Trump calls off the Iran strikes. Southern Baptists vote to ban female pastors. And the Knicks see the biggest comeback in NBA Finals history. I'm Daily Wire Executive Editor John Bickley with Georgia Howell. It's Thursday, June 11th. This is Evening Wire.

Iran launched strikes against its neighbors, and President Trump called off American strikes scheduled for this evening amid hopes for a fresh round of talks. Foreign affairs reporter Kassy Akiva has more.

The Trump administration and Iran appeared to move closer to a deal today after days of military escalation. Earlier in the day, President Trump warned that the U.S. would, quote, "hit them again hard today" and soon seize Kharg Island, which is Iran's most important oil export terminal. But this afternoon, Trump announced that he had canceled planned strikes on Iran, saying negotiations had reached the highest levels of the Iranian government and that a framework agreement had been approved. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant, meanwhile, warned that any damage Iran causes to US allies in the Gulf would be paid for with funds extracted from Iranian accounts. In the latest exchange, Iran hit its neighbors, including Jordan, Kuwait, and Bahrain.

President Trump endorsed Susan Collins in the race against Graham Plattner. Daily Wire contributor Tim Pearce has the latest. On Wednesday, Trump confirmed his support for the Republican Collins for the US Senate election in Maine. Take a listen.

Trump also said Plattner was a bad person and called him a pig. However, Trump quickly changed his mind, saying he didn't want to call Plattner that since pigs would be, quote, very upset about it.

Analysts expected an oil shock of $150 to $200 a barrel in response to the Iran war. That never materialized, and experts now say that China may be why. Daily Wire reporter Jacob Wheeler has more.

China has reportedly cut its oil imports by about 3 million barrels a day since the war began. That's roughly equal to the daily run rate of France and Italy together. But experts are still confused as to how China has managed such a drastic cut and how long it can last. Estimates put China's prewar crude oil reserves at between 1 billion and 1.4 billion barrels, enough to cover several months of imports. That, with EV tech powered by the country's numerous coal power plants, appears to be enough to keep China's economy from major harm for now.

Federal prosecutors are now investigating whether major banks discriminated against clients over politics. Homepage managing editor Jordan Schroeder has the details.

The U.S. Attorney's Office in Washington, D.C., headed by Jeanine Pirro, has sent wide-ranging subpoenas to banks such as JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America. The subpoenas in part request to know whether each establishment debanked clients or closed customer accounts over political considerations. The report signals movement on one of President Trump's top priorities regarding the financial system. Trump directed regulators in August to investigate whether financial institutions engaged in, quote, politicized or unlawful debanking. The president has said that he was debanked and barred from some banks after the end of his first administration.

Southern Baptists have overwhelmingly voted to advance a formal ban on female pastors. Culture reporter Megan Basham has the story.

The vote was held at the annual meeting of Southern Baptist leadership in Orlando, Florida. With votes from more than 8,000 delegates, the motion was carried by a 3-to-1 margin. Now, per the rules of the church, the motion cannot be officially codified, however, until another vote is held at next year's meeting. Southern Baptists do already have guidelines against women serving as pastors, but many within the church argued that the rules were not clearly and prominently stated and were often flouted. In recent years, a handful of churches have been expelled from the denomination for defying the rule. The organization Baptist Women in Ministry, a group that promotes female leadership in multiple Baptist denominations, condemned the motion, saying it was promoted through, quote, hateful rhetoric and propaganda. While some at the Southern Baptist meeting did oppose the motion, opponents didn't argue against the principle of the motion itself, but rather they questioned its necessity given the existing guidelines.

ActBlue CEO Regina Wallace-Jones was questioned by Jim Jordan and the House Judiciary Committee investigating allegations of illegal foreign donations to Democrats.

Zoran Mamdani's affiliations continue to cause problems for the New York mayor. Assistant Editor Andy Valdez has more.

Mamdani planned to meet this week with Colombian President Gustavo Petro, who recently called his right-wing critics, quote, Hitler. The meeting was reportedly to position Mamdani as an international leftist thought leader. But the Trump administration blocked the meeting, warning Petro that it would have been a violation of his visa. Meanwhile, Mamdani faced uncomfortable questions from reporters yesterday after he endorsed a House candidate with a history of controversial social media posts, including calling the U.S. a, quote, "fucking disgrace" and accusing veterans of, quote, "war crimes." Mondani, however, stood by his decision.

In an AI blunder, more than 34,000 Instagram accounts were breached. Daily Wire reporter Breck Stoll has more.

Former President Barack Obama's White House social media account posted messages ridiculing President Donald Trump, comparing his leadership to an Islamic branch last month. It turns out that the posts were not made by the former president, but by a group of hackers who discovered a bug in a Meta customer tool. The tool allows anyone to reset passwords for Instagram accounts just by asking an AI chatbot to do it. The 34,000 Instagram accounts included a senior official in President Trump's Space Force department. 20,000 of these accounts were breached, giving hackers access to related email addresses, phone numbers, birth dates, and other personal data. Over 3,500 accounts had names taken and changed. Meta couldn't see what information was seen or taken.

The House Oversight Committee released a damning report this week that covers how top Democratic officials allowed benefits fraud to explode in Minnesota. Reporter Zach Jewell has the details.

According to the report, Governor Tim Walz, Attorney General Keith Ellison, and other officials ignored dozens of whistleblower reports about illicit benefits schemes. The State Department of Human Services took steps to silence whistleblowers that included tracking their phones and collecting their personal information. According to the report, officials gave explicit orders to some investigators to, quote, stop looking into fraud because higher-ups were concerned with appearing, quote, racist or Islamophobic. The House report prompted Vice President J.D. Vance, who heads the administration's anti-fraud task force, to recommend Walls and Ellison to the Justice Department for investigation.

US prosecutors will not seek the death penalty for the man charged with the political assassination of the top Democrat in Minnesota. Daily Wire reporter Drew Berkmeier has the story.

Minnesota killer Vance Bolter pleaded guilty on Thursday to the murder of former State House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband. Bolter entered a guilty plea on 6 federal charges in a deal with federal prosecutors to avoid the death penalty, landing him 2 consecutive life sentences plus 40 years. Last year, Bolter posed as a police officer and also shot a state senator and his wife at their front door the same night he killed the Hortmans. Bolter will still face separate state murder charges that could bring an additional life sentence if convicted.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has set the record for largest NFL contract ever with a deal worth more than a half a billion dollars. If Mahomes meets all the contract incentives, he could make as much as $522 million over the next 8 years. With an average of $64 million a year, he surpassed current pay leader Dak Prescott, who earns $60 million a year. So still not bad. Mahomes has led the Chiefs to 5 Super Bowl appearances and 3 wins. But as Mahomes' stats have begun to wane in recent seasons, some question whether this new salary will be worth the spend.

And the Knicks made a historic comeback in Game 4 of the NBA Finals last night to take a 3-1 series lead. San Antonio led 76 to 49 at halftime, then extended their lead to 29 points in the third quarter. OG Anunoby scored the final points in the last 2 seconds to put the Knicks ahead 107 to 106 for the win. The comeback was the largest in NBA Finals history. The Knicks now have a chance to clinch the championship in Game 5 this Saturday.
