I was a more broken up than I thought when I saw it. Just because he, you know, we had him on the act 10 days ago. He had a kidney disease that he's had since 2006. Needed a kidney transplant. Really, really sad. Just one of the best dudes ever and four kids and like he. And I would text all the time about, you know, kids and. And fatherhood and he was just. He was just the best. Like, he. You could see it too, on the Internet, the amount of people who considered Nick Mangold a Friend was really a testament to how great of a guy he was, because it was just outpouring of people from everywhere being like, hey, you know, I was at Ohio State with Nick Mangold. I was his friend. I was, you know, I knew him from, you know, living in New Jersey with him all walks of life. Just one of those guys that you literally, like, couldn't find a person who didn't love him.

So, yeah, it was an emotional day, Memes. And it was. It was hard to see because I thought. I thought it was gonna. I thought he was gonna get a kidney. It also just a reminder to people that you should be an organ donor. It's very easy to do on your license. It's. It's super easy. You could save a life and. But yeah, I. I agree. Memes. It was an emotional day, and I think that was part of maybe being a little broken up after the game as well.

Nick was a. He was a great dude. Like, every interaction that you ever had with him, he was the friendliest person that ever came into the office, and everybody loved him. It was shocking when I woke up this morning and saw that, like, I. I was not expecting to see that. We were all hoping the best for him, and it's just a really, really sad way to start a day. I. I know that, like, he had a family that. That cared about him very deeply. So, like, obviously, you know, the. The tie in today with the jets game was something that people talked about, but, like, I was just, like, kind of broken up as a human when I saw that this morning. Um, and yeah, he was a great football player. He was an awesome dude. I loved having him around, loved having him in the office. He always had, like, he would just bring us, like, his sauces and stuff and be like, hey, here, I brought this for you guys to try. Check it out. He would just, like, yes, he would make small talk with everybody, thought about everyone. Just a great guy.

It sucks.

And I think that, yeah, the hard, personally, like, I, you know, my last. I went back and looked and, like, the last texts I had with him were like, five days ago, planning on him getting healthy and coming doing a case race or doing the Gauntlet or hanging out with us. So, like, seeing that, that's. That's where it. It really hurt. But yes, please be an organ donor and just cherish the little moments and memes to bring it back to the Jets. This was also Aaron Glenn first win as an NFL head coach. Also math guy. Math guy.

It was a first and goal from like the 4 pitch to Breece Hall. Obviously the play was for him to throw the ball. He pumped fakes. It looks like no one's open. It looks like he's going to get screwed. He throws it to the back of the end zone and Mason Taylor makes an awesome catch game winner. That was sick.

Yeah. No, I. I thought it was one of the worst play calls at the time. I was like, is he going to throw it? Is he going to throw it? Is he going to throw it? Then he did throw it and then Mason Taylor just moss him. So that was one of those moments where everything was just going in the jets direction. Historically, that's an interception thrown by Breeze Hall.

But today was just the jets day.

And he finally scored today. Scored. Scored twice and through a touchdown pass. Yeah, this is good. This is the free 20 movement that we've been hoping for.

Finally paying off 502 total yards of offense for the Jets. It was great. The Bengals defense is horrifically bad. Horrifically, horrifically bad. Because this was a game. I'm sure you felt this way memes pretty much the whole game. You're like, this is. It's just a two score. It's a. It's a two touchdown game right now. And it just felt like it was going to be that for the rest of the game. And then you have that. You know, I think it was fourth and one with like eight minutes left in the fourth quarter, down 14. You're like, there's no way the jets are going to get this. This game's going to end. The Bengals are going to win by two. Two touchdowns. And then it all flipped from there.

Yeah. Today was just a team of destiny vibes for this game.

I'm willing to listen to anybody to tell me anything they want to tell me. I'm willing to listen to their ideas, too. That's a long way of saying I do the bare minimum as a human being.

I think that it's him saying, like, I think that I'm cool. Like, there's nothing about me and, and my background and what I'm about that should be uniting me with any of these guys who. But sometimes I say hi to him and I think that they like it when I talk.

For the Bengals, that was as bad as bad gets in terms of defense. Their defense is so, so bad. That was the second time in 25 years the jets have gained 500 yards of offense. Actually both of them coming against the Bengals. But they are, they're horrifically bad. They had a win rate, pass, pass, rush win rate of 1.3%. Do you know how, do you know how bad that is?

It's very bad.

That's so, so bad. They, the Bengals, when scoring 38 plus points the last two seasons are 1 and 3. First 56 seasons, 54 and 4. That's. They're, they're, they're, they're doing the same thing they did last year where they. You scored 38 points in the NFL. You should win the game. They did not win the game. They got absolutely diced apart by a Jets offense that was not good up until this point. And it also, it feels like as good as the Joe Flacco was the story, him playing well, him maybe giving hope to the Bengals fans, which I bought in on because it's Joe Flacco doesn't feel great. For the Bengals locker room, they. Jamar Chase was asked after the game how what they got to do to change up losing games, even when they're putting up points. He said, I don't know. Ask Zach. It ain't my job. I play offense, not defense. So he passed it to Zach Taylor, the head coach. And then Zach Taylor said on the Bengals lost to the jets. Not acceptable. Humbling. Someone's needs to step up and lead the group.

But, but the. This game is, and I said this on Friday and I know people are going to want me to like freak out and say the sky is falling. I did not expect to win this game. Did I expect it was going to be Lamar Jackson and that was how we're going to lose? Yes. Tyler Huntley, I do not think is as bad as. He's better than Cooper Rush. The Bears defense, I've been saying it for the last four weeks, when the takeaways go away, it's not going to look good. And that's what happened today where you had no turnovers. We didn't take the ball away. The cornerbacks are not great. They're very injured. The pass rush has no dudes outside of Montez sweat. Like, there's just no difference makers overall that can change the course of a game. And Caleb has to play better. He has to play better because it's.

We're kind of in that spot now where I'm, I'm taking the whole year as I'm not freaking out game to game. But he has to start playing better and he has to start like the games where the defense can't take the ball away, that's when the offense has to step up. We've had games where the defense has saved the offense. These are the type of games where it's a winnable game that you have to be able to score touchdowns, not field goals. And that's the biggest thing is they. The first three weeks for the Bears, they were 6 for 7 in the red zone in terms of touchdowns. Since then, four weeks, four through eight, they're five for 16. They get in the red zone. They don't score touchdowns. You saw it in the first two drives of the game that were looking good and then stalled out. And I don't really know what that is, but it's got to be better.

When Caleb panics. You know how we say Josh Allen just hits all the buttons? Caleb does a thing where you just hold down the pass button really hard.

And when he's, when he's spinning around and he's like not getting to his or he sees his first read not open, he feels a pass rush sometimes that may or may not be there. His answer is always just like, throw the ball harder. Yeah. It's just. That's it. That's where he loses a lot of the accuracy when he goes to like the second guy or the third guy. I don't know. Today the Ravens played pretty good. They played good football.

Roquan coming back for the Ravens was huge for their defense and they cheated everywhere.

And C.J. stroud looked really good.

And turns out he's a really good quarterback when they can block for him.

And not having Fred Warner on defense for the Niners, it hurts them a lot. Well, they lost any game like this.

Okay. Patriots 32, Browns 13 Hank Yes. That was every Browns game ever. We said it a few weeks ago. The Browns do the same thing every single week. Their defense is awesome in the first half. Then their defense can't stay on the field forever and their opponent kicks the shit out of them. They held the Patriots to three field goals in the first half. Then the Patriots absolutely whooped the shit out of them in the second half.

Yeah, no, the defense was really, really good. They made Drake may look human. Threw a bad, pretty bad interception in the first half, but it was a good win. Like he was getting the ball out quickly. He kind of adjusted to the pressure coming. He was getting the ball quickly, still making accurate deep throws. And it ended up being like a snoozer. No doubt. Or in the second half. But there was a, there was a solid portion of the first half where I was like this. This feels a little sketchy.

Yeah, you're playing with him a little bit. And then the Browns did a pretty hilarious move. They caught a flea flicker that didn't work. And then they Immediately followed it up with a double pass to Dylan Gabriel. They were trying to throw it back to him and then find somebody downfield. That also didn't work. I think they did two gadget plays in a row for a total of two yards. And we were hoping that they were just going to do all gadgets, just turn the entire Browns offense into nothing but gadgets. Because at that point, it's like they did not think that they could beat you with their offense. They were just hoping for like a couple fluke plays and then to have their defense maybe get a score at some point. And it looked like, like the Browns defense is good enough to do stuff like that. They're good enough to keep you in games, but then after a while they're just like, I, I don't know how much more dominant Miles Garrett could be in the game. I really don't.

Five sacks.

He played like the most dominant game ever. They were, they were double teaming him. They were chipping him like every play. He didn't care. He was going to get a sack and to get that from your defense and then just have nothing to do on offense was tough to watch.

Dylan Gabriel's terrible.

Dylan Gabriel's terrible. So Miles Garrett had five sacks. He is the 20th guy to do that since 1982. No other guy had their team lose by more than three points. Most of them won because if you're, if you're, if a defensive player gets five sacks, you're probably going to win the game. But the very worst was a loss by three. The Browns lost by 19. That just tells you how bad the Browns offense is. They had a good opening script and then everything else after. Miles Garrett had more, more sacks than Dylan Gabriel's yards per attempt at four and a half.

It's brutal. I don't know. He can't be the answer after the game.

Miles Garrett kind of. He kind of little broed Drake May after getting beaten by Drake May. That's how good his game was.

It was like a legitimate. We. There's 12 dudes sleeping on it perfectly fine. We started in Nashville Thursday night. Didn't leave till like 1am so we got to Nashville, had some drinks. Everyone. Everyone was filing in, got on the bus, drove to Blacksburg, Virginia, because it was. Zach went to Virginia Tech.

How long was that truck?

A big majority. Hokies. I don't. Seven hours, eight hours. We were playing dice, playing cards. Like it was the first night. It was the classic, like, you go way too hard on night one. Finally fell asleep on the bus, woke up up.

We were at.

Woke up at a golf course, and it was like, hey, wake up. We're teen off in 20 minutes.

If you had to redo night one, you'd probably go to sleep a little bit earlier. Oh, yeah, Try to sleep a little bit earlier.

It was hard. It was a hard it wasn't easy. It was like we. We golved at 9am so you don't, you can't miss that.

But yeah, it was like starting. I was like, all right, well, I'm kind of hungover. Like, might as well start drinking early. Great round of golf, beautiful golf course. And then we went again. It was all Virginia Tech. And so they're all, you know, excited to go out, hit the town before the game, go to Blacksburg, 25 year anniversary of Enter Sandman.

We didn't leave till 2am like, we left. We went to the bar. So the bars closed and then got on the bus and left. They have this drink, I think the place is called Tots and it's called, called a Rail. And it's like everyone at college towns is like, oh, oh, you got to try this drink. It's the best drink. It'll, you know, get you so up. And it's like, yeah, every college bar says that. Probably not that big a deal. I have and I think I had two of them.

I have never in my life. Then I woke up Saturday. I'm like, don't hear anyone on the bus. I'm like, oh, everyone must be still asleep. You know, we're probably not even there yet. I get up, everyone was gone. Everyone's off the bus already.

And where are you now?

We're in Columbia, South Carolina.

The real is that's a, a very true story about the rail. Everybody has two rails their first time because they've heard about this drink. And then who knows what happens for the rest of the night. And then they're like, I'm never having two rails again. Except when they have a friend in town. They're like, you got to try the rails. Then their friend has two rails.

Yeah. And it was, it was like I legitimately like felt like my head was like four times as big as it was supposed to be the next morning. Like I thought it was going to explode. Like I actually thought my head was going to explode. Everyone, they had got one hotel room so people could shower. But that hotel room was like a 40 minute walk from where the bus was. I was like, I'm not showering like that. The showering. I didn't shower the entire weekend. And after, after about an hour of like, I was legitimately just like lying on the ground on pavement in the sun, like moaning and Groaning every time I moved. And finally, like, I took some. Some Advil. It, like, finally I was like, all right, I can, like, think. And then I just started drinking again. Went to South Carolina, which is beautiful. Beautiful school. Beautiful. One of the only SEC schools I haven't really been to. Reminded me a lot of LSU in terms of, like, the. It's kind of in the middle of nowhere, a little bit sketchy, but like, an awesome college town. Logistically. One of the worst places to leave I've ever been to.

It's kind of like Soldier Field. Like, yeah, we left the game. It was like your. Your. The bar we're trying to go to is a mile and a half away. It was going to take two hours to drive.

You were part of Cocktober, though.

We were part of Cocktober. I went on the. The. What was it called? The Cockaboose. There's a train right outside. Yeah, train right outside the stadium that, like, you know, like, donors, like, pay a bunch of money to have this little, like, basically, like a private little, you know, train living room with TV area that's, like, literally one second outside the stadium. The boost. That was fun.

Sandstorm was electric. They did say something like 20 times.

He's like, I've been on this bus for way too long to not know half these guys.

It's like, you meet everyone the first time. Yeah. And then it was like, yeah, we went out Friday, and then Saturday, I was, like, looking around.

So, yeah, the Broncos running game looked incredible today. Yeah, they were getting whatever they wanted. So J.K. dobbins had seven and a half yards per carry. R.J. harvey had six and a half yards per carry. Mims even had six yards per carry. It was just dominant. And Quinn Miners was just steamrolling dudes out there. He was just. The pancake reel of Quinn Miners from this game is going to be incredible to watch because they were just getting their big boys downhill. And Sean Payton was, he was enjoying, he was enjoying just physically dominating the Cowboys defense. And then Michael Irvin said it pretty good. He said, this cannot be an NFL defense that's wearing the Cowboys helmets. Space five exclamation points. It looked ugly on the Cowboys side of the ball.

Why would you ever put your defense back on the field? You have to just go for it on every fourth down and just become that team.
