In this episode, we speak to Bev Turner, host of GB News Late Show Live, about the fallout from the invasion and how the issue is resonating with other European countries. So we've been tracking this saga with you, and now there's real fears that we're about to see another surge of Moroccans into Spanish territory. So let's start there. You know, what are we hearing now about this potential second wave?

Well, the update, John, that I think is quite interesting is what has come to light is how many people heard about this through social media. It seems that TikTok particularly played a role in galvanizing that many people. 72,000 men, there or thereabouts, were believed to have crossed over from Morocco to Ceuta on the 31st of July. We've all seen the pictures. It's incredibly shocking. And now, in fact, TikTok and Facebook are collaborating, we understand, with the Spanish authorities, which is not unprecedented, but it's certainly a new direction in terms of following illegal migration so that they can then inform the Spanish authorities if it looks like, um, a gathering is building via communications online.

Now, we've seen some reports that August 15th might be circled for another wave. Again, this is online, like you've just laid out. Is that— does that seem like something that's real? Is that just an internet rumor at this point?

Look, it's a very tempting offer for Moroccan— poor Moroccan people to get across to Spain. The only thing that might offset such an invasion again, John, is the fact that we understand that from the 72,000 that crossed, Spain is saying that 70,000 have already been taken back to Morocco. Now that is quite a difficult figure to verify, and frankly, even if 2,000 people have remained in Ceuta, That is still problematic to the local people in that very small area.

Yeah, indeed. In fact, we've seen reports that maybe 1,000 Moroccans were labeled as unaccompanied minors, and they might be heading to mainland Spain. Have you seen that as well?

That is possibly the most shocking element of this story. We're used to seeing here in, in London— I'm in London at the moment— here in Europe, we're used to seeing these pictures of these men triumphant arriving on European shores. We have these new, what are mega dinghies that have arrived in the UK this week. We're experiencing beautiful weather here as well, with maybe 250 illegal aliens on each dinghy. But we've never seen this number of unaccompanied minors arriving in Spain wanting to be looked after. It raises so many questions. Where are their parents? Who are they? How did they swim over there? Because we have to remember, that's the key element. They didn't go on boats. To sweater. They swam from Morocco. And so that is a huge responsibility for the Spanish authorities. It's one thing accommodating young men or sending them back. It's something altogether when you're looking after children.

Now, there have been a lot of theories about what drove this initial surge, with many people saying there's no way this could have happened without the Moroccan government at least allowing it or perhaps even enabling it on some level. What are you hearing from your sources?

Similar, actually, Georgia, because there have been some pictures circulating online of what appear to be Moroccan law enforcement agents, such say, police officers opening the backs of trucks with hundreds of men jumping out and heading down to the beach to swim across. Now, it is very difficult to verify those images, but it is also very hard to imagine that the Moroccan authorities were not aware of 70,000 people over the course of 2 to 3 days suddenly arriving on the beach with their swimming trunks on. Like, it seems unreasonable to assume that the Moroccan government did not know that this was about to happen.

Now, there also have been reports of violence from the first wave that were perhaps downplayed, or in some cases even ignored or blacked out from the media and from the Spanish government. For example, we've seen several reports of, uh, rape, even of underage girls. Do we have any official statements about those incidents that we know for a fact occurred?

Not that I have seen, but of course it is incredibly embarrassing for the Spanish government because they have had quite recently a very socialist prime minister and they have had a very relaxed attitude to illegal migration, as we know. This, this, this, um, the leader Álvarez, he prides himself, José Álvarez, on being a welcome, uh, country towards these, um, illegal migrants and refugees, asylum seekers. As depending on your label. And of course, it is incredibly embarrassing for images to get out of women running through the streets of Soweto being pursued by men. The mainstream media here in Europe is not portraying those stories anywhere near as well as independent media. I've had to look at independent journalists to get some of the more accurate footage, and particularly some of the interviews, because when these people are arriving there, they are, as I say, they are triumphant, they're victorious, they're celebrating, they're happy. You put a microphone under their face and they're happy to talk talk about it. They want to say what they're there for. Some of them are saying that they still believe that they're in Morocco, which may be, may be a lie.

It might just be an indication of their understanding of geography and geopolitics in that particular area. But as you say, the media, the mainstream media, are not looking, I don't think, closely enough at the problems which some of these men can potentially bring with them or may even be committing. Why? Because illegal migration is incredibly embarrassing for the whole of Europe. The UK is no longer in the EU, of course, because of Brexit, but we still have this problem. Our Prime Minister was asked today about stopping the small boats. He still can't guarantee that he can. It's a huge issue. We're never quite sure who's driving it. We're never quite sure of the agenda behind it, but it does start to look like there is not the will to stop it.

You mentioned your Prime Minister. You know, the response from the people of Ceuta has been pretty strong that we've seen. Demands for the removal of the Spanish Prime Minister over this. Will they have any sway, the people, after this catastrophe? You know, will they be able to maybe force a change in the leadership of Spain?

That just doesn't seem to happen. It doesn't seem to happen. I've spoken to you before about the fact that the UK is pretty good at getting rid of our prime ministers, kicking them out. We've had— we had 7 in 10 years, I think we're on now. Um, the political party itself, it doesn't come necessarily from the people from our democracy, not always, once every 4 years we have an election here. I presume it's very similar in Spain. They will try and make their voices heard, but there is a terrible sense here in Europe of absolute helplessness from people because we don't believe that the elites who are ruling us have any understanding of the impacts of illegal migration because they don't live in the towns and cities where hotels are being full of these people. They live in their rarefied mansions, they live behind high gates, they have a country house down the road from here, uh, in Oxfordshire, and they'll have their apartment in London here in the UK. So people feel it does not affect them, and they find it very politically difficult because some people, increasingly it seems in this country, the left wing, the Labor Party supporters, the Green Party supporters particularly, are huge fans of illegal migration.

They're fans of asylum seekers. They see this as the UK and Europe opening their arms and welcoming in the needy, the refugees. Morocco is not at war, but it is poor. And so what we're seeing are economic migrants. They want a better life. We can't blame them for that, but they're arriving on our shores at the expense of the European taxpayer who is frankly sick of it.

Yeah, and even though there might be some people with good intentions, clearly there is a lot of people coming in with the intention to do ill to the people of Suta, as we've seen. So you also have the bad actors here.

Yeah, and that is a really good point because one of the interviews that struck me from one of the independent journalists was he asked one of the guys, where are all the women? All he could see is men in shirts and shorts. And they said, you know, they are at home in the kitchen, like, as Islam instructs them to be. They are not going to be here. And I I worry as a woman here in London, as I sit and speak to you today, I don't want those men in our country that believe that women don't have equal rights to men. I find it astonishing that the sort of liberal left are not more concerned about women and children when it comes to this particular issue. It feels like we are just potential collateral damage.

Yeah, well, let's hope that we do not see another surge here and that the Spanish government does actually do what it's promising to do, remove all of the invaders. Bev, thank you so much for joining us.
