We have a big update right now. Donald Trump just finished speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. I watched the entire speech so that you don't have to. We're going to talk about it today because right now, a lot of world leaders are essentially laughing at the United States of America following this speech. The speech was to a room full of business leaders, investors, world leaders, and more. And this is a conference meant to collaborate, especially among European allies, and historically the United States of America, to find ways of economic cooperation. Well, the President's speech, however, really didn't hit those tones. Instead, hit tones, including attacking Europe, once again, trying to claim territorial ownership of Greenland, attacking Europe over windmills. I mean, a lot of it was Donald Trump's so-called best hits that he repeats and recycles in multiple rallies and press conferences. But there were some parts That we're new, that you need to know about. And it all comes as Europe continues to push away from the United States of America. And we're going to talk about that shortly as well. So make sure to like, comment, share, and subscribe. And let's just jump right into it. So Donald Trump began his speech in Davos by talking about Europe, and specifically talking about how he believes that Europe is essentially a terrible place to be. I want you to take a listen.
Certain places in Europe are not even recognizable, frankly, anymore. They're not recognizable. And we can argue about it, but there's no argument. Friends come back from different places. I don't want to insult anybody, and say, I don't recognize it. And that's not in a positive way. That's in a very negative way. And I love Europe, and I want to see Europe go good, but it's not heading in the right direction.
So speaking in Switzerland, he says that he wants Europe to go Well, good, but it's essentially not heading in the right direction. Now, in the audience are several European leaders. And over the past 24 to 36 hours, several of those leaders, including Prime Minister Mark Carny from Canada, not a European country, but Canada is in Davos, along with President Emmanuel Macron from France and others, have lambasted the United States of America for essentially withdrawing from the US-Europe alliances that we've seen historically. Got to a point today where Treasury Secretary Scott Besson actually said, quote, Denmark is irrelevant as it relates to Greenland negotiations, and instead said, the world should follow President Trump's lead on the issue, but Europe isn't backing down. French President Emmanuel Macron immediately called for NATO military exercises in Greenland. And while he says that he would deploy French troops as part of these exercises. But the President today did speak about Greenland extensively during this speech. The only problem was he actually confused Greenland with Iceland. Take a listen.
Europe, I'm helping NATO. And until the last few days, when I told them about Iceland, they loved me. They called me Daddy, right? The last time. Very smart man said, he's our Daddy. He's running it. I was like running it. I went from running it to being a terrible human being.
Now, in this part of the speech, he's talking about when Mark Root, the NATO Secretary General, called him, quote, Daddy, which is true. He did call Trump Daddy the last time they had actually following their last meeting. But he is essentially saying, You know what? Europe was kind to me until I started pushing for Greenland. He says, Iceland, Greenland. Here we are. He continued to confuse Iceland and Greenland. Take a listen.
They'd be there for us. They're not there for us on Iceland, that I can tell you. Our stock market took the first dip yesterday because of Iceland. So Iceland's already cost us a lot of money. But that dip is peanuts compared to what it's gone up.
And we- He said, once again, confusing Greenland with Iceland. Now, I will say something significant here. And I want to literally, as I'm making this video, and this was announced via a tweet on Twitter. We're going to talk about it momentarily. But essentially, a member of the European Parliament just tweeted out, literally seconds ago, you're getting it first. Let me pull it up for you right now, that essentially all work towards a EU US Trade deal is now on ICE indefinitely. We have just decided to suspend work on the legal implementation of the Turnbury deal. Our sovereignty and territorial integrity are at stake. Business as usual, impossible. So it's official. The European Parliament is a formally halting work on the implementation of the trade deal that was released, reached by Donald Trump. This is a significant development, and it's the first step of Europe retaliating against the United States of America. Let's continue to listen to what the President had to say in Davos.
Europe, I'm helping NATO. And until the last few days, when I told them about Iceland, they loved me. They called me Daddy, right? The last time. They So many years, we've never gotten anything except we pay for NATO. And we paid for many years until I came along. We paid for, in my opinion, 100 % of NATO because they weren't paying their bills. And all we're asking for is to get Greenland including right title and ownership because you need the ownership to defend it. You can't defend it on a lease. Number one, legally, it's not defensible that way, totally. Number two, psychologically, who the hell wants to defend a license agreement or a lease?
So he's saying because the United States has subsidized NATO for a long time, which he's right on that, we have paid a significant amount of our GDP to NATO. A large amount of our military budget has gone to NATO, billions and billions of dollars throughout the year, that because that happened, we are now entitled to Greenland. But that's not how this works. Greenland is a part of Denmark, whether or not he wants to admit it. Now, in this speech, he did talk about how he does not want to take Greenland by force, how he won't be invading Greenland, that he called for the beginnings of a negotiation to be started. And so that's where we're at regarding his speech. There were other parts of the speech, including him talking about fake elections and how he inherited a mess in Ukraine, talked a bit about Venezuela and how major oil companies were cooperating He attacked Europe's energy policies, saying that windmills were economically harmful, environmentally damaging, and accusing China of production. And he promoted his Golden Dome missile system, saying that it would also protect Canada, but said that Canada benefits exclusively and accessibly from US protection and essentially reiterating rhetoric suggesting that Canada should even be more grateful or even be part of the United States of America.
I've been saying this for a long time. Will be defined by US-Europe relations. It really will, because for the majority of this year, we're going to see what the future of these relations are. Historically, the United States and Europe have been closely aligned, especially in the post-World War II world era. But now, that's shifting. And that shift can open the door for more extensive collaboration between Europe and places like China and Russia, potentially. Maybe not Russia, but more China. But also it could isolate the United States on the world stage in ways we've never seen in our lifetime. So make sure to like, comment, share, and subscribe. Spread the word, and I'll have another update for you very soon.
