You are listening to the Dan Le Batard Show in partnership with the DraftKings Sports app, now live in all 50 states.
I know that everyone is saying that the University of Miami has not played anyone, but regardless, it is rare that teams have this kind of trouble running against anybody. Uh, they're first in the sport rushing defense. Not since 1997 has an ACC team through 4 games stopped people from running fewer than 40 yards a game. If Clemson can't run, they can't pass. Like, they are very limited offensively. Mike was talking earlier about what their identity is, what it is that they're doing. They can't run the football against anybody and they're about to play the number 1 rushing defense in the sport statistically.
The narrative is annoying me already and look, teams are different year to year. However, I do think it's important to highlight that the core of this team, which seems to have upgraded at the game's most important position, is still very, very good and not too far removed from going on a run at College Station, handling Ohio State. I'm ready for another clap. I thought that, I thought that we were dancing here.
It seemed like you were, but then—
And then the Fiesta Bowl against Ole Miss.
Stepped on your foot.
And then, you know, going toe to toe with a 16-0 Indiana team as one of the best teams of all time. So yes, you play who you play. Last year's schedule was good. This year's schedule is not so good. It'll be held against them if they have a dumb slip-up, as it should. But let's stop pretending that Miami isn't legit. You can believe the numbers. This team is for real. You don't have to think that far back.
I don't believe there are actually that many questions. I have found a couple of things interesting about what's going on at the top of college football though right now, because welcome— I do want to welcome Texas to the place where expectations are slightly higher than they have been. Because once you beat Ohio State and become the number 1 team in the country, I know that Texas feels like it has tradition, but they've now gotten Zaslow to the place where their athletic director is saying he's embarrassed by their celebrations. Their athletic director's name is Chris Del Conte, and he says it will not happen anymore. There were a couple of different celebrations. One was just urinating on the opposing player. Another one was smelling your crotch and then passing it on.
The grundle.
Yeah. Okay. And, and so it reminded me of when the University of Miami got to the top of the sport and all of a sudden the microscope was such that people were really focusing in on the behavior. And it's interesting to me to see Sarkisian involved with the center of the athletic director is going after his own team and he's saying flatly, this isn't going to happen anymore. You think my coach has control of this? I'm telling you, I have control of this. So you think my coach doesn't have control of this? The athletic director is telling you, I have control of this. And I'm not sure Texas is ready for some of what comes with this stature. They have not been in this particular position enjoying their success before. One of the things that comes with it is you're representing our school. You're not going to represent our school in a way that's grotesque to the athletic director. It's not going to be the sensibilities of the kids that rule the day. The people in charge are going to remind you that they're in charge. even if the thing looks out of control.
Well, but we're not talking about like the players like dancing, and we're not even talking about taunting per se. Like, the celebrations were crude, like by all accounts.
Yeah, it was a little crass, but I mean, they served their penalties, and I agree, like it probably won't happen again because it directly impacts like the balance of those games. But I'm sure they're glad that they've escaped the news talk cycle because USC exists.
But one of the things happening, and this part is funny, they're talking about the guy doing a peeing celebration and not 5 and a half sacks that he had in the game.
Yeah, he's good.
I mean, it's 5.5 sacks. They had 10 in the game and he had 5.5. Look, once he started pissing on them, it was redundant. Like, he had already been doing that.
Pissing is gratuitous.
Yeah.
And crass.
What is the thought process where before the game, like, are they sitting around, hey, if we do something really cool, I got a good— you know what, you know what I'm gonna do? I'm gonna make like I'm, I'm touching my grundle and then I'm gonna smell it and it smells so stank I'mma pass out.
I can understand someone thinking that that's okay because maybe they don't get the reference. The peeing on somebody was really vivid, and I would love to get inside your mind as to how you thought this was at all okay.
Or how about in the pro section where we have Tee Higgins and Ja'Marr Chase hitting the— Yeah, well, that one is—
well, I guarantee you the league office didn't understand that, and it was like, oh, they're saying that on Twitter that you're whipping your penis out. As a first down thing.
The most offensive part was Ja'Marr Chase trying to tell me that he was doing the People's Elbow. Listen, I watched the People's Elbow, Dan, for 25, 30 years now. No one watched that and said, oh, Ja'Marr Chase is doing the People's Elbow. I know the People's Elbow.
So I thought he was recreating a heroin shot, which I thought was worse than the giant, uh, than the giant penis. What?
Why would you think that, big bruh?
I mean, that's icy veins, Dan. That's icy veins, not heroin shots.
That's what I saw. You guys can have your own interpretation. That is one of the things about performance art that allows the art to be in the eye of the, uh, beholder.
Someone should do that. Someone should—
I'm, I'm on their arm and go like— I'm actually of the belief, Tony, when you guys talk about What do you guys think the conversation, the brainstorming meeting was in a Texas athletic department conference room? We're like, what do you think I should do? Should I smell my own stuff and then pass out because it smells so bad? I believe that once they got to urination, that that was them settling at the compromise. I think we're going to piss off the athletic director if you poop on him. If you poop on him, I think we're going to get him mad. I think we need to change it by a degree and just see if we can get away with peeing on him.
Go number 1 instead of number 2.
That's what I felt like. But Tony, you missed a lot of stuff this weekend and you were in Disney World and you have a top 5 for us now. You have a couple. You came back very eager with a couple of top 5s. Are there football-related top 5s or is it too late in the week? I know Amin is about to do his weekend observations on Thursday because he wasn't here on Monday. Are you going to give us old football observations?
I'm not going to give you old football observations. We'll have Tony's top 5 re-racked For next week. This one is a They Did What? Top 5 from the NFL.
You thought he was doing heroin? That's crazy, Dan.
That is odd, yeah.
That's crazy.
Chris—
He also thought the NFL sold heroin.
That's right. Chris, how are you feeling right now? This is honestly one of the worst punishments I've ever done. It's sweaty in here.
It's hot.
I can't feel my arms. Like, I can't even talk. It won't stay off my ears. I lost cojones right now. Let's do the top 5. Any OLI here?
No OLI.
Number 5, the Commies did what?
Oh, Dan, you see about those Commies? I mean, come on now.
Uh, that's right, they won at home against the Seahawks.
That's right.
The Seahawks have not played, uh, in more than a year. That game, they've— they never allow that many points in the first half. They never trail all game.
Sam Darnold went for almost 400 yards and 4 touchdowns and they lost.
Yep.
Marcus Mariota and them boys.
Wow.
Yep.
Number 4. The Patriots did what?
Oh, Dan, Patriots stink. They stink and I love it. Vrabel, I don't know if he's long for New England. Just being honest. He's— that team stinks.
Wait a minute. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
Drake Maye.
Hold on.
Hold on.
Hold on.
Hold on.
I'm holding.
I don't have a lot of examples of a team being at the Super Bowl and 3 games later you're firing a coach who was 14-3 and it's—
I can fire anyone.
Yep.
Yep. You said not long for. What is that?
I said I don't know. I don't know if he's long.
They were 14-3. They made the Super Bowl. They overachieved beyond every expectation. 3 games later, they've won one of them. OK.
I don't know. I don't know. I said I don't know if he's long for New England. I don't know. Do you know?
Do you know if he's long for New England?
I think what's happening around Drake Maye is super strange.
He's not good. I don't know if he's long for New England.
Who's that supposed to be?
Who you supposed to be?
Who you doing?
Who you doing?
That's not me.
That's not me.
6 points with that quarterback?
Number 3.
Number 3. The Raiders did what?
So your, so your top 5 is just they did what?
They did what?
Yeah.
Yeah, you got it.
Yeah, Zazz, the Raiders.
This is, this is good and bad for the Raiders.
Are they for real? Are they for real?
I don't know.
Are they?
I don't know.
They did what?
You better be careful.
I don't know.
Are they for— are they for real?
I don't know.
So it's good and bad. How?
Because it's good because they're gonna be in the playoff picture the whole season, it looks like. You start 3-0, you're in the mix. But it's bad because Mendoza's not gonna play this year now. You can't play Mendoza if they're a playoff team.
Kirk Cousins will get hurt. Come on.
Oh, okay.
All right.
On his path to another $200 million contract. That was an Impressive performance from the Raiders. They're tough in Louisiana, Libby.
They're not for real. I'm not gonna answer the question. I know they're 3-0. We've had this question for 20 years around here. Are the Raiders for real? And the answer has always been no.
Big game or not big game?
Tomorrow.
Chiefs undefeated. Raiders undefeated. Tomorrow, 4:25 Sunday.
Tomorrow.
Save it.
Number 2.
Number 2. Case Keenum did what?
You know about that Case Keenum?
I refuse to talk about it.
Oh.
Number 1. I'm— look, guys, you're not gonna get me to keep talking about the backup quarterback.
Danny was incredible.
You're not going to get me to keep talking.
He was on the couch. I knew he was going to do that.
Knew it.
What a spot for Ben Johnson.
I mean, yeah, because Case Keenum can execute that offense. I don't believe in the Eagles whatsoever. You knew Case Keenum would bring it.
Did you see the stanky leg that Ben Johnson put out?
No, I didn't see that either.
He did what? I love a good stanky leg.
And he's Case Keenum. We can all agree, in a pinch, Hall of Fame.
Yeah. Yeah.
So, Dan, Case Keenum in a pinch?
No.
Yes. Case Keenum in a pinch? Dan, he did it in a pinch. You're going to say no?
No.
The Minneapolis Miracle, bud!
Let me ask you a question, uh, Tony. Is he did what— how different as a derivative is that from do what now?
I, I wanted to make it do what now, but it didn't make sense. So we'll put they did what. They did what now?
The two-quoi.
So number one.
Number one. Caleb Williams did what?
Do what now?
This is real?
What did he do?
He didn't play. And then he's looking at a guy that did play, but he's in a robe, which tells me that he took a shower, but he didn't play. Did he? He did that?
That is, that is exactly the robe I imagine that Caleb Williams is in at all times. He is in the robe. He's in the— he's in a robe that makes him look like the guy, the guy in Boogie Nights who had firecrackers.
Like Alfred Molina? Thank you.
Yes. Thank you for helping me with his name.
monogram on the side here.
But that, that robe, that really does like— that makes it look like Caleb Williams is in the mood for romance and he's leering over Keith Keenum's shoulders getting interviewed. It's very sensual what Caleb is giving off there.
Down levitar!
If Daniel Day-Lewis did it, you'd be jerking off all over yourself. Oh, come on.
Yeah, I would be. Aggressive description.
I mean, what is it? What is that? I'm just saying. No, you're just saying what?
That's me.
That's something.
Yeah, I see that photo of Daniel Day-Lewis looking like Lincoln before he's about to start filming, Lincoln. And you know what I do, Amin?
Mike Ryan!
I jerk off all over myself. That's what I do.
Lincoln, who you outed the other day?
Don't make this a rejoin. This is the Dan Le Batard Show! This does afford me the opportunity to apologize to the audience. My Baker blinders were on. I said that Baker, I know he has to be really hurt because he is tough as nails and he wouldn't scream that way. And he's only going to be out for 3 weeks and no ligament damage or anything like that. Did you see what happened with Todd Bowles when Baker went down? Dan, are you familiar with this? He did what?
No.
Todd Bowles did what? Todd Bowles, when Baker Mayfield was writhing in pain, screaming, was seen laughing. And he was asked about it in the press conference. And Todd Bowles said, I just wasn't expecting such a high-pitched yell.
Yeah.
No.
Yeah.
He's like, I was— I found it funny. I was, I was really surprised at how high stakes it is.
His job's on the line.
And he's laughing?
Of course his job is on the line.
I don't like it.
I don't like it. Caleb Williams also looks like my auntie in that robe.
But, but Tampa Bay, I told you I'm pro Jaylen Daniels. I saw Jaylen Daniels plenty in Kansas.
That guy might stink.
No. Did you watch him in the preseason?
He might stink.
Why is it? Because he gave a press conference yesterday where he's like, you don't want to be a thermometer, you want to be the thermostat. I was like, I got jacked up listening to that, even though I have no idea what the fuck he means.
I know what he means.
You think when Caleb Williams got in the shower with all the other guys, they're like, what are you doing here?
I have a number of different questions about what it is that you guys mentioned, but none larger than you reporting. You're telling me that Baker Mayfield, the quarterback that they just gave a bunch of money to, and they're going to be bad this season, and he's turned the ball over a lot, and that is already looking like a bad contract because of how much he turns the ball over, that he was screaming in such pain. It was a 4th-down play. They were desperate at the end there. I felt like their season fell apart with that incompletion and the fact that he was screaming on the ground so loud that that scream was the siren on Todd Bowles. You are about to lose your job. And you're telling me that Todd Bowles was laughing? Todd Bowles, who has shown exactly zero personality the entirety of his career, no matter who he is coaching, that he was throwing his head back and laughing because the pain of his quarterback was so large and his job was in such jeopardy that he couldn't help but howl with laughter at the high-pitched nature of the scream.
That's what I'm telling you.
That can't be true.
And look, I'm a huge Baker apologist. I'll be the first to admit he's gotta be better. They've lost 12 straight against the spread. But they've had good offensive coordinators there, and we saw Baker play his best football under Cohen and Canales. Right? Zach Robinson, no evidence he's ever been good at calling plays. And when you watch these games with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, yes, there are turnovers. Are these turnovers born though from Baker Mayfield absolutely running for his life and evading tacklers left and right?
Yeah.
And Baker made the throw to beat Cleveland. So while I fully expect Jalen Daniels to be a bit of a spark plug, I loved what he did in the preseason, and I love that he's not the thermometer, he's a thermostat.
So I want to ask you guys, though, as we examine sort of these coaches, Todd Bowles has lived an entire football life in front of us and we don't know very much about him. Super stoic, uninteresting in public on purpose. That's about the most interesting thing I've ever heard as a reaction from Todd Bowles to anything in any form. But I want to play for you guys something on Mike Tomlin that I believe will give you a glimpse into Mike Tomlin that will help you understand Mike Tomlin and who he is as a person. He is better than any of us have ever understood. I don't know how many in our audience are gamers. I don't know how many in our audience will appreciate what it is that we were reporting a couple of weeks ago when we said that Mike Tomlin has been building a city, okay, for 12 years because he's got the sort of grinding meticulousness of an architect and the obsessive-compulsive stamina to stay with something. for more than a decade, and he's proud of it. And I feel like— and you tell me whether I'm overpromising on this— I think that this gives you a glimpse, a better glimpse into who Mike Tomlin actually is than even his press conferences, which is a great deal, which are always a great deal of fun.
Created a, you know, a city, and they spawned the city. And I just wanted to start around a body of water. At the time, I had no idea, you know, how big the city might get or whatever, but I kind of wanted densely populated, um, buildings and so forth. And so I started small, and of course, over the course of 12 years, man, you develop neighborhoods and communities and so forth. We'll get into some of that, but this is kind of where it all started, around this body of water. And I, and I thought it was appropriate to kind of just give you that perspective of where I wanted to get started from. And this building that I'm locked in on right here, the very first building that I did. And so I'll out there and give you a quick tour, a synopsis of what that was.
I don't think this is gonna be quick.
I'm gonna start at the front of this very first building that I built here in town, and it was a boutique hotel.
This is brick by brick. Let's pod this down here because this is gonna go on for a while.
Damn, this is incredible. I don't think people understand like how meticulous you have to be to sit there and build in Minecraft. It's not like, let me just build this building and put it here. It's like, I'm gonna—
That game's not easy.
I'm gonna mine the ground to find a stone and then take that stone and then lay a a brick of the building and then do all that stuff. Like the intricacies of what he has here is almost— he's, he's better at Minecraft than he is as a coach.
Easily.
Across the lobby is a multipurpose conference room, a ballroom. I was really lighting conscious when I, when I started.
Turn that down.
It goes on for months.
He's got a glass roof there.
Lighting conscious. He won. He won a Super Bowl, Tony.
That doesn't matter.
Multipurpose conference room.
Now, this is more impressive than never.
never being under .500.
Yeah.
Do you know, he's been doing this for 12 years. Think of those 12 years. When Antonio Brown was losing his mind and Le'Veon Bell was holding out, this would be his escape.
Yeah.
This started as a coping mechanism, and Dan, he mastered Minecraft. I've never seen anything better or more impressive.
I'm more impressed by the coaching.
No, you're, you're lost.
You're wrong!
Did you see how deep the lake was?
You're wrong.
He had to dig that with a pickaxe!
You're wrong!
Dan, a pickaxe to dig a lake!
Super Bowl champion!
No, who cares about the depth of that lake?
What do you call that?
Never had a losing season.
That's one side of the lake.
That's, that's one of the GOATs of Minecraft.
Super Bowl champion, it was so long ago. Clearly his main focus has been Minecraft the last dozen years.
It's an impressive sentence to say never had a losing season. Becomes more impressive when I throw the name Mason Rudolph in there.
Dan, primetime game, Myles Garrett swings his helmet at Mason Rudolph. That's a pretty stressful time. Pretty stressful time. You know what Mike Tomlin did after that? After his press conference, he went home and he started mining.
Yeah. Also, Ben Roethlisberger, accusations out the ass. You know what my boy did later on that night?
Dig.
Put a jacuzzi in there.
That's right. He's a real stickler for lighting.
I kind of wanted densely populated buildings and so forth, and so I started small and And of course, over the course of 12 years, man, you develop neighborhoods and communities and so forth. We'll get into some of that. But this is kind of where it all started around this bottom corner.
You know, your time machine, when you were telling me about UNC and Clemson and Bill Belichick and Dabo sending the sport back, you should have included this in just this video and been like, this also happened.
Warren Sharpe points out that his number declined. His numbers in football declined a lot the moment he started getting obsessed with the building brick by brick of this city.
My only issue with the building is if you look over here at the pier, the pier is kind of blocking the view of the beachgoers, which I don't really like. So he should have thought of that and maybe done a pier outside of the sand into the water.
Every day— To go a little bit further. Every day is an opportunity to get better.
Yeah.
You know, this is always going to be a work in progress. I am telling you right now, Mike Tomlin is sitting on an empire. If he wanted to put this behind a paywall, he would be one of the most popular streamers in the history of all time.
The second floor. And so I just kind of want to have a little spa area at the boutique hotel. Across the lobby is a multi-purpose conference room, a bar.
Oh, I'm back in the—
we have— it's multi-purpose.
Do we have the aquarium? Because that was nuts.
One of those rooms was labeled therapy room.
They have, they have a lot of stuff like that in hotels, and obviously he's thinking of everything that needs to be in a hotel.
He's talking about— Look at the atrium.
Yeah.
He was lighting conscious, he said.
Beat the Browns, build an atrium.
I just want to remind everyone that Mike Tomlin was not hired as the Miami Dolphins head coach because the then Dolphins executive said he was too hip-hop.
The city might get too hip-hop or whatever, but I built an atrium. Densely populated buildings and so forth. Got 2 stadiums small and in the city.
I think that everyone needs to listen again to what it is Zaslow said. That was a 790 exclusive. We've known it in town for a long time. This is a real thing. Before Mike Tomlin got the job that resulted in not just him winning a Super Bowl, but him never having a losing season— before that happened, the headhunter of the Miami Dolphins, Joe Bailey, who was entrusted with picking the next CEO, found him after a global search in the bathroom mirror one morning, appointed himself the CEO of the Dolphins, and then did not hire Mike Tomlin because—
He's too hip-hop.
Get into some of that. But this is kind of where it all started around this body of water. And I thought it was appropriate to kind of just give you that perspective.
Should have let that search because it was born out of like me and Guzio talking. Who would you hire, Mike? I would hire Mike Tomlin. Cefalo is like, Joe, you met with Tomlin, didn't you? What'd you think? With a smile on his face. Yeah, it's too hip-hop.
Ah, very first building that I built here in town, and it was a boutique hotel kind of on a bay.
And for the record, Warren Sharpe is pointing out that before Minecraft, 7 seasons, 1 Super Bowl win, 2 Super Bowl trips, 5 playoff wins, 5-3 overall in the playoffs. After Minecraft, 12 seasons, 0 Super Bowl wins, 0 Super Bowl trips, 3 playoff wins, 3-9 in the playoffs.
A synopsis of what that one's about. I will start at the front of this very first building that I built here in town, and it was a boutique hotel. Whatever.
Look, I'm proud I wanted to bring up something from yesterday that has Philadelphia Sixers fans— Chris, it's a lot of fun to watch you squirm around. It's clearly— it's pretty itchy. I'm glad you're enjoying it. It's pretty itchy, right? It's pretty itchy. I can't feel my arms.
Did Warren Sharpe mention Duck Hodges at all? Down, Le Batard! I hate that Carolina's gonna get this moment just because they waited us out. Jonathan Sasselo! But I love that Buffalo's gonna replace the Panthers in this situation because those fans absolutely deserve it, not going to the playoffs with— 14 straight years?
We deserve it, we deserve it!
I don't care. We won twice already!
I deserve a third one before they deserve anything!
I just started paying attention to hockey. I live in a swamp, give me 3 in a row.
Sabers.
Buffalo deserves— eat shit, Buffalo! Why do you care about Buffalo?
This is the Dan Le Batard Show!
The Philadelphia 76ers. I don't know if you saw any of this, Zaslav, but they are rushing to the defense of Jaylen Brown against the hostilities of this show.
Of course.
Now, well, you say of course, but Juju, when we were doing this yesterday, like, I'm always getting aggregated around here in ways that feel unfair to me. And so when this headline is put in front of me yesterday and the Philadelphia 76ers media is deciding that that I'm a person who needs to come under fire for my clickbait post about Jaylen Brown. Uh, I, I will show you guys again the clip that we were talking about that involved Jaylen Brown, and then we'll come back afterward to dissect what it is the Philadelphia media I think is doing unfairly to me. Going into training camp, do you guys know who, who this team is or who it, you know, who the, the alpha is? And is that something that matters? And is that something that's going to come play out over time?
Next question.
Yeah, sorry. So the silence is awkward and he allows everyone to sit in the discomfort. Uh, but Juju, the reason I bring this to your attention specifically is I felt Like I went out of my way yesterday to advocate on behalf of Jaylen Brown being himself, and so you can imagine how frustrating it is for me to get accused of a clickbait post that is unfair in which they're saying of me, "Well, I wasn't at the press conference, and it wasn't a Philadelphia reporter that asked him the question; it was a national reporter." That was awkward sound. I didn't have to be there to hear that that silence was awkward sound, and I feel like the whole thing ends up misrepresenting. representing me, but welcome Philadelphia 76ers. It's been a while to basketball that feels like it matters with expectations because this is what it's going to be all season for them. It's who said what, who can I go after, how do I rally around my team because some media member has said something. They're going to invent it. Is this fair to me, Juju? Is this fair to the conversation you and I were having about this yesterday?
This is absolutely unfair, big bro. This is clickbait. Y'all watch the click only because—
They did clickbait.
Exactly. Dan was literally defending this and saying how unfair this was for Jalen to get this ridicule. So for y'all to blame Dan, y'all out of bounds for that.
That's right, Dan. That was really, really unfair. I hate it when that happens, just like you did to me with the Protect College Sports thing.
Now, you were dying for Amin to tell you that all of my opinions were wrong. I heard about soft— like, you, you, you were dying to talk to him.
Good old Mike Ryan carrying water for Ted Cruz.
Next question.
You and Amin decided, and Zazz heard it the same way.
I heard it too, from a different person.
Zazz heard it the same way.
Yeah, I know that person too. Amber's a lawyer, she should know better. Name somebody better in the nation on this than me.
Name them.
You're asking me?
Name them.
You're asking me?
Yeah, name somebody who has been educating the audience to the degree that I have on all the problems with the Protect College Sports Act. Name someone that's been better at it than me.
You're saying you're the best? Yes!
Tell me someone who's been better.
No one is more qualified than you to talk about this.
Tell me someone who's been better.
Next question.
Tell me someone who's been better.
Jay Bilas.
All right, I'll take that.
Play it on.
Jay Bilas has been good. My platform is a little bit more consistent, but yes, I'll agree.
Dan, do you feel though, because it's stating here, this story on 97.5 The Fanatic in Philadelphia, Dan Le Batard under fire. Are you under fire?
Well, that headline puts me under fire by putting the headline that says I'm under fire. I played that clip and then I said, here we go. Basically, here's what it's going to be between Jaylen Brown and the media all season. He's going to keep being himself and people are going to get uncomfortable with him being himself. Look, he sat there in that silence. He's fine with the comfort he has in the discomfort. He didn't— do you know how many people would have politely just stopped the silence But he's like, next question. I'm not going to permit you to ask me that and lure me into the trap of your clickbait. And then what ends up happening is in the vortex of context making and content making, we all end up in there where it's not just our show, but it's the fanatic. It's something called the fanatic rallying around Jaylen Brown to protect poor, precious, fragile Jaylen Brown from my withering support of Jaylen Brown. Like, I—
Next question.
I didn't say anything about Jaylen Brown. Jaylen Brown would have been listening to that and being going like, thank, thank you, Dan. Thank you, Juju. Thank you guys for, for accurately representing how I feel about all of this.
Right. This feels like some getback because remember when LeBron first went over there, you had a couple of questions that you was asking and they may have just been questions, but I think they took them as accusations. So they're trying to get you back for that.
Just to be abundantly clear, I hate Jaylen Brown and the 76ers, and I completely agree with everything that Dan said about being anti-Jaylen Brown.
Brown. Making it sound like there was some tension when there was none is incredibly unprofessional from Dan Le Batard.
All right, Jay Bilas, but who else?
Yeah.
You think after Jay Bilas—
Yes. No one else in the world is more qualified than you to talk about the respect of college sports acts? I feel like you'd be able to name him as quickly as you named Jay Bilas.
Hey, this is— I'm not the one who has beef with this guy.
I was on the other side.
At the time I had no idea, you how big the city might get or whatever, but I kind of wanted densely populated buildings.
Jay Billis, D-Money Mady. That's the list.
What's tonight's third?
Cory Booker.
Cory Booker.
Fourth.
Cory Booker, he goes where the wind blows.
Fourth.
Who do you think is telling Cory Booker what to do? Oh, Mike Ryan! Who do you think is telling Cory Booker what to do?
Damn.
The wind blows Cory Booker onto our show next Wednesday.
Well then I'll, uh, salute. I have to send that one out. I have to sit that one out. I'm complicit.
Dan Le Batard was not one of those who actually showed up in Camden.
So forth, we'll get into some of that, but this is kind of where it all started, around this body of water. And I'll— and I thought it was appropriate to kind of just give you that perspective of where I wanted to get started from. And this building that I'm locked in on right here, the very first building—
It's a huge body of water, by the way. He dug the entire thing with a pickaxe.
conference expansion.
Was the exchange with Jaylen Brown tense or was it not tense? Did it not seem to you guys when somebody hits you?
It seemed like he enjoyed that. And I'm right there with you when I think he's— when you say he's unprofessional, I'm right there.
But I didn't say that.
Right there, riding sidecar.
Here's the thing with Mike Tomlin. He's got Kikora Hufflephobia.
Yeah, he does.
And his issue is that he's got to be excellent at everything.
Yes.
Also, I think the next person who had the next question, they're to blame for that long silence, not Jaylen.
And when you point out he still has trouble Going to his left. Brother, you're speaking to me.
He did fix that a little bit last week.
A little bit, but not enough for Dan anyways.
We can agree that the whole thing was awkward. And I think, I think I'm about to say something that just about everyone listening to this will have arrived at the same conclusion as me, which is enough with Dan Lanning. Put it on the poll @LeBatardShow. Enough with Dan Lanning. Yes or no? This guy got out there so strong. Okay. understandably, in defense and protecting of his quarterback and was very loud and had a lot to say for many days after his team beat USC. And then he opens his next press conference.
We'll give you a tour.
No, no, Mike.
On the main floor and kind of—
Mike, we'll hear from you next hour. You can stick around here. I want to hear all your Minecraft and all your observations, and I really want to get to know you from inside of here. But I'm trying to—
I paid $4.99.
I'm trying to.
$4.99 a month for that.
But he's got to take me to the stadium though. He's doing the boutique hotel right now. I need the stadium tour.
$4.99 for 30 minutes.
Can you imagine the weight room he put in there?
So, Zazz, when Dan Lanning finally meets the media for the first time since the post, you know, the apocalyptic chaos of— look, there were a couple of things this weekend, and this is always present in college football in a way that to me is both laughable and precious, okay? Where the celebrations get your attention more than the actions on the field. So I just told you in the Texas game, a dude had 5.5 sacks. Everyone's talking about, hey, he peed on the field. And in the USC field— and he didn't actually pee on the field, he pantomimed peeing on the field. If you were this upset over him peeing on the field, I'd understand. Him pantomiming it, you shouldn't be this upset about. But the USC-Oregon game, even though both of those coaches are in trouble, even though both of those programs are underachievers, the conversation is about a hit and it's about the celebration of that hit. And Dan Lanning here to tell you First time he's seeing the media. Hey, you guys, you stop talking about it even though I've been talking about it for 3 straight days.
Are you aware of any contact from Desmond directly to Dante?
I'm done talking about this game, guys. Let's move to the next. I appreciate all the good questions about this, but that game's over with. And like, we're about to play a UCLA team that reminds me a lot of Indiana from last year, right? Great staff. And let's just be honest, we're not remotely close to what we need to be. We're not remotely close. So no, no offense to the question, but Like, we can't spend a week talking about a game that happened last Saturday. And I get it, you guys didn't get to see me on Monday, but let's talk, let's talk about the future here. And our team is a long ways away from being what we need to be. For us being, you know, the great thing about a win, it builds confidence, right? We have some guys that built some confidence, but you go back and evaluate, we are so far from what we have to be as we move forward. So we got to grow a ton. I'm not talking about that game anymore.
Next question. Stop talking, period. Dan Lanning. I'm so sick of this guy. I hated all the fanfare and look, yes, this is a Mario Cristobal thing because of every— all the shit they talked over there in Eugene, Oregon.
Yeah.
Which, by the way, blew up in their face big time last year. Did you know Dan Lanning has a little stock ticker of Oregon contracts in the NFL? Anytime a player sits in his office, they see all the contracts that Mario Cristobal got guys. Thank you for the recruiting tool, Dan. Dan Lanning doesn't win big games. He's convinced himself that Penn State last year was a big game. And USC-Penn State Redux is a big game. It's not a big game. You can't go on every show possible, complain about that Dontay Moore hit, and then be like, guys, enough with Dontay Moore! Your very first time talking to local media. Enough fraud.
"The peeing on somebody was really vivid."
Texas is back in the spotlight, and their AD is acting as such. Tony is back from Disney and has a Top 5 from the NFL Weekend, Mike Tomlin has built a magisterial empire, Dan is under fire, and Mike and Zas are fighting over who knows more about College Football.
