Tonight's NHL Edge breakdown has to absolutely be John Tavares' OT winner against the Washington Capitals because we have Alexander Ovechkin getting a point-blank slap shot right on Joseph Wall. And Wall makes the save. He makes the pad save. It is a kick save and a beauty, even though it's not really a kick save. It was a pad save. He saved it right off the center of his pad. It almost went five hole. It did not go five hole. And Mitch Marner is there to to chip the buck ahead. And what do we have? Everybody said he's washed. Everybody says he has no speed. But John Tavares wins a foot race to the buck. He has a very big Head Start. We have John Carlson there and Dylan Strom there chasing him down the ice. But John Tavares will not be stopped. He wins the foot race all the way to the buck, beating John Carlson barely to the net. And what does he do? A little dipsy-doodle around Logan Thompson for the OT winner. That is Vintage JT with his beautiful stick handling around Logan Thompson. He's able to make a little move just to open up that five hole and tweak it through those pads.
