Welcome to the Level Up Podcast. I'm your host Paul Alex. I went from being a cop to an eight-figure entrepreneur that helps average people like you and me make money. Every single day. I created this podcast to help you get motivated and to crush your goals. Let's win together. Remember, I have your 6. Get ready to level up right now. What's up everyone? Welcome back to the Level Up Podcast. I'm Paul Alex, and today we are conducting a brutal internal review, the ego audit. Because let's be real, the exact traits that made you an incredible employee— following the rules, waiting for instructions, and blending in— are the exact traits that will make you a terrible entrepreneur. Let's break down why you have to aggressively fire your past self to scale your future business. First, understand that what got you out of the cubicle will not get you to the boardroom. Too many new founders try to operate their startup with the exact same mindset they used at their 9-to-5. They focus on busywork, they obsess over having the perfect logo, and they avoid direct confrontation. That is an employee operating system running on founder hardware.
It will crash. Whether you are leading a team or closing a massive client, you have to transition from taking orders to giving direction. If you hold on to your subordinate habits, you kill your leadership authority. Second, you have to run a ruthless ego audit and eliminate the behaviors that no longer serve you. People who evolve rapidly are not afraid to admit when their current mindset is weak. So, instead of clinging to the comfort of your old routines, aggressively adopt the discomfort of command. Speak with authority, take absolute accountability for failures, and force yourself into the spotlight. Make the death of your old identity a mandatory step in your scaling process. Lastly, evolving past your old self unlocks a completely new tier of execution. When you shed the timid, rule-following employee mindset and fully embrace the aggressive, calculating nature of a CEO, the market instantly responds to the shift. Radical self-correction, extreme adaptability, and a willingness to reinvent create a legendary founder. When you fire the old you, the new you builds the empire. Bottom line: you cannot wear the armor of a foot soldier and expect to sit on the throne. Upgrade your mindset, embrace the pressure, and lead the charge.
Because when you do, you will transform faster than ever. Thanks for tuning into the Level Up Podcast. I'm Paul Alex reminding you, growth requires the sacrifice of who you used to be. Do the audit, make the shift, and as always, keep leveling up. Thanks for listening up to the Level Up Podcast.
