The fragile Iran ceasefire appears to be back on for now. The Graham-Platner fallout continues, and Trump will attend Game 3 of the NBA Finals tonight. I'm Georgia Howe with Daily Wire Executive Editor John Bickley. It's Monday, June 8th, and this is Evening Wire.

00:00:43

Iran and Israel exchanged fire last night, rattling peace negotiations. Daily Wire Foreign Affairs reporter Kassia Kiba has the latest.

00:00:50

The fragile ceasefire between Israel and Iran appeared to go back into place Monday afternoon after a dramatic overnight exchange of fire that marked Tehran's first direct attack on Israel in months. Iran launched at least 24 ballistic missiles at Israel in retaliation for Israeli strikes on Hezbollah targets in Beirut. The IDF says all of the missiles were intercepted or hit open areas and no casualties were reported. Israel responded with strikes on military and missile production targets inside Iran before President Trump publicly pushed both sides to stop fighting so he could resume peace negotiations. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says Israel has paused attacks on Iran for now. But warned that any future Iranian strike would be met with force.

00:01:32

Fallout from the many scandals of Maine Democrat Senate candidate Graham Plattner continues. Daily Wire contributor Tim Pearce has the latest.

00:01:41

The most recent set of allegations against Plattner came from former girlfriends who told The New York Times that he was demeaning towards women, drank heavily, and was at times physically abusive. One former girlfriend said Plattner twisted her arm during an argument and locked her in a room for several hours. Plattner has denied the allegations as, quote, politically motivated. Establishment Democrats have stood by Plattner as their best shot to take down moderate GOP Senator Susan Collins in November.

00:02:05

She has given cover and comfort to the most corrupt, incompetent president we've ever had. And hopefully the people of Maine will take away the seat from her, whoever the nominee is.

00:02:20

Plattner is expected to win tomorrow's Democratic primary election handily, even after it was revealed he had a tattoo of a Nazi SS symbol. At a rally over the weekend, one of his supporters explained which tattoo she felt would actually be disqualifying.

00:02:33

What if he has like an Israeli flag tattoo or something? Would that be a deal breaker for me?

00:02:39

Yeah.

00:02:41

Honestly, yeah, that would be Israeli. Yeah, because I don't support genocide.

00:02:46

And President Trump will be attending Game 3 of the NBA Finals tonight at Madison Square Garden. Daily Wire assistant editor Nathan Gay has more.

00:02:54

Due to increased security, fans are encouraged to get to the stadium at least 2 hours in advance. The stadium has also instituted a strict no-bag policy for the event. The Knicks currently lead the series 2-0 over the Spurs, but the event has also made headlines for the sky-high cost of entry. The cheapest tickets are currently running at over $7,000, with a median ticket price of over $14,000. This will be the first time a sitting president has attended an NBA Finals game.

00:03:19

A Californian ex-Navy sailor has been arrested alongside 2 co-conspirators who were planning to join ISIS and kill U.S. US commandos. Daily Wire reporter Zach Jewell has the story.

00:03:30

Two of the men, Bareen Zahi and Elias Shamseldin, come from California, while the other, Bassam Ghaffour, hails from Kansas. Prosecutors say that the three men spent over a year communicating their plans online to leave the U.S., join ISIS, and kill U.S. service members. Prosecutors alleged that Ghaffour wanted to behead a female soldier, and Zahi, a former Navy sailor, suggested using drones to kill U.S. soldiers. The three were busted after trying to spend $2,000 to buy UAVs and rocket-propelled grenades to use in their attacks.

00:04:04

Over the weekend, protesters outside of a Turning Point USA event in San Antonio, Texas mocked the death of the group's founder, Charlie Kirk. One of the protesters dressed up as Kirk and reenacted his assassination at a Turning Point event last year. Another protester was able to get inside the event, a leadership summit for women, when Kirk's widow, Erica, was speaking. Here's what that sounded like.

00:04:25

And it's important to remember that happiness comes and goes. It is so fleeting, but the joy of the Lord withstands all.

00:04:34

Erica Kirk, protect God's violence!

00:04:39

It's important to remember that happiness comes and goes, and I pray that you find it.

00:04:51

Actress Mayim Bialik suffered shocking side effects from taking a GLP-1 drug. Daily Wire lifestyle reporter Lauren Baer has the story.

00:05:00

While GLP-1 drugs have exploded in popularity for weight loss, Bialik began to take hers to help with a number of autoimmune conditions. Instead, the medication left her with, quote, explosive uncontrollable diarrhea, sulfur burps, sneezing attacks, cramping, bloating, full-body aching, and an inability to keep down even small sips of water without sprinting to the bathroom. Bialik detailed her experience in an essay in the Free Press, in which she was disturbed to learn that side effects like hers are not uncommon for those who take GLP-1s, though for many, their desire to drop a few sizes is stronger than the discomfort in the process.

00:05:39

Speaking of GLP-1 injections, a new study has reported a positive potential side effect a reduced risk of breast cancer. Researchers looked at the medical records of more than 111,000 overweight or obese women ages 45 to 80 to see how many of them went on to develop breast cancer. During the research, they made a shocking observation: GLP-1s seem to reduce the risk of developing breast cancer by about 30%. UPenn medical professor Elizabeth MacDonald, who led the study, said that although it looks promising, more research is needed.

A Democratic primary in New York's 10th Congressional District is being dominated by the war in Gaza. Daily Wire reporter Jacob Wheeler has more.

00:07:08

Both candidates are Jewish progressives who call themselves liberal Zionists and are heavily critical of the Netanyahu government. Former city comptroller Brad Lander, a key ally of Mayor Zohran Mondani, is running against the incumbent representative Dan Goldman, whom he accuses of denying a, quote, genocide in Gaza, a label Goldman has rejected as, quote, unhelpful. The bitterness of the campaign reflects a broader strain on Jewish Democrats in the city, caught between a resurgence of antisemitism on the far left and a war in Gaza waged by an Israeli government who many of them oppose.

00:07:45

The Chicago Bears say they will proceed with plans for a stadium in Indiana, moving out of Chicago. Homepage managing editor Jordan Schroeder has the latest.

00:07:54

The Chicago Bears will soon be playing their home games in Indiana. After years of failed negotiations with city and state officials in Chicago, the Bears have officially announced their intention to move the team just across the Illinois border to Hammond, Indiana, which is about 20 minutes from the current downtown stadium. Many are now pointing fingers at Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker for failing to keep the team in their state. As regulations and high expenses have pushed the Bears out of Illinois, Indiana has stepped up, offering $1 billion in investment for a new stadium. While the team will soon play across the border, they reportedly will keep the name Chicago Bears.

00:08:30

Amid financial struggles, LIV Golf may be forced to cut their season short. Linden Blake, host of That's So Criminal, has more.

00:08:38

The organization made waves a few years ago as a new competitor to the PGA, signing huge stars like Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm, and Phil Mickelson. The new league drew controversy for offering massive contracts to players willing to defect, endangering any future relationship with the PGA. Now, amid financial struggles, LIV might not last the year. LIV's largest benefactor, the Saudi Public Investment Fund, announced last month that they would be pulling their investment. The organization has thus far been unable to secure new capital. LIV's championship tournament is scheduled to take place in Michigan in late August, and sources close to the organization speculate the league will go belly up before then.

00:09:22

PepsiCo has enlisted 41 driverless trucks to deliver their products to stores across 3 states. The bulk of PepsiCo's new fleet are seeing immediate dispatch in Arizona, with 35 driverless box trucks delivering everything from soda to Doritos to stores near you. PepsiCo's Senior VP of Supply Chain said, quote, "These operations that we're running today are real. They are running in multiple markets, in live network, not like some experimental test environment." The trucks have multiple cameras mounted to the front and back and also utilize radar and LiDAR to help determine what's on the road. The interior still has a steering wheel, though future models may no longer require them. And several screens that show what the cameras are seeing. According to PepsiCo, their new fleet will not go over the speed limit and has not had a single wreck since the dispatch began.

00:10:11

A powerful earthquake has rocked the southern Philippines, killing several and causing tsunamis. Daily Wire assistant editor Andy Valdez has more.

00:10:19

As children were getting ready for their first day of school this morning, an earthquake hit the Philippines with a magnitude of 7.8. 19 people were killed, 130 injured, and 12 are still missing. The initial earthquake was followed by a series of aftershocks, with one reaching a magnitude of 6.7. There was a lot of damage in the city of General Santos, with rubble in the streets, cracks appearing across a highway, and the collapse of a central 3-story building. Operations were also paused at the city's main airport, and authorities issued tsunami warnings, but luckily the tallest wave reached only 5 feet.

00:10:56

The beloved Mr. Rogers program is now on YouTube. Daily Wire Entertainment reporter Amanda Harding has the story.

00:11:03

Late last week, Fred Rogers Productions started a channel dedicated to the iconic children's host. As Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood nears its 60th anniversary, the channel will begin republishing clips along with full episodes, some of which haven't been seen for decades. Kristen DiQuollo, the creative director of the new channel, said, quote, our goal is to help make Mr. Rogers more discoverable and shareable than ever. Rogers famously disliked television when he first came across it until he realized it could be used to educate. Now, in a saturated online market designed for binge-watching and content slop, especially aimed at kids, maybe Mister Rogers' Neighborhood is exactly what the younger streaming audience needs.

00:11:42

And Gordon S. Wood, one of America's most influential historians and a leading interpreter of the Revolutionary era, has died. The historian passed away Sunday at 92 after being struck by a car in Providence, Rhode Island. In his Pulitzer-winning book, The Radicalism of the American Revolution, Wood argued that the rebelling colonists rose up against an entire worldview, not just taxation. And he helped generations of readers see the founding as a sweeping transformation of American society and political culture. Rest in peace.
