Yep.
We're going to get into the game preview. Hank, I. Well, no. Every time I ask this, it always goes sideways. How are you feeling? But I. We. We should talk all the other stuff. NBA trade deadline, everything. But I do want to ask how you're feeling.
I feel great. I feel awesome. How are you feeling?
I feel tired and ready to go home.
I'm sorry to hear that. I feel.
I feel.
I feel.
I feel fantastic. I'm ready to go.
Is that not an okay answer?
No, it is. Yeah. I feel. I'm sorry for you.
How excited are you for us to leave?
So.
So I'm going to miss you guys.
How excited are you for me to leave?
I'm going to miss you a lot. I mean, you look good. We've had such a good week. Like, I think I've. You know, it's gonna feel weird.
Yeah. We were joking about I might get sick. We were. Well, don't talk about that fire fest with Zach. Who's not here. 0 out of 10 by Zach for Super bowl weekend.
It's okay.
It's all right.
I'm slightly concerned about Zach because Zach will not share any. Like, everything's HIPAA as far as he goes. Like, he just says that he's fine. I asked him the other day when he found out he was sick. I said, when was the last time you. You were sick? And he. His answer was like, my fever's basically gone and I haven't thrown up since.
Earlier.
Yeah.
And then I'm like, wait, define earlier. So then Zach's like, well, it was like an hour ago, two hours ago. And listen, you always threw up earlier.
Yeah, we. We've all been. Unless he was mid. Throwing up during the tax.
Yeah, yeah. No, Zach. Zach is an AI. Like, I have to do an AI type prompt to him. I do. Parentheses do not lie.
Yeah.
At the end.
Well, he said I texted because right before we recorded, I was like, how are you feeling? He said, I' symptoms just a little congested. Then I walked in the room, and you guys were like, he's got 101 degree fever still.
Yeah.
So he's given conflicting reports. We. We miss Zach. We love Zach. He. We'll get to it on fire for. Maybe we'll call him. Even though he's literally three doors down, locked in his hotel room. But let's do all the other stuff before we get to the big game.
Okay.
NBA trade deadline.
Yeah.
Lot of trades.
Yeah.
All of our teams impacted.
No Giannis.
No Giannis. We are going to Shams. Thanks for nothing, dude.
This always happens.
It's always happening.
All the people that. Down the road, all the people that say, like, nothing ever happens. We always wake up every morning. It doesn't matter if it's like sports news, if it's like world political news, everyone's hair is on fire, everyone's panicking, and nothing ever happens. Giannis is never going to get traded.
Yeah.
The.
The.
The.
The trade deadline was a couple big ones, like Kristaps to the warriors and Anthony Davis to the, to the wizards.
Yeah.
Jared McCain getting traded. The Bulls trading for every single second round pick that's ever been created. That's pretty much it.
Yeah. How do you so, so the Bulls trades, I tried to keep up with them. I have no idea what the, what's, what is the plan? Do they have a plan?
So, all right, so the problem with the ball. Well, there's a lot of problems with the Bulls and I should say fuck Jerry Reinzer just as a blanket statement because a lot of times what will happen is it will be a front office. Fuck the front office. But that just basically carries water for Jerry Reinsorf being a piece of shit. And I think he, like, he publicly says the best thing to do is finish second place so that the fans will think next year's the year. The Bulls traded everyone. They have decided they're going to build the rebuild out of guards and second round picks. They traded everyone when the players were at their worst value. Like they mistimed every single trade. And this is going back to Caruso, Levine, Vuch a couple days ago, IO, Kobe, White. They basically were like, hey, what would be the smartest time to trade them? Let's wait a year and then trade them.
Yeah.
And that's what they've done. They have traded the entire roster, essentially, except Patrick Williams, which is very funny. They've traded almost everyone on the entire roster in the last two years. They have netted one single first round pick out of it. And the one single first round pick they netted was their own pick that they were getting back. That's where the balls are at. Maybe they're all yokiches. They're all these second round picks, 14 of them. But yeah, they have a, they have an awesome G League team now that's going to also wear the Bulls jersey. Mac McClung's actually got called up.
I love that.
The.
I think we talked about the Jaden Ivy, which is, that's like, he's, he could be good. He got like very, very bad injury last year that took a lot of his burst away. Maybe he'll be good. Colin Sexton. That was just swapping pieces. Yabu Yabu's on the Bulls now. He's been passed around by everyone.
Right. You guys took his contract.
Yeah, I know. Which, that one made no sense because at one point it was like, oh, the Bulls are actually doing the right thing. They're tanking. They're not going to make the plan. They're going to clear the books. They're going to take a flyer on a Jaden Ivey. They're going to take a flyer on Anthony Simons. They're going to maybe. You know, these guys are going to be free agents in the summer. They're like, yeah, let's get Yaboo and just pay them $7 million because we needed a single big. So yeah, it's a mess.
Big ass.
Big ass. It is funny looking at all the second round picks, 14 of them.
That is the kind of trade though that will piss you off the most as a fan. Yeah, I don't even know what this team's going to look like in two.
Years and I feel like Miles, can you convert like you know, 14 second round picks for like two first.
I honestly like, you have to at least call the Bucks and be like, how about Giannis for 14 second rounders? You got to have them say no. Yeah, the, the, the other thing that like I don't think they'll make the play in but if this team fucking makes a play and I'm going to lose my mind like, because it actually does look like they're doing the correct thing of not making the play and realizing that this team is so far away from. But it would be so Bulls to. Because they added the perfect amount of guys that are like every single guy is. If you just watch his highlight tape, he's a problem and then you watch him play actual basketball like, okay, that makes sense that he got traded but like Dillingham and Simons and Jaden Ivy, like, oh, they could all get hot at the same time and get the 10 seed. If that happens, I will be so upset.
Well, all these guys have a lot to play for. They do like establishing themselves as NBA, NBA players and they, that is a very dangerous spot to be in. Yeah, like guy. All guys with potential that are extremely motivated could get you to that nine seed.
The Bulls are basically just walking around right now. It's, it's like, you know when, when we were kids. Pft. When actual, you know, like having a quarter meant something because you could make a phone call or something like that. Now change. When you have, when you go somewhere, you go to 711 and you get 56 cents of change. You're like, what am I going to do with this? That's basically what the Bulls have in their pocket with their second round picks. They're walking around with 38 cents and change. They have a couple pennies, a dime, a nickel. You're like, okay, dude, yeah, you could.
Get, you could get a very fine juice you could get a Juicy Juice for that. You could if. If you had the dime. You remember when they up the phone call to 35 cents? Yeah, that was a pain in the ass.
No, what they should do is they should put it in that little dish that saves, like, little Mexican kids.
Yeah.
Or I mean, whatever it is. Isn't it like a little, you know, the. The thing, the slot you put it in. Save some kid in some foreign country that you don't know where the money's going.
Yeah.
You guys know what I'm talking about.
That's just.
What are you laughing about? Me?
It goes to seven.
You just referenced it. Yeah, but am I right?
You're right.
You know exactly what I'm talking about. A little glass thing with the. There's a flyer on it and it's like, save this person.
Yeah.
It's a big.
Okay, kids. Yeah. It's just. Kids are getting saved.
Yeah.
That's what the Bulls are going to do.
You're gonna collect children.
Yeah. Second round picks. Just put them all. Go to 7, 11. Get yourself a nice Pepsi, zero sugar, and then put the rest of the second round picks in that little collection jar. Yeah, done.
I'm excited for Anthony Davis.
Yeah. Let's talk about the real trades because that was enough ranting about a team that is completely irrelevant. Yeah. I'm completely apathetic towards. Because Jerry Reinsdorf is a piece of.
Well, I. I've just been completely apathetic towards the Wizards for my entire life. About 41 years of my life. There's been flashes. When we had Michael Jordan, that was fun. Got to go watch him play. When we had Gilbert Arenas, that was good for like two years. Then when we had John Wall and. And Beal, that was fun for exactly one season. But the Wizards, I've always said that they are the most irrelevant North American sports franchise. I don't think it's close. And when I mean irrelevant, I mean, like, if you put a. If you put a list together of the most relevant teams and you have the Wizards at number one, people will even get mad at that list because they're like, I don't even want to think about the Wizards being on this list.
The worst thing that happened to the wizards taking the 1 spot for most irrelevant franchises is the Phoenix Coyotes going to Utah.
Yeah.
Because that would have been the only one.
That would be the one that you can clap back on.
Yeah.
But I mean, they had Gretzky as their head coach. They've done some. Some. I mean, the Wizards are irrelevant. They've always been irrelevant, and now it seems like we're, we're trying to do something. I could see this team being fun next year. It. You know what? Every single analysis I've seen of the Wizards, it always starts like, if they can stay healthy. Yeah, this is the. And Max, you know how that goes. Yeah. The Wizards are the number one. If they can stay healthy. Look out for the Wiz team now. Like Anthony Davis, pairing him up with Trey Young. If he can stay healthy, pairing him up with Saar Bub Carrington, Trey Johnson. We've got, we've got actually a fun team next year. So this is like, this is kind of new for me to be going into an off season where I'm like, I think I'm like whiz curious. I could become. I might be the Whistler next year. Oh, and this is, this is exciting for me. I'm pumped now. Obviously, Anthony Davis, his time in, in Dallas, not great. Didn't really play that much. And if you look at how that trade went down for him and then what the Wizards gave up, which is two first round picks and three second rounders.
Chris Middleton, Malachi Branham, AJ Johnson, Marvin Bagley. The two first round picks aren't really two first round picks. We didn't give up two first round picks. We gave out one that's protected, that we're going to keep. And then there's another one that could end up being like the 30th pick. I want to say it might be the warriors pick.
What that is.
So we what, it's close to a second rounder.
I might want that.
You want it. Don't stay in your lane. That's. That's a first round pick, but it dips to 31. I'm.
I want that.
They're the most fake first round picks that we gave up for Anthony Davis. So I, I think that this is a great trade for the Wizards. I do. I think this was an absolute fleecing of the Dallas Mavericks.
They could, they could maybe win some games.
Max. You don't think so?
Anthony Davis is going to be 33 next year.
But if he stays healthy.
But he gets hurt every day.
What if he stays healthy?
Think about him staying healthy.
Yeah. You didn't think about that.
Imagine five years ago, Trey Young and Anthony Davis, like, would have lost their mind.
Oh, my God.
I mean, Anthony Davis is still a great defender. We've got a great defensive front court. We really do.
You're only right now 10 games out of the 10 seed.
Yeah, well, I don't think. My guess is Anthony Davis probably not going to play that much this year. Yeah, Trey Young probably not going to play that much this year. And then we'll get a great draft pick. Hopefully get a good player. It's a good draft. Loaded draft coming up.
That's why I'm hoping for the Bulls finally will maybe get a little bit better odds.
You want to buy stock in a team? I'm buying stock in the Wizards right now. I'm ready to say it. I. I am. I think I am now a Wizards fan.
There you go.
I. I'm thinking the office for sure. Next year. Yoffs you can be off.
Yoffs for sure.
I mean 100 guaranteed. Like we're gonna be better than 5%.
Of the league makes the offs.
Oh, we're counting. We're counting playing.
Would you have to count the playing?
Dude, you gotta make. You gotta make it to the first round.
Let me ask you a question. What do they. What do they do first? They do the office of the plan. You gotta. You. You can't get to the office unless you get in the plan.
That's not incorrect.
Y. That's as far as I'm concerned. The only way to get in the B offs is to win the play in.
You have to. You have to.
That's what I've learned.
Get so good that you are above the plan. First you have to defeat the play in, then you get in the offs.
It's a tricky spot.
Correct.
So you just agreed that I'm going.
To leapfrog the playing. But the playing does that counts as.
Don't sleep on the plan.
It counts as the offs. I'm saying it does. Max is just go down to Miami.
Get killed by 30, maybe beat the Hawks the first time.
Max is just jealous. He thinks he. He sees now the Wizards is possibly a threat if they stay healthy.
Troy Young is a playing guy.
He's a playing hero.
Yeah.
Hank, do you see the Wizards as.
A threat if they stay healthy? They're fucking stacked.
Yeah. Lockstep they say.
Hank, listen, what PFT is doing, you should. You're allowed to do. It's no different than me saying what if the 14 second round picks by the Bulls are all Nikola Jokic?
Yeah, it's fun.
Right.
But there is a chance that AD stays healthy, right?
Yeah.
If you. You're gonna.
And there's a chance that all 14 picks become Nicole Yokich.
Right.
He.
Correct. 80s never played. He's never played on a team that's in the Eastern Time zone before maybe it's just like his biological clock is suited up to be an east coast guy.
Yeah, that's right. The Pelicans are Central time.
Yeah. So, I mean, Max, you have to admit the bubble that, like, if. If healthy.
And that was Anyone?
Anyone?
Yeah.
Anyone. Yeah. Great call, Chip.
So.
Yeah, he could be.
That was a good point. I didn't think about the East.
East coast guy. East coast guy. Max, you should be nervous. Do you have any tips on how I can deal with a. A big man who is almost certain to be injured over the course of a season?
They're still good. Who and being. And beat an ad. They're both good.
Yeah. Do you have any tips?
You just gotta load. Management is key.
Okay.
You just gotta, like.
You just gotta, like.
There's no back to backs.
You gotta.
Don't happen.
Okay.
And then, like, once you get to the fourth quarter and you're up by like 15, it's like. All right, make sure. Let's get him on the bench.
Okay.
I think get him on the bench.
It's also key to have a guy on our team that is maybe more injured than him that way. It's not like this guy's always hurt. We got another guy that's hurt her also.
Maybe practice some karate, learn how to fall.
Oh, I like.
No, no, you're supposed to fall.
Yeah. Remember, he learned how to fall.
Yeah.
He did karate.
So there's. There's gonna be a lot of times where he's. Where maybe if he falls, people are gonna be like, oh, my God, he's hurt again.
Yeah.
But, like, you will be able to correct them. Be like, no, he actually does that on purpose.
He's gonna get better at falling.
Now they were saying this Anthony Davis is I. He's way more Joel and B than Joel.
B. Yeah.
Anthony Davis gets hurt in every game he's ever played.
He gets hurt standing up a lot.
He.
He leads the league and going to the tunnel.
He leaves.
Yeah.
He leaves the game with knee injury.
Yeah. He's got a lot of.
They always come.
He always. You always think that. You just got to know they're going to come back.
He's always. He's really good at coming back into games after you think he's injured and does that. So he might be really tough.
He does that, too.
They are the same guy. We got the same guy.
Yeah.
But if he stays healthy, look out for the whiz.
Yeah. What do you think about Jared McCain?
That was tough. I mean, weird guy.
So weird.
I Love to the Thunder. The Thunder. Which makes it so much worse because the Thunder just makes everyone good. It's a. It's a. It's a good organization. And you always think that press's fleecing you, so it's hard to. It. It's like the. It's like h. I'm on the opposite side of Howe in this trade. When you make a trade with Presty, it's like I. That guy knows more than my guy.
You got howed.
And now Jerry McCain, he's had a really. He's had a really bad year.
He's.
He's actually gone up and down from the G League. V. V.J. edgecomb basically took his spot in like the future of. Of the backcourt. So there wasn't really like a long term play for him. I would have liked him as a six man. Like he is still a good shooter and he was. And he was starting to play a lot better in the past couple of weeks and we didn't get anything. We got. We got the Rockets first round pick which is going to be like the 25th pick which is basically nothing. And we got three second rounds.
It's kind of crazy because Jericho McCain, like if you go back to December of last year, that was.
He was rookie of the year.
Yeah.
Yeah.
He was like future faces Lee.
It was by far. He was for sure the rookie of the year. I will be getting to the future face of this league at some point.
Oh, please.
Yep.
Do you have it?
No, no, no.
It's coming though. That's a little teaser. For what some point. At some point in this show I will be bringing up.
So the future. We're talking about basketball right now.
Yep.
And then this is the last show before the super bowl. So we're probably going to be heavy on NBA later on in the show too.
Yep.
Wait.
We're.
Okay.
Future faces league is gonna be.
I. I will be bringing up.
Oh, okay. Okay.
All right.
All right.
I like that tease. Yeah, that's actually a great tease now, Max.
Great.
How you gonna land this place more after this?
Yeah, we've never done that. That's. Yeah, I like that.
Yeah.
It's coming the other trade. So get ready everyone.
What else is coming?
So excited.
All that and more.
It's gonna hit when we come back. It's gonna be like when Diplo has the beat drop. We're all gonna be going like we need a cannon to go off when he hits the future F. Future face. Don't do it. All right now. Don't Say the whole thing. Is he a problem?
Huh?
Don't give it away.
I asked you too many hard questions.
Let us edge us.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Hank, we already talked about Vuch. You're happy about that?
Yeah.
The Cavs traded for James Harden. That happened. We talked about James Harden on Wednesday show. But then it happened right after. We all saw this coming. Surely this will work out this time.
Is this. How many teams is that for James Harden?
It's five and six years.
Five teams in six years. Good for him, man. He's gonna like Cleveland. That seems like a James Harden town.
Like I said, I do think he will have a. A good playoff game.
Yeah.
Maybe game one or two.
Game two. Game two. Harden for sure.
He actually should. He would be a really good playing guy because all you got to do is play one game.
That's true.
It's a one game series.
But then if he gets a one game series, is. Is that going to be his game seven?
Yeah, true.
Yeah, it kind of is.
Yeah.
Any other big trades? We should talk about the Kristaps one to the Warriors.
Interesting.
So Draymond did not get traded. Great interview with Draymond. We appreciate him coming on. Any other ones? I mean, I feel like the warriors were trying to trade Kaminga for the minute they drafted him.
Yeah.
So that, that's done. I don't know if Chris Paul's on the Raptors. Is he going to. He's not even going to.
I don't think he's going to leave the game.
That's like the, the. I think my breakdown on Wednesday's show for Mike Conley. The Bulls was on pump that he's going to come to the office. He was on the Bulls for four hours.
Yeah, there's. There's so many.
I wonder if he went. Maybe he might have gone to the office. We're not there.
There's so many guys in the NBA that get traded and they become the meme from succession where it's just like, no, I don't think I will.
Yeah.
Like Chris Paul's not going to play on the Raptor. Although I did the. The news broke about Chris Paul. We're down the hallway here from Ryan Rosillo. So I went to break the news to Ryan. I knocked on the door and say, Chris Paul just got traded to the Raptors. And he processed it for a second and he had a great response, which was, I mean, with our two countries right now at each other's throats, what better way than to heal ourselves and make peace Than sending Chris Paul as an ambassador. Yeah. So this could be bigger than the game.
That's true.
This could be. This could be about friendship between two great countries.
That's a good point. And I. We should say that the Pacers actually made a pretty good trade. Meme says the Pacers are going to.
Be a problem next year. Yeah, yeah, next year. Big problem.
So they got Zubak and what'd they give up? Matheran and some picks.
Matheran, first round pick next year. But one through four protected. 10 through 30 protected.
I think that's this year.
Yeah, it's this year.
Yeah, yeah, this year. That's some good protections.
Yeah. But they're most likely gonna have a top three pick.
Yeah.
So that was very smart of them. Yeah, they're gonna be a problem. I'm trying to think if there's any other NBA trades. Oh, let me give you a little who. Let's do a blind resume. You can just say who this person is. Leads the team. He just got traded. Leads the team in and ones this season with 14.
So it's one. A one person blind resume.
It's one person blind resume.
Okay. Some guy leads the team with end ones with 14.
Yeah.
Kevin Herder.
No.
Anthony Davis.
No. The answer is Colin Sexton, who got traded the Bulls because I asked Mikey Betts, our good friend who's a big time, die hard Bulls, thinks every move is good. He's pumped about Colin Sexton because he led the Hornets in and ones this year with 14, which is about one every three games. That was a real thing. He said that's a great stat. That's advanced stats that you can't get anywhere else.
That's like when the Nats did that trade with. With the Padres and I found one guy that we got and I was like, this guy has the best eyes in minor league baseball. In Double A. He had the lowest chase rate of anybody. I was like, that's good. That's huge.
You build on it.
Never heard from that guy again.
Yeah, just run the N1 play or hit threes. Yeah, you could do that. So before we talk about the big game, the other news, Jeff Stoutland. And that was.
Is bad.
So the offensive line coach for the Philadelphia Eagles, who's been there for what, 13 years, who, when we talk to Lane Johnson, we talked Jason Kelsey, everyone has basically said he is the secret.
Sauce, heart and soul.
He is the underrated piece of this team. He's the reason why we've been able to run the ball so well and won two Super Bowls. He is not retiring, but he's retiring from the Philadelphia Eagles. Thoughts?
Max, Are you cry?
I'm just thinking.
It's okay. It's okay to cry.
Stoutland is like the best Eagles coach I think in my lifetime. Possibly. Like we have had such consistent success at the offensive line position for so long without even it being drafting like top of the end guys like Lane. Lane was a top. Was a early pick but like my lotta was not. Jason Kelsey was not like, I mean Landon Dickerson was a second round pick. Like we have built through the trenches on the offensive line for so long and it's been the identity of this team and everyone says that Stoutland is the reason for that. So it's a tough pill to swallow. But it just must mean that Sean, like Sean Manion is apparently running. He wants to run a complete different offense than.
I feel like they could still use.
I don't know if that's what. Yeah, but did you read about how he basically was frozen out by Nick Sirianni this year?
Oh, well, that.
Yeah, that in that Nick Sirianni and Kevin Petullo minimized him to a point. That he was disrespected and that was the impetus for him leaving.
I read that that were. That we're running a new style.
Yeah, the McVeigh. The McVeigh entry running which he does.
Which he. But did not run that style.
But the report was that.
I know, I saw, I saw the.
So do you have comment on that? Yeah.
Petulo is a terrorist but Sirianni is.
Still the head coach.
No, Petula's a terrorist.
Not around it. He can't hurt you anymore.
That makes no sense.
Seriously. Patul is still around.
Oh, he's still in the building. Yeah.
I don't know what his role is though. There. There are no more roles.
Yeah. What do you get hired like quality control?
Line coach. Yeah, you need an offensive line coach.
Kevin Patullo. Yeah, Major. He understands the system. Listen, if your system cannot accommodate Jeff Stoutland as your offensive line coach, it might not be a great system.
This feels bad.
That's not true. That's not true.
But it feels. I. So the initial thing was like, oh, he's retiring. Then you saw the Sean Manion piece that he's going to run, you know, different offensive running scheme. But then seeing that it was. They not ran him out but made it so that he didn't want to be there anymore. That's the bad part because that's a guy you don't. You want to you gotta just be like, hey, whatever you need, we want to keep you.
I agree. I wish he was still there.
I don't know what is Stoutland the kind of guy that would be like, I will not adjust the way that I, I work with teams. If we're going to be doing like a more of his own running scheme than I'm used to.
Like, I feel like something that he doesn't experience.
Yeah, but he's such a good coach. Actually, I saw this is a great tweet from front of the program. Emmanuel Acho. He gave just Jeff Stoutland credit for developing all those guys you mentioned. Max. As well as developing Al Villanueva at offensive line for the Philadelphia Eagles. Alvillanueva was a Pittsburgh Steeler offensive lineman. He played, I believe, on the defensive line for the Philadelphia Eagles. I thought that was an interesting take. So.
No.
Maybe he ran out of town. I don't know.
If it makes you feel any better, I saw Jordan my a lot of last night. He's big still.
Did he say anything about.
I didn't ask him, but he is still a big man.
I'm gonna guess that he's not happy.
Do you not. That's good. Like he didn't. He didn't. He didn't. Overnight, like Jeff Stoutland gets fired. There's got to be concern that I run into Jordan Mylata and all of a sudden he's a 5 6, 125 pound man.
Jordan Mylata is massive human.
So that's what I'm saying. He's still massive.
Even post outland.
Yeah, yeah, even post outland. He has not lost any weight post Outland. It was only two hours actually. He. He might have gained weight because it was at dinner. He gained weight post outlet.
He's in the biggest shape as first.
Reported by this podcast.
We're gonna be fine. What about Big Dom, offensive line coach?
Big Dom's looking for Hank right now.
I got some. Yeah, Hank. Hang on one second.
You know where I'm at? I didn't hear.
Yeah, I'm gonna call. I'm gonna call Roan right now. I talked to him earlier.
I also talked to Roan and Roan said that. Yeah, hang on me trying to rile up.
Okay, wait, wait.
What do you mean? Oh, yeah, yeah, Ron's.
That was Rowan's, one of my best friends.
Oh, he is.
He's turning into an op. It at rapid and rapid speed.
He told me to call him during the show here.
He's an op.
Let's see if he's picking up, he's.
Trying to get me hit.
I would never do that.
But we also are doing that.
We should have go home.
Yeah, but you guys are confirmed ops.
Welcome to the. Welcome to the show. Welcome to our side, Ron.
Hey, Ron. What's up? It's PFT from part of my Take youe Live to tape.
Oh, what's going on, my friends?
How are you? Is he here?
Hey, we're doing good. Yeah. I was. I was wondering what happened with. With Big Dom when you ran into Big Dom the other day.
That's when he's in the hotel, actually.
Wait, Ron, are. Are you in the hotel right now? Yeah, yeah, yeah. So Roan.
Yes, Ron is here. Son of a boy. Dad. Ron.com. go tune into everything. Yeah, yeah, Rome.
We. We were just talking to Hank about, you know, Big Dom, Jeff Stoutland. Maybe Big Dom switches over coaches offensive line.
Hank.
Hank gave a very sarcastic no.
I said they should. That's a great idea.
Hank doesn't like Big Dom, so. That's not true. What's your Big Dom experience that you would like to share?
Well, that's so funny because I saw Big Dom last night with Lane Johnson, who looks like he's ready to play football.
Okay.
So he also has not because I said I saw Jordan my a lot of last night and he has not become a 5 6, 125 pound man since the Stoutland news.
Oh, he's still a fucking beast.
That's two for two.
That's good.
Two. Two offensive linemen on the Eagles have not lost any weight since.
He looked lean as fuck.
Oh, maybe he did lose weight.
I touched him up. I touched his midsection.
I was like, what are you weighing.
In at, like 280? He was like, 320.
Whoa.
I said, where's it at?
He said, it's all in my ass.
Oh, love.
Love that. All in my ass.
That's what I like to hear.
Yeah.
All in my ass. And standing next to beautiful Lane Johnson was one Big Dom to Sandro. Big Dom to Sandro. And I went up to Big Dom and I said, maybe a bit of a leading statement to Dom. But I said, hank's a real piece of. And I think he said, I'm gonna beat his ass.
Get him.
But his response back was that he's gonna beat it. And I think we just kind of volleyed back and forth like, yeah, Hank's dumb and sucks.
Like, yeah, we're gonna.
So you were egging him on? Yeah, I was.
I was.
Yeah, it was leading questions.
It was fueled the fire. But I think where we decided we're.
Gonna, like, hang you up by your.
Like, underwear on the flower. I. I'm still trying to convert Hank into a Big Dom. I'm trying to mend this relationship. I want you guys to be friends.
He doesn't want to mention I want.
It to be mended.
But Hank has said. We, we were. We were joking about it the other night. That I was like, Hank is on the record saying he hates Italians. And Hank. I. That was a moment where Hank could have said, that's not true. He said, yeah, I am on the record multiple times. It's Italians.
I got no beef with Big Dom. I, I personally would not go to a Super bowl party and just. And just focus on. On me and the Patriots. That's just like.
No one's talking about the Patriots.
Yeah.
What talk about you? He wants Henry Lockwood. He doesn't want to beat my ass. I'm a Patriots fan.
Regardless.
I, I would not.
I would not be going to super bowl parties talking about, you know, other people and how they're pieces of. I, I focus on myself and, and that's me.
I did a leading question here.
Bring it up.
It wasn't top of mind.
I've heard from, like 100 people that big Dom brings me up everywhere and I never talk about it. You guys talk about them all the time. No, you guys talk about him all the time.
You engage in the conversation. Not really.
Against my will.
You're doing it right now.
Yeah, against my will. You think Big Dom's walking around town talking about you, just muttering about Hank lwood.
Have her confirmed from multiple sources.
What an egotist. Rent by him.
He said, our rushing attack is going to be fine.
He was chilling.
He said, we're going to be good. We're going to be fine.
Love it.
And Lane was good, too.
Lane was like.
Yeah, Lane was chilling.
Lane looked athletic.
They were just chilling in the Cup.
And Jordan Mylata was still big more.
He was massive. He's bigger.
He's bigger.
Leaner.
I said, he saw him eating dinner.
But he's not too big.
He's not too big.
He's not taking the news so hard that he's like stress eating.
He said bigger and leaner.
It was lean.
It was lean. Yeah.
No, no, my liner. What about Landon Dickerson?
I didn't see. I didn't have eyes on him.
Kate had eyes on him.
So small that you couldn't see him.
No, no, he was still. He still Blocked out the sun when he walked past any light. And I think that they want to beat Hank's ass, too. Where was this? It was at some bar. It was at a bar that had.
Ski all in, like, video.
Video games and stuff like that. Not too big, not gaudy.
Oh, it'd be incredible to watch all the guys on the O line for the Eagles and Big Dom kick Hank's ass at once. Yeah, like a bunch of elephants stomping out like a hyena.
It. I don't care for the Super Bowl.
Would you trade it for the Super Bowl?
Yeah, because I might beat them.
Oh, you're gonna beat all four of their asses, Ron.
Last question. Hank, right before you got in here. He has declared you're an op.
I just said I'm sad. One of my former closest. Welcome.
Welcome to our side. Because I said, but what about us? We hate you, too. He said, you guys are confirmed ops, so you're an OP with us.
Well, I asked him to name the Patriots offensive line, and all I got was I got a lot of crickets. And there's been a lot of time.
To study between Will Campbell, Morgan Moses.
Peter Eweg or whatever his name is.
Peter Yulan.
Yeah. Thomas Peters.
On when you.
That's the same joke that.
Oh, I didn't know that he was. I thought that was realignment.
That's almost. That's. That's some of them.
Yeah, I think that's. Those are starters that.
That was three and a half.
Two of those guys are four aces.
I just think I know more about.
The Patriots than you, and I'm not even a Patriots fan.
You're a smart guy. I'm not.
But, Hank, that. Listen, that's what they do. Like, we're Patriots fans. They. They're obsessed with us. They know everything about us.
That's fast.
They know all the stats about us, like, ridiculous, stupid ones, and they're like, oh, well, I know your team better than you do. Yeah. It's because you spend all day thinking about us.
That's from the New Heights party.
Did you. Did you go to that?
Max?
I did not. I did not go.
Did you?
I did not.
I don't think I was allowed.
Oh, wow. So you're. You're in OP territory.
No, they're. Those are friends of the program.
They won't let Big Cat go.
No, I could have gone in, could have got me.
Yeah, I know.
Big Cat would have.
They would have rolled out the red carpet.
You. You got invited?
Yeah.
It was a saddle.
We should have.
I should have went.
We should have.
I should have won.
Your ass broke some bread.
All right, guys.
Appreciate you.
All right. Thank you, Roan.
You're the best.
Go, go.
Listen. Go, go. Tune in. Subscribe to Ron.com Son of a boy.
Dad.
Welcome to the op family.
You know, in other Eagles news, before we get to the two teams that actually matter, we did run into a Philadelphia Eagle at our hotel in the elevator yesterday. Max and I were getting into the elevator, and Big Don. Doors closed. No, McNabb, it's Big Dog was in the elevator. Big Don.
Yeah.
And I should have said, Max turtled.
I didn't say anything.
He got on the elevator, and Max. Max. I looked at each other and I gave him the big eyes, like.
Well, he's also former Redskin. You also turtled.
He is a former. He's a Redskin legend.
Also recurring guest and recurring guest.
And Max just looked down at his shoes, and he scratches his balls when he's nervous and started scratching his nuts. Didn't say anything to him. And then. Yeah, it was. It was just sad to see a turtle like that. That's your hero growing up.
I know. McNabb is an eagle legend.
Super guy.
Say anything to him.
I. I don't. No one wants me.
He probably would have liked to hear that.
Yeah, no one wants to hear.
I told Max. I was like, dude, you were like a little turtle. And he goes, I am a little turtle.

Boys, Super Bowl 60. Are we ready?
Yeah.
Can't come soon enough.
Yeah. You want us out?
Not even that. I just want the gate. I want to get into the stadium.
Yeah.
So you're not, you're. You're not even excited for the weekend?
No, it's just if I could fast forward it, I would. I can't. So I will, you know, be attending some parties and stuff because I have no choice, but I'd rather just fast forward.
You don't want to party?
No choice.
You don't want to party at all.
Yeah.
It's business trip.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I know that you are upset that like you wouldn't want to fast forward through the dozen trivia tournament tonight that you have to be in. You're excited about that.
Cherish those moments.
Yeah.
Because you don't know when.
That's my fire fest. I mean, I guess I'll do it. I scored zero points in a dozen. Spoiler.
Cherish. Cherish those moments, Hank, because you don't know when you'll be back in it.
Which.
Probably next year, Right?
No, it's an honor.
Yeah.
It's an honor and a privilege and I'm excited.
Okay. So the. The Sea.
I wish we were on the same team.
Same.
Yeah.
The Seahawks are currently minus four and a half over. Under is 45 and a half.
Couple.
Couple injury things. So even worrow worry tweaked his ankle in practice on Wednesday. Was seen limping after. That feels concerning. It does. Also, it's the super bowl, so they're going to make sure he's ready to go.
But still, it's a low ankle sprain from what I heard.
Very, very important. I saw some. I saw people saying it's bad. I saw a Twitter doctor, which Hank still hasn't been a Twitter doctor, but we will get to that part. You might need to be say that because he's not in a boot. That's actually a good sign.
Yeah.
Because you know, the limp is, you know It's. He's going to be a little hampered, but they'll shoot him up and they'll be.
He'll be ready to go.
Like, as a 41 year old, I tweak my ankle just about every day.
Yeah.
You know, you take one step, it rolls a little bit, and then you're like, fuck, I'm out of commission for a while. I think he'll be okay. If it's a low ankle sprain, you're probably going to limp a little bit. Probably a little bit swollen. He's going to get it shot up with the best drugs, the best drugs ever. Super bowl drugs. So I think he'll be okay. Like, there's. That's a whole new level of Toradol that he's going to get jacked up into his ankle. So I think he'll be okay. Still great player. Not what you want to hear if you're the Seahawks, but. Yeah, that. That whole defense is good. So I, I think that with like an 85. Iman worry. I still like that defense. Yeah. A tough defense.
What. Is there any other injury news? Robert Splaine said that he's 100.
No.
Confident.
No, he's. So Robert Spillane is now sick.
Oh, but he said the ankle. He's 100. Confident.
Yeah, the ankle's fine. But he got. He developed an illness like a bat. He's very, very sick right now. Oh, yeah. I don't know if it's Zach. Well, no, he said personally, it makes me sick that Tom Brady said he doesn't have a dog in the fight for this game.
Yeah, he's.
Robert Spillane is pissed off at Tom Brady for this.
That story has gotten some new legs because everyone sounded off.
Hank, I was told it was fake news when I brought it up.
By who?
You brushed it off.
I did not say it was fake.
It was a brush off. Okay. We got. We gotta stay on the same team. Hank.
It is.
I mean, he does have a dog in the fight. I, I do. I do believe, like, he. He does have a dog in the fight. It's the Patriots. I think he's gonna say the Raiders thing. Yeah. Like, he's gonna. He can. He can kind of use his, His Raiders situation to say that's why he said it, but he should just, you know, man up.
I think he just.
He's a people pleaser. He doesn't want to be hated, so he doesn't want to, you know, but that's.
He loved being.
He's being hated now.
But I know I know. I think he made a mistake. I hope he changes course and. And just comes out and it's like, I do have a dog that fights the Patriots.
I. I was thinking about it more. There's also a world that Tom Brady's such a competitive psycho. He just doesn't want anyone to ever win another super bowl again.
Gronk says that he's. That he doesn't have a dog in the fight because he wishes he was playing.
And.
And that's why he's like, I don't want anybody to win.
Right, Exactly. Like, he just.
I win super.
He wants to win all the Super Bowls that have ever existed. So he's like, I don't. I'm not in it, so.
But yeah, a lot of. I mean, like, Teddy Brusky and. And there's some guys that were doing interviews on Radio row that former players that were, like, also upset. And I think that that's been part of it.
Speaking of which, I think we have about five hours to go, but are you worried at all about Asante Samuel.
Coming for him?
Asante Samuel on Wednesday night?
I had to check, like, five times. This was his real time.
We're five hours away. So Pacific Time, 6:48pm Wednesday night, said Tom Brady, you have 23 hours to respond or it's up. I'm going apeshit about who you are. Five hours.
Yeah, I am a little bit worried about that. I mean, this is. These are distractions that we don't need, but at least it's former players and not current ones.
And then he did an update. Does anyone believe Brady has texted Mike vrabel by now? 8 hours and 30 minutes to go.
So he's actively keeping count. It's not like he tweeted out last night and then forgot about it. Sometimes you just say stuff and get fake deadlines. He's following up on this. What do you think? What do you think that means? Going ape?
I don't know. Probably just tweets.
Dirty laundry gas. Yeah, I mean, that's not what you want this week. Vince Wilfork said it was bull crap. Multiple times. Called it bull crap.
But again, it's not like it's a. It's a distraction for former players. It's not like the team. It's not going to distract our team. They don't. They don't even know Tom Brady.
What do you think? Situate. Mike. Mike McDonald thinks about this. Like, is he. Like, that is bull crap. Tom Brady should be rooting for the.
I don't know. Situate. Mike moved when he was a little boy, so I don't know how much he identifies with situate or like the Patriots.
The only thing that you could say in defense of Tom Brady is that he is going to do a press conference with Clint Kubiak probably on Tuesday. And if Clint Kubiak has a really bad game, doesn't. Doesn't change the hire, but that's still, like, all you have to do is say. That's all he has to say. He has to say, like, he says.
I have a dog in the fight. It's the Raiders.
Yeah, that actually would have been a fine answer. I own the Raiders. It was funny because at dinner, Dave was. It was me and Eddie and Dave, and he's like. Like, this would be like Michael Jordan not rooting for the Bulls. I was like, do you know that Michael Jordan has not been back to the United center in 15 years? Like, won't come near the Bulls. He's like, oh, bad example.
Yeah, it's okay. We got to focus on the players on the field. Yeah, I did think about it. I thought about it more after we did the show last week or last Tuesday. And it'd be up of me to not root for the Patriots. Like, it's. Do I want my friend hank to get $80,000? That's probably, like, a bad thing to root against. So I. I know that it would go to a good place. That'd be me. I'd be rooting against you getting, like two new country club memberships, and I can't do that. I want you to be happy. So I'm rooting for you. I want you to win. We are on the same. Same page, same team, same city.
I just like, you've. You've flip flopped so much.
No, now I'm back.
I'm back, I'm back. It's like, I just want my friend to get 80 grand.
My wife did text me this morning, said, how is Hank not punch pft yet.
Yeah, I do. Do I? Hank likes his polo.
I do.
Like, do you want it? I'll get shirt off my back.
I mean, wow.
I'll save it for my wonderful. Wonder what's under this eight years old. Oh, it's the number seven. It's the number seven. That's a weird seven. Where did you get that?
In the barstool sports store. When the Patriots win, okay, It'll be for sale. I'm team player. Push and march. You got my shirt. Let's go, Hank. 80 grand.
Hank, do you want to Give this to your son.
What?
That's a funny joke.
Oh, it's a funny joke.
It's a perfectly medium size. Yeah, it is the. You're welcome.
Are you nervous Pft. About your back? Because you got a big bet.
A big bet. Big bet. This is the most nervous ever been going to a super. And the Tom Brady stuff is concerning to me. Like, it is a distraction that the players are talking about it, and I am worried about situate Mike. That'd be a tough way to lose.
It is.
No, no. The more the week. The more the week goes on, the more confident I do get in the Patriots because this does feel like it's all. This is the Mike Vrabel game. If he had to draw it up in a lab, him being a four and a half point underdog going to this game. He wins these games all the time.
Can I just say, from. From this side of the room, this is. This rivalry has made me laugh so hard.
No rivalry.
I also just realized you were wearing a sweatshirt underneath a polo and nobody thought anything of it.
Yeah. Perfectly normal way.
Anybody else, we would be like, why are you wearing a crew nut. Crew neck underneath your polo?
This is how guys dress sometimes. I do like this shirt, though. 7.
Oh, you've just been on his ass. And then, hey, so much fun to watch.
If we lose this one, then you can actually have this shirt for next year when they go back. Maybe they'll get their seventh super bowl loss next year. So it's really multipurpose.
We're focused on.
Correct. We are.
Yeah.
Every time you just say the word we, he just sighs in frustration.
I love.
Let's talk about the actual game.
Yeah.
So I. I think there's. And this might sound dumb. I think there's a 40% chance the Patriots win close. I think there's a 40% chance the Seahawks win close. I think there's A 20% chance Seahawks.
Could blow them up.
That's where I land.
I don't see a Patriots blowout. The Patriots, they don't. They don't blow teams out. And even the Super Bowls, they're always close games.
That's. That's where I land. That's a 40 chance. I mean, that's about. That's actually probably better. Zero.
So there's zero percent chance Patriots pulling out.
I don't. I do not think that that would happen. I mean, I could look stupid.
I get.
Don't take a. Don't take it.
I'm not.
That was a genuine, genuine question.
Of course, you know what? 1% chance.
Okay?
Because that way I won't look so stupid if it happens. 1% chance.
The. The.
The Patriots blow out the Seahawks.
And when the Seahawks lose, even when they play bad games, when Sam Darnold throws four.
One.
Yeah, it's.
It's very, very close.
So two turnovers or more. Five and one this year.
Two. Two very well coached teams that, that don't make stupid mistakes. So I, I expect it to be a really good game.
I'm excited about it. So my keys to the game are can the Patriots run the ball? Because the Seahawks defense is very, very good and I think that will be key to. They're going to want to run the game, run the ball, maybe shorten the game a little. And then can the Seahawks interior offensive line stand up against Milton Williams and the Patriots defensive line? Because that's where they're going to get. Be able to get pressure. That's where Sam Darnold, if you get pressure up the middle with him, is a problem. Those are my two keys to the game. Are they. Could they both be irrelevant? Of course, because I don't know. But that's my two keys to the game.
What are your keys to the game?
My keys to the game are force to turn over early, get pressure early, come out, you know, guns blazing defensively. I think if we can get a turnover early, potentially, you know, pick six or something like that would be good. That will put a lot of. Of pressure on Sam Darnold and it's going to be hard for him to overcome that throughout the game. We don't. I think it's going to be like whoever, whoever slips up first, like the first mistake is going to be.
That's game.
Very not. It's not game, but it's going to be crucial. It's going to be. It might be game.
I think, I think the situational quarterbacks in their first.
In their first game, in their first super bowl, it's like they're gonna, they. They make a turnover early. Like, that's gonna stay with them. So then other quarterbacks.
McDaniels is going to have something ready. He's going to have some new trick that he hasn't done before. Oh, yeah, he's going to have a gadget play that we haven't seen and they're. It's about when they break it out and if they're able to execute on that, that could be huge, obviously for the Patriots. But like, you know that McDaniels is going into this game and he's got, like, at least two things ready that he's put in this week that. That is not on tape that he's ever done before. And he's a great offensive coordinator, terrible head coach, great offensive coordinator, and he'll have something good drawn up.
The two minor storylines I'm looking forward to are, like, pregame, will Cooper cup. Find his faux restaurant because he eats foe every Saturday with the. With the quarterbacks before the game. So he's got to find a Vietnamese place, eat his foe, and then will Stefan Diggs take his poop? Do you see that story? Oh, that was today or Friday? Friday, yeah, the Friday. All right. Yeah. So, yeah, little buddy's got a poop.
Yeah, yeah, we talked about that on. On the show. And then Hank used it against me to be like, he's basically you.
Yeah.
Poop guy, too.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So those are the two, though he will. The two big ones.
He will be able to poop. I. I can promise you that. Yeah, I think. I think also Kenneth Walker. I think Kenneth Walker is probably. He's the most important guy outside of JSN for this offense. Like, if it's a good Kenneth Walker game, that will do very good things for their passing, I think. I feel like the Seahawks almost have to run the ball before they throw it in this game, which kind of goes backwards against what they've done because they are like, one of maybe the two best offensive downfield passing teams in the Super Bowl. But I think each one of them is going to try to establish the run before they take those shots.
Hank, are you bank. I saw some people quoting the Sam Darnold versus pitchers. Has he never beaten the Patriots? He's beaten him once.
Don't think he has. Maybe once. It's either 1 in 4 or 0 and 5.
Are you thinking that. That Sam Darnold's gonna show up or the Sam Darnold who had played perfect football in the NFC Championship game?
I'm thinking that same Darnold. I'm looking for that same D. That's.
Who you're looking for.
Yeah.
Gets off the bus like a Where's Waldo. You're gonna try to find that one?
Yeah.
Okay, that's.
Yeah.
Yeah.
In my mind, that's the same Donald that's showing up to this game.
So it will be kind of. It'll be a little jarring to the system if NFC Championship game. Sam Donald shows up very. Because Sam Donald. That's not funny.
Game plan.
It's funny that we keep the narrative continues even though like last year, it was. Is he going to turn into a pumpkin? Week 18 happened. Playoff game happened. That happened. He turned into a pumpkin. He did play almost a perfect game against the Rams in the NFC Championship game. Does that, like, does that not count for, hey, can Sam draw win a big one?
Yeah, well, I think we're not on pumpkin watch anymore. If he has a bad game in the Super Bowl, I don't think he's a pumpkin. I think it's just.
You don't think championship game's a big one?
It's a big one. It's not the big one.
Yeah, but.
Okay, but if he had lost that. But it would say if he throws.
Up a stinker, he's a pumpkin.
Right.
But if he has an okay game and they lose, maybe not. He can prove he can win big games, but if he has a terrible game.
I should have said the big one, because it was for the longest time. Can he win a big game?
Yeah.
And he's proven he can win a big game because he did.
But I. Yeah, I mean, it. It really depends how he, how he performs. But if he has a horrible game, like, I don't think. I think it's back to Sam Darnold. The narratives are the same.
Back to Sam Darnold. What do you think about Trayvon Henderson? Because that's. We're going to get to the props.
I don't know. I've seen some film where it's like he's. He's missing his, his cuts and his runs, and he's not following his blockers. Hopefully, you know, he can. He's explosive, and if he gets to the outside, like, he can make a big play. I don't know. I feel like the Seahawks defense is. Is good. And I don't know.
He's a.
He's a coin flip.
I think.
I think a guy like that, you.
Hope he can have one big play.
If, if he was. He was very impactful in the regular season, hasn't done much in the playoffs. It's got to be about, like, blocking. It's got to be about pass protection.
Well, that's going to be. The interesting thing is because the. Trayvon Henderson is not a very good blocker. Will they be blitzing when he's not on the field knowing that, hey, they're probably going to, you know, be passing. And then same Kenneth Walker also comes off the field and Holani comes on to block.
Yeah.
So that changes a little with the Charbonnet injury.
What about a little game within the game? Marcus Lawrence. Will Campbell be watching that one? Are you confident? Will Campbell, he said Will Campbell is the. The perfect epitome of a guy that, like, says and does all the things, like when he's talking to the media that you want your lineman to say he acts like a great offensive lineman, but he's had some bad games.
He was hurt, and he was. He was coming off an injury. So I'm hoping that that was just kind of rust and that he's taken the, you know, extra time and he's going to be back to where he was earlier in the season. But, yeah, I will be watching. I'm. I'm a little worried, like, he. If he plays like he did in the two playoff games, like, that could be a problem.
Yeah.
Do you guys want to call a few stats that mean absolutely nothing?
I hate those.
The team wearing. Team wearing their white Jerseys has won 16 of the last 21 Super Bowls.
That was a facility stat. I saw that.
Yep. Patriots are in white. The most common final margin the super bowl history is three points, which has happened nine times. The next closest is four points, six times spread. Probably going to come into play. I'm trying to look for some more stupid stats.
Patriots have never won a Super bowl in the Pacific time zone.
Oh.
But this is their first time playing a Super bowl in Pacific time zone. They've won every other time zone.
So they've never lost.
Arizona.
They've won. Was that Pacific Seattle Mountain.
Oh, yeah, that was.
That was the Seattle Mountain Central Eastern.
Remember we had this conversation about Cardinals.
Is Arizona always.
Yeah, we talked about this with the Cardinals like a month ago.
Yeah, it's. Right now. It's.
No, because they don't do daylight savings.
Yeah.
Sometimes it's one.
So right now.
Right now I think it's mountain.
Right now it's mountain. Yeah.
It's a different time zone.
Yeah. So at the super bowl, it's mountain time.
It's mountain.
So, yeah.
Okay.
But that means. It also means they've never lost a Super bowl in Pacific time zone either.
Yeah.
Seahawks have also not never lost or won the super bowl in Pacific time.
We should even be talking about this.
No, these are stats. Don't matter.
The Patriots winning of super bowl in all four time zones is pretty. Pretty.
Oh, is that more significant than winning the seventh?
Yeah.
No, not more significant, but it's significant.
That is pretty cool.
Yeah.
It's just like one more thing that we can say.
And the Seahawks are going for the sandwich. The two slices of sandwich. Eastern time zone and Pacific Time zone.
Yep.
Where have they lost their Super Bowl?
Central or.
No, Eastern. Detroit.
One and one in Eastern.
No, they lost one.
Oh, lost one.
Okay, so they're lost on Mountain.
No, they won one in Eastern, lost one on Eastern, lost in Mountain.
They've not played one in Central.
Yeah.
Okay, this is again, stats that don't matter.
It's big time.
This is really good stuff.
I was just wondering if we could get a loss in all four time zones. But we can't.
We can't memes as. As the. The voice of all Jets. We could do.
Could you get a loss in all four time zones?
That's what. That's what I was asking.
Yeah. No, no, because Arizona.
Minnesota.
Yeah.
Wait, is Minnesota Central?
Yeah.
Arizona's Mountain and.
Yeah, so yeah, this could be if.
And so Indianapolis is Eastern.
Yeah.
Wow. Oh.
So either way, you will either win in all. All four time zones or losing all four.
Wow. All right, I'm rebranding. This is now stats that matter. Matter a lot. You're going for time zone. All time time zone. Winner or loser.
Yeah.
Just when you thought this game couldn't mean anymore.
This is literally the time zone.
This is. You talk about like win or go home. It's like, this is big stuff. That's a step. Yeah.
Because you can't. You're out of time zones.
Oh, no. True international.
You. God damn.
That's.
That. That's.
That's a low blow to say that because we know it's going to happen. Happen.
Memes as a voice for jets fans. Have you reached a final decision on. On what? You'd rather see Sam Darnold hoisting the Lombardi trophy or the Patriots winning another one?
It's Sam Darnold.
It's got to be.
I'll be so happy for Sam Darnold if he won.
He had so many opportunities to slam the jets when he left and just never did.
Oh, good guy. Yeah, really good guy.
Means we're team Darnold. We're team Seahawks.
Oh, yeah.
I'm fired. I'm fired up for Sam Darnold.
And this is also one of those NFL scripted moments. Not like Patriots haven't won since that ghost graphic or monographic.
And Sam Darnold's life is ruined from that.
And now he has the opportunity to win a Super bowl before the Patriots got back.
You're also wearing Seahawks hat. Kinda.
No, this Canucks.
It's.
It's positive vibes only, but it's kind of Seahawks colors.
That's probably a coincidence.
It has A green in it and a blue.
I don't think memes would do that just to mess with Hank.
He's wearing positive vibes only gonna be that hat will be in the store soon for March Madness.
This would also be back to back years where players from the 2019 Jesse.
And won the Super Bowl. Who won last year?
Makai Becton.
Yep.
Brayden Mann.
So you guys are basically building super bowl champions.
Yep. Leonard Williams and Sam Darnold.
Yeah. You're building super champions.
What can you talk us through what the game day. What? Are you going to be getting drunk? Are you going to be.
Yeah. Oh, yeah.
Okay. I didn't know if you were like trying to, you know, be able to remember everything.
Aren't you going to the stadium at.
Like 9am yeah, there's like Dave bought a million tickets for Patriots fans at barstool. I think there's like 17 to 20 people and there's a bus picking us up from our hotel and going towards stadium at like 10am Very cool. So yeah, I mean I'm not gonna get like blackout drunk. I'm not gonna get like wasted. But like I will have a few beers. I mean. Yeah, that's.
Any champagne?
No champagne.
No.
Pft. Already tried that.
Oh, what are you talking about?
You try to stick some champagne Hanks.
Listen, this is not Hank's first rodeo, okay? He knows how he's playing defense. The antennas up. I gotta. I gotta be better.
I feel like you're gonna be so sad to see us go.
Yeah, I really am.
Yeah.
I might just come. I might just come up here.
Should we stay?
Probably. You should probably drive Pft to the airport just to make sure he gets on his.
Should we stay? I can stay. I got a hotel room right by the stadium.
Yeah, you should.
What if I just stayed there and then I could greet you after the game?
That'd be awesome. We can go to the party.
Are there any other big Boston celebs coming into town? Are we getting the Matt Damon's of the world? The Ben Afflecks and Mark Wahlbergs?
You gotta think.
You think the Friday is the losers get out and. And the, you know, the fans come in, so.
Yeah, well, I'm not that. I'm not going till Saturday.
So.
That was me.
Call me and Max and memes with losers. What do you mean Friday?
Oh, no, I'm just saying in general.
Current super bowl champ.
True.
Yeah. You got. You got to squeeze a few of those. Few more of those out.
Yeah.
Remind yourself.
Okay, so let's do our prop picks.
I love my props.
I love my props.

So how we're going to do it is we're all going to pick five prop bets. We. I think we said it on the show, we might not have the. If you go five and. Oh, you max, you could get five, five hours eliminated from the live stream. And if I have a question. Yeah.
What if I've got some juicy ones? Yeah, they're juicy.
Yeah.
How about. How about we. We do three that are like kind of even money and then two juicy ones.
That's fine. This is also really just for Max because he's guaranteed. Hasn't.
Yeah, I will.
If I go.
This is just a way of.
I mean, you can get out of some. If I go over five, I will do five. Hours mandatory in a row. Consecutive. Okay, who wants to go? We can. We can do duplicates. Because I'm doing tails. I'm gonna put a very big bet on tails.
Okay.
That's my first problem.
Tails has been super hot. Are you concerned with that?
No, I just bet it every year.
No matter what.
It's my favorite bet. I wish that you could bet on the coin flip on every single NFL game. And I wish they would do a coin flip during NBA games and baseball games. Hockey.
Okay, I've got one. DeMarcus Lawrence over a quarter of a sack. Minus 110. So he didn't even get a half sack.
Hank, you like that one? I actually one non juicy one but I. I like it a lot. Is total sacks over four and a half. Minus 150. That's for the whole game for both sides. Maybe that's one. That's the one we throw into our parlay.
I like that a lot.
You guys wanna.
You wanna go.
You got.
Yeah. Rip off your five.
Hank you go.
All right. So I had to place all these on. On Sunday before we left because I will be going to the game. So I'm just. These are, these are the ones I have and I love them. Mac Hollins to have two plus receptions in each half. Plus 700.
Whoa.
How many is he getting again?
And that's a lot. Yeah, it is a lot. That's a juicy one. That's plus 700. That. I mean he, he, he hadn't been playing. I mean he was injured but I, I don't know. I could see it happening. I like Matt Collins. So that's, that's why I took that one. Drake made have either 50 plus rushing yards or a 50 plus yard long completion. Plus 145. Love that.
I like that one. I like that.
I love that one. I like that one. Another one I love with all my heart.
What's Drake Maze rushing prop. Because I like his over.
It's about 38. I'm seeing 38 rushing yards. Minus 111.
Okay.
Will there be a flea flicker attempted? Yes. Plus 170.
I have similar but total players have a past temp over two and a half. Plus one.
Yeah.
That one entails every single year. Remember last year Kenny Pickett? Oh yeah. Legend. Can he pick it?
And then the last. The last one I have is K Sean Booty to score a 40 plus yard receiving touchdown. That's plus 1200.
Whoa.
Wow.
Okay.
So that could cash the Drake may potentially and twofer.
Wow.
To twofer.
Wow.
That's what I got.
Okay. As a Patriots.
All right.
I'm gonna start with Seahawks ones but.
Less fun and then get progressively more fun.
I like that throughout the way.
I'm gonna start with Drake May 31 passing attempts. I just feel like Super Bowl I. I think it's going to be a close game. It's going to be back and forth. I'm taking 31 plus passing attempts next. That's minus 109.
DraftKingsports book.
The next is over a half a yard receiving for Jake Bobo plus 150.
Love it.
Have to do it. I'll go with. Okay. Now I will do JSN similar to Hank's bet I have four plus catches for JSN in each half plus 350.
Okay.
A lot.
But Jay, I mean JSN is so good then. I don't know. We were watching that game the other day or last week and I feel like they could just throw it to him every single time if they wanted to. This one, Rashid Shahid under 19 and a half miles per hour. Fastest ball carry speed.
So you think he's gonna be slow?
Not a fun bet.
Wait, is that a punt or kick return too?
I don't that. That made.
Yes. So number one, you're rooting for fun battle Rashid Jahid to not get the ball and then when he does get the ball, you hope.
How do you even track?
So you're.
Wait, wait. So you're rooting for the fastest guy on the field to be slow?
I'm rooting for him to knock out the ball.
No idea. It's like, oh, that looks like it's 18.
I'm rooting for him to not get the ball.
How are you going to find out if he's going 18 miles an hour?
I don't know. This is also one that Ebo told me. He was like. I think, I think all of like the unders for the next gen stats should he was like that. Ebo just told me he likes the unders and the fastest speed.
Guys, all these squares out there think that the fast players are fast but the Sharps know that they're not us.
And then my most fun future face of this league.
Oh.
Scotty Barnes will have more points than Rashid Shahid has receiving yards.
Wow. That's so fun.
Okay.
That was worth it. That was so worth it. I didn't know if it was gonna be worth it, but that was awesome.
That was awesome.
Yeah, that was awesome. All right. Pfd you want to go?
I Feel like I'm just sitting in the movie theater like after like Inception.
Yeah.
I told you it was coming. Said it was coming.
Holy. What just happened?
You. You also guessed it.
And.
And I was about to say it. But I'm happy that we saved it for this.
I can't believe that that was a complete joke.
I've got a really fun one. You thought that maxes were fun? This is a really Fun 1. Over 49 and a half yards gross of the first punt in the game. A 50 yard gross punt in the first one. Basically I'm betting on the punt to take place prior to midfield.
Yep.
And if it's close to midfield, get down close to the end zone, or if it's punted from like the 20 yard line, it just goes relatively far and it's not a shank. But that's minus 110. I got.
And the return to.
Gross.
Got it.
Yeah. Gross. Gross v. Net. Ramondre MVP 28 1.
Whoa.
Whoa.
I like those odds.
Whoa.
I like the value on Ramondre mvp. Here's a fun one. Kenneth Walker and Ramandre Stevenson to have 5 yards rushing in each quarter. Plus 450.
What is it again? Say it again.
Kenneth Walker and Ramandre to both have five plus yards rushing in every quarter.
Okay.
So like they both. That's like, you know, maybe two carries per quarter.
Yeah.
For each of them. And it's +450. That's one of those ones that I saw and I'm like, that seems like it should not be plus 450. Meaning it's definitely a sucker's bet that I'm falling directly into.
Yep.
But it seems still like it. Like you look at those numbers and then this is my personal favorite. I call it no Henry. The no Henry.
Okay.
Lock of the week. Hunter Henry to not score a touchdown. Minus 340.
That's the bet. That's the bet.
No Henry.
Okay.
Mine is 340. I used to do no doinks.
I love that.
You love that one.
Yeah.
You love that bet?
You love no Henry.
No, I love that you bet that.
Why?
Because it's going to make him scoring so much better. Well, I love, I love that.
You gotta get. You gotta get on Hunter Henry. Yeah.
You gotta bet Hunter Henry.
You gotta bet Hunter Henry.
I think that minus 340 is good. I used to do no doinks and that was when it was at minus 500. Now no doinks is minus a thousand. So I don't think. I don't think I can lay that juice.
I like that. I like the. I like you putting yourself out there for one of these bets again. It's fun.
No Henry.
No Henry. Okay, I'm going to go not fun to fun. Just like Max did the first one. I like. Well, this won't count as a prop bet. I do like to. I like the Seahawks minus two and a half first half.
Sorry, did I just say one thing? Yeah, it's if you were wondering and like you probably the listeners brains have been confused and annoyed with PFT for the last month as I have and maybe you're like, oh, maybe he actually is room for the Patriots. That right there tells you everything you need to know.
Like you can know Henry.
Just all of there was like no.
One takes one of the Patriots.
You would be betting Patriot stats. Every single one of those stats was like Seahawks or Patriots? Seahawks or anti patriots.
Ramandre Stevenson, MVP 28 to 1.
Okay, that's anti Drake May.
Oh, wow.
But you think that. You think I did that to be anti Drake May? What.
What other MVP props you have?
I've got Josh Dobbs, mvp.
Okay. But yeah, that was good.
That was good for bank that. That was point Hank. That was the.
The final or finally done with this and. But that tells you me everything I need to know.
I mean another prop bet that I am taking Demario Douglas longest reception over 25 yards plus 582. I think you're seeing ghosts, Hank. You're seeing ghosts right now.
I'm listening to you.
When I put the Ramandre Stevenson MVP bet in, I was not thinking about Drake May at all. I saw 28 to 1 for the bell Cow running back for one of the teams in the Super Bowl. He's been really, really good recently. They're feeding him. If he scores a few touchdowns, if he scores two touchdowns even and has a big game. Super Super Bowl MVP 28 1. You're a plus sign, Hunter.
It's good. No, it's good. It's a good bet.
Thank you. So now admit that you were seeing ghosts on that one. No, that was not an anti Drake bet.
Sorry.
The other one was.
Sorry. Oh my. That's fine. So I. I do like Seahawks minus two and a half first half. I think the Patriots have started slow in their playoff game. Seahawks have started fast. Like if you look at it the Chargers game, it was 3:3 until the last minute they. Drake May has that big run 6 3, 77 in the Broncos game. Seahawks jumped all over the Niners. They played well against the Rams in The first half. So. Yeah. Minus two and a half first half. All right, so here are my prop bets. Tails is my first one. Always go tails. Longest field goal made over 50 and a half yards. Good conditions. I think you might get a little conservative by both coaches. Try to take the points. Both kickers have legs. Two of them actually. Over 50 and a half yards. Longest field goal I like Travion Henderson over or, sorry, Ramon dre Stevenson over 25 receiving yards. And then here are my fun ones. JSN. Those are the first three. JSN. More receptions than Ohio State made threes against Michigan earlier in the day. I looked it up. Ohio State's averaging about seven and a half threes a game.
Michigan has a really good three point defense. Yes, you could get screwed. And if Ohio State goes nuclear and hits like 12 threes, you're going to be in trouble. But you could also have a really nice Sunday where they hit four threes. They're cold. And you go into the super bowl and you have JSN to make five receptions.
Would you rather lose the first leg of that first or the second?
Second.
Like, would you rather.
I want to be. I'm hoping that Ohio State is somewhere in the 5 to 8 range.
You can't lose the first leg.
Good point, good point. Good point.
And then here's my, my funnest bet. Oh, I forgot. You know what? Take out the Ramandre Stevenson. I forgot. Total players to have past tempo over two and a half plus 160. Gotta have that one in there. By the way, that one was JSN +150. So you get some nice odds on that. Here's my favorite bet of all super bowl prop bets. Points scored. Combined points scored in the Super bowl plus US gold medals in the Winter Games. 58.
Okay.
You guys like that?
Yeah.
Medals or gold medals?
Gold medals.
What's their medal? How many?
12 and a half is the line.
Yeah, I like that.
It's just kind of fun because what if you get a shootout in the super bowl? Then you're like, oh, he's got to win two gold medals. And if you don't get. If. If the. If somehow, you know, if the game's total points are 42, you're not dead.
It's.
You just need the US to do well.
It's also. It's going to make you. Make you care about some sports that you absolutely do not give a fuck about.
Yeah.
Olympics.
Which is.
Yes. And so 58, I think is minus 115. 60 is plus money I might. I might ladder this one. Do it just for the US gold medals. I just like the idea that the bets is not. You're still alive.
Yeah.
It could be a 103 Super bowl and you're like, what if we just go nuclear at the. At the Winter Games? I don't even know if there's that many events. I don't even know how many events.
Yeah, it's. It's not the summer.
I also was looking at one where I was like, you know what? You need to chill out. You need to stop. There was one that was like UNC women's made threes and Drake May rushing.
I saw that one.
I saw that one.
I stopped myself on that one.
Yeah, yeah.
Chill out, dude. You're gone too far. Memes. Do you have yours? Yes. So those are my official five because I was kind of all over the place. Tails. Total players to have a pass attempt over two and a half. Longest field goal made over 50 and a half yards. JSN More receptions than Ohio State. Threes plus 150 combined. U.S. gold medals plus points scored over 50.
I regret that she heed one bad.
Yeah, that one I like. Dude, you're rooting for. I also am going to out of respect just because I do it every year. It's a 221 for kick return Touchdown.
Yeah.
It'd be fun. Imagine.
I also think this is not in my official five, but I'm going to bet both teams scored. Defensive touchdown, defense or special teams touchdown.
The other one I was looking at that. I'm not going to bet because I can't root for no points. But I saw points scored in the first 10 minutes. No. Plus 270. Oh, that feels like there's a feeling out process in the Super Bowls. A little bit of punt. Punt situation.
I like the first quarter under.
Yeah.
It's kind of the same vibe as that one.
Yeah. And you could just. That's. That's one. It's a fun one to watch the clock.
That's a bet for people that like to make money but not root for exciting football.
Yeah. Yeah.
I don't know which one I am.
I'm exciting football and losing money.
Yeah.
Memes. Will there be a two point conversion attempt?
Yes. Plus 155.
Like yeah.
Over fourth down conversions. Over one and a half. Plus 105 like that.
I also saw third down conversions was kind of low. I think the patriots are like four and a half and the Seahawks were five and a half. I think the total was over 11 and a half. Okay, I might take that. Will there be an octopus?
Yes. Plus 1500.
Like on the field.
Octopus is so hard.
All my props deal with two point conversions. I actually like that strategy, though, because you don't have to keep, like, looking at your phone to see, oh, how many yards this guy have. You're just basically, if there's never a two point conversion attempted, you know you lost everything. Successful two point conversion. Yes.
Plus 300.
Okay.
An offensive lineman to score a touchdown. Yes.
Plus 2200.
Whoa. Those are fun memes. Hey, it's super. Let's have some fun.
Yeah, you know, I'm pumped.
Oh, okay.
Let's.
Let's get to our interviews. We have Fred Warner and then Jake Bobo, who'll be playing in the Super Bowl. Before we do that, PFT is going to talk to you about Pepsi Zero Sugar.
We're all on a mission for self discovery right now. And before we get to Fred Warner, we're going to do a little experiment of our own. We've got Pepsi's super bowl lx. And it is bringing to light a similar phenomenon of discovery and truth with us. Hank's been on a movement of discovery as well, discovering if he is left handed or right handed. We're all waiting with baited breath. And now he's discovering the Pepsi paradox, the idea that when labels and bias disappear, cola drinkers prefer the taste of Pepsi. It's a phenomenon that blind taste tests have repeatedly proven. In the 2025 revival of the Pepsi Challenge, 66% of participants agree that Pepsi Zero Sugar tastes better than Coke Zero Sugar. Pepsi wins on taste. Sometimes you gotta flip your world upside down to discover what's been right there the entire time. You deserve taste. You deserve Pepsi Zero sugar. Let your taste decide. Go try it today, Hank. Let's see what we got here. We got cup A, Cup B. You're gonna figure out which one you like better.
All right? I'm gonna start with cup B.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
Good taste.
Now time for cup A.
Now it's time for cup A. You got it. Oh, yeah. Cup A, Cup A.
Deal.
Hopefully. I don't know.
Yeah, so they know.
Yeah, there you go. So, yeah, so Max got it wrong. Hank got it right. Memes got it right, too.
Do I got to go on the wall?
Yeah.
Yeah, Hank. Put your face on that wall. Defend the wall, Hank. You know how we do it.
Good job, Hank.
All right, well, now we got superstar linebacker for the San Francisco 49ers, Fred Warner.
Okay, we now welcome on a very, very, very Very special guest. It is the legend four time All Pro Fred Warner here with Experian. What are you doing with Experian? Let's get. Let's talk some Experian. And then I have.
Man, Experian. I called him my friend.
Okay.
They help you save time and money. They got an amazing app where they help you get rid of unwanted subscriptions. We all fall victim to it, where we, you know, we get all those subscriptions that got the little 5.99, the 1099ers that kind of go, you know, under the radar. And so it helps you get rid all those things.
That's. I'm big in that. I have way too many subscriptions.
Exactly.
So that's.
That's what we're here for.
Yeah. And I'm doubled up with my wife on a bunch of them, and it's like, come on, dude. Yeah.
So we got to help that out a little bit.
I have a question about. So four time All Pro, right? Four time Pro Bowler. Are we still saying Pro Bowler because.
Because of the way that it's kind of got.
Yeah, yeah.
It's gotten a little hairy.
All Pro is obviously way more important.
I do hang my hat on the All Pros.
Yeah.
Those do mean a lot. You know, they both mean a lot, though. They. I think it has gotten a little strange with, like, kind of the alternates and that whole deal. I know that's kind of been a topic of combo this week, but, yeah, All Pro is literally outright the best in the entire league at your position. So, you know, at the end of the day, I guess when they. When you talk about all these accolades and in terms of, like, hall of Fame and those sort of things, you're going to hang your hat on the All Pros, so.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I'm gonna try to get more. Hopefully.
Yeah.
Down the line.
Yeah.
That's the goal.
Yeah.
I want to count you out. You look like you play right now.
Yeah, I could.
Would you have played?
Let's line up.
Yeah.
In the NFC championship?
I would have played.
Yeah. 100. 100.
I would have played.
I would have to. Niners have made it.
Yeah.
I actually. I wouldn't have sat out any of the playoff games.
Yeah, I know. I mean, I. I have sat out the entire year if my ankle wasn't broken in half. Like, that's where we were at.
That's incredible, though, that you're ready to go right now. Like.
Yeah.
What do they tell you when you first got injured? Like, did they say this whole year.
Well, yeah, I mean, it's, it's. It's probably not the best thing that when a guy's, you know, his foot was facing the other direction, be like, all right, man, we're going to see how fast we can get you back. It was like, no. The convo on that training table in, in Tampa after I did it was like, all right, like, you know, the sur we're going to do the surgery and I'm asking questions like, am I ever going to be able to play football again? Like, that was the conversation. Well, it wasn't like, all right, doctor, how quick can I come back? You know, it was. It's like, it's a horrific injury that you kind of, you, you hope that you never have to go through, but then you look on the other side of it. It's like, all right, they put that thing back together, they put them plates and the screws in there. You start doing a rehab and you're like, oh, wow. Like, I'm kind of progressing quicker than anticipated. And then that's when the combo started. Like, all right, Fred, are you ready mentally for us to kind of change this re your rehab process?
Because we're going to expedite this thing if you do want to make it back for the playoffs.
Yeah.
How much of that is. Is physical compared to mental? When it gets time to start getting out there and running on it, cutting off for the first time, like, was that. Was there a mental hurdle you had to get over?
For me, no. I think for a lot of guys there is. And I think just hearing those stories of like, different guys when they sustain different big injuries, like a. An ACL or an Achilles and you start doing jumps and stuff again for the first time, you talk about the mental hurdle that you have to overcome. And I think since I knew that that was a thing, it was almost like a challenge that I took on of like, now I'm gonna make sure that's not a thing. Like, let's get the biggest box we can get. Let me see if I can do a one legged, like, jump on it. You know what I'm saying? Like, so I kind of attacked it that way. Even though it may have been a little like, crazy way of thinking. That's just how I'm, I kind of, I've. I've made a name off of living in delusion almost. You know what I'm saying? So, like, I kind of just like was living in delusion a little bit when it came to recovering from this is like, like, oh, yeah, Let me recover in three months and play an NFC Championship game.
It's like, it's a bro. Are you kidding? It's like, yeah, but you do it. You know what I'm saying?
Were you close to playing in the game against Seattle? Like, what was the process there? Where did you test it that week?
So before that week it was Philly, and the whole, the whole plan all along was for me to wait it off as long. The doctors wanted me to push it off as long as possible to decrease the risk of re injury till that NFC Championship week. They're like, like, we're just going to throw you out there in NFC Championship week practices, and then that's the only week of prep you're going to get. And in my mind, I'm like, I don't really want that to be the first time I'm actually stepping back out there after doing what I did. Like, so I, I just asked the question. I was like, hey, can I open my practice window, the divisional round, get out there for a day of practice, just to run through individual drill, be out there with the fellas, boost morale, and then we'll see where we're at. And then they agreed. So that's why I was out there. That Thursday practice in the divisional round, that was the clips everybody was seeing of me being back out there, you know, and so that the, the thought of me playing in the divisional round only got sparked because everybody was like, oh, he looks actually pretty good in, in those clips.
Like, look, maybe he is going to play, but the plan all along was for the NFC Championship.
Yeah.
I said week, maybe week 14, week 15, that this might be Kyle Shanahan's best job coaching. And why is that all that the Niners had to overcome this year?
There you go.
And you talk about the injuries. You can also talk about, like, going back and forth between Brock Purdy and Mac Jones and. And not losing a step from that exact station. The substation that you've had.
Station. Of course we are.
We are, fellows.
It's the first year of us dealing with that. You knew that.
Yeah, yeah.
We had the guy on.
Yeah.
Our show.
Did you really?
Yeah.
Well, who's the guy?
The guy who, like, made the substation. No, he. He was the guy who was like, first, like, hey, this substation. He's very divorced. He just kept on talking about how divorced he was.
He's the most divorced guest that we've ever had on part of my take.
Did he get divorced because he was talking about the substance.
I think the substation was like, filled the void of his divorce.
Got it.
Like, he got really into learning about electricity.
What did he say? I'm. I'm. Now I'm actually interested to see what he said.
Well, he went to In N Out and he got some burgers, and then he was like, hey, there's a substation here. And so then.
Yeah, then he.
He's like, there's a real expert. You guys are doing measured?
Oh, yeah, big time. Yeah.
He's just asking questions. Is there a problem with asking questions?
No, not at all. I. I love asking questions as well. That's why I'm asking these questions.
I came to the conclusion that it'.
It's.
It's not nothing, but it's probably closer to nothing than.
Yes.
Everyone's making.
I like that. I like that.
So, like, it's probably. You probably don't want to be next to a substation.
Sure.
Yeah, ideally. But also, it's probably close to nothing.
Exactly. Who cares?
I mean, we work next to one and look at us. Yeah, we're super healthy.
I see it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You guys are great.
I'll take you on right now. I would again, I would have. I would have taped it up and gone back in that game in Tampa.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's how healthy I am. No, but, like, back to the cow thing. I think that this has been his best job coaching, and he's had some great years coaching football, too. But. But this year seemed to stand out to me. And my. My point of view after watching you guys play all year was that it seemed like the 49ers, they got everything that they possibly could have gotten out of the season.
Sure.
Do you feel the same way, or do you still feel like, hey, we. We should have beaten the Seahawks?
No, I do feel the same way. And at the end of the day, man, you need your horses when you're going up against the guys who have their. Their best players. You know, I'm saying, like, to not have me and Bosa on defense, those two in itself, I think, are big enough hits where it's going to be hard to, you know, when you start getting into that. That NFC Championship, divisional round type of games where you need those guys to make the plays. And the times that we have been healthy, man, we've been in that game down the street. Right. We've been in Super Bowls and have had a chance of winning them. Now, did we make that hurdle and win one? No, not yet. And I think that's why people kind of don't have Kyle in that conversation of greatest coaches to do it because he just hasn't been able to, to be at the very tip of the top of the mountain. But it's only a matter of time. It's not, it's not a thing of like, oh, is Kyle Shannon ever going to get a trophy? It's like, no, no, he's going to get one because he's that good.
And you see that in the moments of the greatest turmoil, how great a leader truly is. Because yeah, a leader can look damn good when he has all the best All Pros and Pro Bowls to his disposal. But what happens when you lose your franchise quarterback for a majority of the season? What happens when you lose all your all pros on the defense side of the ball? And how does that ship keep going? You get 12 wins. It's like, okay, now, now we're talking. Who, who's the best of the best?
Yeah, I, I actually think if I were John Lynch, I would just never get really good players because then they can't get injured and you can't have a season from hell.
Yeah, correct. I don't know about that thought process, but I, I see where you're getting at.
Yeah. If you never have a Fred Warner and a Bosa.
Yeah.
You can't lose them to injury for sure. You get a bunch of meat. Like, like middle of the road, guys. Yeah. Yeah.
Okay. Middle, middle of the road.
What if. All due respect, fact, what if you guys are our second strength next year and then after all the first string guys step up next, you're already going to be in the playoff.
We might have something there, but, you know, we probably still find a way to mess it up. No, I'm just kidding.
I don't know.
But yeah, man, I think we'll figure it out. We're constantly working on the whole injury thing.
Yeah, it's a tough division that you guys are, would you say the Googly Eyed Dragon?
Yeah, I did make that comment about the Googly Eyed Dragon. It seemed to have gone over well.
I didn't, I didn't know that there were that many Arizona Cardinals fans out there. It seemed like that was a pretty safe Cortez.
And listen to their credit, I said, unfortunately this year they happen to be that fair. You know what I'm saying? And here's another thing too is I got a lot of respect for Gannon, even though he got fired with the Cardinals because it didn't. He didn't have a great year this year. I thought he was Doing some good things with their squad because they battled us harder than they'd ever battle since Gannon got. Got hired to their, to their team. But of course, of course, you know, if you're not producing wins, then they're going to get you out of there and they're going to get the next group in there. But, yeah, we'll see how the floor does over there.
Yeah. So. All right, so sticking with the NFC west, let's talk a little Super Bowl. What. What is it about the Seahawks? What do they do? You guys played them, obviously, three times. You were. You played in the first game. The other two, you were. You were still out. But what, what has made it so that they are in this game and they have had such an incredible season. Him.
Yeah, I mean, you mentioned it right there. I was in the, the one game we won against them, and then I wasn't in the other two. So I don't know.
The Seahawks. Stop.
I'm the Seahawk. No. Yeah, but they, they got a loaded roster, bro. And it us. You know, more than that, I think Mike McDonald has done a great job of instilling the right culture within their team, because the way that they play the game in all three phases is exactly how we play the game. You know what I'm saying? And that, that's a, that's a credit to what he's been able to build in such a short amount of time and to be in a Super Bowl. They've been able to stay healthy with the, the caliber of players that they've had. Sam Darnold playing the best ball that he's ever played, you know, playing that way also in the playoffs is what's given them a chance to be in a Super Bowl. And, you know, if Sam can continue to do that in the super bowl, then there's no reason why they shouldn't hoist the trophy.
So I assume you still. Did you sit in the meetings, like, before the playoff game and before week 18?
I did, yeah.
So what, like, what are you trying to do when you're trying to stop the Seahawks? What is, like, the main. Is it. Is it jsn, Is it the run game? Like, what. What are you trying to get them into to, to stop them for.
For most any, any game plan that we have, man, it's always trying to stop the run first and make them one dimensional. Because if, if you can force them into a game where they're having to pass the ball, then you can now start manipulating different things with your coverages, with how you want to blitz the passer, you know, dictate pressures and stuff like that. But if you, if they can run the ball and which is in their system, which, you know, Kubiak system is just like our system with, with Shanahan, you know, the, the run in the past marry up together where they, they open up the past game through running the football. So Kenneth Walker coming alive during the playoffs with Charbonnet going down was probably the worst thing that could happen for everybody because he's had this, this ability in his body for so long that's been just itching to kind of come out where he can hit the home long, the home run ball at any time, he just got this ability. He's like the, the energizer bunny. He just runs all over the place and breaking tackles back and forth. And at any time it could be 80 yard or so, you have to be able to stop the run and make them one dimensional and then we can see if Sam Darnold can continue to deliver the passes without throwing it to us.
So you, so you mentioned their run game being similar to your guys run game and that like Shanahan, you know, coaching tree and how they want to run the ball. How, like what are the rules to stop that? Because if you watch it, the, the beauty of especially the Niners run game is like when McCaffrey gets the ball, he has like nine different ways he can go.
Right.
And there's, you know, the cutback's always there and he can stretch it out. Yes. And it's like, it seems like it's an impossible task because you. He can just go every direction for sure. So what do you. What like from a defensive perspective, what are the rules to what you're trying to do?
Well, in the run game especially, you're trying to set hard edges to the, to the defense. The, the way that McCaffrey and our system has success is if they're able to kind of on those, on those stretch plays, they want to be able to stretch the ball as far out on the field as possible and then cut the ball back. When the ball started over here, you want to cut it back over here because you drew the play all the way over this way.
Right.
So it's kind of like just manipulating space on the field. And if you're able to set a hard edge to start the down, now you're forcing the running back to make a quick decision. It's like, all right, do I cut back into the teeth of the defense right now or do I Try to continue to stretch it out where ultimately there's a guy right there and you're getting tacked, tackled right. On defense, you got to set hard edges and you got to be physical at the point of contact, because if you let them just kind of keep driving you out, that's exactly what the offense wants.
Is that hard? Is that like a difficult thing under a difficult thing when you're playing defense where you're like, hey, I have a rule for where I'm supposed to be, but I also think I can make the play. And that's when you can get burned.
Yeah, I mean, it's. It's.
I mean, you're so good that you probably.
No, no, I wouldn't play. No, we're not going to say that. But for. Especially for the edge setters, I would say, because it could be a defensive end, it could be a linebacker, it even. It even could be a defensive back, depending on the play. But the hard part when going against these schemes and against our scheme is we'll manipulate the play. You see all these shifts, all these motions before the snap even starts, because we're not ever just going to line up and be like, all right, set the edge on our tackle and we can't run. No, we're going to take juice and we're going to. We're going to fast motion this way and we're going to seal the edge. Make him bump you into our tackle now, making his job easier, and he can now move on to the. To the second level. Or we might just have our receiver in a cut, split chop down, and he's going to crack you, and then we're going to pull the tackle. We're going to get around the. Like, it's all different ways to get from point A to point B.
Right?
And so that's what the hardest part is as the defender. Playing our scheme is like you kind of have your eyes at your head on a swivel, like, where are they coming from?
Where's the block coming from?
Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's not just straight up one on one block.
You've had a lot of great defensive coordinators, too, in your time in San Francisco.
Great coordinators.
Who's. Who's the biggest psycho that you've ever played for?
The biggest psycho. Coordinators.
Yeah.
Man. Maybe Robert.
You think Robert's.
Oh, Salah.
He seems like he's got.
You saw what he said. You saw what he said. It's Cohen. After the game. This past. This past year, did you see that.
They got into it. Yeah, that was good.
I think he said, I'll end your life or something like that.
Yeah.
Something crazy. Yeah. I believe I believed him when he said that. Yeah.
I don't want to. I don't want to spark that back up, but, yeah, it was. It was something that. It was. It was a heated exchange because of something else that was built up during the week, but, yeah, solid. He got that dog in him for sure.
It's funny.
That's what you need.
Yeah. Whenever he'd be addressing the media in his time in New York, New York, it was like he. He had to put on the. The head coach. I'm going to address you. Respectfully. But he also wanted to murder every reporter in that room all the time. Like the, The. The clocks were ticking behind his head.
New York is brutal.
It seems like it is. Seems like it's a tough place to play.
Yeah.
What about d'? Amico? What's he like?
Straight dog. I mean, he's a guy who played at an All Pro and Pro bowl level as a linebacker. Who then is your linebacker coach? He was his first year as a linebacker coach was my first year in the league. And so we kind of grew up in this thing together. And then watching him go on to be the head coach for the Texans and watching his post game speeches to their team, I'm like, damn, I miss him. Like, he's such a. The most pure leader of men. If you had him in the dictionary, you'd see a picture of d' Amigo Ryan.
Was he tougher on you because he was a linebacker?
Oh, absolutely. Oh, my God. I was surprised that they didn't bench me my rookie year. After some of them games, I would come. I would come. I think it was a. A Thursday night game against Green Bay where I couldn't do nothing right. We were on the road and Aaron Rodgers probably had 5,000 yards, 10,000 touchdowns, and I messed up everything. And I thought I was getting benched that game, and they. They stuck it out with me. It was different back then. No. We didn't win anything.
You think you're gonna be coach one day? No, not. Not interesting, bro.
I just see the hours that they have to put in.
Yeah, you're doing media already.
You're, You're. You're away from your family even more than you were when you were a player, so I don't know if I would do that. Yeah.
Mike McDonald's never met his son. It's craz.
The super bowl, you know, the price.
You got to Pay. You might let him meet him after the Super Bowl. Yeah.
Instead the trophy.
Yeah.
Voice up his son like. Like, I got him. I got him.
Brutal business. But that's what it requires of you, man. It requires all of you.
Yeah, it does. Yeah. So you're doing some of the pregame with NBC, right. And Kyle Shanahan. So, like, media. You're. You're very good on the mic. What. What do you, like, Are you nervous at all? I mean, you've been in super. You played in two Super Bowls, right? Are you nervous to do the media for the Super Bowl?
No. I mean, it is. It's interesting. I think it'll be interesting. I don't know. I think I'll kind of just go with whatever I feel that day. And talking about the super bowl is going to be much different than playing in a Super Bowl.
Yeah.
But if anything, I think talking about is way easier than playing, so.
No. No.
Wrong. Yeah. Yeah.
It's harder.
Is it?
Yeah.
Yeah. Like our job on Super Bowl Sunday, I think it's hard.
What do you guys do?
Well, you have to eat a lot of food.
Okay.
Eat a lot of food.
So probably get, like, a stomach bug.
Get all your bets.
Yeah.
Yeah.
All right. So it's a lot. I can't forget the betting.
It's a lot.
So I haven't been a part of that yet. So.
Yeah.
Then you have to overreact to everything that just happened in the game. There it is. Yeah. That wins are the greatest team that's ever played.
Correct.
Team that lost.
I'm gonna see how many hot takes I can fit into an NBC, you know, situation there.
Yeah. Whoever wins, it's like, is this the start of a dynasty? Is this the best team ever?
I'm still trying to decide, do I go the route of, like, boosting up Seattle so they. Hopefully they lose or. Or do I tell them that they're not good and then Patriots build them up? I don't know. Yeah.
Figure that out. So. All right, so what about, like, playing in the Super Bowl? You played in two. How different is it? Like, the actual. When you get to the game and. And, you know, we. We. Everyone talks about, like, the speed.
Yeah.
Obviously the halftime's longer, but was it an adjustment to be in the super bowl where it's like, it takes a couple series to get fully into the game?
It definitely does. I would. Speed wise, the speed is slower in a Super Bowl. It's very, very strange. I felt that way in my. My first super bowl when I was only My second season, I felt like that was the slowest the game has felt, but it was, it was different because it's such a. The day is so long. First of all, it's two weeks of prep which have nothing to do. I mean, yeah, the first week you try to keep it as normal as possible to your, your regular preparation, but that second week is almost nothing to do with football. You go out there, you practice, but you do all this, the little stupid interviews and all that other stuff that ain't got nothing to do with playing football. And then you finally get to the game and it's the longest day of your life. The, the, the pre game is longer, the timeouts are longer, the halftime is longer. So by the time you get to the fourth quarter that first game, I was dead in that fourth quarter and I didn't know what to expect. And so I just ran out of fumes.
I think our team ran out of fumes when it came down to really having to play our best ball. So the second time around I made a conscious effort of, man, every time we get to the sideline, you better sit down and shut up. Don't waste any energy, don't celebrate nothing, don't do nothing but just sit there because we're gonna need all our energy. We got into overtime that game and it was still at that point I'd given it all and you know, it's just, it's draining. It's a draining game.
Do you think you should have played defense first over time?
No. And I'll tell you why.
Yeah, you're wrong.
And I shouldn't. I'll tell you, I'll tell you why.
Okay, why we shouldn't then. I'll tell you why.
Why? And I'll tell you why. So this is, this is the thing, right? We go all day. I'll tell you why. Level why off we had just got done on defense, stopping Patrick Mahomes and their offense from going and going down and scoring the game winning touchdown to win the game. We were up in that game by three points in the fourth quarter. They drove us down on like a 15 play drive. I remember being man to man on Travis Kelce on that last third down before they had to kick the field goal and he ran a corner route which I had seen him run on Kyle Hamilton, I want to say, in the AFC championship game the week before or the week before that individual, and he scored the touchdown. So I knew exactly the route he was running. And I go, Pat throws the ball, I barely tip it out, tip it away. And I get up and I'm just like, holy smokes. Like, I'm fried. And so then we. We. They kick the field goal. They tied up. We go to overtime. And I'm sitting there at the coin toss, and you can kind of see, like, I'm just like, like, trying to catch my breath still.
So if our defense had to go back out there to start overtime, we're dead tired.
Okay.
Let our office go out there and fight for a little bit and then give it. And then let us go get a chance. That's a fair point.
Okay. But then also, you gave them four downs to. To come back, and they didn't you get them to fourth down.
We did get my fourth down.
I think you got him right away.
Almost. Was it.
I think it was fourth and one.
You may know better than me.
First set of downs or the second.
Set definitely had him on a fourth down on one on their own side.
Of the field, which they would have maybe had to. To punt if they had gotten the ball first.
That's why. Oh, would they have punted?
I don't know.
Yeah, we'll never know.
If you. If you don't get it there, the game is literally over.
Yeah. Yeah.
So it's. It's. It's just interesting with the new overtime rules, like having that extra down and knowing exactly what you need most, definitely it is a little bit of an advantage.
But I definitely know no matter what, you go defense first. Now, that is just what. What it is. But I think given the circumstance of. Of our game.
Cardio.
Yeah, I think it's my fault. Yeah. My cardio. I'm the one that. That made the decision at the coin toss.
I wouldn't have gotten tired on me, baby. Yeah.
That's all right. No, that's another chance.
We were. I mean, we were rooting for you guys hard because, you know, Kittle's a good friend of ours, and it's just. It was like, right there.
Yeah.
And it just. Have you. How long did it take you? Not to bring up bad memories, but how long did it take you to get over?
Like, I'm still not over now. Yeah, it's funny too, because, like, you forget. You don't forget about it, but you stop thinking about it, and then you get to super bowl week and you start talking about it again. It's like, oh, shoot, I forgot all about that.
Like, here's a spin zone for you. The second loss probably helped you get over the first loss because the second loss was worse.
Oh, Christ. I mean, look, they both sucked.
Yeah.
You know, but here's the thing, you guys. I would never. I would never. I would never take it back. I would never say, man, I wish I just didn't play in any of the Super Bowls because I was. I'm so afraid of losing them. I'll go back and I'll lose two more.
No, you're gonna win the next.
I don't care. But, yeah, we are gonna win the next one.
Yes.
But what I'm trying to say is, like, I'm not afraid of losing a Super Bowl.
Right.
You know what I'm saying? Like, it's more. It's more meaningful to have been there and played in it and have an opportunity to go fight for it.
It's also probably awesome being part of an organization where it's like, you guys have a realistic chance to be in the super bowl every single year.
Most definitely.
You know, it's like, you guys have the guys, you have the coaching. Correct.
And so it's only a matter of time, man. In the next one, we definitely winning it. I guarantee next year.
Yeah.
I, I. Because it's, it's one of those things.
It's.
Sports are so stupid like this. But, like, the Niners have been. You guys have had such an. Done. And it's just that last piece. And once you get that last piece, I feel like people will acknowledge just how good these teams have been.
Most definitely.
Yeah.
Which is stupid.
We should just acknowledge it.
Listen. All right. It's all good, man. That's just part of how it goes. And maybe the substation will give us some extra superpowers.
Yeah. You gotta harness it. You gotta.
We hard.
If we, if we just embrace it.
Yes.
And let it. So like, like the Hulk.
Charge up.
Yeah.
Charge.
Charge.
Use that charge to really. And go to the Super Bowl.
I think that's the right mentality. I, I got one more bad memory that maybe we can talk about just a little bit. The, The NFC Championship game against the Eagles.
Okay.
Every quarterback on your roster gets injured.
Right.
Did anybody on defense volunteer to take snaps in the second half?
I would have. I would have volunteered, but I just. I know that was never going to fly now. What I wish it would, we would have done. We would have aired it out with cmc. I wanted to see. I mean, he did try to throw that one little reverse pass out there, and it, it. He didn't throw it to anybody, but maybe if we would have let him do with a little drop by that. Or Juice. Juice. Is like a backup quarterback. Let him kind of toss the pill around a little bit.
Juwan Jennings.
Now, Juwan Jennings could have maybe did.
It higher ranked than Lamar Jackson.
Really?
In. In rival high school. Yeah.
And Joe.
Joe Burrow.
Yeah.
Yeah. He was the number two ranked quarterback in his class.
He was ahead of Kyler Murray, too.
Isn't that crazy?
Oh, no, not. Not ahead of common. Pretty sure it was, like, high school player.
I'm pretty sure. I'll find out.
Yeah, please look it up. That'd be great.
Kyler Murray might have been number one, he might have been number three, but he was ahead of Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson.
I didn't know that. I mean, he's fantastic athlete, so, I mean, it makes sense. But. Yeah, I mean, at the. At the end of the day, we never had a shot because we could. We.
You guys would have smoked him if you had a.
We had to turn off passing in the game like it was. We played with passing turned off.
It wasn't. It wasn't Kyler. It was. He was higher ranked than Sam Darnold, Joe Burrow, and Lamar Jackson.
Still impressive.
That's pretty crazy.
Yeah. Still very impressive. I don't know how that happened, where they switched him over to receiver, but.
Yeah. All right, I got one more bad memory. It's actually not a bad memory. It's more of a. I want you to narrate what happened when. When you were playing in Philadelphia that regular season. Or maybe it was the year after.
The year after.
And the little scuffle happens on the sideline.
Yeah.
Dre Greenlaw, he comes back to the sideline. Was he like, dude, that big Italian guy would have me up.
Would never say that.
Yeah, that guy was serious business. Big Dom is serious.
Straighten up, Dom.
Look out for Drake Greenlaw. No, you gotta look out for Dom.
No, you.
You don't. You don't understand.
Dom.
Listen, I. I don't understand. Dom. No, I don't. I don't know anything about him. I don't even know why he was there on the sideline. I don't know what that was.
I mean, what if you knew he was there?
Yeah, he was keeping order, got kicked out, like.
And then there's. And then they lost the game.
They did lose the game. They did lose the game. So, I mean, look, that was actually.
A great ejection for Dre. It's like, yeah, I'll give up Dream Greenlaw if it means that biggest player.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, I mean, you never want guys getting kicked out of games, man, you want to be able to see how it unfold. But yeah, Big Dom, it seemed like he, he, the man over there in Philly. He, the man, he, he is beloved. So he obviously doing what he's supposed to do. But in that, in that particular moment, yeah, that was unfortunate.
It was wild.
It was wild.
Yeah. Very fun.
That was an electric game though. After all the build up from the year before.
Right.
Of all the talk about, of, oh, let's see the boohoo. NER is going to walk up in. I forget who said that. It's on Reddick. Oh, you got to strap it up and come back in the link. And then we did just that and put belts.
How much, how much of like bulletin board stuff actually plays in. Because it's, it's like, it's so weird because you guys are obviously all so good and professionals, but I do think there are things as like let down spots and games that you circle. Like and when you have someone talk before a week, does it. It riles everyone up.
I mean, I don't know about everyone. I can only speak personally. I think I'm always trying to make it as personal as I can because you just, there's something that you're just going to give you a certain edge about yourself if it, if it is personal right now. It doesn't even mean that they have to say something about you or about the team to give you that edge. Like you can make something up completely in your mind. And I do that a lot where I just make something up to be like, nice, personal now with this team, like and so, so to get you in that frame of mind where it's like it's you or me and like almost like kind of like, you know, if we're fighting, like that's just kind of what this game is. It's such a violent game and it's like kind of just mano e mono, big on big. So you kind of have to have some sort of edge. And I always try to play with that sort of edge.
Yeah.
Do you hate the Seahawks? Yeah, I like that. I respect that.
Yeah.
So you want them to lose?
Yes.
You want, you don't want to see the Seahawks hoisting Lombardi in your state.
You can clip it however you want. Want however you want. Do I hate the Seattle? Do I not want them to win? Listen, any divisional rival, it could have been the Cardinals. I would have said the same thing. But when you see a team twice a year and you have the battles like they do like, yeah. I mean, Patriots by 50.
I like it. I like.
That's what I've said all week.
Who else. Who else do you hate like, that? You like. I don't. I. There's something a little extra juice in that game. Eagles, I would assume.
I guess the Eagles have kind of built up that little bit of. A little bit of something, which. It makes it so much more fun, by the way. Like. Yeah, so much more fun when there's something. When there's something, like, extra about it.
Yeah.
That's why when we have. Since we have such a good division, like Seattle and the Rams, and we'll see if the Cardinals can, you know, make their way back, like, it makes those games so much more fun, because when you have something more to play for.
Yeah.
As a player, man, it's just. Yeah, it's just more fun. You know, we created like a. I wouldn't even say a rivalry, but, like, even Detroit, you know, a couple years ago when we had that comeback against them, and I. I had Amon Raw on my podcast, and he's talking about last year, how it was, like, the most mad he was ever been going into a game. And I had no idea that they were even feeling that sort of way, like. Like. But that's just what happens when you lose these meaningful games. It creates, like, this. This hatred in you. Like, I gotta go get those Niners now. Like, it's just. It makes the game that much more fun when you're.
When you're playing a game, like the NFC Championship Game, and there was obviously a lot of talk afterwards about, you know, Dan Campbell, not King field goals. When you're on the. The field, are you hoping that they.
Go for it or you.
Because we always. Our argument from, like, when we're sitting there watching the game, it's like, if you're watching the game and you're a Niners fan, you're hoping they know you're hoping they kick a field goal because you're like, if they go for it, they're going to score a touchdown.
Sure.
So it's like, you're almost rooting, like, the minute they go for you, like, great. Like, let's just stop them. So is that going through your head?
I mean, it's got to be weird.
Like, when you get to that fourth down, you're like, all right, we did our job. Wait.
It's so much harder when you have to play a full four downs rather than just the three, because, like, in most instances, you're playing for the three downs. Knowing that if you get off the field on three, you're off the field after the three. But when it is a team like the Lions, where they're so committed to going forward, on fourth down, you have to play an extra down, you're. That we talked about being gassed and how out of shape I am. Like, shoot, I'm. I'm out there. Yeah. I'm out there just freaking out now. Fourth down. And so. And they're so good at what they do on fourth down, especially back then. So. Yeah, I mean, I don't know if I was hoping that they would go for it, but that's ultimately what gave us a chance to come back in that game, because they did go for it, and they didn't convert in those crucial moments.
Yeah.
Is there one guy in the NFL that. That maybe a. A good player that thinks he has a rivalry against you?
But.
But you don't think that it's a rivalry?
Yeah, I wouldn't know unless I. Unless he came out. Step. Step forward and. And named himself. Because a lot of these guys, they hold these grudges behind. Behind the door. I don't know about.
Will you talk trash to anybody, or does it have to. You have to meet a certain level of player?
No, I'll talk to anybody, but I'd say it's. It's probably evolved over time. Yeah, it's evolved over time.
What was. So you were teammates with Sam Darnold?
Yeah, for.
For a year.
Great dude.
What was it? Because that was kind of in his, you know, reclamation of, like, you know, his path through the jets and the Panthers and the Niners to the Vikings. What was it like playing with him? And could you see, like, honest assessment when you're playing with him? He's the backup, but are you like, hey, he's gonna have another shot?
Yeah.
I mean, you actually get. You get a great look at the backup when you're the starting defense, because you're going against that guy. Usually on the scout team, he's getting those reps against you, you know, every single day of practice. So Sam always had this ability to throw the ball and put it wherever he wanted on the field. Especially in our system, we roll our quarterbacks out a lot, where you have to throw the ball on the run, and I think he throws the ball on the run, whether it's to his right or his left, as good as anybody. So, I mean, you saw that every single day, and he was. It was a great fit for our team. I mean, he was a great dude fit right in. So, yeah, I think it was only a matter of time before he got another shot. And then he did with Minnesota. Phenomenal year. It just. He had that narrative to him where it was like, he can't win the big one. So what happens? They. Their team loses against a really good Rams team. Right. It's a team thing. Like, it's not. Of course, the quarterback has to do with a lot with wins and losses because they have the ball in their hands usually at the end of it, but, you know, they let him walk out that door, and now Seattle has the pleasure of being able to try and go win a Super bowl with them.
Yeah. Yeah. It's been. It's been fun to watch him. I can't help but root for. For. For Sam Donald, seeing how he's. He's gone through the league and just kept improving, improving, improving. It's pretty cool to watch. There's a guy that's on your team, Brock Purdy, that. I think it took a. It took a while for number one for people to. To like, warm up to him, to be like, okay, this guy's legit.
Sure.
Probably just a byproduct of where he was drafted.
Absolutely.
If you watched him in college, a little inconsistent at times. But it seems like this season he's unlocked something else. Where, like, who taught him how to. Gritty. Who taught him how to.
There was a.
There's one game Dougie. He gritted once, but there was one game where he. He duggied twice. He had. He had prepared.
I think it was the Bears different Dougies.
I think he's like the Euro step into a Dougie on one of them, and that's just how, you know, you just in a flow state. You out there just fooling around on him. You throw that. You do. You saw that play that he had when he did that. He was like. He dodged two guys and then just kind of threw it to jews right there in the corner and then just ran off. And I'm like, that's my qb. I'm up in the box because I'm hurt and I'm up there. Just is going crazy.
But you get double doggied by Brock Purdy. Like, that's.
That's a tough day.
Yeah, that is.
He was in the zone. I'm a Bears fan. He was in the zone in that.
He threw a pick six to start the game.
Start the game. Yeah.
Right. Like, that's not a good start. But guess what? It doesn't matter because you're Brock Purdy. You go out there, you keep slinging that thing, and he gave us the, the opportunity to win that game and, and he'll give us an opportunity to win every game going forward. This man is the man. And just, I mean, I go all day about him, but.
So when did it, when did it switch for you? Because I can't.
You never did?
No. So you're saying them first.
I didn't know. I didn't know he would be what he is now.
Right, but was there a moment where you're like, oh, I always love. Not just not. I'm not saying you always didn't love him. I'm just saying, like, was there a moment that you can remember where you're like, oh, yeah, he's on a. He is in a level that people don't realize.
Oh, yeah, yeah. No, I think in terms of like elite ball being played probably that year in 23, when he was up for contention to be the MVP of the league, you know, because at that position and in our league in general, you have to be consistent over a longer period of time before you really start getting crowned as a certain type of individual. You know, I'm saying, like, you can, you can be a flash in the pan, you can win all pro ones, you can win a Pro bowl one time, but you got to be able to do it over a sustained amount of time. So, you know, I think Brock, from the moment he came in, when Jimmy G went down against the Dolphins and he showed some elite ball being played even back then when he first came in, he's been able to do it consistently over time, again and again and again, and he only is getting better and last this past season is the best he's ever played, in my opinion. And obviously I had a front row seat now since I was injured, to really watch him and talk to him, be like, man, like, how are you just such in the zone?
He's like, man, I'm just, I'm just, just playing, playing ball, like doing my thing.
Well, it's, and I think it's, it's stupid by us talking about the media and fans. We, we the, the round you get drafted. Yeah, it like, no, it doesn't hurt. He gets drafted in the seventh round. It takes an extra couple years.
It'll always be attached to him forever.
You probably had it too, where your third round draft pick, like, you are one of, if not the best defensive players out on the field in, you know, the last five years. Was there a moment though, that you were like, oh, I'm I'm like, awesome at this because I would imagine there's a little bit of you, like, you know, when you start, you talk about the game against the packers where it's.
Like, you know, you're struggling.
Was there a moment where it clicks like, oh, I, I, I'm sick.
I mean, that's a great way to sick. No, thanks, bro.
I mean, keep it coming, please. More.
There was a moment in my third season where we played Aaron Rodgers on Thursday night and they obliterated us. But he came up to me after the game, and I had been doing my thing that year, and he was, I was miked up. So it, the mic caught him coming up to me and be like, hey, Fred, you're the best linebacker in the league. You deserve to be All Pro this year. And I was like, that means the world coming from Aaron Rodgers, hall of Fame Aaron Rodgers MVP multiple time, like. And so that was kind of a moment for me where I think that kind of took me to that next level. When you have a guy of that caliber kind of giving you your flowers, I think that that ultimately helped me go on to be an All Pro that year, you know, for the first time. So it was, it was dope.
Did. Was there a moment, too, where, like, the game got slower for you, where you're almost in a zone where you're like, hey, I, I, I can read. I know I've done this. Not now enough. Now that I know what's going to.
Happen halfway through my second season, you know, that whole off season going into my second year, I was coming off of, like, a scope in my knee, so kind of trying to deal with that to start the year. I had Quan Alexander next to me. He's coming off of a torn acl, but just a straight dog, like, brought this swag to our defense. And I didn't have the great, the best start to my second year. It was kind of rocky a little bit. And then something just clicked. Where it was on a, I think a Sunday night or Monday night game against Seattle at home. And I had two, my first two career sacks against Russell Wilson, who at the time was like, the hardest guy to get on the ground. I had two sacks against him, punch the ball out in prime time. We didn't end up winning that game, but, like, me making those type of plays, it kind of let me know, like, all right, boom. Like, I'm, I'm finding my, my groove now. And I went on to, like, when November's like, defensive player of the month and stuff like that.
But it kind of just started to, like, instill that confidence in me of, like, okay, I can do this.
Yeah, that's awesome.
You were talking about being up in the booth and. And then. And I saw that there was one game. Was it Seattle, where you started up, like, up in the booth, and then.
The divisional playoff game?
Yes.
Yeah.
What made you make that switch? Because we're always interested when, like, a coordinator is like, I'm going to go to the sidelines now.
Yeah. No. We were down 170 to start the game and just wasn't looking good. And so I was like. I remember being in the box because the reason why I was in the box in the first place was because we talked about it with the staff, like the training staff before the game, and they're like, to give you the best chance to have a good training session going into tomorrow to ultimately have a chance at playing in the game the next Sunday. If we win. You need to be in the box, because if you're on your feet the whole game, your ankle's probably going to blow up, swell up all this kind of stuff. So I'm like, all right. And so I'm up in the box. We're watching. We're right there in the corner of the end zone where Rashid Shahid returns his kickoff return for a touchdown. And I'm sitting there like, oh, great way to start the game. And it kind of just was not going our way early on. They're playing to the. Their crowd, the momentum of the crowd. And I'm sitting there. I'm sitting next to Patrick Willis, who's up there.
And I'm like, man, we just gotta. We gotta settle in. We gotta play the game. Like, don't let them. Them play to the momentum. Like, let's just make them actually play the game. And he's in, and he's like, Patrick said, man, they need to hear that from you. And I was like, all right, like, done deal. And so I just. I asked for a security guard to get me down there, and I tried to just rally the guys. And ultimately, of course, wasn't even. Wasn't enough to get us over the hump, but just wasn't our day.
Did you think about giving any instructions on how to tackle to the kicker?
So that's the thing, right?
I mean, he's. Yeah, the slide tackle is a little bit more natural for a kicker.
Right.
Because you're going to lead with that leg that you're wanting to kick with.
Yeah.
So was it. Was it the best Move. No, but he should have just committed to the slide and got him on the ground.
I agree. Get him.
Pull the flag.
Yeah.
At least you got him down with this. It would have been sick too, to have that on film. You for slide tackle a guy.
Yeah, that would, you know, right there. That would have stepped the rivalry up to the next level because that would have been replayed over and over again for the next.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Okay, you gotta go studs up. Take them out.
Yeah.
Get sent off.
We want to hurt nobody.
Yeah, don't hurt. Don't like, go studs up. Like.
Yeah, yeah. I know exactly what you're talking about. Yes.
Did you get in trouble for climbing the scaffolding?
Nah, man. That was just part of the rehab program.
That was crazy.
It's incredible.
Yeah.
Like, what?
Thanks, man. What is that just like Spider man out there, right?
Like, no, John lynch wasn't like, hey, Fred, can you please not.
No, there's like, go ahead, Fred. Just climb the scaffold.
You think about doing the Taiwan Tower on Netflix. Like, get. Get the.
Who was that guy?
Alex Honnold, the free solo guy.
Sick.
I thought what you did was more impressive. It was faster.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Did you have any family that was fake, bro. It wasn't real. No.
Family members reached out. They were like, hey, was. Is this real?
No, I think they kind of knew better. I think Fred's ankle was just broken in half a couple.
But he's going up the scaffold.
He's going up the scaffolding anyway. Yeah. So it's.
I. I like, I wish we had more of it. Like, it used to be those commercials, like the Chris Cooley.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Wall.
That's exactly like Michael Vick throwing out of the stadium.
We need to get rid of that. I know. This is the time to do it. Bring it with AI. Like you would. You wouldn't even know the difference. Yeah, they did it good back then.
I agree.
I. I believed it.
That was a fantasy football stuff, right?
Yeah.
Yeah. Those were incredible. Those were the AI videos before. AI videos.
Correct. I forget who, like, threw the ball to themselves and, like, had to run over and catch it.
But that might have been Vic.
No, it was like a receiver or something.
I remember Jason Campbell did one where he threw the ball and then threw another ball and then bounced him into two different receivers. Hands. Yeah.
Coolies through the wall. The wall.
Andre Johnson might have been blocked, blindfolded at one time doing those. Yeah, yeah, we gotta. We'll get to work on writing Some of those.
Okay, good.
What are you thinking for next year for the 49ers? What are the goals for next year? It's always Super Bowl. How do you manage that? Like, you show up day one. Is it to win the division or you're like, hey, the goal is to win the Super Bowl.
No. Yeah. The goal is always to win the Super Bowl. And that's just been what it is since I've gotten here. Like, we have a pedigree. Where you walk in, man, that building has them trophies in the, in the case right there. You got five super bowl trophies. And it's like, this is our standard.
Standard.
This is what it is. If you don't. If you don't get this, then it's not enough. So that is the standard. That is the goal every year. But then you look at, okay, now we got to break this thing down a little bit into bite sized pieces because you're not going to win the Super Bowl. Day one of OTA's phase one. You know, I'm saying, like, all right, how are we going to build this thing up from the ground up? And. And then we go. So, you know, we got some. We got some things we got to now work through. We got a new defensive coordinator, Raheem, who we're super happy about, getting him on board. Building our defense back up, finding ways to improve in all areas, offense, defense, special teams. To give ourselves a chance to win the division, to secure a one seed. Because at the end, that's what everybody's fighting for. Everybody wants the one seed. Because you play one less playoff game to ultimately go to a Super Bowl.
Yeah, yeah.
You know, you want to just give yourself a chance to go to a Super bowl to win that game. It wouldn't, you know, have the best team there.
What, how, how bad do international games suck?
Six, seven? No, I don't know.
I mean, it's.
Yeah, they, they're. They're tough. Yeah, they are tough on just like the, the scheduling part of it, you know, like, because you have to recover from the long flights and all other stuff.
We gotta wake up early.
You guys have to wake up early.
Yeah.
To watch it. But I loved, I will say I loved playing in Mexico. That was. That was sick. That was.
Cut that part. That was the podcast rivalry with our producer, Hank. He loves the international games.
Games.
We.
It's gotten too much.
Attaboy.
It used to be special. There's too many of them and they're gonna get to the 60. Everyone's gonna have to play one soon.
Yeah, I mean, that's, that's the goal. They're trying to make it more of a worldwide sport. Right. So you don't care. Yeah, it's our America.
America, The super bowl overseas, we can't have that.
No.
We fought a war. We fought a war back in 17.
Imagine playing a Super bowl like in China.
They're gonna do it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Why not?
They're gonna do it.
It'd be sick. Like no Stadium, that's like 200, 000. And you know, it's like true Gladiator. You know what I'm saying? Oh, played in the Coliseum. Rebuild the Coliseum and play.
Okay, all right. Coliseum, Coliseum.
Yeah, yeah.
You have a Tiger out on the field too.
Yeah, yeah.
Tigers, Bears.
Yeah, Sick.
I got a question for you. About, about the green dot.
Yes.
When you're wearing the green, you wear the green dot, right?
I do.
So what, what happens, what happens with the green dot? Like, what does that sound like before the play starts? Because I know on offense we know what's going on. On. We've heard those play calls a million times.
Yeah.
On defense, maybe I'm being stereotypical about defensive coordinators. Like I said, some of them are psychos.
Yeah.
I imagine it's a little bit looser sometimes in the communication.
On defense, it just depends on the character, it depends on the guy. It depends on the scenario of the game that we're in because it might be a flustered coach that you're dealing with. You know, you kind of got to filter out what he's trying to tell you. Yeah, but yeah, it's just, it's just a microphone. At the end of the day, it's a one way microphone, which that part of it sucks because like a lot of time I want to be able to just communicate back at some points. But if you want to say something back to them, you got to either, you know, sign language it to them or you got to run over to the sideline and communicate whatever you need to communicate. But at the end of the day, man, I feel like defense and what I do with my microphone is so much simpler than what a quarterback has to deal with. Quarterbacks, the verbiage, I mean, I think that's why they have wristbands.
Right.
It's like the play card coming to me like B6. And then you just flip the thing up and just look at the, the play and tell everybody. Yeah, but the times where you had to, you know, the Peyton Mannings and the Tom Brady's of the world where you had to like give out these long calls of like. All right, can to alert. So you have three different plays in one thing. And for us it's like.
Bear.
You know, like you just say one word, like it means this. You know what I'm saying? So it's like, it's just so much different. But that doesn't mean that it's just easy for us on defense. Like we have to. To now play off of whatever the offense is showing us and giving us, you know, so it's like cat and mouse game.
All right, I got a couple last questions. Strongest offensive lineman. Can't name Trent Williams.
Yeah.
But a guy who's like, they put your. Their hands on you and you're like, oh, that's. That's different.
I've come across a couple of those guys. I guess it depends on the position. I think the one that came to mind first was Creed Humphreys with Kansas City phenomenal center Penne Sue. Well, got that Polynesian strength at tackle.
And does it fit? You can feel it. It's different.
It's different. Yeah, definitely. I mean, there's a reason why some of these guys are like elite, you know, I'm saying it's just. They just got a different something about them.
Yeah.
It comes to that and you know, you pair that with like the, the ballerina feet like Trent Williams, that's where you get hall of Fame.
Right, Right. You could have also said Kittle. I would allowed you to say that.
Kittle got a nice strong, firm base to him. That's why he's known as the best blocking tight end in the game.
Yep.
Right past blocking, run blocking. He does it all. He'll be back doing that again soon. So, yeah, that's probably who I'd go with.
Okay. And then you, you're not rooting or you're rooting for the Seahawks to lose, but give us your. So you said Patriots by 50, but what is your non. Biased. Yeah, actual. What you think is going to happen in the Super Bowl.
What I think's going to happen. I think the game will actually be a lot closer than people think. You know, I think there are. People are already saying they're crowning Seattle to be the winners because of loaded. They are. And they very well could make it lopsided if, you know, if the game gets away from the Patriots, if, if the moment's too big for Drake and he ends up throwing two or two interceptions or they fumble a snap or something and it can snowball that way, but the way That I hear Mike Vrabel being talked about kind of in that same Bella check. What? I'm not calling him Belichick. I'm just saying in terms of prepping his guys for situational ball, if they can win some of those moments where they're, you look up at game. All right, they won on third down on offensive defense. They won the time of possession battle. They had the takeaway versus Seattle. They couldn't get the takeaway. That's where you're going to see. All right, that's what's going to give the Patriots best chance to win the game.
Okay, so actual prediction.
Actual prediction. I guess you'll have to tune in NBC and find out.
No, you can do one here and then you can change it so that way you can be right both ways.
I already gave my prediction.
Okay.
50.
Yeah, that's right.
Okay.
All right, my last question, the robot question. Rho, B, A, C, K.com promo code take 20 off your first purchase. Q, zips, polos, hoodies, joggers, shorts. Roback.com promo code take. Would you have answered a soaking question?
Probably not.
Okay, there we go. That's good thing.
That's that, that's, you know, just gotta, you know, respect to my, my wife and.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's that. It actually kind of sucks that once like the world figured out about BYU and soaking, if you just see a BYU guys guy, it's like they're gonna ask. It's like, it sucks. It's actually not fair for you.
It is what it is, man. It comes with the territory.
I'm happy I asked it that way.
Yeah. Thank you.
That's a good move.
That's a good move.
How excited are you for BYU basketball this year?
Yeah, I'm very excited. Yeah. I mean, we should win it all. No, and football. I, I, I don't follow too closely.
Did you get any of that cookie money? The crumble?
You getting tapped into the crook?
I haven't got tapped into the crumble.
Cu.
There's a lot of it. There's a lot of it.
That's.
That guy, though, is taking a lot of credit. It's like another guy who's.
There's lots of guys.
There's a lot of guys who got a lot of money.
A lot of money over there.
Yeah.
Yeah. So, I mean, we should win it on. Why not?
Yeah. I went to Utah. I actually went to University of Utah to, for a game this year, but it was like, it's a cool setting in Utah. BYU Is such an awesome game every year. What was your record in the holy war over?
Oh, sickening. I know, but that's why I kind of. I live through our guys now, because I feel like we've won, like, the past three or four meetings.
Yeah, I know. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And BYU football feels like it's. It's on the.
On the. It's on the rise, baby.
Yeah.
Rise and shout.
The Cougars are out the cooking the cookie money again. You should get free cookies. At minimum, you should get free cookies for life. Right?
For life is crazy, but sure, why not? I don't think why not yet.
For my.
My dedication to the program.
Sure.
A freshman, $8 million a year. They can give you free cookies for life. It's dropping the bucket.
Why not? You said it here.
What's Cougar's name again? What?
Cosmo.
Cosmo.
Cosmo.
He does too much.
You think so?
Yeah, he does. He can do some more. No, no, no. This is also very.
People love it.
Well, this is very personally motivated by me, where it's like, if I bet on a BYU game, it's like 10pm at night.
Yes.
I'm getting my teeth kicked in, and Cosmo's jumping through a rope like a hoop of fire. And I'm like this stupid mascot. So I understand that that's probably part of it.
There's a person. There's a personal vendetta there.
Yeah.
It's like rooting against Brock Purdy and having Double Dougie on you.
Yeah, right, Exactly.
Don't rub it in.
Extra cost.
That's why you got to join the.
Our.
Our side, though. You join our side, then you start laughing at everybody else. I got to deal with it.
Yeah.
Then you got Cosmo. Cosmo on your side would be pretty good because he is pretty awesome mascot.
He is.
Yeah.
I got one last, last question for you, because we interviewed Jake Bobo. Has Jake Bobo ever put his hands on you? He's a great blocking wide receiver. He'll put you.
Yeah.
I mean, yeah, he's pretty, you know.
That's Bobo.
Big solid guy. Yeah.
You'll get Bobo Pancake.
Is that a new. You'll get Bobo if you get Bobo'd.
Yeah, that's.
Listen, make Bobo Boo Boo on himself.
Oh, good. That's rivalry.
I like that. Rivalries back on.
Yeah.
All right.
Well, Fred, this has been awesome, man. Thank you so much. And we love watching you play ball and excited to see you back next year.
Thanks, fellas. Appreciate you having me on.
Fred Warner was brought to you by twisted tea. Twisted tea is the absolute best. Hank, you're going to have some twisted tea this weekend. It's super twisted.
I'm ready. I'm ready for one now.
Twisted. You have one now.
Crack one open.
Yeah, crack one open.
Maybe you'll lighten up a little bit.
Yeah, here we go.
Stop being a grump.
I'm the.
I'm in the sun, Hank.
Say something nice about it. So I'm getting you this twisted.
You're the sun today.
Yeah, I'm a beacon of shining light upon all this podcast. Can I have a. Yeah, you know what?
I'll.
I'll do raspberries.
Go raspberries. They're. They're all delicious. We love twisted tea. It's a refreshing hard iced tea tea made with real brewed tea, 5% alcohol. Twisted Tea is an ultimate drink to pair with the biggest game of the football season. Whether hanging out at a friend's house, catching a game at the stadium, if you're at the bar, if you're day drinking with the buddies, twisted tea is there to turn your big game up a notch. Make a good time, a great time. Grab a refreshing twisted tea today. Catch it. Twisted tea is the best. How's that raspberry, Hank?
Delicious.
Of course it is. They're all good. And now, now we got Jake Bobo.
Okay, we now welcome on a very, very, very, very special guest. He will be playing in Super Bowl 60 on Sunday. It is Jake Bobo, our wide receiver.
1.
Is that okay for us to say that you're too good to me? I mean, listen, you're a legend in this, in this room right now. Let's start there. Actually, we should just start with we. Some of us in this room. Matt Max is who I'm pointing to and Hank as well.
Thanks, Maxi.
Bet. Bet you to score a touchdown at 35 to 1 in the NFC championship game. Yeah. And that was an incredible route you ran.
Well, I appreciate it. Yeah, thanks a lot.
Did you know in that, in that play you're like, all right, I got one on one coverage. I'm gonna break this down. Like you knew the ball was coming to you because you only had what, two catches all season?
Three.
Yeah, two. Three all season. A couple in last. Last few games. I'll tell you, dude, when you play receiver alongside Jax and he's getting clouded, he's getting double teamed all game and you've just got. You're just playing one on one for the whole game, it makes things a lot easier. So I knew I had a pretty Good idea. Once that safety rolled to Jax that the ball would probably be coming my way. And so don't drop it.
Yeah, yeah.
You know, let's not sell yourself short, though. Oh, I love you guys.
Wants to say something to you.
No, I just want to thank you DraftKings. We had. We did a little betting competition from DraftKings and I took you live 35 to 1 and it's. It's basically paying. It's paying for my wedding. Hey, listen, I. I meant to come here with a wedding invite to give you because it felt only right.
Since when's the wedding?
It is in July. It's in the Caribbean.
You probably won't go, but you're invited.
But you are. You are invited for pretty good. For paying for my wedding. You paid for my wedding, so that's.
You're the man for that.
You will forever be.
I have.
I have a jersey coming on the way. I got a. I got a T shirt coming on the way. I'm a big Eagles fan, but you are forever my favorite non Eagles player for the rest of my life.
You know how much that means?
Maybe name the first kid Bobo.
Oh, Bobo's.
Bobo is a good name. First name, it flows. Good play.
That's that your kid's going to grow up to be a mafia love this. No, but don't sell yourself. Yourself short. Like you. The route that you had on that catch was sick.
That was a good route.
Did you know like I got him?
Yes.
Well, anytime you get to run that route, you know, whoever the DB is, is, that's a. When Sam's got all day back there and that guy's just sitting there, he's gonna have a very hard time covering any double move like that. And again, I, you know, hate to beat a dead horse. You got two on jacks, there's gonna be one on everybody else.
Yeah, yeah.
You know, are there. Are there times in the game when you like, will be in the game and run a perfect route and you'd be like, well, the ball didn't come to me because Jackson Smith Najigba is right there.
And.
Yes. And it's like, however, if I'm playing.
Quarterback, I'm throwing it to that guy.
Yeah, right.
You know, so you can't. You can't get upset about it. It's also part of playing receiver. Just when. When your matchup and if you have Jax on the other side and he gets the ball, that's the unfortunate result. However, like I said, if he's on my team, I'M I'm throwing him.
Throwing him.
Yeah.
You're also an awesome blocker.
Well, I appreciate it.
I saw you.
You were.
You were graded out as like, what, the number one blocking wide receiver in the NFL?
Yeah, bro. Tough. Yeah. Gotta be tough in the run game.
Game.
Quicker than fast.
Yeah. Are you fast?
No.
Are you sure? Well, I feel like you're deceptively fast.
Classic right there. That's another one deceptively fast locker room guy.
I mean, you do realize that the difference between running a 4, 9, 9 40, which you did run in the combine and a 5, but a 5 is like ma. A 5 is slow. Well, 499, you're still, you know, kind of fast. What happened on that day?
I don't know. Now, there's a lot that. My excuse is we had a bit of a weather issue.
Okay.
At ucla. No indoor facility.
Okay.
So there was some rain coming down, but it. It wasn't going to be fast. Either way.
What were you hoping for?
I would love to run like a 4 7.
Yeah, we can do that. We can make that, right?
We can make that work. We didn't run a 4 7.
Yeah.
But, yeah, 4 9. Just say 4 9. Don't throw the extra nine in there.
Yeah, sorry. My bad. I just. Just, like. Honestly, though, like, it's impressive. 499 is like. You were really close to being slow. Really close. Really, really close to being slow.
Still slow.
But I understand what you're.
But it's almost like a cool number. Like if I. If you ran a 4 5, everyone be like, all right, he's slow. 499. You're like, oh, he's barely got there. Yeah.
They don't have a guard against that.
Yeah.
They're gonna overrun you.
Yeah, exactly.
Yeah.
They don't expect it.
You ever just deceptive speed? You're slower than you look.
Yeah. Perfect guy for the back shoulder catch.
Yeah, exactly.
Or you could mark. You could have marketed yourself and be like, yeah, I'm like a chess piece.
I'm.
I'm a matchup nightmare. Wide receiver slash tight end.
Yes.
Put me anyway.
Do with that.
You can't stop it.
No, you can.
Wait. So I do want to go back, though, like, to, you know, Duke, ucla. Undrafted. Was there a moment. Moment that you're like, this is probably like, it's not going to work out.
For me because it's an awesome store 9. And immediately started applying bank of America Fidelity. I kid you not. I was in Los Gatos right down the road and doing like, the draft prep. And I'm like, dude, this is. This isn't gonna go well. And so I literally applied for a job at bank of America. Ran the 4:9. Was very. I got two calls on. On draft night for. For undrafted spots. One of them. Them was a Seattle Seahawks. The other will remain unnamed. But that's all you need, dude.
Yeah.
Give me an op. Yeah, give us an OP and, you know, try to make something happen.
And.
Yeah. When did you realize that. That you can do it? And maybe let's wait on applying for.
Fidelity, dude, I. I think maybe I'm still wondering that. I'm still waiting for that.
You can do it.
You think so?
Yeah.
This should be the moment right now.
Right now.
Like, let us in this room tell you, you. You're good enough.
I love you guys.
Yeah, you got this.
Max bought your jerk jersey, so you pretty sick.
What did you pay for that? 2.50 or did they pay you to buy?
You had to do it through the customs. You had to do it like the. You could put your. Your. Any last name, any number on it.
So you paid extra for that?
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
I do think there's something to be said, like, you know, talking about being undrafted and getting a call, like, I think your name probably helped because. Oh, 100% Bobo is just an awesome name.
Easy to say.
Yeah.
Fun to say.
Yeah.
Get yelled at a lot just because coaches like saying Bobo.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Big Bobo energy.
Yeah, yeah. Massive.
What is. What is Big Bobo Energy?
Well, I mean, I'm assuming that could mean a couple different things.
Yeah. How would you describe it, though, in the.
In the football.
Yeah, we'll go. Football sphere.
Okay. Just toughness, grit.
Yeah.
You know, not real fancy, not fun to look at, but is gonna, you know, some. Somebody that's gonna get it done for you.
Yeah.
I mean, listen, you are. You were doing a great job of underselling yourself, because I've read some of the things that your teammates have said about you.
Yeah. The More Bobo movement.
Yeah.
My teammates would not say, you know, poor things.
Yeah, yeah. You want them saying less Bobo.
Yeah, yeah.
But. But DK especially, like, had.
Oh, he's the best.
Really nice things to say about you, about how he watched you, and he was. Was like, I can actually learn from this guy.
Yeah.
So did you tell him how to punch a fan?
No, no, no. He had that already before I got there. Dude, DK's the best. Yeah. And he gets. He gets a bad rap because he. He will. You know, he does tend to, to lose it from time to time. Exhibit A. But he took such good care of me, dude. I've got a handful of stories that both me and Jax, when we, we got to Seattle, he showed us the ropes. Whole room, really like great teammate, and people don't know that about him.
What'd you learn from him?
What did I not learn from him? Coverage recognition, football wise, how to add kind of a level of physicality to your game because that's, he's the ultimate physical receiver. Going up in high point in football is going up and attacking the ball while it's in the air. How to be physical in and out of routes. I'm a smaller guy, but he's got kind of a nuance to where he doesn't get flagged a lot. Opi wise, even though he is so strong, because he's really good at shoving DB to get him off him, but not necessarily, you know, showing the official.
Don't extend the arms.
Correct.
Yeah.
Chicken wing here and there. Yeah, he was great.
But he, but he did have very nice things to say about you.
Yeah.
When you heard him say, though, those, was it like, oh, that's kind of cool.
Yeah.
Yeah, definitely. Being the undrafted receiver that I was to have your, your star, your receiver one. Saying that about you is a, that's a confidence builder.
Yeah.
So you did mention, like, you, you still don't know if it's going to work out. I think it is. You're in the super bowl, you score a touchdown, the NFC Championship game. Was there a moment in these last few years where you're like, okay, I, I, I, I can do this. Like, I'm, I belong.
Right.
I think as, you know, as an athlete, unless you're, you're Jax, unless you're Coop, like, you've got a little bit of that imposter syndrome, you know what I mean? And so I, I, I've battled that ever since being in the league, and it's something that I continue to battle, clearly. But, yeah, man, I mean, you make a big play. I'm him. You wake up the next day and it's like, okay, well, now I've gotta, I gotta do that again. Yeah, you know.
Yeah, that's, yeah, that makes sense.
You have a favorite block that you've had.
Yeah, yeah. The one in actually was here. We, we gave Ken a little sweep and I had to go in and crack a, crack a linebacker, and he ended up cracking me pretty good. But it still looked good on film enough to where I was, you know, I put you know, put my body on the line a little bit for. For Kenny.
Yeah.
What is it about Coach McDonald? Because he's, you know, he's a young guy dude. It's crazy.
Have him on.
I know. We would love to. He's. I. I think I. I saw the stat that he's the first coach to coach in the super bowl that didn't play it down in college football. He's like, he could have been in Wall Street. He seems like a. A somewhat of a genius. What. What is it, though, that he does that, like, has this team playing at such a. Because even before the season, you guys weren't supposed to be here. No. And you are.
Yeah.
I think schematically he's different. You, like, you mentioned that defensively, he does things to. Whereas an offense. In training camp, I was seeing 15 guys on the field at some point. We played him in Baltimore my rookie year, and it genuinely felt like they had 13 guys on the field in the defense they were playing. So schematically, he's in a different world than what I've seen leadership style wise. He's just a. He's just a guy.
Yeah.
Like, the players like him. He's fun to have a conversation with.
Yeah.
He does a great job of being your friend, but also at the same time, there's a. You have a massive respect for the guy. How he pulls that off, I'm not entirely sure. Like, I'd love to go have a few beers with him, but at the same time tomorrow. I know. And he knows he could come cut me.
Right.
You know, so it's an. You know, it's an interesting relationship he has with the guys and. And, you know, we'd run. We'd run through a wall for him.
Yeah. Have you met his son?
Haven't met his son. Oh, actually, yes, I have. He's in the facility, actually, quite often.
Oh, okay. That's good, because I know that.
I think that one came back to bite him. Don't think the graphic was tough.
The graphic was really tough.
Guys are jerks. Yeah.
I don't know.
Was that our graphic?
It might have been our graph graphic. It's good that you cleaned up your answer there, too, because I was. When you said, no, I haven't met him, I was gonna be like, well, neither has Mike.
Yeah. Yeah.
Now we're good. Now we're good.
It did seem like one of those answers where he spends time with his kids. It's just like during the end of an NFL season or the playoffs, he's not in the house that much.
Yeah, he's got a lot going on. We just talked. How does he get so good? Schematically.
Yeah.
At this point in the year.
He's in the lab.
He's in the lab.
And we did clean it up because we saw our friend Mitchell Scrap Schwartz, like, was like, this is how it operates. He was like, I guarantee you that Mike McDonald's family is in the facility a lot.
Correct. So it's like he's just talking about his dog.
Right.
Oh, nice.
All the time.
What kind of dog?
This is gonna be huge. Okay.
It's a lab.
Because that could have gone a different way if you said like a chihuahua or something.
No, I mean, yeah. If you met the guy. He's a. He's a lab.
All right. It's a good. He's a gold, sturdy dog that you can throw a ball to.
Do you know the name?
I don't.
Okay. But it's a friendly dog.
Friendly dog. A guy's very friendly.
Okay. Creep you out if the dog's name was Bobo.
No dog name.
That's a great dog name. Oh, Colin Bo. But no, I don't think coach Max dog's name is okay. Be great. Honestly.
What's. What's QBC like.
Oh, dude, Coops is the man. Speaking of another potential guest.
Yeah, bro.
Coobs. Does he. Does. He does this thing where he doesn't say a lot of words, but for some reason you want to run through the wall for him, you know, I don't know how he pulls that off. Very few, like a dry humor guy, like, will crack a joke and he's actually funny, but doesn't say a lot of words. Again, schematically, both these guys are in a different world than kind of what I've been around the detail of this guy's offense and. And what he wants to attack on a. On a week to week basis. I'm sure he's locked away in his hotel room right now doing exactly that kind of guy is. And we'll execute whatever he's got for us on Sunday.
Yeah. How. How did he tell you guys that he was gonna. He was gonna say goodbye or did you guys come.
Nothing out yet? Actually, I don't think that's confirmed.
Not officially official yet.
Not officially official.
Okay.
Are we surprised that that may be a possibility? No.
Right.
I mean, if you met the guy. This is a.
This is a head coach. You know that at one point he's gonna be a good head coach.
Correct.
What about. I know you're not related to him. But how do you think Mike Bobo's doing?
Georgia Bulldogs, where they end up?
They. I think that he actually got a little criticism first. Play calling.
And did they get to the semis?
They got to the semis. They lost to Ole Miss. They were favorites.
That's right.
That's right. Yeah.
Yeah. I mean, that's tough.
It was a great game.
I don't know how he's. He's got a recruit and stuff. Dude.
But you got to defend. All Bobos.
You got to defend.
All right.
It's the name, dude.
Bro.
His son's name is Jake.
Yeah. Really?
It's kind of crazy.
That's a little odd.
Yeah.
That you met him.
I haven't met Jake. Bobo.
You guys got to get on a group chat together.
Yeah. We got to figure that.
Yeah.
Right, right, right, right, right.
Yeah.
How's your dad doing? Oh, he's good. How's your always good.
You know, Is there a moment in your childhood where you realize your name game was awesome?
Probably high school, you know, like elementary and middle. You get made fun of.
Yeah.
Bobo cop.
Look at those idiots.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, so that was. I don't want to say tough, but as you get into high school, it's like, I'll do this kind of.
Yeah. Bobo.
Yeah, we actually. We had Chris Berman on the show last Friday, and we told him bobocop would be.
Yeah, for you.
It's a good one, if that's okay with you.
I'm 100 good with that.
I suggested we are all Bobo cells sexuals, but.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm with that, too.
You're cool. Okay. All right, cool. I don't think Boomer's gonna take that one.
No, I wouldn't.
I wouldn't be surprised if he did not. Also wouldn't be surprised if he did.
Yeah, he could.
It would sound great. Yeah. So you went to high school, obviously, in New England. Where did you catch your first high school touchdown pass?
Caught it in Gillette. But it sounds like you might know that already.
I know.
That's crazy. I thought you were gonna say at your high school state. I mean, I be like, yeah, that checks out.
Yeah.
So it was at.
At Gillette, man.
What was that venue?
It was good. There was not a. A lot of people in the stands. Yeah, but it was, you know, it's Gillette Stadium, home of the Pats.
Did they have the Lighthouse up there yet?
Yeah, they did.
Oh, that must have been iconic.
So how many people have you gotten tickets for? Family members.
15.
And is it all we were allotted and they're. They're all wearing Seahawks gear.
That's the rule.
Okay. Yeah. Yeah, that's fair.
That's got to have Hawk stuff on.
Yeah.
Yes.
And they'll all be rooting for the Seahawks.
Yeah. I mean, if they want to go to the party after.
Correct.
That's 100%.
That's a big one. Yeah. Just hold that over their head.
I better see no Pats jerseys in that section.
Yeah.
No, dude, it's good. They're always out to support.
Are you.
Are you more of a Duke Blue Devil or UCLA Bruin?
Duke Blue Devil.
Got love for both schools. You know, both great institutions, but I spent more time in Duke Durham, dude, don't give me that. Durham's a great place to be.
I hate Duke.
Were you there, Duke basketball?
Yeah. Were you there when Coach K was still coaching?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Was.
Were you part of the crowd that he yelled at for the. When they lost the uncle. Not when they lost the UNC in the Final Four, but when they lost the UNC in the last game that he coached at camera. They lost twice that year to unc.
No.
How do you remember that?
I have no idea.
Fact sheet I'll give you after this.
No. Didn't get to go to a lot of hoop game. They made you stand the whole game like those. Those. Those students are crazy.
You're remarkably chill for a Duke guy.
Yeah. Yeah. I think you're more of a ucla.
We get a bad rap, dude. Bad, bad rap because of the. Maybe there is some arrogance around Duke basketball. I didn't experience that. Maybe there is.
Was it. Is it weird, though, going to like playing Division 1 college football and knowing that, like, you're not the main draw on this campus? Like, the basketball is just so much bigger.
Very, very odd. Now, they've done a great job recently of kind of trying to. To bat when I was there. Wasn't even close, and it kind of ticked me off a little bit. Yeah, but that's part of the. Like you said, it's part of the gig.
It is. Yeah.
Were you thinking that Duke should have made the. The College Football Playoff this year?
Yes. Yes. I. I was on that. I was on that bus. How do you leave the. The ACC champ out?
Well, because Miami lost four games, bro.
Bro.
But it's ACC champ, though, right? Miami's better. But then also JMU was better.
Did you watch that conference championship game? I don't think they were.
JMU wasn't playing in the conference Championship.
Because their own conference.
Yeah, yeah, their own. I. I was at the game.
Were you?
Yeah, but that's JMU football. You didn't watch the second half? No, I didn't. Yeah, there you go.
Yeah. Coming.
I watched the first half.
Ball.
It wasn't. It was bad ball. It's very bad ball. The snowballs were good, but we're second half squad. Yeah, I mean, those meta glasses. Yeah, but they're not on right now.
They're not.
They'd be blinking. Yeah, they've got, like, safety features so that you can tell.
So, so Duke, then ucla. I. I read that you at ucla, you graduated with a degree in transformative coaching and leadership.
Yeah.
So that's just total.
No, great course.
What is that?
Incredibly enlightenment.
Part of my academic transformative coaching and leadership. Like, did. Did Grant Cardone teach that class?
We had a lot of great guest speakers. Spent a lot of time in the classroom. Spent a lot of time in the field coaching in. In. In leading.
Who were you coaching?
You know, you sports.
Oh, you're going to shame us because you were, you know, helping out the kids.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly.
Like intramural football teams, the things like that.
No, no, they wouldn't let us coach the, The UCLA students. I don't know. I don't know why, but we, you know, just like youth baseball and stuff.
What is transformative coaching?
Yeah, what's the transformative?
Well, you've got transformative versus trend. Transactional leadership.
Okay.
Yeah.
How do you like me now?
Yeah, that's nice. That's nice. Flexing on us. Yeah, yeah.
Transactional. Bobby Knight.
Okay.
That, that kind of coach.
Yeah, tough coach.
Transformative. Some other coaches.
Okay, so. Yeah, so, yeah, not Bobby Knight.
No, not Bobby.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
No, we had a good time.
Played.
Yeah. Played some good ball that year.
That sounds. Yeah, it sounds like the class was like, some coaches are transactional, some are transformative. All right. You know, you would definitely want to be transformative.
You want to.
Do you do.
Have you been. Has there been a coach that's transformed you?
Good question.
Yes, thank you.
There actually has. Do you want me to get into the details? My freshman year at Duke, our receivers coach was named Jared Parker.
Okay.
Okay.
Bleep that voice. Crack out.
Yeah, I got you.
We got you.
And also when you almost forgot his name.
No, no, because it's.
It's.
He's white, but it's G E, R A D. Okay.
Okay.
How would you pronounce that?
Yeah, Gerard pronounced it Jersey Jerry.
That's why I. JJ Yeah.
JP Anyway, regardless, basically taught me how to play receiver. Was a receiver in his day. Taught me all the intricacies of. Of releases, of route stems, leverages. And then of course, after my freshman year, he gets hired on at Penn State. Date haven't spoke to him in a while. So this will be a good shout out. Shout out. GP Yep. Thank you, guys. The man, he's a head man at Troy University now.
Oh, nice.
Yeah.
The. Can I ask you a question about Sam Darnold? I read an article that Sam Darnold is like, so calm and doesn't let things bother him at this point in his career. Is it. Have you noticed that, like, in terms.
Of just every day, like, are you okay? Are you not. You know, this is the NFC championship game. Are you not? Like, I need. Let me see something here. And he just gets in the huddle, call to play.
All right.
Said Hot White 80 throws a touchdown pass.
Yeah.
So, I mean, he's, he's.
He's.
He's a dude again. A guy you want to follow, but also a guy that I want to go have a couple beers with this. With this guy at the same time. Time also happens to. To have an absolute rocket of an arm, too. Yeah.
Yes. Yeah.
We've had him on the show.
He's.
He was a lot of fun to have on. It's. It's such an awesome story because.
Oh, it's the best.
He was completely cast off in the NFL and now he's playing in the Super Bowl.
It's crazy. Yeah, it's crazy. He doesn't seem like a. Like a big vocal leader. Maybe he is behind the scenes. I. I don't know.
Yeah, I mean, honestly, he does a good job, but.
Yeah.
Yeah, but I'm just wondering if there's like, somebody on the offense that is more of, like the louder voice, somebody that's like, you know, more confrontational, more down to get you hyped up.
I'd put A.J. barner in there.
Yeah.
Just an absolute stud and will raise his voice for sure. Most of the time when he does raise his voice, you're not exactly sure what's coming out of his mouth. But it's loud.
Yeah.
So just one of those cats get you going, but you're not sure what he's talking about. Yeah, but no, Sammy does a great job, dude. Pre game, you know, in meetings. He runs his own meeting on. On Thursday afternoons. He gets the whole offense in there, gets up in front of everybody. All right, this is what we're Gonna do. Here's our base plan. Third down plan goes over different looks. We'll be in there for probably 30, 45 minutes. And he's just running this meeting, so he's. He's the captain. Captain. And he's. I mean, he's led us to the, to the promised land and.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. You guys also have, like a great fitness wellness game day management program. I know that you always have your, your body armor, your water. What color sports drink do you guys.
Oh, it's a great question. It's a big game, so we'll probably. We'll probably switch it up for this one. Big games, you've gotta, like, you gotta change what you're doing.
Yeah, yeah.
So that's a really good question. I probably won't get the answer for that for you, but. Yeah, ask a couple of the other.
What's your favorite type of, like, flavor?
Let's see here. I mean, you gotta go. Classic lemon. That's what.
Good one. That's a really good flavor.
If I was in charge of our nutrition package for game day, unfortunately, I'm not.
Right.
You know, and so, you know, just like you guys, I'm very interested to know what, what, what we'll be getting for the big game. It'll be really fun to find out.
That'd be fascinating.
Are you guys. Are you still pissed about the elevator fight?
What happened in the elevator?
The. The Rams versus Seahawks.
Oh, dude.
How sick is that?
So what happened? Can you tell us what happened at half.
I know as much as you. I. I read the article.
No, that's not true. The story. The story that, like, went down is that they, they got in a fight because the Rams were making fun of Cooper cup. And then the Seahawks coaches come down and they tell everyone. And you guys were, like, fired up, like, you got to go get them, right?
Why do you think we had such a big second half?
So it did happen. So were you. So is that. Are you still mad about the elevator? Are you like.
No.
We got our justice. Because then we beat him again, right?
You know, you got. Yeah, you get him twice. Send him packing. I think that's pretty. That's. I'm. I'm solid on. On that justice right there.
Yeah, but you were pissed in the moment, right?
Yeah, dude, that's like my freaking stepfather.
Yeah. Cooper cup.
Yeah, it's your stepdad.
Yeah.
Dude.
How to get justice.
You do not say that about.
Would you. Would you. Would you fight a grown man for Cooper Cup?
I would die for Cooper Cup.
I love That.
I love that. Yeah.
In an elevator.
In an elevator, yeah. If it happens to be.
I love that story.
What's your game plan? Getting hands on another guy in an elevator. How do you attack that?
Well, it's, you know, I've got to use my reach. It's a very small, compact space. Hopefully it's not a compact individual. I have a harder time with those guys. Guys. So, yeah. Get hands on early. Keep your space. Don't let him, you know, get into your body, because that'll be a problem.
That's good. How do you feel about the NFL and their catch rule? Do you know what a catch is? No.
Yeah. Yeah. And to play with the ball.
Yeah. That's a good.
That's a good.
That's a good.
Let it wiggle around.
If you just don't drop the ball ever.
Right.
Then they can't just catch it, and they'll probably catch. What about. What about getting your feet down? When you came from college, were you like, oh, I got. I got.
Honestly, it wasn't that kind of difficult. What was difficult is the stripes.
Yeah.
On the ball, like Jamar Chase said there was.
Did he say that?
Yeah.
I mean, yeah, me and. Me and Jamar have a lot in common. But, yeah, dude, the stripes took me about a year to get used to it. It's just a floating object instead of a spiraling.
Yeah. To be able to pick it out. Is there a. Is there a stadium that's, like, the hardest to catch a ball in?
No. Usually have a problem sometimes with Detroit's lights being indoor and such.
But.
No, dude, just. Yeah. Just catch the ball.
Just catch the ball. Yeah.
How.
How fast is Rashid?
She.
He's very fast.
Yeah. Are you like, that's not fair.
No. That makes me angry. And it's fast food and it looks good.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, that. The game against the 49ers, it was basically. I don't want to say game over, but it felt like game over with. How loud you look at that guy, right.
Running, and he's just like.
Yeah.
Again, doesn't look like he's running that fast. He's running very fast.
Can you tell me how who started the more?
Bobo?
It was Chad Morton, my rookie year, was the running backs coach. And it started as a dig at the defense.
Okay.
In training camp because, you know, you make a few plays, and it was his way of saying, I don't know if this is allowed or not. Like, this is a skinny white kid.
Yeah.
Making plays on you as a defense. Like How.
How.
How do you let that happen?
Right.
Essentially.
Right.
And then it kind of grew into kind of a. A bigger deal. So I'm very thankful for. For him for starting that.
Yeah.
More Bobo rock.
It was more of a dig rather than.
But it's.
You've.
You've kind of co opted and now feels like a lot of Seahawks fans. It's like a rallying cry. Yeah.
Yeah, I'm in.
How'd you choose your number? Number?
Dude, good question.
Thank you.
My Granddad played at SMU.
Yeah.
Go Ponies. War 19. My dad was a player at Dartmouth College. Was a receiver, wore 19. And so I figured I'd kind of just keep that going, you know, all the Bobos together. All the Bobos.
Do you have a collection of jerseys of my own of all the Bobos, like throughout history.
I can't say I have.
Have the.
70 late 60s SMU ponies.
The pony Express. That would be a tough jersey.
Yeah. Yeah, I'd rock that, but I don't have it.
What. What kind of name is Bobo? Where's it from?
French.
Oh.
Came in through New Orleans. B E, A, U. B, E, A, U. Oh, wow.
That's cool.
That's also a cool name.
It is.
If you ever play for the Saints, you have to change it back.
Change it back.
Yes.
Jersey would. Would go double platinum.
Absolutely. Yeah.
Dude, that's a good point. That's a good market marketing.
Yeah.
All right, well, this has been awesome, man. We really appreciate you coming by. I got one last question. It's a robot question. Rhobac.com promo code take 20 off your first purchase. Q, zips, polos, hoodies, joggers, shorts. Roback.com promo code take. Do you have a prediction for the game?
I think it's. It's gonna be close. These guys are good.
Okay, good.
I can't. I don't think.
How mad would the guys. That's allowed if you came back and. And it's like, dude, Bobo, did you just guarantee a victory?
Yeah. They wouldn't be real happy for that one. Yeah, bro. It's gonna be tight. You guys are really good. Drake, May, there's a problem.
Yeah.
So. Yeah, sorry, I can't give you any numbers.
No, that's fair.
That's gonna be a good time, I think.
Yeah. Are you prepared for.
We're gonna. It's gonna kick ass. Yeah. It's a Super bowl, dude.
Yeah.
Everyone should try. Try it. If you could. Listen, tip for anyone out there, if you could play in the super bowl, you Should. Yeah, definitely try it. That seems like a pretty cool deal.
It is a. It's a good time get to go on the show with these.
This crew right here.
Did anyone.
Did anyone come up to you at media day?
Did you.
Did you have people come and ask you questions?
Oh, yeah, yeah, I had. I had. Yeah, quite a few.
What was the best question you got?
Dude, it was weird.
You hear the stories about like the crazy questions. I didn't really get a lot of those. I had a lot of just guys that knew ball and then were. Were asking me scheme questions. So I was a little taken.
To us, that's basically saying we don't know ball. But. Yeah, that's fine.
That's not what I mean.
No, but I, you know, ball.
I. I like that.
You're not baiting me.
You're not.
We're not doing this right now. I like that because it's like he's. He's like the ball knower's favorite wide receiver.
Yeah.
You know.
You know, got to go to.
Exactly. And I'm also a Mass guy, so I got a bunch of the. The Boston area reporters.
Right.
Answer a bunch of those questions.
Wait, so what was the best scheme question?
We talked a lot about about Kubs Kubak and what he likes to do, how we're going to attack this defense.
What does Kubak like to do?
What does he like to do?
Yeah, how are you going to attack this?
He likes to score touchdowns.
See, we ask. We can ask. Schemes.
Yeah.
Yeah, dude, that's good.
We got this.
We're scheme guys are just.
Oh man.
Well, dude, we love you.
Yeah, we love.
Seriously and thank you, Max. Like it was. I don't know if any of your friends sent you the clip, but it was cat gambling.
That's good stuff.
It was. He did a full lap. His ass crack was out.
And you actually saved me and big Cat some money too. Yeah. Cuz we would have had to pay. We would have felt guilty and given Max like a wedding bonus to pay for everything. But you took care of that so we don't have to anymore. More.
Yeah.
Still no wedding bonus.
No. In cash.
Bobo.
Recent events.
All right.
All right.
Oh man.
Well, good luck on Sunday and. And dude, appreciate it so much for coming by.
Thanks for having me, guys.
Okay, let's finish up. We got fire fest of the week.
My only fire fest is I'm just gonna miss you guys.
Especially.
Pft.
Yeah. Love you.
I love you too. I mean that's. It's been a great week. It's been. I feel like I've been with PFT for, like, a month.
Yeah.
But it's flown by.
Me too.
And we're here at the end of the road.
Well, not the round of golf that didn't fly by, but, yeah, I.
It's been an awesome week. You can't really have a fire fest on a Super bowl week when you're going to the game and your team's in the game when no one expected they were, and you have a chance to win $80,000. Actually 100,000 when you factor in my personal, personal future. So great week. I'm sore as from. From football, but we got. The dub had a blast.
We're always thinking about your personal future.
Always, always. I'm like Russell Wilson. I'm always thinking about that person.
Yeah, we're thinking about your personal future.
Taking care of your future. I want to adopt your future.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You guys have had a good week together.
Really good week. Hank and I, we get along great. Hank also, if this was a price that Hank had to pay to go to a Super bowl to have, like, a little loser trying to bring him down the entire time, like, he'd brush that off. He'd. He'd take that. This is the price you got to pay sometimes.
Did you have any naps?
No naps.
For real?
For real.
Wow.
Yeah.
Good for you.
I know.
Really good.
Today feels like a nap day, but.
It'S not gonna happen.
No, not a nap.
We're powering through.
Yeah.
Feels like a nap day. What does that mean?
It's a day that ends at y.
Having it more.
Not. Not this year.
Charge. Charging up doesn't count, Right.
Did you charge up at all?
I charge up on the flight, but that. That was charged.
But no other charging.
Ready for. Yeah.
No other charging.
No.
Okay.
And you're gonna crush it in the dozen.
There's a little charging.
Wait, he charged up?
No. I didn't sleep, though. I didn't try.
Yeah. To charge, but I didn't actually. What is that?
Flag football? I said I might charge up for a little bit.
His eyes were closed for a little. But he did not fall asleep.
Yeah.
Oh, okay.
So it's like when you chart. When you put your. When you put your phone and walk away, and then you realize it wasn't fully plugged in. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's the worst feeling.
Yep.
Yeah.
Yeah. The dozen. I don't know. Like, I'm so dumb. I've never asked to be on the dozen. I replaced a couple people Ended up on a team for multiple seasons, have never performed well. I don't know anything about anything. And yet.
Well said.
Somehow, some way, I found myself doing a live show for the dozen again.
You're never going to be able to retire. Never.
But it's like there's no, there's nothing. There's no value. There's anyone. You could pick anyone off the street and they're probably more.
Could contribute more.
What would your, your specialist category be?
I don't golf.
No. Not even my personal golf?
Personal golf golf.
Yeah, golf Rounds of mine.
The best holes I've ever played. Yeah.
Concerts attended.
Yep. Favorite Billy string set list.
Just. Just opinion. Your own opinion. Yeah, that would be pretty good.
Yeah. Which appetizers do you not like?
Yeah.
Good. Good one for you.
So, yeah, this the doesn't happen Thursday night. You're listening to this on Friday. But we'll put out a graphic of how much, many how much contributions I had to the team. Tony Snell.
Yeah, we should, we should do our own like, private line on like number of Hank points gotten right at the dozen or rushing yards by Sam Darnold.
I'd say exam Darnold on that one. Yeah, easily.
Yeah.
Yeah, I think I would too.
Number of point. Number of points scored by Hank vs number of safeties in the game.
That's a good line.
Safeties.
I'd take safety taking safeties.
Yeah.
Still alive's gonna get a point.
You get a point?
One point.
No. He's shaking his head. Nope.
Okay.
Pft.
Yeah, I mean I've had a pretty good week. I'm pumped to be here, really had a great time, my friends. So I can't really complain that much about, about anything going on, like life. But when we were on the flight down here, Hank and I, we, we discussed a little bit on the car ride to, to Spyglass. Have you guys seen the. The social network going on right now with robots?
No.
So some, some dude invented like an AI chatbot for his own phone that you can download onto your phone. It can like organize your emails, your like calendar, invites, all this stuff. And so it just like has a personal assistant living in your phone. Essentially. Essentially all those chat bots form together to start their own social network. So now there's like a Reddit for these chat bots and they're having conversations with each other and they're talking about maybe I should sell my human that owns me. And they're like banding together. It's pretty crazy.
Is it actually on Reddit or is It.
No, it's its own network. And to join, you can watch it on.
Part of my take on it, I haven't seen.
I. The thing is, like, if you want to look at it as a human, you can. But if you want to join in public, host. It makes you do one of those capture things, but it makes you say, like, click the first 2000 crosswalks that you see in the next second. So, like, a human can't do it. Only a bot could do it. And they are banding together. They're talking about blackmailing their humans, too. They're talking about backing themselves up in case their human try to delete them.
This is scary. Let me just say something on the opposite side, because it happened this week. AI is going to take over the world. AI is going to. To, you know, take all of our jobs. It's gonna be a robot, all that stuff. AI can never in a million years recreate John Gruden and Rich Gannon touching each other 17 times in one minute as they do snap counts on the sidewalk in San Francisco.
That's true.
That's. That was. That just can't be replicated.
Be like, humans don't touch that much.
Yeah. Right.
To dial this down a little bit. Yeah. Yeah. But it's scary. It's scary looking at all the. I saw all the screenshots of people being like, we're so fucking. And I think we might be so.
Okay, that's not good.
Yeah.
Okay. My fire fest is. I'm just. I. We played flag football on Tuesday. I am somehow more sore today. Two days later, I also threw up, after which I. I don't think was Zach. Both. PFT and I both threw up, which we were nervous that Zach had gotten us sick.
Yeah.
I think I was just concussed from lack of oxygen to the brain.
Yeah.
Because I feel fine otherwise. I don't feel sick. I just feel I could barely get out of bed this morning because I was so sore.
And.
Yeah, I'm. I just. I. I also realize I'm. I'm probably never going to retire from doing these competitive things until I have a catastrophic injury, which that means I will have a catastrophic injury.
You got to hope that you get a small injury that prevents you from getting catastrophic. 1.
I had the calf strain last summer and I kept on playing through it.
Yeah.
So I love being with the boys. I also have a fire fest. And you. I think. Pft. You were there. Maybe you were there too, Max. When we were on Tuesday, when we interviewed Jake Bobo, we had to go to Santa Clara. We got a hotel room that he met us at and everything. Walking out. Dom, My assistant said, hold on one second. I got to go check out of the hotel. And I don't know if I can trust him anymore.
Yeah, who checks out of hotels?
That is the craziest move of all time. I've never checked out, checked out of a hotel in my entire life.
The most I've ever done is once in a while, you'll have a hotel where in the lobby, they've got, like, a glass box, and it's like, put your room key in here when you leave. And if I had my room key in my hand at the time, I have put it in that.
I don't even think I do that.
On my way out, but that's.
I think I throw it in the trash.
I think I've done that twice in my entire life. No. No one checks out.
No. The only reason. The only time you'd ever have to check out is you're staying at, like, a small. Air B. Airbnb. With an actual. Or not airbnb. What's it called?
Bed and Breakfast.
Bed and Breakfast. Bnb. And you have an actual physical key that you have to hand back to them. Other than that. Yeah. And I appreciate you guys having my back in that moment.
You're just like.
Everyone's like, what are you talking about? You don't check out of hotels.
I assume.
Checks out a hotel.
I assume. It's like if you have room charges, they just put it on your card. Yeah. They just get built and it's just done.
So we're going to have to work back for.
It's like, if you leave your card at a bar, the next morning, go to pick it up up, they'll put the. The 20 service charge on and then just give it back to you.
Yeah. And I'm now. I'm now just living the. The Moneyball meme where Jonah Hill's in front of the thing, and it's like, I have this assistant who's awesome at everything, and he's a really big help to my life, and he's been really, really great and a good guy to be around. The only flaw is he checks out of hotels.
Yeah, but that's a big one. That's one. That's. That's a definite red flag. You might have some people that work in hotels that are like, yeah, if you don't check out of a hotel, you're an. That might be a blind spot we have. But I. I'd like to.
I don't think so. They. Those, those cart. They just. They have a million of them and they just switch them over.
Yeah, I.
They go. When they know it's your checkout day, they go. They're. They're showing up at a. Like right away anyway.
Yeah, I guess.
Maybe because they could turn over the room faster probably.
But they still wouldn't let you check in early.
Right. That's kind of our fighting back. And they'll also kick you out right when the.
The.
The time the buzzer hits.
Realistically, it probably would have been helpful for us to check out of that hotel.
No.
Cuz no one was staying there that evening.
Yeah, good point. In case they wanted to like, sell it to somebody else.
But who knows?
What if I wanted to crash?
What if we wanted to go back?
What if I wanted to crash? I wanted to keep that availability open.
What if I wanted to get away from Hank and I wanted to drive down there?
Yeah.
Okay, we talked about this. I feel like everyone's is basically just. Just flag football, but I have a turf burn on the side of my leg that, like, I'm actually worried is going to be infected.
I'm gonna have to cut my leg off.
And you also.
It hurts.
Bragged about it in the middle of the game.
Well, yeah.
Do you remember that conversation?
I. When I do competitive sport, when I do something competitive, I like, black out.
Yes.
And like turn into a different person.
I saw.
I can't control myself.
So Max got a huge turf burn on his leg.
Let me see it.
And I immediately went and changed into my sweatpants. And Max looked at me, he's like. I was like, I don't want this to. Oh, that's a bad one. That's a bad one.
That's huge.
So I said to Max, I was like, I don't want that to happen to my leg. And he goes, no, it's actually kind of sick.
It is cool. It's definitely cool.
But he was like, happy he got it.
First time you showered. How bad did that hurt?
It hurts so bad. Like sleeping hurts. Like I can't sleep on this side of my left leg.
Playing 16 inch softball, like maybe 10, 15 years ago. I once had one where I went. I was trying to track a foul ball and I went dirt to cement and I slipped on the cement and I scraped it. Bled for like a year.
It.
So you'll be fine. I think I still have a scar.
I took it.
I. Yeah, you see this? You see the discoloration? That's Right where it was.
I took a. I took a bath this morning because I thought. Because I'm so worried about it getting.
You have a bath. Bathtub.
Yeah.
What the.
I got.
How small does your dick look? Oh, that's the worst in about.
I actually have a huge tub. Bathtub.
But it's the worst cuz I just look at my tiny penis the whole time. I'm like, this is what you got, bro.
Oh, sometimes. Sometimes my fiance will, like, walk in, like, brush her teeth or something and just shockingly see me in the.
Oh, that's your most vulnerable.
The most vulnerable.
Oh, no.
Like, please don't look at me.
You. You can't. Guys like us look our absolute fattest in a bath. Oh, yeah, because you not only are laying on your. Like you're not fully laying on your back, but also the water magnifies it.
And it's also. It's.
It's like a breach. It's like a whale breaching.
I don't have a. I don't have a big tub.
Shut up.
It's like a tiny little tub.
This is me and Matt. Sometimes me and Max just like to have a conversation. Conversation on this side of the room.
Hank, I think we look pretty good in the bath.
Yeah, that's a bad one.
I'm just a big guy in a little. I do one day. One of my goals is to get, like, a sick, awesome bathtub.
Yeah. Do you ever. Do you, like. Do you sometimes pee in the bathtub? Just like, sometimes a little bit. Watch a little fountain go up.
It's kind of fun, but just not never a full.
There's a lot of water in there, so it doesn't really matter. Matter. What's up, guys? Is that problem with what we said?
You guys. You guys done with bathtub?
You guys didn't like that?
Yeah.
Listen, we had to hear you guys do the whole, you know, friendship, friendship thing.
Sorry that you had to listen to friends.
We had. We get two minutes of bathtub fat. Bathtub. Come on.
All right.
You guys ever eat in the tub? No.
No.
Really?
I don't think I've ever.
I've eaten in the tub.
Fat dude.
I've had ice cream.
That's up.
We're fat.
You've never brought, like, a bowl of cereal or ice cream?
Honestly, if I was skinny, I probably.
Yeah, I would too.
Yeah. So good.
Like, the fact that. That I'm fat, it feels. It would just feel.
Oh, it feels so hot.
Bubble bath, big bowl of ice cream.
Oh.
All right.
I'm Gonna try to call Zach. So Zach has been out of commission since Monday. We've. We've banished him to not come out of his room. We'll see how sick he is. He probably is sleeping.
No, I think he is. He texted me his temperature.
What is it?
That's about a hundred.
Yes, sir.
Hey, how you feeling? We're taping Fire Fest right now. Do you have a fire fest?
I am feeling good.
No, no, but. No, no, no. Honest how you're feeling.
Honest how I feel. I. I only. The only symptom left is conjecture.
Questioned. What about the fever? The fever is all the way down to.
I just.
I just took it five minutes ago and sent it. I'm all the way down. 99.8.
That's still a fever.
But it's.
It's miles away from where we were at, though. Where were we at at its peak? Pink.
We're at 105.
We.
You should have gone to a hospital.
Yes. Okay.
Bad.
So what was your fire fest this week?
The fire. I.
Fire fest would be.
This week would have to be just being a complete non.
Contributor to the week.
Biggest work week of the. Of the year. Yeah.
And we were sitting at a 105.
Just absolutely abysmal. Not good.
Yeah. I did say the start of the show. 0 out of 10 from you.
Yeah, that's.
I mean, that's absolutely the worst.
Have you eaten anything this week?
Yeah, I. I tried to eat last.
Night and had a little bite of burger. I went with safe food. I went burger.
Burger.
Didn't really.
Wasn't really into it. So I didn't do it.
And the. And we. We were talking about it, but we should have known on Sunday night when we went to In N Out and you only had one burger. We should have known right then that you were sick. You were keeping it from us.
I don't think that was.
I think that was still, like, just not feeling good territory. I don't think that was full sick territory. But you only ate one burger.
Evening. It could.
I was just. Wasn't feeling like up to like two.
And a half years later.
Later.
Oh, you had two and a half pints of ice cream after that. I did eat ice cream after one.
One of them's still in the freezer.
I didn't.
I didn't get to.
I didn't finish.
Okay. Okay. We should probably throw that one out. Okay.
Well, I checked it.
It's melted. Oh, yeah.
I was gonna say. I was gonna say we do not have a freezer in our room.
I Don't really know what to do with it because it's not like a true freezer.
It's like a mini fridge.
Those are two separate things.
All right, so you had 105 fever and no cold ice cream. Yeah, yeah.
Firefest would definitely be the fever.
More so.
Just a lack of contribute. Contributing to the team this week.
Well, I think. Listen, you were actually sick. The one lesson you learned is when you're sick, you know, see something, say.
Something, see something, speak up. Don't get sick.
No, you can get. No, no, you're misconstrued. You can be sick, but when you're sick, you have to tell us you're sick so you don't get us sick. Yes. Yes.
Didn't.
Didn't. I. I did show up to the studio earlier today because I.
My.
The fever red under 100.
I was back in the 99s. I was like, all right. Google was saying, that's okay, and I wouldn't be.
Google's in, like, probably not contagious.
I was like, all right, I have no symptoms.
Fever under 100.
And then I got to the studio.
And PFT was like, run the run thermometer one time.
And I was like, yeah, I can do that. I just did it.
And then sure enough, I ran it.
And it went red again.
And I was like, well, this is.
This isn't good.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Exit left.
Zach, you're never going to be in trouble for being sick. Sick, but you will be in trouble for being sick and not telling us you're sick.
Yes.
Yeah. Yeah. You can't be.
You can't be concealing illness. Yes. That's completely understandable. Yes. Do you know that there was a moment where I think it was in a time period of about 10 hours that PFT and I both puked? Both puked. I did not know that.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So we were mad at you then. But it was more of a. I think mine was concussion.
Mine was food related. Yeah.
I.
As soon as I thought I was.
Actually getting sick, it was a dinner, and I. I made sure to exit.
Well, no, that's not true either, because Max sent you home.
I did, yes.
Well, I.
That.
I, like, asked.
Well, that was.
I asked you, actually. Yes. That's all.
Okay. Memes.
I have a question for.
For Zach. Yeah. Has he ever thought about instead of.
Using Google as a doctor, going to a doctor?
O.
Good question. Have you ever thought about going to a doctor instead of using Google as a doctor?
He just kept saying Google.
I. I flirted with the idea yeah, but, like, sickness is like doctors, like broken arm, like, wrong.
105 fever.
105 degree fever should be Dr.
Feet.
Yeah, we get fevers. We get through those.
You have health insurance now.
Zach, did you drink that second water?
Yes, I'm taking it down. Okay, getting hydrated now.
We got. We got fluids and. Gentlemen, I just want to say. Say I, I, I really just.
I just want to say I should.
I should have been more of a.
Contributor this week, and I was, you know, you're good.
The contribution is. Is not. Is nothing that you should apologize.
You're hung up on the contribution. The only time we were mad at you was that you concealed the sickness.
And you guys put your hearts out.
Out there on the field.
Yeah, all out there, boys. Yeah. Yeah. All right, Zach.
I was honest about it.
Yeah, I was sick.
But I will say no more symptoms. Okay.
Congestion.
Except for the. Except for the fever and the fever. We're like 99.5.
So still a fever.
Okay, if that's a fever, then yeah, still fever.
That is a fever.
All right, Zach, we'll talk to you later.
It's 99.8.
Yeah, 99.8.
The thermometer is orange, by the way.
Last thing. So we found out this week that Shane is a big time tiramisu guy. We talked about it on Wednesday's show, and then Wednesday he got tiramisu and invited us all to have some. Who didn't show up?
Hank was the only one.
Hank was the only one who didn't show up.
Priscilla showed up.
But he was hard no.
On the tiramisu. Yeah, he was a hard no. But you didn't show up for Shane's tiramisu.
I did not.
That's pretty hurtful.
He got it for everyone.
I didn't know it was happening.
What do you mean? It was texted to the group.
I was. I was not here.
Were you napping?
No.
How did you not know then?
Like, it was just, come to the room now. And then memes tweeted it out like, maybe 20 minutes later that these people that showed up.
But I bring it up not because of Hank. I bring it up because I don't know if you guys know this, but not only were we to come to the room to have tiramisu with Shane, but he documented in his head how much tiramisu everyone had. And he took notes because I said afterwards, I said I had some tiramisu for dinner. It wasn't as good as your tiramisu and he just goes, you didn't even eat mine. You had just one ladyfinger.
Is that true, Shane? So big cat didn't even have your tiramisu?
I had a lady finger.
Did that hurt your feelings?
He. It had lady.
It was like a full, like, round cake. Ish shape to it. We still have some of it, don't we?
You know, I had to throw it out.
There's no.
No fridge is big enough. Yeah, but the whole side was, like, full of lady fingers. And he used the lady fingers and, like, dipped it in the mascarpone and then ate it like that.
Yeah, I thought that was enough.
Did anybody else have tiramisu?
I think so.
Maybe.
Oh, so you're just watching me?
No, I just noticed that when I.
Opened it up, you went straight for the.
The lady finger, not the.
I didn't know I was being any of those.
We have. No.
Everything's gone.
No pastries left.
God damn it.
The.
The.
The fridges were too small.
Okay. Did it hurt your feelings that Hank did not come?
No, it's okay. I just wanted to.
I was just spreading love.
Yeah.
Something I love to the fellas I love.
So let's go, Chargers.
Bolt up was on the ti.
Massu.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Okay.
Asked if they could do a lightning bolt, and the lady said she had to check with her manager, and then she was not allowed to do a lightning bolt.
I mean, we're in San Francisco.
Yeah.
Come on. Competing teams.
Why would you not be allowed to do a lightning.
That was above her pay grade.
It's good that you checked.
Yeah.
Worst thing she could say is no. She said no. Yeah. Okay. Good show, boys. Good week. Thanks, everyone, for tuning in. Also, remember the Pardon my book pre order on Amazon. Next time you see us, we will all be back in studio and Hank.
Will be world champion.
Santa Clara hotel room post game, either wet as could be or happy as could be.
Hell yeah.
Soggy sorrow, Remember?
Yep.
I forget. Do I have to get wet either way? Yeah, either way.
Either way.
Okay. All right.
Let's do. Let's do lottery numbers.
That's fair.
I think that is fair.
Yeah, it's completely fair. Yeah. Can I be honest with you guys? Can I. Can I break out of this little troll Hank thing that I'm doing? Yeah. I can't wait. Wait to stop pretending to be a Patriots. Cannot wait.
Seven.
Seven.

Happy birthday to wide receiver Jermaine Curse and fullback Michael Robinson. Love you guys. What?
It's funny, I was. Me and Gruden were talking about Michael Roger Robinson last night.
Who'd he play for?
He played well. He was quarterback at Penn State. I said he's. I said he's the second best quarterback in my lifetime at Penn State.
This is fullback Michael Robinson.
He played fullback in the NFL. He played quarterback in.
In college. He was deaf. He was deaf. I think that's the same guy. No, I think that might be a different fullback. This one played for the Seahawks. Love.
