Episode summary

Aaron Parnas reports on election night results in which, by his account, Democrats gained seats in both the House and the Senate. He describes races he calls surprising, including contests in Kentucky's 6th and Florida's 27th districts and an Iowa Senate seat that he says flipped.

He also relays comments from Democratic leaders and governors on accountability investigations and a legislative agenda covering groceries, Medicaid, and health care tax credits. Parnas notes that several states, including Alaska and Maine, are still counting ballots, so final margins may take days.

Listeners get his take on what the results could mean for the 2028 race.

An absolute bloodbath. An absolute bloodbath. A tsunami of epic proportions, reminiscent of 1974 post-Watergate. That is what people are saying tonight. Democrats have won the United States House of Representatives. Democrats have won the United States Senate. The President of the United States is saying that he's going to work with Democrats. Why? Because it was too big to rig.

An insane performance from Democrats, something larger than anyone could have ever imagined. And tonight, the country sent a clear message to this White House: not on our watch. I was live just now for more than 5 hours. We got hundreds of thousands of people watching in real time. Your support did this. If you can, subscribe to support this work. Like, comment, share. Get the word out. And let's talk about where things stand.

We're going to run through every election right now in an 8-minute recap. 8 to 10-minute recap. Donald Trump, just moments ago, says that he has spoken to Democratic leaders in the House of Representatives and in the United States Senate, saying he is, quote, "eager to do deals with them." He doesn't want to spend his last 2 years vetoing everything. That's what the President is saying. In the United States House of Representatives, Democrats are estimated to pick up 252 seats.

Republicans are estimated to pick up 183 seats. 253 to 183. A major, major victory for Democrats. Democrats will win the United States House of Representatives. Many of these races no one thought was even possible. No one thought it was possible that Democrats would flip Kentucky's 6th congressional district.

No one thought it was possible that Democrats would flip, would potentially come even close to flipping, close to flipping, a seat like Florida's 27th congressional district. And, well, they did. They did. And Democrats tonight in the House of Representatives are celebrating. What comes next is a question a lot of people have. But if you asked Congressman Robert Garcia, he has a clear note: lawyer up.

A clear message to Donald Trump, a clear message to those around the Trump family: lawyer up. The United States Senate, also pretty good for Democrats. Democrats have won the United States Senate. Flipping states like South Carolina. Flipping states like Georgia—sorry, North Carolina. Flipping states like Texas. Flipping states like Kansas, Ohio. And by the morning they will flip, they will flip Iowa.

They will flip—or not flip, they will retain Michigan. And I would go as far as predicting they will likely flip Maine. That is how significant it is right now. Iowa, actually, as we are speaking, as I am giving you the updates in real time, Iowa has now flipped. Josh Turic has defeated Ashley Hinson. A monumental victory for Democrats in Iowa. Donald Trump's response: "I wasn't on the ballot.

If I was, we would have won in a landslide. Thank you for your attention to this matter." That's where the President is at tonight. Now, the President says he's going to accept the results of this election. He says that he wants to work with Democrats in both the House of Representatives and the United States Senate. The question is, will he even get that chance? Is this something Democrats even want to work with him on?

I would surmise the answer is potentially none. Now, there are many things—and I spoke with Democratic leaders tonight, from Governor Mikey Scheryl to Congressman Ro Khanna, Senator Cory Booker, Senator Mark Kelly, and all of them have told me, all of them have told me that they want—that their goal is twofold. On one end, accountability. And we saw Congressman Robert Garcia talk about accountability right there, saying, "Lawyer up."

The investigations have to go into the President himself, have to go into the President's family. Earlier tonight, I spoke with California Governor Gavin Newsom, who made clear that going after the Trump kids must be top priority right now. Okay? That's on one end. On the other end, veto legislation is what the Trump administration is going to do, is what the President wants to do. He said he wants to be Mr. Veto. But part of that—part of Mr. Veto means Democrats have to pass legislation.

And we spoke with many members of Congress and many individuals tonight, all of whom have made clear that passing legislation is at the top of the agenda. Is at the top of the agenda. Passing things like stock trading bans. Passing things like reducing the cost of groceries in America. Extending Medicaid coverage. Extending Medicaid coverage. Getting tax credits back. The Affordable Care Act tax credits.

What we are seeing tonight, though, is a complete repudiation of everything this White House stands for. Literally everything. This was not just a blue wave. This was a blue tsunami. And it's a blue tsunami that is so large that will have reverberating impacts on 2028, on 2030, and so much more. Now, election night is continuing. Votes are still being counted.

We're not going to have the Alaska results. We won't know the Democratic majority margin for several days. It'll take a while for Alaska to come in. It'll take a while for Maine to officially come in. We won't know that for a little while. We won't know the full House races as well, because it'll take a little while in places like California, where ballots take a little longer to be counted. But make no mistake, what happened tonight was a complete and utter repudiation of everything that this President—that this White House stands for.

And, well, it's only about to get worse for him. But here's the thing: the real work begins now. The real work begins now. Making sure that across the country, the Americans—the Americans who voted for this change—get it. Get it. And heading into 2028, dare I say the 2028 election season begins tomorrow, there is going to be a lot of conversations about what the future of the party holds.

And I'm going to have conversations with all of those leaders tomorrow morning. Josh Shapiro. Governor Wes Moore. We're going to be talking to potential 2028 hopefuls beginning tomorrow. So to all those who joined us tonight, thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. Make sure to like, comment, share. And if you can, subscribe to support this work. It really means a lot.
