Welcome back to Good Follow, man. I am Juju Gotti, joined by my sister as always, Trista Crick. How are you doing, sis?
I'm good, Juju. I'm excited for this WNBA season to start.
You already know we presented by DraftKings. You got to know we presented by DraftKings, and you got to know The Crown Is Yours. If you don't know, now you do know. Also, if you didn't know, the season tip off this damn week, ladies and gentlemen. How do you feel? Was the offseason as long as it felt?
It did feel long. It felt long, but it also felt short because that damn CBA was hovering over us like a gray cloud. So now that we got these teams somewhat put together, as rosters start to solidify, I got questions. I think I got questions for every team.
Yeah, well, let's start with the reigning champs and Queen Wilson and them girls. The Death Star moving towards your damn team every damn game because these girls seem inevitable. Excuse me, pardon me, these women seem inevitable. What do you think about the reigning champs this season?
I'm gonna tell you what, this team adding Kennedy Carter makes a lot of damn sense in terms of depth. My big question, Juju— yeah, age. Not of Asia, but out of the point guard and out of Jewel Lloyd and a little bit out of Jackie. We saw it last year where it was catching up with them. They were looking gassed. Becky Hammond was in they ass. Are we gonna see anything like that, or are they gonna pick up from last season where they left off, bro?
I think they're gonna pick up right where they left off, bro, because it don't matter who go down, somebody get injured, they draft right, man. They, they whole roster seems as though they're ready. You got to know. And Kennedy Carter, man, she's a switchblade. Like, she— like, whoever goes down on your team, a swish blade, swish blade, you feel me? That's how we call it on, on the west side, a swish blade. You got to know. But I think she is that switchblade who go down. I don't give a damn if a forward go down, you can put Kennedy right there because guess what she gonna do? Be Ken. You got to know. And also too, Cheyenne Parker-Tyas, like last year she was coming back from having the baby. We getting a healthy Cheyenne Parker-Tyas this year, so I think they gonna be all right.
Love that. What about the Lynx? Nafissa Collier just out of a scooter, she's now in a boot. When does she come back? They say June. But my big question is, are all the women who left the team— do they know something we don't?
Bruh, did you see what Nafissa Collier said too? She also said like today or so, uh, that the WNBA, the fouls, this is becoming too tough. I'm not sure, I gotta get the quote.
Too physical. The game is too physical, bruh.
This is the first time I've seen anybody say anything against Queen Fee online. So I don't know. I do think the— at certain times, like last year in the playoffs, she definitely got injured and is still recovering from definitely a foul that may or may not have been called. You did— Cheryl went crazy. You saw Cheryl. I ain't never seen Cheryl act like that, you feel me, bro? So it's like, damn. Oh yeah, and DJ, look, you're 3G. She held the— she held the damn, uh, towel up and they switched the camera angle on the ass.
Yeah, I mean, if I was Fia, I'd be thinking the same thing, to be honest. Like, you— yeah, you pretty much missed your entire Unrivaled— you missed your entire Unrivaled season. You're gonna miss the first month of the WNBA season. It messed up the entire flow. Your GMs don't even put you on their top players in the surveys anymore. They don't have you on Defensive Player of the Year survey. They don't have you on MVP survey. They don't have you on the survey of players you would start a franchise with. She is nowhere in that bitch. And if I was her, I'd be like, all of this happened because Alyssa Thomas doesn't have no damn sense with where she throws her body around.
Look, man, salute to AT, man. We don't want no smoke, sis.
No smoke.
Look, I know the shoulders might not work, but I know them hands do. So we don't want no smoke. But yeah, bro, I think— but unfortunately, man, I just can't get off this, bro. Like, pause. I think that Lauryn Betts was right there, man. And I think Olivia Miles is her— she is a legend, she is the queen. Come on, great woman. But damn if I don't see an all-star in the making in Lauryn Betts, at least from this preseason. That's way too early. Who am I? The preseason means nothing to some people. But sis look phenomenal, bro. What you think? Did they pick the right person in Olivia Miles? I love Olivia.
I think her and Phi together will be tremendous. But the question is, is how long is Phi going to be on this team? Let's move forward to Dallas I know I just slipped that right in and just moved right on by.
Hey yo, and also get well soon, Darka Yuhas. You feel me? Get well soon because they gonna miss her. She's a presence. So big Darka salute, man. But moving on, like you say, to the Wings. The Wings, man, they got a lot of damn guards, bruh, for the team called the Wings.
Broken wings, let me fly again, bruh.
I'm talking about they got guards if you need them, they got them. Big Paige, big AZ, B. Arike, B. Odd, Odyssey Sims, bro. Who else they got?
Isaiah.
Isaiah, come on, bro. They ain't gonna guard it up. Exactly. One question I have for the Dallas Wings: who gonna guard Asia? I look up and down the Golden State right now. Y'all got some explaining to do, bro, because I, I want to cut y'all some slack, I really do, but I don't understand these draft moves. I got to pull it back up. Because you traded Flagey for, uh, Lil Sis.
Oh, Martha Suarez.
And now you drop Martha Suarez, and now she's, uh, signing with a developmental contract with the Mercury. What in the hell is going on, bro? Like, somebody need to answer a question or five because I just don't understand that. Maybe I am extremely ignorant to this process. Maybe I don't know how this stuff works. But I'm putting my hand up and I'm asking for some understanding. What in the hell is going on?
Why do they tell us their rationale like we're the dumb ones?
Exactly. Damn, my bad.
And also, they then it comes out that they didn't know the damn CBA, and so they thought that they could sign, which we think the rumor is that they were trying to sign Natasha Cloud. And they thought that they could cut Marta Suarez and save some money on the cap space and then get Natasha Cloud, and they couldn't do it. And so now they cut Marta Suarez for no reason, and now Marta Suarez is on a development contract on the goddamn Mercury. What the fuck?
This is goofy as hell. You just traded Flau'jae, a damn like an icon damn near, Bitfoe, excuse me, pardon me, for nothing in my opinion.
Like, for nothing.
Like, was it a conversation that had to do with you guys not trusting Big Foe? Like, do we need to have a further conversation? Like, somebody talk to me because I'm not understanding. This math is not math. Talk to me, sis. Talk to me.
Let me just say this. I'm gonna say it without saying it. Yeah, it just— it's giving, you know what I mean, man?
Look, look, look, we gonna move on, bro. We love the W, so we trying to shine y'all in the best Yeah, we just need to— we need somebody to get in front of a microphone and, and say this in layman terms to the ones who don't understand, because come on now. But moving on, bruh, to the Phoenix Mercury, bro, who a lot of folk keep leaving. No Satu this year. I, I didn't like necessarily how they handled Natasha Cloud when she left. Like, why nobody don't necessarily stay in Phoenix? Like, I understand Bit, DBZ, DeJuan Bronner, and ATZ, and Uh, uh, K-Cott, I already know y'all gonna, gonna link it up. But folk be leaving, uh, Phoenix for some reason. What you think about them this year?
I know Satu— why did Satu leave after one year? She got there, she was excited to go there, she left Dallas. By the way, she could probably D up a little Asia Wilson if she would have been in Dallas. And, uh, now she's over, uh, in New York because who knows, is it too hot? Is it the— is it the lack of humidity? Do you feel like your skin is in an oven? Do we not like Nate Tibbetts? Do we not like— what do we not like about Phoenix?
Exactly, bro. Because like I said, how they handled Tasha, they told Tasha she was going to be there. They told Tasha she was one of them ones for them and then dealt her to Connecticut. Let's not let that slip out of history because Tasha ended up in the right place in New York. But them folks traded her to the damn Connecticut Suns. Salute to the Suns, you already know I love you. If anybody mess with the Connecticut Suns, I mess with you. But come on now, a legend like Tasha didn't deserve that after somebody done actually told them with their own mouth, you're, you're here for us, we, we love you, we love you for the future. So yeah, Phoenix, I don't know, bro, I don't know it, so I can't speak on it, but I got my eyes on your ass.
That's right, that's right. Let's go to the LA Sparks, Juju. It's a bad— it's a team full of baddies, it's a team full of excitement. Nneka returns.
Yes, sir.
And we got Cam Brink. Is Cam Brink still engaged or not? She took the ring off, she took the ring on. But who is guarding Asia?
Salute to my sister E Weezy. You got to know I love you. But moving on to what I would like to call my sleeper team, because where there's some type of will, there's some type of damn way. If What he say? He might not come when you want him, but he gonna be there right on time. And if somebody else goof up Flau'jae's situation, as long as you there ready to pooper scoop and handle it the right way and treat her like the queen that she is, my guy, my girls, my non-binaries, the Seattle Storm, look out, bruh, because they still got Big Dawg. They still added A'Waa. You did. Come on. And now they got Big Four along with the rest of the roster they already had. Like, dog, up and down that roster, I don't see too many weaknesses. Uh, little sis talking about getting her confidence back.
Zia Cook looks really, really good. Exactly. Really, really good.
You feel me? And she's speaking from a place of like, yo, I'm finding my love back of basketball type.
And let's see, you Look at Zia Cooke even in high school before she went to South Carolina, was one of them ones with snatching souls, snatching ankles, snatching hearts and minds. So don't even play with me. Zia Cooke has the chance to be really special as a piece. The question is, does Ezi want to be there? As he's now talking about being traded— hey, you're making a million dollars, what, you don't want to play with Dom and Awa? Or you feeling like you're getting squeezed out? Take the money, Ezi, take the money.
Look, I'm gonna tell you like I tell my folks, play with me if you want, Cash Money going broke. I'm sorry, sis. Is it, uh, I'm so sorry, what's your contract say, little sis? I'm so sorry. They say we got you until when? That's how I'm handling these conversations when I'm in the front office. I understand you might want to go play with your little homegirls over there. I get it. Yeah, I see. I know the grass look green over there, but we don't sign this contract, and unless they send something over here that makes sense for somebody that matches Ezi Magbodor, the Ezi, that can get on them boards, that can get in the paint, that can get you a bucket, that can knock down a jumper, that can, bruh, and defend block on block on block. Ain't nobody doing it with blocks as he is. So I'm so sorry, sis, if you unhappy, but we got to make it make sense before even we— before we even entertain that thought. Because you sis are one of them ones.
Juju, certified ball knower. The question that I have: are the Portland Fire certified ball knowers, or are they actually playing chess when everybody else is playing checkers, AKA getting the jersey swap AI image ready for Juju Watkins?
Bruh, I don't know. This above my pay grade. I wish I knew though, because just like last year, we thought that Ah, this is cute, Golden State Valkyrie. Okay, they got a team now, let's see them try to compete. Oh no, no, no, no, no, no, no, they were whooping feet last year. They ended up in the playoffs last year, you dig it? So I'm not necessarily sure. I ain't gonna guess because Portland might just come out kicking ass for all I know.
I've seen them in the preseason, Juju, it's not looking good. They just traded Somebody, I believe they traded Chloe Bibby for a player that's not in the league anymore. And she's currently living in Detroit, Michigan, working at a golf shop, golf, golf course pro shop. Yeah, that's not a fake. That's not a fake story. That's what they just did.
Right?
She works in a pro shop.
And guess what? We still respect everybody at all levels. You did. Salute to them. Before we get up out of here on this though, The Chicago Sky have zero of their 2025 draft picks on the roster right now. I— they cooking over there. They signed big Tasha Cloud. They did the right thing, like Spike Lee. But they are also doing other things that are distracting me. What in the hell are— I mean, where is Hailey gonna end up? What say ye, T?
The whole team is— I'm a loudmouth, say what I want to say. That's them, man. You got Tosh, about as loud as they get, got in my DMs calling me all kinds of crazy. Oh, oh yeah, big, big Tosh didn't like that I reported what I heard about what was happening with their contract. Got into the DMs, said, how dare you? Uh, tell me what my value is. I said, I'm not telling you what your value is, I'm just telling you what I heard. I'm telling the world what I heard. I don't— it's not me. I want you to get paid a milli. It's not me. I heard you're— I heard you got offered a half a million, you turned it down. If that's wrong, come tell me the other way. Went crickets on me, then took the $550,000 from the Chicago Sky. You know, it's just you can't win for losing when you're trying to spread the word of the gospel of the WNBA, Juju. Then you got obviously Skylar Diggins. She says what she wants to say. We already got the Jeff Pagliuca said, I'm terrified of having conversations with Skylar Diggins if she's not getting what she wants.
You got Rekia. Rekia is on no bullshit. This is literally her comeback summer. I'm not messing with no mediocre men treating me like dirt. It's, it's ones on site if you want to end up treating me below what I think I need. So you got multiple stuff going on here. Dijonay, Dijonay, she's in the middle of a love triangle with the Aces. I don't know what the hell is going on. I mean, that place is a mess.
That's my sister, Trista Crick. I fight for her, you feel me? She my dog, you know, just anybody touch her, I'm gonna have a problem. But it's like, Tasha Cloud is my dog. And so I'm always respect Tasha Cloud. You should feel like— if you feel a certain way, then we just gotta— we gotta have more conversations. Absolutely.
Let her know, hey, nobody's trying to diminish you. I'm actually a fan. Yeah, for sure, for sure.
We understand. But I know it'd be— it'd be tough times. This stuff is real.
So times when you're trying to get paid, you're not sure if you're gonna stay in the league, right?
Right. So, so try to extend my sis a little understanding, you feel me? That's what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna send my sis some understanding. And guess what else I'm gonna send my sis? Love and happiness, because she did get that contract. Hello, get her bread!
Get your bread!
Say what we want to say, but hello, you dig it? Meet me at Magic City. Hello, you dig it?
But lemon pepper wings on you.
Hello. It's now time for the DraftKings Pick of the Week, presented by DraftKings. This week we are watching the Dallas Wings take on the Indiana Fever. And on Indiana, I will be watching Big Aaliyah Boston. Excuse me, pardon me, Mrs. Aaliyah Boston. Excuse me, pardon me, Big Sis Aaliyah Boston. Just casting at the B-A-N-K, Aaliyah Boston, because I don't know who in the hell on the other side is gonna guard her.
Not sure, Juju. On Dallas though, I'm gonna be watching maybe one of the more improved players coming up in the WNBA, and Maddie Segrist in the end though. So I'm picking the Wings to win it. They already put belt to ass on the Fever, and why not do it again?
And this segment is presented by DraftKings. DraftKings, the crown is yours.
Atlanta Dream! Atlanta Dream!
Yeah, and guess what?
Atlanta Dream!
The remix just hit the, uh, the stores right now, you feel me? Atlanta Dream remix is called, uh, Let's Go Atlanta Dream, right now available on iTunes everywhere. We had to add Angel Reese to the verse, you got to know, man. We may as well start there on the East, man. The Atlanta Dream, what do you foresee? Is it gonna be a dream or a nightmare? Salute to Meek Mill.
Listen, I think, Juju, and I want to get your perspective more than I want to hear my own, is that I just don't know how impactful Asia— or Angel, excuse me— will be by herself if Breanna Jones doesn't come back and Angel needs to play the full Time 5, that's a downgrade. No matter what you want to slice it and dice it, you lose BG. Breonna Jones, we'll see when she comes back. And to me, that's the big question mark.
Yeah, I think though, they did luck up in the draft and get Okot, you feel me? Because she is— she came up from Dawn, and you know Dawn gonna at least have you in all the kind of shape, and she gonna have you in all kind of mental awareness. And I think she could prove to be a good backup for Angel, or sometimes side by side with Angel. It's just according to the expectations you can allow yourself to put on a rookie. You did, right? I'm willing to have patience with Lil Sis, so however she comes, I'm gonna be straight with it. But at the same time, I don't know, because you put her next to Ryan, Big Al, Jordan Nah, she shoots 3s now too.
Uh, Ocot was hitting them for South Carolina. Let's move on to the Liberty though. Um, damn, Sabrina tore up her ankle. My biggest question is, is it serious?
I don't know. Either way it goes, New York Liberty always gonna be serious, man. I don't like how they did my sister Tasha Cloud. I'm not ready to talk about Liberty just yet. Moving on to the Indiana Fever. Will it work this year? They went to the chip last year. No, Caitlin. Now they got sis back. Is this their year?
Uh, I think it's— I think they obviously took, uh, the Aces to the brink in the semis, and that was probably the, the most cohesive a team that has so many injuries has ever been. Kelsey Mitchell, if she doesn't get rhabdo and have to leave the game, I think they could have even beaten the Aces with a healthy Caitlin Clark. It's all about how Monique Billings and some of the new added folks in acclimate. Also, Raven Johnson is now my new favorite WNBA player of all time. I love her spirit.
I, I still don't understand how Odyssey Sims can give you that performance in the finals and you not keep her. I'm, I'm sorry, man, just from loyalty standpoint, look what sis did. But moving on, man, um, do we want to go Toronto? I don't got no expectations for Toronto. Do you have any for them?
No, I have zero for them. All the— all I want to say about Toronto is keep your eye on them. They're a crash out away from being a Chicago Sky. Let's talk about the DC Mystics though, because I think they're the funnest team in all of the W. The young guns, Rockefeller, bang bang, we get down baby, we get down, bruh.
They got away with highway robbery. I don't give a damn what's your idea of the Mystics when you see that jersey is. They got the chip in 2019. Salute to Della Donne, salute to Tasha Cloud. At the same time, this is a new era now. This is something new. They got Sonya Citron, they got Lauren Betts, they got Shakira, they got Kiki, bruh. They, bruh, they got Georgia, you feel me? Georgia is scary, bruh. Look out for them. They another— they the sleeper team from the East, in my opinion.
They got Lauren Betts, they got, uh, Cody McMahon, they got player on player, they got Angela Dugaleach. They got all of your favorite players from college.
Yeah. You got to know, man. But guess what? They got away with robbery. Minnesota Lynx, man.
I'm—
but you know what, man? That's gonna do it for this episode of Good Follow, man. Thank y'all so much for locking in with the kids, man. Any last words you got for the, for the boys and the girls and my non-binaries?
