The pap f pod with Roan. Right now, we are about to embark on something that has probably never been done outside of CNN and Fox News and NBC and ABC. We have boots on the ground in an active war zone as we're doing an NBA podcast, so. Or a basketball podcast. So as we gear up to talk about basketball simultaneously, we will be doing ourselves a disservice if we didn't talk about exactly what's going on in the world. And interestingly enough, we have a correspondent who, instead of running away from all the firefighting and the bombs, is running towards it. And that is my co host, Mister Pape. So tell us where you are, and let's start it where our feet are at, and then we'll take it back a couple days and we'll tell the store the entire story.

00:01:24

Okay. So, first off, is it fair to say that I don't want to tell my exact location? Is that fair to say? Can I start off with that?

00:01:35

It does. Kind of nondescript on the walls right.

00:01:37

Now, but I am in. I just landed in Tel Aviv. Real quiet. Obviously wasn't quiet yesterday. The decision to go back. Right. We had some imports who stayed, you know, we had imports who stayed and some imports who decided to come back. I'm one of the guys who decided to come back. I spoke with some of my israeli teammates, captains of the team, and from their perspective, that, pat, we wouldn't go back if it wasn't safe. We were just flower, whole family to us, you know? So, you know, they. They told me that it was safe to come back and. And I'm here now.

00:02:34

My understanding of the situation is that you guys, as a team went on the road to Bulgaria this past weekend because there were threats of potential military unrest. Is that accurate?

00:02:48

No. So explain the whole.

00:02:50

Where you guys came back from and where you went to, say less.

00:02:53

So because of the history of war, a lot of teams don't want to play in Israel, so understandable, right? So we have to go to a mutual station and play. And a mutual station for us is Bulgaria. Summer cough Bulgaria. So basically, a summer call is like, basically our home arena for Euro cup games.

00:03:26

Got it.

00:03:27

So. So every time we play home, our home is summer cove. So we have to fly to Sofia, boom land in Sofia, take two hour bus, drive up the summer cove, which is like, it gives you snowmass, vibes. Not much aspen, but gives you snowmass, vibes. Little slopes and ski mounds. I stayed in a fucking cabin. Like, I had pictures of it. I'll send it to you guys. So, yeah, so our home is for Euro cup is summer Cove, Bulgaria. So that's why we traveled to Bulgaria to play. To play this Europe cup game.

00:04:07

So you have your Europe cup game against wolves, correct.

00:04:10

Yes. Not the minutes.

00:04:12

So it's wolves that. Yeah. No, no, Randolph. No, no, I'm sorry. Julius Randall on that squad. It's a whole different. Different type of wolves.

00:04:21

Yeah. Or Iowa Wolves also, if you're getting critical. So, yeah, a whole different breed of wolves.

00:04:27

So where are these wolves from? England?

00:04:29

I think they're from Germany. Lithuania.

00:04:34

Ooh. Different.

00:04:36

Different, yeah.

00:04:37

So you guys get out there and you play against them, and are you aware that there's a potential for there to be firefighting?

00:04:46

So we get to the gym normal in, like, 30 minutes, 40 minutes. You know, you hear about it, you know. Well, some stuff might be happening, but then you just see, like, I don't know, you just see it, like, on my israeli teammates faces. You know, you see it, like, something going on, something happening. And then I. I get my phone and I look at it. You know, I'm. I'm game old, Ron. So, you know me. I'm phone off. I'm getting my body worked on. I'm playing cards on my phone. I'm airplane moded out. You know what I'm saying? So, like. So I'm not really in tune to what's going on Twitter, what's going on TikTok, what's going on Instagram, CNN, all that type of shit. So I'm. First thing I hear is I get a text from Dave, are you okay? Hell, yeah, I'm okay. Then I get a text from Miss Lisa. Shout out to Barstool. Straight up shout out to Barstool. The first two people that reached out is two people from Barstool, Dave and Miss Lisa. So shout out to barstool. Off top. And then I should have started getting a whole bunch of shit.

00:05:56

A whole bunch of shit. So I'm like, oh, what the fuck happening, ax homie back home. Hey, man, what you saying? What you saying over there? He sent me link, boy, 200,000 missiles getting launched at all. Boy, you in Tel Aviv? Nah, I'm in. I ain't in Tel Aviv. So now I'm looking at my. It's really teammates, like, y'all cool? Y'all family's cool. I just got teammate who just had a baby a week ago. You know what I'm saying? He just had a baby week ago. Like it says, 250 missiles getting launched and they showing this shit. Like, this motherfucker. It looked like the 4 July I'm in this motherfucker. Like, man, y'all family's cool. Like, y'all cool. Like, you know, so, like, it's so tense. Like, the locker room is so tense. Like, it ain't even. Like it's basketball, but not even, like. Hold on. Y'all hear that in the background?

00:06:46

What is that? What's going on?

00:06:48

No, no. Ain't nothing going on, bro. My neighbors are kind of loud.

00:06:56

Your neighbors are loud?

00:06:58

My neighbors were loud. They play music and shit. None. I'm safe.

00:07:02

Are you sure?

00:07:03

I'm positive. Relax.

00:07:04

The way you got up, I thought that. I mean, don't not do much. Hey, there's no. Not too much anymore because you okay.

00:07:11

So.

00:07:11

So you're. So you're. You're looking at your teammates faces. You're seeing as different.

00:07:15

It's different. And I'm not even them. The coaches also. You feel me? I'm looking at people. We warming up and layup line. I'm looking at people hugging people. Like, I don't know if it's tears coming out people eyes or like, am you cool?

00:07:31

I was just taken aback by your.

00:07:33

Story, brother, to say, say less. Say less. I don't want to. And I'm fucking you up. And I ain't even close to you, my boy. You cool. Say that.

00:07:41

Drinking problem.

00:07:42

No, no, no. Or hole in your lip, but say less. You've been going a while. Don't trip. Don't trip all up. So, um. You feel it? Like, you feel it? I felt that shit. Like, I felt that shit. You feel me? Like, so the whole, you know, the whole pregame, you know, and our coach, he's trying to keep it, you know, strictly basketball and try not to, you know, let's focus and all that, because, you know, we do have to focus on a game, but at the same time, it's 200 some missiles being launched. And you got to think me and the other Americans, we like. You know, they like, yo, Pat, you seen that shit? I'm like, hell, no. Like, what's up? They showed me twitter. You know, I look like just flying in left and right and this and that. And my security guard from. From Tel Aviv, he texted me, like, Pat, everything's gonna be okay. And I'm like, fuck that. Are you okay? You know what I'm saying? Like, we get to halftime now. My phone is 50 messages. So I had a ton of people reach out, but my whole thing was like, my israeli teammates.

00:08:47

Like, y'all cool. Like, you feel me? You gotta think, like, they see teammates leaving with, you know, their girls and their ladies and. And basically, like, they leaving they family behind. You know what I'm saying? So, like, you know, you see a teammate, you know, his girl, his two children, you see another teammate, his girl, you see another teammate, his girl, you know, and they. And they basically like, pat, like, yeah, like, hell, yeah, we going back. Like, we got guitar families. I didn't have anybody with me, so I'm like, yeah, I'm going back. I asked my really teammates, like, yo, I'm safe. They're like, pat, we wouldn't go back if it was safe. We'll just fly our family out. I hit my guy, amri caspy. You know who I play with? Houston rockets. And who's real big in Israel. Yo, I'm safe. I can come back. Cause, like, you gotta think I'm doing two, 3 hours bus rides. I'm doing all that. Like, I need to get home on my bed. I need to relax. I need to do that. Like, am I safe? Everyone pointed to the, you know, you're safe, you're safe, you're safe.

00:09:53

Nothing's gonna happen. Nothing's gonna happen. So that's what made my decision be like, okay, cool, I'm gonna go back. I talked to my mom. She's like, why are you going back? I'm like, cause I wanna go back. I don't wanna be in a fucking hotel. I've been on the road for a week. I wanna go my ass back home. Feel me? But at the same time, you have to understand, Ron, like, I'm from Chicago, right? And I say that to say this when I sign here, obviously, I got a ton of, like, awful shit said to me via Twitter. I still got people like, yo, y'all come back. Papev on his way back to Tel Aviv. Y'all make another round. I got literally people telling, you know, y'all make another round. Pat bev there sim some more missiles. Like, I got nasty shit being said on Twitter, which is, you know, it ain't cool, but it's twitter, so it's what it is. You know what I'm saying? It is what it is. But when it comes to, like, hostile environments, you know, and I'm not saying this is the right thing, but I've been accustomed to the norm of burying younger kids and I burying people that raised me.

00:11:09

And, you know, at a time, Chicago was the leading nation's worlds. You know, they had more deaths than Iraq. They led the world in deaths, you know, so when it came to, like, a safety issue, I'm so used to, like, the Chicago militant vibe and the, you know, and it should not be like this. Like, it's crazy. I played for the bulls and I didn't get any text messages about, oh, man, you know, people are dying and stuff like that. I'm like, and I just had to bury a homie. I just had to pay for a funeral for, you know, a 16 year old that died. I just had to pay for a funeral for my homie that died. Ain't nobody speaking on all the deaths in Chicago, but when I go pay for another place just to play basketball, I get all the hatred and all that, you know, all those vibes. So they also have been trained to. This is the norm. Oh, yeah. You know, they do this and, you know, things. It'll be quiet for another week, you know, so this is the norm. So they said it was okay to come back, and I came back.

00:12:23

When you have your conversations with your teammates, where does that happen? Who does the speaking? How is that organized?

00:12:30

No, I just ask questions, you know, like, hey, y'all family's cool. That's my only thing. Like, my thing was like, y'all family's cool. Like, yeah, you know, we, you know, we, you know, they moved there, we here. You know, they in a safe room, you know, everything's cool, you know, just the alarms are kind of loud, you know, that, you know, kind of disturbed, you know, the kids that's in the house. But, you know, just. It's just. And it shouldn't be. And that's the thing. Like, it's. It's just that, you know, I had a teammate tell me, yeah, Pat, when I was twelve years old. You feel me? I'm hooping. And I just. I look up while in the gym and missiles just flying over. You can just go back hooping, you know, like, so obviously, if you've been saying that since you're twelve years old, you get older and that becomes norm. Just like if you seeing and kids in Chicago getting shot the fuck up. Kids shooting kids and kids shooting adults and kids shooting, missing their target and hidden, I don't know, other people and other little kids, you see that all the time.

00:13:36

It becomes a norm. So them, in this situation, I wouldn't say is the norm, but it's something that they've been accustomed to for a long time.

00:13:47

When everybody's saying their part in that meeting or whenever you guys have the conversation what are, like, guys, like, Motley and Kaboklo saying?

00:13:55

Oh, no, you know, I can't speak on them. You know, they really ain't. You feel me? Like, they stand. We got group chat, like, what guys are doing. You know what I'm saying? Like, what y'all doing? Y'all stand, okay, cool. Respect. Like, you know, y'all be safe out that. Pat, what y'all doing? Yeah, my, you know. You know, I got my family with me, Pat, so I'm. You know, I'm a chill. You know what I'm saying to, you know, we got a game in Serbia. We leave Sunday. You know, I'm saying? So, like, basically, I'm here Sunday. Like, I'm here with the israeli guys. I'm here Sunday. We practice tomorrow. You know what I'm saying? Like, you got to schedule practice tomorrow. So it's just. It's just a norm. That shouldn't be a norm. You know, war isn't good for anybody, right?

00:14:39

Unless you're a missile company.

00:14:41

No, war isn't good for anybody, right? Like, any type of war, right? And I got. I got friends. You feel me? That died behind the sword in Chicago. Like, war isn't good for anybody, so, you know, it's always peace and love. This way, man.

00:15:00

Do you have a safe room? Where you at right now?

00:15:04

A couple of them, yeah.

00:15:06

Can we see one?

00:15:08

I got to go all the way downstairs and do all that.

00:15:10

I mean, it'd be good for the video and just give me peace of mind that you have a safe place to go.

00:15:16

Yeah. How about I do it on the phone, and then I'll send it to you? We could put it on there.

00:15:19

I think that'd be. That'd be amazing.

00:15:21

Okay, say less.

00:15:24

Wow. That was a cool, safe room that you just showed us.

00:15:27

No, you like that? I mean, it's.

00:15:29

I can't believe that you had the, uh, the 45 pound dumbbells and the. And the xbox in there.

00:15:35

No. And a whole bunch of water just in case she get wild.

00:15:39

Yeah. And the Twinkies, because I heard that those could survive anything. So you have all these decisions to make, and you have all these teammates that you want to talk to. Have you been able to be in communication with any of your teammates as far as how safe their families are since you've been back?

00:16:02

Completely normal since I've landed.

00:16:05

What about the restaurant? Streets, bars?

00:16:08

Completely normal. Order some food on the way. Now, taxis everywhere, nightclubs open. Food spots open. Beaches open.

00:16:24

Is there a sense.

00:16:25

And it's like the. So today is the. What is it, the jewish new year?

00:16:34

Rosh hashanah.

00:16:36

Rosh hashanah. So a lot of people are with their families, but. So the city off that strength is pretty quiet. And plus, obviously, the shit that happened yesterday, the city is pretty quiet. But I wrote people outside, restaurants open. It's. Nightclubs open is, you know, it's normal.

00:16:58

You go to get the newspaper in the morning from the newspaper stand is the guy, like, I was crazy shit that happened last night, or are they scared or what's the general vibe?

00:17:07

You know me, I get off plane like they pat, boy, what you looking at? Our boy? Everything cool? Yeah, man. Don't worry about that, man. Everything normal, man. Everything's normal. So. And since I've been back, everything has been normal. One of my old teammates from the Rockets who played here last year was like, had I played there all season, you feel me out. I didn't have to go in a panic room once, and it was another teammate who's played here three, four years. Like, yeah, no, maybe I go, went to the panic room. I don't know, two, three times out of the three, four years I've been here, I go to panic room, maybe 20 minutes, leave, back out, I'm on the beach the next day. So it's a norm that people are used to, that they shouldn't be used to, obviously. But, you know, when it's safe, it's like, everyone knows it's safe.

00:18:00

Panic room is such a nasty word for it. I mean, that makes. It makes me panic even more. Hearing a call to panic room, I feel like they could rename.

00:18:09

Maybe I'm saying that wrong. Maybe it's, like, the safe room or something like that.

00:18:12

Safe room.

00:18:14

Safer.

00:18:15

Panic room. Sounds treacherous.

00:18:17

Yeah, safe room. Let me fix it, then.

00:18:19

No, I mean, I. I don't know what it's called.

00:18:21

I don't know.

00:18:22

It seems like the YouTube plaque at least made it over there.

00:18:27

You see it in a cut?

00:18:28

I see it in the cut. That's what I mean. I don't know if they're dropping shit.

00:18:32

Blocking a cut, like, near sporing you did.

00:18:38

I see that.

00:18:39

Say, I'm a do a bar stool podcast, and I'm a record 80 episodes. Fuck that. I'm a record 100. What, we at three now? When a contract says 80, I'm a committed worker. I'm committed. So if I sign with a team and, I don't know, team is not going well, or the team is losing, or the team is tanking, I'm committed. I'm gonna make it work and trade everybody. And with the Clippers, and we're losing. And what they want us to do, they want us to tank now, HC. Now we're gonna make the playoffs. I'm committed. So I'm just. I'm just a committed worker. That's all.

00:19:20

That's an admirable trait.

00:19:23

That's paid off so far.

00:19:25

Paid off? I see the Dior hat, pants, socks.

00:19:32

Paid off.

00:19:34

Is there a Dior store in Tel Aviv?

00:19:36

No, I went to the one in Greece.

00:19:38

Oh, very nice.

00:19:40

Woke up Mister Beverley. Your jet skis already? At 09:00 in the morning, me and wifey hopped up some jet skis next to, I don't know, $100 million yacht hula vibes. Light day.

00:19:48

00:20:21

Yeah. Pulled up on me overseas. Little Barcelona vibe. She pulled up on me. Went to Greece for a little bit. Pulled up on me like, that.

00:20:28

Sounds lovely.

00:20:29

No, no. Lovely. Greek freak. The nasties. I'm in Greece. The nasty. Call me, facetime me instantly. Anything you need, Pat. Yeah.

00:20:39

So ta. Is that boy?

00:20:43

Yeah, I was in Greece for, like, three days. Mister Beverly, your jet skis are ready. Thank you so much.

00:20:48

So do you guys go two on the same jet ski or separate jet skis?

00:20:53

She like to go. She likes to go, too. Cause, you know, I get a little wild. Like, I hit wave and I cool. But I'm. I'm also the guy that, like, ride out in the middle of the water, turn off jet ski, and just look at everything, you know, like, and just absorb it in. So, you know, I ain't really. I'm out of that wild stage where I'm trying to flip the jet ski and all that.

00:21:12

My wife wants to ride with me on the jet ski. Like, she. She doesn't even want to, like, crash her. She's, like, paranoid that should crash the own. But at the same time, then I'm trying to go pedal to the metal on. On mine, you know, I'm trying to go 70 miles an hour.

00:21:25

I ain't really trying to go pedal to the metal. I'm really like, let me get out right here next to a yacht. Let me turn it off. Let the waves kind of, you know, take a high take. That's a, you know, look around a little bit. Damn. Grease lit. You know, that's the vibe.

00:21:38

Which did you like better, Greece or Barcelona?

00:21:41

Oh, I don't know. That was in bars. We was in Barclay for a short time, so. But we. Oh, no, it was both different vibes.

00:21:48

Did you get to go out at all in Barcelona?

00:21:51

No. You know, it's basketball season. That shit can wait till it's done.

00:21:56

Yeah, but you're in Barcelona. I don't know if you just go to Elbourne one night and go to old Barcelona, walk around, get a nice cocktail.

00:22:02

Yeah, I think we got there late at, like, nine. But you gotta think my schedule is so full, right? My schedule's full with mandatory team breakfast and team clothing there, practice video, mandatory lunch, mandatory dinner. You know what I'm saying? So, like, my schedule be kind of full. So I don't really have room to, like, extra curricular activities.

00:22:28

I got a question, a hypothetical based on Barcelona. I went to Barcelona and I went to a flamenco club with. With my wife. And you know, the flamenco. These dudes are dancing fucking crazy, getting their hips into it. Girls coming up, and there's, like, a couple guys on the dance floor that are spinning everybody around, going crazy and everything like that.

00:22:51

Spencer wifey around?

00:22:52

I wouldn't even. She wasn't even. We didn't even have the discussion. If she could go on the dance floor, it was automatic. No, she's not going on the dance floor. She's not going on the dance floor. Try to dance with someone. Okay, Ike, so would you ever, like, say you're there with. With wifey and she's like, I want to go, like, dance flamenco? And you're like, I'm not really trying to dance flamenco like these dudes. You know what I mean? I would look like a dickhead if I even tried to hit. Hit the hip movements that these dudes are hitting. Would you ever let wifey dance flamenco with another man?

00:23:27

No.

00:23:28

No, never. This is one of the rare ones where you and me are in lockstep, 100% never for both of them. Hey, hey, hey.

00:23:42

And I'm looking at him like, hey, buddy, you got rolls out.

00:23:46

Your motherfucker better dance your way back to the corner.

00:23:49

Yeah. Spin your ass back onto the back throw my boy. Take that rolls out your.

00:23:53

She's taken. Yeah, that's, uh. That happened to me in, uh. In Wildwood, New Jersey. Wildwood. A guy came up to me like this, huh?

00:24:03

Came up.

00:24:05

It wasn't flamenco. It's like South Jersey. So they're fist bump it. They're like, dude came up. He's like, is this your girlfriend? I was like. I was like, no, it's my wife. And he's like, well, let me dance with her. I was like, no. He's like, come on, let me dance with her. I was like, fuck, no. I didn't even say, fuck, no.

00:24:20

I was just like, one no is enough. The second no hands going like this. Ron, you being too nice.

00:24:25

I said, no. And he was like, fuck you. He said, fuck you. Because I wouldn't let him dance with my wife.

00:24:34

It's a sick world out here.

00:24:35

It's a sick world. Cold ass world. This bitter, man. Just being like, I need to dance with that woman. It's like, no, dude, you weirdo. Fuck out of here.

00:24:45

That's the East coast type shit, though, I ain't gonna lie. East coast muffler. They got balls on them. But y'all east coast motherfuckers. Y'all to say anything?

00:24:52

No, this is.

00:24:53

That's your mom.

00:24:54

Fucking hot.

00:24:55

Bro, like, damn, bro, like. Like, relax, Stifler. Damn.

00:25:03

That's crazy. Very interesting. Very interesting time. So, over the next couple weeks, there's nothing that could happen that could make you say, hey, I want to take a step back and maybe chill in Greece or Bulgaria for a little bit.

00:25:17

But the team is. The team is doing that. Right. You know, they're creating all type of precautions to make sure. Okay, cool. They're giving us options, you know? So the team is doing that. They're doing a hell of a job with that, too.

00:25:31

And do you have a guy on the team who's a local guy, an israeli guy, who you really talk to a lot, and he'll be your kind of touchstone, where it's like, hey, if this bro is saying he wants to get the fuck out of here, then I'm going to get the fuck out of here.

00:25:45

Yeah, of course. My relationship with Israelis, right, especially teammates in the past, like, I played with probably one of the best israeli basketball players ever, Amri Caspi. You know? And it was a time where Amri, every time summertime hit, Omri get big plane. He get 1520 NBA guys, and he. They fly to Tel Aviv. You know, this. I don't know, six, seven years ago, you know, and I have another teammate, yo, Tom Harper, in, who's really, really big in the community and Tel Aviv. So I got them on speed. Like, yo, I'm cool. Like Pat. Hell, yeah, you cool? You know, so I don't think they lead me straight. That's just like them calling me, yo, Pat, I'm in Chicago. Am I cool? Yeah, you cool, but don't go over there. But you cool if you hear, though, you type shit. You know what I'm saying? So, you know, I just listen to.

00:26:39

Yo, Tom and Omari.

00:26:41

Yeah. I just listen to people that's, you know, and then obviously, my new teammates I have now, you know, cap, you know, I got two captains of the national team, you know, on the team. So I'm able to, you know, the bounce, you know, information and knowledge off both of those guys. Like, yo, I'm cool. I'm cool. Like, I'm cool. So they said I'm cool, I'm cool. I don't think they'll lead me astray, but my thing is. Damn, that's like, the war is awful for both sides. You know what I'm saying? Like, war is awful. Wars. War is God awful. You know, you don't want to have conversations about, you know, 100 5200 missiles being shot at. You and y'all family's cool, and it's going to be retaliation back. And am I cool? Should I, you know, like, you don't want to have to live like that, but, you know, it's war everywhere. Wrong. Promise you, it's war everywhere, bro. It's small wars, big wars. It's. Cali is wild. Chicago is wild. Like, I can. I can name some places in the states where it's a complete war zone that no one ever talks about.

00:27:54

And kids just die. Literally just die. And they don't even make the news. Wrong. In Philly, they don't even make the news. No one even talks about them. Like, it was like watching a movie when we growed up in Chicago, all in front of the tv watching Channel nine news. Oh, the deaf here, deaf here. Kids shot here, man shot here, deaf here. It was like a rated r movie, like Dan, and even mentioned the homie that died on other block. Damn, he didn't even make the news. Like, no one knows about, you know? So, like, for me, it's wars everywhere. You feel me? It's just. You feel me? Like, it's only war if people talk about it, though. That's the funny thing. You know, it's wars everywhere, though, especially where I'm from. For me, it just hit a little different, that's all.

00:28:45

So you talk to the guys who are from your neighborhood. You talk to Negro. Roberta. Talk to the fellows. You talk to.

00:28:52

I get inside of your bitch ass. Man, you. Man, you only got shot in the leg. Stop crying like it's a norm. Man. He ain't, man, he got hit. He only got hit three times. Man. He got hit in the arm one time, hitting the leg one time, hitting the. Hitting the side one time, man, he cool. The norm. Got a homie shot 14 times. Go to holding his arm in place because this shit broke. Go to a lady house. Who, hey, can you please, ma'am. Shot the fuck up 14 times. Blood everywhere. Please, can you do me a favor? Could you call the ambulance? I'm losing. I'm losing breath. Lady falls out at the door. Feel me? I got homies that got get cut open like pig, like pig. Don't make news. Don't nobody talk about. There's war everywhere.

00:29:45

What's the best way to slow down the violence on a macro sense? What are the things that could lead us away from war?

00:29:52

Leadership, money, guidance, education. But you talking about your homie get smoked. His kid grow up and the guy who smokes your homie, kid grow up and they beefing. So we talking about generational beef. You know what I'm saying? Hey, man, you know, that's the. His dad smoked your dad. How you stop that?

00:30:31

That's probably similar to this situation that.

00:30:34

Don'T nobody even talk about this. The shit that people don't even talk about in the States. You feel me? Like in the States, what you do, your cousin gets smoked. You know who smoked and what you do?

00:30:46

Yeah, you have to think street rules.

00:30:49

What you call the police ain't street rules. Street rules like the Old Testament. Eye for an eye. Not saying it's fair, not saying it's right. But that's the street rules. What you do? What you do, somebody who raised you, you see them get smoked, broad daylight, what you do, you remember the face of the person who smoked them. It's getting crazy now. What you do? Motherfuckers shooting at somebody, they make a mistake, hit your mama. What you do? You count on the justice system that's overpopulated. It ain't really catching nobody. What you do, these are the decisions that 13 and 14 and 15 and 16 year olds have to deal with every single day. Dog in Chicago, and that's just Chicago. They ain't even Philly New York, Miami, parts in Florida, you know what I'm saying? Parts in Cali, like, that ain't even, that's just in Chicago. My stories feeling. That ain't even everywhere, man. It's war everywhere, dog. It's sad. It's war everywhere.

00:31:53

But I'm sure. I'm sure there's people in the, in the Middle east that have the same. That in your specific region that are going through literally the exact same thing. Maybe they lost their parents or something like that and they're radicalized to one side or you feel strongly about one side.

00:32:08

And so this is how you look at it, right? This is how you look at it. What's your perspective of war? Because there's war every. Everywhere.

00:32:18

Well, I hope you stay safe, bro.

00:32:20

No, for sure. You know, I'm good.

00:32:23

You want to talk about basketball?

00:32:25

Yeah, of course.

00:32:28

All right, guys, let's take a second and talk about draft kings tdem taking it to the house in for six, whatever you call them. Well, touchdowns. Well, that's, that's, that's. There's one thing for sure about them, okay? No matter what you're doing, they're going to mean more for you. Over at DraftKings sportsbook, the official sportsbook, partner of the NFL, on the ground, in the air, from the special teams or defense, we don't care how you score, and we just want to bet on touchdowns. And DraftKings sportsbook is delivering. Ready to place your bet? Try betting on something simple, like picking a player to score a touchdown or how many touchdowns will be be scored in a game. Go to the DraftKings sportsbook app and make your pick today. I'm going Nico Collins this week. Nico Collins. Feed him. This dude is a beast. He's different. Receiver, one receiver, one a. Maybe most underrated in the league, absolute, absolute beast. Ready to do a touchdown dance of your own. New DraftKings customers can bet dollar five on and get dollar 200 in bonus bets instantly. Ooh, that's a good deal. I know that for a fact.

00:33:32

Score big with DraftKings sportsbook, the number one place to bet touchdowns. Down the draft King Sportsbook app and use code roan. That's right, code roan. For new customers to get up to $200 in bonus bets when you bet just $5 only on draftkings, the crown is yours. It's just so good. Crazy. I keep hearing sirens here in New York. I'm like, are the sirens on my end or are they on your end? I keep on taking off one of my headphones to be like, is this here?

00:33:57

Motherfucker showed me. Hey, Pat, check this out. Smoke everywhere. Like a motherfucker. Smoke everywhere. I. Damn, what the fuck going on in Cal? The fuck going on in Cali, man? Damn, Pat, man. You in telling you in Israel, you cool? Yeah, I'm cool, man. Such and such just got shot last night. Damn. Like war is everywhere. Sad. It's not, right?

00:34:23

Let's hit some of these headlines. I heard you talk a little bit about this trade. I want to hear from the horse's mouth. Cat traded to the New York Knicks and.

00:34:31

Yeah, helps the Knicks.

00:34:34

Helps the Knicks because they get spacing.

00:34:38

At the five position. And it's something about Kat. When he plays other fives, he always shows up. He plays Joel Embiid. He show up. I was on the court with him. He played Jokic in a playoff. Showed up. Showed up. He show up. And he shoot 43 from the top of the key from three. All that penetrating and kick that Bronson doing all that defense and transition, and you got cat coming back as a trailer. I like it for the Knicks. I don't like it for Minnesota.

00:35:10

I was going to ask.

00:35:11

I don't think that. And they said it was because of money, right? Which they said, yeah, because I didn't know the entire story. They said it was because of money that they wouldn't be able to keep everybody because of kat's contract. And that's the thing that, like, that's the thing that fans have to understand. If it's about money because of a trade, then don't harp on players who, the superstars who leave team because of money, you know, because teams make it a business. But when players understand the business and they make their decisions off business, the fans, the casual fans, oh, fuck that guy. They burn jerseys. They do this, they do that. But it's all the business. You know what I'm saying? Like, you don't see no fan trying to burn no motherfucking arena down because somebody, a GM, didn't trade them all. But if a player decides to go somewhere else for some more money, it's all, fuck that guy. This, this, that, that. You know, you just have to understand the business side of it.

00:36:17

And so the west, in your contention.

00:36:18

Is faster, stronger, bigger, faster, fast as.

00:36:25

Last punk over here.

00:36:27

Yeah, fast as last, though. Like, Minnesota's just.

00:36:34

But here's my thing with Minnesota. Here's my thing. If Minnesota wanted to.

00:36:40

Coaching is greater. Minnesota coaching is incredible. He'll figure it out.

00:36:43

If they wanted to just pay ant and cat, they would be able to.

00:36:48

But you heard about Nas Reid and Jaden McDaniels.

00:36:51

I agree.

00:36:53

You talking about the future too? You talking about guys who are 22, 23, 24 years old too. So, like, obviously. And the president, Tim McConnell, he's done a hell of a job. Like, he put Denver together. You know, he just put a team who just beat the champs together. So, you know, I know they're gonna, you know, make it work and how to make it work. But I'm just saying, like, strictly off, like, what's on the roster. I think the spacing is for ant. You know, I think it opens up Nasree, you know? But I don't think you can replace car Anthony Towns. That's all I'm saying at all.

00:37:29

And I think especially his skillset, his.

00:37:32

Basement wise, what made them successful, you know? Like, who you start? You start Julius Randall, you start Nasree. You know what I'm saying? Like, how does, how does Devon Chinzo work with Joe Ingalls, Mike Conley?

00:37:49

I mean, they just drafted the rookie too.

00:37:52

Gilders, Alexander, like, you know, like, who has success?

00:37:55

Like Alexander Walker.

00:37:57

Alexander Walker. My badgest Alexander. How does all that work towards each other? You know, and, and, and you're in the west, like, you're in the west, like on a bad night. Shit. The HC was Phoenix Suns. You feel me? Like playing was motherfucker. The Lakers, you know, like, you know what I'm saying? Like the competition is at the guard. Players is really, really high. So, you know, I'm, you know, and you need shooting in the west. You need shooting in the west. Everyone knows that. Like, you can't burn it as a team. Like, you just. We talking about a team. Minnesota, two possessions from going to the NBA championship round against the Celtics. You know what I'm saying? I don't. I don't know yet. You know, I don't know yet. I don't. I don't know. Give given numbers off percentages from three. You don't know what you gonna do with Julius Randall? I just don't know how spacing looks for ant. Cause if I'm a coach, man, put somebody in the gap. He gotta beat us. Yeah, he gotta shoot. He gotta shoot ten threes and he gotta make six of em, five of em, four of emerald to beat us.

00:39:19

You'll be double teaming that. It's a lot of pressure on Rudy now, offensively and defensively. Tell me another seven footer to cat. Seven footer. You know what I'm saying? So it gives Nas, Nas, Reed, a chance to, you know, they telling you that they have a lot of faith in Nasree. You know, so it's give Nas Reed a chance to kind of step into a role. But I. You have faith in Nasree, but don't overpay him. So now it looked like you got Nasree for the low. Cause you're making a business decision. You know what I'm saying?

00:39:57

But at the same time, are you bringing it? Julius Randall off the bench, though, he's a 25 point a game guy.

00:40:03

I don't know. He ain't played. He ain't played a while. So we don't know. Especially with bench, you know, we don't know. We don't know what fence. Fence will roll out. Finch. A fucking rollout up. Joe Ingalls, Julia Ego, Mike Conley, Joe Ingalls, Rudy Nasri, Jake McDaniels. And, like, he'll go crazy lineup. You know what I'm saying? So we just don't know.

00:40:26

It's so interesting that ant is.

00:40:28

I do like Joe Angles for them, though.

00:40:31

Oh, talk to me.

00:40:32

I like Joe Angels for them. I like Joe Angles, his toughness, his space in him running pick and roll with Rudy. I like Joe Ingalls for them. It's just, you know, you just gotta see how you go. You know, how you go plug everything in the Dante G. Vincenzo's and Julius Randall.

00:40:45

So if you ran the Timberwolves, would you ask ant what he wanted before this trade happens?

00:40:51

I don't think you. I mean, I don't think you even open that door. It's a players league, right? At the same time, coaches have to coach those players, too. So I don't really think it's what the player wants at the time. I think it's what's good for the team now in the future.

00:41:16

Interesting.

00:41:17

You think once you open it. Once you open that door and it don't go right, then what you do next? You ask next, motherfucker. Or you do the opposite of what you just did. Like, you know, you don't want to open that door.

00:41:27

Is ant the top five player in the league this year?

00:41:30

I believe so. Top five. Top, top five. Yeah. Yeah.

00:41:40

Well, the rest of the top five probably get asked. And b would get asked.

00:41:48

Yes.

00:41:49

Freak would get asked.

00:41:52

Yes.

00:41:52

Joker would get asked.

00:41:54

That's.

00:41:57

Luca. I mean, maybe Luca.

00:42:00

Yes.

00:42:00

Maybe Lebron, kibble, fear.

00:42:03

And too, though. That's why, you know, I put ant, you know, top five, top six, top seven. You know, I put him. For sure. Top, top seven. For sure. People fear him and he ain't scared to go at anybody. Anybody, you know? And that's what makes. He's fearless and that's what makes him an elite basketball player. He's not afraid to go at the old heads. He's not afraid to do it. And the young guys are afraid of him. You know what I'm saying? So, like, that's what makes him an elite basketball player.

00:42:32

I think that Julius Randall will help with ants fearlessness as well. He wasn't scared when Kevin Garnett was trying to bully him when he was a rookie on the Lakers. There's a famous clip where he's kind of ball.

00:42:45

Julius Randall, can whoever progressed? Yeah, he's never been a guy who can hoop. He averaged a double dope 20 and whatever, you know what I'm saying? So everybody know he can hoop. It's just, you know, different systems, that's all. There's just different systems.

00:43:03

While we're on ant, should we get into our new Amsterdam starting five shooting guards. Best shooting guards in the NBA, presented by the best vodka on earth. New Amsterdam vodka five times filtered, three times distilled. The stuff flows from the top of Mount Olympus. And the gods themselves used to drink from the teeth of mother New Amsterdam because that's the way that the legend was formed. And so, to this day, the exact same recipe has been passed down from generation to generation. Each gulp more refreshing than the last. But not as refreshing as the next gulp is about to be. Because New Amsterdam vodka has figured out some kind of chemical formula that tickles the part of your brain that is the power and pain receptors at the same time giving you this unbelievable elixir of life that is just going to give you an amazing time. Should we talk about that? New Amsterdam starting five shooting guards. Should we talk about that now?

00:43:56

I think you just talked all about it. You just bodied that shit. I want to get drunk.

00:44:00

They don't even. I mean, they don't even give me a script anymore. They say, hey, you know how to talk about us. It's like I'm.

00:44:06

I want some new Amsterdam now.

00:44:08

Yeah, throw me that bottle. Throw me that bottle in New Amsterdam.

00:44:11

Yeah, I want some now. Oh, my goodness.

00:44:16

No, I keep it on me. Shout out to Sean, I'm back. I'm back. I wish I could throw it through the screen to you.

00:44:34

I catch that motherfucker. I hit it with you fucking time.

00:44:37

I just smash a camera. New Edward starting five.

00:44:44

Anthony Edwards is definitely in there. Chris Middleton is definitely in there. Paul George is definitely in there.

00:44:50

Interesting.

00:44:51

That's my three so far.

00:44:53

Those are three twos, not two threes, but in any zone that we're in, those guys are playing.

00:44:59

Um.

00:45:02

Here'S where it's interesting. Here's where gets interesting.

00:45:05

This is when it gets wild. This is when it gets wild. So.

00:45:18

Take your time. This is for New Amsterdam.

00:45:20

Demar Derozan's in there currently. Hell yeah, Muff. I got 20,000, almost. How many points? Almost 20,000 points. No. What do you got? 20,000 points? No threes. Some crazy shit. No threes. When you only shoot threes at the interesting.

00:45:38

Okay, so Deroza makes it Paul George and along with ant. And who's your other one?

00:45:45

Chris Middleton.

00:45:46

Middleton.

00:45:49

I got one spot.

00:45:51

You want me to throw names at you and you pick?

00:45:54

Yeah, throw me three names.

00:45:56

Devin Booker, Donovan Mitchell, Derek White.

00:46:02

Book, book, book.

00:46:07

And then right below that, Jalen Green, Desmond Bain, Zach Levine.

00:46:12

That's enough.

00:46:15

Who's closest to making the fifth spot, Donovan Mitchell or Derek White? Donovan Mitchell, but he does, he's not quite there.

00:46:25

He's there just. You only asked for five, though.

00:46:28

I only asked for five. And what sets these five apart? What common skill do they have?

00:46:32

Uh, they all won at the high level at some point in time in their career. All of them. And young. Western conference finals. Book finals. Paul George, Western Conference finals without Kawhi.

00:46:58

Middleton, champ de Rose.

00:47:07

I mean, he do everything midi. Midi. Like, elite Midi, like elite shooting guard midi. So I like that foul.

00:47:15

Are you watching. Are you watching movies out there? Like, what do you do between basketball beach and bombs?

00:47:23

Well, again, I haven't, I don't know why. You said he trying to put the bombs on me. Wrong.

00:47:27

I'm not trying to put the bombs on you. That's a whole other country.

00:47:30

I know, but you keep saying that. I ain't saying one bomb wrong. I heard one bomb wrong. I ain't even been to the safe room. You know, I want to get that clear. I've never, I've never since I've been here, I personally never been in the safe room. Like, oh, shit, let me close the door.

00:47:46

Only bombs are when Lil Sasquatch tries to do standup comedy, bro.

00:47:49

Say less. So, um, shit, a lot of body work, you know, I'm 36, you know, I gotta. You feel me? I gotta stay limber and stay, and stay in the mobility. Gotta stay tight. I'm at the beach about five, 6 hours a day.

00:48:06

No movies.

00:48:08

I started the monsters tv show. Her Mendez brothers.

00:48:13

Yeah. How was it the Menendez brothers.

00:48:16

Yeah. And I said I started sopranos. I met like season one, episode five. So I got a thousand of those to go. Yeah, well, yeah, that's, you know, I'm at the classic power, you know. Really, you know, I'm like, I ain't really doing shit. I'm like, I'm reading, reading a ton.

00:48:29

I'm like, taking your time?

00:48:32

Yeah, cool. A lot of facetimes, a lot of on the phone, a lot with the kids, a lot of on the phone, a lot with, you know, loved ones. You know, that takes up, I don't know, two, 3 hours out the day.

00:48:44

Interesting.

00:48:45

Bank is going through a thing right now wrong. I think you need to talk some sense into him because you're his uncle. I get a call today while I'm at the airport, on my way flying to Tel Aviv, I get a call his mom. Hey, Pat. Yes, ma'am. I have Eliza's teacher on the phone. You have time? Yes, I have time. I have to go straight.

00:49:06

The business dad voice.

00:49:09

Hello? First voice I hear his. Hey, dad. Up, son, how are you? What's going on? All of a sudden, he. When he's in trouble, for some reason.

00:49:24

His words don't understand.

00:49:25

Oh, my goodness. It takes twelve minutes for him to finish the motherfucking sentence. So, yeah, dad, my teacher back was turning and we were throwing paper balls. I hear his mom no, tell him all the truth. Yeah, Elijah and some friends were, you know, every time the teacher turned his back, they were playing volleyball with paper balls. I'm like, okay, son, I thought we literally just had this conversation. Like, I feel like every episode I'm talking about Spank.

00:49:58

We gotta get him on. Beyond scared straight.

00:50:01

No, I'm cool. We ain't going that far. I know my son straight. I'm cool. I'm gonna be in that bitch. You stop playing. I don't play that. Yeah, nobody touching him, yelling at him, doing none of that. I can, I got him.

00:50:15

You don't want me to go down, I'll do beyond scared straight on him. I can't do just beyond scared straight.

00:50:19

You can just take him out to a nice little lunch and pick his brain a little bit. I don't need nobody to scare my son. I appreciate it, though.

00:50:26

I'll fly. Maybe I'll fly him up to New York and we'll go to like, you know what I mean? Central park, feed the geese and like, talk about life like that.

00:50:34

Yeah, that's cool. I like. I like walks, I like talks. Ain't nobody scared my son.

00:50:39

Yeah.

00:50:39

I do all the scaring. That's enough. Yeah, nobody.

00:50:42

They scare your son, you go scare.

00:50:43

Them and they son. Yeah. Yeah. I keep it going. Yeah. So. But now, hoops been cool, though. We just. We just won our first game in the Euro cup.

00:50:56

That's big.

00:50:57

I had like eleven points in the fourth quarter. You know, if you.

00:51:01

I saw the highlights. I was 16, six and 614.

00:51:04

Six and six. I'm averaging like 14, six and five right now, shooting 50% from three. I shot 16 threes in two games.

00:51:11

Does that feel good? He's loving it.

00:51:16

Getting the ball and be like, bring him.

00:51:19

There's 80, 80 on the one. Like, the one I saw was 80 80, and you're like, yeah, go ahead.

00:51:27

Go ahead, take over this game. You know. Yeah. So, yes. Vibes been good. Vibes been high.

00:51:32

But also driving kick, too. You know, not just posting mid post. Mid post. Post is nice.

00:51:38

Yeah. Oh, yeah.

00:51:39

The highlight tape looks robust at 1212 assists this season.

00:51:44

Four turnovers, 16 threes, eight for 16, I think 50, 40, 90, averaging 14, six and five.

00:51:53

Pretty good. Pretty damn good. Gotta be excited about that. Now. I know why you're not going home now. You should have just said, I'm averaging 616, five and six, or whatever. 14, five and six.

00:52:05

Now I'm hoping. I'm hoping life is good.

00:52:10

Damn. That's. That's a. You got to feel excited about that. I saw a story about the bucks. They said that they think that they're getting overlooked this year because they don't have a Christmas day game. Just spend Christmas with your family. Enjoy yourself. Like, is it that big of a deal to not have a Christmas day game?

00:52:27

You know, you gotta hide greek. On that Christmas. That Christmas day game.

00:52:31

It's the first time since 17 that he's not on, I think, or something.

00:52:34

They just trying to do that. They trying to slander doc. I don't know. I seen some coaching rankings. They had doc 22, dog, almost through my motherfucking phone, dog. This man, Steele Jackson is Doc Rivers. Man, they gotta put more respect on my coach name. They got to. They got to, bro. It's getting, like, disrespectful. They wouldn't do Phil Jackson like that. Like, why are they doing doc like that? It's wild. That's why. It's really wild.

00:52:59

In the same story, I saw that dame Lillard said that the bucks are going to get the real version of him this year.

00:53:05

You know, he was kind of banged up last season. Try to play through it. So, you know, you know, healthy season, healthy summer, always, you know, take your game to another level. So I'm going to.

00:53:14

Bucks didn't get the real version of him last year.

00:53:16

I'm gonna say the real. You just banged up. You know, he was dealing with some tough shit, man. You know, half or his achilles, some shit like that. And that's always tough, you know? Yes, your wheels, if you got a, you know, half a wheel and you trying to put 30 on the motherfucker head, and somebody picking you up full quarters, always gonna be tough, you know, I'm saying, so I don't think they got the best dame at all.

00:53:36

So hopefully he'll be. He'll be more locked in and mentally, physically healthy.

00:53:41

Yeah, healthier. That's all.

00:53:43

The Lakers had a meeting before the season started where JJ Reddick took everybody to a hotel and said, this is what the game plan is going to be. I don't even want to waste time during the first practice.

00:53:56

He's going to be a great coach. I said it once. I said again, he's going to be a great coach. Great coach. Getting the roles in order. I'm only playing nine people. Hey, hey. Everybody else, get your development ready. Get your mind ready. You get a chance. If somebody get hurt, you got a chance to step up. I'm going nine, motherfuckers. This my starting five. Let's roll.

00:54:17

What's the nine, do you think? Give me a prediction. Lakers starting five.

00:54:22

So the five is Dlo, Reeves, Rui Braun, ad Vando, Gabe Vincent. Who else am I missing?

00:54:41

Well, that. This is where it gets the question marks pop up. Is it the rookie Dalton Connect from.

00:54:48

No, that's not named rookies. That's not named rookies right now. That just name people that were on the roster last year. That's on the roster now.

00:54:53

So if we're going nine, I mean, is Jackson Hayes still on the roster? Who else they had? I'm trying to think if it's other big men because they have a d. I mean, let's pull up.

00:55:13

Pull it up.

00:55:15

Why not rookies? What about brawny? Oh, Christie? Max Christie didn't even pull it up for that one. He's got to be on it right out of five, he's everything.

00:55:24

Like, you can't even put him in comparison with other people. He's the best player in NBA next year.

00:55:29

Yeah, but then he's a center. What are you talking about?

00:55:31

So what position? Center. Who shoots threes and why? Every time I open my phone, I see us?

00:55:36

I don't know. It doesn't make any sense to me.

00:55:40

I think it might be a surprise, though, the last two, obviously.

00:55:44

So you don't think Max Christie.

00:55:45

I think Jackson Hayes is in there, right?

00:55:48

Jackson hate cam. Reddish Christian, wooden.

00:55:53

I think Jackson Hayes is in there, right? I don't know. I don't know who that last person is.

00:55:57

Jalen Hood, Shafino. How many. You think that. How soon would you start playing brawny if you were JJ Reddick?

00:56:08

I mean, a lot of coaches believe in the G League. I believe in the G League. I spent some time there, so I think that's what, you know, I think that's where you go get his development at the.

00:56:19

Did you see that? Our brother from the Houston Rockets has left the NBA.

00:56:23

Yeah. Follow Jesus. I ain't mad at that.

00:56:28

That's kind of. I mean, he's 21 years old, not crazy. You see, I stopped myself.

00:56:34

I know you did. It's nothing wrong with that. Nothing wrong with that.

00:56:37

AJ Griffin has left the NBA at 21, and his dad was on a fab. I wonder if that plays into it.

00:56:45

No. He gave us why. We just have to honor and respect, and I like it. I commented on that. That's respect. That's tough. That's so tough to me. That's so tough. Turn down millions of dollars to, like for ministry. It's tough. Your dream, everything you work for your whole life to chase God. There's nothing wrong with that. That's tough. I respect that.

00:57:07

Could he use that money for ministry?

00:57:10

Yeah, but you chase ministry money. Come love, come aim a come. Anything you want in life will come. You chase ministry. That's just how it goes.

00:57:21

Dikembe Mutombo passed away. Rest in peace, his sweet soul. December Macambo. Jean Jacques Matumbo, absolute legend. I gotta say his whole name. If we're gonna be putting respect on his name, we'll put respect on the whole thing. Dikembe matumbo. Maplanda macumba. Jean Jacques wa matumbo. Rest in peace, my bro.

00:57:45

No, no, no. Not today.

00:57:47

No, no, no. When he got traded from the Atlanta hawks to the Philadelphia 76 ers, he gave the greater Philadelphia area something so rare that it was intoxicating, like a drug. He gave us hope. He gave us hope that we'd be able to go against Shaq, that we'd be able to go against Kobe, that we would have a big man that could go and bang bodies with the biggest and baddest dude of all time. And you know what? Game one we got them. And that was thanks to the Kembe Mutombo. Incredible playoff series he gave Philly against the Raptors. Incredible playoff series he gave us against the Bucks. He went up against the Lakers, and he got Philly as close as they've been in my lifetime. He and Iverson. Aaron McKee, he. Four time. Four time defensive player of the year. Denver Nuggets put on his back. Atlanta Hawks put on his back. The Philadelphia 76. Ers put on his back. This man was doing commercials. He was bringing basketball to Africa, and.

00:58:56

He was putting on, he was putting on. He was giving back. He was. He inspired. Like, he. He inspired a whole generation of people from Africa. It'd be like if he did it. I can do. He opened that door, man. Rest in peace, mutumbo.

00:59:11

And waving a finger in somebody's face is so fucking swag.

00:59:17

People still do it now.

00:59:18

Yeah. They had to make the rule that you can't do it in someone's face because he was literally shitting on people's lives.

00:59:27

No, Mutambo. No, no, no.

00:59:30

He was not. You did. He was incredible, man. Gone too soon. But his impact is so great. I think it takes such confidence in yourself to go to a different country, still swat someone's fucking shot, and then create a whole new thing that will last.

00:59:50

People still do it now.

00:59:51

Yeah. A wave this man put on. So shout out to Matumbo, man. I love that dude as a player. He was so awesome, and he seems like a really great guy. Seemed like he was funny, could take. Wouldn't take himself too seriously. The stories I would hear about him at Georgetown, at the parties, I shouldn't even say. He's a legend.

01:00:15

He's a legend. Let's keep it right there. Wrong. You know, you know, you like to go a little bit, too.

01:00:19

He's a legend, bro. He's a legend on every sense of the word. He was a legend. Guys, we're about to get into talking about our MVP of the week, one mister Derrick Rose and incredible career that he had. But first, let's talk about our MVP segment and who it's brought to you by. And that's the good folks over at body armor sports. Water, the alkaline water that provides real hydration with electrolytes for taste. And, I mean, the electrolytes are working overtime in my body armor, because if they're just coming for taste, they're coming back with a little bit of hydration, high level hydration. There's something about the body armor that as soon as it hits your lips, you feel the revitalization. A pure water that tastes great, but is also going to give you that next level performance boost that you can only get from the pure electrolytes that it's drizzling into your body. Everybody's always drinking it around the office. The sports drink, zero sugar, even the flash iv. After a long weekend, none of us can get enough body armor. The sport water, in my opinion, best water in the market. And I'll just say that right now, and I'll look you dead in the camera, as I say, because you know it's true.

01:01:29

Head on over to your local 711 and get your body armor. Sports water today. So we lost Matumbo. I also saw, I mean. I mean, Derek Rose is still with us, but I saw you commenting on that as well.

01:01:45

That hurt wrong. Tell me why that hurt, bro. I ain't gonna lie. That hurt me. That hurt me. I feel like. I feel like I. I feel like I lost somebody so important to me. Brian, go lie. I ain't gonna lie, bro. Like, you gotta think, man. This man been balanced. High school, man. My mama know him. I gotta young getting arguments, you know, with my girl. I leave the house, I go to his house. I need a car. Had go in the garage. Take mine. Feel me? Like his girl flying early. He not there yet. Come to the crib. Like, I'm talking about a brother. Like, when it happened, dog, it happened. It felt like. Like it didn't feel real. It felt like I lost some. No lie. No lie. I got called. Called his homies like. No, they call him Pat. Like, no, fuck that. Fuck that. No, man. No, fuck that, man. No, this ain't how the story end. No, no, they call him Pat. I fuck that. No, I was hurt. Still hurt, man. Me and this man used to battle, dog every single day. I'm talking about after school dunking.

01:03:13

He don't want to dunk cause he's so shy. I'm talking about, like the coolest dude, man, to give you anything you want, bro. Anything I ever wanted, bro. Anything. Pat, you need someone to stay. Got you, Pat, you need car. Got you. Pat, you need this. Got you. Pat, you and Cali. Cool. Come on, come to the crib. I got you. Like, his whole crew, like, our crews together. Like, it's.

01:03:43

Real chicago, dude.

01:03:44

I'm talking about real Chicago shit. I'm talking about shit that you can't even put in words. Like.

01:03:54

Last of the Mohegans, us both born in 88.

01:04:00

Last of the Mohegans, us two, like, so, like, for me to still be doing this and him, you know, like, it show you how far we both came. But, like.

01:04:11

When did you first hear about Derrick Rose?

01:04:14

I opened up my phone. Twitter. I opened up my phone.

01:04:16

No, no, no. I'm saying when it first, like, growing up.

01:04:23

6Th grade.

01:04:24

6Th grade.

01:04:25

Yeah, we've been locked in.

01:04:26

What did you hear about him in 6th grade before you met him or you saw him the first time?

01:04:31

He was a guy named Calvin Brock. He played for Simeon. He was really. He was really good. A light skinned cat. And. And it was a younger guy coming up named Derrick Rose. And in Chicago at the time, it was a guy named John Shire, who's a coach at Duke, currently Glenbrook north. Yep. It was a guy named Sharon Collins who went to Kansas, won a championship. It was a guy named Jerome Randall. It was a guy named D. Rose, and it was a guy named Patrick Beverly, in that order, too. But D. Rose, it was like, John Shire, Derrick Rhodes, Sharon Collins, Jerome Randall. Then me. Out of that whole crew, only two of us went to the NBA, you know what I'm saying? So, like, that whole fraternity, we had, like, we was trying to do some Illinois shit, like, with D. Brown and Luther head and those guys. Did everybody go to. Yeah, we was trying to do that shit. You know what I'm saying? So from that crew, you know, you knew everybody from 7th, 8th grade. Like, you know, like, I came on the scene a little later in high school, but, like, you knew of everybody since 7th, 8th grade.

01:05:48

So, like, it's just the fact that, like, I'm only one left still hooping out the crew, it makes you think, like, damn, I'm next.

01:06:02

Well, no one else is. It doesn't have to be now, but what else is next?

01:06:08

That's what hurt me. Like, my mom was like, damn, poo. Like, my cousins was the homies. Like, didn't see that one coming. Didn't see that one coming. I was looking forward to see my man hoop in Memphis this year. Then they say waves. I'm like, oh, yeah, he about to go back to the bulls. It's about to be lit, and now it's retirement. Damn, I hurt the body there. That one hurt.

01:06:34

He had such a good second chapter after his injury to be able to revive his career, his viability to be a legitimate player. It's a testament to how hard he works and how he is.

01:06:47

Yeah, he's so cold. He cold. I ain't never seen him all fuck like him, man.

01:06:53

Imagine if he never got hurt, maybe.

01:06:56

We can, but we still appreciate him. That's usually what happens. People who don't get hurt, they go through the world and people forget about them. They stop appreciating. They start criticizing them. Westbrook ain't been hurt. Westbrook been two time mvp, average tripled over two seasons. We appreciate them. No, what if he wasn't here? We would have, though.

01:07:18

They underpay him and they call him.

01:07:19

Westbrook, you know I'm saying type shit. So, like, I like to look at it both sides of the fence.

01:07:26

Braun to never hurt, most hated.

01:07:31

I'm saying most hate it. But if he get hurt and he almost get it, then it's the what if. You know what I'm saying? So, you know, that's just how the world is fucked up.

01:07:40

That's how the world is. Devastating. Ben Simmons coming out with some new workout tapes.

01:07:47

Ben Simmons trying to hear that shit. Ain't nobody trying to hear that shit. I ain't trying to hear that shit. I'm over here and I ain't trying to hear that shit. I ain't trying to hear that shit. No, you got to show us, buddy. And you got to show us what? At least 60 something games, buddy. We ain't on that. I ain't trying to hear that shit. No, no more talking. No videos on the court. I need to see it.

01:08:10

He was like, people forgot I was a pretty good basketball player, right?

01:08:14

Yeah, I forgot that corny ass shit you told me that day. Yeah, they must be booing you, corny ass nigga. Man, fuck out of here. Like, nah, man, fuck out of here. Nah, I ain't rolling, Ben. I ain't rolling. You gotta show me, buddy. But when he play, he be hooping. He's just gotta play. And he can't be ducking that smoke. He can't be ducking that smoke. If the lights get big, you got to get big with the lights. Can't be ducking that shit. Motherfucker leave you open. I ain't saying shoot ten threes. I ain't saying shoot threes all the time, but motherfucker impact the game.

01:08:48

What a lot to shoot threes. Pet B type of shit. Type of shit. We want to talk some. You want to talk about some x factors or should we leave that for the next one?

01:08:59

Next episode? How long we've been going?

01:09:01

How long we've been going? Hour and a half. Hour and a half. All right, we'll leave it for the next one. Happy or safe? Pat? Bev.

01:09:13

I looked out my window brother.

01:09:18

Oh, shit. Pool looks sick. High ceilings. Get some artwork up there, bro. What the fuck I do?

01:09:28

I got the plaque. What you talking about?

01:09:33

No, bro, you need some paintings. You need to get some.

01:09:36

You want to see?

01:09:38

You better take us to the room.

01:09:41

They're like four levels in this bitch. So the crib. Fat.

01:09:47

Spiral staircase. Only time you spiraling.

01:09:51

01:10:06

That's the sign of a good panic room.

01:10:09

01:10:11

This only time you get lifted, though. Was that another plaque? It looked like the previous owners YouTube plaque. Okay, bathroom next to bathroom. That's just a little bonus bathroom.

01:10:25

That look like a safe room. Door donor.

01:10:28

That's what that is.

01:10:30

I'm like, Dan, that's another one down here. I got, like.

01:10:32

Yeah, we got a safe suite.

01:10:37

Hey. Hey. You funny as hell. Yeah, I get another little room down here that's safe. Yeah. Yeah. Cool. Say what?

01:10:54

So you just sleep in there? Do they have tv in the safe room? Or you got to read a book or something? Oh, tv. Amazing.

01:11:00

So they got the latches on the door.

01:11:04

What?

01:11:06

Big ass groups on this bitch.

01:11:09

What the fuck? So that's, like, for a big bomber? That's for, like, if someone tries to come to the house. Oh, shit. I thought that was a clock we had. Oh, my God. So when you said you're locked in, you really meant it? Damn.

01:11:30

Yeah. Grill fat, though.

01:11:33

Oh, grapes are beautiful.

01:11:35

Grill dumb fat.

01:11:37

Yeah. Lovely group.

01:11:39

Four floors up here. All the way up.

01:11:43

Has a israeli feel to it.

01:11:47

Yes.

01:11:48

What a blessing to be able to see the world. Traveling the only way you can spend money, but you get richer.

01:11:55

Yeah. Career fat, though, but, yeah.

01:11:57

Okay.

01:11:57

Stay safe.

01:11:59

You stay safe.

01:12:04

That is so this.

01:12:08

Let's go get this man. He's got a plaque. And I'm not talking about what's on his teeth.

01:12:14

We did that. We did that together. Wrong. Ski did that.

01:12:17

And that's only the.

01:12:20

01:12:24

Subscribe to the pod. Get the numbers up. Support. Support. Who's supporting you back?

01:12:34

Why you gotta shoot guns at all? That wasn't shooting guns like a peace sign.

01:12:39

It was missiles.

01:12:45

All right, bro.

01:12:47

Be safe, bro. See you. See you soon.

01:12:51

Now you be safe, my fucking. You in New York and you from Philly. You be safe. I'm safe.
