Testosterone does have multitudes of benefits. There are so many varieties of ways that it can benefit us, but why are so many people struggling?
What is the problem? Why is it that we see so many different types of issues? What's the main problem why people are using it wrong? Well, there's a multitude of problems, but there's one key problem that stands out above them all. Now, I am going to educate you on every single aspect that I have learned over the years and what I see is the most prevalent issue out there.
I'm Dylan Gemelli, your resident expert, the one that you come to to get facts straightforward, no BS. So let's talk about this. Let's look at this. First of all, low testosterone is becoming a bigger, more prevalent problem by the day. Why?
Well, it's the standard of living and everything that we're around. The quality of life has continuously degraded, whether it's processed food, poor living environments, poor living habits. Our bodies are meant to do certain things, get sex. Sunlight, move, be in stress-free environments, love, have positivity, have gratitude. Well, guess what?
All of the things that I just listed are some of the biggest problems that people are lacking in their lives, and that is just consistently showing in tests. When we see low testosterone levels, lower quality of life, more problems as people age, more people on medications, more people in hospitals. This has to stop. First things first, when it comes to testosterone, quality of life, we have to address the basics. Sleep.
Okay, that is huge. So many people struggling with their diets, eating poor diets, people that are under high levels of stress that aren't addressing their nervous system and basic needs, people that don't get sunlight, people that aren't moving. And yes, people that lack gratitude. And I will tell you, and people may not agree with this, people that are lacking God, if you don't have these things in your life, you're going to struggle., and it's then going to contribute and show into your blood panels, which will directly affect your testosterone. Certain things in life are inevitable, but they're fixable and they're preventable.
Lowering of testosterone as we age is just simply how our bodies are wired. The problem that I'm seeing is I see more and more people younger, younger, younger, having low testosterone issues at earlier stages of their life. And I'm not just talking about people that have used steroids. I'm talking about people that are just doing everyday life that should never have the levels that they have at such a young age. But see, what we see now is the standard on our ranges that just keep going like this when they should be going like this, because we should be looking for optimal, not average, because average anymore is substandard.
It's not even acceptable. But I see that and I see it more and more with younger guys having problems, unexplainable problems. You know why? Because people don't do things that they should with their lives. People that are stuck on social media, they sit there and that's all they do.
They don't move and they get inundated and that stresses them out and it creates problems. EMF problems. All of these things are contributing factors to low testosterone. Now women are starting to see it more and more too. Now there's a better understanding for women as they age that they need testosterone, but I'm seeing more women in their 30s and 40s also having low testosterone problems that should never have it happen.
Stresses and things that we're exposed to. We have to mitigate these and take care of ourselves because these problems are compounding and they're rearing their ugly head in everyday life. So we got that down. Now, what else is going on here? Well, one is there's so much bad information on testosterone.
People that just have polarized it up and down, left and right. The misunderstanding is one of the problems that leads into everything else. Bad education, and there's a lot of doctors that are uneducated and that are making severe mistakes on their doses, their recommendations. And there's a lot of anti-aging clinics that are strictly out for the money that are putting people on testosterone that don't need it. When people come to me and a lot of naturopathics like that I work with and really good strong endocrinologists that have a, a, a real deep understanding of how this works, the first thing that we do when somebody comes in with low testosterone is try to figure out the cause, not just put them on something to answer the question that they have.
Why is my testosterone low? No, no, no, no, no. We analyze blood panels. And I'm not talking basic blood panels. I'm talking intricate ones, ones that cover all the bases.
Just a, just a small example. You come in, you have low levels, and you say, Dylan, I need testosterone. I say, no, let's go over your lifestyle and let's look at different types of blood markers. Are you exposed to molds and toxins? What other key indicators are there that could be contributing to it?
One, SHBG. You could have an elevated SHBG level, sex hormone binding globulin, which is then bounding up free testosterone and then causing you to have lower levels. So all we have to do is go in and fix the problem, which will then release testosterone and boom, we're fixed. In most cases, not always, but there's always signs and symptoms that we can look at that could perhaps prevent us from putting you on testosterone because you don't want to take any medication that you don't need that's avoidable. These are last resorts.
We need to try to be preventable before we go that route. See, anymore, it's always a quick fix and an answer, a Band-Aid to a wound. And it's always something that you have to stay on forever. We want to avoid that. I am a firm believer and advocate for TRT.
When it's necessary. I see it used way more unnecessarily than I do when necessary. And that's a big, big problem. Now let me give you a little bit of education on different forms of testosterone as we get into the big, big problem, the main problem of why I'm seeing so many issues. This is where it starts. There's ester chains attached to testosterone that you inject.
Testosterone cypionate has a half-life of 7 to 8 days making it perfect and ideal for, you know, your, your TRT regimen. You can use other forms. There's short forms, longer forms, and that requires different injection cycle settings. Meaning if you're on a short ester, you may have to go every other day or every day for some. There's Sustanon, there's testosterone enanthate, all different half-lives with different requirements of injection cycles.
The problem that I see with a lot of doctors is they don't seem to grasp the concept of peak and trough, which means they're putting people on regimens where they take an injection and they peak, but then they feel horrible as they trough because there's no key line here. I look for stability and balance. So what I do is, for example, people like cipionate because it has that 7 to 8 day half-life. So they say, oh, well, I only have to inject this once a week. The problem is, is you go on this downhill and towards the end of the week you don't feel good.
You wanna feel good all the way through. So misunderstanding about how to use these is prevalent. There's different forms of testosterone. There's gels, there's pellets. Now there's Kaisertrex, which is an oral form, which actually is quite good.
I actually have learned quite a bit from the founder of Kaisertrex, and I've interviewed him on my podcast, and there's a lot of efficacy there, and I'm trying it now and it works quite well. But once again, that's an everyday thing because it's in capsule form and it There's a different process of your body processing it. So understanding half-lives and how your body's reacting to them is key because why are you taking a medication that's supposed to be fixing you if it's making you feel like garbage all day, which is a whole nother video topic on all the medications that people put you on now. But we're going to, we're going to stick with testosterone today. So the biggest problem of all is misuse and dosing.
People have no understanding of dosing. They're either using way too much or too little. I'm going to break this down for you, and this is generalized for most. Now, people that have severe hypogonadal conditions or their body's not absorbing properly or have bad quality testosterone, this may not apply to. In general, let's say you take 100mg a week.
You should expect your total testosterone number to be 5 to 7 times whatever you're dosing. More often than not, it's going to be closer to the 7 times. So if you're doing 100mg a week, you should expect to be between 500 to 700 on your total testosterone number, give or take. Everybody's a little different, but that's pretty standard. Now, if you go too low, then I think it's obvious you're not seeing the results.
You're having low quality of life. You're going to get the side effects of low testosterone, which are inability to gain muscle, inability to lose weight, low libido, tired, lethargic, inability to focus. Sometimes even suicidal, stressed, they're inflammation heavy. These are all prevalent problems with people suffering from low testosterone. But what about using too much?
Like the bros will recommend and say it's okay, no problem. Well, there's a big problem when you walk around with supra physiological doses or levels of testosterone. You're putting strain on your heart and your body. It's too much. It's too long.
And it will 1 million percent shave years off of your life. And it can for some do it very, very quickly. And there's a lot of other things that can go wrong potentially with your heart, your prostate, all kinds of different issues. Now, there's been fearmongering over TRT use where they've tried to say in the past that you could experience some of those problems, and that has been proven false when you're using it properly. But see, one of the things that the bodybuilders and the steroid users will tell you is that it doesn't matter.
And that, that's, oh, they don't know, they're not steroid users, they're not huge. What do they know? Yeah, the guys that get huge, that end up dying young, that end up shriveling up into nothing, and all they care about is getting big. That's not who you want to listen to at all. I've been through that for years with people.
Now it's to the point where you do whatever you want to do. I work with the best of the best all around the world. The people that are actually scientists that actually know what happens to people, not the bros that have maybe one functioning brain cell left from all the shit that they've used. When you use too high of levels of testosterone, you will start to have a much higher rate of estrogen conversion, chances of hormonal imbalance and changes. So things like acne are gonna show up a lot more prevalently.
And for women especially too, too high, you're gonna see abnormal hair growth, possible male attributes. And men, you are gonna accelerate your hair growth, which you may not wanna do. You may want to do, I don't know. But more aggression, more behavioral changes. And think about this too.
This is another thing. If you're using testosterone that you don't need, for example, that creates what we call suppression. What does that mean? A shutdown of your natural testosterone production where you start producing so much that your body forgets to produce it, stops producing it. And then what happens?
Well, that throws your body into a haywire. And then what you go through is as you come off, if you decide to come off, And these are people that jumped on it and then realized they didn't need it or wanted to stop using it. Well, to try to jumpstart your natural testosterone production, that's in itself is quite difficult as you've stayed on longer, especially as you've aged. And if you have any prior steroid use, drug abuse, alcohol use, all of these contributing factors, people will use Clomid, Novadex, and clomiphene, even HCG, to try to jumpstart their natural testosterone production. I have seen people recover it, yes, but it'll never be as efficient as, as it once was, and chances are high it's not gonna do it for for you.
Your quality of life's probably gonna be low. Is it impossible? No. But is chance, chance of really resolving back to where you were? Very, very little.
Keep this in mind too. If you use testosterone and don't need it, you're gonna really, really, really hinder your likelihood of having children. Is it a guarantee you can't? No. It only takes one.
I've seen plenty of people have children, but it really makes it a lot more difficult. But misusing, misdosing, misdosing, that's the biggest problem that I see. And people are really harming themselves and in some cases killing themselves, but certainly shortening their lifespan by using too much. Don't listen to people that don't have an understanding, that have one motivation in mind, which is to get huge. That is not who you want to follow and listen to when it comes to this.
I'm not saying I know everything because I do not, but I do know this because I've observed it now for 20 years and I've coached people and I've seen all the problems in the world. Misuse, most specifically misdosing testosterone is the biggest and most prevalent problem I see. That being said, stay tuned for plenty more to come. Dylan Gemelli signing off.
