I was about to tell you the power play and penalty kill stats, and the stats they had on the screen were the wrong ones. Matthew Nies would kill more penalties if he wasn't in the box so often, but he can't kill any penalties tonight because he's not in the lineup. Sens have it in their own zone. Maybe it's Gabriel Landeskog coming off LTIR. In fact, let's have a look at that situation. Now, I've seen the comparison made between Landeskog trying to make an NHL comeback and Jonathan Taves trying to make an NHL comeback, and they are completely different. He might do both of those things again this year. It seems impossible that that player might be underrated, but he might be underrated. But there's a reason they call him Moose. That being said, Natchis is a pretty good player, pretty good value. Dekjou is a decent player, and he might have more to give. Might be decent value. A second and a fourth can always get you some pretty decent guys at the trade deadline. It might even be able to get you two. If this is the thing that allows you to bring Gabriel Landeskog back into the fold, who knows? Maybe you are better. By the time you get Landeskog back, maybe you are better. But if you're the Colorado Avalanche, you can't just think about this year. Here's what you're looking at. You go into these playoffs, you have no guarantee anything goes your way. You might go all the way to Stanley Cup final and you might win the thing. You might. What are the odds? Western Conference final? You might. What are the odds? This isn't a criticism of the Colorado Avalanche because I think they're an incredible team. I think they're a really, really, really good team. But most teams, even the ones that load up, end up bowing out in the first or second round.

Imagine Colorado loses in the first round this year, or maybe even the second round, and they lose Miko Rantanen for nothing. You got to keep in mind, this isn't just guessing. Once the Avalanche determined they weren't able to extend Miko Rantanen, they decided to capitalize on his minimal trade protection to avoid losing him for nothing. When the Bruins were rocking it and really good two years ago and winning 65 games, Taylor Hall had 20 points and 61 points in a pretty healthy '81 game season. But this guy coming back and being successful for the time that we need him is going to be great. Dennis Hildeby, I think at 22 or 23 years old, is a guy that can have success in the NHL.

There's a player I talked about in the Aliphar yesterday where I remember watching him early in his career, and we talked about him on the podcast, and I was like, I don't know why this team keeps trotting this guy out. Harry Satari. I was like, this kid is not very good, and he continued to not be very good, and showed some signs, but man, he goes to another team. He's still not very good. And then one year, he just has this, Oh, I figured it out, moment, and he cruises to great numbers for a few years. A contending team trades a king's ransom for him, and he wins a Stanley Cup, and then he hits a blip in his career, and this year, he's doing okay again. It's Dorsey Kemper. I remember when I first saw him, I'm like, This dude is... I don't think so, man. I don't think so at all. Charlie Lingeren is another guy who probably played games too early in his career with the Montreal Canadiens when they needed him. And I was like, I don't get it with this guy at all. Last year, he's incredible. This year, he's still pretty good.

No, it wasn't that great. But I think everybody realizes it's time for Matt Murray to give it a shot. Wall needs the time off just because he's never played this much. So you need some steady tandem now that Stoler has been out for so long, and it's still a couple of weeks away from coming back, and Hildeby isn't that player just yet. He's not there in his development, and having him here getting shelled by Columbus doesn't really make sense anymore. They try and downplay that he's not missing any steps in his development at the NHL level, but it's more useful to have a guy who's a veteran in Matt Murray who can do this. If this is the level of player we're getting at F Hildeby, Matt Murray can't be worse. Matt Murray can't be worse, so you might as well have the veteran who knows the NHL, who's been through it, go through this with the team, as opposed to the young kid who doesn't know about that side of the game.

There's an opportunity to get Wul a big old bunch of rest after playing more games than he's ever played.
