Have you lost control of the conference?
No, sir. No, sir. We have full control of the conference. This is the same thing we've been doing.
MAGA Mike Johnson has indeed lost control of the House of Representatives, and he has lost control over his own party that just revolted against him. And MAGA Mike Johnson just shut down the House of Representatives until at least July 13th. So at least a 2-week shutdown right now because the MAGA Republicans refused to pass a rule which would allow pieces of legislation and other matters before the House of Representatives to come to the floor. So MAGA Mike Johnson just decided, all right, we're gonna shut down the House of Representatives once again. You had MAGA Republican Congress members like Luna, Miller, Harris, Burchett, Burleson, Roy, Fine, Crane, Spartz, Self, Turner. You had Thomas Massie, Boebert, and Scalise all vote against the rule. And so now the House of Representatives is indeed shut down. Now, Manu Raju was asking MAGA Mike Johnson about just having zero control over the House heading into the midterms as the MAGA Republicans in generic ballots are trailing Democrats somewhere between 10 and 20 points. Watch what MAGA Mike Johnson says to Manu Raju.
Play this clip.
For us to stop our very important progress forward from House Republicans because some Senate Democrats are refusing to do their job. That's where we are. That's the reality of it. This is life with a small margin, small majority, and we'll work through it.
You're going to come back and try to do this?
We're going to do it again.
We're going to do it again. Have you lost control of the conference?
No, sir. No, sir. We have full control of the conference. This is the same thing we've been doing the whole time. We have the smallest margin in U.S. history. We're nearing an election. People get very emotional about things, and sometimes they make irrational decisions. So I don't hold grudges against anybody. I just got to get all the team members back working in the same direction. Same song, different verse, same job.
Has the president been leaning on these guys too? Has the president—
The president's not involved.
No, he's not involved. Does he need to get involved?
I suspect he's going to be very frustrated by this.
Are these— are these members making it harder for you to keep the majority?
No, we're going to win the majority and I'll have a bigger margin and won't have these problems. What do you have to say to these guys?
Then before MAGA Mike Johnson was running away there for Manu Raju, Earlier in the day, before he had to officially shut down the House, Manu Raju was asking MAGA Mike, so Donald Trump now wants you to pass legislation to ban birthright citizenship after the Supreme Court's ruling, which upheld birthright citizenship of the United States Constitution. So MAGA Mike, is that gonna be your priority right now as Donald Trump refuses to sign the housing affordability bill, which was a bipartisan bill Now you're gonna be shutting down the House of Representatives. Your priority was to push a voter suppression bill, and now is it going to be to pass legislation to try to ban birthright citizenship, even though the Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality under the 14th Amendment of birthright citizenship? Watch MAGA Mike Johnson play this clip.
The president posted that it's time for Congress to move to end birthright citizenship and that a constitutional amendment is not necessary. Do you agree with him, and will this be your top priority?
It certainly is time for us to do everything that's possible. I don't know what that is. The opinion just came out. I've been so busy today, I haven't even had a chance to read it yet.
Is this a focus that you want to have in the midterms, to focus to end birthright citizenship?
Look, I think it's clearly an issue that merits the attention of Congress. I don't know what the remedy is, how to define it, or the timeline. Be premature for me to project that. But I will tell you that it's a big concern with the American people because it's been abused. So—
And Tom Kaine, can he run for reelection given the way he handled this and didn't disclose this to his voters?
If someone— let me just say this about Tom Kaine. If someone is going to suggest that he is ineligible to be reelected by a big margin just because he has had to deal with an illness that, as he noted, almost 50 million Americans have dealt with at some time in their life. I think that's a really unfair question. He— I think he addressed it appropriately on the floor. I told him, I sent him a note as soon as he walked off the floor and said, we're in your corner and we're behind you 100%. He has a long service individually and in his family of noble public service to the people of New Jersey. I think his constituents understand that. I think they're going to send a message and send him back and let him continue doing the great work that he's done all these years for his for his constituents.
Should he have disclosed it earlier?
Thanks, guys.
And all MAGA Republicans seem to just be running away from either Manu Raju or from the Midas Touch Network reporters on Capitol Hill. You had MAGA Republican Congress member Tom Keene, who showed up after not being in the House of Representatives since about March without explanation. And then yesterday he said the reason that he hasn't been working is because of depression, he says. And so he didn't show up because of depression, which by the way, it's a serious matter, but he's been not disclosing that since March, raises a lot of red flags. And here he is, MAGA Republican running away from Manu Raju, asking him, why wouldn't you just tell people earlier if it was depression, like back in March? And do you think your constituents should have confidence in you?
Here, play this clip.
Stop it.
Why don't you just address what happened off the bat, uh, when you first were diagnosed with this condition. Is there a reason for not saying right away? Mr. Kane, are you running for reelection? Can you run for reelection? Did your constituents deserve to know earlier?
And then we had all these MAGA Republicans just peacing out, running away. They're on vacation for another 2 weeks now as the House of Representatives is shut down. MAGA Republican Congressmember Grothman ran away from the Midas Touch Network's Pablo Monríquez.
Play this clip.
Congressman, real quick, what are House Republicans doing this week on affordability?
Nothing.
It was funny though.
MAGA Republican Congressmember Gale ran away from the Midas Touch Network. We were just asking him basic questions. The question was this— it wasn't a trick question— what are House Republicans doing this week on affordability? What are you doing on affordability? They run away from us.
Play this clip.
Congressman, real quick, what are House Republicans doing this week for affordability?
Hey, MAGA Republican Congressmember Hearn, What are you doing on affordability?
Play this clip.
Congressman, real quick, what are House Republicans doing this week on affordability? Nothing.
If you're anything like me, a lot of the information you take in every day doesn't come from sitting down and reading a report. It comes from conversations, interviews, meetings, phone calls, and discussions with people who know something you don't. The problem is those conversations move fast, and it's easy to forget an important detail later. That's exactly why I've been using Plaud. Plaud creates these AI-powered wearable devices that help capture, organize, and recall information from real-world conversations and moments. So whether it's an interview, a meeting, a phone call, or just a voice memo, it captures the details while you stay focused on the conversation. Afterward, everything is searchable, organized, and easy to reference. It supports transcription in 112 languages, is trusted by more than 2 million users worldwide, and is built with enterprise-grade privacy and compliance standards. I have the Plaud Notepin SE. Here. It's a small wearable device that follows me throughout the day, so whether I'm preparing for the show, discussing breaking news, or organizing thoughts between recordings, it lets me capture important details without constantly reaching for my phone. It's made my workflow a lot easier because I can stay engaged in the conversation instead of worrying about taking notes, and it even helps me with the basic stuff I'm bad at, like remembering people's names.
Say I'm in a meeting and a lot of people I just met are speaking. It'll organize all the information. I can easily look up who was who, remind myself of action items so I could actually be present in the moment and be sure that none of the information discussed gets away from me because I could always look it up later. And there's a bunch of ways to wear it. There's a magnetic pin, a clip, a lanyard to wear as a necklace like the one I have on now, a wristband. It's super cool and so helpful. If your day is driven by conversations, interviews, analysis, and staying informed, Plaud helps make sure nothing important gets lost. Get up to 20% off with code MIDAS at plaud.ai/midas. That's laud.ai/mitas. M-E-I-D-A-S.
Now, I guess at least MAGA Republican Congressmember Troy Nell stopped to speak with the Midas Touch Network's Pablo Monriquez when the House was officially shut down. As he was leaving to go back home to Texas, he was asked by Pablo Monriquez of the Midas Touch Network, The same question we asked the other people: how do House Republicans make the case that you're fighting for affordability when you go back to your district? Here's what MAGA Republican Congressmember Troy Nells had to say.
Play this clip.
Real quick. How do House Republicans make the case that you're fighting for affordability when you go back to your districts?
Affordability.
We're talking about affordability.
I'm going to go there tomorrow. I'm going to— well, over to Fork. I'm going to give me a couple of lobster tails. I'm gonna get me some nice ribeyes. I'm gonna sit in my backyard with my family, my neighbors, and we're going to be enjoying the Fourth, celebrating 250 years, the birthday. We're going to be celebrating the greatest president my lifetime, Donald J. Trump. Maybe watch some fireworks. Won't be up here, it's gonna be too hot, right? And I'm in bed at 11 o'clock. I heard the fireworks ain't going off till 11 o'clock Eastern on the Fourth of July. I probably have to sleep through that one. But listen, everybody understands you're going to see a little increase in energy prices because of Iran. I mean, come on, people aren't stupid. You realize that when you have a conflict that ran. But I think in the end, the short-term increase in some of the costs of energy, gasoline and stuff, is temporary. But President Trump has made it very clear to these companies, don't be gouging, no price gouging. I mean, energy, what, oil was at $69 the other day, $72 today. I mean, the price has got to come down.
Don't take advantage of the people. American people. To me, it's almost criminal. So we got to do that. We have to do that. And I think that the overall goal and objective is to make sure Iran never has nuclear weapons. So I'm okay with the increase in fuel because you knew it was going to happen with, obviously, with oil and the Strait and everything. But it's a temporary issue. You think 60% of Americans who are living paycheck to paycheck can afford lobster tails and ribeyes and all of that? Maybe not. Maybe the 60% of America don't work as hard hard as I do either. I mean, I don't know.
And then MAGA Republican Congressmember Troy Nails wasn't done there yet. He said, what we really need to do in this country is, he said, we need to put a big bedsheet over the Statue of Liberty and we need a 10-year moratorium. Put a big sheet over the head of the Statue of Liberty.
Here, play this clip.
The fact of the matter is this, is that if the American people are truly, truly going to enjoy the Fourth of July, right? You have to love our country. Number one, you have to love our country. There's a lot of people— there's a lot of people— there's a lot of people— can I tell you something? This is what we got to do. We got to put a bed sheet, a big bed sheet over the Statue of Liberty. 10 years, 10-year moratorium on immigration.
No more.
We have to get this under control. The amount of people that are in this country, we don't even know who they are. The tens of millions that came through in the previous administration, we don't know who they are. The people over here on visas, you know, you signed a little deal that says I come over here for 5 years and then I'm going to leave. They're overstaying their visas. The fact of the matter is we got to have a 10-year moratorium on immigration. So we got to have a freeze, put a bedsheet over the Statue of Liberty. Why a bedsheet? A bedsheet because she's going to need to go to sleep for a while. She got to go sleep for a while because we're not letting anybody in anymore.
Some people think of—
we got it. I'm not saying it's dead. What I'm trying to say is, is that instead of having the torch, maybe needs a stop sign. Maybe we need a little bit of a stop sign.
Well, so I guess if it was a report card, what would— what grade would you give Donald Trump on affordability and affordability?
An A.
With everything he's dealing with, he's dealing a lot with the previous administration too, and all the stupid things that they did. So, no, I give Donald Trump an A, an A+. I'm celebrating the Fourth of July. And the Americans should appreciate the fact we've got the greatest president in my lifetime in the White House, Donald Trump.
Okay, what about MAGA Republican Elsie? Hey, MAGA Republican Congressmember Elsie, what are you going to do for affordability? And then he's like, you're going to have to ask the people who are in charge. It's you. You guys control every branch of government. MAGA Republicans, you control every branch of government.
Here, play this clip.
Mr. Elsie, how do House Republicans make the case for affordability when you go home to your districts now?
You'll have to ask the people who made this happen, and I'm not one of them.
Oh, you have a trifecta. House, Senate, and White House.
So then we spoke with Democratic Congresswoman Ballantyne, and we asked her, what did you just make of what the hell just happened? You have all these MAGA Republican Congress members just running out, shutting down the House. Shutting down the People's House. What do you make of it?
Here, play this clip.
What do you make of Republican Speaker of the House Mike Johnson deciding to cut and run yet again before the week is over?
Okay.
I had my, I had my team total up the number of days that he has sent us home early since I've been in Congress. And it's up, it was up to 74 days, but now I got to add a few more days. It's absurd. They wanted all the power and they don't know what to do with it. They can't seem to get a rule passed on the floor. It's an embarrassment, honestly, just an embarrassment.
Speaking of embarrassments, what do you make of no one showing up to this 250th anniversary party that Trump has been throwing on the Mall?
So, look, it could have been the most amazing celebration. Amazing. If you did not make it a hyper-partisan event, if you had just continued with the folks who had been working on America 250 to make it something that all Americans could come together around. But no, he had to poison it, which is what he does over and over and over again, just like the reflecting pool.
Got it.
Thank you, Congressman.
Have a good break.
And then bring in JD Vance, Mr. Gaslighter himself. And JD Vance is like, okay, you know what I really wish—
what wish—
I wish we could do, but the Democrats, these, these Democrats, they're not going to let this ever happen. I would love to see Democrats and Republicans working together On something like housing, on something like housing affordability.
Really?
I mean, this is what I mean. I mean, these MAGAs, these JD Vances, these vile creatures, they treat people like they're so dumb. The Democrats and the Republicans came together this week, bipartisan housing affordability bill that Donald Trump refused to sign. That literally took place. But Donald Trump said it's a big yawn. Why would I support a housing affordability bill? The same way under actually former President Biden's term, the Democrats worked with Republicans under Biden to come up with a bipartisan immigration bill, and Donald Trump ordered all the MAGA Republicans kill that immigration bill. If we solve the problem with compassion, with dignity, and with strong borders all combined, then it could hurt us in the elections, the MAGA said. So we gotta kill the immigration bill so we can run on the problem. We gotta run on pain and fear. That's literally what happened.
Here.
But listen to what JD Vance said.
Play this clip.
More momentum in that direction from the Democrat Party. Frankly, Laura, I would love it if Democrats were willing, you know, not that they are gonna agree with Republicans all the time, but if they were willing to work with us on lowering housing prices, on lowering gas prices, on actually making the lives of American citizens better, you know, we could have some real bipartisan compromise. That's not what they're talking about. They're talking about abolishing the police and letting criminals rule our cities. That is a fundamental transformation in the Democrat Party. It's very bad for our country. It's bad for Democrats, and it just drives home why we have to keep these people from getting close to power.
But as the MAGA Republicans were leaving and they shut down the House, Steve Scalise, who's basically one of the top MAGA Republicans in the House other than MAGA Mike, he's basically the top of leadership. He goes, folks, we may be leaving, we may be going home, but we're in a golden age. So everybody's happy and all of our constituents are rich. Gas prices are down 50 cents. Everybody's doing amazing. Here's what he has to say.
Play this clip.
On the other side, uh, this is a country that's actually experiencing a golden age again. I mean, gas prices are down 50 cents from where they were just a few weeks ago and continuing to go down. Affordability is back again, and Democrats are upset about that because they wanted it as a talking point for November.
And this is the moment where MAGA Mike learned that the Supreme Court found that birthright citizenship is found in the 14th Amendment of the Constitution. And watch what he— watch what he goes. He goes, well, I, I guess that's a strict textualist and originalist approach.
This is what he says. Play this clip.
Jurisdiction of the United States are citizens at birth under the 14th Amendment citizenship clause. What's your reaction to that?
Well, This is real time.
I need to read the opinion. Okay. But obviously that's— I mean, you could say that's a textualist, originalist view. However, I do think that this has been grossly abused in recent years. Okay.
And finally, here's MAGA Mike when he was asked, like, so why didn't Donald Trump sign the housing bill? And MAGA Mike's like, you know, he's very busy. He's got a lot going on. Busy guy. I'm gonna have to explain it to him. Very complicated stuff here. Oh, that's what you— that's what you're going with?
You're playing this clip?
Is the president has a lot going on. And I think it's safe to say he's not read through every line of that piece of legislation. It's a lot to it. And, and a lot of great things. And he and I've spoken about it quite a bit. He understands all the dynamics here, what he was saying, and legislation. But what he was saying is, in comparison to ensuring election integrity, which is, which is now represented by the Save America Act. Nothing is as important because you cannot maintain a constitutional republic unless you have free and fair elections. A government of, by, and for the people is ultimately and foundationally dependent upon that. That's what the president is saying. We all agree with that. And by the way, so do the American people. And that's not to say that there are not also incredibly important issues. And the cost of living and affordability is among them. It's top of mind. I've spent 6 hours in the Oval Office, uh, in the— just in the last few days. I think 4 hours on Thursday, over 2 hours yesterday. We talked about all this in great length. The president certainly understands the importance of affordable housing.
As he's noted yesterday, he knows as much about housing as anybody because that in many respects was part of his portfolio.
And that was, folks, what was going on in the House of Representatives as MAGA Mike Johnson shuts down the House again. 2 weeks, it's closed. They don't do work. They're pathetic. Truly the worst. And they're all going home and Troy Nails will have his lobster or whatever the hell he's doing. These people truly hate you. These MAGAs truly hate you. I don't mean— I mean, just being blunt, they hate you. They hate America. They hate this country. They hate your happiness. They hate your family. They hate They're haters. They're losers and they're haters.
Just—
