You are listening to the Dan Levitan Show in partnership with the DraftKings Sports app, now live in all 50 states.

00:00:09

Hey, you gotta tell me, what are you feeling right now? 100! 100? Not 1,000 this time? Yeah, 100!

00:00:18

Ahhh!

00:00:19

I am Japanese Eagle!

00:00:21

Hey, it's early in Japan.

00:00:24

They're celebrating with you. Anything you want to say to them?

00:00:26

Same.

00:00:26

Hi. Same, same. Same. Yeah, he's drunk. He's drunk. But he's drunk.

00:00:35

Yeah.

00:00:35

Tell me you didn't need him. I'm drunk.

00:00:38

Yeah.

00:00:39

Yesterday, maybe hungover, you know?

00:00:42

Yeah.

00:00:42

Tomorrow hungover.

00:00:43

Yes.

00:00:44

No, no.

00:00:45

Yesterday.

00:00:45

Tomorrow.

00:00:46

Yeah.

00:00:46

Sorry, I don't speak English.

00:00:49

You don't need the translator.

00:00:50

Congratulations. Thank you so much.

00:00:52

I love Murakami.

00:00:54

100.

00:00:55

He and Vargas went 1 for 17 combined. They hit just 2 home runs. Runs the White Sox in 2 games. Oh, and they still crushed the Astros, who didn't belong there. They lost 119 games last year.

00:01:10

No, 119.

00:01:16

That brings us to Amin El-Hassan. That last clip, we're going to do weekend observations in a second with him. But before we do so, today, maybe hangover. I want to get into Pablo Torre Finds Out.

00:01:30

It's Thursday.

00:01:31

Yeah, it's weird that he would be doing this Thursday weekend observations. But what do you make? I played this for David Sampson. What's plausible here? I mean, what's realistic here when it comes to this being Kawhi's reaction to hearing the name Pablo Torre ostensibly for the first time?

00:01:49

Another Pablo Torre episode came out last night. I'm just kind of curious, as this has gone on, Do you pay attention to them?

00:01:57

How do you block them out?

00:01:59

The public or the podcast that's kind of sort of pushing the investigation?

00:02:03

Oh, um, no, I don't follow it, you know. Um, I don't know what to think of it or really expect. I'm not entertained by it.

00:02:15

So, um, like I said before, the NBA did their job.

00:02:20

Uh, the PA did their job and, um, yeah, I don't know.

00:02:24

I don't even know what he's talking about.

00:02:27

I mean, yeah, uh, there's 2 schools of thoughts, Dan. One school of thought is, hey, this is Kawhi Leonard. He is in a bubble of some sorts. Clearly a lot of this stuff happened without his active involvement, as Juju pointed out. How do we know? The guy didn't do the job that he was paid to do. The other school of thought is this is all a clever ruse. All this, this whole thing is an act. This whole, I'm Kawhi Leonard, apple time, apple time. It's all a carefully curated cover for a guy who's maniacally and deviously scheming behind the scenes, always working. Because what do we know? $700 grand paid, $115 million extension signed afterward. Sounds like he's doing his plan according to plan.

00:03:12

What do you do with the information that the Clippers all of a sudden have a Brandon Ingram whose Achilles doesn't work? Like, that seems to be a trade that should be rescinded after the physical. No?

00:03:23

The great Kerry Champion once said, Clips gon' clip. And that's, that's just the Clippers' luck. That was detected. They knew about it. They knew about it when they did the physical. They knew about it. They accepted the goods as is. My guess is because the picks are probably the most important part of that package. And if you say no, Rescind that trade. Find me a better deal for Kawhi Leonard for the Clippers out there. I don't think they would have found one.

00:03:47

An injured player and a few picks for Kawhi Leonard?

00:03:51

Find me a better deal. Tell me the team that's like, you know what, I mean, you guys have hit up some hard times, I'm gonna give you a good player. I mean, and some picks.

00:04:00

Mikal Bridges can't be 5 picks, Rudy Gobert 5 picks, and broken Brandon Ingram and a couple of picks is what you get for a top 10 league superstar.

00:04:10

Dan, this isn't the currency exchange at the airport where you say, wait a second, well, he got $1 for €17. That's not how this works. Every deal is a deal unto itself. And so, yes, those guys went for that many picks.

00:04:25

Why?

00:04:26

Because the buyer was motivated. They were like, I don't care, just give it to me. I don't care. I don't care. I'll pay whatever. I'll pay 5 picks. I'll pay whatever. Right. There is no motivated buyer in this case. There— first of all, the guy came out and said, I ain't going anywhere until— unless San Antonio or Toronto are the places. So automatically, 27 teams are like, oh, he doesn't even want to sign an extension. Why am I giving up stuff for a guy who will not stay? So just without any of the scandal involved, just take it from there. The superstar said, these are the only 2 places I'll sign an extension. Boom, right there, you already cut the value. Now take it a step further and say, oh, this guy's coming with a world of scandal and a circle that's around him that maybe is not around him in public, but do we really think all those people are gone away? We don't know if the shenanigans will continue. Then on top of all that, oh yeah, he gets hurt a lot. You cannot tell me you're going to get a better deal than what they got.

00:05:23

Because Brandon Ingram, a small tear in his Achilles is not the end of the world. He'll be fine.

00:05:27

This is the reason that I would tell you that they could have gotten a better deal than that, not just because I want to shout, hey, it's Kawhi Leonard. Being able to find this kind of player in the discount bin never happens. What you're talking about as a price tag for Kawhi Leonard is absurdly, uh, small. Even if I give you the idea that it's scandalous, I'd take Kawhi Leonard for a year on my team just to have him on my team, even if he's not signing an extension, just because he's a final piece that takes a team over the top. These other people that we're talking about that you're desperate to buy, they're not what Kawhi Leonard is. They're not even close.

00:06:06

All right, so again, we've seen this situation before with Kawhi Leonard, by the way. He got traded to the Raptors the first time this way, coming out of Toronto. And what they gave up was DeMar DeRozan, who in retrospect now had a lot more good basketball left in him. But at that time we're like, oh, uh, how much more DeMar DeRozan have? And was it one first-round pick? Like, it was not that big of a deal. Right? And so for Toronto, it paid off. Now tell me if Toronto had given up 2 unprotected first-round picks, a first-round pick swap, and then 2 second-round picks along with DeMar DeRozan back then for a 1-year rental of Kawhi Leonard. We'd all be saying, wow, that's a lot of stuff for no guarantee that this guy is gonna play for you or play well or any of those things. There's an enormous amount of risk involved in acquiring this guy, Dan. I'm not telling you he's not a good player. We all know he's a great player, but you cannot pretend that he's as sure of a thing as, as say acquiring Rudy Gobert for all his flaws and his warts.

00:07:08

We know he plays. We know he shows up most of the time and we know he has an impact. And also we know he's gonna be around because contractually he has to be.

00:07:16

I mean, I've been wanting to talk to you about what's going on in Detroit with Jalen Duren. So this is— he's not even in camp. You know, he's technically not on the team right now. He doesn't have a contract. He has not signed the restricted tender, which I think would be crazy to sign that because—

00:07:29

No player cost himself more money in the playoffs last year than this guy.

00:07:32

Well, no, not necessarily.

00:07:34

That's the problem, because the Pistons are offering him $200 million. Like, Jalen Duren was All-Full in the playoffs last year, and his punishment is the Pistons saying, here, we're going to give you $200 million. Like, I mean, it's crazy.

00:07:49

Why is he signing this?

00:07:50

No, but he wants more than that.

00:07:52

So this is, this is the, the impasse. Jalen Duren, because he made All-NBA, qualifies for the higher max bracket. They call it the Rose Rule extension. Instead of 25% of the max, which by the way, that's what Victor Wembanyama signed by himself, he just said, hey, I don't even want the higher one, he's going for the 30%. And the Pistons, look, I don't know what kind of playoff he could have had to make them say, yeah, this guy is that good. Because when we talk about who are the centers that are making more than him, it's like he's not in that conversation.

00:08:25

Wendell Carter took his lunch money last year in the playoffs.

00:08:29

But I'm telling you, it's not about one sample size of just the playoffs. It's about, hey, who do we believe this player to be? I don't think— you guys think that if this was done before the playoffs started, they would have said absolutely, congratulations, here's 30% of the max? They wouldn't have. No, they wouldn't have done that. They would not have done that. Now, the place where you could say maybe the playoffs threw some cold water is in Opposing offers, right? Because restricted free agency is— if you can't get it with your team, it's all about having someone else say, I'll pay that shit. And nobody, or at least nobody beyond the Sacramento Kings, seems willing to have that conversation. So maybe, maybe the playoffs affected that, but I think it's more likely that people look at Jalen Duren and say, he's a really good young player, and he's young, he's 21, you know, he could, he could get better. But But do we think he's going to be a Jokic, an Embiid, that kind of player? Nobody thinks that. And that's what the kind of money he's looking for. If I were his agent, if I were him, I would say absolutely just take the $200 million because you'll be 25 or 26 when you come out and you could do this all over again and get way more money.

00:09:34

Get the security right now. Don't do the qualifying offer because the qualifying offer almost never leads to, I found everything I wanted the following summer.

00:09:43

Does he play for the Pistons this year?

00:09:45

I kind of think he— I mean, what are you gonna do? You're gonna sit out?

00:09:47

Hey, trade him.

00:09:47

Here's what happens if he's got to accept the qualifying offer for that to happen. If he does, then he has a no-trade clause automatically. He can say yes or no to wherever he wants to go in the league. It just makes things complicated. I think the Pistons play him. I think they play it out and see what happens. Or maybe, maybe at the 11th hour he comes to his senses and say, I gotta take this massive pile of generational wealth because if anything goes wrong— and we saw what happened with Jonathan Kuminga and everyone scoffed at the Warriors. We saw what happened to Cam Thomas in Brooklyn, and everyone scoffed at the Nets. And where are those guys now? Where's their generational wealth?

00:10:27

Dan Le Batard.

00:10:28

Analytics have/are ruining the game. We're playing AI hoops. That's his team! His team's at the forefront of all that! Cam's ass, don't steal my thunder! I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, sorry.

00:10:38

Jonathan Sassolo.

00:10:40

I get carried away.

00:10:41

This is the Dan Le Batard Show.

00:10:49

Can you walk me through, please? Because I need clarification on this. I just said that nobody cost themselves more money during last year's playoffs, and both of you shook your head no. Would you agree with it if I said no player cost themselves more reputation than this one? You're saying it's not money, but in terms of being downgraded as an All-Star, I saw no player in the playoffs. I mean, he's out here saying that Carter stole his lunch money.

00:11:16

I I will refer you to Juju Gotti's stat of the day from the other day, in which Chet Holmgren got pushed around, spent the whole summer getting swole, came back £5 heavier.

00:11:29

£2.

00:11:30

Yeah, he bulked up.

00:11:31

Fair enough. Let's do weekend observations here on a Thursday, inexplicably.

00:11:36

No, explicably. I have a family.

00:11:38

To share his game notes.

00:11:39

Okay.

00:11:40

No one in the media will tell you what happened better than my boy.

00:11:43

I mean, I know nobody gets this, that Amin actually has a family and a life, because I'm here every week dependably, reliably. I work summers, I work winters, I work Christmas, I work Thanksgiving, I work it all. I fly all over the country to do work wherever it is, whether it's Miami or otherwise. But yeah, I have a family.

00:12:01

We're closer to the next weekend than we are the one you're observing.

00:12:05

God forbid I take one Monday off to take my children to go to Universal Studios. I'm sorry, what an awful selfish person I am.

00:12:15

Well, you said it.

00:12:15

Weekend Observations is brought to you by Miller Lite. Legendary moments start with a light. Legendary moments also start with your family.

00:12:23

And a Wednesday.

00:12:26

Dan, the debate rages on all across America, an argument that has no resolution. Dinner tables become demilitarized zones and families are torn asunder as folks pick sides. Even the Dan Le Batard Show is not immune, with 2 opposing factions forming live on air. I'm talking, of course, about whether Caleb Williams oversold his hamstring injury. Now, I'm not going to tell you how much tougher I am than Caleb Williams, like Mike Ryan did, nor will I leap to the conclusion that a professional athlete's pain threshold is automatically higher than mine. Instead, I'm gonna ask the question that I cannot believe no one else on the show ever thought to posit. Did Howard Bryant scream that loudly when he tore both of his hamstrings getting out of bed?

00:13:23

That guy, you know you hired him.

00:13:29

Yeah, I did.

00:13:30

Yeah.

00:13:31

And the one—

00:13:31

did you guys think he screamed? Do you think he screamed like that?

00:13:36

Happy birthday, Ethan Strauss. Signed, Straight White Hispanic.

00:13:42

It's such a good question. Do you agree with me? I don't know whether you were here the day that I, uh, I— you were here, weren't you? I mean, that I wondered whether Howard Bryant is the first person in the history of both Earth and hamstrings to tear both hamstrings while waking up.

00:13:56

Well, yeah, we've, we've asked that question many a time on the show. But somehow when someone actually tears their hamstring and screams like that, nobody thought, wait a second, did Howard scream like that getting out of bed? Because I'm gonna say this, I don't think he did. And he— to 2!

00:14:14

Double!

00:14:17

Chicago Bears beat the Eagles like they stole something. When asked about the challenge of facing an angry Rams team in Week 4, Head coach Nick Sirianni replied, we're angry too.

00:14:30

Lollipop questions for Doug Emhoff. Softball, man.

00:14:34

Don't be too hard on yourself, Nick. You taught me a valuable lesson this week. That Case Keenum is still alive and well and playing football professionally. Did you guys know this?

00:14:47

They said in-a-pinch Hall of Famer. They declared him an in-a-pinch Hall of Famer earlier in the show. Hall of Famer.

00:14:54

First ballot.

00:14:56

Yep.

00:14:56

Who else would you want in the pinch, Dan?

00:14:58

Maybe Gerbach.

00:15:00

Ooh, Elvis Gerbach. That's a name. The Falcons beat the shit out of the Packers. The Commanders beat the defending champs without their starting quarterback. The Browns are above .500. Ladies and gentlemen, this is Biff's 1985.

00:15:17

Wait a minute. That Packers observation is a weak stale. That is a week ago. That was a Thursday ago. That Packer observation should not have been reheated, recycled, and served as leftovers.

00:15:29

It's a week old. Doesn't make it any less shocking. Death, taxes, and an error happening right at the end of an episode I'm streaming on the flight, and then I gotta reopen the app and hunt for the episode because it disappears once it says, oh, you actually watched it. Like, no, no, no, I never finished it. So I got to dig through and find the episode, which then has a commercial break to start before I can even fast forward. Yes, that's right, I do Hulu with commercials because I have this whole deal with my Spotify where I get it grandfathered in. Yeah, Tony knows all about this, but I got to do the commercial. So I got to fast forward to the spot at the end that I missed, but then because I'm fast forwarding past several commercial breaks, it runs a full commercial break again.

00:16:13

I'm sorry.

00:16:16

Is Arch Manning good?

00:16:18

Again with this.

00:16:20

I'm gonna keep asking it. I'm telling you, y'all keep falling over. You say, oh, you gotta draft number 1. I'm like, if his name was Arch Elhassan, would you draft him number 1 overall?

00:16:31

Absolutely not.

00:16:32

Absolutely not.

00:16:37

Who? Arch Elhassan. I downgrade him for that name. He could, he He could play like Josh Allen. I'd be, I'm not drafting him.

00:16:44

More like Gorch Nemesis.

00:16:48

Archibald El-Hassan.

00:16:49

El-Hassan.

00:16:52

Manchester City financial scandal.

00:16:55

How about El-No?

00:16:58

Makes what the Clippers did with Kawhi Leonard look like Teddy Bridgewater paying for a high school student's Uber ride.

00:17:03

It's crazy, isn't it? It really is crazy. I've been sitting here saying this Kawhi Leonard scandal is the biggest in the history of finance and sports. And all of a sudden Manchester City, Mike Ryan's out here saying that he— they should be expelled and, and made extinct, like expelled from everything.

00:17:21

Dan, do you know specifically what they did?

00:17:23

Yes.

00:17:23

Are you familiar?

00:17:24

Yes.

00:17:24

So to the audience, uh, the way it works is you can— and Mike, correct me if I'm wrong— your amount that you can spend is a percentage of what you earn, right? So if your earnings are big, you can spend more. If your earnings are smaller, you can spend less. But because this team was bought by, uh, Emiratis, they basically falsified earnings. They funneled money in, called it like sponsorship deals and stuff. And as a result, oh, because we made all this extra money, now we can spend more. They spent more, they get better players, they win. And because you win, of course you start making more money on the books for real. But it's all buoyed by this fake money that they've flushed in. And so if the Clippers did this for Kawhi Leonard, who was one guy, Manchester City did this for rosters for a decade plus, 2 decades almost. And that's what makes it that much bigger of a situation. Now, the Financial Times, they're reporting that Man City's chair, Khaldoon Al Mubarak, cannot be criminally prosecuted in the UK for any wrongdoing. due to diplomatic immunity. And I can't read those words without, without thinking about dude from Lethal Weapon 2.

00:18:40

Diplomatic immunity!

00:18:43

Ooh, how cool would it be if Danny Glover showed up and shot him in the head and said, it's just been revoked.

00:18:51

Freaks!

00:18:51

Right?

00:18:56

Jameis Winston made his first start of the season and delivered a hard-fought 12-7 victory. After the game, he said they won the game for Jaxon Dart since, quote, 12 points, 6 times 2, it's for you. Giants general manager Joe Shane saw that, picked up the phone, and told Minnesota, we'll give you whatever the fuck you want for J.J. McCarthy. Actually, his first call was to Case Keenum, but he found out he was still playing football professionally even. What? Who knew? He's like, he's in a game right now? I'm like, oh shit. Georgia Tech stomped out Mississippi 52-28. Go Jackets! Jalen Duren For the love of everything, take the money. Take it. You'll be like 25 when your deal is up.

00:19:55

I heard that.

00:19:55

Sophie Cunningham.

00:19:56

Heard that earlier in the segment.

00:19:58

I know you guys ask the questions. That's why I should do the observations first, and then you can ask.

00:20:02

That's why you should do them on Monday after the weekend.

00:20:05

No, that's why I should be a better father. I should, I should be doing weekend observations on Friday. I'm mad that I came home yesterday. We should have come home today and then do them on Friday. You know what? Next week, Friday Weekend Observation.

00:20:17

Georgia Tech didn't beat Ole Miss.

00:20:21

So thank you for paying attention. Sophie Cunningham, your team is on the brink of elimination. Maybe leave the shit talking to the motherfuckers who are actually going to determine the outcome. She had 4 points. Or just fully commit to being a troll who makes content for a living.

00:20:35

6 straight losses to Power 4 competition.

00:20:40

Patrick Kane, still alive?

00:20:43

Yes.

00:20:46

I hate that I even had to ask this question. Yeah, I mean, look, I thought he was retired. I thought he had a kid that played in the league. I saw Patrick Kane with the Hawks, I'm like, oh, that's cool. Oh damn, Patrick Kane Jr. All right, cool, man. And I found out, no, that's actually Patrick Kane still playing. I hate that I even have to ask this question. Are the Raiders for real?

00:21:10

No.

00:21:11

That's a question.

00:21:13

Big game, Dan? Not a big game? I'll save it for tomorrow. I'll save it.

00:21:16

I'll save it.

00:21:17

They're tough in Louisiana, Lippy.

00:21:18

I say no every year for 20 years.

00:21:21

That pass rush.

00:21:22

I've been right for 20 years.

00:21:26

Jameis Winston is like the manager who in his senior year gets to suit up and play on senior night. You're really happy for the guy, but also you don't actually want to see him out there playing meaningful possessions. It's like, yeah, in the starting line of Cool Hard. Now sit your ass down. Aja Wilson, switch to decaf. That's not Aja Wilson. That's a Raiders logo. That's not Aja Wilson either. Uh, what do you think you guys think the, the fan said to her?

00:22:04

Don't get me started, brother.

00:22:06

Yeah, in my mind he said relax. You guys are awful, by the way. Everyone not named Tony in that room is awful.

00:22:18

About?

00:22:18

Because nobody noticed I said GTB.

00:22:21

No, I saw it. I thought you were referencing from years ago. I saw this. I didn't even know what you were talking about.

00:22:26

I was too busy. apologizing to the staff that you once again threw under the bus because a graphic wasn't there, even though we hit 45 of them.

00:22:34

Even though you're doing this on Thursday when it should be on Monday. Keep it moving, the music's run out.

00:22:40

I also—

00:22:40

Run it back then.

00:22:42

I, I brought it up to Roy. I said, Roy, that was wrong, but I don't want to correct my brother on air. Salute.

00:22:48

Well, guess what? You— it was a test and everyone failed except for Tony. And by the way, the image snafu happened after you guys failed the test, Mike. Nice try. Nobody knows.

00:22:58

I was standing out there in front of it because it's a weekly occurrence. That's more dependable than your actual appearance. And the guy that we've done like 7 shows where we're like, where's Amin? Says he's here every week reliably.

00:23:10

Get over yourself. You can set your watch, your calendar to me showing up every single Monday on time with my notes manicured and delivered with great professionalism. I take one week, which by the way, I alerted everybody. I alerted everybody. I said, hey, by the way, next week it's gonna be on a Thursday. Gonna be on a Thursday because I'm gonna be a dad for a change. I'm not gonna be a worker.

00:23:34

That's a playoff for me.

00:23:34

This is how capitalism works. Capitalism wants me with a yoke around me and I'm just hoeing the fields, hoeing the fields, hoeing the fields, giving you guys all crops. Oh, we only got so many crops this season. Guess what?

00:23:47

I don't like that analogy. I don't like that analogy.

00:23:50

Well, guess what?

00:23:51

No, no.

00:23:52

That's where we're at now, Mr. Capitalism.

00:23:54

That's a—

00:23:54

wait a minute, that's a very bad yoke.

00:23:56

That's not where we're— I did not put a yoke on you. Yoke's on you.

00:24:00

Editorial.

00:24:03

Nobody noticed I said GT beat Mississippi when it actually was Florida. Meanwhile, we were busy losing to a school that has a plant as a mascot. Honestly, fire the guy who answered the call for the most intimidating thing imaginable. By the way, it was my mistake. I got confused since the Gators won that game with former GT offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner, who was calling plays for former Tech quarterback Aaron Filo, who was throwing to former Georgia Tech wideouts Eric Singleton and Bailey Stockton. Meanwhile, I got the other Mendoza kid running for his life from Stanford. Unbelievable. But yeah, we lost to them.

00:24:43

You had them.

00:24:43

At one point, dude. You had them.

00:24:44

You were winning 20 to 10 and then you got blown out. What the hell happened?

00:24:47

Yeah, at one point it was 4th and 50, Dan.

00:24:53

Davis Horn.

00:24:53

Mendoza!

00:24:55

Not bad for Samford.

00:24:57

Not that Mendoza, the other Mendoza. Yeah, that's the one we got. Damn, he stinks. He does. No, no, no, no, I'm not gonna say he stinks. I'm gonna say he needs help. He needs a lot of help. Cinephobe this week, Hall of Fame class of 2023. 2023, the year that gave us the term Sean Astin digging a pool. Dan, do you know about Sean Astin digging a pool?

00:25:22

I do not.

00:25:23

So in the movie Encino Man, you know that Encino Man?

00:25:26

I know of Encino Man. I know, I know of it. I have not seen it.

00:25:30

Seen of it.

00:25:31

So Encino Man is— Brendan Fraser is like a Neanderthal and he gets dug up accidentally in the backyard of this suburban family. And so they take him to school and they, like, clean him up and pretend like he's a new student who's an exchange student. But the premise of the movie is that he got dug up because Sean Astin wants to have a pool party as far as a senior bash when they graduate. So he himself is digging up the pool in his parents' backyard. And I call that the single least believable plot point in the history of movies, to the point that now on Cinephobe, whenever something happens in the plot that just isn't believable. I can't suspend my disbelief for this. It's called Sean Astin digging a pool. 2023 also gave us Tommy Lasorda delivering a line so lifelessly, I can't imagine him doing it any worse today. Where is Ed the Chimp? I see too much personality. I did it too well. He's got— he's got to take out more personality, do it more lifeless. Where is— I can't do it. I got too much life in me. Cinephobe, wherever you get podcasts.

00:26:44

LeBron James said on media day, I didn't leave my family to lose in the second round. He also didn't leave his family to live in Philadelphia, folks. To hell with that. Yeah, there you go. He's choppering his ass in, man. No questions asked. You know what I like to imagine? He gets in the chopper and immediately the first thing he does, hand sanitizer. Just, baby, I have Philly all over me.

00:27:14

Stefon Argyle.

00:27:17

Jameis Winston is like the best friend you don't want dating your sister. You know, like there's that guy, it's like, hey, my buddy Jameis, he's a good guy, man. What? Give him a chance. Oh, would you let your sister date him? Like, oh, hell no, no. Oh, but you, you should.

00:27:42

Down, Le Batard.

00:27:43

I ain't never met nobody in the world that's gonna hate on Blue's Clues.

00:27:45

Great nomination.

00:27:46

Like, who don't like Blue's Clues, bro? If you don't like Blue's Clues, you're a loser.

00:27:51

Juju Gotti.

00:27:52

Look, you get one paw print, that's the first clue. You put it in a notebook. Now what do you do?

00:27:58

Woo!

00:27:58

Blue's Clues, Blue's Clues.

00:28:01

Sit on the chair and think about it.

00:28:02

This is the Dan Le Batard Show!

00:28:04

Grid of punishment. You're out of your fucking minds if you think you can stick me with the Cowboys. I have years of precedent on my side. I stepped out prior to helmet selection to record an episode of PTFO.

00:28:21

Get the Reaper in here. Get the Reaper in here.

00:28:23

Protocol!

00:28:23

The original pull was a Carolina Panthers. Denied!

00:28:26

Get the Reaper in here.

00:28:27

Let's go.

00:28:28

Denied!

00:28:29

Let's go. I want to end this segment.

00:28:30

Let's go. Protocol. Protocol has always been either we do the— we know it means leaving early. Let's do his pick early and then we'll do the rest of the picks, or let's do all the picks early. Or I was there on Friday. I could have come in the next day and picked on that day. Somehow we subvert protocol.

00:28:47

You would have kept the Panthers.

00:28:48

Either Cowboys.

00:28:49

Shut up.

00:28:49

I will be escalating this through the judicial system, and I've secured the law offices of Elhassan and McGillicuddy to represent me through the process.

00:28:55

Just one show, don't be defensive.

00:28:57

Speaking of hell, sticking me with that Cowboys helmet at Maracaná would represent the second most traumatic event to happen to me at Maracaná.

00:29:04

Chris, go ahead and grab the helmet. Love a good rummage.

00:29:06

July 8th, 2014. My personal hell. Speaking of hell, Argentina, those are the Weekend Observations. No, Mike, you're not picking for me. I don't want Mike picking for me.

00:29:16

I got the Lions.

00:29:18

I don't want Mike's. I don't want— no, no, I gotta see who's picking.

00:29:20

I got the Panthers. The Panthers are 3.5-point dog.

00:29:23

All right, this is for me in first pick. I don't think the Panthers are down. They're tough in Louisiana, Libby.

00:29:29

Not for me.

00:29:30

You don't want the Saints?

00:29:31

Who are they playing? At home against the Falcons. They're a 2.5-point favorite.

00:29:35

I don't want Mike picking for me. That pick is null and void. I get to select who picks for me. Juju, pick for me, please.

00:29:41

Feels racist.

00:29:43

And this is my first pick.

00:29:44

Uh, this is not—

00:29:45

I'm gonna, I'm gonna keep the Saints because I'm tough on Louisiana.

00:29:48

You're gonna keep the Saints? All right, this is not his first pick. This is the pick he's keeping right here.

00:29:54

Uh, what is this?

00:29:54

The Colts, they're at the Commanders. The Colts are a 3.5-point favorite at home.

00:29:58

First London game.

00:29:59

Send it back. Send it back.

00:30:02

How's he making all the rules? He comes here Thursday, hijacks the show.

00:30:07

The Rams.

00:30:08

Rams at the Eagles, 3-point favorite. You got them.

00:30:11

Give me them Rams. They're angry. You guys know that? They're angry.

00:30:15

Can you get him out of here? Just get him out of here. He's overstayed his welcome.

00:30:19

Be better.

00:30:19

By about 40 minutes. Get him out of here.

00:30:22

Be better.

00:30:23

4 days late and 40 minutes too long.

00:30:26

You know what?

00:30:26

Because I don't pay—

00:30:27

Ah, I got the Tennessee Titans, Dano.

00:30:31

Why would you want them?

00:30:32

I don't. And it's a revenge game. Derrick Henry against— Titans do not want that. Oh, he's gonna run for 1,000 yards. All right, here we go.

00:30:40

Rummaging one more leg.

00:30:41

Here we go. Undefeated on the season. Give me this. Oh, the Tennessee Titans again. Oh, me cago en la mierda.

00:30:50

Um, uh, the me cago en la mierda as a phrase is I shit on the shit.

00:30:54

I shit on the shit that this gave— the bucket just gave me.

00:30:57

No chance.

00:30:58

Uh, Juju, you really I just rummaged really hard, by the way. I was, I was stirring the pot.

00:31:04

Roy, go ahead and pick from the bucket there.

00:31:07

The Washington Commanders.

00:31:09

Uh, they are against the Colts, a 3.5-point underdog at home.

00:31:12

That's tremendous. I'm putting that back. Say what you mean.

00:31:16

That guy wouldn't let me head back.

00:31:18

Uh, swap helmet. Okay, so now we have to establish. And, uh, second helmet here is the Cleveland Browns.

00:31:26

So they're tonight, they play at home tonight against the Steelers and they are a 2.5-point dog.

00:31:32

They got a lot of momentum.

00:31:33

Uh, did Juju select Reaper? What are you doing?

00:31:36

Oh boy, bad look.

00:31:39

I don't like the way that looks.

00:31:40

Is this a replacement Reaper?

00:31:42

I don't like the way that looks. Waving off the Reaper. I can't wave anybody off.

00:31:46

It's a little bit offensive there.

00:31:48

Reaper just said he has black eyes.

00:31:49

The Jets. I'm putting the Jets back.

00:31:54

The Jets are at the Bears. They're a 3.5-point dog.

00:31:57

I got the Raiders.

00:31:59

Are they for real? That's a big game.

00:32:01

The Raiders are playing the Chiefs. They're a 4.5-point dog at home. Zaslow is going to select next. Chris, how are you doing with the itchiness? I am— can I, can I skip the postgame? Because I really am done with this. Yeah, you can go. Go ahead and get out of here. Get out of here. That's— he didn't make it.

00:32:18

Can I skip it too?

00:32:19

Yeah, you can go too.

00:32:21

Yeah!

00:32:21

You can get out of here.

00:32:22

I have a pink helmet and it says Big Apple.

00:32:26

So any New York team is what you're taking?

00:32:28

Any New York team.

00:32:29

Any New York team.

00:32:29

You can even take like baseball. Baseball, yep.

00:32:31

You can take a baseball game next year.

00:32:32

The Rangers, the Islanders.

00:32:34

Oh, it's gotta be the next game, Dan.

00:32:35

Does it?

00:32:35

Yeah, it's gotta be the next game.

00:32:36

I remember some— well, does it?

00:32:38

'Cause we did that. Next game in your sport.

00:32:39

We did that.

00:32:39

You could take the next Mets game.

00:32:40

Post-war series.

00:32:41

No, you could take like— no, no, whatever.

00:32:43

I could take the next Mets game?

00:32:44

Well, if you just wanna delay it, I think that you can. I think you're allowed to do that.

00:32:48

All right, I'm keeping this.

00:32:49

I've not made a final decision, but I am keeping this.

00:32:51

He can swap as well. Remember, you might not be able to keep it and you might get stuck with the Browns if it's too good. Because Roy's— look at Roy. Look at Roy's greedy eyes over there. He's got— look at Roy.

00:33:01

Roy is—

00:33:01

I've never seen him so interested in what it is that he could steal from me. This is the Ravens. The Ravens, we already established they're at home against the Titans. So I'll keep that as an 11.5-point favorite.

00:33:12

Biggest spread of the week.

00:33:14

Is that, is that what Roy's going to end up stealing from me?

00:33:16

No.

00:33:17

Can I take the Bills?

00:33:19

Uh, yes, you can take any New York team that you want.

00:33:21

No, because, uh, Amin was so, uh, tremendous, I'm gonna take the Rams away from him. He has the Browns.

00:33:28

Uh, good job by you, Roy, punishing Amin, who punished us, punished the audience. Uh, Amin shows up 4 days late, says he's always there when he's expected to be, when among our employees he's the least consistent in that regard. The, the least, I would say. There are any number of times he's been late. Do I— is this— am I saying something that is inaccurate, that, that he cannot be trusted to show up on time?

00:33:55

Yeah, it's inaccurate, Brad. Ameen be on time every time I see him. I don't see what you see.

00:34:02

I believe that there are some people here, and I'm not going to betray too many confidences, who simply refuse to work with Ameen because he cannot be counted on to show up when he says he's going to show up every single time. There are any The number of times that he has been—

00:34:20

What if Mike—
