The jury in the Carmelo Anthony case reached a verdict today. Here with the result is Daily Wire reporter Amanda Prestigiacomo.

00:00:28

A Texas jury on Tuesday found Carmelo Anthony guilty of murdering 17-year-old high school student athlete Austin Metcalf. Anthony, who was 17 years old at the time of the murder, was tried as an adult, and he's facing 5 years to life in prison for the first-degree murder conviction. The verdict, which came after a mere 3 hours of jury deliberations, comes days after emotional testimony from friends of Metcalf and other witnesses called by the prosecution. Anthony and his mother reportedly broke down crying after the verdict was read, while the Metcalf family appeared relieved and embraced each other. Anthony's mother was the only person to take the stand during the punishment phase of the trial. She reportedly sobbed and asked jurors to have mercy on her son. Sentencing is expected to be delivered today.

President Trump has launched strikes against Iran in response to the downing of a U.S. Apache helicopter. Daily Wire foreign affairs reporter Kassia Kiva has the latest.

00:01:25

The United States has responded after Iranian drones shot down a U.S. Apache helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz. Before the strike, Trump said, quote, the United States must of necessity respond to this attack. In a statement during the attack, CENTCOM said the mission is proportional response to the unjustified Iranian aggression.

After a week of counting ballots in California, former HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra and the Trump-backed Steve Hilton will both advance in the governor's race, and Spencer Pratt is out of the LA mayoral election. Daily Wire contributor Tim Pearce has more.

00:02:01

Democratic former cabinet member Javier Becerra and Republican Steve Hilton will move on to the general election for the governorship. Becerra landed 28% of the votes to Hilton's 25%, with 84% of the votes counted so far. In the race for LA mayor, independent Spencer Pratt was edged out of second place and fell short of making it to the general election. Instead, City Councilmember Nithya Raman advances, making November a Democrat-on-Democrat contest between Raman and incumbent Mayor Karen Bass. Pratt's late-decided loss has raised questions about the integrity of California's election process among Republicans, including President Trump.

00:02:38

Maine Democratic Senate candidate Graham Plattner is now under attack from someone who used to work on his campaign. Daily Wire Assistant Editor Andy Valdez has the details.

00:02:46

His former political director, Genevieve McDonald, detailed her concerns about his candidacy in an op-ed that appeared in The Washington Post yesterday. McDonald quit his campaign in October when Plattner's old Reddit comments hit national news. Since then, she has been appalled as further details have come to light about his controversial past. McDonald writes that Plattner, quote, exhibits a pattern of dishonest behavior that is impossible to ignore. She also urged voters and Democratic officials to consider options for a new candidate ahead of the general election.

OpenAI has confidentially filed draft paperwork with the SEC to take the company public. Daily Wire reporter Brecca Stoll has more.

00:03:28

With Anthropic's IPO paperwork filed last week and SpaceX expected to hit the Nasdaq on June 12th, the biggest AI companies are primed to go public soon. With all three companies valued at roughly $1 trillion, all have the potential to become the largest IPO in history. SpaceX's IPO could make Elon Musk the world's first trillionaire. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has been noncommittal about an exact timeline to take his company public. He says there are some moves that OpenAI may want to make as a private company before its operations are complicated by going public.

00:03:59

Apple previewed major updates to its products this week, which includes a new AI-powered version of its Siri digital assistant. Here's a clip from the announcement.

00:04:08

Siri AI uses our new Apple intelligence capabilities, and you can tap into them in the same ways you access Siri. Siri today, like by saying, "Hey Siri." This includes personal context understanding, app actions, on-screen awareness, image understanding, and access to broad world knowledge.

00:04:29

In response to concerns about how their products affect children, Apple is also rolling out new parental tools to help manage what phone tools children can access, including screen time and texting limits. Our work in this area is grounded in two core principles. First, we recognize that every child is unique and parents are in the best position to decide what works for their family. Second, we believe in shaping Apple's child safety features based on expert health research. The controls will be mandatory for users under the age of 13 and can remain in place until the user turns 18.

00:05:05

A slew of new research shows that fatherhood is good for men's brains. Daily Wire lifestyle reporter Lauren Bear has more.

00:05:11

Researchers at the University of Southern California found that men with 2 children had an estimated brain age 0.6 years younger than men without children. The difference was more pronounced for men with 3 children. Other research has found that a father's brain shows more activity, likely due to more parts of his brain being used on a regular basis. In an op-ed in the New York Times, clinical psychologist Darby Saxby writes that the benefit to men's brains from parenthood may even be greater than women's. We may be only just beginning to understand the health benefits that come with fatherhood.

Instacart is suing the city of New York over its minimum wage, which they claim has driven up delivery costs. Daily Wire reporter Drew Berkmeier has the story.

00:07:09

After New York City expanded minimum wage to apply to delivery drivers, Instacart sued the city saying the move is illegal. Instacart referenced the Federal Aviation Administration Authorization Act, which says that local laws cannot affect rates, routes, or services of motor carriers. Ever since NYC passed a minimum wage for drivers, consumer fees rose, the number of delivery drivers declined, and the annual growth of food delivery dropped in NYC by more than half. Instacart says these statistics prove that the minimum wage influences the rates, routes, and services of motor carriers, making the law illegal.

Kim Kardashian's boyfriend, who's worth a half a billion dollars, says it's time to put a limit on wealth. Homepage Managing Editor Jordan Schroeder has the details.

00:07:54

Lewis Hamilton, who drives Formula 1 for Ferrari, is estimated to have a net worth of $500 million. The ultra-rich driver raised eyebrows in a recent podcast appearance where he decried wealth inequality, saying there should be limits and that no one should be able to have billions. It is unknown if Hamilton was referring to his girlfriend, Kim Kardashian, who is herself worth around $2 billion. Hamilton, as well, despite his calls for retribution, lives in Monaco and Switzerland to avoid taxation. The driver was also reported to have used a leasing structure to avoid millions in taxes when he purchased his private jet. While Hamilton criticized the behavior of the wealthy, he apparently only met people with more money than himself.

00:08:35

Australia's fight against tobacco appears to be backfiring. According to a new Australian Bureau of Statistics analysis, 80% of tobacco consumed in 2025 was bought on the black market, up from just 12% in 2017. Legal sales and tax revenue have collapsed, all while overall nicotine consumption has risen by 40%. The tax policy, which saw legal cigarettes rise in price to $40 per pack, ended up fueling a massive organized crime syndicate, leading to turf wars, hundreds of firebombings, homicides, and even violence against legitimate retailers. And a Milwaukee Presbyterian Church is in chaos after proposing clergy must remain monogamous. The church's General Assembly is set to vote on a new rule this summer. The progressive denomination has already allowed homosexual clergy members since 2011, but it's now looking to clarify that relationships must be monogamous. The proposal has elicited outrage from denomination leadership groups, including the Advocacy Committee on LGBTQIA+ Equity, who argued that the rule, quote, enforced white supremacy. The group argued that an enforcement of monogamy would impose a, quote, narrow, culturally specific understanding of family that privileges a dominant cultural framework over the lived realities of communities of color and global Christians.
