Transcript of Bisping and Smith's BELIEVE YOU ME Podcast: UFC 309 Pre Show
Michael Bisping PodcastConceive, believe, achieve. Shut the fuck up.
You're listening to believe you me with Michael the Count Big Bing.
You know my name yet?
And Anthony Lionhardt-Smith.
Ladies and gentlemen, do not adjust your screens. It is the one, the only. Of course, he's back. He's been on a cruise. He's been all over the world. He's got a big smile on his face. He's got the rather nice-looking jersey on you there as well.
Yeah, I just drove home. I was training, and And then I hit the Chief's game and then drove home.
Well, it's good to see you, buddy.
It's good to be seen.
I feel like we got a lot to catch up on.
I know. We do. It seems like it's been a long time.
Yeah. How's training camp going, man?
It's really good. I know I say that every time, but I switched it up, and not that I'm not working with Mark, but I'm doing some additional things. I don't know. I'm in search of something. I don't know what that something is, Mike. But I'm looking for something. And Dean Thomas has been a breath of fresh air. It's a different perspective. It's a different way of looking at these fights. I don't know. I think I've just been all jumbled a little bit. And so we're organizing my game, and I feel really good. I feel more mentally prepared than I've been in a long time. Physically, I always feel great, but mentally, I feel very prepared and very sure of what I'm doing. And I think you can relate to that. I think sometimes you get into these systems and these modes, and you're doing all the work, but you just don't feel prepared mentally. And I feel more prepared right now than I felt in a really long time. Good.
You want to be happy. The mentality is such a big part of it. We always talk about it, but people don't really understand. And sometimes getting a new perspective, as you say, with Dean Thomas, who's been around forever and just has a really good way of connecting with people, speaking to them. You know you can trust him. You know you can trust what he says. He's got tremendous amounts of experience. Marmontoy is a tremendous coach, but sometimes something new, a different approach. Maybe he ticks a few boxes in your mind, mentally. You talk about some struggles or whatever, and you just get over these mental barriers, these hurdles, whatever the case may be. I'm glad to hear it's all going well. It's been so long. How was the goddamn cruise?
It was good. The cruise was good The cruise was good. We had a lot of... It was long. I've never been on a cruise before. The weather the last couple of days were shit. So we were stuck on the boat. We missed our last port stop. So the last two days were long. I scuba dived accidentally with sharks, so there was that.
I'm swimming with sharks every day, bro. It's all good, but go on.
This shit was an accident. I was not expected to be swimming with a shark.
How big was the shark?
It was probably 10 feet.
Get He said, Nigger, shut up. No, it wasn't. Don't lie.
I'm not lying. I got pictures of it. I'll send them to you. I'll send them to Brian.
You were scuba diving in the wild, and a 10-foot shark came along. Three.
We ended up with three. Not three at the same time, but three different sharks.
I'd shit my pants.
I thought that I would have, too. And if you would have said, Hey, you're going to go scuba diving, and you're going to come across some sharks, I would have said that I'm not scuba diving because I'm going to freak the put out. But they're very unconcerned with you. It's like we weren't even there. And we were drift diving in Cosmo. So you go down and the current is just pushing you. You can't really fight against it too much. So you just go down to whatever depth you're at, and then it just pushes you along. So the boat drops you off, and then it picks you up way the hell down away wherever you end up. So the sharks were like... I think one of the cool things was they were so effortlessly swimming against the current at a fairly high rate of speed, and it looked like they were just barely moving. But I tried to swim against the current, I was kicking and I couldn't do it. So we just passed each other, and they were just doing their thing, whatever Sharks. They're not concerned.
They're not concerned. It's like when you go see a tiger in an enclosement, which I've done in Phuket, they're not concerned with you. They're doped up to the max. These sharks, they see people scuba diving. It's like Tom Aspinal. John Jones isn't concerned with Tom Aspinal.
Are you saying that John Jones is the shark and Aspinoff is me?
I'm not saying that. I'm not saying he's a little minnow. I'm not saying he's a little tiny bit of bait, but we will talk about that later in the show. We do have a stacked show today. Of course, I mean, jeez Louise, it's finally here. Excuse me. Ufc 309 goes down this weekend. Very excited for that. I'll be in New York. So we're recording this one. You're going to get it at the usual time, but this is Sunday night. I've got a little cheeky We're going on here, just the first one of the day helping me with my pain, which I'm still enduring. We've got last night's fight to talk about. We've got the absolute joke and force of a combat situation going down Friday night with Jake Paul and 50 with old Mike Tyson. So we'll shit on that a little bit as well.
A lot of it, probably.
And we got a nice little bit of catching up to do, buddy. We do. Life is good, Anthony?
Yeah, things are going really well. Kids are killing it in sports. My seven-year-old started wrestling, so we're deep in wrestling practices. Training, I actually go to New York tomorrow, which would be, I guess, when everyone's watching this, I will already be in New York. But because I have to be there anyways and I don't I'm not going to mess up my training. I'm just flying training partners and Dean to New York. So I'm just training in New York. I'm going to be at Longos with Dean and my training partners, and we're just going to train all week there so that I don't get in a weird travel rhythm and start I'm messing it up. So I'm doing that. I'm pretty excited about the fights, and there's really nothing crazy going on here.
Well, nothing new with me other than just still enduring ridiculous neck pain. I had two surgeries last week, and I don't want to bang on about it.
I hurt my stomach when you typed out exactly what they did, and you were talking about the fusion was loose, and I was like-They slice me open.
They pulled the flesh apart to reveal the spine. The fusion was loose. They did a bone graft. They inserted some wedges. They redrilled the screws, tightened all that up, and then way up above it, there was some bone spurs. They drilled them off. There was a bunch of cysts growing all over and some slimy fluid and stuff. So they cleaned all that up. The nerve, the exit hole was all compressed and caved in. So they opened that up a little bit, stitched me back up, and it's two weeks later, and I still don't have any relief whatsoever. Obviously, I can move my neck a little bit. The swelling was crazy. My neck was out here for a bit. So I've been living in an ice machine. Ever since I've had the surgery. First thing I did in my life was yesterday, I went and commentated. Other than that, I've been vertical, lying down on a podcast, of course, because come on, ain't no big, guys. I can sit on my ass and talk a bit of crap.
Where did this all start? I know you don't like talking about it because you feel like you're going on about yourself, but I'm genuinely curious, when did the neck issue start?
Yeah, I remember it clear as day. I took somebody down I'm in training. I picked them up doing a double leg takedown because I can't wrestle you bitches. Picked them up. And then when I finished the takedown, my head connected first. So I had two body weights, mine and my opponent or training partner, and I hit the canvas or the mat with my head and then straight away. You know the stinger, that sensation. But this one was insane. It was like, literally, I put my hand on some high voltage wires. I was led on the floor for about It felt longer, but it was probably about 45 seconds. Everyone was panicking in the room. Yeah, I was like,. Anyway, whatever. And then after that, I had a fusion in 2018. That was 2013. They wanted to operate then. But people on this podcast have probably heard me talking about this a lot. But I'm still in absolutely agonizing net pain, and I don't think this surgery is going to do it, to be honest. And I've been losing hope a little bit. It's been hard. You stayed positive. I went and commentated yesterday. It was great because it gave me something to focus on, because otherwise, I'm just sitting at home in pain.
Do you know what I mean? What else are you going to think about?
Yeah, there's nothing to do. Yeah, there's nothing else you can do is just sit there and focus on it. It's like you're focused in on what's going on with it. I remember mine's obviously nowhere close to as bad as yours, but I got a pending surgery at some point in time. We're going to have to get it fixed. But I remember the exact moment it happened, too. I was fighting Elvis Mutopchik in the palms. I was like, maybe in 2016, and he was running from me a little bit. I went to throw a nasty elbow at him on the fence, and I threw it so hard. I passed by the whole front of my body, and I ran headfirst into the fence, and it kinked my neck. I remember it was not a stinger, but not as, obviously, as bad as yours. But that's when it started, and it's just progressively gotten worse since then.
I'm smiling because I was just thinking about something there because the way I'm at now, Because I used to work out every day. I haven't worked, I haven't done anything. Do you know what I mean?
Yeah, you're consistent with that.
That's one of the hardest things. I'm not working out. I've gone skinny as hell. Do you know what I mean? I'm losing muscle. I'm lying down. It's shit, man. It's pretty depressing, but whatever. Who cares? But the UFC are fantastic, obviously, and they're very supportive. And I went there last night, and they told everybody, Don't touch him, because I'm terrified right now. I'm going to New York. I'm going to be in New York for a week. It's a Gaudi city. And when I commentate- He was grabbing you by the neck.
Yeah.
They got hands off me. Do you know what I mean?
Because I have strangers do that shit to me. They did it today. Someone just come in, just grab you and pull you.
Get the fuck off of me. And what's his name? He's a very nice guy, and we all know him. A fighter for the UFC. He got a win recently, and he was so pumped in the apex. He's sitting there with your back to everyone. He walks past and grabs all of me. I was like, I want to kill you. So like they said, Is there anything we can do? I said, Just try and make sure nobody in the crowd or whatever grabs me. Dude, it was so funny because who was Eric Nixik and Sean Strickland cornering last night? Who was it? Hold on, I've got the fight card here. And Harrington, if you remember, jump in. It was one of them. Who was it? It was somebody... Oh, mansour Abdel Malik. Keep an eye on that name, by the way. Made his UFC debut last night. That guy's a knockout artist. Anyway, when I walked in, Eric Nixik and Sean Don't Strickland start taking the piss. Oh, don't touch him. What do you mean? He said, Don't worry, bro. We're not going to touch you. I'm like, What do you mean? He said, They came around.
Whatever you do, don't touch this.
Okay, just keep your hands to yourself.
Oh, no. Bless him. Bless him. Strickland said, Don't worry, bro. I'm going to leave you alone.
Okay.
I'm terrified in New York. Some crazy bastard comes up and grabs all of me.
Oh, no. There's nothing you can do about it because you're too good of.
Baby, I still got it.
I still got it. He's like, I'll throw hands.
I thought about this recently. I did. I'm like, because I'm vulnerable right now. A bit. There's not a bit. Just sitting here hurts. I need to lie down. I'm very vulnerable, but I was like, I thought about it.
We I'm supposed to do this episode with you laying in bed.
I did the fight meetings in bed last week on Wednesday. I was laid in bed, I was laid in bed, and halfway through it, Rebecca's hands just came into the shot. Hold on, hold on. Just like that. He was readjusting my pillows. And Laura Sanko was like, Oh, my God, this is ridiculous. Anyway, I'm thinking about this. Someone comes over and has a goal. I'll do that, and then I'll just be on the floor dying myself.
Well, I'll be there with you. I'll pick you back up.
Will you protect me?
Yeah, of course. Absolutely.
What a guy. What a sweetheart of a man. Anyway, should we talk about those fights last night? We have waffled on for quite some time there. Main event, Carlos Prates. I love this guy. I love this guy. Four fights in 2024, four wins, four knockouts, gradually increasing the difficulty level of the opposition. One on the contender as well. He's cool as hell. He's an amazing striker, had over 100 Muay Thai fights. He's just got some swag about him, took his time against Neil Magnet, and then boom, knocked him out cold.
Yeah, and walked right through everything that Neil threw at him. And I was thinking, man, we're going to see this kid pushed a little bit because Neil was doing a good job of closing the distance, dragging him into some ugliness inside the clinch, you push him against the fence, and they were grappling a little bit. I was excited to see Process pushed a little bit and maybe see what he looks like a little bit deeper in the fight. But then it was fairly clear and evident that... And listen, I love Neil. I love everything about him. He's such a nice guy. He's a sweetheart of a human, and I just want nothing but good things for him. But it was pretty evident right away that there's a big gap. At the end of the day, younger Neil might have been able to absorb some of those and take some of that damage and push a little harder. He's been around a long time. He's been through a lot of wars, and he's aging. I think that was a good on where the process is. I think there's no more easy fights for him. I don't think we need to...
We don't need any more fights to check where his level is. I think he's high level, and he's going to find himself in some pretty tough fights after that. Well, he's got to be fine. It's not safe. It's And really, at this point, he's had a couple of pretty tough fights. His last two were pretty tough guys, and he dispatched them pretty easily. So at this point, leech is tough, but we have to start protecting other people, too. You You got to put them in there with someone that can defend themselves.
Yeah, no, with that question. And it's crazy because he still smokes 10 cigarettes a day. We asked him at the fight meetings, he's like, Sometimes a pack a day, sometimes about 10. Because I wasn't sure. I was like, Do we mention this on commentary? And Brandon brought it up three times. I'm like, All right, then. So yeah. And you'd be surprised. Not you. I mean, the people listening to this. It's like, because, obviously, He's awesome. He's so good at his job. He's such a great TV professional. I think he has a tremendous voice. The energy and the passion and the respect that he has for the sport is incredible. I think he doesn't get enough respect and credit.
Totally agree.
He's phenomenal at what he does. He really is. But I think a lot of people don't understand because as we say in England, I've smoked the odd Bifta here and there. I've smoked the odd Bifta. I remember I was champion of the world and I was at the Christmas party for WME. They just bought it. So they wheeled out a couple of champions. Thank you, Rebecca. And I'm at the Christmas party, and I've had a couple. So I went outside and I bombed a smoke off someone. Do you know what I mean? And I'm sitting there having this cheeky cigarette, and I go in, and Dana comes, I was like, You enjoyed that cigarette? He's like, Bro, we brought you here as a world champion.
And you're outside smoking cigarettes.
You're outside smoking it up. I'm like, Oh, shit. He did it, really. I'm joking. But I don't think Brandon realizes. Like, what fire is? You know what I mean? What fire is?
It doesn't really-I mean, I was a smoker at one point.
Yeah. Yeah.
And Honestly, I still really enjoy the smell of cigarettes at times. Like that first initial light when someone lights one, always like... And then after that, it smells like shit. But that very first initial one, I don't mind.
It's good. It gives me a quick head rush. And then after that, I start to feel nauseous. Yeah, quick buzz.
Anyway, Carlos Pratt is phenomenal.
I could not be a bigger fan of this dude. He's a mommy's boy. He loves his mom. He was talking about that on the feature. Just got a bright future for him. I would love to see him against Michael Morales.
He's had him in mind, Dick. See, sometimes they don't do that, though. They're going to burn two contenders.
That's exactly what I was going to say.
One for sure.
Morales, undefeated, looks just as hot as a prospect, almost as hot as a prospect. So So yeah. But anyway, whatever. Well done to him. What did you think of Renier Derrida?
So I caught the end of that. That's the guy that came over from one, right?
One FC, two-way division champion. I think off the top of my head, a record of 17 and 2, almost all finishes via submission. A bit of history, Mirachar and Derrida had trained together. Derrida was talking and not a little smack, but he was confident because he tapped out Jerold several times in the training room. I had a tough fight, though, a very top five.
Yeah, I was reading about his... I was actually really surprised to see him come out and so blatantly talk about one, how if you're thinking about going and fighting at one FC, don't. I was like, Oh, shit. And we've heard those same things behind the scenes of other guys that have gone over there and not had a great experience. But happy he's here. Jerold Mearshar, again, is one of those I don't want to say he's a gatekeeper because that typically comes off as a negative connotation or if you call someone a journeyman. But it's a good gage of where you start somebody. Jerold is always going to be a a tough guy. He's going to... Especially grappling. Out grappling someone like Jerold or submitting him, whether it was in training or not or whatever, is hard to do. That guy is primarily a grappler. He's a veteran. He finds his way into situations that are favorable for him a lot. So, yeah, I think that's not necessarily a win where you're going to say, Oh, yeah, this guy is the next guy. But it's a good start. It's a good start. Yeah.
I mean, Gerald is one of those dudes. I mean, he's really tough. He's got a great grappling. He hits hard. He's a little inconsistent at times. There was people on Twitter today because there's an image of him led on the canvas, almost dead. And then Mirachar, obviously, he tapped, so he's on the floor. And people are like, this was a two-way division champion from glory, sorry, from One FC. And he just went toe to toe with Jerold Mirachar and almost died. So, hey, don't underestimate Jerold Mirachar.
On his best day, he's going to push the best people.
I'm telling you right now. But it does say, It does say something about the level of One FC.
There's something to the UFC jitters. There's something to that. It's your first experience, and he does have some high-level experience in big shows, but it's not the UFC, and it is different.
The riddice seems like a really cool I had a quick conversation with him. He seems like a nice guy from Holland, tremendous jiu-jitsu skills, not an easy guy. Joe Murchal, you got towards the toe with that guy on the ground, and you beat him at your own game, and you get the submission. Very, very impressive. Quick shout out, Gaston Balaniors for getting the win over. Cortavius Romius, Gillian Robertson, once again, using her submission skills. A mansor, Abdul Malik. You don't know who that is, probably. He was on the contender. Bro, the reason I'm bringing him up, this guy's ridiculous, man. He's ridiculous. He got the knockout last night, one minute, one round, 2 minutes 44 of a Dushkar Todorowicz. Tough dude, you know what I mean?
Yeah, he's a tough guy.
Yeah, tough guy, but he's not a Championship-level guy, of course. But a tough person to make your debut against.
For sure.
Not to mind the first round. And when you speak to this guy, he's like, he's going to be the UFC champion. You know what I mean? And I was like, I've seen this story before.
He heard this shit before.
I'm going to be a two-way division champion. I'm going to do this. I'm going to be the youngest champ of all time and all this. And then I went and watched his tape. I was like, Holy shit.
He's a conker.
He can grapple. He's got jiu-jitsu. He's got knockout power. Mansor Abdul Malik. There you go.
I have to remember that name. Remember the name.
Remember the name. Harrington. Let's see if he remembers his job.
Yeah, I remember. What's up, boys?
Nothing. I just thought to say hello. No doubt you've been pining and dying to have a bit of FaceTime with Anthony Smith.
I mean, obviously, I Obviously, I have a text drafted to be like, Dude, if you need someone to come out and film at Longo's place, I'm down. What's up? I miss Anthony Smith in my life.
I'm just happy you still work here. You should keep doing that. Maybe I'd be gone for a little bit and then come back and he wouldn't be here anymore.
Oh, really? Anthony, listen, bro. This is the only... Listen, Harrington's great. We all love Harrington, but dude, I'm subjected to only Harrington at times.
That's why I'm surprised he's still here. He's surprised. You've been stuck with him for a minute.
I've got a bad neck. I'm going to do a lot of shit, and then I'm going to deal with 90 minutes of Harrington. It's a lot. Please, Anthony, come on.
For me, for the believers- For you guys, only for you guys, not for Harrington.
Okay.
Okay. Thanks, Anthony.
Not for me.
You should come out to long as I don't come check it out. You're going to be sick.
You're not going to be there. Don't lie.
He's not.
Okay. I was planning on it, but what can I help you with this, you guys today?
Nothing. I just brought you on for a chin wag for a whole chat. I'm making a threesome to give you a bit of respect to bring you on the show. You're a part of the show. Have you got anything to bring, anything to add, any news, what's going on in the world of mixed martial arts? I don't know if you're aware of this, but you've got as a producer at the Believe You Me podcast. You might have had it since about 2015, I want to say. Probably like that. You use a bit of initiative, bro.
I do. I have good things in the world of MMA and the world of non-MMA, so I wanted to see what you wanted to go with first, what you were interested in. That's what I was getting at.
Yeah, it's okay. I'm only teasing Harrington. You're good. I'll tee this one up. Thank you very much, brother. Obviously, UFC 309 We've been waiting a long time for this one. Jon Jones, Steepay. We know all the story. We know the backstory. We know the Tom Aspen, all stuff. Last week, Jon Jones did an interview with Kevin Ioli And he's doubled down on this since with a few other people and says that if, and it's a big if, by the way, and we'll get to that later predictions, if he beats Steepay, then he's not really interested in fighting Tom Aspenal, and he would prefer a fight with Alex Pereira. What do you think about that?
I don't believe that for a second. I do partially believe the retirement talks, though. But if he fights again, I think it'll be... If he wins, like you said, it's a big if, if he wins, I think... If he wins and he fights again, I think it'll be Tom. I do. But I think he's negotiating. I think he's I think he's preparing Dana for the deep check in his pocket, I think, because Dana came out and said, Yeah, they'll probably both retire, likely. And then we're going to have to offer The one that wins, we're going to have to offer enough money that they can't turn it down so they can give Tom Aspenal a shot. Someone gave them a shot, and Tom needs his.
Yeah, but that's what he said, though. That's what John said. He said he doesn't want to give him the opportunity. Why should I allow him to make a name off me? And listen, Jon Jones has done incredible things. Okay, inside the octagon, there's no question. Outside the octagon, who cares? That's not what we're talking about. We've all made mistakes in our life, and I'm not here to judge the man or talk about any of his controversies. We're talking about fighting, and that's it. But you got to give opportunities. That's the risk you take. If you're a champion, you have to defend that strap, and you have to offer someone on the ability to take your belt. That's just the way the sport works. So you're saying, though, that he doesn't really mean that.
Devil's Advocate would say, John has been doing that for a significant amount of time, and at some point Here's the argument that I've heard. Here's the argument that I've heard, and one that I do have a hard... I don't necessarily like, but I have a hard time arguing it. John doesn't necessarily owe us a loss. And I think that's what a lot of the public, I'm not saying you and I necessarily, but I think a lot of the public almost feel like, and I don't even know that they realize it, but what they're saying is, Well, no, we need another one. Here's another guy. There's always going to be another guy. So if you're John, that's what you're thinking. There's always going to be the next guy. So I beat Aspinal, then it's going to be another guy that comes after that that they're going to talk about, which is how his whole career has been. There's always another guy that they think is the guy. So I don't necessarily believe that to be true, but that's the argument. And then the other argument is John doesn't owe us a loss. I think everyone wants to push it to the very, very end and him retire on a loss or see how far we can push him and see how long he can go.
At some point in time, the dude does deserve to be left alone and just retired.
Correct. You're absolutely right. And I wouldn't disagree with that. However, this is a dude that's the interim champ. You know what I mean?
It would be weird It is different, for sure. I'm just giving you the opposite argument that people will give.
If he was at 205, of course. You know what I mean? I've done it a million times. I'm not going to keep doing this. Of course, you do it enough times. Someone's going to come along. I'm going to get older. I'm going to skip a beat. I'm going to slow down. I'm going to get a little bit more beat up along the way as someone's going to get you.
I don't think if he struggles and still wins with Steepay, but it's close and competitive, I don't think he fights again because I don't think he'll risk it. If he smokes Steepay, there's no doubt that he'll go again, and it'll be Tom. But if it's close and it's competitive and he doesn't like it, I don't know that we see him again. But just for a hypothesis- Because he doesn't want to give a loss.
For a hypothetical situation, and we'll get into the breakdown and the nuts and bolts of the fight in a minute. Alex Pereira, Jon Jones. Let's just assume. Let's assume that Jon wins, which you can't take that for granted, by the way. That's crazy how much Steepe has He's being dismissed. But let's assume he wins and assume he doesn't retire. So we're assuming a lot. You'd have no issue if he fought Alex Pereira while Tom Aspinal- No, I'd want him to fight Tom. That's crazy, right?
I'd want him to fight Tom. And that's the ultimate... And I don't think John would do that. I think he's playing games. That's what John does. You can't believe anything that he says because John doesn't do much media, and when he does do media, it's very purposeful. He's playing a game. He's not being... I think when I do interviews, I just give you my genuine reaction and answer your question the best to my ability. But John, he's navigating through something.
He's very calculated, for sure. He's calculated, he's smart, he knows what he's doing, he's methodical with his career. And you're probably right. He probably is negotiating, playing a little bit of mind games with Tom Aspinal. You got to think when Tom saw that because I made him- I bet his head exploded. I sent it to him straight away. I was like, Tom, you're such a dick.
You're such a dick.
I know. I know. I think Tom's learning is later on this show, by the way. I am such a dick. And he was like, what's he playing at? But Tom is one of those guys. He's very in control. But John is a genius. He is a genius, and he knows what he's doing. So it could be a play. It could be in negotiation. It could be being real. It could be not just giving an FU CK. I'm like, bro, I've done this for so long. I've been at this level. You know what I mean? There is that side to it as well. When you just keep... I mean, how many belts has he got at home? Fifteen, six. So World Championships, gigantic paydays, one after the other. He hasn't got anything to prove to himself or to anyone. But I do think if he continues to fight, if he doesn't fight Tom Aspinal- If he fights Pereira instead of Aspinal, that's going to be a tough one. I would say Pat's head would fall off, but my head's on the verge of falling off. You know what I mean? So I'll go with mine. My head will fall off.
He wouldn't be able to come back from that. That'd be the ultimate... I mean, that would be tough.
Right. Ufc 309 goes down. Jones versus Steepe, the fight so long in the making. Who wins and why, Anthony? What do you think?
I haven't started digging deep, deep into my research, but to be fair, neither one of them brought to me. You know Steepe, come on. My instinct In my heart, and just my snap when you ask me, says Steepay.
That's interesting.
I think a lot of the advantages that John enjoys it, too, that he enjoyed it, 205, and the things that he does well, I don't know that they're necessarily going to be as prevalent at heavyweight. I think that he's always moved very, very well at 205. I don't care what anybody says. You add 20, 30, 40 pounds, you're going to move different. You're going to be slower. I think Steepay has the speed advantage. I think Steepay is a better pure boxer. I think he's big and strong. And like So preparing for this week in the fights, I did this thing with ESPN where I actually sat down and watched the fight with a reporter, my fight with John, and talked about the stuff that was going on in my head and how I was feeling and the things he was doing. And he's so magical in there. But a lot of the things that he did to me, he's not going to be able to do to Steepay. He held me up against the fence and bullied me because he was so much bigger and stronger and just better in the clench in that position than me.
I don't think he can do that Steepay. When John gets uncomfortable, he gets closer. He always has. He does very well fighting at range. When he doesn't like that range or it's not going exactly the way that he wants it to, it doesn't necessarily mean it's going bad. It's just maybe not the way he wants it to. His instincts will always bring him closer. That's where he feels safer. I don't know that that's always the best place to be in there with a guy. With Cyril Ghan, of course, that's the place to be with Cyril Ghan. That's a given. That's where everybody's going to be more... They're going to be more successful there. I don't know that that's the case with Steepay. He's a great wrestler in his own right. He's good in the clinch. He's powerful with the short shots. John's not the typical doubles and singles guy. He's just not. I think that they both have a lot of things that they have to combat, but I just feel like Steepe doesn't do a lot. He reminds me of Jan Blowich a little bit. He's very simple and basic. There's not a lot of flash and flair, but the things that he does do, he's very good at.
And so it doesn't leave a lot of opportunities to make mistakes. Guys like DC and Francis had opportunities to hurt him because they have big, big power in their hands. I'm not saying that. I'm not meaning this in a negative, but John doesn't have that power. I'm to I know for a fact. He doesn't. He doesn't have that power.
We've never seen John with a one punch knockout. With the way he beats people, he beats them down, he gets on top, he uses his elbows, maybe knees, clenches, elbows, chokes, whatever.
It comes down to the wrestling, though. It comes down to the wrestling.
But he does not have one punch knockout power, okay? And a lot of the time, you're either born with that, you have it or you don't. John doesn't have that. He has a tremendous amount of other attributes. I'm on some bloody new nerve medication. My God, I can feel it. I tell you that. This is making me a little bit disorientated. But Steepay does. Steepay does have one punch knockout power. Steepay could knock him out. You better take over. I'm telling you, this nerve medication. I'm starting to feel a little bit lie-heady right now. My God.
Yeah, Steepay could put John out in one shot. I don't know that John could do that to Steepay. I think it comes down to the wrestling, though. I believe in my heart of hearts, if John wants to be successful or is going to be successful, he has got to mix in takedowns. He's got to mix in the level changes. He's got to do something that's going to stop Steepay from just walking him down, walking forward, and closing that distance. And will he do that? I would suspect that that's probably his game plan. Will he get takedowns? Probably. At some point, he'll get one.
There's a lot of talk as well about Steepay being old. Of course, he's 42, okay? He's a heavyweight, though. Look, Look at Evander Holyfield. Look at what some of these older fighters have been able to do. And he's had three and a half years off. That three and a half year- Let's talk about Miles, though.
Who's got the more Miles? How many five-round title fights has John been in and trained in or trained for?
Yeah, but there's not. But the three and a half years away, I believe, will be a blessing for Steepay. He's a time away mentally and physically to rest, to recover. Listen, the last image that everybody had of Steepay was getting knocked out against Francis N'Garnet. And a lot of people that are new to the sport don't realize who Steepay Miaćk is. He's big, he's strong, he's got tremendous wrestling. If John thinks he's just going to go in there and out-wrestle him the way that he did Cyril Garn, I think he's in for an absolute shock. Look at what DC did against Steepay. Yeah, DC is a better boxer, and he got more takedowns, but Steepay got a few of his on. And DC DC had to work his goddamn ass off, and DC lost two out of those three fights.
Dc is known for his cardio, and Steepay was right there with him, pushing the pace the whole time.
We haven't seen it to your point. We haven't seen John really in a fight at heavyweight. The 30, 20 pounds, whatever it is, it will take his tall. It will have an effect. It will slow him down. He doesn't hit as hard as Steepay. He's going to struggle to take him down. John's longer, but not much. Eighty-four inches to 80 inches, which is four inches. But that's wingspan, it's too inch.
It doesn't really matter, though. It doesn't really matter, though, because- No, it's- John doesn't use his... I'm not saying he doesn't use his range well, because I know all these people on here are going to go off on me. He doesn't use his boxing range as as a weapon. Everything John does that's dangerous and controlling range is from the waist down. It's from the front kicks, it's from the side kicks, it's from the oblique kicks. He manages the range with his bottom half. He doesn't manage any distance. Go back, and if you guys don't believe me, go back and watch any John Jones fight. He manages, he'll put his hand out straight. He grabs his hands. He puts it out. But it's almost like he's creating this invisible wall in front of you that you don't want to pass. But he's not sticking jabs. He's not setting his range with his punches. He's not turning him over. He's not using his upper body to dictate the range. It'll take Steepay 15 seconds to realize that. I noticed it immediately. I noticed it immediately. I was like, because I didn't prepare for that.
And then that's why he's been so successful because he does have a unique approach. And until you've been in there and faced him, you're taken away. As you said, typically you're here, you're bombed, all this. He's out there, he's grabbing you, he's touching you, he's playing this game, he's throwing little teeps, he's throwing a bleak kicks and all this stuff. And it's a very unusual approach. John's a master of doing that, but he has had a massive reach advantage over most of his opponents. That's going to be massively minimized now, massively minimized against Steepay, plus the power, plus the strength, plus the one shot, plus the wrestling. I still think John Jones wins, but I think it's going to be a lot harder than what people think.
It's not going to be a whitewash, that's for sure. And for as much shit as I think Steepay gets, he's a very, very intelligent fighter. He's very smart. You don't always sound like- What are you talking about?
In terms of shit, what shit are you talking about?
Him and Velante are just a couple of bros out there. But he's very smart. He makes adjustments very well in real-time. I'm not saying he's John Jones level fight IQ, but he's not far off. You don't become the greatest heavyweight of all time, one of the most dangerous divisions in the entire world, versus some of the most dangerous guys that have ever been in the heavyweight division, if you're not smart. And I just think that John is going to have to bring something new, though. And I don't doubt that he will, but he has to because there's so much tape on him. You know what you're getting yourself into with John. Now, has he been the best in the world at it? No one's been able to stop it. So far, yeah. But at some point in time, that won't be the case. We've talked about that with Manda Nunez and Chris Cyborg and GSP. At some point in time, that will end. At some point in time, John Jones It won't be the Jon Jones that we know. Is that going to be the next time we see him? I don't know. But at some point in time, he's aging.
He's not a young man anymore. He's not the youngest UFC champion right now. That's going to change.
I just can't see. I mean, Jon is fast, he's tricky, he's good, he's got unique entries and all the rest of it. He's crafty, he comes with a good game plan. We know all of this. I still can't really see a world, and yet we've seen him training with the likes of Gordon Ryan and some of the best wrest as well. And that's fantastic. But still, when it comes down to it, I just can't see a world where Jon Jones goes out there and he's bossing Steepay around the octagon easily, like he did against Sybil Khan. I just can't see that. And granted, I couldn't see Ilyas Aporia knocking out Max Hollow either. And that happened, right? It happened. But I just don't think it's going to go down like that. I think Steepay is going to be there the entire fight, and I think he's going to really push him. And we could see a world where Jon starts to get tired because of that extra 20 pounds That has an effect.
And if it gets- It makes a difference.
And the one punch power that Steepe has as well, knocked out Verdu going backwards, Junior D'Arsantis, Alister Rovareen.
I mean, the list of- It changes the way that John has to approach the fight himself. It's one thing to wait in to range at 205 versus me, who you're significantly larger than and have this advantage. You can wait in, close the distance, grab onto him, and then drag him down or whatever you want to do. I don't have Steepay type of power. You can get away with that with me. But that's going to change. He's not going to be as comfortable to just start reaching and grabbing hands and trying to close the distance. It changes his approach. It has to.
Yeah, I talked about this last week. Because it will be different when you're there and then bang, Steepay drills him with the hardest right-hand.
That first time is different.
He's ever felt in his life because you know what that's like in a fight, Anthony, when we've got-I know what it's like versus Steepay. Yeah, Yeah. And you know what it's like versus Jon Jones. Right. So go on. Which one would you rather take, a right-hand of Jones or a right-hand of Steepet?
That's an easy question. I'll take them all versus Jon. That's the difference. One scares me and one doesn't. That's how I look at it. And one of them is significantly better than the other one. And I don't think there's any secret there. Jon, generally, broadly, he's a better, more well-rounded He has more tools than Steve does. I will say this, though. But one of them scares the fuck out of me and one doesn't.
Yeah, of course. John's crafty. He comes with a game plan. He's taller, he's longer, he's quicker, he's slicker. He's got more weapons. He's got a wider arsenal. Yeah, the knees and the elbows. He has a massive advantage with that stuff. If John wants to get a stoppage, I can see him getting in the tight clinch, just ripping him up with elbows, driving a knee into his face, doing a little foot sweep and getting him down while he's hurt and following going down because the way that John follows through with those elbows and the arc that he has is unbelievable. I mean, he just destroys his opponents with the elbows. So that's John's best weapon to me in this fight. Standing there trading isn't going to work. Takedowns, of course, you mix it up, you keep him guessing, but it's not a traditional fight. John's going to try and get in the clinch against the fence, use the knees, use the elbows, little foot sweep, put him down, jump on top of him. That makes it sound easy. It ain't going to be easy, mate, when Steve is going right-hand, left hook, fuck you, down the pipe.
It's different. It'll be different when John feels the power of the first day. It's different. And I've been in there with Excuse me, I've squiged there for a second. I've been in there with training and fighting with some of the heaviest hitters. I've trained with heavy hitters. There's just a few people that stand out that are different. And Deepay is at At the top of that list.
I was on the phone to two doctors earlier today because I got prescribed some nerve medication. I haven't taken it, so I took it. And then I had one beer. I'm like, We're doing a show. It's almost seven o'clock at night here. I'm like, What is it Sunday? I'll have a beer. Jeez, Louise. When I was talking before then, the room was spinning. Jesus Christ. I'm good now. Yeah, no, I'm good. Just for a moment, I was like, Jeez, Louise, just no more of the beer, no more of that. Harrington, should we do a non-MMA story before we get into Michael Chandler, Charles Oliver? Yeah, I have a great one.
I sent it over. It was not in the original email. It was the additional one that I sent over, but I think you both are really going to like this one.
Go ahead. I haven't seen it.
So there was a forest fire in New Jersey, of all places.
Love that.
You're very familiar with it.
It's great. I love that.
Good. Nice.
Let's celebrate this. Good.
Yeah, this is all good news. So the guy who started the forest fire started about four days ago, like I said, burnt up about 330 acres of land and people's homes, et cetera. It was a massive fire. The guy who started the fire was at a shooting club in New Jersey, so he was legally shooting guns, but the ammo he was shooting had a magnesium tracer on it that is illegal in the state of New Jersey. So When that shot off from the bullet, it hit some brush. That's what started the fire. Because it's illegal to shoot those, this guy is being charged with arson for 330 acres of burnt-up land.
Wow.
I shot a Tracer round at a wild hog one time in the middle of the night. It was awesome.
Tell me what a Tracer round is because I don't know.
I don't exactly understand the physics or the The reason it happens, but Tracer rounds, when you shoot them, they light up so you can see this red glow, so you can follow the round through the air.
Sounds pretty cool.
It's pretty goddamn cool. Yeah, I got to say, it sounds good. I was hog hunting one time, and some guy had them. He was like, Dude, here, shoot these Tracer rounds. All these red lights just went all over. It was awesome.
Do that again.
No, I can't do it.
All these red lights. It was awesome.
But it makes sense that it would... You got a bunch of dry trees and brush, and it makes sense that it would light it.
I feel for the guy, though. It's terrible.
I never considered that.
And that's precisely why. I guess you wouldn't think of something like that. But how many acres? 350 acres in New Jersey. Shit, bro. He's in a lot of trouble. A lot of trouble. Right now in California, same thing. Wildfires all over the place. Pisses me off every single time.
What if he has to pay restitution?
You think you're going to be liable to pay for all the fire department, all the work, any damage, houses, property, land? That's good.
Is that enough?
You're looking at-Coming an ambulance for some people. He's in a lot of trouble.
Yeah, you're looking at $3 million in land, at least.
More than that. But anyway, that's not the best subject, Harry. That's great. I feel bad for that guy. I feel bad for the guy, but don't use the trace of rounds if that's what they say. Oh, dear. Anyway, Michael Chandler, as we know, will be stepping back in there this weekend. I was going to say next weekend. Michael Chandler has had what? Two and a bit years away from the Oxagon. He's also 38 or 39 years old. Going up against Charles Oliveira, the first fight was phenomenal. Back and forth action. They both had a lot He's not a success. Charles is great. Chandler is very entertaining and takes a lot of risk. That's why we love him. But the man's got to get a win. And I feel like we might see him come into this one and fight a little bit smarter because he's got to No, not a chance. Because he's got to make up for the time away.
You don't think so? Not a chance. You don't think there's a world where he's like, I'm just going to get this.
I'm just going to go in, use the box, and pick him up, slam him. You're right.
No. Okay, I'm with you on part of it. I think he'll think he's going to do that. But I think I talked about this a long time ago. When he fought Dustin Poirier, it was in Salt Lake City, maybe. I was sitting there right behind Rogan. And I was an MSG. You're right, Harry.
He was MSG, and he just came out,.
So when he fought Poirier, I was right behind Rogan, and I was like, This is going to be an amazing fight. He's going to fight smart. He tried. And I was close enough where I can see him. I can hear his coaches. I can hear the corner work through the broadcast. I'm listening to the things with Dean. And you can see he's having this internal battle where he knows that I was just really successful with the wrestling. But this devil on the other shoulder is like, just go for broke. It And he can't help it. He's in this, but he's trying. I used to think that he was trying to be exciting, and he's not. It's just who he is in here, and he can't help it. If he tried, he would go and pull back and go and pull back. And you can tell he just says, I got to go. He can't help it. He can't change it.
When Michael Chandler fought, I'm just looking at it here, 268 against Justin Gagey, Madison Square Garden, once again. That was the craziest fight. I'm telling you, Madison Square Garden was popping. The noise was insane, right? And it was a wild fight, fight of the year, one of the best fights you'll ever see. And I felt so sorry for Shane Burgos and Billy Quarantillo because they put on an amazing fight. That was a great fight, too. The crowd was just like, speaking of cigarettes, they need a phone break. They're like, Fuck, we can only give you so much.
Do you know what I mean? We're fresh out of excitement here.
We need to take five minutes here, guys. You have Billy Q, Shane Burgos. You're going at it, but we can't do it. Yeah, and that's Michael Chandler, and that's what I love about this guy. And then against Charles Oliveira, who's never in a boring fight. Of course, he won the first one, ground of pound, I believe. How do you see this one? What's your prediction?
Man, I think Oliveira looked really good, even in a loss to Armand Serukian. And I think that's the tip of the spear. I think that Charles is still right there at the top, and he seems to have gotten better. I still favor Oliveira, but I wouldn't Are you surprised to see Chandler get a finish?
Yeah, it's just one of those, isn't it? You can make an argument either way. The reality is, if I like this, we don't know what's going to happen until... I know. You never know in any mixed martial.
You can argue that they both won in the last fight. It was just a tale of two fights, all of Eric getting smoked a little bit and then finishing in the next round.
For Chandler, though, I just feel like there's got to be a little bit of torment to himself, a little bit of potential. Now, I I don't know all the situation. I don't know how he was financially compensated. Maybe he was, maybe he wasn't. I was hoping he was. Yeah, the UFC are really good. They take care of everyone. You know that, Anthony, and I know that. I'm assuming, but we don't know that.
I'm imagining he did.
Two years ago, though, so I'm just saying there's going to be an internal fire there, a bit of anger, a bit of regret. And this is all great motivation to get you out of bed and go train. To whip someone's ass. You know what I mean?
That's what I'm afraid of. He's going to be so motivated to just go off. And we betray him as fans because we start cheering for him, and he gets a little bit heated in there, and it starts getting loud, and you can feel the building shake a little bit with the anticipation. And you got Oliver over there with his all just that mean, nasty face and big back tattoo and his blonde hair. And he's like, You know something crazy is about to happen. We just keep encouraging it and we just keep digging it. Chandler, just go. Just do it. Just step into the fire a little bit. Just throw. Just go, bro. And then he goes and it's this crazy thing.
What you're describing there, though, I mean, why wouldn't you lose your mind? Charles Oliveira. Forget the size a little bit now. Look at it from a TV perspective, and you're a similar size to there. He's ripped. He's got world-class jiu-jitsu. He's got the most submissions, the most finishes, the most bonuses. He's the former champion. He beat you down before. He's ripped a bit. He's covered in blood. There's 20,000 people. It's like the Coliseum of Rome. It bloody well is. It's Madison Square Garden. It's live on TV. And the coaches are like, Control your emotions.
Control your emotions. Let's just go get a take down here. Focus on positions. Emotion. What are you talking about? Like you hear your coaches on one end. But what you also hear is the stadium fucking rumbling. And you just want to go.
He's trying to kill me. Okay? I'm finding an instinct right now, brother. He's trying to choke me out. He's trying to elbow me. He's trying to make your name off my back. And there's 20,000 people. Yeah, control your emotions, bro.
Yeah, just slow down, stick the jab, control the range, get a takedown. Let's get to the GARDAS here and let's just Let's just gas him out. Let's get him tired here. Don't do anything stupid.
Yeah, right.
Lactic acid.
I tried doing that against Veto Belfort. Look how that's what he wrote.
No problem. No. Go for it, man. He's going He's going to go for it. And like you said, who knows? I have no idea. I'm going to have to sit on ESPN. I'm not going to have to pretend that I know. I have no clue.
I have no clue. I mean, Charles Oliver. I love that guy. He's one of my favorite fighters, just the way he fights. Michael Chandler deserves it.
And he's never won at MSG.
He's never won at Madison Square Garden. Dustin Poey, yeah. Justin Gagey, now Michael Chandler, the man I know there's pre-UFC. But yeah, poor guy. I don't mean poor guy. I mean, if he loses after spending two years away and doesn't get a win at Madison Square Garden, I could sympathize.
For I don't know. For the fairness in life, it feels like Chandler should be allowed to win. If the fight gods want to bless somebody, Chandler probably deserves it.
And he's just such a good guy, as we all know.
But the UFC is not doing him any favors. Oh, is that exactly? They put a monster in front of him.
Who could they have given him? The problem is lightway. Let's just have a look. There's no one.
Like Dan Hooker? Give him Dan Hooker again.
A rematch with Dan Hooker.
Yeah. It's equally as exciting.
Dan Hook is a beast these days, though. I know.
It's not a gimme, but it's at least one that he's- Somebody beat before. At least it's a mountain that he's climbed before. We know he's capable.
Real quick, Boehringer Ingelheim. Do you think he takes down Paul Craig and just smashes Paul Craig, or do you think Paul Craig can submit it? Do you think he can submit? I think he can. I'm not sure if he does.
He can submit it. It's tough going I can watch the Volk and Ozeamir fight. Paul, he's not a good enough wrestler to dictate where the fight takes place and when it happens, especially versus Boehringer Ingelheim. But I just think Boehringer Ingelheim's top pressure and then tough wrest like that are just so tough to deal with if you're a pure jiu-jitsu guy. There's no threat of the wrestle up. I think Paul Craig has got a better chance on his feet.
Well, no, he does. I think he's more accomplished on the feet. He's taller, he's longer, he's got some good kicks, he's got the range, he's more experienced.
I don't like to fight for Paul. I don't like to fight for him.
I don't know, man. I've got a feeling he could catch him. Boneicle's great.
And I like Paul. I want Paul to do well.
Yeah. No, no, no. That conversation is great, though. I want to ask you It's just going back to the fight before. Madison's work harder, everyone going crazy. I was there for a second. This nerve medication and half a beer. I'm right there. What's the craziest situation that you can remember being in? Because I've had a lot of fights. What's one that stands out to you in your mind that you had an experience where you're like, Shit, man, this is wild.
It was like two. There's two. So it was the first event when COVID, the first live event in Jacksonville. It was when Kamara Usman fought Masvidal the second time. And so when everyone... I opened the main card. So it was like, now we're live on paper. Jimmy Croup.
Jimmy Croup.
Oh, yeah. I was expecting people to be excited for sure, because it was the first professional sporting event live that they sold out for fans. And when I came through the curtain and my music was playing. They were going insane. It was insane. It was crazy. The USA Chance, Cuba Gooding Jr. Kissed me on the face. No. Celebrities were out. Tom braided was like... The whole thing was crazy. But then also, you were there in Singapore when I fought Span. You remember when the doctor came in and everyone thought she was going to stop the fight because my eye was swelled up so bad? I just just pushed her hand away and walked away and then just drew the crowd in and they went absolutely crazy because they didn't stop the fight. That was a fun one, too.
Yeah, it was great. When I fought Anderson Silver at the end of round three, and I went down, and like, No, the fight's still on. And then the war from the crowd. That's the shit that makes it hard to retire. That's what people talk about. That's what people don't realize. Why is this guy coming back? Why is Mike Tyson coming back at 58 years old? Well, there's a few reasons. Yeah, okay. He thinks he can probably beat Jake Paul. He's going to get paid. I don't know, a shit ton of money. We know that. But 58, something to train for, get in shape, have one last round, have another go, remind the world. And plus, he's Mike Tyson. He thinks he can still do it. He thinks he still got it in him. He doesn't give a fuck about watching Jake Paul and studying the tape. It's like, Hold on a minute. I'm Mike Tyson. I'm Michael Bisvin. I'm Anthony Smith or whoever it is. It's like, This is who I am. And you know what? I think I've still got it. And you're going to pay me a fortune to go on Netflix to get in shape, give me some purpose, give me a thrill, give me those memories that we spoke about at Madison Square Garden.
Once again, sign me up, take my goddamn money.
And it really doesn't tarnish his legacy at all because people are like, No, it's almost a 60-year-old man because even if he loses, people are going to say, You would have done that to Mike Tyson when he was in his prime. So you're not taking Mike Tyson's legacy. No one's going to be like, Oh, God, watch out for Jake Paul. He beat a 60-year-old man. Nobody's going to say that.
Anybody that does go Bro, Jake Paul beat Mike Tyson. I will struggle to not slap them in the face.
You didn't beat the real Mike Tyson, even if you do win. And you might not win. I've seen him in there with Rafael Cordero hitting pads and shit. He still looks scary as He still got two or three good rounds in him.
He does that.
He got 10 haymakers for sure.
Without question. Jake Paul swings and he's sluggish. Mike Tyson is going to get on the inside and for two rounds, maybe three, granted, then he's going to slow down. You never know, it might surprise us. But I would expect at the start, Mike Tyson is going to go all out like a maniac, and he's going to get tired, he's going to get gassed. Either he knocks Jake Paul out in one round, which we might see. We have never seen... No one's ever experienced very few people going up against Mike Tyson.
No one that remembers it. That's for sure.
58, great. I get it. I know it. And we can shit on J Paul all day long, right?
Of course. And we will.
And we will. And we should. And he deserves it. And it'll be great. I would love it if he knocked him out. It'll be so funny.
If he just flat lines J Paul. Oh, God.
Man. How do you show your face after that?
I don't know, but we're never going to let him live it down. We'll start every show. You remember that time, two weeks ago, when Mike Tyson knocked out Jake Paul? Okay, I just wanted to remind everybody. I just found a video of Jake Paul gifting Mike Tyson a pigeon, and then Mike Tyson telling him what he's going to do with it.
Okay, let's have a look. I've just never seen someone handle a pigeon. Is it a low budget pigeon? I'm feeding to my Falcon. So that's food for your Falcon?
Yeah. Oh, yes, man.
That's nature, bro.
That's cold-hearted.
Dog eat dog.
I just seen this quote Mike Tyson came out with. I don't know when he said it, but he said, Jake Paul is a manufactured killer. Yeah, no, I saw it. He's a natural born. That's crazy.
It was a good line. It was a good line. It's true. Listen, J Paul wants this image. J Paul wants people to think that he's a bad man. J Paul wants the respect that fight his Cri. Mike Tyson is that. Mike Tyson was born in the streets.
Mike Tyson was- This, by guarantees, he'll never get that.
Mike Tyson was an absolute killer, right? And he was up to all kinds of crazy shit on the streets. And then Custer Marta took him in, honed his skills, mentored him, nurtured him, kept him on the straight and narrow. He's still one of the craziest baskets we've ever seen. And he had some Insane knockouts, the youngest heavyweight champion of all time. Unbelievable career made ridiculous money, reached a level of Fame that was just insane. And then dropped off pretty quick and then blew all the money and went mental and all the problems with the law and stuff. And he reinvented himself. I'm sure he's doing very, very well financially.
Yeah, he's got his podcast, the movies.
J Paul is not that guy. He's just not that guy. You're a Disney kid. We all want to be tough. Everyone at school, all guys, maybe not all women, most women don't care. Some women do. Some women want to be tough. And I get that because there's a lot of women fighters out there. But all men, most men, real men, they want to be known as tough. You know what I'm talking about, Anthony?
You're 100% right. You're going to be fucking tough. Yeah. But no, everybody is.
No.
And that's okay. But it's the guys like Jake Paul that to manufacture it, to fake it. You've half-ask, halfway gotten okay at boxing. It doesn't make you a level... And the thing that he wants, he's by fighting Mike Tyson and conducting his career the way that he's done up to this point, up to this point, he might have still had a chance. It could have been a couple of matchups he could have taken that maybe would have gotten a little bit of respect. But this fight guarantees you'll never get what you actually want. You're never going to be respected by your peers and anybody whose opinion is worth hearing, you're never going to get that respect because now you're a bully. It's even worse. If he wins, it's even... You think it'll be bad if he loses. It'll be 100 times worse if he wins.
You're going to celebrate knocking out a 58-year-old man.
And he has been doing that. Look what they did to Vitor for the- He got the Holyfield. The Vanner Holyfield shit. He's been blackballed. When's the last time you've seen Vitor Belfort get a fight off or anyone talk about wanting to see him fight? No one even does interviews with that guy. Is that right?
I didn't know that.
I didn't know that. Nobody wants anything to do with him because he went out there and he beat the dog shit out of an elderly man.
And he didn't even play with him. He didn't have a little bit- He didn't.
A little opening, a little feeling out. He did it exactly how Jake Paul is going to do it. He's going to go in, and he's going to be being, he's going to move in. This is real. This is real. Even if you are significantly better, you better carry him if you don't want everyone to shit on you. It might be the last time we see Jake Paul because- Yeah, but Mike Tyson is a hard man to carry because he just doesn't have that style, and he's got himself in this trap.
But that's what he wants. He craves this image. He craves what Mike Tyson had. He craves what every UFC champion has. He wants to be known as the tough guy, the bad man. Don't mess with me. It's all manufactured bullshit. You're just not, and that's fine. Do you know how you could get that? Get the real respect? Find some real goddamn fighters. That's all you got to do. Picking on Mike Tyson- He did that once and lost. Yeah, exactly. Tommy Fury beating.
He did that once and lost.
Rematch him.
Why don't you do that? Here's what he should do. If he is who he says he is, and he's as good as he says he is, and he's that much better than Mike Tyson at this point, like he says he is, then go out there and show the whole in the world that you're taking it easy on Mike Tyson. Yeah. That's how you'll get a little bit... That's how you're going to get some people. That's what you should do. If you are who you say you are, go out there and make sure that it's very clear that you're staying just ahead of Mike Tyson, but you're carrying him and you're taking it easy on him because you're so much better than he is. You're taking it easy on him, but you have enough respect for him that you're not trying to outclass him and make him look stupid. Because that's possible. How many times have you done that in the gym? When you're in there, you got a couple of tough rounds, and then the coach is like, Hey, spar this kid. You got some kid who's significantly better than. You don't want to just beat the shit out of this kid.
So you just play, you play around, you stay ahead, you just touch, you move around, you touch, touch, touch, touch, touch, touch. And then the round ends. You didn't hurt him, but everybody else knows that watches who the better guy was significantly. Do that. That's how you get a little bit of respect.
Exactly what Sneaker thought Sean Strickland was going to do. Jay Paul is going to do the show on Strickland. Do you know what I mean? Yes, he is. Do a little spa. He's going to try and kill him. But you're right, if you played with him a little bit, just dance around, use the job, keep it nice and fun. But I don't think that's the bill of goods that has sold to Netflix.
Does he have the ability to do that? I don't think he does. I think he's going to have to fight for his first in life for three rounds.
He doesn't. He doesn't have the skill to hold him at He doesn't have the footwork or any of that stuff. He doesn't have the defensive mechanisms. He doesn't have the head movement. He doesn't have any of his shit. How could he?
He couldn't. He can't. So it's best to look to you.
Everyone's not going to be a tough guy unless you're willing to fucking do it. And He's a joke. He's an absolute goddamn joke. Herringbaum, jump on, buddy. You're on mute.
How do you still fizz up?
Anthony has not been here for weeks. He comes back and he's like, Yeah.
I'm just talking shit. Every time. Oh, you haven't got any better at this? Mm-hmm.
You're on fire today, Anthony.
I love it. I know. I'm sorry.
I need you here holding my feet to the fire, man.
You can pick up my slap, man, because I am dying. I'm in so much pain, bro. I feel- You're shot.
Just grab a shot.
No, I can't. I feel bad for Rebecca. I like nick and Adam from TNT Sports, BT Sports, they're going to be in New York. I've already apologized to them. They're like, We're going to be on that. Guys, I'm sorry. I said, If I'm boring you to death talking about my neck, just tell me to piss off. I'm boring everyone. That's all I'm talking about. When you feel like someone's burning you constantly there, though, it does dominate everything. So feel free to pick up this. It's distracting. It's a little distracting, but, Harrington, what have you got?
So do you want MMA or non-MMA?
Ask Anthony, he's the host for today.
Let's go non-MMA. I think we talked a lot of fights today.
I think this one's interesting. Australia has legislation on the books that looks like it's going to pass. They are going to become the first country in the world that will make it illegal for people under the age of 16 to possess a social media account. It should be older. Twitter, Instagram, anything like that up until the age of 16 in Australia.
I don't hate that. I don't I hate that. So my daughter, yesterday, proposed this thing to my wife and I. I had this whole plan that she thought was going to work. It ended with her getting Snapchat. It was a hard Snapchat. Really? Brian, do people still snapchat a lot? The kids be snapchat. Lucas!
It's got Lucas down there.
They're still Snapchatters.
So I keep my finger on the pulse with this thing for investment reasons. Snap is the highest-growing one with the younger generation. Yeah, they love Snap.
Harrods got his finger on the pulse with the investments and the stocks. They're called Stomps. Okay, Jason, wait a second.
I monitor this for my Wall Street buddies, and I could take a close look at this.
Just to keep everyone-The reason I put this in the notes, Anthony, is because you've got four daughters, of course. I'm sure you'd have an opinion.
Yeah, I like that because... And I'm seeing it now with these middle school kids and my daughter's friends. Not so much her because she has no social media, but a lot of her friends do. There's drama, and there's drama. This is crazy to me. There's been, I don't know, four or five times this school year already where Snapchat or TikTok or Instagram has been the vehicle that someone has used to make threats at different schools. And then the schools get shut down, and they're all jokes and kids saying the wrong things and whatever. But it's always social media, and especially with girls, the nastiness and how awful they are to each other on social media, because it's easy when you're behind a screen to talk shit about someone and mean, and they take pictures of people, and then they manipulate them, they send them out to people. It's an entire process that wouldn't have to even take place if they didn't have social media. If they were forced to just regularly text and have actual interactions in person, I think they'd all be a lot happier, and there wouldn't be as much self-consciousness and self-doubt and self-hating and all the things that happen with teenage girls.
I'm just talking specifically because I have them.
No, listen, I've got a daughter and I feel exactly the same way. And here's Lucas about to walk in here. Right now, Lucas, come here. I want to ask you, come here. You could have done your hair. Say hi to Anthony. Come down. What's going on?
How are you?
In Australia, and welcome to the Believe You Me podcast. Get down here. Come down here. I'll show you live.
There we go.
Australia, they have banned all social media for kids. Have They have. They have. What would be your response if we banned social media? I never told them we were doing this, by the way. Because you spend too much time on your phone. Way too much. Do your kids?
Oh, yeah, for sure. I hate it. I'm about to yell at mine.
I hate it.
I'm not on it an unbelievable amount of time.
I see other people. They have 12 hours on there. All right, go on. Get out of it. Get out of it. I would say... All right, go on. Just get out of here. He Yeah. The thing is, because they are, anytime he's at home, if he's not doing something-He's on his phone. He's on his phone. And I'm just as bad, so I can't-Oh, for sure. I'm not judging him. I'm not judging anyone. It's what everybody does. And I think that by just outlawing it until you're 16 is a great way to just avoid that. Never mind everything you said, never mind all the nastiness, never mind all the self-imaging stuff, never mind feeling that you're not good enough and being envious of other people's lives and going on vacations and wearing nice shoes and all that shit because there's so much of that. But just allows them to be goddamn present, to be present in the room and enjoying life.
And head up.
With your friends. At lunchtime, you're kicking a ball around or doing whatever the fuck it is, as opposed to sit in there looking at your phone and showing each other different memes and stuff, which is great, which is funny. And I've seen some good ones, but they got a lot of time for that.
Hey, do all your friends got Snapchat? Come over here and say hi.
Yeah, please. Get over here.
We're live. Get down here, Paul. Get down here. Hello. Will you put your face on there? There we go. All right, someone I'll show you. How are you doing?
Here, hold on. Headphones. Got to get the headphones in. How are you?
Hi. Nice to meet you. In Australia, they're proposing this law, and they're going to make it illegal for people under 16 to have any social media. How do you feel about that? What do you think about that? I don't want to live in Australia.
I don't want to live in Australia.
What is your screen time a day?
Yeah, be honest.
She said four hours.
That's a lie. You're lying.
What is it really? Four hours. No way. Two hours on TikTok and four hours.
I think that's it. What's your screen time, Anthony?
I don't even know how to look at it.
Yeah, I'm not sure of that either.
Get away from me. Hold on. Let me- It's lovely to see- Let's look it up real quick. I'll just search your screen time.
How do you do it?
Is that how you do it? Mm-hmm. Right there. Just search screen time. How do you look at it? How do you do that?
Screen time.
Show me. How do you do it? I'm nervous.
Bro, bearing in mind. Baring in mind. Oh. Look at this.
Oh, and mine's turned off.
Well, this is great.
Yeah, this is- What is it? This is bad enough.
But I just had next year And I've just been talking about how I'm just led horizontally most of the time. My daily average-How much is it? 10 hours, 37 minutes.
Ten hours? Mine has never been 10 hours. You're a liar.
Yeah, but I just had surgery in my defense.
He's been later. Get out of here. It's bedtime. Get out of here. Beat it, nerd.
That's it. Give him a good slap.
I'm serious. Quit it. Get out of here. I'm serious. We're making hard-hitting content here. Hard She just walked out of here.
Yeah, exactly.
She just literally walked out and said, Mom, I don't want to live in Australia.
Yeah. Sorry, which daughter was that, Anthony?
That's my oldest. Araya. What's her name? Araya.
Araya.how old is she?
She just turned 13.
Wow. Thirteen is going to be a tough age, man.
Yeah, it's already getting there.
With social media as well. My daughter, when she was 15, 16, man, everything changed.
Everything changed. I guess I did lie. I said she had no social media. She has TikTok, but she can't post, and she just watches the videos. So it's like the kid TikTok. It's actually really smart.
My daughter was so nice and daddy's little girl holding hands, sitting on knees. Then obviously, they grow out of that. She's still great. And then all of a sudden, gets to high school, she's getting brought home by the police. She's doing all kinds of shit. I'm not going to go into too many details, but she wasn't bad. She just hanging out with some girls that were like, All right, one time, some girls smashed a car window and everyone got arrested. But this neighbor watched and said that Ellie had did nothing at all. They told that to police. All the other girls got in trouble, but Ellie just got brought at home, and she was just hanging around with some idiots because she was still trying to find herself. Now she's a straight-age student. She's at a great college. She's doing incredible things. She doesn't drink, she doesn't party. But for two years, bro, for two years, she went She went. She went?
She was going. She was growing. She went. She was growing. She's in seventh grade, and it's hard because you want to just grab them and just guide them through every single scenario in life. But you can't. You got to let them go and figure themselves out and back off a little bit. And that's the worst part because you just want to be like, No, that's stupid. You're not going to like that. You're not going to like the results of that. But you have to let them do it a little bit. Letting them spread their wings and become their own people is an amazing thing to see, but it's also terrifying.
Especially when you like... Because we all think we know what's correct.
Yeah.
I'm like, That's the wrong move.
That's the wrong move. Don't do that.
That's wrong. That's wrong. Then I'm like, Dad, you're an idiot. Shut up. I'm like, No, don't do that.
This isn't the late '80s anymore.
Anyway, whatever. Parenting advice from two professors Professional fighters is what everybody wants. Let's have a look real quick. Hold on. What have you got, Harrington?
Well, speaking of this social media generation, some YouTube prankster showed up to Raul, Roshas Jr's gym. Nope.
Okay. No, we can. I'm so sick of this shit. I'm so sick of these YouTube pranksters. Are you sick of this, Anthony?
Yeah, I couldn't even finish watching it because it's so irritating.
I think this kid went a little further than normal.
No, but it's all scripted bullshit. I really enjoyed the part where he was in the back talking to his producer and being like, This dude's going to me up. Please don't make me go back out there.
That's all part of it. It's It's all bullshit. It's all nonsense. It's all bullshit. And we're supposed to buy it like an absolute idiot. Oh, my God. What's this guy doing? There's nothing original about it. Raul Raza is right by play to it. Yeah, of course, he'll kick your ass. He fights the New FC.
But It's all in on it. It's bullshit. It's all scripted. I hate it. It's annoying.
Play it, Brian. Let's have a look for everyone else watching this who hasn't seen it. So they've got a little bit of context on it, and I guess it'll burn two minutes. Well, I can sit here and just stretch my neck for a second. Can he I'm not going to move my boy? Because I'm using this one, homie. I find it disrespectful that you're using my treadmill. Are you being disrespectful? I'm not being disrespectful. I'm telling you this is my treadmill, homie, and I want you to move. Use that one with a push. Go on. There's just no way.
No way. And your friend moved Rosis?
Bro, he got some fight.
Don't pick it up, bro. Please.
You're playing, right? Man, homie. Just mute it, right? Just mute the video because it's so irritating because you're absolutely right. There's just no way in the world that somebody would even do that. It's such a stupid, Hey, get off my treadmill. Move off my treadmill. It's insane.
Look at that fake-ass punch.
I was in Bulgaria once when I was filming there two years ago, and I was lifting weights. And to be fair, that situation did happen. There's a lot of gangsters in Bulgaria, and I'm there, and the gym was He's dead and there's two dudes, and they're juiced up to the max, covered in tattoos and everything. And I'm using these weights. And the guy says, Can I use those weights? I said, Well, when I'm done, he said, I want to use them now. I said, Well, I'm using them now. Anyway, then I put them down and then I was using a bench or something, and he wanted to use that bench. And I could see I was lifting weights. I could see him through the mirror. They were sketching me out and stuff. And I don't know if they knew I was in the UFC or whatever. So I'm there filming a movie. I'm by myself. Last thing I want to do is get into a fight. I'll rather than find out, but I'm like, I'll go over to the other side of the gym. You know what I mean? I'm going to do that. And then they come over to my side of the gym again.
I was like, oh. And And then we're at a crossroads because the real you was like, I'm going to put you in on both these guys.
From the smart you, it was like, That's probably a bad idea in Bulgaria.
Probably.
Yeah, you're like, Which one's going to win?
Yeah. Harrods, can you give us a topic? So what do you think then? I've lost a fight card. Paul Craig, Bo Nickel. Give us a winner, Anthony, real quick. You think Bo Nickel pieces him up?
I don't know if he pieces him up. I think he gets a takedown and just smothers him.
Yeah, that's what I mean. Just that has his way. Yeah, probably.
I hope not. Just my own very clear biases. I'm rooting for Paul Craig and I can't help it.
Yeah, Fair player. Paul Craig is the man. As is Bo Nikol. Jake Paul gets knocked out.
I think so. Even if I thought otherwise, that's what I'm going to say anyways.
Steepay Meachich beats John Jones.
I'm leaning Steepay. It's big. I don't know.
It's a big- Have you seen the odds?
What are they?
Oh, my God. I don't know about now. Brian and Harrington, just look up the odds, please. Last week, Jon Jones was a minus 600 favorite.
What?
Minus 600. And I think Steepay was plus 440, something like that. That's insane.
Yeah, I'm seeing here Jon Jones minus 700 on Raph King, Caesars, and FanDuel, so the three big ones.
So what is Steepay, though? What is he?
You're getting five to one back on Steepay.
Five to one. Five to one. That's worth a lot. I mean, listen, I'm not advocating gambling.
This is not financial Financial advice.
Yeah, financial advice. If you can afford it, it's worth it. Put a couple of grand on Steepay. If you've got that sitting around five to one, it's not a bad shout.
It's not at all.
I take that back.
Yeah, for sure. Yeah, that's crazy. What's the other fight on the main card?
Mauricio Ruffy, James Jontop. Mauricio Ruffy, James Jontop. Jontop is a good striker. He's pretty exciting. Ruffy is exciting.
Well, I haven't got the record in front of me now, but they're both really...
I mean, if I looked him up, let's just have a quick- Ruffy, 10 and 1.
He's also in the Fighting Nerds.
Yeah, I know Ruffy. The other guy, I don't know.
The Fighting Nerd, man.
They are killing it, man. That's crazy. That's unbelievable. Yeah, it's different. They're doing good stuff. Oh, Wyman and Anders? Chris Wyman, Eric Anders.
That's on the pre-land, yeah. Have you been training with Wyman?
No, I haven't trained with him in a long time. It's been a while.
I thought you were going to train with him for this camp, no?
No. I was going to, but things changed. I went to Arizona instead and trained, which was a lot of fun, too. Do you know Javier Torres?
I know who you mean. I've never trained with him. I don't really know him, but I know who he's over.
Really good coach. Really good coach. Got a really good team, too.
Wrestling guy, right?
No, he's a jiu-jitsu guy. Okay.
Is that the lab?
No, he is in Arizona, though. But he's got it. It's called... The gym called? Ultimate Compet Center.
Okay. Yeah, with a K. How many weeks away from the fight now, Anthony, for you?
What's the date today? Just under a month.
How's the weight?
220, 225.
Easy.
Yeah, I'm light. I'm in shape. I feel good.
What do you think about Dominic Reyes? Now you've been training for him. I don't expect to give anything away on a podcast, but have you seen some things, some tendencies, some things that are going to work for you, opportunities?
Yeah, definitely. He's got a style. He does the same things. He usually doesn't deviate too far. He's easy to game plan for it. I'm not saying he's easy to fight, but it's at least easy to acknowledge the things that he does do and doesn't do. So he makes that part easier to deal with. I think Dean is one of the best in the world at understanding patterns and breaking guys down like that. So, yeah, that part of it has been really fun for me. You know what? Actually, something new that I've done now that I didn't I didn't used to do. I'm watching more film on my opponent.
Really? You never did that? That's crazy.
Never.
You never watched tape?
Never. Not on my own opponents.
Yeah, I used to watch it. You can do too much. For example, I learned this when... Because I used to study all my opponents, look for tendencies and all that crap. Then when I coached the ultimate fighter against Dan Henderson the first time, it was about a year between fights, and I knew I was fighting Dan Henderson because we filmed the show, then the show was going to air and all the rest of it. And I was watching his fights and watching his fights. And then come fight night, I felt like a little pussy. And afterwards, it's like, well, I'm not surprised. All I've done for the final year is watch highlights of him knocking people out. And then the next minute, when we talked about Madison Square Garden, it's Mandalay Bay, it's UFC 100, the biggest event the world's ever seen. And you're in there, and for the last year, I've just seen this guy knocking everybody out. And I was like, oh, oh, oh.
You become a spectator.
Yeah. Then after that, I was like, no, I'm never doing that again. I watched them. When I first find out who the opponent is, get an idea, watch a couple of fights. After that, leave to my coaches.
Yeah, I've always let my coaches do it almost solely. But Dean is actually the one who... I don't just watch the highlights, and I don't watch the fight beginning to end. What they do, they give this program where they cut certain parts of the fight. We're like, All right, here's this thing. And they want me to see it, and then they're doing these telestrations on the program. So I'm like, Watch this, pause it. Here's where this is going to go. Then they erase it.
All of them are doing this? Nice.
Yeah.
So you're doing that little break, actually stopping it and doing a little stuff.
Yeah, full on telestrations. So I'm not actually watching a whole fight. I'm just watching the pertinent information of what they want me to see. And then I don't have to watch it. But before, I would have been totally against that. Like, no, I don't want to see it. I'll trust you, and then I'll see it in person. But now it seems to be more helpful.
For the most part, I guess, in those situations, You've seen most things. I guess those telestrations or whatever, if there was a certain way they would stand up or give up an opportunity to take the back or whatever the case may be, open to a certain sweep. But I don't think Dominic Reyes is necessarily the most complicated guy to approach in that regard.
No, he's not super dynamic. And by that, again, I'm not saying he's not good. He's just not crazy dynamic. So it's fairly straightforward. But it's It's nice that I can see it so I know what I'm looking for. And then when I see a similar thing in training with my training partners that we have that we brought in to emulate that, they do it because now they've seen the telestrations, and so now I know what I'm looking for, and then I can see it. So that's something new that we've never really done before.
I'm excited for you, buddy. I'm excited for you. So we'll wrap this one up in just a second. It is a big fight card this week, and let's get the opinion of Harrington and Bryant. What do you think, boys? Give us your quick prediction before we get some questions and let Anthony get out of here. I myself get out of here. You get out of here. My neck is absolutely killing. The room is spinning. Who wins this weekend, Harrington?
I mean, it's so tough until I see it to bet against Jon Jones. I thought it was going to be Tiago Santos. I thought it was going to be Anthony Spanth. I thought it was going to be Dominic Wright. Go on down the list. So many people I thought were going to be the one to take out Jon Jones. And finally, after enough, I just said, This is it. Until I see him lose, I'm not going to believe Jon Jones can lose in the octagon. So as tasty as 5 to one is, I got to see it to believe it.
I'm still going to throw 50 bucks down on Steepay, just in case. Yeah.
Well, 50 bucks, that makes it nice and fun. You get 250 back, and if you lose it, so what? Okay, you had a bit of a flutter. I hear what you're saying, Harrington, of course, and I don't disregard Jon Jones one little bit. I think what he's achieved in this sport is phenomenal. I just think Steepay is being overlooked. I think people are underestimating the threat. And I did a video on I'm on my YouTube channel talking about that, and people are like, Oh, my business is just hyping it up because the UFC told him, What are you talking about? A lot of you people don't know. Just as everything we said before, that Anthony said, what we all went through, this is Steepay, god damn, Meachich we're talking about. Yeah, the last memory that you see of him is getting knocked out, and it was a bad one with his leg bent back. So what? We've all been there. We've all been knocked out. You learn from that shit.
You take time off. He also did that to one of the best heavyweight boxers to ever exist, the same guy that did that to Steepay. So it's not like Steepay is the only one that he's ever knocked out.
No, exactly. And he's knocked out plenty of people as well. So I think he's being overlooked. But I do think, my prediction, I think Jones probably wins. Brian?
That's fair. I'd like Steepay to win, but how do you bet against Jon Jones? It's hard. It's very hard.
All right. Questions with that Lionheart Smith. If you got one, send it into bympod@gmail. Com. What What have we got, Brian?
We do have a question here. Hey, BYM. It's Bryant in Amorello, Texas. Had a question about the appeals process for a fight. Carlos Leal had a terrible decision go against him at UFC 308 and didn't know if there was a process a fighter could go through in order to appeal a bad decision.
And on top of that, wondered if Mike or Anthony, you guys have ever had a decision go against you that you went through the process of an appeal.
I appreciate you guys.
Yeah, I've never had to do that myself. I've had some decisions that I disagree with, but I've never had a decision of one of my fights where I was like, That was crazy. So I've never... Yeah, I thought I'd be Chael. Yeah, I thought I'd be Van der Lijn Silver. They weren't robberies. You know what I mean? So it's like, I'm not going to put a complaint in and chase that and go down the avenue. I would assume you to the commission and you file a legitimate complaint.
Yeah, there is a process with the commissions. There is an appeals process. People have done it. I only know of one scenario where a fight has been overturned, but it wasn't even a decision. There was a regional fight in Denver. One of my teammates at the time fought at just a local show in Denver. And the guy There was an arm bar or something, and my teammate was caught in an arm bar. The guy said that he tapped, and my teammate said he didn't tap. So then they restarted the fight, I think. And then my teammate went on to win.
Definitely the regional saying.
Right. But then that guy went and appealed to the commission. Well, someone had a really good video of it. So Mark Montoya goes to this commission meeting, and he's representing his fighter and Listen, the fight went the way that it went. We won the fight. You can't go back and change that. Well, then they pull up the video and in the fight, my teammate's in the arm bar and he goes, tap, tap, tap, tap, Every time I've ever heard of the commissions overturning something like that, that's not a drug test failure. Obviously, those get overturned to no contest or whatever. But people have done it, it never goes. Because once you start opening up that can of worms, then everybody's going to start appealing their decisions.
And it's more than likely you're just going to waste your time. You're going to make a fool out of yourself. You're just going to take it. It is what it is. Sometimes if it's an egregious decision and it's blatantly wrong, that's a tough pill to swallow. And there should be more done. But I don't I think, putting in, trying to have them over turned. You're just wasting a lot of time and energy. You're asking the commission to go against all of their own people, their judges, and they can just explain it anywhere they want. Because judging your fight is opinion-based. You know what I mean? And you said, That was my opinion on the night. You can't necessarily overturn it, which is bullshit, which is crazy. And the judges need to do a better job. But I don't know. People don't really do it. Anyway, Anthony, good to have you back, buddy. I'm dying in pain. We're going to wrap this one up there.
Let's wrap it up. What day do you get in in your door?
If I'm honest, this nerve medication, I just started taking it. It was my first one. I'm never taking it again. I'm never taking it again.
Go get horizontal. Get some rest. And hopefully I'll see you in New York. I'll get in Tuesday. Perfect. Get a hold of me.
I'll be there. I'll be there Tuesday. I'll be late with the time difference. I might see you Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. When I do, you'll hear me. Ladies and gentlemen, thanks for watching. We'll see you soon.
