That's right, it's Thursday Thunder, presented by DraftKings Sports. DraftKings, the crown is yours. Go ahead, Juju.
Yes, sir, man. Thursday Thunder, we return. First leg, man, I got my brother Jean-Claude Dave Damashek in the building today. Did I get that right, or was it Dave Jean-Claude Van Damme? Damashek. Either way, I got a couple of football picks. It's close enough. I got a couple of football picks. I want to see if they get your approval for tonight's matchups.
Shoot, Elton Brand, look at you wearing the proud Clippers jersey.
Come on, man, you already know. First leg, I'm taking the Buffalo Bulls to cover -18.5 against UAlbany tonight.
Go Bulls!
What you think, Dave? You like that one?
I like, uh, I like you participating in that game because you're so excited about the start of football.
College football is here and it doesn't matter who the teams are. You gotta watch your college football. What else you got?
I couldn't even tell you who Buffalo's playing anymore.
Doesn't matter. Just uniforms and money running up and down the field.
Yes, sir, man. Next leg, just like the owl comes out at night, Kennesaw State will kick ass tonight. I'm taking the -22.5 against West Georgia. Dave, what you think? A lot.
Jean-Claude? Oh, that's very strong. I can't, I can't offer any pushback on that.
Juju, you can't do what you're doing in this last one. You just can't do what you're doing here.
The 3rd one, Arkansas Pine Bluff +54.5 Oh. At Missouri. We are taking the points, Juju.
You can't do that.
And what do you think of that, Dave?
You can't do that.
I love the bookmakers at 54. How much, how much do you think they're gonna win by? Like 54? I don't know, 55? Let's find the middle now. The hook, 54.5.
That is such a good week.
I'm taking those Golden Lions, baby. You got to know. I don't believe it. Prove it, Missouri. Prove it.
Prove what?
Uh, before we finish up here today, uh, I just want to say something, and nothing personal. Coca, all-time gag job. All time. Like a historic gag job by you. You practiced for 20 minutes out there, 20 minutes throwing a ball. You dented an intern, you caused me a human resources problem, and you missed all 5 throws. Like, just infuriating. And honestly, You should be fired.
But don't forget, it was Tony's idea.
Oh, wow.
No, I mean, 0 for 5. Just an all-time gag job on just shitting on the show. Nothing personal. Next week, all week from Miami, Coka and David Samson.
We gotta come up with a punishment for him next week.
Unbelievable.
We had such a good week too. And the last thing I know that Dan's gonna close his eyes and look at when he, when he lays his head on his pillow and he's sitting there being like, wow, what an amazing company I have. And then all of a sudden it's gonna be Coka missing the throws.
I just don't know how I come in here this morning and I go from loving this company to hating it in 3 hours, and it's all Coca's fault and Tony's. It's not just all Coca's fault, but how was Tony— how was somebody more incompetent than Tony there? Like, how does that even happen?
Kalai Leonard.
Uh, Juju, do you have some awards to give out to everybody?
Yes, sir, man. Of course, man. First of all, I would like to give out the Silly Goose Award to my brother Dave Jean-Claude Van Damme.
Congratulations.
You had the Nick Collison situation.
Yeah.
And you had that wiggle room snafu, you dig?
Yeah, you silly goose. Salute. That wasn't my mistake. What the hell does that mean, wiggle room?
It wasn't your mistake, but it's your award to take home, brother.
I'll wear it.
Next up, I'd like to give the Endurance Award to my brother for the intro, all that energy and excitement, Dan Le Batard.
Good job, Dan.
Just caught his breath right now.
Good job, Dan.
You breathing normally now?
I still haven't.
I was so worried about you, big bro.
Our showrunner came in here and thought 15 minutes in that he was going to have to call for an ambulance because he was genuinely worried about my health. Shunner.
I'd like to give the Quarterback Accuracy Award and Comeback Kid of the Year Award to my brother, Tony. No way.
These awards are invalid.
3 for 6. 3 for 6 over 2 days. That's 50%.
If I'm shooting 3s, that's amazing.
Kawhi Leonard. I also like to give the Howdy Cowboy Award, Album Dropping Tomorrow Award, to my brother and yours, Jeremy Tashay.
Good job.
Thanks, y'all.
Is it a whole album or is it a single?
It's a song, but that's fine. We'll see if there's an album to come. Hopefully it also drops tomorrow. There's an album. This album has been giving me some issues.
There's an album cover.
Okay, an album cover for a single.
For a single, that's how it works. There's a cover for a single, you see it? That's me, and it's totally original and definitely my own and not a knockoff of anything else.
Real quick here before we get to the polls here, just, I want to ask the question again just because to put a bow on the last few hours of everything that's happened around here. When Kawhi Leonard reportedly did not have any knowledge of the salary cap circumvention that was going on per Shams, and we just talked about everything we talked about with, wait a minute, why did ESPN run that story in which the clip were denying. Like, Shams is the most credible one there is. He's reporting something now that is possible if Kawhi is just allowing Uncle Dennis to handle everything, but it would make you believe that Kawhi was getting millions and millions and millions of dollars on the side and didn't know about it. How is that possible in a sane world?
He sees deposits from something called Aspiration. Like, yeah, I don't know what this is, but it's legit. Well, when you say that, it reminds me of the Ohtani scandal from a year ago. There it is. Isn't it very weird when you reach a financial level that you straight up don't notice that level of money moving around?
Well, I do believe that these guys can be so lopsided about not thinking about anything but the thing that they have to be great at that they can get duped a lot on their finances. But when I pair together the idea of Shams is your most credible guy and he's reporting something that is almost literally the definition of incredible, like What do you mean Kawhi Leonard was getting tens of millions of dollars and did not understand any of it?
According to reports, y'all.
This plays to sort of the stereotypes of like, is he just a fool? Like, is he just— like, if it's true, is Shams reporting that Kawhi is just a fool when it comes to money?
I'm curious. I know that you just asked what is intended as a rhetorical question. I throw it back at you. Do you think that there's a reality in which Kawhi was duped by people?
I can actually believe it because it could have happened to me. My father could have bilked me in my early 20s because I wasn't paying attention to any of it at all. Like, my father could have taken all of my money. I was simply not paying attention to it. But I don't believe anybody will believe what it is that Shams is reporting here, and I'm asking you again, if your most credible guy is reporting something, and now we're at the point where people don't believe the most credible guy. Like, what are we doing?
Well, it seems like the NBA is agreeing or signing off on Kawhi's explanation that he didn't know anything, right? He's the guy who didn't get hammered, so the story he sold seems to—
No, but it's not just that though. They can't punish him because they're the collect— no, because everything—
Because of the collective bargaining agreement.
No, everything that was covered today suggests that Kawhi Leonard had to make a deal because there weren't rules to punish him based on the collective bargaining agreement and based on every— they punished him twice as much as you're allowed financially, but because they've got a players union, Kawhi doesn't actually have to follow the rules here.
But since he didn't do anything, it's like, all right, you're going to take the $700 grand even though I didn't know about it. Like, we'll just take it just to kind of like appease everybody.
Well, no, but the idea of a $700,000 fine against— you made how many tens of millions of dollars?
Unless we're saying he didn't, right?
Extra, extra though. But right, that's my point. It all went to Uncle Dennis. That's what we're saying. Like, that's what Kawhi's saying in his statement. In statement, Kawhi is saying that as well. What's true here, Zazz?
I don't think he's saying that the money went to Uncle Dennis. I think he's saying Uncle Dennis was the mastermind, and he's trying to make you believe he didn't realize that he was getting paid from outside sources, and I obviously don't buy that.
Juju, let's update the polls here today.
Yes, sir, man. But quickly, to touch on y'all's subject, I'd like to declare September 2nd every year moving forward Pablo Torre Day, you dig? Can I get an amen?
Yes.
Amen. Amen. Yes.
Yes, sir. Any opposed, raise your hand right now. Yes, sir. And I think—
oh, come on.
Yes, sir. Come on, Dan. Well, the yeas still outweigh the nays, so— I thought you were asking for votes of support.
My bad.
I was not opposing. I thought I heard you say, like, anyone support Pablo Torre?
He just doesn't listen.
Minor penalty, 2 minutes for not listening to the show.
This guy.
Remember, Tony said yes. Cody put his hand up because he saw Dan put his hand up.
Dan did put his hand up.
Cody just wasn't listening.
I don't want to name—
wow, it's so interesting. The, the hook for The Diary of a Personable Fella starts with, everybody in the club, put your hands up.
So please show yourself out.
We got one poll for today.
2 minutes in the box.
Best— see you, Jeremy.
It's for Tony, right? Let me add it down.
See you, Jeremy.
All right, see y'all.
I'm off the hook.
What is the poll, Juju?
Sometimes dessert first can be great, right? 78% of the audience says yes, and that is your poll.
So Dan, I know you wanted Amin to be here because we spoke with Pablo and we spoke with David. Unfortunately, he can't make it, but he did send me a voice note explaining what was going on.
Your call has been forwarded to an automatic voice message system. At the tone, please record your message. When you have finished recording, you may hang up or press 1 for more options.
Hello, hi, Amin. This is Feebula, EP of the Dan Levitar Show and also CEO of Medullark Media and also chairman of the Ratkins. I'm just calling you to reassure you that it was just a clerical oversight that you were not on the show today, despite appearances by both Pablo and David Sampson. We greatly value your contributions around here and don't just see you as a comic relief buffoon to arouse from slumber in the middle of the night on the West Coast in order to come up with a bit that, uh, does not even make the actual So, or post-show. To recognize your great work, I'm authorizing a salary raise to $7 million. That's my new bit. I repeat numbers and then I laugh afterwards, and maybe some lightning and thunder happen in the background. I totally came up with this on my own just now, and I'm the first to ever do that. $7 million per year for 4 years, and you don't even need to show up or do anything if you don't want. It is a brilliant scheme. I call it a no-show, uh, that I came up with again all on my own right now, just kind of kicking it around in my room by myself.
Anyways, don't bother calling me back. Uh, by the time you get this message, the direct deposit will have already hit. Uh, okay, I— excuse me, I have to get back to the hot tub with Scarlett Johansson and Rihanna. Yes, ladies, I'll be right there. Okay, okay, man, bye-bye.
"I was so worried about you, big bro."
JuJu has takes on the Clippers, Kawhi Leonard, and the show intro from earlier today, and he has some show awards that infuriate Dan. Plus, we hear from Fibula.
