Good morning, girlies, it's The Toast.

00:00:09

It's Jax and Claude and we're your hosts. It's your favorite show, the fast 5 things you need to know.

00:00:18

We'll start your day off swirly, it's The Toast.

00:00:23

I sound amazing.

00:00:25

Welcome back to The Toast and happy Friday. It's the final Friday of the year. If you're a Jewess.

00:00:31

I guess so, yeah.

00:00:33

The Jewish New Year starts this evening.

00:00:35

Starts tonight, which is very exciting. Today is a very heavy day.

00:00:39

I feel terrible, I feel terrible.

00:00:41

Today is the 25th anniversary of 9/11. I was actually running so late this morning because I was just getting all of this 9/11 content.

00:00:49

I know.

00:00:49

I don't know if you've seen or if people, Liz Woods put me onto this Twitter page called like 2001 Live. And it's basically a Twitter account. They make them for like 50 years ago, 100 years ago, but it like, live tweets the day as if it were September 10th, 2001, and they're doing September 11th minute-by-minute tweets like as it happened. And I've been watching like just so much 9/11 content. Last night I was just watching like all these like docu— little docu videos on Instagram, and I feel like I get this sort of content every year and it's just like shocking.

00:01:23

No, yeah.

00:01:24

No matter how many times I've seen it, but I also feel like I'm seeing more stuff than I have in the past. And I, I feel like this year there's really like— maybe I didn't understand this prior, but like the way that people experienced it in the moment is now so different from how we see it in hindsight. Like when the first plane hit the tower, it— people were not sure that it wasn't an accident. Of course.

00:01:47

And that's why people say, and it's so true, like 9/11 really marks like the loss of innocence in our country. Because if something like that happened now, we'd be like, Whodunit! Like, we would know that we were being attacked. People really, really believed that it was an accident, like the plane lost control.

00:02:00

Yeah.

00:02:00

Because— and it wasn't until clearly the second plane got hit that it was like, oh no, my God, like somebody did this on purpose. And that's why like 9/11 makes me so sad for so many reasons. But I feel like there are people walking around now who like either lived through it or like learned about it. And to have lived through it and to have known, even though I was only like 10 or 11, No, sorry, 7. To have experienced life before and life after, there's such a marked difference in culture in our country. And it just like marks this like really, I think like turning point, bad turning point for our country. And I think there's like a lack of understanding about it now 'cause there are so many people who just weren't there. And I was talking to Ben this morning.

00:02:41

And there's so much garbage on the internet, like conspiracy theories, everything that they see now, is it AI? Like, no, it's not AI.

00:02:50

It was Israel.

00:02:51

Oh, of course it was.

00:02:52

Bush did 9/11. Like, it's like a joke and it's like, um, a hologram, right?

00:02:59

Or it was a controlled demolition. So I've seen so many videos of like, because of all the smoke and everything when the, the buildings collapsed, like you can't actually see the buildings collapse. So people are like, it's a controlled demolition. But I've seen now like simulations of how—

00:03:13

Low IQ individuals.

00:03:15

Of how the buildings did probably fall, but you can't see through all the clouds and dust. And it just like makes me really mad about all the conspiracy theories. I also feel like there's one conspiracy theory that people sort of just like assume to be true at this point, which I might have thought, but then I saw something yesterday, another piece of information that I didn't know about United 93.

00:03:37

Oh, I can't watch that movie. I've only seen it once and it seriously, it changed me.

00:03:41

So United 93 was the passenger jet that was hijacked that was headed for I'm not sure where.

00:03:47

Yeah.

00:03:47

And the passengers like rebelled and they were able to, to like get in the cockpit, and then the hijackers just slammed the plane into the ground and they all died, but they saved whatever destination that they were headed for. And people sort of say like that, that plane was shot out of the sky because no one would have allowed a passenger jet that known to be hijacked to hit the White House or just like flying around and crash anywhere. Like, they did crash into a field. And I was like, oh, I guess like maybe that would be true. But 2 things I learned yesterday. One, I saw an interview from a woman whose job it was to get into a fighter jet.

00:04:22

I saw that too, the blonde lady.

00:04:23

And take down United 93. That she like, it was gonna be 2 fighter jets. She was gonna hit the tail and the other one was gonna hit the cockpit. And they were suiting up and getting into their jets and then the plane went down. So like, I, feel like the story that we know is the truth. And then I also saw an interview with George Bush where when he heard United 93 went down, like, for the first 10 minutes he thought that it, it was taken down because he had authorized that. He had authorized like any passenger plane that's like been known to be hijacked, like, we have to take them down.

00:04:55

Of course.

00:04:55

Which is a hard decision to make, of course. And so when he heard United 93 went down, he thought that they did it. And it wasn't until like 10 minutes later that it was found out that the passengers did it. So I feel like—

00:05:05

If you've never seen that movie, you guys, it is, it's like, it is the saddest movie I've ever seen in my whole life.

00:05:12

Peter Hermann.

00:05:14

Will Arnett. Like every actor in that movie, I just love them for doing that.

00:05:18

And the guy who Peter Hermann plays, I think it's Todd Beamer, who would like let the child—

00:05:21

Yes, let's roll.

00:05:22

Let's roll. I saw a video by his dad yesterday and it was just like, it was really beautiful, but it was also just like shaming people who think America deserved 9/11. Like, just people— he said, you're not American if you— if you think that, if you say that. You have every right to say whatever you want, but that's not American.

00:05:42

I'm actually going to the World Trade Center later today. Um, Ben and I were talking this morning, 'cause you always think about like your own experience, and I feel like we talk about it every year, like being pulled from school and everything. But we were on Long Island. Ben was in the city. He was on 84th Street. And I was just like asking a million questions and he was like, we were walking everywhere. Like, he lived thankfully like walking distance from school. He was like, when we were walking home from school, there was smoke everywhere. I'm like, really? All the way up on 80-whatever street? Like 100 blocks uptown that morning? He was like, yeah, it was insane. Like for weeks.

00:06:14

Yeah. Also something that I didn't realize is like, so the North Tower was hit first and then the people in the South Tower were told to stay in place. They like, some people were trying to evacuate and they like were making announcements like, stay put. Like, the—

00:06:27

right, because if it was only the North Tower, it's almost even more dangerous to be outside.

00:06:32

Yes, but they were getting like smoke in their building, so some people just like overrode that and started to leave. Um, but for a while before their tower was hit, they were being told to stay.

00:06:43

There's so many stories of like— I mean, that's why, like you're saying, you're getting so much content. There's so many stories of just like everyday people. I was just reading about, um, the boats. I guess like almost a million people were evacuated. Manhattan is, is an island, so they— the Coast Guard put out a thing on the radio.

00:06:59

Dunkirk style.

00:07:01

Yes, to every boat in, you know, in the region, being like, if you can get to Southern Manhattan, we're evacuating people. They evacuated almost a million people on like the Staten Island Ferry, which is what Pete Davidson bought, that Staten Island Ferry. Um, but like tugboats and people's yachts, like—

00:07:16

Yeah, I saw the same video.

00:07:18

regular people. Um, so yeah, because you couldn't get out of Lower Manhattan.

00:07:24

Like, obviously there was no subway. People were abandoning their cars because of traffic.

00:07:27

So gridlock.

00:07:28

Like, the only way off at that point would be to go to the sea, right?

00:07:33

Or walk. And you see videos of people like literally running uptown, running across the bridge.

00:07:38

Yeah.

00:07:38

Um, and it's actually like insane how much footage there is given that it was 2001. Like, a lot of people there had cell phones. And that's how they all like left voicemails. There used to be phones on planes, remember? Like you could make like a landline to collect call. And there's so much of that. There's like audio recordings, there's 911 calls. But it's crazy because it really wasn't even that like digital of an era.

00:08:02

Yeah, it was just the beginning. Like enough for people to have cell phones and communicate, but like not to really document it the way that it would be documented now.

00:08:11

Yeah.

00:08:13

The voicemails, I can't— those like shake me.

00:08:16

Hey, Joyce.

00:08:17

Oh my God, I saw— I listened to a girl like calling her sister yesterday.

00:08:21

It was just— It's always a— today, this year in particular, 25th anniversary, like it does feel bigger. And being in the city, like it's so spooky. And it's always a gorgeous day, 'cause that's what they say about 9/11. Like it was the perfect day.

00:08:36

It was fierce, guys. But then I heard from 2001 Live that there was supposed to be a hurricane. Then like the day before, like, the hurricane just passed New York. They were expecting like a cold day.

00:08:47

Flight cancellations.

00:08:48

Yeah, but no, it turned out to be a perfect day. And then I also learned that Seth MacFarlane was supposed to be on the flight from Boston.

00:08:56

I did know that.

00:08:57

I maybe have heard that before, but I, but I didn't remember it.

00:09:01

That's crazy.

00:09:02

It's crazy.

00:09:03

Yeah.

00:09:03

That's crazy.

00:09:07

And just shout out to the first responders. Like, imagine seeing the worst thing you've ever seen in your life. Like unimaginable tragedy, horror, fear. People are running for their fucking lives uptown and like you're running downtown. You're driving downtown, like you're heading towards it.

00:09:22

They're running down the stairs and you're running up.

00:09:24

It's a different breed of human. And these are people with like families at home. So today's 9/11.

00:09:34

Yeah. So I would recommend following along this account. I think they're doing a really good job. I don't know, my whole feed, everything, maybe 'cause I keep watching everything, but—

00:09:44

I know, I know. You are enabling the feed to continue.

00:09:47

The more videos I watch, the more they serve me.

00:09:50

No, it's very compelling. And I feel like the networks are getting new angles. Like, I'm sure you saw like the guys who clean the 9/11 Memorial Pool and like their story.

00:09:58

Oh yes, I've seen them.

00:10:00

Yeah, like people are, all the networks are like fighting to get like new and different stories and angles. And you know what, like, I appreciate thousands of stories, unfortunately. And there will be a time— it reminds me like of the Holocaust where it's like there's so few survivors left. There won't be people around forever who lived through 9/11, or let alone who were there.

00:10:19

Yeah, I heard from the, the ticketing agent who checked in the hijackers.

00:10:24

Oh, I didn't hear that. That's spooky as fuck.

00:10:27

Yeah, and he thought they looked sus, and he was like, And then he checked himself internally. He's like, that's not politically correct.

00:10:34

Oh, and I mean, in the movie, like, they were acting suspicious as hell. That one guy was so nervous. Like, yeah, it's a lot of things. Maybe he looked like bulky underneath.

00:10:43

Yeah, no, not that, just the way he looked. Um, and he felt himself— he felt himself like being like politically incorrect, improper. He like checked himself, and now he's like, fuck that, like, I should have trusted my gut. Wow.

00:10:55

But it's also crazy to think about a life before TSA, right?

00:10:59

At the time, there was nothing. They boarded with knives, which was legal.

00:11:03

Did you just like waltz onto a plane before 9/11? Not even like a metal detector?

00:11:08

Metal— they had metal detectors, but they weren't like scanning for the things that they scan for now.

00:11:12

Right. And now you can't even bring a bottle of water.

00:11:14

Yeah.

00:11:16

And you know what? I feel like I'm always complaining about TSA.

00:11:19

I know.

00:11:20

Obviously they have their problems. Of course they are an imperfect organization. But you know what? On days like today, Thank you. I'll shut up.

00:11:30

Yeah. And I saw a really sad story about another— a lady who checked in for like a different flight, who checked in the Terrace, and she took her own life afterwards.

00:11:42

Oh my God, that's terrible. Yeah, I've never heard that story.

00:11:47

Yeah, just like so— that's what I mean. I feel like every year I see so much content, like there's just more and more, but like that's how many— it was thousands of people.

00:11:54

If you're ever in a New York City cab, highly recommend chatting with your driver about like, 'cause a lot of these drivers are like older gentlemen who were around on 9/11 and like what they went through that day. Like so many of them like literally were like shuttles for cops.

00:12:06

Mm-hmm.

00:12:07

For firefighters. 'Cause there was like no way to get around if you were on the island. Like you couldn't get off vehicularly and you really couldn't get on. Yeah. The bridges were closed. So if you were there with your car, like a lot of them just got to work.

00:12:19

Yeah, I also saw like Harvey Levin, TMZ, like they did a documentary called The Fifth Plane, and there's a theory, but this seems like probably true.

00:12:28

Wait, 5 planes? 2 for the towers?

00:12:30

Oh, 2 for the towers, United 93, Pentagon. But apparently like their documentary is about this 5th plane that was like delayed at JFK, and they believe that there were hijackers on that plane, and like whenever they got in the air that that something was going to happen. They said like the fishiest stuff was happening, and then they grounded all flights. So like that flight never took off.

00:12:51

But who do they think the hijackers were? Like, did they arrest them?

00:12:53

I don't know. I would have to watch the documentary, but that seems to make sense.

00:12:57

Yeah.

00:12:59

Yeah, I'm sure there was like a lot of stuff like that. And I'm sure you've seen the James Woods story, the actor James Woods.

00:13:06

No.

00:13:07

Okay, James Woods is an actor, and in the summer of 2001, he was on a flight from the East Coast to the West Coast, and He saw like some very suspicious behavior and he reported it. And it turned out that it was like Mohammed Atta and it was a dry run for 9/11. And they were talking to each other and watching the pilots.

00:13:28

Oh my God.

00:13:29

And like the night of 9/11, like the FBI showed up at his door to like ask him what he saw. Like they finally followed up on it.

00:13:35

Oh, cool.

00:13:36

'Cause he turned out to be right.

00:13:37

A little late.

00:13:38

Yeah, but he was right.

00:13:40

No, but the thing is, like, back in the day, shit like that was unimaginable. Like, now we're all suspicious. Oh, that guy looks weird. Oh, you know, you go to a movie theater and you're like looking at everyone. It wasn't like that back in the day. Like, shit like this didn't happen. Like, so you sounded crazy. And that's what I mean when I say, like, it's just literally after that day, like, yeah, like the world is— the country is just different. Ever, like, and things that are possible now, like, literally were just not possible then.

00:14:07

Yeah, I saw someone say, and this is really how it felt like when you were in the '90s, like, I'm for everyone in the '90s, but I feel like we probably felt this way as much as we could, that like it felt like the end of history, you know? Like, like when you read your history textbooks, it's like the end of the Cold War, you close the book, like, and conflict is solved. Um, and then like after 9/11, it's like, you know, hotter than ever.

00:14:30

Yeah.

00:14:31

And like, I think that was a major shift for people in how they thought about the world.

00:14:38

Yeah, it was— it's a loss of innocence, like, really. And like belief that, like, you know, that good will prevail. Like, it's just— it's, it's such an— like, it's an unimaginable evil. Like, you do— you can't even conjure up. Now we can, because now, like, we're— as Americans, we're hardened. And like, we, we really see the worst in everyone and everything.

00:14:58

Yeah.

00:14:58

And it wasn't always like that.

00:15:00

No, it like just set off like an evil period of time, I guess.

00:15:05

Yeah, and we're still in it.

00:15:06

And we're still in it.

00:15:09

Ugh. Well—

00:15:10

So we're thinking of the victims and the families and anyone who was affected by 9/11.

00:15:15

Like, everyone has a story that like randomly connects them to 9/11.

00:15:19

Yeah.

00:15:20

I have such a pit. Um, so we will still do the show. We won't be like such bummers.

00:15:26

No, we'll still do the show. Like, Paige Paul's in Architectural Digest. Like, that, that does like Booing, that like, you know.

00:15:33

That helps.

00:15:33

That helps, I guess. And then when there are things we wanna talk about. Shifting gears, Salamoo premiered yesterday. We haven't watched, but we're gonna watch in time for a recap on Monday. We sort of like made that game plan and give you guys all time to watch.

00:15:45

We are going to watch.

00:15:46

Apparently it's only 5 episodes.

00:15:49

Oh, well, I guess like it was a transitional time for the Secret Lives of the Mormon Wives. It was weird season, yeah. So that makes sense. And you know, I live for short content. So that works for me. I didn't start it yet, but yes, Jackie and I made a commitment. The official Solana season, whatever this is, recap will be here on Monday in full. So everyone has the whole weekend to watch it. I did watch US Open semifinals. So we have our female US Open players, final winner, final players are set. Of course, Aryna Sabalenka.

00:16:16

Of course.

00:16:17

And I forget the other girl's name, Rybakina. She beat Coco Gauff. That was like sad 'cause everyone last night was like rooting for Coco, like America, yada yada.

00:16:27

Not to be.

00:16:28

She lost. Not to be. And it's like the finals of the US Open is like the number 1 player versus the number 2 player. Like, uh, like obviously I know that's how it works.

00:16:35

I feel like that never happens though. It's always like some upstart.

00:16:40

Well, hopefully— I think people are thinking that's what's gonna happen for men's with Ben Shelton. He's, I think, like number 8. He would be technically the underdog.

00:16:49

So number 8 is not giving underdog. Like sometimes it's like a rookie. I know, playing Carlos Alcaraz.

00:16:54

Some random guy, yeah. I feel like tonight's gonna be like so— so the men's semifinal is tonight. It's 2 Americans, Tiafoe versus Ben Shelton, like on 9/11 in New York. I feel like it's gonna be like, I feel like it's gonna be an emotional night.

00:17:08

Yeah, for sure. That's the final game?

00:17:10

No, no, semifinals.

00:17:11

Oh, okay.

00:17:11

But they're treating it like it's the finals 'cause honestly, like, I don't know, he'll probably play like the alleged woman beater.

00:17:19

Who's that?

00:17:20

And it just won't hit the same. Zverev.

00:17:22

I, I don't know who that is.

00:17:24

I can't remember if he's Belgian or German. The flags are so similar. US Open reminded me yet again how few flags I know.

00:17:30

I think that's okay.

00:17:31

And don't ask me what the Russian flag looks like because all the Russian players like don't get flags.

00:17:35

They get a big black X.

00:17:36

They get a blue— no, they get like a blue square. So like literally if you ask me what the Russian flag is, it's a blue square.

00:17:41

It's actually red, white, and blue stripes.

00:17:45

No, that's France. No, no, no, that's America.

00:17:47

The stripes going the other way. There's one with the stripes going vertical. Let me see.

00:17:52

No, no, the stripes going vertical, red, white, and blue is France.

00:17:56

No, stripes going vertical, horizontal— no, stripes horizontal, red, white, and blue is Russia.

00:18:03

You lie. Oh my God, if you would have given me 1,000 guesses, I never would have told you that's the Russian flag.

00:18:10

Sort of like crushed it.

00:18:12

Like I said, I know no flags.

00:18:14

But I feel like it's a recent flag. 'Cause I would say like, I'm a Russian history expert, that's why I know it. But that's not been their flag. Like we know the Soviet flag.

00:18:20

Oh, I guess that's why I don't know it. It's like kind of newer?

00:18:22

It is newer.

00:18:24

Do flags ever go through rebrands? Like if the country doesn't like obviously like change its name and stuff like that?

00:18:28

Well, if we get another state, if we lose a state, we would get another star.

00:18:32

Oh, we'd have to get rid of a star.

00:18:34

Mm-hmm. Maybe other countries get like new flags, but I don't think—

00:18:39

You know my fun fact about flags, right?

00:18:41

No.

00:18:42

There's no purple ever in a flag.

00:18:45

That's not true. Because I did a crossword puzzle and it said like what country, it was like country with purple flag.

00:18:54

No, what I heard was that like you can't print purple on a flag. Like that was my fun fact. Are you sure?

00:18:59

It appears in Dominica and Nicaragua. Oh, but there's very little purple for Dominica, but Nicaragua is, Like all purple.

00:19:09

Well, they obviously didn't follow the rules because they're not supposed to, according to my fun facts.

00:19:13

The crossword puzzle was with maroon, and what was it? I feel like it was like Qatar.

00:19:19

I know Qatar. Is it purple?

00:19:22

Maroon. Yep.

00:19:24

No, I'm telling you, there's some— okay, maybe I have my fact like a little off, but there's something with purple and flags that you're not supposed to do.

00:19:30

Let's ask since we're here.

00:19:32

Yeah, since we're talking about it.

00:19:34

What's the rule with purple and flags?

00:19:37

I actually don't want you to Google it 'cause like maybe I'm making this up.

00:19:40

No, let's see where you're— where it's coming from for you.

00:19:44

Yeah, I might just be like misremembering.

00:19:47

Yeah, you might just be.

00:19:49

You're not seeing anything?

00:19:51

A purple flag at the beach means that there's dangerous marine life.

00:19:55

That is true. But you're not seeing, you're not seeing anything besides that?

00:20:01

No, it's all about beach safety.

00:20:05

Hmm. That is interesting. I'll have to do my own sort of research and let you guys know what I find.

00:20:09

Yeah. Yeah. No, there's definitely, it's stemming from somewhere, but was that like your big flag anecdote?

00:20:15

Purple? No, not anecdote. It was like I told you I had a fun fact about flags. Turns out I don't, but I thought I did.

00:20:20

I thought you said, did I tell you about the— I forget how you framed it. It sounded like you had to like memorize all the flags for school one year or something.

00:20:26

No, cuz God forbid I learned something useful. And you know what? I never learned that song that you alphabetically sing all the states in. Like for some reason.

00:20:35

Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Nevada, Connecticut.

00:20:38

I never learned it. Connecticut. And then like, no, I, I like, I know like some of the hits, but I don't know. We're gonna leave that out. And I feel, I feel that is constantly affecting me.

00:20:53

How so?

00:20:55

I don't know.

00:20:55

I just, I feel like because you play a lot of trivia. and stuff?

00:20:59

Just, I don't know, I think it's, I'm sure like subconsciously I know all the states, but if I were to list them, like I probably should do it on Patreon. Like how many of the, there's an episode of Friends where Ross like challenges everyone to write down all 50 states.

00:21:13

Okay.

00:21:13

And like they get stuck on 49 or they think they get 50, but they have Florida twice. And I'm like, well, if you knew the song, like you could do it instantly.

00:21:20

1000%. That would, I don't know this song all the way through. I feel like I could write down all 50 states. Do you not feel like you could?

00:21:29

Patreon? We should do that on Patreon.

00:21:30

Okay. Do you not feel like you could? Like if you had the time and—

00:21:33

Well, the episode of Friends is like, obviously we all know the states, but do you? Like subconsciously, it might actually be difficult to put pen to paper.

00:21:40

Okay, we're gonna do it.

00:21:42

I love that. Patreon.

00:21:43

Patreon.

00:21:44

Um, wait, there was one more thing. Oh, I did wanna thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support for Romeo. Um, he heard like all your cries. And the funny thing is Ben was like, it's not a big deal. Like, 'Cause we were planning on like leaving Romeo there for like a week or two. So Ben was like, by the time we pick him up, like we don't have to see him this way. But I forgot we're going there for Rosh Hashanah.

00:22:02

So— He's gonna be staring you right in the face.

00:22:04

Yeah, kind of unavoidable.

00:22:06

Take another picture. Maybe it's like better in person.

00:22:09

I told you that Maddie, Ben's sister, went and she was like, it's worse in person.

00:22:12

Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's like a naked mole rat.

00:22:16

Yeah. So that's— It's kind of a tough start to the year for Romeo, but I guess like it could only go up.

00:22:23

Yeah, no, hair grows back is the thing.

00:22:27

Oh, oh my God, you didn't even mention my haircut. I cut off 3 inches yesterday.

00:22:30

Sure you did.

00:22:30

Does it look different? I did.

00:22:32

Sure you did.

00:22:34

I literally did.

00:22:34

It looks great, but it always looks great. The place looks great.

00:22:37

Well, I told her, like, I come in and I'm so annoying. I'm like, I need like a total— like, I need to look exactly the same, but we have to cut a lot of hair off. And then I'm like, but not that much. So I did, I cut 3 inches, but my hair was really growing, so If you guys are wondering like what looks different about me today, that is what it is.

00:22:53

And I do love your patriotic sweatshirt. Thank you.

00:22:57

Um, I thought it was the right time to whip it out.

00:22:59

I love it.

00:23:00

Thank you.

00:23:00

I'm also— I'm wearing a turd back sweatshirt.

00:23:04

Turd back?

00:23:04

This is turd back. It's a mock neck.

00:23:08

I love a mock neck. It covers my double chin.

00:23:10

I feel cash for Friday.

00:23:12

Mock necks like are popular for a reason. Yeah, they're cool. I don't know if everyone buys mock necks like for the double chin enclosure. Yeah, but that's why I buy it and I love—

00:23:22

Yeah, I'm enjoying my experience.

00:23:25

It's nice. Um, so we have Dear Toast— no, not Dear Toast. We have Queenie and Weenie. Yeah, excuse me, because it is Friday. Um, and I hope everybody who's celebrating the Jewish holidays has— this is a good Jewish holiday. Like, it's a fun friends, family, food thing.

00:23:39

Oh yeah, it's gonna be great. I'm making a brisket.

00:23:41

This is an easy one.

00:23:42

I'm posting my new one, like, I'm so excited.

00:23:45

Yeah, the next one. Like, try not to let the upcoming holiday, like, kind of dim the light of this holiday. It's a beautiful holiday. It's a fresh start. And Shanah Tovah Umetukah.

00:23:55

Yeah. Okay, let's get into the Fast Five stories that Yiddidu need to know.

00:24:07

Okay.

00:24:08

Last night Ben said to me, and it was like bad and good because he was like, oh my God, your breath smells. And I was like, excuse me, you did not just say that to me. And he was like, yeah, and it's crazy cuz your breath never smells. Which made me feel so good. Like obviously he like couldn't get over the fact that I had smelly breath because it's so rare. Thank you, The Turd.

00:28:07

Can I ask you a question?

00:28:09

Thunder?

00:28:09

Is it thundering? I hear it in my headphones.

00:28:12

It is thundering. I don't know if it'll come up on the audio, but—

00:28:15

It's loud.

00:28:15

It gets crazy here in this season in Florida.

00:28:18

And have you made a chili yet?

00:28:20

No, no, I haven't, because I'm gearing up for my big brisket. Of course, of course. I can only like tear up the kitchen so many times in 2 days. Our first story is some crazy Aaron Rodgers news. Aaron Rodgers went on a podcast and just started slinging it.

00:28:39

Ripping it.

00:28:40

He let it rip. That's the headline.

00:28:43

He really did.

00:28:43

So where shall we begin? I'm going to start with Shailene because he made a wild claim that his ex-fiancée Shailene Woodley asked to sleep with someone else after he proposed to her. So in an episode of Not Just Football, with, um, clearly 2 hosts. One of them is his teammate Cam Hayward. So I think they're just—

00:29:08

What team is he on?

00:29:10

It's a great question.

00:29:11

Okay.

00:29:12

It's a great question, Koji. Could have been, you know, any teammate. Well, let's find out what team Cam—

00:29:17

I think Cam was on the Jets.

00:29:19

Then he's on the Steelers.

00:29:20

Steelers.

00:29:21

Still on the Steelers.

00:29:24

I didn't know he was on a team.

00:29:26

Yeah, he's on the Steelers.

00:29:28

Okay.

00:29:28

And okay, so Aaron's making friends on his team and he's giving him the tea.

00:29:31

That's always good, by the way.

00:29:32

Yes. So, um, he talked about proposing to Shailene Woodley and, um, what happened there. So he said that he proposed to Shailene and a week later she asked— like, she said she had to go fuck someone else.

00:29:52

In like a medical sense? She like had to?

00:29:55

No, like, I don't know. He didn't give specifics, right? Because I'm thinking like casting couch. Oh, that's what I'm thinking. Or like yachting, you know?

00:30:06

I'm thinking that like perhaps they had some sort of open situation.

00:30:14

Oh, maybe. But she said it like she had to.

00:30:17

She has to. Yeah, like that's a very— I don't know if he's like being intentional with his language.

00:30:21

Yeah, she said, she said yes when he proposed. A couple days after that, she tells me, before we get married, I get I gotta go fuck this guy. Oh, maybe it's like—

00:30:29

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, okay. So maybe it's like sort of a last hurrah, you know, perhaps the one that got away, just get it out of your system.

00:30:35

Yeah, that is sounding like that. It could be so many things, but initially I was like, she has to go fuck him for work or something.

00:30:41

Oh my God, you going casting couch is extremely dark.

00:30:45

I don't know, Hollywood's a crazy town.

00:30:47

Well, that's the other thing.

00:30:48

And the fact that she said it to him like it's so normal, like, gotta go.

00:30:52

As normal individuals ourselves, and I think our listeners can probably relate, like, this sounds crazy. That's not what people do. But you have to understand, like, people in Hollywood are genuinely abnormal. And I think Shailene Woodley specifically is like probably on the more extreme end of like the crazy, like just kind of quirky Hollywood things. So none of this really surprises me. And yeah, I'm choosing to see this as her like needing to get it out of her system one last time before she embarks on— And I don't know, It's not like she did it behind his back.

00:31:21

Yeah, so he said she took off her ring in March 2021. We had a couple times where we tried to get reunited and nothing ever happened. Um, there wasn't even a relationship in 2022 to break off. She literally told me, I don't want to be with you, after we tried some reconciliation in 2021. Um, and then he talked about the fact that she had like given an interview like saying that like the relationship like left her very depressed. Um, and he sort of clapped back at that saying, Shai, you left me, you took the ring off. Her story is that I ruined her life and gave her crazy depression because I left her. What are we talking about, me ruining your life?

00:32:01

The fact that these two ever at one point like thought they were compatible is crazy because—

00:32:06

Nobody thought they were more compatible than us.

00:32:08

Yeah, but we were just sort of blinded by their friendship with Kelly and Miles Teller, like And the adversity that that brings. Right, at their core, like, she's this sort of earthy— isn't she one of those who gave up all of her material possessions? And he's this sort of like loudmouth football player. Seriously, what the fuck are they doing together?

00:32:24

He is earthy, Claudia.

00:32:26

And he does have the earth component.

00:32:28

He does. And he does ayahuasca, and he's sort of like, like rage against the government. Like, they— there is a Venn diagram there with a hearty center.

00:32:38

Yeah, that's true. Um, I guess just hindsight, the gift of hindsight, it's like obviously these two were never gonna work out, but we, we choose to see the best in people. Like, I think a lot of people thought we were crazy that we thought Kim and Pete were gonna get married. It's like, sorry, we just choose to believe in love.

00:32:54

Yeah, every time.

00:32:55

And I won't apologize for that.

00:32:56

And I don't wanna change that about myself.

00:33:00

And I find that while not all of our predictions and opinions come to light, especially the unpopular ones. I find that these days I feel even more comfortable in my unpopular opinions because more often than not, like, time is on our side.

00:33:17

Time is on our side.

00:33:18

You know who I feel like recently we've been like vindicated on?

00:33:23

No.

00:33:24

Sophia Franklin. At the time, like, we weren't even— we didn't even take sides. We were just like— we weren't like gobbling up everything. Every time Alex Cooper put something out, people were like, that's my girl boss queen, oh my God, she's everything. And we were like, wait, this is kind of mean. Or like, wait, Maybe Sofia does need more money. Like, we were just like, I think coming at it from a very rational place, which was sort of questioning like whether all of this was in good faith. And then like the suit guy stuff. And now everyone's like, yeah, that was bad. It's like, oh my God, you guys were eating that shit up. And we like took some heat for not being like up Alex Cooper's ass at the time. And you know what? I feel that time has vindicated us.

00:33:59

I agree that time is on our side. And I'm a patient person.

00:34:04

Yeah.

00:34:05

You know, I'll wait.

00:34:07

Yeah, I feel that, uh, just a little bit of a prediction. I think that time will be on our side in, in due time. I think it'll be a while with Lindsay Clancy.

00:34:15

Oh, for sure. I feel— oh my, that was a crazy thing from this 2001 Live account.

00:34:20

Yes.

00:34:21

They were talking about Andrea Yates. I mean, they're also posting things that are topical to the future.

00:34:26

It's not just about 9/11.

00:34:28

No, no, it's just, it's crazy. They do this account 25 years ago, and now they've hit the day of 9/11, 2001, so it's just getting extra eyeballs. But they also had posted Andrea Yates's legal defense team was mounting a defense of postpartum depression, and they posted the news clip and everything. And Andrea Yates was the woman who drowned her 5 kids in the bathtub, who was hated by the entire country, and the idea that she would ever have sympathy or get off is ludicrous. But she was trying to say the same thing.

00:34:53

Those were the days, by the way, when we hated women who killed their children. That's how I know I'm not of this time.

00:34:57

I'm not appreciative of my own time. That is very black and white to me, and I'm okay with that.

00:35:02

1,000%. Like, the jury deliberated for like 45 minutes.

00:35:06

Yeah. Did you see that tweet that's like— that actually sums up—

00:35:09

Wait, are you seeing the jurors?

00:35:13

The jurors.

00:35:13

Okay, so here's the thing, is that everyone wants to chat with the one juror, and I'm gathering that he doesn't want to go public, which isn't which is completely his right. That photo of him has been leaked.

00:35:25

Oh, I didn't see.

00:35:27

Oh, I did. He's just a young guy. I won't give too many identifying details, 'cause his anonymity after being a civil servant is his right and it's his privilege. So I'm getting the vibe that he's not gonna speak out because while half the country thinks he's a hero, half the country thinks he's the devil. So we are hearing from the sort of irrelevant jurors, and it's like, well, that's all fine and good, 'cause it's like O.J. Every single person on that jury ended up writing a bestselling novel. Kind of being on a high-profile jury is kind of a get-out-of-jail-free card. Like, you can end up making a lot of money and becoming famous. Um, I don't think we're gonna hear from him.

00:36:02

Yeah, or maybe not immediately.

00:36:03

Who would want that? It's like, you had to be a fucking juror because like it's your job, it's your requirement as a citizen. You guys don't like what I have to say, now I have to explain myself? Like, seriously, I wouldn't.

00:36:13

Yeah, no, the jurors from what I've seen like really aren't helping themselves.

00:36:19

Not a compelling group.

00:36:20

Not a compelling group. And they were like, we'd try and talk to him and he'd be scrolling on his phone.

00:36:26

Like, yeah, by the way, I can't believe they had their phones in deliberation either. No, did you see the one woman who was like— and this guy, he just like couldn't get over the fact that Lindsay Clancy viciously killed her children, and she said it as if it was like such an inconvenience. And it's like, well, yeah, you could. Yeah, so what you're saying is you could.

00:36:40

Yeah, like that's an aside. He couldn't get over this fact in, in pursuit of these facts.

00:36:44

And the thing is, is like being a juror is seriously a thankless job. I don't know why anyone would come forward, especially in a case like this. Like, seriously, I did my job, my civic duty, Leave me alone.

00:36:55

Yeah, unless, you know, he has an itch for the spotlight because he would have a lot of people on his side.

00:37:01

He would become like a very polarizing political figure.

00:37:04

Yeah, and there's an itch for that, you know.

00:37:07

But I wouldn't, like, seriously, I did my job, you guys, like this, I believe what I believe, like, leave me alone.

00:37:12

Well, it just would depend like how my, how my life is going otherwise.

00:37:15

Like, could I use a little jolt of success, or do I have like a nice life?

00:37:19

I wouldn't change a thing.

00:37:22

Right.

00:37:23

Yeah.

00:37:27

Um, so how did we get here?

00:37:28

Other things Aaron Rodgers said.

00:37:31

Oh, right.

00:37:32

Uh, he also railed on Danica Patrick.

00:37:35

Oh, I don't love that because I think that of all of his lady loves, like, she had the— him and her, like, she's the one that got away.

00:37:41

No, he said, I dated Danica. She had just retired. She was depressed and not fun to be around. But I, but I didn't leave her because I was trying to be there and be a good partner. Then it was going a certain direction. Obviously there was no intimacy, there was nothing. Oh my God.

00:37:58

Oh my God. I actually really like hate this.

00:38:00

He's like, I don't know what like truth serum he decided to—

00:38:03

He just woke up and chose violence.

00:38:05

Yeah, he really did. He said, and I'm buying a house in Malibu. And she goes, would you wanna buy it together? And I said, no.

00:38:12

Oh my God. He's literally the devil.

00:38:14

And he said, so she tells a story that I was so blindsided by getting like left by you and he leaves a trail of blood around. I'm like, what are you talking about? That's not what happened by any means. Um, she had called him emotionally abusive, adding that the relationship wore her down to nothing, said he leaves a trail of blood. Um, and he was like, no. And he's saying pretty much with Danica, there's her story— trail of blood, blindsided, there's zero intimacy, didn't want to buy a house, there's really nothing there. Then I date Shailene. And again, I feel like this needs to be told because there's just narratives out there, which by the way, forever what people hit me on all the time was he's such a fucking asshole even his family.

00:38:49

Well, he's not helping the allegations against him.

00:38:52

There's an interesting tidbit in this interview that I think explains like why all of his girlfriends are like running away crying.

00:38:58

Well, but I don't understand. He like sat down for this interview to sort of rebuke the asshole allegations and he's leading by being an asshole.

00:39:04

Yes. So basically in here it also shares that he is married right now to a very private girl.

00:39:10

Oh, right.

00:39:11

He's married right now to a very private girl named Brittany. But he apparently met Brittany in 2017, and she then moved to Europe. He said he was plagued by regrets of not begging her to stay or proposing, which sent him into a tailspin during his relationship with Danica. So the whole time between when he met Brittany and when he married Brittany, I think he's hung up on Brittany. So that would explain why Danica— All of his relationships, yeah. And Shailene and everyone felt like abandoned and Right, he was depressed by their relationship with him because he wasn't there.

00:39:45

I don't know. I know he came on to dispel all those rumors, but like, I believe them now. And he's like almost admitting to it, being like, yeah, I was in love with another girl. So yeah, that will leave Danica depressed.

00:39:55

Yes, and Shaylee.

00:39:56

That is emotionally abusive to stay in a relationship with someone when you're literally in love with someone else.

00:40:00

Yeah.

00:40:01

So thanks for clearing all that up. Not in the way that you thought you did.

00:40:05

Yeah.

00:40:05

He's just mean. Like, Danica, she was depressed. Like, seriously, like, have less compassion.

00:40:11

I know.

00:40:11

It's fucking crazy.

00:40:14

It's a crazy interview. To me though, the most shocking thing that he said is about Shailene, like, that she asked to fuck someone else.

00:40:20

Oh no, the whole thing. Like, and I just want to say, I actually believe like that that did happen, um, but just, I think I need to hear from Shailene.

00:40:28

Yeah, because I don't think that Aaron is a liar. I think that he's in Aaron's world and he sees things from like Aaron's perfect perception, and like he doesn't realize that his girlfriends are depressed and that Like, because of him. And then they're like, oh, she's a bore. Like, but it's like you're doing the thing that's making her act that way.

00:40:44

Yeah, he's like with this dark cloud. It's like, well, why is the cloud there? Maybe it's because you're emotionally abusive and mean. Like, I'm in love with someone else, right? What came first, the cloud or you?

00:40:54

Right. So that's what's going on with Aaron Rodgers. He also talked a little bit about his family, that they are reconciled, that that was in part due to his wife, his new wife. Like, encouraging him and just showing him the importance of like love and family.

00:41:10

Lovely, lovely, lovely.

00:41:12

So, um, yeah, Aaron Rodgers decided to let it rip.

00:41:14

It's crazy.

00:41:17

Our next story, some exciting news for country music fans. Taylor Swift confirms she'll be attending the CMA Awards 2026 after a 10-year absence.

00:41:25

So she shared— Oh, I'm just sorry, wait, wait, I just say one thing. I just need to get my prediction out like before. She shared on her Instagram— oh, sorry. I'm cutting you off again. Go.

00:41:33

So she shared on her Instagram the fact that she was nominated for Single of the Year, I Knew It, I Knew You, and she wrote on top, looks like I haven't yeeted my last haw. Thank you, CMA. See you there November 18th.

00:41:46

Um, my prediction— like, that's obviously a lyric, it looks like I haven't yeeted my last haw, something like that. Um, so here's what I think is gonna go down, because she was talking— she recently did an interview at the Grammy Museum where she said as she gets older and like more experienced in her songwriting, she finds herself more consistently going back to her country music roots. So her next album is obviously country. She will obviously be announcing it at the CMA Awards, and that's a lyric, yeez my ha, or something like—

00:42:11

I love that. I hope that's true.

00:42:12

Yeah, me too. I mean, I Knew It, I Knew You is legit a country song. It's a banger. And I feel like that was sort of like a throwaway song from like the bottom of her catalog that she like gave to Tom Hanks. Um, so I'm looking forward to like a well-thought-out country album, 100%. I believe that's what's happening.

00:42:26

Okay, like, great, slay. Do you think that she will win this category because she's attending?

00:42:32

Like, no, even though CMA does give like the fake type of award where it's like if Taylor Swift shows up, they're obviously gonna give it to her.

00:42:37

But for Song of the Year, it's like too important. Sorry, you can't just like give it also as a charity case.

00:42:43

And I love Taylor Swift, and I can make the case that like any award she gets nominated for, she should win. The song came out 35 seconds ago. Um, it can't be the Song of the Year when it just came out.

00:42:51

And like, does it play on the radio? Like, I listen to it because I have toddlers. And you listen to it because you're a Swiftie, but like, is it an actual song? It's just from the movie.

00:43:00

And Song of the Year, yeah, it can't come from a cinema soundtrack.

00:43:04

Well, it could if it's like Let It Go, you know, but that took over the world, right? This song didn't take over the world.

00:43:10

No, it's just a good song.

00:43:11

It's just a good song for a movie. The moms love it, the kids love it, like we're having fun.

00:43:14

No, I think nominating her is like definitely a stretch, but I do think if she's gonna announce the album She has to win so she can get her ass up there.

00:43:24

Or she announces the album like before she puts out a single and she performs it at the CMA Awards.

00:43:29

Oh, so cute. I'm so here for Taylor's like CMA era. I think she also like now is living most of the time in—

00:43:37

Kansas City. St. Louis?

00:43:38

Oh, thank you. Yeah, St. Louis. I got confused, like Missouri. I'm in Kansas City. I think it's probably like easier to get to Nashville than LA. So like if Nashville becomes her new like musical base, Like, I just think being a country artist is like very good for travel. It's a little bit more central for her lifestyle.

00:43:54

But also, I feel like if she's going back into country music, like, the female country music space is a lot more competitive now than it was when she was coming up. Not that she still wouldn't have been the number one girl, but like, it's competitive. It is.

00:44:09

But I do think that— and all the young girls, when we talk about like Megan Maroney, Ella Langley— when Like, they— Taylor walked so they could run. Like, she's really— and a lot of them like try to cross over, do girl pop, and a lot of them successfully do. And like, Taylor is the trailblazer in that.

00:44:27

Oh, for sure. But if you're putting out— So it's sort of like a country, female country album, like, we are going to judge that album like, do I want to listen to this or Megan Maroney, Lainey Wilson, Kacey Musgraves, Ella Langley?

00:44:39

1,000%. No, no, she's—

00:44:42

will be done. But of course she's the greatest success of all time.

00:44:44

No, and country is like real music. Like it's lots of live instruments, live vocals.

00:44:49

Sex, surf, and strings.

00:44:50

No, no, I mean like a lot of music in pop is like literally made on a computer. Like it's not real music. Whereas like country music is like live instruments, live vocals. Like you can't be a bad singer if you're a country singer because it's sort of like talent-driven. Not that, and honestly not all industries are, genres, excuse me. So I think that Taylor's sort of ripe for a country album 'cause she's like instrument girl. And songwriting is like so freaking difficult.

00:45:15

No, but it's like a very full circle, and she's gone out there and she's conquered the world and she's done all these different genres, but she's country at her core. And like, eventually she's coming home.

00:45:22

Oh, I didn't know that we were waiting for her to come home. Obviously, like, I've been holding out. I've been like, Taylor Swift for country music is my personal dream. I didn't honestly know it was a possibility.

00:45:31

No, everyone comes home, Claudia.

00:45:34

She always like dangles, like she threw Betty in there. Betty's a country song. Um, I didn't know, and obviously we don't know this to be true, but I'm assuming that it is. Like, if we get a country Taylor Swift album, like, I will be extremely, extremely happy. I'll probably be as happy as I am when I get Taylor's, like, first album after having a baby.

00:45:50

Yeah.

00:45:51

Like, those are the things I'm waiting for in the Taylor Swift universe.

00:45:54

All in time, Codriel.

00:45:57

All in time.

00:45:58

Are you ready for our next story?

00:46:00

I am.

00:46:01

Paige and Tommy Paul's Connecticut home has been profiled in Architectural Digest.

00:46:06

Digest. Digest.

00:46:08

Um, the photos are parsed. So this is major because Paige and Tommy have, you know, settled into their marital home.

00:46:15

Yes, I, I could tell on her Instagram, like, she doesn't share like a ton of personal, but some of her backdrops have changed. And then like—

00:46:23

She said she moved and she posted like her old house was for sale. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

00:46:27

Oh, oh, I was just like noticing that she had like a couple of people over for the weekend over the summer, and I was like, oh, new house.

00:46:32

Yeah, and she had like shared like little things here and there of like, you know, her kitchen tiles that are like Dairy Boy inspired, her splash, but not like much. Um, and the much is here in the form of Architectural Digest spread.

00:46:45

It's a compound in Connecticut. Of course there's a tennis court for Tommy.

00:46:48

Of course there's chickens for our dairy girl.

00:46:51

It's very— I don't even know what style this is. It's like party girl farmhouse cottagecore. It's like the aesthetic that she's really, um, sort of like become known for.

00:47:02

Americana heritage.

00:47:04

Yeah, like it's not girly, it's like feminine, and it's not like pink, but it's lots of patterns. It's very beautiful.

00:47:12

It's also like antique.

00:47:14

Yes, yes. It's not crazy modern.

00:47:17

Not at all.

00:47:18

No. I just feel that— and you know what's so funny is that I saw—

00:47:21

New England nostalgia.

00:47:23

New England nostalgia. I saw her on Morgan Stewart's podcast, and you know, I really appreciated the context because it does feel like in the last like year or two, like something has shifted in Paige's overall branding. Like I feel like she went from being like an influencer with like a successful fashion brand to being like a true— I don't even know what to call her— like celebrity socialite trendsetter. Like she, to me, and people are gonna think this is crazy, but I think for like a digital generation, she's very much like a Hailey Bieber. Um, and it just feels like everything has leveled up so much for her. And she said that like a year or two ago, she finally brought on like a partner to run Dairy Boy. Like, I think he's like the CEO. It's someone that she knows. He has equity in the company. And she was like, you know, you can have something smaller that you own outright, or you can have something huge that you share and let people in on. And I do feel like it marked like a real like upgrade for her.

00:48:13

Yeah.

00:48:14

Where she like totally blew up bigger than she was before.

00:48:17

No, I think it's been like a perfect storm for her and not an accidental storm.

00:48:22

Right.

00:48:22

Of like her relationship and her wedding and her brand and her content and like everything just like firing on all cylinders to create a princess.

00:48:33

And then Taylor Fritz breaking up with the other blonde tennis wag like didn't hurt either.

00:48:36

Oh, it just cleared the runway.

00:48:38

Yeah, it cemented her as the queen of tennis. And what's so funny is that Tommy Paul got out like 2 rounds ago and then last round Paige went. I was like, she is like, she's an influencer celebrity. So like, that's what you do. But like, I thought that when Tommy was out, like she wouldn't come anymore, but she did like a great job. Greggs partnership and she like had the suite and she walked the carpet. It's like, yeah girl, go.

00:48:57

Yeah, you gotta brand. Brand's gonna brand, right? Um, so yeah, check out the pictures, very cute. Do they usually do a video? Are we like gonna be doing— sometimes, uh, that was like Mr. and Mrs. Property did a video.

00:49:12

Yeah, I know, Zooey Deschanel and the Property X, I don't know. Um, sometimes but not always.

00:49:18

It'd be nice to see a video.

00:49:20

It would be nice to be there.

00:49:21

But the place looks great. Like real, real sickening.

00:49:25

Real actives.

00:49:26

Real actives. Oh yeah, and the chickens and the tennis court. It's just party.

00:49:30

It is. It's really, it's some classy shit.

00:49:33

Yeah, and AD is like major, you know? So this is another—

00:49:36

Major.

00:49:37

Another like major and legit notch in her belt. You know, she's just Paige Paul to the moon.

00:49:46

Paige Paul to the moon. Yeah.

00:49:50

00:55:36

Thank you, turdster time.

00:55:38

You're welcome.

00:55:39

Turdster time. Our next story, Brooke Snider defends going topless in front of her dad in those viral photos. She said he didn't even notice. So Brooke Snider isn't thinking twice about going topless in front of her father. As we all remember, photos, paparazzi photos of Brooke on a yacht topless—

00:55:55

There are some things you don't forget.

00:55:57

Those photos took the world by storm.

00:55:58

Like, we're always— As they should.

00:56:00

No, but like, we're just on like Snider alerts. Like, everything Brooke does, every paparazzi photo like we consume it, but those were like insane. Yeah. Um, so on Thursday, Entertainment Tonight shared an interview with Brooksy where she explained why her controversial swim isn't something that her family even thinks twice about. She said, I had the time of my freaking life. I don't care if I'm not from Europe, I'm from Louisiana.

00:56:28

She said, uh, like, okay, next time somebody asks me why I did something, I'm just gonna say I'm from Louisiana.

00:56:33

She said, I grew up in an all-girls household. We're always naked together.

00:56:37

sisters.

00:56:37

She insisted that her father wasn't fazed by her lack of clothing. She said, my dad's half blind, so he didn't even notice. He was like, I don't care. He has selective hearing and selective seeing. I was just having the time of my life and really not thinking that anyone was documenting some of it, but we love it. It's great.

00:56:54

Um, you know that Brooks is one of my mentors and I stand on her shoulders. Um, unfortunately, she's—

00:57:01

That's true. You should I think she should stand tall.

00:57:04

No, because I think that part of a healthy mentor-mentee relationship is like being able to disagree peacefully, of course. Um, and Brooks is genuinely like never in her life gonna convince me that this wasn't weird. Now I understand she has a duty to defend herself, her family, of course. It's not working.

00:57:22

It's not working. I just, I don't know what it's like to be Brooks Nader, you know?

00:57:28

I do.

00:57:29

So I could see a world in which Brooks is right. And if you watch the show, like, they really are like that.

00:57:36

Yes. And I also do think as a full-time model, and this is something I can speak to like from experience, is you are very disconnected from your physical body. Like, it's, it's not sexual, it's sort of like just there. And so while obviously I think that this is crazy, I do see a world in which like somebody who's like modeling full-time is constantly being like poked, prodded, photographed, like very objectified. I do think, I do see a world in which how that can really disconnect you from your physical body.

00:58:03

Yes. And also it's like, I, my, you know, the way I think about this is so different from how Brooks thinks about it. Like, because I would be like, oh my God, how dare they take those photos of me? Like how dare—

00:58:13

You're focused on the like invasion of privacy.

00:58:15

No.

00:58:15

Yeah.

00:58:15

And the fact that that doesn't even cross her mind.

00:58:16

She's like, we're having a ball.

00:58:18

Like she's just like, she's free and—

00:58:20

She's very free, like, like free spirited.

00:58:22

And her and her sisters are constantly like topless, naked and running around. And her parents are always there because they're they're like supportive parents that love them. So if they're always topless naked and they're always there, then they're going to be topless naked together.

00:58:34

I saw the most annoying clip of Grace-Ann Nader. She was like at some US Open suite and like, uh, the brand was like asking her questions. They were like, who do you think is going to go further on Dancing with the Stars, Sarah-Jane Nader or Brooks? And she just like is such a Brooks hater, so of course she said Sarah-Jane, even though literally like people are boycotting Sarah-Jane because she's like— people don't know who she is. So it's like, well, I think Sarah-Jane's gonna go further because Like, she's gonna be less distracted. It was just like such an annoying fucking thing to say, especially given the fact like what we now know about Gleb is like he's legit evil and he's not on the season. I don't know if he was fired. He should be fired. Like, HR, Hulu, ABC. But it's like, she's so annoying.

00:59:11

Yeah, that's crazy.

00:59:11

Like, if I'm Brooks and I see that, like, I wanna slap my sister. Like, you're only at the US Open 'cause of me, bitch.

00:59:16

You could. I mean, they do literally have those conversations and fight it out. I know, I love it.

00:59:20

My favorite conversations.

00:59:21

They move on and just continue to operate like that. But you could say like Sarah-Jane's gonna go further just 'cause you're trying to support Sarah-Jane and just be like, 'cause like, you know, she's training, like she's working really hard or she really loves dance. Like—

00:59:32

It was an annoying answer.

00:59:34

Yeah. If Grace Anne has no haters who also like love her but hate her, you are dead.

00:59:43

No.

00:59:43

Who else hates her?

00:59:45

I don't fall into that category of people who like hate her but also love her. I just hate her.

00:59:49

I was just like trying to like soften it because that's like your mentor sister.

00:59:56

Did I ever tell you guys that I was on the same flight as Graceann Nader? It was so awkward. The thing is, like, I think she genuinely had no idea who I was, which like I'm grateful for. And it wasn't a commercial flight, it was like one of these like, like semi-private, so it was like literally 10 people on the plane. Um, I, I actually wanted to be dead.

01:00:12

Why? Because like you've talked so much shit?

01:00:15

We had just recapped Love Thy Nader, and it's like I loved the show, but I was always like just kind of like hating on Grace And by the way, they set up the show like that. Like, clearly Grace is like meant to be the villain. So sorry, I was just like watching and recapping your show, but it was terrible. Like, seriously terrible.

01:00:29

Oh, I thought that like you felt like you love the Naders. That includes Grace.

01:00:34

I do.

01:00:34

That includes Grace.

01:00:35

I love the Naders as a whole, yes.

01:00:37

But that you like, you hate Grace.

01:00:39

She's my least favorite.

01:00:40

So like there is—

01:00:40

I don't hate anyone, by the way. Hate is a strong word. Yeah, I get it. And I don't wanna perpetuate hate.

01:00:45

Yeah, no.

01:00:45

Like, I have the most criticisms of her as like a sister model and individual, Like, she's your opp. She's my opp. And like, I never find anything like that she does to be redeemable. Like, she's never like, but I love Brooks. Like, I just— I don't know, she— I feel like they all take from Brooks, but like, of course they all give to Brooks. I just feel like she's like a taker.

01:01:03

Yeah, yeah.

01:01:06

Okay, okay.

01:01:09

So yeah, Brooks doesn't care.

01:01:12

No, she doesn't. And that's why we love her, and that's why I stand proudly on her shoulders.

01:01:15

Yeah, it's that that you take away from your mentor.

01:01:21

Yes.

01:01:21

Are you ready for our 5th and final story? I don't know if you've seen this yet.

01:01:24

Breaking news, maybe?

01:01:26

Uh, no, it's from yesterday.

01:01:28

I've definitely seen it.

01:01:29

I just saw it. Sophie Cunningham seemingly drops her podcast. Of course, of course. So Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham is getting back into podcasting, and it appears she will do so without her friend and longtime, longtime co-host. Like, year-long co-host. co-host.

01:01:43

5-day co-host.

01:01:45

Sophie Cunningham is back with world-renowned basketball player Drew Hanlon, read a message from her podcast X account on Thursday. New episodes dropping every Thursday, with episode 1 dropping later today. With who's your co-host? Drew Hanlon.

01:01:59

She a WNBA player also?

01:02:01

Is it a she or a he?

01:02:02

Oh, that's a great question.

01:02:04

World-renowned basketball trainer. Sorry, because I was like, oh cool, I I was— Drew Hanlon Gackaba.

01:02:12

I think it's a girl.

01:02:12

It's a man.

01:02:13

Okay, great.

01:02:14

It's a man. Um, the podcast, which was previously called Show Me Something, has been rebranded as No Hesitation.

01:02:25

Now, there was really never much interest in their podcast until Sophie Cunningham started to speak. Like, she only recently became, at least to me as not a WNBA a fan or watcher. She only recently became sort of a figure in pop culture recently. It's because she's made some— she gives her takes on the whole trans athletes conversation, which is obviously very divisive. And she speaks very bluntly and matter-of-factly, just being like, I don't think it should be allowed. And I think a lot of people were talking about this and people from my world were talking about it being like, well, what does this mean for Wes? Because Wes is very progressive. I feel like he kind of uses his progressivism as a shield a lot of the times, being like, I can't hate women. I love women. My mom's an OB-GYN. And so a lot of us were like, oh, you know what, this dumb podcast you guys have had, which has literally made no sense, I'm kind of looking forward to the next episode. They have not released an episode since her statements. Like, they literally were never even spotted together. So a lot of people are like, West dropped her, she dropped West.

01:03:25

I actually would have really liked to have listened to a podcast between the two of them.

01:03:29

We should have had a debate. Bring back debates.

01:03:32

Just because you disagree heavily with somebody on a random certain topic doesn't mean you can't host a podcast together.

01:03:38

For sure. The difference is that like he sort of went out there and like turned on her, you know?

01:03:45

Well, that's the thing. It's like she decided to host a podcast with you when you were like literally like shit on the shoe of a hobo. Like you— she lifted you up and that was before she was even considered controversial.

01:03:55

She didn't make a video being like, you should never steal your friend's wife and boyfriend and your ex-girlfriend. You know what I mean? We can all feel that she wouldn't agree with what he did, but like, you, you just sort of like stand by your friend and say nothing really.

01:04:11

When things got tough for him, she was just there.

01:04:13

She never like spoke out against him or anything like that. And nobody needed to know what Wes Wilson thinks about trans athletes in women's sports. We actually—

01:04:21

We could guess what he thinks.

01:04:22

We actually need to know like what female athletes think about it. That's like the person that you want to hear from on the topic.

01:04:27

No, but podcast is supposed to be interesting conversation, and I think that like Yeah, these two people who are seemingly so fucking random, I don't even know how they got paired up together. I feel like for the first time ever, like, I actually would be interested to hear what these two would say.

01:04:39

And it would be more respectable of him to like go on their podcast and be like, wow, you're in the news for having said this, you know, I really, I don't agree with that. And like, and like call her out to her face and have a conversation. But him like going and making a video about her that she can't respond to in real time, and he's just like using all these like woke-isms to make everyone feel good, saying that this is not a non-existent issue. This is a real issue for her. So that's the first offense. You're gonna say something that's an issue for me is not an issue? I'm living it, you're not. No.

01:05:09

And it's like, it's so uninteresting to talk about. This is a person you literally made us listen to your episodes with for months, and it's like now's the first time ever where actually I think you two might have something worth, uh, hearing, and he just makes a video. It's so cowardly. It's so Wes. Like, what have we learned about him from this whole saga? He's literally the definition of a coward. Like, he can't have a conversation with someone, he can't be honest, he's a liar. So like, yeah, this tracks, but it would have been actually like a nice opportunity for civil discourse.

01:05:37

Yeah, that's— that would be cool because people, we're so polarized now that like 2 people who like fundamentally disagree about something, like they would never—

01:05:43

they have to part ways.

01:05:44

I know. And they would never wind up in the same room or like on the same conversation, um, in a meaningful way. You know, sometimes on the news they'll have like 2 people and like, yeah, no one can get a word in. But like, actually, if like the 2 friends sat down and like the way they always do, 2 podcast hosts who disagree about something, like try to like talk it out, that would be revolutionary. That's just like, that's debate. That's good healthy debate.

01:06:07

Yeah, it's really lame that this ended like this, shook out how it did.

01:06:12

No, but it's not lame of her because let me tell you, if someone did that to me—

01:06:16

Well, we don't know, I guess. Yeah, we don't know what happened behind the scenes, but yeah, I guess he did make that video. Um, he's just like so obsessed with like people's approval, which is crazy because he ended up doing something that like—

01:06:25

Because he wound up being the most hated man in America.

01:06:28

Yeah, like oops. But like to take it to social media and the public like before your friend, especially like she decided to work with him publicly after he was the most hated man in America, like that takes balls.

01:06:41

Yeah, and also I just want to say like when Sophie Cunningham said what she said about the issue of trans athletes. Like, I don't think anyone really needed to hear from West. What, what does West think about trans athletes, you know?

01:06:57

No, I want to know what West thinks about his cousin. Like, there's a lot of things I need to hear from Wes Wilson about.

01:07:03

Yeah, but he's just like not relevant to the conversation. So for him to throw her under the bus, which is what he did, like, yeah, She seems like she doesn't suffer any fools, you know?

01:07:16

She's fine.

01:07:17

Yeah.

01:07:18

Let's dive into our final segment of the week, Queenie and Weenie of the Week. Just a great way to wrap up the week. If you're new here, every Friday our very last segment is something we call Queenie and Weenie of the Week. It's a childhood game we used to play, um, that was borderline traumatizing, but we've taken our power back.

01:07:31

Now we can traumatize others with it. Yes!

01:07:34

Queenie and Weenie of the Week. Who acted like a queenie this week and who acted like a weenie this week? We'll start with Queenie.

01:07:39

Yes, my Queenie is very obvious. It is Alex Earle and her family. It is the Earle family. They put on a jolly good show. Um, really—

01:07:49

You see her on The Tonight Show last night?

01:07:51

Uh, I saw that she was on it, but I didn't— Jimmy Fallon, but I didn't—

01:07:53

with Matthew McConaughey.

01:07:54

Oh, cute. Um, the show exceeded my expectations. I think they've got what it takes, and I am really proud of them. And she's just been like really a joy to follow as a pop culture commentator. I enjoy Alix Earle on the radar.

01:08:12

She was also in the mix for me for Queenie because it was definitely her week. The show was great. She's carried herself with such grace. Sometimes a lot of people like force their families onto us like when they're becoming famous, and it's like, you know, we are all set. Um, but I think the way that they've done it has been like very organic. I totally agree. But actually, she's not my Queenie. My Queenie is somebody who went through so much this week and like is sort of facing adversity in a beautiful way. Graceful.

01:08:35

Romeo.

01:08:36

And that's Romeo, yeah. And he provided us with so much content. Like, people were cracking up. Like, when I saw the picture, I'm like, are other people gonna think this is as funny as I think it is? And it turns out that they do. So Romeo, he gave us content, he gave us engagement, and for that we have to respect the pig.

01:08:49

He sacrificed Ro self and Ro ears.

01:08:51

Exactly.

01:08:52

Yeah, and Ro back.

01:08:54

Now, my weenie of the week is a little delayed.

01:08:58

Ro back.

01:08:58

Yeah, Ro back. My weenie of the week is a little delayed because we weren't able to give this individual Weenie of the Week when it happened, so I'm going like posthumously giving this to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

01:09:13

It's true, they haven't been anointed yet.

01:09:15

And I know they think that they got away with moving when they did so that they wouldn't be Weenie of the Week, but the Official Meghan Markle Prince Harry Watchdog Podcast lets sleeping— no sleeping dogs lie.

01:09:24

Yeah, that is beautiful. I'm glad that you brought that up because honestly Honestly, it slipped for me. It would've slipped. What was yours? I was gonna give it to the Biermann family.

01:09:36

Oh, but see—

01:09:37

Because I was thinking like family and family, and I know crimes—

01:09:41

We always say like, if you have done something criminal, you're not a Weenie of the Week. Of course, 'cause like we minimize—

01:09:45

It would be Lindsay Clancy, would be the Weenie of the Week. Right, right.

01:09:47

But like it minimizes what you've done by like calling you a weenie.

01:09:50

Okay, but no, but you're right because Meghan and Harry need to be Weenie of the Week due to—

01:09:53

There's so many parts of it that make it Weenie of the Week.

01:09:55

Due to the weenie nature of what they did and—

01:09:58

Charles's statement, like every part of it gets them the nomination.

01:10:03

I keep seeing like these clips and I'm actually seeing it from both like hater accounts and fan accounts. Like I'll see like Meghan fan accounts post clips of her from like their docuseries or whatever being like, what a queen. But like I'm just watching the clip. Um, it's really crazy. Like the, uh, I'm sure you've seen the curtsy, the curtsy clip.

01:10:24

Oh yes, a lot of footage from— I saw the Beyoncé texted me one.

01:10:28

I just saw that one, but I saw it from a positive content creator who was like, how sweet their friendship is.

01:10:33

But like, no, the curtsy was so rude.

01:10:36

Yeah, I saw a scene where like she's sort of railing on William because I guess—

01:10:40

I saw that too. Uh, and that's your brother.

01:10:42

She's like, I'm not gonna say anything because that's your brother, but like you're saying something. And like, sure, talk shit about your brother, sure, but not on camera. Yeah, like, because I guess like William's aide put something out and that's William, you know?

01:10:58

Yeah, I saw that clip too.

01:11:01

Um, the clips are not aging well is all I'll say.

01:11:04

No, no. And that's something I feel joyful about, you speaking of time vindicating us. When that came out, I feel we've also been vindicated about Meghan Markle. Yeah, people were like eating her shit up and we were like, don't you feel like you should keep your shit private?

01:11:18

Right. And I'm, you know, and people are like, you guys are so evil. I'm team Queenie.

01:11:25

I'm team like, keep your private business private, seriously.

01:11:30

But I'm a Queenie stan, so of course that's where I stay.

01:11:34

Like, her naming the daughter Lilibet after like seriously destroying the Queen's reputation, like the Queen's final years. Yeah, yeah, it's insane.

01:11:40

I love that.

01:11:42
