Welcome back to Good Follow. I am Juju Gotti, joined by my sister as always, Trista Crick. How you doing, sis?
I'm good. And just to fill everybody in, this show is presented by DraftKings.
Oh, thanks for the clutch fill in. See, that's why you need somebody somebody to have your back like my sister. But straight into the lead, man, my sister Paige, Big Paige, finally stepped up to the plate, man. And before answering any media questions, Paige took a moment to address her personal relationship with Big AZ.
Quite frankly, I believe me and AZ's personal relationship is no business but our own. And what we choose to share is completely up to us. Me and AZ are not new to this. She said we're not new to this. We're true to this, Juju. We've been— we've been in a relationship for a while now, so this has not been an issue. You haven't had anything to say. You didn't even know what was going on until I graduated and got to the league, and everybody was still trying to figure it out when AZ was there getting barbecue with me when I went to the Wings. Listen, the only reason you guys are talking about this right now is because I went on WAG Talk and I answered some questions about AZ, and now you guys have lost your damn minds. Listen, we've been playing together since Team USA Under-16.
Yep.
And I'm pretty sure we've had a thing since then, so don't you worry about it. If we break up, we'll make up, and we'll splash threes on you once again.
Exactly. And I like to reiterate, the smoke I feel like from the media and social-wise, social media as well, wasn't never for AZ and Paige. It's for the organization thinking that they had to step in and, and protect them from something. We have to start treating the WNBA now more like a business than a movement, you feel me? That we protecting so much and we, we have to do— no, we, we getting the bag now. You did— we, we raise them up right now. They've been professionals and been winning championships for years now. Trust that they know how to do this. And so we don't necessarily overextend ourselves in times we don't even need to, man. Whole media mess for nothing last week when sis had it the whole time.
And I think too, Juju, the, the thing that was hard, I think, for AZ was everything was on her because it was her press conference as the number 1 overall pick. And it was like Paige was gonna handle this from jump anyway, like Paige is the alpha in this dynamic. She's been the one that has, you know, sort of taken the mantle and spoken out about AZ and Paige. So I think this is one of those situations where like they put AZ in an uncomfortable spot and just like Paige normally does, she cleaned it right up like, uh, Mr. Clean.
Moving on to a little bit more serious note though, bro. Rakeia Jackson, man. The Rakeia Jackson situation, did you see it? Have you saw what was going on?
Yeah, I mean, it's a sad situation. Like, obviously during Unrivaled, Juju, you know, Rekia had taken some time away from her time at Unrivaled. There was a situation with her and her ex-boyfriend who plays for the Falcons, James Pierce Jr. And I remember, you know, I thought that was pretty much a wrap for him. You know, the evidence on the ground seemed like it was pretty cut and dry in terms of just, just the, like, everything that was public, like the chase, the headed to the police station, the T-boning, running from the cops. I don't even mean the stuff that it was, the domestic violence that he's been accused of. Just the stuff we do know was enough for me to be like, all right, it's a wrap for him. And, and now, like, you and I talked about this or saw it, and if you want to just give the sort of the allegations of what went on so that we can just set it up.
For the people who don't know, Pierce was arrested in Miami-Dade County on February 7th for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, fleeing and eluding police, resisting an officer with violence, as well as a misdemeanor charge of stalking. Man, like, need I go on? I will go on. He collided into Rekia's car several times while she attempted to reach the police station. She got a protective order, bro. I can keep reading and keep reading. The story just goes on and gets more worse and worse. I'm just— look, the justice system, we already know how it's been for the past umpteen years, and we know how the leadership is in our country right now, so we don't really have a lot of faith in them folks anyways. But I think that this is one of them situations where all the fans of him, the little kids that now see this and think Oh, I can go through this. Oh, this is the only thing I gotta— I can just quote unquote pay my way out of these situations.
Yeah, because apparently if he completes some sort of program, he's gonna be dismissed of all charges. That to me is whack as hell, like super whack.
Yeah, man. And I ain't— look, I come from street culture, you did. So it's, uh, my code in my chest is to always not speak on these things. This ain't my business. This ain't— this ain't, uh, got nothing to do with me. Snitches get stitches. But at the same same time, I think that we've moved on to a point in society where we got to start having our sisters' backs in a lot of these situations. I know the street code say this, but Rakeia is our sister. We got to protect them. We got to protect ourselves. And we got to show up for jury duty so they don't outnumber us in them courtrooms. And so now we complaining about, oh, the jury went this way, they don't represent us. This because you skipped jury duty, bro. So I'm gonna hold my brother accountable for how he treated my sister. And I don't like it. We gonna be right back after these messages. Who do you love? Ah, you fo' sho'. She gonna play with the food. Second half, she gonna score 100 points. So you gonna go with my— keep an eye on Anaya, as I call her. And happy birthday, Ryan. But Big Al, keep your eye on Big Al. She got it. She got that look in her eyes, man. So stay tuned to my sister. Lock in the Atlanta Dream. Buy 1,000 points, please.
This segment is presented by DraftKings. DraftKings, the crown is yours. Hey, Juju, you see that Asia Wilson debuted a new hairstyle? Everybody was taking bets. Is it gonna be silver? Is it gonna be gold? Is it gonna be platinum? And, uh, her spy— her inspo was Jean Gray from the X-Men. And so for reference, I don't like how you say X-Men, bro.
The X-Men.
X-Men. So she was, uh, you know, the thing that I have a problem with is that they consider X-Men to be Marvel.
Okay, here we go. My bad. You got to put your seat belts on.
Jean Grey— like, I think X-Men is its own thing. Like, it's not the— like, the Avengers are here and X-Men is here, okay? So it's just not a— it's just not a Marvel thing. It's an X-Men thing, you know what I mean, bro?
Sometimes I hear you say stuff on the show and I be like, ooh wee, them folks ain't gonna like that one. Because you know the Marvel— the Marvel DC folks, they do not play about this stuff, bro. I'm pretty sure we casuals, but I'm also pretty sure you just started a war, maybe a civil war. Salute to, uh, uh, what's his name, Captain Planet.
You mean the real Marvel?
It's—
oh, you mean Captain America and Iron Man and Spider-Man and the people who are actually in the Marvel Universe? Have you seen any any of the Marvel Universe interact with X-Men in a movie? No.
I mean, I seen Deadpool interact with my boy. Is that— does that count?
No. Anyway, congratulations to Asia. I think it's amazing that she comes out and does this every year, and we wonder what she's gonna put on. Oh my goodness, he was basically had the Halle Berry Silver Storm X-Men Uh, last year as well. Again, not a Marvel character. Someone needs to put her up on game. She'll probably win another MVP though, looking like Jean Gray. Jean Gray was a baddie. Jean Gray was very powerful and one of the most powerful characters in the X-Men universe.
The X-Men.
X-Men.
But while Asia was talking the other day, it made me think, hold on now, I think my sister need a new nickname, bruh. Like, because what's Asia's nicknames right now? Is it just Asia?
That's what I thought.
The apostrophe. I think moving forward, bro, with her accolades, 4 times this, only 8 years in, MVP that, man, I think we should start calling her Queen Wilson, man. We call him King James. We need to start calling her Queen Wilson when we talk about sis. Expeditiously.
She's just headed for every award under the sun, and the Aces are now a real problem now that they've added Kennedy Carter. They asked her, um, about adding Kennedy Carter to the training camp, and she had this to say: It's been a joy to have her in the locker room, and we're going to continue to push and help her grow, and she's going to help us grow. But I was an opponent against her when she fried us, and so it's pretty cool to have her in the locker room now so she won't be frying us. She's actually gonna be frying other people with our jersey on, which I'm very appreciative of. That to me, Juju, means she's gonna be on the team unless she does something crashy outie, bruh.
That's high praise from the GOAT, man. Like, dog, and she right, bruh, because I done seen her kill and fry everything. Look, and now she get to do that alongside Queen Wilson. Oh nah, salute. And I got a little bit more faith in Kennedy than I had when I first heard this news too, because she been a class act so far. I don't see it going too crazy, but don't mark my words on that.
All you have to do is just hoop, Kennedy. That's all you need to do. And Asia and, and the point guard and Jewel and Jackie, they'll take care of the rest.
