say, Well, you just didn't get it. But also it could have been bad.

00:45:38

Yeah. You could have not gotten it and it been bad. No, I got it. But it wasn't bad because you didn't get it.

00:45:45

When I just think of the Elk of Movies that used to be like when we were growing up, I hate to be like a grandma. Movies that won all the awards.

00:45:51

They were like- Slumdog Millionaire.

00:45:52

Slumdog Millionaire, of course. They're amazing, amazing movies.

00:45:57

Titanic.

00:45:58

Twelve Years of Slave. They were making real movies. And then I watched Anora, this actual student film, Pornography. I'm like, this just won the same award as Titanic.

00:46:08

That's insane.

00:46:10

Insane. And there actually were a couple of movies. I watched them all last year. If they won, I would have understood it. I can't say a movie that really stuck with me.

00:46:16

Conclave.

00:46:17

Conclave. So good.

Dating apps are basically a social experiment that quite literally nobody consented to.

00:49:09

I think, like I speak for all single people when I say it's something that people feel like they have to be on. But it's a really unenjoyable It's a terrible experience, but in this day and age, it really is one of the most popular ways of meeting people. But it's so hard. It's so unenjoyable. I think a lot of times you end up going on dates with people, and then they're not even interested in relationships. It's like, why do you want a dating app if you don't want to date? It's so frustrating. That's where Upward is totally changing the game. If you're someone who wants commitment, not... Let's see where this goes. That's why we love Upward. It's a dating app where faith and values are the starting point. You're meeting people who already care about the big things like family, integrity, commitment. It's not a jump scare three weeks in when you realize the person you're with is fundamentally incompatible, they don't want to commit, and just seriously confusing you and wasting your time, which is one of the biggest crimes you can do. We love the clarity of Upward. You're aligned from the start on core values, and then it's dating with intention.

00:49:55

You're growing. This culture is very obsessed with situationships. We're in a talking stage. I want to say, just start dating. Upward is for people who are sound of mind. That's not a talking point that they gave me. Serious. Whether faith is central to your life or just something that shaped you, Upward connects you with people who want the same foundation before things get serious. If you're done wasting your best outfits and your time on men who don't believe in labels, downward the Upward app and start dating with intention. Upward, U-P-W-A-R-D. Start dating with intention, especially if faith is a big part of your life. I think you'll really enjoy the process. As much as one could enjoy because dating is hard. Upward makes it easy. You okay over there?

00:50:33

Oh, we're all done. I was just refilling my beverage. You like my cute cup? Very cute. I'm in a cute cup mood. Okay, our next story. Exciting news. Casey Musgraves announced her new album with Texas roots coming out on May first. So she announced her new studio album. It is called Middle of Nowhere, and it is her follow-up album from Deeperwell, the architect. The description for the notes that it is a collection of songs that draws from a love of Texas, dance all classics, humorous takes on the human condition, and the space where traditional country borders many sounds, including Nortenio and even Zdeco. She said in a statement announcing the album's release that it was made during the longest period of time that she was single. During that time, she was living between Texas, Tennessee, and Mexico, and the album came out of a lot of time for creative ambling. She said, I became fascinated with the concept of liminal space, both geographical and emotional. We don't linger in these transitional empty spaces is long enough and rush to define where or whatever is next.

00:51:33

So I want to say I'm really open to receiving this album for a multitude of reasons. The description sounds like O. G. Casey. A lot of people don't realize I invented Casey Musgraves not only in my family, 100%, don't even try. I was at one point in time- No, that's okay. At one point in time, nobody on the planet was a bigger Casey Musgraves fan than me. And it was fun and exciting when Golden Hour blew up. There were two albums before that, just people don't know that. They know her from Golden Hour.

00:52:01

They were really excited about this album. You could listen to those, too.

00:52:04

Yeah. She got all this mainstream success from that. I do feel like it influenced the type of music she released, and I think she went so sideways with Breadwinner. I did not like it. It wasn't for me.

00:52:15

Also the one that was Space Cowboy.

00:52:17

No, that's Golden Hour.

00:52:18

No, it's not. It is.

00:52:20

I don't think it is. No, it is.

00:52:22

Hold on. There's an album in between. There's not. Space Cowboy. Oh, that is Okay, what's the other album?

00:52:31

And then right after that was the red one. I think it's called Breadwinner.

00:52:33

High Horse.

00:52:35

Is that the name of the album?

00:52:36

What's that from?

00:52:39

That's also on Golden Hour.

00:52:42

Star-cross. That's the album.

00:52:44

The red one. Yeah. That's breadwinners on that one, right? That was the lead single.

00:52:48

Good Wife, Breadwinners. That was all about her divorce.

00:52:50

That was the album after she had all this mainstream success. I feel like she was making it for the new fans. It was very much edging out of country. It wasn't for me. I feel like maybe she a little swept up in just being the most famous girl in the world.

00:53:02

But I also think because she was having so much pop success, Hollywood success, that's where she was spending her time. It was very LA.

00:53:08

She was at the Kardashian Halloween party.

00:53:10

Right. She was making music for that time in her life, which wasn't the same time that came before, nor after.

00:53:15

And so not only was that music not for her O. G. Fans, I don't even think her new fans liked it that much. I think that's probably her least commercially successful album.

00:53:24

They were fair weather fans, I would say.

00:53:26

Yeah. And then she stripped down a little bit. I think she took some time off, did a lot of self collection on the deeper Well album, which is very good and it's very reflective. So it's not a sad album, but a deep album.

00:53:36

Yeah, it's a deeper Well. Now I feel- And we got songs such as the Grammy-winning song, The Architect, and the Toasty-winning song, The Architect. There are some songs on there, the message is messaging.

00:53:47

Now I feel like she went so far left. She rebounded, she came back to herself. And now I feel like this album is going to be the most similar to what she's really known for. She has a song with Miranda Lambert on there. That's the lead story because apparently her Miranda had beef. I didn't know about it. Now we know it's about the song Mama's Broken Heart, which is Miranda Lambert's most successful song ever. It was actually written by Casey Musgraves and other songwriters. But Casey is one of the lead writers on it. I guess she had plans to keep it for herself. She wasn't an artist yet. She was just a very successful songwriter for other people, but she was going to hang on to this one. Somebody sent it to Miranda without telling her. Miranda loved it so much, and Casey was like, I had to give it to her with all the other songwriters. That's how you make your money. I couldn't screw my fellow songwriters because I wanted to keep this one song. It ended up becoming big. A lot of people made a lot of money off of it. Then Casey was like, But you know what?

00:54:33

I wouldn't have done Same Trailer, Different Park if I had done Mama's Broken Heart. Everything worked out for everybody. But she was like... She said in an interview, she's like, I just hated Miranda Lambert because a little bit of resentment, And so they were not friends. They weren't enemies, but they didn't like one another. And then when Casey was writing this album, she realized that her and Miranda are on similar vibes with their divorces and everything. And so she just reached out and was like, I have this funny idea for a song. Would you sing it? And Miranda was down. I think that I would be best friends with Miranda Lambert. And so I'm glad that Casey and her are connecting. And Miranda's very country. She doesn't even bother going pop. No.

00:55:06

And also, Willy Nelson is on the album, which if Casey Musgraves isn't doing something with Willy Nelson or talking about him. They have music together. Then she's not Casey Musgraves. Billy Strings It sounds like a country person, and Gregory Alan Isikow.

00:55:18

Yeah, no, I'm feeling positive about this.

00:55:21

Me as well, because Deeperwell, to me, it wasn't like banger season, but it checked all the boxes. It was an amazing album.

00:55:28

Yeah. I do feel I feel like that Grammy was almost a little bit of a curse for her.

00:55:33

You know what? I think at the time everyone knew that it was good. I think she probably even knew. Because how do you seriously win Album of the Year as a small artist and ever match that on the next one? You don't. It is going to be a slump before it gets better. And I feel like everybody knew that was coming.

00:55:51

And also, I think if you're looking at the country swirleies right now, I think for a while, a couple of years ago, a lot of them ventured into country pop, and that's where the success was, the Maran and Kelsey. Now I feel like the girls who are really killing it in country are really reverting back to Ella Langley type, like Miranda Lambert type. It's a real country. Hopefully, she follows that trend a little bit and goes back to her. It's true.

00:56:12

Some of the country pop, like girlies went there and didn't come back, and nothing really happened over there. I feel like the- The trends. The same way that everyone's listening to this soulful music right now, like Olivia Deane, it's like they stop listening to country girly pop. Not me because I'm a country fan, but the fair weather fans were like, Oh, we like Casey Musgraves and Maron Morris, and now they're like, And now we don't.

00:56:35

And I feel like, not to blame her, but it's low-key Taylor's fault. She had this insane crossover, and I think a lot of people then tried to replicate it with this fearless type of country girl pop. And a lot of the girlies followed her, and it worked for a while, but now I think what's popular with women in country is this very rodeo, Megan Maroney, Ella Langley. Very country. It's very girly country, but it's not pop at all. It's country. So hopefully, Casey follows suit. I don't Miranda would sign onto a project that was even remotely pop.

00:57:02

I feel like this is not going to be pop. It's giving more deeper well, like musings and just poetry set to music.

00:57:09

I could go a little more upbeat deeper well.

00:57:12

I don't need to contemplate my entire existence. Every time. I listen to The Architect. But The Architect is one of my favorite songs of all time. I actually forgot about it for a while. Until this conversation, I need to go stream The Architect.

00:57:26

It's so good. It's so good. I'm looking forward to becoming becoming a huge Casey Musgraves fan again. Not that I ever... I wasn't a hater or anything. I just wasn't keeping up as much because it really didn't feel like it was for me.

00:57:36

You felt left behind.

00:57:37

I did, and I really did not like that red album, Star-Crossed.

00:57:40

She's coming back for you. Yeah. She left me behind. And don't forget how we felt about Deeperbell. I feel like we already forgot.

00:57:45

No, no, no. But like...

00:57:48

That was her going back to her roots, and now I feel like she's going to step out a little more, but hopefully not straight too far.

00:57:54

If you're interested in being a real Casey Musgraves fan, not a fair-weather, Star-Crossed fan, I highly recommend listening to Dime Story Cowgirl. That song makes me cry every time I hear it. It's so sweet. She was just... She's so precious. I'm telling you, I have really high hopes.

00:58:08

Are you ready for our fifth and final story?

00:58:10

Somebody got eliminated on the Massinger.

00:58:11

Massinger reveals the identity of high voltage. Yeah.

00:58:17

You know people have a biological clock? My body knows it's like Wednesday after nine o'clock. I'm like, I have to check the Massinger reddit.

00:58:24

So I actually didn't. I picked the story, but I didn't look at who it was until now. You ain't going to know who it is. It's Alex Lawless. Alexi Lawless, who is a former soccer player turned Fox sports analyst.

00:58:35

Apparently, he's an amazing voice. People were really shocked. I don't know who he is. So that's always not exciting when you don't know the person.

00:58:41

No, that's not exciting at all. Did people guess this?

00:58:44

I don't think so. I think it's a hidden talent of his because he's a soccer player. Oh, and he's like... He's handsome. Yeah. Yeah.

00:58:51

He's like a dad. Yeah. Like a daddy or dad? Like a dad. He looks like someone's dad. Father. But I don't know if he has kids.

00:58:59

I know just the woman.

00:59:02

So great job.

00:59:04

So today you have your son, Alex Warren, and your dad, Alexy.

00:59:09

No, my dad and my brother, King Henry.

00:59:11

Of course, of course. It's a family affair today.

00:59:15

How many people are left? I know. I expect you to know everything about the Massing or My Conceit.

00:59:18

You're the one watching. I actually don't know. I know nothing. There's still a lot of people left.

00:59:23

Oh, really? Yeah. I want to say- Because good. I never want- Like eight. Oh, they guessed Travis Kelsey for him. That's a good guess. Imagine. Imagine. I want to know how many people... Oh, they're still Pangolin, Crane?

00:59:38

Crane, they're saying is Normani.

00:59:41

Oh my God, it definitely is from the work from home video, music video. Yeah. When they were...

00:59:47

That's what people are saying.

00:59:48

There's just fucking no way that she...

00:59:49

So Philip Phillips, Normani, literally all my ops. Ashley Simpson, Evan Ross, I think. These are all guesses. I don't know for sure.

00:59:56

And Pangolin was in the bottom, too.

00:59:59

I don't I don't know who people think that is. With high voltage.

01:00:02

Oh, here you are in the roundup.

01:00:05

Did you see that? Spencer Pratt is slowly inching up. Like the recent polls, he's only eight points behind Karen Bass of LA. Isn't that insane? I saw the poll this morning. I'm like, there's literally no way. I love it. I know.

01:00:16

Now for Southern term recap,. Oh, right. Yeah. So we're just wrapping up the season. Carolina Day party, of course. Of course. Hosted by Ms Patricia. And not her house. I wonder whose place that was. It was really nice. So I'm got all dressed up and came to play. Charlie is done with Craig due to what happened on the bus with Sally. However, I don't... And I love Charlie. Oh my God, and she looks so gargy at the beginning. I don't fully endorse the way she went about ending things with him because she didn't. She just was like, I'm not speaking to him again. Didn't tell him why. He was confused. He's like, We used to talk every day, and now we don't. And it's been four days since Mexico, so he's like, I'll talk to her at the party. She keeps running out of every room that he's in. And then when they finally have the conversation, he is as remorseful as Craig I can be. I guess I'm recognizing that that's not his strong suit, but he's expressing remorse and also saying how much he liked her and how bummed he is that she's done with him.

01:01:11

She was like, Oh, I didn't know that about how much he liked her. It's like, Well, yeah, if you just spoke to him and said, I really didn't like what you did. And you could have ended it, but a conversation might have given you a new perspective. He could have been like, Oh, my God. Not only apologize for that, but express to you how much that he did like you. Maybe it could have ended differently because they are pretty cute together, but she It just ended. And I understand seeing that side of someone like, Oh, no, I will not have that in my life. And I probably feel the same. But I would at least tell them that, not have it be over and ruin it before you have the chance to maybe make amends. Plus, Craig has made amends with Sally. He apologized to her in Mexico. She accepted it really quickly, even though it was not the most amazing apology. But she was like, he just has this way of endearing it. I agree. No, I agree. But I felt like it should have been bigger apology. She also had to be like, I was upset.

And he was like, Oh. You weren't? What I knew. So then Craig shares with Sally that actually the whole season, him and Charlie were really serious. They talked every day. They were planning a trip together. He was going to meet her family. Charlie never told any of this to Sally, and Sally's so shocked and hurt by it. But it's like, why on earth would Charlie tell you any of this? Because you've only said negative things about Craig. Here's the crux, the issue of the season. It's like, Sally really liked Craig. She was spending all this time with him. And then when she finally lets him know, I like you, he was like, Oh, I don't like you like that. Wait, what is middle school? And instead, he likes Charlie, her best friend. And he asked out Charlie. And Charlie likes Greg, too, and wanted to go out with him. So what should Charlie have done? They both like Greg, and Greg chose Charlie. Sally feels very hurt by Greg not liking her. But in the way that he handled things, I don't really think that he ever led her on. They keep saying this- You can't be mad at someone for not liking you, by the way.

01:03:00

You could just be upset. I feel like if he did have ever was in... I feel like from the moment they started hanging out a lot, he never saw it as anything like that. At one point, he said she could sleep over, but that's because she texted, I wish I could stay. And he was like, You could have stayed. Not like, You could have stayed. And even Chad was like, Craig is a middle schooler when it comes to girls. Sleepover. He's not like... He's the last person to be disrespectful towards a woman or lead someone on. So maybe he knew that Sally had a crush on him, but he never was even exploring that. He was obviously just staying friends. But it's funny because Sally got like, chickens because he said she should get chicken. Oh, stop. And then at the end of the season, she reholed them. No. And thankfully, her family has a farm, so she just gave them to her parents. It was really funny. It's like classic girl. When your man says, Oh, you're like, I'm into basketball and you should wear jerseys. So she's really funny in that regard. But also, so not only do I think that Craig didn't lead her on, he obviously was a little too nice, but that's just Craig.

01:03:58

Literally Five minutes later, the minute that Austin and his girlfriend broke up, this season, she's all over Austin. She's in love with Austin. They had this final scene outside of Carolina Day party where he's leaving. And they hooked up in Mexico, even though he just broke up with his girlfriend. And she's very aggressive with him. She's like, I like you. I think you're so cute. Let's go, let's go. And he's like, You know what? That feels good for someone to really gas you up like that. And then in the last scene, she's standing on the porch of the house, and she looks so beautiful with the lights. She looks like a goddess because the house lights are lighting her up, and he's over there. You could see that he knows that she's so beautiful, and she's like, Take me with you. And I think that they're like an item. Oh. Yeah. I think it's working out. I saw what she said on a podcast that they're not together, but they love each other. They're best friends who are in love and hook up, and so they're together. So she's got to close that.

01:04:48

Oh, wait, you didn't choose this as a story. You see that Tom braided was spotted with Yael Cohen, Scooter Braun's ex.

01:04:52

Oh, I saw that he was spotted with Scooter Braun's ex, but I didn't know it was the ex.

01:04:56

Yeah, Yael. And I just want to say, taking out the Alex Earle thing, I ship. I think that's an amazing pair.

01:05:02

Very mature.

01:05:02

Very mature, age-appropriate. I think that they operate at the same level. She is a wealthy, wealthy woman. She's used to dating a very influential, high-power individual. Sorry for Alex. I don't know what that... But I think that this is actually a very good pair. It's the first time he's ever dated someone who's not 11. In her 30s, I think, she's insanely gorgeous.

01:05:24

I think it's a perfect pair. She's also parent. I think that's great. When I saw Tom with Scooter Braun, the ex, and I thought it was just some model. Yeah, no.

01:05:33

Like, Rando. No. Like, the wife.

01:05:35

Yeah. Oh, I love that.

01:05:37

I love that, too. I love that. I don't know what it means for Licks, but...

01:05:40

She'll be fine.

01:05:41

Yeah, she'll be fine.

01:05:42

Call Braxton. Call Brooks.

01:05:44

Call Brooks.

01:05:45

No, they're like Miranda and Casey. They are. So next week, Austin and Sally, yeah, they seem to be together. Craig has a lot to answer for. They're teasing it like he storms out of the reading and he's going to quit the show. He's not. Even though he's on watch Robin's Live with his best friend. He's like, I need the boys to stop fighting. It's so lame. It's so lame. That's for the girls. I need everyone to start moving forward, dating with intention. Austin and Sally, I completely endorse. So it's also just like, Sally, how can you be so heartbroken that Charlie went on a date with Craig when you in two seconds, you wanted Austin. Right. If Charlie liked him, too, their names are too similar.

01:06:19

I remember you telling me on her first season that she was into Shep, right?

01:06:23

She had hooked up with Shep, but I don't think she was into him. She had dated Taylor. The guy Taylor was dating at the time, Gastone.

01:06:32

I'm sorry, what?

01:06:33

Gastone.

01:06:38

That was perfect harmony. That's harmony.

01:06:41

I agree. I think we just leave it right there.

01:06:43
