Welcome to the Fantasy Footballers Podcast with your hosts Andy Holloway, Jason Moore, and Mike Wright.
Oh, welcome in. The Fantasy Footballers, Monday, September 21st. Welcome into the show, Jason Moore, Mike Wright, Andy Holloway. Wow. Another weekend.
Yeah.
Didn't quite escape the injuries like we did in the first week.
No.
No, we should have seen it coming after week 1.
It always—
it's—
it— It always gets you.
They, yeah, it'll, it'll return to the mean. And it was very mean.
Yeah, it was very mean. So much to talk about today. We got Monday Punday. We got NFL news, studs and duds on the show. I'm sure we'll have potentially some, some injury updates even throughout the episode, but happy to have you with us. The community over there at jointhefoot.com, the ultimate dashboard helping you weave your way through Each and every week, the start-sit decisions, all the premium in-season tools. I mean, it was a, it was an adventure. I mean, we were here on Sunday morning watching the rain, watching the fiery heat, 157 degrees on the field.
I think it was like just last week, Jason. Andy's like, I like at least 4 games to be ruined by weather per year.
You got it. Well, Quota filled.
Yeah.
Quota filled in week 2. That was— wait, last week, last week we were big, big dome. I'm speaking on behalf of big dome.
You, yes, please.
We were very kind in saying that what the Buffalo Bills have done with their stadium, we might accept. But this was a real big week for big dome.
Yes, it was.
I mean, there's a lot of rain around the country and there was a lot of poor football.
You guys, you guys talk a lot about, oh, rain doesn't affect anything. And then you spent the whole morning complaining about the rain.
Well, too much. It was rain and wind.
Yeah. No, there wasn't a lot of—
there was—
there was 2 of the games. Yeah.
Okay. So it was the wind that when the ball hit them in the hands, that's the wind that caused them to drop it.
Wait, are you arguing for Big Dome right now? I'm so confused.
Yeah. I'm just saying, you say a lot about rain being no big deal.
Okay. Big Dome is officially changing. Rain is a problem.
Okay.
Rain, rain, go away.
So you're accepting—
I'm accepting your argument on behalf of Big Dome. Put a roof on it.
Welcome to the team.
Andy, maybe I'm just a little bitter because every one of the players that I recommended this offseason decided to get hurt within 5 seconds of the season starting.
It was a real problem for you. Your nickname, if you're new to the show, you got—
Once upon a time.
Once upon a time, you were known as—
I thought we were past this.
As the Fantasy Reaper because you had a knack for getting guys injured.
Yeah.
If I didn't get them injured.
You got them injured.
If you liked someone.
This is your fault.
That means that the Grim Reaper is slowly trailing them and he's going to get them.
Yeah. So let's just recap here. Your fantasy MVP left right here. Alec Pierce.
Yeah. Off with crutches yesterday.
That's cool. Your 3 my guys were De'Jaan Stribling.
Out.
Ladd McConkey.
Barely survived.
Injured, barely in and currently injured.
He's playing.
And Caleb Williams got injured out.
It's possible that Caleb had the most severe 1-week injury of all time.
Yeah, we're not really sure yet, but it looked like maybe career-ending. It sure does.
On the field.
Tell me one thing. Who do you like right now?
I'm not mentioning any of my players on my team.
Well, like who?
I like Zay Flowers.
He's just going to mention all Mike's guys.
I like Dalton Kincaid.
Kenneth Walker. Do you like Ken Walker, Andy?
I overpower him with Kenneth Walker, Jason. We're good.
Okay.
Yeah. I mean, we had— That's a powerful statement. No, I look, I guess I'm sorry. Also, I mean, apparently if your number is in the mid-teens, you're also in jeopardy. I'm looking at the board here. 14, 15, 15, 18. Maybe like I'll pick up my guy in a different—
Yeah. Obviously it's all tongue in cheek. It sucks that, you know, it's just terrible, terrible timing. By week 2, all 4 of your guys went down to injury, but Well, you know, Ladd will be back. Ladd looks great. Caleb Williams seems like he's going to be back sooner rather than later. TBD. So yeah.
And then last week on Friday, there was some drama around the studio. And by drama, I mean our producer screaming his head off for 8 to 10 hours.
Also, Foot Clan, I know Jeremy and I can look a little bit alike, but I got accused of some things in that video. Of which I am not in.
A lot of people were like, I knew Jason was the one who drops all the curse words.
Yeah, he's the potty mouth. Like, that's— I'm not in this video. And I saw comments, oh, just like Jason to be in the fridge in the background. That wasn't you either.
Oh man.
That was our developer.
You were really trying.
That's true. He looks just like us.
Oh no, is that Schneider?
Yeah, Schneider, me and you. I mean, me and Schneider, our team name in League of Record is Dead Ringers.
Yeah. So, because you look like each other.
And then, yeah. So we, you know, I'm just going to bring something up here. And I'm not saying that I am against it because I find it as a form of respect. But basically what happened on Friday for the, the 3 of you that didn't see the screaming video that went out all over social media, I made a very fine trade, normal trade in our league record.
Correct.
In fact, I don't think it's a good trade for me from a value perspective. It's a good trade for me because my team had one weakness. tight end, and I traded Kyle Pitts and 2 picks, a 2nd and 4th round pick in our, in our keeper league. Context is needed for the picks. But it is the best pick that you can trade, a 2nd. You cannot trade a 1st.
But it's a 3-keeper league. So it's effectively a 5th.
So I trade again, it is, but we've done, we've seen these trades with the 2s and the 3s and the 4s for years. This is not a weird trade for Tucker Kraft. But the problem was Is that just the day before, and you can see he's still, he is still, there is heat coming off the top of his head. He is not over it at all.
I'm biting my tongue back here.
He is not over it. You might not bite it for long. I know. But what happened was, is the day before, apparently there had been these internal conversations that nobody's going to trade with Andy and give him a tight end. And, and Papa Josh said, stay strong. Hashtag down with Andy, which By the way, collusion, of which I don't care because it would have been collusion if we made an agreement to both not trade with you.
He was trying to influence me.
There's a hashtag. I don't know what a hashtag is.
I never said that, you know, there was no agreement like we're not going to trade with you.
I'm not actually protesting because in my opinion, the qualifier of—
The whole league knew what was going on.
The qualifier of bad collusion is that an individual team benefits through collusion. This was more like I don't benefit from all of you.
Yes.
Making me public enemy number one.
Yeah, let's be clear. The entire league is openly colluding against you because you are a super team and we want you to die.
It's like back when the Patriots— Feed me.
Feed me. Not Josh.
Oh, Josh is trying to help you. So yeah, the real issue here was that Josh and his co-manager basically in DMs told Jeremy, do not trade him your tight end. We will not trade him the tight end. We will not trade him his backup for Kenneth Walker. And then the next day they go and do it.
Yeah, he was at the front of the line screaming. I mean, he's like Braveheart. He's like, hold.
Yeah.
Hold.
And then he runs away.
And then he homers into the bushes as all the soldiers—
you guys stay here. So, so for the cavalry's on the way.
So that's the context because there were people out there that were like, what is wrong with this trade? Nothing. If this trade was between 2 other managers in the league, nobody bats an eye or even cares. Probably praises Josh for the value he got. It was the fact that there had been this Like Al has, he has Trey McBride and Kittle. So I obviously am trying to go for his extra tight end and he's just slamming the reject button over and over and over. And then the next day his, and it didn't help that Tucker Kraft's on his hometown team and he loves him, but that's what happened. So that's the context for it. It wasn't that bad of a trade. They just want me to lose real bad.
Do you want to know why? Because again, in our league, a really good score is 130, 135. You should win. You scored 175 last week. You are currently at 179 with a player left and with Tucker Kraft doing nothing. So yeah, your team is stupid.
All right. We, we once again put out the call for the Monday Punday. It was, I mean, I went through them this morning, 99.999% negative hatred.
It was a terrible week.
I mean, we were injuries. Disappointments.
Rain, bad football, not a lot of touchdowns. We were going into halftime of the early slate and it was like, who scored?
There was Derrick Henry.
Yeah. Trevion Henderson. It was like nobody.
Yeah. And then again, a bunch of the negative ones were about injuries, which I avoided, but it's, you know, it was a bad day for a lot of people. The nice thing is, is maybe your opponent also had a bad day. So let's jump into it. Let's get sophisticated and we'll start with some good, like Boss Allen. Oh, I got him.
Yeah. And you had Seedy Lion also making an appearance this week.
How about the Boston TD party?
I like that one.
Yeah, it's a good one.
James Cookin' as well.
Yeah. We also had some big Dak energy this week.
Chris O'Suave.
Yes, he was awesome. And the American Najigba Warrior. That's right.
And my dude, Travion Winderson.
Yes. Amon-Ra. Saint Crown.
And then Davante Swish.
He was awesome this week. They weren't all good. No. Drake Mayday.
Yeah, there we got to have some conversations here. I'll take this one. Colston Hate Land.
Yeah. And this week, despite 21 carries, it was Ashton Empty.
And you had Mazda Marv.
Hey, I like a good Mazda.
Mazda Marv.
Well, you got to do that to Mazda. Yes. Oh, Tucker Crap.
And Dallas got hurt.
Oh, he did.
Travis Ain't Chan Jr. That's good. Oh man. You want to give it to Jason?
Justin Turdsquirt.
Justin Turdsquirt.
We're not above it. We're not above it.
Oh, you hate a good— you hate a bad turdsquirt.
Terror Lawrence.
Loser Burden III.
Yeah. Bad McConkey.
And why not finish it out with Alec Tears?
Justin Turdsquirt? Come on.
I thought you'd appreciate that.
Alec Tears.
Oh man.
Yeah. Hashtag Monday Punday every Sunday night. Share it on Instagram and on X.
What?
Yeah.
Yeah.
We, we look, the Chargers. What did I say last week? If they lose this game back to back at home, Cardinal Raiders. That they might not win again for the next 7 weeks.
They, looking at their schedule, I think there is a real chance.
Buffalo, Seattle, Denver, Kansas City, Rams, Houston, Baltimore.
5 of those 7 on the road.
That they go 0-7, that this team starts 0-7. They look broken.
No, that'll be 0-9 if they lose all those games.
I mean, that is insane that Mike McDaniel, oh man.
The—
maybe it was his OC who's now in Minnesota.
Like, if you want to be in the massive panic category, Chargers are number 1 on that board. But you have other teams that are joining. The Falcons look as abysmal as you can look. Tampa Bay, they've continued their complete— I'd be more worried— sale pile at the end of the year.
As Tampa than Atlanta, who's Atlanta has not had a qualified quarterback yet.
No, I agree.
No, first carry of the game by Cooper Rush fumbles the ball. I mean, just—
You also have great teams that have stuff to worry about. I think the Lions have looked, you know, they almost lost week 1. You could argue they should have lost week 1. They've lost some people on defense. And if you look at the record, you know, pre and post Ben Johnson leaving that team, it's You know, you lose a great mind, it's going to hurt you.
You see all the blobfish 2nd and 10 runs this past week?
Oh dude, he loves it.
We do live in a highly criticized world here. Let's talk some news.
News and notes from around the league.
Puka Nacua was, this was talked about over the weekend, questionable for tonight's game. Added to the injury report, hip injury and groin soreness. I don't know which one's which. McVay said groin. Didn't practice Saturday. Trending in the wrong direction according to Adam Schmechter.
Thank you.
Game time decision. But don't worry, guys. In one of my leagues, I look, I just didn't want to mess around with Puka. Didn't have an option to pick up on Monday night. So you played one of your good bench guys. I played Marvin Harrison, who might be the worst player in the history of the National Football League.
He will score The same as Puka if Puka sits.
How many, like, the funny thing about Marv is that after every week of every game, always, he, they asked the coaching staff about why Marv wasn't involved that day. And then the coaching staff comes up with some new, new line. You know, we didn't pass for crap today. I wouldn't look much into it. Or week 1.
Our coverage was rolling over his direction.
Yeah. They played against me before. They knew what to do to shut him down.
He's just so good. Guys, he's just so good. They, they scheme him out.
Oh, do you remember? I don't know if you weren't watching this game. You know, if it was just, if you're on Red Zone or whatever, you might not have seen the brilliant moment on the broadcast when they— we should have taken a picture of this. The broadcast team— It's on Twitter right now. I haven't seen it on Twitter. Puts up this graphic comparing JSN and Marvin Harrison on the screen, just like, hey, let's take a look at the 2 Ohio State guys and how they're, how they're competing. And it was like, Oh no.
At the moment it was 7 for 139 and 2 for JSN.
Who put up a 3rd later.
And 0 for 0 for Marv.
I mean, the fact that they put that graphic up just—
Look, I will apologize for that one.
Yeah.
Because I like, I like the idea that Marv with the thought process was LaFleur would get him going and all the reports in the offseason were very positive. But look, I'll eat that one. That one's not an injury. I can't control the injuries. I can control whether I ever mention Marvin Harrison as a start again. I think the junior.
Yes. The hard part—
back to the old man.
The hard part for Marv is, look, we're in our small sample size. We're in our 2 games. It seems like the Chargers might just be very bad. You had the Cardinals upset the, what, the double-digit spread. And then they are— so you're like, oh, well, maybe the Cardinals are okay. And then they But then they have to play the Seattle Seahawks defense, which is elite. And so moving forward, when they're playing bad teams, I guess Marv will still be bad.
Yes. Yeah.
Yeah.
That was the summary of it. I mean, it's just—
Targets are earned. We've said that. So like targets are a stat that is important because you have to earn the target. You have to get open. You have to be in the right spot.
Quarterback has to trust you.
You have to have your head around watching him, just watching him. Every play. He has no— there's no world where you can throw him the ball.
Mike, your son is in high school football right now. Is there any coaching strategy to when the play is not drawn up for you in particular, just take the play off at wide receiver? Is that what they teach?
Oh no.
Just take the— oh no.
Oh no, they don't.
Does that clue the defense in on maybe where the ball's going to go if somebody just barely runs?
Lollygags.
Yeah. Lollygags down the field. I'm so— I'm so ashamed of him.
Yes. We got the graphic on the screen and they, oh man, just bodied him right on the broadcast.
Why?
I love a good dunk, but why are we doing that? He's our DK Metcalf.
I wish.
Too much to he who you wish.
DK Metcalf is so much better.
I mean, but, but a player who has all the physical gifts and abilities, but something in the motor or energy or You know, something is missing there. I don't know what it is. We've had enough years. They showed Marvin Harrison's first 2 games each of the last 3 years. It's a decline. Like, Marvin's not improving. He's declining. The Cardinals had to go pay Michael Wilson. Trey McBride gets all the targets. Kendrick Bourne is more involved on a weekly basis. I'm sorry. I could talk about it all day.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I'm honestly just disappointed.
6.5% targets per route run.
Ew. All right. So Puka tonight, look, if you have Puka and you, and you're riding dirty into this evening, Malachi Fields, Terrence Ferguson, Tutu Atwell, these are your game day, game time pivots. Those are the options. So you could take a shot. Hopefully you did the smart thing like we say every week, put them in your flex position before the week begins. So you have the ability to go put in whatever if Blake Corum is sitting out there or Singletary or some emergency player. But I'm going to blitz the injuries here, guys. If you have a thought, jump in real quick. DJ Moore day to day expected to practice AC joint sprain. Caleb Williams carted off hamstring injury. Bears optimistic that they've avoided serious injury MRI today.
They have not even— they're not even ruling him out for this week yet, but he'll probably miss a couple.
Saquon Barkley missed most of the game on Sunday. If you watched, it was a lot more Will Shipley than it was Tank Bigsby from a snap count perspective, but it was not Saquon. MRI for a stinger to evaluate his neck. Jadarrius Price left with an injury, chest injury. Optimism that he avoided significant injury. It wasn't a great day for either of the Notre Dame running backs that came into the, into the league that played each other.
It was a great day for Emmanuel Wilson. It was.
J.K. Dobbins exited with an injury. No, no, it's hamstring.
He said it's just a little. He said he was going to play 17 and this one counts.
Yes, it does.
So if he gets back for week 3, he can still be a man of his word. But I will say that it gave opportunity for Jonah Coleman, who looked great.
Jonah is probably the number one pickup.
Stole, you know, the Broncos won the game. He got a touchdown.
Yeah, I think, I think we got waiver show tomorrow. We'll work through all the rankings. I think Jonah Coleman's near the top, but I think Josh Downs is too.
Sure.
With the Alec Pierce injury and the fact that Keenan looks absolutely donezo. Like Josh Downs got a huge target share. I, you know, Pierce is, Pierce is going to be out for a while. I mean, he left with an ankle foot injury. X-rays were negative, but he left on crutches.
But it's his surgically repaired ankle.
It's a nightmare. And he just got paid. This one sucks too. I mean, there's been a bunch of them. Jonathan Brooks re-aggravated his groin injury. Went to the medical tent, was getting consoled by Chuba Hubbard. I mean, not a fix.
For a guy with the injury history that he has, yikes.
Jayden Daniels.
Yeah.
Left with the dislocated left elbow.
It looked like it was the same exact thing.
I don't know how he doesn't have a brace on. I just don't.
Yeah.
From what I understand, they said this on the broadcast, he doesn't have a ligament in that elbow anymore. So I don't—
It can just flop around.
Well, I mean, or whatever happened with the injury and the surgery or whatever that happened. I don't know. It's like sometimes people live without an ACL like Papa Josh back there. I don't know.
Maybe, maybe I didn't get the surgery and I don't know.
Where'd it go?
I don't know. It just exploded.
Maybe I misheard.
Okay.
If he didn't have surgery, I don't think the ligament disappeared, but that's what somebody said. And clearly this thing can flop out of place anytime he puts his left hand on the ground. How are you not in a brace? I don't know. It's a non-throwing elbow and we don't know how long the prognosis will be.
It's a bummer. He was playing very well.
We'll get more news soon, but I would expect he's going to miss a month at least.
Yeah, it seems like it.
J.K. Dobbins, we talked about Rico turf or a toe injury. Sorry, it could be turf toe. Returned in the second half. Jayden Reed, this was scary. Left on a stretcher, neck injury, compression impact to the top of the head. Did have feeling in his extremities. Very scary one. Probably going to miss time. in concussion protocol, I would guess at least a couple of weeks, but don't know yet. So DeMarcus Robinson, high ankle sprain. He's out for a while for the 49ers. They're going to have to sign somebody because Mike Evans exited with the hip injury as well. Again, doesn't appear to be serious, just like everything they've said about every injury he's had all offseason so far.
I will say that they were trouncing them by the time he left. So I, I can't imagine, like if he had a non-serious injury, he would probably not come back and he didn't. So there is a chance that this actually is not serious.
And by the way, he does have, this would be Jayden Daniels' left arm. He does have a ligament. They're just all completely torn and unrepaired. So that's what it was because they, he had the basically the Tommy John injury in the left elbow, but they chose not to do surgery. It's not his throwing arm. But structurally seems like a problem if those things are meant to be, you know.
Yeah. Not doctors.
Seems like he should have had the surgery.
Perhaps.
Caleb Douglas, walking boot. It's offense rookie. There's an offense that doesn't look good and a schedule that looks even worse.
Yeah. They're, they're going to be really up there for the number 1 pick.
I mean, the, I believe they play Oh yeah. Kansas City this week and then Minnesota and then Cincinnati before the bye. Who—
but if you haven't been paying attention, Cincinnati's defense looks fantastic.
My Bengals.
The Bengals defense—
It might look better than yours.
Really does look like they're a regular NFL defense that can shut someone down, which we haven't seen that in a minute.
So Jayden's prognosis is can rehab for a few weeks and return with a brace for the rest of the year, or you can have surgery in the offseason, or you can have surgery now and the season's over.
Oh man.
So I'm sorry, Commanders fans. It's going— it's not going well.
Nope.
Dallas Goedert, right knee injury right after he was performing well. I'll say like if Saquon misses time and Goedert misses time, they were real close to losing that game to the Titans.
They should have. They looked so bad.
I mean, the Eagles looked Only DeVonta Smith looked good in that game to me.
Yeah.
Where, where's Lemon? I mean, he's slithering somewhere, man.
I actually think Mekhi Lemon, from what I understand, I think he ran more routes than Dontavian Wicks. It's just all the targets went to Dontavian Wicks.
That is correct.
David Njoku and Charlie Kohler to add injury to insult. Both left early against the Raiders. Kohler was with an arm sling after the game. Njoku was carted off. So yeah, Aronde Gadsden, who scored, right? I mean, back into the conversation and my goodness, there you go for the news. We'll take a break. We'll turn it positive and talk about the studs before we hit the duds.
All right.
Man, what a week. Let's get into it.
This week's fantasy stud muffins.
Like I said, waivers show tomorrow. And if you want custom waivers for your league, that's in the ultimate dashboard at jointhefoot.com if you want to get in there. Top 5 scorers of the week. The top 2 were on Thursday. Josh Allen and Jared Goff, 1 and 2. Dak, Mahomes, and Purdy finishing it out. Purdy was one intentional grounding throw, I think, from the first 100-perfect QBR in the history of the NFL. That's how efficient his game was. I think he was 15 for 16 and absolutely just carved him up. It seemed nonchalant.
But look out next week for Brock Purdy. It's the Arizona Cardinals.
Oh man. Purdy's really good. And he got to play the Dolphins whose defense is as good as their offense.
Yeah. Well, look, Purdy was the start of the week. Dak was the start of the week. Nice to see those guys in the top 5. You know who looked like maybe behind Purdy, maybe the 2nd best quarterback of the week?
Dude. Yes.
Or on the Sunday at least. Bryce Young.
Yes.
He was sizzling.
Bryce.
And he looks like he was having a good time.
This is unbelievable.
This would be so good for fantasy if we can have, you know, a young quarterback that was supposed to be great be good. I mean, 2 weeks in, you can't ask for more than he did. I know that both matchups were easy-ish. You know, he hasn't faced a gauntlet schedule yet the first 2 weeks. You'd hope that he could do what he did, but he did. So that's great for Coker, for Ted McMillan, and of course the walrus.
Yeah. You know, even have that.
We, we do somewhere, somewhere.
Thank you.
But their, their pass rate over expectations, like their neutral pass rate, it's very high right now. The Panthers and Bryce Young. Best 2D. I didn't think it could be done, but this is incredible.
Incredible.
Uncrustable.
This was Uncrustable. Tyler Shuck got it done, 252.
Oh man.
Had a rushing touchdown and a passing touchdown. Leads the NFL in passing yardage with Bryce Young just behind.
Yeah, he does. Gets the Raiders and the Falcons for the next 2 weeks, which is great. And then maybe, maybe, maybe you get Jordan Tyson back. But Vaillant has looked good. Juwan Johnson has looked good. Olave is a machine. So this is a very exciting And, you know, he rushed the ball 9 times. So for fantasy football, and they, they won on the road. This is a team that was like a play, one play from being 2-0 on the road against the Lions, on the road against the Ravens.
With one of the worst halves of football I've ever seen a quarterback play.
Right now the game goes on and Chuck has gotten better over the back half of these games. They were down 17-6 at one point. Baltimore, I thought like the Saints are lucky they caught Baltimore with the diminished weaponry, but they also played well.
They did the thing that I don't understand it, but it happened so much over the last 10 years where all of a sudden the team that has Derrick Henry loses a game that they were winning because they stopped giving him the ball. It was like he was dominating them and then they gave him like 5 carries in the second half and so lo and behold, it was worse.
Yeah. And a shout out for a competent performance by Cam Ward this week. Kirk Cousins was great. He was, he was on the Fantasy Faceoff on Friday. And then Drew Lock also credit where credit is due. Really just executed the offense to perfection.
It was, it was 5 carries for Derrick Henry in the second half.
That's not okay. What are you doing?
He was, he was so good in the first.
I mean, I guess that game got tied up pretty quick, but still it was just It was too much on Lamar's shoulders. Well, the top 5 running back scorers of the week were familiar names. It was all the big boys. Jonathan Taylor, Kenneth Walker with no touchdowns, CMC with 2 of them, James Cook with 1, and then Jahmyr Gibbs with 1. Big boys doing, doing the work. I mean, Kenneth Walker right now, Mike, you want to wax poetic for a second? I mean, it's just been majestic.
He is exactly who I thought he was. We have a tweet from Next Gen Stats. Kenneth Walker III forced 15 missed tackles in week 2, exceeding his career high of 14 that he set in week 1. Walker has forced 14 or more missed tackles 3 times since 2024. The entire rest of the NFL has done so twice.
You might want to start playing people against the Colts. The Colts have given up, I believe, the most yards through 2 games to start a season ever. It's not good.
But also, I mean, and this is—
they played Henry and Walker.
So it's Yeah, tough matchups, but the utilization of Walker is incredible. 10 targets. It reminds me very much of what we saw last year from Christian McCaffrey, where when you can be the 2nd highest scorer on a week and not get a touchdown.
Yeah. How, how, oh, and he had 3 chances on the goal line.
How do you have, how do you have bad games? Feels impossible. It's injury or he's awesome.
Yeah. Let me ask you this question right now because He got into the end zone. Rashee Rice did. But the targets, the utilization, it's been different. And by the way, Travis Kelce looks slimmer and faster than he looked last year. Would you trade Rashee Rice away on the high of the touchdown this week?
We would have traded him away on the high last week.
Yeah.
So yeah, probably.
He, did he get a touchdown this week? I think his touchdown was week 1. This week he was 4 for 83.
Oh yeah. Yeah. More yards.
Oh, my bad.
I don't think you have to force him away, but—
6 targets this week too.
But I'm willing to. I'm willing to move on.
He also had— didn't he have like a complete garbage play? Wasn't it like right before the half or something where he got— There was some play.
Yes. Oh yeah. It was a complete throwaway, like 30 yards for free for nothing. Yeah. It was like instead of the Hail Mary, they just threw it underneath and let him run for 4. 30, 40 yards. Let's talk about Amariyan Hampton. 23 carries, 94 yards, a rushing touchdown, a fumble, another fumble.
And this fumble cost him the game.
He leads all running backs in yards after contact. We watched this game. We watched them all, but we watched this game closely. And like when he gets moving downhill, he breaks through people. Here's the wild thing about Hampton. One of the differentiators between him and Achane to me was, hey, you want running backs on a good team. I'm not sure that that's what he is going to be.
Yeah, that was part of the—
The next 7 weeks is a gauntlet. So I liked what I saw, but I don't like the fact that this team can't move the football.
He looked really, really good. He had a fantastic fantasy output.
Yeah.
They used him in the screen game. And I mean, you can't ask for him to do much more other than not fumble. But It will. It's funny to think like maybe he's on a bad team.
Yeah, it's, it's, I think the actual player, the metrics look good, but the team looks bad.
Derrick Henry, you're not getting targets for Hampton.
No, that's been, and it's, you know, the, that's a problem.
McDaniel coming over. I think the biggest surprise for me is the lack of running back targets.
Like, was that It's funny because the 2 targets he got, I think, were both play— like they were designed plays. I remember one of them was a really nice play, totally designed for him. It's the checkdowns that aren't coming. Like that's where I would expect, especially with what we've seen the first couple of weeks from Justin Herbert, who has been a checkdown machine. When he had Austin Ekeler, it was like, oh, let me check this ball down. Things are getting hairy. Let me check this ball down. He's not doing that. He needs to be doing well.
And here's something to think about because I was just looking into this. Part of the thought was, hey, Achane got a bunch of work in the passing game because Tua loves to check it down and Malik doesn't. And it was Mike McDaniel. And then, well, Mike McDaniel is going to come over here and throw the ball a bunch to Omari Hampton. Right now, Achane's on pace for more targets this year than last year with Mike McDaniel and Tua Tagovailoa. He's on pace for 93 targets. Last year he had 85 targets. Sometimes it might be, it's the player that overwhelms the situation more than the scheme because, you know, I was expecting more passing game work from Hampton as well.
Yeah, we all were.
And Keaton Mitchell has been involved. So yeah, I mean, I don't think Hampton is somebody you panic on right now.
No.
I think he's going to be a solid running back. But when you don't win football games, it's unlikely he'll be a top 5 type of contender. You're talking probably on fringe 10. running back 1 range right now is how I'd look at him. Yeah, that's like, would you trade? I mean, I would certainly rather have Gente than Hampton, right?
I would rather have Gente than Hampton.
And I don't feel like we felt that way in the draft period. So wide receivers, big names as well. JSN, CeeDee Lamb, Amon-Ra, Ja'Marr Chase, and DeVonta Smith. I didn't think Amon-Ra could get passed and he got passed by 2 players this week. JSN with 3 touchdowns and CeeDee Lamb with 2. touchdowns and looked— I mean, CeeDee Lamb has looked great.
Yeah.
I didn't get any puns in there for George Pickens, but they weren't good.
Yeah.
It's been a, it's been a slow start.
Yeah. Other performances by maybe smaller, you know, expected players. Stefon Diggs, Trey Tucker.
Cody White. Yeah.
Yeah. Cody White, who is a Raiders wide receiver, 2 touchdowns on 2 targets, which is wild. He was elevated from the practice squad. But, you know, Diggs has scored twice.
Do you think the Atlanta Falcons wish they had someone like Kirk Cousins?
Yeah, of course they do. Of course they do. Just like all the teams that ever had like Jacoby Brissett and are throwing out Cooper Rushes of the world. I mean, it's, it's rough. Denzel Boston through 2 weeks, wide receiver 18, wide receiver 11, playing every snap, scoring both weeks. Yardage went up to 95 yards. Denzel Boston, man.
So week 1, it was kind of a late game garbagey 50-yard bomb touchdown, but he still, he caught a 50-yard touchdown. It was great. This week he broke tackles.
Oh man.
I fell back.
His touchdown is awesome.
His touchdown was awesome. He's, he's really looked like a man out there. Yes. He's going to be an important pickup. It's tough to rely on, you know, the Browns passing game, but you bet on talent for rookies and he's shown it so far.
He's a son of a gun.
Yeah.
I mean, he got it done.
Watson steals a win.
He didn't have a bad game.
How?
He didn't have a bad game.
How on earth does Tampa Bay not win that game?
I mean, that's—
You have a bajillion hour delay. There's 2 minutes left and all you got to do is score a touchdown.
I haven't seen a I've never seen a quarterback look worse on deep balls this year than Baker.
Yeah. I mean, that, that was—
Deshaun Watson, by the way, threw— go ahead, Jay.
I was just going to say when they came back, it was pouring rain. He was, you know, the weather really affected that game.
That's what Baker was talking about. Why'd they throw deep on every play then when they came back?
That's what Baker said after, after in the press conference. He was basically saying, you know, we're connecting on that. The balls were really slick and I probably shouldn't. He said afterwards, he probably shouldn't have been throwing it deep and should have been checking it down. But hindsight's 20/20, didn't do it in the game.
Deshaun Watson was 24 for 30 with 80% completion, 238 and 2, no turnovers.
The opposite of whatever hindsight is. What do we call this?
Foresight. Sure.
Foresight of just watching it in real time going, what are we doing? You just, you have, you have half a field to go and you have 2 minutes to do it.
3rd and 15, you're going deep so that you can have to go deep again on 4th and 15.
Ridiculous, man.
That team is the number one contender for midseason firing. By far.
Sure.
Because they almost did it in the offseason. They fired everybody else and let Todd Bowles stay around and they looked terrible. Hey, Jaylen Waddle, there you are. 8 for 138, Jaylen Waddle.
This was the—
we got at least one bounce back.
This was the game we said was the perfect test, like the perfect type of defense where it's average. It's not a bad gimme team. It's a team that can score. Does Jaylen Waddle command the targets? And he did. Double-digit targets. 8 receptions, 138 yards. That week 1 in Kansas City, Kansas City just shut down the Broncos. I'm throwing that in the garbage and I think Jaylen Waddle is going to be very, very good the rest of the season.
I think Deshaun Watson was the 4th highest passer rating of the week. I don't think it's going to be Shedeur at home next week.
No, it won't.
Tight ends. Is that where we're moving to?
Yep.
Travis Kelce, number 1. Oh, and he looked great. He just did. And they don't— I don't think the Colts know how to play defense. I really don't because there were multiple like breakdowns where Travis Kelce is just left wide open. Nobody covers him.
Kenneth Walker is a— it's a problem for everybody else's defense. Like Travis Kelce will remain very startable because everyone, you have to be terrified of Kenneth Walker.
Yeah. And that's what they wanted when they went out and got him. Dalton Schultz.
Oh, the doctor said.
Mike's start of the week.
12 for 140. It wasn't Knoll. It wasn't Hutchinson. It wasn't Booty. It wasn't John Wayne.
Whatever.
I don't know what his first name is. That's not nice. I would love to know it.
I just don't.
Dalton Kincaid, 19 points. Jake Ferguson got in the action. He took the spot of Pickens.
Jared Wayne.
Jared Wayne.
Yeah, Ferguson. It's not that far from John Wayne.
If you're wondering where George Pickens' production went, it went to Ferguson this week.
And then Darren the Walrus, you know, 3 for 33 and 2. That's kind of what he did last year in Miami. It was touchdown central for him. Did you see what I tweeted this morning about the, the numbers for Tyler Warren are ridiculous.
Oh yeah.
He is, Jason, through 2 weeks, he has 9 catches for 34 yards.
Gross. Yeah. Colston Loveland's like, I could never get that. No.
I mean, but he's had a touchdown in both weeks.
He's had a touchdown in both, but 13 yards and 21 yards on 3 and 6 catches. It's wild, dude.
I will say that the target share, it hasn't been abysmal. 5 targets week 1, 7 targets this week. I expected far more.
Well, maybe with Pierce out, maybe you'll get it.
Yeah. I mean, I, you know, this is, this is a player I think who should be, you know, really getting 10 targets a game.
But happy or sad here. I'm going to blitz them real quick. Top 12 tight ends by ADP. Happy or sad? Brock Bowers.
Sad.
Trey McBride.
Super happy.
Colson Loveland.
Whoa.
Super sad.
Tyler Warren.
I think you're happy.
Tucker Kraft.
I guess because of the touchdowns. You'll be all right.
You knew what you were signing up for. You're neutral.
Sam LaPorta.
Meh. Meh. Harold Fannon. Sad. Sad.
Kyle Pitts.
Super sad.
And then 3 in a row late round tight ends. You ready? George Kittle, Dalton Kincaid, Travis Kelce.
Yeah.
And then Dallas Goedert now injured.
Yeah, he's hurt.
So. All right. We'll take a break. We'll talk duds.
Pooped in his big boy pants.
Where do you think Justin Turdsquirt came from? We have a segment that's literally called Pooped in Your Big Boy Pants. We're not above it. I will say this, man. Nobody helped Justin Herbert this week. 15 for 27, 192 and 1, threw 2 picks. I mean, there are, there are interceptions that are your fault and there are interceptions that are not your fault. He had one of the not your faults in this one where I believe it was Brennan Thompson juggled the ball 15 times and threw it into the air. So many drops, but also, you know, barely 50, 50% completion percentage for him with all those drops. I mean, I don't know. He's a mess. You can, if you're, if you're looking at, will you drop him? Yeah, go ahead. The next 7 weeks are a gauntlet.
Yeah.
Yeah. I mean, you would, you would much rather have like Purdy might even still be on your waiver wire. People just never want Brock Purdy.
Did you get an update there, Ben Johnson? According to Adam Schefter 4 minutes ago, Caleb Williams will likely miss some time.
Okay.
Makes sense.
Week to week.
So you figure we haven't, heard the official ruling, the grading, but assuming this is like a grade 1 hamstring that you would expect him to miss 2 or 3 weeks, hopefully not go on IR and be back in a month and be exciting again.
Drake Maye, 14 for 22, 208 yards, no touchdowns.
He's not going to be good until AJ Brown comes back. I think the loss of Stefon Diggs and Booty being replaced by AJ Brown, who is not there now. It just seems like he really doesn't have someone reliable to go, you know, to pass the ball to.
Yeah.
It's like Hunter Henry.
No, it hasn't. I mean, it hasn't looked good. Trevor Lawrence, 17 for 29 for 189. It was a really down day for Trevor Lawrence. Lamar Jackson didn't have enough help in my opinion. 21 for 31, 235 and 1, 1 pick. Barely ran the football and, you know, knows the fact that Zay Flowers, if you just remove him and this is possible, like Mark Andrews is toast. I mean, that dude is not a, not a game-changing asset in any way. And without Jacoby Lane, who would have had a huge chance, you were throwing the ball to what was it? Webster?
Yeah.
This is Bateman.
Bateman had a big day. He finally came through on the The promise of like Rashad Bateman always is the, he should be good. He should be good. Why is he not good?
Yeah, I want to go back.
I want to go watch the second half of that game again and just figure out what happened because it seemed like everything in the first half was going to be perfectly fine for Lamar.
Yeah, he got off to a hot start. They, they jumped out to an early quick lead.
Fell asleep at the wheel.
Yeah, I will say it. For, for teams like with the Patriots and with the Ravens, when you have one alpha wide receiver and not a lot behind him, losing that guy, it seems very similar where it's like he really did not have someone reliable.
Jordan Love, 16 for 29 for 144 and 2.
Jordan Love was in the other one of the weather games.
Jason, I hate this guy now.
Jason is—
I hate him. Jason is—
Jason is going to get—
you guys were just crushing everyone in that game, but no one was good.
But neither offense.
This is not about that. No, this is about our prize picks lineup where 2 weeks in a row I'm going to be shamed. But the reason, the reason why I'm shamed—
Look in the mirror, bro. Sure.
No, it's—
I did bring it up.
Yeah. But my point is it's both weeks Jordan Love on the Green Goblins, which are like the The gimmicks. 100 and he couldn't throw for more than 145 yards against the Jets.
Nope. Boo.
I mean, I guess Jayden Reed is everything to Jordan Love.
It was a bad week for that entire matchup.
Yeah. I think I'm—
there was rain.
I'm mostly throwing that game away.
Yes, I am.
Baker Mayfield, 21 for 34 for 182. Boy, when he runs around like crazy and completes passes, he's pretty cool. When he runs around like crazy and airmails everybody, not so cool.
Again, bad weather, but it's not, it's not just been recently. He hasn't scored 20 fantasy points since week 10 of last year. Second half of last year, the Bucs looked bad. He looked bad. Their offensive line looked bad. Yeah. I mean, it has followed through to this season.
Watson had a great game in the bad weather. So he didn't make good decisions, I think. I think the downfield stuff and Ibuka. I mean, we're going to have to talk about it. David Montgomery. Oh boy. 6 for 10.
All right. The Montgomery argument. We're 1 to 1.
Yeah.
I mean, this, this one without Nico. I mean, it was, it was really, you're playing the run in this game.
It feels like that would be like, I mean, without Zay Flowers, you're playing the run, right? With Henry and he was fine.
Yeah, but Henry is—
that's where it is.
Yeah, exactly.
It's a level thing.
David Montgomery is a— this is an opportunity play. Like David Montgomery is good enough to capitalize on a good situation.
All right.
Just wild when your quarterback puts up 350 yards.
Let me ask you a question.
All right.
Do you want me to press this button with Travis Achane Jr.?
Oh yeah. Oh yeah.
Oh yeah.
Yeah. Full panic.
It's also ridiculous what the team—
I mean, what are they doing?
8 carries, 25 yards for the context. 2 targets, 2 catches for 6 yards. Tons of Kamara on 3rd down. John Daigle pointed out that the Saints gave Travis Achane Jr. $28 million in guaranteed money and Kenneth Walker received $28.7 million in guaranteed money. And the share of backfield touches through 2 weeks, Achane is 57% and 40%.
Kamara had more opportunities in the first half.
You can't even blame him.
Kamara, they just went out and they paid a ton of money. They paid a ton of money to bring this player in. And while he was there, they brought a withered old off of injury Alvin Kamara and had him play.
Withered.
Withered's a—
that's a tough word.
That's how it feels.
Didn't they cut his money?
What's that?
Yes.
They cut his money.
Yes.
To keep him around. To make him stay.
They gave him 9.
rushing attempts. Kamara, while he turned it into 15 yards, 1.7 yards per carry. But don't worry, they also target him 6 times in the, in the passing game where he turned that into 7 yards. Dude, what, what are you doing?
Achane was all the way up at 3 yards a carry. It— that's who you got to give the ball to.
One of the funnier—
15 opportunities.
Yeah, it's nuts.
Funnier tweets of the weekend, friend of the show Josh Norris was It's like, is the Travis Achane Jr. contract, are they laundering money? Because why on earth would you give a running back?
And they won.
That, I don't care that they won.
No, I know.
You still don't care. They're making the, yeah, they, I bet they wish they had the money for a different position.
We spent a year on rational coaching last year with Charbonnet and Ken Walker. This one, there is no way they were doing the right thing with Ken Walker and yet they won. And so they kept doing it. It's just, this shit, this is panic.
I don't—
Achane is not—
I don't understand that.
He's not even positioned to be an RB2 right now.
No, he's— well, I mean, he's not— I don't think he's that great as a player. This is a player I think Mike and I have been down on pretty much most of his career. He's had a lot of touchdown success, which has helped his fantasy outputs. Coming over, we were hoping that because of the money, they turned him into a 3-down, kind of a bell cow usage, and they didn't. They were doing the same thing with Kendre Miller last week. Then Alvin Kamara this week, they, they are not going to seemingly make him the engine of the running game.
Yeah. Through 2 games, he has 6 carries in the first half. That's total.
Okay.
Jeremiah Love, 9 for 29. It was a—
another one. Okay.
It was a bad game against a great defense. Cardinals, I think, threw for about 115 yards. It was This game was nasty.
Was it tied at halftime?
7-7 at halftime.
7-7 at halftime.
I thought maybe.
Honestly, the Cardinals came out. They looked great for the first half as far as like, you know, hanging.
It was one big play.
One play, one broken play for JSN, an 83-yard touchdown. And then it was 7-7 at the half. The Cardinals imploded and the Seahawks took over in the second half. But I also think part of that Something happened with Jacoby Brissett because he came out in the second half.
Yes.
And could not get anywhere near a receiver. I mean, uncatchable target after uncatchable target. And so it was all 3 and outs. The Cardinals didn't have any time to possess the ball, which meant, you know, it's like you say, okay, Jeremiah Love, well, they're still involving Tyler Allgeier. He didn't do it. Tyler Allgeier had 5 carries. The Cardinals had no— the Cardinals did not play offense in this game.
Yeah. Javonte Williams. Are you— what are your thoughts on Javonte through 2 weeks?
Looks bad.
12 for 30.
Looks horrible. 12 for 30?
Yeah. And remember, any run you run—
Did his big run come back? Did that get called back?
What was his long on the week?
Oh, it had to have gotten called back. His long says it was 9 yards. This is what I remember, like a 30. Oh, it did. I remember it now. It did get called back. He had a very, very long run right after I was dunking on him.
Yeah. So he needed some holding to get him there.
Yes, it's Amari DeMarcato. Well, I mean, I don't know how high up people will be talking about him, but longer term, you keep— if you're the Cowboys, I know you gave Javonte the money. You can't keep doing that.
They'll keep doing it for a while.
They'll keep doing it for a while. He played 80% of snaps. They, they won the game handedly. Dak was awesome. I don't think they look at anything bad there, but I will say from our perspective, The juice that is required for fantasy points, he is not showing it.
By the way, that was the— to roll back to the Cardinals and Jeremiah Love, that was the first time that the Cardinals did not complete a 10-yard pass since 1987. This game started with 3 or 4 targets to Trey McBride. He was my less pick on Friday for under 60.5 yards. And through about 5 seconds of this game, I'm like, that is the dumbest pick I've ever done. I don't think he caught a pass in the second half.
Something had to have happened to Brissett.
That was a Theo Mackey tweet.
Brissett had to get injured because he went from week 1.
Brissett was seeing ghosts, man. And the first drive, he was so uncomfortable.
This game just looked like, just looked like what he did last year. And then from that point on the rest of the game, he couldn't, he couldn't hit the backside of a barn.
Quinshon Judkins, 12 for 21. Tried really hard though on all of them. He tried so hard on all of those runs, guys. He did catch, he is much more involved in the passing game now that Dillon Sampson's been out. 5 catches for 27 yards. Rhamondre fumbled. The only thing you can't do, Rhamondre. And he fumbled. And then Trevo scored. It was a— how long was that run? 40, 39 yards?
Something close to that.
So he had a 39-yard run, got a bunch of work after that.
He was— Tre'Vion was 16 for 76 and a rushing touchdown. Looked great. I mean, obviously the fumble that Rhamondre had seemed like You know, that, that took his utilization down. He only had 6 carries.
He was, he was 2.3 a carry on his other 15 carries. That's the, that is, that's what you get. That's the Trevo experience. You get the chance at the big play, but between the tackles you end up, I mean, like Rhamondre was not bad between the tackles, 6 for 43, but he fumbled and then Trevo gave them juice. And look, the offense is kind of weird and broken right now in New England.
So do not understand why they are not getting Travion Henderson. In the passing game.
Receiving work.
Put him out in the slot.
Yes.
Put Rhamondre in the backfield and put Trevo in the slot.
I agree. And then, you know, Bijan did his best.
Yeah, that's another—
He's doing his best.
He tries so hard and he's so good. But when you don't have a quarterback, and right now the Falcons do not have a quarterback until one of Pua gets back there.
You might be able to end that sentence right there. They might not have a quarterback. We got to remember that like before the injury, like Tua was going to get this job.
Yeah, but I can't imagine.
Jack Strand didn't look good.
No, but that's what I'm saying. Cooper Rush and Jack Strand, they're so incompetent, incapable.
Yeah, I know. But I mean, I think Penix is a bottom third starter.
But he's a starter.
Yeah.
Okay.
Ashton Gentry, he tried hard as well. 21 for 48. They won the game. 4 for 15 in the passing game. Just didn't get into the end zone. Chase Brown, 20 for 80, putting him here.
This is rude.
This is not a— this is not a dud.
That's rude.
And they were up so much.
20 for 80 is like, that's a good game.
Yeah.
And the Bengals were up.
Brooks, that's rude.
So much that where you usually get a lot of passing work from Chase Brown, like borderline dud. One of your picks was the receiving work for him. And they just, they, they didn't need to throw. They wanted to run the clock out.
My prize picks, I had Chase Brown in there. It was 21 or 21.5 receiving yards. He got 2, which I believe Chase Brown had been basically over 21 forever.
We didn't talk about Burrow because he didn't have like some kind of superstar game, but the, the target share to wide receivers got fixed this week.
Yes.
Tee Higgins and Ja'Marr Chase.
If you haven't seen the Ja'Marr Chase, his first touchdown, it is electric.
It's one of the best catches I've ever seen. Had the ball thrown across his body, had to basically do a 180.
He was falling down.
He was falling down and had to get his feet in somehow. And he did everything perfect. It's just unbelievable catch.
All right. Wide receiver duds. Tell me if you want the button for any of these guys. Drake London, 10 for 51.
I don't want the button yet on him because again, I think things don't get good, but get significantly better when they get a quarterback there.
Well, it's time to have this conversation. Rome Odunze, Luther Burden. Rome, 3 for 43. Luther Burden, 3 for 32.
I mean, that's their wide receiver 2 and 3 on their team.
Yeah. I always say the— I don't want to hit it, but the biggest panic is the utilization right now of Luther Burden, of him not being a full-time player. Like, it certainly sounded like he was going to be.
Khalif Raymond, man.
It's the stats of that game are— I talked about it on Sunday Live because that was the, that was the weather report game of, oh no, this weather of this level of rain and this level of wind is going to come in and it's going to be a disaster for fantasy. And the fact that Luther and Colston Lovin were bad in week 1 and now they're like, they're not going to be good. Nobody's going to be good. In this type of a weather. I mean, but it's the, it's the on-field stuff that he played. You should be scared.
He played 57% of snaps. Khalif Raymond was at 62%. Raymond was 5 for 40. He's not going to be a startable asset ever.
No, no, he's not.
But he will ruin people.
Exactly.
But so will like Cole Kmet. And like, look, the fact we're talking about a Dunes A. Burden and Loveland, they scored 59 points in week 1 and they didn't do anything. You're going to lose Caleb Williams. Like, this is, this is totally, you should not, there isn't a lot of copium here in this situation. Like Burden, I absolutely believe Burden and Odunze will have a better fantasy year than Khalif Raymond. Both of them will.
I completely agree.
And they will be way potentially below your expectations, hopes, and ADP.
Yeah.
If Khalif Raymond continues playing 50-plus percent of the snaps, That is not going to do it for him, but it will ruin Luther Burden because Luther Burden will not be playing 85% of the snaps.
Zaccheaus was on that team last year, right?
Yes.
Correct.
And he was playing ahead of Luther Burden.
Well, I'm looking, it's like 60. He's got the exact same role. I mean, 60% of snaps. So 53 was the average on the year for Zaccheaus, but he missed a couple of games with injury and left one early with injury. He basically played the exact Khalif Raymond snaps.
The process from fantasy bros this offseason was that Now it will be Luther Burden. Now that he's not a rookie, we saw him kind of explode at the end of the year. He will be a full-time player. Obviously he's drafted as like the wide receiver 15 earlier in the offseason before the injury.
We were out then.
Yes.
When he started dropping, it looked more reasonable. And I don't think that this is a guarantee that he can't get there this year.
He still got the targets.
Yeah.
Like it's just the route share of—
Yeah, he had more targets than Raymond.
Of Khalif Raymond running more routes. Then Luther Byrne is just so, so bizarre.
But don't overreact. Do not overreact to what we're saying about Khalif being involved. This game was— this was the true weather.
It was also the Vikings.
Yes. Vikings, great defense. Weather.
Hit that nasty button, Mike.
Great defense.
Yeah, that's what that game was. And then you had the injury to boot to finish it out.
Just got to hold on.
Jefferson, just 3 for 44. 55 there.
Yes.
Did you hear that over there?
Yeah, they heard it.
Yeah. That's cool. That's cool. I wish I had.
I bet it sounded pretty good, huh?
George Pickens, 6 for 40. It's been— they just haven't hit on the big play yet.
Yep.
Jameson Williams, 2 for 33. I don't want to talk about it. Mike Evans, 3 for 54.
I feel like George Pickens right now is maybe a pretty good trade for Canada.
Yeah, I agree.
They missed on huge plays in week 1. And honestly, 8 targets, 6 for 40. It's not the end of the world. Every wide receiver is inconsistent. Big games are coming.
Evans and Deebo, they were not the beneficiaries of the perfect game, so to speak. It was only, what did I say, 15 completions that were necessary for Brock Purdy. But you want, you know, people spent up on Deebo. He looked fine. They didn't need him.
They didn't need him. And now DeMarcus Robinson is out. Like Deebo has to be a huge part of the offense now.
Yes. And Ladd McConkey, by the way, 3 for 35 was not in on every snap.
Oh, was in on—
Very few.
Yeah.
I mean, this is—
let me see. Let's look it up.
Watching it, I don't know. So it looks like 46% of snaps he was in on. It felt like he was in on 5% of snaps.
So what, how many did you say?
46%.
So here's what's wild. And JJ, friend of the show, you might know him from his bowl cut. When, and we've been talking about this, but we didn't have data to back it up. When Ladd McConkey has been off the field, the Chargers have an EPA per play of -0.41, which is the 2nd worst in all of football. When he's been on the field, that number is 0.12, which is the 7th best in all of football. We've been saying when Ladd is not out there, their offense looks incapable of moving the football at all. Look, if Brandon Thompson and Trey Harris and David Njoku and these guys are going to drop the ball, that's all it is. Ladd can catch.
I think as Ladd gets healthier, this offense will hopefully figure it out, get it together. But we've talked a lot about how brutal their schedule is coming up.
Yeah, they basically protected his ribs on any play that required them to run the football, put him out there when there was a chance to, to use him. But, you know, until he's fully healthy, It's going to be scary.
This next player had the best bad game I have ever seen in my life. Terry McLaurin. He dominated this game. He had a 35-yard touchdown called the touchdown on the field that then was overturned, said it was out of bounds. Then he had a wide open play in the end zone for a long touchdown. that he was completely missed on.
Thanks, Antonio Williams, wide receiver throwing the football.
Yes. Yeah, that was, that was Antonio Williams throwing the football. And then he had another play where he had his man beat, end zone target overthrown. 9 targets ended up with 50 yards. But it was, I mean, 2 for 50 on those 9 targets where it was like, you just, every time you looked, it was like, oh, he's, he's open. He's in the end zone. He's going to have a touchdown. No.
What happens if your 9 targets ends up with 27 yards? What would your name be?
That sounds like DK Metcalf.
That is DK Metcalf. And Mike, I never thought you'd get me to say this.
He sucks.
That dude sucks. And that offense, by the way, we've seen bad offenses in the NFL. That is statistically the worst offense so far through 2 weeks. The Pittsburgh offense. No. Yes.
Statistically.
Statistically.
They're worse than the Falcons.
Yeah. I think EPA per play, they're worse. Whoa. Oh, Atlanta's worse.
Okay.
Second worst. All right. Second worst.
That makes sense. I just couldn't get past Atlanta.
But those 2 are hanging out. You know what I mean?
Oh yeah.
Like they're going out together.
Yeah.
Rodgers is, he's like, hey, Cooper Rush, let me tell you how to play football.
Also that tackle on Rodgers, if you haven't seen it.
And it's close, Jason. They are point Oh, they're so close to being the same.
0.02.
One of them has Cooper Rush. One has Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers and they're that close.
Aaron Rodgers got hit in the back blindsided and he turned into the letter like a backwards letter C. You know, I mean, it was awful.
I've never heard somebody describe. I guess that's what Tyler Shuck did on the goal line. They turned him into a regular letter C.
I mean, it was face off. It was disgusting and he popped right back up, but he was asked after the game.
I mean, you have to roster Metcalf because 9 targets in 10 targets. His— he is leading the NFL in expected— the differential between real fantasy points and expected fantasy points through 2 weeks.
Because he sucks and so does Rodgers at this stage. I mean, obviously first ballot Hall of Famer, all-timer, but he does not have it.
That team is going to have— they need TJ Watt to play more positions than one. Carnell Tate.
They did win the game.
Yeah.
Yeah. Right.
No.
Oh, that was last week.
No.
Oh, that was against—
that was against Atlanta.
That was last week against the worst offense.
Yes.
The only team they could beat was the team that was somehow worse. Carnell Tate just 3 for 27 in this game. It has not gotten going for Carnell Tate. And I don't, I don't know if it can get going. I hope so. He did lead the league, lead the team in target share. I believe it was 29%.
Okay.
Yeah. You're hoping for brighter days. Cam Ward had an okay fantasy output. He did get 2 rushing touchdowns. One was on a super short field. The passing work still to me is leaving a lot to be desired. But I mean, some signs, some, some like it, like the flatline started beeping, you know, did it? I'm safe for Ward.
I think maybe the crash cart is in the other room and they're still grabbing it.
But it was flatlining. I hear— I heard a beep.
You heard a beep.
I heard a beep.
You hoped you might've heard it upstairs.
You go beep. You go, what? Did he move? I didn't see him move.
Okay.
Did he move? I heard a beep.
I mean, I guess we'll give you that. Do we have a beep here? The conversation, I think the number one conversation people want to have, unfortunately, is, is this guy. It is Colston Loveland. 3 targets, 1 for 3. Through 2 weeks, he has 1 catch. His target share. Remember we were complaining about Burden and Odunze?
Yeah.
Just a second ago, it seems like.
Yeah.
Oh, they're doing great.
Burden's target share is 21%. Rome is 13%. Colson Loveland is at 9%. And this—
Loveland is—
This is a real—
It's a complete disaster.
You can't.
I don't even, I don't know what you do with this.
You have to bench him and look for someone else while Caleb is gone.
Oh yeah.
I think you're not, you're not—
you don't believe in the secret Bagent man?
Secret Bagent man.
I feel like, Mike, you, you, you were going to have to do one of the grossest things that you could possibly do, which is to like play Dalton Schultz regularly. Dude, in my head, over Colson Longo. In my head, I was like, Would you play Dalton Schultz?
Of course. Of course.
And I couldn't say it out loud. So I'm glad Andy did.
I mean, like, like this week coming up, because it's true. This is happening.
You have to wait. I mean, at least with Tucker Kraft, right? Like he's in this section. The dude's coming back from a catastrophic knee injury for the first 2 weeks of the year. And one of these games, what did— that's the first time a team has won with under 100 and like one, that Green Bay game, they won by double digits. were under 200 passing yards. Like there's some, they, they were not. Oh no, they didn't win by double digits.
They won by field goal.
Kyle, find me that number because the, the improbability of Green Bay winning that football game was historical performance-wise. So, but, but Loveland, I mean, you can't trade him for anything close to the value you spent on him in the draft. I don't think you should. Here it is. The Packers are the first team since 1941 to win a game with less than 200 total yards. That's what it was. Total yards, 100-plus penalty yards and a negative turnover margin. And they managed to win that game against the Jets.
Gross.
Which I think the win started right when the head coach of the Jets, Aaron Glenn, decided to do another sideline dance of sorts.
The Packers look legitimately bad so far. And it really seems like they need Josh Jacobs bad.
We'll see.
So, but back to Loveland.
Yeah.
It is a hold. It is 2 weeks. But now you have the injury to Caleb that compounds the, like, just go back to the well. You haven't had the big play. You haven't had the touchdown. Look, we just said it. Tyler Warren has, like, very few yards on the season, but he's got 2 touchdowns to kind of, you know, let you get through to where he can start putting up better yardage. Do you think Caleb Williams saves the Packers, by the way, Jason? Or Caleb Johnson?
Caleb Johnson. I don't think that they're going to give him enough work. He did look like their best running back. He really did. Which I, when he, when they got around the goal line, I was like, if Caleb Johnson gets this touchdown, it'd be so great. Unfortunately, it was Marshawn Lloyd. I, you know, they talked about he's earned more. They're going to get him more work. But I do expect news hopefully this week on Josh Jacobs. Seems like it'll be 4 to 6 games. And then, so I don't see Caleb Johnson's not going to be rescuing this team. Josh Jacobs is going to be rescuing this team.
Yeah.
And Micah Parsons.
Yeah, Parsons is the big one.
Yeah, the targets and utilization for Loveland are just scary right now.
Yeah, you have against Philly this week with a backup quarterback. I don't imagine you could start Loveland with any kind of confidence. There'll be waiver tight ends.
I mean, if you don't believe and you want to trade, trade is fine.
There's no world where you can cut Colson Loveland.
No, no. But what is, what is that trade? Like, who would you trade him? I'm going to say it. Oh gosh.
Okay.
You trade him for Travis Kelce.
I don't know. I still think there's—
what's Kelce's roster position?
I'd trade him for Tyler Warren.
No one's doing that.
No, no one's doing that.
That's true. I'd go, I'd go for Ja'Marr Chase.
Yeah, no, I would definitely try and fully roster him.
Would you trade him for George Kittle?
Yeah. Yeah.
So I mean, the Kelce thing's interesting because the way this offense looks right now, he's not going to be coming off the field. The concern with Travis Kelce is the age and like wearing down versus going and getting better.
Yes, Colston Loveland will get better over the course of the season. We just— now the questions are fair of How good does Colston Loveland actually get? Because do we see the greatness of the playoff run or—
It's still just 2 weeks.
Or is it just completely broken?
Yeah, I don't know. It's been so weird. It's not like this offense is bad for 2 weeks. The offense was incredible in 1 week and he just wasn't involved. Kyle Pitts, 3 targets, 1 for 15. So, so the big controversial trade, guys. Tucker Kraft, Kyle Pitts. I really upgraded. I went from 1 for 15. to 2 for 15 and a fumble.
Yeah, it's dumb. That's dumb. You're playing for the championship weeks, the playoffs, which, I mean, Tucker Kraft was a guy that was off my board simply because I didn't want the slow start that we assumed was coming.
Did you see a snap count this past week?
No.
I didn't.
Was it up there?
Until just now.
Yeah.
Week 1, 66%.
Uh-huh.
98.
Get out of here.
98.
Wait, really? 98% of the snaps in week 2?
Yeah.
Wow.
That, that, that they had fewer than 200 total yards. That team was, it was a broken week. They will, they did start the year road, road. They get to come home for 3 out of the next 4. And boy, oh boy, they get to play Atlanta next week. We'll see what happens there. Tomorrow, a waivers episode and it's going to be an important one. There are bigger names than last week.
