Welcome to the Level Up Podcast. I'm your host, Paul Alex. I went from being a cop to an 8-figure entrepreneur that helps average people like you and me make money every single day. I created this podcast to help you get motivated and to crush your goals. Let's win together.

00:00:16

Remember, I have your 6. Get ready to level up right now.

00:00:21

What's up everyone. Welcome back to the Level Up Podcast. I'm Paul Alex. And today we're talking about a decision that gets oversimplified. Leaving a career.

00:00:31

People act like you either love your job and stay forever, or you hate it and leave. What if you respect the work, you're proud of what you've done, and you still want your life to look different? That's something I understand. I was proud to serve in law enforcement. The work mattered to me.

00:00:47

The schedule could also take over my life. I could be called in at any time, and I was missing time with family and friends. Wanting more control over my time didn't erase the value of the work I'd done. I could appreciate that chapter and still consider what came next. If you're facing something similar, get clear about what needs to change.

00:01:05

Is it the schedule? The amount of overtime? The lack of control? Maybe there are changes you can make within the career. Maybe you want to build something outside it.

00:01:14

Start by understanding the problem instead of deciding you have to hate the whole job to justify a change. I built my ATM business while I was still a detective. I had an operating business and income before I resigned. That gave the decision something concrete behind it. Whatever your next chapter looks like, give yourself room to investigate it.

00:01:33

Talk to people doing the work. Understand what an ordinary week requires. Look at your responsibilities and the resources you have. You don't owe your past the rest of your future just because you worked hard to get there. But you do owe yourself a thoughtful decision.

00:01:48

A new title alone won't solve a problem you haven't understood. Bottom line? You can leave something you were good at without pretending it was a waste. Carry the skills forward. Respect what the work taught you.

00:02:00

Build a realistic next step around the life you want now. Gratitude for one chapter and ambition for another can exist together. Thanks for tuning in to the Level Up Podcast. I'm Paul Alex, reminding you that changing direction doesn't cancel the work you've already done. Understand the trade-offs, prepare the next step, and as always, Keep leveling up.
