00:00:17

www.rosarium.de You are listening to the Dan Lebatard Show in partnership with the DraftKings Sports App. Now live in all 50 states.

00:00:32

Oh, stub my toe just like, like a minute ago. It hurts so bad. Such a bad way to start the morning. What is that, right?

00:00:42

You're not wearing shoes?

00:00:43

I am wearing shoes. You could stub your toe still while you're wearing shoes.

00:00:46

It was the first thought I had as well, same as Mike, because—

00:00:49

all right, well, now you know.

00:00:50

The way you're complaining about it gives off—

00:00:52

he took barefoot stub in the office.

00:00:54

There's a big difference between barefoot stub and shoe-on stub.

00:00:57

My pants are also off. No one can tell.

00:01:00

Also, how long are those toenails of yours? 'Cause I think that might be the problem.

00:01:04

Okay, that's a good question. I always keep my toe and fingernails very short. You could see my fingernails.

00:01:12

You a biter?

00:01:12

Can't— no.

00:01:14

Do you get ingrown?

00:01:15

No, I've never ever bitten my nails. I think it's disgusting.

00:01:18

Ingrown toenails is a warning sign for heart disease.

00:01:20

But you could see, you could see in my fingernails, I always keep them very, very short. Never ever ever bite them, but I clip them often.

00:01:28

You got bad nails.

00:01:29

Bad toenails, you're saying?

00:01:30

No, no, the beds.

00:01:31

They just zoomed in on the fingers.

00:01:33

Yeah, you got bad nail beds.

00:01:34

Let's see it again.

00:01:35

What is a nail bed? I don't even know what that means. What's a nail bed?

00:01:38

Your nails.

00:01:39

You're the rare non-biter that looks like a biter.

00:01:42

Yeah.

00:01:42

Those things look like you're biting.

00:01:44

Tiny nail beds.

00:01:45

Yep, they're tiny.

00:01:46

Gotta push those cuticles back.

00:01:48

No, I don't—

00:01:49

Those are too short.

00:01:50

I don't like when they grow. It makes me feel weird. I don't know, I have like a sensory issue, I guess. I don't like it.

00:01:56

It's called, uh, neurodivergence.

00:01:58

Ugh, no, I am what I am. Yo, stop trying to force Weezer on me.

00:02:03

I'm not trying to force Weezer on you. You have a mental illness. Yeah, it's because you like this relationship with Weezer. You like what they represent. You're, you're, uh, like a good old days guy. You like to say that things aren't as good now as they used to be.

00:02:19

But what about if they're not?

00:02:20

Look, those are two classic albums. For who? If I were— if I were ranking the two best Weezer albums, I'd rank them Blue Album, Pinkerton.

00:02:28

Right, me too.

00:02:29

And depending on your mood, they can alternate.

00:02:31

Right, me too.

00:02:32

But you just gave up trying because you like what it represents.

00:02:37

Yeah.

00:02:37

You like saying that Weezer isn't as good as they used to be more than you actually like—

00:02:42

So I like telling the truth.

00:02:43

No, no, you like saying that they're not as good as they used to be more than you actually like those two albums.

00:02:49

How many albums does Weezer have?

00:02:51

Let's see, 47 albums. I mean, it's a lot of albums. An ungodly amount of albums and EPs, and some of them are covers. Yeah, they've released a lot of music. Is their batting average great? No, absolutely not.

00:03:04

Joey Gallo.

00:03:05

But are there great moments in the last 25 years? Absolutely.

00:03:10

Wow, so, I mean, I stopped keeping track.

00:03:13

I know you did, and that's the issue. So when the Green Album came out, you were like, "I'm not gonna give this a try." The Green Album's got a couple good songs.

00:03:20

"Hash Pipe's" a good song. The first track on the album's a good song.

00:03:24

"Crab"?

00:03:25

"Photograph"— no, that song's not good. "Photograph's" okay.

00:03:27

"Don't Let Go"?

00:03:28

I know— that song's good, yep, that song's good.

00:03:30

"Island in the Sun"?

00:03:31

Nah.

00:03:32

Oh, "Island in the Sun's" a great song.

00:03:34

No, it's not.

00:03:34

It's a very pleasant song.

00:03:36

Yeah, it's—

00:03:36

very commercial and pleasant, and I'm embarrassed for you. As someone who knows music, I'm embarrassed for you that you like that song.

00:03:43

You don't know music.

00:03:43

Do you know Pork and Beans? Do you know Burnt Show?

00:03:46

No.

00:03:46

Do you know Keep Fishin'?

00:03:47

No—

00:03:48

yes.

00:03:48

All right. Is that the one with the Muppets?

00:03:50

I don't know.

00:03:50

It's the one with the Muppets!

00:03:51

I don't know, Juju, I don't know, I was lying, I don't know.

00:03:54

I mean, but the thing is, like, Weezer caters to people that are like you, that don't want to admit that they just don't want to try new Weezer. They don't have the bandwidth. I don't want to know about teal albums, I don't want to know about red albums.

00:04:04

So there's a blue, there's a green, there's a red, there's a teal, there's a white.

00:04:06

There's a white.

00:04:09

When are they gonna run out of colors?

00:04:10

Most people would say all their albums.

00:04:11

And now there's a gold.

00:04:12

Yeah, the gold album, in which once again, like they do every 8 years or so, is they make a '90s-ass album for people like Zazz who won't even care enough to try it out.

00:04:23

Cool.

00:04:24

This song has a couple of albums. Look at— wow, look at that. That— was that a screen grab of all their albums?

00:04:30

That's crazy.

00:04:30

That, that is— I'm gonna go ahead and say it.

00:04:32

How is that all their albums?

00:04:34

That's—

00:04:34

no, that's— some of that is fake.

00:04:36

I mean, well, that one right there's Pablo Honey by Radiohead.

00:04:39

Yeah, they did not come out with Pablo Honey, but there's a lot. Like, Hurley's there twice.

00:04:44

That's— that's Wheezy.

00:04:46

Yeah, that's not— they did come out with the same album, that Gratitude. I'm pretty sure that they had a song with Lil Wayne, Can't Stop Partying.

00:04:53

That's actually not Pablo Honey by Radiohead, but it looks like it.

00:04:56

That's— I think that's more C-Playground, but just Try 'em out. Give it a spin. Give the Gold Album a whirl.

00:05:03

Okay, you know what, I will. I will listen to it.

00:05:05

I feel like maybe it's the sign of getting old, and I don't know if you guys feel this way, but I am to the point where I just wanna listen to songs that I already know. I don't wanna listen to new music.

00:05:18

I'm totally with you.

00:05:19

I know you're totally with her, but she at least has the guts to admit it. Where you just wanna go ahead and just say that Weezer sucks. I just admit it! Weezer doesn't suck. Weezer is a hugely inspirational band.

00:05:30

My entire life is about admitting that. I went out for the first time in forever this weekend, and why did I go out? To go see a Pearl Jam tribute band. So yes, I like the songs that I like, and I want new music.

00:05:42

All right, there you go. Doesn't it feel good?

00:05:45

This is not a secret.

00:05:46

But the thing is, Weezer puts out albums for you. They cater to you.

00:05:50

He doesn't know those songs.

00:05:52

You know, and you don't like— they meet you halfway.

00:05:54

It's hard to learn new songs.

00:05:56

It is actually, you know, it is not hard to learn new songs.

00:06:01

You're missing out. There's a lot of great new music.

00:06:03

I've never been sitting around like, man, I wish I had more songs to listen to. I got a lot of songs.

00:06:09

You have enough songs?

00:06:10

Yeah, I do.

00:06:11

You have enough?

00:06:11

I have enough songs too.

00:06:13

I have enough songs. I'm never going to run out of songs that I like.

00:06:16

Fontaine Cici is doing some special stuff.

00:06:18

And when I get to the end of the songs that I like, which took a really long time to run through, I'll rewind and I'll listen to them again.

00:06:26

So Pearl Jam releases a new album, you're listening to it.

00:06:29

Oh yeah, it's gonna be good. Yeah, yeah, it's gonna be really good.

00:06:32

Oh, you can't, nope. See, that flies in the face of everything you just said was your ethos.

00:06:36

Oh no, but I want new music from my, from the band I love. The band I've loved for 30+ years.

00:06:42

Wait, you didn't love Pinkerton and the Blue Album?

00:06:45

Yeah, but I've given those new albums a try and they're not great.

00:06:47

You haven't given those new albums a try.

00:06:48

I did.

00:06:50

What's your favorite track off of the Red Album?

00:06:52

No, no, I don't need to keep listening because once they release an album that I didn't like, it's like, "Yeah, I don't like it." But you said that you liked the Green Album. It's okay. I said it's okay.

00:07:01

So it wasn't good enough for you to be like, the next album following that, which is—

00:07:03

Well, I must have listened to some of it. Maladroit. I must have— yeah, Maladroit's not a good album.

00:07:07

Not good. Okay, I'll give you that. It has a couple of good songs.

00:07:09

And now I'm done.

00:07:10

You're just done?

00:07:11

Yeah.

00:07:12

You don't know about Burnt Jam.

00:07:13

You're telling me if a band, if a group, if a rapper releases an album, you like their albums, and then they release an album that you think stinks, you're gonna keep listening to new albums they come out with? Yeah.

00:07:27

Yeah.

00:07:27

Like you give them another chance.

00:07:28

They get two.

00:07:29

They get two.

00:07:30

Well, one time, so I'm gonna say something for hip-hop fans that's probably pretty controversial, and I can't wait to hear Juju's take. To Pimp a Butterfly, which was very experimental.

00:07:39

I love that album.

00:07:40

I hated it.

00:07:40

But I'm a white.

00:07:41

Yeah, and so I was like, okay, I think, but I can't be done on Kendrick. Right? Like, then he comes out with DNA and it's like, I'm back on.

00:07:49

Okay, so you give it, you give it, you give him a mulligan.

00:07:51

Yeah, I give him one mulligan and then we'll see if we get back on track.

00:07:54

To Pimp a Butterfly was so ambitious.

00:07:56

It was so ambitious.

00:07:57

The layers of jazz were just next level.

00:07:59

I was like, okay, I'm outta here.

00:08:01

But if there were two in a row, you would then bail?

00:08:03

Yes.

00:08:03

I might bail.

00:08:04

That's what happened with me and Chameleonare. I was a card-carrying member of the Chameleonare gang.

00:08:08

They see me rollin', they hatin'.

00:08:10

I like that he didn't curse. Like Will Smith, but with more bona fides.

00:08:14

All right. I think we should just all compose a listening list and just add Zazz to it. Like everybody in Metal Ark, what are songs that Zazz needs to listen to? I first nominate Chef Boy Gang Gang.

00:08:27

It's not a bad idea.

00:08:27

Yeah, I love this idea. We'll, we'll put together, we'll curate a playlist separately. I'll also put up like a 21st century Weezer playlist of like, here's what you missed.

00:08:36

Okay, Choo Choo, put it on the poll.

00:08:38

You missed Chameleon Air.

00:08:39

Put on the poll, do you need new music? So Juju is here, Trista is here.

00:08:45

I love this community playlist for Zazz.

00:08:48

Yeah, I'll do that, I'll do that. Juju got here yesterday, hanging out with us the entire week. Trista got here today.

00:08:53

Actually yesterday, but the red-eye got me here too late to do the show.

00:08:58

Oh, is that right?

00:08:59

Yeah, I got here at like 10:05.

00:09:00

All right, all right.

00:09:02

So technically come in, but you know, you're a Spotify guy, right?

00:09:05

I'm on Spotify.

00:09:06

Yeah, I can—

00:09:07

with ads?

00:09:08

No, but I will give an update here because everybody knows I had the Spotify account. I think this happened last year. I told the story last year when I started coming in and it got hijacked by my son. And that, of course, was the origin of him calling me sugar tits.

00:09:22

Yeah.

00:09:23

Who's Blueface?

00:09:24

Because I'm listening to Spotify, Trista, Juju. I'm listening to Spotify on my way down here. You know, it's like an hour drive. From where we live. My son, though, is on his way. He's driving to school, and he has like a 5-minute drive to school. And in the middle of my ride, I'm listening to whatever I'm listening to, and rap music just comes on. I'm like, what the hell? And so I change it back to what I'm listening to, because I would never put on rap music. And I change it back to what I'm listening to.

00:09:55

You kind of suck.

00:09:56

And then the rap music comes back on. I'm like, what is going on?

00:10:00

What in tarnation?

00:10:01

And then I realize, oh shit. My son is— it's the—

00:10:05

who's NBA YoungBoy?

00:10:06

My son is changing. He keeps putting on what he wants, and because we're sharing an account, I didn't realize that if you share an account that— like, like, I have DirecTV Stream in my house. If I'm watching DirecTV Stream in the Zaslow Mansion family room and then my son puts it on in the game room, it doesn't change the channel for what I'm listening— what I'm watching. We both get to use it, but Spotify doesn't work like that.

00:10:29

That.

00:10:30

So he changes the channel, and I said, stop changing the channel. And he said, this is my Spotify now, sugar tits. And that's how it went down. Yeah, but now I have my own.

00:10:41

Is that also what your wife calls you?

00:10:43

No, no, we have different names for each other. We can get into that another time.

00:10:47

So just not late for supper. Don't ever do that.

00:10:50

So the Marlins fired their entire scouting department yesterday. What is that about?

00:10:55

I'll grab them.

00:10:57

What's that about? So they fired their entire scouting department, and apparently it's because they, uh, they discovered video. They discovered that instead of actually going to games and watching the players, you, you just like watch it on video.

00:11:15

I'm imagining they saw the way Red Zone— I mean, the way NFL has replay set up now. They used to send a guy to every game, but now it's just like, we're gonna have one guy in New York and he's gonna be looking at TVs watching all the minor league games around scouting multiple players at at once. It's an odd one. I don't really know the details that goes into scouting, but it just seems odd to go video.

00:11:35

00:11:51

www.rosarium.de Dan Levatar, the first Jeremy Tatché YN's. Uh-oh, this is the Dan Levatar Show.

00:12:06

All right, Mike Ryan grabbed Jeremy out of the closet.

00:12:09

There he is.

00:12:10

And there he is. We're letting him out for a few minutes.

00:12:13

He was in the closet looking at pictures of himself.

00:12:15

That's true.

00:12:15

Shit you not.

00:12:16

We're letting him out for a few minutes to tell us why the Marlins fired their scouting department yesterday.

00:12:22

A lot of teams do this that go more analytics-based. Uh, the Brewers and the Guardians are two teams that are known to not necessarily be super kind to the senior scouts. So when you have holdovers that come from a previous regime, uh, they come from a previous GM that are more traditional in scouting, and you look at the major league department Look, they were kind of 0 for 5 on the major league signings in free agency. Pete Fairbanks goes down with an injury last night. That's a different one.

00:12:53

Thanks.

00:12:54

But Chris Paddock wasn't a good signing. Christopher Morell wasn't a good signing. John King just got DFA'd.

00:13:00

So it's more about—

00:13:01

it's the major league side. It's all the major league scouts. It has nothing to do with the minor league scouting department. All of the guys that they've been able to acquire through there are the guys that are helping the team.

00:13:09

And what is that like? What's the timing of it that it's the middle of the season that they did this? —this is normally you would think a move that would happen kind of quietly in the offseason.

00:13:15

Yeah, I mean, I think everything that happens with the Marlins when it comes to laying people off always ends up being a bigger public spectacle because they are the Marlins. Bob Nightingale puts that out. I think if it was Cleveland or if it was Milwaukee or if it was some other team that was competing for a playoff spot, most people wouldn't have reacted the same way. But it's the Marlins. And so reputationally, when it comes to laying off people, whether it's the front office or anywhere else, everybody makes a big spectacle out of it. Is laying off an entire staff out of the norm? Yeah, it is. Um, but they'll bring in a new staff that'll be more analytics-driven. Um, does that mean they found video is like— that's not really the way this works.

00:13:55

When you say analytics-driven, is that like— because the old school would be like, I see a guy, yeah, he got hit, he could hit, he could go 0 for 4, right?

00:14:01

But it was like, he hit the ball, I know that guy's a ball.

00:14:04

He hit the ball in the nose all 4 at-bats. So it's like, those were good hits, as opposed to like, I'm just looking at the numbers. If this guy was 2 for 12. Well, you know, last 12 plate appearances.

00:14:13

I don't need to see what happened there. So see, ironically, it is the opposite result of what you're talking about, right? The analytics-driven guy would be able to actually know, oh, this guy struck the ball hard. His exit velocity is higher where another guy might watch the game and be like, oh, 3 for 4, couple of base hits the other way. That's great. The old school scout in many ways is sort of dying out in Major League Baseball in a way that I don't know if that's a good thing or not.

00:14:38

I don't know. I don't know if that's a good thing or not for the game.

00:14:41

Like, I think more and more—

00:14:42

Jonah Hill's coming in here. Yeah. I mean, that is—

00:14:44

no, that is—

00:14:45

everything you're saying is reminding me of the scene in Moneyball. I love that scene.

00:14:49

We've been looking at these guys for 30 years and that guy's got it.

00:14:53

When I point at you, that's when you talk.

00:14:55

Yeah, that's right.

00:14:57

So he gets on base. Should I go now?

00:14:59

Shut up, Jeremy. Shut up, Jeremy.

00:15:08

Please just wrap it up.

00:15:15

You are not Billy.

00:15:16

Trista, the irony there is it's Jeremy who's voicing that song telling him to shut up. That's the irony.

00:15:22

That's what I was thinking it was about. I'm like, look, stop playing that. But I'm like, wait, wait a second, is that my boy playing his own swan song?

00:15:31

Salute. Maladroit was a lot better than I remember.

00:15:34

Yeah. So the Marlins lost 4-2 last night to the Red Sox. Bullpen blows it. Red Sox score 2 in the 9th— score 1 in the 8th to tie, 2 in the 9th to win it. I was actually watching the game tummy time. Yes, yes, it is true. I was watching it on my iPad on my stomach last night in bed. I don't know, I was tired early last night. Didn't even watch my stories. Mike, no spoilers. Didn't even watch my stories last night. Pew pew. Oh, I love that guy. So low, go low. So, well, the Marlins last night, they lose, but during the game, so they're playing the Red Sox, and as expected, like, when I put the game on and they showed the crowd, I'm like, this is a good crowd, you know, for Marlins standards, this is a good crowd. And then it's, oh yeah, they're playing the Red Sox. Okay, of course it's going to be a good crowd. And there was one point in the game where the television broadcast is chastising Marlins fans, Kyle Seelaff and Tommy Hutton, and they're chastising Marlins fans, like they're angry at Marlins fans for not coming out to the game.

00:16:41

Roy says you called them Bob Hutton.

00:16:43

I started to say Bobby and then I changed to Tommy, yeah. And real pertinent information, worth interrupting. Thank you. And they're chastising the Marlins fan for not coming out and allowing the Red Sox fans who take over the ballpark.

00:16:58

And it's like Marlins fans would definitely show up if there were only 3 Marlins games a year. Yeah, I believe that wholeheartedly.

00:17:06

Who are they against, though? Doesn't matter.

00:17:09

You give me 3 games a year. How about this? 3 games every couple of years where the Marlins are in town playing baseball. They'd pack that house.

00:17:17

It just— it feels like such a tired complaint to me about the Marlins fan not coming out. Don't we? And especially guys like Tommy know the history. Don't they know why Marlins fan doesn't come out?

00:17:29

I mean, come on, right? Super tired as a Sixers fan for sure. Like, whenever the Knicks fans come into— here we go— Philadelphia Arena, it's like, of course they can come in here and buy these tickets. Number one, they live in New York where the cost of living is $1 billion an hour. Number two is like 30-minute drive away. Come on, don't chastise us for not showing up in droves.

00:17:50

They also did take over San Antonio. They take over everywhere they go, Knicks fans.

00:17:56

That was especially a thing this postseason. It's not like you say that as if it's always like that. It's not always like that.

00:18:04

Well, it's always like that when the Knicks make a deep title run.

00:18:08

Remembering back to 1973. Yeah, you might be right. I do wonder if that's going to be a thing again this year. And my guess is no, it will not be.

00:18:17

Oh, 100%.

00:18:18

No, no, in the postseason, but not the regular season.

00:18:21

You don't think Knicks fans like spent all their— they were like, all right, I'm going to spend—

00:18:24

oh, they've been saving up for some people. Years they've had money.

00:18:27

I know Hank Azaria was talking about how much money he spent to travel around. I know not everyone's got Hank Azaria money, but it's just like I feel like a lot of people are like they're looking at their wives. It's like, yeah, not— you're not doing it 2 years in a row. You spent $20 grand traveling with the Knicks last year. You don't get it 2 years in a row.

00:18:40

The Panthers not making the Stanley Cup playoffs this year. Balance the books.

00:18:44

I'll never forget, this is before Game 7 in 2024 Stanley Cup Final, one of the best nights of my life. And I asked Mike like the day before, are you going to the game? And I would— I look, if someone gave me free tickets, I would have obviously had to consider it, but I never even considered going because I need to watch the game at home in a safe place where I can cry, not in front of people I don't know. And so I don't like going to that game. But I asked Mike, 'Are you going?' because he'd been going to games. I think he went to some road games even that postseason. Mike's like, 'No, I'm not going.' And then like an hour before that Game 7, Mike just sent me a picture of him walking into the arena, says, 'I made a very impulsive buy,' and you were at the game.

00:19:34

I was, and I'm glad I did. The way that I talked myself into it is, uh, I'm either gonna see the crowning achievement of the generation's greatest hockey player ever, right, coming back from 3-0, in which, yeah, it'll suck so much, but also at the hockey cocktail party that is held annually at the Brightside, I'd be like, guess what game I went to? And that's a story that carries you. Like, try to outdo that story. So that's what I did it for. I was like, all right, if McDavid wins, I get to say I was there, but if the Panthers win, that's the greatest night of my life.

00:20:04

Watch this. Hmm, wait, did you visit any, uh, Atlanta's great soccer games this year?

00:20:11

Like, uh, I went to, uh, Egypt-Argentina.

00:20:14

Oh, that's how it— that's how it works.

00:20:17

I went to Egypt-England, Atlanta.

00:20:20

I mean, Mike went to Egypt-Argentina. Argentina-England, excuse me. Mike went to Egypt-Argentina, which was a classic game. Mind you, Mike was mad that Argentina made the game.

00:20:31

Yeah, Cabo Verde-Egypt would have been great too. That would have been awesome. Yeah, the one that I missed was Cabo Verde-Argentina.

00:20:37

Cabo Verde is second best team in the World Cup.

00:20:39

I think that's, that's the game that is Now that we have some distance from the World Cup, that's the match of the World Cup. I think you're right. Miami, man, it would have been so incredible if Cabo Verde won that. Remember the World Cup? Seems like ages ago. World Cup was good. Dan was here.

00:20:56

Yeah, the vibes were good. Did this show.

00:20:58

We were, we were betting and like at 10 a.m.

00:21:02

How was the environment here in Miami? Muggy. Yeah. Not, not like the atmosphere. I mean, like the fan environment.

00:21:09

The fans were great. The fans were great. I will say a lot of great fans. Great fans. Great fans. Great fans. But I would say like from going— I went to like 5 different World Cup venues in terms of like getting in the building.

00:21:23

Miami, because of its history with this, feels like it's the worst.

00:21:25

It was the biggest pain in the ass. Yeah. No doubt. Worst. I mean, I was— my point of entry was at a Walmart across the street. What? Yeah. That was like the first layer of security. And you couldn't get dropped off like— like I got dropped off in the neighborhood and walk like 3 blocks, get to a Walmart. It took me like legitimately 55 minutes to get in there.

00:21:45

Atlanta did it right. Atlanta was— Atlanta was incredible. It was just like, oh, you're in, you're in the building. You just walk up and there you are and you're inside and everything's great.

00:21:56

Atlanta was terrific. I love Atlanta for sports. I mean, it sucks that it doesn't have a hockey team, but in general, like, I love going to sporting events in Atlanta.

00:22:03

Seems like they're going to get another chance at it. Third time's a charm. Yeah.

00:22:07

Trista, being that you're making your debut this week, Gotta get something. Not a debut this week.

00:22:12

Oh, well, debut this week, but yeah, debut comma this week.

00:22:15

No, but I mean like Juju was here yesterday, so this is your debut.

00:22:18

Debut for the week. Yep, got it.

00:22:19

Yeah, and, uh, gotta get some thoughts from you though on Klay Thompson. Of course, Juju and Trista had the alley-oop, and, uh, you guys, you love hoop, and we got to get some thoughts from you as far as Klay Thompson, who was being introduced to the Miami media this afternoon. Like, right away. It, it took like a month for us to get Giannis in the building to have the, you know, media availability. Klay Thompson, he's ready to go, buddy's getting to work. Give me some thoughts here on Klay Thompson.

00:22:49

It's just, to me, it feels like a massive nothing burger. I know for him he's probably loving it because he's getting out of Dallas and that place was a shit show and they're going absolutely nowhere. Uh, and Miami should be great for him with the baddies. We know he loves boats and probably Probably no state tax is great coming from Texas. So there, it's a win-win for Clay. I don't know necessarily that it helps the Heat at all. I feel like though Clay and I need to sort of like work things out. Why? What does that mean? Uh, because when he and Megan Thee Stallion broke up— oh, Megan Thee Stallion. Yeah, I know everybody's a big fan of Megan Thee Stallion in here. I made a video taking Megan Thee Stallion's side in the breakup. Maybe I shouldn't have done it, but like, he's corny. He's always been corny. Really? He's corny? Yes!

00:23:41

You don't think he's corny? Juju, is he corny?

00:23:43

Salute to my boy Clay, man. I love his haircut, bruh. My boy be getting it done.

00:23:47

I like my boy Clay.

00:24:08

00:24:09

Dan Levitar. I ain't never met nobody in the world that's gonna hate on Blue's Clues.

00:24:12

Great nomination.

00:24:13

Like, who don't like Blue's Clues, bruh? If you don't like Blue's Clues, you're a loser.

00:24:17

Juju Gotti.

00:24:18

Look, you get one paw print, that's the first clue. You put it in a notebook. Now what do you do? Blue's Clues, Blue's Clues.

00:24:27

Sit on the chair and think about it.

00:24:29

This is the Dan Levitar Show.

00:24:46

Why is he corny?

00:24:46

He makes paper planes at the press conference. He's moody and emo, and like, that's his whole brand. Like System of a Down type guy. Sounds awesome. Definitely a Green Album guy. And Megan made him a little bit more aura. And they were doing their thing. She was making him food. He brought her to the Thanksgiving, and then he was like, yeah, I'm not really interested in anything like long-term with you. Not really interested in monogamy.

00:25:10

She claimed that he was cheating, right?

00:25:14

Yeah. But then he was like, yeah, after the cheating, I'm also not interested in monogamy, which I think you should say probably on the front end. So I say it's tough sometimes. Monogamy is always tough. I feel like— figure it out later.

00:25:26

Just figure it out later.

00:25:27

We'll talk about it later. Like, let's just go with vibes. But after Thanksgiving, where she makes an entire plate for the whole family with the, you know, full like banquet dishes and everything, I feel like maybe that's when the conversation should be had, not like 4 or 6 months down the road. So I slandered Rocco, not knowing that Rocco was dead. Who's Rocco? Rocco's the dog. Clay's dog. Clay's dog Rocco ended up being dead. Didn't know that.

00:25:55

Well, when you say slander, like what does that even mean?

00:25:57

I said he's got his dumbass boat and his dumbass hat and his dumbass dog. Ugh! Oh, okay. And then like 3 months later, he found the video, as it happens, on Instagram, and then he called me a wench.

00:26:09

Oh, wench is a funny term.

00:26:11

That's a great insult. Very Pirates of the Caribbean.

00:26:15

Uh-huh. Very boat, very nautical, very Clay on brand. And then he used 3 instead of the E with the wench so he didn't get flagged by Instagram. I just want to say to Clay, I'm really sorry for the comments about Rocco. I take accountability. It was not right. I know we have special relationships with our dogs. If Ollie was to pass away and then someone called Ollie a dumbass dog, I'd probably be heated. There it is. So I don't think wench was fair. I think that really sort of like highlighted how corny and old school and probably System of a Down emo that he is. Stay on course. But I apologize.

00:26:49

Thank you, Juju. Those aren't the same thing, System of a Down and emo. Yeah. It's not? No, it's very different. Oh, is it? Yeah, just because they do chop suey occasionally in emo. It's screamo. No, no, that's Thursday. Okay, what about the name of a band?

00:27:00

What about Radiohead? What about metal? Death metal?

00:27:04

Are you just saying things? What? Radiohead? Metallica?

00:27:09

She's just saying bands that she doesn't know what their classification is.

00:27:12

Green Day, you know, pop punk.

00:27:16

Pop punk. Yeah, Metallica, this one's very easy. They're metal.

00:27:19

Yeah, they're metal. He's emo. All of that to say he's emo.

00:27:24

All right, so you do apologize?

00:27:25

I do apologize, but I don't think he's going to be very good. He's— his mobility defensively is not there.

00:27:30

I'm a little worried too. The injuries and he hasn't looked good.

00:27:35

He also looks a little thick boy. Sorry. Yeah, I got—

00:27:38

I mean, I'm not too worried about the conditioning, but I did, you know, not in basketball shape. But hey, that's what training camp used to be for. Now we expect these world-class athletes to be in shape all the time.

00:27:47

You think Pat Riley is doing the body fat test on Klay Thompson?

00:27:50

Yeah, you'll get him in shape.

00:27:52

He'll do it. I think that The thing, the underrated part of Klay's game is my boy defends like that whole Heat roster. Defending. Yeah. And I think that the— I mean, Nate Emmitt, we're not showing enough gratitude to Nate Emmitt coming in and them figuring it out.

00:28:08

Well, who explained this to me? Because I haven't watched a lot of Klay since Golden State. Yeah, I wasn't totally locked into his Dallas Mavericks experience. I know he's had some injuries. What kind of defender is he?

00:28:19

Is he now? I mean, he's played in Dallas. His 2 years in Dallas, he played 72 and 69 games. He's played.

00:28:24

I know, and I didn't watch. I just said, what is this guy's deal?

00:28:29

In those times, he dealt with the leaving of Luka, which is big, and he had to plug and play then, as well as Anthony Davis being injured when he got there. So he's been put in a lot of positions that he may not be put in here in Miami. So I think that this is going to be one of those revitalization stages of—

00:28:47

All right, so like, but he's definitely not going to be the same guy on-ball defending. No, he's still a capable defender.

00:28:53

He's a good, like, his own defender.

00:28:54

All right, so he's a good team defender and spoke better than that.

00:28:57

I think my boy is a good on-ball defender. He's putting seat belts on people.

00:29:02

I mean, I wouldn't say seat belts, but you think he's gonna be any worse defensively than Duncan Robinson was for us?

00:29:07

Absolutely not. He's not.

00:29:08

Never. He's not. So then what are we talking about? But he's also shooting like 40% from the field, right? That's bad. That's bad.

00:29:15

But I would, I would hope, and I'm sure it's the Heat's hope, that is instead of on a Dallas team that didn't even have Kyrie Irving last year, and he probably wasn't getting a ton of open looks, and it was probably difficult for him to get those looks. On a team now with Giannis Antetokounmpo, he's gonna get a lot of open shots. Okay, exactly.

00:29:33

So I, I think no matter what, given what was available to the Heat— and the trade market's not really a thing right now— they needed to take a chance on somebody, right? And hopefully it works out with Klay. There's plenty of reasons to be suspicious that it won't, right? But they needed to take a chance like this. If not him, who would have been the better option? Because they needed something else on the perimeter. They needed to add with this space. And I think of the available options, I would have been a DeRozan guy, but for whatever reason, DeMar DeRozan hates us. He just hates us. Hates the fit. Doesn't want to be here.

00:30:07

He signed for the minimum with Denver, didn't he? He doesn't want to be here.

00:30:11

So if that's the case, then I think Klay's the best of the available options.

00:30:15

As well as I think that Tim Hardaway Jr.'s ability to come off the bench and give you whatever Klay hasn't been giving you for that first 5 or 6 minutes. I think that's where the Heat are ultimately going to win.

00:30:26

Yeah, they have two guys there that are completely interchangeable for the majority of the game. And then you mix in a little bit of Pelle Larsen there also, a guy who can defend at that position. I— Trista, I love the Klay Thompson signing. I do. I've talked myself into it. I talked myself into it pretty quick. I think this is still a player who, if he has open threes, I think is going to make a lot of them.

00:30:51

I was looking at this depth chart, guys. It's rough. I don't even think he's going to start. I'm looking—

00:30:57

I think he will. You think so? I think it's probably part of what was promised to him.

00:31:01

Tim Hardaway Jr. currently starting shooting guard. And if you're not— if Tim Hardaway is taking your minutes, Jr., um, I'm having a hard time thinking how this is gonna go. It's, it's even when you look at what they've got him as, the shooting guard and small forward, you look at the second unit and it's like Bobby Portis, Bobby Portis, Klay Thompson, Klay Thompson, Drew Smith. Tough. Just very, very limited depth. Tim Hardaway's coming off of a year where he shot a career high from 3.

00:31:29

Yeah, Tim Hardaway's good, actually. Oh, okay, I thought you were—

00:31:31

But I think if Klay Thompson is having to come off the bench, which I think he will. He did in Dallas. Never. He— I mean, that just shows you how declining he's going to start.

00:31:42

Thompson is— I think he's going to start. I think it's part of what, you know, the likely agreement was, which is championship contender. And we're guaranteeing you a starting spot.

00:31:50

Right. And a lot of those minutes in Dallas, bro, I watched those games. Them boys was down 20, 30 points in the second quarter. And so Trey's just out there with— I mean, Klay is just out there with the green light. And a lot of those shots, them empty-calorie shots that y'all seen on stats, My boy Klay still got it. I hear those names you just read and I think the exact opposite. I hear dog, dog. Bobby Portis, dog. I see dogs up and down that Heat roster.

00:32:15

I think they're going to be a massive pain in the ass defensively.

00:32:18

Exactly. And I feel like you got defenders. That's what the MVP— NBA is about right now. They might be the first or second seed this season.

00:32:26

I think they're going to be good. Yeah.

00:32:27

You think they'll be the first or second seed?

00:32:30

They definitely have that potential, in my opinion.

00:32:32

I think this is a play-in team.

00:32:34

Really? Really?

00:32:36

Look, the Pistons showed last season that if you're a pain in the ass to play every night, you bring it defensively— the try-hards— that in the way that the NBA regular season is structured, you're gonna make the playoffs, you're gonna win a lot of games. And I think this team right now is more talented than last year's Detroit Pistons team because no one's even factoring them into the equation.

00:32:55

Jalen Duren's not even on the team right now.

00:32:57

The problem for Miami is the problem that it's been for Milwaukee, which is like, how many years? When was the last year we got a full season healthy of Giannis?

00:33:07

No, no, no. They, they absolutely have questions. I think the problem for Miami is the same problem that they've had for the last few years is they have a roster that you have questions about while the East also upgrades. The East gets stronger and stronger every year. Now, while the Heat finally took part in the East improving this year, so did the Sixers. I mean, the Celtics probably got a little worse. We'll see about the Knicks with the Mitchell Robinson thing, like the trading of assets between teams. We'll see. But I do think the East is a lot more competitive. And finally, they took part in it. Now, Atlanta might be an issue, a team that a lot of people are overlooking, because if we take what we saw post-Trey Young trade, they're greatly improved. They probably gave the Knicks the biggest problem.

00:33:48

And as well, right before you go, I think that a lot of Giannis Giannis' absences over the last couple of years haven't been totally above board. He thought he was going to get traded the first time, so he sat out.

00:34:00

He was hurt. I mean, he also wanted to play at the end of last season.

00:34:02

Exactly. They held him out. So how hurt has he really been?

00:34:05

I think Juju's right on the money. You have to really hyperanalyze what actually was going on there with the injuries.

00:34:12

Do you think the hyperextended knee was fake?

00:34:15

Well, that's another thing. When the guy's hurt, he puts up one of the greatest NBA performances of all time. So I I— there's plenty of questions about this roster. That's why they're interesting. The Miami Heat have been just treading water for even, even with the Jimmy Butler stuff. Their roster was kind of set and you kind of knew what the high end was. But now we finally have a team that's really interesting to watch night to night.

00:34:37

This is why I'm planning road trips to go see the Heat. No, you're not. I am. Where? I'm already going to see them twice on the road.

00:34:45

Yeah. Pearl Jam playing at the same time?

00:34:47

Good question. No. But I am going to see them twice on the road. I'm going to see them at the Magic. My son and I, we like going to see the Heat play at the Magic. We've been doing that several years in a row now. So we make the drive up, we go see the Heat play at the Magic. I love that. Last year Tyler Herro hit a shot at the buzzer. I was yelling at all the Magic fans. That was fun. And we're also going— I'm taking the family. I don't know if you heard, uh, but I am taking the family. We're going to New Orleans on New Year's. To go see the Heat take that ass against the Pelicans.

00:35:17

Pause. Uh, New Orleans, incredible city. And I bet—

00:35:21

new, uh, cool time to go during New Year's, right?

00:35:23

Amazing. I knew it. Take the kids to Frenchmen Street, listen to some, uh, horn music.

00:35:29

Love horn music.

00:35:30

Horn music. I, I didn't remember what it was.

00:35:34

Brass band. You're not super eclectic, are you?

00:35:37

I'm a hip-hop R&B fan.

00:35:39

You see, I knew New Orleans on New Year's was a good idea. Why is a You didn't tell him that's a stupid idea.

00:35:44

I just tweeted at you, 21st century Weezer Jams. You tweeted it to me? Yeah, so, 'cause everybody else can take part. It can be a fun little game. No, you should have included Dope Nose. Know about that Dope Nose?

00:35:55

I do. How did you have time to do that?

00:35:57

I wasn't listening to anything you said.

00:36:00

That makes sense.

00:36:01

Except for horn music.

00:36:03

Juju, why is VJ Edgecomb dunking on children?

00:36:07

Because he is awesome and he is a hero. This is how I think you should treat kids. You pay your baby kids all their life, and then guess what they get whenever they get about 12, 13 years old?

00:36:17

They backtalk.

00:36:17

The real world, you dig?

00:36:19

Play that beautiful Brown footage, uh, video team.

00:36:22

All right, so here's Vijay. He's crossing a kid up, he's going left, and then with two hands he dunks on him, uh, and the kid winds up falling backwards onto his back. A real dunk on two. The kid tried to— like, the kid went up with two hands.

00:36:39

Yeah, that's a foul.

00:36:41

That's an and one. Yeah, yeah, look at that.

00:36:44

I am so happy to be a Sixers fan. Of course, like, bro, BJ, you deserve this.

00:36:50

Thank you, brother. I'm so happy for you.

00:36:52

Appreciate it, man. Now the kid probably didn't like it, but the kid's father definitely think it's awesome, right?

00:36:57

Yeah, he talked about it at the water cooler for sure.

00:36:59

Yeah, it's like, look at this, this is incredible here. Sometimes you gotta dunk on a kid's head.

00:37:04

Everybody knows that. Wo gibt's eigentlich die weißen Rosen aus Athen? Und wo regnet's für mich noch mal rote Rosen?
