I'd be like, Yep, all right. I'm in. I'm in.
I'll join.
Tell me about it. You guys need to add this to your... Audible?
Are you listening? Are you listening, Audible? Listen up. We have an idea. But today Today, other than talking about how sick, nasty Audible is, we're going to discuss the title Desperate Deadly Widows.
It's actually the sequel to Rich Young Widows, so definitely go listen to that first. It's another wonderful Audible exclusive. But today we're focusing on the sequel Desperate Deadly Widows. I loved this title. This was made for me, I think. It was. It was so good. It was so fun. I loved it. It was a lot of fun. I was a big fan. And it was written actually by four authors. Kimberly Bell, Lane Fargo, Kate Hallahan, and Vanessa Lily, and each of them wrote for a different character.
This blew my mind.
Isn't that cool? I did not know that. Isn't that amazing? That is very cool. And then now that I'm thinking about it, you could actually pick up on it. They're so distinct, the characters.
But it's interesting, though, because the tone of the whole book overall is very uniform and cohesive.
Uniform and cohesive. Yeah. That's the thing, because I can't I can't imagine writing with three other people.
I have no idea how these women did this and did it so well. Bravo. Honestly. It sounds like it's such a task to undertake because you all have to be on the same page.
You all have to be open to feedback, to joh-shing together. It needs to come out cohesive. It was written in one- I wonder if they lock themselves in a room or a house for a few months. And then wrote together. Yeah, they... First of all, they wrote this, I think they said in 12 weeks, right? That, my brain does not wrap around that fact. And now I'm kicking myself being like, write, bitch.
Write a book in 12 weeks. Because I'm like, what are you doing? I know.
Well, instead of locking themselves in a house, they had Zoom meetings.
So they would all write their character.
Kim wrote Camille, Lane wrote Meredith, Kate wrote Justine, and Vanessa wrote Crystal. And then obviously, As you're listening, there's pieces where Camille will say something in Meredith's voice.
So they would give each other feedback and be like, Oh, my character would say it this way or that way. So they had to lock themselves in these Zoom meetings. I think they said they had hours long Zoom meetings, and they just got everything perfect and in the right voices. I love that. That's the ultimate collaboration. It really is. And they nailed it.
That's the thing. This could have gone wayward.
Oh, yeah. Group project. This could have gone into a different galaxy. 100 %. And we would be like, whoa, ladies. But I'm like, whoa, ladies. This is so good.
It's a good, sick, nasty music. I wish you guys could see her face.
She went from this angry scow, like, whoa, ladies, to all of a sudden like, whoa, ladies.
Like, so excited.
And that's how I describe this is, whoa, ladies. Two thumbs up. Four thumbs up. Yeah. Yeah, there you go. And if you're listening or if you already have listened, you also know how incredible the voice actresses are.
And the voices are so perfect for each character. They're what you picture when you... It's just like it makes sense. Oh, 100 %.
I have their I have them imaged out in my mind completely.
Crystal is my favorite.
I'm obsessed with her. She's my favorite character, but also my favorite voice. The voice was amazing. She's so good. This Italian mobster woman. Just straight shooter. Yes. I love her. She is performed by Dina Perlman.
Carissa Vacker performs Camille, Ariel Blake performs Justine, and Helen Lazer performs Meredith.
So were you guys favorites of Crystal or did you have a different favorite?
I really liked Camille. I thought Camille was cool. I thought she was like... When I first started listening to her, I'm like, I don't think I like her character so much, but I just found her to be so warm as the book went on. And she was smart And she's unapologetic about who she was, the choices that she made. But she was also very kind. I feel like she grew a lot throughout the book because in the beginning, I was like, oh, Camille. Exactly.
Exactly. And toward the end, I was like, you get it. This experience made you flourish a little bit. Gross. That's how I felt. Crystal was just hilarious and awesome. I thought all of them were great in their own right. But it was Camille I was like, I love her because of her intense, flawed way about her.
You know what I mean? Like her flaws and how she like, overcome some of them and works through some of them and is unapologetic for some of them. I was like, I love that. Like, that's a character. Yes. And I love that she was like a ladies lady.
She was just power to her friends all the way through. And she could have been set up as something totally different. Very much so. A total other way, and she wasn't. Like, that was what was cool. And even the way that Justine and her were still friends after everything happened and worked their way through it. That's girls being girls right there. We love it.
And Justine had moments for me that were really... I was like, Hell, yeah, Justine. Because there's one in particular that stands out to me.
It's when they're talking, I think in the law firm, and she says that she stands up when Crystal is talking to her because she says, even if she's talking down to her, she's going to have to look at her.
Look up, yeah. And I was like, Hell, yeah, Justine. Literally as I was listening to that, I was like, Elaina is going to love that.
I loved it. It's just got bad bitch energy. Yeah, 100 %. Don't mess with me. That was a mic drop moment. 100 %. I loved it. I love a woman who just is not afraid to be herself. Yeah. And I feel like none of them are. This is just like such a little moment.
But when Crystal realizes that Christopher Columbus is such an asshole, that's just like such a funny moment for her.
And He's like, damn, he sucks. When she tries to use it as like, what?
That's a day. Yeah. Nadine's like, Try again.
I'm not going to try again on that one. Well, even as simple as her telling everybody that my son is a... Yeah. I don't know what language she used, but she's like, he's stupid. Yeah, he's stupid. He's an idiot.
And she loved him anyways, but she's like, he's stupid. She's just so real. She really is. And the other moment I was thinking of with Crystal, actually, is when Meredith and Crystal go to find Destiny, and they're going to go try to get information from her, and they find her at the strip club.
And Meredith chases her off stage to interrogate her, and the crowd is all pissed off.
And then Crystal gets on stage, and everyone starts calling her like, Oh, hey, Mae West. Why don't you? And she does a full-on routine. And I was like, Yes, girl. Just like, lawyer with a side job. Yes. She knew it was important. She saw the in here. She's like, You go do your thing I will entertain these people. I will distract. We all got to play a part here.
Exactly.
It was so good. There's so many moments like that, too, that I feel like maybe we haven't all had that specific moment with our friends.
You haven't? Maybe not that specific one. Not that one? But it's like, Let me cover for you.
I got this. I love that.
But that's what's really special about this friendship.
Apart from that little thing with Crystal and Justine, which they resolved. But I thought it was really nice that they all had each other's backs the entire time. They were all looking out for each other.
They were all worried about, Okay, I'm going, Meredith, even when she went to jail, she's like, We're not bringing anybody else in here. We're not roping any of these other girls in here. You could feel that they all had each other's backs the entire time. Yeah. Even if it was reluctant, they still would do it. Yes, exactly. Which is so real, too. Sometimes you're like, I love you so much, and I really I don't want to do this for you, but I will. You're like, What the fuck, man? Exactly. Why are you making this choice?
Okay, we'll discuss after I save your butt.
Yeah.
It's like the town, whose car are we taking?
Whose car are we taking? It's just, okay, whose car are we taking?
Exactly.
Tell me the details. I also feel like the story as a whole had almost...
Have you guys watched Desperate House Vibes? Yes. I still haven't finished it. I started it last year, and I'm in this weird break where I'm not watching anymore and I need to pick it up.
And this title made me want to start it again. Oh, Yeah, absolutely. Because I feel like it totally has that vibe. I never watched that, but I've seen bits and pieces of it, and it definitely has those vibes.
I watched it and watched it, and watched it, and watched it some more.
I watched way too much of that show. It's so good. And I feel like the dynamic between the lives in Desperate Housewives is very similar to the dynamic here.
That's interesting. I actually thought of Desperate Housewives as well when I was listening to this title, and I think that I felt even more of a I'm going to read an even more of a family feel with these women.
And that's one thing that drew me into the book even more. They really felt like they were family. Yeah. And they're just like, badass. Yeah. And that's the thing I love the most is just how capable they were, but also all flawed.
They are real women that you know, that you've known, that you've loved, that you hated. It's nice to see that they aren't portrayed as... They're like boss bitches, for sure. All of them. 100 %. But they're not the kind that are going to step on the backs of other women to get where they think they can go by doing that. 100 %. I don't like reading about the women who tell you with pride that, Oh, I don't even know my employees' names. Who gives a shit? You know what I mean? They're just like, that's the person I am. I don't like those. We don't fuck with that. Fuck those people. But I want to know these women more. Absolutely. I feel like they came out as so real And they have each other's backs. And I'm like, I want to hang out with you. Let's go out.
When those letters came out, I was tearing up for Meredith. Can you imagine having people in your life that would do this for you? That means that you are a fantastic human being. Yes, exactly. Even though this is a job that you're doing that I wouldn't necessarily have chosen for myself. It doesn't matter. You're unapologetic about it. Exactly. And you are doing it to the best of your abilities with the kindest of intentions. Yes, that's the thing.
And I love reading about that. I was like, yes, thank you for giving us those strong, powerful women. And they were all so different. So, so, so different. Different. And I feel like that's what makes up the friend group.
Because even in my friend group, I can point to who's the Meredith, who's the Camille, who's the this one. It makes sense. It translates into real life, too.
Yeah, this is like sex in the city all over. It really is.
For real life. Yeah.
And like a grittier sex in the city. Yes. A little bit.
The Rhode Island version. Yeah, the Rhode Island, the Providence, Rhode Island version.
I was going to say, make it Providence.
Well, that's the thing. It is gritty because obviously the entire story kicks off with the murder of- With the moida. The mayor of the town. It's pretty intense. And you can tell pretty quickly that our widows don't have anything to do with the actual murder itself. They're wrapped up in it, wrong place, wrong time.
Yeah, very much.
I feel like personally, and especially, obviously, you guys are listening to Morbid, me and Elaina, I feel like we're pretty good at predicting who a killer is.
Did you know?
No. I had no idea. That's what I was going to say. Usually, I do a good job of figuring it out, but I couldn't. They did a good job with the red herring because I'd be like, Oh, maybe it's this person. But then it would completely turn me around. At what point did you realize who the murderer was? And we won't spoil who it is.
Oh, we're not? No. Shit. I was about to. We won't spoil. At what point did I realize who it was? Probably during that kiss.
That makes sense.
During the kiss was when I realized what was happening. They were on my radar, the person who it was, but I was not. They were not the final in my mind.
Well, and what I like about it is it's very intricate. Technically, there's a couple killers.
It's a complex web. It is.
Like I said, the red herring's along the way, you start to point to one person and then you point to another. And it's like, everybody had their piece in it.
Yeah, it's true. 100 %.
One thing that can tip you off, though, if you want, because they did a really good job at planting little clues along the way that you don't know or don't think are going to come back. And then when they come back at the end, you're like, oh, shit. That's that person. Like the death threats, the notes that were coming to Mayor Tom. Yes. There's a specific thing in those death threats that comes back at the end. That someone are in all the notes and then somebody says it towards the end and you're like, wait a second.
And it literally comes down to one word. What did you call me?
That's right. It's And that's like, skilled writing. Oh, absolutely. That's skilled thriller mystery writing is to be able to carry that and have it hit the way that this one hit. You're like, Oh, shit. Because sometimes you're like, Wait, what? You heard that before? But they made it enough where you remembered it.
Yeah. And it was such a specific thing that you wouldn't hear it in everyday sentences.
Because when we got to the end and that whole little thing happened, I was like, Oh. I remember that. I remember that. It came back.
As far as themes, I feel like we obviously touched on the theme of we see these women come together.
They lift each other up. I feel like one of the themes, obviously, is sisterhood, even through conflict. Obviously, these women are bonded through tragedy if you listen to the first title. Anything else you guys thought of theme-wise?
I mean, one of the themes that was super important in this story is the fight around Indigenous rights. Yes, for sure. Yes, that's huge. It's really prevalent in this and in the real world, to be honest, to see people being so callous and cold about building over literal sacred land. And people are just offering up, in the title, people are just offering up dollar signs to try and buy this land up. And then they're getting upset or offended or pissed when the members of the community don't want to just take the deal to develop over their ancestors' bodies.
It's like, Yeah, money is not going to make me do that. Thanks, though. Absolutely.
Yeah, it's wild. Yeah, it's for asking.
Yeah, thanks so much. Wow, that was so nice of you. I think they touched upon it really well. I mean, the whole damn, and it's real, because the whole damn Providence Place Mall is built on sacred land. It's real. Which is nuts. And in real life. And one of the authors, Vanessa Lilley, is actually an Indigenous woman.
So she- Oh, I love that she wrote that in because of it.
She did such a good job with it, obviously.
She took the time. The conversation that Aiden and Camille had. Yes. Like, it was so real.
And it comes from a real place. Yes. In an informed place because she can speak on it. And she partnered with members of the community to make sure that all the information throughout the title was accurate and coming from a real accurate place, which is really cool. It makes it really different.
It's got a special touch on it.
It adds something to it.
And like you were saying with the Camille and Aiden conversation, I even feel like that's more of Camille's growth throughout the book.
That softness came out a lot in there. It really did. But the fact that she was able to pick up on it, I said to myself, that speaks mountains to her character that she was able to pick up on it, even though she was like, she came in guns blazing, who do I have to kill to get myself free? And he was soft towards her, and she was soft towards him. I thought that was really special. Yeah.
It's like they brought it out in each other. Yeah.
Yeah.
They're sweet. Another one of the themes that I thought was amazing was just watching these amazing women, these empowered women, stand up for themselves. Yes.
Yes. Big time.
Like, no, I'm not going to lay down because you all have money and you guys are throwing your money at this problem. These are solid values that we are going to stand by. We're not going to let you abuse these people. We're not going to let you abuse us just because you have more money than we do. We're not going to be your scapegoats.
Yeah, exactly. I loved that.
It was definitely like you're reading it and you're like, yeah, this is like a cautionary tale about society. Absolutely.
It is.
Sometimes rich people are just wild as fuck. Yeah.
But I love also that it all takes place in the '80s. I know. That's a fun part of this whole thing.
It's funny because there's little bits where you're like, oh, yeah, this is the '80s. We're in the '80s. But it doesn't feel dated. You know what I mean?
But I forgot that that was the case. When Camille goes up to the yacht, I was like, Why didn't she just pull out her phone?
You're like, What is she doing? Oh, that's why. She's lucky if she has a page Yeah, exactly.
Truly. But I swear I was thinking to myself like, these girls, they're smart, but damn, use a cell phone.
Where's your phone at?
They didn't have any quarters with them. No, they did not. They couldn't use a pay phone. The couple starts with the yacht. It got so intense. I was like, oh, we won't spoil that. But that's a key point in the story.
Wait until you get there.
What's going to happen?
Yeah.
Okay, so let's play a couple of little games because at Morbid, we love a game. We love a game. I feel like we should take the four characters and almost pretend like we're casting a film and cast each one. Love that. So let's start with Crystal. Do you want me to start or do you want to start Elaina?
You can start. Okay.
I feel like I see Crystal as Dreya DeMatteo, I is how you say it, because she gives me Adriana Lacerva vibes from the Sopranos. Oh, yeah. Like the curly hair. And I could even see her doing up the accent like she did in Soprano. I was like, Christopher.
I could see... Christopher. I could see Marissa Thomey. Oh, yeah. I just feel like she would be perfect to flip right in there. She would crush that.
I very much see that. I think I agree with that. Yeah, definitely.
I could definitely do that.
Okay, how about Meredith?
Meredith? I think... Actually, Mikey came up with this one, and I think it's... I was like, Yeah, that's it.
We checked.
Emmy Rossam.
Oh, from Shameless? From Shameless? Yeah.
Because she's got that scrappy.
Yeah, very gritty.
That hard-head. But she's this beautiful, just take no shit girl. I just love her. I thought she would be perfect.
I said Gillian Jacobs, and I was thinking of the same thing, scrappy. I don't know if you guys have watched Love. Her character, Mickey.
I haven't.
I feel like you would love it.
She was in community, too.
And community.
And she plays that badass girl who once you break down the wall does have that softer side.
I could very much see. I could see, yeah.
I see Jennifer Coolidge.
Oh my God.
I would love that.
That would be amazing.
She would be my Meredith.
That would be amazing. You do a good Jennifer Coolidge. Now I want to see this. This movie with Jennifer Cooling.
Yes. I'm down.
And it's a nice segue. I see Oh, gosh. Reese Witherspoon as Camille.
Oh, now I wish I thought of that.
That's a good one.
I agree with that even more than the pick that I made. I thought Anya Taylor-Joy.
And that was my pick, too. Anya Taylor-Joy.
Yeah, we agreed on that. But now I'm thinking Reese Witherspoon. Oh, gosh.
I would kill to see Reese Witherspoon in that.
I would love to see Anya Taylor-Joy, too. I think she's really good in the menu. And what was it Last Night in Soho?
Yeah, Last Night in Soho.
She's good in that slinky, I need to get the information I need, or get what I need out of this situation. She's really good at that role.
She's got that old Hollywood face and vibe about her.
And simplicity, but so beautiful.
But also, you were saying, has the vibe of we can get shit done. Oh, yeah. Absolutely. But yeah, Reese Witherspoon is also a good one. I'm tied now. And then what about Justine. What did you guys think for Justine?
I said Tessa Thompson. She's been in a few things. If you look her up, I could see her.
Yeah, she has false Fitch energy.
I think one of the things I knew her from, and I was like, Why do I know this movie? Why did I... It's from 2012 or something. What is it? It's murder on the 13th floor. I don't know if I've seen that. It's one of those... She's a nanny for a family, and she's having an affair with the father. The mom is like... The wife is this awful human and they don't even love each other.
Oh, great. I love that.
It's this whole thing. And there's like, a murder happening. It's got these vibes of a murder mystery to it. But she's really good, and she's really likable and has a bad bad ass edge to her, but it's like a softer bad ass edge to her. Like a really capable. She just reminds me of it.
I see that. I like that.
I could see her.
I said Zendeya for pretty much all the same reasons. Yes. I think of her character in euphoria. She goes through a lot of hard times in euphoria if you've watched it. But then you see her character softened toward the ends of the season. I feel like that's the same thing for Justine. Oh, yeah.
I could see that.
Mine is a little controversial. That's okay. Megan Markle.
Megan Markle. No, I like that actually.
That's an interesting one.
I mean, I just loved her in suits. I just feel like she had this hard edge, she had this soft edge, she got shit done. No, that's a good one.
Is she a lawyer in suits? I haven't watched these.
She's a paralegal.
So boom. She already has the experience.
Yeah, she had that grit to climb. But also she was just super soft at times, too. I feel like that's a key theme among all these four women.
They're well-rounded.
Yeah, they really are. All of them have that hard edge, but all of them have their moments of softness.
They're multifaceted like the diamonds.
I feel like that's just like all women.
That's womanhood. Exactly.
That's girlhood, baby. I love that. Okay, now How about a Most likely to?
Let's go.
So most likely to win survivor.
I got to go Crystal.
I got to go Crystal, too. She's so scrappy.
I would say Crystal.
Maybe Meredith, though.
Yeah. Maridith is going to be one of my... Because I feel like she could get it done.
She would make the alliances that she needed to make to get to- Kill it with kindness. Yeah. Then she'd get that final jury vote, I feel like.
Maybe. Yeah, she's got that will, strong will. She's like, yeah, I think that Meredith is.
And think about all the creeps that she's had to deal with.
She's had to think of ways around situations.
That's actually such a good point.
Whereas Crystal, when you heard the thoughts in her head, you could tell that there was a lot of insecurity there. Like, Oh, is what are you saying true?
A lot of doubt.
Yeah. There was a lot of self doubt. Whereas with Meredith, I never felt that there was that self doubt. She's like, Mm-mm. That's what I was thinking. Sit down, little man.
That's a really good point. Meredith was one of my first thoughts.
And the scrappy Venus of Crystal might piss off the other contest. It's true. They might just be like, see you. Yeah, that's a really good point. Yeah. All right. Most likely to be the maid of honor in your wedding. You had strong thoughts about this right off the bat.
Not Camille. You can't. Why not? I love Camille. We love her growth. But she's going to fuck your husband. There's always a possibility that she will sleep with your husband. The possibility is never zero. This is true, but it's never zero, even if she's not the maid of honor. That's the upsetting. But I'm not going to invite her all up in there.
Do you think that maybe it would deter her from being that person? No. I don't know.
I don't know. Camille strikes me as matrimony, you say. It's just, I don't know. So I think Crystal, maybe, because she seems like she's scrappy. She's going to get you. If shit goes awry during that day, she's going to be the one that goes up to your wedding planner and is like, Listen, bitch. My girl needs this right now, and you're going to go get it done. What about Meredith? That's true.
Who would like, Do it kindly.
I'd rather Crystal. All of us.
What? Honestly. I love the drama. I thought Crystal at first, too, for those very reasons. But now I'm thinking, what about Justine? Because she is calm, cool, and collected. Diplomatic. Diplomatic. Yeah, very diplomatic. She's I mean, she's the one rooting for Nancy, which is quite a choice. Yeah, it's true. But she looks at all sides of things, so she could give you the full picture.
But did she?
Sometimes. Well, yeah. Actually, you're like, well, oh.
And at the end, she had this moment where she's I'm going to really reassess how I approach people.
Yeah, so maybe not Justine. So who's final verdict? Meredith or Crystal?
I think Meredith. You think Meredith? She's going like, because Crystal is going to flip a table and get you done. Do you want that on your wedding day?
Yeah.
Let's go.
Again, if you guys can see the look on her face right now. She's like, Let's go.
Let's go. Let's go. Behind the scenes. That's the thing. I want it behind. I want her flipping tables to get stuff done for me and then walking out and being like, Hello.
There is a way, Crystal. One thing that happens at your wedding that's absolutely insane. So if it's Crystal flipping a table, for me, that's very Teresa Giudice. So let's go. There you go. I got to go Crystal now. You got to go Crystal. But I see Meredith. There you go. Okay.
Wait, can I just ask a question?
Yeah.
Was Elaina that for your wedding?
Was that like, I'll flip the table. Flip the table crazy?
No. But during the bustling of my dress, people were arguing, and Elaina came in there and she said, Step aside, bitches. I got this. And one lady was like, No, I know how to do it. And she looked at her and that girl just backed her up. She pulled a crystal. She pulled a little bit of a crystal. And my bustle was perfect. It worked.
Because I was like, I'll do it.
She was like, I watched a tutorial on how to do it. The lady showed me. I got it. I got this.
I got this, bitch. And they let me do it.
I was fully confident that she would flip a table if need be. I would have.
She is like a Crystal.
Yeah. Oh, Oléna is a Crystal. Actually, real quick moment. Who would you be? You'd Who would you be, Crystal? Who'd you be, Sheena? Who do you think you are? Who do you think you are? Who do you think you are?
I don't know.
Really?
Who do you think I am?
I think you have elements of Meredith. Because you get shit done. I do get shit done. Yeah. And you do it in a- You do them in a planned way.
I mean, I don't know if my family would agree with me.
You're like, But thank you.
I think they work. If you actually hold them, they'd be like, Mom, Mom does get it done.
Mom gets shit done, and she does it in a good way.
I am a Camille. I will not fuck your husband. I swear. Without that. But that good Southern girl, flirty energy.
Because we always say that you have a Southern Bell inside of you.
There's this old soulness to you that just rung out from Camille for me.
Yes, very true. I get that a lot.
All the nice parts.
Thank you. Not the not the fuck your husband parts.
Not the fuck your husband parts.
I like that we all have a person. I love that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Most likely to cry at a rom-com. Camille.
Justine?
I was going to say Justine.
You think Justine?
Why?
She's going through a lot.
She's going through a lot.
She really- People are really mean to her.
She needs to let it out.
She's got a rough time at home.
Yeah. I was super impressed with the way that she handled everything that went down with her mother-in-law. Her mother-in-law was always so snarky, and she still was like, no, I want my son to have a relationship. She held it together. So maybe not. Maybe Camille. But I found Camille to be really smart about how she handled herself and things around her. She had a soft side to her.
She'd do it in the privacy of her own home, not in front of others. Yeah, agreed.
I could see that.
I'm glad you brought that up about Justine's mother-in-law, because I was like, I hate you. You're really mean. And go away. She was awful.
Yeah, it wasn't cool.
And then didn't Crystal... Wait, Crystal told her, right?
Yeah, she said, Listen here, lady. This is just not okay.
Stop being a dick.
That's friendship right there.
That's friendship.
After she was horrible.
But that's such... It's so, so much. I know. I could say whatever I want to you because we're besties.
Yeah, because you're my family, but not her.
She can talk to you. But I'll ride at dawn for you.
Okay, because it was the '80s, Who's going to be the biggest fan of the hairbands? I think Meredith.
I could see Meredith and Crystal.
Yeah. Top two right there. Because I think back when Meredith was working at the club, I feel like I could see her performing to the hairband song.
Oh, Oh my gosh.
She could pour some sugar on me.
100%. I think my vote is for Crystal. Really?
I see both.
I could see both of them being down for poison. In a sweatsuit. Yeah. I can absolutely see this. I love that. I love the hair everywhere, all the hairspray. The banks. The Hades feathered banks. I can see that. Yes.
All right. And last but not least, who does the best Madonna impression? Camille. Camille.
Camille.
Yeah. Easy.
Ultimate time right there. Camille.
Yes.
That was a lot of fun. I love talking about that with you guys.
That was really nice. I love... Anytime we can talk about things like this, like a book club, audio book club, any book club, I'm into it.
Can I send you guys another title? Please. Yes. So while I I was listening to this title, I saw that they had A Court of Thorns and Roses.
I've been dying to. That's been recommended to me a lot.
That book series is incredible. So listen to this title. They have it on Audible. It's amazing.
I feel like the fantasy element of that, too, on Audible would be really fun to listen to. Oh, yeah. I bet the voices are really good.
So I think that you guys should listen to it. I actually read the book, but I'm so curious to know how they are going to it with the voices, the voice actors. Oh, yeah. But I will probably go home and start that one tonight.
Hell, yeah. I love that. I would definitely listen to that.
Can we regroup in a couple of weeks and do this first?
Should we just do a straight-up book club?
I love that idea. I'm in. I'm always for a book club. Let's go. I'm in.
One, two, three, Book Club.
Book break.
I'm in. Do you have an audible recommendation over there, Bro-y?
I do, actually. I love, love, love, audible. I do, too.
A big Audible gal. I do, too. They're sick-nasty.
They're sick-nasty. I really mean it. I don't call just anything sick-nasty. It's true. She doesn't. No, she really doesn't. I really don't. So I started listening to Needful Things by Stephen King. And it's narrated by my guy, Stephen, as well.
I love when the title is narrated by the author.
It's so fun. It's just like, Stephen King does a great narration, too. Of Stephen King's writing. He has a really good... Yeah. Only he can do it the way that he needs to be done.
I mean, that checks. It's True.
I love that. I love that.
My recommendation is, murder your employer. I love that. It's a really good title.
Okay.
And one of the narrators is Neil Patrick-Harris. Oh, I love that. So there you go. Who wouldn't want to listen to that? Yeah.
I love that. His voice is like, butter.
Butter.
And hasn't everybody felt that way once or twice? Yeah. Who hasn't? You can also listen to The Butcher in the Ren audiobook. We can also do that.
Who's the one who narrated that one?
It It wasn't me.
It wasn't the author.
But they were great. But it was Joe and Sophie, my wonderful voice actors, did Jeremy and Ren.
They're really good.
And they're amazing. Love that. And Sophie is from New Orleans. You could tell. So she has that perfect little Louisiana accent in there. It's got that good little... Just a hint of it in there. They did a great job.
Certain words that comes out and I'm like, oh, we're in New Orleans.
Love that. But yeah, you can listen to that if you want. And the Butcher Game will be out on audiobook. So same actors. In September. And I guess you'll just have to wait and see about that. Amazing. But you can pre-order that one.
Where? Two.
On Audible. Do it. On Audible. On Audible. So do it now. It'll be sick, nasty if you do that.
It will be sick, nasty. You guys don't understand what a compliment this is. Because Elaina does not give out compliments like this. No.
But when she does, they're always in this form. They're always aggressive. She She'll say, You're so beautiful. I want to punch you in the face.
I violently compliment.
You're a violent complimenter. I am.
You have violently complimented me a couple of times, and I'm like, Oh.
I don't know if I should put up my arms in defense or say thank I want to give you a hug.
You look so pretty. I want to punch you in the face. And you're like, wow. Okay. Thanks. Don't. Mikey always says, I am a trigger warning. I need a shirt that says, I am a trigger warning.
Be careful.
