Are you are listening to the Rosenthal and Jeselnik Vanity Project or as I like to call it, the biggest mistake of Anthony's career?

00:00:07

Greg, why are you yelling?

00:00:16

Welcome to NFL daily. It's not the Rosenthal and Jeselnik vanity project. Yes. This is where, yeah, I messed up. Horses, are always the soldiers of pets.

00:00:27

We've got Anthony Jesselnik in the NFL daily Chris Wesseling podcast studios with our friend, Colleen Wolf. Welcome, Anthony. I hope that brings you back some some good times.

00:00:39

Thank you. It's good to be here. Although, I will admit that the last time I was here at the NFL Network, you guys were in a different neighborhood.

00:00:49

Yes. And when I would explain,

00:00:51

you were in Culver City, and I would say, I want a car to bring me here. I'm not coming back to the NFL until you bring me a car. And then I got in the car today and I was like, oh, we're not going to Culver City. Mm-mm. No.

00:01:03

We're going an extra half hour. I've been in the car for an hour to get here.

00:01:06

I was gonna ask you that.

00:01:09

Make it worth it, Greg. Make it worth it worth it for me.

00:01:11

I mean, isn't it just worth it to see me and to see Colleen? It's been

00:01:15

It's great to see Colleen. I haven't seen Colleen in a long time. I haven't seen you in a couple of days. I see you all the time. I'm here.

00:01:23

I'm just promoting my special. I'm getting I got a new Netflix special called Bones and All. Came out, a couple weeks ago. Been getting great press. I got New York Times today.

00:01:32

Oh. Gave me best gesture. Best gesture for after I told a joke. The laugh was so long that I looked at my watch. And they said that was the best gesture in a comedy special all year.

00:01:43

Number 5

00:01:44

Pretty damn good.

00:01:45

On Vulture's top list. So, yeah. I'm sorry.

00:01:47

I like that you're just coming out hot with the with the promo.

00:01:50

What else am I gonna talk about here at the NFL Network? I was

00:01:54

gonna get I was gonna get to that.

00:01:55

See, I every every instinct in me wants to get you in trouble. Like, right when I said what else am I gonna talk about, the 5 things that popped into my head would have gotten you both fired.

00:02:04

Panic just watched over Greg's face.

00:02:06

Yeah. It it really has. So if you're an OG listener of the Rosenthal and Jessalyn McVanity project, r g v p, that was a podcast. I don't know if you remember this, Colleen.

00:02:19

Oh, yeah. I do. Of course.

00:02:20

2015, Anthony and I launched the podcast that that ran through the NFL podcast division and is still up there amazingly right now. I don't wanna say Greg

00:02:34

is shocked by it. So

00:02:35

I don't wanna say too much more about it because I want people to go listen to it. It's great stuff. I'm I'm proud of it. And, yes, throughout that whole time, there, you were very angry at our executive at the time, Tom Brady, and really the whole organization. Not only would they not pay you or us extra for doing it

00:02:51

Yeah.

00:02:51

But they would not send you a car to pick you up every week, and it was just it you got increasingly angry throughout, the course of

00:02:58

the season. Are changing.

00:03:00

Yes. Now I

00:03:00

can get a car, and now I'm gonna be here every day, I think. I think I'm gonna be 7 days a week NFL daily just to promote the special. Yeah. Just to tell you

00:03:08

what new ones

00:03:09

I've gotten. And, and, yeah, if you guys send me car every day. Yeah. I'll

00:03:12

take that hour round trip.

00:03:13

I'll take that hour commute while I read. Well,

00:03:16

now you can appreciate that when I was driving from here to Burbank for the Jesseln Lick and Rosenthal vanity project come on, bro. You know, what a hike what a hike it was. But, yes, we have seen each other a lot recently because we just taped what might be the last episode of our other podcast, and we called it Later Alligators. And Anthony has just spent, like, the last handful of podcasts threatening our listeners that he's going to quit. And then finally, we did what might be the last episode, but I don't believe it at all.

00:03:47

So the he's just, like, putting them through unnecessary stress.

00:03:50

Oh, you guys keep ending podcasts together. So Yeah. Let's get this 1 going.

00:03:55

I mean, Collin doesn't know what we're talking about because Collin's on TV. Yeah. Collin and I are TV people. You're a podcast boy. So we can end podcasts and start podcasts whenever we want.

00:04:06

We're TV people.

00:04:07

It's a power that we have.

00:04:08

It's a look. You know? It's a vibe.

00:04:11

I do. I am on a show called NFL game debut, which they play increasingly early in the morning.

00:04:17

They told him it's a TV show.

00:04:18

I think I think you you have to get up at 4 AM to see it, but Colleen once hung with us in Montreal, I believe. Not in Montreal.

00:04:25

I've never been to Canada.

00:04:27

I don't know why I said Montreal, because I've never been to Montreal with Anthony. San Francisco, when we did a live show of our podcast, and you were just there at the comedy festival. Am I Oh, yeah.

00:04:38

That's right. Yes. And we all sat around a fire, I think, in, like, really comfortable big chairs Yes. Or leather.

00:04:43

Clusterfest Mhmm. Back when Comedy Central was still a power.

00:04:46

Yes. When they had money to send us there, I stayed, like, in a nice hotel. It was awesome. Okay. We're here.

00:04:51

We're promoting the special. New York Times is giving it love. I love them. Colleen hasn't yet watched it too.

00:04:58

But I will say I did download it for my flight home from New Orleans, but I fell asleep because it was a 6 AM flight, so I didn't get to start it yet. But I didn't fall asleep because I had started it. It was because I only had 3 hours of sleep.

00:05:10

That went right

00:05:10

I had to see it.

00:05:11

Right from compliment to insult. Like, if you would cut it off in the beginning, it's, like, thank you, Colleen.

00:05:16

I'm so sorry.

00:05:16

And then it's, like, why? Why are you so excited?

00:05:18

I'm gonna go home and watch it tonight.

00:05:20

No. It is it is like a a trait sometimes you see a listener in the wild or whatever, and they're like, yeah. I haven't, like, listened to the new podcast, but I love the the old 1 or just, you know, things like they think they're, you know, tell or I haven't listened in a while. I used to listen all the time. It's like

00:05:35

I like when people are like, what are you doing now? What are you doing these days?

00:05:38

People don't realize they can just lie to you. Right. Love the new special. That's all I need. I'm not gonna ask for details.

00:05:44

I'm not gonna say what part did you love? You know what? What was your favorite joke? I'm just gonna say thanks.

00:05:50

Well, I'm learning today, so that's great.

00:05:51

But I You're gonna watch

00:05:52

that gesture that you had when you looked at your watch when everyone was laughing.

00:05:56

Wait. So New York Times did, like, the best comedy awards? It was like It was interesting. It was

00:06:00

like a comedian of the year was Nikki Glaser, and it was like special of the year was this, like, best joke Okay. This, and then I was best gesture, which is kind of like the New York Times wanted to throw me a bone. Yes. You know? But it was like, hey, diversity.

00:06:14

So let's give the white guy the the the best gesture.

00:06:18

That that's you just raging against cancel culture.

00:06:20

I'm so mad about cancel culture. I I mean, listen. I could take up I could take up the rest of the NFL daily. I could take up the whole daily.

00:06:28

His eyes are lighting up right now.

00:06:30

Cancer culture guys.

00:06:32

I have I have no idea how long, this this NFL daily is going to go, but I do I do wanna talk a little football in it. Please. You're you're a big fan of the Steelers. I'm from Pittsburgh, born and raised. So, yes, you are.

00:06:46

It's in my blood. This is the most promising Steelers season There in a while, I was gonna say since that pandemic year where they had a really good record, but it was an old Ben Roethlisberger. And by the time they got to the playoffs, they were pretty creaky. I actually can't remember a Steelers team in recent in a in a while that I actually thought, well, they could be in the Super Bowl. They they could be in our college home, you know, college place New Orleans, and, they could be playing.

00:07:16

They absolutely could be. I do not trust Kansas City. I do not trust Buffalo. I think the Steelers can pull it out this year. I think Russ is cooking, and I'm loving it.

00:07:25

And if Russ goes down, we got Fields. As soon as Pickens comes back, and I hear I hear he's getting crazy stuff injected in him. So he's gonna be back sooner than you think. So I think, I think it's all about injuries like it is every year, but I think the Steelers have a good chance this year.

00:07:41

Mhmm. What about this week, though? Playing the Eagles.

00:07:43

Okay. Well,

00:07:44

hold on

00:07:44

to that. No. Hold on to that. We haven't gotten to our big segment yet.

00:07:47

I've I've got plenty to say,

00:07:50

which is which is called Jessalpix. Yeah. Very excited for that. We we had an old segment back in the day. And, again, Colleen, I really recommend you more than anyone should go back and listen to this.

00:08:01

1 of our hit segments was crunk or funky funky fresh.

00:08:06

Mhmm. Mhmm.

00:08:07

And we would just go through the games that were happening that week, and Anthony would decide whether that game was crunk or funky funky fresh.

00:08:15

And what people don't people forget is that I was right. If you look back

00:08:19

Oh, yeah.

00:08:20

If you look back a week later, like, I nailed everyone. Yeah. I was I was really

00:08:24

Well, everyone still talks about it here.

00:08:25

I believe it.

00:08:26

Yeah. I believe it. It's actually not true because no 1 that was at the company in 2015 still works here.

00:08:32

Oh, I believe Paulina I was gonna say that, yeah, I think everyone's gone. I think you guys traded in employees for a new podcast studio.

00:08:40

I I did introduce Anthony to, yeah, to Eric behind the glass. Chris is back there as well and, you know, made a reference to our old producer Brandon Marcus, but yet, like, no 1 in there had even ever ever heard of him. Thing things change fast. That's why I'm holding on for dear life.

00:08:55

It's a fun little thing for the listener who definitely knows Supernge Marcus.

00:09:02

The Steelers, though, like, in a big game, let's say they're in the divisional round. They're playing in Buffalo. What is your trust level with Russell Wilson? Like, TJ Watt, for all the great things that he's done in his career, like, how many how many playoff wins have they have they had since TJ Watts been there? Like, 0?

00:09:25

0. I didn't think of it.

00:09:25

I would assume 0. I don't think they wanna play. Maybe 1 at most, and that's okay. You know, we're building the team. The standard is the standard.

00:09:34

We've got these grand we've got these games. We've got Philadelphia. Yeah. We've got Baltimore. We've got, Kansas City.

00:09:41

I think we play in, like, 11 days. It's something nuts where if we get through that 2 in 1 guaranteed Super Bowl, we could go o and 3 and still, I think, make the Super Bowl. Again, it's gonna come down to who's healthy at the right time. Do not bet against Tomlin. And again, can

00:09:59

I think he should be coach of the year?

00:10:01

Definitely coach. You know he's never been coach of the year?

00:10:04

I do know that because I did a whole thing on 1 of the episodes that probably aired before this or after this. I don't know. But how has that happened?

00:10:13

Racism.

00:10:14

It's you know what?

00:10:16

Yeah. I mean, if you like

00:10:18

going to this

00:10:18

It is 1 of those things that you go through year by year, and it's like, oh, that guy made sense in that year. That guy made sense in that year. But it's because it's because it's because of the standard. Because he the expectations are so high every year that when they just kinda meet him that and you don't give it to him. It's always someone like Kevin Stefanski who Yeah.

00:10:38

Leads the Browns to 10 wins with Joe Flacco instead of, like, a great coach. Like like, Andy Reid never wins it.

00:10:44

To win a single game with Kenny Pickett should have given him coach of the year. To win 1 game over 3 seasons, they should just give him they should rename the award after him.

00:10:54

It is kind of amazing. Kenny Pickett's on on your team. You know, little rivalry here.

00:10:59

Thank god.

00:11:00

Steelers, Eagles, Pennsylvania rivalry.

00:11:02

It's not really a thing.

00:11:04

Not a not a thing at all.

00:11:05

No. Everyone's trying to make it a thing.

00:11:06

No. No. It's too they're too far away. It's an 8 hour drive.

00:11:09

But they're playing each other this week. That makes it Yeah.

00:11:11

But they play every 4 years, maybe. Like, it's not no one's, like it's exciting to see how good are we. Yeah. Because we're both I think you're what? 11 and 2?

00:11:20

You've got 2 losses. We got 3. So yeah. I think it I think this game is going to say a lot about, the state of both of these teams, but I don't think it really means anything.

00:11:29

Not anything about the state in general of Pennsylvania.

00:11:32

No. The Keystone State. Right. That's all I

00:11:35

Keystone State Battle is what I keep hearing.

00:11:37

Mhmm. Kenny Pickett was so bad in the preseason that there was, like, a big you know, people wanted him benched. People wanted him cut from you know, and they thought it was just favoritism and whatnot because of the the trade that they made that they gave up something that the Eagles even made him their backup. Like, your quarterback wasn't even good enough to be their their backup.

00:11:55

I don't know what he's good enough to be. But not the Steelers starter, because that's Russ's job now. Russ. I'm all about Russ.

00:12:04

Like but as a long term thing?

00:12:07

I think Russ can play for 10 more years. I think Russ can play at a high level for 10 more years.

00:12:12

I do like, there is something about it that's a great story that you spend I spent, many years kinda thinking he's, you know, pretty low on the list of, like, people you would wanna hang out with in the NFL. Not that any of them would wanna hang out with me or that it'd be like that. But he just didn't seem like like a fun guy, and he seemed a little overrated.

00:12:32

He's the biggest dork in the NFL. He's the biggest dork in the NFL. He decided in high school he wanted to marry Ciara, and then he married Ciara, and then he told people that. You shouldn't have told anybody that, Russ. You should've just done it, and it would've been cool.

00:12:48

Yeah. Who was the guy he used to he used to be a running back for Green Bay, and he's obsessed with Batman. And they did a thing I'm on Green,

00:12:56

I think.

00:12:56

Oh. It was I'm on We're old. He was the biggest dork in the NFL for a long, long time. He was the biggest dork. And then when he retired, now Russell Wilson is the biggest dork.

00:13:05

I mean, how can you be the biggest dork though if you did marry Ciara? Like, I know it's not a cool move to tell everyone that ahead of time. I had not heard that story and but the fact that she's okay with him telling that story,

00:13:20

He's bringing it crazy things happen every day.

00:13:21

Ciara wants dork. Ciara wants a dork. Sure. If you see any of the videos they do together, Russell's not saying anything. He's just standing there holding her hand while she dances, which good for him.

00:13:32

I'm not knocking him. I'm just saying he's a dork. But you want your starting quarterback to be a dork. Tom Brady was the biggest dork in the world right behind Russell Wilson for a long, long time.

00:13:43

Yeah. Now he's now he's a broadcast guy.

00:13:45

Patrick Mahomes is cool? Patrick Mahomes is a dork. You're thinking of his brother. His brother's cool.

00:13:50

Don't point at me.

00:13:51

His brother's cool.

00:13:53

They did spend, like, too much time on that. Was it what was it? Hard Knocks? No. It was the the quarterback show of just, like, walking around with him at, like, an amusement park with his family.

00:14:03

It was perfectly nice family, but it does kinda support your theory that it wasn't that interesting. The quarterbacks are never, like, the most interesting player on the team.

00:14:11

That's most if they're the most interesting person on the team, they're getting cut. Like, those j those days of, like, McMahon, you know, behind center are over. You need to sober up and memorize the place.

00:14:25

Jalen Hurts is not, like, that interesting. Have you heard about this little controversy in Philadelphia this week? Probably not. Between there was a story that came out from Brandon. You you explain it.

00:14:39

Okay. Jalen Hurts, quarterback, and AJ Brown. After the game the other day, AJ Brown was asked what needs to change with this offense even though they won the game. And he said the passing game, because he wasn't getting the ball. They're not really throwing the ball right now.

00:14:53

And he said it with, like, the smirk on his face, whatever. So then it kind of, like, starts to become a little bit of a thing. Brandon Graham, whose season has ended, he has a radio show in Philly weekly. He goes on his radio show, and he says, hey. They used to be friends, but sometime like, people change, and they can't let the personal stuff get in the way of the business stuff.

00:15:15

Then after that happens, he walks it back, Brandon Graham does, and says, it's fine. Like, you know, and everything there's nothing wrong here. There's nothing that's, like, happening between the 2 of them. So, obviously, there is something happening between the 2 of them.

00:15:27

Obviously I mean, big advantage dealers, I think, is what that says to me.

00:15:33

This is actually you mentioned, you know, us seeing each other twice in such a a short period

00:15:40

Yeah.

00:15:40

Because we just, you know, did what what could have been the last JRVP. Yeah. We'll see. When do you think the next time we'll see each other? Because not like, that little conversation, AJ Brown, Jalen Hurts, you know, that made me think, it's important to keep the personal touches close.

00:15:56

Maybe that's what broke up JRVP is is the personal problems.

00:16:00

I can I mean, definitely, egos got involved? You know, ego egos frayed, as we went on, you know, in the locker room culture at JRVP was, was pretty, hateful Hateful and brutal. I I would guess we would see each other on New Year's. I bet I'm back. When does your family get back from Japan?

00:16:19

After New Year's. Yeah.

00:16:20

Yeah. See, I get back a little bit before New Year's. You're back New Year's. I could see you're looking at Colleen, like, Colleen invited you to a party, and I'm like, no. I have to party.

00:16:29

No. I'm trying to leave the country.

00:16:30

Yeah. Well, I am wondering what Colleen's gonna do. No. I'm I'm hanging out by myself. You won't be there to go with me on Chris Christmas Day to to the same holocaust movie that we went to last year

00:16:44

Let me see.

00:16:45

On Christmas Day.

00:16:46

I wanna I always wanna call it a sound of freedom, but that's not it. Thanks. That is the opposite of the thing.

00:16:51

What the hell did you guys do on Christmas?

00:16:52

It's an all cost movie where it was

00:16:54

just you just heard it? The zone of interest.

00:16:56

Zone of interest. Yeah. We saw it in Christmas.

00:16:58

Movie. Yes. And the sound was memorable from it. If you've seen it, you kinda know what I'm talking about.

00:17:05

How festive.

00:17:06

And we just thought, you know, what's the most kinda badass thing we could do?

00:17:14

We've seen the opposite of Christmas.

00:17:15

Right. Yeah. Let's let's see the zone of interest. And it was good. And then I went to work later that day and did did Monday night football.

00:17:22

We once saw Cats on Christmas

00:17:23

We did.

00:17:24

As well.

00:17:25

That was fun.

00:17:25

Very unsober. This is what happens when your family leaves you. And then when you bring it up that your family leaves you on Christmas, like, people think you're not a good person or not a good father or husband. But it's just every family is different.

00:17:38

I'm upset that you guys can't do something together this Christmas.

00:17:41

Well, he's going to I'm going to see my family. My family loves me.

00:17:44

Mhmm.

00:17:45

And so they want me there.

00:17:46

Oh, that's so nice. What's that like? It

00:17:48

I you know, I tried to explain it to Greg several times, and it's almost impossible. It's almost impossible to, to let him know.

00:17:54

What what is the reception for you back in in Pittsburgh these days? Because, you know, you're here with the the leather jacket. That's been a thing for a while, but the hair is becoming increasingly

00:18:07

Long?

00:18:07

Yeah. Yeah. Just unique. Just Everyone Not Pittsburgh style. So you show up there

00:18:12

and Pittsburgh doesn't believe I'm from Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh thinks I'm Los Angeles. So when I show up, it's like I see some people from high school, and they're like, okay. But otherwise, they're just like, what are you doing here? But I'm going to a Penguins game, and maybe I'll run into some fans there.

00:18:24

I usually see a couple people, but Pittsburgh is proud with me if they know I'm from Pittsburgh. But they don't believe it. Because I'm I'm a suburb guy. Where are you a suburb of Philly? Or you yeah.

00:18:34

Yeah. That's where that's where the soul is.

00:18:37

It is. That's what they say.

00:18:38

City. Mhmm. It's the suburbs. Yeah.

00:18:40

Yeah. People if if you are listening, by the way, and wondering, like, why is Anthony on the show? And I should have explained as a as a better host off the top that we're

00:18:48

You're learning.

00:18:49

That we're friends, best friends, going back to to college

00:18:53

Yes.

00:18:54

At Tulane, and that was, the genesis of of doing our JVP back at at the NFL. We went out to LA together to have an internship between our junior and senior years

00:19:07

of college.

00:19:08

Anthony hooked me up with it. I had nothing to do that summer. He had hung he had come with me to Massachusetts the summer before and waited tables and worked at a restaurant in Martha's Vineyard with me. And I had nothing to do that summer. I didn't wanna hang around New Orleans.

00:19:20

I was, like, can I tag along with you?

00:19:21

Oh, so Greg's just been riding your coattails for how many?

00:19:23

To LA. Forever. 5. And then who do you think stood out more as, like, a long term employment candidate at that company as an assistant at an African American movie production company?

00:19:39

If you were gonna hire either me or Greg to answer the phone This

00:19:41

feels like a trick question.

00:19:43

It was it was Greg. It was not even a question. It was that Greg got the job, and then I I became a stand up comedian. But if I had gotten that job, maybe I'm not doing stand up. Yeah.

00:19:51

Maybe I'm hosting NFL Yeah. And Colleen's a chef.

00:19:56

I No.

00:19:56

You don't know what could have happened. Yeah. It's a sliding door situation.

00:19:59

And maybe the the personal animus that came up for me getting all the the buzz on j r Jeselnik and Rosenthal Vannie project, JDRVP, for being the funny 1, and that, like, Anthony just couldn't take that after a while that so many of our fans were just, like, we love Greg, like, more Greg, a little less

00:20:19

Greg has this dream almost every night.

00:20:21

A little less Anthony. Like, like, Greg is so funny, like, less Anthony. It's weird.

00:20:26

Let's say we did an episode, and I was, like, oh, welcome to the GRVP. Greg's not here today. Do you think anyone turns it off? Do you think a single person Do

00:20:35

you think anyone notices?

00:20:37

Yeah. I don't think so. I think if you said, hey, welcome to JRBB. Anthony couldn't be here. You're hearing some clicks.

00:20:43

You're hearing them live. Yeah.

00:20:45

I am wondering, like, there were people, you know, very excited. They still are inside this company, for you to be coming. This was this was

00:20:52

Mostly inside this room.

00:20:54

Seen as a big as a big time get I'm wondering if they've listened to this 20 to 25 minutes whether they still feel the same. Our our producer

00:21:01

I mean

00:21:01

Eric just sounds confused.

00:21:02

Back when we did our JVP, Amber, after we finished, I had a meeting with, the main guy at the NFL Network at the time. And he said, would you like to work with the NFL Network in the future? And I said, do you guys think that you can work with me?

00:21:16

Right.

00:21:16

And he laughed. And he said, yeah.

00:21:17

You're right. And then I left. Was it Charlie Yuke? Was it Tom Brady?

00:21:21

Tom Brady. Yeah. But there's there's nothing on the NFL network where I could fit in without like, someone's getting in trouble for this, for sure. I

00:21:29

don't know. We're good. I think we're good so far. I I hope so.

00:21:32

So far. So far, but I've even got I've There were moments where we were

00:21:36

we were pitching television shows with the 2 of us. That's how it started. Like, oh, yeah. Maybe it could be, like, a Friday afternoon show, and it it ended up being a podcast that that you didn't get paid for. But it was meticulously planned.

00:21:49

Worked out great for you.

00:21:50

Anthony Anthony would, like, want every segment planned out. It was, like, we did more prep than than college.

00:21:58

You wanted to be prepared is what you're saying?

00:22:00

I mean, I'm extremely prepared for what we do, and that's why I'm excited about this this final segment we're gonna do.

00:22:05

If you had told me that we hadn't started taping yet, I would believe it. That's the way you run the show. If you have been, like, alright. Are you ready to go? I would be, like, okay.

00:22:13

We're normally we're normally talking about football, so this is a little different. It's a little something, extra. We're actually gonna take a quick break. We we made it this far in the show. Sure.

00:22:22

And we're gonna come back, and we're gonna do Jessel picks. The first Sure. And last time. Back on NFL daily, and this is it. This is the last thing that you have to do, Anthony, before you are on your Christmas break.

00:22:47

This sounds like the soundtrack to like the trailer of a movie where someone with an ax is walking through a hospital. That's what it seems like There's Christmas. Get ready.

00:23:00

I would see that.

00:23:01

Yeah. A real Christmas miracle.

00:23:03

Yeah. I don't have anyone to go with me, on Christmas this year. So,

00:23:06

make that movie for me so I can watch it at home. I saw, Gladiator 2. Go see that. Okay. Great.

00:23:14

It's great.

00:23:14

I would see that. And yes, yeah. Anthony has been touring this material for 2 years. I I was there when he was first kinda trying it out. That's the time when I like to jump in is when he's just doing those 15 minutes at the Comedy Store, which you'll probably be doing again soon when you start just working it up from scratch.

00:23:32

And that was that was more than 2 years ago. It was a journey that took you all around the world, biggest theater tour you had. Mhmm. Like, what was, I don't know. What was your most fun stop?

00:23:44

I mean, I mean, London was amazing. It was great to go back and see the progression. The first time I played London, I played for 70 people. The second time I went back a few years later, 400 people. And this was 35100 people.

00:23:57

Oh. So it was just like, wow. Like, they're responding. Berlin the last time I played Berlin, it was a 100 people sitting on the floor. This was 25100 people.

00:24:05

My parents were there. Like, that was crazy. It was it was great to just see the audiences responding to the last special. As a comic, you put out a new special, and you don't know how it how how well it does until you go on tour again. And then see people buy tickets.

00:24:19

It's like, oh, okay. They liked it. So it did it takes a few years.

00:24:22

That's cool.

00:24:22

And you It's not like you guys where, like, you do something and immediately people are like, you suck.

00:24:28

Instant gratification. Yeah. I mean, I know. I know right away. Like, what are you wearing?

00:24:32

What are you saying? Fire this person. Why do you have a job? Yeah.

00:24:36

Yeah. Yeah.

00:24:36

I just know.

00:24:37

Yeah. I

00:24:37

can take the temperature very easily.

00:24:39

And and you I remember, yeah, we were taping the last JRVP, and you said that that was the last thing you had to do as a part of this whole tour and promotion, and you you have a feature that that was done in Vulture. But, no, It's NFL daily, your home. That is the very last thing that you will do.

00:24:54

It's it's the big this is the cherry on top of the sundae.

00:24:57

Alright. So let's do it. It's time

00:24:59

Everything has led to this.

00:25:00

For Jessel pics.

00:25:01

Jessel pics.

00:25:02

This weekend is crazy. The 425 window has 2 of the very best games of the season in Steelers, Eagles, and Bills lines. Potentially, Super Bowl previous. We're gonna get to those in a second. But in terms of 2 games with teams with that high winning percentage, this late in the season, it has never happened in NFL history that 2 teams that, you know, 2 games that good are gonna happen at the same time.

00:25:31

But at the very same time, there's 2 other big time games. And, yes, we're into the segment of the show called Jessel picks. Both Colleen and I have to make picks in really high stakes environments. I do it against Cynthia Freeland. Mhmm.

00:25:45

And I do it on game debut. You do it on game day morning. You gotta come up with your upset picks. So we thought Anthony can help us make our picks this week.

00:25:54

Yes, please.

00:25:54

We're gonna start with Colts and Broncos. Now you might think Colts, Broncos, that's that's not that big a game. Oh, you're wrong. 6 of the 7 AFC wildcard spots are all but decided. Like, 94% chance to make the playoffs and up for 6 of those teams.

00:26:12

There's really only 1 spot left, and it is Colts as the underdog, the unofficial team of Colleen Wolf

00:26:18

for some reason. Every damn year.

00:26:20

Every year, she's always into the Colts. They're always a a little meh.

00:26:23

They always let me down.

00:26:24

And the Broncos, led by Sean Payton, who got rid of your boy Russell Wilson, didn't like him at all. That would be a spicy plan

00:26:31

how to use them.

00:26:32

Matchup. Didn't know how to use them. I mean, perhaps. If they win this game with their rookie quarterback, Beau Nicks, they're all but guaranteed to get that 7th spot, and the Colts are all but done. So it's sort of a loser goes home game at least for the Colts.

00:26:48

Colts, Broncos on Sunday, who do you like?

00:26:52

You know, I think it's gonna be a tough game. I think it's gonna go into overtime for sure. Mhmm. I'm thinking extra extra quarter, extra 10 minutes of play. I think Jesus Christ comes back at 5 minutes left, comes down on 50 yard line, introduces John Candy Oh, wow.

00:27:10

To the audience, who immediately spikes a football and tears down the goalpost.

00:27:16

So I mean, ratings would

00:27:17

Yeah. That would be a little

00:27:18

If the ratings are the winner. Uncle Buck too?

00:27:21

Like

00:27:21

Well, it's a tie. Macaulay Culkin's too old for Uncle Buck too.

00:27:25

So it's just a tie. It's it's the game is over at that point with the tie. Well, they that would be good actually for the NFL.

00:27:32

This is what my sources tell me.

00:27:33

Right. Both teams stay alive in that scenario. Like, it doesn't totally eliminate the Colts. Maybe they're in the mix. Yeah.

00:27:38

It's

00:27:38

very believable.

00:27:39

For the division, more than anything, it would be great for, like, the the post game shows. We have Chris Rose, for instance, doing our post game show on

00:27:48

We have Jesus on the side of Jordan. Network.

00:27:51

Is that? The highlights would be incredible.

00:27:54

Who do you think people wanna talk to more, Jesus or John Candy? So I'll tell you right now. You gotta you gotta wait in line behind me to talk to John Candy.

00:28:02

He's America's sweetheart. They're still playing Planes, Trains, and Automobile in the theater

00:28:07

It's a classic.

00:28:08

At the Arrow right near my house. I just doxed myself. Alright. Colleen. Okay.

00:28:14

Why don't you introduce this next game?

00:28:15

Alright. Bill's Lions?

00:28:17

Bucs chargers. Let's go Bucs chargers.

00:28:18

Bucs chargers. Okay. Bucs Chargers, the can the chargers beat a team with a winning record? That's sort of been their deal this year. They've had all of these close wins or losses, but they are only 1 in 4 against teams that are above 500.

00:28:35

And the Bucs, somehow, some way, they have been able to weather the storm without their wide receivers when Mike Evans and Chris Godwin were down. And now they all of a sudden are leading the NFC South. They are, a playoff team, and they wanna stay there. So what do you think here? The Chargers, they have the best scoring defense in the entire league.

00:28:57

Can the Bucks keep scoring against them?

00:29:00

I think I I think you're right in everything that you said. I believe that the Chargers are gonna win this game. I believe that Harbaugh is too big a psychopath

00:29:08

Yeah.

00:29:09

Not to, win this game. And I've been told by my sources that during pregame warm ups

00:29:18

Uh-huh.

00:29:18

That Justin Herbert is gonna go over to who's the Bucks quarterback? Baker Mayfield. Baker Mayfield and tear off his face. I've I've heard this.

00:29:28

He's gonna wear it.

00:29:29

He's gonna just tear it off and then keep it so he can't put it back on to play the game. He can still play.

00:29:35

That's savage move. Yeah.

00:29:36

It's a savage. It's a savage move. It's a hardball move.

00:29:38

It's kinda silly too. It would expose the Bucks. I think their backup quarterback is a gentleman by the name of Kyle Trask. I feel like that's advantage charges charges with. Mhmm.

00:29:51

I think I think you're right unless the charges backup quarterback, whose name I do not know, goes over and tears off his face.

00:29:58

That would be the move. But that would be tough to do.

00:30:00

Once you see somebody once you see 1 of your teammates tear off another guy's face, you wanna get in on that action.

00:30:05

Yeah. All bets are off.

00:30:06

Yeah. I I love that. I love that.

00:30:08

If I reached over right now and ripped off Greg's face, Collin, what's the first thing you're doing?

00:30:12

I try and rip your face

00:30:13

off.

00:30:13

Exactly. Every everybody knows. I I love that. I'm definitely taking charges because of that. Alright.

00:30:18

Packers, Seahawks, that's a Sunday night football game. Mhmm. Big game in the NFC. Seahawks, 1 of my favorite teams because of Geno Smith and and how he's resurrected his career, the high level he's playing at at 8 and 5. In 1st place of the NFC West, people didn't think they'd they'd be there.

00:30:40

Packers, in this weird spot in in the NFL right now. They're 9 and 4. You think that's great? That only makes them 3rd in the division. You lose this game, and who knows?

00:30:51

You might have to even start worrying about not making the playoffs at all. A tradition of quarterbacks unlike any other, from Brett Favre to Aaron Rodgers to Jordan Love. Do they go on the road Sunday night football and end the Seahawks winning streak?

00:31:09

I gotta tell you this right now, Seattle people, I'm sorry. Your stadium's too loud. It gets too loud. You guys need to shush it up a little bit. I'm trying to enjoy the game.

00:31:21

I think the Seahawks are gonna win. I think they're gonna win big. I think you're gonna see Aaron Rodgers on the sidelines with Joe Rogan Oh. Openly weeping throughout the game. Okay.

00:31:34

That's my prediction.

00:31:35

Now, he's not, you know, on the Packers, of course. He's just the enemy that God. He's just the fan.

00:31:39

The Packers. Yeah. Give anything to get back into a dark room and pick the pick the Packers again.

00:31:44

That that's that's your guy, Joe Joe Rogan. I mean, they're they're buddies, Aaron Rodgers. You're bud you were buddies back in the day. Right?

00:31:51

He's my best friend in the whole world. Okay. I talk to him every day.

00:31:54

It would be a viral moment.

00:31:55

You talk

00:31:56

to him more than Greg.

00:31:57

I talk to him more than Greg. Yeah. Greg's a texter where Rogan wants to talk. Mhmm. Rogan wants to say good morning.

00:32:03

You know, what are you gonna do today? Yeah. Daily affirmation kinda thing. Mhmm. That's a Rogan that's a Rogan move.

00:32:09

Greg's just like, I love you. Heart emoji. Mhmm.

00:32:11

Not to take too much of a a side tour here, but, are you gonna watch the Aaron Rodgers Netflix show, and have you seen the promo for it? Rogan's not on the promo.

00:32:22

I saw a promo where he's wearing, like it looks like he's wearing, like, sleep gear. I thought it was a joke. That's a real show.

00:32:29

Yeah. That's a show.

00:32:30

About Aaron Rodgers.

00:32:30

And it's called Enigma, and he, you know, helped produce it. Kinda 1 of those self made docuaries.

00:32:36

Called Enigma.

00:32:37

If you like, the remember when Aaron Rodgers was likable?

00:32:41

Remember when No. I can't remember back

00:32:43

in the car. He was likable so long ago, And then he's done everything. It's like he's been following a playbook on how to not be likable. That that I would if he was sacrificing himself for the greater good and we found out 1 day, I would believe it.

00:32:58

He's doing the opposite of Russell Wilson.

00:33:00

Oh, yeah. He's Yeah.

00:33:01

That's the opposite.

00:33:02

He got divorced from CR.

00:33:04

Mhmm.

00:33:04

Yeah. Yeah.

00:33:05

Didn't tell anyone about it.

00:33:07

Nope. I I couldn't agree more. You almost forget. Yeah. At at 1 point, like, Aaron Rodgers was the most exciting quarterback I've ever seen.

00:33:14

You're brutal for him.

00:33:15

And I didn't know that that much about him. And now I know way too much.

00:33:18

Remember when you the first time you got you got a hint that he was off his rocker?

00:33:23

I do. What was it for you?

00:33:24

60 minutes did a profile on him, and he meets a fan. And the fan goes, I thought you'd be taller. And Aaron Rodgers loses his mind. No. He loses his mind.

00:33:36

I do I really don't appreciate that. I don't appreciate I and the guy's like, oh, I'm you're you're, like, 61. I just thought you're, like, I don't appreciate that at all. And they left it in the interview, and then Aaron Rodgers got mad at 60 minutes for leaving it in. If you're over 6 feet tall Yeah.

00:33:51

And you're insecure about your height, I'm 62. A 65 guy can walk in here right now, nothing he can do to me. Alright. I'm a mortal. So if you're 61 and you're bothered about your height, something's weird.

00:34:02

Something's wrong.

00:34:04

What about if you're 56 rounding up?

00:34:07

That's fine. If you're below 6 feet, that's your world. You live in it.

00:34:10

Yeah. Yeah. That makes sense.

00:34:12

You're fine.

00:34:12

Wow. When was that?

00:34:14

It was a long time ago because people were surprised.

00:34:17

You were, like, ahead of things then.

00:34:19

I'm it's my sources.

00:34:20

Man, they are good.

00:34:21

I my my first hint that I remember off the top of my head was the Mina Kimes profile of him, which Mina is a lovely I know Mina. Human being, like, very smart. And it was a very nice profile of him, but there were just these little things in it that was just like, oh, yeah.

00:34:42

You're picking up on them.

00:34:43

The this guy. There there were there I guess there were more moments than that. Wait.

00:34:47

What was that? For me, it was when he was, like, oh, yeah. Green Bay, a a real vacation destination for people when they were trying to talk about, like, free agents coming in and Aaron Rodgers having more control. Just like, why what? Why the shot at, like, your, your team's base?

00:35:02

Really?

00:35:03

Yeah. Alright. Let's get back to Jessel picks. My Super Bowl pick before the start of the season was Bills and Lions. And if you're a regular listener to NFL daily, I haven't let you forget about it because it's looking good.

00:35:18

It is.

00:35:18

So you gotta just honk about it while it's looking good. Eric's Bills, I know they're like the 2 or the 3 seed right now, but to me, the best team in the AFC, the best quarterback in the NFL right now, Josh Allen. You got the lions. They've what? 10 straight.

00:35:36

They're everyone's favorite team in Detroit. This Sunday could be a Super Bowl preview. Those lions, Jess will pick that.

00:35:45

Look, I, smart money wants to say Lions. I think the Lions have been getting lucky and they've been getting cocky. It's kinda like the Chiefs. We're like, how long can I keep this up for? The Bills are coming off a loss Mhmm.

00:35:56

If I'm not mistaken. I think the Bills got everything to play for. But however, I think we've got a Dark Knight Rises situation. Where during the opening kickoff, the entire field explodes.

00:36:08

Oh my

00:36:08

god. And only the player returning the kickoff survives. Oh. Everyone else is gone.

00:36:13

A lot of death and destruction during the Jessel picks.

00:36:16

Yeah. Don't don't don't get into that well. That game late.

00:36:19

It's like that your sources seem

00:36:20

blows up Greg's pick too.

00:36:21

Keep hearing everything. Well, that's true. If it's a long term thing, that that would be a very lion's y way for the season to end.

00:36:29

It would

00:36:29

be. Just the the team is gone in the crowd potentially. But Hines Ward is okay. Wasn't Hines Ward blocking on that play?

00:36:35

Greatest Hines Ward player. Hines Ward Hines Ward scored and then turned around and was like, that was the best acting ever is when he turned around and saw that all his friends were dead, and he just dropped the football.

00:36:47

Love how it's worded. Let's let's wrap it up with with your game.

00:36:51

I mean, it's our game, I would say. Eagles and Steelers. The Eagles, they should be everything should be lovely, rosy right now. 9 straight wins. But, you know, here in the stuff that I explained to you about Jalen Hurts and AJ Brown, even though Saquon Barkley is absolutely crushing it, and when you just give him the ball, if you wanted to move the offense around, whatever.

00:37:12

Against the Steelers, your team that has been, I think, 1 of the biggest surprises this year because the expectations were a little bit lower than usual coming into the year because you didn't know what you had at the quarterback position.

00:37:23

I'll I'll say this, and I'm gonna I'm gonna kind of, I'm gonna kinda split the difference with you, Colleen. Okay.

00:37:28

Because I

00:37:28

know you're such a big fan. That's great. I believe that for all the reasons you just mentioned, 9 wins in a row, you can't maintain that.

00:37:35

Mhmm.

00:37:35

You got locker room drama, you can't maintain that. I believe the Steelers, even without Pickens, I think they've learned to play without Pickens. I think they're getting more inventive. I think the offense is getting more exciting. I think that the Steelers will win this game this weekend, but Mhmm.

00:37:52

I think that's a bad thing if we do end up matching up in the Super Bowl. I think whoever wins this game, if we play in the Super Bowl, will lose the Super Bowl. So I'm kind I'm rooting for the Steelers like the way you're rooting for the Eagles.

00:38:04

Uh-huh.

00:38:05

But if the Steelers lose, I'm not mad about it, because I know we're gonna come and take that trophy.

00:38:08

The rematch Yes. Is the 1 that matters.

00:38:10

Yes. I do believe these teams

00:38:12

are coming out into the Super Bowl. Wow. Yeah. So for Jessel picks where faces are getting ripped off, John Candy and Jesus are involved, the field explodes. But Steelers, Eagles, it's just like you're playing patty cake with Kalina.

00:38:28

We're both winners.

00:38:29

What happened to you.

00:38:30

You're not saying that.

00:38:31

Crazy in the game. What happened to your swords?

00:38:32

Jesus Christ is not like Santa Claus. He can't be everywhere at once. He can only be at the 1 game with John Candy.

00:38:40

That was Anthony Dessalnick. You gotta check out Bones and All.

00:38:45

Check out Bones and All. Watch it. Watch it.

00:38:47

If you don't like the first 15 minutes and how that

00:38:51

The first 15 minutes is brilliant. It's the first 15

00:38:54

minutes is the best

00:38:55

work I've ever done in my life. The rest of it's great too. But the first 15 minutes is the best work I've ever done in my life. This is my 5th hour of stand up comedy. If you people were like, oh, I watched the first 15, turn it off.

00:39:07

No, you didn't. You're just Joe Rogan fans and you're mad at me.

00:39:12

You getting a lot of that?

00:39:13

And all.

00:39:13

And, I'm getting a little

00:39:15

I haven't watched a lot of the the I haven't seen a lot of the the regular content.
