This Week 8 episode of the Fantasy Footballers podcast breaks down the week's standout and disappointing fantasy performances, from Tyler Allgeier's big Cardinals game to Adonai Mitchell's breakout with the Jets. The hosts debate whether Allgeier, Emmett Johnson and Mitchell are safe to rely on, weigh the Vikings' quarterback search and Jonathan Taylor trade talk, and discuss injuries to Lamar Jackson, Kyler Murray and others.
Listeners will hear reasoned arguments on which players to start, bench or stash on waivers ahead of the trade deadline, though the hosts note that predictions for these players remain uncertain.

Welcome to the Fantasy Footballers Podcast, with your hosts, Andy Holloway, Jason Moore, and Mike Wright.
Oh, welcome in. And welcome to November, it's Monday. Andy, Mike, and Jason, the Fantasy Footballers Podcast. Back with you. Halloween is over. The costume came off for Kyler Murray this weekend.
He is who we knew he was. I mean, we tried to warn you. We did. I think there was parts of, at least Jason, that believed, you know, it was the Cardinals that were, you know, he would emerge. Like you kind of, kind of the want to see the world burn, kind of go out there, succeed somewhere.
I wanted to see him go out and prove that he was worthy of the number one pick and that the Cardinals ruined his, you know, that the Cardinals were the problem. Obviously, he did win with the Cardinals and we have lost without him. Those are true. He's also been winning with the Vikings, but it's not him.
No, no, he's bad at the game. And it was all the same stuff we saw in Arizona over the, since the injury pretty much, which was.
Cowardice.
Cowardice. Sure. I mean, they had nine, now they got four and a half. And look.
Talk about his height. Don't do that.
Here's the real crazy thing. I believe the Vikings will trade for a quarterback. And because they have to, I think. But the funny part about it is, they traded away J.J. McCarthy for a five, right? And I think they're going to have to give up more than that to get Kirk Cousins or Daniel Jones to come in and replace McCarthy. So you're going to give up more draft capital. I also think their quarterback problem may very well take them out of the Jonathan Taylor sweepstakes. I agree with those that believe that. If you bring Jonathan Taylor into that team, you're still not winning a Super Bowl.
Correct.
And maybe it makes life a little easier on Kyler Murray. I thought one of the things from the weekend in that game that was wild was just a lot of Aaron Jones. Aaron Jones had been banged up and hurt, and then it was tons of Aaron Jones in this game. It wasn't a lot of Jordan Mason. I mean, I don't think either of those guys is good enough to carry the team for sure. But it's just a wild weekend.
It was very wild. I think, like even if you go, like Daniel Jones, whatever, there's no quarterbacks out here who are going to come into Minnesota and change it. That's why I'm on the side of, look, if you get Taylor, you probably don't win the Super Bowl. But if you get Jonathan Taylor, you can change the entire foundation. Like the team is now defense and we run, and Kyler throws the ball like 18 times a game.
As a person who fundamentally believes, Mike, that building a team around running back is 99% of the time the worst decision you can make. However, you meant, you know, CMC, a handful of running backs.
There's certain guys, and certain teams' defenses are strong enough to.
But wouldn't they hamstring themselves from a perspective of finding that next quarterback? Because even if you keep Kyler the rest of the year, it should be quite obvious at this point that he's not it.
No, no, yeah, they know that. But at this.
I just saw Ian Hardest posted the EPA per drop back by year for Kyler Murray. It is, his quote was, "Kyler Murray is pretty easily playing the worst football of his career. It is the lowest of his career."
Nice. You're in that quarterback purgatory now.
It's running out. Time is running out on the Kevin O'Connell experience.
Like you're not going to get one in the draft. You're just going to be back in the free agent. Hopefully someone somehow becomes available. And I don't think that Taylor stops that process from happening next year. Also, I mean, if you're, if while we're going to do this and dunk on Kyler, I do think it is.
Who would you like to dunk on?
It's us.
Oh, on us?
Yeah, we got to.
Oh.
You know who might be a good OC, guys?
Not Mike McDaniel. Go on.
The blob fish.
Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. The blob fish.
Drew Petzing of the Detroit Lions.
Running some cool stuff.
Tight ends up through the.
Maybe that would be Cardinals' problem.
You got the 30 yards off the line of scrimmage creative running play for Amon Ra.
Like he, they fought, they fought through the Minnesota Vikings defense and managed to figure it out in the second half.
Crazy weekend, big time injuries, lots of headlines, lots to talk about. Studs and Duds on the show today. We'll do a bank on it segment.
Oh man, like when one injury ruins.
An entire game.
Multiple fantasy football stars.
Well, let's react the way we always do.
Oh, yes.
With your submitted puns on Monday Punday.
Go ahead, Mike.
Oh, Jonah Swole, man.
Yes, he looked good.
He is thick.
Glee Higgins.
You got Booyah Tutin. Wait, Gardner Manshoot? Like someone played him? Oh, he was still awesome.
Okay.
Jaylen Scorin. Brock Powers unstoppable.
Okay.
Yeah, this is the one.
Only fan ends.
Yeah. Is there a joke in here that I don't understand?
Yeah, there clearly is. If you don't understand that one. Jordan, love you long time.
Okay. Dalton Kincaid.
Oh, Matthew Goldmine.
Yes. We had some bad ones like Denzel Lostin. Our quarterback of Jacobi regret, Jabroni Brissett.
Yes, Omar Pooper Jr.
Yes, yes. Slim Pickens.
Ashton Empty.
Baker Meinfeld.
Yes. Michael Panic Jr.
Nay Flowers.
Oh, it wasn't his fault.
I do not.
He goose.
Oh, Xavier Worthless.
Oh, oh.
Lamar Jackthumb.
Oh, come on.
That one's funny. Jonathan Failure.
Oh, yes. And Dookie Metcalf.
Dude.
Dude.
Dude.
I mean, that bomb drop, not only, like if you drop that and it just hits the ground, that's one of the worst drops of the season. But when you just give it to Denzel Ward.
Yeah. I mean, six targets.
Always.
It's every week. It's just, well, but the targets for DK Metcalf, the targets are irrelevant. He caught a pass for four yards.
Hashtag Monday Punday every Sunday night. Instagram @FantasyFootballers.
Yeah, he was, he was that bad.
He caught one pass.
One pass, one of his six targets. Thankfully, the targets are going down to six because they've been like double digits. But I mean, he's on pace for 136 targets and 800 yards off of that.
Yes, yes. Thank you for your puns. Let's jump in.
Bank on it smartly. Presented by US Bank.
All right, bank on it. Don't bank on it. Three players, three big performances. What do we think? Tyler Algier, 11 for 147 and one on the ground. The Cardinals were down 17-3. The Cowboys defense gave up four consecutive touchdown drives to Gardner Minshue in the final six minutes and 47 seconds of the game. Improbable. The Cardinals even tried an onside kick, didn't get it, still won the game. Still won the game.
But Tyler Algier, he's the RB one on the week. He, you know, Jordan Love, or sorry, Jeremiah Love, unfortunately, came back. I was literally saying in the studio, I was like, oh, he's got a little burst to him now. Hip drop, high ankle sprain, same situation for him. Both ankles have been a problem all year. Tyler Algier then goes absolutely nuclear on a 63-yard touchdown run.
Don't forget the guy who had been better than Tyler Algier in Van Nuyck, he also left the game with a concussion. Yeah. Listening to Gardner Minshue at the press conference, he was talking about Tyler Algier. He's like, Tyler came in expecting to be the third back in this game, which it was, I mean, that's, that's weird. It is weird, first of all, that he would say that. Second of all, that like, it sucks. If you're Tyler Algier and you sign this contract to be the starter for the Cardinals, and then they spend the number, what was three pick on Jeremiah Love, you go, oh, okay. But now Love is injured and you're still expecting to be the backup.
And then bam, gets injured.
It was a big, big game against a bad, bad team. 58% rostered on sleeper. He was dropped in our league of record. I will go ahead and say that publicly. If you didn't notice, it happened on Sunday morning. Here's the problem.
Yeah.
They go to Seattle. Then they play the Rams.
Oh.
Both of those are two of the worst.
Well, hold on.
Possible matchups for running backs. Oh, then in Kansas City.
Yeah, that's a bad scenario.
And then Washington and Philly are not good running matchups either.
But Van Nuyck's a concussion. Van Nuyck will be back.
Yeah. Jeremiah Love probably won't for a while. I'm a, I'm a pretty solid don't bank on it because I think Tyler Algier, I don't know what the waiver wires look like. We haven't done our rankings yet. We'll do them today. We'll do the show tomorrow. Algier will be near the top if you need a starter.
It's a little complicated because I, you have to bank on that. He's going to be a waiver pickup. He should be a waiver pickup because you want starting running backs. You just, you want them on your roster. But with those matchups, that's a don't bank on it.
It's, yes. And it's not like Algier hasn't had plenty of opportunities. Jeremiah Love's been hurt all year long and Algier's done nothing. He had 40 total fantasy points for seven weeks combined. He had 33 and a half yesterday. Jason, are you also on the don't bank on it?
Yeah. I mean, you're going to bank on him being the starter and getting the work, but that is going to not go well with those matchups. He's not efficient enough. The Cardinals aren't a good enough offense to where you can say, oh, this is, this is going to work out really well for him. Now, I mean, sometimes guys get touchdowns in bad matchups and he might be okay. You know, there's been waiver pickups where we were like, I'm not sure this is going to work out. And then, hey, in a bad matchup, they come through. But no, you can't, you cannot bank on him having another performance like this.
He's the running back one on the week.
All right. Second candidate here for bank on it, Emmett Johnson, running back for the Chiefs.
Emmitt.
And when I say running back, I mean wide receiver because.
Was that Ashton Genti?
They really needed almost the same carries. They really needed weapons in the passing game. Here comes Emmett Johnson, five for 128 and one. Played 19% of the snaps, Ken Walker 81%. Walker's been kind of held in check for two straight weeks. Seattle Denver. Emmett Johnson, though, very explosive. You know, those were plays where, man, if Walker had been on the field for the wheel route or something, maybe it's a similar result. I don't know.
Yes, the touchdown.
Yeah. Where there was nobody on earth, but maybe they don't cover, maybe they cover him and they don't cover Emmett, you know? So.
Maybe.
What is your thought on the Emmett Johnson experience? Look at it in terms of would he be a committee type of player at any juncture for you in fantasy if Walker's healthy?
I don't think so. I don't think they're, he has shown great.
Yeah, he's like the.
Like if Walker went out, if Walker went out, he would be a league winner.
It's a whole full fab dump.
A league winner. And the fact that he is currently only rostered in 24% of leagues. This is a guy that we've been saying for weeks, like must roster. He is as valuable an insurance running back as there is in the entire league because he's shown that he is fully capable of succeeding. Obviously dominated this week in the receiving game. And he is good on the ground as well. He just doesn't need the opportunities. He got one carry this week because it was Ken Bone Walker. You know, and I don't think that this splits.
I don't think that they go to some 60-40 timeshare because Emmett looks good. I think they're just happy that they've got another weapon that they can use from time to time and a good backup should something happen to Kenneth Walker. Must be rostered. I don't think he's going to be a playable asset. The way that, like Blake Corum has turned into a weekly playable asset, that's just not going to happen here.
All right. So another don't bank on it. One last one. What in the world happened here? Adnai Mitchell.
Holy moly.
Finally healthy. Nine targets, seven for 142, a touchdown, 61% of snaps, 26 routes. So that's not a lot or relative to what he could have run. Omar Cooper Jr. wins no targets after two weeks of exploding.
More snaps, same exact amount of routes.
So Adnai Mitchell, who I liked coming into the year.
Yeah, you did.
We didn't think Omar Cooper would be a thing.
Neither did Adnai Mitchell.
Well, look, here's the real crazy part. Like the last three weeks, the best Jets wide receiver every week is not named Garrett Wilson.
I know.
And it's not like they didn't try to get the ball into Garrett Wilson's hands more often. I don't know how many red zone targets he had.
Yeah, Garrett Wilson wasn't bad. I mean, he was six for 83, but he certainly wasn't the best. Adnai dominated.
Yeah. And then the last two weeks, Cooper had the big plays. Like the downfield explosive plays that they are hitting on with Geno are going to Cooper and Adnai Mitchell this week.
It reminds me of the Browns. We've been talking about for the Browns for the last couple of weeks that every week they're going to have one good receiving option. Like, you know, is it a Denzel Boston week? Is it a Concepcion week? This week.
Is it an only fan ends week?
This week it was an only fan ends week. You know, the last couple of weeks has been Omar Cooper Jr. There was a week where it was Kenyon Sadiq. There were weeks where it was Garrett Wilson. Now this week it was Adnai Mitchell.
Mason Taylor.
Yeah.
So I think they can support where the Browns can support one. I think they can support one and a half.
Yeah, that's fair.
But right now, I mean, I'm a, this is the first time we've, I'm all three don't bank on it. I think Adnai, I mean, what are you going to do?
Yeah, it's tough. I don't think he is, I think he's their third best wide receiver. And that's not to say anything negative of him. It's just like, I believe what I saw from Omar Cooper was really, really good. They didn't go his way this game. They didn't need to. They scored a ton of points in this game and had great success. Obviously, Garrett Wilson is their best wide receiver, regardless of whether he's coming through for fantasy or not. And so it's really tough to say Adnai Mitchell and his best game of all time will just continue to have this kind of success.
Mike, are you in agreement?
Yeah, you can't bank on it. The flip-flopping. Maybe it's Adnai moving forward over Omar Cooper and he'll be, we'll pick him up.
All three of these guys will be a big conversation tomorrow.
Yeah.
I mean, they're all going to be on the waiver show with how much you want to invest, but I don't think any of us look at it as a guaranteed production situation for any of them. News and notes from around the league.
Oh, I almost, I mean, so much happened this week and I almost forgot what happened right before the weekend. By the way, the trade deadline is only a week away. November 10th, four Eastern, if you want to keep that in the back of your mind. Josh Jacobs.
Hooray.
He in Appleport said Jacobs is, quote, going to continue to play, but it's possible he gets a suspension at the end of the league's investigation into more claims of domestic violence against him.
We have three new accusations.
Great.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah. So we're just going to just report what other people talk about with Josh Jacobs, but I would say there's a reason they're also in Jonathan Taylor talks.
Yep.
Yep.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I guess he'll just keep playing until he's not allowed to play anymore.
Do you think you get suspended?
Yeah.
Dude.
Yeah.
I mean, the league's investigation, how long does that last? I have no idea if it's like another year, six months, a month, a week, a video, a report.
Yeah.
I mean, what here's, listen, what happens when there's two more?
That's.
What happens when there's three more?
Yeah.
You know, where there's.
Obviously.
Where there's smoke, there's often fire.
It's not the same thing, but it was like the beginning of the Deshaun Watson accusations was the same. It was like this where it was like we had one. You're like, oh, gross. What? And you're like, okay, well, the Texans will probably just shake this off and then a few more. And then all of a sudden you're up to whatever the 20 plus or so against Watson. So the fact that we have more now, multiple women accusing Josh Jacobs of domestic violence is just, this, this sucks.
RJ Harvey was placed on IR by the Broncos over the weekend. He had a knee injury in practice. So it was the Jonah Coleman show almost exclusively. JK Dobbins tried. Coleman did.
Yeah. I mean, we, we, we talked about it going into the week that Jonah Coleman is just the far superior running back to JK Dobbins.
Yes.
And at some point, they're going to have to make that shift. We hoped it would be this week and it was this week.
Yeah. The, the, it was not close.
I can't wait to hear him in the locker room trying to talk about why. The snaps, Jonah Coleman, 41 snaps to 13 for JK Dobbins. Now carries was pretty close.
They are also.
But routes was 17 to 2.
The rumors all week. I mean, we're going to, if you just refresh Twitter, you'll have seven more fake reports about Jonathan Taylor. Jonathan Taylor to the Broncos was one of the strongest rumors last night because some really sourced, highly trusted Broncos beat reporters who, you know, a lot of people trust their, who they're talking to said they're making as hard of a push for Jonathan Taylor as any team, which for the Broncos probably makes a ton of sense for, especially with Harvey's injury and then Dobbins, Dobbins would possibly be sent out in that move, but it would suck for Jonah Coleman because it would be a multi-year situation for Taylor, right?
He would be in Denver for a while.
It would absolutely. And right now, right now it looks like Jonah Coleman's that going to be that guy.
I know. I know, but if that trade happens, he is not that guy for years.
No, no, he's not.
For years.
Right now he feels like a bank on it before a potential Jonathan Taylor. Jonah Coleman feels like something.
Yeah, I would agree.
You know, I'm, I'm fine to roll with next week and the foreseeable future without Jonathan Taylor.
There was a report about John Jennings going back to the Vikings and that there was a trade in place for him.
Back to the 49ers.
Sorry, the 49ers. And then Jennings said, nah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I don't want to.
He was there. He did great.
I'm not happy here, but I'd be unhappy there too.
He did great things for the 49ers, as seen by the 49ers going, hey, that guy's out there and he was really good for us.
They slighted him.
But yeah, he, he was trying to get, he was trying to get an extension and get money from them and they did not pay him.
Yeah.
And so he's like, no, no, I'm not going.
He says, well, well, well.
Yeah. Wouldn't, wouldn't that be nice?
Until nobody pays you.
Somebody has regrets.
Yeah.
This was the big news on Sunday. It took a game that I don't think I look forward to a game, a matchup more than this week's Baltimore, Buffalo game. Let's go, Lamar and Josh Allen.
First thing I remember waking up to Sunday morning was just you texting our group chat basically, I'm so excited for the Bills-Ravens game.
Yeah. And then the bottom fell out because Lamar Jackson on play one of the game dislocated his thumb. It will require surgery. He's going to IR. He may not return this season. And then Tyler Huntley.
But it was okay because Tyler Huntley is.
Competent backup.
Yeah. We've gotten some numbers from Zayd.
And he's gone.
Hmm.
And what's the third guy?
Joe Fagano.
Yeah.
Yeah. You, you, yeah.
Yeah. They're in the market. They're in the market for a quarterback or their season is over.
Oh.
That's, you know, they're, they're fully up against it.
It's not just, this is what I mean.
And Zayd Flowers.
This is Zayd Flowers.
And Derek Henry.
And Henry becomes RB2.
Yes. This is devastating news for fantasy football.
Yeah.
They play Thursday, by the way. So if you can't fix your quarterback by Thursday.
They will not.
Jason.
No, they're not.
Can we get that moved?
They're not going to. Yeah. Can we push that back? Give them a couple more days. And it's against Jacksonville. We, we were having a conversation this weekend of asking who's the best team in the NFL right now? Like what, what team? Because there isn't a.
Every team has shown some hold.
There isn't a clear cut winner. The Bills look.
They're my, they're my pick, but I.
They look great, but their defense has been really, really bad. Obviously, the 49ers have been dominating most of the season, but they are really injured right now. Hopefully, some time off has helped them. The Vikings were undefeated, but then, you know, they've got a Kyler issue.
Chiefs were undefeated. They lost two in a row.
The Jags were maybe my pick. The Jacksonville Jaguars look good on offense, look good on defense. That's who they're playing Thursday. The Ravens get to go up against Jacksonville. They are not going to fix this quarterback problem in a couple of days here.
Cool.
Forget about it.
I don't know if I'm thrilled with my decision to try that one on. Yeah. Joe Fagano, undrafted free agent out of UConn. And eight and a half point line for Thursday already. Kyler Murray played through hamstring tightness.
Oh, sure he did.
It reminds me of the, the injury to JJ McCarthy last year.
Yeah. That's what the, that's what the Twitter sphere is talking about.
You know what it reminds me of? It reminds me of how when Kyler was coming back from his injury for the Arizona Cardinals and was fine at practice every day, and then they're like, he's, he's still dealing with this.
Yeah.
I think that, man, Kyler is.
Not good.
Not good. He is not good. Michael Wilson said he's playing with two broken ribs, and it didn't matter because he still caught a, what should have been a game-winning touchdown pass, but was dominant. Start of the week for Jason. Kendrick Born left early with a high ankle sprain for the Cardinals, who keep getting beat up because love is hurt and bam, night is hurt, but they won. The Cowboys still lost. And man, Jerry Jones is going to have a corner.
Oh, Cowboys. I am so sorry for.
Yeah. Equally as bad as the defense allowing that catch-up to, to Gardner Minshu. The Cowboys were not scoring points.
No, the.
Against the Cardinals.
Yeah. It was the end of that game was all Cardinals offense mixed with the Cowboys offense not being able to move the ball at all.
So weird. Hunter Henry, Mike.
Yeah.
Injured foot injury.
We were off to a great start.
Yeah. Left the game. He was a good spot start. And of course, Demario Douglas has a big old week.
Yeah.
Pop Douglas. Once I, the only week I didn't play him. Jake Ferguson left early with a low ankle sprain as well. Okay. We had some good players this weekend.
Yeah, we did.
This week's fantasy stud muffins.
Joe Burrow, who by the way, looked like for the second week in a row, garbage in the first half of this game. Three interceptions.
Yeah.
Incompetent offense.
You literally at one point towards the end of the first half were like, does his throwing motion look different? And it was probably just because every pass he was throwing was underthrown and just a terrible decision. It was wild how bad he was playing.
How about the five touchdowns and then one on the ground?
Yeah.
Six of them.
Yeah, it was pretty good.
If you ran into Joe Burrow.
I'm sorry.
Yeah.
Yeah. I mean, he was, what, what if you ran into a Joe Burrow, T Higgins stack, Mike?
Yeah, I did. Did you see T Higgins? I saw something.
Fatality.
Yes. I saw something really interesting yesterday. Well, a couple things. First of all, Joel Smith tweeted this, so I'll give a shout out to him. The targets for Chase and Higgins, do you know what they are?
I have no idea.
61 each. The receptions for Chase and Higgins, do you know what they are? 43 each.
Ooh.
The yards for Chase and Higgins.
It's more, T's got to have more.
492 for Chase, 726 for Higgins.
T Higgins is dominating.
Higgins current pace, 104 for 1763 and 10. That's been done six times in the history of the NFL.
It's, this is like.
Which means he's going to get hurt.
This is, I feel like the first year, not that I was by any means anti-T. Was very happy. Feel like this was the first year that I was not.
You've always been all on.
I didn't just like overly push T Higgins.
That's true. That's why you, you set him free.
Yeah.
You set him free, Mike.
Well, enjoy everyone.
Not everyone plays well with expectations.
In the last two games, Andy, in the last two games, T Higgins is on pace for 136 receptions for 2,575 yards and 25 touchdowns.
Here's a good game plan for if you want to be Cincinnati. Their defense reverted this weekend against the Titans. That was by far the best game I've seen from Cam Ward. He is, he is in the studs this week. 26 for 40 for 304 and two at a rushing touchdown. The spin move. That was the best game we've seen from Cam Ward. So impressive. Happy to see it. A little bit of hope there. Kirk Cousins, Josh Allen, Cam Ward, Patrick Mahomes, the top five.
Kirk Cousins has been great, man.
He has been, I mean, this was.
They squeaked out the win. This was a back and forth game with the Jets. The Raiders don't look great as a team, but Kirk Cousins has been awesome.
On pace for 4,500 yards and 40 touchdowns for Kirk Cousins and a very strong contender to be traded to Minnesota, but I don't know if they'll do it. I don't know if they're willing to do it.
I don't know if Kirk would want that. It's like the Jennings thing. Jennings didn't want to go back to the Niners because he, what, the Niners disrespected him.
Six and one would be what you want to do.
A potential playoff run.
Yeah, maybe.
But I'm just saying.
I don't know how his relationship is because they wouldn't pay him. They made him basically leave.
Well, it was.
You feel disrespected and slighted.
It was, that was after the Achilles tear.
Sure.
But another team supported you and paid you and yours didn't.
Yeah, but they were, the Vikings were correct. Kirk Cousins looked horrible for a few years.
Yeah.
Yeah. And then obviously, Gardner Minshu may be taken over for Arizona in like less than a half. He went 17 for 23 for 188 and three touchdowns, which was cool. Trevor Lawrence started the week, managed to be great with 14 pass attempts.
Impressive.
Running backs, Tyler Algier, Bash Al-Tutan, absolutely dominant. I mean, and this was a game where Crodd had a long touchdown. Jacksonville Indianapolis was not a fair fight.
No.
And then Tony Pollard, welcome back to the top. Pollard just murdering folks.
He looks so dominant every play right now.
Someone asked me if him dominating this week made me feel better about last week. The answer is unequivocally, yes, yes, yes.
Of course.
It made me feel infinitely better. Jameer Gibbs and Emmett Johnson rounding out the top five. Gibbs against Minnesota's defense, 23 for 153 and one.
Took him a while to get going, but.
Yeah, it took till the second half.
And then he got going.
Which is, that's why you need Jonathan Taylor.
Monster shout out.
To keep the ball.
To a monster.
Yeah.
Braylon Allen, 21 for 147 and one.
This one is fascinating.
And we just got a report.
Yeah.
Moments ago that Brees Hall will be back for next week against Kansas City.
He's ready to go and he is expected to start.
What, what do you do if you're the Chiefs?
I believe Brees had some vague tweeting.
Oh, he has.
I think he's a leader.
He's a Twitter's leader.
He's a leader in his Twitter account.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So there's a lot of, a lot of stuff going on near this trade deadline. A lot of rumors of whether Brees would be on the move because obviously with what Braylon Allen has been doing, if you're the Jets, you're paying a lot of money to Brees as the starter. You could get a lot of draft capital for him and it seems like you might not need him.
What's so crazy is that if all that Brees is doing with the social media dance is any indication, nothing will happen because he's done this 55 times over the course of his career and nothing happened. But yeah, Braylon is more than capable of being the dude. I mean, I believe he put a four game streak together here with more yards. Like, like Brees Hall's never done this.
And the, the issue is.
And he's humongous.
Braylon, he is, he is a monster. The issue is Braylon needs carries to do this. He is a, like he's not a lightning player like Brees Hall where it's.
He's a where you down.
Where, yeah, he like where after 15 carries and they're 13 of them are trash, but then two huge ones. It's, he's Marchant. He just beats the crap out of you and then eventually the defense can't stop him anymore. And so I don't know what, like what do you do if you're the Jets of, of.
Did, that's the player that if you want this Braylon Allen, you have to feed him.
Yeah. I mean, if you got Brees so you're paying who's the starter and the more.
I mean, I'd trade Brees if I were them. I just don't think they're smart.
I, yeah, I mean, agreed completely all the way around. The right move for them would be to get capital out of the running back position by trading Brees. Now what.
The concern is that they're both just going to be awful.
Yeah. Braylon Allen, well, for fantasy.
Yes, what I mean.
Yeah. I mean, obviously the Jets would think that their running game would be better with both, right?
They, they might think that, but I.
Yeah. I don't know if it might be a good move.
But Braylon Allen got hurt in this game, right?
Yeah. Well, they, they didn't lose because of the offense.
Right.
I'm pretty sure Braylon Allen rolled his ankle.
Yeah.
And this is one of those.
He left for a little bit.
He left for a little bit, came back. I'm just saying, pay attention to it because we see that, we see that over and over where guys are able after an ankle roll to play.
Yeah. If you see Wednesday that Brees Hall is practicing and Braylon isn't.
Yeah.
And you roll your eyes into the back of the head, that's why. Can we talk about Bucky Irving?
No. No, we can't. Let's talk about Jalen Warren, who has been.
Sorry. I can't ignore 27 for 170 and not even playing the fourth quarter.
That.
The Falcons knew every play of this game that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would be running the football.
Yeah.
And gave up, listen to this, 324 rushing yards, the most in history for their team.
It was an unbelievably rainy game. This game, you know, we talk about rain doesn't really impact. This wasn't rain. This was, no one's.
This was sky water.
This was a crazy, you want to talk about, okay, these, these bad weather games given different, this was fun to me. This was like.
Oh, was it?
I kind of had fun because of how like.
Look at you.
Bucky Irving's.
Big sky.
Big sky. Bucky Irving's.
Because you had no skin in this game.
Yeah. His uniform at the end of this game was just dirt colored. It was mud. They were playing in the mud and everything in this game was a run play. The Falcons, I don't know why they didn't do this with Bijan as much on the other side, but Baker finished this game without completing a pass. They, the Buccaneers did not have one pass in this game. That was how bad the rain was. And that just, I don't know, it was kind of fun.
One completion. Yeah. They had three attempts.
Right.
Yeah.
They didn't have.
You said one pass. So I was just saying they didn't have one completion.
Oh, sure. Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Bucky, the last four games on pace for 2000 yards, 17 touchdowns. Bucky has been the running back three, two, and seven in three of the last four games. And I believe his snap count was 48% of the running back snaps yesterday.
Yeah, I mean.
Kenny Gainwell also.
Kenny Gainwell was awesome. I mean, genuinely the.
Volleyball.
The offensive line versus defensive line for the Buccaneers and the Falcons in that game was just a complete and utter butt whooping.
Jalen Warren, 17 for 143 in another dominant performance.
He's been unbelievable.
He, he has 6.9 yards per touch, is the highest of any running back over the last decade through the first eight games of the year. That is numero uno. That's crazy.
Yeah, I mean.
Which by the way, Kyle, is Blake Corum number two?
He's number two this year.
Yeah. Okay. This year. Gotcha.
The last six games for Jalen Warren, when he got the opportunity to like be the starter with the Rico injury, he'd be on pace for 1700 rushing yards plus 660 receiving yards.
And Rico's been back for three weeks.
Yeah.
Is that including those games?
Yeah, it is.
Yeah. I mean, so.
The last two weeks he's been an RB one.
Dog.
Oh, absolutely dog. Now he goes to the bye week.
T Higgins, Jamar Chase, Adnai Mitchell, Michael Wilson, Puka Nikuwa, your top five scorers at wide receiver. We've already talked at length about Higgins. Chase has been great. He had more targets. He had a touchdown. He had 141 yards. Higgins just had a second touchdown. Otherwise, these guys were basically the same game. Michael Wilson back to 15 targets. Gardner Minshu, transition. We'll see what that means for Cardinals offense, Tray McBride, tough matchups in Seattle next week. That'll be tough. That'll be really tough. That's a, Gardner's going to be up against it.
Yeah.
Puka.
Gardner, Gardner Minshu is so fun. He is.
I mean, he's exactly like Jacobi in the sense that these guys come, when they get a small stint of a couple games, Flacco.
Yeah.
They do great.
They do great.
Then they come back to earth.
There was a great tweet from Adam Rink, a friend of the show. He said, Gardner Minshu is like the McRib. He, he exists for just a limited amount of time, but while he's here, it's spectacular. I was like.
That's perfect.
That is really funny. And with his style, he's totally the McRib.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Them jorts and the mullet.
You had a big game for Matthew Golden on Thursday Night Football. Big game for Chimray DK, who stepped into the absence created by Carnell Tate, five for 71 and a touchdown. I think DK, for my money, is the single best like return man in the game. Demaria Douglas, three for 76 and one. Another touchdown for Jameson Williams, four for 70 against Minnesota.
Four weeks in a row. He's been, he's been on fire.
Blobfish doing work. And then Rashi Rice coming back from injury, seven for 53 and a touchdown. Technically two, if you like, I don't think that was a, I don't think that was a false start. I don't think it was. I've watched it like 10 times.
No, it.
I don't understand that call and that game would have been over.
Yeah.
So for those that always say the Chiefs get the calls, they didn't on that one. They got the game taken.
It was, yeah, possibly, you know, whatever. Refs call it how they see it and it.
Game taken by another stupid walker up the middle carry. What are we doing? Stop it. How many times does that have to fail? I don't know why it fails for him though.
It's just not.
It's not for them.
Yeah.
Yeah. Well, they, yeah, they, they do, their tricky stuff works better. Like figure out something to the outside, figure out a way to, well, they, they have such fast players, man. I don't know.
Do you think Rashi Rice is like, this is sticky?
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
Bank on it.
Yeah. He's the, he's their number one wide receiver. They're.
Sticky enough.
No one else on the team has stepped up.
Yeah.
Maybe a trade happens and then that derails Rashi Rice, but I don't think that's what's going to happen.
DJ Moore, seven targets, four for 82 and a touchdown. Also had a fumble. 87% route share in his return. That is the highest single game route share from any Buffalo Bills player. JJ tweeting that. You love to see it. And he left with a knee injury at the end, but said he was fine after the game. DJ Moore gets hurt all the time.
Seemingly.
That's the weirdest, unfortunate part of it. And then Jalen Waddle scored. So I guess we're putting him in the studs if he scores. But three for 39, not so good.
No.
Good for him. Let's take a quick break and we'll be right back with some tight end studs. Unstoppable Brock Bowers, number one on the week, 24.7. I think this is the first time ever that a tight end has started with like 70 plus yards receiving in his first, however many games he's played, seven. Harold Fannin was number two, Tray McBride at number three, Dalton Kincaid back in business.
Hey.
And Mike Gasicki at number five. Tucker Craft didn't even make the top five with his six for 53 and one on Thursday night. And Jason, your star of the week, TJ Hawkinson.
Nice.
If there's one player that loves Kyler Murray, it's TJ Hawkinson.
Yeah.
So big time weeks for them. The question for me is whether Fannin, who's had, he's had a handful of good games this year, but I like the fact that like you're now in a heating up situation, nine targets, 12 targets the past two weeks. Maybe unlocking Harold Fannin in this offense is a more permanent possibility.
He is, yeah, I mean, he is very, very talented. And the more that you get the ball in his hands, the better it works for their offense.
It was still 11 targets for Denzel Boston.
Yeah. I mean, he's, he's, he's throwing it around.
It was getting like Metcalf targets.
A very, very tough game for the Browns. The Pittsburgh Steelers defense looked really up for the task. I mean, the Browns only scored six points.
I think they had eight sacks.
Yeah. Oh, well, I mean, that's why you always, always, always play any DST against the Sean Watson. He does, he holds onto the ball and runs into sacks more than any player.
Yeah. All right. It wasn't all good.
Pooped in his big boy pants.
So in principle, playing a quarterback against Dallas was supposed to be good. In reality, it was for Gardner Minshu, three touchdowns.
We had so funny.
Unfortunately, the stream of the week was Jacobi to Brony Burset.
Last week when, when the streaming option of Jacobi Burset was, you know, it was like, don't tweet us after three quarters. It, it takes the whole.
Oh, you did say that.
Yeah. It takes the whole game. He did not get the whole game. And then the fourth quarter, obviously monstrous fantasy output for Gardner. The process was right, but.
You guys see the play of Caleb Downs getting dribbled?
Oh, it was so great.
Yes. Like a basketball.
That was not a good day for Caleb Downs, who also got punked by Tray McBride, who's yelling at him on the sideline.
Your first round pick.
Your first round pick.
What?
Oh man. Dog.
Matthew Stafford and Jared Goff had down weeks as well. Goff had that touchdown that was called back with Amon-Ra St. Brown, had one with to Jameson Williams. Not a good week on the ground for Javonte Williams. We thought against Arizona, it would be great. 24 for 56.
That's a lot of carries.
Yeah. So there you go.
It's Indianapolis next week. So if you can back to back have bad games against those two defenses, it'll be very impressive.
Bijan Robinson, 19 for 76. He did not do what Gainwell and Irving could do.
No. The trenches, man. I mean, you really saw the gap in these teams. Maybe you can.
They were actually trenches in this game, by the way.
Yeah.
With the rain.
You can make the argument that the skill position players of, of, you know, Drake Lund and Bijan, they are, they are better on the Falcons side than I think what the skill position players are of Puka and, and Bucky. But this game was a game of trenches. And the offensive and defensive lines for these two teams showed themselves to be superior on the Buccaneers side.
The first play of the game for Jonathan Taylor was a 19 yard run. He finished eight for 23. Mike is looking at the camera saying.
That's the, this is the guy we, we can't trade him.
Well, I, I don't understand this weird middle ground of failure where you don't play him as much and you also.
This is a disaster.
Keep him healthy. But I mean, they were incompetent on offense. Aaron Jones and Jordan Mason, awful against Detroit.
Yeah.
Five for 22, eight for 20.
Detroit's a tough one.
I know they're a good run on, but it's like opportunity wise, I think Mason had one big play as well and they couldn't move the ball. This is crazy. Let's have the conversation that Mike's been wanting to have. Ashton Genti was two for nine on the ground. Ashton Genti's.
I don't hate Ashton Genti.
Ashton Genti's rushing attempts by game, 23, 21, 19, 15, 10, 10, eight, and now two. This story of the, the Ashton Genti story has to be the fact that Mike Washington had 25 carries.
Yeah.
And, and I don't want to dismiss that Genti's been hurt in a lot of ways and maybe that's a focal point of this decision. But what were you saying, Jay?
It's 60-40 snap percentages for Mike Washington.
Mike Washington's going to be a big like pickup start guy? 25 opportunities.
Certainly a big pickup. I don't know if you can throw him in the starting line.
Unfortunately, the schedule for the Raiders is now, is this accurate? We got San Francisco, Seattle, Denver.
That's what, that's what I've been pointing to.
The scheduling fantasy football gods have not been very nice.
Yeah. I mean, if you get two carries as a superstar guy that you're supposed to.
Oh, you ain't a superstar. As a, what was it? Rex Ryan?
Oh, Rex Ryan has got to be living life right now.
He's been putting everybody on blast. He was, he put, he had a tirade against the Cowboys last night. He's just been, he's just out there being mean to people, having fun.
He is. And he's the, he is the only person I know that's more orange than you right now.
Yeah. My, my Richard Simmons Tan is doing work.
Oh, it really is.
And wider teeth.
Yes. He has wider teeth than everybody. Yeah. Those of you at home, Jason, your face looks fine. Your body's very.
It gets, it gets very.
Like you got into the pumpkin spirit.
Yeah. I, yeah. My palm has tan spots.
Your ridges spots. Yeah. It's good, man.
You know, I was out there just.
Tan in that part of your hand.
I don't want to do my fingertips.
Judkins went from great week to terrible week.
Junkins.
And then Omario and Hampton might.
Oh, man.
Be the worst.
The entire Chargers team is, I, I, the, the press conferences are basically like, why they, all they're doing now is saying.
Oh, they're so painful to watch.
Why is Mike McDaniel employed?
Oh, they're just saying it.
That's all they're saying. They're saying, why, why are you sticking with him? Why are you doing this? And I don't know that he is.
Carabao looks a hundred years older than when he started.
I don't know that he is solely the problem. I mean, you, you have to put the blame on everybody when you're this bad. You aren't bad. You are the worst. You aren't close to the worst, one of the worst. You're the worst.
I mean.
You're the worst offense out there in the entire National Football League, and it's not close. The, the stats between rookie year, Zach Wilson, and current, you know, beginning of this year, Justin Herbert are nearly identical.
There is, there is only one. Listen to this. Mike's bold prediction was that the year two running backs would fail, right?
The chosen ones.
The chosen ones. But so Genti, Trevion, Judkins, Hampton, Harvey, Scattabu.
Yeah.
The only, and look, I can throw Woody Marks, Kyle Menungai hurt. Tooton's the only one.
Menungai was dominating.
Tooton's the only one though that's doing anything right this moment.
Yeah, but Toot Anderson's living his best life because he didn't get to play.
Yeah.
I was like, I'm not on the bus list.
Oh my gosh. Wide receiver duds. How about zero? Zero, zero for the unfortunate.
Not, not his fault.
Zay Flowers. And Mike feels this in his bones.
You guys have.
Because his garden of flowers is dying in front of him.
Well, it's.
Unwatered by quarterback play.
This, the fact that you have Tyler Huntley now with, reported with turf toe. I mean, you have, unless someone else comes in, your, your Ravens are cooked. They're done. They're done for fantasy.
Jason got to, he spent a lot of time on the air last week talking about Jacobi Lane.
Yeah.
Who literally like the, like the picture in Back to the Future is fading.
Yeah.
Away right before your eyes.
And the whole argument was we haven't seen him with Lamar really yet. And now you won't.
How was he on that one play?
13, 13 yards.
Oh my gosh. Drake London, forget about it. It's, it's, it's the rain. Don't even, I'm not paying attention to anything with that team this week. Parker Washington though, two targets, one catch. Some people pointing out the fact that Parker has in the last four weeks, wide receiver 94, three, 36, 54. So Parker, I don't know. Like if we were talking a pre-draft tier decision, the Parker thing is tough because this is a team that is able to beat you with a lot of different players.
BTJ scored. Tooton was amazing. Crodd scored. Brenton Strange wide open. Oh, I'm going to kill his name. Berkishir, whatever his name is. Nate.
Borkenshire.
Yes. Let's go with that. The tight end. Huge play. Touchdown. Borkishir. Yeah. I was kind of close.
Yeah. I mean, the thing is, is, is you can, you can talk about it like that. There's a lot of other weapons to beat you. And so this can happen, which obviously just did. But I also, I'm not worried about Parker Washington and this performance having one for 16. We, we talked about it with Trevor Lawrence. He threw the ball 13 times. This game was Indianapolis Colts were not a serious organization in this week. It was 42 to 7. They, they just, you know, it's like that's not going to happen.
But they scored 42 points and they didn't need Parker Washington is my point.
Yeah, because.
And the whole, the whole year is the discussion of what tier do you put him in? It's not that he's not good. It's that on the year, seven games played, he's on pace for a thousand yards and 65 catches. So one game you can throw out, but 65 for a thousand is not wide receiver one at all. Not even close. That's not, so that's my question. That's what I'm asking. It's like you could throw one game out, but I mean, they did the exact same thing. I mean, in Cincinnati, he wasn't used.
So I don't know. He, they won 35 to 6 against New England. He wasn't used.
Yeah. I think if, if they're going to, if they're going to blow the tarnations off of somebody, you know, and, and run all over them, you could have these type of games. I just don't think that's going to be the absolute norm.
So what is the rest of the season for you? What wide receiver number?
Wide receiver 12.
I don't think he's close to that.
I still have them there. I mean, you have TT, the week prior was still 11 targets. The week prior was nine targets. You've had a couple of real close missed touchdowns. And I mean, it obviously, we'll, we'll find out going forward. They've got two matchups coming up against Tennessee. That scares me in, in the same type of an environment.
The best ones is we don't care about that stuff. We would never say that about Amon-Ra St. Brown and if the, if the Browns or the Lions blow somebody out.
Yeah.
We just don't have that kind of, I'm not saying he's not good. He's awesome. But that team has been annoying over the last few years. He's currently 19th in points per game. He's right with a bunch of guys that we feel weird about, like Jefferson, Garrett Wilson. So very good. Just, I hate to see games where they blow people out and he's not a part of it. That's all. And he probably hates it too. George Pickens, two for 48. What in the world? And, and the thing they can out. The first man out.
Did you see that, Jay?
Yes.
I mean, the kick went through the uprights and he was sprinting down the.
The video is cool because I didn't realize, and I think most people don't realize when they're watching this video of how quick George Pickens left field, that the video watching the game is like in the, like in the stadium of the Cowboys. And it's like as soon as it happens, they pan the camera over and there's Pickens already.
Would you rather have George Pickens or Parker Washington rest of the season?
Parker.
Parker easy. Because right now, George is, George is on pace for better numbers by a lot. It's just that the volatility feels somehow worse with him. Like he's on pace for 1100 yards and 83 receptions, whereas Parker's on pace for 64 and a thousand. They're back to back wide receiver 19 and 20 on the season. Both of those guys are weird, but I'm with you. I'd rather have Parker, but it, but Pickens is still putting them numbers is not, he's not happy. I mean, yeah, and he has the capacity to throw a fit.
Lamb is not in this list just barely. Like Lamb had what, seven receptions, but, but I think maybe 30 more yards. Like it was, it was just a note. It didn't make sense. The fact that the Cowboys didn't put up a bajillion points with their wide receivers against the Cardinals is, is truly disgusting.
You hear that sound?
Yeah.
That's Trey Tucker.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
It took an extra week for us to be disappointed by it. They scored a million points and won, and Trey Tucker had zero catches. So that sucks. Tyler Warren, Sam LaPorta, Kyle Pitts, the rain. By the way, Pitts I think had the highest like route share of the year, but it didn't matter.
So I had.
And Higby doing nothing.
Just if you want to experience the pain, ladies and gentlemen, because I know a lot of it happened out there in the listener league, our fantasy footballers listener league. Here's what my roster was, guys. Okay. Quarterback, Lamar Jackson.
Do you want to hear this? Okay.
That's not a lot of points. Running back one, Jeremiah Love.
Oh, injured. Two for two on injury.
I got a Trey Tucker in there.
Okay.
And I got a, I had Kendrick Bourne in there.
Oh, injured, injured, injured. Did you win?
No.
Oh, no.
I, and I'm on pace to score 56 points.
That's not a lot.
No.
No. By the way, are you worried about Tyler Warren? Tyler Warren.
Yeah.
Four for 18.
I am.
The plays, again, I brought this up last week. Great possession tight end, not an athletic freak. That team is circling the drain.
Yeah.
What is Warren rest of the year? Like tight end eight or something?
Yeah. Low end, low end tight end one.
Would you rather have Fanner to Warren rest of the season? Lock him in your life.
Oh.
Yeah.
That's a good question.
I don't know my answer.
I, I lean Fannon.
Okay.
Yeah. I'm going to go.
Did you mean to say Fannon?
I think I lean Warren.
All right.
I'd rather have the volume, even though it's not.
I think I'll take Fannon just because he can actually give you explosive games. By the way, we have one dude in here who has Lamar Jackson. He's sitting over there in the corner. His name's Al Borlin. If you want to.
Yeah. If we want to really tell the people.
So tell them about the trade you did.
Yeah. I, I traded, ooh, a couple of weeks ago. I helped the Owls team significantly. I traded him two stars. I traded him Lamar Jackson and Josh Jacobs. So as soon as the suspension was over and now you might, you might have nobody.
Well, look, here's what follow along at home. Despite no Drake London, basically, despite no Lamar Jackson at all, Al needs like, what did I say? Like 41 points between.
Yeah. 41 between JSN and DeAndre Swift.
So if you want to root for Al, that's what you do. If you want to root for.
If you want to root for me.
Al's maximum pain, it would be that they score like 35 because he would, he would like, he would, he would not be here tomorrow.
And I am very actively rooting against Owl.
Oh, is he the guy fighting for your median spot?
Yes.
Excellent. Tonight is entertaining. It should be a good game. Seattle, Chicago?
Yeah. I, I can't wait to find out.
I'm not sure Swift's going to do a lot on that. Seattle beats.
Yeah. I want to, I want to see if the Bears offense can show up against this defense in Seattle.
Also, for the record, I do not hold you responsible for the Lamar Jackson acquisition, but you knew what bed you were getting in with Joshua.
Yeah.
Didn't realize he was. You knew it was a risk.
I, I knew the original allegation was a risk.
I was not aware of, of the additional allegation.
You should have done your phone calls.
Done the homework.
I should have.
Should have called around.
I've got boots on the ground in Wisconsin. That's on me.
