Conceive, believe, achieve. Shut the up.

00:00:04

You're listening to Believe You Me with Michael the Count Bisping No, my name is. And Anthony Lionheart Smith.

00:00:12

There we go. We're all in focus. Paul Felder, Michael Bisping, the Believe in Me podcast. Monday morning, we've got 3 big guests joining us later, Hanato Monemoye Cano. We got the legend, Cub Swanson.

00:00:24

We've got the veteran, Michael Johnson. Those 2 guys both got ridiculous knockouts. I feel kinda knocked out myself though, Paul.

00:00:33

I'm not

00:00:33

gonna lie. UFC Tampa, great night. We didn't finish till 2:30 in the morning. What time was your flight?

00:00:39

7. I was on I had same same time as you. So I was the same thing. I was rolling out, no sleep after the fights. Was obviously with you for a while chatting up random dudes from Jersey who were I apparently partied with years ago in Atlantic City.

00:00:54

Oh, yeah. I thought I thought

00:00:56

you guys were all best friends.

00:00:58

They were cool dudes, but it's funny. You know, we meet so many guys on the road over the years for fighting commentary. It sticks out more to them than it does us. As soon as I started talking to them and they showed me a picture though from me years ago for UFC Atlantic City, Kevin Lee and Edson Barbosa, and I had no beard and they were definitely I looked like I had been, partying all night. So, they they were not wrong about that.

00:01:21

But

00:01:22

Well, well it's cool. Thank god for those guys. Because by the time we go back to the hotel, the bar was closed.

00:01:28

And they had And the funny thing was me and you were both assuming the other 1 was getting drinks because I texted you. I was like, are there drinks downstairs? But then I looked back at how I wrote it, and it sounded like I was saying, do you wanna get drinks downstairs? And you were like, yes, please. And said, what you wanted?

00:01:45

I had already said, can you give me

00:01:46

a beer? So I'm looking at the text like, what what is going on? So we were both in the same page, but just,

00:01:53

Well, fortunately, those guys had had a couple of crazy beers. Fortunately, main made it at a couple of boxes of wine as well. So I

00:02:00

was Of

00:02:00

course he did.

00:02:01

I was just cruising the hotel lobby, grabbing a couple here, grabbing a wine there, speaking to your friends. By the way, it's great when you meet like, people that followed your career and fans for a long time. And because of that, I just wanna say a big special shout out to 1 Jordan Walker. We don't only do this, we're not a we're not a cameo type service, but he's been a fan of the show for a long time. It's his birthday.

00:02:25

He's 34 or 36 today. So Jordan Walker, your wife, loves you very, very much. He's been emailing me, telling me all about you, telling me what a great father he is and the sacrifices he makes for them. And she just really just wanted us to say happy birthday. So Jordan Walker, happy birthday, brother.

00:02:43

Still, don't be sending in your birthday requests everyone because we ain't gonna do them all. We've got a goddamn show to do. Now, I'll tell you what, Paul, I'm still deaf. Saturday night when we were coming to

00:02:54

Oh, yeah.

00:02:56

I walked in to do the 1st in ring interview in the cage, and I couldn't hear anything. I'm like, what's going on? I've got 1 eye on blind, you know, my neck's getting better. So don't worry about that everyone. But I've gotta whinge and come I've gotta complain about something.

00:03:11

My ears were so stuffed with wax. I couldn't hear a damn thing. So then tears of the makeup girl comes out, gives me a bunch of Q tips, earbuds. And obviously you don't stick that stuff in because it just forces the wax further in. But apparently,

00:03:26

apparently, I still I can't help it. I Yeah.

00:03:30

I'm I'm I'm I'm I'm sticking it in. I'm burying it right in there. I'm pulling it out on the amount of wax on the end of everyone. I'm like, holy cow. Holy shit.

00:03:38

What the hell? But I was deaf all night. So I'm still a little deaf right now, but what a night to fight it was.

00:03:45

It was it was it was it was 1 for the old guys, man. It was definitely 1 for the old guys. I mean, Cub Swanson had that absolute battle with Billy Cortello, and it was a good fight. No matter how that was gonna end, even if that was 3 rounds, that kept us on our toes the whole time. Cub kept landing right hands the whole time, and Billy was in that fight maybe starting to what we thought, starting to take over a little bit.

00:04:06

I thought maybe Cub was showing a bit of his age, and, man, then he pulls off that big knockout like that puts him out. Michael Johnson with 1 of the scarier, most devastating right in front of us knockouts that I've seen in a long time. And, obviously, Joaquin Buckley, man, just continuing that surge. He looked like he was never really worried about anything in that fight. And he talked like that in the lead up.

00:04:30

And sometimes I get

00:04:31

a little annoyed when guys are like that. I'm like,

00:04:32

man, you're fighting Colby covering. But he was right. He was prepared for everything. Even in the wrestling. Right?

00:04:38

I mean, he was able to stuff a lot of shots. Even when he got taken down, though, it never looked like he was in any real serious trouble. His cardio seemed on point. I know, not Cove. Excuse me.

00:04:47

I know Colby has said he was just getting warmed up, but that's that's just the kind of stuff Colby's gonna say after the fact. He looked like he did not have the right amount of time to properly prepare his gas tank for how he fights for that particular fight.

00:04:59

Yeah. I mean, he to to his credit, he took the final shot notice. I think he did better than what a lot of other opponents that covering sorry, Buckley's faced. He did better than all of them. He did get some takedowns.

00:05:12

It was stopped on a cut. However, Buckley was Buckley was phenomenal.

00:05:16

Man. Look at that.

00:05:17

Gotta give credit though to Colby Covington. Walks out, Hulk Hogan, real American. I was I was I was I was nerding out a little bit. You know? I'm not a big WWE guy, but, you know, seeing Hulk Hogan walk out with that music and stuff.

00:05:33

I remember in the eighties match on man Randy Savage and Hulk Hogan and the ultimate warrior and all those guys, all that bullshit. Suburban commando is walking out. Let's go.

00:05:44

Yeah. But, man, let's let's let's talk about how how rough Hulk Hogan is looking. He looked every bit. Oh, wow. I was 71 years old.

00:05:53

I didn't wanna say anything because, dude, I was when we heard that and we had to keep it a bit of a secret, I was pumped. I'm like, oh, Kobe walking out with that music with Hulk Hogan. And then I saw him. And I think the crowd saw him too because I was expecting in Florida of all places, USA, US, and it was I think everybody kinda just saw him and then realized, oh, wait. He took this fight on short notice.

00:06:15

Hulk looks like he took this fight on short notice.

00:06:18

Oh, god.

00:06:19

My energy just went down a little bit. Let's take a look.

00:06:22

I I'll tell you what. He doesn't look too bad, Paul.

00:06:25

No. No. You gotta remember he's 71. You're right, Michael. But you you just like you talked about in my mind in my mind is, you know, just

00:06:33

hot dog

00:06:34

and tanned up.

00:06:37

Bring up Hulk Hogan in his prime, please, Brian. Hey, listen. 71 years old, the master will get me done, brother. He's still out there. He's still entertaining people, brother.

00:06:47

I tell you what, I hope I'm I've still got the energy to be doing stuff like that when I'm 71 years old. I was just at the gym this morning, the local gym by my house. And there's, there's a lot of old people go there. And when I used to go there, because it's right by my house, it's the closest 1. I used to complain because there's old people with the oxygen tanks and stuff.

00:07:07

But as I've got a bit older, and I'm complaining myself all the time about my health, I look at it differently. I'm like, fair play to these people.

00:07:15

You're here. You're here.

00:07:16

You're on oxygen. Oh, man.

00:07:21

Oh, man. Yeah.

00:07:21

Now we're talking, brother. That's Thunder Lipsch.

00:07:25

Let's be honest, Michael. He looked old there. He actually doesn't look too bad considering that Hulk Hogan kinda looked old when he wasn't old.

00:07:34

Yeah. Yeah. No. But like the old big yeah. God, there it is.

00:07:38

Rips the shirt off. He's get Colby's getting ridiculed online, by the way, because his shirt was precut. Oh, it was cut badly.

00:07:46

It was like shredded.

00:07:48

You can see it. I mean, Lisa, I get it. Those venom tops, they're very stretchy. You don't you the last thing you wanna do if you call me Carrington is knock out with Hulk Hogan and be going, and you can't rip

00:08:00

the shirt.

00:08:01

You've lost the fight. Even if you win by flying spinning hook kick knockout. I'm gonna be like, yeah, but you remember when he couldn't rip the shirt? And I couldn't rip

00:08:09

the shirt. Or giving him the side eye going, what the hell? This is embarrassing, Carl. Blow it, man. Blow it, man.

00:08:14

Blow it.

00:08:16

Yeah. No. But I I was at the gym and there was a dude there with 1 leg jacked, you know, lifting weights and stuff under my fair play. You know what I mean?

00:08:24

Yeah.

00:08:25

These, you know, these are elderly people still getting out. They're still getting after it, still lifting weights and stuff. It's amazing. What wasn't amazing though was Buckley's, sorry, Colby's eye. You know, it was a bad cut, fair play.

00:08:39

I walked in to do the interview. The amount of blood on the canvas and it it was like jelly. It was that that really thick blood.

00:08:47

We noticed that during the broadcast, you pointed it out when he was in a scrambling position with Buckley. It it it looked like it was coagulating more than just you know, man, when you get cut, especially in your head, it, like, pours out. But that looked that was thick, almost jelly like.

00:09:03

It's a coagulator. That's a good word, Paul. You're right. That's what it was doing. Yeah.

00:09:07

Coagulating son of a bitch.

00:09:09

That was gross.

00:09:10

What's this? Hamilton's put something in the notes here.

00:09:13

No. It's just the name of it.

00:09:14

What this is.

00:09:15

No. It's just the name

00:09:16

of it. Oh, 0, okay. For the blood.

00:09:19

Well, thank you, Hamilton. I'm keeping

00:09:21

that off you too.

00:09:22

Yeah. Yeah. No. Listen, fair play to Buckley. That's 6 in a row now.

00:09:27

Biggest win by far, Colby Compson. Yeah. I think that's put him right up there. You know, he, he did this whole thing with the crowd as we saw, called out, Leon, Kamaru, and he was the favorite.

00:09:39

Bilal.

00:09:40

Oh, Bilal. And

00:09:41

the champ. Yeah. Which we know he's not getting right away, but I love that he went and threw all 3 out there, and he gave options. Now the crowd it was late. So a lot of the crowd was leaving, and he was getting pissed off at that.

00:09:51

But it was only because it was late. It had nothing to do with his performance. I can tell you that. But I do I mean, I I love that Kamaru Usman fight. Kamaru has been talking about getting back in there.

00:10:01

There was rumors of him potentially being the guy step in on short notice for Shavkat. So, hey, you you wanna get back to that title picture? If that's something that you, really wanna do, then apparently Usman walked out as soon as Colby lost. Yeah. But I like that 1.

00:10:19

I don't know why Usman walked out when Colby lost. Probably, as you just said, it's the end of the night. It's 2 o'clock in the morning. The arena's madness. You wanna beat the traffic because we were staying.

00:10:30

It was 500 yards from the arena just to get the car to the airport. So just to get the car to the hotel on commentary day, it took forever. And then we got there and I'd forgotten my shirt and tie.

00:10:43

Yeah, I remember.

00:10:43

The driver was gonna take me back and I'm sitting there in traffic and like 15 minutes have passed and we haven't moved at all. So in the end, I'm like, I'll go on foot. I can see it. It's there. So I jump out the car and I'm running down and UFC fans have a biz me biz me picture.

00:10:58

I'm like, guys, I'm gonna be on air in 20 minutes. I've got no shirts. I'm like, I'm sorry, we'll do a picture later. Grab my shirt, run back in the arena. I'm sweating buckets.

00:11:08

So that's why people left. Not because of Buckley, but he does seem to take stuff like that personally.

00:11:14

Yeah. He does. Yeah. He gets and you know what? It influences his fighting in a good way.

00:11:19

So, you know, we talk a lot about beef that maybe is unnecessary and things bothering you that are unnecessary. But for some reason and I know I I get bugged out by it too when guys seem to have this chip on his shoulder that I don't necessarily think is justified. But for in his case, if he continues to use it and then continue to fight like this and still make callouts and show up and perform, whatever you gotta do to get you into the right space to be able to perform at the highest level, then more power to you. So, you know, I'm not gonna let it bother me. I know in fighter meetings, he's short with us sometimes.

00:11:53

He doesn't have much to say. He is kind of, like, dismissive. Like, you already know what I should be getting. And and listen, it is what it is. If that's how you're gonna be, I'm just gonna be short with you and let you do your thing.

00:12:06

Say what you wanna say because it's working for you, and you're going out there, and you're you're beating the best guys. And now, I mean, wonder boy, yeah, maybe he was getting older, but you got that win. You got this big win over Colby Covington. Who else? Vicente, Lukey is on that list.

00:12:22

Yep, Lukey is on that. He's beating

00:12:24

some good dudes, man. And-

00:12:26

But it's the way that he's beating them.

00:12:28

I mean,

00:12:28

he's smashing them.

00:12:29

No disrespect to Leon Edwards or anyone else. I mean, all right, Kamara Usman knocked out Colby called with that beautiful right hand. But like when you look at Leon, you know, it was kind of, it wasn't the most exciting fight. I'm not being, I'm not talking crap about him. I'm bigging up Buckley saying how good he was.

00:12:45

I mean, he's powerful. The wrestling is good. The takedown defense was on point. All right, he ended up up on his back a couple of times. It's an MMA fight, you're fighting Colby.

00:12:54

That's what he does, you know? I thought he looked tremendous. Kamaru Usman, I think that'd be a phenomenal fight. Is an Usman booked though? Didn't I see that somewhere 311?

00:13:04

How much and if you know anything about that, I think I might have saw something for UFC 311 or 312 online somewhere, but maybe I'm wrong. Regardless, his room would be fantastic. I don't blame him for not calling out Ian Gary. Ian Gary just lost.

00:13:19

So Yeah. No.

00:13:20

I think that part

00:13:21

of it.

Betterhelp.com/believe to get 10% off your 1st month. Gotta give a shout out also, Manel Cobb. We'll talk about later. Jesus Christ. How fast?

00:14:57

How fast is Manel Cobb, man?

00:15:00

That that was by far the best I have ever seen him look. And he's had some devastating wins inside of that octagon, especially since he took quite a few fouls to the nuts. Right? He got kicked pretty bad to the balls 3 times to the point where Bruno Silva lost a whole point. And then even when he started his sequence, I was talking about it after the fact.

00:15:21

I'm like, even if that 1 had barely clipped his cup, it looked like it mostly got the body. And when you've been kicked in the balls 3 times in a fight, man, hey, ref's gonna let that 1 carry on, man. You you can't be getting just clipped a little bit and then start complaining. You better keep your hands up until that ref stops it. So Yeah.

00:15:40

It was gonna be worse than that even no matter what. He was gonna But

00:15:43

that's the guy though. That's the next guy for Pantosha. After that performance, remember Bruno Silva, he was on a 4, 5 win streak, 4 stoppages, 4 bonuses, looked ridiculous, very, very entertaining. Incredible knockout.

00:15:58

Bruno Silva looks so fast. So just more credit to how good Manel Kap looked because God damn, Bruno was throwing haymakers, man. He was fast. He was getting in there. He was definitely trying to find his way into that fight.

00:16:10

Showed his toughness, but nothing was stopping Minelle Cop that night. My god. He was just swagging on him, man. He's dribbling. He's sliding out of the way.

00:16:18

He's, like, popping down to his knees for a second, popping back up. He's doing like anime stuff.

00:16:23

It was like, Cody Garbrand versus Dominique Cruz.

00:16:27

Yeah. Just on point.

00:16:28

He's in the zone. He was limping him. He was taking the piss. He was doing phenomenal. Got a great finish.

00:16:34

He's talking to Dana White in between rounds, trying to get the, trying to get the title fight.

00:16:41

Dana's like, worry about this guy. I'll talk to you afterwards.

00:16:44

F Pantosha, who else did he say? F Izzy, I've seen Izzy's reaction. What do they do? He did the 50% what week,

00:16:53

you know? I don't know why. I mean,

00:16:54

he doesn't like Israel out of Sonya them too about a bit of beef, but I thought it was great. I would be very surprised if Manel Karp is not next for Pantosha.

00:17:05

Yeah. I think he earned it with that performance. And that was what? What wasn't Pantosha his first fight in the UFC in a in a pretty close fight? So it's been a long time since they faced each other.

00:17:17

I think it makes sense. Manil Copp obviously has had his ups and downs with fights falling out, fights weight miss, and he if he stays like this and looks the way that he did, this past Saturday, then I don't know, man. I think you can get it done.

00:17:34

Also on the card, I've got to mention this 1, Dustin Jacoby, flatlines, Vito, Petrino in round 3. Obviously, the game plan was to look for him to overextend himself, Vito Petrino, look for the openings and then counter, which he was trying to do the entirety of the fight. However, the clock is ticking,

00:17:55

you

00:17:55

know, because of the forward pressure of Petrino, If he went another couple of minutes to a decision, he would have lost that fight. However, stuck to the game plan, and he got it. Oh my God, right hand, boom, flat lined him unconscious, just beautiful.

00:18:13

Yeah. It was perfect. And I talked to, Mark Montoya afterwards, and he was saying that. He's like, man, I I know he usually starts to hear the boos and starts to really let the crowd influence him and and his game plan. He he didn't.

00:18:25

And that was apparently the game plan the whole time to just wait for the right shot. They knew that they could wear on him a little bit. He might start to slow down and maybe those hands would get a little low, get a little sloppy. And just as he did, Petrino looks like he's winding up, maybe getting ready to set and there's no wind no wind up, no telegraph at all from Jacoby. Just straight right right down the middle and just came right under that left hook that was already getting started from Petrino.

00:18:52

I mean, patience paid off.

00:18:55

Yeah, yeah, no, it really did. Beautiful work. Joel Alvarez destroyed Jikar Close. And I say that,

00:19:05

I

00:19:05

don't like to say that because Jikar Close, you might have heard about this on the broadcast ladies and gentlemen. His brother was murdered in August in a random attack. Just a random person stabbed him 20 times in the chest. The knife broke off in his chest and he ran and got another knife and continued stabbing him.

00:19:28

Yeah. I mean

00:19:29

And and apparently that hell.

00:19:31

Yeah. Apparently, that guy, remember, he said had stabbed somebody previously, and they released him after putting him on medication or something like that, and then he does that again too. So it's just it's it's 1 of those things where if they'd gotten him that first time and put him away for a little bit, that wouldn't have happened. So, you know, Jakar was talking about wanting to get a lawyer because the guy's pleading insanity and all this stuff. So you're right.

00:19:56

How do you possibly focus, especially facing somebody in the division like Joel Alvarez, who is a finisher every time he's in there? Every time he wins, he pretty much I think every time, right, has he finished all of his fights by Everyone. By submission or knockout, the guy is dangerous, he's tall.

00:20:12

22 wins, 22 stoppages, 5 knockouts, 17 submissions is ridiculous on the ground. Tremendous striking those knees that he hit him with the flying knee, rocked him with a shot that it was a flying knee. Then he goes to the guillotine and he's like, it's half guillotine, half right hand. Half him. You know?

00:20:31

Just beautiful. I'm telling you, you said it as well on broadcast.

00:20:36

He's 1 of my favorite fighters, that kid right there.

00:20:38

Well, a Spanish lightweight.

00:20:41

Yeah. Pair pair pair a

00:20:43

lot of the

00:20:43

same car.

00:20:44

Why

00:20:44

is this guy not fighting for the belt suit?

00:20:46

I dude, he needs to be fighting. Yeah. He should be I would like to see him get top 10 right right away. It's it he's clearly a step above most of these guys that are just outside of the top 10, top 15. He's exciting.

00:20:59

He brings it every single time. His only loss in the UFC is to Arman Sarukian. I mean

00:21:05

Well, you you let me down the garden path there. That was wrong information, Paul.

00:21:09

What?

00:21:10

Arman Sarukian, also Who else? Damir Ismagulov.

00:21:14

Oh, yeah. He was a tough loss.

00:21:15

I love Damir.

00:21:17

Yeah.

00:21:17

He is he is. He's very, very good. So, yeah, he lost 2 decisions. Other than that, the man's absolutely flying. Also, before we move on to other stuff, Sean Woodson knocked out Padilla.

00:21:28

Herringbone,

00:21:30

please. Bring him on. Sorry. I had a I had a comment about, it was I miss I I misconstrued something. I had a comment for Woodson that I thought was for Alvarez.

00:21:39

So I'm I'm Oh, no. But please make it.

00:21:41

Make it. We're talking about Woodson now.

00:21:43

Well, no. Because you were talking about the about the rankings, and I was looking at the back end of the rankings in those divisions, and it's so tough, to put these new guys who came off of big wins at UFC Tampa in the rankings over the guys who are there. So I was thinking for for, for Alvarez, I would just like to see him fight, you know, the the the 14, 15 guys. Same thing for for, Woodson. Yeah.

00:22:07

I just wanna see him fight Barbosa so bad.

00:22:10

Yeah. No. For sure. I mean, the the problem is, as you said, it's Barbosa, Danny, get Bryce Mitchell, Giga Chikadze, Lerone Murphy, Kelvin Carter. Yep.

00:22:20

That's 145. How about

00:22:23

Alvarez? Alvarez could be we got Jalen Turner at 14. You got Rafael Fazib at 11. You got, Benoit Santini at 12. I mean, these are all great fights for him.

00:22:35

Patty's in there.

00:22:36

Patty's in there. Moicano's in there. Now, Moicano deserves to be fighting higher. So let's let's take him out of that. But, yeah.

00:22:44

Let me see.

00:22:45

Grant Dawson at 15. I don't wanna see that fight. I wanna see Alvarez fight. Somebody's gonna strike with him. Let's be honest.

00:22:50

Yeah. But Grant Olsen on the ground might be in trouble with the jiu jitsu. Yeah. That's true. That was interesting.

00:22:55

Benoit Saint Denis in Heritage Day on. Did I see Benoit Saint Denis versus Paddy Pimblett somewhere?

00:23:02

No. I thought

00:23:03

Or is that just a rumor I saw online?

00:23:05

Let me let me take a look. I'll I'll I'll look that up. I did see, just to speaking of rumors, you asked earlier if Kamar Usman, had a fight. There is a very strong rumor. He's gonna be fighting at 312 against Jack Della Madeline.

00:23:17

Yes. That's the 1 I saw it this morning. Apparently, got no it was on social media to take it with a pinch of salt. Kamaru Usman, Jack Della Madeleine, Sydney, UFC 312. So

00:23:28

Makes sense as well. So I mean, I'm telling you, when you when you look at the rankings then for Buckley, depends on if he wants to sit and wait or if he wants to get out there quicker. But, I mean, Buckley is now gonna be where is he at?

00:23:42

Well, he's he's

00:23:43

He's 9.

00:23:45

6. Colby's 6. He's gonna take that spot.

00:23:48

Sean Brady is right above him. Sean doesn't have a fight yet. But so we're still waiting to see who Leon fights at number 1. Is that gonna be Sean? Is that gonna be Buckley even though he doesn't want it?

00:23:58

I mean, it makes sense. So somebody's gotta jump into spot against Leon Edwards, and he's freaking number 1. That's who you wanna be fighting, especially since Palal is gonna be booked against Shavkat. So they should all

00:24:10

be shot. I love that matchup. Leon Edwards, Joaquin Buckley, main event, UFC London, 2 great strikers. Buckley's super exciting. Leon is a guy that will play his kind of game.

00:24:23

He's not gonna look and take him down. Buckley's gonna stand there and swing for the absolute fences. So UFC London main event, Joaquin Buckley, American flying over to London. I think that's what the UK crowds like, you know what I mean? Yeah.

00:24:36

It's great when we lit the cards are littered with a lot of European talent. But they wanna see the guys that they see compete on TV in America. So Joaquin Buckley coming over, I think would would do very well. It's an end to end if I were Leon Edwards. And I think that makes all the sense in the world.

00:24:54

Yeah. Yeah. 1 1 monkey wrench. Can Joaquin Buckley win a fight without going to a pool party day of anymore? Like, it's just Well, he

00:25:03

ain't gonna go to a pool party in London. That's the That's right. Thing.

00:25:06

That's a

00:25:06

it's a huge huge advantage for Leon Edwards.

00:25:09

Did he go to a pool party It's not in, Tampa? What's that?

00:25:14

Yeah.

00:25:14

So it's not swim swimming weather in London usually, Mike?

00:25:17

We do have indoor swimming pools.

00:25:20

There you go.

00:25:20

I saw

00:25:21

a video of Joaquin Buckley day of, before the Colby fight at a at a pool party in Tampa as well.

00:25:26

Harrington, what's going on in the world? But give us an MMA news story, and we'll we'll get into some talk about drones because there's a lot of crazy shit going on with these drones, bro.

00:25:36

Yeah. I mean, you know, that that's probably the number 1 topic on everyone's mind this week. We talked a little bit about it last week, but the, yeah, the drones flying over New Jersey, nobody seems to know what it is, including the government, who says that they are not, our own military, but they are also not of foreign, origin. So Yeah. No clue exactly where these are coming from.

00:25:58

So and, Brian, I want your take because I'm sure you've got some information. For anybody that doesn't know, because we are an international podcast, we've got a big following in Uganda. Okay? There's drones popping up all over the place. 100 of them flying around.

00:26:17

Some of them bigger, some of them smaller. People are shooting at them. The government is denying that they know what they are. They're denying any knowledge whatsoever. Apparently these drones aren't giving off heat signals.

00:26:29

There's 100 of them in New York, in New Jersey, in Washington DC. There's been some in Arizona. They're all over the place. The governments are playing dumb. The Pentagon are giving out official statements saying, oh, yeah, these aren't ours.

00:26:40

We know nothing about it. I call, this is number 1 bullshit, brother. Brother, this is bullshit. Brian, I know you like to talk, go down the rabbit hole. Please, please, brother, give me your give me your opinion on this bullshit.

00:26:58

Well, some people have been saying that there's, speculated missing nuclear material that they are looking for in a very quiet manner. Now when the government says they're not ours, that's like a very tricky wording because they could easily just be a subcontractor like an aeronautics company. And the oh, well, they're not ours. But you

00:27:21

Yeah. They're not lying, but they're not Right. Giving it all.

00:27:24

Right. It's like a a half truth. But, there's no way that anything in the air over 50 feet isn't acknowledged by the government. Like, I can't go and fly my drone over 50 feet without the FAA shutting it off. So there's no way that the government does not know what these are.

00:27:42

It's just impossible.

00:27:44

Yes. And and I totally agree. The United States government, the biggest and most well funded military force in the entire world. You're telling me that there's drones flying all over America. They know nothing about it.

00:27:59

They're not alarmed. You know, it's all we don't know what it is. Stay calm, everybody. Bullshit. Bullshit.

00:28:07

I heard the same thing about the nuclear material that, hasn't been identified yet.

00:28:14

So Yeah. Apparently, they're trying to sniff it out. They have some kind of equipment.

00:28:18

I've even been texting some people that I know that are former military or still involved in military that are just, like, regular citizens now but still work for the government in that regards, I'm like, Hey, will you please just text me? Get out of the area if I need to get out of the area. I was like, You don't have to give me any information. You don't need to tell me anything at all. But will you please let me know, for some reason, if I should just drive out to the sticks outside of Pennsylvania and get a little farther away?

00:28:47

They're like, nothing to worry about right now, but absolutely, I'll let you know if you gotta get out of town.

00:28:52

Yeah. And that's the thing because if there was something to worry about and there was a lot of reports of like some kind of dirty bomb or some kind of handheld nuclear device that's been smuggled into the country and these drones are looking for it, and if they did say something, it might cause mass panic and hysteria and all the rest of it. So that might be 1 reason why they're saying nothing. But if people are figuring it out, you know, there's gonna be panic anyway. So you might as well say something.

00:29:18

Also, there's another theory that it's, you know, it's the, the far left democrats that try to stop the inauguration of Donald Trump. You must have seen this 1, Brian.

00:29:30

Well, that that kinda ties into the, the missing nuclear material thing in a in a more tinfoil Hattie way where it's like, well, if if the same people who lied about, COVID and vaccines and all this other shit for the past bunch of years are in charge of this, there's no telling what they would do to continue to get their way. And that's Yeah.

00:29:53

Because if we if we go full war if we get into a war, let's say it's blamed on somebody else and something were to happen, and we start into a major conflict and war, the the president doesn't get inaugurated, stays with the seating president. So

00:30:09

Is that is that how it works?

00:30:11

You know?

00:30:12

Yeah. If we're Technically, if he doesn't get inaugurated, Joe Biden would still be in power.

00:30:17

Yeah.

00:30:17

And then also congress and and everything would remain the same right now. Correct?

00:30:24

I'm not sure about the lower forms of government, like the congress house senate, all that other stuff, but I I know presidency would not move Yeah. If we went to war.

00:30:33

Well, Bryce Mitchell, as crazy as he is, maybe he was onto something because he knew about this weeks ago. He said, bother

00:30:40

staying its project like Bluebeam. He thinks it's the government, you know, trying to make it look like a fake alien invasion is what he would say it is.

00:30:47

No. I know.

00:30:48

Doesn't seem FAA approved lights don't necessarily strike me as extraterrestrial.

00:30:54

Hey. Maybe the drones are angels. You ever think about that?

00:30:57

That's another 1. Yeah. I mean, Bryce might say that too. Yeah.

00:31:00

I've seen some pictures of biblically accurate angels on the Internet over the last week.

00:31:04

Harrington, I do not. I do not appreciate your blasphemy, Harrington. Okay? You are you owe Bryce Mitchell an apology.

00:31:12

I did. Of course. I owe Bryce Mitchell apology for a lot, man. You're the man. Many, many apologies.

00:31:17

Yeah.

00:31:18

All right. Well, anyway, we know nothing about the drones. Here's my advice. Live your life. Go out, enjoy yourself.

00:31:25

Prepare for Christmas. Have you got your Christmas shopping done yet, Paul?

00:31:29

Me? None. Yeah. None. None.

00:31:31

Christine got a lot of it done for the family. Thank God. So the kid the kids have Santa and, of course, us. So, yeah, we're we're solid on that end. But as far as me getting gifts for her family members and such, December 24th sounds like a great day to get that done.

00:31:49

No. It always is. Brush your band at the last minute in the shopping malls. Yeah, none of our kids believe in Santa anymore. Fortunately, they're not morons.

00:31:57

They've all grown up and they're adults. But there's still a lot of festive cheer. Rebecca's family from Australia just showed up her brother and nieces and nephews and stuff. So we'll have a full house here. So it's gonna be a good 1.

00:32:09

And we're not on the road now for another few weeks.

00:32:11

Yeah. It's nice. Nice to have a little break again. I had a nice little break.

00:32:16

Yeah. I mean, I love it. I love I love what I do. Not complaining, but when you're on the road.

00:32:20

I like the money too.

00:32:22

I like the money. The money, baby. Never mind my health. Never mind the family. Never mind being a parent.

00:32:31

What's going on?

00:34:49

What's Habib been going on tonight to Miles Johnson about?

00:34:53

Yes. So Habib, you know, did a rare media, let's say, ended up on, Henry Cejudo and, Mighty Mouse's channel, was training with the both of them over the weekend. He said that he blames, Demetrius for a boobacar losing a fight, because he was playing

00:35:10

too much.

00:35:10

It's video games. Okay.

00:35:13

Yeah. Mega Man Mega Man x?

00:35:16

X. You play

00:35:17

too much, right?

00:35:17

Yes.

00:35:18

Play too much how many hours? Woah. Now? Oh, that is much. When I was a

00:35:22

kid, all day. All day.

00:35:25

Cards again. Wait. You play with Abu Bakr? Yes.

00:35:44

The best bit's coming.

00:35:47

Me, Brutokar.

00:35:49

We used to

00:35:49

be like this. Good people. Good good shoot. Good plane. But now but now I haven't seen a plane in a long time.

00:35:58

So

00:36:02

He broke his computer.

00:36:04

Brother, we break his Really? I know you you think we're joking, but I see you.

00:36:13

I love

00:36:14

I don't think you're joking. I don't think you're joking, Habib. I think he is the guy that if you're not training right,

00:36:19

smash. They

00:36:20

smash it.

00:36:21

First off, Habib, he he's a cool bastard. He's sitting there all nonchalant looking like a legit Bond villain. You know what I mean? He he looks like a bad guy there, like a Bond villain or something. Yes.

00:36:34

Yes. We smashed computer. Oh, fantastic. So a boobacal Namagamadoff. Is that who it is?

00:36:40

A boobacal? It's gotta be a boob the car, the mega made off. He's cousin.

00:36:45

Yeah. That's him.

00:36:47

So he loses the fight, blames on mighty mouse make, playing too many video games, and they go in and they smash the computer. Brilliant. I mean, God bless Khabib. That's brilliant. I love it.

00:36:59

That's how you stay a big head coach, man. You don't play games. Hey,

00:37:03

I tell you what, we had Bilal Mohammed on here, I don't know, a couple of years ago, and he was talking about training with Khabib. And just the crazy regimen that he puts them through. The work ethic, the pace, just the drilling. Doesn't want any excuses. You know, he doesn't wanna hear it.

00:37:23

Show up, work your ass off, cry later.

00:37:25

That's it. He he was telling me about a a session that he had had the full warm up, which is epic for those guys. Then they did all the sparring, all his sparring, just brutal sparring with these guys, all the takedowns, everything you'd imagine. And then he worked with Khabib in the cage. Bunch of rounds go by.

00:37:41

It's the final round, I think he was saying, and he was in a bad position. The bell rings and, you know, Bilal tries to relax or whatever. And Khabib's still there just beating him up. And he's like, I thought the round was over. He's like, the round's not over until you get out.

00:37:55

Yeah. No, exactly. This is the

00:37:56

end of the session. Oh my God.

00:37:59

But I love that, you know, Khabib, his thought process, he loses 1 fight. Video games. What the are you doing? Get this shit out of here. We're trying to be a man.

00:38:10

What are you, a child? Smashes the computer up. Were you a video gamer back in the day, Paul, obviously now?

00:38:18

I I have never been. The only game we even have here now is like 1 of those old school actual Nintendo's where the games are all programmed on it. So, I mean, I'll play, like, Mario Brothers and, we do have, an old Wii where we play Mario Kart with the actual steering wheels. But that's every now and then. I never really played.

00:38:36

I sucked. I sucked at video games. I didn't have the attention span for it. I wanted to go out and do

00:38:41

stuff twice. Our kids are pretty heavy into video games. Like Lucas is in the bedroom quite a lot. But I will say this, because he does well at school and he trains, he does his MMA and jujitsu and stuff, and he does his wrestling, doing very well. You know, and he comes in, he'll go on the computer.

00:38:58

But in these days, like back in the day, you'd sit there by yourself for hours and hours. He's talking to 20 friends at once online, and you we just hear him laughing and screeching his head off, and God knows what they're saying. You know, but he's

00:39:13

Trash is what they're doing. Talking

00:39:14

shit at the sugar. He's laughing his head off. He's holding court. Sometimes I walk in his bedroom and he's got his headphones on. He has no idea.

00:39:21

And I just like, I stand there for a bit and just listen. And I love that. I love to see him, like the energy and stuff. And he's having a great time. He's been very, very social.

00:39:29

So he's definitely a bit more, communal than what it used to be. Brian, you like a good video game. And, Hamilton, do you guys play video games? I don't these days. I need to find a good 1.

00:39:41

I'm I'm into gaming for sure.

00:39:43

I've been playing

00:39:44

What's the game you're into, Brian? Total War. That's, Is that the name?

00:39:49

Yeah. It's like a war simulator. It's like a RTS game. You move all your units around and you fight war.

00:39:56

Those are fun.

00:39:57

So so I've got the PS 5. And what I wanted was like an epic adventure game, you know, that I can sit down and just get into it. But all the games, I can't find a good 1. And they're such it's such a pain in the ass.

00:40:10

Have you ever done the God of War series?

00:40:13

Yeah. But the the games these days, you gotta push so many buttons and menus come down. You know what I mean? And you gotta scroll this, and then you've gotta go somewhere, and you've gotta buy this thing. Then you've gotta collect some coins.

00:40:26

Mike.

00:40:27

I'm like, bro, just give me a M16 and let me go shoot someone, will you? I don't want to go through training first, do push ups, you know what I mean? I'm gonna, and then I'm gonna design the outfit, you know what I mean? You know? Do I want a man, woman?

00:40:40

I gotta pick my pronouns. I'm like, dude, listen. Let me just shoot something for crying out loud.

00:40:48

I don't play any games you have to pronoun yourself.

00:40:50

Oh, no. No. No. No. You will soon.

00:40:55

You know, I like, I like vampire survivors. That's a very fun game. Yeah. It's super low tech. It looks like an NES game, kind of, but it runs on, like it takes a lot of processing power because you can do a lot of crazy stuff with weapons.

00:41:10

What's it called?

00:41:11

Vampire survivors.

00:41:13

Vampire survivors. Okay. Like,

00:41:15

you remember Gradius back in the day where it's like a bullet hell?

00:41:18

I do not.

00:41:19

We're moving around, and there's just a bunch of shit coming at you, and you have to shoot No. Just like

00:41:24

it's Yes.

00:41:26

No idea.

00:41:26

It's not an in-depth game for sure.

00:41:28

It's fun for him

00:41:29

if you give it a shot.

00:41:31

Okay. Okay. Alright. So, Hamilton, stay on, buddy.

00:41:34

K.

00:41:36

You should have

00:41:36

a lot of Sonya. Got a 5 booked.

00:41:39

Yes. Saudi Arabia versus Nazjian. Immelov also on the card. Rafael, Rafael Fazib versus Matej Gamrot and MVP versus Sharabhul.

00:41:48

See, that's the 1 that that that's the 1 that excites me the most. Don't get me wrong. Good to see the former champ bag, Nazar Dimemov, decent opponent. But the 1 that excites me, Sharabhulit, Michael Venom Page, Let's go.

00:42:01

That's a great match up, man. You wanna talk about crazy kickboxing happening. Both guys throw unorthodox things, and both guys not really gonna wrestle. I mean, I know we've said that before and then strikers will wrestle. But those 2, I really don't see that being their path to victory on either side.

00:42:21

Well, that's what we said with MVP and Ian Gary. And fair play to Ian Gary, it is MMA, you know. But give the people what they want, for crying out loud, you know? He did what he had to do to win the fight. But Shara Bulleit, Shara Bulleit ain't shooting no takedown.

00:42:36

He is not. He's gonna do the Shara move, the double back fist slap in your face, whatever it is. He's awesome. I love that guy.

00:42:44

He is awesome. Are you calling them?

00:42:47

Yeah. I'm not calling them. I will be there. I'm flying to Saudi.

00:42:51

There's

00:42:52

a power slap too?

00:42:53

There's power slap. I'm doing the desk, and then I'm jumping on a plane flying to Australia.

00:42:59

Oh, you're doing that's right. You're doing the alright. So I'm I'm work I'll call on Saudi fights. I'm calling Saudi fights. But I'm sure I'll be in attendance for the old power slap.

00:43:08

And then I can't leave. But when my flights are booked, I leave at 1 in the morning on Monday. Oh, you messed

00:43:16

up. I'm leaving 3:35. I mean, listen. Saudi Arabia is a beautiful place.

00:43:20

They didn't have any for me.

00:43:22

And the people are so polite and welcoming. It's a great place. It really is. But your boy needs a cheeky drink. You know what I'm saying?

00:43:33

It's not that I'm an alcoholic, but it's like a full week. You have your work, you wanna relax. There's a flight, 3:35 AM. After the fight, I'm on the first flight to Sydney via Dubai. Emirates business class.

00:43:47

Get me in that lodge, brother. Let's go.

00:43:49

A night

00:43:50

it's gonna be a nice flight.

00:43:51

It's gonna

00:43:52

be a nice flight from from Dubai on Emirates to Sydney. Yeah. You know, get plenty of drinks on that 1.

00:44:00

It's gonna be good. It's gonna be good. Obviously, do you know Piers Morgan? You're you're familiar with Piers Morgan, of course. Tom Aspinall, was on the Piers Morgan.

00:44:09

Oh, I just saw that. Yeah. Well, I saw I saw that he was on that. I didn't get to see much about it,

00:44:15

it, but I saw that. Yeah. No, but that's great. I mean, it just goes to show, you know, how big MMA is getting, you know, because, you know, Piers' show is big and he gets massive numbers as well. He was on there.

00:44:22

Obviously, we all know already. Dana White confirmed it Saturday night. And it's kind of been confirmed for a while now. Tom Osborne versus Jon Jones will go down, some point in 20 25. I'd say international fire week.

00:44:35

Yeah. What were the big takeaways? How much inform his appearance with Piers Morgan other than guaranteeing the fight? He said that Tom sorry, John is gonna get f you money. And Piers said, are you gonna get f you money?

00:44:48

And he said, no. He'll get paid handsomely. It'll surely be life changing money for where Tom and I and, you know, working class people are from. But he just wants to belt. Because once he gets the belt, then that's the pathway to making life changing money.

00:45:03

But

00:45:03

how do

00:45:04

you do?

00:45:04

I mean, the the my biggest takeaway from it, the the headline grabber, according to backdoor meetings with Dana White, Dana says this is gonna be the biggest fight in UFC history. So

00:45:15

I agree. Now now since Tom is the interim, but he's not the champion, I guess do you think they'll give him any cut of the pay per view for that?

00:45:23

100%. Because

00:45:25

that's that's big enough. Right? Even if his contract stays the same for his money, you want that fight with John because of that reason right there, that it could be the biggest fight in UFC history. And that alone will get you everything that you need to go with it. And then, obviously, if you beat John, the sky is the limit from there.

00:45:42

I mean, you just then you're making crazy pay per view money.

00:45:47

Yeah. Yeah. No. No. Of course.

00:45:48

And I would assume that once you become the interim champ, you automatically get the standard cut of the pay per view points. Obviously the biggest, the biggest pay per view they've ever done is Khabib versus Connor. What was that? Something like 2,600,000, something like that. Now, of course, Conor McGregor, once in a generation time type of star.

00:46:09

We had Khabib on the other side, undefeated and all the rest of it. Obviously, a huge Muslim following, Russian following. Then we had Connor throw in the dolly at the bus. So all that promotional material. Were you there?

00:46:24

Dude, I was on the other bus watching him running around with his guys, throwing it. I was like, what is going on? Because we're in the we're in the tunnel at, where were we? Getting ready to

00:46:37

Barclays Center.

00:46:38

Barclays Center. And I'm supposed to be fighting Ally Quinta that weekend. And that was the weekend that Connor threw the dolly through the bus. People got glass on their faces.

00:46:48

I did Ally Quinta and the fine Habib.

00:46:51

Yeah. But if you remember, if you go way back, I was the only 1 that weekend who happened to weigh a £155. Al weighed a £156, and I was making I was in talks with the UFC to try to get that fight with Khabib. So for hours for hours, I thought, holy shit. I went from fighting Nalaya Quinta as like the first fight of the pay per view to potentially be fighting Khabib for the lightweight belt.

00:47:18

And I'm trying my absolute best. I got my management on it. We're like, come on. I made the weight. The commission takes me out of it saying I'm not ranked high enough.

00:47:31

I was so The bastards. So then they take I acquinted from me. So now I don't even have an opponent. I went from maybe fighting for the lightweight belt to having no opponent because that dolly going through that window. But but thank God.

00:47:47

Love the UFC. They paid me everything.

00:47:50

Of course. Of course. I can't believe we've never spoke about this. I'm glad it came up organically like that. Yeah.

00:47:56

Yeah. Dude, dude, there's a lot to unpack here. So you almost fought Khabib on extremely short notice, but

00:48:02

And Khabib said, it makes sense. And he said, listen, I'll let him I'll I'll let him fight me. That makes sense. He made weight. He made weight.

00:48:09

He was all about it.

00:48:10

But you weren't worthy is what you're thinking of.

00:48:12

According to the New York Athletic Commission, I was not worthy, and people online were giving them such crap. It's like, who are you? Even Rogan was giving them crap. Who are you to say that this guy was supposed to be fighting on the main card who's, you know, been on the the cusp of being in the top 10 for a while, you're gonna tell me that I'm not I'm not ranked high enough because Al was a few spots above me, he was okay? Or was it because Al is a New York guy, and you wanted your New York guy to be taken on that?

00:48:39

All I'm hearing is that the UFC was trying to protect Khabib.

00:48:43

Oh, go on, Brian. The the Brian

00:48:45

has him. Yeah. I know. Always got

00:48:47

the back of the cohost. Well done. But, but they would sanction Jake Paul versus Mike Tyson.

00:48:53

Come on, man.

00:48:54

You know. You

00:48:56

know. Oh, no. Paul Felder must be protected from Khabib. But will do Felder Sorry, Jake Paul, Mike Tyson. We've talked about that

00:49:03

a lot.

00:49:04

We won't get into it. Right. So you came this close. Either way, if LA Quinta was 156, how did he end up finding Khabib?

00:49:12

They did something where they were like, Oh, he has to go If he would've taken off his underwear and weighed in with nothing they pulled some shady shenanigans there.

00:49:24

Whatever. They made it happen.

00:49:26

Bullshit, to be honest. But ultimately, I ended up having a really good night Saturday because I had quite a good bit of money in my pocket and didn't have to take 1 punch to do it. Had to I made weight. I had already made weight when all of that happened. So

00:49:42

Hold on. Right. Right. So we were talking about Connor and Habib being the biggest pay per view. And Brian, just looking up, I think it was like 2,600,000, which is crazy.

00:49:51

Talk me through that. You're on the bus, you're at the Barclays Center, and all of a sudden Connor McGregor and all of his buddies show up out of their minds and it's just all hell breaks loose.

00:50:02

Oh, dude. It was crazy. I was like

00:50:05

because he's I saw

00:50:05

him banging on the window. He's doing and I'm like, who's it? I was like, that's we're like, that's Connor. That's Connor doing that. What the hell is going on?

00:50:13

And then I saw him pick up the and we were like, no, dude. Like, oh, 0 my god. And then we heard the smash through the window, and I think we were there to do, like, a presser. I I I figured exactly what went on, but we were out of our we're trying to get off the bus. They were like, you can't you know, you know how security is.

00:50:30

It's just keeping everybody on there. I didn't know. At first, we didn't know what was going on. Maybe it was, like, random people causing shit doing, like, terrorist type shit. And, then, no.

00:50:43

Nope. Just just Connor doing terrorist type actions.

00:50:46

Connor and his boys from the council estate, all on a good 1.

00:50:51

It was wild, man. And Anthony Pettis ended up, I think, getting off of that card too. So we ended up going to some, some Mexican restaurant drinking drinking tons of tequila that night. Nice.

00:51:01

Nice. Yeah. It was fun. So the question is, obviously Conor McGregor and Khabib, 2 of the biggest stars. Jon Jones, right, again, is that level.

00:51:10

Tom Espinol is at a crazy rise. Do we think and Brian and Harrington, let's get your opinions as well. Do we think Jones versus Aspinall rivals McGregor versus Habib? I mean, the fact that we're having this conversation is, you know, it's great for for everyone involved. But what do you reckon?

00:51:30

I think there's a chance because Jon Jones has been so undefeatable over the past 2 decades that, Tom Aspinall has the best chance by far to be the guy. So I think a lot of people are gonna tune in to see that.

00:51:43

And I'll piggyback on that real quick. Also, I think there is because the way John played it with the media that this fight was never gonna happen, he kinda really created the appetite for it.

00:51:55

Yeah.

00:51:57

Look. Pay per view buys is tough. Right? Like, it's it's it is gonna be hard pay per view buys. I think you can walk away from it saying it's the biggest fight of all time because it's the biggest gate of all time.

00:52:07

You know? And I I think that's the I think that's the path to making it the, quote, unquote, biggest fight of all time. 2,400,000 pay per view buys is is that's such a crazy brass ring to grab for. Jon Jones versus Tom Astrol in this day and age when it's when it's just that easy on your phone to break a 1000000 pay per view buys would be astronomical, I think. No?

00:52:29

Well well, you're absolutely right because I don't think people understand. Right? The the these kind of numbers that you're talking about there, millions of pay per view buys. We see all these promotions go out there. I mean, what was that?

00:52:40

The PFL, was it Ngannou and Ferrera? I think they did like 35 or 60,000 pay per view buys.

00:52:46

They would be so happy with 60,000 pay per views, Mike.

00:52:50

What what was it?

00:52:51

What are they? Yeah. Like 12, 15.

00:52:53

Wow.

00:52:54

For that reason, for that I'm gonna continue with this. For that reason, by the way, we are taking nominations for the 2024 dildo, Dennis, dildo of the year award. You want to do

00:53:04

this week?

00:53:05

No. No. We're gonna take some nominations and let us know in the comment section. We'll go through it after. It's a prestigious award, Paul.

00:53:12

We like to do this every year. There's been Dylan Dylan Dennis, obviously, he was the guy that invented this award for us. He was the inaugural winner. We've got some very prestigious people winning in the past. So we'll be taking nominations for that later in the show.

00:53:26

I think

00:53:26

Gary won last year.

00:53:28

Alright. Well, should we go through the I'll put a tweet out. If you had to So when we say a dildo of the year, we mean an annoying person, Paul.

00:53:36

A douchebag if

00:53:37

you were.

00:53:37

And a dork in MMA all year.

00:53:41

Yeah. And Don Davis, somebody said him because we were talking about PFL and that kind of, that kind of, you know, that's what I'm looking for. I am tired. It got me talking about this. So this is on Twitter.

00:53:55

This is not me. Jamal Hill has been mentioned here. Don Davis, Jake Paul, Jake Paul. I'm not even reading this 1 out. Alright.

00:54:09

I will. This is gonna go with Anthony Smith. Shut up, you prick. And I don't

00:54:13

forget his opinion on it.

00:54:14

Don't forget Connor, Halwani, Jamal Hill and Tommy

00:54:19

Fury, Hunter Biden, Joe Biden, and Kamala

00:54:24

Harris. Anyway, it is never mind the dildo of the year award. We are joined by 1 of the best guys of the year, the 1 and only Moni Moikano. And also, you're a hard man to get a hold of, brother.

00:54:40

What's up? What's up, b spin? What's up? How are you doing, my brother?

00:54:44

I'm good, man. I'm good. So we haven't spoken quite some time. You know Paul Felder, of course. Yes.

00:54:50

Of course. For my life. How you been?

00:54:54

I'm being good. Training hard. Fighting in 4 weeks. So red getting ready for the next 1.

00:55:01

So we got a lot to talk about. The last time I saw you in person was in Paris. You went out there, dude. My God. You destroyed Benoit Saint Denis.

00:55:13

I mean, what a performance that was. Before we talk about your next fight, I mean, just talk to me about that whole experience in Paris and that fight in general.

00:55:23

Bisping, I saw you there and I talk. I remember Paul Felder was on the on the room too and I was telling they think I'm going to they think I'm going to come here to lose to a French but I'm gonna beat his ass and that's what I did you know I took advantage of the of the kick he kicked me I was expecting that once I was on the top I think Benoit Sandeep is a really good fighter but they rushed him you know they rushed him because he was doing so good and they they UFC they want to promote especially a European fighter, a French fighter, and I don't know if you guys saw on France, but every place that I was walking and going to the subway, going to this all over the place, I saw photos of BSD, you know? So even for me, he was even, more he was, he was more famous than than Gunny, right, a heavyweight. So that that means UFC was they were putting a lot of a weight on him, and that that was the problem, you know. He was coming off 5 finishes, like, doing very well, and then he lost to to to to DP, but he was he was winning the fight and they and they say, okay, I gonna put more time over that to lose, but I just beat his ass, you know?

00:56:47

Now now now let me jump in there because a fight is that we just have Joaquin Buckley at the weekend. They kind of feel like they're being brought in to lose. That was kind of the energy that we got from Joaquin Buckley last week. You just said that there, all they're doing is, and this isn't me defending the UFC. This

00:57:05

is me. 100%. Where do you get your paycheck from my brother?

00:57:08

No. No. No. No. No.

00:57:09

No. No. No. No. No.

00:57:10

No. No. No.

00:57:11

No. No. I do get my paycheck from them.

00:57:13

But let me

00:57:13

let me Me too. Me too. Me too. Look, I love see brother. Have

00:57:17

you No,

00:57:17

no, no, no. Hit me out. As a 45 year old man that isn't involved in the fight, you can look at it, a little bit more objectively. See, of course, they're gonna promote Benoit Saint Denis. He's the French person in France where they're trying to build the sport.

00:57:35

So they're trying to sell tickets and that because people wanna root for their own. It's like Guys,

00:57:40

not only that. It's not

00:57:41

only that. In England, they promote they were promoting me

00:57:44

like 100%.

00:57:46

In Australia, it's Volkanovski. In France, it's Benoit Sainte Denis. But when you're in the octagon, it's like, hey, figure it out, guys. You're the best to win.

00:57:55

100%. No, I'm not disagreeing you. When a fight is a fight and how many times was we saw Ahmed Seha against GSB? That happens, but, a fight is a fight, but is is is all about supply and demand, you know? Like you say, how many English fighters they have, how many French fighters they have, and how many Brazilian they have, you know?

00:58:18

If I if I'm a lot we a lot we are like the Mexicans of MMA, you know? If they need somebody to do the hard work, they're gonna call a Brazilian,

00:58:28

and if

00:58:28

they lose, they have another 1. So, it is what it is. I'm I don't get mad UFC. I know what they're trying to to do. You know?

00:58:36

Benoit Sandeep, young, special force, very very good fighter, but he was not in my level, and that's the that that's just me seeing objectively, you know? He's very aggressive, but if you look his his, technique, he he has some poor technique, you know?

00:58:56

Bro, you beat the crap out of him though. I mean, that was I said this on air and I got a little bit of abuse for it, but people that don't know they're stupid. That was a 10 7 round. That was a 10 7 round because you beat him from pillar to post for 5 minutes. It was amazing that the doctor didn't stop it.

00:59:14

I mean, is that kind of what you expected? Did you think you would run through him that easy?

00:59:19

Not really. Not really. I was expecting a tough fight, you know, but I knew I have been walking on my ground game, especially on on my ground and pound, so I knew what he he he he would try to do. You know? I saw him fight against Trevola, against Thiago Moises, against all the the other fighters, and he really thrashed on his butterfly guard.

00:59:40

You know? But I was telling my coach, if if if he's sweeping me with that shit, I'm gonna change my name because that does that doesn't work anymore. I'm I'm a jujitsu guy. I come from jujitsu, but jujitsu doesn't work like used to be, you know? So if you are in a top position, if you secure the takedown, jiu jitsu is going to serve you well, but if you accept takedowns and you pull guard or even if you accept to be on the bottom, you're gonna be fucked, you know?

01:00:08

It's just it's just the way things are are doing. And to me, Benoit Sandini, he always trashed too much on his ground game because he can use the the the hook to sweep, to reverse, or to get back, and I was just I knew, like, that's not happening. I I be when he tried to do that, I'm gonna elbow him in the face, and I know you didn't you did not ask about Dariush, but I want to give you my opinion on that because that's why I think the fight is going to be even harder because Benoit and Denis was not expecting me to for me to to put the pressure to control him on the top. Benoit, 100%, we expect that. So that's going to make my my my work harder, but no matter what, I am beating his ass in the same way.

01:00:56

I don't give a shit, you know. Benoit, I respect you a lot, Binu Dariush. Actually, from the old top from the old top 15, as a human being and as a guy that I respect, I think I respect Benio Benio Dariush the most because he's been vocal about about his religion and all that stuff, and I really respect him for that. But unfortunately for him, I gonna have to beat his ass on January 18.

01:01:22

Renato, along those lines of Beneil, you know, he's not a guy that was 1 of the best guys for a long, long time, but lately just hasn't necessarily looked as good as he used to. Do you feel like this is just the time to to get him out of that way, move further into the rankings? Do you do you think Beneil is at the end of his career at this point? And because of that, what kind of fight are you expecting from him? Do you expect him to try to go and knock you out?

01:01:45

Do you think he wants to play with you on the ground? What what kind of a strategy do you think Benil is bringing to you since you've shown the ability to fight on the feet, on the ground, wherever wherever it takes place?

01:01:57

The the the first question, if I believe if he's he's done, to me, that's irrelevant. You know? To me, I don't I don't know if he's in the end of his career or or if he still has, time to go. Only he can say that, but to me, it's irrelevant. To me, the question to me, it doesn't make any sense.

01:02:17

I'm going over there, and I'm dominating Benoit Benoit Benoit Benoit Benoit. I've I've done that. So next time it's gonna be Benoit Dariush. I say that so many times in my head that I got got on my head. So but I have the same mentality.

01:02:32

I'm going over there. I don't care if he he's in a good situation or he's in a bad situation or if he's good mentally or bad mentally. It's just my it's just my walk. I have to go over there and try to finish him and knock him out or submitting him on the 1st, on the second, on the 3rd round, doesn't matter. So so I don't I don't I don't think how he's think.

01:02:56

I don't think how he feels. I I know how I'm feeling, and I'm feeling great. You know? I'm feeling very good about myself. I'm felt I I'm feeling very good about my technique, and I don't even care about rankings.

01:03:09

I don't even care about nothing. I just want money. It's easy. It's simple that way. I want to go over there, be his ass, get some money, and keep doing my thing,

01:03:19

You know?

01:03:20

Brother, you keep doing what you're doing now. You're gonna make plenty of money. But speaking of money, speaking of big high profile matchups, what happened with the Patty Pimler fight? I could have sworn that the stars have aligned for you guys to fight by now.

01:03:35

Me too. I I I I should ask you because you work with UFC, and I don't know I don't know how the they didn't. Actually, I know why they didn't make the fight because I I would destroy Paddy, and they know. I know that. You know?

01:03:50

And it's not good business to promote a 30 almost 36 year They're gonna go over that to England and beat, like, a a guy that could be a potentially poster boy. Because let's be honest, Patty Pimlich, he's very funny. He has a good style, and he's not a terrible fighter. He's just he he just need to work on his on his defense. Right?

01:04:12

He knows how to throw punches. The only problem is his chin all the time, but eventually, he he can get better on this. So UFC is trying to do everything wrong this everything right this time because we've beat Benoit on the knee. They rushed him and they saw, okay, we our French product. Now let's work on our on our in English product.

01:04:35

Let's work on him, and I have heard that they're gonna do BSD fight against him, and I think that's a very good matchup. You know? I don't know if it's a deal, but you know how Twitter it is. Right? People are tweeting this.

01:04:46

I don't know if they're going to do or not, but if they do, just going to show everybody that they were not willing to risk Paddy Pimblett against Manny Marcano, but I think it's a very fun matchup. I think the build up of the fight will be awesome, and I don't even dislike Paddy Pimblett. I don't even dislike him. Fortunately for him, he's in my division and he's a big profile. A lot of people watching him, And like you say, I want big I want big fights.

01:05:13

I want big checks. Moy Khan wants money. Who do you

01:05:18

think wins that 1, Renato? Do you think, do you think, Paddy can beat, Benoit, or do you think Benoit handles that fight if if it happens?

01:05:27

If it happens, I think I think Benoit definitely should be the favorite. I'm not counting Paddy Pimblett out because we know that he can take a punch, you know, the Jared go ahead and fight. He received a lot of punches, and he has a good jiu jitsu. You know? But I think Benoit Sandeep, aggressiveness and power will be too much for for Perry Pimlich.

01:05:49

That's my opinion, but who knows? A fight is a fight. Yeah.

01:05:53

That's the truth.

01:05:53

What about you guys? What do you guys think about the fight?

01:05:56

No. I'm I'm sitting on the fence here as an Englishman.

01:05:59

Yeah. I mean, I I kind of agree with you there. That's why I wanted to to hear what you had to say, but I I I agree. I think Paddy is is pretty good, but I I I think that Benoit is just if he's on, like, you you did the right thing. You came at him.

01:06:13

You brought I don't know if Patty does that same thing, and if he backs himself up at all and eats too many shots, and doesn't get a position to get it on top, because even on his back, I I think Benoit's smart enough to stay out of triangles and things like that from him. And he's just so aggressive from the jump. He might be able to hurt him too bad too early on.

01:06:31

Yeah. And I

01:06:32

think coming off 2 losses. Right? Yeah.

01:06:34

He's gonna be hung up.

01:06:36

Well, this is the thing because Benoit Sondony, I mean, he's a very motivated man. He's a dangerous man. He's a guy that prepares and trains hard. So I think this would be the worst time to get Benoit Sondony. Yeah, he just lost twice.

01:06:49

And yeah, the mental, the confidence takes a little bit of a knock, but me, he is gonna be prepared and ready as best he can be. This will be the most dangerous version. I wanna ask you about something you said before, and also because it's really interesting. Because me and Paul were talking about this on Saturday night. You're a jujitsu guy, originally, correct?

01:07:09

Yes. Yes.

01:07:10

But what you said before is that even in today's climate of mixed martial arts, you can't lie on your back and rely on jiu jitsu. And hearing somebody like yourself, a high level Brazilian jiu jitsu black belt, realizing that and talking about that, I I think it's really interesting because me and Paul say it all the time. A lot of people, a lot of newcomers are people without the most experience. They get taken down, they lie on their back, they're trying to do submissions and all the rest of it, and they're just losing the fight. You know, but you as a jujitsu guy said, it doesn't really work in 2024.

01:07:45

Unfortunately not and I had a couple of discussions on the gym because it's still in especially Brazilians because I think as Brazilians they they see jiu jitsu as a Brazilian thing and if you're talking about you if you're talking about jiu jitsu, you're talking about Brazil in a same way, you know. So the other day I was telling that because the guy was asking me the opinion why he was doing wrong and I say you you you're trying to play God the whole time, you know, be on the bottom losing if even if you don't get, like, punished, you lose in the fight, you know, because your back is on the math. You you don't do nothing. So I I was telling that straight like that. Jujitsu doesn't work anymore.

01:08:27

You have to you have couple this is like, say, Andresosilva was a taikendo guy. Right? Taikendo doesn't work. He has couple moves of taikendo. The front kick, you know, the spinning back kick, the the the agility, the moves, but he's not a taekwondo fighter.

01:08:43

It's the same with jiu jitsu. You have very good positions, especially if you're on the top, if you can pass guard, if you can control the half guard, if you can go to the mount, if you can take the back, jiu jitsu is the best because the most time that we spent on jiu jitsu is trying to control the opponent. So of course you're going to be good at controlling, but that doesn't mean shit if you cannot take the guy down. That's that's a jiu jitsu. If you have a good jiu jitsu and a good wrestling and a boxing, you could be very good, you know?

01:09:15

But if you're just relying on jiu jitsu, you've done. We saw that with chrome chrome Gracie. And I was giving the example, say, Kron Gracie was trying to do that and and they were saying, ah, but Kron Gracie did. Kron Gracie in the Kron Gracie is a world champion in jujitsu. He's 1 of the best ever in gi and in no gi.

01:09:32

And look how terrible he looked on his last fight. How terrible. So to me, it's it's just like MMA. It's not kickboxing. It's striking.

01:09:42

You know? It's not Muay Thai. It's striking. We saw that when we don't see Koff kicks on on a kicks kickboxing match with Sui. We see in MMA match.

01:09:52

So it's different. You it's mixed martial arts. Get some positions of jujitsu, wrestling, boxing, and try to mix it up. I think people are missing the point trying to defend a flag. Right?

01:10:05

Say I'm jujitsu, I'm wrestling. No, brother. You should be an MMA fighter. Right?

01:10:10

Yeah. No. I love it. And to hear you as a jujitsu guy saying that because it does it kinda kind of annoys me sometimes. I'm like, what the hell are you doing?

01:10:20

You gotta fight. Don't just lie there on your back. Yeah. Because because guess what? Even though if you can tie them up, if you can get an over hook or an under hook and stuff like that, it's easier.

01:10:30

It's easier to just lie on your back and not exert energy, not have to wrestle or try and hit a sweep and wall walk. And then when you're on your feet again, now it's back to this shit. And so sometimes they kind of accept being on the bottom because they can get an over hook, they can tie the guard, they can do a body triangle and just slow down the pace of the fight.

01:10:50

Yes. I mean, sometimes you have to play guard. I don't wanna be on my back, but if somebody tried to take me down, I have to, but you have to know how to stand up. I think that's the most important ability on a grappling match, especially in MMA, is how you can be able to get back. But the problem is some grapplers, they are so bad at striking that they prefer to be on the bottom because if they get back, they don't know how to box.

01:11:18

You know? And it's just boring. You know? It's it's just boring. Some wrestlers, they have this problem too, and you have to you have to remember what makes the the the sport gross is the the fans, and the fans, they want to see crazy fights, or they want to see, like, a very good performance.

01:11:38

So you can if you can go over there and tenseven somebody like I did last time, that's great. And you're not you're not putting yourself in an in danger and risk. But if you just see fighters is stalling the fight, people don't wanna see that shit. People are not gonna pay tickets, and you you're not gonna you you're not gonna have a a very good career on UFC.

01:11:59

Now since we spoke, Donald Trump is now the president. Well, he's gonna he's gonna be the president. Money Moy Cano, You know, how has your life changed? When you spoke about Emmanuel Macron in France and you talked shit about him, the crowd just cheered their asses off. How is life for you right now?

01:12:18

What is the latest thing you're involved with? What's the latest venture? What's the latest investment tip you have for us, sir? Come on. What's going on?

01:12:25

I don't have adventures. I'm very safe. You know? I like to be home. I like to food read some books.

01:12:31

I like to train. And 1 thing that I can tell you for sure is you never should rely on a president. I think Donald Trump is way better than Kamala Harris because the debit, but no matter who is running, the office, your life depends on you, you know, and I always tell people that and especially because I Trump say that Elon Musk is going to try to cut some expenses, some like to to lower the debit, but it's almost impossible. If you go to the If you go to the data that even the government give us, the debit right now is like 1.30 percent the GDP, so the debit is just too high and I don't think President Trump is going to fix that in 4 years. So I have I see inflation coming.

01:13:18

You know? I'm not a economist, but 1 thing that I can for can tell you for sure is on the next 4 to 10 years, if you keep saving the dollars, you're gonna lose all your money because they are debasing the currency with printing money because let me tell you something. I'm reading a book that I'm gonna give you on my next fight. I'm not gonna tell right now, but the whole thing the whole thing is central banks are up. Central banks, they control the inter rate, the interest rate and they give all the incentives for the politicians and for the government to use their power in a wrong way and that means to lower the interest rates like they're doing right now.

01:14:01

We see inflation rising. Last year, the data show that the monthly inflation rise up, but they they say this week, they're gonna lower the interest rate. What they're gonna cost? They're gonna cause inflation, and they're gonna cause like we're seeing right now. The the market, the the stocks are up 30% this year with no growing GDP.

01:14:22

This is just printing money flowing to stocks and to houses into Bitcoin. So let me tell you something. Bitcoin is rising and will rise until 2,025. Today. 105,000.

01:14:33

Yeah. Uh-uh. And somebody was asking me if I miss my family, if I miss something like that, if I miss Brazil, and I and I respond to them. I miss to see Bitcoin at 16 k, brother. That's what I miss.

01:14:45

That's what I miss the most, to see Bitcoin at 16 k. I bought Bitcoin at 16 k. But if I could, I should have sell my home and buy Bitcoin at 16 k. But, but but there is no top because fiat currency, they they are they are the the base in the currency. So 10 years from now, who knows how much Bitcoin will cost?

01:15:09

So I advise you guys to to read the book. The name is What Government Done to Our Money, Moray Raffbar. He's Austrian economic and he say like that. Once the government start to mess with the interest rates and with all that stuff, with your money, that's going to be bad. So the next 10 years is going to be very hard if you like to keep money on the savings account.

01:15:38

Tell us, Paul.

01:15:40

Man, I'm learning. I'm learning. I gotta start chatting with with Moicano a little bit on on the side here.

01:15:46

Talk to Ben Askren. I don't know if you guys know know Ben Askren very well, but he was on Chimpoo, like, last last week last week talking about Bitcoin and he knows a lot. All the Austrian economics, he was talking about these guys. He was talking about all that stuff. I think he even invited me to be on the podcast, but I couldn't because I'm training.

01:16:06

And so so I missed that, but he knows a lot about about Bitcoin, especially people that got really early on Bitcoin like 2013. If you see why they did that, it was all because the 2008 crisis and how they were bailing out banking. So talk to Benazquez. He know his shit.

01:16:28

Well, 1 thing I do know is don't leave your money in the bank. That's damn sure. You're just gonna leave money every single year. But I'm asking you why? Why?

01:16:38

Why? Why? Why? Why? Because of inflation, the the money just becomes worth less and less every single year.

01:16:45

And who

01:16:45

creates inflation? How how inflation is created?

01:16:49

The government printing the money.

01:16:51

But how they print the money?

01:16:53

Because they can do it. They've got the authority to do that.

01:16:56

Government doesn't print money. Who print money is the Fed Brian,

01:17:00

this is Brian.

01:17:00

The Federal Reserve. Yeah. Yeah.

01:17:03

And the Fed then the Fed and taxes is staffed 100%. So that's the problem because most of people don't know how inflated inflation is created, and it's because they load the interest rate and they sell bonds to the Fed. So it is a scam, and that's why you cannot you cannot have, money on your bank account because they are taxing you through inflation. That's the real name. You're losing your purchasing power to taxation because they they they use this inflation to to get more debt and to sell and and to and to pay for wars and to social programs and welfare that they don't even know.

01:17:43

So that's why you have to look into this. At 36 years

01:17:49

old, Marcano, that's 35. Right? 35. You're 35.

01:17:52

Don't be don't be to me. Don't be to me, but almost

01:17:55

Yeah. Yeah. But you know you know about the the curse. Right? At 35 years old, you know, no one's been invited 35, brother.

01:18:04

How many more years?

01:18:06

We need titles, we need titles, right? We need titles.

01:18:07

I wanna tell Tyler 37, buddy.

01:18:10

37? Oh, you're inspiration only 1 night.

01:18:14

Yeah. Yeah.

01:18:14

What that means to not

01:18:17

How many more years you think you got left in the sport, bud?

01:18:20

I don't know. I don't think about that too much. You know? Whenever I I don't wanna stop, but if I keep if I go over then keep losing losing losing and putting myself at risk, I don't think that's very smart. But as long as I can make money, I will keep doing.

01:18:38

You're making money though, buddy. Yeah. Trading over Christmas, how do you feel about that?

01:18:45

I don't care. I don't care too much. I don't care too much about training. Like, I I have a focus right now, January 18, so I'm doing everything right. I was thinking about that, like, all the time.

01:18:57

Everything that I do is to have a good training session. So I go sleep early. I I don't wanna eat the stuff that I eat, but I do because I have to make the wait. So so so I have a I have a goal and I have a I have a goal set, and when I have a goal set, I'm happy. I'm just happy.

01:19:13

When I have a fight, I have to do that. I don't think too much. You know? I it's just go go go. I feel happy when I'm when I'm like that.

01:19:21

So if that means I don't have Krishna, that's okay for me.

01:19:26

Exactly. You gotta look at the bigger picture. Renato, it's good to good to have you back in action. Good to have you back on the podcast. Good to be learning a bit of the economics of the world from the 1 and only Renato Monemokeyano.

01:19:40

Brother, thank you for your time. Really appreciate it, Renato. Big fan. We were no one's bringing you into loose, brother. That's on you.

01:19:49

Simple as that.

01:19:50

Yeah. Right? Yeah. But they are they are they are a company, and they do what's the best for the company. And sometimes is the it is best to have a poster boy from England or for France, but then I will screw their plans every time.

01:20:05

Exactly. That's what you gotta do, buddy. Disrupts it. Buddy, get out of here. Hernan, so you're the man.

01:20:10

Thank you. Thank you

01:20:11

so much.

01:20:12

Thank you so much, Michael Bispin. Thank you so much, Paul. Thank you so much, everybody. And see you guys next time.

01:20:18

My man.

01:20:19

Be the

01:20:19

best. Take care. Thank you. I love that guy. Oh, perfect timing.

01:20:25

Look at that. From 1 it was like, it was like it was

01:20:28

Perfect.

01:20:29

Scheduled to an absolute tee. Paul, are you okay for time?

01:20:35

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I'm probably bounced after Michael.

01:20:37

Yeah. No problem. No problem. MJ. MJ, my man.

01:20:41

Wow. Unbelievable. You you you came in. You spoke at the fire meetings. You said you're gonna fight for another 10 years.

01:20:48

You're gonna go to your 48. You talked about feeling better than ever, put, pushing back farther time. And, you know, we hear people say stuff like that, you know? And then sometimes they go out there and they don't necessarily look that good. You went out there and flatlined that guy.

01:21:06

Holy shit.

01:21:10

Yeah. Yeah. I was trying to mention to you guys in the, fighter interview that I'm serious in what I believe in myself right now. Like I said, 38 is not really that big of a deal to me. I feel like I'm in my early twenties, Like I said, as long as I can stay healthy.

01:21:28

And this weekend was incredible, man. It was just a great weekend for myself, for my family. And just, I guess, all around, it it just keeps me going. You know? And those are the things I need, especially to back up the things I was speaking about in the fighter interview.

01:21:43

You know? I mean, if that fight doesn't go that way, everything I told you guys means absolutely nothing.

01:21:50

Yeah, dude. That that our reaction to that knockout, that was probably 1 of the most violent knockouts that I've seen right there. I mean, you did that, like, right in front of the broadcast booth. And just having everything that you said, I'm 40 now and seeing somebody that's still only 38 and you talk that big game and then you deliver like that, you looked just like the Michael Johnson that we've seen years ago, man. And you've shown that little spurts throughout your career and ups and downs, but to go out there and get just a a big knockout like that again.

01:22:22

And to have your family there, right, you talked about your family that drives all over the place to come and see. What was it like as soon as you got out of that octagon and got to hang out with everybody and just feel like a big old winner like that, man? I mean, you put the work in, you talked about the shoulder surgery. To have it all come together, what was it like for everybody to get to celebrate that with you in Tampa?

01:22:41

Well, for starters, you look good at 40. And I've been and I've been waiting for you to come back and and get a fight with some of these guys because I know you were thinking about it. You know, people keep telling

01:22:51

me, don't

01:22:52

let them come back. I'm like, don't talk about it, but I was always a fan of yours just like Bisbee mess. I loved your fighting style. But, yeah, back to your, question, it was incredible. And, yes, a breath of fresh air, you know, to get back to the house and to just have everybody there that was there to support me, just that loving I guess, have everybody cheer me.

01:23:13

That that was just that moment was all what it was worth for. All these 15 years that I've just been going on going on, I mean, just like like roadblock after roadblock, you know, and and just for to have my family to stick with me, you know, because there's been times where my mother, I'm for sure she thinks that she doesn't want me to fight and she won't tell me that, but I'm sure she tells, you know, other other people else in my family. So, that's incredible for her to just be extremely happy to see me go out there and get a win to be able to just, not be in such a bad place myself because I think that's what hurts our parents the most is not what happens to them, but what happens to their children. You know, if she sees me struggling with the fight game, if she sees me hurt all the time, you know, our parents don't want that. They only want the best for us.

01:24:02

So for me to go out there and do my best and to do something great in front of her, that just brought me to brought me all the joy I needed.

01:24:10

Look at this guy, Paul. 38 years old, UFC fighter for 15 years, and he's still worried about what his mom thinks. I mean, God bless you. Hell, yeah. So, hey, listen.

01:24:20

I I I gotta say, when you got that knockout and when you got on the microphone, you had 1 of the biggest pops all night. I know we've spoken before and you talked about some ups and downs. And you talked about, you know, finding out who your real friends are. And, you know, there's a lot of fake people around that attach themselves to success. And then when you go through dark times, people that you thought were friends weren't there anymore.

01:24:42

How good did it feel that after 15 years in the company to go out there, to get a knockout in, you know, in Florida, which is kinda like your new backyard, and to get that kind of reception from the fans? How did that feel?

01:24:55

It's incredible. Because I said, just like everything is just been going, the way I want it. And, you know, that's exactly what you need. This is, you might need those hard times to really show you who your true friends and a family and support team is. And, you know, you don't wanna go through them.

01:25:11

It's like almost like you gotta go through, like, some pain before you could see who's really there for you. And that's what that showed. And I have the right people around me. You know, I've been trying to find it for 15 years, you know, running here, trying to trying to find something that was already there. You know?

01:25:27

But just like I said, it's incredible. And 15 years running in the UFC, I know there's guys that have been here longer or just as long, but to go through all the ups and downs that I have, that's what means a lot to me. Like I said, every guy like, a lot of guys can do it and a lot of guys have done what I've been doing, but just to go through the ups and downs and for me to still be in here and doing it, that's something special to me. Like, some of these guys go through their hard times and they give up, and that's not with me. You know, I'm not gonna give up at all.

01:25:56

You know, there's no quitting me because I feel like and everybody knows once you give up or hit the quit button to sit, it's over with, you know, it's not gonna happen at all. So as long as I'm in it and I'm gonna continue to do what I'm doing, I'm still have everything in my grasp.

01:26:10

And you, on the mic, you kinda jokingly called out Chandler. Has has he responded to you? Has he, said anything or messaged you about that?

01:26:19

Yeah. Yeah. He did. He gave me credit about me having the best right hook in the UFC. And then, and then what it really stems from is a high school wrestling match.

01:26:30

She beat me 4 to 3.

01:26:31

That's such a good so

01:26:34

he brought so he brought that up and said, I must be still mad about that. And I'm like, yeah. I think he's got me on that 1. So it goes way back to when we were seniors in high school, but, but, you know, but it's not, like, a serious call out or anything like that. I was having fun on the mic and, you know

01:26:49

Of course.

01:26:50

You know, and and, you know, Chandler's he has a lot of attention on him, you know, and, he's an inspiration to me. So I shot him a text back and said, bro, you're an inspiration to me. You know, I was just giving you some shit. He's like, yeah, I'm a kick your ass when I see you. Don't worry

01:27:02

about that.

01:27:04

But, yeah, I'm gonna get

01:27:05

back down to the gym.

01:27:07

Mike, I'm just looking at your record here. And I'm not I'm not gonna read out all the names because there's too many.

01:27:13

Too many.

01:27:13

But as I'm scrolling through, Tony Ferguson, Joe Larsen, Gleeson Tibbauer, Edson Barbauser, Benil Dariush, Nate Diaz, Dustin Boyer, Abid Nabakamayev, Justin Gaeth. By the way, they're all back to back to back. Andre Iffile, Josh Emer. I mean, we're talking all the biggest names, Clay Guida. I mean, it goes on and on and on and on and on.

01:27:36

Out of all of those performances, out of all of those opponents and just legendary moments in your life, what has been the most satisfying?

01:27:48

You know, it it's it's hard to really pinpoint 1 when you go through that huge list. I'm gonna just have to take them all as 1. You know, they're all just as satisfying. Win, lose, the big wins, the big losses, the the upsetting losses, the ones where I felt like they were just robberies, they're all satisfied in in their own way. You know, they've all brought me to this point where I am now.

01:28:11

You know, they've all molded the Michael Johnson or the Michael and Minnis Johnson or the guy that goes in that cage right now and then the guy that's talking to you guys now that's molded me to the man I've become. So without any of those fights, I couldn't be here talking to you guys now. And, it's just, you know, incredible what I went through. When you're leaving when reading the names off, I was like, man, I did that to myself because these aren't, like, a lot of these aren't, they're not like fights that the UFC's, like, offering me. Like, these are guys I'm asking for.

01:28:41

Yeah.

01:28:41

You know, and just so that and the UFC's always been gracious with giving me these, fights, and I think I've made their job easy with me. Like, hey, I got in this business to fight the best of the best. Like, win or lose, I'm gonna see where I am as a fighter. Like, I've basically grown up in the UFC. You know, a lot of these guys have, prior experience, but, you know, I got in only 2 years fighting in the game, so I've grown up, I've had my bumps and bruises, so now I'm really at 38 coming into the the fighter I can be, and I'm really getting, some momentum I felt.

01:29:13

And with that being said, Michael, you know, you got a big win on Saturday. How how soon do you wanna get back? I don't I hate asking that question, but is is it important who it is at this point, or is it just more important to you right now to keep putting on performances that you're you're satisfied with? And with that, see where things go. Is that kind of the plan for me?

01:29:40

Or do you care if it's somebody that you've recognized? Do you care if it's somebody you haven't heard of? Or do you just care that it's another fight and another opportunity for you to show what you can do when you're healthy?

01:29:53

Yeah. Absolutely. You know, I was playing with those with those thoughts. And at this point, I think I've fought the who's of the who. So at this point, it really shouldn't matter who's standing across the cage from me.

01:30:06

It should matter about myself at this point. I think I've put in the the word work with these guys and, you know, I fought everybody, and I've showed time and time again that we're gonna have an entertaining fight. You know? Let's go ahead and get it. So I just wanna stay healthy.

01:30:21

Like I said in the post fight, I just wanna continue to grow even at this age in this stage of my career and, you know, get the best fights to put on for the UFC and for the fans and see where it goes. You know, like I said, I streamed together some more exciting wins and some great knockouts, and I slowly start climbing myself back up in the ranks. And next thing you know, these guys are gonna be like, oh, shit. Michael Johnson's back. Well, we left him for dead years ago.

01:30:45

You know? Like, we thought he was done. Like like, that that that's my plan, you know, just to quietly do my work and quietly do what needs to be done, whether that's fight another up and comer or fight these young guys or continue to go through the mud because I've done it before, I have no problem doing it again at this stage. And like I said, I think we have a relationship with the UFC now to where we're starting to see, okay, maybe he is still there. Maybe we can continue to, get some more fights out of him.

01:31:14

So like I said, it's all about just putting on some shows and growing at this point.

01:31:19

Yeah. Let let me ask. Bonus, Saturday night? I haven't seen that, your list. And you you've got tough competition.

01:31:24

I mean, there was a lot of knockouts. But did you get a bonus?

01:31:28

Yes. Surprisingly. Not not not surprisingly because it it was good, but, surprising because I say there was a lot of great knockouts. I mean, finish after finish. You know, I heard

01:31:38

it It

01:31:38

was crazy. They're like, oh, nobody's getting finished. Then out of nowhere, like like, 6 in

01:31:44

a row start rattling off. They just started rattling off.

01:31:47

It's the worst feeling because all of us as fighters, I've been there backstage, you know, and you're like, shit. There hasn't been too many finishes tonight. I think I'm getting that knockout. And then all of a sudden, 1 happens, you're like, and then another 1 happens. You're like, no.

01:32:02

No. That's my 50 gram got out the window. Yeah.

01:32:04

And then and then you're walking out. You're like, oh, I'm not gonna admit it. So, you know, we've all been there before. And, so that was satisfying as well just to be be able to to get performance of the night when there were so many great performances. I mean, you coulda gave it to any 1 of those finishes, and, they acknowledge mine and I'm definitely blessed that they did that 1.

01:32:24

And I just wanna say by the way, because there's a lot of critics out there like to say, oh, this fight is why they're begging for another 50 ks. It's like, bro, we all want the 50 grand bonus. Yeah. Yeah. It's a possibility is whether or not your name gets mentioned.

01:32:38

It's like, yeah. I'll take the 50 k, please. Yeah. Talk talk talk to me about Saturday night. You know what I mean?

01:32:46

What what happened afterwards? You go out. You celebrate. You enjoy yourself. What did you get into?

01:32:51

Yeah. A lot of a lot of celebration with with the family with the family and the friends. Yeah. Yeah. We we we we set at we set at home back at the back at the house.

01:33:00

We had a nice little, you know, bonfire and good music, and that's all I need at this point, man. I don't know I don't know, Phil, what it was like for you guys early in the UFC, you know, the first few years. You're you're young and you're winning the fights and everybody's around. You have to go to the clubs, you have to do the after parties in this, and I I I was living the wrong way back then because that that's not it. Like, this is it.

01:33:24

Like, going, winning, and go and relax with with your true support team and and everybody that came to see you that really loves you, win, lose, or draw, you know, and and just having that satisfaction. Not to mention, you're not spending any money, you know, you're not getting all linked it up, you know, so you, you know, you don't need to do any of that. So so finally, I'm getting getting smarter, you know, later in the career, and, you know, that's just all that matters now. So I think that's gonna continue to propel me even more in my later years.

01:33:54

It's as you say, you're around the people that you love. But it's weird because I think a lot of those fighters along You know, people that had a long career like Paul, like you, like me, like a lot of others, you go through different phases of your life when you've got a long career. I mean, 15 years, that's a long time in the UFC. You're not even the same person now, even if you wanted to be.

01:34:15

Absolutely. Yeah. Hey, hey, hey, you're a 100% right. I was thinking of that today as well. Like, it's strange.

01:34:22

Like, I have no aspiration in wanting to go out to a party or be around a big group of people that came into town just for the fights or or, you know, anything like that.

01:34:33

Don't get

01:34:33

me wrong. Like, I I love the fans. I I love them because without the fans, we wouldn't be able to do what we do either. But, you know, at the same time, just being in a middle of a big group of people and wanting to give you drinks and this and that, like, no. Like, I just wanna go home and relax and, you know, get ready to do this again.

01:34:50

Bro, you should have came back to the Fido Hotel with me and Paul and done an appearance for free all night long, taking pictures constantly after we've just worked a 7 hour day. Do you know what I mean? And we just wanna sit down and have a conversation and be left alone.

01:35:05

And still gotta announce the fight to talk about it. You know, you're doing you're working again. You know, you're pulling double and triple shifts. So and that's what a lot of people don't understand about it. So even though we do love it, it does take a toll on us and, you know, we need to kinda have like an even medium behind everything.

01:35:21

We do, we do. Listen, MJ, don't wanna take up too much of your time. Thanks for jumping on. We had to celebrate that knockout. It was unbelievable.

01:35:28

Can't wait to see you back in there. Big fan, love your work. All the best. Merry Christmas. By the way, we have a little thing called dildo of the year on this show.

01:35:38

Who's the biggest dildo? Who's been the biggest dickhead? There's people like Jake Paul that are up for a nomination. If you had to announce 1, the biggest dildo of 2024, who would that be?

01:35:48

Yeah. Yeah, you said that was pretty funny. The Jake Paul, I do like that 1. Okay. No, no, my dildo of the year is, I just saw this Haney.

01:36:00

Like, I'm sorry. Like, don't get me wrong. Like, I know you lost another guy, cheated on a little stairs or whatever, but you file charges and go to court. And like, this is a whole thing. Like, I'm sorry.

01:36:11

I don't see that. Like, what has happened to these to these fighters these days? Like- But on that, I was waiting

01:36:17

to see if you wanted to jump in Paul. I kinda like that though, because that will set a precedent and maybe stop other fighters from cheating. Because if somebody takes someone that cheated to court, they get, you know, whatever the charges are, whatever they call the charges, battery, assault, whatever, and then they get a punishment, maybe that deters other cheating scumbags in the future.

01:36:41

I mean, yeah, I agree with that.

01:36:43

Or is he a little bitch?

01:36:45

I agree with that, but he is kind of a little bitch.

01:36:50

Because at

01:36:51

the end of the day, like, yeah, we've all fought guys that have cheated. We've all fought these guys that are on PEDs or whatever, but he got his ass kicked from start to finish. Like, at least when we fight these guys at our service, like, at least we're doing something to him. Like, he just felt like I felt like he took that as a huge excuse that he just got completely beat that night. But I also agree where you're coming from, Bismi, and definitely should, you know, really take a toll on these guys to not be able to cheat, but test has gotta be stricter.

01:37:21

I mean, I get tested once a month, it seems like.

01:37:25

Yeah. Yeah. Alright. Well, I love it though. Devin Haney, dildo of the year.

01:37:29

You're the 1 MJ. Enjoy the win. I can't wait to see you back in there. All the best.

01:37:33

Alright. No problem. Appreciate

01:37:36

it. Thanks MJ. See you soon, buddy. There he is. The the Devin Haney dildo of the year.

01:37:43

He's spoken.

01:37:43

It would be your your guest real, your pick, your nomination, Paul. Come on. Come on. We gotta get 1. Hamilton and Brian, we need 1 from you.

01:37:52

I'll let them go first.

01:37:54

Hamilton and Brian, are they there?

01:37:58

Who would

01:37:58

be your delta of the year?

01:38:00

I gotta think about it for a second.

01:38:02

Yeah. I'm frantically googling who had the worst 2024. I'm gonna say Drake. Drake got bullied so bad in a rap beef that he has multiple lawsuits, against Kendrick Lamar and and his thing. So if Devin Haney's getting smoked, I think for sure Drake's gotta get it worse.

01:38:18

Brian McKay?

01:38:19

We can go with Jake Paul for trying to fight Mike Tyson. I think he could be our 1st double winner.

01:38:27

Paul Felder. And Harrington brought up another good 1 other other than Drake is, P. Diddy. I mean

01:38:32

Oh, goddamn.

01:38:34

Well, I'm stealing him,

01:38:35

and I'm gonna go pee

01:38:37

That's a good 1. That's a good 1. Listen, Paul, I'm sorry. He might have been using

01:38:40

those pillows as well.

01:38:42

Oh, geez. Well, he's got quite the stash of them.

01:38:44

He doesn't need to. He's been using his own on these rounds.

01:38:47

He's got a lot of them to

01:38:49

go on. Paul, you are the man. I think we got coach Swanson waiting backstage. I know you gotta get with the kids and make dinner and all that good stuff and get some rest from UFC Tampa. So thanks for jumping on, buddy.

01:39:00

You are the man. Talk to you soon. You get out of here and now it's time for the legendary Cub, killer Cub Swanson. There he is. What's going on, buddy?

01:39:10

Just hanging out, you know, just, still still riding the buzz from the weekend, but, you know, having to get up at 7 and get my kids ready for school and take them to school puts you back in the reality real quick.

01:39:23

So when I text you this morning about coming on the show, the reason I was kind of hesitant to do it because I thought he's gonna be in Florida, he's gonna be at Orlando, Disneyland or something with your wife and your children and just enjoying the moment. I thought I didn't wanna, you know, like, just like ruin Elmer, let the man breathe a little bit. But you're back home already on the school run.

01:39:45

Yeah. Yeah. I I kinda like that. It, it keeps me humble, me and my wife, you know, we had the babysitter for long enough and and they had to go right away. So it was right back at it this morning.

01:39:58

We got up kinda like, alright. Back on the grind.

01:40:02

Yeah. Yeah. No. It's beautiful, man. And I'll tell you what, for those people obviously weren't in the fighter meetings.

01:40:07

You said something and obviously what you just said there alludes to this. When we were talking about your fight career, obviously you're 41 years old, Cub. You've been involved in this sport at the highest level for so long, which is just legendary. And you said fighting is your 4th priority in life. 1st is father, husband, coach, and then fighter.

01:40:28

And now look at that, true to your words, on the bloody school run, the day after an incredible knockout.

01:40:36

Yeah. I mean, it's, that was that was the plan by design. When when me and Kendall got serious and we and she got pregnant and

01:40:46

Oh, shit.

01:40:47

We started having a family, I was like, okay. This is no longer my number 1 priority, and I've it's been a long run, and I'm gonna keep going as long as I can, and, you know, we'll I'll figure it out. And I was able to keep doing it and and and keep, you know, living my dream. And then I started coaching a lot more, and I was like, man, I really need to make sure that I have a running start with what comes after fighting so that way I don't panic when when the time comes. And, at this point, I'm so busy.

01:41:19

You know, it's hard to it's hard to say, hey. It's my turn. I I need to focus on me.

01:41:25

17 years in either the WEC or the UFC. I mean, that's incredible. You fought the who's who of MMA along the way. Some amazing names. You know, and obviously with that kind of career, there's some ups and there's some downs.

01:41:39

Saturday night, you went out there. You looked as good as ever. Fast, sharp, explosive, just like the Cub Swanson of old. I mean, just unbelievable excitement right from the get go. Do you ever think about putting your hands up a little bit and defending yourself?

01:41:56

No. It's it's overrated. You know, I was just watching a video. I had sent it to to a couple of my guys, and it was about the the Russian style of boxing and how they stay loose. And it's about rhythm when you strike, and it's about efficiency.

01:42:15

And if I had 16 ounce gloves in headgear, I keep my hands up because it's really easy to to to block. But MMA gloves, you don't block anything. I think, you're really keeping your hands up to block kicks that come. And but punches, it's better to move your head. Anytime that that you're blocking, you're still absorbing, so you'd rather get out of the way.

01:42:37

So that's what I focus on. Get out of the way and then and then just keep hitting.

01:42:42

I mean, you break up a very, very good point to be fair. Because with the small gloves on it, it is it is kinda hard to block. And even when you do block them, you still feel the impact. Certainly with the head kicks and stuff like that at all. Give me your thoughts on the fight because round 1, you looked incredible.

01:42:57

Round 2, Billy Q came back. He rocked you with a knee that, you know, obviously, you know, we have a gym together. I've known you a long time and I'm like, oh, shit. It's not looking too good. And then in the 3rd round, you land that right hand.

01:43:11

I mean, just unbelievable.

01:43:13

Well, I appreciated your non biased commentary. And, you know, I know I know you gotta do your job. I know what

01:43:19

it's like.

01:43:19

I get

01:43:19

a lot of shit for being biased even though I try not to be.

01:43:24

Yeah. But, I mean, yeah, I thought I did well in the 1st round. I think in the 2nd round, I I started to do well, and then he picked it up, and that's kinda what he does. And you said that in the fight. That's what he does.

01:43:35

And I saw that in the Damon Jackson fight as well, is he likes to pick it up in the second and then take over and and try to, like, erase what happens in the first half of the fight. And, that's worked out well for him over the years. And I knew that coming into this fight and and the whole thing was I was trying to do my conditioning to make sure, like, no, this guy's not doing that to me. I'm gonna do it to him. And in the 2nd round, late in the 2nd round going into 3rd, I was like, this dude really doing it to me?

01:44:04

And, I was able I was able to kinda relax and and get my wits back in the in the 3rd and take back control. I think once I started peppering him with all those jabs, he kinda lost focus, and I was able to have a little bit of time to think, and then I set up that last combo.

01:44:22

And what a combo it was. Unbelievable. Now the question is that everyone's always asking you, Kobe, is about retirement. We asked you on the microphone, we asked you in the fighter meetings. I'm sure your wife mentions it, your coaches mentioned it, everyone mentions it all the time.

01:44:36

You're probably sick of people saying it's like, shut the hell up, let me do my thing. But you're still going strong. You ain't retiring yet?

01:44:46

No. Well, the thing is I'm I feel like I'm ready. I just don't want to make a statement and say this is what I'm doing and then go back on my work, you know? You know, I I've been dragging my family along on this journey for so long, and and I've realized as I've gotten older that it it doesn't just take a toll on me. It takes its toll on everybody.

01:45:10

It's it's a tough business. You know? And, you know, I just wanna make sure I'm ready. So that way, when I say I'm done, that there's no coming back. It's not like I'm coming back out of retirement.

01:45:22

So I I need time to sit and think and make sure that that's that's what I want. I'm ready for it. And, but if you ask me right now, I'm very content in in where I'm at, and I I don't have desire to get back in there at this moment.

01:45:36

Alright. Well, fingers crossed we get 1 more, though. Come on, buddy. Come on. You can't go out like that.

01:45:40

You gotta get all the celebration. You're gonna have the crowd going crazy. Put the gloves down in the octagon, give an epic speech. Cub, so I've always wanted to ask you about this because when I speak to you, obviously, I met you through the UFC. We all and UFC gym Costa Mesa together and you're doing a tremendous job down there coaching team Bloodline.

01:45:59

I know you got a lot of good guys coming through and stuff. When we look at when I speak to you, you're articulate, you're smart, you're in control of your emotions, you, put your family first. You're a very grounded, smart, responsible human being. You know, but when we look at you, you're covered in tattoos. And I know when you were younger, you know, you were kind of kind of a wild guy, right?

01:46:23

And you credit mixed martial arts and boxing and combat in general with saving your life in some ways. Is that correct? Can you tell me a little bit about your journey and and and how it has molded you over the years? And for any youngsters that are listening to this, like, you know, maybe give them a bit of advice that are going down the same path and getting involved with gangs and stuff like that. Like, where were you, like, at the worst phase in your life?

01:46:48

Oh, man. Yeah. So, you know, the the the thing people don't know is they don't know, like, my full story. I really haven't told it in-depth, but, I mean, I I was adopted. My my, you know, my dad passed away when I was a baby.

01:47:04

I was adopted when I was 3 by, family that it was my dad's cousin. Him and his wife took us in, And we went to church, multiple times a week. I I ended up getting homeschooled majority of that time, and I wasn't allowed to watch, like, PG 13 movies. I was very grew up very strict. And then they ended up getting a divorce.

01:47:31

And and I think taking in 3, 3 little troubled boys probably didn't help their early marriage. When they got a divorce, I moved back in with my mom, my biological mom. And, my, my mom is such a sweet lady, but she she's, you know, got her own issues from her childhood and my grandma with her childhood. It just, it's, you know, how it is. And so I kinda went, moved back into like a dangerous neighborhood and I was always kind of a shy, you know, mama's boy type, but not necessarily a mama's boy, but I just I was a little bit more emotional person.

01:48:09

And, I never really was comfortable with with who I was as a person. So when I got to high school, and I'm I'm living in a more, like, dangerous neighborhood, and and I I was, like, I was in ROTC, and I wanted to go to the military. I wanted to be in the air force, and and they used to make you wear, uniforms to school. And and I realized that it was only the dorks doing that to get picked on. And I'm like, I'm not getting picked on.

01:48:39

No one's no one's messing with me. And I I kinda had to, like, make a decision. And I started gearing off over here with my oldest brother and my and my cousin who were already hanging out with the the the that crowd. And I started hanging out with that crowd and, you know, I I was at a you know, when you're 13 years old and angry at the world, you you you make a lot of dumb decisions. And I didn't have any father figure at that point in my life that was telling me not to do something.

01:49:11

And, you know, it didn't take me till 15 years old to end up in

01:49:15

What are we talking, Cub? Just like, you know, just what kind of

01:49:20

Just just, going to parties, ditching school, getting into fights all the time. And and really it was the stuff around, you know, people gang banging around me. I, I wasn't carrying a gun or, but there was a lot of people around me doing it, drugs, wild stuff. So I just, I, I was in, I was in that, that crowd. And, when I went to juvenile hall, I ended up going for a year.

01:49:49

And, the kid that I had gotten in trouble with, breaking into an RV, he blamed the whole thing on me. And he got out on probation, and I ended up getting a year. And so I had a long time to think about all my my mistakes. I was always a smart kid. And, I I started changing how I did things and taking responsibility.

01:50:12

I think the biggest thing I ever did in my life was my mom wanted to get me a lawyer, and she was pretty poor and didn't have any money. And I was like, you're taking food off off my family's plate. Like like, what kind of a prick am I? So, yeah, I told her I'd I'd ride with my public defender. She was pretty pissed about that, and I ended up getting a year, because I didn't have a lawyer.

01:50:41

And so but it was that was, like, my first time taking responsibility for my actions, and it it kinda be made me who I am.

01:50:52

Yeah. Yeah. I mean, and it's made you an incredible person, Cobb. Oh, crap. Hold on.

01:50:56

I need to get a new cable for my camera. It just keeps disconnecting itself every 5 minutes. So sorry about that. Yeah, it is amazing, Corb, because myself, you know, like fighting kind of saved my life because I was going down the wrong path. I was always getting arrested and into fights and shit like that.

01:51:15

And there's so many people that have a similar story. So, yeah, I just wanted to ask you about that.

01:51:20

I've read your book. I enjoyed it. It was pretty good and it made me respect you even more for sure.

01:51:26

Oh, there you go. Come on, Cub. Let's go. Let's go. I mean, is it Killer Kobi?

01:51:31

It's still Killer Kobi, or did you change your nickname recently?

01:51:35

No. No. It's, it's it's still Killer Kobi. And and to me that it really paints a picture because, you know, when I was going through all that stuff in my life, I you know, DMX had came out right around that time and hearing him for the first time, of him, like, his songs are were, like, struggling with his good and bad side, and he had his demons, and he was always wanting to do the right thing, but he would be like I really resonated with that, and I felt like that's really where Killer Cub came from, was me trying to not lose track of who I was as a human, but, you know, I I was dealing with these hard things. And and, it made me a monster when I needed to be, but still be the the the cub of every day.

01:52:24

And that's that's kinda has been me throughout my career. Like, I'm always cub just having a good time, but if you mess with me, you know, like, you you bring out the killer and I'll show up.

01:52:37

And that's the great thing about combat sports, isn't it? Because all of the adversity and, you know, we can all sit here and we can go on about our past and, you know, cry me a river and stuff, you know, everyone's got a story, you know, but we can take that and use it for something positive and use it for something good. And then as you say, harness it in the right way, and next minute you're knocking out Billy Quarantillo at UFC Tampa, come on.

01:53:04

That's right.

01:53:04

Go. That's

01:53:05

what it's all about.

01:53:07

Yeah. No. It is 17 years at the highest level. What's that what is 1 of the most memorable moments for you?

01:53:16

I mean, there there's so many. Obviously, the duo choice fight is is 1 of the greatest nights of my life. You know, I was I had doubts. I knew I could beat the guy. I, they were hyping him up and I was a big underdog and it was such a big show.

01:53:34

It was a lot of pressure. I got that before I walked out, I'd be looking myself in the mirror and and, like, talk crap to myself and and pump myself up and be like, hey. This could be the greatest night of your life. You just need to walk out there and do it. And it it pretty much was.

01:53:52

My wife told me later that night that we were having our first kid. So, you know, that that's why it's so memorable. You know, when I fought in WEC, I fought I broke my hand a week before the fight. I found out that it was broken. I, I decided to fight anyways.

01:54:10

I broke my other hand in the 2nd round. I still won the fight. Fights like that kinda showed me how tough and gritty I was. Yeah. There's there's so many moments that that I could pick out the the things that I'm I'm thankful for.

01:54:25

Yeah. They just made me see how strong of a human I am and and that's what I'm proud of.

01:54:32

And and rightly so. You should be. Now you were at a war with Billie Q, but I saw you and your wife on Instagram afterwards. You were looking smooth, brother. You had the glasses on, you got the mustache, you got the the hats on.

01:54:44

You looked you looked like you were doing a false ass shoot for GQ. You didn't you haven't got a mark on your face. What's going on?

01:54:54

A little little cut. Yeah. It was it it was kinda funny because we were getting ready together. It was it was actually really nice because I I've been doing this thing for so long, and then me and my wife, there there's a picture there.

01:55:09

Scroll through, Brian, to the end. There's a couple of good ones. Look at look at the I mean, James Bond or what? Look at that. I mean, talk about pin pin.

01:55:19

Let's go.

01:55:20

This is the first time that she was, like, so heavily involved in, me getting ready for the fight because she's always let me do my thing, and I've always done things my way. And she came in at the very end of my weight cut and helped me through the last couple pounds. And then we were hanging out together, before the fight because I didn't have to check-in till 9 PM, which is so late. So we were in the room getting ready, and my photographer that, is always around, we were like, hey. Can you come up and shoot us?

01:55:49

Because we have the arena right out our window. It's, like, too perfect. Some shots of us getting ready, and then it turned into, like, a little mini photo shoot. And I was like, man, after I kick some ass, I'm gonna post these photos. So it all worked out.

01:56:06

No. It's brilliant. You know, because these days, this day and age, everything's all content and everyone's got a cameraman and everyone's got this, that, and the other. I didn't do any of that shit throughout my career. I've got hardly any pictures.

01:56:18

So good for you for getting that, for remembering the moment, treasuring it and all the rest of it. Kumba, I just wanted to have you on here. We had to celebrate that win. I do believe there's a world class facility called UFC Gym Costa Mesa. It's 2860 Harbor Boulevard, Costa Mesa, I believe.

01:56:35

Yeah. Sounds about right. And we just started this Ulta program. So I'm I'm taking the rest of this week off. I'll probably I might start later this week, but I'm gonna be jumping in.

01:56:46

I'm gonna be the head coach, and we're gonna be coaching all these fighters that that these people that have never fought before or done anything. We're gonna coach them for 3 months, and we're gonna go against Huntington Beach, UFC gym, and we're gonna totally wipe them out. And, because I'm gonna be coaching them myself, and we're gonna get these guys ready. We're gonna get them in a fight, and then I got of course, I got all the bloodline guys coming up, so I'm gonna be busy for sure.

01:57:12

So so here's how I know you're a good person, Cub, because you've never once given me shit. I'll peel the curtain back. So I was just in in Tampa. I was in where was I? Somewhere, Macau, China, then it was New York.

01:57:25

I'm on the road all the bloody time. I'm hardly ever home. We're we're partners in a gym. I I haven't been there very much. Kobe's in there every single day coaching the, the the young up and comers and speaking to everyone and just having a presence in the gym.

01:57:40

I'm never there, and you've never once said, this thing, you prick. Get your shit together. Get in the gym. I'm coming there soon. Cobb, you are the man.

01:57:48

Enjoy this moment. I hope from a fan perspective, we get to see you back in there pretty soon. But, if this is if that was the last time, what a way to go out. Congratulations.

01:57:59

Thank you. I appreciate it. Thanks for having me on. And, yeah, whenever you wanna come by, I won't give a shit.

01:58:06

Come on.

01:58:07

Yeah. Yeah. Hey. The guys would love to hear from you for sure. Because like I

01:58:10

said No. No. I will I will come by. Well, I I had 3 neck surgeries, so I was I couldn't do shit anyway. But now I'm starting to get a little bit better.

01:58:19

So give me another feed. New year. In the new year, I'll be in.

01:58:22

Okay. Okay. I'm glad

01:58:24

New year. For sure. New me. New cub. Let's go.

01:58:27

Take it easy, buddy. Congrats again. See you. There he is. Harringent and Brian jump on real quick, and we'll wrap this bad boy up.

01:58:36

Oh. Coach Swann is just the nicest guy ever.

01:58:39

Dude, he's the man.

01:58:40

He, yeah.

01:58:42

Go on. We he

01:58:43

just he hopped on for a second with us, you know, when when he was in the backstage there. And it was like you know, I mean, a a guy who's a veteran of the sport like he is, you don't think you'd see, like, that, like, almost childlike wonderment of, like, yeah, man. Got the job done on Saturday. That was that was pretty sweet. That was a really good feeling.

01:58:59

Yeah.

01:58:59

Though, like yeah. He's he I think he had a pretty you're gonna go into too much detail because, obviously, he's a father and stuff. But, you know, he came from the wrong side of town and all the rest of it. And now you see him as this very composed, as I said before, articulate, smart, emotional, controlled person. It's unbelievable.

01:59:19

You know, I'm a great coach and a great business partner to have. And I'm a shit business partner to have. I haven't been in there for ages.

01:59:26

But I'm gonna be in there soon. Dildo of the

01:59:28

year, you had Mike Tyson. You had who? Brian? Or Hamilton?

01:59:33

I had Drake.

01:59:34

Not Mike Tyson. Jake Paul.

01:59:37

Jake Paul. Listen, guys, in the comment section, if you have a nomination for dildo of the year, we're gonna tally up the votes, and we're gonna award it next week. It's a big deal. It's a bit of a laugh for me.

01:59:50

Enjoying the laugh. It's

01:59:53

very prestigious. Never mind the fact that I won the fighter's only analyst of the year award many, many years in a row, you know? This is what

02:00:02

the 1 This

02:00:03

02:00:24
