In this episode of The Level Up Podcast, Paul Alex Espinoza explains why a prospect saying yes is not the same as a finished sale. He separates customer interest, a real agreement, and the completed steps needed before work begins, and argues that a positive conversation needs a clear finish.
He recommends confirming the scope of work, required information, payment arrangements, and start date while both sides are engaged. When an agreed payment is missing, he suggests checking whether the invoice reached the right person and whether anything remains unclear before assuming a problem.
Listeners will also hear why expected income should be tracked separately from money actually collected.

Welcome to the Level Up Podcast. I'm your host, Paul Alex. I went from being a cop to an 8-figure entrepreneur that helps average people like you and me make money every single day. I created this podcast to help you get motivated and to crush your goals. Let's win together.
Remember, I have your 6. Get ready to level up right now.
What's up everyone? Welcome back to the Level Up Podcast. I'm Paul Alex, And today we're talking about a moment that can fool you. A prospect says they want to work with you. You're excited.
You're already counting the money, but the details aren't settled. The payment hasn't arrived, and you don't know what happens next. A positive conversation is progress. You still have work to finish. When I tell people to understand their numbers, I mean money that's actually coming in and expenses they actually need to pay.
Excitement doesn't tell you whether the business can meet its responsibilities. You need to know the difference between somebody showing interest, agreeing to the work, and completing the steps required to begin. Keep track of where each opportunity really stands. Make the next step clear while you're talking. What work is being agreed to?
What information do you need? How and when does payment happen? When will the work begin? Confirm those details so neither side has to guess. You aren't being difficult by explaining how the business operates.
You're helping the customer understand the commitment. Confusion after the conversation can turn an interested person into somebody who keeps putting off the decision. If an agreed payment hasn't arrived, check what happened before inventing a story. Did the invoice reach the right person? Was something unclear?
Is there an issue you need to address? Follow up professionally and keep a record of the response. And don't spend money you don't yet have as though the deal is finished. Imagine planning expenses around 3 promising conversations, Then discovering that only one person is ready to proceed. Your bills didn't participate in those conversations.
They still need paying. Know what is confirmed, what is pending, and what you're still hoping will happen. Bottom line? Finish the business part of the conversation. Make the agreement and next steps clear.
Track payments accurately. Follow up when something is missing. A yes feels good, but you need to understand what that yes has actually committed the customer to do. Thanks for tuning into the Level Up Podcast. I'm Paul Alex, reminding you that clear expectations help both you and the people buying from you.
Confirm the details, know your numbers, and as always, keep leveling up. Thanks for listening up to the Level Up Podcast.
