Zaz, give me some assistance here because I'm not great with boundaries. Yesterday Tony was talking about how sad college football this weekend, and yesterday Mike Ryan comes starts texting about Amir. Sears and won't shut up about this high school kid here locally. And then today greets me with the hot breath of, I need the studio for 12 hours today. And I'm like, I can't. What are you talking about? He's like, I need to do Cain's Insight from here. And he brings me this guy, D-Money, who's already here for something that's hours from now. Like, and I don't— I can't handle the way Mike Ryan is about Cain's Insight.
And his shirt is tucked in.
And the hurricane season starting. And, and Tony was saying that the college football season was set. It was about Bill Belichick, 15-10, tricking a college kid into jumping offsides. The old veteran, the old legend tricked some kid. It felt, you know, like abuse. It felt abusive, him using his legendary status to do that to some kid from TCU.
Miami's already got the toughest strength of schedule in the nation. Their opponents went 3-0.
I love the idea of Belichick winning 6 Super Bowls. Can't do it anymore. Let's go trick college kids.
So the previous great Miami player that everyone was talking about—
Malachi.
I thought that that's who they were going to go with. That's who we were going to be excited about. But Mike is now scouting Columbus, wandering around their weight room, doing weird things around high school kids when— I don't like the phrasing of that, but that's what's happening. His hyperventilation around the best player in the country possibly playing both ways for the Hurricanes next season and starting immediately as a true freshman.
But when are we going to get a quarterback to play both ways? That's the question.
That's not the question.
No one's asking that question. It's being asked. When it comes to Amir Sears, I'm super excited. I've seen all the highlights. I think he's gonna play right away, but I'm not the expert. Luckily, D-Money is here 6 hours before he's supposed to be.
Crunch it, film!
But what do you mean supposed to be? What are you guys doing? You asked me for the studio for 12 hours today, and I said because I'm not good at boundaries.
You have to leave.
That's a prerequisite.
You're not invited, oddly enough.
You cannot be anywhere near this brand.
Yeah, it's quite a situation that we have found ourselves in, in regards to you.
Thank you for the keys. Please show yourself out.
What do you mean in regards to me? What's the problem with me?
Well, people don't like you.
Yeah, they don't like you. So for the first year, the hurricane special marathon that we do to kick off every Miami hurricane season— we've done this now 3 straight years— for the first time ever, it's gonna be simulcast here, not just on official Canes Insights YouTube, but youtube.com/@Le Batard Show. I mean, we've got this studio space free of charge. Thank you very much, Dan.
When?
Today!
1 to 6 PM. Yeah, right after the show, a little bit of a break as we change crews and we hit the ground running. 5 straight hours, no breaks. Incredible guests, and you cannot be one of them.
I'm not invited?
This is awkward.
It's a very awkward situation.
I didn't know this. Mike brought it up on Zaslow Show 2.0 yesterday. I was very taken aback.
I, I love you, Dan. You've been so great to me, so gracious with this studio space. But I gotta take care of my Kane's Insight fan base. If you're on this show, they hate you.
Why do they hate me?
Because they— it's not because they hate you.
Mike, he doesn't know why they hate you.
No, no, he knows exactly why.
I don't know why they hate me.
You haven't been told to your face by Canes fans walking to the stadium over the illustrious 3 decades you've covered this program why they hate you? You know, you've had the wanted posters. You know exactly why they hate you.
I feel like I should be on to talk about how it is that they've let go of Cam Vaughn and 4 players since Cam Vaughn knows what he did.
There he is.
He knows what he did?
It's time to put on a suit and roll out the carpet. Crank up the tube and gather near. It's the best time of the year, so keep your dial right there. It's me and you and me again at the Suez. The greatest of life's mistakes and best revelations. And so much more. Brought to you by the greatest beer. It's the best time of the year, so keep your dial right here. It's me and you and me again at the sewees. And every day you're gonna go to a website.
.com.
To vote on the sounds that brought you cheer. 'Cause it's the best time of the year. So keep your dial right here. It's me. It's me again and you. It's me again and it's you. It's me and you and me again at the Sioux Eve. That kind of thing.
We need We need to get some better music.
What are you talking about?
Come on.
This is perfect music because you hear it, everybody knows what it means.
Greg Cody is not with us today. He's deep into the drink package on a cruise to Key West and Bimini, which, you know, you don't need a boat to get there. He just wants something that floats that doesn't put him behind the wheel so he can drink all day. He is not with us this week.
How many drinks do you need to consume in the day for the drink package to feel like, okay, I, I 13, but who's counting?
He absolutely does it. I know the number.
He's there already.
He does it correctly. Earlene has betrayed him. His wife has betrayed him. We now have a photo because a lot of people didn't believe us when we said that he sleeps crisscross applesauce, and his wife has betrayed him by taking a photo. I've never heard of anyone sleeping this way, looking this way, and this is just a straight betrayal from his wife. He did not—
She's a genie.
Thick ankles.
He did not want us. He didn't. He yelled at his son and said, you are not to run this. And we told him it's a punishment for not being here during Sui's week. And we got 3 Sui's today. One of them is Best Back in My Day, but he only did 3 of them. Like he said he was gonna do them every month and he's only done 3 of them. So we're selecting from among 3. And it reminds me of the time when I was a child, when my dog, Adashin, when I was a kid, won or finished in second place longest ears contest in the neighborhood. Second to a rabbit, and there were only 2 contestants.
Yep, that's a problem.
Greg Cody has only 3 back in my days. Meanwhile, before we get to the Suez, uh, D-Money is here. Cane's Insight is going to take you on our YouTube channel and of course on Cane's Insight. They're going to take you on a wild ride for 5 straight hours, no commercials, great guests, get you ready for the University of Miami football season. But I don't understand why D-Money is already here. It's 9 o'clock in the morning, you guys aren't starting till 1 o'clock, and that guy, I saw him when I walked past him, and His teeth are gleaming like they're sparkling because he is just ready for 1 o'clock.
I think he's here exactly for this. The hopes that he could get you to notice him and his teeth.
How could I not notice him? He came in and he was glowing because the hurricane season is about to start and it seems like everyone has forgotten every question that they used to have about Mario Cristobal. And this ship is sailing.
We're going to help you out. We're going to help you out. We're going to call him out as to why you're not invited to Hurricane 2026. That right there, that's an example. That right there. This is a pep rally. This is all positivity. We are in the tank for the Canes. This is made for Canes fans. And Dan, you are not made for Canes fans.
You're not made for Canes fans.
You're made for the naysayers.
Made for the naysayers.
Okay, I'm not saying nay to this hurricane season. I'm saying—
Look at him out there, he's glowing.
I mean, he looks like television. He really does. He's already gotten into the snacks. He'll fit right in around here.
He knows to smile when the camera cuts to him.
So that's it.
He's here also in case you say the name Amir Sears. He will just like jettison straight into the studio.
Yeah, for those of you who do not know, Columbus has a player who plays both ways, missed the third quarter.
But not quarterback.
Doesn't play quarterback, not yet anyway. Missed the third quarter, most of the third quarter with cramps while they're playing what is supposed to be, you know, one of the best teams in the country, the number 1 ranked team in the country. Those things can be, you know, Wrong in high school, but still, he had 3 interceptions and 2 touchdown catches, and he plays both ways. And I can't believe we're talking about anyone other than—
Malachi.
But we are already, because Mario Cristobal has refurbished everything about the program, and it is suddenly stable, and people aren't asking questions about the program. This is what's interesting to me. The Miami Heat obviously have earned, I would assume, the benefit of the doubt. And the Miami Heat have some issues with the way the media continues to look for holes on their team when they believe they got everybody they wanted except for LeBron James. That's obviously a giant except. But the part I wanted to get into with you guys, because it ended up with me arguing and questioning, and I'm assuming that I'm going to be on the side of the audience on this one, when Pat Riley came on South Beach Sessions and said he wanted to be— wanted that they still needed a playmaker. He was doing that because he wanted LeBron to hear it.
Of course.
But they are saying to me, and I'm disagreeing with this, but they're saying to me, you're sleeping on Pelle Larsson. And I'm like, hold on a second. You can't be serious that you think that Pelle Larsson is going to be your end-of-game guy. Like, Wiggins might be a better answer if you were to tell me that. But they are serious. And they're telling me, you're underestimating and you're getting forgetful about what Spo might be able to do with Giannis. That you're, you're forgetful. So I find it interesting that there are no questions about Cristobal, but there are questions still about this Heat team because they think they're playing for a championship this year.
I think it's obviously a great point about Giannis because every time Spo has gotten his hands on a superstar player, he did actually get them to another level, which includes LeBron. Like LeBron became a much better player his second year here in Miami than he was the previous 8 years of his career. Obviously Jimmy was a better player once he got here as well. So I think that's an interesting point. I, I have very high hopes for Pelle Larsson. I've liked him anyway, but there aren't a whole lot of examples of a player in Pelle Larsson's spot, undrafted, You know, uh, at best a role player his first few years in the league. And now the Heat are telling us, hey, you're underestimating this guy as far as a guy who's going to take a massive leap. Not a ton of—
It's not just that guy though. There— it's the combination. It's you're underestimating, Dan, what Spo can do with Giannis. When I'm asking the questions about Pella, the response is you're underestimating both Wiggins— you're, you're underestimating Wiggins And you're underestimating what Spo can create around a player of this caliber who's going to distort all the defenses.
I brought that up about Wiggins last week. I feel like I kind of got laughed at, right? Where like, Wiggins kind of needs to be the guy at the end of games who can get you a shot.
Well, but when they're saying Pelle Larsson's going to be the guy, I believe most of the people listening to this are like, get out of here. Like, stop it.
If you're a Heat fan, you've watched enough of Andrew Wiggins, you're probably more attracted to the unknown. of Pelle Larsson doing that at the end of games and what you can kind of expect with Wiggins that has a ceiling.
I do fear that what I am doing here is that I'm doing this to Pelle because he's white. I feel like I'm underestimating the things— I watched a lot of Heat games last year and he was really good in those Heat games.
He's already developed into a useful player.
And he will get better. And I think that this is just a subconscious or conscious bias that I have where I'm saying it can't be Pelle Larsson at the end of games while I'm being told, hey, Khris Middleton wasn't exactly He was a clutch shot maker, but he was not exactly a playmaker.
Chris Middleton had a brilliant career, made it to the national team, was a huge part of a title-winning team. So I think that those are lofty comparisons, but I get them. He has a great nickname, Pelle Larsson, but it's a little too wordy. Swedish Bounce Mafia.
Can I give you a potential nickname for Klay Thompson? How do you feel about Klay Allen?
How does he feel about Klay Allen? You're talking about one of the greatest 2 guards in the history of the game.
The player doesn't get to decide.
Oh, he's, he's got his opinions when it comes to anything Ray Allen. He's been pretty vocal on that, and he doesn't like the comparisons.
He cannot like the comparisons, but the comparisons are what everybody is doing with him. This used to be one of the best 2-way players in the game. Draymond Green is not wrong, although I do not know why he would say this, that he is not the player that he was 10 years ago. That goes without saying. He's also not been the same since his injury. That's not up for dispute. Since getting hurt, he cannot play the same way on both sides of the ball. But there is no disputing that when he gets in this uniform, this will be— and only because Ray Allen has been here— it'll be the 2nd-best shooter the Miami Heat have ever had in a uniform. And only the 2nd-best because Ray Allen played here. And you saw what it is that Ray Allen did. And I'm comparing what I believe Clay— Clay Allen— what I believe Klay Thompson will be in this stage. I can't just insert him here after what saw last year and assume that he's gonna be able to recreate Ray Allen because Ray Allen, while the same age, wasn't coming off of this kind of injury.
Like, Klay Thompson has not been the same player since he was hurt in the Finals.
Shot 38% from 3 last year on a bad team where defenders aren't exactly sagging off of him to go double someone else in a Mavericks uniform. That's going to happen this year in Miami. I'd have to assume he shoots— and 38%, by the way, is good. And I would have to assume he's going to be better than that now.
I can't assume anything there with age, given what I saw last year specifically from Klay Thompson. He was not good last year. 38% from 3 is fine. He was not a good basketball player for them last year.
He wasn't the same type of defensive player, certainly. But that team also wasn't what you anticipated them being like. They weren't a competitive team. And when he signed in Dallas, the anticipation was playing with Luka and Kyrie and playing off of those offensive skill sets. Now he gets to play off of Giannis Antetokounmpo. And look, the last 3 years that he was in Golden State before going to Dallas, he shot 40% from 3, and that's coming off of 2 missed seasons. He had the knee and then the Achilles. And even then, the last 4 years, he's played no fewer than 69 games in a season. Like, the guy's been relatively healthy.
Yeah.
He played 72 and 77 before last year playing 69. And that's in a year where they were just tanking at the end.
If you're Dallas, can he be better defensively than Duncan Robinson was those years on, on, you know, championship-contending Heat teams? Because I think he would be.
I'm telling you that what I'm most grateful for in this conversation, I don't know when exactly it happened. I don't know how exactly it happened. I mean, Allen Iverson was a total icon in that league, shooting 40% from the field almost his entire career. I just simply love that the analysis of all of these guys comes now with this is what the percentage was from 3, because everyone everyone is now doing some math with their sports. That is not— I would say that as recently as 5 or 6 years ago, that was not a mainstream thing. That even shooting percentage from 3 might as well have been considered an advanced analytic 5 or 6 years ago. And now it's just baked into it the way that they're playing the game, where you're, uh, you're looking at what guys like Tim Hardaway do from 3, and all you need is a percentage to know what it is that they are from there.
Klay has a lot of mitigating factors explaining why he's depth, but I also think part of it is he doesn't have the same body. He does since the injury.
So he'd get it back here, wouldn't you assume?
No.
Let's see.
I don't assume at 37— I don't assume that somebody can simply, uh, resuscitate that, especially since when people talk about the habits of Klay Thompson, they're not the habits of Ray Allen.
That's, that's my point. Like, we're not talking about recreating something when it comes to Klay's approach to conditioning and basketball. I'm sure he has his feelings there, but he has never been in the same world as Ray Allen. Few athletes are when it comes to taking care of their body and cardio. We mentioned it before last week that I'm pretty sure Dwyane Wade lost years of his career chasing Ray Allen around on screens, and it was a huge part of him getting open. And Klay, even though Ray wasn't the greatest on-ball defender either, Klay losing those physical attributes probably is one of the reasons why he's dipped in form, no Wo gibt's eigentlich die weißen Rosen aus Athen?

This is the Dan Levitan Show. This is SUI Week. It's always a great deal of fun to sort of just remember a whole bunch of things that we had forgotten about over the course of the year. So one of the big categories every year is Best Revelations. So let's see, uh, what we have. It's loaded. It's always loaded. Let's see who surprised us votes with something they said.
And now the SUI nominees for Best Revelation. Charles Barkley reveals what happened with his Sergei Bobrovsky clip.
First of all, let me explain.
Go on.
When you go to do a hit on television, you get to the game early, and I'm on spring break at that time. So I was already in the Sergey vodka before I got to Bobrovsky.
Nice.
You know, I had already started drinking before the game, Dan. So I was thinking Bobrovsky and babaki.
Sergey Bobovka.
That's exactly right. I was already in the vodka already. I'm not gonna go to a hockey game and not drink, Dan.
Chris Cody puts down grocery store items anywhere he wants.
If I have like a can of creamed corn and I get a text from my wife, hey, we got the creamed corn, you don't need it, that thing's going back on whatever aisle I'm at.
Good point.
Just if it— if it can't be ruined—
Wait a minute.
If it can't be ruined, it can go anywhere. Wherever I'm at in the store, it's going from the cart right to the nearest shelf.
So you're putting a can of creamed corn next to the toilet paper and paper towels?
It's a gag.
Yeah. That ain't right.
Dan Le Batard, restaurant revelation.
Mike Schur was actually the one who showed me this the other day. I was unaware until a month ago that you put your credit card in the bill at the top to tell the waiter that that's where you put the credit card.
The slot.
The little flap was there.
What do you think that slot, that little pocket was there for?
Listen, listen, there are 1,000 things you guys would be surprised that I don't know about very simple table manners.
Jon Fanta, Fireball revelation.
The night I had the most fun, like I drank a whole bottle of Fireball the night they beat the Steelers in the wildcard COVID game.
That's aggressive.
It was just like watching Roethlisberger, watching Roethlisberger on the bench crying was just, oh, it was just an amazing experience as a Browns fan.
Dave Damashek will eat a slice of pizza from a stranger's table on Mystery Crate.
If the table nearby leaves a half-eaten pizza, I'll get up and take a piece of that pizza to see how it is. I watched my old man do it and I, I was a— my mother reacted in such a way, I was like, she must be right about that. That is bad behavior. But as I met him, And I matured. I realized he was right. What did they do, spit on it? Well, we're not gonna eat the rest of this pizza. We're gonna make sure nobody else can eat it either.
David Sampson didn't get his son's foreskin in his divorce.
Did you keep the foreskin?
No. Yeah, that's a thing too.
That's a thing.
Throw that in the garbage.
No, you keep it.
You keep it. It has to get dry after a while, right?
Well, so does the umbilical cord.
Do you know where your foreskin is then?
100%. I did not get it in the divorce.
Send us a photo. Is it in the safety deposit box? It's in the time capsule underneath Marlon's park.
How much would you—
David Sampson on being generous for personal gain.
I've paid for something for a person in front of me online when I thought that there was a possibility of a multi-minute delay, right? And I didn't find the juice worth the squeeze for whatever it was. I've done it at restaurants. I've done it at stores.
Really?
When someone is out buying— if I've got a huge thing and I'm in a rush. So if I've been instructed by my wife to bring back eggs and to bring back something that we forgot for the kids, and I had to go grocery shopping with a list, and then there's someone in front of me who's fumbling and bumbling, and I've got a kid who needs to eat— that was an example of the time that I would always do that, where I would buy the groceries. Hey, I'll take care of that, no problem.
Yeah.
And then it just adds to mine. They take their groceries and they get to leave.
Perfect. And did they show appropriate gratitude?
Didn't care. I don't do it. I don't do it for the gratitude. I do it for the time savings.
But you want a thank you.
I don't, I don't need it.
Elle Duncan reveals who her favorite child is.
Damn you for making me choose. It's like choosing between my children, which we can all do, by the way. Anybody in there that has more than one kid knows you have a favorite. Go ahead and do it.
And then my dad will go next.
Go ahead and do it. It's— my favorite is my son.
Wow.
Whoa.
Greg Cody K-Cup revelation.
The life hack is that you can use a K-Cup more than once. Okay, you don't just fill up your cup and then throw away the K-Cup.
I'm pretty sure they're one serving.
You definitely do that.
That is historically true. No, no, you guys, that is new levels of cheapness.
That's a white team move.
If you use the second, and if you pour it in a glass cup, you see what I mean. Naturally, the first use of the K-Cup is the stronger one, but if you don't mind a mild coffee, you get double the pleasure out of a, out of a K-Cup. It's amazing.
That's trash.
That is—
that's trash, dog.
Greg Cody reveals what turns him on.
Greg Cody's algorithm is filled with lions.
Yeah, lion in the wild, man. If it's chasing down an antelope and, and, and jumping on an antelope and bringing down an animal twice its size and killing it with a bite to the neck in a matter of seconds— turn on.
Everyone knows a lion.
What?
Turn on?
Turn on?
Turn on?
Those make me sad.
It's the wild. Things happen in the wild.
Don't admit You said it's a turn-on? So your algorithm is—
I mean, sexually. I mean, where are you?
What are—
what other turn-ons do we have?
Go ahead, define turn-on.
Turn-on?
Go ahead.
It excites me. What do you feel like? Does blood pump through your body? Yeah, it's exciting. It fires you up, Greg.
That's what you should have said.
It fires me up. It fires me up. It's exciting to see the power and majesty of the king of the jungle in action.
Jeremy Taché loves diarrhea.
Oh, I love diarrhea. There will be times where I'll purposefully, when I'm feeling like bloated for the span of several days, I will order a meal knowing that it's gonna flush me out because I just want to feel better about myself. As someone who is very insecure about my body, it feels really good when I don't feel bloated. And so there are times where I will purposefully go out of my way to get a meal that I know will give me diarrhea.
Jessica Smetana, CD cleaning revelation on Mystery Crate.
And you flush it down the toilet. Do you guys do that when your CDs are scratched?
No.
No, what?
What kind of super white toilets do you have?
Yeah.
You would like not flush it down all the way, but like, I, there was like a thing me and my sister would do. You like put the CD in the toilet and, and flush it, and it was supposed to like wash the CD.
Zaslav reveals his first video game.
I did have something before the original Nintendo.
No, you didn't.
Yeah.
Oh, you're older than me.
You know about that Texas Instrument?
Oh shit.
The TI?
The TI?
No, not the calculator.
You were playing with calculators?
No. Texas Instrument TI-99. I had that. That was it.
That's a calculator.
It's not a calculator.
It had a full keyboard. You can't play a game on that.
Those are the controllers, and, and you have the game console right there on the right where you, you, you stuck it in.
I'm just learning about this.
Yeah, it had a keyboard.
I truly don't understand what I'm looking at.
That was it for the video audience. There it is, TI-99.
It looks like a polygraph machine.
Dave Damashek reveals he's a vigorous lovemaker.
You may look at me and be surprised to hear this. I happen to be a vigorous lovemaker, so that would never happen to me.
Chris Cody Sweeping off the table revelation.
I've never used Make Love, but I did a few weeks ago try the thing where you sweep off everything from a table.
Yeah.
And start that way.
What?
Yeah, it went well. Yeah, it was a little messy afterwards.
Really?
Had to pick up everything afterwards. But I took it for a walk and it was nice.
One sweep.
It makes it feel fresh.
It's like, oh, we—
it feels dangerous a little bit.
Dangerous.
I'm stunned by this.
Swiped everything off. I was like, come here, And I just swiped everything off the table, and we went in the bedroom, but I still was just like, before this—
Wait a minute, that's not—
It's just like a little foreplay. Instead of foreplay, I was just like, our whole kitchen table, everything gone.
But it's not— wait a minute, I didn't imagine you doing this. I didn't want to imagine you doing this. I'm now imagining you eating a clam pizza while doing it, but that's not the way to do it.
Greg Cody sweating revelation.
I'm the kind of guy who doesn't sweat. sweat.
That's an odd thing, to be honest.
I mean, I, I just don't sweat.
That's not possible, Greg.
That's how little he's active that he thinks he doesn't sweat. Did you give it up?
I did give up sweating.
That's nice.
Yeah, just like I gave up cigars. And for you, right?
Zaslav bombarded his neighbor's house to do his radio show.
If my neighbor shows up at my house looking for internet, I'm like, yeah, this is the worst neighbor ever.
Yeah, really?
Intrusion.
Yeah, you know, I better be really close with you if you're showing up at my house needing internet.
I've done a radio show.
My internet went out.
I did a radio That's right.
You better be close with your neighbor. That neighbor hates you.
No, he's my friend.
No, they definitely hate you. How long was your radio show for?
3 hours.
So you were 3 hours at your neighbor's house just screaming? Yeah, I'm loud.
I'm loud.
And you're— was this like the afternoon one? Like, what time was the show at?
Yeah, it was midday. 10 AM to 2 PM.
Midday.
Were they there?
No.
Wait, hold on. What? You went to your neighbor's house and you were alone in your neighbor's house just screaming?
Yeah.
That's crazy.
In their bedroom too.
What? Why?
Because that was where the better connection was for the internet.
Zaslav Costco revelation.
I've never been to Costco.
What? Are you kidding?
What? I've never stepped foot in a Costco.
Do you know how wonderful they are?
No, I just told you I've never been.
Well, okay, but have you heard reputationally how wonderful the warehouse savings are at Costco? I don't know. Most people like Costco, right? Most people aren't going to say anything bad about excess.
It's almost impossible not to like Costco.
You do look like a Sam's Club guy.
You'll have the best time ever.
Never been. We have a thing in the Zaslav mansion that if you want to be man of the house, step up, man. You want to challenge, you can challenge. And my son, for the first time, decided, all right, I'm going to challenge.
Like the Black Panther ceremony?
You know what? Really similar to Black Panther. Anybody want to step up and challenge? I'm king of this house.
You want to step up?
Step up. All right. You can take me down. That's it. Like, 1, 2, 3, or just on the floor? Take me down on the ground. Yeah.
tap out?
Uh, essentially, yeah, but it hasn't happened yet, so we'll see.
Are outsiders welcome? Like if I wanted your house, could I just show up at your house and take you down, Waters?
No, no, you're not— you don't then, you don't then become in charge of my family.
You'd have to kill him.
So it's not like Black Panther.
So my son, sneak attack style, my older one, he's 16, he decided to challenge. Let's just say it didn't go well for him, all right? And as a result, uh, he could try again in 6 Greg Cody Uncle Buddy revelation.
Right after we moved from Lawrence, Massachusetts, we stayed with Uncle Buddy in South Miami for a few weeks.
Hold on, I never knew that. Wait, hold on a second.
The memory from there is that my mother took a walk from the house in South Miami, and there was a river right nearby, and she looks down in the river over a little footbridge.
The hell is going on?
And she sees dozens of dead cats.
Dead cats?
And that was a, a mem— an early memory of the Uncle Buddy Weeks. What happened to them? Uh, they— I have no idea. I didn't kill him. But Uncle Buddy—
I didn't think you did.
Well, he would show up at the house with a 6-pack. Then you could drink and drive. Oh yeah.
What?
Yeah, you could drink and drive. It was like probably the mid-'60s by that point, maybe early '60s. Look this up. And he would, he would show up at the house with a 6-pack of—
Uncle Buddy up to no good.
He's been dead for years.
Oh no.
Yeah.
The Zaslows haven't produced a girl in over a century.
The Zaslows? have not produced a female in over 100 years.
That sounds insane.
That's true.
100 years?
That's true.
Yeah, I have an aunt, uh, my Aunt Blanche. We don't make Blanches anymore.
104 years of age.
Uh, well, no, she died a while ago, but she was born—
Feel good, Dave?
She was the last female Zaslav. It's been over— so it's been like around 110 years.
Pablo Torre gum revelation.
Are you still a human being who has never chewed gum?
What?
That's correct.
My origin story is that I was like at school one day, like running my hand underneath my desk absentmindedly, you know? And what do you think I felt there, gentlemen?
Is it gum? Is it gum?
It was already been chewed gum and I didn't know it. I'm just like fondling it. And then I look underneath the desk and I'm horrified what I've been touching for the whole time.
Fondling the gum.
To be very clear, for legal reasons, the gum. And that is a traumatic experience. I'm not eating that.
Chris Cody sister-in-law revelation.
There are times, you know, in marriage you're going through, you know, you're like, it's, you know, this is—
I don't like where this is headed.
I don't either.
Where sometimes you just like, if you're trying to keep things fresh, you just imagine it's the other person.
Oh no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
What's the matter with you, man? I didn't hear it. Suey.
Guys in the room outside, mark that down.
Suey won't let you see.
For the record, did everybody see, as one of society's great empaths, did you see me try to get in the way? Did you see me try to dive in front of that? He refused!
Your wife clearly does not listen to this show.
I mean, what in hell?
No worries, this is getting back to her.
Let's not clip this if we can.
That was an incredible omission.
Greg, what did you make of all that?
A little bit unfortunate. I wish he hadn't said that. Well, in the context of this show, you can always say I was just kidding. Of course, I was just kidding. But will she believe you?
I was.

Dan Levitar.
My algorithm on Instagram is, Dan, it's all boobs.
Jonathan Sasselow.
It's a good algorithm.
This is the Dan Levitar Show. Please put it on the poll at Le Batard Show. Uh, will Heat fans like the nickname Clay Allen for Klay Thompson? Uh, this is what Klay Thompson, uh, told ESPN's Wes Palm about the Ray Allen comparisons, Mike. So I don't know what it is that you think he's objecting to. Of course I like those comparisons. I love Ray Allen. Are you kidding me? Him and Reggie were the blueprint for my whole off-ball formula. It gives me chills I'm even in the same sentence as Ray, because if you told me this my rookie season, I would have never believed you. Ray has one of the greatest shots in history, and I still practice that backpedal drill he did in Game 6 of 2013. I love those comparisons.
He's argued with fans online before about Klay comparisons and not doing it on a bad team and being the highest scorer in the NBA Finals. He's gone at people before for the Ray comparisons, never disrespecting Ray, but certainly pounding his chest about his own bona fides.
How about this one, Zazz? Dallas Mavs play-by-play guy Chuck Cooperstein says, there's lots of talk in Miami about the acquisitions of Klay and Tim Hardaway, but after watching some of the Euro qualifiers this weekend, might want to keep an eye on where Pelle Larsson fits in all this. Not sure on his shooting, but all he does is draw fouls in a manner that rides rival, how Luka and SGA, or gasp, Dwyane Wade do it.
Yeah, the most recent, uh, Klay Thompson comments on Ray Allen were like from 6 days ago. He was asked about it because people dug up his interactions with fans before.
I think it was more in the context of this stage of his career because I think what Klay was doing before was, hey, look at both of us in our prime and who we were on winning teams, where he looks at his own career right now. He brought it up on, on his own it was presented to him at the press conference originally. And he said, like, I want to get in heat shape. I think it'll be incredible for me.
I think this stage of his career, that's why.
Yeah, we're back.
We're talking about Pelle Larsen.
Tim Donovan's back making sure, hey, let's clean this up a little bit. We're back.
We're talking about Pelle Larsen that way. Come on, folks. Speaking of back, y'all know how good he is.
Where were you yesterday?
Like, I was recovering. I was recovering from my first ever weekend in Daytona. And also I'm on the air for 12 hours today. So a little maintenance day. Dan, it was my first ever race at Daytona International Motor Speedway, and we have a recap video to celebrate it. We are back at the World Center of Racing.
Welcome to Daytona International Speedway.
We are going full throttle on the car around The most famous track in all of motorsports. I cannot wait for the AC. We're hopping in this Toyota Camry. We're about to go real fast. All right, you guys have a great time. Wow, this is legit awesome. I'm just talking about the air conditioning. How's that breakfast burrito sitting? All right, that was a great warm-up lap. Remember that bicycle that you banged your shin on? Redemption arc time, and I'm ready to give it another go. And on top of that, make this leaderboard. So let's make the world's fastest margarita. Oh, and my shins are okay!
All right, we did it!
Redemption!
The view is great from the top, and check out those shins, perfectly Yeah, I worked up a little bit of thirst, so we headed over to the Cuervo Bar and grabbed some of the world's fastest margaritas. That margarita is fast.
Come on, bandana!
I won the bandana!
Now it's race week.
Oh, we're gonna do it legit. We're playing, we're playing now. We'll play to Yeah! The Mikes brought it. You knew the Miami folks pulled up. Day's going great so far. It's almost green flag time. We're gonna get in there and watch some cars go fast. Hopefully as fast as this margarita. 2 number 3s that mean a lot to me. Dwyane Wade and Dale Earnhardt Jr. They both have statues. This one's a little bit better. The greatest NASCAR driver that ever lived.
Woo!
Unmatched energy out here in the pits. It's the pits at Daytona Motor Speedway. Wow, it's huge! Look at these grandstands, as far as the eye can see. That's one of like the most awe-inspiring things in sports, like the grandstands at Daytona Speedway. I've seen it a handful of times, not for a race. It's a different energy right now. People have no idea how large this place is until they actually step foot.
Did you know Did you know?
Shake the camera if you knew. No, you didn't know. All right, we're here waiting for the driver intros. Electric, especially at Daytona. It's a big pep rally, celebrate the warriors that'll go out there and risk life and limb on one of the most dangerous tracks in all of motorsports.
Number 22, Gilgamesh Racing Toyota, Christopher Bell! Please, one thing left to do. Let's go racing! All right, the drivers have been introduced.
That means there's one last thing to do— the Coke Zero 400.
Let's go!
Wow, what a journey. Many are saying this was the greatest Coke Zero Sugar 400 they've ever seen, and I happen to agree. Certainly the best one that I've ever been in person for. Ryan Preece gets into the chase, a dramatic finish, a pretty clean race for a Daytona Superspeedway up until the very end, and all hell broke out. And the chase field is set, and I am exhausted. But Cuervo, you were amazing yet again. Thank you for delivering an unbelievable experience for my friends and I. We'll be back next year, come hell or high water.
You didn't exactly cover the race. That priest story is nuts.
The race was fantastic. NASCAR implemented a bunch of new rules because people got sick of the superspeedway racing where people were just fuel saving. The superspeedways are supposed to be maniacal, crazy, anything can happen. And for most of that race, up until 3 laps to go, it was a really well-run race. Lots of passing, but no big ones. And then all hell broke loose, Dan, and Ryan Preece came from the outside of the chase needing a win, a Hail Mary type of situation to get into the chase over SVG Zaz.
Who's SVG?
Stan Van Gundy. He was right there with the chase standing. You weren't listening. I was setting you up for a joke.
I mean, I just— SVG?
Shane Van Gensburg is the greatest road course driver maybe who ever lived. He threw you an alley-oop there so that we could put Stan Van Gundy in the corner. He didn't care at all.
Don't worry about that.
Yeah, what was he looking at? Was he looking at his algo? Great fans.
Don't worry about all that.
He's looking at Nikki Glaser.
That's part of his algo. So Ryan Preece has a photo finish at the very end again in the chase, and it was super dramatic. He needed to win. If he did not He would not win. He flatly would not get into the chase as FEG would have. Ryan Preece by a hair beats out Daniel Suarez.
Standby, Munzee!
Ryan Preece has almost died at this track before. Do we have photos of Ryan Preece's accident at Daytona? The new cars don't flip like this. He flipped 10 times in the air. He's nicknamed the Rocket Man because he almost died at Daytona. So it was an incredible redemption arc.
Almost needed a priest.
Not the— no. All right, Zazz, help me, buddy. But it was incredible, and I want to thank Cuervo for sending me out there. I can't wait to go back. Definitely got to go to a Daytona 500. The party was great, and the grandstands are an exceptional place to watch the race, especially if the race is half as good. Gearhead is presented by Cuervo. For every lap, keep it fun, keep it Cuervo. Another day I'll tell you about how my friend College Mike almost got his ass kicked because people believed he was Carson Hosoburgh, and he signed plenty of autographs. Please show your support.
