Hello, and welcome. Yes. Yes. Everyone who has tuned in, you are indeed stuck with me. No Steve Dangle tonight.

00:04:07

He is in Ottawa at a book signing, but you get me in his place. And what a night we get to enjoy Leafs hockey where Nick Robertson is being healthy scratch because of his terrible game yesterday. Shout out to everybody who's in the chat early. Always love you guys in the chat early. Yeah.

00:04:27

Nick Robertson, according to all of the Leafs reporters down there. I'm reading from David Alter. Pacheretti, Matthews, Marner, top line, Nies, Tavares, Nylander, Holmberg, Minton, Alex Nylander, Lawrence Dewar, Reeves. So that's the forward group, and Alex Nylander comes in to replace Nick Robertson. That's the story going into this game, for me because, like, last night was the final straw for Nick Robertson just getting a break.

00:05:01

He he was he was turning his game around when he scored that goal, that that great that great goal. He scored the like, what? Like, 2 games ago. It was like, okay. Finally, something went in.

00:05:15

And then we see his game last night where he is re he's on the ice for 1 of the goals, then he's offside on a play where he mixed the pass to the player at the blue line. So, like, you you should know how to be onside. And then out of that draw where he caused the offsides, he takes a bad penalty, and he goes to the box. He was he was swimming upstream, that entire game against the caps last night, and Broobie is like, okay. Not only are you not scoring the 2 goals he scored all season long, now you're also not hustling the right way.

00:05:55

That's what kept him in the lineup was playing hockey the right way despite not getting results. And now he's not doing anything right, and he's not getting results. Let's see what Alex Nylander can do. So Nylander's in the lineup. Rubenkyn is also out of the lineup, because Reeves is on that 4th line with Lawrence and Deuer.

00:06:18

Olmberg on the wing. Alright. And then, Pacheretti slides in there. So Pacheretti, I guess, takes the Grubankin spot, and then he moves up to the first line, which I think is very interesting. You remove Nyes from the first line because Pacheretti's there, because you wanna see Pacheretti at the first line there.

00:06:36

And then you keep Matthews and Marner together as they were together last game. So a lot of interestingly storylines to go, for this game. And the Penguins Penguins stink right now, so we'll see if the Penguins are good. Adam Wilde couldn't do this game because he refuses to sit there and talk about Kyle Dubas at all and the the team that Kyle Dubas manages. So that's why Adam Wilde is not filling in.

00:06:59

It is I filling in. We got a we got somebody who gifted a whole bunch of memberships. Sorry. You guys just keep chatting away. I gotta I gotta catch up.

00:07:10

Wes Richard gifted 10 membership. Wes Wes, this is for you. 1st air horns of the night for Wes. You absolutely love to see it. If you get a gifted membership, please please thank the person who gifted you the membership.

00:07:30

What does a gifted membership get you? Well, you become an a member of SDPVIP on our YouTube channel. And that means you get an extra episode of The Steve D'Agle podcast every single week. And you can go back and watch all of the other ones that we recorded over the last, what has it been, 12 months now? Because we started this back in January where we started SDP VIP.

00:07:58

So you can go back and, and watch all of the extra episodes of the SDP. And on that episode, the extra 1 we do every week, it drops Thursday at midnight. We talk about other things that are not sometimes we do sports adjacent stories. Like, we'll do, like, baseball or, sorry, hockey, not hockey stories, but are still sports. We'll do, like, baseball topics or or basketball topics and that sort of stuff.

00:08:21

But, mainly, it's like pop culture stuff. Like, this upcoming week, we're gonna be doing next, next Wednesday when we record the episode to come out on Thursday. We're gonna be doing a full breakdown of the Hawkgirl, doing a crypto scam and, like, scamming people out of, like, $40,000,000. So that's gonna be fun to talk about. And then we gotta we gotta do a deep dive on Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keegan and all of their mess that's happening right now because he released a statement today about how he's like, stop bullying me on the Internet.

00:08:54

I I know I'm a cheater, but stop. So we're gonna talk about all of that fun stuff on the next VIP. And you, who just received that gift and membership, get to watch that episode. So, thank you. Also, live breath blue.

00:09:11

See, Adam and Steve, they do these streams too, but they don't got buttons like me. Live breath blue gifted 10 memberships. So live breath blue. You know what? We're bringing out the dancing panda.

00:09:25

Dancing panda's on the screen. Little confetti. Thank you for gifting those memberships. Also, Brian Greenwood, OG, we haven't hit the best button of all quite yet. Brian knows what's up.

00:09:40

Donated $10. Crab. Crab people emote. Crab people emote has been hit. It has been pressed tonight.

00:09:50

They are starting to do the Canadian ash national anthem. Just updating you guys on what's on my screen. The Hillcrest 6th grade choir is singing right now. So that's where I'm looking at. Game hasn't started.

00:10:02

We also got Wes Richard. Says, Jesse, you beautiful man, donated $5 to the channel. I should boost my seat a little. There we go. Oh, I can't even get higher than that.

00:10:13

Wes Richards says, Jesse, you beautiful man, when the Leafs are fully healthy and barring no trades, what would be your ideal lineup? My ideal lineup is very similar to the lineup they have tonight, but I am of the proponent that you keep Matthews and Marner away from each other. I don't think that the ideal lineup has Matthew Matthews and Marner together on that top line. I think it's Nies, Matthews, Nylander, Pacheretti, Tavares, Marner. That's your top 6.

00:10:47

And then the mid the bottom 2 lines, I think Minton should make this team. He's been playing so well. I'd love to see I'd love to see Minton stick around and play that 3rd c position. So, ideally, he's 3 c, and then Holmberg on the left wing, new acquired right winger for the 3rd line. That's my trade deadline hope.

00:11:17

And then you get Lorenz, Dewar, and I don't know if Reeves makes the playoff lineup, but it might be good to have Reeves there or newly acquired 4th line, 4th line winger. Defense defense tonight is Riley Myers, Oel Tanev, Benoit, Timmins, and Joseph Wolff starting. Matt Best is in the chat. Shout out Matt Matt Best right now. We've done some work together, recently for 888 Casino.

00:11:46

Matt Best, absolute chef. Says he'll eat a ghost pepper if Reeves scores tonight. We are holding you to that. So shout out Matt. The deep airing tonight for the Leafs is Riley Myers, Oel Tanev, Benoit Timmons.

00:12:02

That's cool. But ideally in the playoffs, it's some combination of Riley, OEL, Tanev, Hawkenpaugh, McCabe, and Benoit or Timmons. I don't know how those split up, but, yeah, ideally, Myers isn't in there. It's Haakonpah. And McCabe, who's just placed on IR retroactive to, I think, like, late November.

00:12:28

So they they're doing some roster management with that stuff as everybody gets healthy and back into the lineup. They need to put more guys on injured reserve to get give the healthy guys some alright. We are getting closer to the game starting here. The anthems are done. We absolutely love to see the anthems finishing.

00:12:49

If you guys are not familiar, I like to watch along with the, NHL page. So we have, the NHL page here. It is a little ahead of my screen. So we're gonna have the all the timing and everything there, and you can follow along there. But I hope it, no.

00:13:10

There we go. So, yeah, it's kicking off there. Because that is, like, directly from the NHL broadcast, that it's gonna be a little ahead of what I'm watching. So I'm gonna if you wanna sync up with me, I'm gonna count down. The puck's already dropped.

00:13:24

The puck's behind the net. I'm gonna count down with what I got on my screen once they stop doing the little line combinations on screen there, and we're gonna count down the time. So if you wanna sync up your with your, what you're watching with what I'm watching, we can do that together. The Leafs are sending the puck all the way to the other end. Oh, right into Jari, so no icing there.

00:13:46

Alright. Clock is back up on the screen. Now oh, they're doing the line combinations again. I can't get the score bug on the screen because they keep doing the line combination animations. So we got a stoppage here.

00:13:59

This is the puck has been the the play has been stopped. Joseph Wall, they're showing the replay early on of Joseph Wall getting, like, in the way of all the play. Bit of an eventful start, but we will get this thing going here. So here we go. Finally there we go.

00:14:23

Okay. 9, 19, 18, 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10. That is what I'm seeing on my screen right now. If you wanted to sync up, I will do it again once we hit 19, and then I'll leave it there for maybe half the period. 59, 58, 57, 56, 55.

00:14:48

There you go. If you wanna sync up, that is it, and I need to get to Robert Betts' chat here who says for $10, I know they are doing they are doing good now, but not a big fan of Matthews and Marner. A little bit of chance there for Nylander in front. Stops by the Penguins. Let's hope if they start to miss Baru Be, if they start to miss, Baru Be will move them, unlike Keith.

00:15:13

Hope it will resolve itself. Robert, I am on the same boat as you. I am on the exact same bandwagon as you. I don't think Matthews and Marner should play together. I think this team is better when they are able to run their own lines.

00:15:31

Lock in on the game here for a little bit. Puck is behind the Penguins' net, wrapping around the boards, out to all the way to the other side. Leafs deep playing with the puck a little. They're trying to enter the zone, and they can't. Regrouping.

00:15:47

Let's try it again. Alright. Here we go. Holmberg playing the puck down low. Everybody's against the boards.

00:15:57

Let's see if at least can get something done here. I oh, Tana blows a tire. Chance for the pens, but nothing there. Still no shots on goal. There's 1 by Carlson that couldn't feed through.

00:16:18

Do we have another set of gifted memberships? Thank you, Canadian girl 5. I appreciate you. Here's a little confetti in an air horn. Oh, Morgan Riley can't feed it through.

00:16:37

Reeves is on the ice, oh, laying ahead on Carlson. Reeves is Reeves is such a great mascot for the all the guys in in the team. Like, he's he's truly the energy guy on and off the ice. Like, being around the team, you get to see like, they all love Reeves. We have a oh, Cassie.

00:17:08

2 bucks from Cassie. Oh, little chance here for the Leafs. Riley, shot blocked. Everything's getting blocked tonight. Cassie says, I've been dreading this game all week.

00:17:23

Leafs are hot. Except for that game last night, they weren't that they they got beat by a better team. Penguins what's Penguins' record in the last little bit? I gotta check. Oh, penalty.

00:17:43

Looks like Matthew Nies drew the penalty. They're showing the Willie play there. Waiting for the replay of the penalty. Oh, yeah. Marner just missed the net there.

00:18:07

Oh, the penalty's on Matthew Nies. Matthew Nies is just getting his stick all the way around Raquel. Bad bad hooking call there for for Matthew Nies. You gotta get there and make a play with your body. Not a not not the best work there by Nies, but you forgive him because he's played so well this season.

00:18:29

Pens to the power play here. 1554, 321 on my screen here. We got the pens entering the zone on the power play. Already, at 30 seconds killed, but the pens are setting up here. Oh, there's a first shot on on goal in the game.

00:18:56

I think it there it is. Okay. Stoppage there. Joseph Wall covers the puck after a little bit of a dangerous play by the Penn's power play there. We got a $2 donation.

00:19:10

Canadian girl 83 says, I will also donate for a Alex Nielander goal. Wes says, if a Nielander scores a goal tonight, all gift another 10 subs less go. That's Wes Richard who says that. Thank you, Wes. And that's the bandwagon that Canadian girl 83 is hopping onto.

00:19:32

Alex Nielander goals. Here we come. Alright. Let's see what happens on the PB here for the, Penguins. Shot through.

00:19:42

That's a goal. Oh my goodness. That is not great. Early goal for the pens. That's Grislic who shoots it through everybody, and it just goes right through.

00:20:01

They pens win the face off, puck's back to the point, passed over, sent back up to the point, and then it just cuts through. Wow. Wall never saw that puck at all. He touched it on the way in too. Almost made a blind save there, but Wall did not see that 1.

00:20:29

Penn's really, got in front of the net there and and blocked his view. They may anybody else watching on Sportsnet see that the shot counter isn't working? Oh, there. Okay. Just updated.

00:20:45

For the first part of the game, the shot counter wasn't working. Shots are now 4 to 2 for Pittsburgh. Canadian girl 83 says not great unless you are Cassie. Yeah. Cassie, the Pens fan.

00:20:59

Very happy. Thank you for the 2 bucks. Appreciate that. We will also play this because the Pens scored. Not a great start for your Toronto Maple Leafs.

00:21:18

We don't like any of that. We had a poll run earlier off the top of the show. The poll was who's taking it tonight? Toronto or Pittsburgh? 83% of people said the Toronto Maple Leafs, and 16% of people said the Pittsburgh Penguins.

00:21:45

Oh, we have 10 gifted subs from Cassie. Cassie, thank you. We appreciate that so much. Hey. Another $2 from Cassie.

00:22:10

Cassie, thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Alright. 1337353433 on my screen.

00:22:25

There's a shot. Goes just wide. Matthews now over to OEL. Hey. That's in the back of the net.

00:22:37

Leafs goal. Wonderful stuff from the Toronto Maple Leafs there. We get a goal. We get an OEL shot. Hits the hits the post.

00:22:56

Oh, they're showing the full replay there. Oh, beats does Mitch Marner get on that while he's falling down? Marner. What a play. Marner falling.

00:23:11

Falling to the ground, is able to reach around, poke it through Jari. What a goal, Mitch Marner. Absolutely love that. That is Mitch Marner unassisted. Mitch Marner unassisted at when it's a 603.

00:23:36

I hate when they do the clock the other way. Mitch Marner unassisted. That is an awesome goal by Marner there. Just just like the wherewithal to be like, the puck the puck is somewhere there. I'm gonna turn around while falling and poke that through.

00:23:59

Mitch Marter's been on an absolute heater lately, and, like, he's trying to it's we just had a chat there, and I a 100% agree with it. He's trying to earn every single dollar of this contract. We also had James who's for $5 says, I can hear Steve screaming. That's what happens when you go to the net. Yes.

00:24:20

Somewhere in Ottawa at his book signing, Steve is cheering. That's what happens when you go to the net. Because Mitch Marner, in front of the net, turnaround play, absolutely beautiful stuff. We have a stoppage in play here at 12/20 7 left in the 1st period. We are going to a commercial break.

00:24:43

Yeah. Mitch is gonna earn a lot of money this this upcoming off season. I don't know with who. Depends on how the playoff goes, but I assume it's gonna be the Toronto Maple Leafs because this is what they do every single time. But somebody's gonna pay them a whole bunch of money to to to have those goals for them next season.

00:25:11

Thank you for everybody who's tuning in tonight. As I mentioned off the top, Steve Dangle is in Ottawa at a book signing. We will be in Kingston tomorrow. If you are in the Kingston area, you can come see The Steve Dangle Podcast live at the Kingston Frontenacs game, and we are also doing a live show after it at the Caesar Company. So you can come watch us at the game, and, like, we host the intermission stuff.

00:25:39

We do bubble soccer, all that fun stuff on the ice. And then afterwards, we have a live show that you can also attend. So if you're in the Kingston area, come out to that. Go to the Kingston Front and Ax website if you want more details, if you wanna tune in if you wanna get tickets for that. I wanna see what the penguins are looking like this last little stretch here and how they've been playing with their tight schedule.

00:26:20

Yeah. They're coming off a loss last night to the Rangers. I did actually see parts of that game. Because, after that whole Jacob Trouba mess of a day where they trade Trouba and give Shesterkin that big deal, the rangers went out, and they beat the Penguins 42. And the Penguins are in the same situation as the Leafs where it's back to back with travel because that game was in New York, and now we're back in Pittsburgh.

00:26:45

So the excuse for, like, either of these teams being a tired team, they're in the same boat. New York is closer to Pittsburgh than Toronto, but same difference here. Not too much. We also got another chat here from wonder Davey for $5. Would Steve do what would Steve do if he had access to the soundboard during streams?

00:27:06

Yeah. There is a reason we don't give it to him. He could not control himself. It would be a mess of a livestream. I also don't he's not the most tech savvy, so he doesn't, like, run his own streams.

00:27:19

He's got a producer to handle all that fun stuff. So, yeah, we keep the buttons away from Steve. 1137363534 on my screen here. The puck is going in behind the back of the net in the offensive zone for the Penguins. Joseph Wall covers it up so that we don't get any scrambles in front for that puck.

00:27:44

Robert Betts says, what do you think Phillippe Myers what do you think of Phillippe Myers? I think he's playing really good. I think he has a good career ahead of him. Yeah. I, I love Philly Myers.

00:27:55

I think he's he's been doing really well in his limited role with the Leafs in the games that he's gotten into. It's just like the Leafs are so deep right now on Dee that if they're all healthy, he doesn't make the lineup. But there's never a case where all the Leafs are healthy. You know? It just it just doesn't work out that way where all of the Leafs d are healthy, and that's why you have extra bodies like Phillippe Myers who can fill in at a moment's notice and play solid d.

00:28:27

He's playing on the top pair right now with Morgan Rielly. Like, that's your 7th defenseman who can slot in on the 1st pair. That's hella useful. So big fan of Myers and what he brings to the table. Not gonna give you anything really offensively, but solid defense, and that's what you want out of, defenseman.

00:28:46

Scott Morton says, would Julian not let Steve use his house and set up for tonight? He could. He could. It just would have been a lot from him going from the live show to then us trying to rig it up at Julian's. And Julian's also gotta work.

00:29:04

Right? Like, he's got the Sens game to cover tonight. So it's not just like, hey. Julian's there to help and all that stuff. And and yeah.

00:29:13

It's easier if we just have that's why there's 3 of us. That's why there's myself and Adam. We can step in when 1 of us needs the time off and to go do their book signings. You know? That's what we're here for.

00:29:23

Teamwork, everybody. Teamwork like how the pens and Leafs are trying to play with teamwork to get a goal here. 10 minutes left in the first period on my screen. The Penguins here trying to enter the zone. Joseph Wall is playing the puck behind the net.

00:29:41

Lazard trying to get the puck from Joseph Wall. Doesn't do it. We got a little break here. No. Jari plays the puck away from Holmberg, so we can't get on that break.

00:29:48

But Holmberg keeps the puck in the zone, and the Leafs are now setting up their offense with the Homburg, Minton line, their Nylander line. There's Alex in the corner looking like Willie using those great edges. Both of them fantastic scares. Here's a break. Minton fires it high.

00:30:12

Can't beat Jari. Great little play there for Fraser Minton, who's looked spectacular. Another chance off a leg in front into the corner. Great pressure here by the 3rd line. I love this line.

00:30:29

I love I love that Minton Holmberg, Nylander line. We got a couple of chats I gotta get back to. David says, hey, Jesse. Are you guys staying in Kingston tomorrow or heading back to Toronto after the event? Looking forward to seeing you guys.

00:30:42

Thank you for coming out. David, thank you for coming out to the show. Tomorrow, I am looking forward to seeing you. We're actually all there to see David Owens. David Owens is the reason we have the live show.

00:30:58

Here's a nice shot by Tavares. Tavares does that little thing where he comes out in front, and he spins it back around. He shoots. Does not get through the goaltender, though. Does not get through to the goaltender at all.

00:31:07

The shot was blocked. David, to answer your question, we are driving back to Toronto. Oh, but there's another shot. Tavares can't get the rebound. The Leafs are getting some great pressure here early on or late in the the middle of the first period here.

00:31:22

Tavares with another chance. Good stuff from the Leafs. We are driving back to our respective homes. 3 hours isn't so bad where if we're out of there by, like, 10, we're home around, like, 1. You know?

00:31:35

It's not too bad of a drive, just down the 401 back to our home. So no need to stay and spend the extra money on Airbnbs in Kingston. Great lows chances there for the Leafs from that Tavares line. We got the Matthews, Marner, Pacheretti line back out there. If you missed it, Pacheretti is back in the lineup.

00:31:57

Alex Nylander is back in the lineup. Nick Robertson, scratched. Grabenkin is scratched. That's what the lineup's looking like tonight. Everybody stay higher hydrated.

00:32:13

If you got if you got water, take a sip. Stay hydrated. Hydration is very important. There's a little shot there by the penguins by Matt Grislic, which is blocked and sent into the corner. Everybody's fighting for it.

00:32:29

4th line is out there. There's Ryan Rees with a stick stuck between his legs. Ryan Rees had a stick stuck between his legs. Hilarity is ensuing on the ice as Reese has his arms in the air, and he's diving to try and block that shot. Now a little pressure from the Penguins here after the Leafs had that pressure.

00:32:51

4th line's breaking out for the Leafs. Jewer's looking for Lawrence. He gets them. Reeves, backhanded, 1 handed shot. I think it hit Jari and bounced over the corner.

00:33:09

Hey. Here's a chance. Benoit, 1 on 1 with the goalie. Can't beat him. Oh my goodness.

00:33:20

Simone Benoit, all alone. Can't do anything. Oh my goodness. Unfortunately, Benoit is not Austin Matthews, does not have the snipe show that a much a much more adept player might have, but Jari with a nice save. Cassie says the Penguins do don't know how to play defense actually.

00:33:54

Facts. Big facts from Cassie. The penguin's not great at defense. So we had Reeves with the 1 handed backhand shot to try and beat Tristan Jari. Jari gets a little bit of a piece of it, hits the post.

00:34:10

Then we get Benoit all by himself. Just takes it. I I would have loved to see a bit of dangles there. You know, your forehand, backhand, you take your time with that. You were 1 on 1 all alone, but Jari does a smart thing.

00:34:23

Comes out, cuts off the angles, makes the save off the kinda side of the net post area. They cover up the puck. 620. 620 left in the 1st period. We have a tie ball game, ladies and gentlemen.

00:34:39

I'm gonna hit this little button.

00:34:41

Crab people. Crab people.

00:34:44

That is the Crab People button where we celebrate our emotes. It looks like our hands are in the air cheering. That is why the crab people button is our official emote on any of my streams. Our Discord server came up with that 1. It is it is some beautiful stuff.

00:35:11

Andrew says, are you staying at the ambassador with the water park? I don't no. No. We are not. No.

00:35:19

We are not staying at the ambassador with the water park. Cassie says, they're near the top and high danger chances against yeah. I'm not surprised at that at all that teams can just are just feasting this season on the Pittsburgh Penguins. What a for a franchise that had so much success, I guess this is what comes with the territory. You know, when you have so much success, you then have you have the downturn of of of your era as a franchise.

00:35:54

You know? But it's tough to see. It's tough to watch this organization struggle because they still have all a lot of the major pieces, Malkin, Letay, and Crosby from those championship airs. That was a great shot there by JT. What a snipe he tried to have, A snipe that got caught by Jari, like, right into his glove, but, like, lot of velocity on that wrist shot.

00:36:20

Watching the replay here. Oof. Wrist shot's a thing of the past. Everybody loves everybody loves snapshots these days. There's, like, a a slight difference between if you're taking a wrist shot and a slap shot and how much you bring the puck back, like, in the blade of the stick and and with your wrist.

00:36:40

But the wrist shot is, like, slowly fading because everybody can take these really quick snapshots and and get them past the goalie. And same with the the slapshot is something we never see unless it's from the point, from a defenseman. Here's a chance for the Penguins. That shot goes wide, and then we get a rebound off the boards. Is that Sydney Crosby?

00:36:59

No. It's not Sydney Crosby. Sydney Crosby with his hands in the air. He's on the ice. Penguins goal off the boards.

00:37:10

Shot missed. Oh, was it Crosby or Russ? Who's who's getting credit for let me see if it's on the oh, Brian Russ gets the credit for it. There you go. They kept showing Crosby on the on the screen.

00:37:23

Crosby is the 1 who took the initial shot. So Crosby takes the initial shot right off the boards. Brian Rust right behind him to collect that puck and score. That is a Penguins goal, which means we are sad. Boo.

00:37:48

Boo indeed. Imaginary crowd. Sloppy game tonight says j_max. I agree with that. I agree with that.

00:37:58

It's a bit of a sloppy game. Did Crosby do that on purpose? Chat, can you let me know? Was he shooting on purpose to get the bounce? We got a stoppage here at 516.

00:38:10

Joseph Wall holds on to the puck. Chat, let me know. Wanderer says, hey, Jesse. If you guys still talk to the guys at Shrueless Joe's, can you ask them to bring back the chicken Asiago Parmesan? It's to die for.

00:38:26

I'm gonna actually take a screenshot of this. I'm gonna send this to Shoeless Joe's. I'm gonna send that to Shoeless Joe's. Wonderer, I will see what I can do for you. Chat.

00:38:39

Oh, Cassie. Cassie, thank you. Thank you for the gifted subs. We greatly appreciate it. We greatly appreciate the gifted subs.

00:38:54

If you received an SDP VIP membership from Cassie, please thank her in the chat. It is your duty as an SDP community member to thank the person who gifts you a sub in the chat. You must do it. Else, we're gonna revoke. No.

00:39:09

We won't revoke it. But, like, do the right thing and thank them. I was saying, is the Crosby shot on purpose? Chat, what do you think? Nick says shooting for a rebound.

00:39:26

Cassie said probably. Cassie says he does it often. Defoe for a rebound. Guessing putting on the net for a rebound, says Brad. Accidentally on purpose, says Doug.

00:39:43

Yeah. I think I think it was, like, he's kinda doing it on perp accidentally on perp like, yeah. Like, he did it to kinda do it, but, like, not to fully do it. You know? Like, he didn't know Brian Rust was right there.

00:40:04

Oh, most assists with 1 franchise. Sidney Crosby has 1,023. He moves into a tie for 5th with Gordie Howe. I think Crosby did it, but he didn't really know, like, Russ was right there just in the chance that, hey. We got a good rebound here.

00:40:25

We got a good opportunity off of this shot, and it worked out. Like, what a smart player. 1 of the greatest of all time. That's not controversial. Top 5 player ever, Sidney Crosby, watching his greatness on display here.

00:40:37

Saturday night, streaming with the SDPM people. 5 minutes left here in the 1st period. I'm gonna count down my clock. 555, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0, 49, 48, 47. That's where my clock is right now.

00:40:55

Pittsburgh has the puck in the offensive zone. The Leafs are trying to get it out, and they don't. There's Malkin with the puck around the blue line. Carlson can't oh, there's a breakaway. Willie, breakaway.

00:41:11

Willie. All saved by Tristan Jari. Willie can't get it past Jari. Oh, he tried to go 5 hole. Man.

00:41:31

What a chance there for Willie. He usually he's usually really good on breakaways. He missed 1 last night too in the Caps game where he just, backhand wide. It didn't even hit the net. And then there, he tries to go 5 hole, and Jari easily snuffs that 1 out.

00:41:48

Great chance there for Willie, though. Good stuff. Leafs here, a little bit of pressure. I believe that was Alex Nylander out there trying to get it to the net. Holmberg, this is my favorite line of the night.

00:42:06

The Minton, Nylander, Holmberg line, they worked so hard. Look at those kids. Ackman Larson tries to send in the net. Nylander can't get the puck from the Penn's player, but Tanav gets control of it here, working the puck back into their own zone. OEL breaks in, dumps it deep.

00:42:25

Jari playing the puck behind the net. Alright. This game there's been no point where this game is, like, settled in. We've had a very eventful back and forth first period here. I love this kind of hockey.

00:42:46

Like, coaches can't be happy with what's going on here. It's a little sloppy. Chances both ways. Quite a few blocked shots, which is great. People crowding the net.

00:42:58

3 goals already on the board. There's a chance for Matthews from Marner who wrapped it around the back. Marner now up at the point, sends it towards the net, goes off Letang and wide. Matthews playing the puck here. Marner with it.

00:43:16

Over to Riley. Lee's doing something. Fingers crossed for a goal. There's Mitch. Sends it behind the boards.

00:43:26

Patches in his in a great spot in front of the net. Lot of offensive zone time here. Mitch again with the puck in the middle. Shoots. Jari with the blocker save.

00:43:37

And Pittsburgh sends the puck all the way to the other end. Icing? No icing there. Lee's doing a great job keeping the puck in the zone. Here's a chance for the Pens.

00:43:56

Puck goes wide. Nick says the Buds look like it's game 2 in 24 hours. It's game 2 in 24 hours for the Penguins as well. They played the Rangers last night. Both these teams in similar in the same situation.

00:44:11

No excuses on either end for these teams. Here's Benoit. Again, offensive Benoit. This game has been nonstop for this last 3 minutes here or this first. All the way back to Joseph Wall.

00:44:30

At least play in the puck behind the net. Let's see if they can get a late goal here. 1 minute left. Jon Favre is entering the zone. Here's JT again trying to feed it to Willie.

00:44:55

Nothing happening. Cassie says half half off Rusty Shakes tomorrow. What does that mean? What is half off Rusty Shakes tomorrow? What is Rusty Shakes?

00:45:11

Cassie, I'm gonna need some more info. Shay says, shouldn't the player markers be moving on screen? No. No. They shouldn't.

00:45:21

The this is what you see on nhl.com. I like to have it up so everybody can see the score, everybody can see what's happening in the game. This is who's on the ice here. You can see the little numbers. I don't know if you can see it, but, like, that's who's on the ice.

00:45:32

We got 8 seconds left here in the period. 54321. The on screen moving stuff, that's this. So if you go here so this is all, like, I'm just on the web page. You go here, that's where you get the moving graphics when somebody scores.

00:45:50

We're the end of the 1st period, by the way. So you can see, like, that's how that goal went down. And, like, this is the Marner goal. So we had OEL there, shot on goal, back up to Tanev. Tanev over to Austin.

00:46:03

Austin over to OEL. OEL shoots, rebound, Marner taps it back in. That's a goal. Whoo. And then you have Brian Rust here and his goal where Crosby has the shot off the boards.

00:46:16

We can all watch this together. There's Crosby with his beautiful shot. Brian Rust follows it up. So that's what moves. This is just who's on the ice.

00:46:28

Shea? There's your explanation. This little Zamboni thing does move, though. So at some point, you're gonna see the Zambonis kick in. There it is.

00:46:37

The Zambonis are kicking in, and they are at intermission. We can see our intermission countdown of when the game will be back in 1555, and we can see the Zambonis on the ice zamboning our little ice. So we are at intermission. I have a clip to play for you from the Steve Dangle podcast. SDPN Justin Fisher on the SDPN chat says the best part of the graphics are the little circle celebrations after the goals.

00:47:06

Yeah. Easily, the best part of the graphics is when all the players, they start celebrating. It's like, woo. All the all the little circles get together. Oh, and let's watch 1.

00:47:16

Let's watch on the Matt Grislett goal. We're gonna see the circles get together. Look at them. Look Look at the circles get together. So that's fun stuff.

00:47:27

I have a I have a clip from the Steve Dangle podcast to play. So we no. You know what I'm gonna do? I'm gonna play you oh, wow. Steve Dangle.

00:47:40

Oh, Andrew says ice resurfacing machine. Zamboni is a brand name. That's Kleenex and facial tissues. You know? Same thing.

00:47:51

I'm gonna play you Oh, Wow. SDPN has OHL highlight rights. You might not know this, but SDPN has rights to sports, which is sick. So it has allowed us to create our own little weekly highlight show packet that Steve does, I think, once a week, where he does the best plays of the week from the OHL. So I wanna check it's not very long.

00:48:20

It's, like, 6 minutes or so. I'll play that for you in a second. Couple things, though, from this game that we should discuss. 1 thing is a very important comment from Jeff Liberty. Jeff says, time to move Nye's back up to the first line.

00:48:44

I wish Matthew Nye's was up at the first line from the start. Matthews and Marner were great the other night when they were apart, and then Craig Grover threw them in together against Nashville. They scored all of the goals against Nashville, and then they won the game. That caught Nashville off by surprise because Matthews and Marner weren't supposed to play together that game. They weren't played together on the first line, and then they got put together.

00:49:15

I think when you start with them together, you lose that element of surprise for sure, but they get into their little groove, and they're not as dynamic. It's better to keep Matthews and Marner apart and then deploy them together as your little secret weapon. That's what I wanna see with Matthews and Marner is they get together when you absolutely need a goal, and it's on them to go score that goal. I think, ideally, it's Nies, Matthew, Nylander. We have already been this.

00:49:49

Nies, Matthews, Nylander. And then on the second line, it's Patches, Tavares, Marner. That is what I want. That is what I want them to go back to. If anybody wants to see the Zambonis oh, Robert dropped, this link in there.

00:50:07

Those are the Zambonis. They are going. They are doing stuff. They are having fun. We are at intermission here.

00:50:15

I'm in a oh, we gotta chat before, I play the video. The milkshake factory makes a milkshake for Rust when he scores the shake as half off. They used to do it for Jake, but then he was no way. That's so cool. That is so cool that they have just a milk a local milkshake for Brian Rust?

00:50:43

That's awesome. Shout out Milkshake Factory for the local milkshake for Brian Rust. Robert Bet, 5 bucks says, Matt, thank you. First of all, thank you. Matthews taught Crosby to use the boards for a goal.

00:50:58

I don't think Matthews taught Crosby a thing in his entire life. He is Sydney Crosby. He does not need tips from Austin Matthews. Alright. Let's get to commercial break here.

00:51:11

We're gonna go off with a little hype from Austin Matthews. I'm gonna play Crab People.

00:51:18

Crab People. Crab People.

00:51:20

And then Auston Matthews is gonna get out here with his Crab People, and we are going to oh, wow. Steve Dangle's highlight tape of the best plays from the OHL this week.

00:51:35

I do wanna mention too. We mentioned this toggle

00:51:38

you again. Hello, friends. Steve Dangle here, and welcome to another edition of oh, wow, where we take a look at the best plays from around the Ontario Hockey League over the past week. This week also very good but there is a clear theme hockey is a team sport. We all know that but these are solo efforts and they're fantastic.

00:51:59

Why don't we start with Cole Brown of the Brantford Bulldogs? He's having a great season so far.

00:52:05

Back into actions. Bulldogs control the puck. Brown makes a move to the net, gets around, and scores. Power move by Cole Brown. Opens the scoring at Oshawa.

00:52:21

Oh, wow. Apparently, his season got a little better. In 2023, Cole Brown was a 6th round draft pick of the New Jersey devils' 164th overall. His career high in goals is 17, his career high in points is 42, and he's on track to blow those totals out of the water. With 12 goals and 21 points in just 26 games so far this season, this kid is 6 foot 3 doing this.

00:52:44

I don't know. I'm just not terribly sure how you're supposed to stop that. And I love the internal competition here because his teammate Nick Lardis was on oh wow last week. Again, you can check that video out on this YouTube channel. Cole Brown absolutely slicing and dicing his way through the Oshawa generals.

00:53:01

And then the little bowling ball celebration at the end for good measure, Cole Brown. Oh wow. For our next highlight, not everything is a solo effort. After all, it's a team sport and sometimes you need a little helping hand. Sometimes you need a little absolute laser beam up the ice down the middle for a breakaway And that leads to a goal and a lesson.

00:53:22

I learned something I didn't know before because I always thought the world's largest nickel was in Sudbury, Ontario. It turns out it plays in London. Here's William Nickel.

00:53:30

I know the kamesh played a little football on his day too. So, oh, I don't know about that. Buck is gonna be playing here by the London Knights through the middle. Nice pass. Here's Nickel coming in back.

00:53:41

He scores. William Nickel sliding it through, and it's 1 nothing London Knights. What a play. Nicholl picking up his 9th goal of the season opening up the scoring.

00:53:58

Oh wow. How about 2024 for William Nicol? First he helps the London knights win yet another ohl championship. Not long after that he gets drafted into the NHL by the Edmonton Oilers 7th round a 194th overall. And forget pace he's already blown his own Ontario Hockey League personal bests out of the water.

00:54:17

Last year in 65 games, the forward had 6 goals. He's already got 10. Last year, he had 14 assists. Now he's got 17. Last year, he had 20 points.

00:54:25

Now he's got 27. In 27 games. That currently has him 4th on the London knights in scoring but the guys ahead of him are ridiculous. Sam Dickinson, 1st round pick to the San Jose Sharks. Denver Barkey, 3rd round pick to the Philadelphia Flyers.

00:54:38

Easton Cowan, 1st round pick to the Toronto Maple Leafs. That's it. It was a really nice pass to to start this off but sometimes when you get an opportunity, a golden opportunity, doesn't mean you're not gonna choke. Finishing off what started matters and this tuck 5 hole. Oh wow.

00:54:55

For a next highlight, the Peterborough Petes were on the receiving end of that last goal. I don't think they liked that very much. How about we go to a different Peterborough Petes game? This time with them taking on the Niagara ice dogs and oh, wow. Gavin Bryant goes end to end not just against any team but his former team.

00:55:12

I can sit ahead here and his he played by Gavin Bryant. The puck was bouncing on him a little bit. He gets it to settle. Here he goes over the blue, going wide, heading to the goal. He shoots up, rebound scores.

00:55:26

Gavin Bryant, the former ice dog on the power play, closes the gap. It's a 3 2 hockey game.

00:55:35

Oh, yeah. No. That's pretty good. Gavin Bryant, the Ingersoll, Ontario native like forget a lead pass, you know forget a tic tac toe a 2 on 1 whatever. How about I just carve through everyone on the other team like a thanksgiving turkey?

00:55:50

That requires so much adapting on the fly not to mention he was stopped on the initial shot and then stuck with it and got the rebound. Gavin Bryant, are you kidding me, dude? Oh, wow. And for a final highlight, Niagara, I'm so sorry but we're not finished with you. The Flint firebirds take flight, specifically Jeremy Martin.

00:56:12

Off in on the forecheck. Mania with the pass, driving all the way through and scoring a beautiful goal. Jeremy Martin has his 4th of the season and 3rd in 5 games. Flint leads 1 nothing. Woah.

00:56:32

Wow. That's that's not even just cutting through your opponents like butter late like finessing and everything. That that power cutting around and driving the net. So here I was thinking I like Jeremy Martin because he's from my current hometown of ajax. No, I think I like him for this stuff too.

00:56:47

Guys I think Jeremy Martin likes to hang on to the puck because right now Jeremy is just 17 years old but he already has a full season in the OHL under his belt. He was with Flint last year. He played 64 games with Flint and put up 13 goals as a 16 year old. That's pretty good. But this made me laugh.

00:57:05

In those 64 games, 1 assist. This year, forget it. All bets are off. He's already up to 3. And dude, I'm not even poking fun at the guy because if you can do that, if you can do what you just saw, why would you ever pass it?

00:57:18

This is nasty, nasty stuff. Jeremy Martin. Oh, wow. That was this week's edition of Oh, wow. As always, please give us a like and please give us a subscribe.

00:57:30

But most importantly, comment down below if there was a play from the Ontario Hockey League this past week, if it was a game you watched on TV, online, or even in person, and there was a play that you think we missed, let us know and we'll see if we can get it in next week. This week was all goals. What about a save? Was there a big save? Was there a big hit?

00:57:51

Heck, this is oh, wow. It's not o goal scoring. It could be anything you want it to be. So let us know with a comment down below. But for now, that is it for this edition of Oh, Wow.

00:58:02

Thank you very much for watching. Click like if you like this video. Click subscribe if you really liked it. Tell all your friends, stop sleeping on the Ontario Hockey League, buddy. It's good stuff.

00:58:26

Thank you, Steve Dangle. Thank you. Thank you for oh, wow. The OHL highlight tape that you create each and every week. Alright.

00:58:39

So we got a chat here from Canadian girl 83. Let me send out this, this tweet. Come watch the final 2 periods with me. Post. Oh, that was on blue sky.

00:58:52

Same thing. Alright. Canadian girl 83 writes I gotta get comfy and situated. With the OHL on your side, what are the chances you can do stuff for the Memorial Cup? It would be awesome to see the young kids from all 3 major junior leagues here.

00:59:15

That's the plan. Like, we got the OHL to let us use the highlight rights for Oh, Wow, which is the the absolute greatest thing they could ever do. It's so awesome. So now it's about getting the other ones on board. It's about getting, the entire league, all of the leagues, I should say, onboard, and, hopefully, being a place where you can see all the junior highlights, you know, across the country.

00:59:47

So that'll be cool. It's definitely in the works If we hopefully just do a great job with the OHL, you know, the dub, we'll see it and be like, we need that. We need a wow. We need, dub wow. Wow wow.

01:00:02

W wow. Wow wow. And then the q, the QAJHL. We'll see it and be like, we need Q Wow. Then we'll have Q Wow.

01:00:14

So that'll be fun. We'll see. We'll see how it goes. And then we'll need n c double wow. N c double wow hockey.

01:00:24

That'll be the next thing. And then I'm trying to think. We'll, we'll keep expanding from there. We are a couple minutes away here from the second period. Focal Players TV says, I just joined stream.

01:00:43

Where is Steve? Steve is in Ottawa at his book signing. He is at his book signing all day, and then we are in Kingston tomorrow. So he's staying in Ottawa, having a big old time hanging out in the nation's capital. So we could not be on the stream today, and that is why you get myself and the crab people.

01:01:06

Crab people. Crab people.

01:01:10

Also, Steve doesn't have dancing chickens. Bubby says, will Steve eat a ghost pepper on the podcast as punishment for his take on hot take a palooza 2? Well, Bubby, you have to wait until hot take a palooza 3, which is coming up in 3 weeks. Hot take a palooza 3 should come out on the 20 7th or 25th. Christmas or, like, the next day or the next show, that 27th or something like that.

01:01:53

Somewhere in there, 25th or 27th, I'm pretty sure, you're gonna find out if Steve has to pay for the crimes he committed in hot take a palooza 2, where he said that he would eat a ghost pepper if a goalie ever signed for over $10,000,000. And what did we have? We had Igor Shesterkin yesterday well, today, actually, technically, the contract was finalized. Igor Shesterkin is being paid $11,500,000. So Steve might have to pay for his crimes.

01:02:28

We will see how that goes. I don't actually don't want him to eat a ghost pepper, but, like, he might not have a choice. We'll see. We'll see. The Zambonis are still on the ice.

01:02:41

As you can see here, virtual Zambonis are on the ice. They're they're cleaning up here. Oh, they're going down the center. That's how you know they're wrapping up. They're going down the middle.

01:02:55

They're at the the ends. They're at the end of the the cleanup, and then they should drive off, and we should be starting the 2nd period any second now. Justin says do it the 27th because he can't die on Christmas Day. It is prerecorded, so he will not be dying on Christmas Day. Stranger Radio says, I feel like the cue would be something like qwadduq.

01:03:28

Quadduq. Quadduq. That's good. That's good. Ed says, don't let him off the hook.

01:03:37

Keep some 4.5% milk handy, though. Yeah. We need Adam Adam once ate a ghost pepper. I don't know if like, any OG Steve Dangle podcast fans remember that? I don't remember what Adam lost.

01:03:55

Like, what punishment he lost. But Adam once ate a ghost pepper at 1 of our live shows, and it absolutely destroyed his stomach. It was at it was at a bar on King Street. We had a live show there, and I forget what punishment Adam like, what he did to earn that, but he had to eat a ghost pepper. And he actually, like, ate it really it was good.

01:04:23

Like, he downed it, and everything was kinda fine, and he survived. It was good. So it's possible. It's possible to survive the ghost pepper eating. We are underway in period number 2.

01:04:34

They have finally dropped the puck. 50, 49, 48, 47, 46, 45, 44, 43, 42, 41. If you would like to sync up with me, that is what is on my screen here that I am watching in front of me. Mitch Marner goes offside at 1934. That just happened for me.

01:04:59

The the scoreboard next to me on the screen and the graphic there is from nhl.com, so it's a little ahead of what I'm actually watching. I don't really watch it like I have the screen of the game there, so I'm looking at that. But that's up for you for if you wanna see where we're or if you wanna see the score, if you wanna see, the shots here, which are on your screen and who scored. We got all that fun stuff there on the screen. And you can see who's on the ice there.

01:05:30

I don't know. It's a little small to make out the actual lines. Let me I can even zoom in. Does zoom in work? No.

01:05:36

Zoom in doesn't really work. I can make it bigger. But, yeah, there's everybody who's on the ice. They don't move, but that's who's on the ice. You can score there in a little time there so you can kinda half sync with what I'm watching.

01:05:46

We have a couple questions here in the chat. I will get to you momentarily as we see the leaves get some pressure in the zone. There's Willie working the puck. Back to the blue line. Over to Myers.

01:05:58

Meyer with a slapper that goes wide. Willie gets the puck again, sends it back around. Nies tries to play it. Nies gets it blocked. The penguins get the puck.

01:06:08

No. They don't. Matthew Nies maintains possession. There's a shot there, and there's a delayed penalty coming up. Leafs get the extra man on the ice.

01:06:21

There's Matthews out there. Marner's out there. 6 on 5 right now. They are trying to get this goal with the extra man, but the Penguins touched the puck there. We have a couple of chats.

01:06:39

Wes McCauley, Leafs, Leafs. Steve Dangle's favorite referee makes the call. Interference is the call. Yeah. Tavares got shoved to the ground for absolutely no reason by Chris Letang.

01:06:53

Robert Betts says, out of u 3, who's the head coach, GM, and star player? I'll take GM because I GM the most in NHL video games and NHL 25. I am the general manager. Adam's more the head coach, and Steve Dangle, of course, his name is on the show and on the network name, has to be the star player. So I'll be the GM.

01:07:21

Adam's the head coach, and Steve is the star. I feel like that's that's pretty accurate. Next up, we got Cassie. 137 here left in the power play for the Leafs. They haven't gotten a shot yet on this power play.

01:07:35

They're still working the puck around, doing the extra pass. Mitch Marner's got it up top. Slow pass to Matthews. Come on, guys. Some urgency would be nice.

01:07:44

Puck goes off a skate. Matthews plays it in the corner. Still no urgency from this power play. Mitch passes it over to Tavares in the middle from Willie. That was a nice play, but not effective.

01:07:59

Here's Austin with the shot short side. Can't get anything through. There's Mitch Willie. 1 timer Willie. That is a power play goal for your Toronto Maple Leafs.

01:08:22

That is a goal for your Leafs to tie up the game. Let's get the dancing animal squad out here. My goodness. What a slapper there from Willie doing his best Alexander Ovechkin impression. William Nylander gets the 2nd goal of the game for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

01:08:54

At 728 of the second period, it is all tied up. That's William Nylander from Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews on the power play. Chris Lettag, can't be taking those penalties. You're smarter than that. That's what happens when you take bad penalties.

01:09:24

Cassie, I have to get your chat. $5 from Cassie. Thank you, Cassie. I play the goal horn 1 more time. There's the goal horn.

01:09:34

Cassie said, if the Penn score in the first 3 minutes of the second, Penn's fans got free Big Macs. It's another fun little thing that Penns do since you like the shakes. Yeah. No. I love those little giveaways.

01:09:47

That that's, that's a lot of fun stuff for the the audience in attendance. We have a bunch of gifted subs. Let me run through the chat that's just happened while we had that giant Willy goal. It was pee pee time. The big max is a lot of fun.

01:10:05

And Cassie, thank you. We have 5 gifted memberships from Canadian Girl 83. Thank you. Much appreciated. If you received a gifted membership.

01:10:26

Oh, Justin Fisher also gifted that membership. Thank you, Justin Fisher. Thank you, Justin. That's awesome. Sarah says, go, Das.

01:10:44

Go. Yeah. If you're not familiar with what I'm streaming, these little guys, they're a part of the dancing animal squad. They didn't get their formal introductions today. They just kinda showed up and said, everybody already knows us, but welcome.

01:10:57

Welcome to the show, dancing animal squad. I'm glad that Willie's goal got to bring you out so you could all do your little jigs there. They are the doss. If you if you were gifted a membership if you were gifted a membership, thank the person who gifts you a membership. It is your obligation to be a nice Canadian and say thank you.

01:11:31

Leonard, I'm glad you like the animals. Leonard, air horn's for you. Ah, they're, they're air horn round of applause? No? Ghoul horn?

01:11:42

There's Ghoul horn for you, Leonard. My air horn button. There it is. Ah, I just need a just need a little bit of time to reset. It wasn't reset after the last time I hit it.

01:11:54

We are back. We are back with the air horn button. Now I know what I would have done without the air horn button. Whole livestream would have been ruined. Would have to go home.

01:12:02

Close it off. 1545 here left in the second. If you would like to sync up with what I am watching, 39, 37, 36, 35, 34, 33, 15, 32. 1 left in the second. Oh my goodness.

01:12:23

We cannot stop with the gifted memberships. The squeezable lemon. The squeezable lemon, you get some confetti, and the giraffe wants to do a little jig. Thank you for the 20 gifted memberships. That is awesome stuff.

01:12:42

Here's Khris Hanev with the puck. Nice little shot from the point there by the Leafs. Matthews is working the puck behind the net. Wow. Squeezable 11.

01:12:52

Thank you for the gifted memberships. Much appreciated. The pens are trying to break out. There's Crosby. Backhands it in into the zone.

01:13:01

We've had so much happen. First 5 minutes of this second. All the chaos. If you received a gifted membership from the squeezable lemon, you owe them a thank you. You owe them a thank you.

01:13:18

Say thank you. Delayed penalty here coming up on the Toronto Maple Leafs. Ryan Reese tuss the buck. The penalty is on Max Patcher ready. Craig Verube.

01:13:33

Craig Verube. Okay. We're gonna watch this. Oh, come on. What?

01:13:52

No. Roughing call on Max Patch already? Letang bumped into him. Chris Letang bumped into Max Patch already, and Patch already then, like, okay. Get out of my way.

01:14:13

And he gets the roughing call? What is that? What is that garbage? What a save by Joseph Wall. Oh my goodness.

01:14:29

Joseph Wall with the NHL video game level save there, reaching behind himself to knock the puck away. My goodness. Joseph, well, I need a replay of that 1. Wow. A lot a lot has gone on in this second.

01:14:52

I can't keep up. Okay. First of all, Craig Barube, minute 15 left in the pens power, but Craig Barube, after Matt Speth already gets called for the weakest call in the history of planet Earth, says the biggest and the most blatant f I can't I don't swear on these streams. F u to the refs or f off, I should say, f off to the refs. They're showing the wall.

01:15:21

Save now. 1st replay of it, and we gotta time it. Oh my goodness, Joseph Hall. What a play. What a play to reach around and save that beautiful stuff.

01:15:35

Now we got 57 seconds left in the power play here. Leafs are breaking out. There's Mitch Marner. Gets the puck stolen by Sydney Crosby. Great stuff by Joseph Wall there.

01:15:53

Hilarious stuff from Craig Barube. Bad stuff from the referees. Awful call on match batch already. Here's the pens with 30 seconds left here in the power play, trying to do something. Trying to get something going here.

01:16:10

Oh, there's a rebound. Did it go in? Did it go in? It's oh, no. No goal.

01:16:18

No goal. No goal. It's out. Oh my gosh. Joseph Wall doesn't have a stick.

01:16:26

He just picked it up again. The pen's danger. I don't know how that puck stayed out. Oh, there's a big block. Connor Timmons blocks it with his backside.

01:16:42

Another chance. Wall with the save. My goodness, Joseph Wall. What a save there. Now we got a huge scrum in front.

01:17:01

I gotta see a replay of how this puck stayed out of the net. They're showing the replay here. Oh, right. That it was Hayes who hit it right off the post. Point blank off the post.

01:17:26

My goodness. Andrew, Patches came out of the penalty box and drilled someone into the boards. Yeah. Patches was like he was upset. He was stewing.

01:17:39

He was brewing. He was boiling over in the penalty box. And as soon as he got out, he beelined to a Pens player and knocked him on his rear end. What a great start. What a great start to that period.

01:17:59

What a great 8 minutes that was. A bunch of chaos. I don't know how that Hayes shot stayed out. That was great stuff from, Joseph Wall. Round of applause.

01:18:16

Round of applause. Whoo. I need a water break. Water break for sure. If you were gifted a sub, that means you now are a member of SDPVIP, which means you get an extra episode of The Steve Dangle podcast every single week.

01:18:55

We have a lot of fun on that extra episode. You can also sus subscribe to SDP VIP on Spotify or Apple if you choose to sub on those platforms, if you rather listen to podcasts that way as opposed to YouTube. Robert, I missed your chat here, your $5 chat. Thank you, first of all, for sending that in. Robert says, Wes at his best.

01:19:30

Yes. Wes Macauley is at his best when he is bad, and, they are bad. He he that was a bad call. We have a power play here. Out of all of that I'm gonna check.

01:19:45

What do we got? Oh, Max Patcharetti roughing is the call. Are you kidding me? Oh, boo. That.

01:20:09

That's bad. That's horrible refereeing. Oh my goodness. Ref's trying to hand the Pens another goal. The Pens go back to the power play here, but the Leafs have already killed off the first 30 seconds.

01:20:24

I have a couple of chats to go to get to. 1 from James, but we got Nies here on a little 1 on 1 break. There's a little spin back. Beautiful play. Around the back of the net, killing so much time.

01:20:41

Matthew Nies, how can you not love him? Sends it back to his G, goes for the change, Matthew Nies. Wow. Here's Olverg now on a break. Trapping.

01:20:56

Wow. What a little sequence there. Shorthanded by the Leafs. Oh my goodness. Let's discuss this.

01:21:04

So first thing we get, Matthew Nye's, beautiful penalty killing. Goes back to his own zone, works it around the back of the net, sends it back out to the d, goes for a change, kills so much time. Holmberg does the same thing. Does a little backwards dipsy doodle in front of the defenseman, Eric Carlson, draws a penalty while shorthanded. Holmberg, nice.

01:21:29

Expert penalty healing. Beautiful stuff out of your Toronto Maple Leafs. I loved that sequence. That was a beautiful sequence by the Leafs. James, first time watching 1 of your streams, Jesse.

01:21:45

You've seen lots of Adam in Steve. Wanted to say love your energy, man, and the sound effects sound effects make it s tier. James, you get a little confetti for the very kind words. Thank you, James. There's a little sound effects and visual effects for you.

01:22:01

Some confetti. Thank you for the $5, James. Long honk says dutiful ad advising those gifted new VIP memberships that the holding space VIP episode is still excellent to enjoy it after and to enjoy it after this stream. Yes. Long hong says, go enjoy the Holding Space VIP episode.

01:22:24

It is a very good 1. So if you were gifted a membership, go watch that 1. It is a very good episode. I a 100% agree. West became a member level SDP VIP.

01:22:38

West, thank you for that. Here we go. 7 seconds left at 4 on 4. We're about to get the penalty. We're about to start the power play for the Toronto Maple Leafs here.

01:22:50

They get 1 minute on the clock. They are 1 for 1. We had the Willie 1 timer on the first power play opportunity for the Leafs. In half the amount of time, let's see if the Toronto Maple Leafs can do something with the man advantage. Let's see if we can do something here, Toronto.

01:23:15

Back up to Marner up at the top. Willie's working it around the back. They send it out front. Jarri makes a save. Pucks out front, but the Pens clear.

01:23:24

Great little chance there by the Leafs. You're not gonna really get more than that with the minute they had, and they didn't really start with the puck when the minute started in this power play, but that's okay. They got that good chance. Here's Tavares over to Marner, over to Willie, over to Marner, over to Matthews, over to Marner who misses it, and it goes the other way. Oh my goodness.

01:23:51

Here go the pens. 2 on 1 shot. Joseph Wall save. That's why we have the big wall in net. Steezen Schiller says listening to the stream in the background at work, holding space for the crab people.

01:24:07

Thank you for holding space. Yes. Holding space for the crab people. The crab emoji is our hype emote. If you're not familiar with my streams, that is where the term crab people comes from.

01:24:22

The crab emoji is our hype emote. So you drop a bunch of crab emojis in the chat. When do you wanna get hype? We have 5 gifted memberships from James. James, thank you.

01:24:37

Much appreciated. There's little air horns for you because you are an absolute gem for gifting those 5 memberships. And, Cassie, Penn still have the worst goal differential in the league. Minus 29. Oh my good is that true?

01:24:55

That is just that is so bad. Last season, I believe, they also had, 1 of the worst goal differentials, and, it's still going. Thank you for all the crabs in the chat. It's beautiful stuff. You love you absolutely love to see it.

01:25:14

We should, we should take a look at the NHL standings next commercial break we get. Look at some of the NHL stats. We're gonna do a little run around the league here. Those are shot on goal by Sydney Crosby, saved by Joseph Wall. Timmins trying to play the puck.

01:25:35

Can't quite get it. Joseph Wall is not gonna play the puck. Back to Timmins. Little sloppy play by the Leafs there. 22 game.

01:25:46

I'm at 717 on my screen. Oh, 2 on 1. Simone Benoit jumping up in the play again, doing that all night long. Penn's now 1 on 2. Myers cuts off the Penn's player, charge into the net.

01:26:02

Great little play there. Here's Tavares. Gets the puck. Knocked off his stick. The Penns go the other way.

01:26:11

Spinback move. Malkin's coming into the zone. Nobody can find him. There's Malkin in the corner getting the puck. Throws it behind the net.

01:26:21

O'Connor can't get it up. Tavares steals it. Nice now. Trying to get out of the zone. Gets a little it gets bumped.

01:26:29

Everybody's everybody's trying to do something with the bucket. Nobody can feed it through the neutral zone, but now we have a chance the other way for the Benz and Joseph Wall with the save. Lot of back and forth sloppy hockey here from these 2 teams. You can tell they both played last night. They're not their sharpest here.

01:26:52

Can have entering the zone a little slower here for the Leafs after all of that chaos. I can't look away at all. So much is happening. Mitch Marner sends the puck behind the net. Austin trying to work it around.

01:27:09

Austin over to Marner on goal there. Jari save. Finally. Finally. A stoppage in play.

01:27:23

Let's catch up on the chats here. Steason Schiller. Jesse, the people demand a boom or a doom for crab people, gripper nation, and the dangle maybe. So if you're not familiar with the Costco guys and the Rizzler, go listen to the SDP VIP episode where we broke it all down. But I'm gonna give the crab people a boom, and I'm gonna give gripper nation a boom, and and I'm gonna give dangle navy a boom.

01:28:04

That's 3 booms for the crappy, old gripper nation and dangle navy. There you go. Alright. Let's check-in with the league standings here. We got the Toronto Maple Leafs.

01:28:22

I wanna do the wild card view. This is this is much better. So 1 thing about the Atlantic division is year after year, it never changes. It will always be the absolute same. Toronto, Florida, Boston.

01:28:36

Toronto's tied with Florida here, but less games played, so they're ahead in points percentage. Minus 12 goal differential for the Boston Bruins, but they're still 3rd in the Atlantic. The Caps, Devils, Hurricanes are the metro leaders. They're all every top 3 team in the metro has more points than everyone in the Atlantic? Carolina, who's 3rd in the metro, has more points than the division leading Toronto Maple Leafs.

01:29:13

That's why the league needs to go back to conference seating 1 through 8. What is this nonsense? This is nonsense. So the 2 wildcard spots are held down by the Rangers and the Lightning. The Pittsburgh Penguins in this game are currently 2 points out of the 2nd wild card, but all the way down here.

01:29:36

And as Cassie mentioned, a minus 29 goal differential. Let's get back to the game here. And then our next break, we will do the eastern or the Western Conference standings. Alright. We have a chat here from Robert Bette.

01:30:01

Thank you, Robert. Appreciate it. After watching all the Leafs games this year and some of the pens this year, a game where both teams can say, what the hell was that? Oh, the I'm I'm not reading this way. After watching all the Leafs games this year and sum of the pens, this is a game where both teams can say, what the hell was that?

01:30:24

Yeah. Yeah. This is a this is like a garbage game. Like, you can take away the efforts from some of these players, and, like, I loved what I saw in the least power play, that first 1 with Willie capitalizing and that minute they had. Like, they showed some great stuff.

01:30:38

But there's not a whole bunch. I would like, I wouldn't take giant narratives away. I love what I see the energy out of Patcha Reddy. I love what I see out of the no. There's a lot.

01:30:49

No. No. I've taken quite a bit from the from the Leafs' efforts. But in terms of the play and the the cleanness, the crispness of their passes and their zone entries, not a lot you can take away because second night of a back to back with travel. But in terms of the efforts, Holmberg's effort, loving it.

01:31:11

Nylander Alex Nylander's effort, loving it. Minton's been perfect on 3 c. And like I said, nice. Beautiful stuff on that penalty kill. We're at a TV time out here at 436.

01:31:23

Let's go over to the Western Conference standings. Oh, we also have a chat from Michael. That's very important because we need to make Michael commit to the bid. Michael wrote, if Jesse responds, I'll drive from Anchorage, Alaska to North Pole, Alaska. Now, Michael, you said it in the chat.

01:31:57

You said it in the chat. That means you gotta do it. You gotta do it. I'm responding. I'm saying do it and prove it.

01:32:09

So do it. Go to another poll. Say hi to Santa for us. Say hi to all the little elves who are getting ready for the 25th. Or say hi to the reindeer.

01:32:18

You said it. You gotta do it. I responded. Alright. We also got from Doug Lee Phan I guess next next break, we'll take take a look at the standings.

01:32:27

So we got another shout out we gotta do. Doug Lee Phan, can I get a birthday shout out to my wife, Laura Lee Phan? Laura, happy birthday. Now I reserve the goal music for goals only, but what tonight will be the only exception. Laura, happy birthday.

01:32:53

Little confetti for your birthday. I hope you are having a wonderful time. Happy birthday, Laura, from me and STPN and all of the crap people in the chat. Doug Lee Doug Lee Phan, that is for your beautiful wife, Laura. There you go.

01:33:13

Alright. Back to the game. They're about to drop the puck here at 436. I got the standings up. Let me just go back to the game there so you can see the score and all the fun stuff.

01:33:24

436 here. Left in the second well, 425, 24, 23, 22, 21, if you wanna sync up with what I am watching. The 4th line is out there for the Leafs. Reeves laying the body. I think that was on Carlson.

01:33:52

Right? Benoit with a little shot that stopped by Tristan Jari. Jari holds the puck at 357. After a very eventful middle of the second period, we have slowed down here with a few minutes to go in the second, and things have been a little calmer on both sides as Tristan Jari covers the puck for a face off. Reeves was really trying to work in front of the net there.

01:34:37

Reeves is a really big dude. So I have we SDPN has credentials for the Toronto Maple Leafs this season, and I am the representative to go down to the Toronto Maple Leafs games and talk to the players and watch the games from the press box and look at practice and all that fun stuff. And Ryan Reeves is a gigantic human being. It it cannot be understated that he is an absolute monster. And I would be scared if I were to go up against that man in any kinda Netfront battle, because you're not gonna have the size to compete.

01:35:19

Maybe you can have, like, more of a diverse skill set to to twist and turn out of the way. But in terms of pure size and strength, you're not doing much against Ryan Reeves. Cassie says in the chat, $5. Thank you for the donation in the question. Cassie says, I already asked Steve and Adam any food recommendations for when I take my trip to Toronto.

01:35:51

I can also use more stuff to do if you have any suggestions. As a hockey fan, you have to visit the Hockey Hall of Fame. Like, I think that's a must, visiting a hockey hall of fame. So you're down there by Front Street trying to think about foods. I'm not the best with with food stuff because my food, like, what I eat is so simple.

01:36:18

We gotta stop here at 2:43 of 2nd. I'm trying to think. Do the hockey LFA. Do the generic Toronto tourism stuff or go to Dundas Square. It's, like, alright.

01:36:38

It's our version of Times Square, but it's, like, not great. It's like a mini bad version, but you gotta see it because you're in Toronto. Walk in the Eaton Center, for sure, when you're on your way to Dundas Square. Go there. Take a picture of 1 of the billboards.

01:36:54

Go to the CN Tower. Definitely do the CN Tower, but don't pay to go to the aquarium. I wouldn't I wouldn't pay to go to the aquarium. I would just if you wanna go up the tower, yeah, that's worth it. Go up the tower, but don't go to the aquarium.

01:37:09

Don't go to Ripley's. The shot there by the pens trying to think of any walk along Queen Street. If it's not a snowy day, walk from Young and Queen, walk west all the way down to, like, I'm trying like, Queen and Shaw even, if you wanna walk that far. And then you'll just hit a whole bunch of shopping down there. That'll be fun.

01:37:38

If if you just walk along there, you'll find so many nice restaurants. If you just walk from, like, Queen through Queen and Young through Queen and Shaw, like, you'll run into so many little little restaurants that, like, you don't even need a recommendation. Just go in there. Hit up Ossington. If you do walk along Queen, go to Queen and Ossington, and then just eat anywhere in at Ossington.

01:37:59

Like, on Ossington. That would be my biggest food recommendation. Here's a little scramble in front. Morgan Riley might have just saved the goal. What just happened there with the puck in front?

01:38:15

They missed it on the broadcast. Okay. So face off, the shot. Oh my goodness. The puck was just sitting there.

01:38:28

Oh my gosh. The puck is just sitting there next to Joseph Wuhl. Nobody taps it in. Thank goodness. McCassy, my recommendation to you, go to Queen in Ossington.

01:38:41

Walk north along Ossington. Find any place in there and go eat. Loose in front. Leafs can't jam at home. Tavares here with the puck in the corner.

01:38:53

Turns around, sends it to the point. Little Nylander with a slapshot from the point that's blocked. Minute 21, 20, 19, 18 left here in the 2nd period. Both teams with now chances in front where the puck was kinda loose, but they couldn't jam it home. 1 minute left on my screen in the second period here.

01:39:27

Low chance for the pens. Oh, big hit. That was Latang who got knocked down. 43 seconds here. Sends it in front.

01:39:43

The Pens do. They can't complete the pass, though. Believe that was Tanev who blocked it. Gets the puck out of there. Little late charge here for the Penguins late in this period with 30 seconds left.

01:39:55

Crosby's out there. Tanev gets in the way, busts up the play. I'm worried about a goal happening right now. Oh my gosh. There's another shot from the pens.

01:40:05

Everybody hold on to your butts for these last 15 seconds. The pens might capitalize here. Okay. Okay. Things have calmed down a little.

01:40:16

It's still in the it's finally out of the zone. Okay. There we go. Little anxious moments there to end that second period. Sip of water here.

01:40:45

Wes, who's been an SGP VIP member for 5 months, says Alex Nylander, game winning goal, calling it now. That would be incredible. That would be absolutely incredible. Entire Pizza says, agreed. Aquarium is waste of money.

01:41:05

Not worth the price at all. Yeah. The aquarium, unfortunately, I think, is a tourist trap. Ripley's. Oh, okay.

01:41:13

So phoenix r a r h phoenix 5 says aquarium is worth it if you get the CN Tower CN Tower Aquarium double ticket. Much cheaper. Yeah. If you can get the aquarium cheap, then it's worth it. But just regular aquarium price, uh-uh.

01:41:28

Yeah. My big food recommendation would be walk up Ossington. Go to CN Tower. Go to the Hockey Hall of Fame. Obviously, see a Leafs game.

01:41:38

Yeah. Those would be my main things. I think we're doing good. I think we're doing good in the chat. Also, a lot of great recommendations in the chat here.

01:41:48

Good stuff. Canadian girl, 83. I think I missed this. I did miss this. This second period is brought to you by the Toronto Tourism Board.

01:41:57

In all seriousness, though, I hope Cassie has an awesome trip. We all do. We all hope Cassie has an awesome trip up here to Canada to Toronto. Whether you're a Toronto Maple Leafs club. Okay.

01:42:15

I have another clip to play from the Steve Dangle podcast. So, let's do our standings check-in. So I'm gonna get this back up on the screen. Let's do a standings check-in with the Western Conference because we did the East. Any more notes from the Eastern Conference there?

01:42:41

The Montreal Canadians, I don't think they expected to be in last, but they're last. The Red Wings, oh, they definitely didn't expect to be 2nd last in the East. And the Ottawa Senators and Buffalo Sabers, like, this was supposed to be your take a step season. They're not doing it. The steps have not been taken.

01:43:04

In the West, the Wild and the Jets are just slugging it out for 1st. Unbelievable stuff. 18 4 and 4 versus 28. They both have 40 points on the year in the central there. Vegas Golden Knights, though, shouldn't be left out of the conversation of best teams in the league.

01:43:23

They have 39 points on the year, 18, 7, and 3. The Kings have won 4 in a row sneakily. They're having a underrated season. The Calgary Flames currently sit in a playoff spot, which I think is to the surprise of most people. Blackhawks way down in last in the entire league.

01:43:46

These are the league standings, the bottom of the league teams. Chicago, Nashville, Montreal. Oh, what's going on in Nashville? They cannot get it going. Scores from around the leagues, from around the league.

01:43:59

Canadians, 2 1 over the caps right now who played the least last night, 1. Ottawa beating up on the preds. The preds might lose again. Oh my gosh. You lose to Toronto.

01:44:12

You lose to Montreal. Now you're losing to Ottawa. Awful stuff. Avalanche up 21 on the Red Wings. No surprise there.

01:44:21

Kings up 1 nothing on the very good Minnesota Wild, and then we got the Bruins who beat the Flyers in a comeback victory earlier today. They were down 2 nothing. They were down 21, came all the way back to win it in overtime. The Utah Hockey Club defeated the Buffalo Sabers after, the Sabers GM said there's it's difficult to get players to come there. The Buffalo Sabers suck.

01:44:45

They continue to suck. Jets won against the Blackhawks. Islanders beat the Hurricanes surprisingly, and the Panthers beat up on the Sharks. The Sharks, who've been hot as of late, could not beat the shark, could not beat the Panthers who had 53 shots on goal. Oh my goodness.

01:45:04

Oh my goodness. Alright. Let's get back to at least I'm here. Let's get back to your chats. Let's pull this up here.

01:45:18

We got we have I'm trying to go through all the chats, make sure I don't miss them before we go to intermission break. James says, Cassie, if you're coming during the summer, I dare you to do the edge walk. Yeah. Cassie, if you ever wanna come back during the summer, there's a thing called the CN Tower edge walk where you walk literally you're they fasten you in, obviously. You're in a harness, but you stand on the edge of the CN Tower, which is absolutely insane.

01:45:44

It's called the edge walk. Cassie says, for my job, I mean, but that'll be after my trip. Oh, got a new contract, so I'll be in a new state for my job, but that'll be after my trip. Well, congrats on the move. I hope everything goes smooth.

01:46:01

Cassie also said, thanks. I'll be at 2 Leafs games, CN Tower and Hockey Hall of Fame. Cassie, you should also, maybe we'll meet you at 1 of them. I'll be I'll be at the Leafs game. So, Cassie, I can definitely meet you.

01:46:14

I'm at every home Leafs game with our credentials. So, Cassie, maybe I'll see you there. We also got a couple more chants here. Let's go to intermission before it's too late. We got a poll that said, who are you repping tonight?

01:46:35

Crab people 45%. That is a good place to hit the intermission button. I'm hitting the crab people button, which is our hype emoji.

01:46:44

Crab people. Crab people.

01:46:47

Make sure you press your crab emoji on your keyboard and hit it into the chat if you want to get hype. I'm about to play a clip from the Steve Dangle podcast where we talk about the Chicago Blackhawks and how awful they are. Here we go. I'll be back right after this for the 3rd period. Do wanna mention too,

01:47:07

we mentioned the Chicago Blackhawks. Luke Richardson do wanna mention too, we mentioned the Chicago Blackhawks. Luke Richardson, has been fired. And, you know, this comes on the heels of a game that I saw beginning of the week, Toronto Maple Leafs, 1 of Luke Richardson's last games as a coach. Who knew?

01:47:28

And I thought it was really interesting, Mark Lazarus' take on this, guys. And I wanted to hear what you thought, because I thought he just was blistering about the state of the Chicago Blackhawks right now. And this is midway through the article, and he says, the Blackhawks are unwatchable. And we don't mean boring. Though the Bedard novelty is wearing off and the roster is loaded with stopgap veterans who are essentially just passing through merely laundry for fans to root for.

01:47:53

No. The Blackhawks are literally unwatchable for a huge swath of their fans. For subscribers, the 2 biggest television providers, Comcast and YouTube TV, the hoops you have to jump through in order to watch this team is laughable. You must purchase a set of rabbit ears, and then he puts in brackets, rabbit ears in 2014. You must have a room with a window that faces downtown Chicago.

01:48:14

Yeah. Not 2014. Oh, sorry. 2024.

01:48:17

Sorry. It's October 7th. You must have a room with a window that faces downtown Chicago. You must have the rabbit ears high on your window somewhere, or you must have a night where it's not too windy or too rainy or too cold or too clear. Who knows?

01:48:33

There's a good chance on any given night that you're going to be looking at something that looks something, that would closely resemble scrambled HBO from the 19 eighties more than a high definition hockey game. Your other legal option is to pay $20 a month to watch the games on your phone or laptop, but the Black Hawk but just the Blackhawks. If you want the Bulls or the White Sox, those high flying can't miss squads, the White Sox are terrible, you'll need to pony up $30 a month. It's gobsmacking.

01:49:03

No. Keep going.

01:49:07

By the way, they're calling him, dollar, they're calling him dollar dollar, there there are dollar Bill Wertz, references going. Remember, Bill Wertz didn't like running games on local television because he thought you wouldn't buy tickets. Mhmm. And interesting, another part of this article that I thought was just fire, is it Luke Richardson's fault that Tyler Bertuzzi has only 2 even strength goals in 26 games or that Tebow Tera Vinen does too?

01:49:32

First time.

01:49:33

Is it is it Richardson's fault that the Blackhawks have been outscored 14 to 6 with TJ Brody on the ice? We could've warned you.

01:49:39

First time?

01:49:40

Philip Kurishchev has fallen in fallen into a well.

01:49:43

I guess they don't get Leafs games in Chicago either.

01:49:45

Well, I'd apparently not. Okay. It's $20 to watch just Blackhawks game. Curacao has fallen into a well, outscored 18 to 3 on 5 on 5. And then here's another 1.

01:49:56

He said maybe it's when Davidson tanked so nakedly, he dealt away Alex de Brincat and let Dylan Strom walk 2 summers ago. Maybe it was that he didn't even offer franchise icons Kane and Taze the chance to resign and usher in the new generation of Blackhawks, a ruthless decision that left many fans cold. And maybe it was the Blackhawks disappeared from most fans' televisions at the start of the season in in the Chicago Sports Network debacle, conjuring up many references to, and I said this already, dollar Bill Wertz. Anyway, not good in Chicago. And here's what I wanna ask.

01:50:28

I wanna ask the panel.

01:50:29

I'm gonna ask the panel. Here's the quiz.

01:50:31

Alright, guys?

01:50:32

I like the quiz.

01:50:33

I like the quiz a lot too.

01:50:34

Yeah. I like it too.

01:50:36

Here's my the quiz. Sorry, Duffy. I'm stealing your bit. What is the real issue here? Because for me, Davidson's just fired his last bullet.

01:50:52

You are the architect of your own disaster here. You have now fired this coach. You fired the previous 1 as well, but he was your guy. Luke Richardson was your guy. What do you expect the next coach to really be able to come in and do here?

01:51:09

And is he next? So it's a good question.

01:51:14

Mhmm. I wanna turn to Jesse, though.

01:51:17

Okay.

01:51:18

Because during our season previews

01:51:21

Yeah. And I'm

01:51:23

not I promise I'm not doing this as

01:51:24

done. No. No. No. No.

01:51:25

Yeah. During our season

01:51:26

wanna say.

01:51:27

Did you I I where did you have the Blackhawks in the central? Do you remember?

01:51:32

I think the 4th at least. 4th. Yeah.

01:51:36

You have them making the playoffs. Yeah. And that was, like, your hot take.

01:51:39

Yeah. I thought I thought their ceiling was 2nd wildcard.

01:51:43

Right.

01:51:44

I thought they had the chances, so I went with the highest possible ceiling that I thought they could hit, which was the 2nd wild card if everything went perfectly.

01:51:51

And and Adam and I didn't have them that high, but we agreed, like, no. Like, I expect them to take a step forward. Yeah. And then by the end of you talking about him, I'm like, jeez. I didn't I didn't put the Blackhawks high enough.

01:52:03

Mhmm.

01:52:04

And that conversation, just remembering that conversation, sort of made me not wanna go down the path of, well, it's the Blackhawks. What did you expect? No. No. No.

01:52:16

We expected them to be better than

01:52:17

this. Mhmm.

01:52:19

Each and every individual has underachieved. So I guess the question I'm posing to you, Jesse, is what has gone wrong? And given that we thought they would be better than this, don't all don't all fingers point at the coaching? Mhmm.

01:52:40

Yeah. No. I think for sure there's a lot of coaching issues when you can't get the best out of Connor Bedard. And at this point in their rebuild, they still shouldn't be going backwards because That's the thing. Did the they did the great thing, which is you're supposed to tank so hard that 1 year you get extremely lucky and you get the big fish.

01:53:04

It's why it's why Buffalo was so upset that they lost the McGuykle draft and they lost the Austin Matthews draft. It's like they stung for so long, and we're like, we're supposed to get 1 of these cars, and we got stuck with fucking Jack Eichel.

01:53:17

And by the way, picked twice or picked, second both drafts and fumbled both of them.

01:53:22

Yeah. They they bungled. They bugged Or no. Michael.

01:53:25

No. Yeah. They bungled Eichel. No. I'm thinking of Reinhart for a draft before.

01:53:28

Yeah.

01:53:28

They they picked second overall 2 years in a row.

01:53:30

How did they both of them.

01:53:31

Mhmm. And then that's why that's why when the Blackhawks tank and you get Bedard and you're like, okay. Last year is your 1st season with Bedard. Obviously, you're gonna keep tanking. But this year was supposed to be the step forward year.

01:53:42

So this offseason, Kyle Davidson goes out, and he makes all these all these moves for all of these vette pieces. And I look at the the vette pieces. I'm like, okay. Reasonable people. You know?

01:53:54

It's you brought in a bunch of guys who might be able to do some stuff. There's now that you see them on the ice, there's obviously a giant lack of scoring and that you have some guys who are, like, on the power play units that shouldn't be on any power play units in the entire NHL.

01:54:09

It'll be on the team.

01:54:10

But the sum of the parts where you said we're not just gonna have a bunch of children out there and AHLers. We're gonna bring in real NHLs and spend some money this off season should have resulted in something better here than just an anemic team who is a pathetic on ice, NHL team who shouldn't be out there. And so it's it's on both. It's on it's on both the head coach for not getting the most out of these guys when your GM did give you something to play with. And it's also on the GM for bad talent evaluation and bringing in these vets that I thought, hey.

01:54:45

If if Calvins is is actually going for something here, there might be something there, but it's all the wrong personnel top to bottom.

01:54:53

The new guys are underachieving. The old guys, which Bedard falls under hilariously, are also under a treat achieving. No one's doing well. Like, are they getting unusable goal tending? They're probably not From Merazek?

01:55:10

The Merazek and soda bomb. Like, I thought I thought

01:55:15

Mrazek has, like, league average potential in him. Yeah. You know? Like, I could see that.

01:55:20

And has been hurt. So there was another 1 of their free agent signings and, like, who knows? Could have been the the conversation was, is it who do you get first? Or Stahlers?

01:55:33

Yes. This offseason.

01:55:35

Yeah. Has been honest to god, 1 of the best goalies in the league so far this season. Mhmm.

01:55:41

And and they play they paid almost a1000000 more for Brissot.

01:55:45

Well, and

01:55:45

and I'm not and I'm not criticizing that move. I'm saying, like, maybe if if that move doesn't, if he doesn't get hurt, maybe all is solved.

01:55:56

Yeah.

01:55:56

I I just did I don't think

01:55:58

And was injured in late August, and he hasn't played hockey. Yeah. You know? It's like you don't bank on that when you sign a free agent for for that amount of money. And and Peter Mrazek has been okay considering the team in front of him.

01:56:11

He has a 905 save percentage.

01:56:12

Mhmm. Which is a buffet.

01:56:13

That's amazing. Which is good. I wanna throw this out to your guys that, you know, I'm looking at their Puckpedia page, and this is such a rough estimate. There's about $40,000,000 in new players per year that have been brought in over the last 2 years. I'm not talking about their full contract value.

01:56:29

I'm talking about their per year, per annum deals.

01:56:32

K.

01:56:32

You're talking about Taylor Hall, Tyler Bertusi, Tevo Teravine, and Nick Folino, Jason Dickenson, Ilya Mikheyev, Donato, I believe. He was not a draft pick there, was he?

01:56:42

No. He wasn't. He's a he's a sorry.

01:56:44

I'm not gonna count count Seth Jones because he was a Bowman guy. Alec Martinez, TJ Brody, and, of course, Laurent Posai. Works out to be about $40,000,000. So this is John this is John Davidson's team.

01:56:55

None of those guys are pillars.

01:56:57

Kyle Davidson's. Kyle Davidson's team. John Davidson's team is the Blue Jackets.

01:57:01

Yes. None of those guys are pillars. Like, Taylor Hall, those days are in the past.

01:57:07

Yep.

01:57:07

Who else is your name? Like, Nick Folino is veteran show the kids the ropes guy. Yeah.

01:57:13

Tyler Bertuzzi and Ciliary Pete. He's he's he's a he's like a Robin.

01:57:18

He's very good complimentary piece.

01:57:20

Yep. Tae Bo Teravainen? Very good complimentary piece. Jason Dickinson?

01:57:26

Good complimentary piece.

01:57:27

Ilya Mikayev?

01:57:28

Complimentary piece.

01:57:30

Khurishev?

01:57:31

Decent complimentary piece.

01:57:33

K. Pat Maroon.

01:57:34

Are we going through the whole lineup?

01:57:35

Like, we're good. For I'm

01:57:37

just talking about players that he's brought in. Right? Like, I'd

01:57:39

Yeah. It's called that.

01:57:40

Veteran. Martinez Brody.

01:57:44

Martina, I was surprised signed there, to be honest. And Brody

01:57:46

Well, because they paid him the same that he got paid in Vegas. He got 4,000,000

01:57:49

Yeah. Alex Martinez also hasn't been good this season. He's been bad. No. Yeah.

01:57:52

And They've all

01:57:53

been bad.

01:57:54

They've all been bad.

01:57:55

Brody might just be cooked.

01:57:56

And I think Brody's Brody's been bad. Like, they've all been bad. And what I think this comes back to is, like, I was I was high on the Blackhawks. I thought they could reach some potential, but you look at the roster and it's not good. And you look at the general manager now, Kyle Davidson, who was the assistant general manager to Stan Bowman for many years before he was appointed, to be GM.

01:58:19

Stan Bowman steps down. He gets he gets the intern tag removed. He gets to be full fledged GM. And 1 thing we talk about with Stan Bowman's end of legacy in Chicago, obviously, the scandal and all this stuff, but Stan Bowman wasn't a great GM, his years post cup in many of the years of And

01:58:37

he didn't draft any other great players that he ended up having.

01:58:40

Now I look at Stan Bowman's tenure, and I'm like, okay. After after the cup stuff, he wasn't great. And then this is the arrow point, the arrow point. And what is what is the phrase? The way Air apparent.

01:58:52

Air apparent. Sorry. To Stan Bowman. Maybe Cal Davidson learned from a guy who wasn't very good at his job. And that, everyone, is us, the Steve Daga podcast, talking about the terrible Chicago blackouts.

01:59:15

And we are back in the 3rd period. That ran up right until buck drop. Oh my goodness. Let's, get that back up on the screen for you. Welcome to the 3rd period, everybody.

01:59:28

Thank you for being here. You could have been anywhere in the world, but you chose to be here right now watching this, watching the Leafs, watching the Penguins at 19:30. So the clock on the screen next to me there isn't exactly with what I'm actually watching on my screen here. So I'm gonna count down if you wanna sync up with what I am watching. 1919, 18, 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5.

02:00:06

That is the sink right there. As we begin, what I imagine will be a very eventful third period, because we have a tied hockey game here, and we have both teams playing not the greatest hockey. You can tell they both played last night. You can tell that the pens aren't very good, but they're able to hang a little here with the Leafs and their limited defense the pens have. You can tell the refs aren't on their game tonight.

02:01:00

Couple terrible calls. Jari's been decent. Jari's been okay. Wall's been spectacular for the Leafs. Like, he has been all season.

02:01:15

There's a shot that's blocked. Chance the other way. 2 on 1. Alex Nylander. Oh, Nylander can't couldn't win the footrace.

02:01:33

He was out there for a long time. Couldn't win the footrace to the puck. Hey. Pickleball Pat says, all synced up for the 3rd. Let's go.

02:01:46

Yeah. 1723-210. 19. 18 on my clock there. Ryan Reeves, 4th line is out there.

02:01:57

The Lorenz, Dewar, Reeves, 4th line that I love. Riley tries to feed is that Dewar out in front? Reeves here. Oh, Reeves tries to creep out in front, squeak at my jar, but it goes wide. If you were not here earlier, Steve Dangle I gotta do this update every period.

02:02:25

So here is your obligatory Steve Dangle update on why he is not spending his Saturday night with you and why I am here instead. Steve Dangle is in Ottawa signing his book. If you have not purchased Steve's book, there's a chance in front for the Penguins, but Joseph Wall is in perfect position, and he makes the save. The Penguins just fighting away, trying to jam that puck home. Can't do it.

02:03:00

Steve Dangle is in Ottawa signing copies of his book. They're showing a replay right now of a missed call. Duer was taken down by a penguin. That was definitely a missed call by the refs who have not been on their game tonight. In Ottawa, sending books of his cop of his his copies of his book, hockey rants and raves.

02:03:21

It is a great Christmas present for all hockey fans. It you don't have to be a fan of Steve Dangle. You just gotta be a fan of hockey, and you will enjoy this book about it's like if you went to a bar and there was a hockey fan, these are all the conversations you would have with that hockey fan. It's in that book. Penalty delayed penalty coming up or delayed penalty right now, penalty coming up on your Toronto Maple Leafs.

02:03:53

The Penguins have their 6th player out there. They're running the 6 on 5. Let's see what this call is. Toronto gets possession. Austin Matthews, high stick on Austin Matthews.

02:04:10

It looks like he was coming off the ice to go to the bench there. We're gonna get a high stick on Austin Matthews at 15:36 left in the second. Oh, he just dumped the puck, and his stick got high. Oh, that's such a that's such an annoying call because not the the idea of high sticking, but high sticking is just you gotta be in charge of your stick. Like, you are in charge of your stick.

02:04:39

If it goes high, that's on you. And accidental high sticking, that's it. Leafs to the penalty kill. The last penalty kill they had, they were pretty successful on it. They did they drew a penalty and ended up going on a minute long power play after they were on the penalty kill.

02:04:57

We got a chat from Echoes Jeegan. Echoes Eagan. Go Oilers after offer sheet grudge game tonight versus St. Louis. Yeah.

02:05:09

Tonight is the offer sheet grudge match in St. Louis. Let's check-in on the out of town scoreboard. Game's at 10 o'clock. Blues at Oilers.

02:05:21

Here's a shorthanded chance. The so Lawrence can't find anybody in front. Let's head back over. The Penguins are entering the zone, and they take a nice shot there, but it goes off wall and into the netting. Great shorthanded chance here for the Leafs.

02:05:47

They're showing the replay here of Lawrence taking the puck all the way the other end. Cassie, another chat. Justin and Robert both have the days I'll be in town. If you wish to know, Jesse, the games are the only 2 during that time frame, so I won't be in the chat. Cassie, we will arrange something.

02:06:08

We will for sure arrange something while you are in town because you have been such a loyal member of the SDPN community, our livestream chats, especially, and we owe you so much for your hard work and dedication to our streams. Thank you, Cassie. Little confetti for you. We haven't had members of the dancing animal squad visit us recently. Oh, there's a nice shot by Rust.

02:06:43

He's on it tonight. Power play for the pens is really cooking here. They're looking for something. Rust again out front. There's a rebound.

02:06:56

That is a goal for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Michael Bunting. We all knew the x leaf was gonna score against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Michael Bunting capitalizes on the power play for the Penguins. A shot by Rust goes off of Timmons in front, bounces over to bunting.

02:07:22

It is a goal for the Penguins, and we are not happy. I hope somebody made money off of that. That was the most obvious goal that could have ever happened in ex Leaf scoring on the Toronto Maple Leafs. Pickleball Pat says, unleash the pandas. I will not unleash the pandas.

02:07:55

The pandas are for home goals, meaning our home, the Toronto Maple Leafs. Even though the Penguins are at home. I know. We are the home stream of the Leafs. Alright.

02:08:09

We got 5 gifted memberships for Cassie. Cassie, thank you. You have earned some confetti. You have earned a little confetti. It is raining down in penguins gold just for you.

02:08:25

Thank you for gifting those memberships. Let us see oh, okay. TV are we going to TV time out? The puck went into the bench. Are we going to commercial break?

02:08:41

It looks like, yeah, it should be commercial break here with 13 and change left in the 3rd period. David Owen says, I bet on bunching to score, but need a Leafs win too. At least we'll pull it out. We will well, hopefully, fingers crossed, at least pull it out for you, David, for you. Alright.

02:09:01

Let us check-in here. Actually, I'll bring this back up. 1, let's hit the Crab People button. We need some hype for the Leafs.

02:09:14

Crab People. Crab People.

02:09:18

If you wanna get some hype for the Leafs, drop the hype emoji, which is our crab because it looks like he has his hands in the air, so he's cheering like this. You can drop that in the chat. There is your crab emoji. We will take a look at the out of out of town scoreboard to take a look at all the games that are currently also in the 3rd period. Long Hong says, I didn't hear what the LFR situation was going to be, but I can already already hear what Steve would say.

02:09:54

Yeah. There will be an LFR tonight. Steve couldn't stream, but he can still LFR, so he's gonna film that somewhere in Ottawa. Out of China's scoreboard, Canadians up 21 on the Caps. The Caps looking to be, looking to win 2 in a row after they beat the Leafs last night.

02:10:09

Actually, have they won more than that in a row? I'm not sure. The Caps looking to win again after they won last night, but the Canadians are not going down without a fight. PLD scored 1st and then 2 goals by the Canadians. We had Caulfield and then Newhook.

02:10:23

2 o Sens are up on the preds. 21, Avalanche remain up on the wings. Kings still giving it to the Wild, 1 nothing. Their dominating play here, 17 shots to 7, and then we have games coming up tonight. Actually, only 1 game that left to start tonight.

02:10:41

The Oilers are hosting the Blues. Let's get back to our action as they drop the puck at center ice at 13:40 in the final 13:40 of the Pens and Leafs game. James says they aren't coming back. They look slow and tired. Yeah.

02:11:07

Yeah. They, they're probably slow and tired. Cosmo Kramer says, I will eat 6 more hot dogs if the Leafs win. Better start cooking those hot dogs. Who knows what can happen?

02:11:20

We got a pug out of play at 13:09 on my clock. We'll sync up soon so you can, you can sync up with this last little bit of the game here. That was Michael Bunting from Brian Rust and Eric Carlson. Here's the replay of the goal, everybody. If you'd like to see the goal, we have Eric Carlson working the puck behind the net.

02:11:46

Actually, that's not no. Hold on. There we go. Now it's going over the Carlson. So we had puck behind the net, over to Michael Bunting, who then feeds Eric Carlson up top here.

02:12:00

Eric Carlson down to Brian Rust. Shot is blocked by Timmins. Bunting cleans up the rebound. Good little tic tac toe on the power play there by the Penguins. You know?

02:12:13

They caught the Leafs very collapsed here around the net. Lot of open ice. Nobody manning the point, allowing Eric Carlson. Mitch Marner's coming out to play him really quick, but it allows things to open up here with a lot of space there. Allows Rust open for that free shot.

02:12:33

Timmons did a good job blocking it. Just bad luck there on the bounce of the blocked shot. So there you go. That's that goal, which is the current game winner for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Yeah.

02:12:46

That was Malkin behind the net there. 71, Yevgeny Malkin. We had a chat I missed. I was waiting to see if the Leafs did something here with this possession, but it is a whistle as Tristan Jari covers the puck. 1154 on my screen.

02:13:16

David Owens says, Leafs win me this bunting parlay, and I'll gift subs. So David Owens has got a parlay going with a bunting goal and a Leafs win. I hope it hits for you, David. Fingers crossed. You know who I'm rooting for.

02:13:33

I hope that hits for you. Here we go. 1154. We're almost halfway through 3rd. I'll count down as this puck is dropped so you can sync up with your stream.

02:13:50

They're at the face off dot. Puck is dropped. 53, 52, 51, 50, 49, 48, 47, 46, 45, 44. There we go. Let's go.

02:14:05

Oh, hand oh my goodness. Soon as we lock in. As soon as we lock in. Hand pass, 1141. Alright.

02:14:15

So we got 2 chests to get to before we get back to the action. Canadian girl 83. When Cassie goes to the Leafs game $5. Thank you. Appreciate that.

02:14:24

When Cassie goes to the Leafs game, someone needs to bring a Cassie clan sign. There is always someone from the chat there. I would love to see that fantastic idea. Cassie for $2 says oh, Leafs shot. Morgan Rielly shot.

02:14:40

Goes wide. We're back with the action. 11:30 on my clock. Here's a play out in front. Matthew Nies.

02:14:47

No. Off the post. Matthew Nies did not finish in front. Oh my goodness. So close for the Leafs.

02:15:01

Off the post. Darn. Cassie says she'll gift 50 subs if the Pens win. Oh my goodness, Cassie. Thank you if if, the Pens win.

02:15:16

Thank you. Pre thank you. Matthew Nye's point blank shot in front off the crossbar. Brutal brutal stuff there, but that's how bounces in hockey go. Sometimes you hit the crossbar.

02:15:39

We got the puck going all the way to the other end of the ice. That's an icing. That is an icing on the Penguins. They're showing the replay of the nice shot. Oh, no.

02:15:54

Nice. Did Jari get a piece of that? It wasn't off the crossbar. It was off the post. I think I think Jari might have got a little piece.

02:16:05

It was a little wobbly on the shot. That's when it was hitting the post, that's why I asked. But, no, he's just barely can't finish there right off the post. That's a tough 1. So late in the game.

02:16:17

Leafs are gonna try and pressure here with the first line out there. That's Matthews, Mitch Marner, Max Paciorette. First line of the Leafs out there with 10:13 to go. Can they get anything going? They have the puck down low deep, but the pens seem to get control of it.

02:16:36

They don't. Matthews. Austin Matthews shot on goal. Save by Tristan Jari. Austin, get out here.

02:16:45

Get out here, Austin. There he is. There's Austin on the screen. Austin holding the crap people sign. Beautiful stuff from Austin.

02:16:58

Thank you for thank you for, filming that for me, Austin, personally. We you definitely filmed this just for this stream, as you can tell. There he is, Austin Matthews. 1001 left. Gotta get a face off here halfway through this 3rd period.

02:17:14

Leafs need 1 to tie it up. Adam Wild has, like, a really good record streaming Leafs games. So if I stream this 1 and they lose, maybe I'm the problem. Steve also doesn't have a good record streaming Leafs games. I know that too.

02:17:37

So I don't know what it is about Adam doing these, but he, he always seems to do Leafs wins. There's Tavares over to Willie. 2nd line out there now. That's the Nies Tavares Willie line. Oh, pass by Nies is intercepted.

02:18:01

Oh, and the other Nylander. Bad penalty. You can't do that, Alex. Alex Nylander, bad penalty on Michael Bunting. Oh, yeah.

02:18:17

That's a that's that's a hole. Like, you can't you can't do that. When you are a third line player who was playing with the Marlies all season long, you've been healthy scratch the last couple games, and now Nick Robertson has been playing so awful, you get a shot in the lineup, Alex Nylander. When it's late in the game, in a game that you're not winning, you can't take a bad penalty like that as a role player. You you can't do it as a star too, but as a role player, it especially hurts because you're out there just to, hopefully, be a little bit of energy, be a little bit of offense while the Stars get some rest late in this game so they can get out there and score the goal.

02:19:02

You can't be a liability like that, Alex. Don't like that stuff at all. Alright. Connor says they will just not call a penalty on Pittsburgh. Yeah.

02:19:13

That's it's also a lot of penalties by the refs. But that 1, I think they had to call that 1 on on Alex. You couldn't you couldn't get away with that 1. You weren't gonna get away with that 1. Bunting's also all always been good at drawing penalties.

02:19:45

We have 913 to go. If you have not liked this video yet, if you're watching on YouTube, hit like on the video. If you have not if you have already liked, thank you. I appreciate you. You are the best.

02:20:03

Hit subscribe on the channel, If you've already liked, then hit subscribe. If you already liked and subscribed, you've done your job for the day. Congratulations. There's nothing more for you to do. That's all.

02:20:16

That's all I got for you to do. Those 2 things. Sit back. Relax as the Pittsburgh Penguins here go to the, power play. Leafs, get the puck out of the zone.

02:20:32

Send it deep. Jari plays the puck to the corner. Penguins, leave the zone. Do a little drop back pass. I hate those.

02:20:44

But they successfully get the puck into the zone. Nice little work there. Raquel up to the top to Latang. Grislic's got the puck down low. Crosby, near the face off dot, plays it down low.

02:21:03

Penz does a nice pass in here. Here's a shot 1 timer. Goes around the side of the net and out of the zone. That was Chris Letang on the 1 timer. Oh my goodness.

02:21:22

Chris Letang misses the net and sends it all the way down the other end. The penguins have to regroup here. Brian Rust entering the zone. They're setting up their power play here. Shot on Joseph Wall.

02:21:40

He saves it. Leafs are trying to clear. They can't do it. Puck stays in the zone. Carlson's got it.

02:21:51

Shot on goal. In front again. Is that no call on the tripping in front? Thank goodness. Glass fell in front.

02:22:05

OEL took him down, and there was no call on the play. I feel like it's even. I feel like the calls are even now. You can't call that. Least that too many not go their way.

02:22:18

Calls are even. Eric Gosling with the slapshot. Saved by Joseph Wall. Beautiful stuff by JJ. Yeah.

02:22:39

That's not a penalty. The OEL glass play in front, that was just 2 guys battling. 1 guy loses his footing. That's just a net front battle. There's no penalty on that 1.

02:22:52

2 seconds left in the power play. They're about to drop the puck at 7:15 left in the 3rd. Play is stopped once again at 7:0:5. Pucks out of play. 705 left here in the 3rd period.

02:23:23

Leafs need to dig deep. Tavares' line is out there with Willie and Nies. Oh, Pacheretti's out there. Nies working the penalty kill. Gets a little breather.

02:23:40

See if the Leafs can do something here with this opportunity after killing that penalty. Successful penalty kill that Alex Neely undertook. Cosmos said best hot dog condiment, ketchup. Ketchup is the greatest condiment of all time. Ketchup is the Wayne Gretzky of condiments.

02:24:03

There are other ones who have more flash and flare, and some of them are beloved by certain fan bases. But ketchup's the Wayne Gretzky of condiments. It's just undeniable that that's number 1. You might have your favorite. You might have new condiments that you think are better.

02:24:22

Might think the condiment game has changed. Think might think the game today is more faster, more skill. There's a chance in front for Crosby. Saved by Joseph Wall. Wall with a beautiful save.

02:24:40

Awesome stuff by Joseph Wall. And you know what? 6 minutes to go. Leafs need some more chances here. It's been a little bit too much penguins.

02:24:53

We had that power play. And then you come out of that. Shots are 115 in this period for the Penguins. We can see that here on the screen. 115 for the pens.

02:25:11

You're down. You need to mustard something up as we talk about condiments. I want a little mustard from the Leafs. Here's Nies behind the net. There's Myers with a big slapshot.

02:25:30

Doesn't amount to much, though. 525. Turn over here. Nies trying to get it the other way. Sends it out front.

02:25:47

He was looking for Myers who had jumped up in the rush. 510. It's starting to get late for these Toronto Maple Leafs. Benoit here playing it at center ice. Ty Smith, are you not relishing in this game?

02:26:12

We are running out of time here for the Toronto Maple Leafs to get something done. The greatest condiment of all time is ketchup. I will not hear any other debates. If you were to just eat a hot dog with ketchup, that is perfectly fine. It's all it needs.

02:26:34

There's a shot on goal on Tristan Jari who saves it. Alright. 428 left. We are going to a commercial break. Your Toronto Maple Leafs are down.

02:26:53

Everybody's arguing everybody's talking about their favorite condiments here right now in the chat. Chat. Font Taylor says, today's ketchup sucks. What does that mean? Is ketchup changed?

02:27:15

Boom boom 84. Ketchup is the goat. Tzatziki is tremendously underrated. Tzatziki is fabulous. Jared likes mustard.

02:27:25

Peppercorn sauce is king, says Madden 96. Shea says mustard or garlic aioli. Entire pizza says, I am indeed a ketchup fiend. I put ketchup on everything. Like, I'll put ketchup on eggs.

02:27:41

Ketchup on just about anything. That's bad TV says Relish is their favorite condiment. Ada Sriracha. Southwest Chipotle, Madden 26 says. Best condiment is ranch, says Cassie.

02:28:04

Hot sauce. But what's hot sauce? Jay McCrew. Mustard Derek mustard and sandwich mustard and hot dog, mustard and eggs. Ew.

02:28:15

What? Where's Speedy v to tell us about Costco gravy? Alright. Lee's got 4 28 left. We are locking in.

02:28:36

Jmoney, in the chat, the best condiment is tears. Yeah. Leafs fans, we are trying to avoid tears here tonight. 428 left in the 3rd period. They're about to drop the puck.

02:28:52

The big boys are out on the ice. It's Matthews, Marner. And have they brought out Willie? Yes, they have. Matthews Marner and Willie have reunited in the hopes of the Leafs getting a late 3rd period goal.

02:29:14

It may be early December, but that does not mean that this game does not matter. Every win matters, and they have brought out the big guns to try and get the win here tonight in Pittsburgh. Coming off of a loss at home to Washington, you don't want losses to become a habit. Snip it in the butt. Get the win tonight.

02:29:42

Come up big against 1 of the worst teams in the league this season so far. Toronto. 352 to go to get this goal. At least send it to OT. Let's lock in.

02:29:57

Breakaway for the Pens. Big save, Joseph Wall. Let's absolutely go. That is why his name is Wall. Nothing gets by the wall.

02:30:15

What an absolutely great positioning. What a great save on Yevgeny Malkin who missed the who missed the shot, actually. It went wide. Joseph Ball stays with it. Oh, comes back to position.

02:30:34

Shot by the pens. Doesn't get through. Glove save. Joseph Wall keeps the Leafs in this thing. Unbelievable.

02:30:45

What a season Wall is having. What a season Stahlers is having. We got some chats I need to get to, but we got 3 minutes left. Canadian girl 83 3rd period brought to you behind. Yes.

02:30:59

It is. Yes. It absolutely is. Throw a little ketchup on that. We also got Robert who said mustard belongs on cupcakes.

02:31:10

That's Steve. Yes. The mustard cupcake. Joseph Wall is the true star of this game. What a save to not allow the pens to go up 4 to 2, that glove save after the Malkin failed breakaway.

02:31:26

Remember that save, says Gravely Gravely Diggs. We will remember that save. If it if the Leafs come back here, that is the absolute best turning point. We ran a poll, a 152 of you voted. Best condiment for a hot dog.

02:31:46

Ketchup, 1, 46%. Mustard, 31%. Something else, 15%. Relish, 5%. The Leafs are indeed getting a power play here.

02:32:00

That is a penalty on Brian Rust. It was high sticking on Brian Rust. Oh, baby. We are in for 1 hell of a finish. Mike Sullivan is PO'd right now.

02:32:26

Brian Rust got his stick stuck in Simone Benoit. Oh, no. No. No. It's Holmberg who got hit in the face by Brian Rust.

02:32:37

There you go. Leafs to the PP. 2/13 left. The rest of the game will be spent with the man advantage here. I hope we can bring out the dancing animal squad 1 more time.

02:32:53

This is your chance, Toronto. Whoo. Let's lock in. 2 minutes on the clock. 150 49, 47, 45 on the power play left.

02:33:10

Do they pull Joseph Wall and make this a 6 on 4? It's a little risky, because pens can just ice the puck and just shoot at the empty net, but you also want that extra man advantage, the 6 on 4, to try and tie this game. There's a shot but doesn't get through. They keep the puck in the zone. Marner does.

02:33:33

Marner over to Nylander. Marner sitting in the slot. What's he gonna do? He passes it. Back to Marner.

02:33:41

Back to Willie. You guys gotta shoot the puck here. Somebody's gotta shoot the puck. Willy and Marner just playing back and forth. They finally get something to the center.

02:33:51

Tavares who gets stopped by by Tristan Jari. Back up to Marner. Marner over to Matthews. Matthews takes a long distance shot on goal. It's stopped by Tristan Jari.

02:34:05

Matthews can't keep the puck in the zone, and it's back to center ice as the boys regroup and try and get this power play going once again. There's Nylander over to Matthews. It's stolen by the Penguins, and it's set down. That's a goal by the Pittsburgh Penguins. Empty netter.

02:34:37

4 to 2. Short handed empty net goal, and that is gonna put this game on ice. It is Blake Lizotte unassisted Jon Tavares with the best shot on the power play for the Leafs, but that was all they could muster up. That was all they could catch up up on that power play. Blake Lizotte shoots it all the way from the other end of the ice, into the empty net.

02:35:13

Time out, Leafs. 39.3 seconds left in this game. 50 memberships gifted by Cassie. Thank you, Cassie. Thank you.

02:35:26

At least you could deliver for us tonight. There are gold confetti flakes on the screen and the dancing animal squad in honor of Cassie's Pittsburgh Penguins getting the win tonight and her gifting 50 subs. Congratulations, Cassie. You're gonna be celebrating a victory tonight after Blake Lizotte scores his 6th goal of the season on an empty net. Lisa pulled the goalie once again, and the puck is going to the other end.

02:36:08

Oh, no. 2 goals for the pens. They are pouring it on. They are happy. They are celebrating in Pittsburgh.

02:36:26

Oh my goodness. No. I don't want that 1. The boo birds are out. Marner can't chase the puck down.

02:36:47

That's it. Cassie, this is for you once again. Dancing Animal Squad, just the goat this time and the chicken. Sheep the sheep and the chicken and a little gold confetti flakes for the Pittsburgh Penguins. 12.9 seconds left.
