I wish the people here could have seen Greg Cody during the break just smiling maniacally, watching himself in a video talking about in his backyard the PFPI, Moms Maniacs, all of the nonsense.

Speaker 600:02:13

Tatis Lamas.

Dan Le Batard00:02:13

Yeah, all of the nonsense that he talked about.

Speaker 600:02:16

Nonsense.

Dan Le Batard00:02:17

I mean, you were just radiant, staring at your own face and watching a video that you made and you knew what it was. I have a question for you, and I think Tony's going to be offended on my behalf. I again wrote something for Greg Cody's Substack last week. He waits a week to print things. Like, he just keeps it. I don't know what his printing schedule is, but he tells me to write for him, and then he just doesn't run it. And he waits forever and then gets mad when I write for other people and gets, you know, demands apologies and everything else.

But I worked in the magazine industry. I've never waited so long for things to get published. He, in the internet age, at the technologically advanced, problematic times of being an old man, cannot get things out on time.

Speaker 600:03:08

Okay.

Dan Le Batard00:03:08

With any expedience.

Speaker 600:03:09

Can I ask you one question, and please answer it with a yes or no. Is what you wrote timely?

Speaker 700:03:17

Yes. Yes.

Speaker 600:03:21

That's not you answering.

Speaker 700:03:24

Yes.

Speaker 600:03:24

No. That sounds like it could be.

Speaker 700:03:26

Yes.

Speaker 600:03:27

Is that me?

Dan Le Batard00:03:28

You'd get mad if I sent that to Tony right now and he put it on his.

Speaker 100:03:31

I put it up in 10 minutes.

Dan Le Batard00:03:32

I just don't understand.

Speaker 200:03:33

Nearly 40 million people.

Dan Le Batard00:03:36

It wouldn't be suitable for his thing, but it's suitable for mine. What are you talking about?

Speaker 800:03:41

It was a yes or no. He didn't answer.

Dan Le Batard00:03:43

He didn't answer.

Speaker 700:03:44

Yes.

Dan Le Batard00:03:45

Is it timely?

Speaker 700:03:46

Yes.

Speaker 800:03:47

You stay out of this, Roy.

Speaker 100:03:49

Also, what are you waiting for, though? Next question. What are you waiting for?

Speaker 800:03:52

It's a GD question.

Dan Le Batard00:03:53

Okay. My Substack regimen is full of timely stuff, okay? A column on UM, a column on the Dolphins, my quarterback rankings, this, that. I'm going to give Tony a paragraph until you post it. Like, a paragraph a day until you post it. I plan to post it 4th with.

Speaker 800:04:12

Do you plan on answering the yes or no question?

Dan Le Batard00:04:14

I already did. I will probably post it.

Speaker 800:04:16

You suck, Roy.

Dan Le Batard00:04:17

I will probably post it Monday. Probably.

Speaker 100:04:20

I can post it today.

Dan Le Batard00:04:21

That is insane. I wrote it last week. And it's not timely. It's going to be just as timely the minute I post it.

Speaker 600:04:30

What is it about?

Dan Le Batard00:04:30

Did you get that?

Speaker 600:04:31

What is it about? I'm kidding.

Dan Le Batard00:04:32

It's about what a shitty friend he is.

Speaker 100:04:34

That's not timely?

Dan Le Batard00:04:35

No. I'll be a shitty friend next week.

Speaker 800:04:37

It is fairly evergreen, yeah.

Dan Le Batard00:04:43

We did something unfair to Michelle Beatle. She's our celebrity prognosticator, because Cordell Stewart was on with us last week. We're going to have him do it, but he said he couldn't do it because he's a high school coach and he couldn't be doing that sort of stuff. And so we did it with Michelle Beatle, and she defeated Colin Cowherd. But she was a ringer. Because we usually like to go to people who are wildly random, who don't really necessarily know anything about football. She beat Colin Cowherd, and she is not being invited back to do this. And I imagine she's going to be mad about that and probably should be.

Speaker 100:05:18

Nah, I think she'll get over it.

Dan Le Batard00:05:19

She likes being on the show, and she won, and we just replaced her with a white man. And America said, "That's not what we're doing anymore." Last night, America said, "That's not how we're doing it anymore." Said it pretty loudly. Not how we're doing it.

Speaker 600:05:32

Wow.

Speaker 100:05:32

Well, not in Florida.

Dan Le Batard00:05:33

That's right. We're still in Florida. So we're going to go to Hank Azaria coming up in moments here as our celebrity prognosticator, because Michelle Beatle has been gonged. But I wanted to ask you guys something that I saw. Morning Joe has been using Pablo Torre a lot, and Morning Joe today went after Pat McAfee. Joe Scarborough went after Pat McAfee, and more broadly, went after college game day. There are a lot of people complaining about college game day, and I'm used to. People who don't like change, who like familiar things, who develop an intimate relationship with their entertainment products and a feel-good time, and Lee Corso.

I am used to people objecting to change in general. But the ratings are good on college game day. College game day is still a very good show. It is on televisions all over America before what feels like a religious Saturday now on our second biggest professional sport, college football. But I am surprised by the sheer number of people complaining about college game day when it had to undergo an evolution. They protected regally, wonderfully, their old mascot, and Lee Corso, as the last few years of his career, he was having a great deal of difficulty just with aging, and they were very gentle with him, and it was beautiful to see.

But in making everything about Pat McAfee, there's more complaining about that show than I think I've ever seen. And I do wonder, because I don't actually think Pat McAfee is very polarizing, but I do think what is polarizing is ESPN shoving one person in your face all the time, whoever that person is. People will object to that. And I think that's some of what's happening here. Even though they've reinvented that show in a way that's very hard to do, they've done it very well.

Nick Saban's very good at it, and they have at the centerpiece of their show somebody who is 50 years younger than their old mascot, Lee Corso. That's a very difficult transition to make, and they've made it without taking a ratings hit. Quite the opposite. So what are the complaints about?

Speaker 100:07:44

I think you hit it, that it's the usage of Pat McAfee. Like, I think if you had McAfee just on college game day, that was his gig. You see him once a week. I don't think anyone would be complaining about it. I think it has become very popular today to complain about Pat McAfee, and so that makes it really easy to complain about college game day. Is it really just that they give him the first five minutes of the show? Because I'm thinking outside of that first five minutes where they just, like, give it to him and he gets the whole crowd going, it's usually where he does, like, the chant and stuff.

Outside of that, the show is not that different to me. I'm on the side of it. It's still good for me. I think Pat is fine on the show. I think Nick Saban's great. I enjoy it on my set. I mean, I'm cleaning my house. It's still on my TV. Like, it has not changed for me at all.

Speaker 400:08:29

I'm not going to speak for other people. I'll just speak for me. And what feels very different to me is college game day felt like a celebration of the places that they were going. And while it's still that, it's not as much that. It's more of an airing of grievances, where it's pretty remarkable that the most likable guy to me is Nick Saban on the show. And.

Speaker 200:08:48

Reese Davis would like a word.

Speaker 400:08:49

Well, you know.

Speaker 600:08:51

What it does?

Speaker 400:08:52

I think Nick Saban's actually done a lot to help his charm here, but.

Speaker 100:08:55

He's really good.

Speaker 400:08:56

But I and Pat early on was about the energy, but it's kind of changed a little bit because of the sensitivity. For me, I am very confused. I know it's hard to just do the mascot head thing with Lee Corso, but I think it is a failure on production that what we have to start that show and at the end of the show is a Pat McAfee monologue. That's not exciting compared to what it was. You have Nick Saban there. Should he be the authority? You have a rotation of guests. You should create a top that mentality every week. What's the expectation? Set a budget aside for whatever special thing we can do for these pics.

Because a promo at the end, when that's the main problem that most people have in terms of feedback, is this guy talks too much. For that to be what follows up the most popular thing ever on TV, Lee Corso putting on a mascot head is a weird call.

Dan Le Batard00:09:40

They've got a monster success, though, transitionally in that field goal for money competition. That's a winner, and those are hard to make. It is hard to produce something that replaces the Lee Corso head that took a long time and many, many reps before they got us used to. This is the way that we're going to lead you into noon football. Is the very last thing you're going to see is this lovable old man putting on a mascot head.

The field goal kick for money is a winner, period.

Speaker 100:10:15

Yes. 100%. I like it. No matter the opinion on Pat McAfee, I think it's awesome. Everybody likes that stuff. And I know you have to defer to the talent that's on that stage. They probably don't want to do the Lee Corso thing. They have deep relationships. But someone needs to kick some ass. Someone needs to say what we're doing now. Because college game day building to an epic crescendo of a mascot head, no person is going to be mad being like, "Man, that's Lee's thing. You can't do that." Ultimately, people will get over it. And I think you need that one signature thing again.

Speaker 600:10:45

I'm obviously not as big a college game day consumer as you all are, so I ask this as a question, not as a statement. Is overexposure, has that caused Pat McAfee fatigue?

Dan Le Batard00:11:00

I mean, people turned on Stephen A. Smith for the same reason. They've made a movement to turn everything that they're doing into, "We're going to do it with a couple of people." And those are going to be the people that we saturate the market with. But I'm going to keep saying, the ratings are good. So complaining about your television is not necessarily bad, as long as people are feeling something. And villains or polarization isn't necessarily bad, as long as people are watching. So if the ratings are good, and I have trouble with ratings because they are more muddied than they've ever been, and a bunch of organizations don't tell the truth about their ratings.

But everyone says they haven't lost numbers, and this part's not up for debate. They had to update that show. And it's really hard to do when people are just used to the one thing that's been that way, but you got somebody in their late 80s who can't do it anymore, and you have to give him a graceful exit. So let's go to our celebrity prognosticator now, because Hank Azaria is with us. We miss him. We haven't seen him in a long time.

Do any of your many magical voices here before I play Caliendo for you as John Madden, before I bring in our Nick Cage John Madden in honor of the John Madden movie featuring Nick Cage? Do any of your characters, or would any of your characters like to give me some commentary on what happened in American politics last night?

Hank Azaria00:12:26

I would go into that first as we well, yeah, Clayton's the slapjob yoko has a take on it, you know. I done voted blue this time.

Dan Le Batard00:12:37

Really?

Hank Azaria00:12:38

All my life. Yeah, I've been voting red all my life on account of red is the good popsicle. And you know the blue one makes your tongue look like you died. But my boy W Junior, the second, he's a sophomore down at the community college. He says it ain't about popsicles at all. It's about the republic. But he also noted that two parties represent competing managerial factions of the same donor class, and that my material conditions are unlikely to improve under either.

So he's smart. He dropped out Tuesday.

The holidays should be about the people you love. Not mandatory work parties where I pretend to care about someone's kitchen renovation. Now's the time for those unexpected holiday side quests and enjoying a great-tasting light beer. Last year, mine was my cousin's garage, a Miller Lite, and a four-hour debate over the best Christmas movie. Dan would make it a segment, then argue the other side on purpose. Best night of the season. Tis Miller time! In that garage, I felt great. I took a sip. I looked around and thought, "Yeah, this was the right call."

Miller Lite is a taste you know you can depend on. Brewed for taste, it just hits different. The original light beer since 1975 and still iconic more than 50 years later. Miller Lite is great taste done right. Go to millerlite.com/dan to find delivery options near you. Or you can pick up some Miller Lite pretty much anywhere they sell beer. Tis Miller time! Celebrate responsibly. Miller Brewing Company, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, 96 calories and 3.2 carbs per 12 ounces. A season of chasing.

Speaker 1100:15:10

Dan Le Batard.

Speaker 1200:15:11

This is the quickest it goes. Hey, this is the quickest it goes.

Speaker 1300:15:15

Great cutie.

Speaker 1200:15:16

Everybody, this is the quickest it goes.

Speaker 1300:15:19

Yeah.

Speaker 1200:15:20

This is the Dan Le Batard Show.

Dan Le Batard00:15:33

Any thoughts on how the people of Florida decided to, you know, just honor you? Any thoughts on the fact that the people who don't have college education turned on Trump?

Hank Azaria00:15:44

Well, let's see. Let's see what else I wrote about this thing. You know, maybe it has something to do with, you know, all them years we voted red because we thought red meant Dan Lernhart, you know, and blue meant the other fella. And turns out it's a system of government. Yeah.

Dan Le Batard00:16:11

I don't believe you answered my question at all. You just went to your written material.

Hank Azaria00:16:15

I just went with what I wrote, yeah.

Dan Le Batard00:16:17

You didn't have very much left.

Hank Azaria00:16:19

I don't like NASCAR in Florida. Come on, dude.

Dan Le Batard00:16:21

Are you ready to pick some games? Do you want to pick some games as your characters? Do you want to do it that way?

Hank Azaria00:16:26

Yeah, let's toss it to some characters for the game picks.

Dan Le Batard00:16:30

All right, give me the open.

Speaker 1200:16:32

And now it is time for celebrity prognosticator. Let's win some money.

Dan Le Batard00:16:38

Hank has done everything in entertainment. We have never had him around anything so lo-fi as that music. It's simply the least amount of money that has ever been spent to celebrate Hank Azaria. Who's picking the Jets-Chiefs game?

Hank Azaria00:16:54

Let's go with Mo to buy 10 you on this one, Dan.

Dan Le Batard00:16:57

All right. So who does Mo like? The Jets are at the Chiefs, and the Chiefs are a 9-and-a-half-point favorite.

Hank Azaria00:17:03

Yeah, you got to go Chiefs because I got going Chiefs. I got a drink named after the Jets. It's three kinds of nothing. It's nothing in a glass, and then I put a little umbrella on it so, you know, Jet fans feel better about it. So I'm going Chiefs.

Dan Le Batard00:17:19

The Bengals are at the Falcons, and the Falcons are a three-point underdog at home. Who's picking this game for us?

Hank Azaria00:17:27

This is Agador from the Berkays going to pick this then. This is the early game. 9:30 is that's too early. That's not a sport. That's like brunch with injuries, you know? So I don't know. Cincinnati, I think, because Atlanta don't score anything. You can't win if you don't score points.

Dan Le Batard00:17:53

Lions at Dolphins. The Dolphins are a seven-point underdog at home. Who's picking this game for us?

Hank Azaria00:17:59

This is Jim Brackmeier. I'm going Miami here. You know, Detroit wins by four every week forever. It is not beautiful. It is not thrilling. It's a man eating the same sandwich for nine consecutive months and telling you that he likes it. So let's Miami will cover there.

Dan Le Batard00:18:18

The Broncos are at the Panthers. The Panthers are a lot of homedogs this week. The Panthers are two-and-a-half-point underdog at home. Who you got?

Hank Azaria00:18:26

Let's go back to Mo for this one. I call this one the who cares ball, all right? Broncos and Panthers, that's like a horsey and a kitty. It's not a football game. It's a petting zoo with concussion protocol. You know, Denver, barely. I don't care. I'm actually going with I don't care. I don't care a choice. Would that beat Colin Coward?

Dan Le Batard00:18:45

We're beating Colin Coward this season. We are 23-15 and 2. He is 20-17 and 3. That is your pick, though. You picked the Broncos. That's it. You got to pick one.

Hank Azaria00:18:55

Yeah, I'm going Broncos there, yeah.

Dan Le Batard00:18:57

Packers at Pats. The Pats are a three-point favorite at home. Who's picking the game, and who does he have?

Hank Azaria00:19:05

It's Chief Wiggum. Please, Chief Wiggum. I got no read on this one at all, Dan, which, I'm being honest, is true of most of my cases. So I'm going Packers because I can't do anything pro New England except voting, hoping for their demise. So let's go Packers, yeah.

Dan Le Batard00:19:24

All right. I want you as the greatest voice actor of our generation to listen here to a little bit of Frank Caliendo. I believe this was Zazlo's idea. He was saying that Nicolas Cage should not play John Madden in his own voice because he cannot and does not sound like John Madden. And he was saying that Frank Caliendo, who does an exceptional Madden, would do a better job. And then Caliendo did indeed do that. So let's listen to that, play it for Hank, and get his assessment.

Hank Azaria00:19:54

Where did he get that?

Speaker 1300:19:55

You got your offensive guys over here, and you got your defensive guys up here.

Speaker 1400:19:59

You got to take it away from him. You got to take it away from him.

Speaker 1300:20:02

And all these guys were running around in circles, apparently, except for that guy, and maybe that guy, and that guy, and that guy. They're still in the same place while all this stuff is going on that doesn't really make any sense.

Dan Le Batard00:20:12

Nick Cage has gained some weight for the role, right? Nick Cage looks the part a little bit with whatever it is that they're doing. Are you excited at all about this movie? Are you someone who appreciates the voice work of others?

Hank Azaria00:20:24

Oh, yes. I'm a huge Caliendo fan. His Madden is a true delight. It has been for a long time. I love Nick Cage too, you know. He takes big swings, really big swings. And often they work. Sometimes they don't. But he's always really going for them. Did you see him in Daddy Long Legs? Did you see this thing?

Dan Le Batard00:20:45

I have not.

Speaker 1400:20:45

I did.

Dan Le Batard00:20:47

Oof.

Speaker 1400:20:48

Scary?

Dan Le Batard00:20:48

Ooh.

Speaker 1400:20:49

Yeah, it's a little scary.

Hank Azaria00:20:50

It's scary. And please see it. The character he plays in that is maybe the most bizarre ever put on film, in a good way.

Dan Le Batard00:20:58

Well, you're saying it's the most bizarre of his characters because all he does is play bizarre characters.

Speaker 1400:21:04

You ever watch Snake Eyes?

Hank Azaria00:21:05

Perhaps of all time. Snake Eyes is pretty amazing too. But no. Do you watch these modern horror films like Daddy Long Legs? A bunch of Obsession?

Dan Le Batard00:21:16

I don't love horror, but yeah, I've seen Obsession. And I am interested, actually, in Nick Cage in that movie because it seems like it is legitimately scary.

Speaker 1400:21:26

It's really strange. I would have a hard time, Hank, describing Nicolas Cage's character there in that movie even.

Hank Azaria00:21:33

Yes, defies explanation.

Speaker 1400:21:36

So do you think at first do you think you're in medieval times?

Hank Azaria00:21:39

No, no. You know. Or 30s, they have a knack for making disturbing cinema. I mean, truly unsettling. Back rooms and barbarian. You ever seen Barbarian?

Speaker 1400:21:53

That's a good movie.

Dan Le Batard00:21:54

Yeah, it is good.

Hank Azaria00:21:55

It's a great movie, but it's really disturbing.

Dan Le Batard00:21:58

Yeah, that's.

Hank Azaria00:21:58

Not that Madden would be that way.

Dan Le Batard00:21:59

That's what horror is, Frank.

Hank Azaria00:22:01

Yeah, but they have redefined it, in my opinion. You know, they've gone to a new level. All that Ari Aster stuff, you know, it's really, really weird.

Dan Le Batard00:22:10

Yeah, that's what horror is.

Hank Azaria00:22:11

All right, you know, Mr. Cynical. That's what horror is. The sports is guys trying to win. That's all it is.

Dan Le Batard00:22:16

I mean, but you're surprised that horror is horrifying?

Hank Azaria00:22:19

Well, for a while, their horror was getting a little hack-kneed. It was just either like slash it up or, you know, some possession thing. There have been a few like you ever seen I think the scariest movie of all time might be that Tony Collette.

Dan Le Batard00:22:34

Oh, Hereditary or is? Hereditary. Heredity. Which is it, Hereditary or Heredity?

Hank Azaria00:22:38

I think it's Hereditary.

Dan Le Batard00:22:40

Yeah, it's horrifying. Tor.

Hank Azaria00:22:41

This the horror genre has come up a level or three in the last.

Speaker 1400:22:47

No, I like what we're doing here. Hank, you ever seen Weapons?

Hank Azaria00:22:50

Sure.

Dan Le Batard00:22:52

That's good.

Speaker 1400:22:53

Have you ever seen Obsession?

Dan Le Batard00:22:55

Well, you just said that.

Hank Azaria00:22:55

Oh, come on.

Dan Le Batard00:22:56

He just mentioned Obsession.

Speaker 1400:22:58

Okay, well, I want to make sure he's seen these movies.

Dan Le Batard00:23:00

Okay, you know what? I'm going to have to.

Hank Azaria00:23:02

Are you complaining about the content I'm providing?

Speaker 1400:23:06

Might have been only two minutes more not listening to his show. He's been bad today. Zaz. I think he.

Dan Le Batard00:23:14

Not you, Zaz.

Speaker 1400:23:15

I think he did that on purpose. Me, please show yourself out.

Hank Azaria00:23:18

I think he did it on purpose. He was parodying my concept.

Dan Le Batard00:23:22

You can only pick one Nicolas Cage movie for all time. What's the one that you're picking? If you only get to pick one Nick Cage movie. Mekwowe.

Speaker 1400:23:31

Raising Arizona.

Hank Azaria00:23:33

Ooh, that was a good one. Last one I got. It's a good one. It's a good one. I think his best performance might have been Leaving Las Vegas. Did he win an Oscar for that? I think he did.

Dan Le Batard00:23:41

I think he did, yes. I don't know how many has he won many more Oscars than that? Is that the only one he has won? Because I'm trying to think here.

Speaker 1300:23:50

National Treasure too.

Hank Azaria00:23:53

National Treasure. My Nicolas Cage tends to slip into Adam West. That's a problem.

Dan Le Batard00:24:01

Let's hear some Nicolas Cage, if you don't mind.

Hank Azaria00:24:04

Promote him.

Dan Le Batard00:24:05

Promote your new movie, Behemoth.

Hank Azaria00:24:06

I did him for Behemoth is wonderful. I play Pedro Pascal's dad. It slips into Adam West. It's a problem. And then my Adam West slips into Captain Kirk. This is a very difficult problem for me, Dan.

Dan Le Batard00:24:24

I did. I put you in a bad spot. Behemoth alongside Pedro Pascal, as he mentioned, and Olivia Wilde. It's out December 4th. That seems exciting, Hank, because you are with two people there that you obviously have been at the top of the industry for a long time. But those two people get to make whatever choices they want right now.

Hank Azaria00:24:43

The pinnacle, Dan. Yeah, no, I was Tony Gilroy, who wrote and directed I'm a big fan of. He did I'm sorry, can I mention more entertainment? I feel self-conscious now. He did Rogue One, and he did Andor. I'm a Star Wars fan, and I think those are the only really great Star Wars thing. Well, The Mandalorian was good too. But anyway, Tony Gilroy is amazing. Michael Clayton, and I was happy to be part of that, yeah.

Speaker 1400:25:09

Hank, have you seen Other Mommy?

Hank Azaria00:25:11

Oh, boy. See, I know you're not being sincere. You're just making fun of that I was mentioning movies.

Speaker 1400:25:18

I love Other Mommy.

Hank Azaria00:25:19

I heard Other Mommy was not very good.

Speaker 1400:25:21

All right.

Hank Azaria00:25:22

Did you see it?

Speaker 1400:25:23

No.

Hank Azaria00:25:24

I heard it wasn't so good.

Speaker 1400:25:25

I heard it wasn't good. Zaz, why are you being a jerk?

Dan Le Batard00:25:27

Why am I being a jerk?

Speaker 1400:25:28

You've been bad today.

Dan Le Batard00:25:29

I'm talking about horror movies.

Speaker 1400:25:29

If I were Hank before, if I were Hank, I wouldn't like you. I love Other Mommy. Weird introduction.

Hank Azaria00:25:33

Yeah, unlikable. No, I thought if you're being sincere, I'm with you, but I thought you were making fun of the fact that I was just mentioning movies to Dan.

Speaker 1400:25:40

He does kind of talk like an asshole. I get where you're coming from. That's just how he talks.

Dan Le Batard00:25:43

Yeah, he didn't do weapons.

Speaker 1400:25:45

Yeah, he didn't do it right. Well, because I don't want to sound like an asshole. I'm asking to have a conversation.

Hank Azaria00:25:50

You're failing at that.

Speaker 1400:25:51

Nice hat.

Hank Azaria00:25:53

It's okay. I'm all right. I'm okay.

Dan Le Batard00:25:55

Hank, good seeing you. Always nice seeing you. I hope you win, and I hope that you're back next week because you have won. Thank you for making the time for us, as always.

Hank Azaria00:26:04

It's my pleasure, Dan. Go blue, and I don't mean Michigan.

Dan Le Batard00:26:07

Do you hate Zaz? Do you leave here with an uncomfortable feeling about Zaz being here?

Hank Azaria00:26:13

No, I like Zaz, the content he's created in your forum. And I'm asking you honestly because I have no hard feelings. But were you parodying me, or were you genuinely asking if I'd seen Madden?

Speaker 1400:26:26

Hank, everyone on this show knows.

Hank Azaria00:26:28

He's mocking.

Speaker 1400:26:29

I love horror movies. Me and my boys, we go to the theater and see all the horror movies. I love horror movies.

Hank Azaria00:26:34

That was a non-denial denial.

Speaker 1400:26:36

This is awkward. This is getting uncomfortable.

Hank Azaria00:26:38

See you later, Hank. Good seeing you, as always. Thank you.

Dan Le Batard.

Speaker 1700:28:05

Hello. This is not Greg Cody.

Speaker 1400:28:08

Greg Cody.

Speaker 1700:28:09

That kind of thing. And you know it.

Speaker 1400:28:15

This is the Dan Le Batard Show.

Mike Ryan00:28:25

I can break things up and unleash a brand new impression that I've been working on all weekend. It's Nick Cage as Sean Madden.

Speaker 1400:28:33

Whoa.

Mike Ryan00:28:34

Would you like to see it?

Speaker 1400:28:35

Wow.

Dan Le Batard00:28:36

Should we get you the pillow, or you don't need the pillow? You don't need the pillow?

Mike Ryan00:28:39

I do need.

Dan Le Batard00:28:40

Need a football play.

Mike Ryan00:28:41

All right. Let's go to school. Right. So we're here, right? You're here. They're here. We're all here, right? We're here. We're here. And this route, it's hot, right? This route right here, it's a hot, hot route over here, right? And this guy here will come over here, you know? And that's school.

Hank Azaria00:29:11

Draw a dick.

Mike Ryan00:29:11

Yeah, he does. He does. He does. Michael.

Speaker 1400:29:15

There you go.

Mike Ryan00:29:15

Michael. Michael. Michael.

Dan Le Batard00:29:21

Seen. Roy, what did you find for us on the Nicolas Cage.

Hank Azaria00:29:26

Curtie?

Dan Le Batard00:29:27

The things that he has won for his film accomplishments?

Speaker 1900:29:31

He was nominated twice. He was nominated for Adaptation, and he won for Leaving Las Vegas.

Speaker 2000:29:37

Clutch too.

Dan Le Batard00:29:38

I think the character has legs. If you want to.

Speaker 2000:29:41

Long legs.

Dan Le Batard00:29:42

Keep working on Nicolas Cage as John Madden, I think that that's a character that we want to bring to life around here.

Speaker 1400:29:50

Send Hank a text. Ask him if he's seen Talk to Me.

Dan Le Batard00:29:52

Is Corin Hackie still available, or has he quit? Because Corin Hackie has to be very.

Speaker 1400:29:56

He wasn't thorough with the football.

Dan Le Batard00:29:57

He's got to be very tired at this point. What he's doing is very difficult, and he's been doing it on Instagram Live nonstop for about three hours. And if you weren't watching this last night, because I was watching Corin Hackie cam. Are you guys familiar with what Corin Hackie cam is? It's him nonstop, even when they're not going to him. So he's behaving as if he's not on television, which includes also blowing his nose because he's not technically on television.

Speaker 2000:30:28

2024, that when you look at the way that things are ultimately going to be controlled. Throughout the rest of this college football playoff, you see the early voting coming in here. And what it makes you realize is that teams 20 through 24 hold the cards to decrease these margins that exist amongst the teams that will be playoff eligible. Yes, 14 through 19 might be able to chase. But when you look at teams like the University of Southern California.

Hank Azaria00:30:56

Yeah, 3 straight out.

Speaker 2000:30:57

The University of South Carolina.

Hank Azaria00:30:58

Talking about all of the college football things.

Speaker 1400:31:01

You were on Corin Hackie cam. I was locked in on Tapper. He was just in his bag. He was just like, "All right, they need to flip four Senate seats. Right now, Democrats are leading in 64. And we look over here, Republicans leading in two."

Mike Ryan00:31:14

I was so impressed.

Speaker 1400:31:15

I don't know math, but 62 better than two.

Mike Ryan00:31:17

Dude, that CNN production was awesome. That might have been like their parting shot, considering the changes that are probably coming to that network. But I thought that the level of production that they did, it was like one simultaneous shot. They didn't really cut cameras. One guy would walk to one station, and it was just like the Avengers assembling.

Speaker 1400:31:34

You're watching Tapper, and you see what's his name in the background on his phone, just like, "Ooh, what's he doing back there?"

Mike Ryan00:31:40

It was awesome. I haven't seen election coverage quite like that. Walking talks, going station to station. Now, they did unveil their statisticians of people that crunch the numbers to give them the results, and those people typically stayed behind the camera. And I think we realize why now. They weren't exactly super charismatic, but the ambition and the execution was awesome.

Dan Le Batard00:32:00

Greg Cody, we lost him as soon as we played the PFPI video that he was staring at, and we came close to losing him just with all the proclamation stuff. I saw him get mad at you, Chris, during the break. What happened there? Because your father expects you to be available whenever he feels like it. He's just gotten very used to, "I need Chris whenever I need him," and he needs to stop doing whatever it is that's happening in his life to make sure that he's producing me.

Speaker 1400:32:30

He really wants me there, and I'm like, "Oh, this is heartfelt. A nice thing that's happened." He just wants, "I need someone to videotape it." He doesn't want me there as his son. He's like, "You can get someone from the Le Batard Show to do it if they " I just need it videotaped.

Hank Azaria00:32:43

I'm just saying.

Speaker 1400:32:44

Admit it. You don't want me there as your son. You want me there to videotape. Do you want me there if I don't do any content?

Hank Azaria00:32:50

Well, why would you be? It had to be said.

Speaker 1400:32:52

Because you're my dad, and it's a cool moment.

Hank Azaria00:32:53

Okay. So enjoy it, and I'll have your wife take the video. Or my wife. Somebody's wife. Your wife won't be there. Isn't your wife?

Speaker 1400:33:00

Oh, she is going. My wife is going.

Hank Azaria00:33:01

Is she? Yes.

Dan Le Batard00:33:02

Haven't you been taking care of your wife? She needs to be.

Hank Azaria00:33:04

Oh, I know. Yeah. She just had cataract surgery.

Speaker 1400:33:07

His wife, not mine.

Hank Azaria00:33:08

Right. She's fine. Looking out of one eye.

Dan Le Batard00:33:11

She just had cataract surgery.

Speaker 1400:33:13

That's why he wasn't here yesterday.

Dan Le Batard00:33:14

I want her to go to your plantation proclamation.

Hank Azaria00:33:16

You'll get that right.

Speaker 1400:33:17

I don't like the way you said that.

Hank Azaria00:33:19

What?

Speaker 1400:33:19

Yes.

Dan Le Batard00:33:20

It's factually accurate what I'm saying. Tonight, he's got a plantation proclamation.

Speaker 2000:33:25

I do declare. I do believe Dan Le Batard.

Dan Le Batard00:33:29

He's going to a city commission meeting.

Hank Azaria00:33:36

Yes, I am. I don't know why you're making fun of the name of my city.

Dan Le Batard00:33:39

Can we get a.

Hank Azaria00:33:40

I didn't name it.

Dan Le Batard00:33:40

Can we get an exclusive.

Speaker 1400:33:42

I want to apologize for what I just.

Dan Le Batard00:33:43

Can we get an exclusive look, please? Feel free to apologize.

Speaker 1400:33:47

Feel awful.

Dan Le Batard00:33:47

When I'm not talking. Rich from you today.

Mike Ryan00:33:54

You want to set up another Hank Azaria impression?

Speaker 1400:33:56

Cut him off.

Hank Azaria00:33:59

Yes.

Dan Le Batard00:34:00

The proclamation that you're getting a lifetime achievement award for. Do you know what it is? Have you seen a certificate?

Hank Azaria00:34:09

I have not.

Dan Le Batard00:34:09

Have you seen a key? Have you been given any information on why it is and how it is that you're being celebrated? Because I am told that we have some of the things that you're being celebrated for, and I'm wondering if before the end of the show, we can reveal those to Greg Cody so that he has a working idea of what it is that he's going to be celebrated for.

Hank Azaria00:34:32

Yeah. No, I have no idea. I assume they're marking favorably my long career with the Miami Herald, but I could be wrong. Maybe they're naming me Neighbor of the Year for my lawn upkeep. I don't know.

Dan Le Batard00:34:44

So you got burps. You got rotten feet have been celebrated. Being laid off is being.

Speaker 1400:34:50

That would be a funny thing to celebrate.

Dan Le Batard00:34:52

Is being celebrated.

Speaker 1400:34:54

Homorism.

Dan Le Batard00:34:54

General homorism is being celebrated. Narcissism. Nine beers a day, which I think is low, frankly. I think that's a number.

Hank Azaria00:35:03

It's average, yeah.

Dan Le Batard00:35:04

General self-involvement is being celebrated. Yeah. So congratulations to.

Hank Azaria00:35:10

Plug in this podcast, the Greg Cody Show.

Speaker 1400:35:12

You have to plug it at the proclamation, right?

Hank Azaria00:35:15

I might. Yeah, sure. I might. Substack as well. My Substack, my Greg Cody Show. What? No, I will.

Dan Le Batard00:35:22

The Greg Cody Show featuring Greg Cody.

Hank Azaria00:35:24

With.

Dan Le Batard00:35:25

Features Peter King this week. You got Peter King. What did you get out of Peter King?

Hank Azaria00:35:30

I made Peter King blush. He actually said to me at one point, "Oh, you see me blushing, Cody?" Didn't he?

Speaker 1400:35:38

Yeah, because you called him the greatest writer of all time, or something.

Hank Azaria00:35:41

No, what I did was, and I mean this, I said, "An NFL book written by Peter King is like a book on the afterlife written by God himself." And that made him blush.

Speaker 1400:35:53

They were just playing ping-pong with compliments the whole time. Like, "No, your career was great. No, your career was great. You were the man."

Hank Azaria00:35:59

Thank you, Peter. No, it was a great interview. I had a lot of fun. He told me stuff that I had no idea about, such as John Madden and Yoko Ono were best buddies, close friends. I had no idea about that. John Madden loved wildflowers. Could identify them. So it's a great interview.

Speaker 1400:36:19

So interesting. I fell asleep saying it. Do you think Hank is seen 28 days later?

Dan Le Batard00:36:23

So speaking of people who have had great careers, we have not talked about a story that I don't think a lot of people are talking about in sports, but I found it both curious and odd and wonder if you guys have any interest in this story. Jorge Posada has said that he does not feel welcome with the Yankees. Doesn't go around the stadium, doesn't go around the team, doesn't go around spring training. He won five championships with the Yankees. I don't believe they've won any since he left there.

They haven't won in 17 or 18 years. And now Milwaukee manager Pat Murphy, I don't know if you guys saw this, but he was caught on a live mic saying that horseshit Yankees team to Jake Bowers, and now he's had to walk that back and apologize and say that he regrets saying that near a live mic. He doesn't regret feeling that way because that's an honor.

Speaker 1400:37:17

Or saying it.

Dan Le Batard00:37:17

Well, no, he regrets saying it.

Speaker 1400:37:18

In front of a hot mic.

Dan Le Batard00:37:19

He regrets that it was heard. He doesn't regret saying it to Jake Bowers. He regrets that it was heard by us, and now he's got one of those problems that you don't want, which is you've disrespected an opponent, and you've been somebody who sounds like he's disrespectful. But when Jorge Posada says he doesn't feel welcome around the New York Yankees, that he doesn't go back because they don't want him there, it makes me wonder, what's the other side to this story?

Speaker 1400:37:50

Did he mention at all what that's based on? What kind of interactions he's had that makes him feel that way?

Dan Le Batard00:37:54

Just a coldness that he just doesn't feel like they want him around. And again, he won five championships there, and usually that I mean, one of those gets lifetime royalty around when you're a centerpiece like that. When you think of those teams, you think of Jeter, him, and Mariano Rivera, and Bernie Williams. The center of that team was unlike most Yankee teams in that it's all homegrown. They saw all of those guys sort of come up through the entirety of the system.

It wasn't free agents. It's somebody whose entire life. You saw him from a young person to an old person, and now he's not welcome back. I don't get what would have to be the case for somebody with that many medals on the resume to not feel welcome back and to say it publicly. Because it's one thing to just feel that way, but now to curry the public support of saying it out loud so that people with the Yankee fan base can get mad at the organization on your behalf because it feels disrespectful to not have a champion feel welcome.

Usually, when I think of anybody who has won a championship in this town, they can walk around the quarters of the place like they own it. If you win one championship, not five.

Hank Azaria00:39:19

That's up to the Yankees now. The ball is in their court, proverbially. That's up to the Yankees now to give the reason for the estrangement and to end it. Because Posada has put it out there, "Look, we're at odds. There's discord here, but what's the reason for it?" Somebody with the Yankees needs to explain that.

Speaker 1400:39:36

This feels like a guy who wants to be the Yankees manager, just planting some anti-Aaron Boone seeds.

Hank Azaria00:39:40

Yeah. I don't feel comfortable there. He doesn't make me feel welcome. Because the fans are already kind of out on Aaron Boone. So I feel like this is a guy who gets.

Dan Le Batard00:39:48

You know what? That's not that crazy.

Hank Azaria00:39:49

I could see Jorge being the next manager down the road.

Dan Le Batard00:39:52

You're dialed into the Yankees.

Hank Azaria00:39:53

Yeah, I'm a big Yankee fan. That's what we're talking about. He said wearing a Tigers cap.

Dan Le Batard00:39:59

The Yankee fan base is fed up with the idea that they haven't had a Brian Cashman change in 17 years while not winning a championship, and that Aaron Boone has been there for a long time. But if you watch the difference this year between just the rays in the Yankees, never mind the Brewers and the Yankees, you know that that's not a problem of manager. That's not what the issue is there with the Yankees. But Jorge Posada, you think that's him publicly angling for putting pressure on what's that guy won?

And Aaron Boone did hit one of the most famous home runs in Yankee history. What's that guy won compared to me, though? There aren't a lot of people in the world, still living, who have the resume with the Yankees where they could say, "I won five of those things with that team."

Speaker 1400:40:50

Because they've brought Jorge back in the past for the Jeter Day and the Andy Pettitt. So he has been back in years past. I just feel like this is more of a Aaron Boone and Jorge Posada tension than it is Jorge Posada and the Yankees.

Dan Le Batard00:41:02

Greg, you seem to have faded off on the entirety of the show. Are you just thinking about your proclamation and your big nighttime?

Hank Azaria00:41:08

No, my Posada talk was exterminated there. I said what I said about Posada. I don't care about him enough to further elaborate, quite frankly.

Dan Le Batard00:41:19

Not worth your time.

Hank Azaria00:41:20

It's not worth my time. I do wish him well, and I think it's odd what's going on, and I tend to think it's more than just a rivalry between him and the current manager. I think.

Dan Le Batard00:41:29

But this isn't someone who takes up space in your head.

Hank Azaria00:41:32

There's something else going there. There's something else going on.

Dan Le Batard00:41:36

It's unbelievable.

Hank Azaria00:41:37

Right?

Dan Le Batard00:41:38

Roy, did you cut up the sound? I don't think we'll have it now, but I do want to get the sound of Greg Cody yammering sounds from earlier in the show where he went. It felt like a full seven seconds without getting anything out of his mouth that was intelligible. It was just noisy gibberish on I want to get this to begin the postgame show, please, of Greg Cody just not making any sense.
