00:02:41

Yeah.

00:02:43

00:02:56

Yeah, part of my take. Welcome to Part of My Take presented by DraftKings. The crown is yours. Today is Wednesday, October 28th, and the Tampa Bay Rays have survived an execution, a stay of execution, PFT. We have one more World Series game. We stayed up to coronate the Milwaukee Brewers. I had all the stats. I was going to talk about Aaron Ashby being 15 innings now he's pitched in the postseason and he hasn't given up a run. He was pissed to come out of that game. William Contreras, all these guys, the rookie Cooper hitting that home run, which was just insane.

00:03:42

Yeah.

00:03:42

Coop Pratt. You thought that— you thought the game was— you thought the series was over right there. But the Rays did it. They found a way. It was started with an error in what inning were we even in? Was it the 13th? What inning was that?

00:03:53

12th.

00:03:54

The—

00:03:54

started with an error in the 12th and they finally, they almost, they actually did a half inning of Brewers baseball where they started hitting the ball and, and, and moving runners over. So the Rays survive one more day, even though I think the Brewers have this thing sealed up after an insane Monday night where they were just awesome. And they had one of the best innings in like World Series history where, did they string together 7 straight hits or something?

00:04:20

Yeah, it was the 5th inning of, of Game 3. I, I think it was maybe the 2nd best 5th inning of all time in World Series history behind only the Yankees' 5th inning where they committed all those errors a couple, couple years ago.

00:04:32

Yeah. But that was pretty good. Yeah. But that Monday night it felt like, okay, it's over. They had, they had Bobby Diesel, Robert Gasser on the mound for the Brewers. He's also not, I think he's given up 1 earned run his postseason. He's pitched 3 times and they just, that 5th inning was insane. The stat was flying around 175 pitches that the Brewers saw and they had 13 swings and misses. That's how good they were. Yeah. But then tonight happened and we have one more World Series game. Do we, do the Rays have a chance?

00:05:07

Well, yeah, the Rays have a chance. The Rays have a chance in the same sense as like they have to go out there and actually play a game of baseball. They'll have a chance for like 2 hours. No, I mean, the Brewers, they've got everything set up. I don't know who the Rays are going to pitch. They just kind of went fuck it mode. We have to win this game, which I get. You don't want to get swept in the World Series. So they just, they said, that's a future us problem.

00:05:31

Yeah.

00:05:31

We'll figure out who's going to pitch for us tomorrow morning. Whoever's arm feels good, just like let me know and we'll roll the ball out there and see what we got. But they just said, yeah, we're not going to lose this one. And they almost, I mean, it was, it was a good game. The thing about this World Series, I'm glad that it's not over. It sucked that like, I didn't want it to go this late tonight just because it would've been nice to have a nice clean 9-inning win for the Rays. But I want the series to keep going because it's been very, very fun baseball to watch. It's everything that I personally like about baseball.

00:06:00

Yeah.

00:06:00

It, it's, it's a lot of small ball, but it's also like, I don't know, we need to figure out a different term for what the Rays do because, and, and the Brewers do because it's not like traditional small ball. But it's, it's like more exciting, better base running, a lot of strategy, and there's always something going on. Like, it's, it's a very, very exciting brand of baseball, and I'm gonna, I'm gonna miss it when it's over. So I did not want to sweep. So thank you. I am a temporary racist, and just keep it going. Give me like 2 more games. Yeah, we're all a little racist sometimes, right?

00:06:33

Yeah, the— it's, yeah, it's, it's not small ball. It's, it's situational hitting. It's, you know, guys coming up in big moments. I mean, it feels like the entire Brewers lineup has had a big moment throughout this World Series, throughout this postseason. Sal Freilich, we talked about him on Saturday night. He had the big moment. Cooper Pratt tonight. So yeah, it just, it just, it just got in. Like, you know, you know what it was? We had Eric Hosmer on Wake Up Barstool this morning. Hos is the absolute best. And Max, you probably can speak to it, but he said that what the Brewers do better than anyone, any other team is they have a true 9v1 approach at the plate where every single guy has got the exact same like set. Like they're like, hey, Freddy Peralta, he's gonna try to pitch, he's gonna try to throw heaters high. We're all gonna lay off of them. And like everyone's gonna do the same thing and not let him off the hook and give him any free outs where it's like not one guy's not coming up and being like, you know what, I'm gonna swing at the first pitch.

00:07:37

I'm gonna fucking be free swinging. They all are locked in and doing the exact same thing and it makes it hell on pitchers to have to deal with because it's like you can't just navigate a lineup being like, oh, this guy, I can, he's gonna, he's gonna chase something. He's gonna, he's gonna swing at the first pitch. They all are locked in and doing the same thing. It's Vogelbach. He's, he's an unbelievable hitting coach. Do you see it, Max?

00:08:00

Yeah.

00:08:00

They're like, we, you watch it all the time in baseball. It's, it's, it's uncompetitive at-bats from, or non-competitive at-bats from 85% of teams out there. And Guys who just have a similar approach and are going up there with, with like a plan in place makes so much of a difference in these games when it gets tight like this. Because as you can see, the defense gets a little tight when it's a World Series, when you're, when you're trying to compete to win the big one. It's not as easy as it is in the regular season. So like just getting the ball in play and making good defenders make plays. is different in the World Series.

00:08:38

That's how the inning started. I don't know if I've talked about this, but along the same lines of not swinging at the first pitch, I've noticed that when they do swing at the first pitch, they almost always get a hit.

00:08:50

Yeah.

00:08:51

It's almost like everybody's waiting on the same pitch and they've got that 9v1 where it's like, we know what we're going to do. Because when they do, because I've noticed that occasionally they will. I think they have probably the lowest rate of swinging at first pitches, but when they do jump on one, It's like they, they know exactly what they're looking for.

00:09:09

Hmm.

00:09:10

No, I'm, I'm just joking. I, I actually, I can't stand that we live in a world now, cuz this happened. The Houston Astros fucked it for everyone. This happened last year with Cignetti when Indiana won a national championship. This is happening right now with the Brewers when they're just being beasts at the plate. Teams can't just be good anymore. They gotta be cheating. If they're too good, they're cheating. It's bullshit. They're not cheating. They're just really fucking good. And it's okay to just be like, hey, a team is really good. It doesn't— not every single answer has to be someone's cheating. Fuck the Astros. They did that.

00:09:45

Or Pepperdine.

00:09:45

You know, you know, that's not what I was saying though, right? What I'm saying—

00:09:47

Yeah. No, no, I, I know. I was joking. I was joking.

00:09:49

Yeah. Right. I, I, I think that whatever their scouting department is, whatever their coaching tells 'em, I think they all know what they're looking for. And it's like, if the, if you see this pitch, then fucking swing at it because we're, we're prepared for that. But they, they rarely do swing at that first pitch.

00:10:05

Mm-hmm.

00:10:06

It's also a scouting report. Like they could have, they're very, they're both very well coached teams and they could just have an approach up there. It's like, this guy likes to start with this pitch. We're sitting on this pitch only. And if we see it outta the hand, we're attacking. So like that goes into these 2 teams are just very well coached and that has a lot to do with it.

00:10:25

Yeah.

00:10:25

Yep.

00:10:26

But shout out to Rays. They, they found a way. Like, I did not think— I, I actually, I thought they were dead in the 4th, 4th inning. The 4th inning, they went up 2-1. And remember I was talking about it on Sundays, like, one of the, the, the, the things that the Brewers do that is just like a such a championship style thing that they do is they always answer. If, if, if the team scores, they will always answer. They'll always put up a, a run the next inning. So the, the 4th inning, I think it was the bottom of the 4th, the Rays scored and then the Brewers scored in the next inning. And I was like, you could kind of see the panic on the Rays' face. Like, oh shit, here we go. We had a lead for like 2 seconds and now we're back to tied. And so credit to Rays cuz I thought they were dead there and they kept on fighting and they're a really good baseball team. I don't think they're as good as the Brewers. I think the, this series is probably gonna be over Wednesday night, especially with the pitching setup and the fact that the Brewers have Miz and the Rays.

00:11:25

I were gonna start Martinez, but he pitched 2 innings tonight. But hey, guess what? They still got a shot. They still got a shot. We got more World Series.

00:11:33

Yeah. And I need there to be, I need there to be more baseball. I don't wanna think about what's gonna— how about this? Can we make a rule? Let's wait a full episode after whoever wins the World Series, one full episode where we don't talk about the impending, uh, lockout that's coming for baseball.

00:11:52

What if I do this? I got my mini Cubs bat right here. What if we do this, PFT? What if we say there's just not gonna be a lockout?

00:11:59

Or else.

00:12:00

Because that's what I'm gonna do.

00:12:01

Let's make some threats.

00:12:02

I'm going to be the guy who is just oblivious, head in the sand, and say they'll figure it out. They'll figure it. There's too much at stake. They'll figure it out. It's not 1994 anymore. They'll figure it out. So that's what I'm going to do. And I'm pretty confident in that. Maybe not this season, but they're going to play baseball next year. You know what? Big cat guarantee.

00:12:29

You're on team nothing ever happens.

00:12:31

Yeah.

00:12:31

It'll happen.

00:12:33

Yeah.

00:12:33

It's good. They'll sit down at some point and be like, you know what, guys? Well, we're not— we're making a lot of money here. Let's keep making a lot of money here.

00:12:42

They're gonna accidentally figure out, uh, that they're gonna start like right after basketball season's over, and that's the perfect time to start baseball season.

00:12:49

Yeah, they're also— I'll say this to, to, to the, the base, big baseball, uh, all the owners, everyone, Jeff Passan— if there's no, if there's 0 days missed, I'm swinging my little Cubs bat. If there's 0 days missed, I'm gonna be pissed that there's the little boy that cried wolf. You could never say it again. I'm not saying I'm gonna be happy that there's baseball. I'm saying you guys can't do this anymore. We can't sound the alarms anymore.

00:13:16

I don't like that you're even saying that. If there, if there's no days missed, that would be great. I, I don't know.

00:13:21

It would be great, Max, but there's gotta be some heads to roll in terms of people saying like for the last 5 years being like, ah, it's coming, it's coming, it's coming. I'm—

00:13:30

I like this theory that like how the Weather Channel, they started naming all the storms like winter storms because they figure out that that gets better ratings.

00:13:37

Mm-hmm.

00:13:37

Like we're, we're looking at Jeff Passon, and the, uh, the Nightingales of the world, and they've been talking about this upcoming stoppage just so that they can get more clicks on their little social media profiles.

00:13:47

Mm-hmm.

00:13:48

Because they're, they're all doom and gloom about everything. Um, I would like to blame it all on them. That's a good way to look at it. Uh, I would like to offer Scott Boras and Rob Manfred a pizza party if there's no games missed. How about that? You do it. You do the stick. I'll do the carrot.

00:14:04

Love that.

00:14:04

Love that.

00:14:05

Yeah, I'm gonna whip you with my little Cubs bat. By the way, shout out our guy Jeff Passan, uh, dunking on that weirdo who took took a picture from him, of him, like, from 100 feet away and tweeted it. We got, we gotta start shaming these people that are doing the parasocial behavior to take a picture of someone enjoying their life and then tweeting it to a bunch of burners being like, look at this loser ordering tacos. No, you're the loser for taking the picture of Jeff Passan.

00:14:33

Jeff Passan's been going at everybody. He, he went out at, uh, yeah, he got spicy, man. He went out at the sleeper accounts too. Yeah. He's like, your whole, your whole business model's fucked, buddy.

00:14:41

I didn't want, I don't, I don't understand that at all. I'm not gonna get involved. I'm just more pointing to the port, like Jeff Passan was ordering a taco and then, yeah, some guy takes a picture of him, calls him short, tweets it. It's like, that's a weird move.

00:14:54

Just, oh, I, I, I have no idea if he's right about the, I, I just like when Jeff Passan gets spicy about anything.

00:14:59

I'm gonna bring this bat into the office cuz I like just holding it and just kind of pointing it around and swinging it. Little, little bat. Uh, all right, more World Series. One last thing. Uh, we talked about it. So the Quentin Nelson trade broke, I think, while we were recording earlier.

00:15:17

Yep.

00:15:17

Then DeForest Buckner got traded back to the 49ers. Is our, is our boy Ed Dodd cooking? I think he might be.

00:15:27

I think he's on one. That's what I think. I think Ed Dodd's, I think Ed Dodd's was, was told no uncertain terms. Like, you will be judged entirely off of, uh, like what picks you bring in, how many picks you bring in over the course of the next 3 weeks. That's your job at Dodds. He's probably on some sort of like spiff sales plan where, uh, he's compensated directly based on how many picks come in. And, and congrats to, uh, DeForest Buckner because, uh, I, I'm excited to see him play some meaningful football. I remember we went out to the, uh, the 49ers training camp and we saw him when he was probably like a 2nd-year player, maybe 3rd-year player.

00:16:06

Yeah.

00:16:06

And he was the biggest dude I'd ever seen on a football field at that point. And I'm just excited to see him play potentially in some meaningful games for the 49ers this postseason. So happy for him. Happy for Quentin Nelson too, to get that opportunity.

00:16:21

Good move by the Seahawks.

00:16:23

Really good. This is classic Ed Dodds, man. We knew, When Ed Dodds calls, don't pick up.

00:16:28

No, run away. Throw your phone in the ocean because Ed Dodd is coming for all your 3rd, 4th, and maybe 5th rounders. He's gonna take them all. Did you see, uh, Jonathan Taylor posted an Instagram picture of Skyline Chili?

00:16:45

I did not see that.

00:16:47

Maybe I got duped. Let me see, let me see, let me double-check.

00:16:50

That would be wild.

00:16:51

That would be a wild one, huh? I'm very nervous that the Vikings might get Jonathan Taylor. That feels like that would be a problem.

00:16:58

If, if the, if the Bengals get Jonathan Taylor, I don't know how I would handle that. Like the, the Vikings, you did?

00:17:06

Okay.

00:17:06

I was gonna say the Bengals with a run game would be, that'd be some crazy shit. And also doesn't like their, their owner doesn't really do many trades, does he?

00:17:14

No, I don't think so. Also, that would've been crazy for Jonathan Taylor to just post Skyline Chili. That would've been weird.

00:17:22

Did you see Nate Hobbs? Nate Hobbs of the Niners got dressed up as Dejon Love for their Niners Halloween party.

00:17:29

Oh, that's sick.

00:17:30

Yeah, it's pretty awesome.

00:17:31

That is, that's really sick. All right. Is there anything else? I think that's it. Hank, you excited for more baseball?

00:17:38

Hell yeah. Yeah.

00:17:40

Yeah.

00:17:40

Is the, I don't think we talked about it. Is the, is the grudge match video out?

00:17:45

Part 1.

00:17:46

Part 1.

00:17:47

How was— just give a teaser. How did hole 1 go? Don't say anything else, but just hole 1.

00:17:52

Uh, part 1 is holes 1 and 2. Uh, and I'm down 5.

00:17:57

Oh no.

00:17:58

5 strokes.

00:17:59

Hank had a tough, tough, uh, couple putts on the green. Yeah.

00:18:03

Wait, $5 or 5 strokes?

00:18:05

5 strokes.

00:18:06

Is this a new camera setup you got going on right now too? This is like Halloween, eerie Halloween spooky.

00:18:12

I just turned off my TV once the game ended.

00:18:14

That's— oh, that's the difference.

00:18:16

That's the difference.

00:18:17

Yeah, for a second there you look like you're in a rap album.

00:18:20

I thought it looked like you were like, uh, at like a, a bonfire telling a spooky story.

00:18:26

No, it's late. I got all my lights off.

00:18:28

Yeah.

00:18:29

Oh, in the, uh, in the Grudge Match video, Hank surprised me by having Stu Finer show up, and I think Hank's technique was to put Stu Finer in my cart to annoy me, not, not understand that I love Stu. and immediately vibe.

00:18:43

Yeah.

00:18:43

No, I mean, that was just bringing Stu was just, just for vibes in general.

00:18:47

Oh yeah.

00:18:47

Yeah. Yeah.

00:18:48

Last thing about the World Series I forgot to mention. Listen, we're not gonna pick on Rays fans 'cause they're a little sensitive right now. They're down 3-1.

00:18:58

Great.

00:18:58

I'm gonna actually, you know what? I'm gonna say it. Credits to the Trop. The Trop has been very loud.

00:19:03

Mm-hmm.

00:19:04

The Trop has been very loud. There's a, it's packed.

00:19:07

It's full.

00:19:10

Not, not a seat, not an empty seat in the house. And it has been rocking. Now for what team? Let's just say it's been rocking. Let's just say the Trop has been rocking. Put it on a quote card. Credit to Tampa Bay slash St. Pete. The Trop has been rocking.

00:19:28

The towels swinging everywhere. The fans into every play, the booing on, on pickoff attempts. It's just been great. It's been great to see. Those towels are so funny.

00:19:39

And, and the The, the, I'll say this, when the walk-off happened, you could tell how excited everyone was by how quiet it got. It was shock. It was just straight shock. Everyone was like, oh my God, soaking it in. I can't believe that. And I think they were doing a free giveaway in the, in the top of the 12th when Cooper Pratt hit his home run because the crowd went nuts for that. It must have been like free chicken nuggets or something.

00:20:02

Fish tacos. Yeah, it's fish tacos.

00:20:05

Trop has been rocking. All right, let's kick it back to ourselves in studio.

00:20:09

00:22:59

Yeah.

00:23:00

Yeah.

00:23:01

Yeah, I mean, the defense— you said you fought. The defense showed zero fight.

00:23:05

Yeah.

00:23:05

They showed absolutely nothing. They are a bunch of children on the defensive side of the football.

00:23:12

Children?

00:23:12

With zero leader and zero determination to actually show any sort of heart in any way. They gave up on the season before that game started last night, and they had zero interest in playing football.

00:23:24

Wow.

00:23:25

Jalen Carter's getting paid $160 million to do nothing, to do absolutely nothing. Baldy broke down a video. He wasn't even getting in his fucking stance.

00:23:35

Oh yeah. I got a question about the leadership, Max, the leadership factor in there. What about Vic Fangio?

00:23:42

Yeah, Vic. I mean, Vic Fangio has enough body of work to give him benefit of the doubt. There's no leader on that defense. There's no leader on the field. Brandon Graham's not there anymore. I don't know, maybe just because Jalen Hurts isn't in the locker room anymore. There's no leader on that team. Saquon Barkley went out, went up to the podium after the game and talked for the first time in a while and addressed the team of saying that no one's a leader in here. So I guess I got to be.

00:24:06

He—

00:24:07

I want to give credit to Saquon. He was very clearly hurt.

00:24:10

Yeah.

00:24:11

And like even on the first play, he was, you know, came up a little—

00:24:14

he was fighting his ball.

00:24:15

He wanted to be in that game. He was like, there was a moment with like, you guys are on your 5th string running back, 6th string running back. Saquon tried to get back in the game. They're like, dude, you can't go back in the game.

00:24:26

He would go back in for the first play of every drive, break off like an 8-yard run, have a good cut, and then immediately go to the sideline and like try and like stretch out. I—

00:24:37

He would have had like 3 50-yard runs last night if he was healthy.

00:24:40

I was just watching him on the sideline being— just watching him try to get in the game the entire time. It was so disappointing.

00:24:47

But that's— that, that was the big story of the night, is that the Eagles defense— because the Eagles offense is banged up You're out. What, your 1 and 2? Your number 1, your number 2 receiver.

00:24:57

We're out QB1, RB1, RB2, RB3, RB4, wide receiver 1, wide receiver 2.

00:25:05

It sounds like he's doing like his drive-through. That is right there. I'll take one roast beef. You know what? 2, 3.

00:25:13

It's not what we're doing.

00:25:13

Okay, keep going. RB1, RB2.

00:25:16

I already did it. You weren't paying attention. We're not doing it again.

00:25:18

Okay.

00:25:19

You were thinking about Arby's.

00:25:20

I was thinking about Arby's. Yeah, it's The offense is bad, but we expect it to be bad. The defense still has all these dudes, and it's like, outside of Quinyon Mitchell—

00:25:33

He's the only one. He's the only one who showed up last night.

00:25:35

Yeah.

00:25:35

Zach Bawn is so disappointing. He's supposed to be the leader of that defense. He had, what, 2 tackles last night? He's getting fucking bodied at the line of scrimmage all night. Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter were nowhere to be found All night.

00:25:51

They—

00:25:51

the Cowboys rushed the ball 30 times for 200 yards.

00:25:55

Yeah, they're not even gonna put running shoes on.

00:25:56

Right down your fucking face, and they can't run the ball.

00:25:58

Yeah.

00:25:58

Cooper Kupp is nowhere. He fucking sucks now. Everyone is hyping him up to be like this next big thing. He's trying to get an extension this year, and he just— he looks like he doesn't fucking care. He sucks. Jalen Carter, he sucks. Jordan Davis, he sucks. The edge rushers are terrible. Jonathan Ginnard is nowhere. I get you're playing hurt, dude. But just show something or don't fucking get out there.

00:26:21

What about—

00:26:22

don't do it.

00:26:22

What about your head coach? What's Nick Sirianni doing? This is when he's supposed to step up, right? Like, lead our men, Nick.

00:26:29

Yeah.

00:26:29

Yeah.

00:26:30

I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. The team is— the season's over. The fact that we have to watch Commanders-Eagles on Sunday is such a joke.

00:26:39

It's actually such a joke.

00:26:41

It's disgusting.

00:26:42

It's actually like I want a class action lawsuit. Because it's, it's crazy that they'd done this to us and they had a chance to change it and they were just like, no, we're gonna, we're gonna just hit the NFC East button again. It's nuts.

00:26:56

Yep. I, I think that what's going to happen now is, uh, we're going to get a lot of talk about the Dallas Cowboys. We're, you know, we're going to get people to— we're gonna get people talking because they want it. They want a primetime game and people are going to look at the division and they're going to say, is this where Dallas starts to turn it on? And makes a little bit of run. I can't wait for that discussion to happen.

00:27:16

They gave up a lot of yards to an offense.

00:27:19

Yeah, they're a bad team.

00:27:21

Nobody—

00:27:21

The Cowboys are a bad team. Don't be like, CeeDee Lamb, awesome, great player. Dak Prescott, CeeDee, that connection is, is very fun. They're a good offense. They should be a good offense. They are a bad football team. And I can't wait for people to start to say like, this is when— look at the schedule, Dallas is going to put some wins together.

00:27:38

Well, They could be a bet. I agree with you. It's going to be very funny to watch them. But anyone who says that they're like an actual threat to go to the NFC Championship Game or Super Bowl is insane.

00:27:50

Insane.

00:27:50

They, they are definitely a threat to go to the playoffs because they're a bad football team that plays in a bad division. So they could be— they could go to the playoffs.

00:27:59

I was thinking about the Giants.

00:28:00

I don't think they're not a threat to win a playoff. No, no.

00:28:03

But they are definitely a threat to go to the playoffs.

00:28:05

Yeah, they can. they can threaten the Giants.

00:28:07

Yeah.

00:28:08

Yeah. Yes. That will be a battle that I think the Giants will end up winning because they've got a big head start. But yeah, anyone that looks at a primetime win against that Eagles team and makes anything mean anything about the Cowboys is insane.

00:28:22

Do you think, do you think Dak even washed his jersey last night? He was not touched. Like if they played—

00:28:27

Nobody was touched behind the line of scrimmage. Zero QB hits, zero tackles for losses. Zero sacks.

00:28:34

If they played two-hand touch, it would have been the same thing. Yeah, it was crazy.

00:28:37

Yeah, it was, it was nuts, that game, Max. Um, we should— do you think America could possibly boycott our game? I'm still gonna watch, but I don't—

00:28:46

I don't know.

00:28:46

We're gonna be doing a podcast during this show.

00:28:48

I don't think anyone else should watch. I don't think that anybody outside of this room should watch that game. We need to ban it.

00:28:55

That game stinks.

00:28:56

It's bad for America.

00:28:57

I don't know why they did this. They had, they had the chance. To make it Browns-Steelers.

00:29:03

I think they couldn't do Browns-Steelers.

00:29:05

No, they could. I thought they waited.

00:29:07

They said because of the comeback in the second half from the Commanders, they decided to keep it. I'm pretty sure I read that like they, they were talking about doing it and they made the decision after that game to keep it with the Commanders.

00:29:20

Sorry. But, you know, just another testament to that comeback and how great it was. But yeah, I apologize. Nobody should watch that game. It should be They should put it on pay-per-view or it should air on OnlyFans. It should not be, it should not be meant for a mass audience. It's going to be disgusting. And then we're going to have like Tirico and Collinsworth try to gas us up as best they can, try to make it way more meaningful sounding. And it's just going to be, it's going to be a bummer of a watch.

00:29:47

Yeah.

00:29:48

It's gonna make me sad to watch that football game. So, Max, we're done. You're done with the Eagles this year.

00:29:55

Yeah, they got, they got, they got nothing.

00:29:57

We got to have Bazooka Joe.

00:29:58

We got to have Bazooka Joe in the game.

00:30:00

Bazooka Joe, have some fun with it.

00:30:01

Or at the very, at the very least, Cole Payton.

00:30:04

Yeah, I would take Cole Payton too.

00:30:05

Tanner McKee didn't play bad.

00:30:07

He's—

00:30:08

But he's not the, he's not the answer. He's not. Yeah, he's not fun.

00:30:12

Oh, he missed that throw at the end of the, at the end of the first half to Darius Cooper, just wide open in the middle of the field. That would have sparked, sparked a run.

00:30:25

What sucks? What? Max, did you see Big Dom?

00:30:29

I did not see Big Dom.

00:30:31

Oh, actually, I did.

00:30:33

Where was he?

00:30:33

No, he's on TV.

00:30:34

Oh, yeah.

00:30:35

Did you see anyone?

00:30:37

Yeah, I saw Jason Kelce.

00:30:39

Nice. You say hi to him?

00:30:40

I said hi to him. He asked. He asked about my thoughts of how the game was going to go. I was wrong about how I thought that game was going to go.

00:30:49

What was your analysis?

00:30:51

I was like, today's— tonight's the night we turn it around. Last night was not the night. We turned it around.

00:30:57

I was wrong.

00:30:57

I was wrong about that analysis.

00:30:59

No.

00:31:00

Okay.

00:31:02

I also saw Pat McAfee.

00:31:03

He knew we were— McAlee?

00:31:05

The McAlee. He was all—

00:31:06

he was all—

00:31:07

he was all excited about that. We were excited about the McAlee.

00:31:10

McAfee went to Philadelphia?

00:31:12

Yeah.

00:31:12

After they blew up the Chicken Man?

00:31:14

Mm-hmm.

00:31:14

What's the Chicken Man like? That's got to be a nerve-wracking place to visit.

00:31:18

No, Philly's a good spot.

00:31:19

After that one guy was chilling out, maxing all cool, and then a couple of guys that were up to no good started a fight. What about the robot that walked across the country?

00:31:29

Oh, yeah. HitchBot. What about HitchBot?

00:31:31

Fuck HitchBot.

00:31:32

Yeah.

00:31:32

See, that's— oh, this is—

00:31:34

That could have been a disaster last night.

00:31:37

Did you call him corny?

00:31:38

No.

00:31:39

OK, good. Yeah.

00:31:40

All right.

00:31:40

So then we're good. We're on the right side.

00:31:41

Everyone keeps— I don't even know about this story. Everyone— anything that happened yesterday did not happen.

00:31:46

You were in Birds mode.

00:31:48

Yeah. Anything that happened—

00:31:50

he locks out the news when the Birds are on.

00:31:52

McAfee's got a little doo-doo-doo going on right now with the state of Utah. It's a little dust-up.

00:31:58

Whatever.

00:31:58

Something.

00:31:59

That's so something that is not going to cross my path.

00:32:02

That's what— that is something that you're literally the number one McAfee rider.

00:32:07

Yeah.

00:32:07

Also, Utah, you have the internet.

00:32:10

Yeah, you have the internet.

00:32:11

I was not on the internet yesterday.

00:32:13

Just as a human being, injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. You should be concerned about that.

00:32:20

Like when you're traveling on, getting on a plane, like you don't open the internet.

00:32:24

I was listening to podcasts.

00:32:25

He was trending all afternoon.

00:32:28

You can listen to podcasts and open the internet.

00:32:32

Maybe you can.

00:32:34

I guess. Yeah, I'm skilled like that. Yeah, I didn't realize that.

00:32:38

I can scroll the internet and listen to podcasts. I want to get you a man that can do both.

00:32:44

By the way, you know, the happiest guy at ESPN right now is Dan Orlovsky because McAfee had a big day with the state of Utah. Orlovsky just got completely overshadowed with one of the most shockingly dumb things I've ever seen an adult male say. Was he joking?

00:33:02

No. Okay.

00:33:03

When I first heard him break this down, because he was talking about how he didn't know what percent meant.

00:33:09

Can we, can we say what he said?

00:33:10

Because I have no idea what you're talking about.

00:33:11

There might be listeners out there.

00:33:12

He says he didn't know what percent He asked what percent. He did not understand what the term percent meant because somebody, one of his stats guys, told him that Joe Burrow's pressured on 4% of his dropbacks. He did not understand that that meant 4 times out of 100.

00:33:27

He's asked to dumb it down. He's like, what does that mean?

00:33:30

He has an MVP vote also.

00:33:33

And I love Orlovsky because he is a weird brain. He's just a weird brain guy. But just to be like, can you dumb down what 4% means? Like, how— what does that actually, like, break down to number-wise?

00:33:43

Like, I am still saying, like, I don't know. When I first heard he has an MVP vote, that I did not understand that it meant percent. I didn't know the origin of the word percent, meaning per 100, cent being a shorthand version of saying 100. Yeah, obviously I know that percent means out of 100.

00:34:04

Correct.

00:34:04

Yeah, obviously. I just, I just didn't know How that the word percent was actually a combination of per and then hundred. And then you get the word per—

00:34:14

By the hundred is the Latin.

00:34:16

Yeah. By the hundred. Obviously, I knew that it's out of 100. He didn't know. I started to think that's what Dan meant, too. And then he kept talking about it. It's like, no, this dude didn't understand that it means out of 100.

00:34:29

Oh, it's brutal. Max, you missed a lot yesterday. And by a lot, I mean Literally just like 30 minutes of the McAfee Show. Yeah, seems like everything happened on that 30 minutes.

00:34:42

I'm gonna have to go back on that.

00:34:43

Can I, can I do a little tinfoil hat? Yeah, I have just a tinfoil hat. It's not a take I'm ready to fully buy into. It's a thought that occurred to me.

00:34:52

Yeah.

00:34:52

And if you're the thought police, you have to stop listening because, okay, freedom of speech. There's a lot of teams in sports Over the last, I'd say, 5 years, there have been several very dominant teams that have had a great track record that have taken a notable step back in the last 12 months. Why is that?

00:35:15

Wait, say it again. There's notable teams?

00:35:17

Yeah, a lot of teams. I'll give you some examples.

00:35:20

Okay.

00:35:20

In hockey, Florida Panthers.

00:35:22

Okay.

00:35:22

Completely dominant. Big step back.

00:35:24

Well, they got injured, right?

00:35:25

Edmonton Oilers. Also a big step back. Not really dominant in hockey, but I mean, making it to the final.

00:35:30

Yeah. The big one.

00:35:31

Yeah.

00:35:32

But Panthers, that stands. Eagles, Eagles defense in particular looks completely different. The Ravens have been a very, very good team. It just looks like they're all kinds of fucked up right now. You can make that same case maybe about the Chiefs last couple. I'm going to leave the Chiefs out of that one. The Dodgers in baseball. Would be another one. Like 12 months ago, there started to be severe, severe supply chain issues when it came to performance-enhancing drugs and peptide shipments coming to the United States.

00:36:11

Hmm.

00:36:11

I just think it's interesting.

00:36:13

So would the Knicks being 0-3 count for this?

00:36:17

I would think that— no. Yeah. For the purposes of pissing memes off. Yes.

00:36:21

They're drunk.

00:36:22

For the purpose of pissing memes off, yes. But for the sake of my argument, I would actually say the Knicks winning the championship might be an example of them beating a lot of teams that maybe had benefited from that sort of thing in the past. And the Knicks are clean, in my estimation.

00:36:39

So wait, so athletes can't get steroids and peptides?

00:36:43

I'm not saying that. I'm saying it's gotten a lot harder to get the same stuff that they used to get very, very easily.

00:36:48

Got it.

00:36:49

Much—

00:36:49

feel like if anyone could still get the stuff, it's athletes and teams.

00:36:53

And what does this have to do with—

00:36:54

maybe for normal people?

00:36:55

I'm not saying— I'm not saying across the board, Hank. I'm saying that like there have been severe issues disrupting the supply chains that makes it harder for anyone to get. Are you trying to get peptides?

00:37:06

Are we still on the McAfee-Orlovsky thing?

00:37:08

No, no.

00:37:08

Oh, okay.

00:37:09

We've moved on from that. I'm just saying— I'm just saying, think about it. It's interesting that a lot of these teams that, that were kind of dominant and looked at as being at the top of their game all of a sudden kind of fell off the charts a little bit. Just something I've been— I, again, I said tinfoil hat, not ready to say tinfoil hat. Pablo, Pablo, you're listening to this. Just whenever anybody has a thought about something, ask Pablo Torre and let him do the rest of the work. Just think about it. You're not thinking about it.

00:37:35

No. Why not?

00:37:37

I don't— I really didn't follow to the teams like This is fun.

00:37:42

This is so dumb.

00:37:43

The Dodgers were in the NLCS.

00:37:45

Why?

00:37:45

It's—

00:37:46

pardon me, are you just saying that like every team who's good has to stay good forever?

00:37:49

No, I'm just saying that every team that's good is good because of peptides. No, that's not what I said.

00:37:55

There's not— if they were taking peptides, there's not a chance in hell that they couldn't still take those same peptides. I can fucking get peptides easily. You don't think professional athletes can get peptides?

00:38:07

I'm not necessarily just talking about peptides, Max. I'm talking about—

00:38:10

You said peptides.

00:38:10

As an example of the the entire performance-enhancing drug supply chain.

00:38:16

I—

00:38:16

Hank's right that if anybody could get it—

00:38:18

Hank's right in thinking that this is so dumb.

00:38:20

I hate— I, unlike Hank and Max, am a supportive friend, and even when my friend has dumb thoughts, I say, hey, we let him talk about it for so long. No, that was fine.

00:38:32

I said, Max, shut the fuck up. Don't tell me when to stop talking, you big bitch. This is fucking stupid of you to start yelling about this shit. What did you bring to the podcast today? Oh, the Eagles suck.

00:38:41

You see the internet!

00:38:43

You asked me a question, I answered the question.

00:38:44

My defense used to be good, now it's bad, and that makes me sad. Wait, wait, PFT, let me do a Max impression. Shut the fuck up, you stupid asshole. Oh, you guys are talking about the, the thing that went viral all day? Oh, I didn't know, I didn't know how to open up my phone.

00:38:56

I didn't know about it. You asked me to talk about it, I gave an answer.

00:39:00

PFT, let's talk about the Wizards. No, let's talk about the Wizards. You're right.

00:39:04

Yeah, the Wizards lost to the Hornets, so we're not gonna talk about the Wizards today.

00:39:06

Oh, fuck. PFT, I'm with you.

00:39:08

Anthony Davis looks like he's He's okay. He got his hand at the end of the game, but he's okay.

00:39:12

Peptides and steroids. I'm with you, PFT. I'm now— I have, I've gone all— you guys forced me into agreeing with PFT on this.

00:39:18

I'm not even saying I agree with me on this. I'm saying, I'm saying it's interesting to think about. I'm, I'm just putting the seed out there.

00:39:25

It is interesting.

00:39:25

It's a, it's a thought that I had early this morning, and I thought about some of the dominant teams, and they look like shells of themselves. The Dodgers being one example, looking like shells of themselves in this postseason.

00:39:36

I'm also naive, like, hand up. Like, I— and I don't know how you're up to date on the supply-demand trades and access to the steroids.

00:39:45

Because you've never read the news in your life.

00:39:47

Like, is that—

00:39:47

that's a thing?

00:39:48

Yeah.

00:39:49

That's a reported-on thing?

00:39:50

Like, I don't know.

00:39:51

Yes. To be fair, I don't read the news either. Yeah.

00:39:53

Yeah.

00:39:53

Well, no, you don't even read the tabloids.

00:39:56

I had one day.

00:39:57

You can't—

00:39:58

you can't consume 2 things at once.

00:39:59

You had one day?

00:40:01

You—

00:40:01

you're traveling for an entire day. You're like, I'm just going to turn off my phone.

00:40:06

I swear to God, I did look into more of it. And if you think we were talking about McAfee last night and I was like, I have no idea what's going on.

00:40:14

If you think I'm talking about standard peptides like, like you or I get, that's not at all what he's talking about.

00:40:19

Wouldn't that mean like, again, I'm on your side.

00:40:21

I can get peptides right now.

00:40:22

Again, I'm on your side. But wouldn't the elevated, like the really rich ones, those like rich people can get anything at any time?

00:40:30

Yeah, probably.

00:40:30

Yeah.

00:40:30

No, they'd still definitely be able to get a lot of the same stuff. But if there's a fucked up supply chain, it does make it a little bit harder for everybody. That's all I'm saying.

00:40:40

Yep.

00:40:40

All right.

00:40:41

So back to McAfee real quick. No, I actually did have one last point on it. I think McAfee is probably feeling like he has been overworked. I think this is the downside of working as many hours as he does. You get agitated about shit that maybe was a little bit of an overreaction. He probably woke up today after sleeping in his own bed and was like, oh, I maybe overreacted that a little bit. He's, he's working too much.

00:41:04

I honestly, I would probably agree.

00:41:05

He's probably—

00:41:06

yeah, he's burning the candle at every possible end.

00:41:09

The dude's fucking just—

00:41:10

the video that he was doing everything— the video that he was upset about was kind of funny. It was just people being like, yeah, I don't— yeah, Pat McAfee. He's like, fuck this state.

00:41:16

I think it's an overreaction, but I don't think Pat's like a bad guy. So it's like he had an overreaction. I think it's like you are, you are literally just working nonstop. As someone who works a lot, like when we were during football season, we're always go, go, go. There are definitely times where I have like a reaction to something or a response to something. I'm like, damn, that was not like— that's just me being like a bitch overtired. You know what I mean?

00:41:40

The funniest part is I get mad about someone talking about peptides.

00:41:42

Yeah.

00:41:43

The funniest possible thing is if somebody was like, we're going back to Utah for the Holy War.

00:41:47

Yeah, I think they are. I don't think so. I think it's a— oh, maybe it's on ESPN, but I don't think so. I think it's the— that's the November 7th weekend with Notre Dame-Miami.

00:41:56

Because McAfee pretty much said, if it's up to me, I'm never going back to that state.

00:42:00

I think the one thing that McAfee—

00:42:03

he—

00:42:04

anyone can feel however they want to feel. Maybe invoking a guy getting assassinated was probably off of a video of the word corny.

00:42:11

Yeah. I mean, yeah, that's a fair thing to say. That's a very fair thing to say.

00:42:16

Maybe a little too far. Do we— we didn't really talk and we're going to do Hot Seat Cool Throw in a second. We didn't really talk about Sunday Night Football. Hank, now that the time has passed, do we think that was just a Seahawks are really good and make teams look bad performance, or is it maybe the Chiefs aren't as good as we thought?

00:42:38

I mean, the Seahawks have proven it.

00:42:39

Yeah, they know.

00:42:40

They, they, since this, like the whole playoffs last year and this entire year is like their, their defense makes unbelievable quarterbacks look for sure mediocre.

00:42:49

They dunk on teams. They make teams look bad. I'm just asking a question about the Chiefs because the Chiefs, I think more, it's more if you could take away the Chiefs running attack, like who do they throw it to? And we'll find out when they play the Broncos. But it was just a shockingly bad Mahomes and Chiefs performance.

00:43:06

We all keep expecting the Chiefs to, to add somebody at wide receiver.

00:43:10

Yeah.

00:43:10

Because they don't have any options whatsoever. So I don't know what the, what the names that might be on the trade block would be before the deadline.

00:43:17

Yeah.

00:43:18

But they— if, if the offense exists like this for the rest of the season, then no, I don't think they're going to win. Yeah, I don't think that they can. It's not, it's not a knock against Mahomes or like anything about where his career is at right now. It's just he literally doesn't have any weapons and the offensive line is a big question. I don't know if Simmons is ever going to play.

00:43:37

He shouldn't have put his feet up.

00:43:39

Yeah, did put his feet up and then he got into an argument with Andy Reid.

00:43:41

Yeah, about having his feet up.

00:43:43

Yeah. And then Andy Reid and Mahomes apparently yelled at Simmons. You can't yell at Andy Reid in that facility. Yeah, he's untouchable.

00:43:50

I am definitely— I agree, Hank. Seahawks make everyone look really bad. My question was more, we're now at the point where we have enough of a, like, a data set where it's like you can look at teams and be like, all right, what's their best win? And when you look at the Chiefs, week 1 was maybe the aberration. You know, every, every time there's a week 1 weird game where the Broncos literally missed the most tackles of any team this year. In one game. Their other 4 wins are Colts, Dolphins, Raiders, Chargers. Those are really bad teams. So I— that's why I'm excited for Sunday, because it's like, if they beat the Broncos, then I'll be like, you know what, I was wrong. But if the Broncos beat them, are we gonna start saying, hey, wait a second, are the Chiefs actually like all the way back? Or have they— did they have a nice little start to the season, you know, with a soft schedule to get Mahomes going?

00:44:41

Yeah, I don't know that we'd be able— I'm still going to have the same thoughts about them even if they beat the Broncos, which is they don't have a wide receiver.

00:44:47

Yeah, yeah, yeah. But I'll at least— Rashee Rice will come back. Yeah, I'll at least say, all right, I was— that's a— that's beating a quality playoff caliber team twice now. That would definitely go a long way of me saying like, hey, they're going to be a force in the AFC playoffs.

00:45:04

So Rashee Rice's hamstring, when is that? When is he getting back?

00:45:08

It's week by week. I think it was possible this week, but obviously got ruled out.

00:45:13

Yeah.

00:45:13

So maybe this week, who knows? But it's not— he'll be back soon-ish.

00:45:19

They will look different when he's back. I would just like to see more than— because he hasn't proven that he can stay on the field. So yeah, I would like to see something else from the Chiefs. I don't think that— I still, I trust in the defense. I think the defense is going to hold up their end of the bargain. I just think that as it stands right now, I would not trust them to go far in the playoffs.

00:45:37

Yeah. What, uh, in terms of— we're going to talk college football with Booger. Did you guys give any more thoughts to my take at the end of Sunday's show that the '24 playoff— and I know, Hank, you accused— you were in a salty mood. So I throw it out. It was a tough, tough Sunday night for you. My—

00:45:54

what?

00:45:55

It was.

00:45:55

Yeah. My take that the 2014 playoff, it's starting to grow on me and I don't— I want to resist it. I want to throw it out. And it has nothing to do with the Badgers. It has to do with the fact that there are right now, it's like there's like 8 teams in the SEC that I think are all really good that have 2 losses that if they catch a 3rd loss, they're probably not going to be in the playoff. And it's like, I want to see Trinidad Shambles play in the playoff. I want to see Keelan Russell play in the playoff.

00:46:23

Here's the problem.

00:46:24

I'm starting to— I'm starting— it's, it's, it's my problem is I'm thinking about it in just this year where we actually have parity. Not years past where like 2 years ago we had a 12-team playoff with only like 3 good teams.

00:46:35

Here's the problem is in theory, you're not, you're not wrong about this example. But in practice, what we're going to run into is in a 24 playoff, it's not going to be the best 24 teams in the country.

00:46:44

Right.

00:46:44

It's going to be the 24 teams in the country that ESPN has decided that they want to put on the air and for people to watch. That's, that's, that's what it ultimately—

00:46:53

but that's—

00:46:54

when has college football ever done anything that isn't about money.

00:46:57

Okay. So I don't really buy that because with 24 teams, you can't— it would be very hard. Like the last 3 teams might be the teams they want on air, but you know who the top 20 teams are. That's not really like up for debate. Oh, ESPN put them on because they want them on type of thing.

00:47:13

I think that there would be a lot of motivation for ESPN to put the teams on that maybe wouldn't be looked at as being the best teams because of the financial.

00:47:23

But again, we are talking about like the end of the rankings. You can't just make up a ranking. to, to say, oh, this team that has 5 losses— Alabama has 5 losses, let's put them at 24. Like, you can't do that.

00:47:35

No, but I think that there's going to be a lot— there's gonna be a logjam in the 20 to 30 range.

00:47:39

Yeah, but I don't care about that. Like, that's what I'm saying. I don't care about— I don't care about 20, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24. I don't care about those teams.

00:47:46

You care about—

00:47:46

I'm talking about the, the— yeah, when we have 12— when, when, like, Ole Miss is right now 12th in the country, LSU is 15th in the country, Tennessee— I love watching Tennessee's defensive line. They're, they're 16th in the country. Like, I want to see those teams in the— like, I want to see those teams have a crack at it.

00:48:03

And they do have a crack at it. But the problem is, like, you have to keep the end of the regular season for the conference— that it has to mean something. There has to be a lot on the line to really get the full chaos and the full amount of energy in the last 5, 6 weeks of the regular season.

00:48:19

No, but the— but yeah, so again, this might be just me this year, but this year it would work. This year it actually, like, looking at the schedules, it would work. These games would mean a lot coming down the stretch.

00:48:31

They mean a lot right now, but you'd have like the conference championship games too. Like, that's— that should mean something.

00:48:38

Oh, I, I— that's gone. That, that shouldn't mean anything. I'm done with that. I've been done with that. They, they stopped meaning anything the minute we went to 12. That was over. So I'm, I'm fully done with— I'm actually— that actually might be the one thing that I can universally say, because I'm still kind of wishy-washy with whether I like the 24 teams. Universally, I love that we're done with conference championship. It means absolutely nothing. It used to mean a lot. It used to be awesome. Means zilch.

00:49:05

It means, it means a lot less. But I do think that if you go to 24 teams, it's going— the regular season is going to feel different. There's going to be a lot of unintended consequences when you're watching these.

00:49:14

Every game is going to feel like less significant too.

00:49:17

Right.

00:49:17

Like when teams beat like a top 5 team and it's like, yeah, we ruined their season. Like they're, you know, our Our year hasn't been good, but we ruined our rivals' chances of making the playoffs. Like, yeah, no, you can hang your hat on. And this is like, oh yeah, we lost to like Minnesota, but we're fine.

00:49:32

Yeah, no, I see that part for sure. I don't know. Again, I'm just kind of— I'm basically in a confused state of mind of trying to figure out who I am. If I'm— if I like the 24, I just— it hit me when I was watching Ole Miss-Texas and I was watching Ole Miss lose and I was like, I love watching Trinidad Chambliss play college football. If Ole Miss catches another loss, there's a very good chance they're not in the playoff, and that's a bummer to me. That's really where it came from. I agree.

00:49:58

I like watching Trinidad play football too. I think that 24-team playoff is very bad for the sport overall. Okay. And the, the best thing about it is we get to look at a bracket. Yeah, looking at the bracket is going to be fun too.

00:50:09

Here's, here's my— I'll put a bow on it.

00:50:11

My—

00:50:13

I think we've already lost so much in college football that it's like this is not going to really change much. That's where I've landed it after like thinking about it, that it's just, we've already lost rivalries, conference champions, all these things. It's like, whatever. We've, we've gone down this road. We've lost the, the conferences are all fucked up. What's one more thing? Who cares? This isn't the straw that's going to break my back is essentially what I'm saying.

00:50:36

Oh yeah.

00:50:37

We're going to keep watching.

00:50:37

Yeah.

00:50:38

Yeah.

00:50:39

Okay. Uh, all right. Should we do hot seat, cool throne? By the way, I, I'm going to look into this peptide steroid thing. I agree. I agree with you, PFT. Fuck Max. Fuck him.

00:50:47

I'm just saying, think about it.

00:50:49

They're just—

00:50:49

you know what they are?

00:50:50

They're just not free thinkers.

00:50:52

Also, I mean, there's— I'm going to dive into it more. Yeah. Now what you've encouraged me to do, that, Max, is to— is to look even harder into it besides the 40 seconds of thought that I put in thinking about the good teams that have now become bad.

00:51:06

Which has never happened in sports before.

00:51:08

And the supply chain.

00:51:09

It's never happened in sports before, dude.

00:51:11

I'm sorry.

00:51:12

Also, one of your teams was the Dodgers who like, yeah, won 2 years in a row, then made the NLCS.

00:51:18

How bad was Shohei Ohtani?

00:51:20

I mean, they ran into a buzzsaw.

00:51:22

He got hurt.

00:51:23

But yeah, Shohei Ohtani.

00:51:24

But maybe that's why.

00:51:25

That's what I'm saying.

00:51:26

Looks like you're on it, Max.

00:51:28

Yeah, their team was just Shohei.

00:51:31

I know. I'm saying I understand that, Hank. They were bad though.

00:51:34

They were bad and they made the NLCS.

00:51:36

Yes. Have you seen their lineup?

00:51:39

I think they had like the 3rd best record in baseball.

00:51:41

Yeah.

00:51:41

Have you seen their lineup?

00:51:42

I think 2nd, 2nd best.

00:51:44

Yeah.

00:51:44

Their lineup is stacked.

00:51:45

Yeah.

00:51:46

They're all old though. A lot of peptides.

00:51:48

A lot, a lot, a lot of these teams.

00:51:50

Well, there's—

00:51:51

I mean, sometimes people get older.

00:51:52

A lot of these teams got injured.

00:51:54

That is good.

00:51:55

What are you saying?

00:51:55

A lot of these teams.

00:51:57

Say it again.

00:51:57

Say what you're saying.

00:51:58

Say what you're saying.

00:52:00

I was like, sometimes older teams get Once they get past a certain age, they get worse.

00:52:05

Yeah.

00:52:05

Yeah. You know what helps with that?

00:52:06

That's what I'm saying.

00:52:07

Yeah. Well, you guys are fixated on the peptides.

00:52:09

Not me.

00:52:11

You said performance-enhancing drugs.

00:52:13

You did say peptides.

00:52:14

You know what? We'll see if LeBron James plays a full season this year.

00:52:17

Okay, good. I like that.

00:52:18

Yeah, there you go.

00:52:19

Because if anybody's got it, it's probably LeBron.

00:52:23

Yeah. I mean, yeah, he'll— he would never not be able to get his peptides or steroids if he did.

00:52:29

Yeah.

00:52:29

All right. Let's do Hotsy Cool Throne. It's brought to you by TickPick. PMT is brought to you by our friends over at TickPick. So this Monday, the Eagles hosted the Cowboys at Lincoln Financial Field, and Max was there on the field before kickoff holding the flag. That's all through TickPick, the official fan experience partner of the Philadelphia Eagles. Max, how great was it standing? You saw the eagle fly over your head.

00:52:54

The eagle is sick. I saw a lot of things last night. I don't think I've ever been more starstruck than seeing that eagle go right over my head while I'm on the 35-yard line holding the American flag. It was, it was something that was special.

00:53:06

So thank you to TickPick for making that moment for Max. Max isn't the only one who gets to do stuff like this. Experience game day like never before. TickPick, the official fan experience partner of the Philadelphia Eagles, gives the fans the opportunity to hold the American flag. Or watch the Eagle enter the field from the locker room through the tunnel. And for everything else you're heading to this year, TickPick has never charged fans service fees. Download the TickPick app, stop paying service fees. And for new TickPick fans, take $20 off your first order with promo code PMT20 in the TickPick app. Orders must be $200 or more to apply. That's PMT20 at checkout for $20 off your first order. Henry.

00:53:48

Uh, my hot seat's WNBA.

00:53:50

Mm-hmm.

00:53:51

Yeah, they are playing Game 6 of the WNBA Finals.

00:53:58

Yeah.

00:53:58

At 12:30 in the afternoon on Thursday because they did not schedule a potential— like, they didn't know where they were gonna play. The Hawks have a game at their arena, so the WNBA just had to Like they, they thought the Hawks were going to move their schedule. Like they were upset that the Hawks wouldn't reschedule their game so they could have their finals game at that arena. Yeah. And instead of doing it in an arena where like it's like a 5,000 capacity arena, they could have done it the regular time. They chose to do 12:30 in the afternoon, which is 9:30 in the morning.

00:54:36

Right.

00:54:36

For the Valkyries.

00:54:37

For the Valkyries. For Golden State.

00:54:38

For diehard Valkyries.

00:54:39

Yeah. If you're a Golden State Valkyrie fan. You, you got to wake up and watch. You're fucked. It's bad. They should have just done it in a small gym. Like, there's nothing wrong with playing in a packed-ass, loud, small gym. It would probably— it would be better than if it was in— yeah, I don't know what the attendance figures would look like.

00:54:57

Well, 3,500 is their— is their arena, right? And then, like, I think they wanted to sell. But why— why didn't they ask Georgia Tech?

00:55:06

I don't know.

00:55:07

Why didn't they ask Georgia? I know Athens is in Atlanta, but like, why didn't they— why didn't they ask a college?

00:55:13

I don't know what the other options were, but it seems like it's a better option to play at a small-ass gym with a shitload of energy than it would be to play at noon when nobody's going to be able to make it to the game. If they're worried about ticket sales, one great way to make sure that nobody goes to the game is to do it at high noon.

00:55:30

Mm-hmm.

00:55:32

I mean, hey, look, as someone who has a fake job, Who can watch sports in the middle of the day, free sports. But yeah, this is crazy. I don't get it. I don't get it at all. At all. Are you gonna watch, Hank?

00:55:47

If it's on in the gambling cave and I walk by, maybe I'm eating lunch.

00:55:52

Okay.

00:55:52

Yeah.

00:55:53

Nice.

00:55:54

You're gonna bet on it?

00:55:56

Probably not.

00:55:57

I might bet on it. There's got to be an angle to playing a game.

00:56:00

I'm actually—

00:56:01

12:30.

00:56:02

I'm 1-0 in the WNBA betting. Finals.

00:56:05

They have sleepy legs. Maybe, maybe take the under.

00:56:08

Yeah, sounds good to me.

00:56:10

Not woken up yet.

00:56:12

Wait, the craziest part is this. What's the series at?

00:56:17

3-2.

00:56:18

Who?

00:56:20

Not Angel Reese, I think. Valkyries.

00:56:23

Valkyries. I heard that if they, if they win on Thursday, They're not going to be able to celebrate on the court.

00:56:35

Why?

00:56:35

Because there's a game later that night.

00:56:38

So no confetti?

00:56:39

Like, they're going to, like, have to just get off the court pretty quickly.

00:56:43

That's going to be—

00:56:43

that's crazy.

00:56:44

Like, no trophy ceremony?

00:56:45

Yeah, I think, I think it's just like, you got to get out. They got to actually— that is, I do kind of love watching, like, old videos when in, like, the '80s when teams would win a title and they would do the trophy ceremony in the locker room. There was something cool about that.

00:56:59

Yeah.

00:57:00

You know, like they're, they're like they just give the Lombardi or give the Larry O'Brien in the, in the locker room. Is everyone just pouring champagne on each other?

00:57:09

I don't know.

00:57:10

You get the champagne on the commissioner.

00:57:11

Yeah.

00:57:12

There's just a phone on the wall.

00:57:13

Something cool about that. So maybe they can recreate that.

00:57:16

There's a phone on the wall in the locker room. The president calls. Yeah. And the owner picks up the phone.

00:57:20

Thank you, Mr. President. Hey, great job, buddy. Okay. What are you looking for, Max?

00:57:25

I'm trying to find like what you're talking about.

00:57:27

Do you not like— have you never watched any old teams win a title?

00:57:31

I've never watched like a trophy ceremony in the locker room in the '80s. No.

00:57:36

Oh, like look at when the Raiders won the— won the Lombardi as Al Davis.

00:57:41

I think it was like the way he was like suing the league.

00:57:43

Yeah. And the commissioner had to hand him the trophy.

00:57:47

Yeah.

00:57:49

There's—

00:57:49

I think even, even like the Cowboys. I feel like that's, that's a pretty iconic, like, yeah, Jerry Johnson standing on a makeshift thing in like the bowels of a stadium.

00:57:59

Hank, did you know this?

00:58:01

Yeah.

00:58:02

You did?

00:58:02

You? Yeah.

00:58:04

The scene PFT's talking about in like a documentary, any sports documentary.

00:58:09

Yeah.

00:58:09

Celtics ones like Larry Bird, Red Auerbach. A lot of the MLB ones. I feel like the MLB still does it sometimes. Like, wasn't the Oh yeah.

00:58:21

Wasn't the truck guy?

00:58:22

Yes.

00:58:23

Yes.

00:58:23

Yes. That was in the locker room.

00:58:24

That was incredible. Yes.

00:58:27

Yeah.

00:58:28

I mean, like the, the, like the Bulls getting the trophy and the Bulls got the trophy in there as well. Like how, how have you never seen this, Max?

00:58:40

I don't know.

00:58:40

Hasn't come across.

00:58:40

Did you not watch The Last Dance?

00:58:43

I did watch The Last Dance.

00:58:44

Okay. And like the '90s, like the, I don't know if it was for all 6, but like starts like 90. Like, like the, like the first 3 Bulls trophies. I'm pretty sure at least one, I think they were all in the, in the locker room.

00:58:59

I also don't know if that solves the problem for the, the WNBA teams because wouldn't the other teams need the locker room to start changing?

00:59:05

There you go. Right there, Max. That's David Stern giving him the trophy in the locker room.

00:59:10

Yeah, that's cool.

00:59:11

Okay. Uh, yeah, I don't know.

00:59:14

Like, that would not— that would make for an uncomfortable scene too.

00:59:16

Yeah.

00:59:17

I wish, I wish we still did that though. That, that was, that was always cool when it was just— and then, and then the commissioner would get sprayed with champagne.

00:59:24

Yeah.

00:59:24

The commissioner would be soaking wet and you'd have like Bob Costas standing in there.

00:59:28

Yeah.

00:59:29

He'd get some of it too.

00:59:29

Yeah.

00:59:30

Like it would just be all in there. Okay. Cool throw.

00:59:33

My cool throw is this league. Jaylen Brown.

00:59:37

Why?

00:59:37

Jayson Tatum. A lot of media back and forth. Scalabrine like might be on the hot seat. Uh, but we talked about it a little bit, I think, on last Thursday— last Friday's show with Jayson Tatum. Uh, he put out like a 3-part documentary on his YouTube page, like, you know, preseason vlog stuff where he talked about the Jaylen Brown trade and how he didn't know and he called him right away. Then Jaylen Brown commented on an Instagram post saying that's cap. Then Jaylen Brown was doing media after their game this weekend, said that, and he said this 3 times, he thought it was an absolute banger. There's no beef, but there might be some lamb chops and some gravy.

01:00:18

And Max thought that lamb was beef.

01:00:20

Max thought lamb was beef. What did— yeah, what was Max's quote?

01:00:23

He's like, Max said that it didn't make sense because lamb is also beef.

01:00:27

I wish he said pork chops or something.

01:00:28

No, he said, yeah, he said, There still is beef because lamb is beef.

01:00:32

I thought it was— I thought all red beef was—

01:00:35

was—

01:00:35

You can't say that. Don't say it. You can't say red beef.

01:00:38

That's the problem.

01:00:39

All red meat was beef. Hand up. I was wrong.

01:00:45

Stay right. Always stay ready.

01:00:47

Yeah.

01:00:48

Like if we'd—

01:00:48

what?

01:00:50

Clue Mac breaking news. Clue Mac. No. Nelson has been traded to the Seahawks. Oh, shit. Shit.

01:00:58

All right.

01:00:59

Yeah, that's congrats. Congrats, Seattle.

01:01:02

That's a big one.

01:01:04

They might literally know how to run the football now.

01:01:06

Yeah, they're fixing their run game.

01:01:07

Yep.

01:01:07

Like that.

01:01:09

Fuck.

01:01:10

You know what? Good for Quentin.

01:01:12

Fuck.

01:01:13

I'm happy.

01:01:13

He just said he was going to fix everything for the Chargers. He was supposed to. That is true.

01:01:19

Next year's over too.

01:01:22

Oh no.

01:01:25

Zach is still sick, by the way.

01:01:28

Where were we?

01:01:29

Oh yeah, Max thinks that Lamb is beef.

01:01:33

Yep.

01:01:33

So is there lamb between the Sixers or between Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum?

01:01:42

Yeah, apparently. I mean, Jaylen Brown is like, is really, really spinning this narrative or running with it. Scalabrine though yesterday was on a podcast, said that his sources said that Jaylen Brown like requested to be traded and/or made a list of demands like, if you don't do these things, then trade me. That got picked up yesterday. Jaylen Brown's team like put out a statement saying that was not true. He did not request to be traded. Now Scal's in the hot seat because he had to basically backtrack everything that he said. So there, it's just a, it's a, it's not going to go away. And I love Jaylen Brown, but he's just like—

01:02:23

When do you guys play?

01:02:25

November 10th.

01:02:26

Ooh, coming up.

01:02:27

Coming up. I don't know where it is.

01:02:29

That'll be big.

01:02:31

Yeah.

01:02:32

But would you say there's beef or lamb?

01:02:35

I don't— I think it like— I believe that the Celtics front office, who like I would, I would go to the end of the earth with, and like they are way smarter than me, like they knew that they couldn't keep both. They had to make a decision. They chose Jayson Tatum for a multitude of reasons. Obviously it's a hard decision. It's not saying Jaylen Brown is bad.

01:02:58

Mm-hmm.

01:02:59

But I don't like Jaylen Brown. And Jaylen Brown's rightfully upset. Like he's a competitor. He thinks he's, you know, the best. Like Jayson Tatum thinks he's the best. Like that's what you want out of your 2 players. Like you want them to have that feeling towards themselves and be confident. I don't think it's like Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown really like have personal beef. I think it's just like, you know, Jaylen Brown, Celtics, and that's like turning into Jayson Tatum in some ways. But I think there's definitely beef between Jaylen Brown and the Celtics organization for sure.

01:03:31

Okay. There's beef and then the little side of lamb. Beef between Jaylen Brown and the Celtics organization, lamb between Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum.

01:03:39

Well, no, it's just a rivalry. Like, you know, it's a— it was a brotherhood. Now it's just just like, it's, it's, you know.

01:03:44

Yeah.

01:03:45

Okay.

01:03:46

Stay ready every— what did he say?

01:03:48

At all times.

01:03:48

Stay ready at all times.

01:03:49

Is he—

01:03:50

is he—

01:03:50

that's like, that's like, is he— that's like, that's like a Utah— is that a Utah situation for Jayson Tatum?

01:03:57

What do you mean?

01:03:57

Is that like an assassination threat?

01:03:59

Oh, for when he comes back?

01:04:02

I don't know.

01:04:02

Jayson Tatum has been accused of being corny.

01:04:04

Stay ready at all times is like a pretty crazy—

01:04:07

Yeah.

01:04:08

It's a threat. Yeah.

01:04:10

Right.

01:04:11

Yeah.

01:04:12

So he might have to— they might have to arrest you.

01:04:15

Is he doing it? Is he doing his streams and shit? Is he still talking about that?

01:04:21

Let's talk about what?

01:04:22

Like, is he still openly discussing that sort of thing on his streams that he's doing?

01:04:26

I haven't seen him stream this year. This is all just like in postgame press conferences and stuff.

01:04:30

Yeah. I wonder if he's going to break that back because I haven't heard anything about his streaming activities recently.

01:04:35

Yeah.

01:04:36

All right. PFT.

01:04:38

My hot seat is the Chargers.

01:04:40

Oh.

01:04:41

Shane, the Chargers are on the hot seat.

01:04:44

Quinn Nelson.

01:04:45

What do you mean?

01:04:47

No Quinn Nelson now.

01:04:48

Why would you trade for Turner?

01:04:49

You thought that Quinn Nelson was going to turn into—

01:04:50

oh, he's a free agent after this year. Now he's going to get extended for sure.

01:04:54

No, he's not.

01:04:54

What do you mean? That's not for sure.

01:04:56

We don't know that.

01:04:56

For sure.

01:04:57

Why is that for sure?

01:04:58

Because the Seahawks need interior offensive line help and they just traded for him.

01:05:02

Yeah, but that doesn't—

01:05:03

that's silly.

01:05:03

Well, they give up.

01:05:04

A 3rd and a 5th, I said.

01:05:05

All right. That doesn't probably guarantee, but yeah, they might extend him.

01:05:08

So he was going to solve everything.

01:05:10

Him and Jeremiah Smith.

01:05:12

Do you think it'd be combo more likely that he would get to the Chargers and then he'd get injured?

01:05:18

Yes.

01:05:18

Okay.

01:05:19

Yeah. People are apparently interrupting Madison Beer concerts.

01:05:23

Oh, no.

01:05:24

Yeah.

01:05:24

Doing what?

01:05:25

Being like, what can you do to fix the Chargers?

01:05:29

She was doing a Christmas concert at Disneyland. And, and someone asked, told her to fix the Chargers. And she was like, no, man, Jeremiah Smith is coming.

01:05:38

Oh, she said that? That's good.

01:05:40

I don't think she said that. Oh, she didn't per se say that, but her face, but her facial, her facial expression said Justin Herbert is coming. That's what I've seen.

01:05:50

Hmm. No, man.

01:05:51

So, wait.

01:05:53

Okay.

01:05:54

It's like, fix the Chargers.

01:05:57

I don't know what she's like.

01:05:58

Nah.

01:05:59

It's like Colin Cowherd.

01:06:00

Jeremiah's coming.

01:06:01

I don't, I don't think that's on her. I'll say that. Although I did appreciate Justin Herbert drinking a lot of beer on the bye week.

01:06:08

No, no.

01:06:09

I was just saying it was like the meme.

01:06:12

And they are. Yeah. The Chargers, the Chargers being the only winless team right now is it's just a tough look for them.

01:06:20

Yes. But it was a bye.

01:06:21

We won the bye.

01:06:22

So what's next on your list for how the Chargers are going to get fixed? next year now that Quentin Nelson, that was the big piece.

01:06:31

Quentin Nelson was the piece. Unfortunately, we probably have to trade Khalil and some other pieces to get some picks. And preferably, I'd like the GM to sign offensive linemen and then draft good players. That's the key to everything.

01:06:48

Okay.

01:06:49

Very interesting.

01:06:49

All right.

01:06:50

You got a cool throne?

01:06:51

Yeah.

01:06:51

My cool throne is Internet Invitational. It's out. Episode 1 came out. I'm not sure when's episode 2 dropping.

01:06:57

Thursday.

01:06:58

Thursday, coming out on Thursday. Episode 1's out. We do the draft. First round is in there. Got to play with my guy Callum, Calyx, from the, from the Sidemen over in UK. Zach was actually really pumped that he was the guy that I got, I got paired up with in the first round. But yeah, it was, it was a very fun time. Glad that we can finally start to talk about a little bit because the storylines are going to start to unfold over the next couple of weeks. And yeah, shout out, shout out LeBron, who's probably watching. Okay. Appreciate your viewership, LeBron.

01:07:27

Yeah. Thank you, LeBron. Okay. My hot seat. We talked about it briefly on Sunday, but Michael Bidwill, that fucking asshole for the Arizona Cardinals who owns the Arizona Cardinals. I've done a little bit more research. This guy is the worst. And I feel awful for Cardinals fans because Cardinals, the Arizona Cardinals are one of I don't know, top 5, uh, least relevant organizations. And I don't say that in a mean way. It's just the facts. They've been to the playoffs, I think, 7 times in 100-plus years. And Michael Bidwell is the reason for this. The Bidwell family. This drives me insane. This guy doesn't want to own an NFL team. He doesn't want to spend the money to own an NFL team. He wants to own an NFL team say he owns an NFL team, cheap out on everything, and screw over the fans.

01:08:22

They—

01:08:23

he does exactly what you'd expect. Uh, one, the— so I was looking into it. They used to have incredible, uh, training camp in Flagstaff where the fans could go. Awesome scene.

01:08:34

Flagstaff rocks.

01:08:35

Flagstaff rocks. 7,500 fans would be able to go see it. Like, this is the— these are the touch points that fans need for an organization where it's like, hey, I can't afford to go to a game. Let me go to training camp. Let me bring my kids to training camp. Ended that. Now they just do it in their, in, in their stadium. Like, just said Flagstaff didn't build this new facility. We're done with that. He created these casitas that go for like $250,000 in the end zones. Now he has like a Club Rojas at the 50-yard line. Essentially every single chance he's got to push the common fan away from the seats that they've had for years and years and years, he's done. for corporations and they're empty. Like, I saw a picture of it. The things sit empty, but he does it because all he cares about is, is like the corporate greed and, and squeezing every single cent out of this team.

01:09:24

He—

01:09:24

they always fail the NFLPA report cards. Always. They're F on everything. I saw one, one, uh, story that, uh, who was it? I think it was one of a former— oh, they, they would— the year they went to the Super Bowl Any, any staff members that left after— because you went to the Super Bowl, so there's some assistant coaches that got new jobs— he just didn't pay them their bonuses. He was just like, fuck you, you're out of here.

01:09:48

Jesus.

01:09:49

Uh, we also had, uh, this was Robert Griffith, who used to play the safety for the Cardinals. Get this, he, uh, he said that on Tuesdays when there was no one in the facility, the players weren't in the facility, he would put Michael Bidwell would put a lock on the Gatorade fridge in the locker room so people couldn't take extra Gatorades. And then this is the part that's like, this guy is a piece of shit. Get the fuck out. I stand with all the fans, the Arizona Cardinals fans who've been tortured by Michael Bidwell, who has never done anything, who's never won anything. They've gotten a couple lightning in a bottle seasons, Carson Palmer, uh, Kurt Warner, Jake Plummer, but then it's just nothing. This is the one that's nuts. So Robert Griffith, when he signed with the Cardinals, the Cardinals sent him a FedEx with the contract. And it was like a check for $500,000 was what he was getting paid, right? The check was supposed to be for $500,000. The check was for $499,985. Or $985.89. You know why that was, PFT?

01:11:03

No.

01:11:04

Because Michael Bidwill took the FedEx charges out of his check. That's how fucking cheap this guy is.

01:11:11

Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous.

01:11:13

That's insane.

01:11:14

That's—

01:11:15

you're a billionaire NFL owner. Sell the team, dude.

01:11:20

Also, the players might be afraid to go to work on Sunday because they haven't won a game in their home arena since Charlie Kirk's funeral.

01:11:28

That's true. That's true. I also—

01:11:31

It took place there.

01:11:31

I also got into a little deep dive of they might be a cursed franchise, actually cursed. So back in 1925, there was no NFL championship game. The team with the best record was declared champions on December 6th, 1925. The Pottsville Maroons beat the Cardinals 21-7 in Chicago to clinch the best record in the NFL and therefore were the unofficial NFL champions. But the Maroons were suspended by the league for playing an exhibition game against Notre Dame in Philadelphia on the grounds that this exhibition game violated the Frank— Frankfurt Yellow Jackets' territorial rights. This is insane. As a result, the Cardinals scheduled 2 more games against the Milwaukee Badgers and Hammond Pros. The Badgers had substituted high school players on their roster, letting them clinch the best record in the league and therefore the NFL championship. And this was the Bidwells have owned it forever.

01:12:24

Mm-hmm.

01:12:24

Well, uh, so after the season, the Cardinals owner Chris O'Brien refused to accept the 1925 championship, saying it was awarded unfairly. So the Cardinals added 2 games. Owner said, okay, we're not actually going to take this championship because it's not fair. But when the Bidwells bought the team in the 1930s, they accepted the championship. To this day, the Cardinals have been one of the least successful teams in NFL history, having only 7 playoff wins since 1925, 3 of which came in 2008. Give back that 1925 trophy.

01:12:58

Yeah, that's pretty— that's pretty disgusting that they did that.

01:13:01

They bought the team and they're like, actually, we are going to take this.

01:13:03

So yeah, his name was— the original owner was Charles Bidwell. His nickname was Blue Shirt Charlie.

01:13:10

Okay.

01:13:11

And he ran a racing stable or racing racecourse. He's a racehorse guy.

01:13:16

I do love, by the way, when you go through the NFL history and everyone's like disgusted that gambling has become synonymous with the NFL and drafting stuff. Like, dude, just do a little history lesson on how the league started because a lot of these guys were horse racing bookies, all that stuff.

01:13:31

Yeah. So, so I guess maybe I'm reading this wrong, but he— so he made his money in horse racing and then he bought shares and he loaned— he loaned money to George Halas.

01:13:42

Yeah.

01:13:43

To keep it afloat. And then essentially is like claiming titles and games won while his money was still out on the street. He's like, that's my— because I, I loaned you. Yeah, he's a loan shark.

01:13:53

Yeah, yeah. And they think— it's just, fuck this Bidwell guy, fuck the family, fuck— I mean, the Cardinals fans, I know they might not be the, the strongest fan base. There's a lot of transplants that live in Arizona, so their home crowds have it tough. I get all that, but they're still a strong, like, you know, dedicated diehard group of fans. And they get screwed over by this guy. He's, he's, he's cheap. He doesn't want to win. They don't, they don't hire the right people. He's been like investigated for a million different things. They always get Fs. Sell the team.

01:14:25

All right.

01:14:26

I, I don't have a cool throw because that was a lot. I talked too much. Oh, cool throw. Yeah. Axel Lindberg. He's really good.

01:14:32

Yeah, he's off to a good start.

01:14:34

Stephen Chase said that he is the NBA Rookie of the Year and it's not even even close. That's been 3 games, but yeah, not even close. He is averaging 21, 9, and 4.

01:14:45

Caleb Wilson.

01:14:46

Caleb Wilson has been very good, but the problem is the Bulls stink. Yeah, stink. So it's hard to win Rookie of the Year when your team stinks.

01:14:54

Caleb Wilson's good.

01:14:55

He's really good.

01:14:56

He's fun.

01:14:56

I, like I said on— we were talking about it off air— Bulls just got to find a way to find like 2 more Caleb Wilsons and then we'd be cooking.

01:15:04

He's just, he's just the most athletic dude on the court.

01:15:06

He's got it. And he's— he everywhere on the court he can score from. And it's fun to watch, but the team is bad. All right, anything else from the booth? Because Zach's out.

01:15:16

Shane?

01:15:18

Sorry for the long-winded bidwell, but I fucking hate these type of owners. They're just the worst. They absolutely drive me insane. They screw over the fans time and time again, and no one speaks up about it, and it just drives me nuts. They don't care about winning. Get someone who cares about winning. Shane?

01:15:34

Shout out to Devils Connor Hellebuyck.

01:15:36

Okay.

01:15:36

Yeah.

01:15:36

Nice trade.

01:15:36

Yep.

01:15:37

Shout out to them.

01:15:38

Nice.

01:15:38

Nice.

01:15:39

Okay, cool.

01:15:41

We're going to talk to Booger a lot about college football. I have a question for you, Big Cat, because I watched a lot of games this weekend. Yeah, there was, there's a lot of bad football on TV. Yeah. But there are some very exciting games too.

01:15:53

Yeah.

01:15:55

Is Lenore Sellers good is my question. That's my prompt for you because I've, I've gone back and forth the last 2 years watching him and thought to myself, this guy is the best player on the field and then thought to myself, this guy sucks. And it's like week to week. Yeah. But when he's good, it feels like he's awesome. It feels like he's the best guy. So I don't know. My, my question is just, is Lenore Sellers good?

01:16:15

I don't know the answer to that, but I will say Lenore Sellers does things that very few, if not anyone, can do. That touchdown he scored with that second effort against Tennessee, I don't know another quarterback that can do that. Like, that was the strength, body control. Everything involved was insane. And when he's on, when he looks good, he looks great. So I think it's to be determined, but also yes. Is that a good answer?

01:16:45

I think he's good.

01:16:46

To be determined, but yes.

01:16:48

I think he's good, but sometimes good players have bad games.

01:16:51

Yeah.

01:16:52

He's a good player that will have a great game.

01:16:54

Look at—

01:16:55

scroll up, Max, if you're looking for the touchdown that I'm talking about. This is, this is the The effort. It was— he had like— he was— he's already slowed down and then had a defender running full, full speed at him to like push him back, and he still was able to find a way in. He's, he's very fun. This is kind of another one of those— I don't want to do the 2014 playoff thing because— but South Carolina is one of those weird teams where it's like they could beat anyone on any day. They could also lose and look absolutely terrible and be a garbage team. But what a fucking effort. That's—

01:17:33

he's so good.

01:17:33

That's a man right there.

01:17:34

He's good.

01:17:35

What are you gonna say, Max?

01:17:38

Max? I got nothing.

01:17:39

You got nothing?

01:17:39

I got nothing.

01:17:40

Nothing?

01:17:40

I'm thinking about something, but I'm not ready to say it.

01:17:42

Say it real quick. Say it.

01:17:45

What if in the 2014 playoff— I saw someone talk about this online and I like the idea. If you make the Big Ten and the SEC championship like the second round of it.

01:17:57

How? This is why you weren't ready to say it.

01:18:02

That— yeah, I wasn't ready.

01:18:04

No, no, I agree.

01:18:04

So you, you put me into a spot I wasn't ready to go into.

01:18:08

I agree, because I'm trying to think about it and I don't— I don't know how.

01:18:12

I may have bookmarked it. I probably didn't.

01:18:14

I don't— I don't know.

01:18:15

But wouldn't that also ensure that like 2 very, very good SEC teams and 2 very, very good—

01:18:20

They would never agree.

01:18:21

Big Ten teams in the playoffs.

01:18:23

They get—

01:18:24

I understand that if you finish in the top 2, you get a bye.

01:18:28

I forget how it went.

01:18:29

Okay, cool.

01:18:30

Well, I was ready to say it. I wasn't ready to say it.

01:18:32

I don't think that the leagues would want their best 2 teams playing against each other and then having one be eliminated early on in the playoffs.

01:18:38

No, but it would be— they get the winner of that is in the Final Four. Hmm.

01:18:45

Don't like that either.

01:18:47

No, I wasn't ready to say it.

01:18:48

Yeah. Okay.

01:18:50

This isn't my fault.

01:18:52

01:21:15

Okay.

01:21:15

We now welcome on a very, very special guest. It is our dear friend Booger McFarland on to talk some ball, some college, some NFL. Boog, always great to see you. I feel like we're right in that, that sweet spot of the football season. Where we figured out a lot of things, but we still have a lot of football left. Do you want to start with college? Because college has been fantastic.

01:21:40

Well, first of all, let's start with some housekeeping. Okay. Number one, um, make sure you make a note to send me, send me the book because I still haven't got my copy of the book.

01:21:49

Okay, done.

01:21:50

On it.

01:21:51

Done.

01:21:51

On it right now.

01:21:52

Are you gonna read it or do you just want it?

01:21:54

No, I'm gonna read the book. Anything with my face is on it, I'm definitely gonna read it.

01:21:57

Okay.

01:21:57

I got people I got people coming up to me at restaurants telling me, man, it's so cool that you're in the book. I'm like, yeah, it would be cool if I could see it. So just so you know, uh, your people and my people are vibing. And, uh, I get contacted at restaurants from total strangers. But it's cool that your demo feels very comfortable coming up and having conversations with me because sometimes it'll just be like 4 or 5 like dudes at a table and there's just this random middle-aged white guy just pops up and starts interrupting the conversation. He says, yeah, hey man, I just love you on Pardon My Take. And I'm like, you know what, those are my guys, man.

01:22:38

Yeah, those are people. Yeah, they're very— they have very low filter when it comes to interrupting dinners. Yes, yes, you're 100% correct.

01:22:45

Yeah. I'm buying it right now, by the way. I'm buying it right now and sending it to you, so that will be done. You'll have that within, I don't know, You know, you'll probably— with Amazon, you'll probably have a drone, you know, dropping into your pool later on today.

01:22:56

Exactly.

01:22:56

Yeah.

01:22:56

Yeah.

01:22:57

Yeah. Okay. So any other housekeeping?

01:23:00

No, we're good. Let's, let's do it.

01:23:02

All right. I've been, I've been working out. I've been, I've been lifting. I've been walking. The results are going to take a little bit of time. I'm not going to do like a big torso reveal until maybe Super Bowl week, but I just want to let you know I am taking care of myself.

01:23:15

As it pertains to the walking, is this level walking or are we doing like uphill? Incline walking? Like, give me a little breakdown of this walk.

01:23:24

The walk right now has been, uh, just in my neighborhood because it's been an unbelievable October in Chicago, and I want— okay, I'm trying to get outside knowing that the winter's on its way. When I'm on the treadmill, I do a little bit of incline. I go about— I do incline at 11 and the speed's at like 3.3, try to get like a mile and a half, 2 miles in.

01:23:48

Yeah.

01:23:49

How's that?

01:23:51

I love it. Okay, I would just add one thing for you that will— it's gonna seem a little weird and you'll probably not want to do it because it's going to attract a lot of attention. When you're walking, especially if you have— if you're walking in like an open area or you whatever, in a park in Chicago, walk backwards for like 20 seconds, turn around, walk forward for like 30 seconds, and alternate walking backwards. Whole different feel, buddy.

01:24:14

Okay, okay, I like that. Yeah, that's gonna look stupid. I'm gonna look really stupid.

01:24:18

Well, no question.

01:24:19

Yeah. All right. Let's, let's— yeah, already looks stupid.

01:24:22

All right.

01:24:22

Let's talk some college football. So this past weekend, we were joking about it on, on Monday's show. What I love about this season in college football is it feels like every week has a theme or has a main character. 2 weeks ago, it was the SEC because we had Georgia lose and Alabama lose and all this stuff. And it was, you know, Tennessee gets the big win this week. It was the Big 12 with, you know, BYU losing to UCF and the Utah-Houston game and just chaos everywhere. In your mind, and I want to start with the Big 12, how many, how many teams in the Big 12 are going to be in the playoffs? And do you think they actually have a chance to go, you know, like deep? I'm talking semifinals, finals. Like Texas Tech lost to Cincy. It was a crazy Big 12 weekend.

01:25:15

I think when you look at the Big 12, I think top of mind, you know, the top teams that we look at— BYU, Utah, Texas Tech— like, to me, those are going to be the teams that are going to be right there. I think that, you know, Houston, Connor Wigman, Willie Fritz, they're doing an outstanding job there, but they just fall— they fell a little short to Utah. Texas Tech losing to Cincinnati. I think when it's all said and done, I think you're going to wind up— BYU is going to be the best team in the Big 12. It's just something about a guy wearing number 47 playing quarterback, Bear Bachmeier.

01:25:51

Yep.

01:25:52

I don't put much on the loss. Yeah, they lost to UCF. That's a tough trip, man, to go 2,000 miles from Provo, Utah, to Orlando, Florida. I got news for you fellas. It's still 85 and sunny here in Florida. All right. Those guys who came from Provo, Utah, they hadn't felt humidity probably in the last 2 years. And it was warm. The bounce house was moving. And so that, that was— if there's any such thing as a good loss, I don't look at that loss as a bad loss because they walked into a hornet's nest. I like what Utah is doing. Devin Dampierre. I think the holy war is going to be something fierce when you talk about BYU and Utah. But I think in the end, I think BYU is the best team in the Big 12. I think Texas Tech is not what we thought they were going to be, just repeating last year to this year. Just not the same defense, I think. I'm not sure that Will Hamlin is as good as what they had last year at the quarterback position. So I'm going to lean toward BYU.

01:26:54

Yeah, you're right about that. You're right about Texas Tech. It's not only like offensively, They're not the same. But yeah, like the loss of like a David Bailey, Rodriguez, like all these guys that were just— we kind of took for granted Cody Campbell is going to be able to go and just pluck these guys all around the country. It's like, no, that was a pretty special defense last year with some really good pros. And to replicate that, it's very difficult to do.

01:27:19

Completely agree. And by the way, how about Cody Campbell just goes to Twitter and just says, hey, we shouldn't be losing to Cincinnati. It's amazing. you know, when you got the money, you can, you know, you can say whatever you want to say, right?

01:27:31

Yep. Yeah, yeah, big time.

01:27:32

What about, what about the Big Ten? Because I feel like nobody really knows who the best team in the Big Ten is with Saheem being knocked out. Who knows, he might be out for a couple weeks, might be out, I guess, indefinitely now is what the word is. Um, but if it's not Ohio State, who is the team from the Big Ten? Because I don't think that there's a dominant team in the Big Ten right now.

01:27:52

No, there's no dominant team. I, I, you know, in situations like this where the teams are so close, I'm gonna lean towards the team that I think has the best coach, and that's Indiana.

01:28:00

Mm-hmm.

01:28:01

Uh, although Signetti seems so pissed off with Josh Hoover, it's unreal. Uh, he was like, I, I should have benched him this weekend. And I know there's some injury concern, and I get all that. Uh, Sanne to me seems like Ohio State is gonna probably take a step back. Julian Sanne, I don't think he plays again this year, guys. I, I think if you look at the elbow, it seems very similar to what Carson Beck had, and Carson Beck couldn't throw a ball for 9 months. I don't know if it's the same, but it just seems similar to me. I think Indiana is the best team in the Big Ten. I think UCLA and what Bob Chesney are doing— how about that head of hair, by the way? Bob Chesney.

01:28:36

Yep.

01:28:37

People in Penn State wish they would have pulled the trigger on that deal, but that's a whole different story. I think Indiana, I think UCLA, just because they understand who they are, their identity is really good. You know, I'm not discounting Ohio State. Uh, depending upon what Ryan Day can do at the quarterback position. But I think right now I would lean toward Indiana, UCLA. I love— and I know they may not win the Big Ten, and probably not, but I love what Chip Kelly and Northwestern are doing. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it is, it is phenomenal. I texted Chip and I simply said, hey, can you come up with any more run plays in the A-gap? Like, every time I look up, you're just running up the A-gap somewhere. He's got so many different formations Uh, Northwestern's playing really good football. I think those are the teams. And, and Michigan, now that they've seemingly— No, hold on, hold on, hold on. I'm not saying Michigan is, is, is competing, but I will say this: I like this version of Michigan with Tommy Carr better than I did the version of Michigan with Bryce Underwood. And I know, I know Portnoy may not like that, but to me, Tommy Carr is a better quarterback at this stage than Bryce Underwood.

01:29:48

It seems they haven't mentioned— what about, what about Minnesota? It seems like they're really, uh, rallying behind their coach, who's kind of, you know, he's putting everybody in front of him. He doesn't need the spotlight. He's like, you know, gather around, guys. This is going to be about you. It's not about me. Um, and we're all about the Golden Gophers here, not about the, the name on the front of the coach's office. Been fun to see.

01:30:08

I love it. All right, listen, hey, PJ Fleck, baby, row the boat. I love it. I love— listen, I'm not a boat guy, but I don't mind any— definitely not going to row the boat. I'm going to put a motor on the back of it.

01:30:18

Yeah.

01:30:18

Motor, put the boat forward. So, but as far as Minnesota's concerned, Minnesota has some good wins, man. Like so far, I love what Minnesota's doing. I just don't know if they have the top-end talent to be able to compete when it's— when you start talking about competing with Indiana, when you start talking about competing with Ohio State, UCLA, like those are the top teams in the Big Ten. But Indiana's having a nice year. Nothing against it. Listen, nothing against Indiana. There's some football left to be played and Indiana's going to get their opportunity. They're going to have to prove me wrong, though, as far as I would lean toward the other teams. Yeah.

01:30:53

And would, would you consider Oregon to be the biggest disappointment this year?

01:30:58

Yeah. I mean, when you think about cost of roster relative to expectation relative to reality. Yeah, 100%. Um, and the fact that the head coach is firing the offensive coordinator, the fact that they have 3 losses already, the quarterback is not coming back, which I don't blame him. I mean, he, he was knocked out. There's no need for him to come back this year on a team that's got 3 losses. And Dan Lanning, like, someone made this statement, and you tell— you guys tell me if you, if you think this is true. I didn't say this, I heard it. Let me preface.

01:31:31

I like it.

01:31:31

Someone said, someone said Dan Lanning is the James Franklin of the West Coast.

01:31:36

Yeah. Okay. Right now it's, it's, it's feeling that way because listen, he's had incredible years, but they've always lost when it comes to playing the big game, when it comes to the playoffs or, you know, that, that big moment they've gotten embarrassed. And what happened to James Franklin last year? What happened was he started losing the small games too.

01:31:56

Yeah.

01:31:57

And Dan Lanning losing to an Illinois team that has been really, really bad this year. That, like, he had Dante Moore out for the rest of the year. He's not coming back, which I— listen, I have no problem with that. I think he's probably making a smart decision of like, hey, this season's over.

01:32:13

I would just say that, like, it's— that's a little disrespectful to, to James Franklin because the body of work that James Franklin put into losing the big games, the track record there was 11 years. Dan Lanning's a flash in the pan compared to James Franklin. Let's, let's pump the brakes on that.

01:32:28

Well, he's been there, what, 5 years?

01:32:31

Yeah, 4 years. I think he's been there 4 years. And, and I think James Franklin was at Penn State 11 years. All I'm saying, just like a little respect for, for the body of work that, that Coach Franklin put out there.

01:32:42

Yeah, yeah. I mean, James Franklin was like, he was what, oh, at one point he was like 0-10 against everybody, uh, uh, 0-10 against Michigan and, uh, right, and Penn State and, uh, Ohio State.

01:32:52

No, no, he had that one win. Remember, it was that one win that that he like kept on going back to. I think it was like 2016 or something.

01:32:58

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

01:32:59

The one win.

01:32:59

I— the one thing I love about, uh, right now in the, in college football and like kind of the parity that we have, it feels like we are getting to a point in the schedule where there's just a lot of elimination games. Like we're talking about the Big Ten. By the way, I think Indiana's still the, the class of the Big Ten. I know Hoover's been disappointing. Their defense is a top, top, like whatever you want to call it, top 3 defense. They'll be in every game. If they can get Hoover to kind of figure out a little bit, because they have the wide receivers. But Wisconsin— my Badgers playing Iowa this weekend, both 2-loss teams. The winner of that game, the door is open, because I do think that we're in a world where a 2-loss Big Ten or SEC team is almost automatically in.

01:33:43

I wouldn't say automatically. I think if you get to 10-2, then you feel really comfortable going to sleep at night about the playoffs. I think there's going to be one, maybe two 9-3 teams, but those, those two teams are going to come from the SEC and the Big Ten. Now, who they are, I'm not sure. I think if you can get to 10-2, you feel really good. 9-3, boy, it's going to be some sleepless nights because now you're depending upon what happens in other situations, what happened in other games. Let me throw this to you now since we're, since we're on the record. Let's say Notre Dame loses to Miami, and Notre Dame is 10-2.

01:34:19

I think they're out.

01:34:20

I know they have the provision that if they're in the top 12, they're in the playoff. Yep. Do you think— do you think a 10-2 Notre Dame losing their 2 biggest games of the season to BYU and Miami, you think they get in?

01:34:32

I think that it will weirdly come down to a team that I have very little faith in, uh, that Notre Dame will not control their own destiny. Will all come down to SMU. is if SMU can get to the Notre Dame game with only one loss and potentially— because I think they have Wake Forest coming up—

01:34:53

Yeah.

01:34:54

SMU could potentially be a top 10 team, giving Notre Dame another chance for a big win. That might be how they get in. If SMU loses to Syracuse or loses to Virginia Tech, or it's— if that matchup, SMU versus Notre Dame, is an— is unranked SMU, I think Notre Dame's gonna have a hard time getting in. with 2 losses and the basically the only 2 really good teams they played losing to them.

01:35:19

I'll say this. I think they get in, but I would not want to be an Irish or Catholic sitting there 10-2 on Selection Sunday because of what happened last year. And, and to your point, if SMU is not— like, if the SMU-Notre Dame game is not a top 10 game.

01:35:37

Yeah.

01:35:38

And SMU is ranked like 23, 24 or not ranked. Then you start to get really, really nervous if you're an Irish.

01:35:45

Yeah, there's just not enough. That's the problem with their schedule. It's like they can't pick up those big wins down the stretch that, that, you know, get them to a point where they're in. So yeah, I, I also think it depends on how they lose to Miami. If they lost a close one, that's different. If they got blown out, I think it's kind of, you know, pack it up, boys. It's, it's not happening.

01:36:06

Yeah, if it's a blowout. But if it's, if it's relatively close, I think, I think they gotta get in.

01:36:10

I don't think they have the provision, so they probably will.

01:36:12

They wrote themselves into the playoffs. Yeah, yeah, it'd be pretty much breaking the law to leave them out. Jumping back to UCLA real quick, because looking at their schedule, there's a chance that UCLA goes undefeated through the Big Ten season. There is a chance. They should be favored in every game that they play from here on out, except we don't know who the quarterback's gonna be. And the reason why I say they still should be favored is because they haven't been overly reliant on a passing game. They haven't had spectacular play from the quarterback position. even when they had Nico back there. Um, do we know anything about what they're going to do at quarterback? Is it going to be Nico's brother Madden? Is Madden— Madden—

01:36:49

No, it's been the kid, and forgive me if I screw his name up, I think his name is Diesenbach.

01:36:53

Yeah, Diesenbach. Yeah, but he got hurt, he got injured in the last— so I don't know if he's, if he's going to miss extended time. If he's out—

01:37:02

I haven't heard that. You know, usually Pete Thamel comes out with the Wednesday— with the injury report on a Wednesday night. You start seeing tweets about injuries Uh, but to me it really doesn't matter because of the style that Chesney wants to play. Like, this little running back Bam Knight is outstanding. They brought— they brought him over from James— from, uh, James Madison.

01:37:20

Wayne Knight.

01:37:20

With him. Yeah, like, he, he's brought— he's brought a lot of those guys. It's— everybody says it's like Signetti. He brought a lot of guys with him from JMU to Indiana. Uh, now Chesney has done the same thing from JMU out to UCLA. But what that creates, it creates an identity. Like UCLA is a physical football team. They ran the football down Oregon's throat. Like, that's what they do to you. They line up and they just beat the hell out of you. And Chesney is a really, really good coach. I saw a special on him, a little segment where kind of they followed the coaches around at practice. Man, the culture that he creates is the same type of culture that you want when you can't wait to get to work. Like, you can't wait to get to work because you know you're gonna laugh, you're gonna have some fun, you're gonna work hard. Like, that's the camaraderie that you got to have. And you can tell why he's a good coach based on that little snippet of video that I saw. But they run the football and they control the line of scrimmage. They get after you from a defensive line standpoint.

01:38:15

So that's a formula. Now, they're going to be in every ballgame no matter who the quarterback is. And if little Iomali Aba comes in, as long as he doesn't screw it up, they'll be okay.

01:38:26

Yeah.

01:38:26

Yeah.

01:38:26

Hand the ball off. What about the SEC, Booger? Let's talk about your LSU Tigers and the rest of the SEC. Because they keep cannibalizing themselves. It's like whoever's good in the SEC, they go on, they lose the next week. So are we at the point now where, uh, we're gonna see LSU now kind of ascend for the rest of the regular season back to the top where we thought that they would be, uh, over the next few weeks?

01:38:47

Well, the opportunity's there. Uh, they got a week off this week, and then if, if they are— if LSU goes 3-1 or 4-0, I think they're in the playoffs. They got uh, Bama at home, they got Texas at home, they got to go to Rocky Top, and then they go, uh, to Pig Sui. So everything is right in front of them. Um, I think Sam Leavitt's playing really, really good football right now. He finally understands. They got Tre'Dez Green back. They just beat the hell out of Auburn. So now you get a week off, and I think if you're at, you know, 6-2 the first 8, you lose on the last play against Kentucky, you lose basically on the last play against Ole Miss, I think LSU and Lane feel really good, uh, about where they are, aside from the fact that the SEC office put the Alabama game at 2:30. Other than that, I think they feel really, really good about where they are.

01:39:35

Yeah, yeah.

01:39:37

Go ahead.

01:39:37

I was just gonna say, like, we talked about Notre Dame, it's, it's a law that they get written into the college football playoff. LSU has a law where anytime they play a big game, 2 ranked teams playing, it has to be at night. You guys always get that night game, right?

01:39:50

I think that's a reaction to, you know, everything that's been going on, the pissing match that's been going on between Baton Rouge and Birmingham. I think— I'm not saying that that has something to do with it, but I'm not saying it doesn't have anything to do with it, right?

01:40:03

Right.

01:40:04

Um, Kentucky, um, man, Kentucky's schedule, man, is, is very— I think it's very favorable. They've only lost one conference game. Kentucky has an opportunity, man, um, even though they may not be the most talented team in the conference. Kentucky's is gonna wind up with a really good record. Yeah, I think the best— I think the best team in the SEC right now, if you ask me to pick one, I'd say Georgia.

01:40:26

Yep.

01:40:26

Because I— because even though they lost to Auburn, it was kind of fluky. I mean, Gunnar Stockton turned the ball over 3 times. Uh, it was just a weird game. I think Georgia is the best team. Um, I think Alabama's only got 2 losses. They got it. They got a schedule in front of them that's, that's right there. I think when you look at, um, you know, Texas is an anomaly, man, just because, um, if you, if you listen to everything that's going on, it's like, man, the sky's falling. But Texas, Texas has what, 2 losses, right?

01:41:00

Yep.

01:41:01

Texas got 2 losses, and if they went out there in the playoff and everybody says Archer's terrible, like, we're at the point, Big Cat, to your, to your, um um, point earlier in the, in the podcast. Everybody now knows who they are.

01:41:17

Yeah.

01:41:17

But everybody has enough football in front of them where they can still accomplish all their goals. I think Alabama, I think LSU, I think Ole Miss, I think Texas, Georgia, Kentucky— like, all those teams are— have everything right there in front of them. And I think November 7th, next Saturday— not this Saturday, next Saturday— to me is going to determine a lot. Ole Miss— excuse me, Georgia at Ole Miss. If Georgia wins that game, I think Georgia kind of solidifies themselves. If Ole Miss wins that game, now Georgia's got 2 losses. Yeah, it's like Ole Miss, Bama, LSU. Whoever wins that game, it's not an elimination game, but it feels like it.

01:41:56

Yeah.

01:41:57

Okay, because whoever loses that game is gonna have 3 losses in the SEC. So I think November 7th has an opportunity to be one of the biggest days in college football in recent memory. Yeah, it's one of those days where you wake up, you take the, take the walk, or you tell the wife, hey, take the kids to Disneyland and y'all just hang out all day. Yeah. And we're just going to sit back and just watch football from— I think there's a game. I think the Holy War's like 10 AM, isn't it?

01:42:25

No, 10 AM local. It's noon Eastern, but 10 AM local, which is crazy. I don't know why they did that. The Holy War, they're thinking the WNBA By the way, by the way, Booger does live in Florida, so when he says take your kids to Disneyland, I don't know if anyone else could do that, but I like that. Uh, yeah, I mean, you wake up, get the donuts.

01:42:41

Yeah.

01:42:41

And you're ready to go.

01:42:42

What about— yeah, are we gonna get to, uh, to this Saturday? And if Florida— if Florida wins, should we be taking them seriously too?

01:42:52

Florida is a, is a really flawed team. However, they haven't lost since they switched quarterbacks. And I'm very curious who starts the game. Is it going to be Aaron Follow or Trammell Jones?

01:43:02

Mm-hmm.

01:43:03

I would start Trammell Jones just because I think you don't lose much as a passer and you gain much more athletic ability. So I'm not sure what John Sumrall is going to do. It's basically a Georgia home game in the Georgia Dome. I think Florida is going to play really, really well. Florida's defensive line is outstanding. I think that game is going to be a 4th quarter game. Yeah, Georgia, Florida. What about this? What if Florida beats Georgia and Ole Miss beats Georgia? Then Georgia's eliminated. Like, the next few weeks are going to really determine— the next 2 weeks, specifically November 7th, I think determines who wins the SEC.

01:43:38

Yeah, it's, it's, it is going to be awesome to watch. And there are just like all these like elimination games where it—

01:43:46

Hey, by the way, by the way, I know you guys went down to Baton Rouge and hung out with Lane. Are you guys going back down for a game at all?

01:43:53

Uh, funny you mentioned, Book, I'm gonna be down there that weekend of the Alabama game. Are you gonna be there?

01:43:59

No, I gotta work. But I was gonna tell you guys, if you, if you're looking for a game to go to, the Alabama game will be cool just because they hate us, we hate them. I got a feeling that the Texas game will be at night.

01:44:10

Yeah.

01:44:11

And Arch Manning in Baton Rouge, you have to understand that the Mannings are not really a fan of LSU, so it's gonna be It's gonna— and they'll be in the stands. So it's, it's, it's, it's a lot of like, depending on what happens November 7th, that game Texas at LSU has the makings of an all-timer.

01:44:28

You should, you should come to LSU that weekend. On Friday night, uh, my band is opening up for Shaq at Fred's. It's gonna be great.

01:44:35

You know what, send the jet, I'll come. I just gotta be back in Connecticut by, by 1 o'clock on Saturday.

01:44:42

Yeah, it should be, it should be a good time. Um, what about, what about Miami? Or is Miami just the best team in college football?

01:44:49

Miami is the best team in the ACC. Um, I think at their best they have— I think they're, they're healthier and they have more talent than anybody. Now the talent hasn't quite lived up to the billing yet. The defensive line isn't as productive as it was last year with Bane and Mesidor, even though they got Moten They got Lightfoot, they got Armando Blount, they got Damon Wilson. Like, though they got a bunch of names, but those guys haven't played to the level of Bane and Messidor just yet. They can beat you a number of ways, man. They got Mallory, they got Fletcher Jr. at tailback, Darian Mensah. I don't think he, uh, misses very many passes. I think his completion percentage is like 80 on the year. Uh, and then Malachi Tony is the best— um, he, he's, he's not the best receiver, he's the most versatile receiver in the country. I'm not going to disrespect Jeremiah Smith. I think Jeremiah Smith is the second coming of Calvin Johnson. But Malachi Tony can do it all. And with the ball in his hands, like, he does that run after catch. He's unreal. And he's a dog, man.

01:45:51

Like, he is a true dog. Miami is super talented. But can we say that Miami's been tested?

01:45:57

Like, no.

01:45:58

Florida State— I don't think either. I don't think anybody thought they were going to lose to Florida State regardless of what, what was going on. Have they been tested? Will Notre Dame test Miami? And so you have to wonder if Miami goes through this season and let's say they beat Notre Dame or they walk over Notre Dame and they get to the— and they get to the playoffs and they go against, I don't know, Georgia. Do we really know what we're going to get? Because they haven't been tested. But I will give you— I will give you this. Up until this point right now, they've been the— they've been the best team week in and week out in college football.

01:46:31

Yeah. And they got to run. I love watching Fletcher run the ball.

01:46:35

Yeah, he's, he's a big kid.

01:46:36

Powerful dude.

01:46:37

Yeah.

01:46:38

Uh, Boog, do you have a— let's just do a touch on the NFL real quick.

01:46:43

Yeah.

01:46:44

Can you give me— let's go, let's do 3 teams in the AFC, 3 teams in the NFC you think can win the Super Bowl, because I actually think the list is getting smaller and smaller, and there's maybe some teams that are— I don't want to call frauds, but like, they've had a nice start, but I don't know if I trust them, uh, when we get to late season football.

01:47:05

Um, let's start in the AFC. Buffalo, um, Josh Allen, complete freak. Uh, Joe Brady is more of a risk-taker than Sean McDermott. Whether or not that's good or bad, we're gonna find out. I'm just telling you what his DNA is. I think Cincinnati with Joe Burrow, okay, if they're healthy, like Cincinnati can be a juggernaut, man. Like they are, they are a wagon when they're healthy, especially if Sexy Dex is motivated. The defensive line is really good. Uh, I would go Cincinnati.

01:47:37

Um, this is where it gets tough.

01:47:39

I— the, the easy pick is Kansas City.

01:47:43

Yep.

01:47:44

But my biggest fear with Kansas City happened to them Sunday night. When you can't run the ball and play bully ball, who the hell are they throwing the football to? Yeah, yeah, they got like, like they got nobody at receiver.

01:47:57

Yeah.

01:47:58

Nobody.

01:48:00

I, I agree. I, I like— I know we'll see, we'll find out on Sunday because they play each other, but I think I trust the Broncos more than I trust the Chiefs right now because I just think the Broncos defense is such a strong unit that if Bo Nix can get a little bit out of his own head, that team's a really tough out. And the Jaguars, the other one out there.

01:48:21

That's exactly where I was gonna go. So if you told me the hierarchy I'm going— it's going to be Buffalo, Cincinnati, Denver, Jacksonville, and the asterisk is going to be by Kansas City just because my biggest fear for them happened on Sunday night when some people say, hey, Kenneth Walker, you're not running the ball now. You're going to ask Worthy, Rashee Rice, and Kelce, who— I mean, Kelce is still doing it, but he's not the Kelce of old. So those will be my teams in the in the AFC. NFC, um, man, I think Seattle, regardless of what the record is. I love the coach. I love what they do. San Francisco, I just don't know how healthy they're gonna be by the time the tournament starts. Like, every year we get this same question. Like, Kyle Shanahan is a great coach, but damn, even, even Chef Emeril, he needs some ingredients to cook. Like, he can't cook on— he can't cook air. He needs something.

01:49:20

Yep.

01:49:22

Then see Seattle, San Francisco. I'm out on the Rams. I'm just gonna be honest with you. I'm out.

01:49:30

Fair.

01:49:31

Yeah, well, yeah, it's very fair. I mean, what are they now, 3-4? Like, I'm out. I'm— even when Myles Garrett gets back, even at some point Davante Adams is gonna come back in like 8 or 10 weeks. Like, Matthew is older. Like, I'm out. Green to Chicago. Yeah, Chicago to me, if you told me right now today you can hang your hat on one team, it's gonna be Chicago. My only question, Big Cat, about your team in Chicago is, man, like, like, if— can you hold a team under 24 every week? Like, can we do that?

01:50:07

Big, big time question. That's, that's totally fair. Uh, cornerback position's been tough. defensive line. Dennis Allen is a really good coach. I think we're punching above our weight when it comes to that. But yeah, this— I honestly think like the Monday night game, Seattle versus— the Bears are going to Seattle. I'm very excited for that game because it's like, hey, let's see where we— I think Seattle's the top. I'm not going to argue that. They've done it.

01:50:33

Statement game.

01:50:33

Yeah, that is the measuring stick. It's, it's, are you really, really for real? Depending on how you play against the Seahawks in Seattle, who have made a lot of quarterbacks look really bad. Like, that's just a fact.

01:50:45

So, and I would add to this, you see, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not the guy, which is why I threw Seattle, Seattle in there. I'm not big just because your record says you like— nah, I get it. But like, do we all think Minnesota— like, if I told you Minnesota was a Super Bowl contender, would you say true or false? False.

01:51:03

I would say let me see these next 4 games because I think their next 4 games are Bills, Lions, Packers, Niners. Let me see those next 4 games against truly elite offenses.

01:51:14

I would say false right now because we haven't—

01:51:16

we—

01:51:16

the offense, I don't think you can say with a straight face that the offense is Super Bowl caliber.

01:51:20

No.

01:51:20

Nobody would say that. So like, they're a deeply flawed football team when it comes to that side of the ball. I do trust their coach. I think he's a good offensive mind. So there's definitely a possibility that they can figure something out and become an average to above-average offense, in which case, yes, I would say that they are definitely a Super Bowl contender. But right now, no.

01:51:39

Let me just throw out one thing. Okay. And I agree with what PFT said, but I'm just going to, I'm going to throw out devil's advocate just for fun.

01:51:46

Right. Okay.

01:51:48

Last year we all kind of said like early in the season, the Seahawks were what, like 30 to 1 or something outside the, the Super Bowl favorite list. They started, I think I want to say 3 and 2. Remember there was that one Sam Darnold game too where he threw a a bunch of picks. Their defense is really, really good, but is their offense that good? We don't know. I, I'm not saying they're the same because I do think the Seahawks— like, I don't think the Vikings are there. But could you squint your eyes and see like, hey, this defense is so elite, they have Justin Jefferson at JSN comp, can maybe Jordan Mason get running? I don't know.

01:52:28

Like, Seattle had a great running game last year. Yeah, yeah.

01:52:31

And I think, I think the Vikings, like, their running game has not been good. They also have been injured. I'm just saying, like, to throw it out there, like, their defense is giving them a little bit of leeway where if their offense can catch up a little bit, that's a— that's just an insane defensive unit right now.

01:52:47

You know, to your point, um, Boomer and I described the Minnesota Vikings like this, is that defensive play caller is elite, defense is really elite, offensive play caller elite, offensive skill players elite quarterback though. Like, you just don't know what you're gonna get out of, out of the little guy, man. Like, and that's— he's the wild card. Like, yeah, like you have no idea what the little guy's gonna do.

01:53:11

That's why I love it.

01:53:12

Because you would say if I got Jefferson, Addison, Hockenson, Mason Jones Jr., man, we, we feel like we can score some points.

01:53:21

Yep.

01:53:21

Do you know, do you know Kyler Murray's only, uh, scored, I want to say, 5 touchdowns as the starting quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings?

01:53:28

It's been bad.

01:53:29

Like, that's terrible.

01:53:31

Yeah, yeah, they're leading towards their kicker.

01:53:35

So, um, I'm not a believer yet, PFT. I think I'm on your side. I need to see the next 3 or 4 weeks. Yeah, you go 3, you go 3-1 during that time, maybe even 2-2, I'll, I'll have a different outlook on the Minnesota Vikings.

01:53:50

Yeah, I think it could happen. I'm not saying that it can't happen right now. I don't think anyone can say like that's a you could picture that team as it's currently made up winning the Super Bowl. Although I guess the one argument against that would be we have seen like completely dominant defenses— That's what I'm saying. Drag their quarterback across the finish line in years past, but those are the exceptions. It's very, very rare and it would have to be truly like an elite once-in-a-generation defense to see that. I don't know if we can say that just yet. What do we— can we go back to the AFC real quick? Because there's 2 teams I wanted to talk to you about.

01:54:21

Sure, let's do it.

01:54:21

From the same division. Um, both have good records, but we did not include them in a mention of, uh, of one of the Super Bowl caliber teams. First is the Cleveland Browns. The Cleveland Browns—

01:54:33

There's a reason.

01:54:34

They win football games.

01:54:36

Yeah.

01:54:36

Do—

01:54:37

and, and you do not believe in the Cleveland Browns?

01:54:40

Well, I don't think you do either, but go ahead.

01:54:42

Well, not, not especially. Uh, I think that they've got a really, really good defense.

01:54:46

I think they got a really good defense. I've loved Jared Versus he's got over there, Denzel Ward. I love the linebacker, what's his name, from UCLA, Schwestinger or whatever. Like, he reminds me of a bigger version of UPFT. Like, he's got hair running everywhere. Yeah, like, I like him. Hell yeah. Um, but I mean, do we really know what we're gonna get out of Deshaun Watson?

01:55:06

No.

01:55:07

He's played well. I'll give him credit. He's played well this season, better than a lot of people thought. But do we honestly think we're gonna have him compete with Burrow, um, Josh Allen, and some of the other teams that we like on that side of, of the tournament? I, I don't. So yeah, it's a nice story. I love what they're doing. Happy for Todd Monken. He waited a long time to be a head coach. I don't put Cleveland in the Super Bowl contender category.

01:55:35

Okay, I, I was also going to ask you about the Steelers, but now just thinking about the Steelers, yeah, I don't believe that they're Super Bowl contenders either. They're, uh, above-average team, and the offense looks a little bit better. The running game's good, good defense. Um, so instead, let me ask you about the Houston Texans, because, yeah, you can tell us probably better than anybody what's wrong with the defense. Why does the defense that seemingly has the same pieces that it had in the past, same coaching, why, um, why do they look so different than we've seen the last couple years?

01:56:04

So here's what I'll say. Think about this, guys. Like, it's human nature. They— we told them last year, in the year before, it's the best defense that we've seen in a long time.

01:56:14

Mm-hmm.

01:56:15

Last year it was historic. So we went into this offseason, kept saying, man, if CJ Stroud returns back, this defense is dominant, this defense is historic. Here's the great thing about football. Football, you never are who you were. You have to do it again and again. And again, and I think human nature, a lot of those guys started seeing, man, we're great, man, we're great. They were on the COVID of Sports Illustrated. They were, they were being lauded as the defense like the 2002 Bucs or the, the '01 Ravens or whatever. Like these great defenses. They hadn't earned that yet. We got rings, buddy. We got hardware. They're putting you, they were putting neon in the category of some of the great defenses, and they hadn't earned those stripes. But human nature says this, man, I started listening, man, I think I'm pretty good, man. We all right. Cover Sports Illustrated, cool, we there. And they haven't played that way. And what happens is it's the little things, man. Think about what makes this podcast great. It's the little things. Like, anybody can get on here and talk and do all that, but What makes you guys great is the little details that make you you.

01:57:30

And the moment you stop doing the little shit, as Marinelli told me years ago, shit creeps in.

01:57:36

Yeah.

01:57:36

You don't want it to creep in.

01:57:37

Yeah.

01:57:37

Like, you gotta keep— you gotta keep doing the little things. And I see Houston is not doing the little things that they've done in the past. And it's— it's not like 10 or 15 things a game. It's a couple things here, it's a couple things there, but it's those things that cause you to lose ballgames. So I think that's the issue. Other than that, it's the same bodies other than Reed Blankenship. Yeah, it's the same bodies, same people. But how come the same people can't perform the same way?

01:58:04

Because this might— this might be a dumb thought that I had, but because the offense has been so bad in the past for the Texans and this year we're seeing signs of life from it, they've looked pretty good. Like CJ Stroud's played pretty good overall.

01:58:15

He's played well.

01:58:16

Yeah.

01:58:16

At the body of work. Is, is that kind of a thing where the defense has been used to being like having all the pressure on them? So like, we got to go out and win this game ourselves. And because they have an offense, you lose some of that edge, some of that, like, some of the small details that they had before when they knew that winning this game was 100% going to be on them over the last couple years. Does that— have you ever seen that creep into, uh, the mindset of a unit?

01:58:40

No. I'll give you an example. So when I was in Tampa, um, we were like 0-4, 0-5, man. We were terrible. We couldn't score any points. I got traded on a Tuesday afternoon. Wednesday morning, I got to Indiana and played for the Colts. That Sunday, playing for the Colts, I want to say the Colts came out. I want to say Peyton and the offense scored like 14 in the first quarter. I haven't seen 14 points in the first quarter in forever. It made me want to go play harder. Like, I was like, everybody's like, man, this dude is jacked up. I'm like, dude, y'all don't understand what it's like to have a quarterback and offense that can score points. Like, it makes the defense want to play harder. So if, if CJ Stroud is playing the way he is, which is really good football, I would think that the, that the defense would want to go out and know, hey, we got 14, 20. The offense has scored 30 points this year and they've lost.

01:59:33

Yeah, yeah.

01:59:35

Like, that's the most amazing thing. If I told you before the season CJ Stroud is good and the offense is going to score 30 in 12 games, you're saying, okay, Texans are winning all 12 of those.

01:59:46

100%.

01:59:47

They've lost 2 games they scored 30 in already. Yeah, this is crazy.

01:59:51

It is. It's a really good point too about, you know, just kind of reading your own press clippings. All right, Booger, I got one last question for you. It's actually a statement that I want you to assess. Uh, Roback, uh, it's the Roback question. rhoback.com, promo code TAKE, 20% off your first purchase. Q-zips, polos, hoodies, joggers, shorts. roback.com, promo code TAKE. Here's the statement. And you know it well. I made this statement on Monday and I want to, I want to hear your take. I am, and this might look really stupid in like 5 days, I'm buying Bucs stock right now because I said that the Bucs defense is the most reliable unit in the NFC South. They have to beat the Falcons, but if they beat the Falcons on Sunday, they are 100% right back in this thing. How do you, how do you see the rest of the Bucs season? Are they, are they kind of Hey, they got life in their back situation.

02:00:43

Bucs have life. If I'm Todd Bowles, I stand in front of the team tomorrow because players get today off. Tomorrow's the first day. Here's what I say, guys. We've played the toughest part of our schedule and we are one game out of first place in the, in the win column. And the team that's in first place in the win column, uh, is coming to our house, or we're playing them on Sunday in the Falcons. We've already beaten Carolina. Um, and so I think, yeah, I feel pretty good. If you— if I'm not gonna say feel pretty good, I feel better. They need to keep stockpiling wins though, because the team that I think ultimately is the most talented team in the division, uh, outside of Tampa is probably Atlanta. It's probably, probably Atlanta depending on whether Michael Penix shows up or not. You've beaten Carolina. The Saints can't run the football. Tyler Shook's been up and down. So I, I think if you're the Bucs, man, like, there's a glimmer of hope. I'm not saying you feel great, but I, I do think there's a glimmer of hope. So even as much as I want to say that your statement was stupid and dumb, um, I don't think it's 100% dumb.

02:01:50

I think that it has some dumbassery in it, but it's not all the way.

02:01:54

Hey, listen, the dumbassery might be the fact that I'm talking about Todd Bowles and I'm expecting him to to turn around. But I just— it's kind of a mess in the NFC South, and I always look for value. And it's like, the Bucs, if they gotta win on Sunday, that's all. If they lose on Sunday, it is over. I'm not gonna continue talking about them. But if they win on Sunday, it's kind of on, especially if the Panthers go to Lambeau and lose. Like, then it's— then it's really on.

02:02:17

So yeah, exactly. Which is very— it is very— and the Panthers and Lambeau, that's— that's Thursday night, right?

02:02:21

Yeah, that's Thursday night. So they'll know.

02:02:23

So I mean, so by the time Sunday afternoon, Panthers could have another loss. Bucs could have 3 wins, and now you're looking at, uh, everybody's got 3 wins in the NFC South.

02:02:33

Yeah, which is crazy to say. It's a disaster division. Um, all right, Boog, you're the best. Uh, by the way, you should get the book by tonight. That's how fast Amazon is.

02:02:42

Wow. Listen, I can't wait, and as soon as I get it, I'm gonna post about it. I definitely appreciate it. And, uh, yeah, always enjoy coming on with you fellas, man. And listen, man, Remember, don't worry about how you look walking backwards. Just worry— think about the benefits that you're gonna get.

02:02:58

I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna have someone video me. I'm gonna do it for you. I'm gonna send you a video of me walking backwards.

02:03:04

Yeah, walking backwards. And if you really want to do the advanced level, walk backwards uphill. Whole nother level.

02:03:10

All right, I'm gonna have those little weights on my ankles too. I'm gonna do the whole thing.

02:03:14

Yeah, exactly. No question.

02:03:16

Uh, all right, thanks, Boog. You're the best, man.

02:03:19

People think margaritas are just a summer drink. Like once Labor Day hits, you pack up the salt rim, you put the blender in storage, you switch to pumpkin spice something. Absolutely not. Margaritas aren't just for summer. I drink tequila year round. I'm a 4-season guy and that's why I keep it Cuervo. Football Sunday, keep it Cuervo. Tailgating in a parking lot when it's 38 degrees, big cat's complaining about his toes, margarita. Thanksgiving with the in-laws, someone's uncle brings up politics before the turkey's even out, You better believe I'm showing up with a bottle of Cuervo. If it's a classic marg on the rocks or a round with the boys when your team covers, Cuervo has been doing this for over 200 years. They know what they're doing. Summer's over. The margaritas aren't. Keep it Cuervo. Please drink responsibly with Cuervo.

02:04:57

Okay, let's wrap up the show. Max, did you find out the take that you had?

02:05:01

Nah.

02:05:02

You didn't?

02:05:03

Keep looking. I see you looking through brackets right now.

02:05:07

I've got to find this tweet this guy had.

02:05:08

I liked it though. I was thinking about it more, a 3rd and a 5th round pick.

02:05:15

That—

02:05:16

did Ed Dodds just get fleeced?

02:05:17

No, Ed Dodds did the fleecing. Quentin Nelson was going to walk. Ed Dodd— no, no, no. Ed Dodd fleeces you.

02:05:25

You can't get a better deal for Quentin. Quentin Nelson's an awesome player.

02:05:28

Yeah, but he's old and on his last year of his contract. And they, I don't think they're ready. Like they're in a transition, right? When are the Colts going to be good again? Ed Dodd fleeced.

02:05:38

Oh, because my world is shaken right now. If Ed Dodd's— if somebody got the better of Ed Dodd's—

02:05:45

No, no, I'm gonna, you know, I'm gonna tweet it right now just to back him up and say Ed Dodd masterclass getting not one but 2 draft picks. That way you make it a little bit— we say draft picks, not the rounds.

02:05:56

He went for a 5th and then they threw in a 3rd.

02:05:58

Yeah, 2 draft picks. For Quentin Nelson. You don't even have to say what—

02:06:03

I saw the Seahawks started getting a compensatory 3rd rounder.

02:06:06

So basically—

02:06:06

That's just what smart teams do. Yeah, they just fucking do that. And it pisses me off. All right, Hank, pardon your take.

02:06:14

These are like NFL hot takes people sent in. But oh, my hot take is that there hasn't been a consistent great new head coach in the last 5 years.

02:06:23

What?

02:06:24

Only one you could point to is the Vikings head coach, but they will never win a Super Bowl. So does it even count? All the best ones, your tried and trues like Shanahan, McVay, Reid.

02:06:34

So would Ben Johnson and Liam Cohn did last year just mean zero?

02:06:41

What about the Seahawks?

02:06:42

See, great point. Mike McDonald, great point. I feel like it's the other way. I think it's actually been like a hot streak of head coaches recently.

02:06:55

And when did he— he's on the outside. Dan Campbell was what, 6 years ago?

02:07:00

Wait, wait. How many years did he go back?

02:07:02

5.

02:07:02

Nick Sirianni. When did he get hired? Is this his 5th year? This is his 6th year. It might be his 6th. But yeah, I— okay. Bad take.

02:07:13

What?

02:07:14

Who's that guy? Is that guy only watch— did he just watch Jets and Dolphins? Like Sunday? Is that the only game he watched? What does he—

02:07:24

It's a bad take.

02:07:27

That was a high-scoring game.

02:07:28

Yeah, that's true.

02:07:29

The reality is most coaches in the NFL are retreads. Like, that's just how the league always works. And we don't, we don't know, like 2 years from now, if the LaFleur guys work out.

02:07:39

Yeah, the, the, the reality is that it goes for quarterbacks too. Quarterbacks and coaches, like half of them are going to just suck. And then there's like another 25% we'll debate and then there's 25% that are going to be good.

02:07:52

Yeah.

02:07:54

This one sounds like Shane wrote it. I think there's a legit chance the Chargers do not win a game this year. Obviously everyone knows they're terrible, but there are only 2 weeks I could see on their schedule that are possible wins. I still don't think they will.

02:08:05

They'll pop up.

02:08:05

Jets week 11, Dolphins week 16. Other games are Rams, Texans, Ravens, Patriots, Bucs, Raiders, Niners, Chiefs, Broncos.

02:08:14

That, that guy's doing a lot of work throwing— they're throwing around some names into the good team pile that maybe shouldn't be in the good team pile. Right now, the Rams are not a good team. Right now, the Texans are not a good team.

02:08:26

Bucs. Raiders.

02:08:29

Raiders right now are not a good team.

02:08:31

Who's more likely to make the playoffs, Texans or Rams?

02:08:34

Rams.

02:08:35

Okay.

02:08:37

I probably agree with you.

02:08:39

Yeah.

02:08:40

You said their schedules like get super easy right now.

02:08:42

Rams.

02:08:43

Yeah, they do.

02:08:43

They have a— they should, they should rip off some wins. I, I think the Chargers will win a game. I think the Chargers will win one game. It's really—

02:08:56

Chargers will win 4 games.

02:08:57

It's really hard to not win a single game.

02:08:59

No shot they win 4.

02:09:00

They don't win 4 games.

02:09:01

But let's see what Vegas says.

02:09:02

I will say, oh, they'll win 4 games. Just, just going to throw this out there. Uh, it's NFL. We made a group bet. We've talked about it before. It is gonna go down as one of the worst bets of all time. One of the worst bets of all time. We made a group bet, the whole PMT. We all put our teams in, uh, betting overs. Let me just read it real quick to you. Bears over 7.5 wins. Looks that, that's doing well. They have 5 wins right now. Chargers over 8.5 wins. We're like 2 weeks away from that being actually impossible. Bucs over 6.5 wins, they have 2. Commanders over 6.5 wins, they have 1. Patriots over 8.5 wins, they have 4. Eagles over 8.5 wins, they have 2. Jets over 4.5, that is one of the worst bets of all time. We're gonna lose that by like 3 teams.

02:09:54

It's really bad. It's very bad.

02:09:56

What?

02:09:57

The Jets are one of the best ones.

02:09:58

Yeah, but Jets are, Jets are trending the best. The Jets?

02:10:02

No, the Jets and Bears.

02:10:04

Yeah. But I mean, the Jets are 3 wins away. The Bears are 3 wins away.

02:10:08

Win totals right now. Vegas has Chargers over 3.5 on DraftKings.

02:10:13

Oh, that's— I'd hit that under.

02:10:15

But it's— wait, under 3.5 is actually plus money. Over 3.5 is minus $200. Under 3.5 is plus $160.

02:10:23

It is really hard though to lose every single game. Like they're going to win a game.

02:10:28

I'm just really worried about, yeah, Denver week 18. I'm just worried they're going to sit all their starters and we get some squeaky win at the end that takes us out of the first pick.

02:10:38

Yeah.

02:10:39

That would really fucking suck. Yeah. What was it the one year? It was the Davis Mills.

02:10:43

Yeah.

02:10:45

That's, that would really set into motion Caleb. All right. Next one.

02:10:53

My theory is the NFL front-loaded the Steelers schedule with easier games to ensure they wouldn't bench Rodgers midseason for younger QBs. 9-8 plus first-round exit is still inevitable.

02:11:02

So the theory— I don't totally disagree, but the theory is really when you're talking about the NFC North and the AFC North, every team being above .500, it's like the we're not the same. meme because if you look into the AFC North, they've gotten really fat off of the NFC South. Every team in the AFC North has just beaten the Bucs. They all beat the Bucs.

02:11:29

I think that there's—

02:11:30

The Saints, like—

02:11:31

I think the Steelers, the Browns, I don't expect them to stick around as like a real team. I think they'll probably be around .500 at the end of the season. The Bengals, I do think, I think the Bengals are legit.

02:11:44

Yeah, no, the Bengals are really good, but the Steelers, have beaten the Cooper Rush Falcons, the Jalen Daniels Bucs, and the Saints. 3 of their wins are NFC South. Yeah, it's just basically the AFC North is significantly better than the NFC South, and that's what we're finding out. Okay, next.

02:12:04

Last one. If Deshaun Watson takes the Browns to the playoffs, is it only right that we forgive him for his past? Hopeful Browns fan.

02:12:10

It's a good point. It's a fair point. How many, how many games do you think he'd have to win to get an extension?

02:12:17

Super Bowl. Oh, extension.

02:12:20

Oh, do you mean to be forgiven?

02:12:21

Yeah.

02:12:22

To get a pass?

02:12:23

Super Bowl.

02:12:23

He would, he would definitely be forgiven in Cleveland. Yeah. I think that's not, that's not negotiable.

02:12:28

Like for—

02:12:28

he might already be forgiven in Cleveland.

02:12:31

To get an extension, I feel like if he wins 2 playoff games, you, they, they would definitely give him an extension. him one, right?

02:12:38

Yeah. Yeah. 2 playoff— if he goes to the AFC Championship Game, 100%.

02:12:42

If he wins 2 playoff games, they would. If he wins one, but it's an ugly game, like 120 yards, 1 touchdown, 1 interception, they might just give him one anyway. Because the option is like, if, if Deshaun Watson, if he hits the open market, what is the market going to look like for Deshaun Watson?

02:13:01

Yeah.

02:13:04

It is. It's— I think Todd Monken's a really good coach. Like, I think he's done a really good job. The problem is he doesn't own the team. And you got to just think about the fact that like, the Haslams might just be like, hey, we finally had a little success. What do we have to do? Let's just lock up Deshaun.

02:13:18

Yeah, you know, whatever choice they make, it's probably— it's probably gonna be the wrong one.

02:13:22

Yeah, I would—

02:13:25

who's—

02:13:25

what's their, uh, what's their draft picks that the Browns have? Do they have anyone else's draft pick?

02:13:30

They have the Jaguars.

02:13:32

They have the Jaguars. That's not that great.

02:13:34

Yeah. Travis Hunter.

02:13:36

Oh, no, they have the Rams too.

02:13:41

Or was it the Jaguars last year?

02:13:42

They have the Rams from Myles Garrett, right? Yes. Okay. I might have been smoked.

02:13:48

I can't get out of the Jaguars last year. Somebody help.

02:13:52

I don't know. I'm trying to pull up Tankathon, but my brain's broken.

02:13:55

There's—

02:13:55

keep the ads just keep popping up, so I don't know what to do. What do you want me to do?

02:13:59

If only somebody else had a computer.

02:14:03

I'm pulling it up right now.

02:14:04

I'm still working on this bracket. I'm working on this bracket you told me to work on.

02:14:08

The Rams, and they have the Rams pick and their pick. That's it. What's this bracket? Give it to us real quick.

02:14:15

It's not quick.

02:14:16

Okay. I don't want— this is, this is confusing, Max.

02:14:23

Why?

02:14:23

What's going on?

02:14:24

Why there's all these colors on here.

02:14:26

That's— those are the different sides of the bracket. So it's the Big Ten. This is from @DetroitWilliam.

02:14:34

It's okay.

02:14:35

It's a 4-team playoff between the Big Ten and the SEC, and the winner of that gets to go to the Final Four. Then there's a lot of other stuff at the bottom of this bracket.

02:14:44

No, it's, it's all 4. It's the 4 major conferences. I like this. I see what it's doing. It's basically saying The Big Ten and SEC are automatically in the round of 16. The, the smaller conferences have to start earlier and play play-ins. Like, the MAC has to play into the ACC bracket, the Mountain West has to play into the ACC bracket, Conference USA and Sun Belt have to play in the ACC bracket. So you're essentially having the division winners, and the SEC and the Big Ten both have 4 teams in no matter what.

02:15:19

And it keeps conference championships relevant.

02:15:21

And it always— and it always— you'll always have a Final Four of one of the teams from each conference in the Final Four.

02:15:27

So it'd be impossible to have 2 SEC teams.

02:15:30

Correct. I actually like this. This would be cool.

02:15:33

That's what— yeah, that's what I was thinking. The, the one thing that it kind of fucks is Notre Dame, but it also isn't the worst for it. Like, Notre Dame, you have to start in the first round. then play the Mountain West, and then you play the winner of the Mackey. So you're still like guaranteeing if you get that first wildcard spot, you just have to beat the ACC champion.

02:15:52

I know. And this is basically like eventually it's going to just be the NFL where instead of the top 4 best Big Ten teams, we just split the Big Ten back up into geographical. And it's like you have divisions.

02:16:06

So what they—

02:16:07

so it's like you have a Big Ten West, which is Washington, Oregon, you know, they just play the Pac-12 out there.

02:16:13

They've also made, like in basketball, conference championship tournaments.

02:16:17

Yeah.

02:16:17

Yeah.

02:16:18

Also, you can— the Big Ten and the SEC can get multiple teams into the Final Four if they make it out, if they win out from the wild card stage.

02:16:26

Oh, there's wild cards.

02:16:27

There's 3 wild cards.

02:16:28

Got it. So they play in the Big 12 and the ACC.

02:16:33

Got it.

02:16:33

Yeah.

02:16:34

Right.

02:16:35

Yeah, I don't hate this.

02:16:37

It would be fun.

02:16:38

That would be fun. Okay, good show, boys.

02:16:44

Numbers.

02:16:45

4, 3, 23, 11. 69.

02:17:05

69 for Colton.

02:17:06

Nice.

02:17:06

9.

02:17:07

Nice. Hey, Colton, nice. Colton Bidwell out.

02:17:11

Said you're doing a great job, Colton. Thank you, Big Cat.

02:17:15

Yeah, fuck that guy.

02:17:16

Fuck that guy.

02:17:21

Although I kind of want to start locking— I kind of want to put, putting a lock on the Body Armor fridge. Just makes a little extra money.

02:17:30

How much, how much money was he losing to Gatorade? It's a workplace theft.

02:17:38

86, anyone?

02:17:41

86. 37.

02:18:12

37.

02:18:12

37. Yes, Shane, man!

02:18:15

Come on, let's go!

02:18:18

Oh, man.

02:18:19

Bolts up.

02:18:19

How many times you've gotten this?

02:18:21

Oh, I don't know. I think this 5th or 6th time. Whoa.

02:18:24

On this machine?

02:18:25

No, it's probably a 4th time on this machine.

02:18:27

Oh my God. Memes, you've never gotten this on this machine? Uh, I have one. No, I haven't. You haven't?

02:18:36

Yeah.

02:18:37

No, you haven't.

02:18:38

I don't want to say this to throw shade, but I've been guessing 4 for the last few weeks and Memes took 4 before me.

02:18:44

Oh.

02:18:47

Good luck, Chuck.

02:18:48

Thanks, memes. So you basically won it for Shane. So it's another one that you could say that you got it, but you didn't.

02:18:55

Cool.

02:18:55

You lead the league in getting it, but not— Yeah, I'm like the Chargers.

02:18:59

Yes, sir.

02:19:00

Well, no, they couldn't even—

02:19:02

yeah, no, they don't win either. Yeah, no, but they're going to— you forget, they're going to— they're going to get Jeremiah Smith.

02:19:07

Oh, so—

02:19:08

oh yeah, the wide receiver will fix everything. Yeah.

02:19:10

So you admit that you've never won it.

02:19:12

No, I have.

02:19:12

No, you just said you're like the Chargers. You know, the Chargers haven't won it.

02:19:16

Okay.

02:19:17

This is Shane's 3rd on this machine. 8th overall, which is Shane tied with PFT.

02:19:22

Beast, dude.

02:19:24

After Beast, it was much fewer guesses.

02:19:28

Who's got—

02:19:28

what's Pug at?

02:19:30

Hank and I have 9 wins.

02:19:31

Dynasty Pug.

02:19:32

Hank, you have 9 wins?

02:19:33

Duh.

02:19:35

Wait, do they?

02:19:36

This is 9.

02:19:39

I run this machine.

02:19:40

Yeah.

02:19:40

What did Pug have?

02:19:42

It's not— Pug's not on here anymore.

02:19:43

I think Pug had like 20.

02:19:44

So either way, the end of the story, memes didn't get it and Shane did.

02:19:49

Happy birthday to Stetson Bennett. Happy birthday to Julia Roberts. Happy birthday to Jackrabbit Jenkins. Happy birthday, Andy Dalton. Happy birthday to Tank Dell. Happy birthday to Ari Dickey. Happy birthday to Bob Ross and happy birthday to Randy Jackson. Love you guys.

02:20:27

Love you guys.
