Oh, wow, it's you. Hello, friend. Steve Dangle here, and welcome to another edition of Oh, Wow on the SDPN YouTube channel, where we take a look at the best from around the OHL over the past week. Why not start this week's episode with Highway Robbery, Zachary Jovanovski of the Guelf Storm. Check this out.
Firebird jump on it again. Now, Thibodeau. Left wing to Reid. Reid is in with Aspinal. Aspinal for Reid in front to Thibodeau. Shot. Oh, baby. What But aced up. So they'll gain the zone here. It was Reid, Aspinal, Reid back to Thibodeau. Thibodeau throws it on net, and that was so-Why is this playing?
Oh, wow. It's a goal. It's a nice goal. What do you mean it wasn't a goal? Zachary Jovanovski of the Guelves Storm, waits and waits and waits. Holds out his glove, waits an eternity, then waits another five minutes after that, then makes the unbelievable save. He played 16 games with the Air Sentinels earlier this season of the GOJHL, but now he's in the O. This is the thing he is already doing with the Guelves Storm, Zachary Jovanovski. Oh, wow. For our next highlight, you ever do all the work on a group project, but everyone gets the same mark and it's okay because you're all on the same team? Get a load of the moves from Tanner Lamb of the Kitchener Rangers, finished off by Chris Grisolia.
Dealing with Cameron Mercer. That pass didn't have much on it, and the Rangers are off to the race is a 2-1-2 developing.
That's Lamb. He'll cut. Lamb will drive. Lamb, and he gets goal.
The rebound. It's Chris Grisolia and Kitchener back out in front, 2-1.
The Rancher's veteran with an easy tapping for his seventh goal of the year. Coming off a pretty move attempt from his linemate, Taylor Lamb. Look at this, back in through his legs and unable to execute to the full extent.
Oh, wow. What did I even just see? Taylor Lamb, Chris Cresolia, going in two on two. Lamb with the ridiculous move cutting through the middle. Lamb throws it between his legs. Lamb, it doesn't go in. Until it does, because what's better than friends? Taylor Lamb, the 17-year-old heading into his NHL draft here. I think that play might make it onto his highlight reel. And Chris Cresolia, the grizzled OHL vet on pace for his best season in the OHL. This whole play. Oh, wow. For our next highlight on Oh, Wow, this video series has not been around for very long, but nick Lardis is already making his return as a repeat highlight player. All right, nick, what do you got for us this time?
He was right there. Here's a give and go. Stonehouse. Stonehouse bounces off an attempted check. Got it back here. He was looking to connect. Now a partial breakaway coming in. Lardis fake shoots. He scores What a beauty. Nick Lardis with some filthy Milt Smiths right there, and it's two, nothing. Branford Bulldogs.
He's just all alone. What a play to knock it free. And then that is like a road hockey move Oh, wow.
Where do you even go with that? I mean, besides the back of the net. Nick Lardis of the Branford Bulldogs. Holy cow. Around the world, this way, that way. What do you even do if you're the goal tender? Besides 10, the goal, which they're doing, but it doesn't always work. Chicago Blackhawks fans, you should be pretty excited for nick Lardis, a 2023 third rounder. In 39 games this season, he's already got 34 goals. That was his 34th, by the way, and that's a career high, and so are his 28 assists. This dude's got 62 points in 39 games. Oh, and a little extra spice, he's also a former Peterborough Pete, the team he scored on in this clip. Nick Lardis, the kid has been practically automatic this season. Welcome back to Oh, Wow. You know what? The goalies have taken it on the chin these last couple of clips. Let's get back to saves. Carter George of the Owen Sound Attack. What's this? Oh, wow.
Passed. Breakaway, Montgomery. Montgomery coming in. Stopped by Carter George. Oh, what a save. Carter George, are you kidding me? He stops Blake Montgomery on the breakaway. Spread, Eagle. But then the rebound comes out, and he absolutely robs him.
Carter George, not just of the Owen Sound attack, but also of Team Canada. This is so ridiculous. It's a glove save. Look at his legs. Kevin Weekes, now a current NHL analyst, but he also used to be in the NHL for quite a long time. He used to have a saying that, I have no five hole. On this play, Carter George literally has no five hole. He's doing the splits, and I don't mean the splits like the way you and I do it when we slip on ice by then hurt ourselves and need new pants, which reminds me to go get new pants. This dude, well, I guess you're shooting high then because there is no low to shoot at. And so you lift the thing up only to get robbed. Carter George, LA King's prospect, by the way. Oh, wow. For our next Oh, Wow clip, let me tell you a little bit about Ajax, Ontario's Jeremy Martin. First of all, the kid was born in 2007. That is the same year that I started making YouTube videos. In fact, he was born February 2007, which is the same month I made my YouTube account.
Somehow, the 17-year-old already has a full OHL season under his belt, plus this one. He can pull off moves like this.
Forward to Petrie. Petrie, along to Flugans. Now it's Jeremy Martin. Martin gains the zone. Martin going to the net. Martin puts a move on and scores.
Jeremy Martin. What a feed, what a finish.
So Martin runs it down along the right wing, just charging to the net. Goes right around Daniel Sportzow. Martin on the back end of the forehand. He tucks it home in his first shift.
Oh, wow. This is practically Jeremy Martin featuring the Flint Firebird. You don't even need other players on the ice. It's fine. Do it yourself. What do you want to have? A two-on-one? Two-on-one sounds good. You have a pretty good chance to score with a two-on-one. This is a one-on-two that's every bit as lethal, if not more. You're going to go around the D, you're going to go around the goalie. I'm surprised it didn't go around the entire building before sniping this thing. Jeremy Martin, that is a beauty. Oh, wow. For a next Oh, wow, there are the plays that you mean to do. Then there's this where you obviously didn't quite mean to do it exactly like this, but it worked out anyway. Defender, Braden, Turly and goalie Mike McKyver of the North Bay Battalion combine to somehow keep this puck out of the net.
Here's Miedema driving. Looks. What a stop. The puck is on the goal line.
The goal tender has lost his glove. Yeah, if you need to watch this a second time before you commit to saying, Oh, wow, then you'll be just like me because I didn't understand what I saw either. There's chaos in the North Bay crease, and everyone is going for the same buck, including like McKyver, the goalie. Braden Turley gets there first with his stick and in one fell swoop, knocks off McIver's glove, the righty, but makes up for it by flicking the puck out of harm's way. You know the saying, they don't ask how, they ask how many? It's a It's a little different for Braden Turley. The 18-year-old Milton, Ontario native, this is his third OHL season. He doesn't have a goal yet, but that's because he's too busy trying to keep the puck out of the net. So really, he's just reinforcing his brand. The Stay at Home stalwart stops this somehow. What a play. Oh, wow, Braden Turley. A little shout out to Mike McKyver as well. Why not? We are now down to our final highlight for this week's Oh, Wow video. I do a whole lead up, and I tell you about the player, I tell you everything.
You know what? I'm going to let this play speak for itself. Jet Luchenko, take it away.
Sing, working up top. Luchenko, room to walk in. Luchenko on the dojo.
Oh my heavens, what a goal Goal. Get that man, Abar and Dove. Those hands are dirty. Luchenko with a beauty. It is 3-1.
Oh, wow. And you know what? I think we need to watch it again just to appreciate the play buy-play call by the Guelft Storm's Ryan Drury. This is fantastic stuff.
Sing, working up top. Luchenko, room to walk in. Luchenko on the dojo.
Oh my heavens, what a goal. Get that man, Abar Duff, those hands are dirty. Luchenko with a beauty. It is 3-1.
Get that man, Abar Duff, those hands are dirty. New favorite call from the OHL for at minimum this season, maybe ever. Jet Luchenko, Philadelphia Flyers prospect, 13th overall pick, and actually played four games for the Flyers this year. That is despicable diabolical disgusting. Luchenko has been having a very solid season for the Guelft Storm since returning from the NHL. Yeah, I think he's good. I think he's pretty good. That is just… I mean, why waste time describing it? Oh, screw it. Producer Drew, show it one more time.
Sing. Working up top. Luchenko, room to walk in. Luchenko on the dojo.
Oh my heavens, what a goal. Get that man a bar of dove. Those hands are dirty. Luchenko with a beauty. It is three Jet Luchenko of the Guelff Storm.
And Ryan Drury for the call. Oh, wow. That was a ridiculous edition of Oh, wow. Let us know how we did. Let us know what you would like to see in next week's edition of Oh, wow.
