Episode summary

Hosts Jennifer Welch and Josh Welch discuss what they describe as the unraveling of Elon Musk's political and business standing. They examine claims about Musk's immigration history and the large government-related gains they attribute to his role in the second Trump administration.

The conversation also covers whether a president can pardon a co-conspirator, the Starshield dispute, and Musk's spending in the midterm cycle. The hosts then turn to Texas, where they argue Musk's companies rely on state subsidies, and to the Senate race involving Ken Paxton.

Listeners will hear the hosts' strongly held opinions, alongside the reporting and examples they cite to support them.

There's one immigrant that I can't stand. There's one immigrant that I want investigated, from top to bottom. And I think I am not alone in this, and I think we all can see that he's terrified of accountability. He even said during the 2024 election that if Kamala Harris won, he'd probably go to prison, which seems like a weird thing to say, right? Well, Elon Musk has bought up American politicians, and he has profited massively off of the United States taxpayer in his life, and he has profited even more during the second Trump administration.

Pop this up. The New Republic is reporting Musk invested 736 million in the second Trump administration and got back 16.3 billion, a return of 2,200%. He made off with $16 billion of taxpayer money, and this is the political party that has the audacity to say that immigrants are taking your money without properly identifying the main immigrant that is taking your money.

And per Elon's own brother, they were illegal immigrants. And that's on video. We played it here. Josh.

Josh Welch00:02:20

That's right. And that gets back to him coming over, I think it was 1995, enrolled in Stanford on a student visa, never went to Stanford for 5 or 6 years, worked, which means you're working in this country illegally. And then we have the audacity to speak about deporting immigrants and investigating Elon Omar. At the same time, you have this person involved in our government who's making billions of dollars. And it's no surprise here. Musk is someone that is that broken, that makes that much money, should have no part in government.

And this whole part with oligarchs and how they've infiltrated government has to be investigated and meted out to where we stop. This AI board that goes back and forth with Donald Trump, that he doesn't want to regulate, and they're all making billions of dollars. I mean, it's all self-dealing and just has to stop.

Jennifer Welch00:03:17

And Elon, of course, is terrified. This is before we even really talk about Doge. He not only did he get $16 billion of taxpayer money that he extracted from the American taxpayer because he feels entitled, he started Doge, and he and Big Balls went in and got our information, allegedly, and probably shut down a lot of investigations into himself. Remember I told you that part that he said, if Kamala wins, I'm probably going to prison?

That's because there were government investigations into these agencies that he shut down were investigating him. So we have allowed one immigrant to do all of the things that MAGA campaigns against, and he is their poster boy. All right? I mean, if you want to talk about people that I think need to be deported and investigated, it's him. But Trump owes Elon a lot because Elon invested into Trump, and Trump is going to preemptively pardon Elon.

Let's play the clip.

And they want to arrest Elon Musk. They want to seize his factories, nationalize SpaceX.

Speaker 600:04:30

It's talk. But if it is talk, we'll have to protect them.

Speaker 500:04:33

Big Balls? They want to arrest him? Anyone around you who enabled you?

Speaker 600:04:38

Well, I don't know about me. I can tell you this. If they do, we just have to protect those people.

Speaker 500:04:44

How do you do that? Can you preemptively pardon them?

Speaker 600:04:47

Well, that's what Biden did. He gave everybody a pardon.

Jennifer Welch00:04:52

Josh, what if in the lame duck term in February of 2027, Trump pardons Elon? Can he do that?

Josh Welch00:05:02

Well, he can do that. And this brings up a broader question as to reform of this presidential pardon power, because it's an absolute privilege under the Constitution for a president to do this. But what I've often wondered in my mind is, if you have two people in a conspiracy together, the president and Elon Musk, and Donald Trump orders Elon Musk to perform a criminal act, and Elon Musk does it, can Donald Trump then pardon Elon Musk for performing a criminal act in which Donald Trump is also a co-conspirator?

And some of this intertwines back to Trump v. U.S., where in Trump's official capacity, he's granted absolute immunity thanks to John Roberts. And so you get into this thing, but it's clear that the pardon power wasn't intended for co-conspirators, for criminals to act in concert with each other, for the president to order someone like Elon Musk or allow him or conspire or agree with him to perform criminal acts. We haven't even got to the Starlink Starshield issue that he needs a huge pardon for.

But it's unclear. You've never had a president that's been in a conspiracy with others and then pardoned those same co-conspirators. I mean, it's kind of absurd. It's a mind bender. There's no authority on it. But one thing we agree on is the Democrats are going to have to initiate some reform to the presidential pardon power, for sure. That's going to have to be a priority.

Jennifer Welch00:06:59

And I think the Democrats at some point, we need to rejoin. And this probably would have been 2028. We need to rejoin the International Criminal Court and send all these motherfuckers to The Hague. Every last one of them. They are international war criminals. It's my understanding from reporting that Elon Musk shut down the service of Starshield for Ukraine, and innocent Ukrainians died because of that. That this one man made that decision, and he did that, and people are dead, and he does all of this stuff with impunity.

And I think they all need to go to The Hague, every last one of them.

Josh Welch00:07:40

And when he did that, they asked Donald Trump about that, and he didn't know. If you remember that interview, Donald Trump didn't know who had done it. And we're thinking, how does the president not know? How does this person like Elon Musk, who's unelected, have that much power when the people haven't given him any power? He's not confirmed for any position. He can do all of this stuff unchecked, unvetted by any other third party. It's insane. It's really crazy and frightening because he's obviously a disturbed person.

Jennifer Welch00:08:08

Yeah. All right. And then now let's look at Elon's spending this cycle. Prem Thacker, friend of the show, reporter over at Zotero posted this. Pop this up. This is insane. Musk has spent 474 million to help Trump and the GOP win the midterms, roughly 0.05% of his net worth. If you compare his worth to the median Americans, Musk's political spending this election cycle is the equivalent to $116.

And here's what is just a fascinating psychological case study for me. All of these capitalists, supporters of oligarchy with absolutely zero capital that are all bang up, harden the paint for Elon Musk. That is just absolutely like cuck central. I mean, when I see it, I'm like, why are you supporting him? He doesn't give a shit about you. The fact that some people think that Trump, Vance, Musk, Teal, Bezos give a shit about them, it's really a fascinating psychological case study.

I guess they want to be close to power or exploitation so that it can assuage the feelings of their being exploited.

Josh Welch00:09:32

Yeah. The only thing I can think of, too, I mean, it's obviously cult as we talk about, but there's a thing in recovery where because I don't drink or use drugs anymore, but back when I did, I would always navigate and find my way toward people that were like me, that were broken like I was. I would hang out with those people, spend time with those people, because we had that in common, the brokenness that caused us to drink and/or use drugs. To me, I could equate that to the MAGA movement. Like these people are all so broken that they get comfort being around people just like them.

They feed off of each other. And if they segue out of that into mainstream Americans, something's too different. They're afraid of that, afraid of that change, afraid of that provoking thought they may have to engage in. So that's my two cents on it. I don't know if it applies.

Jennifer Welch00:10:19

No, I think it makes perfect sense. I think it makes absolutely perfect sense because if they're around people that are morally clear, that would feel uncomfortable.

Josh Welch00:10:29

They would feel threatened.

Jennifer Welch00:10:30

Yeah. And it would be like, well, this doesn't feel good, but if they're around a bunch of if you're a piece of shit and you're around a bunch of pieces of shit, then it just confirms that being a piece of shit is okay.

Josh Welch00:10:38

Yeah.

Jennifer Welch00:10:39

All right. And this is why right here, this is why Elon Musk is panicking today and why Texas is Musk's financial vulnerability. Pop this up. This is the whole ballgame, you guys. Elon Musk's panic is tied to the fact that Texas has become the literal epicenter of his business empire, which is why he's all chips in on corrupt Ken Paxton. So you have the Terrafab project, which is Musk's 16.8 billion joint SpaceX, Tesla, semiconductor, and AI ecosystem in Grimes County relies heavily on a 1.66 billion local tax break and state grants.

See, there's the grift. This guy is a parasite, an immigrant parasite sucking off the American taxpayer. It's not the black and brown people that come over here that work their fucking asses off. It is this guy. He is the problem. Local lawsuits are attempting to dismantle these deals and expose confidential negotiations. Next up, we have legal and regulatory defense. Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton has actively used his office to shield SpaceX from public records, disclosures, and environmental security.

If Paxton loses his competitive Senate race to Democrat James Talarico, Musk loses his primary legal shield in the state. State subsidies. Starlink is facing intense scrutiny over a $110 million state broadband grant. A shift in the state legislature puts these lucrative state-level subsidies and contracts at risk of being audited or canceled.

Do you see this? He receives taxpayer money, fears of being audited, and fears of transparency and fears of oversight. Next up, land and environmental battling. SpaceX's Boca Chica launch site is locked in fierce ongoing disputes with local conservationists over land and water use. An issue Texas Democrats are actively weaponizing to turn voters against him. And lastly, the Tesla SpaceX merger. Musk is planning a massive corporate consolidation to use Tesla's cash reserves to fund SpaceX.

This maneuver requires smooth state and federal regulatory approval, which a hostile political shift would heavily disrupt. Elon Musk doesn't give a shit about Texas except for extracting money and subsidies and resources from the state. He is a parasite of the highest order. He is the immigrant, the poster board.

It's one person. He and Peter Thiel, those are the two that need to be deported. They're the ones who are fucking you over, not the people who come over here and work their ass off laboring. It's these guys. Josh, final words.

Josh Welch00:13:53

Well, and he did this with Donald Trump. He supported him and did the same thing, grifted. And now he's doing this with Ken Paxton in Texas on a state level because he's set up there. Nobody could look at Ken Paxton and say, "God, that's my candidate. What a great guy. I really want to support him. I believe in his cause. I'm going to die on that hill." Nobody believes that. He's buying himself a senator to finagle through all of those things you just went through and make money and grift off the state of Texas. And I cannot wait till Talarico kicks his ass, Ken Paxton's ass, puts a fork in him, and then we can celebrate Elon Musk and his retreat from the hills of Austin, Texas, to Mar-a-Lago, where he'll have to find a new home base and get the fuck out of Texas.

Jennifer Welch00:14:40

I completely agree. Texas, we are rooting for you. You can do this. We're nervous rex today. We're cranking out episodes left and right.
