Today is Wednesday, October 14th, and boys, we got some baseball. We got some playoff baseball. I don't know which one we want to start with. Actually, let's start with the game we just watched. The Guardians and the Rays are tied 1-1 Monday night. The Guardians in an all-time— I expected nothing out of them, and then they somehow woke up and delivered. Like, never have I been more sure Watching a game, PFT, where the Rays jumped on them 2-0 in the top of the first. The Guardians just finished a 5-game series like 36 hours ago, hungover, whatever you want to call it. And then the Guardians just were like, you know what, let's just, let's just keep riding this, this wave. They got shut out through 5 innings, but then scored in the 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th and took game 1. Rays take game 2. We're going back to Cleveland 1-1.
Tilted the series 1-1. That's all the Guardians wanted to do, take it back to the C. Yeah. Um, what's going on with Tropicana Field? What's going on with, um, empty seats in the ALCS?
I, I don't even care about the empty seats. I'm, I'm sorry, Trop. Well, actually, you know what, I'm not sorry because I think Rays fans know exactly. They completely agree with this.
And when I say like there's seats, I'm not saying I'm not Saying like all the fans there suck. The fans that are diehard fans of the Devil Rays are the Rays. They were wearing Devil Rays tonight.
Which were awesome.
Yeah, they were great. Great throwbacks. Awesome fans. The fans there that care, they are incredible fans. The problem is there's just not enough of you guys.
Not enough. And let's just be honest. There's no aura or like mystique when you're watching an ALCS game in Tropicana Field and every fucking time there's a fly ball, The announcer's like, nope, didn't hit the rings. Oh, that might've hit the rings. Even in the 9th, there was the ball that the right fielder just stood there and kind of let it like fly. Like, oh, did it hit the rings? Why the— like, what are we playing, Star Fox? What the fuck is this?
Yeah.
Do they have a— do they have an umpire in the postseason that's up in the catwalk, like closer to the ceiling to see? There actually should be a guy up there wearing like a full-on MLB umpire uniform that's as close to the roof as possible to see if the ball hits it. Yeah, there's no aura in that stadium whatsoever. But you know who does have aura? It's Fastball Freddie.
Yeah, Freddie Peralta was really good tonight. Uh, Jose Ramirez error, which I— that was— it was an error, but it also was the Trop like having weird bounces because it's fake turf. What are you looking at? What are you thinking, Max? They did call it an error.
Yeah, that was for sure an error. He's got it.
I know, I know. I'm saying, I'm saying it was an error. It was definitely an error. But I'm saying the bounce that happened because the Trop has weird fake turf. And baseball shouldn't be played on fake turf is— was part of it. He's good.
He had to go—
he had to—
he had to attack 100 times out of 100.
He had to go after it. Yeah, he had to— he had to charge it. He did. He let it like come to him and it ate him up.
Yeah, you can't let that ball eat you up. You can't.
But I'm not—
I'm not— I'm not giving him a trot pass on that.
Oh, I'm going against the trot.
That's a routine ball.
I'm going against the trot.
They got— they got to move out of Tampa. They got to move out of Tampa.
Not everyone's going to get a real stadium. No, they got to move.
They got—
I don't care if they had a slightly nicer stadium, then people in Tampa would go to the games.
It's just hard to get to. It's impossible to get to the Drop.
Yeah, exactly.
Tell you what, educate us.
Basically, why doesn't anybody go there?
It is the ALCS. Everyone says winning cures all. You're the best team in baseball.
How do you have that picture?
Not true. Wrong.
The Brewers are, but yeah.
Okay, fine. You're the best team in the AL. Fucking semantics. It's a joke. It's a fucking joke how many empty seats there are on a night game. You have no excuse not to get there. I don't care how hard it is or what the fucking traffic is. There's always traffic. There's always traffic getting, getting to fucking stadiums.
You're right.
Get your ass to the stadium. It's playoff baseball. You're trying to go to the World Series. Move out of Tampa.
Zach, Zach, Zach, why, why is it so hard to get there?
Traffic. Try to cross that bridge, Max. You never been—
you've never been over the bridge.
It's— you get car locked. You want to listen to the game on the radio in your car? That's what you get. That's what you end up doing.
Impossible.
You give a fuck about the Rays?
No, but if we're coming to the stadium, you're the perfect example.
You live in Tampa, you couldn't name 3 players on the team. No one in Tampa cares about the Rays.
Move out of Tampa.
35 to 40 minutes east, but still Did you see the renderings for the new ballpark though?
Yes.
The 360 glass?
Pretty sick.
Come on.
They should put a fucked up ceiling in the new stadium too.
I'm sure the final payoff is huge to not show up to that either. And it's crazy because the Rays are really, really good and their front office is awesome. I will say that like this first 2 games, this was a win for Cleveland to get one of these and to have Gavin Williams ready to go. Like that's a huge win for Cleveland. And they, again, I was like Monday night was, It was shocking to me. I had like, I think Guardians fans probably were like, well, probably scheduled loss. Like we're going against their ace. They're rested. We're coming off a 5-game series. And I thought the Rays did some weird shit with their bullpen. I think they had a guy pitch who was like, who hadn't pitched since like April or something. It was very bizarre. They never, they were, they were in a tied game in the late innings. Their closer never got in like the high leverage situations. I don't know. So. win for the Guardians to be 1-1 going back to Cleveland.
I, if I, if it were me and I, I won game 1 on the road like that, I would for sure blow it in game 2. I would not care. It would be such a big letdown spot for me personally.
But, um, but they still even had a moment. They had a moment. They still had a moment. They still had a moment. They still had a moment.
Chase DeLauder hit that double. Chase DeLauder is awesome. Love watching him play. Um, regardless of the fact that he went to Jamie, he's an awesome player. And he always seems to be the guy that like, if there's no spark, if the Guardians are having an off night, He's the guy that kind of stirs the drink that gets him going, and then people kind of feed off that. But yeah, they're going back to Cleveland and they are— I don't think Marlins Man is going to be in attendance, right? He doesn't go to the Cleveland games.
No.
Yeah, because not because the Guardians fans are mean to him, but it has nothing to do— I think it's Guardians fans are mean to him. It has nothing to do with the fact that the seats behind home plate are raised so you can't see anyone.
Right.
I don't think he knows if he's on camera or not.
Right.
Right. So that thought never crossed his mind. It was mostly about the fact that like one guy said something mean to him.
They were mean to him.
Yes. In 2016.
Yeah.
And then the other series, the Brewers. I mean, listen, I'm not rooting for them, but they are so good at baseball and it's crazy. I, I know people thought I was trying to jinx it like 2 weeks ago when I was like, just get used to it. The Brewers are going to win the World Series. But that game, Yamamoto is the guy. He is the guy that you throw who like is just a fucking stud when it comes to playoff baseball. I think the only other team that, that has ever like touched him up like that or chased him like that was the Phillies last year. In that 5-game series, he pitched 4 innings in that game. Yamamoto is the guy you like, hey, it's okay, we're fine. The Brewers approach at the plate, that, that Jake Bauer at-bat was just insane where he just grinded him and grinded him and grinded him down. It was like, I don't even know how long that at-bat was. It felt like it went for like—
10 minutes.
5 minutes. It was, and then they chase them, get the entire Dodgers bullpen. They just get big hit after big hit. They're so good at like situational hitting, situational running, hitting it to opposite field. They're just such a good baseball team. I don't know what else to say. And I also will say this. It felt, it feels like the Dodgers are going through like usual business of like, all right, we're going in the playoffs. We're just going to win the World Series again. The Brewers have had this exact matchup circled for an entire year after getting embarrassed last year in the NLCS. It was like, this is what it's all being built for. It's to beat the Dodgers. It's to take it to them. And you can see the difference in, in the first 2 games, like with, with how the Brewers are ready for this.
And then Hank woke up a sleeping giant in Christian Yelich because all the guy does now is, is hit RBIs. Guys, the RBI machine.
Yeah.
I mean, this is, I have a lot of faith in the Brewers. The Brewers are no fluke. The Brewers have been building. No, of course not.
I mean, well, they've won the most games in baseball in the last 5 years.
Yes. They've been building for the last 5 years.
I think it's, I think it's something, it's, it's a crazy stat. Like in terms of regular season baseball, they've just ripped those last 5.
I knew that they were definitely the best team in baseball this year and going back to the second half of last year. But 5 years is crazy, but the Brewers, they're—
It might not be 5, but it's a lot.
They are, they are just very, very good at every single small detail involved in, like, you can watch from the prep that they put into every at-bat. They are like laser focused because you're right. They got, they got embarrassed by the Dodgers last year.
They have the most wins the last 3 years. Last 3 years of baseball, they have the most wins. So it's not, yeah, it's not a fluke. They've been good every year. And if you go 5, 4 years, they're just like 5 games behind the Dodgers. So they've just been good.
And yeah, going up against Yamamoto on the road for Yamamoto should be a special— what do you last, 2 innings, 2 and 2/3? Yeah. Yeah. Brewers, great story. And now they have to go back and because it's game 3 now, they got Blake. Do they have Blake Snell?
I think it's Blake Snell.
Yeah.
So they have Blake Snell as their reward. But I feel like Brewers kind of got them where they want them psychologically. 2 in a row, starting the series off. They're just where it's going. And the Dodgers are panicking now. They're, they're pulling every lever that they can because they know something's wrong. So this is great. I know maybe if you're a Cubs fan, you don't love the Brewers playing this good and looking this dangerous. I think everybody else loves the Brewers doing this.
Yeah.
I mean, I've come to peace with it. It is what it is. They've been so good all year. I mean, they're just, they're, they're just exactly what you want out of a playoff baseball team where money moments, they're just, they always get the big hit. They always get the big strikeout. Like, their, their bullpen is fucking nails. Uh, it's just, yeah, it's— and they're analytically, like, perfect. They just do things correct, the correct way. I can't stand Pat Murphy, but he's obviously an incredible manager. Like, it just is what it is. And I, I don't know. I think the Dodgers will obviously, like, I don't think it's gonna be a sweep, but to lose to Skubal when Yamamoto starts is... Crazy.
I think, I think it still might go 7, but it's a great start for the Brewers. Glasnow, I don't think has ever lost a postseason start with the Dodgers.
Oh, look at that.
I think he's perfect. If I recall correctly, his ERA is like sub-2. And he's been a very, very good postseason pitcher for the Dodgers. So I fully expect the Dodgers to win game 3 regardless of if they have Shohei playing or not. It sounds like he is going to play.
Yeah, he's been so, so bad. He hasn't hit a home run since August 18th. And he's definitely injured, but still, he's been really, really bad. And now they're talking about maybe taking him out of the lineup.
But they're— I think I read earlier today they're going to keep him in. I think you have to play him. You got to play. If you have fucking Shohei Ohtani, you have to put him out there in the playoffs.
Yeah, I'd agree. Yeah, I mean, but he has been that bad.
Like, terrible.
If he wasn't named Shohei Ohtani, he would, there'd be no question the way he's hitting and the way he like looks lost at the plate.
He does. And I think he had a, he got off to a slow start in the playoffs last year, if I remember correctly. He obviously more than corrected for that when he ended up the championship series with the best baseball game ever played. But it's been like months that he's been bad. So.
It's a very good— Tyler Glasnow, I looked it up.
Possibly set him, yep.
Tyler Glasnow, the Dodgers, he has never recorded a win for the Dodgers in the playoffs. The Dodgers have never lost a game where he's pitched.
Yep.
That's pretty insane. Yeah. So he, if you look at, I mean, he was, he was a mix of starting and relieving last year and they won all of those games. And then this year he started the game against the Braves, but only went 4 and 2/3, but they won that game. So yeah. He's, I mean, that's the thing with the Dodgers. They just have, they're just like, oh, okay. Well, we lost the first 2 games. We have other Cy Young guys who are going to pitch now.
So, yep. It does feel like a possible crash course of Brewers-Rays.
Yeah.
I'm not, I'm not counting out the Guardians. I was wrong about the Guardians after the first 2 games against the White Sox. I was very wrong. Hand up. They have a little bit of that mojo of like they get the big hits and Jose Ramirez. I know tonight was a bad game for him, but like they have big guy. moments. And like, yeah, I'm not counting them out, especially with if Gavin Williams can pitch 2 more times in this series. Like, that's pretty big.
So I've talked a lot of shit about Cleveland and deservedly so, Big Cat. But I feel like I, and so I get a lot of heat daily from, from their fans. And I've seen you catch some ricochets in the past few days with those.
What, with yours?
Yeah. Just being like, fuck you, Cleveland. Like Cleveland's going to fucking kill you. And then like also like Big Cat, you too. Oh yeah.
I mean, the only thing I said was I wasn't scared of their lineup through the first 2 games against the White Sox and I wasn't. And then they woke up like Jose Ramirez had a bad second half and then he decided to be the clutchest guy in the world and hit big, big hit after big hit. I was wrong about that. I did not think that he would all of a sudden just become Jose Ramirez again, which he did. So yeah, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not ruling out the Guardians to win this series against the Rays. I think they're very, very live in this, especially after splitting the first 2. Um, and they, you know, chip in a chair, just get into the, get into the World Series. Anything can happen, right? Maybe, maybe the, maybe the Brewers, like what you said is true.
Like, right. Like they, they, this is their championship. It's like the Spurs.
Right. Right. They've been building up for this moment. They might be ripe as someone in the AL to pick them off. Um, okay. So we recorded a bunch of the show earlier today back in studio. 2 things that happened since then. Uh, we're going to talk about Monday Night Football. Mevis got cut.
Yep, yep, too bad.
Nevis got cut and then they brought in Blake Groopy. It was basically they, they switched, uh, uh, what's Timon for Pumbaa? Who's the fat one? Uh, Pumbaa. Pumbaa is the fat one, so they switched Pumbaa for Timon. Blake Groopy's like a buck 25.
They're the exact opposite guy. Yeah, Blake Groopy is what, like, when you close your eyes and you think of a kicker You picture a guy like Blake Groupie, he's made out of entirely elbows. And then, yeah, I'm going to miss— I'm going to miss seeing Meevis out there. I want to see him. I want to bring him back. Somebody for the good of the league, somebody should sign Meevis.
I also—
what's going wrong? What's wrong, Max?
He's laughing. Elbows everywhere.
Made out of elbows is very funny.
It is.
Look at him. Look at Blake Groupie. He's a walking elbow.
I was looking at a picture of him as you were saying it. And he does.
He looks like he's made out of elbows.
Yeah, he is. And then Meevis is made out of elbow macaroni.
The, uh, the, the kickers, you know how we have like, uh, alt casts for everything now? Like last night I got caught in an NFL Network alt cast I didn't even know existed for Monday Night Football. Did you guys see that?
No.
There was just NFL Network had one Manning cast. How about an alt cast when a kicker misses a kick where they just have to sit in like, I don't even know, it won't be the blue tent, whatever, any color tent. The kicker just sits in there with a GoPro and you just get to watch them and like they have to read the comments. That would be awesome. Imagine if the kid— if you get— Mevis misses a kick and he just sits down and it's just the chat is just like fucking roasting him and he has to just read every single one.
He has to interact.
That would be the highest watched altcast after a big missed kick.
What the fuck is, uh, is Pasquale in Staten Island saying about me?
Why do they keep saying that the chat's in Spanish?
Yeah, that'd be, that'd be really fucked up mentally to do to a kicker. That'd be really—
they should have to do it.
A really mean thing too. By the way, I don't know if you guys caught this, but towards the end of the the Commanders-Giants game when, when the Giants kicker missed that kick. I feel like Scatterboo, I remember Scatterboo getting up in his face and like screaming at him. I don't know if he was doing the Scatterboo thing where he was like trying to motivate him, but it looked like he wanted to fuck him up. Like, good, like violence. And then you had Scatterboo go back and then he fumbled on that drive. Probably felt like an asshole after that. But yeah, I mean, I wouldn't, I wouldn't mind seeing kickers have to read the comments.
I do.
Yeah.
I also think we should have that camera that, that follows guys around until, like, I want a close-up on their face as they find out that there was a flag on the play that they thought they just scored a touchdown on.
That'd work too. I like that. The, and then the other one was Montez Sweat got popped for PEDs, which I, I made the joke on Twitter, but it's got to be the easiest appeal ever because there's been no performance enhanced. Like, you just have to show his stat sheet and be like, what are you talking about? I don't, I don't get how, I don't know. I don't get how you could get popped for them when he hasn't been playing well.
Imagine, imagine how bad it would have been without the drugs.
I guess, I guess credit to him for like trying everything. Like shout out him for being a team guy, being like, I gotta, I gotta get, I gotta get the best I can get. But that's a problem for the Bears.
It's like if you, if you get popped for PEDs, at least you're trying.
Yeah. That's what I'm saying.
Yeah.
You care.
Right.
So yeah, end of the day, maybe not the worst thing. Also, like, if you, if you take steroids, how long does it take for the steroids to completely wear off? Like to, to lose all the good side effects from them?
I don't know.
I'm assuming he's been using them for a while. Working out.
I don't know.
Probably got really strong. Is he going to get weak in the next 2 weeks?
But isn't it 2, 2 games is light, right? Like if it was just straight up steroids, I thought it was more than that.
Maybe Adderall.
I'm not exactly sure.
Yeah, I mean, there's a lot of different— could have been Viagra.
Yeah, yeah. Either way, uh, I feel like they should appeal.
Absolutely.
Just like be like, oh, here's the All-22.
Also, there's no Montez Sweat. Underrated, very cool, intimidating name.
Oh yeah. And I need— I mean, the Bears need him, so I, I hope he comes back and he's like proves that, hey, it wasn't the PEDs. I'm— I still can be good. But, uh, Yeah. And then there's weird like contract stuff too with it where I think his guaranteed money goes away. And now, I don't know. We'll, we'll see. Uh, was there anything else that happened that we missed? I don't think so.
Just looking through the news right now.
Because we did record earlier. So, um, Hank, have you done your callouts?
You did.
Okay. So who you call out?
It's shocking.
Just tell us real quick.
I called out Donnie, PFT commentator Jersey Jerry, Mike Grinnell.
And that's all for straight up, no handicap?
No handicap, straight up.
Okay, straight up. Why don't you call out me and Max? Me and Max in a scramble?
I don't know, because we— I like to have fun with you guys.
Okay, well, all right, so you're scared of us scrambling?
Yeah.
All right, all right, fine, pussy. Max, we just won.
That's a great duo right there.
That's a win for us. All right, what do you mean by that?
One win for us.
Yeah, you like, you like to have fun with me, Jersey Jerry, Grinnelli?
No, I, I come, I show up to those matches strictly to win.
It's business.
Yeah.
What's very funny is that like I was just sitting, I was minding my own business, just sitting down, and then I got called out. And that's never happened to me before. And it's like, it's not a good feeling to get called out.
Do you know what you should do, PFT?
I, well, I sent my lawyer to respond.
Well, I was gonna say you should call him out, Righty.
I don't want to do that.
Okay.
I'm not a call-out guy.
I would kill you, Righty.
Oh, I don't— this, this like, oh no.
I brought out the Righty clubs the other day and it was so much better. Hank's right.
One more. We got one more month of Lefty Lockwood.
Hank's right. We've played, we've played on camera a bunch of times when he's been right-handed and you've always beaten me right-handed on camera, haven't you?
No, that's true. Uh, I want to, the real, I wanna beat Max. I mean, I'm gonna beat PFT, Jerry, and Donnie just so that I can say when I switch back righty that when they chirp me, I can be like, well, I beat you lefty and righty.
Oh, okay. But you haven't beat me either lefty or righty on tour.
I know, but the, but I'll beat you lefty and then we'll have plenty of time to beat you righty. I mean, we can do it in the same day if you want.
Wow.
36, 36 holes.
No, 9 holes. 9 and 9.
9 hole call out. It's a 9 hole card.
It's a 9 hole big card.
It's a little baby boy call out.
Yeah, I mean, listen, Phil, it's not— it's a lot to ask.
You can beat me 18 holes, righty and lefty. Are you gonna have your own cart and you're gonna have 2 sets of clubs in your cart?
Yeah, or I could just do 14 clubs total, but that would be harder. Or I can just switch after 9.
I don't, I don't know. I didn't know how to take it getting called out by a guy that has literally never beaten me.
I—
it's like, all right, come get your spanking. I didn't know if this was like a sex ritual thing where you have a kink. Of like getting humiliated.
You got a king, Hank?
Fast forward 2 months. It's just gonna be like—
everyone like talks about the grudge. Like, PFT has been horrible. Like, we've been playing and, and, and the grudge match got all the, all the blame and, and, and bad put on me.
But like, we use more of my shots.
I don't know if that's true.
Oh yes, way more.
We used a lot of Grudens and a lot of my drives.
We did use a lot of Grudens, but just fast forward like a month from now. It's, uh, it's Friday. All right, Hank, what's your Firefest? Um, so there's like some videos now that are coming.
We—
the clips, the clip culture, some stuff out of context, and I lost to PFT again. How many times are we gonna do this?
I'm excited.
This is making me very excited.
That was a great question, Big Cat. That was a great question.
Yeah, great question.
I was, uh, I was not expecting this, this feud to pop up out of nowhere.
I got called out.
It's just facts.
You ever been called out, Max? It's hard not to take it personally.
Yeah.
That's a serious business. Well, no, we, we almost got called out, but Hank's too much of a pussy to call us out.
Yeah. Consider yourselves lucky.
Yeah.
Oh, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Couldn't call it out like that.
All right.

and King's Hawaiian in signing the petition, and you could score King's Hawaiian for life. Okay boys, Monday Night Football. It was really awesome to have a game be hyped up and then deliver on the hype, and that's what I felt like. The first half was slow, but the second half, I think it was— it was 6— the final 6 possessions of the game were touchdown drives. Josh Allen versus Matthew Stafford duel. Josh Allen with his feet, Matthew Stafford throwing to Puka Nacua. And we're going to talk about both teams. But as, as has happened in the past, Sean McVay's inability to have a good special teams where he just says, hey, you know what, let's, let's build an awesome offense. Defense wasn't awesome last night. And we'll just forget about special teams and we'll just be so good in the other phases, it won't matter. Hit him again because Mevis, I know, got blocked. That kick was not going in. And Sean McVay, I don't understand why he turtled at the end of the game being like, hey, let's, uh, we're in field goal range. Let's just, let's just run the ball into the middle.
Let's, let's be conservative after we shredded the Bills the entire second half and hope that fat Mevis can make a kick.
Mevis, uh, well, it was 3rd and 5, right? It was 3rd and 5 and McVay said, I'll run the ball up the middle.
But 3rd and 5, they, they got the first down and then they kind of pumped the brakes on the offense.
They ran the ball up the middle and took the ball out of Stafford's hand.
Yeah.
Which is not what you want to do in overtime. I mean, listen, this is a game it delivered when we thought the Bills and the Rams, we thought this is going to be like 2 really, really good teams. It did feel like a football game. So like the criticism of McVay, I think it's, it's legit, but it's also, it's 2 really good teams. So, so it was going to come down to small small mistakes in decision-making.
But the small mistakes always are the special teams for the Rams, and they always— they have the worst special teams again through 5 weeks. They could have had another Super Bowl ring last year if it weren't for their special teams. Remember the muffed kick against the Seahawks, the NFC Championship Game? Like, they just don't have good special teams, and it's every single year. It's crazy.
The, uh, the kickoff return especially was bad last night.
Yeah.
I, I do think this is more like how much more leeway do the Rams have before they dig themselves in a hole that they can't get out of.
They're fine. If you're gonna look for a bet right now, take the Rams over 10.5 wins. They are fine.
So they sit at 2-3.
Have you seen their schedule?
I was looking at the schedule earlier today.
They are—
it softens up nicely for them.
They're going to be— I'll say they'll be 7-3 or 6-4 at worst, 7-3 most likely. Going into the Packers game on Thanksgiving.
Okay. So looking ahead, they got the Cardinals, they got the Raiders, they got the Chargers, they got the Commanders, they got the Cardinals again.
So those 5 games, they're going to go 4-1 in those games. I feel pretty confident.
They probably will go 4-1. If they don't, then it's a real problem. I think it's probably already to the point where they've, they've fucked up home field advantage for themselves.
They still get to play Seahawks twice. Yep. So you win those games and anything can happen. But yeah, I would not be worried about the Rams other than the special teams. Like, I don't think this team is still good. The offense is still good. The defense needs Myles Garrett. The special teams is just atrocious. And every single year they do this and every single year costs them in a high leverage game. And it's just, it's the same thing over and over.
I'm going to watch this Mevis kick again here and see if we can tell anything. I don't know if you can tell if it's going in or not, but the problem is like—
You can't block.
It got— yeah, you can't, you can't block on it.
It's not all Mevis.
Credit to the Bills line on that play for running something that worked and fucking up kind of like the interior right side of it.
But yeah, it's not saying the Rams special teams is bad. It's not just like, oh, they have bad kickers. That's not it. They have bad coverage. They have bad blocking. Like every single year it happens.
Yeah, the blocking was bad. The blocking was really, really bad. on that. But also, yeah, there's other points in that game that you could question some decision-making too. The Bills, Josh Allen with his feet. Troy Aikman kept saying like, yeah, this guy's actually a triple threat because he can beat you with his arm, his legs, or his brain.
Yeah.
Usually you very rarely get the triple threat. What about the heart? Is there a quadruple threat quarterback?
Might be.
The balls, a quintuple threat quarterback. But yeah. Allen had an amazing night running the football last night. Unstoppable running the football.
It's—
the Bills are the exact same team they've been every single year in that their defense is a weakness, although their defensive line played like decently well. They got after Stafford, especially in the first half. Josh Allen has to be Superman for them to win football games.
Yeah.
Against really good opponents. Bad opponents, they can win. Good opponents, playoff teams. Josh Allen has to be— he had to be— he had to put on the cape. that last quarter and, you know, just start running every single time he was given a lane.
What I'm seeing from Joe Brady this year is they are, they are a lot of the same Bills that we saw in the past. They're just more of the same Bills, just like they're doing the same stuff, but they're doing it harder.
Yeah.
I mean, DJ Moore is very significant when he's not playing. It does feel like they don't have enough guys who can get open on their own.
It looked like last year.
Yeah.
With no DJ Moore when he is playing. It's— he is a difference maker because he's a truly elite talent when he's on the field. When he's off, the team looked very similar except Josh Allen somehow looks like he's getting better year over year.
James Cook keeps fumbling. I feel like that's— that just keeps happening. Hank, you had this as a scheduled loss for the Bills.
No, not necessarily.
No, because remember we had the conversation about you, you, The destiny. AFC East goes through—
it does—
the Patriots. But part of that was you beating the Raiders and the Bills losing to the Rams.
Yes, but even still, the Patriots control their own destiny, right?
So—
But did anything you saw last night change your opinion?
No, the Bills are— the Bills are good. The Bills are really good. Like you said, they're the same Bills.
They are.
Josh Allen needs to be Superman. And then what happens is in the playoffs, like, there's no room for error in one little error by someone, maybe not even Josh Allen, like that's how you win or lose games. So I don't, as good as they look, it's like they've looked this good for the last 7 years and gone. So it's like they're, they're a respectable opponent.
This actually demolishes the haters, the Patriots haters line of reasoning that the Bills haven't beaten any good teams.
Yeah.
Completely destroys that because the Rams, I think, are a good team.
Yes, definitely. They're 2-3, but yes, they're a good team. So, all right, so here was the stat, by the way, uh, to back up everything I was saying about the special teams. The Rams are the only team in NFL history to amass 400 total yards, gain 30+ first downs, score 5+ touchdowns, convert 50% of their third downs, and have zero turnovers and lose the game. The Rams special team came into Week 5 ranked 32nd in DVOA. They've been 26th or worse in 4 of the last 5 seasons. And if you go by win probability lost, they lost -110% win probability over the course of the 2025 season from special team snaps. In 2026, which is just 5 games, they've already lost -104% win probability in special teams.
Special teams, a third of the game. It's— people forget that.
Big Vay just ignores it. Yeah, I guess he didn't because he did fire the guy, right, last year. But like, They just aren't. That's just a philosophy. Like, the Rams is a philosophy. They just like, we'll make a super team and we'll figure out special teams later. It's like, and it rears its ugly head.
So it's actually not a third of the game, obviously, like nowhere near a third of the game by snap count. But when you look at how disproportionately it affects whether or not the Rams win or lose, it's, it's actually, it's actually half the game.
Yeah. For the Rams, it's not a third of the game, but it is. I always just go back to like when you get in these big games, playoffs or regular season game against a comparable opponent, it's magnified because they're so equal in talent. What's the difference going to be? A lot of times it will be a special teams play.
Yeah. Our guy Paganotti, he keeps saying that they should get Taco Fall to play defensive line on field goal attempts and just have him stand as close to the line of scrimmage as possible. Just jump and just jump straight up in the air.
Just jump. Yeah. So yeah, that was— it was a great Monday Night Football game.
Also, Aaron Donald back. Yes. I think we can now say officially back.
I'd agree.
After his play last night.
I'd agree. Trying to think if there's anything else that we—
yeah. And Puka Nacua is just unstoppable.
Puka Nacua is. Yeah. I mean, I feel like he got targeted 30 times.
He— that was a catch, by the way.
Which one?
On the sideline.
Yeah. Wait, he had so many.
The one that got overturned where his foot— he like dragged his foot in. It hit the ground, but then like when the pellets started flying up, he was out of bounds.
Honestly, he caught so many balls. I'm actually thinking of like 3 different times this happened.
They said it was a process of a step. The process of a step. Okay. That's why he was out of bounds.
Got it.
He—
yeah, I mean, he was so good.
But it's also— I don't understand the NFL. Like the— there was— it brought up the conversation a few years ago when I think it was Tee Higgins like caught the ball and his heel hit the ground first inbounds and then his foot came down out of bounds and they said that wasn't a catch either. But if you do a toe drag, which is what Puka Nacua did—
Wait, is it this one? Because this one I thought was definitely out of bounds.
No.
Okay. Yeah. See, it was that one.
No, it was, it's this one.
I think that, I think he is out of bounds.
I think his—
It hits the ground. Like his foot—
Because what we're talking about now is like the front cleats On his shoe landed first in bounds, but then as the toe came down, that's— oh yeah, you're right.
I think that is in bounds.
Right. But then when it's— when the turf comes up or like the pellets come up, it looks like it's out of bounds, but it's in.
Yes.
So the explanation was that it was one full step. So it's like a slide.
What's a toe drag? I think that's like—
what's—
I think that's out of bounds.
What's a toe drag then?
That's not a full step.
Well, it's a toe tap. So the toe tap is the process.
His cleats tapped, not the toe. The cleats tapped and then the toe came down.
So is the cleat not part of your toe?
I don't know. This is where it's like that to me looks— if you were to ask a drunk guy in a bar, and I've been a drunk guy in a bar plenty of times, that's not a catch.
Yeah, when I was watching on TV last night, I was like, that's not a catch.
He had an awesome game last night. That in particular. And he's so good that there's always Puka Nacua leads the league in spectacular almost catches in addition to spectacular catches. He just makes so many of them that, yeah, there's going to be some that, that just barely don't break his way. That's very close to being a great catch. I would say it's not a catch.
He also— Puka Nacua leads the league. Like, I don't, I don't understand the concussion spotter thing and how it works. I feel like he should have been spotted like 6 times last night. He was getting smoked.
Yeah, I think he's kind of got—
he's—
I feel like he's getting into like Gronk territory where he just kind of like feels like he's permanently concussed. So they never really— it's hard to gauge, right, when he is concussed because he kind of just has that like there's always, always concussed vibe.
Yeah, there's multiple times where he took a hit over the middle. I was like, oh, that was bad.
It's like, how do you do the concussion protocol on Ben Mintz?
Yeah, exactly.
Like, it's tough to— it's tough to really prove anything.
Yeah.
Okay. Any other, any other stories for, or things we need to clean up from this weekend? Week 5, chaotic week.
I also think that the Rams will be fine, just, just to be clear. But they're getting close to the level of being in a hole that is going to end up costing them at the end of the year somehow.
I, yeah, I thought that for a second. Then I looked at their schedule. So I just, it's kind of like my buy stock in Texans. Like there's I think the schedule has just been— and like, to go the other way, uh, I think the Chiefs have like a tough schedule coming up. So there's gonna be— there was some disproportionate scheduling to start the season.
I've just seen it enough where you have losses that, that add up, like the loss to the Broncos in a game that they should have won, the loss to the Bills in a game that they could have won. Those happen early in the season. They tend to manifest themselves later on in a way that you can't see coming, whether that's race for higher seeding or even getting into the playoffs. Those things tend to come back around. Yeah.
Yeah.
Okay.
What else? What else? Anything else from week 5?
Hank, any, any cleanup on the Dan Quinn press conferences? I feel like more details came out on Monday.
What was it?
More— so many details.
Just, I guess the blame—
no details. It's just basically more people having opinions on it. And sometimes you listen back to the things that you say on the show. And you're like, I wish I could have said that. I think I nailed my response to what happened. Fucking nailed it.
A+.
I graded myself out A+. Because it is 100%. 100%. Actually, no, B+, because I'll walk back one thing. I'll say it's 100% on Jayden Daniels. And then it's— I'm going to reduce blame on Dan Quinn and say it is 100% Jayden Daniels, 75% on David Blough, 25% on Dan Quinn. I think Dan Quinn is doing a— What, Hank?
You know the team better. Isn't like— Blough is the play caller. Dan Quinn is like, he's the one that's supposed to have the clock management. Like, that's his main job.
Yeah, but where I think— and it's impossible to tell because—
But it's not— it's the play caller's fault?
It's impossible to tell what happened because everybody's going to lie about it. And you're going to have every guy saying like, that's on me. And so we're never going to know exactly what happened, which is why in a situation—
Well, Jayden kind of did say it was on the coaching.
That's what I said after the game, which is when he was like, when he tried to take responsibility, he said top down, like kind of a scummy move. If that ends up not being like if the coaching staff had nothing to do with it, pretty scummy move for him to say that in a situation where the fans are like, we have to know. what happened. We have to know. They should release all the communications.
Yes.
They should, like, release the audio from what happened. I want to know exactly what went down at the end. I suspect that it's David Blough because everybody's lying about it. It sounds like they're trying to do 2 things. One, protect Jayden. 2, protect David Blough, first-year signal caller. And they have a lot of faith in him as like a future offensive mind. They don't want to throw him under the bus for this. The play call that they put in at the end made no sense. The substitution made no sense. I know Chris Paul said that they knew that there was a timeout left. The way that every player on the field reacted after Jayden went down, getting back to the line of scrimmage, no sense of urgency. So I guess not everybody knew that there was a— there were no timeouts left. I think it was a bad play call, uh, bad situational awareness by, uh, the offensive coordinator. And Dan Quinn is going to take a lot of the blame for it because it does fall under Like his decision-making. But I think if you're going to put blame on coaching staff, it's probably the offensive coordinator who's doing most of the talking to the quarterback there.
And almost every former quarterback that I've heard break this down, of course, they're never going to blame it on the quarterback because they're quarterbacks, the Dan Orlovskys of the world. But everybody that's talking about it is saying like, yeah, good coordinators will tell you awareness, which I think is disrespectful to Jayden.
Yeah.
acting like he doesn't have any responsibility in this, like he can't think for himself at the end of a game. It's definitely on him 100%. But it's also, if you're going to put blame on coaching staff, I think it's probably on the OC and Dan Quinn is falling on the sword. That's what I think. He said Dan Quinn goes, he's furious about our execution. It took entirely too long. No one's madder than Dan Quinn about their execution except the state of Tennessee this week. But it's bad. It's bad. And The good news is if you look at what's coming up this week, we got the 49ers on Monday Night Football.
Nice.
That means there's no better opportunity to get people to stop talking about what happened than if you go into Santa Clara and you beat the 49ers on Monday Night Football.
So true.
There is, there is that window where that would, that would, you have the opportunity to take what should be a fireable offense for Dan Quinn. and fix it almost immediately so that Dan Quinn can then go on to have his next fireable offense.
Well, flip side, maybe this is a good thing because like fireable offense, people are calling for his job. They go out and get like 40-piece by the 49ers.
Yeah.
He's fired on Monday.
Probably.
Also might be a good thing because Jayden Daniels will pay more attention to situational awareness now. Like that was a good learning lesson.
Yeah.
Is it like high school, like in the pros where like they just, they come into practice Monday and they just like do end of game plays for like the whole practice, like no ball. We're just going to run through end-of-game situations.
You have a, you have a ball though in end of game.
No, I know.
But like, you know what I'm talking about? Like, we're strictly going through. Yeah.
I think Jaden needs to program some last-second spikes into his virtual reality simulator. I think that would help. He probably doesn't practice those in VR in the metaverse. But I have to assume that they practice that anyways. But if they go out, they get killed by the, by the Niners. Yeah. Dan Quinn, very likely. would be fired at that point. And then Anthony Lynn takes over. But yeah, there's, there's a lot of other stuff that I watched back in that game where it's inexcusable that the game even went to overtime with a 14-point lead in the 4th quarter.
What if you guys get Harbaugh?
Hmm.
Which one?
John or Jim?
Oh, I thought special teams, maybe the son.
No.
Why would we get Harbaugh?
He's going to get fired. Dan Quinn's going to get fired.
Why would we get Harbaugh?
Why not?
Yeah, why not?
You got to get someone.
We do have to get somebody. That's a good point. I think that there's a chance that Josh Harris just completely focused on coddling LeBron right now and isn't even paying attention to the losses.
Now he's got Magic in his, in his, in his ear.
Yeah.
That's another thing I want to talk about later.
What?
I got a—
hmm.
We can save that. We can save that for baseball talk.
Okay. Okay.
But yeah, so where I'm at is 100% on Jayden, 75% on David Blough, 25% on Dan Quinn. But Dan Quinn's going to end up taking 200% of the accountability for it.
And Jayden's going to take zero.
Probably.
Yeah.
Yeah, probably. Because I mean, we still believe in him as a franchise quarterback. And I do. I don't think this hasn't affected— like, it makes me question his— like, where his head was at in the last second. But in terms of is he the future quarterback? Yes, 100%.
Mm-hmm.
Okay.
Any other, any other— what's, what's— is Nick Sirianni whatever? He's just fine. He's going to be—
Yeah, I'll be fine.
You figure it out. You'll figure it out.
This is kind of what happens.
Everyone gets super mad on—
Yeah.
Monday's an emotional day in the world of NFL football. Sunday and Monday. Okay, well, let's do hot seat, cool throne, and we'll, we'll, we'll go to Brandon Walker with the college football. Henry, hot seat, cool throne.
My hot seat's the Bay Area.
Oh, why?
Which bay?
You see the Cal— the Cal's uniforms? Yeah, those are cool helmets. The Grateful Dead, those are sick.
Because this might be a little, you know, taking it 2 steps too far in a conspiracy theory. But obviously everyone talks about the substation with the 49ers and that, you know, stops the— yeah, the Brandon Aiyuk situation. Like they put that on the substation. He stopped showing up to practice. No one knew where he was or what was going on. Like they would ask him and the coaches and players were just like, we don't know.
Maybe the biggest sign that he was insane was that he wanted to join the Commanders.
Yeah.
But now Kristaps Porzingis is doing the same thing. He's on the Warriors in the Bay Area and he's not, he's just not showing up to practice like in the team and players like just don't know where he is. It's not, he obviously has had health issues the last like couple years and like somewhat of a mystery, like even on the Celtics.
Big mystery.
Yeah.
But now he's just, now he's just disappeared. And I don't know, I'm starting to think if that substation just, you know, it's bigger than the 49ers. It's just something, something in the Bay.
I like you tying it all together. Kristaps is the guy that if there's anybody that's missing time with a mystery injury, it's, it's him. And I've seen— so he's probably the guy that people vague post the most about. Like, people are always saying, like, everyone knows what it is, but no one wants to say it.
But now he's just not even— he's nowhere to be found. It's not even like it's— it's— and when the, when the coaches and players talk about it, it's like, yeah, we don't know when he'll be back because we don't know where he is. And like, we're not, you know, he's not answering messages.
Oh, we have an update. Will be— Kristaps Porzingis will be at the Warriors facility on Tuesday to meet with team's medical staff. It remains unclear when Porzingis will be able to return.
So he has a doctor's appointment.
Not really an update.
Breaking news. He's scheduled. He logged on to Zocdoc and he's seeing a doctor.
It's, it's very bizarre. I don't know what's going on. I hope he's okay, but it's just, it's very bizarre. And like, didn't Steve Kerr say something about it last year? But it was like, Kind of like, hey, HIPAA. Like, so then Kristof's maybe— I don't know. It's weird. Yes, Steve. Steve Kirsch said he hadn't seen him yet.
It's really strange.
So the Bay Area, do you think maybe it's Zodiac Killer?
Maybe.
Did you guys see that article on Substack on Zodiac?
Yes.
Some guy was like, I'm pretty sure my dad's Zodiac Killer, but there's been like—
and here's why—
3 guys that have done that.
I know, but it was pretty compelling.
That's like it's a new trend. Where if you want to blow up on TikTok, you just accuse one of your family members of being a serial killer. Oh, shit. I was going through my grandfather's shed.
Yeah.
And I found— that's like, that's better than leaving them money is when you die, just leave them evidence that you're a serial killer and let them reap all the benefits on social media.
I think this guy's dad was still alive. He's— it was— I haven't seen all the other ones. I just saw this one. I read it and I was like, yep, throw away the key. He's, he's guilty.
I think they found— they found the guy, right?
Who?
I think the cops.
Zodiac Killer?
I think so. I think that they're like a couple of years ago, they figured out who it was.
Oh, I thought the same thing. It was another— no, it was another kid that like accused his dad.
That was another guy that was doing it for— For internet points.
We might be talking about the same person because I think that one was in the documentary.
August. Oh, oh, got it. But that's also how the fucking BTK guy— remember, he was just a regular guy and then his family was like, well, no, he fucked up sending in Didn't he ask someone like, hey, floppy disk can't be traced, the metadata can't be traced. And they were like, yeah, no. Or the cops are like, yeah, no problem, send it in. He sent it in. They're like, idiot, dumbass. I don't know where the, the BTK— hold on, I'll see.
That's the biggest come on, man, of all time.
Dumbass.
That picture look like anybody you know?
I'm not gonna say.
Yeah, I can see it. It's a handsome guy. Very handsome.
Yeah, this was, uh, a lot of good golf courses in the Bay Area. My dad may be the Zodiac Killer. And then he went on to explain—
it was a good article.
The Zodiac, he was left-handed, right?
Hmm.
Was he?
Hmm.
Interesting.
Speaking of that, so kind of, not really, but, uh, Oh, he might have been ambidextrous is what I'm saying. Oh, now we're talking.
Interesting. Interesting.
Great ones always are. My cool throne is, I guess, just the haters.
Congrats to the haters.
Liv is dead. This is it.
What?
This is it.
We got to have—
what?
The final time?
No.
That I will ever bring up or Liv 2.0 is dead.
So Liv 3.0 loading.
I think it's— I think—
I think—
listen, I think sometimes in golf and in life, you try and do something to disrupt the industry and make a, make a, make a splash. And maybe you're just wrong. Maybe you were wrong and you just never should have went down that path in the first place.
Or maybe it's the haters that, that ruined it. It would have worked if it weren't for the naysayers.
Yeah, maybe. Yeah, maybe they had fun doing it. But like, it was like the, the haters and the people, you know, dismissing you.
It just—
it ended up being correct.
May we do an impromptu press conference? Would you be taking questions right now?
Sure.
Okay.
Yeah. Big Cat.
Hey, Henry. Dan Katz, pardon my take here. Quick question. So you said Liv is dead in your statement that you just read to us. Pre-written statement. Really good job. You said Liv is dead. Do you have any regrets Knowing that you caped and soapboxed and rode so hard for LIV and you got $0 from it when they were giving out millions and millions of dollars to people?
My passion for golf is not tied financially. It's just something that I love and I love the game of golf and I love watching golf. So when— no, I do not feel any regret about that. I did not. I did not become a fan because I was thinking about making money off it.
What if I told you LIV was going to offer you $5 million 3 years years ago and you didn't do it, would you regret that?
Yes.
Okay.
That did not happen.
Yeah. But what if they did?
Then it would be a regret, but it did not happen.
I think I have a question.
Yes.
APX from part of my team. No, you don't get to say that. You know, only memes, only memes. Is this a bit premature?
No.
So the players have until August or October 25th.
The news came out that the DP World Tour will not, which previously they were allowed to, players in LIV were allowed to play DP World Tour events.
Mm-hmm.
DP World Tour came out and said that if you wanna play in the DP World Tour, you can't play on LIV. And all of the good players on LIV wanna play on the DP World Tour cuz that's their path to back the PGA Tour. So essentially no one, maybe some of the older guys that are like, we're not competing at a high level anymore, maybe they stick around. Anyone that's good and young is not gonna make a deal where they cannot play DP World Tour events.
So Cameron Tringale, he's sticking around.
He's old.
He's sticking around. Don't dismiss him.
So where are they? Where are the old guys going to play?
Richard Bland, where's he going to go?
Where are the old guys going to play?
I don't know. They might—
they're going to go out and just play on a course and be like, this is LIV now.
The Senior LIV Tour.
That's pretty much what it's going to be if it even happens.
The Champions Tour.
But that's not worth talking about. So.
None of this was worth talking about.
Do you have any questions?
I disagree.
I don't—
I don't care.
I don't care. My question is, can we get to the next topic?
I think that the only winner— that's it.
That's why— that's my cool thing.
There are a couple winners when it comes to the LIV Golf arrangement. One, I think ultimately the PGA Tour ended up winning the pissing contest, but Brooks Koepka played it just about perfectly.
Oh yeah.
Yeah.
Oh yeah. Big time. Hank, last question. If the LIV people were to contact you now and say, hey, we'd like to do something to keep this going in some capacity, would you take their phone call?
I mean, I would, I would direct them to sales. We know, you know how this company works. We were, we're the for-profit business. If, yeah, if a company wants to offer money to promote, I'm down to change my tune on LIV.
Yeah.
That's like, I'm open to business.
If they wanted to do it for nothing, no.
If LIV wants to give us their IP, we'll, we'll just change it into like, we'll just make the LIV accounts all just Pardon My Take Golf and we'll invite some of these old guys to come play golf with us, make a video like, what's his name? What was the old guy's name?
Tringali.
Tringali.
You ever fucking sprint on a 400-yard par 4, buddy?
Bland. Victor Perez. All the big names in golf. Is this the worst thing Saudi Arabia has ever been accused of funding?
That was a made-up name.
I think it probably is.
Victor Perez.
Victor Perez sounds good.
Who is that? Who's Victor Perez? I don't know what team he is.
You know Victor Perez.
I thought I read his name the other day.
He finished second in, uh—
I think you're thinking of a—
Yeah, he plays on the LIV Golf Tour.
What?
Yeah. Yeah. Look at that.
Wow.
Wow.
I thought you were talking about—
Wow. Idiot.
Pat Perez. Dude, he's been Playing on Cleeks Golf Club since November 2025.
I thought you were talking about Pat Perez.
Maybe if you knew who Victor Perez was, LIV would've survived.
Yeah, but he's in the DPFT. This might be our LIV guy.
Yeah, this is a DP World Tour event, so he's gonna be keep playing on that.
Well, yeah, that's why he—
I thought you were talking about Pat Perez, former ace. My bad.
No, I'm talking about Cleeks VP. You don't know Cleeks, bro.
No, you're right. I was never much of a Cleeker.
More of a cheeks guy.
Yeah.
All right. PFT.
My hot seat is Shohei Ohtani.
By the way, LIV is not dead on this podcast.
We will definitely bring it back. Yes, it is for me.
Yeah, it's— they have a lead investor. Shohei Ohtani is on the hot seat because the Dodgers are openly talking about possibly benching him because he's been so bad for the last, what, 2 months now?
Yeah, he hasn't hit a home run since August 18th.
And his—
the We probably have already talked about this.
Yeah, we probably have already talked about this.
Okay.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Just because we're going to do baseball. So we're definitely going to talk about Shohei being benched.
Okay. We can cut that then.
Sorry.
I feel like that's just going to—
because, yeah, I'm definitely going to bring it up. I was definitely going to need a hot seat.
Well, no, no, because that— when I said I had something else I wanted to get into about baseball. I guess I can still do that with this. I can still do that with this.
Do you need a hot seat?
No, no.
Okay.
So I said I had some more baseball stuff to get into today. I'm going to put the wind— the windy fingers up and say what is going on truly with Shohei. Because you look at when this cold streak started and it was what, August 18th? I believe the Los Angeles Lakers were sold on August 17th. And I believe news of the investigation kind of hit a peak shortly thereafter.
Mm-hmm.
And if you look too deep into it, you see that Walter, the, the former owner of the Lakers, current owner still of the Dodgers, also has some shady business arrangements going on that allowed him to purchase the Dodgers in the first place.
Mm-hmm.
Namely, selling a company to Magic Johnson for $350 million to make Magic Johnson a billionaire, welcoming him in as the owner of— or to be able to buy the Dodgers. It was kind of a move to get the former Dodgers ownership and everything pulled in via Magic Johnson and possibly that transaction for $350 million to get him to become owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Okay.
Then there's a lot of questions about what's going on with Uh, the different contracts that the Dodgers are allowed to offer players.
Yep.
Is that money? Does it actually exist? I just think it's interesting timing.
Yeah.
That as this investigation against the owner hits a fever pitch, that's exactly when Shohei Ohtani stops hitting. Yeah, he's also been hurt. But I mean, that's also—
But he's also stopped hitting.
That's also like the best baseball player in the world not being able to hit anymore.
And when— Not this year.
And not this year, but when he does hit, he's slapping 70-mile-an-hour singles to left field. I just think that's interesting. That's all.
Yeah, he's got— he's been bad.
Do you guys—
interesting.
Anyone else think that's interesting?
I definitely think that's interesting.
Something, something, something's weird with him.
Something's up. Something's up with the whole— I'm starting to think this Mark Walter guy might not be on the up and up.
Yeah.
I'm not gonna lie. You lost me about halfway through that, but I agree.
That's a good way to— good way to just move it on. That was good.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Good job, Max.
When people started talking about the owner of the Dodgers—
Now we're good.
That's when Ohtani started fucking up.
Yeah. When he went under a microscope, Ohtani started sucking.
Yeah.
Maybe Ohtani was told he's not going to get paid and he needs to get paid because Ippei.
Got it.
Yeah. And then there's a whole Ippei situation thrown into it too.
You had me until you said Ippei.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah. Forget about that. Shohei Ohtani worried about money. Owner Dodgers maybe not have all money to pay Shohei. Now Shohei suck.
So he's sucking on purpose?
No, he's thinking something's on his mind. Maybe.
Got it.
All right.
Distracting him.
Yep.
He hasn't been taking the cave parlay.
You know what, Max? Look into it for me.
I'll do it.
Yeah.
If Ippei rode the cave parlay, we wouldn't be having this conversation.
Yeah. Shohei. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
My cool thrown is books. Oh, we talked about books the other week because Alex Earl had never read one.
Yep.
The book that I mentioned, maybe my favorite book of my childhood, is becoming— oh yes, it's becoming a movie now. Hatchet by Gary Paulsen, right?
Yeah.
They're making that into a movie.
Can't wait.
I have not been this fired up for a movie in a long time.
Can't wait. And can't wait to be able to say book was better.
The book is better. This is going to be like when I read it in 5th grade. that was actually better. Now they're probably gonna make this movie, I would guess, for children. Mm-hmm.
Right?
No, it's gonna be— what they should do is they should market it to people that read that book when they were kids.
Yeah.
And now they grow up and that's the only book they think about when they think about books they read.
I think it'll be like a Stand By Me situation.
Oh, Jerry O'Connell might be—
yeah, you know, like, yeah, kind of for kids but like also for adults.
Maybe get Jerry O'Connell as the pilot at the start.
Yeah, I don't see why not.
I think he'd be good at that.
I like this.
He just farts on himself and has a heart attack.
Yeah, this is a big one. Now they just got to do The Giver.
The Giver. That one is dark.
Yeah, but that— but that was maybe that— is that a movie?
They might have tried that.
The Giver, Of Mice and Men, The Hatchet. I think Of Mice and Men is a movie, right?
Yeah. With Gary Sinise and what's his name? Malkovich, I think, is in that one.
Okay.
They did make The Giver.
Yeah. All right.
So we're good. We've made them all.
So bring it. Yeah. I'm very excited about Hatchet, the movie.
Yeah, me too.
They got to get the Hatchet right. The Hatchet has to be cast perfectly.
What's the other one? What's the—
what's the—
is it White Fang? No.
Yeah.
White Fang. That was a good one. That was— was that Jack London?
That was a movie too, I think.
1984.
1984.
The book?
What are you talking about?
Fahrenheit 451. I'm just naming books that I—
books that become movies.
Books you read in high school?
I think, yeah. And then maybe even younger.
I mean, I've said this before, but the hack is just read every Michael Lewis book. It always becomes a movie.
Yeah.
Moneyball, Blindside, Big Short. They just all become movies. It's very easy to do. And then you can just walk around and say the book was better. better and sound like you're, you're smart, and you're not because you're me. Okay, my hot seat is, uh, the Tennessee Titans. We talked about the Tennessee Titans, but Titans fan Samuel Brown RBT, uh, went a little viral on Monday because he did a, uh, thread of the Titans since trading AJ Brown. And I want to read some of these things because I, I think we need to start putting more respect on Titans fans. pain and suffering because it's been really, really brutal. Uh, since trading AJ Brown, the Titans have the worst record in the NFL at 19-54. That's a lot of losses, not a lot of wins.
Yep.
Uh, eventually led to the firing of Mike Vrabel. The record since firing Mike Vrabel is 6-33. They have won 2 home games and 1 division game total in the last 3 seasons. Uh, 3 seasons. AJ Brown won a Super Bowl. Mike Vrabel made a Super Bowl. AJ Brown had more Super Bowl appearances with the Eagles than Treylon Burks had receiving touchdowns with the Titans. Treylon Burks, who they got in that, uh, trade. They've scored 17.2 points per game since the trade, the worst in the NFL. They let Derrick Henry walk. Then Derrick Henry has 732 more rushing yards and 22 more rushing touchdowns. than the entire Titans running back room since leaving.
Mm-hmm.
That's an insane one. Insane stat. They traded Malik Willis for a 7th rounder. He then beat them 27 days later as a starting quarterback by 16 points. Traded Kevin Byard to the Eagles for 2 draft picks. None of those players are still on the Titans 2 seasons later. They lost their radio guy to the University of Tennessee. They lost their hype man. I don't even know why that one. They just lost him. They've never replaced Lance Smith. Lowest attendance number since Nissan Stadium opened in 1999. And they dropped the Greek mythology bit from the Titans branding. So no one knows what the Titans even mean anymore.
Brutal.
I, you know what? I feel bad for the Titans. Of all that, they got to bring back Lance Smith. I feel, I feel like he's the key. Yeah, the game day host.
It sounds like Lance Smith was very, very important. And Mike Keith.
And Mike Keith and the Greek mythology bit from, yeah, from the logos. Yeah, it's been, it's been really, really bad.
Just having it written out was like, oh man, we got to put a little more respect on Titans fans, the sufferings they've suffered, they've gone through.
They seem like they skate a little bit when we're talking about the worst, most petty owners in sports. Yeah, I think, you know what it was for me when, when Vrabel went up to New England and they like honored him there during the bye week and then he went back to Tennessee.
Yeah.
And Tennessee caught big feelings about that.
Yeah.
The ownership was like, what the fuck? Are you a Patriots guy? Are you a Titans guy? Yeah, like that. told me that they're operating from a, a pretty bad position of insecurity in most things that they do.
I'd agree.
I'd agree.
Uh, it's just for whatever reason, I think it's because they're one of the newer franchises and the color scheme. I don't know. It's just the Titans are really— they're going through it right now. So I feel bad for Titans fans. You are seen. Uh, shout out Samuel Brown at RBT for that thread to, to write it all out. I'd imagine he was like sobbing, lightly sobbing while writing that out, and rightfully so. My cool throne is the Philadelphia Eagles because Big Dom did a public appearance on Monday night and said he's going to fix it.
Yeah.
Get things right on back on track.
He didn't say he was going to fix it.
Was he with Sirianni?
No.
Did he say we—
Big Dom on stage promising Eagles will be fixed.
Okay.
So Eagles would be fixed.
You're right.
Eagles would be fixed.
I actually believe that's a big-time game.
100% believe them.
Must win this weekend.
Who are you playing?
Panthers.
Panthers showing off a lot. Bryce Young is good.
Eagles defense has made a lot of good quarterbacks look pretty pedestrian the past couple of weeks.
Not Case Keenum.
Not Case Keenum. Case Keenum is an excellent quarterback. If we had Tyson Bagent, who knows what happens?
That's true.
Yeah, this whole season could be different.
That Vikings concussion of Tyson Bagent was really totally different game.
The whole season could be different.
Totally different.
I'm glad that— I'm glad Big Dom is taking some accountability, though. That's the kind of guy he is.
And the fucking concussion guy.
The fucking concussion guy. Who's that?
We already talked about the concussion guys.
Yeah, right.
Oh, he's talking back. He's talking back about the—
You said— you said I don't get the concussion guys. Neither do I.
Yeah, I said that.
Or somebody said it. Yeah, it was said on—
it was said on the show.
Someone said it. Big Dom is going to save the Eagles.
Yeah, the Eagles are going to— Eagles are going to win this weekend.
They're going to get fixed.
Must win. They're going to win.
You could still win the division even if you lose.
Yeah, because then we play the Cowboys.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You guys are still in it, Max.
Shut up.
It is bullshit that like I was looking at the standings today. It's like The Bucs are still alive. Like, they're 1-4. You shouldn't be 1-4 and be like, we could still win our division.
You play where you play.
The NFC North, every team is over .500. If there was a— if the Bears were 1-4 and the Vikings are 5-0, you can't, you can't catch that. The Bucs are like, yeah, we're 1-4. We're like a game away from, from being back in this. It's not right.
Not dead, Zach.
It's not right, Zach.
Not dead. Hank, what'd you think about it? Big Dom's promise. Like Babe Ruth in the hospital to the kid. Big Dom, we're going to get this fixed.
And be careful with what you say.
Yeah, that's— it's— if you're an Eagles fan, you probably are down in the dumps. But then you hear that and it's like, all right, we're all the way back. Why is our head of security speaking at the— like making a public appearance? I don't know. I like what he's saying. Union guy. Yeah.
Big Dem.
He's a union guy.
Lib Dom.
So you do— I think the Eagles are going to be back. I might bet the Eagles out of respect for Big Dom this week.
Same.
I'm going to do that. What's those— what's the spread? Whose line is it anyway?
It's Eagles minus 1.5. We're not even— we're not— we don't even have to play the game.
Fine.
Eagles minus 1.5.
There we go.
Eagles. And guys are getting— Apparently guys are supposed to be getting healthy. Saquon should be back. DeVonta Smith should be back.
That's big, Dom.
That's huge.
Yeah.
All right.
I think for him to say something like that, he knows something that we don't know.
Shit's getting turning around.
So I'm going to trust him. What's, what are the odds right now for the Eagles to win that division?
I think they're the favorite, right?
Plus money.
Yeah.
We looked at it. There was, they were like plus 170. Cowboys were like plus 180. Giants who are in first. I want to say really plus 310 and then you guys were like plus 700.
I'll say this.
Yeah. I fucking nailed that.
Yeah. In the years when the NFC East is like a joke of a division, that tends to be where you see the Commanders graphic flash up on the list of division winners over the years. It's when everybody is below .500.
NFC least.
Yeah.
But NFC least.
Max, you're not out of it yet.
Nope.
That was really nice of you, PFT.
He's like that. My guy's right in there. You could still do like the Eagles. I know you're going through a tough time. There's a lot of questions about end of game clock management with your sad little team. But you're right in there, Max.
You're in there.
Stay in the fight.
Yeah, hang in there.
Okay, Zach.
I'm a hot seat this week. It's gonna be FIFA president Gianni Infantino. You guys see what's going on with him?
No.
Is it something good?
Uh, not anything good, no. They're saying— so you know, we— a country did recently host the World Cup. That was us. They're saying that the organization that put together that World Cup, who was entrusted to do so, may have slid Gianni roughly a $1.7 million envelope, and FIFA's just denying it.
No.
They're saying that didn't happen. They're saying his $6 million salary is just enough, and that the $1.7 didn't come through, and it definitely wasn't from the host country.
No. I—
No. Why would the head of FIFA lie about that? A bribe?
Soccer?
You kidding me?
Come on.
He just plain in the face. 1.7.
I saw somebody made a post. I think it was during the World Cup when it was right after Balogun got brought back and they overturned the suspension. And it was some British guy just being like, I miss Sepp Blatter, a proper brown envelopes man.
It's true.
Like Sepp Blatter, he did corruption, but he did it classily.
Something to be said for that.
We long for the days of— yeah, like he would meet you probably in the finest hotels, the, like, lobby bar of the Four Seasons. He'd have a corner table set aside just for you and him. And then you would put the envelope discreetly on the ground. He would pick— he would have the guy that he was with pick it up so he didn't touch it. That's how business should be done with FIFA. I don't like the accusations of, like, behind the scenes. Yeah, maybe crypto bribes, all that. That to me seems beneath the sport of soccer. Let's bring back Sep.
No tree companies in soccer. They just do it right in front of you.
Yeah.
Then they deny it. Also, quick update, I guess, since we're talking soccer, Tottenham 19th on the table, gentlemen.
Okay.
What, 19th?
19th, I believe.
Yeah.
Whoa.
You guys look for updates there sometimes, but up the Spurs.
Yes.
Spurs down.
Who do you root for again?
I'm a Chelsea guy. We're 6th.
Okay.
You guys done any nefarious things?
Oh, yeah.
Everybody gets nefarious, but yeah, you got to get a little bit.
Are you jealous that like—
That's a year away.
That you got nefarious, but you didn't even try to get nearly as nefarious as Man City did.
No, because that kind of nefariousness leads you to relegation.
That whole, that whole scandal, after you read more and more about it, it gets funnier and funnier. They just made up companies to sponsor the team.
It's also kind of impressive because it just kept going.
Yeah. Like, some of their main sponsors just didn't exist.
Yeah.
So you just, whatever you put into a spreadsheet and print off enough times. can become true for long enough.
Yeah.
And then now there's speculation that they won't get demoted, they won't get relegated because the country of England relies too much on energy, oil and gas from the country that owns Man City. So it's like they don't want to upset the ruling parties, so they can't give them too much of a punishment when it comes to like points punishments.
It's like starts playing with the resources of the country.
Yeah.
Like it will put the squeeze on these quick if you—
Right.
Like it'll infect It'll affect all of England if you relegate Man City.
Yeah, you can't. They're too big to fail.
They're too big to fail.
Yeah, they're too big to fail.
It's maybe the funniest, funniest scandal, but also like maybe the, maybe the biggest scandal in the history of sports.
Zach, you got a cool throw?
I do. My cool throw this week is going to be Penny Hardaway. Penny Hardaway stepped in. You guys know, new era of sports. A lot of guys getting paid before they make it to the league. Memphis said, Penny, if you want more money, you're gonna have to pay up. And he decided, okay, fine, I'll push $2.6 million of my own money into the $9 million total pot to— I love this. Keep some guys. He said, look, I had a great career. I want to coach this team.
I'll say this.
I'm shocked more guys don't do this because you're basically investing in yourself. If Penny Hart— if you are— if you have money, if you're an ex-player and you're a coach, if you have, let's say, $100 million, Putting $2 to $3 million in your roster. If your team does well, you could probably make millions more on your contract, right? Like, it's actually a genius move.
He didn't want back-to-back bad years. He's like, I'll just bet on myself.
I like it. I like it. More guys should do it. That was awesome.
Also, I feel like that's a great way to win over the locker room. Like, hey, I really believe in you guys, right? I'm pushing all in.
This also seems like maybe a move that is like you're in a desperate spot if you're doing this.
I don't know. In the interviews, he sounds pretty confident about it. Like, hey, I didn't want to lose again. Let's just push.
I hope it works out for him. I could see it. I could see it going the other way. Like he— it doesn't work out and then he's just out of a couple million dollars.
Yeah.
Oh, you get fired and you're out 3 M's?
Yeah.
Mm-hmm. That would not be good. High risk, high reward though.
Yeah, I like it. I like the move. More guys should do it.

That's right.
Featuring Liam Blutman.
Starring Liam Blutman.
Starring Liam Blutman. We're going to talk a little ball. Brandon is here. He's nervous. He thinks that we have some type of— something's going to come like a— something's going to pop out of your seat like in Jackass.
A big Italian surprise is what he's worried about.
He's never not had a surprise.
Yeah, there's going to be an airbag that pops You just shoot you through the ceiling. There's going to be a big hand that comes out right behind, right behind you. No, there's no surprise. Just want to talk ball with Brandon. Where would you like to start, Brandon? Should we just at least admit that you were dead wrong about Oregon?
Oh yeah. Yeah, we can, we can start there. I will take that I was dead wrong about Oregon. It's 2 years in a row my national championship pick has bombed. I will say, raise your hand if you thought Oregon was going to not be good this year because they looked on paper like they were going to be incredible.
I'll also say this, uh, in your defense, the Oklahoma State game, uh, was very clearly— Oklahoma State had a tell. Yeah, they were— they knew exactly what was coming. Uh, that's a bad coaching job by Oregon. And then Dylan Rayola is just not a good quarterback.
He's terrible.
I think if Dante Moore plays that game, they probably win that game with the way that UCLA was playing on offense. But guess those excuses don't matter. Oregon season, I mean, I They could conceivably win it, win the rest of their games and still go.
Conceivably. But they got to go to Ohio State. Like, they just know it's not happening. And Dylan Raiola is the kind of bad— there is one thing to not be good. It's another thing to be outright bad. Outright bad hurts your team. And against UCLA, he was outright bad. And it's shocking because when he came against USC, he looked confident, he looked capable, and he looked like he was going to settle things down. He did the opposite.
Yeah.
And so then they have Nebraska next, right?
Yeah.
For Oregon. But he's in a QB competition.
Yeah.
And so this feels like if there was going to be any game that he'd be looking forward to, it'd be this one. It'd be this one. But on that same note, I feel like because he's probably had this game circled for so long, it would be the kind of game that he would absolutely shit the bed in.
Well, no, he might not play.
Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
Yeah.
I don't know how you would trust him.
It's going to be a competition. And if there's one game that would actually go against starting him in a competition, it would be this one.
It would be this one. I don't know how you trust him because he was so bad against UCLA. And now if you go into practice and he looks good, You've got to weigh the fact that, oh, he's playing his old team. He's going to freak out again.
Yeah.
I don't see any—
I don't.
And plus the future, the plan was to have him for the future. The plan was to sit him this year. He does the Dante Moore thing where he doesn't play. He learns a system and he comes in next year and he's your starter.
I don't—
I think that's probably out the window.
Yeah. So as much shit as we'll give you for Oregon, bad pick.
Sure.
Your second pick, you got Georgia in the second round. Now I forget if that was just like you got Oregon and Georgia back to back. Or if it went back and forth.
I don't— I believe I was the first overall pick and picked Oregon, and then I got Georgia on the comeback.
You got Georgia on the comeback.
Bad ball knowledge by Tom.
Good pick on your part.
Love Georgia.
I think they're fantastic. The defense— they haven't even really taken this defense out for a stroll yet. They had the one game the other night in the rain against Alabama, but this defense is going to choke everybody out, man. Chris Cole's incredible in the middle. The back end's incredible. They had some injuries and they still pretty much shut down Keelan Russell.
And did you think that anybody gets in trouble over leaking the locker room scream fest that Kirby Smart had? Or do you think Kirby Smart loves it?
Leaking it, huh? Yeah. Yeah, that's what we're doing.
That's what I'm wondering.
Yeah. No, that's, that's the pregame speech starring Kirby Smart every time they leak it.
Yeah. And Gunnar Stockton is just good.
He's good.
He did like— I know that he's not the flashiest name. And there's, you know, when they do the, oh my God, look how loaded this draft class is, which is starting to look a little iffy. Yeah. Gunnar Stockton is just really good. He, he's got like a dog mentality. He can hit open guy. He throws like he was throwing a couple seeds down the, down the seam. They have a couple fast guys. That tight end is, is, might be special. Like, I've liked Georgia since the beginning of the season. I think that they going into Alabama, that's the best win of the season.
So not to, not, not to, you know, give anybody credit here, but the star of the Brandon Walker College Football Show, Liam Blutman, last year in the season said whoever wins 2025 doesn't matter. Georgia's winning 2026 national title. And then to start the season, he said out of 135 teams, 132 of them they would beat by double digits. And I, I think he's right. Yeah, that's how good they are.
Yeah. Is he, is he an employee of the Brandon Walker Football Show or is he an employee of UCLA University?
He's an employee of Brandon Walker LLC.
Okay. Yeah, because he's been spending a lot of time with the Bruins.
Yeah, and it's starting to, it's starting to get on my nerves a little bit.
I think he might be sidelines.
I think he might be going out this weekend. I think UCLA told him he can do his postgame thing on Brandon Walker's show from the Rose Bowl field. They'll set him up. They'll put him in a little studio out there.
I like that you just referred to yourself in third person there.
Brandon Walker.
Yeah, but Liam Blubman could do his little thing on the Brandon Walker show.
That's not Brandon Walker. That's not technically third person. That's me. I'm referring to an entity there.
Yeah, but you should just say my show.
But how would you know?
Yeah, that's true. You have so many.
How would you know?
Yeah, you need to do something to separate yourself from the Brandon Walker football show.
Correct.
Like, establish your own idea. You know what should happen is, is Blutman should be forced to bring on Mikey Volcano.
What? In what, in what sense? In what way?
Like, as a guest, as a guest for the show. If he's going to spend that much time with UCLA, okay, let's get Mikey Volcano on the show.
All right, all right, fair enough.
Why is Max shaking his head?
What?
Mikey Volcano's got to come on this show.
Yeah, he's got to come on this show. Yeah, I would agree with that.
Hey, big guy. Shut the fuck up. Oh, I thought we were calling him big guy.
Yeah, yeah.
It's kind of weird.
Yeah, because I'm bigger than him.
And also, memes is just a mean guy to people.
Yeah.
Yeah. We need to get him on this show first.
Why is— why is memes allowed to be so mean?
He's really, really scary. And we're all worried that someday he'll just come up and shoot this whole place up. I'm not even that mean.
Yeah, but I'm worried.
Yeah, but you have an edge to you where we're like, hey, he could just kill us all one day.
You don't worry about— you don't worry about like Zach or something?
No, that's definitely not.
I don't know. I feel like Zach's got a— there's an evil streak in there that y'all haven't seen yet.
These guys are very judgmental.
No. How are we judgmental? You've been calling him little guy and him big guy.
That's the only reason I said it, Max.
Well, no. Yeah. Brandon would never be mean to a producer.
I'm not offended. Just saying.
All right. I can quickly.
Yes.
And I don't want to make too much of a big deal of it because it's a surprise. Got to play a game.
Yeah.
Everyone's just penciling UCLA into the playoff.
Yeah.
No, no, no.
They got a pretty big game this weekend.
They got a pretty big game.
I feel like a lot of people are overlooking that one.
Also, the thing about the Oregon game.
Yeah.
UCLA didn't play well either.
No, it was the worst top 25 big game that I've watched maybe ever.
And they're on their backup quarterback now, probably for the rest of the season. So like they're not, they're not home free by any stretch of the imagination. I was looking at it last night. Like the, the, if you consider Ohio State and Indiana into the playoff, basically. Who's the third team?
Is it Iowa?
Iowa looks pretty good for that spot. Wisconsin's in the mix for that spot. Northwestern's in the mix for that spot.
Northwestern's been awesome.
Nebraska's in the mix for that spot. There's a, there's a lot of teams are sitting there. It's going to be a bloodbath coming down the back half of the season in the Big Ten.
I, I do think that minus Nico is actually maybe a plus because Nico hasn't been good this year. They've been a good team.
They've been running and they haven't been winning on the strength of Nico at all.
Right.
It's like replacement quarterback, maybe equal to Nico.
But then you've, you're really, you're already on your backup quarterback. You play a physical style where you run the quarterback a lot. You're just, it's, it's just a dangerous spot.
Yeah. I have a feeling that Chesney is not going to take the, the long-term Signetti approach. If there's one young college football coach that I could see trying to become an NFL guy, it might be Chesney.
By the way, he's, he's not young. Did you, have you seen, I interviewed him yesterday. Have you guys interviewed him? Handsome devil. Just a handsome devil. And I saw the screenshot of me and him side by side yesterday. And I was looking at me and I was looking at him and back to me and back to him.
That's jarring.
He's 2 years older than I am.
Is he really?
Yeah.
And it was troubling because he looks so good.
He's 35?
He's 49.
By the way, UCLA has been an incredible story. Everyone talks about these coaches going to different schools and bringing their team. He didn't bring that much to JMU. I think the new thing is If you're a head coach, if you're looking for a new job, just look at the schedule.
Agreed.
It's crazy the runway you can get if you get a good schedule in one of these big conferences. And again, I think UCLA is very good. I'm not saying that it's all schedule, but what happened with Indiana the first year? They got a nice runway of like, hey, this thing is going to work. What happened with UCLA this year? They've got a nice runway of this thing's going to work. You show up and your schedule's bad. I mean, Ryan Silverfield, that guy got hot. I had to double-check. Yeah, because I was like, didn't he just get hired? He— he's, he's already being ran out of Arkansas.
I know, I know. Uh, and, and if you look at A&M, Elko in his second year— Elko, Elko walked in there with the easiest schedule in the SEC. Yeah, got to the playoff, and now the whole thing's falling apart, right?
How bad is it for Elko if he's openly referencing message boards during his press conference?
It is ridiculously bad. It's such an unforced error.
Plus, to be fair, that's, that's That's a powerful message board.
It is. So, so not only is he going after—
Explain it for people who are not tuned in.
So, so after Saturday's, after Saturday's game when they lost 27-6 at Missouri, they asked him, you know, what's going on? And he said, um, I, I'll listen to the rest of the fan base. I, I want the fan base to get behind us, but I'm not talking about Billy Cesspool over there. Billy Cesspool is Billy Lucci, who runs TexAgs, the number one fan site in America. Like, he has built something over there. TexAgs is huge. They have a gigantic base of givers, of donors, of everything that's in there. Tex-Sax. He basically took a torch to his entire fan base and said, either get behind us or fuck you. And you can't do that when you're struggling and you can't find a quarterback and you're getting whipped.
Who's typing right now?
I couldn't—
Tex-Sax?
He's just typing Tex-Sax.
Aggies.
No, Aggies. Tex A&M.
Oh, Tex-Ag.
Yeah.
sacks. Yeah, it's crazy. And then, yeah, I mean, so I, I actually think that's the thing is like when you're trying to find a new job.
Yeah.
Look at that schedule for the first 2 years. Well, you can then get the momentum and then get the— and again, it's not saying that Signetti's won a national title because the schedule is easy the first year. But I think the— I think the world we're in with college football is— it's as much transfer portal and NIL as it is just lopsided schedule year to year.
I really think schedule is one thing. Uh, us, when we're predicting the season, We don't look at it enough. Now, I tried it this year with Penn State, but then Penn State just has kind of fallen on their face. But yeah, schedule is so important in these huge gigantic conferences. It creates these avenues for teams to kind of slide into these bad schedules. And you might not know at the beginning of the year, because if you look last year, A&M schedule didn't look that easy, but South Carolina fell apart, LSU fell apart, and all these things. And now if you look at teams in the Big Ten, like with Oregon falling apart, that is, that is easing up some schedule concerns for a lot of teams.
Yeah.
And Penn State. Yeah.
Like, yeah, it's been bad.
So yeah, it definitely— it has a big, big factor.
That being said, if you had UCLA on the schedule to begin the year, you had that as a win. Yeah, you got to worry.
Also, their MVP this year is Wayne Knight, who's one of the best running backs in the—
yeah, he's incredible—
all of NCAA, who is a JMU guy. But he's at— I forget how many yards per carry, but it feels like every time I'm watching him in a game, he's averaging like 10 yards per carry.
He had that one game where it was 10 for 100, and I went back and looked, and he's been close to that every single Now at Oregon, he had to run a little bit more to get, to get the yards. I think he ended up with 103, but he's been fantastic. And this is a guy, not just a JMU guy, but a 4-year JMU guy.
Yeah.
Like he was there for a while. He didn't pop off at JMU till his last year.
Yeah. Yeah. Can we talk about— and I'm sure you're going to love talking about this.
I love it.
Yes. Lane Kiffin with an all-time blunder against Kentucky.
I don't know what happened to Lane, guys. You guys have talked to him a thousand times.
It's crazy. So just to set the stage for people who didn't watch the game, game. Kentucky at LSU— at Kentucky, LSU is -8.5. Uh, LSU, it's— they're up 3. The Kentucky kicker's missed 2 kicks. Yeah, LSU has the ball. I think it was like the 4th— they're on 43, 4th and 1 with a minute and a half left. Kentucky has no timeouts. Lane Kiffin punts.
If he gets it, the game is over. If he punts, Kentucky has a puncher's chance to come down the field, get a field goal. That's exactly what they do. 2, they force overtime, uh, LSU scores first, Kentucky scores, goes for 2, wins the game. Uh, Lane— I don't know why Lane Kiffin is being careful this year. I have no idea what happened to him. He is a guy that has flown by the seat of his pants the entire— his entire career at Ole Miss, at least that I've been seeing. He's going to go for it if it's 4th and 2, if it's 4th and 3, if it's anything reasonable like passes on 30. He's going for it and he's getting it. And he had his foot on their neck. Yeah, he took his foot off.
The whole point of having Lane Kiffin as your head coach is you win the games that way.
Yes. When the hell has Lane Kiffin been a take his foot off the throat guy? I, I, the only thing I can think of, he doesn't trust the offensive line and he doesn't trust the quarterback, but he, he's always trusted himself. I don't know why the fuck he did that.
Is there a difference between him coaching as a, like an underdog with no expectation and are limited expectations, I'll say, or, and him coaching at LSU being like the expectation is national championship. So it's like maybe he, he lacks that confidence to say fuck it. I'm gonna go for it.
Well, at Ole Miss, I mean, he was basically— he was kind of coaching with house money because he built all that, right? He built every single bit of it. At LSU, he has been given $40 million off the rip, and he has been entrusted with a team that's supposed to win a national title, but he doesn't have a national title quarterback, and he knows that. And I think it is affecting the way he coaches.
Yeah, it was— it was shocking though, because I was just like, this is why you have— Well, not only that, he should have probably gone for 2. Yeah, start overtime knowing Will Stein's gonna do it. Will Stein's been incredible. Will Stein, like, that's, that's been one of the best stories. He's an awesome coach. Kentucky's kind of rolling right now. That's another schedule one where it's like you looked at it like Texas A&M. That was sure, that was a lot easier game than you thought. But go for 2 knowing Will Stein's going to go for 2. He did it last week.
And not only that, Dan, the 2-point conversion itself, I mean, it was the most obvious quarterback draw you've ever seen. And Blake Baker, the defensive coordinator at LSU, He just lets them spread him out. Like, like they send out everybody and they spread all the way out. Now you got 4 guys in the box for 5 blockers. That's not going to work. And it was, it was kind of a coaching disaster there at the end for LSU.
Yeah.
Can we talk about Texas?
We can talk about whoever you guys want.
Let's talk Texas for a second.
Yep.
Disappointing game. I always think Red River, the shootout, the rivalry, whatever you're calling it. Yeah. It's big time Steelers-Ravens. throughout the record books. Yeah, because you'll see some ups. Now the down—
So Steelers-Ravens is your go-to throughout the record books rivalry?
That's the classic throughout the record books. I mean, there are other, I would say, bigger rivalries in sports. Yeah, but that's the one where it's like no love lost.
I just think it's crazy you have to go to the NFL to find one. You could just say Ohio State-Michigan. You can say any— there's, there's a lot of rivalries.
I think it's more bad blood.
Sure.
That's like more bad blood and it's real.
Ah, okay.
Like it infects every part of your life.
Okay.
But with the Red River Shootout, it's always— this might be a win that Oklahoma looks back at in a year or two and they're like, damn, I wish we'd lost that game. Because if you win this game as a head coach, it tends to forgive a lot of the shit that you did. Charlie Strong extended his career famously at Texas by winning some of these games that he shouldn't have won. But with this game in particular, how, how much does this scare you for Texas's future?
Scares the shit out of me if I'm a Texas fan, because all I know is if we show up and there's a good defense on the other side, a very good defense, I don't have the quarterback and I don't have the coach that's going to overcome it. And I thought I did. The only way Oklahoma was going to win this game— Oklahoma has a bad quarterback, a bad offense. They just can't do anything. John Moteer lost them the game at Michigan. He got them blown out against Georgia. And then he showed up and he didn't exactly lead them to victory here, but they needed a special teams touchdown. They needed a pick 6 and Arch gave them the pick 6. And then Arch gave them the interception with 19 seconds left to lose the game. Yeah. Is as inexcusable a throw. as you'll ever have in college football. And for whatever reason, he's in his 4th year. He's a 4th-year junior. Sark hasn't developed him and he has no instincts. And I don't know how a Manning doesn't have quarterback instincts.
Yeah.
Because he will, he'll drop back. He'll get fooled by coverage all the time. He'll throw it. He'll just flail it out there to a DB. Like it's just, there are moments when he's great. And then there are moments where you're like, this guy is not a quarterback.
And I'm, listen, I'm not rooting against him, but I'm out of— we can't do excuses anymore.
No, it's year 3.
You have an offensive wizard coach. You went and got Cam Coleman. There's nothing.
You have 5-star receivers at every single spot. Like, you have the most talent in the country.
It has to look better.
I don't, I don't, I don't get it because it's not like he never shows anything, right? He shows something sometimes and he'll show— the other day when he threw the pick 6, the next drive He was Joe Montana. It was bang, bang, bang, bang. And where does it go? I don't understand it. But Sark doesn't help him. Like Sark just stands over there and he doesn't— I don't think he plays to his strengths or plays against his weaknesses at all.
Yeah.
What if his last name was Iyamilava?
Oh, that'd be confusing. He doesn't look like an Iyamilava.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But would you ding him for that?
I don't— Iyamilava is such a cool name. If his name, if his last name was O'Shaughnessy, yeah, that's cool too.
If his last name was Fitzpatrick, if he was Ryan Fitzpatrick, Art Fitzpatrick, I think we'd look at this and be like, he's going to have a career just like his old man. That's great.
We'd be pretty comfortable with him just being like a high 3-star guy. Yeah. If it's Fitzpatrick.
I think there's a chance he goes back.
I think there's a huge chance he goes back. But here's the thing.
He might not get better. There's no guarantee he gets better.
There's— everybody says he's going back, he's going back. That's fine. He can go back, but show me the proof he or Texas will get better because of it.
Yeah. I mean, he's in pretty much the perfect situation for a quarterback, right?
I can't imagine a better one.
He's got an outstanding defense that could be good enough to carry them for like despite his play, but he can't be throwing interceptions in the last 30 seconds of a game.
If he doesn't make a mistake, if he doesn't make a catastrophic— 2 catastrophic mistakes, they win that game easily the other day.
Yep. Uh, okay, what else are we gonna hit? Oh, the SEC is just—
listen, mid.
I don't know if it's—
you guys are just pumping each other up because every single— Florida wins one big game and now is the, is the best team in the world.
This guy didn't fall for that. Okay, this guy didn't fall for that. I, I said pump the brakes on Florida as soon as they beat Ole Miss. Ole Miss's resume is not great.
Why is Tennessee ranked 14?
Tennessee should not be ranked. Tennessee shouldn't be ranked at all. Tennessee doesn't have a quarterback. Yeah, figure out— they've tried to play both. They don't have a quarterback. They went to Arkansas, almost lost that game. Like, even Tennessee, a rational Tennessee fan if they exist, would sit here and say, yeah, we're not the number 4.
Why is LSU 22?
Yeah, it— listen, there's, there's a lot of— I, I will say there's some inherent SEC bias in the rankings. I got no problem with that. But also, who do you replace them with? Do you replace them with Purdue? Do you replace them with— like, I don't know the answer to that.
could.
Their offense—
Yeah, 3-3 though. Like, they're, they're like one, they're one overtime loss away, forced away from 4-2. Like, there's good teams across this country. Some don't— like, should Nebraska be ranked right now? Maybe. They haven't beaten anybody either. So we're half—
Wisconsin.
We have, uh, we have half a story. I do think the SEC conveyor belt of excellence this year has been a little bit wonky. When LSU beat Clemson, we all crowned them, right? We all said this, that, And then Ole Miss beat them. So Ole Miss goes up to that spot. Now they're number 6 in the country, number 5 in the country, whatever it is. Florida beats them, they go up there. It's just, yeah, it's just been one week. And now everybody's in love with Missouri because they've beaten Florida and A&M back to back and they're not that good.
Who does Missouri have next week?
Missouri plays this week. Who's it? Who's Missouri play this week? Ole Miss.
So Ole Miss this week.
Yeah, they got Ole Miss this week.
That's the team that's going to win this week.
I think Ole Miss is going to beat Missouri. Yeah, pretty confident. Comfortably too.
Okay.
All right.
What about, what about Bama? You had a funeral for Alabama last time.
Oh man, we found our tweet.
Week 1.
Your quote.
What? I don't know what you're talking about.
You said that, I think Kalen DeBoer, what was the quote mean?
I said you should go back to Greenville, Alabama.
Listen, I kill teams twice a year.
Yeah, it was like, it was something like they sucked all the toughness out of this program.
I think it was, but it was like a funeral for the entire Florida State.
Yeah, well, that was true. They laid down against Florida State. They laid down against Indiana, you know, this year they do look a little bit tougher. They look more physical. They stood up a little bit to Georgia. I thought Georgia, I thought Georgia dominated that game a little bit more than a 3-point victory, but still it was—
Yeah, I mean, that was a bad pass. The pass interference was a miss. That was a pass.
That was, yeah, it was absolutely a pass.
Like the Alabama guy and Kellen DeBoer yelling at his player, like I kind of liked it.
Of course.
No, I'm saying like that's the toughness that you said they lack. He's kind of showing a little fire.
I've got no issue. Now, I didn't really love him saying, you cost us the fucking game.
Well, he did.
Well, I mean, they— I think that game was pretty much lost at that point.
Well, but they had already gotten the first down because of the pass.
They had already gotten them and they had no timeouts. Like, they were gonna— if they got the ball back, it's gonna be with 10 seconds left.
Is that a man that's feeling the pressure of a hot seat?
No, no, Caleb DeBoer's not on a hot seat. I, I think Caleb— I think Alabama's in a great spot to finish 11-1. Um, I think at Baton Rouge is probably their toughest test yet, and, and we'll see if Lane's able to put something together in the back half of the schedule. But I don't think he's on the hot seat. I don't, I don't think there's any concerns about Kalen DeBoer right now. But as soon as there are, I'll be there. Yeah, call him dead again. What about—
we, we have talked about this, uh, you and I on, on our other shows that we've done, but the, the, the Big 12's a mess. We talked about on College Football Show last week. I don't— I do not trust Texas Tech. Yeah, I do. Like, their offense does not look like—
You trust BYU?
I do not trust BYU. I kind of like Houston. I kind of like Utah's running game. I kind of like Baylor.
There's elements to like about everybody.
I don't know what to do.
Like, there's elements to like about Oklahoma State, but they were also down like 14-nothing to UCF immediately.
And also, by the way, there might be 2 Big 12 teams to get in the playoffs. Yeah, well, it— I'm just saying, I'm just stating. how it's all shaking out, if the, if the Big Ten cannibalizes itself on that 3rd spot.
Yeah.
And the SEC cannibalizes, like, the Big 12 could have 2 teams.
Yeah, I like Baylor a lot. Baylor's one goal line tackle on a 2-point conversion from being undefeated and being like number 13 right now. And instead they're— I don't, I don't even know if they're— I don't think they're—
no, they're not right.
Yeah, I— but I, I think they're pretty good. They went out to the desert and just whipped Arizona State. Like, I think they're okay. And DJ Lagway is playing average football, which if you bring in DJ Lagway and you say you're our quarterback, you're hoping for average football. You can win games like that.
Yeah, yeah.
The, the, uh, it's just like everyone kind of— but I thought with Baylor is that they have to play all 3, whereas like Texas Tech and, and BYU don't. Like Baylor has to finish at BYU, Texas Tech, at Houston. I don't think they're gonna go through that.
It feels to me like we're gonna all year, we're gonna kind of scratch our heads, we're gonna wonder, we're gonna gnash our teeth, and at the end Texas just going to be sitting there, right?
And I'm not going to be impressed by them.
Yeah. And I'm not saying they're good. I just say I think they're going to be the survivor of this. Yeah.
Yeah. Houston, I think, is the other— yeah. I mean, they have a big game against Utah. That Houston-Utah game will be like a big who's deciding it.
What are we thinking about Indiana this year? I know a lot of people are saying it's, it's underwhelming. It doesn't look like it did last year. I will say that that game that they had this past week, that looked a lot like the Indiana-Iowa game. In 2025.
Yeah, maybe. But the only thing is last year when it looked like that, what they had was a recipe where their defensive line was going to bludgeon you to death. Their, their running game was going to bludgeon you to death and the quarterback would make the plays in the 4th quarter and you'd lose the game. Well, this year they can't really run it like that. They didn't run it like that against Nebraska and their defensive line was giving up what they were getting gashed in the first half. Like, I just think at the line of scrimmage, they're not as strong as they were last year and they're not like Like, did they win close games last year? Yes. But it was because of they never let opponents breathe. They let Nebraska breathe the entire game and Nebraska kind of just choked on their own vomit at the end. But like, it just doesn't look the same as it looked. They're not dominating at the line of scrimmage like they did.
Yeah.
But it's a different— they do have now they have a guy who where they play a B- or C+ game, they got a guy like Nick Marsh who can make 2 plays, win the game for you. Yep.
He's special. And Charlie Beck.
And Charlie B. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Saban and Kirby Smart have always had these teams where they've got such overwhelming individual talent that even if they come out against a Vanderbilt or an Arkansas and they're asleep in the 3rd quarter, Julio Jones or somebody, some George Pickens, some freak makes a play and they just, they can't lose. And I feel like Indiana's kind of got that right now.
Yeah.
I got a question for you.
Yeah.
I'm going to give you A blind resume. I'm going to do 3 teams that can win the national championship, and then I'm going to do another team that has 3 wins that can win the national championship.
Oh boy.
And you tell me which roster is stronger.
Okay.
Team A has Oregon, Georgia, and Texas. Team B—
Wait, I'm picking a tranche?
Yeah. The teams have tranche universities. So Team A Yeah, yeah. Team A, their roster of universities includes Oregon, Georgia.
That's Tranche 1.
And Texas.
Okay. All right.
Okay.
Oregon, Georgia, Texas.
And then Tranche 2.
Is Tranche a word?
AKA Team B. Yeah. Learn finance.
Wow.
Jesus Christ.
He's never seen The Big Short.
Someone didn't go through the 2008 market crash.
You didn't see The Big Short. That's okay.
Oh, man.
Yeah.
Were you putting your head in the sand there?
Brandon thinks that subprime is the type of beef he gets at a buffet. And then Team B, Tranche 2. has Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Miami. Are you taking tranche 1 or 2?
We haven't matched Notre Dame and Miami because they have not played a single opponent until they play themselves. Yeah, Miami, Miami is not like— you could, you could tell me every week just a fake Miami score. I'd be like, sure. Like, you'd be like, oh yeah, Miami, Miami played Pitt this week, they won by 30. Okay, cool. I didn't see it. Uh, I'm going to take Tronch B.
It's got to be Tronch B.
Yeah, I, I, I— Georgia's my national title pick. Yeah, but you just have more depth in Tronch B with Ohio State, Notre Dame. I do not believe in Texas.
Tronch B was—
and Oregon's dead.
Tronch B was Tom Frenelli.
Got it.
Tronch A was— oh man, did you honestly not know that, Bren?
Man, well, he doesn't know what Tronch is.
You just, you just waddled right in that one, you guy.
I didn't waddle. Yeah, you did. You waddled. Wait, am I a big guy now?
Brandon Waddle. That's what they're calling you.
No, I— Waddle. Waddle, waddle, waddle.
That playoff, that playoff race isn't won by the, by tranche A and B. It's won in the, in the tranches. It's won—
No, you don't know what tranche is.
It's won in the, it's won in the, it's won in the tranches past, uh, the 6th spot. All right. It's won by your 7th, 8th, and 9th team that makes it. Okay. It's not won by your, by your marquee draft picks. Although Texas is still going to make the playoff and, uh, Georgia is going to win the national title.
Okay.
What do you want me to do?
Okay, Bray, can you just give me a big picture, um, look at the realignment that JMU is going through, going to the American, which was just announced yesterday, leaving the Sun Belt in a couple years, going to the American Conference, which seems like it is now solidly the best non-power conference in America?
I think it has been the best non-power, and now adding JMU is going to be even better. I, I said this to Blutman last night, he, he scoffed. There will be years where the American is almost as good as the Big 12, or at least maybe on par with the Big 12. Like, if you look at it right now, like, the Big 12's okay, but the American's going to have these years where they're really, really, really— especially when, when Tulane gets right and Memphis is, is up and then JMU's up. Like, it's going to be a very good league.
Yeah.
Big picture, what does that mean for—
Oh, the big picture to me is not what JMU looks like in the American, it's what's the second move after that.
ACC.
Is it the ACC?
Yeah.
Like, are we 10 years—
Is the ACC still around?
Are we 10 years away from JMU in the Yeah, I think yes, but I think there's also a good chance that the ACC in 10 years looks a lot like the American— or the Sun Belt does now.
So the ACC comes down to—
Well, yeah, because Miami and Florida State and them are going to try to—
They're going to go to the SEC or the Big Ten or—
yeah.
So it's good. We're going to end up probably with 2 power conferences, even though that new bill is trying to limit that if it gets passed.
Do you have any thoughts on the new bill? You want to say— you want to stump for the new bill?
I don't. I don't. I don't get into that new bill shit. Yeah, no new bills here. We can talk about— we can talk about the games and the quarterbacks and I I can be wrong on a lot of shit, but I'm not getting into the Bills and shit. I'm not reading all this.
We do the old Bills. UNC, not bad.
UNC, annoyingly competent.
Old Bills.
And they play Duke this week. Duke kind of took the air out of their sails by losing to Georgia Tech.
Usually Belichick does that.
That's kind of a sneaky little fascinating game. There's some— this week, there's some sneaky rivalry games that are just high, like Kansas-Kansas State. That one we just mentioned, Auburn, Georgia. Like, there's just some games that are off the radar. Yeah, there's some games off the radar. Well, yeah, we got some health concerns that I don't think are going to come out our way. So yeah.
What's the issue with Kamario?
He needs to eat a mushroom.
Turf toe.
Oh no.
Yeah.
Super Kamario.
Some guy hit by a blue shell.
Some really tough turf toe.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
He's little right now.
Yeah.
He's really tiny.
He's awesome.
He's incredible. And if we have to sacrifice an LSU game to get him right and then start rolling again, that would be— yeah, that's what we're going to sacrifice.
Zach, finish us off. Roback question. RHOback.com, promo code TAKE, 20% off your first purchase. Q-zips, polos, hoodies, joggers, shorts. Roback.com, promo code TAKE.
I did have a quick question.
Hey, Zach.
What's up, Brandon? How are you, man?
Good. How are you?
Not too bad. It's a great day today.
You look good.
I mean, I'm just trying to keep up with you, Brandon. You look great as ever.
Thank you.
Hairline kind of nice today.
Thank you.
With Mississippi State's kind of margin of victory fading throughout the season so far, is there a— where's your head at for the rest of the season?
What does that even mean?
That's a good question.
Well, no, he's right. You guys were winning and then you were losing.
But isn't that just getting into the meat of your schedule and the opponents get tougher every time? Because we— I can't remember even who we opened with, UL Monroe, but then we beat the brakes off Minnesota in Minnesota. Sure, but we played South Carolina on the road, beat them by 7 or something, right?
And then you beat—
then we beat Missouri by 7, who's number 7, uh, number 12 team in the country now, right?
And then you lost. It's diminishing.
Yeah, but I think you just told me that Missouri was going to lose to Ole Miss.
They are, uh, but the teams are— the teams are getting better, that's all. We're just getting in the meat of our schedule. We have one of the toughest schedules in the country.
Yeah, no, uh, Max— or Zach is, uh, dead wrong. I'm just gonna defend Zach here because you're going at You won the first game by 49.
Sure.
You won the second game by 25.
Sure.
You won the third game by 7. You won the fourth game by 7. Then you lost the, the, the fifth game by about a billion. So Zach is right. The margin of victory has, has been diminishing.
Well, I would say it hasn't because the last 2 margins of victories are the same and the last one wasn't a victory. So that doesn't count towards margins of victory.
If there's a, if there's a graph.
Sure.
Straight down.
Right. But we played Alabama. We played the Alabama Crimson Tide.
You didn't talk about the— did you say anything about who they're playing? You just said—
Not a word. Just math.
I guess to repeat the sentence.
I guess to answer your question, Zach.
What was the question?
I'm not concerned with it because we're going to get Kamario healthy again. He's going to get the mushrooms, going to get big and we're going to be, we're going to be good.
Follow-up.
Yeah.
I thought he only got one.
No, no, he can follow up. He always gets— he's unlimited follow-ups.
What loving home would you like to see Kamario Taylor go to next year?
That's a bad question. We've said— we've been on record. You should do a cowbell drive. Yeah, you should make a Camario cowbell.
But also credit to Zach for asking the hard questions.
Yeah, no, he's not going.
No, no, credit to Zach.
He loves Mississippi State. He grew up in Knoxby County. You ever been to Knoxby County?
Do you?
Beautiful place.
Brandon, can I ask you a question?
Max, are you telling him to say no? I figure he knows to say no.
No, I'm saying I've never been there.
Okay. Yes. You're gonna ask me a question?
Do you think he loves Mississippi State more than he loves $20 million?
I believe Mississippi State has the money on hand to, uh, to have Kamario in a Mississippi State uniform for life.
$20 million for life? So he's not even gonna go to the NFL?
No, no, no, no, no, he's gonna go to the NFL, but he will be— I, I've heard from other coaches on campus that the best recruiter in Starkville is Kamario Taylor. That when they bring in recruits, they, you know, other—
Is that illegal?
Other sports? No, it's not illegal.
He's not—
other sports, they, they love Kamario, and, and Kamario convinces them to come to Mississippi State. Yes, he loves Mississippi State.
You, you grew up in what county?
I grew up in Clay County, West Point, Mississippi. Yes, which is one county north of Knox County.
Okay, uh, but you, you never left Mississippi either?
Oh well, For money and opportunity.
Here's the thing.
We're actually doing the show right now.
What do we have a meeting?
What do we have a meeting about every 6 months?
Yeah.
You come into my office. You're like, I got to go.
I want to go home. Yes. Please let me go home. And you say, let's go now. And you say, relax. And I say, okay. And every 6 months I go in there and say, please let me go home.
So you better hope that there's a me in Mississippi State when Kamario says, We got, we got news. Yeah, but when Kamario goes into my virtual office at Mississippi State and says, I gotta go get that money.
Yeah, just relax. Say, hey, relax, relax. We got you here. We got you. Stay here. Mississippi State's got plenty of money. I'm not worried about it. Uh, we're gonna build around him next year and we're gonna be a national title contender.
I think this right here is a case in point. They should show this conversation to Kamario, like, hey, you can leave for more money, but you're always going to want to go back.
You're going to be a bitter, miserable old man.
Yeah.
And also surrounded by assholes.
I am rooting for Kamario to stay and then be good in the NFL because God knows Dak Prescott sucks.
Dak Prescott obviously does not suck. No, he's got— had a bad game the other day, I will give you that. And the stadium workers are calling him embarrassing. It's a rough scene over there.
He got so mad and then he realized, oh shit, if I go after this guy, it's probably gonna be the Daytona parking lot all again.
Today it wasn't Daytona, Panama City, and that was multiple guys. It was like 30 guys.
Yeah.
He got that guy fired.
Did he? I don't think he got that guy fired. That's what I think.
The camera—
that's what I just read right now on Yahoo Sports. It was embarrassing. Michael Irvin lashes out at Dak Prescott for getting Cowboys employee fired.
So Michael Irvin doubled down on the embarrassing.
Yeah. Michael Irvin says Dak Prescott's conduct has embarrassed the Dallas Cowboys.
Oh, Michael Irvin said that. Michael Irvin said that. Okay. Michael Irvin said that. Yeah.
Fine. All right.
I love Michael Irvin just not giving a fuck. Yeah, I know what they're going to say.
They had a house for strippers. Yes. Seems like it was awesome.
That's actually pretty cool. Yeah. You think that's embarrassing?
That's not embarrassing.
No, but I'm just saying, when you're talking about conduct, I mean, like, come on. What are we doing?
But that's actually what the Cowboys are known for. It's like strippers, coke.
Yeah.
Winning.
It'd be embarrassing if they're the big 3.
Getting, getting subordinates fired.
Yeah.
Completely.
I don't think he got them. I don't think he walked in Jerry Jones' office and said, fire this person. I think the camera guy who caught it got him fired.
Uh, Brandon, you live in Milwaukee now.
Um, yes.
Are you rooting for the Brewers? You got the jacket on.
Uh, I'm a Braves fan. Uh, they have zero ties to Milwaukee, but I, I, yeah, I like the Brewers and this is a sick jacket.
It says more about the jacket.
It's not a great jacket.
It's a sick jacket. It's a good looking jacket.
Sick?
It's a sick jacket.
Is it? Is this right now? Can we point at this moment and say this is the peak of the Milwaukee Brewers season? The fact that Brandon Walker is now wearing a jacket.
Sick.
No, no.
Sick jacket. Thank you. Representing them.
National Sports Podcast.
Zach, help me out.
Is this the It's a sick jacket.
It— I like the full embroidery on the chest.
I'll say it's a jacket.
I, I'm also— I'm rooting for the Brewers, but I fear that right now what you're doing is jinxing them.
You will tell me it's a sick jacket.
I'll say that's a— I like the embroidery up front.
It's a good jacket. Give me a sick jacket.
I want to go back to— you're a Brewers fan.
What?
Why?
No, I'm not.
You've been to more Brewers fans in the past 5 years than you've been to Braves or Braves.
I live here. All right, Max, turn off your mic.
All right, you're a Brewers fan.
The vibe of the question was We went too deep on the bench to try to try to bully Brandon there.
You're a Brewers fan.
I, I've been to 25 Brewers games over the last 10 years.
That's what I'm saying. You can't be like, I'm not a Brewers fan, if you go to 25 games.
I just think we gotta just—
And you're wearing merch during the playoffs. You're a Brewers fan. You're not a Braves fan.
It's also not that sick of a jacket.
The jacket's fine.
It's fine.
It's not sick.
It's just the Brewers have a good logo.
It's a good— it's a sick logo.
Yeah, anything that they, they have is a sick logo on my jacket.
Good job with the logo.
go. It's imminent. I just fear that you're, you're jinxing him right now.
I'm not jinxing.
That would be a shame. Can we just stop with the fucking jinxes everywhere I go? Mississippi State, can we stop? Alabama, because of you.
Wrestling, Good Morning Sunshine. Hey, Milwaukee Brewers.
All right, all right, we'll see you, Brandon. Thank you as always.

Okay, we now welcome on a very, very special guest, our good friend Bill Burr in studio. It's been a while. He's got a new movie out, Social Reckoning. Aaron Sorkin.
Yes.
Movie. So I wanted to ask—
Small part.
I wanted to ask a question about that.
It's Aaron's movie. Yeah.
When you're reading an Aaron Sorkin script, I mean, that he's known for how sharp And he doesn't waste any words. And the dialogue is just, you know, it's almost like watching like a good, uh, like flyweight boxing match where it's like punch, punch, punch, you know, nonstop. When you're doing the lines, if you throw in an um by accident, is he like, what are you doing? Come on, cut.
No, no, no. That's all, that's all that stuff that people like invent that happens. Like, what the fuck? There was a comma there. Like, that doesn't happen. No, if it's a good take, it's a good take.
But it is so— I'm sure reading it, you have a feel.
It's not necessary to add, because like you said, there's no fat on it. So you would just be slowing it down, I guess. But there was a couple times I threw in some extra words and he came in and he was just, hey, you said blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. I like that. That was good. Do that again. And it was just like, I kind of, you know, then you gotta remember what you did or whatever.
Yeah, that ruins it for me. I wish it was more, hey, Bill, you added an extra word. If you ever do that again, I'll kill your whole family.
I know, but that's what everybody wants a movie set to be. And somebody's locked themselves in.
Keanu Russell, yeah.
Yeah, and they refuse to come out and then they throw a phone at somebody. And it's just like, that's the stuff that always makes the news. But it's what it really is, is like, dude, it's already gonna be a 12 to 14 hour day. Like, let's not make it a 16-hour day. So everybody knows that. So, you know, if, if, if, you know, I guess if— I mean, I've been really lucky. I've only a couple of times worked with, you know, somebody that had an issue and like, it's just like, oh my God. Like, you know, it's like if you were at the DMV and somebody goes, you know, we're gonna add another 3 hours to this.
Right.
It's like, you're gonna come out eventually and then we're just gonna have to do this shit. So just come out and do it.
Right, right.
Let's, let's get outta here.
You, you realize like day one, oh, it's going to be that kind of shoot. And then you just kind of look around, well, I guess I'm doing it, so I can't go anywhere. The premise of the movie is fascinating to me. Did you go back? Did you like learn a lot about Facebook and Zuckerberg and the board battles and all that stuff before you started acting in it?
Yeah, no, I did. I did look into kind of like, you know, like that. The way I watch sports is I just look at the players. And like the crazy people to me, the ones that know the GM and the ownership and stuff like that. So I just was on Facebook like everybody for a while and then moved on to something else. But I never got into the whole, you know, the behind the scenes. And like most people, I learned a lot of it with the first one. So this one is not a sequel. I've been told I gotta say it's a companion piece. So it's not like—
Oh!
Well, it's not like this happened and it's not—
I didn't even know companion piece was a—
It's not Rambo 2.
Okay.
Does that put it in your world?
Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's fair.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, Wayne's World 2.
So this is kind of like— the first thing was like how it started, and this one is a separate thing where it's like this has been the result of like social media just in general, because probably none of them have been really good for us. So, um, examines like, you know, cyberbullying and get kids killing themselves because of it. And, uh, oh, some light topics. The depression. Well, I mean, what are you supposed to do, ignore it?
I can't fight you. No, you can't. I mean, uh, Toy Story 5 had it all in there. Kids on their iPads. Oh yeah, yeah.
Toy Story is, is kind of like without— it's— that's a rough one. Yeah, that's psycho in the big— the first one, like, like destroying the toys reminded me of every older kid that beat the shit out of me. Yeah. And then that piece of shit that like had the, the toy store and he took them and he was shipping them off. Very like sex trafficking. Yeah, you know, sort of undertones.
Toy Story 5 was like, uh, the girl getting like bullied in a clique like with friends online and stuff. And I was like, damn, this is—
yeah.
And my 7 and 5-year-old are like, we love the movie. They didn't understand any of it. Yeah, but that's— I was like, this is making me kind of bummed out.
So like Ice Age.
Yeah. Hey, let's take the kids to this.
Yeah. Fuck global warming.
Yeah.
But wait, so you can't get away from it.
Well, you're not going to get an escape on this one either.
Right, right. You're like, oh, the kids love it, but they don't see what I'm seeing. So this has all that because, I mean, it is It's hard to think about, but I mean, the internet, we joke about it. Our job is to be on the internet, but there's many days we're like, this was maybe a bad idea.
Yeah, no, it wasn't. We should all maybe try to get off of it. I think that in the future, once they bring the robots in, the only way to protest will be peacefully. So we'll have to all collectively somehow get on the same page and be like, we're going to be off the internet for 10 days if you guys don't knock it off with these robots. We're going to get off off our phones or something.
Well, we won't be able to hold— they'll call our bluff.
Well, I don't get this shit where they're going like, AI could kill us.
It's like, well, that was, you know, that was like a machine.
It's in like, it's not like, is that because the robots are going to be AI?
No, that was an entire, uh, uh, op by, by the AI companies. And I, I will say I'm not an expert.
Well, no, I'm waiting. Are you in on these meetings?
No, I, I saw one Instagram reel where the woman made a very compelling case. And I've now gone around and told everyone this is what's happening as it is fact. So all—
Because it's on the internet.
Because I saw it.
And there's no rules of libel.
Essentially, essentially, this might have been an AI character that—
but no, but this made a lot of sense. You could, you could tell me if this is crazy, but essentially all of these AI companies have gone way over their skis. They've taken a ton of money in. They've created this thing that doesn't actually have any use for them.
Oh, that's the word that I learned that I loved. Exit capital.
Yes. Right. So they don't, they don't have any—
Even if this tanks, I still get $50 million. They don't They don't have any—
like, there's nothing that they're actually going to do. They've created all this. They've reached these new frontiers or whatever they call it. And they don't have like a use for it. And so now they've taken all this money in. They don't have a way to make money.
So they're just trying to scare us.
So the— so the guy who did the whistleblowing was part of it where he basically was like, oh yeah, they're going to kill all of us. Now they're asking for the government to step in to regulate it so they can turn around to their investors and be like, listen, we were about to make so much money, but the government regulated us. Now we can't make any money.
So it has a happy ending. I like that.
They're also trying—
I'm choosing to believe. I like that one better.
Simultaneously, they're also asking the government to be like, hey, can we just look the other way on monopoly laws so that we can all work together and then make all the money?
Uh, I work for Live Nation.
I'm familiar.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. But this is— no, this is— I saw it and I was like, you know what, I like this more than AI's gonna kill us. So I'm just gonna go with this. Yeah, some good old like abusive capitalism.
That's what I like about the internet. You have options on what narrative. Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna, I'm gonna believe the one that makes me feel okay.
And the best part is it was literally like this entire thing that I just said was because I was, uh, like many, uh, people in America, I was laying in bed, uh, next to my wife and she like 2 feet away from me sent, texted me an Instagram reel that then I watched. You know what I mean? When you're sitting right next to each other, they send each other—
I have rules on that. I'm like, dude, this is like a 2 in the afternoon text. texts. I can't before my coffee and eggs fucking have my eyebrows up like this reading this shit. But I will say the internet is wildly misleading just as far as touring around.
It's not real.
It isn't, dude. I went to Battle Creek, Michigan last night. I'd never been there. One of my favorite crowds, and I could not have been more different than them. It's like they're known for military bases there, farmers and all of that type of stuff. They all got like flannels on, and it's not because they're into Pearl Jam, it's because they actually work for a fucking living.
Yeah.
And I went up there, could not have been any different than them, and they were just such a fun crowd. Like, I was like, hey, you know, I go, this is beautiful out here, and they were just going like, yeah, right, right. And it was one of those things where they could shit on where they were from, but if I did, they would come at me. So there was this great like back and forth, and they had had this really great sense of humor or whatever. And I don't know, I have fun with— I mean, I can go there and have a good time and I can go to a really conservative place or an insufferably liberal place and still have fun.
Mm-hmm.
And as long as I don't come up there thinking you know everything and you respect them and you're just joking around, all of that stupid shit goes away. Yeah. And you have a good time.
And also, face is a lot different. And then like, it's kind of like if you're in a car, if you're in a car and you're in traffic, you, you hate the car in front of you. If they like cut in front of you, like, what the fuck?
Oh, and you also have a black belt in every discipline you never took.
Right.
It's like, fucking pull over.
When we're in these little boxes that we travel around and we get pissed off at people that are in their little box that like changes into our lane, doesn't give us a thank you wave, doesn't let us in, whatever the case may be. When you're online, you're in your little box and like, I think people just get get— they're way more likely to get mad than if they're not, than if they're, you know, face to face, if they're outside that box. Like, because people— the road rage happens because people go insane when they're not actually talking to somebody. They just have these characters in their brain of somebody that they're pissed off at. But then you get face to face, it turns out like 90% of people are, are very cool and you can get along with almost everyone. Yeah.
Also, sometimes I think the road rage has nothing to do with the guy cutting it off. It's probably something that happened at home.
100%.
Yes. Oh yeah, for sure. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Face to face, it's like everyone's nice.
Yeah.
So that's kind of what I feel like. Everybody's cool. And then the AI people, politicians, 24-hour news networks, they're presenting like the whole— everybody's head is on fire. And like, I know it's probably not a good thing, but I had to kind of stop watching news like almost a decade ago. 'Cause I like, this is like driving me insane because they're all saying all this crazy shit and there's no solution. It's like your wife's sending you that text. Look what AI's gonna do. Oh, well, where can we go? What can we do? And then like, you just, I, yeah, no.
But all the people in Battle Creek who went out to your show, like those aren't people who are online like commenting on everything and getting in fights on Twitter and—
Oh yeah, no, it was very like Trumpy and N-word adjacent. But I was able to kind of find a lane in there.
But the real world, The world is like, that's—
hey, I'm all—
Not everybody, but you know, you bring up certain topics and then you feel— but like, I'm not just shitting on conservative crowds because liberal crowds drive me nuts because they pretend like they care about everything. Like I said something about midgets the other day and I was at Largo, Cornyn, and they're all like, ah! I go, stop acting like you all have a dwarf friend that you gotta stick up for.
We actually do. We have a dwarf friend.
Yeah, you don't care.
Bring Zod in.
Yeah, Zod, get in here.
Say that to— I'd like to hear you say that to Zod's face.
Well, let me remember what the joke was.
He's also African American, if you'd like to make fun of that.
What was the joke?
We got you on that one.
Yeah.
No, I was improving.
I was really—
I remember what it was. What the fuck was I talking about? I remember the ending, and once I remember the ending, I can't remember the beginning because my brain works like linear.
It is weird though with the AI companies trying to scare us because I think everybody— everybody thinks that they're so special that the world is going to end while they're alive. It goes back thousands of years. Everyone's like, oh, doomsday's coming. I'm, I'm telling you guys, yeah, this is the end times. This is the end of everything.
And every generation thinks— And then if you become an old guy, you got to tell everybody they missed all the good times. Yeah, yeah, you don't realize it. Like, right now there's going to be kids who are alive right now in 2050 telling kids that they missed the 2020s. Like, this is it.
It's like, it was the best, the best music, the best—
yeah, yeah. It's like, they're young, they're having a good time. Just let them have a good time. Stop telling them they missed the '80s.
Yeah.
Oh dude, the '90s, man. You fucking— oh, the '90s.
It's always like the best time was when you were 13.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's when the world was at its peak.
Yeah.
Yeah. That was it. Basically it.
All right. So what do you got? What's pissing you off? You haven't called me in a while about something that you watched on sports. I guess now football season's coming back.
Oh, I always have like, yeah, like 2 or 3 times.
Yeah. Just a voice memo from you being like, I can't stand these, when a defensive back, the ball gets thrown 20 yards out of the field.
Oh my God. That will, I'll take that to my grave. The underthrown Yeah. And the wide receiver stops and fights his way through the defensive back.
Yeah.
And you reward the quarterback for a shit throw and a first down.
Um, I got, I got one for you.
I'll tell you what's, what's been driving me nuts is the, the— is Drake Maye a fraud?
It's like, oh no, no, it's a valid question.
Oh Jesus.
He's gotta be.
So what was last year? Last year was like a fluke?
I can go through the schedule real quick that he played last year. The Raiders. I think, I think he played the Browns like 4 times last year.
Yeah, that's— can I tell you what? That's some ball-watching shit. Our problem is our offensive line. We can't run the ball either.
Right.
We can't throw, we can't fucking run. And then what happens? We have 3-and-outs, and then our defense has to keep coming out, and by the 3rd quarter they're fucking tired, and then you have an ugly game like you do against Jacksonville. We beat Pittsburgh, we were competitive against Seattle. Seattle fucking destroyed us in the Super Bowl. And if you look at like—
This interview is coming out next week, so you better hope that he looks good against the Bills.
What? My status as a football fan is revoked?
Ball knower card. We'll have to take away your card.
Here's another thing too. Like, I don't know if anybody looked up this stat. There is no fucking way any team who turned over the ball the amount of times we did in the playoffs made it to a Super Bowl.
You're probably right about that.
We turned the ball over 5 times against Houston and they turned it over 6 times. Then we played the Broncos. Bo Nix was out. We fucking backed our way into this. We sort of overachieved. It's like— It's like the divisional round of the playoffs. These guys are like shaking up champagne. It's like, dude, this is a money grab by MLB. Like Tony Kornheiser's going like, the Yankees, Red Sox, it's not what it used to be. It's like, dude, it's a 2nd and 3rd place team shaking up champagne because they were 7, 8 games out of 1st and they made the playoffs. Like, what the fuck are we doing here? Like, let's wait till like, not even, you know, the next round it starts to get good.
I guess you're getting the hate back.
No, but until then— no, it's for Tony Kornheiser being lazy.
No, I mean, we were talking about it on today's show. Like, I don't know what the solution is, but it did— I mean, the Cubs were in— the Cubs basically weren't in the playoffs. They played 2 games and they were, they were trailing in 17 of the 18 innings, and I didn't cheer once. And it was just like, well, that sucked, you know what I mean? That wasn't even the playoffs. Like, what?
Well, the 3rd place team isn't ready to be there. Like, the Red Sox are going in the right direction. Our first half was horrific. We had a magical July. And then we kind of came down to— settled kind of where we were in September. Win some, lose some.
Yeah.
And then somehow we're shaking up champagne going to the playoffs as a 3rd-place team. It's just to make— it's to add games, more money. That's all that is. But like, you know, it's like the September games in college football. At this point, you're paying the kids. I don't want to see Alabama playing Arapahoe Community College.
Yeah, no, you— I wish they had more of the—
yeah, let's just start fucking playing from Yeah.
Yeah.
I agree.
Because it's over by Thanksgiving. It's so short and you dick around for the first 3 weeks. It's annoying.
We're already like a third of the way through the season and it's like that. By the way, I have one for baseball for you, which drives me nuts now. The guys, and maybe it's just, it's going to take a couple of years for them to get used to it. But guys who are walking, getting like, they're at the plate, they strike out and then they're arguing with the ump and it's like, dude, Dude, you could do something about this now. Just challenge the call. Yeah, they'll, they'll argue balls and strikes.
That's what I don't like about it.
I'm like, dude, do something about it. Tap your fucking head.
I know, but then they have like the irrefutable evidence, so there's no more arguing and all of that stuff.
Yeah, well, tennis swings now, still, you could still argue.
That's most of the conversations that are had on baseball is arguments. Yeah, we're getting less of those. And but there was a cool moment in the Braves series. The Braves won on a walk-off.
Phillies.
Oh yeah, the Phillies-Braves series. The Phillies won on a walk-off ABS check. Yes, that was electric. They checked it and the Braves struck out and there was like a 15-second pause.
What is ABS?
It's the, uh, system. It's the replay system.
I actually don't know what it stands for.
Automatic Ball Strike.
There we go, that makes sense.
I don't know, but there was a moment, it was like 10 seconds, that, uh, we all sat and we waited, like when they bring the chain out onto the field.
Oh yeah.
And so you're waiting to see what the final result and they show the pitch come in and it's an electric moment because it's like a new play that you get to watch and react to. Yeah, it was a pretty cool way to end the game.
You did mention, I mean, we've had this take for a long time that when people say robot umps and do everything with, you know, the Skycam and all that stuff, you would take like 50% of guys' conversations away from them. Like, if we can't—
There's no more death threats on umpires.
Yeah, we can't blame— if we can't blame humans and we have to actually say our team was worse than the other team and have to come to grips with like, oh, our team might suck.
We—
it wasn't the fact that we got screwed. That would ruin everyone's brain. Like, we can't handle that.
Right. Well, here's how I would fix the NBA basketball, because it just looks like a shootaround to me. Like, I don't want to watch a 6-foot-11 guy taking 23-pointers. So this is what I would do. I would get rid of the defensive 3-second rule.
Okay.
The guy can stand down there again. I get rid of the 3-point line. Until the final 2 minutes of each quarter, then it lights up, then you can take your 3s.
Okay.
And we get back to fucking pick and rolls, give and goes, and backdoor passes, and actually dunking on somebody.
Yeah.
Instead of everybody clearing out of the lane if they're even in there because they don't want to end up on Instagram, and then watching the guy yelling like he's in 300. It's like, you dunked on nobody.
Yeah.
You dunked on nobody.
I like, I like it. Get your ass in the post, get— learn a couple moves.
Well, they took away 80% of the fucking game.
Yeah.
No, you're right.
Steph Curry—
So I went to my first WNBA game. You know, I got a daughter, so I took her out to that. We had— it was, dude, it was a fucking great time. And the shootaround looked like an NBA shootaround. They were fucking hitting their shots. The game, it kind of, you know, that it's not as accurate, but the same thing was the first quarter. It's a perimeter game. They're both ice cold and they just keep launching 3-pointers because of analytics. It's like, what's wrong with the 12-footer?
Yeah, just get to the yellow line. Doing the layup counts as 2.
And also, I know, 29.3 feet out, you get 1 extra point. How about a fucking layup? And then the last one that I get you with is the 2-point conversion. Everybody psychologically thinks it's easy because it's only 2 points. It's like, no, you have to score back-to-back touchdowns.
Yeah.
Just kick the fucking extra point.
When you put it that way, that is— I also like that you unironically just did the the, you know, I went to a WNBA game because I have a daughter.
No, but here's the thing, I fucking loved it. They, they hate each other.
Yeah, no, there's real fucking—
There's less flopping. No, it's a good— dude, Angel Reese is fucking hilarious. They just closed somebody out and she was waving goodbye to him, but she was like a wrestling heel. Yeah, I was like, oh my God, Mike, I kind of like this.
Caitlin Clark gets like assaulted every game and it just becomes like a big story.
Oh, give me a fucking break.
She got smoked in the face last night.
But that's what's supposed to happen.
I agree.
If you come into the rookie— if you come in as a rookie and you're making more than all the veterans, Yeah. That's how it always worked in guys' sports.
That's how you develop a storyline too. It's like if that happens in the NBA, you get her personal enforcer on the team that stands up for her. You're the Robert Horry to the Michael Jordan. You get bad blood that develops over the years, like with the Bad Boy Pistons. Like, that's how sports is supposed to evolve. The difference is we're incapable of having a sane conversation about the WNBA.
Correct.
Nobody has made any sense for the past 3 years about the WNBA.
way.
And it's driving me crazy to see people talk about it.
It's a kind of a nice-kept secret. It's actually— it's competitive and it's fun, and they fucking hate each other. They hate each other, dude. It's kind of like—
and the best part is they don't— they won't admit they hate each other. I love that shit when they do like the player voting for All-Stars and Caitlin Clark ends up being like the 7th, uh, voted player. And, and it's like, you— it's like, you guys hate her. You just did like a Survivor vote and you voted her the island.
I'm finding myself when I'm turning the channels, if it's on, I'm watching it. Yeah, it's, it's—
I watched the whole game last night.
It's a good time.
I would love to see basketball, WNBA in particular, but, but NBA too, adopt the hockey rules and just let them fight. 2 guys square up, fight, that's fine.
Shake hands. Can I tell you something? The chest bumping is enough for me. I always get concerned about their titties.
I'm just like, how?
That just looked like you wouldn't go ball bag to ball bag. Maybe we should. That should be the—
can you imagine that though? If, if you had like 2 enforcers on an NBA team just square off center court?
I don't think we need that.
1-minute fight.
Just a couple fights.
In hockey is fine.
I know, but that's what makes it special.
It's part of it.
That is true.
Yeah.
Yeah. And then everybody— I always love it. You got to get the hockey out of— you got to get the heart— you got to get the fighting out of hockey. It's like, well, then don't we need to get it out of boxing? Because that's all they do.
Yeah.
No, that's the sweet science.
Also, how are you gonna— how are you gonna turn around a season if you can't if you're in hockey. How do you turn around a game?
There was a great book my buddy Joe Bartnik, amazing comedian, gave to me. It was The Rules of Enforcers. And there's so many fights that are avoided. This guy was saying sometimes they just skate out onto the ice, at least the old days, and the enforcer would come out there and he would just say out loud to nobody but to everybody, hey man, things better settle down out here or somebody could get hurt. And people would be like, all right, Dad's home. And everybody would kind of settle down. It didn't always have to be that way, But, you know, like, there's like ebbs and flows with like— I think the golden age of enforcers and goal scorers was the '80s where you had, you know, the Jay Millers, the Chris Nylunds, the Proberts, and then you had Yzerman, Lemieux, and Gretzky and all of those. It was kind of like, you know, we'll never see— I mean, Patrick Roy kind of ruined the sports when when, when he took goaltending to the next level. Yeah, because if you look at those, the reason why guys were scoring like, you know, uh, you know, defensemen could score like 30, 40 goals, they were stand-up goaltenders.
They would just stand there.
They would never butterfly.
Yeah, kick their leg out. But once he came down and did that— I'm not shitting on Patrick Roy. I mean, the guy literally changed the position like a Lawrence Taylor. But like, it— the great ones also kind of hurt the game.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
They started to get soft and the goalies started wearing masks too.
Yeah, true.
No, what happened there was they curved the stick and then the puck started coming up and that's why they needed the mask.
The fighting thing is so funny. We are, you know, Spitting Chiclets, the guys, they do best hockey podcasts out there. But Biz was obviously a fighter and he— we ask him like every now and then, like, what was it like? He's like, we just skate up next to a guy and just be like, you want one? And then next thing you know, they're just trying to kill each other. Like a simple, like, friendly, like, oh, you want to have a go today?
Yeah.
They're just like, I'm going to try to bash your brains in. And it's just such a funny concept.
Yeah. Most of those guys, they're really like nice, chill.
He's the nicest guy in the world.
And like, you shake their hand, it's like, it's like a bear paw.
Yeah.
You're like, he would do anything for anyone.
He has more meat on his hand than I have in my torso.
Yeah.
It's like they're wearing a boxing mitt. Like, those guys are just like, like built for it.
Yeah. I got to ask you a little bit about the Dodgers because you— I'm sure some of your friends are Dodgers fans. They are ruining baseball.
Well, I mean, I think they're following the tradition of ruining baseball.
Yeah.
I mean, you got to go back to George Steinbrenner was— that was his thing, going out and buying everybody else's stars. And then the Red Sox followed them over the waterfall of that because no one was stopping them. So you had to fight fire with fire. So there's always been teams doing that. But I can't logically get myself, 'cause I'm a Red Sox fan. It was funny to me to see the Yankees and Dodgers in the World Series and see the Dodgers make the Yankees look like a mom-and-pop store.
Yeah.
There was something funny about that to me to see like, oh, look at somebody who's got deeper pockets. But I heard they're like a startup though, or not a startup, a private equity. So they just have endless amounts of funds.
Maybe, maybe, maybe. We don't know. Maybe their owner, he was the owner of the, uh, or he's the owner of the Lakers that just sold.
Oh, he's been moving money around and trying to—
but you make a good point.
It's been a whole thing.
You guys are like all the President's Men of fucking sports. I love it.
Well, that's the thing.
You can tell us front office.
You could tell like all the politics, political wars, wars and stuff. And I'm just like, I'm just not going to talk about that. And they're like, did you know the Dodgers might've been cheating? I'm like, let me read 100 pages. about this, please. So yeah, they, they could be cheating.
It is interesting.
Big time.
It's very— because did you hear what happened with Lakers? Like, why he's being investigated, why he sold the team?
He sold the team in 9 months, Bill.
He made $2 billion profit.
He owned the team for 9 months.
This feels like an Aaron Sorkin movie.
No, I swear.
All right, I did it.
Yeah, Bill, sit down. We're trying to talk to you right now. You got on— Slow down.
I'm an old fella now. Slow down. Okay, so he sold it in 9 months because what What he— something was coming.
Bought it, sold it. He was 9 months because it's a flip.
He flipped it because he's under investigation and Department of Justice looking into his finances.
Department of Justice is like, hey, you have just been reporting this all wrong. You have to like come up with billions of dollars in liquid by the end of the year.
He was taking—
so he started just selling everything.
He ran like insurance and financial services companies. That's where he made his money. And he was taking some of the money that was coming in allegedly that should be marked as being, uh, safe investments only for like life insurance payouts, stuff like that. You have to take care of those funds in a way that doesn't put your investors' money at risk.
It's—
they're like very serious about that. But allegedly he was taking that money and then funneling that to the Lakers, to the Dodgers, to his other businesses.
To get players?
Sometimes. And sometimes to make up for shortfalls in cash or to invest into the growth of—
This sounds like a Ponzi scheme.
And then he would pay back the funds that were marked— that should have been marked as safe investments only for his, like, for all the insurance investors out there.
If you're doing shit like that, can you imagine when your head hits the pillow that night? How do you get to sleep?
Right.
And they're going like, all right, if I move this over.
Yeah, yeah.
Sign this fucking—
Yeah.
So he sold— he sold the Lakers $2 billion profit in one year for owning the team, which is crazy. That money is now going to—
He made $2 billion. It increased in value that much.
Well, that's the other question is, did it really increase in value that much? much, or did the people that bought the team from him agree, we're going to pay a premium so you can get out of this investigation?
Guys, this is feeling like a limited series to me. Oh yeah, I think you guys ought to start shooting.
Let me tell you about Manchester City soccer. That, that's a whole new ball of wax over there.
Well, I heard, I heard that like private equity is slowly infiltrating sports. I think this is like sort of the, the end of of, uh, you know, I don't know, like, like sports for the longest time has, has just gone in a bad direction. Like all these new stadiums were complete horseshit. That whole bullshit of like, in order to compete, you guys need to spend a billion dollars of your tax money to buy me a stadium. It was just to increase the value of the league and their teams.
Yeah, we need the luxury suites to compete.
The fucking Green Bay Packers have been playing in the same dump for 100 years. They won 4 Super Bowls and like 11 NFL It has nothing to do with the stadium.
No, this is the Bears.
This is what I'm going through with the Bears where it's like, oh, we need a new stadium. No, no, no. The other owners want you to make a new stadium so that the Bears go up so they go up. That's all.
And you already did.
Yeah.
You already ruined a monument here.
Upgraded Soldier Field. Yeah.
Yeah.
And what now? What's the problem?
Exactly like what you just said. Every single NFL owner is looking at the McCaskills. They're like, like, get yourself a new stadium so that the Bears go from $8 billion to $9 billion, and then the Panthers now go from $3 to $4. You know what I mean? That's all they want. They want everyone to go up.
So why do we have to pay for it?
It's ridiculous.
Because we have no lives.
Yeah, because, because guess what?
Because that's what I always do.
Did you have us by the balls?
They set them too deep on this one.
The, the NFL, we, we—
you know why? Because they know we're not—
what are we going to walk Yeah, dude, the NFL, we joke about it, right?
Start reading.
They're putting games on Wednesdays and Tuesdays, and it's like, we'll be like, oh man, like, why are they doing this? They're making Sunday not special. It's like, but guess what I'm gonna watch?
No, I refuse.
You refuse?
No, because the NCAA's doing that. What do you mean? Northwestern-Penn State's tonight. Friday night.
New stadium, by the way.
Yeah, Friday Night Lights. Yeah, it's high school football.
They needed that to compete.
I'm not doing that. If I'm gonna watch football on Friday, it's gonna be some sort of local broadcast of a high school game. I watch college football.
You're a stronger man than me.
Saturday, I'm watching. Like, listen, I'm not gonna lie to you, I do— I watch the Sunday NFL. I do watch Monday Night Football. I grew up with it. Thursday, I'm a little touch and go.
What about the Wednesday before Thanksgiving that they're gonna do this year?
Because I have Thursday off? Yeah, I could probably make an excuse.
Yeah, okay, there you go. Yeah, you're gonna move some things around so you can watch Wednesday night, Thursday, and Friday Thanksgiving.
I'm not saying my opinions are bedrock here, but I, I'll do what I—
everything's fluid.
It depends on the matchup.
We remain fluid.
Fluid.
Yeah.
Well, the Thursday game, my, my, my, my gambling tip last year was that if it was a Thursday game and it was a division rivalry and the spread was north of 3.5, you take the underdog.
Yeah.
Because it's a, you know, it's a simplistic—
Browns last night.
Game plan. Yeah.
Yeah.
You just take that and it's always, oh, did that have— fuck, I should have taken it this weekend. Yeah.
The Browns won outright. I think they were 2.5 underdogs, but yeah.
I hit that like Like a couple of weeks in a row and I was like, I finally found the system and then I got burned.
Yeah. I mean, do you know how many times I've found a system?
I know.
I did it. I found this.
I know you're going up against mathletes and with computers.
Yeah.
Well, we got a guy that just does weather. He's obsessed with weather. So he gives out like one pick at a time. He doesn't bet the entire board, but he's just obsessed with— he'll do like his own forecast. And he'll say, okay, there's going to be more wind.
Because big meteorology is lying to us.
Yeah, they're in on it.
Yeah.
He'll be like, he'll be like, yeah, there's going to be more wind in Pensacola than they're scheduling right now. So we got to take this like Division II school to have an under.
And so what is he— is he looking at like pie reps or something like that?
I don't ask too many questions.
No idea. We just take it.
But it works. He's like 9-1.
Mm-hmm. No, he lost last night because then I came in this morning. I was like, what the fuck happened last night?
I was laughing until I heard 9-1.
Yeah, exactly.
Yeah.
Yeah, he's good.
Not only is he— he's 10-2 now. Not only is he 10-2, but—
You can pitch all of these shows to streaming services. A Beautiful Mind meets meteorology and sports gambling.
He was, he was, uh, he was 9-1 when Dave and I found out about him, and we hopped on at 9— or 8-1. Do you know how hard it is to be 8-1 and then have Dave Portnoy and myself take the next pick and actually win? Like, that's impossible. That's never happened.
Oh, you won?
We won the next pick. Yeah, he lost last night, but we won the next, like, couple in a row. So yeah, he's special. But it— but last night he said the, the storm itself, uh, quickened up in Tulsa, and I was like, you know what, I don't actually want an excuse.
Dude, I still think one of the funniest fucking videos I ever saw was that one where Dave Portnoy was with that guy Eddie, and he was going to win that bet.
Oh, the blackjack?
Yeah, because, because, like, Dave was, like, building the tension. I don't want goes, he goes, Eddie! Like it was—
yeah, yeah, yeah, you lost it all. You lost it all.
And then the silence of it. And then when he like fucking keeled over and started laughing, but he was still a friend going, I'm sorry, that's a bad beat. That was my favorite. Yeah, like that one, that one. And then that shirtless guy betting the horses doing that snap.
Oh, Elio!
Oh my God.
Oh no, that's not Elio, but Elio has those. But yes, yeah, yeah, I know who you're talking about.
The shirtless guy in the That one, the top 3 gambling videos is the Portnoy Eddie one, the gambling guy, and then, then the dude miming the horse, beating his own ass.
The horse guy's with the program. Yeah, the OTB is a long-lost place where it's just like, that's where you can really see the guys, you know.
That is just full-on analog people. Oh, like they have square TVs in their house, alarm clocks. Yeah, like they, they, yes, they got like, you know, landlines. Like they just Everything moved on and they are just where they're at.
They're reading magazines.
They've got the lighter in their car, the cigarette lighter, the plug-in. Remember that? They put it in cars.
Oh yeah.
No, I actually—
the coils.
Dude, they had one I saw the other day. I love old cars and I saw they had something that was actually— not only was it an ashtray, it had like a vacuum. So you attach to it. Well, you would set your cigarette in there and it would, it would suck in the ashes so it wouldn't get on your suit or whatever.
That's awesome. We have— I bought an old 1994 conversion van and it has a vacuum like in the back attached to it. It's like this used to be a premier feature.
Like new cars, they're pieces of shit and there's surveillance and all they're doing is like they listening to you. They're like talking. My wife has a car like that. It's just like, I'll be talking to my wife for like 20 minutes. And all of a sudden a voice comes on. I'm sorry, I didn't understand that. It's just like, who the fuck is that? What is going on? So I drive, I drive. Yeah, I drive only old shit, old cars.
Yeah. I was listening to something you were talking about. How often are you eating mushrooms now? Or is that just a one-time thing?
No, I only do mushrooms like once every year and a half.
So is it so like, you're actually using it as a, I'm trying to figure out what's going on in my life, not I'm going to a concert and trying to go to the moon?
Yeah, no, I only, I only did mushrooms. I did mushrooms at a Billy Joel concert and it just was not—
Yeah, that's a— that's interesting.
Well, the dude told me it was going to be like a body high and it went beyond that. And then it just got to the point of like, I got to get the fuck out of here. And I turned around and there was like 60,000 like worm people and I was like, oh my God.
Oh man.
And it's just like, you fucking asshole. But I mean, I tripped before, so I was able to kind of like I didn't freak out, but it wasn't a good time. But no, I had a breakthrough with my anger. I can get angry because anger is an emotion, but I don't bring 50 years with me anymore. I kind of—
That's awesome.
Well, I figured something out through acting. I would have weird emotions that I would experience that had nothing to do with the scene. And when I finally figured out what it was, was I had walled off most of my emotions. But if I was in a movie and I had to play an emotion that I had walled off, I got to open the vault and shit would come out. So I was like, oh, so I need to kind of keep this door open. And then I had this woman, this breathwork massage thing. And then that was the thing that just brought me over. I got all of this anger out, cried out for like 90 minutes, my whole childhood.
And then I don't know.
Damn.
So wait, you're getting a massage, and is this related to— are you taking mushrooms during the massage or completely separate?
No, but I would say I felt like I was tripping at one point on the— on like this— they say the right side's your anger and the left side was your sadness. So the sadness one was I went back to this town that I couldn't remember names of kids, streets, or whatever. And I was in my head, I was like, well, I was like 3 and we moved away and that's why I couldn't remember it. And then like I got older, I was like, no, I was I should remember this shit. A bunch of fucked up shit happened. And all of a sudden, dude, it was like I was driving in a car and I went back there.
Damn.
As me rescuing little me.
Holy shit.
And not on anything. And dude, I got up off the table and it was just like I felt like £20 fucking lighter.
And, uh, crazy.
Uh, your breath. Yeah, but you got it. The thing is, you got to get someone that— it's like anything. Like, there's a bunch of sports shows. How many good sports shows are there? There's a bunch of— you got to get something. And then you also have to be ready. I had kind of bottomed out with this every time something little happened, going to the fucking moon with it. And it was a lot on my wife and everyone around me. And it was almost like being an alcoholic and being just like, this isn't fun anymore. I can't drink anymore. I got that place emotionally. Yeah, it's kind of amazing. Yeah, it does sound amazing. But then I gotta like beat myself up, you know, not beat myself up that it took me, you know, it was last year when I was 57. I'm 58 now, but it took me 57 years. And dude, what fucking kills me is all the shit that I thought that I buried. I thought that shit was— I put that mentally out in the middle of Pacific Ocean, dude. It was fucking right there like, hey man, yeah, when are you gonna deal with this shit?
So That's incredible.
Yeah.
I mean, why would you beat yourself up for having it take so long? The fact that you did it, I would say most people—
Because that's what you get conditioned to do.
Yeah, I know, but most people never do it, you know what I mean? They never actually try to face that stuff.
Well, you know, it's a good way of looking at it. That's number 2. First the AI and now that. Yeah, I like this show.
Did it make you better?
I feel all right, huh?
Did it make you better as an actor? Imagine.
Yeah. And I also think I figured it out on that Facebook thing, and then it kind of gave me like a direction to go. And then it just kind of all fell like dominoes after like, I don't know, 30 years of going in and out of therapy and failing. Like the whole thing just toppled and like, it was really almost like anticlimactic. Remember like when the Berlin Wall finally came down, you're like, oh, that was it.
Oh, the Cold War's over.
Yeah.
Okay. Yeah.
That's it.
And then, oh, I guess we're all gonna get along. Nope. Right back to something new.
Yeah.
Yeah, so yeah, it has been different. And it actually, it's helped out my standup. Like all the myths of standup of like, you know, don't be happy, don't do this. It's all bullshit. It's like, you know, you get to just sort of look at the world now with like a different point of view, which makes it fresh for you. So you'll be happy. And like, dude, like last night, some of the shit I was saying, I don't even remember what I was talking about, but I was just like— It was crazy shit, but it was light. And back in the day when I would say crazy shit, if I was in a bad mood, it would come off in a different way. And I would come off stage and I would feel bad and I would feel like, oh God, I don't want to be saying this shit. And if I was making fun of women, it went from playful to misogynistic really fast, like a lot of my earlier shit. And it was just something you got to go through if that's the kind of upbringing you had to. And then you gravitate to other toxic people.
You're fucking toxic. It all seems normal. You think you're in the fucking middle and you're like 900 miles that way. All of that shit that's obvious when you say it out loud, it was just sort of like, yeah, I'm really happy that I was able to get to the other side of that shit.
That's awesome.
All right.
So everyone, one last question. Zach's going to do it. So if you want to put on the headphones— oh, Zach's in the booth. Everyone go see the movie.
This isn't the dwarf, is it? I've been waiting for him to come in for 45 minutes.
We will.
I will find— probably somewhere around here right now. All right. Go see the movie, The Social Reckoning. We're going to run this on the day that it comes out. So, oh, it's out. It's out when you're listening to this right now.
And yeah, go out to the movies, man. Get out of the house.
Hell yes.
And you'll also, if Drake Maye throws like 4 interceptions against the Bills on Sunday, you can also laugh at Bill for that.
Well, I remember 3, 3, 4 games in last year, I didn't think we were ever going to go to the Super Bowl. And then we did.
Yeah.
You know, and it's also like, dude, we won.
We do that to the beginning of the season every year. Every year we do the same thing.
We had like a 20, 25-year run straight across the board. 6 Super Bowls, 4 World Series, 2 NBA titles, and a Stanley Cup. Cup. I'm good. I can deal with a couple of tough games.
The dap-ups. That's what Hank said when he was talking to me.
We signed AJ Brown. He immediately went down. You know, we're going through it. Sometimes it happens later in the season. Sometimes it happens in the beginning. But sportswriters are inherently quitters. So they project that onto teams like, oh, what are you going to— is it time to hit the panic button?
Yeah.
Well, we do it on this show. We We, we say, I think we're smart enough to know that we're doing this because we say it out loud after like week 1. We're like, hey, don't overreact to week 1, but we're going to do 3 hours overreacting. So buckle up.
Yeah.
But then we overreact and it's self-deprecating. I can listen to a show like that when somebody is actually serious.
Yeah. Yeah. If I'm the owner of the Patriots, I am really concerned.
And just like, are you? Well, you're not the owner.
No. If you ask us if a team's good or not, it's literally just what happened the last week. Like, the Browns are going to the Super Bowl because we watched the game last night. Oh yeah, they're the last team to play.
I watched game 2 of the Rams and then the first half of the Broncos, and I'm like, oh, these guys are clearly the Super Bowl favorite. Played with my kids, and then 2 days later, I'm like, the Rams lost?
Yeah, you never saw it, so it doesn't count.
Yeah.
All right, Rhoback question. Rhoback.com, promo code TAKE, 20% off your first purchase. Q-zips, polos, hoodies, joggers, shorts. Rhoback.com, promo code TAKE. Go ahead, Zach.
Yes, sir. Uh, uh, sorry, quick question. We, we have heard you voice characters in the Grand Theft Auto franchise previously with San Andreas. Are we going to hear you on GTA 6 anytime?
Um, I have not gotten a call, but like, that was Grand Theft Auto 3 was the last time I had a PlayStation, and it had so consumed my life that like, I, I, I would think about the game when I was walking around going down to do a spot. So one night Because somebody else hooked it up. I'm really bad at like hooking those things up. I came home and before I could think of it again, I just unplugged everything, wrapped it up and stuck it in the back of my closet. And I, I've never— I haven't had a home system since then.
Okay. You're like Mike Tomlin with Minecraft. Did you see that?
No.
Oh my God, Bill. I actually— it's good that you're not online. Mike Tomlin—
You play Minecraft? Are you familiar with Minecraft?
My kid has the backpack.
Okay.
I know you build your city and you're fighting people.
Yeah. Uh, former coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, you know, 19 years. He is now on NBC.
The owners, they're relationship people.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, big time. So, uh, Mike Tomlin revealed that— so when his kids were young, they got into Minecraft. Mike Tomlin got into Minecraft with them to relate to them, to have a hobby. The kids grew up. Mike Tomlin never grew out of Minecraft. He created— he's been creating a city for 15 years.
Oh my God.
He, he debuted on YouTube. You can look at right there the other night. He has a city that built— it's like 3,000 hours. This guy has just been building a city quietly, block by block, every single week, just been sitting down. It's one of the funniest stories. It was one of my favorite videos I've ever watched. He's going through each building being like, I got really into interior design here. I really like the glass ceiling.
buildings.
Like, it's insane.
I bet it was a nice comedown to the stress of being a head coach.
Exactly, exactly.
I got one for you, the analog version of that.
Yeah?
There's a guy that built all of New York City building by building.
Oh, I've seen this guy.
And it's in a museum right now.
Yes.
He like built it by hand. Like, I love all of that. Like, this is like—
Look at this. He built the entire— he built like high-rises and he kept on talking. He's like, I really was, you know, you know, thinking, uh, that I wanted to be intentional about how I had this—
Did he force out small businesses in any part of it? Did he get to that level where it was like that real?
That would be funny if he— if that— because he kept teasing. He's like, this is the baseball stadium, we're gonna do this next week. So he— there's like multiple episodes of this.
Yeah, he, he was very conscious about what amenities he would put in his luxury apartments as opposed to the ones that were not luxury.
Incredible.
Only on the top floors.
High-rise looking over the baseball stadium so you can watch the baseball game.
And we were saying that I would imagine some Steelers fans watch this and be like, you were fucking doing this when we couldn't, you know, we couldn't win a playoff game for the last 10 years. But it's pretty impressive. I'll send you—
did he put a blue bottle next to a mom-and-pop coffee place? Dude, that is amazing.
Incredible.
So yeah, I like that he— that this is his city and he didn't just slap it together, that he actually knows. No, he was about the whole thing.
Very intentional about it.
Thought about it.
Like, what's the name of This—
it's just Mike Tomlin. I'll send you the link.
Mike Tomlin, rooftops, penthouses, and urban living.
He kept on talking about the urban density of his city and how he wanted to be intentional about the spaces.
And that's a little Frank Lloyd Wright. Am I crazy?
A little bit.
It might be.
Yeah. I don't know if he's done with it, if he's still adding on to it.
I think he is. I think it's an ever-living thing. He's got Trump Tower.
He said he made a Trump Tower, but he wanted to be very clear that he, he put that up in 2015 before he became president. He was like, this is not an endorsement. This is just a Trump Tower.
That's what I like people who hate Donald Trump and they stand out and they, they'd like pro— like one time, one of the times, like 2018, I stayed at the Trump Hotel and there was people protesting Donald Trump outside of it. It's like, dude, he's not in here.
Yeah, is he home? Let us in.
He's a brand and they've bought the brand and they put his name on. He's not here talking about what kind of drapes they're gonna put.
Yeah, but it would be funny if like they rang a doorbell and he did come He comes out with a broom and he's like, you got a complaint?
Well, I didn't vote for him either, but like, they were giving us so much shit going in and out of it, we started like trolling him. We just started chanting, 4 more years! And then it happened. Oh God.
Oh man.
All right, well, Bill, you're the best. Uh, you—
your tour—
you have a never-ending tour.
No, I got the kids now, so like, I— this is my last like run here.
Okay.
I go to New York, uh, And we have the premiere for the movie that's coming out today on this thing. And then I come back and I'm off for the rest of the year. And then I got a movie coming up that I'm trying to get your talents in on.
Yeah.
That's going to be at the beginning of the year. But even that one, I made sure I scheduled it so I would be around for my daughter's birthday. So I just make all— I saw one time Eddie Murphy said that if you put your kids first, you'll never make a bad decision. So all I think about On my deathbed, I'm not going to be thinking like, oh man, I pretended to be a cop in that movie. That was awesome. I'm going to be thinking about, I was there for their birthdays. I made them a cake. I taught them how to ride a bike. And like, my daughter just started playing Little League baseball and just watching her play shortstop and making a play was just, it was better than anything I've ever done in this business. It's the best. Oh, it's the best. It's the best.
It's hard to do, but you're right. I had to pass up Family Feud. Barstool was on Family Feud and it was my daughter's birthday, and I was like, can't do it.
You made the right call.
I don't know, Steve Harvey's the man.
I think it turned out okay.
We got— I know he got zero points.
No, I did make the right call.
All-time record for—
Dude, but this is when you know you're the dumbest guy, is when you're the last person on the Family Feud. Yeah, like I said, there's always at least— you got 3, 4 smart people in your family. Yeah, then you just got that shithead. Yeah, and then, and you gotta stay— have some dumb answer, and there's always that awkward pause, and then they go Good answer. Good answer.
He also got— he always is wearing the thing that, you know, he just bought. Like, it's like a purple, uh, button-down with a tie that he got from like, you know, Kohl's. And you're just like, yeah, he didn't— he didn't have anything to wear.
Yeah, he put on 20 or £30 since he bought whatever the— whatever he's wearing. Yeah. Well, thank you guys for having me.
You're the best.
Social Reckoning. Yes. Uh, incredible actors. It was one of my favorite gigs I, I've ever done. And, uh, I think it's a great movie. So go check it out if you got the time. I'd appreciate it.
Yes, absolutely. Thanks, Bill.
All right, thanks for having me.
Bill Burr was brought to you by Shell. I'm going to be honest, I don't usually get excited about loyalty programs. They promise big rewards and then it's like you actually have to eat 48 pizzas to get one free. So when I heard about the Shell Fuel Rewards program, I was skeptical. Shocking, I know. But here's the thing, it's kind of annoyingly practical. You're already getting gas, you're already grabbing takeout, you're already buying snacks that you definitely didn't need, But absolutely deserve. With Shell Fuel Rewards, you just get rewarded for that, and not in a fake points you'll never use way. It's actual savings on gas. And the part that got me— the savings stack. So it's not like one sad little discount. It's you fill up, you eat, you shop, and it all piles up into real savings at the pump. Joining takes less than 3 minutes in the Shell app, and you'll save on every fill after that. Literally every single one. So if you want my rec, join the Shell Fuel Rewards program and save. Join the Shell Fuel Rewards program today and save at the pump.
Okay, what do we got, guys on chicks? Yeah, I got a real quick Tuesday reading for us. Wednesday reading. This is from John Machoda. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones this morning on W105.3 The Fan sharing one of his greatest memories from his trips to Green Bay. Jerry says, after the game against the Packers maybe 25 years ago, all my grandchildren were very small, 4 or 5 years And I had a car full of them. It was so cold. We won, and as we left the stadium, we were in a long, big car, and I saw this lady headed toward the car. She comes up beside the car running. She was so upset as a Green Bay fan. She was pretty hefty, and she turns around and pulls it all down and just plants it right up against the window. Everybody inside was in shock and couldn't believe it. And then her skin stuck to the window, it was so cold. When she pulled away, there was just a big print sitting there on the side of that car. There are about 10 or 11 of us in the car and we can still see it today.
Love when Jerry just gets going on a story.
That's a great story. Great story.
Also, calling someone pretty hefty is like trying to be nice about it and being like, that's a fat ass. You know what I mean?
Yeah.
It's like saying like, well, it's an important part of the story too.
You want to know how big the print is. A pretty hefty print.
Yeah. But that, that's like in the back of your head, you're, you're, you're slowing yourself down. You'd be like, I don't want to call this person a fat ass. Let me call him pretty hefty. It's like pretty hefty.
It's big gal.
It's fat. It's fat. Very fat. Pretty hefty. Okay, ready, Hank?
That is a stain on my Super Bowl window.
Go, Hank.
Hey, boys, I need your help. I have a crush on the bartender who works at my local sports bar. I go very often, so I don't want to make anything stupid that would make me too embarrassed or ruin my neighborhood bar for me that I love. Do I play the long game? Just go for it. I don't have many sports bars in my area, so it's crucial we think this through.
Yeah, that's a— it's a risky proposition because if you blow it, you're not going to want to go back. You would ruin that bar for yourself. Just get drunk with him one day.
Here, wait, is this a girl asking? I think what you got to do—
this is non-binary.
Oh, non-binary. I think what you got to do is ask another bartender first. Like, hey, is that guy got a boyfriend, girlfriend? What's his deal? Because if you ask him out and he's like, no, then you're— it's gonna be awkward every time. Go through a middleman. Does that make sense?
Right?
No, if you're going to the bar and you just go to— go to the bar, talk to him at the bar.
So I'm saying, what do you say?
You want to get a drink sometime?
He's just like, oh my God, I'm so drunk. Or like, talk about how you're single. Then see if, you know, they talk about them being single.
I think you got to go at a time when it's not super busy and then just plan on being there for an hour or so. Have a few drinks, get talking with him, ask him to take a shot with you. And if he drops like a story about his girlfriend in the first 10 minutes, that's, that's your cue. Maybe not going to work out.
Does the situation reverse if it's girl-guy?
If the bartender is a girl?
Yeah.
Yeah. Then you— then that's different because she gets hit on all day by every guy. So, so if you hit on her, chances are she's gonna start to tune you out. Unless she likes you. Yeah, that's true.
If the roles are reversed, you're just good at your job. She's not into you.
Yeah.
Yeah, true. Good point, Zach. Really good point. That's a good add. Did you, Max, did you make him turn on the mic there?
Yes. He keeps trying to raise his hand and then he was like, I don't want to interrupt. And then there's like like a big block in what you guys are saying. So I just screamed at him, go.
You can interrupt.
Yeah. Sometimes you guys raise hands. We do that all the time.
I missed the hand, but the hand—
the hand raising is different.
Yeah.
Just interrupt.
Everyone else hand raises out of—
Also, Zach, you got to understand what I'm looking for.
The disrespect. The hand raising is disrespect.
The interruption also is you clicking the thing. Like, once you click, then we're going to be like, oh, is Zach, what do you think? So you don't have to be like, oh, can I speak? You just click.
You just gotta find the riff. That's all.
Yeah, but just, just click. Okay.
Yeah, she doesn't want to fuck you.
Yeah. Hank, you start— or Zach, you start with this next one. Go ahead, Hank.
Sup guys, my ex recently added me on her close friend story on Instagram. She broke up with me a few months ago and we haven't communicated since. While we were dating, she didn't have a close friend story that I'm aware of. Do I reach out to her? I feel like if she wants to talk again, she should reach out since she broke up with me.
Jack, she just wants to know that you're keeping her at the front of your mind. It's just like, hey, I just want you to keep thinking about me.
She's playing games.
That's it. Yeah, she just enjoys the fact that it's like, will he engage? Because then it's, all right, yeah, he's still thinking about me. I'm good.
Just don't view the story and then she'll reach out.
Oh, good point.
She's putting you on the close friend story to see who's actually watching, seeing it.
She wants to see your name.
Yeah.
Don't give her that.
Yeah.
That's such a good point.
Because once she sees the name, she got what she needed from the situation. You're going to think about it all day.
Yeah.
Can you—
and you don't want that. Don't invite that into your life.
Can you remove yourself from somebody's close friends?
Yeah.
What do you mean?
Can you be like, I don't want to see the green ones anymore?
You could probably block them and then unblock them.
That would be a power move.
Yeah. You ever get put on a random person's close friend?
That's electric.
That's happened to you?
Yeah. Who?
Random people.
That's awesome.
Yeah.
Highly recommend. Damn.
And you're like, should I even really be watching this right now? Yeah.
I'm like, do you have to like the story? Like, I have— no, I'm not gonna say it.
Say it.
I have Dom like every one of Mikey Betts' stories so Mikey Betts doesn't get mad at me.
Will he get mad?
He might now.
But would he get mad if you didn't like him?
Mikey Betts gets mad a lot.
He was just like, you haven't liked one of my stories in a couple months. And it's like, are you, are you reading? Are you seeing it? And so I was like, Dom, just every day, just go through the stories and just like Mikey Betts's.
This is so much worse than just not liking them.
Yeah, it's going to sting.
You're literally paying someone to like his story because he's—
I liked a couple.
Mikey wakes up in the morning like, oh, another day of job security. Hold on, hold on.
I did say he was in Mexico last week and he was, he was dressed as a man.
It's, it's, it's got to be a great story to like it.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
Or you can't just be liking other, other guys' stories for fun.
Oh, I have— speaking of Instagram, I just, I just logged back on. I hadn't been on in a while. I got a, I got a DM. I don't know if I can say who it's from. College basketball player. Played a lot of college basketball.
What's his name? The Kansas guy.
Perry Ellis.
No, Kansas, Michigan. What's his name?
I haven't heard that name in years, man.
Hunter Dickinson.
I'm not gonna say a guy that played a lot of college basketball. Titus. He says that's mean memes. I thought it was a college basketball guy. He says to show this to Max.
It's Hunter. Show Hunter.
So he just sent me like a thing that the Carolina Hurricanes posted and said, we've won more games in Philly the last 9 days than the Flyers, Eagles, and Phillies combined this whole month.
Is that true?
Yeah. Carolina Hurricanes are number one. hate list of all time right now.
There's just no way that's true.
Carolina— this— that's part of the reason of the must-win this weekend against the Carolina—
Oh, okay.
What the Carolina Hurricanes think that they're doing.
That's what they think. Yeah.
If we beat the fuck out of the Panthers, it's all the Carolina Hurricanes' fault.
Mm-hmm. I like this, Max, because I also hate the Carolina Hurricanes.
Yeah, fuck them.
That's, uh— thank you, Hunter, for sending us that because we needed that.
Max is back.
Max is back.
No, I've— I don't want to give—
Dom probably saw—
I don't want to give that the respect that it doesn't deserve.
Yeah, but you— but you just did.
Well, you made me. It's my job to respond. I didn't bring it up.
That's true.
But it's absolutely fucked all of Carolina this weekend.
Yeah.
Look what you did, Carolina. Look what you did, Carolina.
I found it. I did. I did. Mikey Betts had a cool sombrero when he was in Mexico and I said, damn, put that thing on. That was for me on his story.
That was nice.
Put that thing on.
So yeah, viva la stool. When you're clipping the Mikey Betts thing, make sure you add that.
Damn, put that thing on. Yeah, I personally saw him looking awesome and he fucking put that thing on. All right.
Last one. Not really guys and chicks, but hey, Dan, Eric, Henry, Chris, Zach, and Connor. Every year that goes by, I am stuck wondering why NFL doesn't just adopt college football overtime rules. They care about player safety. This would be the safest option, and it would also make the overall fan experience that much better. No one wants to see Harrison Mevis or Tyler Bass strut out there in a high-scoring game to have a walk-off field goal in overtime. Let Josh Allen and Matt Stafford go body blow for body blow and decide a winner that way.
I Admittedly, do we know that it's safer? Like, is college overtime safer than NFL overtime?
No idea.
I don't know if that's true. It might be. It might very well be true. I don't, I don't hate the idea. I kind of like seeing Meevis have something to do with the game. But I don't hate that idea. I think college overtime is much better than NFL.
Yeah, I like college overtime a lot better as well. But I agree. I don't know if it's like we did see Josh Allen and Matthew Stafford go Yeah, they did change the rule to make that happen. Yeah. Like, I think this person's forgetting that the first possession in overtime was a fumble, right, by the Bills.
Right.
So it's like they were going for it.
Yeah, it's— there is something to be said, I think, for having the overtime period look a lot like the regular time period, like a regular— like a 4th quarter looks the same as overtime. You have to put together drives ideally to be able to win the game. But I don't know, college football overtime is just so much better.
What I would say if I were going to change college football overtime a little bit to make it to the NFL, I'd say college football overtime, no field goals allowed.
Yeah.
So you just have to go, you have to go for it. Yeah, I like that. Try to score.
What are we laughing about in the booth? Booth boys. We're just laughing. Chris Connor, what are you guys laughing about? You guys are 2 funny guys.
No, memes are saying we haven't been getting a lot of guys on chicks submissions from actual girls recently. So he's like, I think I'm just gonna text Max's wife and just get things that Max says.
Oh, I like that. That's great. That's great. Like when he screamed when the Jaguars won. I didn't scream.
I didn't say a word.
We could do Dolente on Dolente.
Yeah, but people text it, text the number to the max.
Yeah, help us out, especially. Yeah, for anything when we do FAQs, when we do mainly, mainly guys on chicks. Guys, mainly guys. The other ones are good.
The other ones are good.
All right.
We should just do guys on guys.
That's the entire show.
Oh yeah, but just have guys, you know, maybe different things about their significant others, but the guys will help the guys.
Guys.
I think if it's—
we can help guys.

No fart questions.
