That's right, yeah, it's Thursday Thunder, presented by DraftKings Sports. DraftKings, the crown is yours.
Juju.
Yes sir, man, Thursday Thunder, let's get this money, man. First leg, I'm going with my sister Big Paige buckets. She got Caitlin Clark coming in town tonight, and we all heard the news earlier this week that AZ Fudd is out for the season. So more unfortunately will be asked of my sister. So lock her in for at least 20 points right damn now. Next leg, unfortunately, I got the Indiana Fever -3.5 getting the dub tonight because two words, Kelsey Mitchell. And the last leg, I'm going with my dog in Hollywood again, man, from last week. Big Ray Burrell, big 15 points at least tonight. Lock it in, man. The crown is yours. Hottest team in the W, winners of 5 straight, 10-2 the last 12. Hello, look at my boy Juju.
Speaking of which, uh, Yazy Fudd out for the remainder of the season while Olivia Miles is having a sensational rookie season. She's clearly going to be Rookie of the Year. She might be one of the— I mean, she might be the best player in the league. I mean, I know A'ja Wilson's the best player in the league, but she like— she's going to be consistently one of the best players in the league. That number 1 overall pick for A'ja Fudd's a disaster at this point, right?
Yeah, I think it's a— it's a bit unfortunate for sure, because I know that her and Paige were so good teammates and has such a great relationship that that seemed like the obvious move. But now that we're looking, it seems as though there could have been other things they could have done. Done. But that's the butterfly effect. They could have done something else and the plane could have went the other way, and then now someone's Achilles tendon is out their shorts. So I think they did the best with what they had at the time.
Yeah, this Olivia Miles is just so good. While Azzi Fudd is a really good shooter but does nothing else, you know, like, like, like doesn't, doesn't assist, doesn't set up teammates, doesn't rebound. And yeah, to me it seems like a major missed opportunity because I think they wanted to appease Paige.
She's 10-day Tony, basically.
She ain't 10. I had 30 last night. I don't know what you're talking about. Okay, good.
She shoots, she scores, she doesn't pass, she doesn't rebound.
Oh, to pass?
I pass.
Come on.
My sister still came from under Geno Auriemma and that system at Connecticut, so she's got all the intangibles. She good on defense, great passer. She do more than that, but it's just unfortunate that Olivia Miles is having such a great season. It looks— it just makes everything she's doing look minuscule.
All right, so what's this MVP race look like right now in the WNBA?
Man, look, bro, at first it was Asia, it was Paige, it was Kelsey, it was Olivia. Now in my eyes, I think two have arisen and separated themselves from the pack. I think the MVP is either Olivia Miles or Kelsey Mitchell, no matter what.
So no matter what, let me ask you this, isn't there a Oh man, like it—
you all right?
Yeah, I'm just, I'm just—
hey brother, breathe.
Okay, all right. First of all, for a rookie to win MVP, it's awesome. I mean, it's awesome, but also it's, it feels like a little out there, no? I mean, that's never happened in the history of the W, and I think it's only happened one time. Oh, Candace Parker, you're right.
I mean But the tape— look at the tape. Look at every single game. Remember, this is the number one team in the WNBA right now, and for half of the season they did not have their MVP candidate in Nafissa Collier. She just came back 2 hours ago and they haven't skipped a beat. And I think that her being the admiral, the leader of that team, is just making it very obvious to me that they wouldn't be here without her. And I think that's the MVP.
Okay, so then the other argument Uh, for the other side, another counterargument for the other side is that isn't there a fear that the voters will split between Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell? Like, is it like in the Steph KD way in Golden State, like you'll never win MVP as long as you play together?
If they are biased, they will split. If they have— if they come in the room with a prerequisite of what Caitlin Clark is and what Caitlin Clark means to the game, yes, they'll be split. But if they watching the games, watching film in late game scenarios, who can you rely on and who's gonna goof up. Like, brother, if there is no other answer than Kelsey Mitchell— on top of that, I like to commend Kelsey Mitchell as well for just her stoicness, because all year long people praise Caitlin. People say she's the best at this, best at that, when Kelsey Mitchell could feel like, oh hey guys, or she could speak up once or twice and be like, you know what, I don't agree with my teammate Sophie Cunningham, I'm a Black woman. Like, she don't never cause no ripples. She don't never not have her teammates' back. And I think that goes as well into what it takes to be the MVP.
So Caitlin Clark doesn't even get a mention from you for MVP candidates, huh?
Bruh, sis is fire. Sis is definitely fire. But she has had ups and downs this season. It took her a while to get going this season, but it didn't take Kelsey nothing but the basketball being checked.
What happened in Kelsey's career? Because this is the best year she's ever had. Like, what changed in that progression?
I think the eyes. The eyes that come along with Caitlin Clark came with more appreciation. Like, sis been killing. She been a dog. But, you know, you get that extra little motivation as well when it's a packed house in here versus me and Tyrese Halliburton the only people in the stands. Like, I think sis has just rose to the occasion, and all of her training and hard work that she done previous to the W is all coming to pay off right now.
Juju, you got a top 5 for us here today?
Brother, yes, sir. I thought you would never ask, man. Brother, for some reason, man, when you took your hat off earlier, I was like, oh, that's Mr. Clean's son right there. That's, that's your daddy, bro. Salute to Mr. Zaslow. But I don't know, bro. So it made me think, who are the top 5 celebrity kids that look like they damn parents?
Oh wow, that's a good one.
All right, yes sir. Number 5, Jeffrey Atkins Jr. and Ja Rule. They found a tumor in my chest.
Oh my God.
You've never seen that?
I mean, he's tall Ja Rule. Well, not tall, he's not short Ja Rule is what I should say.
Taller, right?
Right.
He looks more like Ja Rule than Ja Rule.
Exactly, brother. Salute to that young brother getting his degree as well.
It's amazing.
Number, number 4, Metal World Peace and Ron Artest III.
That's not, that's not, that's not also Ron Artest.
No.
Right, bro, looking just like them.
They got the same hairline. This is incredible.
Wow, right? Number 3, Cindy Crawford and Kaia Gerber. What?
Kaia Gerber's mom is in the crowd.
Who's that? Good fans. Oh, she's on the show right now. It's a TV show she's on right now called The Shards. Hey, Shards is tough. I like Shards, Juju. I'm— I gotta watch the next 2 episodes tonight.
Talk to me.
Yes, sir, man.
Shards.
Chris knows all about those shards.
Number 2, Blue Ivy and Beyoncé. Come on, man. Sister spit out a damn child. Wow. Look at him. Okay, which is the irony, because when she was younger, she looked like her dad, just like Jay-Z, right? Yeah, man, she love— time flies, but we are all old in Washington. And the number one celebrity kid that looked just like his damn daddy, O'Shea Jackson Jr. and Ice Cube. Come on, man, could be brothers.
Played it, played him in the movie. Yep, right?
Stupid Jerry Curl juice dripping everywhere.
I like it.
I wonder how he feels about the Lakers. He's a big Laker fan.
Yep, we should get him on.
We should get him on because I want to know his take on this, uh, this throwback Lakers team, if you will. The Mykins Lakers that are out there for him.
Minneapolis Lakers. It's no time.
Let's update our polls here, Juju. What do we got?
If you have Canadian citizenship, can you call yourself Canadian? 89% of the audience says yes, you can. Absolutely horrific.
The Canadian.
And last poll, do you miss calling it the Taxi Squad?
Yeah.
Thanks for nothing said no one born after 1980 knows what this is. And he's wrong because 59% of the audience says yes, they miss calling it the Taxi Squad. And those are your polls. Absolutely horrific.
See, there it is. Good job, Juju.
Thanks, Juju.
You dress whiter than a Nancy Meyers movie. Thank you. Good night, everybody.
