00:02:32

Okay, let's go. Football guy, Patino, AWM. Part of my take, yeah.

00:02:45

Part of my take, yeah.

00:02:49

Part of my take, yeah.

00:02:52

Part of my take, yeah.

00:02:56

Part of my take. Welcome to Part of My Take, presented by DraftKings. The crown is yours. Today is Friday, June 5th. And the New York Knickerbockers are 3 games away from winning their first NBA title in over 50 years. And PFT, they may never lose again. I'm talking about next season too.

00:03:19

They might just be the best team to ever play playoff basketball at this point. It's like, it, it's crazy. And, and they did get off to a slow start too, but it doesn't matter.

00:03:26

Yeah, it was— I mean, the first half you're like, oh man, this might be— you know, Jalen Brunson, uh, has his knee banged into, which we'll talk about in a second. He goes to the locker room, you're like, oh man, they might be not be ready for the moment. They're down at half, and I guess 14 in the third. Guess what? The— and not, not to do a LeBron here, but the minute the Knicks cut it down going into the fourth quarter, I— we were actually watching the game. Some of us were watching the game together. I was like, it's Jalen Brunson time, and it was. He wasn't the most efficient. He took 31 shots, but he is a stone cold killer in the fourth quarter. And the Spurs had no answer for him, and it was anything he wanted he got. And it was also the Knicks defense was incredible. KAT was— I mean, that was maybe— I know it wasn't like that. He didn't— I don't think he hit a 3, but in terms of just like best game overall, uh, maybe best playoff game because he was so good defensively. He was getting tough baskets.

00:04:24

Uh, Josh Hart has never seen a rebound he doesn't think he can get.

00:04:28

I was gonna say, actually, like, KAT had a great game from the opening tip. He won the opening tip. I think the first guy to get to do that against Wimby. Yep. Um, but I would say the guy that had the best all-around game for the Knicks was Josh Hart. It's— and he didn't score. He had like no points, but he's the second player in the history of the NBA to get 15 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 steals in a Finals game. And I believe he's the shortest player since Elgin Baylor in 1970 to record 15 rebounds in a Finals game. The Knicks were outscored by 17 with Hart on the bench.

00:05:01

It's crazy.

00:05:02

Hart, like, I've never seen a guy contribute so much to a game without scoring.

00:05:05

That's just who he is.

00:05:06

I saw Josh Hart last night.

00:05:07

That's who he is. Awesome. He's— he— the ball, like, the ball could be just flying out of bounds and then here comes Josh Hart and he's gonna find a way to get it and get it back in play. He was awesome. Um, Wemby was not as like—

00:05:22

he wasn't good.

00:05:22

No, he wasn't. And, and he was— it's a problem too because You could see too when he, when he comes off the court, they just start attacking the basket. Luke Kornet, like this happened in the Thunder series too, where it's just the Spurs have to figure out a way to survive Luke Kornet minutes. But Wemby was, was not what you wanted him to be in terms of like the superstar best player in the world that people are putting on his head. And he's got to be better. He said it after he was actually kind of weirdly cocky. He said after he's like, I'm not worried at all.

00:05:52

I got a question for you about Wemby. And you know, I love watching Wemby. You love watching Wemby. I think we all, yeah, like kind of of amazed by watching this guy play basketball. Would we hate Wimby more if he was not French? Or does his Frenchness kind of give like—

00:06:08

I think it's the opposite.

00:06:09

But no, but what I'm saying is like, does it give almost like a mystical aura to him when he's being weird, when he's acting like aloof sometimes?

00:06:16

I see what you're saying.

00:06:17

We're like, oh, he's just French. I see what you're saying. Like, if he was American, would we be like, this guy's— he's a little bit corny?

00:06:22

Yeah, I'd agree with that. But he's still getting to know him. We're still— we're still in the feeling out process. But yeah, he's got to be better. I mean, De'Aaron Fox is bad. Dylan Harper, like taking him off the court for the last 4 minutes. I don't— I don't really understand that.

00:06:36

He really didn't play in the fourth quarter. He's probably the most efficient player on either team when he was in the game. Yeah, he was really, really good. And then I think that they just— they're trying to figure out who's going to be hot at any given time with that combination of 3 guards. And sometimes you whiff on it. But it was Dylan Harper last night. Yeah, he was. Yeah.

00:06:52

And they took him out.

00:06:53

They took him out.

00:06:53

Yeah.

00:06:53

And sometimes you whiff on it like that.

00:06:55

Do we think, Memes, that Jalen Brunson going into last night's game had any extra motivation that we didn't think about from the time that Wimby took the basketball when he scored 61 points and he threw it into the crowd and wouldn't let Jalen Brunson take that ball home?

00:07:14

No, I think it's more Becky Hammond, but that's just—

00:07:18

Yeah, let's talk about Becky Hammond because I agree with her, but in a good way. I think she said that Jalen Brunson is too short to be a superstar.

00:07:27

He said they did not get a dude. He's not a dude.

00:07:30

Yeah, I think he might be too short for Wimby.

00:07:33

But is he a dude?

00:07:34

I think he's too short in a good way.

00:07:36

He's a certified dude.

00:07:37

The same way that like, was it FTU that won against Purdue?

00:07:42

Yeah, he's too short.

00:07:43

I think he's too short in a good way. Like they have a hard time guarding him because he is short. He throws his body around. And I know Memes and I talked about this a little bit earlier. I would like to see Jalen Brunson play defense against Wemby because his, his, he would be right where the ball is being dribbled, right?

00:07:59

Yes. He might accidentally dribble Jalen Brunson's head.

00:08:02

That's what I'm saying. Like, he might be the ultimate Wemby stopper off the dribble.

00:08:06

Yeah.

00:08:06

There's a theory going around the internet that he's just at his hips and can just steal the ball constantly.

00:08:12

Yeah. Jalen Brunson, dude's got big head. Yeah, uh, when did Becky Hammond say this?

00:08:19

Right when the Knicks signed him.

00:08:20

Okay, so while— I mean, I, I've always thought small guards are going to struggle in the playoffs, Steph Curry being a unicorn, Jalen Brunson might be that unicorn as well. I will say, in, in, in— maybe not in her defense, but in like the general sense, no one thought Jalen Brunson, when the Knicks signed him, was going to be this. No one.

00:08:38

No, or else the Mavericks wouldn't— you think the Mavericks would just let a generational superstar go? Yeah, I think that's what they would do. And it's not—

00:08:45

this isn't like a shot at anyone because I didn't think it. I just, I don't think anyone was like, he is going to be one of the like best players in the NBA, take the Knicks within 3 games. I think they're going to win the title, uh, take the Knicks to their first title in 50-plus years, and also be just like the— I would say right now in the NBA, the number one killer, like in terms of fourth quarter killer. You just, you want the ball in his hands. He will, he will run the offense. He will get to his spots. He will make his shots and he is just completely unaffected by everything. Even after the game, he was— I don't know what the fans said to him, uh, that he was going back and forth with, but like, he just won Game 1 of the NBA Finals after being down by 14, and he was talking to Scott Foster and looked pissed off after the game. So maybe the fans said something really bad, but memes, is that— that is fair. No, no one thought he's gonna be this.

00:09:44

That's fair. People knew he was going to be good. Yes. Because he kind of brought the Mavericks to that Western Conference Finals.

00:09:49

And you watch him at Nova like he was— I loved him at Nova. He was so good at Nova. Like, so yes, but like, this is— he's incredible.

00:09:57

Yeah.

00:09:57

And he does have the Mamba mentality.

00:10:01

Yes.

00:10:01

Whatever you want to call it. Yes. And like every single playoffs, he just ties Michael Jordan records.

00:10:05

I think that with him when he went to the Knicks, when Becky Hammond said like, I don't think that this guy can, he's not a dog, he can't get it done. That's when Knicks fans were like, you know what, fuck it. Yeah, he's a superstar. Like he just needed somebody to like doubt him a little bit. That made New York fall even deeper in love with him. And he's so much fun to watch. They did say after the game, the NBA is looking into two courtside fans who allegedly directed vulgar, profane flopping remarks towards the Knicks star late in game one of the finals. He did seem to like be pointing them out. Yeah. Like, like he had a few different interactions with them courtside. I don't think that he really flopped much there. He— I did think that he was dead, maybe, to be fair. There were two moments in the first quarter. Yep. I thought that Jalen Brunson was dead, and then because of that, Zach was going to die.

00:10:52

Zach, what was going through your head? I, I, I tweeted during the game, I said we're doing a Zoom episode because this was, this was right when he left and went to the locker room. I thought we would have to do a Zoom episode. No way we could be all in person. What I want to know, what was going through your head, Zach, and what was going through through your head, Memes? Because Memes, I would imagine you were— it was like, put the, put the bomb on and, and show up to the office.

00:11:18

So initially, initially you see it, you see him hit, get hit in the knee, and you're like, oh goodness, I hope he's okay. And then it wasn't okay, it hit the tunnel. I was like, that's really not good for a team. This— I mean, he's, he's the captain, by far the best player on the court. I would say best player in NBA right now. And then second, right under that, I was like, well tomorrow could be the worst day ever if it comes.

00:11:40

Yeah, if tomorrow hap— if I'm lucky enough, that's a good point.

00:11:43

That's what— if I make it through the evening into the office tomorrow and he's actually hurt and doesn't come back and then have like an insane fourth quarter there, yeah, it was gonna be a bad day. It's gonna be a rough day.

00:11:54

And Memes, what was, what was your reaction when all this happened?

00:11:58

My reaction was I just had flashbacks to Aaron Rodgers walking back to the locker room.

00:12:04

Mm-hmm.

00:12:04

And then I thought to myself, I don't know what kind of sex or blood ritual Big Cat PFT did before starting this show, that everything just happens for this show.

00:12:20

Mm-hmm.

00:12:22

It just didn't make any sense. I was like, there's no way we're losing Jaylen Brunson one quarter into the finals after the 11 controversy. After the 11 controversy.

00:12:31

Sex or blood. Sex or blood. Why not both? Why not the COVID of the Metallica album Load.

00:12:36

Like, everything just comes up PMT.

00:12:38

Yeah, you, you tweeted, I don't think I want to do this part of my take thing anymore.

00:12:43

It's— I was like, well, we can't lose Jalen Brunson one quarter in, and it was the part of my take gods or whoever you guys did the ritual for.

00:12:52

Nobody wanted that. We were all together, and when we found out that—

00:12:56

no, we were, we were like, holy shit, this can't happen. This can't—

00:13:00

terrifying.

00:13:00

Maybe Hank.

00:13:02

Hank definitely would. Hey, I shouldn't speak for—

00:13:04

Hater Hank is out in full force. Yeah.

00:13:07

Yeah. Memes, I was very upset for you when it happened. I did not want it to happen. But then when he came back and then he got hurt again, I will say this. When he got hurt the second time, when he like did the tweak of his ankle, maybe like minor high, high ankle sprain or whatever, I thought he was out again because he was like yelling at the ref from the ground. I thought that was just him in pain. Then he got up, walked it off. At that point, I did say out loud to myself, how many more times is this guy going to get hurt? I did say that. So I'd like to apologize for that. Do you think he was actually hurt?

00:13:37

Apology accepted.

00:13:38

Yeah, he was definitely hurt. So he definitely played on like a beaver tranquilizer or something.

00:13:42

Beaver tranquilizer.

00:13:43

Nice. That sounds not legal.

00:13:46

What was going through your head about Zach specifically?

00:13:51

Honestly, nothing. People were— people— my phone was blown up being like, We got to take care of Zach. He was like, people that work here.

00:14:01

Oh, so why did Tom Ley say that?

00:14:02

It was Tom Ley.

00:14:04

Yeah.

00:14:06

Uh, but then he came back and then it was fine.

00:14:08

Okay. Um, are you worried that they're not going to be able to shoot him up with the same beaver tranquilizer for game 2? That sounds like a pretty serious—

00:14:15

no, if you got one beaver tranquilizer, you got more.

00:14:20

Okay. Do we know what they suspect him of having? Like, what's the injury?

00:14:24

No, just a sore knee.

00:14:27

I, I— Dr. Dan said it was a possible sprained MCL, but I— he played on it. I think he'll probably not feel great, but again, I don't— if you doubt Jalen Brunson at this point, you're, you're crazy. And he— so here's some Jalen Brunson stats that are nuts. And, and by the way, back to the, uh, conversation about the small guard thing, it also is credit to— and Memes, I think you probably agree with this— it's credit to the Knicks roster rebuilding and what Leon Rose has done in terms of the Knicks just have like really good defenders and crazy length at most of their positions. And then you can have Jalen Brunson, who's maybe not the best defender, when you, when you surround him with Josh Hart and OG and Mikael Bridges and Cat, who played great defense and didn't get— and Mitchell Robinson. Like, these guys are, are just dogs. And I think that was what— like, if you look at what the Spurs did last night, they shot like shit. I think the length of the Knicks probably bothered them a little bit because it's, it's a different beast than what they were up against with the Thunder.

00:15:29

Do you think that there's any merit to, uh, the people that are saying Wimby— they got to figure out how to rest Wimby without resting him?

00:15:36

Well, this is the problem. Luke Kornet comes in and it's like, it's basically everyone's like, get to the rim now.

00:15:40

But like, leave him in the game but like do in-game minutes where he's not— they did a great job of pushing the tempo and making him run and get it and getting him moving, but like Is there a way for Wimby to get a couple of minutes where he's not just going balls to the wall and stay on the court?

00:15:56

I think our good friend Rachel Nichols had a tweet last night that was— it was maybe a borderline— the glazing's crazy. Let me try to find it. It was— hold on, because it basically hit on exactly what you're talking about. Victor may be 22 years old in his first finals, but that shoelace tying at the line to get himself an extra breath was a vet move. Glazin's a little crazy.

00:16:21

Okay. So yeah, stuff like that is—

00:16:23

he also needed to tie his shoe.

00:16:24

Yeah, they need to do more of that. Can he have like longer shoelaces? What if he had like the longest shoelaces possible? Clown shoes? Yeah. So it took— it actually did take him 5 minutes to tie his shoes.

00:16:35

Multiple guys have to— Steph Castle and De'Aaron Fox have to come and tie his shoes for him.

00:16:40

And like every time there's a whistle, somebody on the Spurs needs to have an untied shoe. Yeah. That they have to start tying. That's, that's number one. Number 2 is they might have to just go back to Hakimic, like, if he's on the court, just to get in those minutes, get Wemby some rest.

00:16:54

But that was what was crazy last night, because we all thought— we talked with Kirk Goldsberry about it— I thought OG was going to guard, uh, Wemby, and Cat was— I mean, he did a great job.

00:17:04

I thought that Cat, after the game, when he did the interview, uh, with Charles and Shaq and the guys, that was awesome. Yeah, Cat like that. He was like— he was so calm and like introspective and and like what he was saying, you could tell he meant it and it means the world for him to be playing in the NBA Finals. He was talking about how like this is a moment he thought about ever since he was a little kid and now he's grown up and it feels just like he thought it would and that he felt his mom's presence there. That was a really cool moment to see KAT like that after such a great performance. And then at one point he was like, you know what, I'm just really proud of the defensive effort that I put out there. Yeah, there's other stuff I have to correct, but I'm proud of the defense that I played tonight. This is KAT saying all this. Like, KAT has been maligned throughout his career sometimes for not really trying on defense.

00:17:47

He tries, he just maybe just fouls and, you know, doesn't move his feet.

00:17:51

Yeah, yeah. But, but now it's like, this is a different KAT, and credit to the Knicks coaching staff.

00:17:57

Yeah, I told you before the series, I have two man crushes: Steph Castle and KAT. I've always loved KAT. I think he's so funny, and, and he's— I love his game. And I, you know, people, people make fun of his like expressions. I think it adds to it. It's just he's, he's an entertaining guy to watch and I'm very happy for him. Um, the, the Jalen Brunson— you ready for some Jalen Brunson stats memes? I'm sure you've seen all these, but 318 players have appeared in 55+ playoff games for a single team. The only ones to average more points per game than Jalen Brunson are Michael Jordan for the Bulls, Allen Iverson for the Sixers, LeBron James for the Cavs, and Kareem for the Bucks. That's pretty good company. He also, uh, right now is— he scored 30 points in almost 50% of his playoff games with the Knicks. 30 points or more in almost 50%, 47.4%. That's pretty insane. He is, uh, he's just every, every time, like fourth quarter, he's just insane. He's— Jalen Brunson's averaged 8.2 points per game in the fourth quarter in OT in playoffs with the Knicks. Only person in play-by-play era to average more is MJ with 9.3 points per game in the fourth quarter overtime.

00:19:14

So it's— he's just, he's on a different level right now. I— now for the Spurs, if you were looking for, hey, how, how, like, is the series over? Um, Wemby's gonna play better, you'd assume.

00:19:28

Yeah, he didn't play well at all. I, I think he'll figure it out.

00:19:30

Yeah, uh, I also think they aren't going to shoot as bad as they shot. I saw a stat, I think it was they were 1 for 13, uh, in shooting when— or 1 for 14 with Brunson as the primary defender. You just imagine that the shooting would get a little bit better. The thing that I would be nervous about with the Spurs is, like I said, they, they used Cat on Wemby last night. They haven't even had to go to the OG. Like, OG feels like the, the counter move if, if Wemby starts going off. Mm-hmm. So it's like they kept a chess move ready for later in the series.

00:20:02

Yeah, I think that also, you know, the Spurs are probably tired. They're probably exhausted to a certain extent after a 7-game series, which is why in the second half kind of looked a little sluggish. I think they'll be— excuse me, I think they'll be okay in game number 2. I would put the house on the Spurs winning game 2. House.

00:20:21

The Knicks have not lost a game since April 23rd. Insane. April 23rd. It's tax day for you, Hank.

00:20:29

April 23rd.

00:20:31

What about some fucking nuts?

00:20:32

What about the guy that ran onto the court? You hardly ever see what they did last night, which was they showed a replay, like a slow-mo replay of the person that did it. Usually they cut away.

00:20:42

Not only that, but there's just— basketball is not a streaker sport.

00:20:46

No, it's not. Also, we need to, across the board, I think I've talked about this in football. You're not a streaker if you're wearing clothes, correct? We need to— that S-word is not for you. You're just a guy. You're just a trespasser. If you trespass, if you go on the court at an NBA game just to, like, promote whatever cryptocurrency or like whatever shitcoin you're trying to pump, they should take all your money too. Yeah, they should. They should tap into your account and be like, sorry, you're a loser.

00:21:17

Yep.

00:21:17

All your money now goes to the team.

00:21:19

Yep. Agreed. Did you guys listen? I know we've talked about it a lot, but I feel like the Larry O'Brien Trophy at center court was too big. And I think, I think we should go back to not having it. Adam Silver, if you're listening, we— I think we got to get rid of it.

00:21:37

Distracting. Yeah.

00:21:38

No, I just want to keep flip-flopping and see if we can get him to remove it year by year.

00:21:42

What did you think?

00:21:43

Dude, it's too much, dude. Come on. Like, we get it. It's the NBA Finals.

00:21:46

What'd you think? Fucking chill out. What did you think about the introductions? That was another one.

00:21:50

Dude, I love the Spurs always doing the weird— the songs. They used to do that back in the day too. Yeah, I thought the broadcast was good except for the AI Tony Parker, which no one can explain.

00:22:01

That's weird. That's very strange. I also thought that people that are getting mad at Wimby for putting his hands like crossing his arms during the national anthem, those people online are my new favorite people that don't understand that he's not American. So he doesn't have his hand over his heart for the Star-Spangled Banner. That's funny. And then I listen again. I like the crowd. I like the colorful, the festive crowd that they have in San Antonio. Not the most intimidating, but it is awesome to look at. I was confused by our great friend Darren Rovell, who said credit to the Spurs for getting everybody in the crowd to dress up like a Taco Bell hot sauce packet. I don't know that Darren Rovell has ever eaten at a Taco Bell.

00:22:40

I think he was just talking about the Taco Bell design of like the '90s.

00:22:44

Yeah, that would make sense.

00:22:45

I think he was talking about specifically the orange. Kind of looked like a hot— but like the other colors, just orange, red, black. It was, it was pink. It was, it was like an aqua. Those are not colors of the salsa or the hot sauce at Taco Bell.

00:22:58

I do think that the Spurs crowd should go all black in the, in the next game. I don't know if that would like fuck up there or make it— maybe, maybe if they did take the over, like shooting eye would be awesome. It'd be great. Yeah.

00:23:09

If it was like curtains, be intimidating, get some of the bats back in there. Like when Manu used to just snatch him out of the air.

00:23:15

Do we? So our good friend Jerry O'Connell was there. He broke the AC. Yeah, they did break the AC. The— his— just watching his Twitter, I don't know how he gets into these situations where it's just so funny. He was in— he just popped up in a car with 3 Asian dudes, Knicks fans, and then Jerry somehow looked the most Asian out of all of them, which didn't make any sense either. But Jerry is just— he's everywhere. Do we think that there is a chance? Yeah, look at that picture. Look at it. I mean, he does. So it's— he just finds friends everywhere. They did a celebrities at Game 1 graphic. Where should we be upset for Jerry?

00:24:03

So I was upset when this happened to him in the World Series because it did feel— it felt personal. This time feels like not personal, just it feels like the NBA is trying to copy what Major League Baseball did, which was pretending to not know that Jerry O'Connell was there.

00:24:17

I—

00:24:17

all right. So I have the list in front of me. Politicians aside, because Jerry should be ahead of politicians like they have, you know, Governor Greg Abbott, the mayor is on there. But let's— I'm just going to say some names. Tell me if Jerry should be ahead of them. Timothée Chalamet. I think that's fair that Timothée Chalamet gets on there.

00:24:34

He's hot right now. Also credit to Chalamet for almost taking a role player type assignment. Not being foot— feet on the wood.

00:24:41

Yep.

00:24:41

Was Abbott— was his feet— or his feet?

00:24:43

I don't know. I don't know. Um, Shane Gillis bigger. Our good friend Shane Gillis, he's bigger. Jimmy Goldstein, I don't— that guy, he's just the Marlins man in NBA. Get him out of here. He's not Jerry O'Connell, who's in Kangaroo Jack. Get the fuck out of here. Uh, I think— let's see, Ben Stiller, I get it, he's probably bigger. If— I think Jerry's better. Whatever. Tracy Morgan bigger. Spike Lee. But Come on, Fat Joe. Fat Joe's not fat anymore. So that's Jerry O'Connell. Yeah. Like, hey, hey, Fat Joe. Jerry, Jerry already did that move.

00:25:17

Fat.

00:25:17

He was fat and he got skinny. Yeah. You're just late to the party.

00:25:20

Fat Gordo, right?

00:25:21

Yeah. Yeah. I would like to see Jerry on one of these lists. It's kind of crazy. Did he just went solo?

00:25:27

Yeah, he just went to go and then AEW drove him home, I guess.

00:25:30

Yeah.

00:25:31

Fucking love it.

00:25:32

He's the best. He's the absolute best.

00:25:35

Is he going to go to Game 2? I don't know, because he said— the last I saw from him said, I live in San Antonio now. Oh, okay. He went to the Alamo.

00:25:45

He had a great time.

00:25:46

Alamo, kind of overrated.

00:25:48

Yeah, a little bit. Never forget, tiny. Okay. What other— any, any other thoughts from the series, from Game 1? It was— it did feel the hype of the game felt like the Finals were back. I also saw— I think it was a stat that, uh, this— I think that was the first time the Spurs lost an NBA Finals Game 1.

00:26:07

Yep, they were 6-0.

00:26:08

Yeah. Uh, Landry Shamet just shows up and hits threes.

00:26:10

Yeah, he's a killer, just an assassin.

00:26:13

And Miles McBride are the fucking best.

00:26:14

Yeah.

00:26:16

I will say though, uh, to counter your point with what you could say for the Spurs, you could also say for the Knicks, like, the Knicks did not play good.

00:26:23

No, I agree. I agree.

00:26:24

And that was the Russ game. And you imagine the Russ is going to fall off.

00:26:28

And like, this was the Russ game. Yeah.

00:26:30

And the Spurs just looked dead tired at the end of that game.

00:26:33

Spurs shot 26% from 3. But yeah, no, I mean, that was, uh, at halftime you like, the Spurs kind of have to win this game because you like, the Knicks just, I, I don't know if they'll ever lose again. It's, it's insane what they've done and how good they are. And how likable they are. You know, it's, it's not— so what do you say, Max?

00:26:56

Game 2 for the Spurs is the biggest must-win of all must-wins all time.

00:27:01

It's a can't-lose and a must-win all rolled into one.

00:27:03

It may as well be an elimination game.

00:27:06

Yes. Yeah, I'd be fine if they said that the series— we're done. We may—

00:27:11

yeah, it's— there's zero chance if they lose Game 2.

00:27:14

We got a lot of people that listen to this podcast. I love all of you, and I, I'd like to use the The AWL is out there to try to get to the bottom of something that they won't disclose to us. Before the game last night, they had the mayor of San Antonio on, and when they brought her on before they actually had her on set, I was worried about what she was going to look like with the whole Charles Barkley dynamic. Fortunately, that was not a problem. She said that there's a mayor's bet between her and Momdani. I love mayor's bets. She won't tell us what the stakes are.

00:27:43

Oh no.

00:27:44

It's a secret. We have a secret mayor's bet going on right now. If anybody out there knows what the two have bet, it's probably something extremely corny, but I just need to know. I have to know. It's probably like, I don't know, uh, like it's probably like a, uh, pizza, like from Joe's tossed up against like a gallon of white queso. I don't know what it is, but I have to know. So somebody please tell me if you know what the two have bet.

00:28:08

Okay. We got to find this out.

00:28:10

Yeah.

00:28:10

You have to, you have to publicly say what the mayor's bet.

00:28:12

Yeah.

00:28:13

I don't understand. I've never heard of a secret mayor's bet in my life.

00:28:16

Got to. Got to.

00:28:19

Okay.

00:28:20

You feel good about Game 2 memes, Zach? You guys going to watch together?

00:28:26

I'm going to find it.

00:28:28

Google Secret Mayor's Bet.

00:28:30

Yeah.

00:28:31

I thought the news would know what I was talking about.

00:28:33

The news doesn't.

00:28:35

That maybe PFT is just making this up then, because that should—

00:28:38

okay.

00:28:39

I found it. I mean, she said it on the show.

00:28:41

I know there's people should be talking about it.

00:28:43

I've reached out to the highest levels of our federal government to try to figure this out. And I'm— I wish I was exaggerating about that.

00:28:51

We're going to find this.

00:28:52

Yeah, I've called in every favor I have to try to find out what this is.

00:28:55

Any last thoughts, memes, and Zach before Game 2?

00:28:57

I feel great. I just feel—

00:29:00

how could you not?

00:29:01

I feel like the Spurs haven't played a team like the Knicks. Like the only way to beat the Knicks, you have to kill the Knicks and the Knicks don't die. Like you have to, you have to run up the score. Yeah, because every game they've won, they've just, they've just beat teams by 30.

00:29:16

Although the Hawks did beat them. The Hawks are the second best team in the NBA.

00:29:21

I think so.

00:29:22

It might be the fact that they beat the Knicks twice. It's pretty massive. A lot of— raise a banner and then I'll get it in like 5 years.

00:29:29

A lot of former Wizards on the Hawks too. Yeah. Hey, what do you say as a— oh yeah, you're, you're a big Knicks hater, known hater of the city of New York. This is not a good start for you.

00:29:40

Yeah, I mean, congrats to me, congrats to Zach. Let's— I mean, should we just start Mount Rushmore season on Sunday?

00:29:47

If you know what, I think if the Knicks win, yeah, yeah, the series, we still got to figure it out.

00:29:56

Spurs, Spurs, Spurs needed to win both these games.

00:29:59

They lost.

00:30:00

Are you— they're out of gas.

00:30:02

Are you a little nervous now that like If the Knicks win this one, everything comes down to next season.

00:30:08

They're—

00:30:09

yeah, I mean, they're—

00:30:11

they'd be NBA champions.

00:30:12

That—

00:30:12

and they would— can't deny that.

00:30:14

If they— like, you thought this was going to be your time.

00:30:17

Oh, it's still— it's— that's— that— it's not not our time.

00:30:20

Oh, it's not your time?

00:30:21

By definition, it's not. It will be.

00:30:24

The last 3 champs will be Celtics, Thunder, Knicks, and then next season's for everything.

00:30:28

So yeah, Hank and I had a little conversation about this. He's already focused on like who's going to be known as the team of the '20s. And right now, since we don't have any repeat champions, it could very well— the Celtics still could be in the middle of a dynasty that we don't even know about yet.

00:30:41

They still have a good resume.

00:30:42

It's a dormant dynasty.

00:30:44

It's, it's not off the table.

00:30:46

Right. But this got to make you nervous.

00:30:50

Yeah. I mean, the Knicks are the greatest team ever assembled. It's tough to deny. Like they're, they're unstoppable. There's no way they're losing this series and we should just fast forward to next year.

00:31:00

Which would you rather have done? Get beaten in Game 7 by the Sixers, which did happen, or get swept by the Knicks, which would have happened?

00:31:12

I guess get swept by the Knicks.

00:31:15

So you admit it would have happened?

00:31:17

Yeah. I mean, this— have you seen this team? They're unstoppable.

00:31:20

Yeah.

00:31:21

And the Spurs are out of gas.

00:31:23

Are you going to congratulate the Knicks on their championship?

00:31:25

I did. I said congrats. Congrats, Zach.

00:31:27

So yeah, congrats all the Knicks and all their fans.

00:31:31

Yeah, Jerry, whoever.

00:31:32

Do you accept the congrats?

00:31:36

Memes.

00:31:37

Knicks, 3 wins away.

00:31:39

Zach?

00:31:40

One game at a time.

00:31:41

Okay.

00:31:41

But I would like to add on after those 3 wins if they happen.

00:31:46

What would you like to add on?

00:31:47

Nope, but we gotta wait.

00:31:49

Wait. Oh ho!

00:31:50

We gotta wait.

00:31:51

What would you like to add on?

00:31:52

Oh, so much. Knicks gotta win.

00:31:55

Oh.

00:31:56

Oh, there's going to be a lot adding on. A lot. We need like its own, you know, Memes add-on portion.

00:32:02

Nice little Monday reading.

00:32:04

Is it— is it who's on the hot seat? Just Hank or everyone?

00:32:09

No, just Celtics.

00:32:12

Just Hank. Yeah.

00:32:13

I almost think that Memes should have like the New York Minute, his own podcast. If the Knicks win, just for him to get all these— because Memes already has become a problem where he's dangerously confident. He's looking down his nose at everybody else. You need, I think, your own silo for your Knicks takes.

00:32:31

Yeah, I'm just enjoying every second of it because the reality is you either just— life goes on and you're still a loser or your life changes forever.

00:32:41

What would change about your life forever?

00:32:43

Everything. I'd be a winner. Yeah, but I am a massive loser. I just freaked out at someone for a lottery ball machine.

00:32:49

Yeah. Walk me through.

00:32:50

And it was a freakout.

00:32:52

Day to day. What changes about your life if you become a winner?

00:32:57

Happiness, peace.

00:33:00

Yep.

00:33:00

Joy.

00:33:01

Do you think that you would be worse at your job if you were happy all the time?

00:33:04

Oh, for sure. Yeah. I'm sure you'll find something to be pissed off about.

00:33:09

Yeah, but it'd be a great summer. And then the Jets start and then I'm back.

00:33:13

Yeah. Okay. Other stories before. So we're taping this in the afternoon. We're going to— we're going to get the reaction to Stanley Cup Final coming up in a minute. And also Caleb on the Madden cover. Yeah. What do you got?

00:33:27

What do you got?

00:33:27

What do you got?

00:33:27

Just one of the other stories in the news right now.

00:33:29

Oh yeah. Are you reading it?

00:33:31

That one? No.

00:33:32

Oh, okay. Because I didn't even know that one. I hope—

00:33:34

I hope you're thinking the same one I'm thinking of.

00:33:37

All right. Tell me what it's about, Max.

00:33:40

Does it involve one of— actually, I guess two of the teams that are fans of the show.

00:33:49

It might. There's— I had two of these, actually. I had two Brian Windhorses. Okay. I'll go with the other one first. Congratulations to Nick Herbig on getting a massive contract from the Pittsburgh Steelers. Mm-hmm. Badger, correct me if I'm wrong, but he's also not a starter and he just got $100 million from the Steelers.

00:34:11

Why?

00:34:11

Now, why would they do?

00:34:12

Why would that?

00:34:12

Why would that be?

00:34:13

Why would they do something like that?

00:34:14

Why would that be?

00:34:16

Do you think maybe, maybe TJ Watt might be getting chopped?

00:34:21

Hmm.

00:34:22

Do you think TJ Watt would be interested in playing for the Chicago Bears?

00:34:26

That would be fun.

00:34:29

Oh, just something to think about.

00:34:30

Rap sheet dispels— okay, that— this is where—

00:34:32

what happened?

00:34:33

Rap sheet dispels any TJ Watt trade rumors. TJ Watt isn't going anywhere this year. He's going to play for the Pittsburgh Steelers. I don't get the sense that Alex Highsmith is going anywhere else. That makes me think he's going to get traded.

00:34:44

I mean, the fact that they paid— they gave Herbig a $100 million contract as a backup makes no sense. Mm-hmm. Right. Just something to think about.

00:34:55

He's very good.

00:34:56

Yeah, he is. He's a very good player.

00:34:58

Okay.

00:34:58

What was your other one? And then the other one had to do with New England Patriot AJ Brown.

00:35:05

Yeah, that's what I'm looking at right now. I didn't even see that. I didn't even see that story.

00:35:09

That's crazy. So he admitted to leaking stories about the Eagles to the media to motivate the team. Is this true or am I get— is this essential?

00:35:18

You're not even close to the most interesting thing of the AJ Brown story, right?

00:35:22

By all means, go ahead.

00:35:23

You're not even close to the most—

00:35:25

give it to us, please.

00:35:27

Someone from inside of the Eagles locker room leaked exactly what happened in the beef between AJ Brown, Jalen Hurts, and Hassan Reddick.

00:35:36

Okay, go ahead. And should I—

00:35:40

I mean, it's like a whole— it's like a whole tweet thread saying that— I'll give the SparkNotes version.

00:35:46

Can you just explain it?

00:35:47

I'll do the SparkNotes version of it.

00:35:48

Okay.

00:35:49

Yeah.

00:35:49

Because you can't— according to this, according— I can read.

00:35:52

I just—

00:35:53

I just read for your fucking book for an hour.

00:35:56

You're in the book too, buddy. Also, you're fucking— well, also, also, if your portion took an hour, then that proves you cannot read.

00:36:05

It took me like 20 minutes.

00:36:06

Okay.

00:36:07

It was scheduled for an hour though.

00:36:10

Yeah, because it said Max can't read.

00:36:14

Read. Actually, I actually fucked up a couple of times. So this is all according to—

00:36:21

Is this you reading? No. Oh, okay.

00:36:22

Can you tell me what the tweet thread is? Max, I'll just pull up the tweet thread. I'm going to look up— Go, Max, go!

00:36:29

AJ Brown. No, no, no. I want to hear what he said.

00:36:31

I just want to verify.

00:36:32

I want to see what he says. Go ahead.

00:36:34

Sorry, this is all according to a burner on Twitter that posted this like 10-tweet thread about exactly why there was beef in the, in the Eagles locker room.

00:36:44

He—

00:36:45

a Eagles like insider Instagram account posted an Instagram screenshotting every single one of these tweets. Brandon Graham liked that tweet, liked that Instagram, and then CJ Gardner-Johnson Yesterday morning woke up and tweeted, can you believe that we still won a Super Bowl with all this drama that went on?

00:37:06

Okay.

00:37:07

So AJ Brown, according to allegedly, this is all allegedly, AJ Brown was hooking up with a masseuse. Then Hassan Reddick started hooking up with that same masseuse without AJ Brown knowing that Hassan Reddick was hooking up with the same woman.

00:37:24

What do you mean hooking up with a masseuse? AJ Cleveland Brown is what I'm hearing.

00:37:31

Like Deshaun Deshaun type stuff. It was—

00:37:34

it seemed to be a consensual relationship between the masseuse, whatever. They both were consensual relationships. It seemed to be.

00:37:41

With a team masseuse.

00:37:42

Jalen Hurts found out that Hassan Reddick was also hooking up with this same masseuse. AJ Brown found out about Hassan Reddick, got super pissed at Hassan Reddick. The Eagles then had to trade Hassan Reddick to the Jets. AJ Brown also found out that Jalen Hurts knew that Hassan Reddick was hooking up with the AJ Brown— the person that AJ Brown was involved with. And he was so angry about the entire situation that he blamed Jalen Hurts just as much as he blamed Hassan Reddick because he thought he was his best friend. And that his best friend should have told him and that Jalen Hurts didn't want to get involved with off-the-field things like that. So that's why AJ Brown was pissed at Jalen Hurts.

00:38:28

Okay.

00:38:30

And all of this was going down during the Super Bowl year.

00:38:33

Yes.

00:38:34

Yeah.

00:38:35

Big Cat, this is all alleged.

00:38:37

Now, what I'm about to say, I don't want to say, but it's something that I think they will be wondering in their be like, hey, why didn't you ask this to Max? Where's Big Dom in all this? Isn't this—

00:38:52

Big Dom kept this out of the media until after AJ.

00:38:53

That's true. But he's got to get— he's got to get all 3 guys in a room and just squash the beef, guys.

00:38:58

Big Dom was able to get a Super Bowl.

00:39:00

That's true. All right. That's good.

00:39:02

All of this happened and they still won a Super Bowl.

00:39:04

Big Dom.

00:39:05

So in this circumstance, it's— I don't think it was a team masseuse. I think it was like—

00:39:10

I never said it was a team.

00:39:10

Yeah, I know. I was asking the question. I was reading more about it. It does not look like it was a team masseuse to catch.

00:39:16

All right. So that's that. Big Dom can't have anything to do with that. He can't.

00:39:19

It's not his fault. He can't be glued to AJ Brown's shoulder at all times. Now, if, if he's catching feelings about this masseuse, that sounds like it was more than just a masseuse-client relationship. It sounds like maybe this was—

00:39:35

No, I think feelings for— Yes, I think this was like a, a real relationship.

00:39:40

And then, and then Jalen Hurts knew about it. And, and he— so then AJ Brown felt embarrassed that it felt like all of his friends knew about it except for him.

00:39:49

Yeah.

00:39:50

And then he's mad at Jalen. I, I could see that.

00:39:52

Yeah. It's also—

00:39:54

and then he goes to the Patriots who have had no masseuse scandals in their past.

00:40:00

Hank, this is like the biggest nothing story I've ever heard.

00:40:05

Well, they also won a Super Bowl. Yeah. Like, who cares? That's the part that you can look at.

00:40:09

Breaking news: professional sports teams has guys hooking up with the same girl and there's drama in the locker room.

00:40:14

Oh, you're going to talk about our favorite teams and drama with between hooking up?

00:40:21

No, he's— he's having your back, Max. Oh, can't read.

00:40:27

I don't think he's having my back at all. Yeah, he is. He's having AJ Brown's.

00:40:31

No, he's saying this story is a nothing burger.

00:40:33

Max also has a hard time reading with his ears.

00:40:35

Yeah, he's, he's saying it's a nothing burger. He's saying that this happens in every locker room in America.

00:40:41

I don't know about what happened. What AJ Brown did the past couple years has not happened in every locker room in America. Not a wide receiver, one who's had 3 All-Pros, been to 2 Super Bowls, won one, does not pull the antics that AJ Brown did last year. That does not happen in every locker room in America.

00:40:57

I mean, Max, it's sad to see what a fake friend you are. You were saying the nicest things about AJ Brown until a week ago, and now it's like, oh, this guy, the antics. AJ Brown was right about a lot of stuff that he was saying about that offense. Also, like, if Jalen Hurts AJ Brown are best friends.

00:41:13

Like, if your best friend knew that and you didn't tell you, like, you'd be mad too.

00:41:17

Yeah, yeah. Jalen Hurts was— he broke bro code.

00:41:21

Yeah, I'm, I'm, I'm just saying what happened. It just explains a lot more of what— this makes a lot of sense for a lot of things that didn't make sense over the past 2 years. Am I wrong?

00:41:33

Like, no, you're right.

00:41:34

I'm just saying, if I was an Eagle, I would make sure my masseuse stayed far away from Jalen Hurts.

00:41:38

Also very alleged. I don't know if any of this is is actually true, but it makes a lot of sense.

00:41:44

Okay. So and then he also admitted to— AJ Brown did admit to leaking negative Eagles stories. Is that true?

00:41:53

Yeah, I guess that was his way of trying to motivate the team.

00:41:57

Yeah. Good guy. Like I said, leadership.

00:41:59

Yeah. I mean, Meebs kind of did the same thing the other day.

00:42:02

It was done—

00:42:02

Zach—

00:42:03

it was done purposely to give us a push. It gives everything legs to push everybody to be better. Yeah. I feel like it was okay to do.

00:42:09

Yeah. Memes leaked negative stories about Zach trashing him. Mm-hmm. Got us all together. Yeah. Yeah. Play very mean of you, but yeah. Okay. Well, it's crazy. It's crazy. You guys won a Super Bowl.

00:42:28

Yeah. Also shout out the team for keeping that in-house until after he got traded because getting that, getting that first round pick.

00:42:37

Yeah, true.

00:42:38

If that was like a, like a real story that happened before the trade got announced, would have been tough. It would have been tough to get.

00:42:44

Or maybe they found out that's why they didn't get the 2029 first round pick, right? The more—

00:42:49

the one that I wanted, right?

00:42:50

Yeah, right. Max, now that it's all well and good that you're saying all this, but also I think that you owe me and Big Cat an apology. Yep. A big apology.

00:42:57

Yep. For what?

00:42:58

For being right about this entire dynamic, asking you every week if everything was okay, and you're like, yeah, it's fine.

00:43:04

What am I gonna say? What do you want me to say?

00:43:05

Well, now like everything was so messed up between the two of them.

00:43:09

Yeah, you should have said—

00:43:10

I apologize to the listeners for lying to them.

00:43:13

Yeah. And if you want to know what you should have said, Max, you should have said, hey, I'm starting to think that maybe Hasan Reddick and AJ Brown were fucking the same masseuse and Jalen Hurts knew and didn't tell AJ Brown, and that's why they hate each other. That's what you should have said.

00:43:25

Maybe that's what I should have said.

00:43:27

But you didn't say it. Say everything was fine.

00:43:32

So Reddick's a piece of shit, by the way.

00:43:36

Oh, all right. I had a couple other things. One, just because it's— did you guys see Brandon Johnson admit that he left the Bears-Packers game early? What a fucking idiot. Yeah. How do you get— how do you say that?

00:43:50

He— and he tossed it in like it was no— yeah, like, like a minor part of the story because he was talking about just like leaving Soldier Field, which obviously Soldier Field stinks to leave. Everybody knows that. You didn't have to say that you left early because you were losing.

00:44:03

The funniest part too is that I don't know if he specifically said which one, but both were both you couldn't have left early, right? Bears-Packers game in Chicago this year, you couldn't have left early.

00:44:14

That's true. And it— look, what if the Packers had said stop the count? Yeah, before all those strange scores started to appear in the second half, Brandon. Facts.

00:44:22

Um, and then listen, I— we love, we love them. Um, Peter Schrager, good friend of the show. I could do without, uh, whenever we get the, the fun nugget from an athlete getting traded somewhere and then we have the immediate So, so his tweet was, fun nugget on Miles Garrett's first day in LA. After the flight, after the press conference, after meeting everyone, it was time to wrap up a wild day. As they're packing up, Garrett pulls aside a Rams official and asks if he could go to the gym and do a full workout. Whoa.

00:44:52

Hey, you want to work out?

00:44:53

Hey, hey, the professional athlete wanted to work out. Fun nugget.

00:44:57

Hey, you know where there's some weights?

00:45:00

Shakes, we gotta have you back on and we gotta, we gotta talk about what a fun nugget it means. What it doesn't, because I expect the professional athlete to want to work out.

00:45:08

I also like when, I think it was TJ Watt's extension.

00:45:12

Yeah.

00:45:13

When he marched into the Steelers office, we made fun of that one too.

00:45:17

Yeah. It's like, yeah, no shit. These guys like to work out. I'd like to work out for a job.

00:45:21

I'd like to work out now, sir, if it's all right with you.

00:45:23

Yeah.

00:45:23

I'd like to do an extra long workout.

00:45:25

Yeah. When we signed Zach to, to Barceló, he said, Hey, can I, can I start cutting some clips and doing some podcasts? It was fucking amazing. I've never seen anyone do that before to get hired at a job and be like, can I start working?

00:45:40

It was amazing. The work ethic on this guy.

00:45:43

Yeah. Just once I want to hear the opposite story. Miles Garrett came to L.A. and then he did the whole press conference. He pulled the Rams official aside and said, hey, where, where the bitches at? I'm out of here. Yeah, I'm going to go party for the next week.

00:45:55

Anybody know where I can get a masseuse?

00:45:58

All right. Anything else that we have? I'm trying to think. Anything else? Oh, I think that's it. And then we'll get—

00:46:08

I did see a little cleanup. You know, we made a lot about the 9 vs. Kyler Murray relationship last week. There was an update on that. So Kevin O'Connell addressed it and he said the relationship between the two of them is actually very professional. Oh, nice. So that's what you— that's what you like to hear.

00:46:24

Yeah.

00:46:24

So which means that everything's fine. Yeah.

00:46:26

Oh, I had— I did have one last thing. Todd Monken, did you see his quote? He said on the Browns QB situation, we've got two starting-level quarterbacks. Which two?

00:46:39

Oh no, it's true.

00:46:41

Yeah.

00:46:41

First of all, it's true because Deshaun Watson has started.

00:46:45

Well, so is Dylan Gate— they actually have three.

00:46:46

They have three starting. Yeah, that's fair.

00:46:48

But I like this motivation tool. He's basically doing the, the, like the old prank. You get 3 pigs, you paint one number 1, one number 3, and you're like, where's 2?

00:46:58

We don't know which one, which 2 are the starting 2. I do think it's funny though that he's, he's trying the old coach technique of walking in and being like, every spot's up for grabs. Yep. You have to earn it. There's no such thing as a starter on this team. We don't know. It could be anybody. And he's thinking that that's going to be a good motivational tool for the quarterback position. As if there's one guy that thinks that, oh shit, I got to step up because I thought I was going to be the starter. Not anymore.

00:47:26

Open tryouts.

00:47:27

I think you have 3 guys that are like, oh fuck, Coach just took away my starting spot. Now I guess I have to go out there and earn it.

00:47:34

Yeah. Got to get— every job is up. Did you guys— have you guys played 82-0? I feel like it's— it was like a hard 12 hours. And now I also What?

00:47:46

I got it.

00:47:46

And then, and then, yeah. And then it's a game that basically someone realized on the internet, it's the old cliché. Guys just love to name dudes, like sit around and name dudes. It's a game that you're just trying to create a perfect basketball team. And then I think I tapped out when I saw a bunch of people try to piggyback and create for all the other sports. And then I saw soccer and I was like, I'm done.

00:48:08

Yeah, there's 20-0 for football. Basically, they're just trying to do what if What if Wordle but for sports?

00:48:13

Yeah, no, you're just naming dudes. Yeah. You're just clicking on dudes.

00:48:16

Instead of the Daily Sudoku, what if it was just like talking about Mark Lemke?

00:48:21

Yeah, listen, I did it last night for a while. I had a lot of fun, but I don't know if I'm going to keep going back and back to it.

00:48:27

I've done the football one a couple times. I'm more of a GeoSports guy myself.

00:48:31

GeoSports is awesome.

00:48:32

I like GeoSports.

00:48:32

That one has some legs to it.

00:48:33

Yeah.

00:48:34

That game feels like it could be fun for a long time.

00:48:36

Dudes love sports and dudes love maps.

00:48:38

Maps, yeah. Max is going real quick. All right, wait, wait, let's, let's do one together as a team real quick. Try to get 82-0.

00:48:45

My team is good right now.

00:48:49

Max is crushing it right now. Is he? He's crushing it.

00:48:52

Boston 70s. Hank, who you got?

00:48:53

John, we're gonna have to go with Havlicek.

00:48:55

What about McAdoo? Now it's got to be—

00:48:59

okay.

00:49:00

Ah, 75-7. All right, not bad.

00:49:02

Go to the football one. Let's go real quick.

00:49:04

What's the football?

00:49:04

20-20. And then do what? And then do Geo Sports.

00:49:09

I did see there was the— it's very funny, it's kind of a nice flex that they, they— it got so niche that, uh, our good friend Matt Jones, which by the way we're hosting Kentucky Sports Radio in a couple— not next week but the week after— they had a 40-0 Kentucky one that was just Kentucky roster players. And I did want— I, I didn't want to kick, you know, the hornet's nest, but I wanted to reply being you could just stop it with Sam Decker and Frank Kaminsky, but I didn't.

00:49:34

But I didn't.

00:49:35

Okay, here we go. Detroit 2022, uh, Jameer Gibbs, right? Goff? No, Amon-Ra. Amon-Ra. We're taking a wide receiver from Detroit 2021 to 2025. Flex. Oh, okay. Indianapolis 2006 to 20— probably Peyton Manning. That would be Peyton Manning.

00:49:51

We got a good—

00:49:52

that's our final answer. Peyton Manning. Miami 2021 to 2025, uh, Tyreek Hill. Tyreek Hill. Okay, this is a pretty good team, boys. We got a pretty good team going. San Francisco, 1984-1990. Jerry Rice. Jerry Rice. Okay, we need a tight end and a running back. Green Bay, 2006-2010.

00:50:12

This could be good.

00:50:13

Uh, Amon Green.

00:50:14

Show me the tight ends though.

00:50:16

Amon Green, Sir Michael Finley. Um, I think you got to call Amon Green.

00:50:21

Ryan Grant's better.

00:50:22

Yeah, Ryan Grant did have that If they're picking specific years. Okay, go Ryan Grant. We're boxed into a tight end.

00:50:31

Carolina. Is that Greg Olsen?

00:50:32

No. '99 to 2005. This guy had 12 touchdowns.

00:50:37

All right.

00:50:37

Put him on there. And we went—

00:50:40

20-0!

00:50:41

Whoa!

00:50:42

How the fuck did we go 20-0? That was so easy.

00:50:44

Ball number.

00:50:45

Wesley Walls was our last pick.

00:50:47

Good work, guys. Okay. Those receivers are a problem.

00:50:50

Those receivers are really, really good. I mean, Jerry Rice, Tyreek Hill, and Amon-Ra with Peyton Manning throwing it to them is pretty damn good. We have to admit. And that was great podcasting. Really good stuff. Hank, how'd you like that?

00:51:00

It was awesome.

00:51:02

If it was— if there was a fucking live golf, you know, go win, win the Beijing Classic, you would have done it.

00:51:07

You want to try Geo Sports? It's 5 questions.

00:51:11

I felt like that was good. I feel like that was good podcasting.

00:51:13

No, no, that was good podcasting. Okay, we're going to talk some Stanley Cup. Final and, uh, Caleb on the Madden cover. 00:53:22

Okay, it is, uh, 10:30 at night. We are back on Zoom because we had to talk about the Stanley Cup Final and what a Stanley Cup Final it's been through 2 games. The Carolina Hurricanes tie it up 1-1 off an incredible, I don't know, like 3 minutes of hockey where, not including the overtime where they win in overtime, but the early whistle on the Golden Knights with the puck going into the net. I don't know, I mean, it was clear the whistle happened before the puck crossed the line. Whether the whistle was, you know, premature, I don't understand that. Then the Knights Vegas challenge it, lose their challenge, Hurricanes power play, goal to tie it up, or sorry, to take the lead. Then the Knights tie it up with 2 minutes left. What an insane hockey game.

00:54:15

So the moral of this series so far has been 2-0 remains the most dangerous lead in hockey. You don't want to go up 2-0 in this series. Kiss of death if that happens. And the, the challenge I thought was pretty ballsy on Vegas's part, on Tort's part. They never overturned that call. I've never seen that call called, oh yeah, our bad. That was a goal. Sorry about that. Point at center ice. That never happens. But then to see what happened afterwards, one, I don't think, I don't think Marc Messier understands what happened still. I think he's still very confused about, about how that all went down. But I thought Whitney made a really good point, which was like, they do not respect the Hurricanes power play for challenging that.

00:54:57

And, and I think you challenge that when you're up 1-0, you know, and you took a road game. I don't think you challenge that if it's, you know, with 3 minutes left basically saying, hey, if we don't win this, we're going to go on a power play and maybe lose, go down 0-2. So it was, it was a ballsy challenge. It was like a, hey, let's just try to win this whole series right now. I'm happy that the Knights then tied it up because I didn't want the game to be decided by that because I do think it was a premature whistle. Like, yeah, it was the correct call to not give the Knights the goal after you see, you watch the replay and see the whistle. But the whistle was early and it felt like it was like, hey, thank God the Knights scored. So we went to overtime, we get justice. Hurricanes get back alive. What a series. And then, and then Tuesday night was incredible as well. It's been an awesome Stanley Cup Final to start. It's also been awesome ratings, PFT. So we can feel okay talking about hockey. 4.8 million people watched Game 1.

00:55:59

So don't cancel it yet.

00:56:01

That's good to know because I didn't know whether or not I should like hockey. But now that nearly 5 million people are watching, that's some good stuff. I did not realize that the Golden Knights are that much bigger than the Hurricanes, like physically. They— it looked like this. I mean, through 2 periods, I didn't think that the Hurricanes had it in them. It seemed like even though I think the shots on goal were probably pretty close, but Vegas seemed to be in control of this game. And it was a— if they go up 2-0 after 2 games on the road, I feel like that the series is over. Like the Cup is going to Vegas. So there's a must-win, must-win for the Hurricanes. And they did it also. They had a great, great crank to start.

00:56:45

Great crank. Great crank.

00:56:46

Cam Ward looks much different than I remember him last time I saw him, but he cranked the fuck out of that siren.

00:56:53

He really did.

00:56:54

I don't think I've seen a man crank off that hard in a long time. So Vegas has their work cut out for them if they want to keep up with that. But yeah, great hockey game.

00:57:03

Awesome game. By the way, shots were 26 to 26 in that game. So yeah, it felt like it. And it really did. With 10 minutes left or whatever, whatever it was, I can't remember the exact time that the Hurricanes scored their 2 goals, but like it felt like the series is over. We felt like we were gonna watch just, you know, just give them the cup right now because you're gonna go back to Vegas and they had just been dominating. Now we have a series, boys, and it feels good to have a little bit of a series.

00:57:32

How does, have we heard an update on McNabb?

00:57:36

I don't know, but that was one of the nastiest. He ate it. He literally ate a puck.

00:57:42

I think it went into his mouth. I think it like—

00:57:44

yeah, his mouth, his nose.

00:57:46

Then he coughed and then it came back up like in a cartoon. I saw that he went to the hospital maybe, so, um, I hope he's okay. But that was— it reminded me of, um, Carlson one time from the Caps took a slap shot to the side of the head and his helmet like went into his head and severed his temporal artery. And so they had to, like, take him to the hospital and get that stitched up. I hope there was no— like, there was definitely some blood, but I hope it wasn't serious for McNabb because that was— that was a gnarly shot right to the face.

00:58:17

Temporal artery sounds like a pretty good, like, sushi roll.

00:58:20

Yeah.

00:58:22

So maybe a little deep fried. Yeah. But yeah, hockey's been awesome. We'll have one of the boys on next week to break it all down, to explain to us what we're watching. But yeah, it's been— and the crowd has been incredible. Like, that was— to watch it kind of shift as the game goes and them getting— the Hurricanes get back in the game and then just score right off the power play from the challenge. It felt like the roof was going to come off that barn, and it was— it's fucking awesome. Uh, credit to the NHL, you put on a good product. Way to go. Yep, way to go, boys. Um, all right, the last thing— Caleb Williams officially Madden cover. That happened on Wednesday morning. Uh, cool cover. I'm pumped for Caleb. I know there's a lot of people who are very upset about it, but that's okay. That was gonna happen no matter what unless you put like—

00:59:16

very upset about, about this. I want to have a word with somebody who's very upset about the Madden cover.

00:59:20

Okay. There's a lot of people, if you just go open your eyes online, there were definitely a lot of people upset about Caleb Williams being on the COVID What do they want?

00:59:29

Who do they want instead?

00:59:30

Probably Stafford or, you know, I mean, which I get it. He was the MVP. I don't know. I don't know who else they want. And then there's the Madden freaks who are like, he's only a 90 overall. There's only, I think Vince Young was maybe the only other one who's been lower than that. And being on the COVID Whatever. He's, he's electric and I think he's a good young ambassador for the game. Obviously I'm biased, but we went to the Madden event tonight and it was, it was a lot of fun. PFT, do you think people still do? You think there are people who like— there are a lot of people who still hate Caleb Williams.

01:00:09

I just didn't see anybody that was mad about it and I was trying to put myself in the shoes of somebody that would get angry about somebody being on the Madden cover, and I was having a hard time, uh, making myself feel insane enough to do that.

01:00:21

I— yeah, I— listen, people are passionate about Madden. There are definitely some people who are upset about Caleb Williams being on the COVID Zach, you saw it.

01:00:30

It covered—

01:00:30

cover Madden's like a contentious thing. Like, there's, there's guys who say things they have no business saying over the COVID of which athlete's going to be on Madden. Yeah, not to say that's right or wrong, but definitely a discourse on that.

01:00:41

Yeah, I mean, listen, I, I think any, anyone who's on the Madden cover is probably going to get some criticism, but Caleb also is a little bit of a lightning rod. I think that's fair to say, wouldn't you? Wouldn't you guys agree?

01:00:51

Yeah, yeah, there are a lot of people that, that don't like them.

01:00:54

Yeah, so, but we went to the Madden event. Zach crushed it. He got to talk to a bunch of guys, um, got to talk to Caleb. It was a lot of fun. Zach, what was your big takeaway?

01:01:05

That was a lot of fun. Uh, big takeaway, uh, kid was very charismatic. Uh, the, the mascots too, love seeing those guys. They were running the gauntlet, didn't see that coming. That was pretty sick. Uh, yeah, honestly, it was, uh, it was kind of packed in there. They had to get— they had the game ripping on one side and they just kind of had guys coming in and out, just kind of flowing. Everybody's talking mad and talking ball. It was a good time.

01:01:25

Yeah, which of the mascots were there?

01:01:29

Um, Otto was there. Bucky was there, uh, the Spartan, Michigan State Spartan. I think Indiana's mascot was there, uh, who else was there, Zach?

01:01:41

Uh, we had everybody that ran the gauntlet. Badger was there.

01:01:44

Yeah, pretty, uh, pretty beat.

01:01:47

Yeah, I think that's most of who was there.

01:01:49

Yeah, Albert the Alligator. Um, it was a good time. The— so yeah, Zach interviewed a bunch of guys, did a great job. Wasn't nervous. Well, he was nervous, but he was— he was— he asked good questions. The question of the night, though, that I wanted to share with you guys, and thank you to EA for inviting us because it's a lot of fun. The question of the night was White Sox Dave basically chased down Michael Vick as he was walking across this like turf field they put in Navy Pier. And Vick was like, yeah, what's up? Like, and he's like, hey, can I ask you a couple of questions? And White Sox Dave tried to ask him about his greatest game ever. I think it was the Monday Night Football game. And White Sox Dave accidentally said, you know, your greatest game ever, the Monday Night Football game in 2008. And Michael Vick was like, bro, I was doing something different in 2008, referring to him being in prison. Yeah.

01:02:45

2008 was not a good year for Michael Vick at all. What year was that? Was that 2011? 2010?

01:02:52

I was thinking it was 2010, but it was just Vick handled it very well. But it was just very funny that White Sox, he was like, do you remember your best game ever in 2008? And Vic was just like, nah, dude, I was not playing ball then.

01:03:05

Unless there was like a longest yard type situation that was going on at the time, in which case I'm sure that would've been electric to watch. But no, I've blocked most of that game out of my memory. It's too painful to even think about.

01:03:18

Yeah. Yeah. But it was, it was a good night and yeah, EA, the games look awesome. I'm excited for college football to come back. By the way, Zach, I know you've been thinking about it, but like, we have to win a national championship before the new game comes out.

01:03:32

Yeah, we can't skip one. We gotta, we gotta lock this in before the game comes out. We're running out of time, really. Like, it's coming up. We gotta either get it done or— ah, yeah, we, we were so close. We were so close last time.

01:03:45

I had a guy from EA come up to me and he was like, you excited for the new game? I was like, yeah, except— and he's like— and he finished my sentence. He was like, yeah, you haven't won a national in the last one. I was like, fuck, man, that's disheartening. That's tough. Yeah.

01:03:57

How far did we make it?

01:03:59

Uh, I made it to the— did we make it to the championship game, Zach? Yes. So maybe next week we gotta— we just gotta do it with Oregon. I feel like Sadiq—

01:04:09

yeah, if we just put the ball in Sadiq's hand, I think we can get it done.

01:04:11

He's our best.

01:04:12

He's our best chance.

01:04:12

The tank.

01:04:13

Yeah. So how was the dap with Caleb? Were you nervous going into it? Did you practice? Did you rehearse it?

01:04:19

No, um, no, I mean, I, I just said what's up to him. I mean, I— there was a couple of them. There was a goodbye one and a hello one. Yeah, it was, it was totally normal. I mean, we met him before, so—

01:04:30

yeah, but the dap was like 3 stages. Was it crisp? What was it?

01:04:34

Yeah, it was good. It was just a little half hug.

01:04:37

Um, yeah, because Zach did something that shocked me the other day with the dap, which is upon like clasping hands and slapping, he turns it immediately into a finger gun, like as he's holding your hand. And that, that will intimidate somebody. That was a shocking move on Zach's part.

01:04:57

Maybe like a point, maybe not a weapon, maybe just like a point. And if it, if it was a weapon, it wasn't loaded, so nothing to worry about there.

01:05:05

That's good. Yeah, no, I, I mean, Caleb's the man, and we've— yeah, we've met him, so I didn't think it was gonna I wasn't too nervous about it. And he was very, very nice. And I mean, listen, I went up, we went up to him, said what up. And I was like, hey, I got a couple of guys who got questions for you. And I sent him Zach and White Sox Dave. So he deserves all the credit in the world for standing in the pocket on that one. And then he had to talk to, and then he had to talk to Jay. So like, Caleb should win a Nobel Prize for having me sending a wave. Zach, you're probably not in this, but sending a wave of White Sox Dave and Jay. At someone, that's borderline torture.

01:05:44

Did you have a favorite question, Zach, on the entire evening or to Caleb?

01:05:52

To Caleb.

01:05:53

I thought Eddie had a very good question when he asked about the Summer Smash because we got a little sneak peek into what Caleb's been listening to. He said a lot of Chief Keef, a lot of Sexy Red. Nice. I couldn't answer that one, but it was a great question.

01:06:04

Fantastic question. What about your favorite question of the night?

01:06:07

Uh, it was fun. Uh, talked a little bit of fishing with Michael Vick and also talked a little bit McDonald's with, uh, Ochocinco.

01:06:13

Oh, hell yes! Did you tell him your order?

01:06:16

I didn't tell him mine, I got his. And then we, we had him quick, so it was in and out.

01:06:21

That— I showed up late, so that's— I wish I had been there for that because I would have made you say your order.

01:06:27

He, he had some solid orders. He's going filet-o-fish for lunch, a little oatmeal for breakfast. He's doing the hot cake platter too.

01:06:32

I, I— listen, I had McDonald's my kid's last day of school today. We got McDonald's as a treat. It's fun. It's a great time. Max, why did you keep picking your ears during this, this, uh, recording? Do you have something in your ears?

01:06:48

I don't know, man.

01:06:50

Did anyone notice that? He just had like a full thing down his ear halfway through the pen.

01:06:57

I thought it was a Q-tip.

01:06:59

When you're talking, sometimes the ADD kicks in. He just— he's liable to—

01:07:04

I didn't even know that I did that.

01:07:06

I did it.

01:07:07

I get to— I need to be doing something at some point when nothing's happening, so I just start doing things.

01:07:15

You were fucking your ear for a second there. Like, that's not something that you— someone's like, hey, I'm— I need to be doing something. Let me, let me go put P and E live on a show.

01:07:29

I'm not— I'm not— I was not live.

01:07:31

Was that a pen?

01:07:33

Life is—

01:07:34

you penetrated yourself.

01:07:35

You are live, Max.

01:07:37

I am— I, I may as well have been backstage. I didn't— I was saying nothing.

01:07:41

You're live right now.

01:07:43

But that's because I was forced to be live.

01:07:46

Yeah, because you fucking put a pen halfway through your brain.

01:07:50

That's not true.

01:07:51

Okay, all right, all right, Max, you're a big hockey guy.

01:07:56

You break down what happened to Stanley Cup Final tonight.

01:08:01

The Flyers are out.

01:08:05

Fact. Max, I'll give you one, one sports question.

01:08:09

Have you—

01:08:10

you're a big baseball guy. Have you ever seen anyone lose the ball in the lights like PCA tonight?

01:08:15

PCA. I do have something with PCA. He has turned into like the most hated guy on baseball Twitter. And I don't really understand.

01:08:23

Like, it's crazy.

01:08:25

He's turned into the new Aaron Judge. But like Aaron Judge makes sense because like it's like the Red Sox fans doing like, oh, and Aaron Judge hits a walk-off home run into the night and it's a strike 3. PCA is the new Aaron Judge of like people love to shit on PCA when he does something bad.

01:08:42

People despise him. And now PCA is like he has had quotes and he, that's part of his personality, which I love. Like he likes to antagonize, but it's crazy how much people hate him and they won't post that he had, he had the walk-off tonight. He had the walk-off hit. So he, the Cubs came back and finally won a game, but it was, I was at the game. I've never seen it. Like he had no idea where the ball was inside the park. Home run is so demoralizing too.

01:09:08

I think the lights at Wrigley are tough to play on. But I don't know.

01:09:14

Usually the guys see it like at the last second and they'll miss it. Like it was, it was 20 feet past him.

01:09:20

I don't even know if he, it looked like he wasn't watching the play when it happened. It, it was like, oh shit, the ball's in the air. I have, I got no idea where this is.

01:09:28

Was anybody else out there helping him out? Like, hey, like pointing at it?

01:09:32

No, it was, it was like, it just dropped. It dropped so, so far deep behind him. Like no one, Like they kind of had a play at the plate for the inside part of the home run. It was crazy. But then he had the walk-off and he had a home run. So listen, they won't, they won't post your, uh, winning, your wins. They'll only post your losses. That's how it works. Yep. Um, okay, let's get to, uh, Wyndham Clark. Awesome interview with Wyndham Clark and then Fyre Fest on the other side.

01:11:56

Okay, we now welcome on a very, very, very, very special guest fresh off of the CJ Cup Byron Nelson victory. It is Wyndham Clark. Wyndham, thank you for joining us. Let's start with, uh, with, with your win a week and a half ago. You shot a 28 on the back 9. That's insane. Have you had a second to be like, what the fuck was that? Like, Were you in the zone? You had to have been in the zone.

01:12:23

Yeah, I think, I think that was the definition of the zone. I didn't even know what I was shooting. I just kept making putts. And next thing I looked up and I'm like, holy smokes, I shot 11 under.

01:12:34

Yeah.

01:12:34

Yeah. I actually just read some discourse online the other day. I don't know if you saw this, but there were people saying that's an unwritten rule amongst PGA players, that if you're playing at an away course like a random country club that you're having a round at, and you're shooting like you did on the back 9, that it's bad form to set the course record there, that a lot of guys will like pull up on the last couple holes or just bow out. JT, for the record, said, fuck that, I would try to smash every course record that I can. Um, is that an actual unwritten rule of the PGA Tour, or is that guy just making stuff up?

01:13:06

I think that guy's making stuff up. There are some courses like Cypress, for, for instance, um, that's one of those courses. I think the course record's 64. I've been like 10 under through 13 holes there, and then you kind of like, you know, hit one in the water or stop counting score or something and say, yeah, I shot 65, so that you don't do it. But on tour, screw that. I want to beat everybody. I don't even care about that stuff.

01:13:32

Yeah, I guess, I guess that's what I was getting. Obviously in a tournament you want to set every course record that you can, um, but like, so if you're at Cypress, you were just saying that you would, you would intentionally not get get the course record there if you were playing there for fun?

01:13:44

Yeah, I mean, that place— there's a few places that you would do that, but then, I mean, there's like less than 4 I can think of outside of that. You would just— yeah, you try to shoot the course record, especially in an iconic place. Yeah, you want to be on the— you want to be on the board. Everyone goes, oh, course record shot by Windham.

01:14:00

Is that just out of respect for the course, or what is it about those 4 places that you would pull up? Because I, I actually— I think the same thing.

01:14:06

Like, whenever I play, I'm like, I don't Yeah, that's what I'm going to start doing.

01:14:09

I'm not going to make it about myself.

01:14:10

Yeah, I was, I was shooting the course record, then I intentionally tried to hit it in the water. Yeah.

01:14:15

Wait, so you guys have shot course records?

01:14:17

Well, no, because we respect— yeah, I respect the tradition.

01:14:20

Yeah, you don't respect, we respect.

01:14:22

Okay, so on like the third hole, you respectfully hit it in the water?

01:14:26

Correct.

01:14:26

Correct.

01:14:27

Like, if I get a par on the first hole, then I'll be like, I'm kind of on track to be like in striking distance of the course record, so I'll just, I'll, I'll shoot a double on the second one. I respect—

01:14:37

that's smart. I respect Yeah, I respect courses so much I won't even, I won't even flirt with a course record.

01:14:43

I guess you guys respect the game more than me.

01:14:45

Yeah, that's a fact.

01:14:46

But good on you.

01:14:47

Yeah, good on you. What are those 4 courses that, that you would respect so much to not, not shoot a course record?

01:14:53

I think, well, for sure Cypress is one of them. Um, you know, I, I think a place like Pine Valley, um, I'm trying to think of other ones, like maybe a National in New York. Kind of like those OG and— or even like, uh, a St. Andrews, just because it was designed so long ago and it was built for maybe that technology in that day. And I think that's why it's a big deal that they're like, hey, it's kind of the course record because in whatever year Bobby Jones shot this score and that was the best ever.

01:15:24

I don't know.

01:15:25

I mean, you asked me, I think, yeah, who cares.

01:15:29

Yeah.

01:15:29

All right, so, so you're in the zone in this back nine, shooting 28. So your caddie doesn't tell you like, hey man, 'Just heads up, you're fucking crushing it,' like, or you're just like, 'Hey, we just got to keep rolling.' Yeah, no, he better not, better not tell me that.

01:15:43

The last thing a caddie wants to do in that, in those moments, is get in your way. So we really— the best thing for a caddie is to just be like, 'Do the same thing over and over again.' And then one other thing is to kind of like keep you distracted from the score. So you get focused in on a shot, and then like right afterwards he goes, 'Oh, look at that, that's a cute girl over there,' and then you just kind of like lose track of what's going on, and then you come back to the, to the present. So that, that's kind of what a good caddie does, rather than being like so intense and then you're looking at leaderboards, next you know you're making bogeys or whatever.

01:16:14

Yeah, I'd make a terrible caddie because I definitely would have been like, hey, just a heads up, dude, don't blow this, you're fucking killing it right now.

01:16:21

Well, good thing you're behind the mic instead of on the back.

01:16:23

Yes.

01:16:24

Yeah.

01:16:24

All right, so you win it. Um, listen, we're, we're transparent journalists here, uh, high-level journalism we do on this show. We have to talk about your quote, um, open up some grape. What was going— is that something you say routinely? I'll give you a— I'll give you a breakfast ball here. I'll give you a mulligan if you're like, hey, that's not something I usually say, it just came out. Yeah, I get it, it's weird. Is that something you say?

01:16:52

Well, it was definitely— it's something I say, but it also in, in the moment I didn't You know, sometimes I'm like, is this PC to say that we are just gonna get absolutely schlossed?

01:17:03

And you can say that.

01:17:03

Yeah, you can say that.

01:17:04

That's way better.

01:17:05

What you just said, you should have said we're gonna get white girl wasted.

01:17:09

Yeah, but I don't know about that. I was gonna say vino and then I was like grape. I mean, sometimes you just want some good grape, you know?

01:17:15

Yeah, I think we got to get that out of the lexicon. I don't know.

01:17:19

Do you find yourself saying in vino veritas and like having a, a satisfied chuckle a lot? I've never said that. Okay, good, that's good.

01:17:27

Normally I just say, let's get fucked up.

01:17:29

Okay, there we go, that works. Or, or here's, here's one, and this might be crazy, you might be like, that's way too nuts to say, but like, what about, I'm gonna go drink some wine?

01:17:39

I mean, do— would you want to go party with me if I said, let's have some wine?

01:17:42

Well, I would definitely more than open up some grape.

01:17:46

Yeah, but then you'd be intrigued, like, what's this grape he's talking about? Let's go see what's going on.

01:17:50

Okay, all right, let's talk about it because it seems like you're a man that knows his grape Grape. So what, what varietals are we talking about when you're saying I'm gonna open up some grape?

01:18:00

I mean, it is old world Italian or French, and you're getting as bougie as it gets, and you're getting white girl wasted.

01:18:06

Okay, okay, all right, yeah, all right, I'm coming, I'm coming back around to the open up some grape. But when I saw it, we did trash you on the show a little bit because we're like, that— what was that? What, what, what even—

01:18:17

I— you know what, here's the thing is, if I just said I'm gonna drink some wine, you wouldn't be talking about it. So I said, oh, we have some great— look at this, any press is good press, right?

01:18:25

Yeah, you might get, uh, uh, like wine sponsorship out of it too.

01:18:29

Yeah, maybe not, but, uh, maybe buy a grape juice company or something.

01:18:33

Yeah, make some transfusions, whatever you need.

01:18:36

Welch's is great.

01:18:37

Yeah, yeah, you got some— yeah, what if you just pull out some fruit snacks right after?

01:18:40

Actually, I was talking about transfusions, not wine.

01:18:43

Yeah, yeah, there you go.

01:18:44

There you go. That would be, that would be a good one. Are you a, uh, are you a superstitious guy when it comes to golf?

01:18:49

I'm a little stitious. I'm not superstitious.

01:18:51

What are your superstitions?

01:18:55

Um, okay, one of them is I black out the number on the ball because I don't want it— like, let's say you birdie the first 4 holes and you're using like a number 2 ball, right? And then your caddy throws you a new ball and it's a 3. You're like, I'm gonna throw off the mojo. So I black out all the numbers so I don't know. I also believe if a ball is hot keep the ball hot even if it's messed up. I just keep— like the back nine. Yeah, I didn't change a ball, um, in at the Byron Nelson even though it was like torn to pieces. And I was like, it doesn't matter, this ball knows where it's going and it's going home. Yeah, so that's probably one of them. And then more just like routines. I do the same routine all the time, but you know, it's nothing like I don't wash my underwear or wear my socks inside out kind of thing, right?

01:19:40

Yeah, the routine that's more like good golf. And I, I saw you talking about your driver and figuring out that element of your game. If you're— I'm not very good at golf, but I do like to play. I find myself when I tee off, if I hit a bad tee shot, my next tee shot, I mean, I try to change what I just did wrong after that first one. Do you— if you like leak a couple to the right on your first couple tee shots, are you then trying to actively like correct for that on your next shot? Are you just trying to go back to zero, back to what your normal everyday stock shot is.

01:20:12

Yeah, no, I mean, for sure. If you slice the first 2 balls, you're like, okay, what am I doing? And then let's say you're thinking about it and you try something different on now the 3rd shot and you still slice it. There comes a point where you're like, all right, I just got to play the slice today. But there's also sometimes where the front 9 you hit it like crap and then you find like a good feeling or whatever, and then on the back 9 you stripe it. So that's the one good thing about— I'd say at this level, so many guys are able to adjust on the fly. And whether that's they fix their swing mid-round or they just say, screw it, I'm slicing it today, I'm going to play the slice.

01:20:44

Yeah, yeah. Fixing it mid-round, that's because you can over-fix and you can go the opposite way, and now you've got a new problem to solve, and then you, you're just in hell for that. At that point, you got to open up some grape at the turn and just try to like wipe the memory.

01:20:58

Yeah.

01:20:59

And move forward.

01:20:59

I, I can't say I've ever had some— I've never had wine on a golf course. Okay, it's always been— it's always been John Daly's or Mark's or something. Yeah, it's never been— I think wine kind of puts you to sleep, right?

01:21:13

Yeah, why not? A golf course would be weird.

01:21:15

I don't make Franzia golf bags.

01:21:16

Yeah, I got a dumb question for you because you're talking about like, you know, fixing a shot in the tee box or, you know, working on your game. You obviously have coaches, you go through all this stuff, but is there ever a moment where you just like happen upon like a YouTube video or like an Instagram reel and you're like, oh, I should try this.

01:21:34

Oh, I am the worst at that, 100%. I buy more training aids.

01:21:39

That's awesome.

01:21:40

Off of Instagram or Amazon things. It, it's embarrassing. Like, I'll reach out to— it just happened, I reached out to this, uh, alignment company. They have these certain, uh, alignment rods with like a face thing, and I reached out, said, hey, I'd love to try this. And the guy's like, oh my gosh, is this actually you? I can't believe you want to try this. I, I do that stuff all the time. I just bought tees on Amazon on. Like, we get tees for free, but I thought these certain tees would be better. So yeah, we do that stuff.

01:22:04

Wait, I love— what are the tees? I want these tees.

01:22:07

Well, they're the kind of the ones Aaron Rye uses, but they're step tees, so they only go in the ground a certain amount, and they're the same every time. So for driver, it's always teed up the same, so you're not— you know, it's one less variable.

01:22:18

I like that. So that's very relatable of you because I, I just always assume with the amount of money you guys put into your game and the coaches you wouldn't fall for like the Instagram, you know, because once you get one of them, you just end up getting all of them. Like, I'm just in the algorithm where it's, it's every trick possible. And then a new box shows up at my house. I'm like, what? I don't even remember buying this.

01:22:40

Well, there's one constant in golf is all of us are messed up in the head. So what you guys deal with, we deal with, is just at a different level. So yeah, we see something that we think might help. I'm 100% trying it.

01:22:51

Yeah. And you said that you've been a— you're an equipment-free agent. And you said it's like a girlfriend and you've been dating a lot, but with golf clubs. So what's that like? Is that fun being out there or is it like kind of scary?

01:23:04

Well, it's just like when you first become single, it's a lot of fun. And then after a while you're like, man, I miss having my constant, you know.

01:23:11

Yeah.

01:23:12

Great, great person always there for you. So now I'm in that like I'm honed in. I like where I'm at. We're at home base. But for a while, yeah, it's fun to date around and see what's going on.

01:23:22

Did you have like a rebound club, like a wild one that you just want to try out because it just looked like it'd be fun?

01:23:27

Oh yeah. I mean, I tried every driver under the sun. I've tried every putter, multiple, multiple things. I, I would— I'd even know I was using this certain club, and then on like the Monday, Tuesday, I'd go flirt around with some other putters and then come back to home base, you know. So it's— you're always kind of, always kind of looking and seeing what's out there.

01:23:47

Okay.

01:23:47

Along those lines, this, this is also a dumb question, but, uh, you, you have a girlfriend and you hard launched your relationship. Is that something you talk about before? Like, hey, are we gonna hard launch? Or is it just, hey, you idiots, like, we've been seeing each other and we finally posted a picture, like, can everyone just relax?

01:24:05

Yeah, so it's funny in that she was like— I go, we're gonna, you know, you're gonna be catting for it. She goes, wow, this is like a big step, everyone's gonna know about us. And I said, yeah, I don't care, I'm crazy about you, let's— I, I don't care. And then I didn't realize how big of a deal it is to hard launch. Yeah, in general, and then let alone at the Masters. So So there was definitely some, you know, some good things and some backlash. And so, but, you know, we're— we were such a new relationship and it went so fast that everyone was like, what? I didn't even know you guys were even talking to each other.

01:24:36

That's because you should have soft launched. You should have soft launched.

01:24:40

What's a soft launch?

01:24:41

I think it's like you, like, uh, like in the background of a picture of hers, you know, and they're like, is that Wyndham Clark? And then it's the soft launch and then it's the hard launch.

01:24:49

I think it's a picture of you holding a— you know what it is? Is it's a picture of your grape. So you're out to dinner, you got your wine glass, and in the background there's a second wine glass.

01:24:59

Yeah. Yeah.

01:25:00

Oh, okay. I see that. Yeah, that makes sense.

01:25:03

Or it's like her, like having lunch and like there's just some random teas that might be Aaron Rye's or might be yours just sitting right next to her plate.

01:25:11

So people are like, is it Aaron Rye or is it Wyndham? We don't know.

01:25:14

Yeah, that's a soft launch. I just laugh every time I see a hard launch. I'm like, well, I, I guess they're just dating. Like, what's the big deal?

01:25:21

The hardest launch, I think, would be like if she was caddying for you in the par 3 tournament.

01:25:26

That's what he did, right?

01:25:27

Was it?

01:25:28

Was she?

01:25:28

Yeah. Wait, are you sure that is the hardest?

01:25:31

Yes.

01:25:31

I thought it was just a picture of you guys.

01:25:33

Yeah. No, you can't.

01:25:35

She was on your bag.

01:25:36

Yes.

01:25:36

You announced to the world.

01:25:37

Yeah.

01:25:38

On my bag. We kissed and we took a picture and posted it. I mean, it was about as hard as it gets, but I also wanted the world to know. Yeah. Just like the golf clubs. I'm off the market.

01:25:47

Yeah. No more flirting. Yeah. No more messing around. Yeah, yeah.

01:25:50

But because for our dumb brains, we think like you guys started dating on that day. Yeah, like that's day one for you, even though I'm sure you have a relationship that's been put in place. We're so stupid that we're like, oh, it's brand new girlfriend.

01:26:03

Well, it was maybe the second or third date, but I thought, you know what, might as well go big. And no, what a flex to be like, hey, uh, I got this little tournament going on in Augusta, you want to be on The best thing, the best thing about that is I told her she had to hit a shot, you know, and so she's freaking out, like practicing beforehand. And we get on the first tee because she's never really watched— she's not a golfer, she's never watched it. So we get on the first tee and I'm like, okay, your turn to hit. And like, you know, it's just lined with fans. And she goes, no, I'm not hitting, I, I'm gonna kill somebody. And then Gary Woodland and Keegan are like, no, Emily, it's your turn, you got to go hit. And she totally bought it. She's like, I'm not doing this. And, you know, obviously then we told her we hit on the 9th hole, but it was, uh, that it was a fun day. But yeah, she, she was freaking out because she thought she was gonna one, have a hard lunch, and then two, be on like not top 10 by killing somebody.

01:26:57

Yeah. Is it, is it, uh, cause we always talk about like different eras when it comes to sports. Like, I feel like this is the best time to be a golfer. Golfers are cool. Like, you know, 20 years ago Tiger was cool, but the other guys he was playing against weren't necessarily cool. But right now it feels like golfers are cool and got some swag.

01:27:15

I mean, I think so. What do you, what do you think? Am I kind of cool or—

01:27:18

Yeah, well, except for the grape thing.

01:27:19

Except for the grape thing.

01:27:20

Yeah, that was when we were like, I don't know about this guy, but other than that, you were, you're cool.

01:27:25

Okay, thank you. Yeah, I, golf is cool. I will say it's COVID helped, and then obviously now guys like Steph Curry and LeBron James and other like artists and rappers and celebrities are all doing it that everyone's like, oh, maybe golf's cool.

01:27:40

Hank Lockwood. Yeah, like all these guys. Yeah, what, you have— you seen him go lefty? He's going lefty. He's taking the world by storm. It's our producer.

01:27:49

I didn't know this.

01:27:51

Yeah, yeah, he switched up his entire game.

01:27:52

Yeah, he went righty his whole life and now he's just playing lefty for a whole year.

01:27:57

Some people might say that like he's been a left-handed golfer, it's just like kind of shocking that he was so dumb that he didn't realize he was left-handed until recently. I would not like to think he's just—

01:28:07

he perfected the game righty, he's like, I need a challenge.

01:28:10

No, we unfortunately, we know that's not the Yeah, uh, speaking of—

01:28:15

so you're talking about your, uh, your girlfriend hitting that shot, or lying to her about like, hey, yeah, now it's your turn to hit when the gallery's right there. I saw a video of you, I think it was at the PGA Championship, they brought the gallery like really close on one of your shots and you almost took somebody out. Like, it looked, it looked pretty dangerous for them. I've always wondered about that, like, do they just— what is it about golf galleries that make them think that they're invincible to golf balls? Like they stand so close sometimes to where you're gonna hit.

01:28:43

Yeah. Oh, it's, it's, it's insane. Now I will say, like, in that instance I had a lie that was— I don't think the people realized how bad it was. I mean, the ball went dead left. I've never hit a wedge dead left, and it was terrifying because I— people were 7, 8 feet from me and it could have taken someone's head off. But the craziest thing with us, we don't hit too many shanks and miss miss offline. But when we're on the Pro-Ams, people will treat the amateurs we're playing with as if we're tour pros, and they'll be like, make a tunnel. And I go, this guy literally— yeah, he's a 15 handicap, you don't know what he's gonna do. But yeah, I don't know, they just think we never miss, which is complete fallacy.

01:29:23

We miss all the time. Yeah, yeah. Can I play a little game with you real quick? Yeah, it's called, uh, hardest you've hit something. So tee shot, how— what's the— what's the farthest you've hit one, or hardest you've hit one?

01:29:33

Oh boy, I know where this is going. Um, I've hunt— or actually, this year I went like 430 on the 10th hole and in, uh, Tampa. Okay, hit a car path, but it went 430 yards. That was pretty hard.

01:29:47

Okay, what about, what about a 9-iron?

01:29:50

I don't know, like 180.

01:29:52

Okay, since you know where it's going, what about like a locker?

01:29:57

I knew where it was going. Yeah, I mean, I've hit one pretty hard multiple times.

01:30:06

Yeah, I don't know. By the way, we have— we have your— I know that golf, there's, there's a lot of rules and we get it. Like, you know, there's respecting the course stuff. I always laugh because like these guys are like insanely competitive, high stakes. Yes, emotions will sometimes spill over. Like that's part of— everyone has had a freak out before. Everyone's had a bad moment. I mean, you, you pieced up that locker.

01:30:32

Yeah, I mean, what I did was wrong, and I, I want to preface it with that. But, you know, if, if people are gonna say golfers are athletes, well, other athletes do that in other sports too. And that's, you know, I'm not saying it's a good thing, but the emotions get to us in our sport just as much as other ones. It was unfortunate that I did it, and then it was leaked and all that stuff, but But you know, it's the emotions. I, I don't know. I, I like to think that, you know, we, we care. We, we do. This is our livelihood. And I was frustrated and, you know, made a dumb decision. But at the same time, it's like, I care and I wanted to do well and I didn't. And, you know, we're in the limelight in golf. You can't show emotion, or that's kind of the stigma. And so I try to do it behind closed doors, and obviously it resulted in a terrible thing.

01:31:20

Listen, if you do it again, here's a little tip. Just show up to your next press conference with like a neck brace and be like, yeah, the locker fought back. Like, and then, and then everyone will be like, all right, I guess he learned his lesson.

01:31:33

I should have done that actually.

01:31:35

That's smart. Yeah. It's, it's like, uh, in a weird way, it's almost a sign of respect for the course. Like the course kicked my ass so hard that I had no choice but to physically fight it at the end. Yes, exactly. Like I'll see you in the parking lot course. Yeah.

01:31:51

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Maybe next time instead of hitting Locker, I'll like punch the bunker or something, you know?

01:31:56

Yeah, but, but seriously, I, I like— we— what happened, obviously you're embarrassed and you apologize, but like, this is sports. And also like, when we talk about sports and cover sports, people showing their human side makes it better in terms of the long run, where it's like, yeah, this guy's a regular guy. We all make— no one's perfect. I don't want the perfect athlete. I want the athlete who can be like, yes, some days I have bad days, some days I have great days, because the bad days make the great days even better.

01:32:22

Oh, 100%. I appreciate you saying that because, yeah, last year was terrible and what I did was terrible and it was just all in all a bad year. But then I get kind of the redemption and, and win and, you know, hard launch with my girlfriend. Yeah, I have— I'm a free agent with clubs and now I win a tournament. Things, you know, things turn for the better.

01:32:41

Things are going good. And now you've got— I mean I mean, last year it was tough. The, the, uh, Oakmont setup was, uh, it was rough for a lot of golfers. And then this year you've got Shinnecock for the US Open. It feels like they're like, this course is going to be out for blood. Have you taken mental reps of like losing a ball in like 3 inches of just dense-ass rough that's 1 foot off the fairway? Like, have you thought about how to handle what promises to be a really infuriating course that you're gonna have deal with.

01:33:12

Yeah, I've— instead of, uh, hitting lockers, I've worked on going to my car, getting in the car, turn on the keys, and driving away.

01:33:19

Nice.

01:33:19

That's what I've worked on.

01:33:21

Nice.

01:33:21

That's good.

01:33:21

Do you need any tips? I shot a 72 at Shinnecock.

01:33:25

Oh, no way.

01:33:26

Really? Well, no, you— I, I found this hack for golf. You should try it. You can shoot whatever you want. You just need a scorecard and a pencil.

01:33:33

Oh yeah, so you have a good eraser.

01:33:34

Yeah. No, I didn't even erase. I just, I just wrote down what I wanted.

01:33:38

I, I, I I thought I should have a 5 there, so I'm just gonna write a 5.

01:33:42

Yeah, no, I actually like— I think I, I quit on like 7 of the holes and, uh, just would just put, you know, par. And then at the end I added it all up and I had a 72. It's pretty nice.

01:33:53

You count the strokes you took, so if you took 4 shots and then you picked it up, that's a 4. Yeah.

01:33:57

Have you—

01:33:58

I wish we— I wish we could do that on tour. Yeah, that'd be nice. I'd shoot 59 or 60 every time.

01:34:03

Do you, uh, do, do you have a history with this course? Like, what has your game been like at Shinnecock?

01:34:07

Um, I've, I've never, uh, played a tournament there. I went, played actually the Sunday before Byron Nelson. Um, the golf course is very good, very tough. Um, yeah, I mean, it's gonna be like you said, a bloodbath in a different way than Oakmont. Oakmont was kind of high rough and, um, you know, really penal bunkers and really long. This course is maybe not as long, but the greens are like crazy epic, and you could hit it to 12 feet and you think, wow, what a shot, and guys might 3-putt because there's so much slope. So yeah, it's, it's gonna be definitely test people mentally for sure.

01:34:44

Is, is that a sneaky awesome part of being a professional golfer that you can play anywhere? Like you just have to call and, and you can play? Are there any places— you don't have to name names because we want to put them on blast— but are like, sorry, we know you're 'Uh, you know, a US Open champion, but we're not gonna let you play.' Yeah, um, I mean, definitely one of the best perks of being a pro is you can play essentially anywhere.

01:35:07

Um, that is, yeah, for sure the handwritten greatest thing. Um, there, let me think, there are some places that I'd have to play with a member where they're like, 'We can't just have you come out and play.' But then typically, if they, when they ask members like, 'Oh, so-and-so PGA Tour player wants to come out members were like, yeah, I'd love to play with them, right? So there really isn't a place you— we, we can't go, which is pretty cool.

01:35:31

That's awesome. What, uh, what are you thinking for this, uh, US Open?

01:35:35

What does success look like for me? It would be a lot of fairways and staying below the hole, um, at Shinnecock. And I tell you what, if I, if I have a chance to win on the back nine, that'd be success for me.

01:35:50

Just be in contention.

01:35:52

Just be—

01:35:52

there's nothing better than being in contention, especially at a major championship, and just being in those moments. You feel the intensity of the fans, the cameras, everyone's watching, and there's just nothing like it. It's so much fun, the adrenaline rush. And at that point, it's like you against your mind and being able to pull off the shots when you need to.

01:36:13

Yeah. And I, I read that you've got a new caddy, um, but this is more about your, your former caddy I believe our friend Max Homa has picked him up. Did, did Max call you? Like, is that a reference thing where it's like, hey, what do you think about this guy? And then, and then what do you tell him?

01:36:30

No, I actually, I had no idea. I mean, I found out kind of when everyone else found out, um, but you know, when John and I separate, you know, went separate ways, I just said, hey, I hope you get the best bag possible. Like there's no hard feelings if, if you're going to work with someone right away or if it's in 6 months or if it's never. And, um, so I'm happy for him. I mean, Max is one of my buddies. Obviously John's one of my closest friends, so I hope they have success.

01:36:56

Do you— is it like being in a relationship where like every now and then late at night you'll like scroll Max's Instagram pictures and just be like, oh, that's—

01:37:06

they look happy.

01:37:07

Yeah, he looks like he's doing okay.

01:37:09

Well, they haven't started yet.

01:37:11

Okay, they haven't started. They haven't hard launched yet. Event.

01:37:13

Yeah, they haven't hard launched yet. But what I will say, John caddied for Tony for like 4 weeks, and the first week we played where he was caddying and I was playing the event, I saw John over there and it was kind of like, oh dang.

01:37:25

Yeah, you know.

01:37:26

Yeah, man, he looks good. Yeah, yeah, he lost weight. Yeah, I, I miss that guy.

01:37:31

Yeah, like, I don't know if it's— if Max broke the code. I— a call would have been nice maybe, right? Like, hey, heads up, is it cool if I— like, we seem to hit off. Yeah, is that all right with you? You guys cool with that?

01:37:42

I'm not a sloppy seconds guy, but I'll treat him with respect.

01:37:46

No, no, no, it's Max. There's— yeah, he was fine. It's no big deal. Yeah, if he called, that would be, I think, above and beyond, and that would have just been— I would have been like, well, you didn't need to call, but it's no big deal, honestly. Yeah, it's great. I just hope they have success.

01:38:02

01:39:50

Where are you at with, uh, Brooks? Because he's one of our good, good friends. Are we good? Because we don't want to have to, to dead you, dude.

01:39:59

We've never been bad.

01:40:00

In my thing that I said, I even went up to Brooks. I was like, Brooks, I wasn't saying anything towards you. I was just saying more towards the Live guys. Brooks is my boy too. There's nothing, nothing bad with Brooks. Okay, I went up to him and I apologized. He's like, dude, I didn't even think twice about it. His caddy Ricky was like, we get it, like no big deal.

01:40:16

Yeah, I actually saw your comments. I didn't think anything either. You're just like, yeah, that like I wish I could have got a lot of money and then come right back too, like everyone does.

01:40:24

That's all he said. And I, I'm like, yeah, sorry, I, I'm jealous of him. I'm glad he went and got paid and now he has to come back and play, play against us.

01:40:32

Is that, is that an annoyance of like, you know, knowing that like when you're doing media, especially with the LIV stuff where it's like when that was hot Not every single thing gets completely microscope, like every comment, every face, like even guys' faces would get, you know, oh, look how he answered this question. That had to kind of suck for a little bit there.

01:40:51

Oh, for sure. I mean, we were on like, you know, everyone had stuff. We're like, don't say this, don't say that, you can't do this. And you're like, oh my gosh. And then after a while, some guys would just say it because they're like, I'm sick of talking about this. And, you know, some guys would even not even do pressers because they're like, I know what it's going to be about. I don't want to talk about it. I will say I have to, you know, thankfully for what they did, they helped all of us. I mean, our purses, golf's in a better spot. I mean, it's— yeah. So I'd say early on it bothered me a ton. And now obviously that maybe LIV isn't going to be anymore, like, I don't know. I think at the end of the day, it worked out how it was supposed to work out. And, and, you know, the PGA Tour and golf is going to really benefit from it.

01:41:38

Yeah, it's kind of like what, you know, we're big football fans, like the XFL when it came on the scene. Like, the NFL took some stuff from the XFL. Like, they got, you know, the, the spider cam and whatever. Like, there's things that were adapted. It's like, yeah, okay, the NFL got better from it.

01:41:51

Why did the PGA Tour take on the shorts though? Yeah, like, is that something you love? Do you want shorts?

01:41:57

No, I don't want shorts. It's like, imagine if baseball stopped wearing the, the, you know, the pants. It's just like what you wear, right? And I, I don't know, it's our uniform. We don't have a uniform in golf, but it's our uniform. And how are you supposed to tell a difference between, you know, Joe Schmo, the caddy, and us? Like, the pants are like— no one's gonna wear pants on a 100-degree day except for the tour pro because he's the— that's his uniform.

01:42:20

Yeah. What about the team aspect? Was there a LIV team that you found yourself like more gravitated towards? Like, were you a Four Aces guy?

01:42:27

I honestly, I would have been on Brooks's team. Brooks and I were boys, you know, Taylor Gooch and I went to college together. Like, I would have been on that team.

01:42:36

Smash.

01:42:36

Yeah.

01:42:37

Smash.

01:42:37

Yeah, we would have been smashing.

01:42:39

Yeah.

01:42:39

Yeah.

01:42:40

This is a random fact that I saw about you. You, you went to high school with Christian McCaffrey. You played on the same basketball team for a couple of years.

01:42:48

Yeah. So his brother and I were on the team together and then we played against each other growing up. We, um, the way it worked in high school is we weren't— when I quit basketball, he was a freshman.

01:43:00

Okay.

01:43:00

So we didn't actually play physically on the same team, but we had all the same friends. His brother's one of my good buddies. And which brother? We've known each other, Max.

01:43:08

Okay.

01:43:08

All right. So, so when you were in high school and he was coming up, was everyone like, this kid is just insane? I mean, obviously his dad, everyone knows, but still, like, he seems like a guy who is just a freak athlete from like 5 years on?

01:43:21

Oh yeah. So I didn't play football past 8th grade. My dad never let me play tackle, so I never really played against Christian. But in basketball, I remember we had halftime and like we came— I came out early and was just grabbing something and I sat on the bench to wait for some of the other guys. And I remember they let the kid, you know, in high school basketball, they let the kids come out and like shoot on the hoop during halftime. And Christian in like 7th or 8th grade was dunking, dunking the basketball. And I'm like, oh my God, you know, who is this kid? Yeah. So, and I knew, you know, I knew him at the time, but I was like, holy smokes. And then, uh, you know, and then as I was a junior, senior, and Christian was actually playing, I mean, he was the fastest, most physical guy on the court, whether he was a freshman or senior. And you could just tell, everyone knew. They're like, holy smokes, that guy's different.

01:44:10

Yeah. What about Luke McCaffrey? Were there any stories about Luke growing up like, hey, this guy might might even be a better athlete than Christian.

01:44:16

Well, Luke was so young, like, I mean, Luke was— when I was 16, Luke was 9 or 8, so we couldn't quite tell. But if you were to ask anyone kind of in the family, C-Mac and, and Luke were kind of the two best, best athletes for sure.

01:44:30

Yeah, yeah. Uh, Zach, do you have any questions for Wyndham?

01:44:34

How we doing, Wyndham? Uh, I did have a quick golf question. That was cool with you?

01:44:37

Yeah, of course.

01:44:38

Uh, you know, to maybe try to simplify the game for guys who don't have hardware like yourself If you were told like at your next major, look, listen gentlemen, only one club out the bag for the rest of the tournament, what are we reaching to for? Like, what's the go-to?

01:44:51

I mean, everyone kind of always says a 7-iron. One club. Yeah, I mean, you can hook a 7-iron, you can hit it soft. Yeah, I mean, a 7-iron, it's like the easiest club to hit and you can do a lot with it.

01:45:01

Yeah, with good questions. Like, you had a follow-up?

01:45:04

Uh, yeah, a quick one for you. Uh, when you're this good at golf, are you still able to go out and kind of play with old friends or is the skill gap just kind of unmanageable, like it just doesn't make sense logistically? Are you still going out there? I know it's your job, but are we shooting around with the boys, or is that not really something that makes sense?

01:45:22

Oh no, I mean, the greatest thing about golf is the handicap system, so I can go play with my boys that shoot in the 80s, but then they get enough strokes where it's really competitive. So I play with the boys all the time. Uh, my guys at Whist Rock, I just played with them all leading up to this event Thunder Dan Marley always plays with us and other pros, and it's a blast. I mean, we set the strokes, we go out, we play, and I, I don't win every time. They, they'll beat me sometimes. So it's, it's a lot of fun. That's a great thing about golf.

01:45:50

What's the worst golfer you've played with in the last like 3 years? Would you play with like a 110 guy?

01:45:57

Oh, I mean, that's, that's tough. I, I'm not gonna name the athlete, but I, uh their agent reached out to my agent and was like, hey, would you want to play with so-and-so? And I was like, sick, I actually really like that guy, he's a great athlete. Um, you know, is he into golf? They're like, oh, he just picked it up. And I said, uh, I think I'm gonna have to pass. Ah, because it's just tough. There's a certain level, I would say above 100, it can just kind of be tough because you're like always looking for golf balls. And I don't know, I mean I know that might sound bad, but it just— we do it so much that you're like, do I really want to be looking for balls all day?

01:46:35

So would you say, like, when Devin Booker hits you back up in a couple years, would you then play with him? It wasn't Devin Booker.

01:46:43

It wasn't Devin Booker.

01:46:44

Good guess, though.

01:46:45

But you weren't, you weren't, like, wondering to yourself, maybe LeBron will tell me if he's going to retire or not?

01:46:50

You guys are just trying to ask. I'm not going to say who it is. I'm not going to say it is.

01:46:55

What?

01:46:56

He might be a wide receiver. Oh, I'm not gonna say.

01:46:58

Puka Nacua.

01:47:00

Oh, I'm not gonna say. Marvin Harrison Jr. Why wouldn't you play with him?

01:47:05

I plead the— I plead the fifth.

01:47:07

Like, Cooper Kupp, I know he's thinking about retiring soon too, but he's got a decent amount of time on us. It's the offseason.

01:47:13

Interesting.

01:47:14

It's not Adam Thielen because Adam Thielen's really good.

01:47:16

He is really good. Yeah, yeah, we've had him on a couple times. He's very good. Um, the, uh, I have a real question for you. So, you know, you guys make golf, you know, when we're watching, it's so fun to watch, but you also make it look easy because you're so, so good. Coming up and going to Q School and all that stuff, was there a moment that you were like, I, I don't know if I can do this? Like, I— because it is the hardest game, and I'm always curious about guys who reach the highest level if there was a crossroads moment where you're like, I, I think I might be done.

01:47:47

Well, I will say I was, I was almost naive, and it was like ignorance is bliss. I got through Q School and my first year on Korn Ferry, or it was Webb at the time, got through with like a breeze. And then I got to the PGA Tour, had a pretty good first year, and then I had kind of a sophomore slump, if you will. And it was like, holy shit, if I go back down, like, I don't know if I'll ever get back up. Because you almost don't realize how difficult it is when you just get through it that easily. And that was kind of that moment, like, I never want to go back down, right? And, you know, there's great players that it took them 3, 4, 5, 6 years to finally get their card, and then when they finally got it, they were world beaters. And I'm like, I do not want to go back. So that, that was kind of my moment, um, that I, you know, I didn't want to go back to the, to the minors.

01:48:32

Yeah.

01:48:32

Have you ever had the S-word?

01:48:36

A shame.

01:48:37

Yeah. Have you had— but like the disease? I don't want to say it.

01:48:41

No, I'm not— I've never had the disease. I'm— I kind of live on the toe, um, and so because of that, I, I don't hit— I actually hit a shank today. It was pretty funny on the range, and I laughed, and he laughed it off, and then we move on.

01:48:52

But you've never had like a, a time where you've shown up and you're just like, I just don't have it today, I just can't hit a ball solid?

01:48:59

No, I've never had that. Knock on wood. Hopefully, hopefully I don't ever have it. But yeah, that and the yips.

01:49:05

I hope I never Yeah, don't think about that next time you're out on the range.

01:49:08

That's how I tried.

01:49:09

Yeah, thanks, thanks for bringing it up.

01:49:12

I tried not to say it.

01:49:13

It's pretty awesome that you're so good at golf that you hit a shank and then you laughed. Yeah, like, oh, that was funny.

01:49:20

What else you gonna do? You're gonna get mad and then, you know, you just like, you know, push it away and go, yeah, whatever, it didn't even happen.

01:49:28

Yeah, yeah. So, so going to, uh, you went to Oklahoma State, right? Yeah, what was it in Oregon? What's it about, uh, Oklahoma State that makes like a lot of good golfers want to play golf in Oklahoma?

01:49:41

I mean, honestly, I have no idea. It started a long time ago with Coach Holder where he just created this atmosphere of, hey, this is a golf school. And they were one of the first schools with their own golf course, the best facilities. And then it just kept breeding great golfers. And now it's— I mean, it's the school to go to for golf. They win championships kind of every 5 to 7 years. I kind of went, um, also because of the coach at the time, Coach Mike McGraw. He's one of the best coaches now. And Bratton's there. And so I just think the combination of the history, the facilities, and then the fact that they're going to do anything they can to win in golf— and golf there has been cool for a long time, you know, like it was a big deal that you were on the golf team. Conversely, like other schools, you're like, oh, we have a golf team, you know. And so it was cool Yeah.

01:50:26

And plus you get all the merch with, with Pete as a golfer. I like how they have Pete playing all the different sports at Oklahoma State.

01:50:32

They started Swinging Pete. Swinging Pete was the, was the first. They were the first ones to do that for golf. Now everyone kind of has like Alabama has the Swinging Elephant and, you know, everyone has something. But Pistol Pete, Swinging Pete was the first one.

01:50:46

Yeah. So I saw that you're, you're thinking about launching a mental health app. How does that work? And can we do it for podcasting?

01:50:54

Yeah, you can. So the great thing about this is it's called Unlock, and it's, uh, like kind of a mental performance app. So let's just say I'll use me as an example. I, I do all the onboarding and, you know, why you want to use this app. You'd be like, okay, well, I struggle to perform under pressure and I get a little anxious in these moments. And then it will, it'll basically feed you into the into the procedure and, and stuff that they want you to do through AI. So AI will then become your performance coach where it'll give you things to read, meditations to do, uh, daily goals to focus on, and then track all of your information in your journal. And then at the end, it'll, you know, over time track stuff and, and you'll see hopefully tons of benefits. And then it's also kind of like, um, a social networking where you bring awareness to mental health and more people can talk about it. So if you struggle with broadcasting, which you don't, you do a great job.

01:51:49

Thank you.

01:51:50

Uh, you could talk with him, be like, hey, you know what, I'm starting to get nervous doing this, and, and it's something that could help you and send you information. And then other people might say, hey, this actually helped me in these moments. And so it's a pretty cool, it's a pretty cool thing, and, and hoping to launch next year with a bunch of other athletes. And hopefully it's, it's something that everyone can use.

01:52:10

I, I feel like that's something I need for, uh, NFL Sunday in the Gambling Cave here. That would be nice.

01:52:16

Yeah.

01:52:16

Yeah.

01:52:17

You get in there and say, okay, hopefully I meditate and choose the right picks.

01:52:20

Yeah.

01:52:21

Yeah. I could use— listen, I'll try anything to perfect that game.

01:52:24

Just hit reset on your Sunday. Just center yourself real quick.

01:52:27

Center yourself and be like, okay, yeah, I've missed the last 12 picks and yeah, I'm down $5,000, but hey, it's going to come back and we're going to, we're going to switch it around.

01:52:36

That's cool though. The mental health aspect. I mean, it is, it's cool that we're in a time time, uh, especially in pro sports where guys feel open talking about it because it is such a huge part of the game, especially golf. Like, I don't unders— you guys are mental warriors. I don't understand how you're able to keep that focus shot in, shot out, uh, when the pressures just get so high.

01:52:58

Oh yeah, I mean, it is— it's truly the toughest game mentally, you know. Other ones you almost don't have time to think about it. Like in basketball, you miss a shot, shot. Now you got to get back on defense. Well, in golf, you have 2, 3, 4 minutes before you hit another shot, and you're just in your head, you know, like mad or distracted or whatever it is, and you got to be able to come back to, to ground zero. And then you can't show emotion, and so then it just makes it even tougher. So it's, uh, it's definitely tough mentally.

01:53:26

That would be funny if your mental health app did have like a— like when it takes in all your data and every now and then it spits out being like, you got to break a locker. Like, this is the only way you're going to feel better.

01:53:40

We'll put that in the suggestion box. I don't know how good that would go.

01:53:43

Yeah, it's like once, once every few years. Like, it can't— you can't get to that level like easily. But every now and then it'd be like, hey, we've prescribed you one locker. Here's where you can go. Just go fucking smash.

01:53:54

You get a pill. It'll just be that shaped like a locker. That looks like a locker. Yeah. There you go.

01:53:59

There we go. Now we're talking.

01:54:00

Yeah. All right. I got one last question. It's a Roback question. R-H-O-B-A-C-K.com promo code TAKE. 20% off your first purchase. Q-zips, polos, hoodies, joggers, shorts. Roback.com promo code TAKE. We actually have Hank stepped in here. Hank, we brought you up earlier. Hank, do you have any questions for Wyndham about your game? He didn't believe that you— he actually went to Wyndham's credit. He said that you switched to lefty because you probably perfected righty. We had to, we had to correct him and be like, that's not the case. Um, but do you have any questions for Wyndham?

01:54:33

I do have some questions. Uh, I'm also a little, uh, loopy. I just, I just came out of a 4-hour, uh, oral surgery appointment. I feel like I have, uh, like when girls get like lip fillers, like that's what's going on.

01:54:52

It just came out of 4 hours of getting Yeah, 4 hours of oral.

01:54:57

That's what it sounded like.

01:54:59

Jeez Louise.

01:55:01

Okay, I mean, my question is just, I would love to know more about the lower body, like, and the importance of the lower body, how you use it, when you really learn to unlock it, and like, how much is that something you think about when you're training day in and day out? Like, And then of all the, you know, different parts of a swing, how important is the lower body?

01:55:26

Well, I will say it doesn't take me 4 hours to get the lower body loosened up. But you know what, we— the biggest thing is, is, is a lot of stretching, a lot of work in the gym. And then the sequencing of the golf swing is very important. And if you can kind of lead with the lower body, that typically helps you hit it farther.

01:55:48

This is the kind of operation we run here, Wyndham, where we got the guy who's very professional, who's at the dentist for 4 hours getting on the mic.

01:55:55

I love it. Actually, great question.

01:55:56

It was a great question.

01:55:57

Tell me, it was— what's that lower body do?

01:55:59

I also have another question, uh, because this is a huge problem for me and probably most amateur golfers, is like, if I make a par, let alone a birdie, like, my mind goes a million different ways. I'm, I'm thinking like, this is going to be the best round of my life. You just had a round where you shot 60, how do you balance like staying on the gas of like realizing you're on fire but also not getting ahead of yourself so that you can stay on fire? Because like if I made 2 birdies in a row, that's it. Like I'm probably bogeying the next 4.

01:56:35

Well, we do the same thing in golf. Like in that round that I was shooting, multiple times You know, I'm thinking about winning, I'm thinking about opening up some grape, I'm thinking about what if I screw up, what if I, you know, I look at the leaderboard and I hit a bad shot. Like, you're— our minds do the same thing. What you train is then to come back to the present and do your process. So the best thing for you is whatever it is at any level, come up with a process that helps you hit good golf shots. So like for me, I make sure I go through, get the yardage correct, I'm 100% committed to the club, whether if it's the right club or not. And then I have an intermediate target that I aim to, and then I just focus on that and try to start it over that target. And then you look up and you're like, oh wow, it's still really good. And you do the same thing with the putt, and you might make 5 birdies in a row, but you don't even know because you're so focused on the process.

01:57:25

Um, well, Wyndham, this, this has been awesome, man. We really appreciate it. I'm actually gonna— I'm gonna give you a second chance on the open up some grape comment because I was After I saw that, I was like, I don't think I like this guy, but I like you a lot.

01:57:38

So thank you so much. I mean, I might get canceled by the PGA Tour media. They're over here shaking their heads, but hey, you know what? I had fun with you guys.

01:57:45

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, we'd love to have you on anytime. Uh, you actually— we, we have a deal with Max and Brooks, but if you do win a major, you have to come on that night. So we'll maybe get to watch you open up some grapes.

01:57:54

We'll have grape of our own.

01:57:55

Yeah, we will do it together.

01:57:57

Okay, big grape party.

01:57:58

Yeah, I love that. Thanks, Wingo.

01:57:59

I love I love it.

01:58:00

All right, see you, boys. See you, man.

01:58:04

02:00:21

Okay, Firefest of the week. Quite a week for the boys, pardon my take. Feels like, uh, there was a moment last night, PFT, where I actually said— Pugs, by the way, won their playoff game, we're on to the next round. So we're at the bar afterwards having beers and we're just like, oof, the Knicks were down. And I just turned to Hank and I was like, this is, this is when, when me, you and PFT have to be strong for all these fucking Italians in our booth that are so emotional with each other.

02:00:52

I just tweeted out after the first quarter, I tweeted, memes was right. I think because it felt like this was a disastrous curse. And I'm glad that, that everything worked out in the long run. I was very nervous for Zach's life and honestly, not for all our lives, mostly just for Zach's life. Life. I'm glad that it worked out, but I think we're back on a good— we're on good footing now.

02:01:13

Yeah, we've had it. We've had quite a week, and we just— we have to be strong. This room has to be strong for that room. That's all that we care about.

02:01:21

They look to us as role models.

02:01:22

Yeah, yeah. But yeah, Pugs, uh, playoffs. We— another big matchup next week.

02:01:26

Big matchup, big win.

02:01:29

Uh, felt good to be out with the boys and have some positive energy going.

02:01:32

I got a question for you guys and for the, the softball team in which you're on, which I guess I am on the team.

02:01:38

You're on long-term IL. We've actually been saving a lot of salary cap money with you doing that load management. Well, no, it's like, it's like hockey. We're, we're circumventing the cap right now.

02:01:47

You can bring me in for the finals if you need to, because let me tell you what, I did yoga the other day. Nice. I'm back. I think I'm back. But yeah, with softball, I read this story about the UT women's team and that one player in particular on the team. She eats ladybugs before every game.

02:02:03

Saw that.

02:02:04

Have you guys thought about implementing something?

02:02:06

Absolutely not.

02:02:07

You're not going to eat the bugs?

02:02:08

Bad luck.

02:02:09

I heard Big Cat was eating a bug.

02:02:11

I'm never going to eat the bugs. They will never make me eat the bugs. In terms of—

02:02:15

they make a bug burger.

02:02:17

In terms of superstitions, the only two that we have now is never, ever, ever warm up and never let PFT pay for beers before the game is taking place.

02:02:26

And also drink beers before the game. Yeah, I don't really love that one because we were undefeated when we've done that. And the only time we haven't done that, we lost.

02:02:34

I, I'm—

02:02:36

I think— what do you— what? Yeah.

02:02:38

When you, when you, when you do that, when you do that math, facts are facts.

02:02:41

Facts are facts.

02:02:41

I deal in facts.

02:02:42

We're undefeated when drinking beers before the game and defeated when not drinking beers.

02:02:47

And yeah, constantly defeated.

02:02:49

Constantly defeated.

02:02:50

And it feels worse because you're sober.

02:02:52

Yeah, yeah, yeah. It loosens the boys up a little bit.

02:02:56

But yeah, I just— I think I respect the University of Texas softball player for doing it. Yeah. For eating ladybugs before every game, because it's a fucking psychopath.

02:03:04

That's crazy.

02:03:05

So what if you can't find them?

02:03:06

I think she just—

02:03:07

if she sees one, are they ladybugs or the fake ladybugs?

02:03:10

They're real ladybugs.

02:03:12

You know, the fake one.

02:03:13

But you can't have that superstition.

02:03:14

If you can't find a ladybug, then you're screwed.

02:03:16

Yeah.

02:03:16

What are those? She just fucking— Walking around the outfield on her hands and knees looking for bugs.

02:03:20

Yeah. The team, the team ladybugs. What are they called?

02:03:23

Are you talking about the ladybugs that have—

02:03:25

No, they're like the off-brand ladybugs.

02:03:26

Because it's probably the orange ones.

02:03:29

Yeah. You talking about love bugs?

02:03:30

I think.

02:03:30

I don't know. They're like, you guys know what I'm talking about. They're not red. They're not like bright red. They look kind of like ladybugs, but they're not.

02:03:37

She eats ladybugs whenever she sees them. I looked into a little bit because I thought, does she just have like a bunch of ladybugs that she keeps at her house?

02:03:45

Lady beetle.

02:03:46

That she brings out like it's like it's chewing tobacco. But no, I think it's like if she happens to come across a ladybug, she eats it.

02:03:53

Got it. Yes. Asian beetle.

02:03:56

Lady beetle.

02:03:58

All you need. No, I wasn't going to do it.

02:04:02

How would you sing? Big Cat.

02:04:04

None of us. None of us back here.

02:04:06

How would they sing the song? Oh, bloody, bloody.

02:04:09

Not going to do it. The Asian beetle.

02:04:11

Cool.

02:04:12

Good for her. Hank, go ahead. I mean, pretty—

02:04:16

I don't know, we probably won't talk about it in the beginning of the show. I thought me and Memes were gonna come to blows yesterday. Oh yeah, he doesn't understand times and like what times mean, and that got contentious. Facts.

02:04:28

Memes, are you— you have yet to apologize. Memes, you were wrong.

02:04:33

Yeah, I was wrong.

02:04:34

Okay, all right, that's huge. That's as far as Memes will go.

02:04:37

But then Hank started screaming, so No, no, no, no, no. You told me to get the fuck away from me because you were screaming in my face.

02:04:46

We sit next to each other. We sit across from each other.

02:04:48

You hear about this? It was—

02:04:49

yeah, I walked in this room yesterday and either you, Big Cat, or Hank, you said, PFT, what time would you consider to be early afternoon?

02:04:57

Yeah, no, but so that, that was what the genesis of the argument was. Memes was asked to do something in the evening, early evening, early evening. And then the person emailed and said, hey, looking forward to this event from 5 to 7. And Memes is like, what the fuck? You said it was early evening. I thought it was gonna be like 2 to 4. That's as afternoon as possible. But PFT, the part I might not have told you is there was a moment where Memes basically— yeah, he screamed at Hank. It was like, like, get the fuck out of my face. And Hank was like, or what? Yeah, I did that. Almost ended, yeah, the entire podcast office, everything.

02:05:40

He started seeing red. Then he said that, and then I started seeing red. And then I was like, I— there was a chance he was gonna stand up and we were just gonna fight. We didn't, and we've gotten over it, but it was, it was, it was heated.

02:05:50

I fucking love you boys. Like, this is the shit that, like, listen, anyone, any podcast out there that pretends that it's all, you rainbows and gumdrops all the time. Listen, sometimes you get in a yelling match about what is afternoon, what is evening, and then one guy says, get the fuck out of my face. Then the other guy who might be his boss says, or what? And whatever happens after, or what, could end the entire company, show, everything. Those are the things we live for.

02:06:18

Yeah, just, just another day at the store.

02:06:20

Or what?

02:06:21

I did set it off with the text.

02:06:25

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

02:06:26

Because I called him a bozo.

02:06:28

Yeah, you're like, you never said it. And I was like, I, I said early evening. And you go, early evening is 2 to 4. And then I was like, you're joking. Yeah, you are actually joking.

02:06:36

Yeah, that was insane. I gotta read it.

02:06:37

That's insane.

02:06:38

Or what, you bozo? You said evening.

02:06:40

Late afternoon goes till 5.

02:06:43

Listen, some guys don't know when the weekend starts. Some guys don't know times.

02:06:46

That's true.

02:06:46

Yeah, that's true.

02:06:47

Good point. Between us, we can figure out a calendar.

02:06:49

Yeah, no, 5 o'clock is the start of evening. That is early evening.

02:06:53

You said early evening, you bozo. And I was like, are you trolling? What time is 5:10? And he goes, that's night.

02:06:58

And I go, what time is—

02:06:59

I said, what time is early evening then? He said, early evening is 2 to 4. And then I just went up to him, was like, what is happening?

02:07:05

2 to 4 is the meat of the afternoon. Yeah.

02:07:08

And then you got Brandon involved.

02:07:10

Well, yeah.

02:07:10

And I said, Brandon, I was like, I was calling, I was looking around. I was like, there's like graphics guys over there. I was like, hey. And they could tell it was contentious. I'm like, hey, quick.

02:07:18

He's like, no, no, no, no, no.

02:07:19

I'm not getting involved. Brandon was down the hallway. I was like, Brandon, like, come here. And he goes— I was like, what time is early evening? He goes, 5 o'clock. Memes was like, shut the fuck up, look at what you're wearing.

02:07:28

Yeah, I said, look, I just said, look at what you're wearing.

02:07:30

If there's anybody that knows about sundown towns, it's Brandon Walker. You're right, Memes.

02:07:34

That's true.

02:07:35

That they get a good laugh. And then Hank and Brandon start calling me cunt.

02:07:37

Oh, okay.

02:07:38

I didn't call you cunt.

02:07:39

Now, Hank, Hank, when you told Memes, uh, or what, did he look like he was going to do what?

02:07:44

No, no, he turtled He just was looking at his computer.

02:07:48

Oh, you pussy memes.

02:07:49

That's what it sounds like. I was wondering about that because it sounds like you just kind of didn't do anything. Sounds like you kind of just sat there and took it.

02:07:57

Or what is maybe the heaviest thing you could say?

02:07:59

Well, he was— I was— it was like I was trying to— I was trying to just address the situation. Then he was just like— he was acting like he was my boss. He's like, get the fuck out of here.

02:08:07

And I was like, I sit here.

02:08:09

No, I said you sit over there.

02:08:10

Yeah.

02:08:12

But it's all good. It's that, you know, it happens.

02:08:15

Yeah.

02:08:16

Thank God. I mean, not really. That's the thing. The fucked up part is Memes is such a sourpuss that there was one second yesterday where I was like, I kind of hope the Knicks win just so Memes doesn't like kill us all summer. It's like, no, fuck that. Fuck the Knicks. But it is what it is. We're past it. Knicks won.

02:08:33

Okay.

02:08:34

They can enjoy it for now.

02:08:35

And also the email I sent wasn't even bad.

02:08:38

I was like, no, you're just like, you never told us.

02:08:40

No, I read the email. Wasn't that bad?

02:08:41

No, it wasn't bad. I just—

02:08:42

that's just a workplace.

02:08:44

Yeah, no, I just cleared out. You said we didn't— we never said— you never established a time. Whatever, it doesn't matter. Uh, and then yesterday I went to the dentist. I was under anesthesia. They told me it was gonna— I was gonna be like fine. It would be a quick recovery. So I came back to the office thinking I was gonna be fine. One of those kind of like when you're blackout and you don't realize it. Like, I don't remember much of like being in the office yesterday and like the Wyndham Clark. Okay, I've, I've— two good questions. I've already shuddered thinking about what I said in the Wyndham Clark interview and just like—

02:09:12

I thought you were good.

02:09:13

Realizing I was in the office for like 4 hours yesterday. Like I went home after that and then slept before the softball game and woke up and was like, whoa, like I was pretty fucked up earlier. And I was like, oh, I was at the office for 4 hours.

02:09:26

It was actually fun.

02:09:27

Yeah, you sound more sober than most golf journalists.

02:09:30

Mm-hmm. That's good. It was good.

02:09:31

Yeah. Other than that, great week.

02:09:33

Yeah.

02:09:33

Okay, PFT. I'm just still— I'm still thinking about the Asian Beatles.

02:09:36

I'm still thinking about Or What?

02:09:38

You say goodbye—

02:09:38

stop!

02:09:39

And I say nope.

02:09:42

Max still didn't get it.

02:09:44

All right. Oh, Blackbird. Don't be—

02:09:48

oh no, no, no, no, help!

02:09:52

Yellow Submarine.

02:09:53

Oh my God, Yellow Submarine. Oh my God, we gotta start Eleanor Rigby.

02:09:58

Maxwell Silverhammer.

02:10:01

Yeah. Yeah. Oh, all right. Good Fyre Fest, Hank.

02:10:06

Thank you.

02:10:06

Thank you.

02:10:07

Thank you. My Fyre Fest is we make a lot of stupid purchases on this show. No, you know what? No, that's what the haters would say. No, the haters would say we make a lot of stupid purchases on this show.

02:10:20

I also, I think people are going to be like, oh, I can't believe you're saying— listen, PFC and I do are lucky enough to have money now. It's pretty awesome. I think we're— instead of being like hoarding it, we're just buying the dumbest shit possible and being like, hey, look how stupid this shit is. I don't know. Like, we're basically living true to like when you're 20 years old, you're like, if I had this, I'd buy this. Yes, we're actually doing—

02:10:48

I think back all the time to like how I felt as a 12-year-old. And I think to myself, What did you want out of life? If you had all— if you got a blank check at 12, what would you have done? And then I try to do that thing because guess what? I think I was smarter when I was 12 than I am today.

02:11:04

An ice cream machine.

02:11:05

Yes, I think, I think I had a more pure sense of direction in the world of what's right and wrong. And so sometimes we spend things, we spend money on things that might not be conventional. But I've made— I believe this is the biggest purchase outside of a house. And a car. This is the biggest purchase of my life. Okay. That I just fully cemented.

02:11:28

Is it the one you were talking about earlier?

02:11:29

I'm a Washington Wizards season ticket holder.

02:11:32

Oh, yeah.

02:11:32

And I'm talking some, some good seats. I sprung for some very— let's just say that I'm going to be able to have one-on-one conversations with Trae Young.

02:11:44

Is it?

02:11:44

So you're on the wood?

02:11:45

On the wood.

02:11:46

I am— I don't want to say exactly where they are, okay, just yet, um, because there was—

02:11:51

well, it's, you know what, it's wood or it's not wood.

02:11:55

It doesn't matter where they are.

02:11:57

No, because I don't know.

02:11:59

Will your feet be on the wood?

02:12:00

I don't know where the wood starts. Say it, Max.

02:12:02

The first row. Say it, Max. What do you want me to say? I want you to say what you want to say.

02:12:07

No. Yes.

02:12:08

No, no, no.

02:12:09

Where are the seats?

02:12:11

They are directly be behind the Wizards bench.

02:12:16

Okay, that's pretty sick. That's sick.

02:12:17

Yeah, that's pretty sick. Like, right, right in front.

02:12:20

I have nothing to say.

02:12:21

You know what you want to say.

02:12:22

I have nothing to say.

02:12:23

I have nothing to say.

02:12:24

Come on, lip up.

02:12:25

Say it.

02:12:26

One time PFT gifted me courtside seats and they were in the 8th row.

02:12:33

Max pulled me aside when you told us about these season tickets and he was like, there's a chance PFT doesn't know what the first row is because he—

02:12:42

see, I— that sucks. I blame the charity that I, I won them off of in a silent auction for marketing them as front row seats.

02:12:50

That's bullshit. That's bullshit on their part.

02:12:52

Were they good seats?

02:12:53

I'm sorry, they were great.

02:12:54

I did, I did tell Max I got you front row seats. Yeah, and then they were in the 8th row.

02:12:58

I also don't think they were marketed as front row seats.

02:13:01

What a night. What a nice guy Max is for not telling me that until just now.

02:13:04

Well, it was very nice of you to give me those seats.

02:13:09

But I did. I did.

02:13:10

But if someone had my brothers fly out, I was like, this is a once in a lifetime thing. We're going to have— we're going to have feet on wood. You guys got to come. And then I got the seats. I was like, sorry, guys, they're not even close.

02:13:20

Well, guess what, Max? When the Sixers play the Wizards.

02:13:24

Yeah. You want to fly to Washington, D.C.

02:13:26

and still not be able to fly?

02:13:29

Yeah, I'll fly you out. No. So I don't know how the arenas are set up, like the row that is directly be behind the Wizards bench, that front row. That is— I mean, if you're, if you're like, usually go— feet might be on the wood there.

02:13:41

No, that—

02:13:41

those seats are sick. Yeah, they're incredible. It's just a question of, do some teams do like staff, you know what I mean, right behind, and then you have one? No, this— either way, it's sick.

02:13:51

This is right behind. Um, and I— listen, it's Wizards season tickets. Uh, some might say APFT, you don't live in Washington, DC. Was that— could be your question?

02:14:02

It was.

02:14:02

That's a fair question. So I'll make it back for some of the games, Some of the others I'll just give away. Friends, family, maybe even listeners of this show. If you're, if you're, you know, if you're willing to get wizarded and you're in the D.C. area, then that probably turn into something that I will end up giving away to some of you guys. But I'm pumped. I'm pumped. That's how much I believe in this team. And I just saw again, for all the haters out there, Anthony Davis just put out a video where he's wearing a Wizards shirt.

02:14:29

Nice.

02:14:29

So we're good to go.

02:14:31

And How many games?

02:14:33

How many? What's your plan?

02:14:35

Well, there's 41 games.

02:14:36

Yep.

02:14:36

And then plus the playoffs.

02:14:38

Yep. So, but so how many?

02:14:40

Put playoff, playoffs, play-in playoffs plus the playoffs. That was a big part of the sell that they put on me was like, well, you have to pay extra for those. Yeah, but don't forget you also have the right to buy them at face value for the playoffs when we make it to the playoffs.

02:14:52

Um, and so anyone listening right now who wants to go to a Wizards game and PFT seats, email PMT Bachelor Party and Zach will go through it. As PFT was telling us all this, I just looked at Zach and I was like, you got some more work, buddy.

02:15:06

We're selling tickets, boys. Yeah. So it is— it's a lot of money to be paying for Wizards season tickets considering I don't think I've paid more than $20 in my entire life for a Wizards season ticket or for a Wizards ticket to a game.

02:15:19

Yeah.

02:15:20

But yeah, I'm excited about it. Like, this is— this could be fun.

02:15:25

So that— so we're looking at— is this— how many Wizards? That was Knicks. Okay. Yeah. Because see, sometimes there are some staff behind And but either way, it doesn't really matter if you're, if you're behind the staff, you're still like right there. You're in shouting distance.

02:15:37

I think I'm going to be like, I saw the virtual picture that the guy sent me. It looks pretty good.

02:15:42

Love that.

02:15:43

It looks pretty good. So yeah. So I'm excited. Feet on the wood.

02:15:46

Yeah.

02:15:46

Hank, you got another question?

02:15:47

Yeah.

02:15:48

Hypothetically. And I, I mean, actually, I guess I won't even, I won't even say that because I am actively rooting for the Wizards to be bad next year because of our bet. But let's say they are terrible.

02:16:00

You're coming to some games with me if it's close at the end of the season.

02:16:02

Definitely. But if they're terrible, like, how long will you keep doing this bit if they're bad next year? Like, will you get season tickets again?

02:16:11

What do you mean, bit? What's a bit?

02:16:14

Like believing in the Wizards.

02:16:16

You think that's a bit? Yes. Believing in magic is a bit.

02:16:21

Sorry, some of us don't want to grow up, Hank.

02:16:23

Yeah, sorry, Hank. I like sports. I'm not a front runner. Are you saying like you can only root for your team? No, I'm just asking like what, what, like what is that?

02:16:32

What is your—

02:16:34

Hank, I, I've rooted for DC Sports my entire— I'm used to rooting for—

02:16:37

so you're gonna own these season tickets forever?

02:16:39

Well, it depends on how— it depends on how regularly I'm checking my emails when they send around the renewal notification because I'm in that on, I believe, year 3 of having Colts season tickets because I did not deactivate them. So So if they sneak it past me during football season and I'm not checking my email and it goes to my 111,000 emails that I have unread, then I probably will auto-run it.

02:17:02

You're going to be in the same exact spot I am with my Blackhawks season tickets. I'm committed to having Blackhawks season tickets until my credit card expires and then we'll reassess.

02:17:12

Mm-hmm.

02:17:13

Yep. We will have to— I think it's 2029. Then we'll have to reassess.

02:17:16

That's the way that men close out accounts, correct? As they wait for their shit to expire. Like a natural forest fire that wipes everything out and then you restart from scratch.

02:17:25

Having season tickets is fun, man. Yeah, it is. Just go to games.

02:17:29

Yeah. So I'm thinking maybe if I'm giving away these tickets, I have thought about making people dress up as actual Wizards to go to the game. I think that'd be a good look. Or boobs.

02:17:40

Boobs. Boobs would be good.

02:17:41

Those are always fun.

02:17:42

Those would be good. Okay. Hold on.

02:17:44

Yeah. Is there like a scheduled release date for basketball? Probably after the season.

02:17:48

Yeah.

02:17:49

Okay.

02:17:49

Yeah.

02:17:49

What do you got? I'll be excited.

02:17:51

Pulling it up.

02:17:52

I'm pulling it up.

02:17:53

Yeah.

02:17:53

So there's 101 VIP.

02:17:56

That's it. Yep. Oh, okay. Yeah. These are— these are— these are awesome. Those are fucking awesome.

02:18:00

Yeah. They'll be good seats. I'm telling you, it's— it's a— if I just explained what I was doing to like a psychologist, they would probably think I was insane.

02:18:09

Or just midlife crisis.

02:18:11

Yeah. Yeah. But I've been having a midlife crisis for the last 40 years. It's now I can just afford my midlife crisis.

02:18:18

Yeah, well, that's, that's my fight.

02:18:20

My Fyre Fest is what it means. What's going on?

02:18:23

They'd probably think you're insane.

02:18:26

Yeah, they would.

02:18:26

Bought Wizards season tickets.

02:18:29

You win one, you win one final in Chicago.

02:18:32

He's a terrorist right now. And one—

02:18:33

I mean, sorry for spreading it around to maybe some kids that might not be able to afford these seats that want nothing more than to go watch Trey Young and Bilal Koulibaly play basketball.

02:18:44

You already can't afford the seats. This is like just rubbing it in their face, like, hey, go, go torture yourself and watch the Wizards.

02:18:50

This is, this is bullshit.

02:18:52

It's bullshit. Also, you're not prepared for the rivalry that we're about to have.

02:18:55

Yep. Yeah. Learn some history, memes. You can choose your rivals. Bob Diaco taught us that. My Fyre Fest actually, not similar to the Wizards, But shout out Zach, shout out Jacob, shout out Owen. Uh, today is the 1-year anniversary of the ice cream machine being in this office, and it's been an incredible year. I think I said at the time when we got it, I said, I don't want to live in a world where ice cream isn't easily accessible to me. Uh, I'm just tired. I'm just tired of living in that world. So I've changed it. But it also made me realize, like, time's just moving too fast. Got to hit a pause. Like, 1 That's crazy that we've had it for a year.

02:19:37

A year is not— I— Hank just pointed out it's our— me and his 3-year anniversary of moving here.

02:19:43

Mm.

02:19:43

June 1st.

02:19:44

Yeah. I remember when Hank moved because he didn't have any of the utilities set up in his place. He had to stay with me for a couple of nights. Yeah.

02:19:50

Yeah.

02:19:51

But yeah, 3 years since then. One year. The ice cream machine does feel like it was yesterday.

02:19:55

It feels like it was yesterday. So, yeah, it's just kind of like I need time to slow down a little bit and— but shout out the boys working hard. They've— we've had no listeria, knock on wood. We've had no times where, like, the only stoppages we've had were forced on us by other people. It's been great.

02:20:12

Mm-hmm.

02:20:12

Couple new flavors this year, maybe.

02:20:14

Maybe.

02:20:14

I like the strawberry.

02:20:15

Okay, we could do strawberry for summer, maybe Wimbledon.

02:20:19

Oh, strawberry and vanilla.

02:20:20

Yeah.

02:20:21

And we can try the, the other strawberry as well. So like, we have— we had two iterations. I know the last one was a little bit too strong, so we can try the the other one.

02:20:27

I love that. Okay, Zach, your Fire Fest.

02:20:33

My— I mean, my Fire Fest of the week is causing division in this Knicks booth this week. Should I go with a different one?

02:20:39

No, no, you— well, we've already talked a lot about it, but you— that's a good point. I guess, how do you feel?

02:20:46

I feel— I feel— I hate division. You hate to see it, you know what I mean? Like, you and one of your guys are in a division situation and I played a big part in it.

02:20:54

Say how you really feel.

02:20:56

That's how I feel.

02:20:56

That's how I feel. Was that you, Max, when we got softball and the Knicks were losing and Jalen Brunson was hurt? It looked like he might be like hurt bad. I think you were the one. You're like, Zach is definitely just sitting in his apartment.

02:21:08

Oh, I did. I said that. I said, I said if I could have a live cam on Zach right now, he's sitting in his apartment by himself fixing his glasses over and over and over as there's updates on Jalen Brunson.

02:21:18

That was high stress. Speaking to no one, just being like this, just like the season could be over.

02:21:26

And then I like, your life could be outside of that life too.

02:21:29

Yeah, maybe. Do you regret like the part that you played in it?

02:21:34

I mean, you never feel good about it, you know?

02:21:36

Yeah. You won the lottery because I don't think either of you guys have regrets and I'm not sure that either of you should have regrets.

02:21:42

No.

02:21:44

It's an unfortunate situation.

02:21:46

Yeah, there you go. Unfortunate all around. Yeah, it's unfortunate that it happened.

02:21:49

You regret saying the word email on why you picked the number.

02:21:55

I will say part of my thought process on that is whether I saw the 11 in the email, you saw it on Jalen's jersey, it was— it may have always been 11.

02:22:07

And the fact— so it wasn't the email, it was Jalen's jersey.

02:22:10

No, I saw it in the email. I said that. That's, that's that's— I can't take that back. That's what happened. Mims saw it on the jersey. He was willing it for Jalen. It's— I felt as if the 11 came up, and it's like, if we're talking superstitions, I felt like, okay, it, it was always 11.

02:22:28

Mhm.

02:22:29

Mhm.

02:22:29

And like, what— Mims, why are you upset about the word email?

02:22:32

Got, got, got to do it for the Knicks. Got to do it for the Knicks.

02:22:35

Because it should have been for Jalen.

02:22:36

I'm trying to break a 50-year You are. You're trying hard. If it costs us Hank's life, you'll do it.

02:22:43

We have to. We have to win.

02:22:46

All right. Oldies here. Oldie, nice, buddy. How— what, you got a Fyre Fest for us?

02:22:52

Miss you boys too. Love being back in this 2.5-star. I got to say, it's getting up to 2.75. There's a lot of good upgrades. I like it a lot.

02:22:59

Oldie came with a bag of treats, which he always does, but it was like it almost exploded when he tried to open it. It. It was, it was so many treats.

02:23:08

Yeah, so that was kind of my Fyre Fest this morning. I was in Disneyland, Disney, like 3 weeks ago with the fam jam. Crushed it. Um, I had my little— what are the thing— what's you do with your toothbrush and all that stuff? What do you call that little package there?

02:23:20

Toothbrush toiletries?

02:23:21

Yeah, the toiletry. Yeah, a little toiletry bag. Uh, so I had all my candies in my backpack, right? Normally it's clear, go through, go through. And this time I see my backpack go to the side. I'm like, oh no, all the chocolates, all the candies, this is not good. So lady's like, uh, sir, yeah, you have a You have scissors in your bag? And I'm like, I don't think I have scissors. And she's like, yeah, you have scissors in your bag. So I went in and I seen the scissors and I was like, oh my gosh, like, terribly sorry. Like, this was like from a Disney trip. That wasn't my concern. My concern was that bag getting evicted from me and not bringing chocolates to the barn here. Like, that would have been— that would have been terrible.

02:23:55

It would have been awful.

02:23:56

I just would have probably turned around and went back home and said, you know what, keep the bag. I'm out of here. I'm staying in Canada.

02:24:02

It is— you have set the precedent that like when you come we expect just an insane amount of treats.

02:24:08

Yeah, it's probably not fair, but you kind of conditioned us to think that way.

02:24:12

It's not fair, but guess what? It's never going to change.

02:24:14

You have to come with treats always.

02:24:16

Like, I bring like half my suitcases, chocolate bars and candies and treats and snacks and maple syrup. I have a huge duffel bag, like, like a biggest bag of chips. I think there's probably like 15 bags of chips and I got like 4 carry-on bags. You're not supposed to have that, right?

02:24:32

Night.

02:24:32

Uh, no, no, definitely not.

02:24:35

But I'm here. I love being back in the barn, boys. Great to see you guys. Weather is finally here.

02:24:39

Yeah. Is every building a barn?

02:24:42

No. Uh, usually, uh, usually every building a barn, but this is one of the best barns in the league. Is the best barn in the league, boys. Look at this place. I love it. The banner. Uh, I got to use the trough too. Yeah, I got to use the trough, which is incredible.

02:24:54

02:24:55

Can't poop in it.

02:24:56

02:24:59

02:24:59

Appreciate you boys. Love being back on the barn. Everyone in Canada loves you guys too.

02:25:03

I love it, I love it. And yeah, Oldie's here because we're doing the bass fishing, uh, tournament, which will be out in a few weeks. And also, oh, tune in, um, starting— is it next— is it Monday? Yeah, Monday. We did, uh, the Barstool— basically, uh, we did a soccer tournament. Oldie was in it. Oldie, we drafted the teams on the Yak. Oldie's on my team. Um, so tune in. I think we're doing episodes every single day at 10 AM Eastern. Is when they debut. So yeah, watch us be idiots playing soccer.
