I'm Georgia Howe with Daily Wire editor in chief John Bickley. It's Friday, December 13th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update. The woman who accused members of the Duke lacrosse team of rape in 2006 is now admitting she lied. Daily Wire editor Ash Short has the details.
Crystal Mangum, now 46, made the admission during an interview with Katerina DePasquale at the North Carolina Correctional Institution For Women, where Magnum is serving time for killing her boyfriend in 2011. Magnum said she knows what she did was wrong and that she made up the story because she was seeking validation. She also said she hoped the 3 falsely accused men could forgive her. Magnum has maintained for nearly 20 years that she was raped during a party thrown by the Duke University men's lacrosse team back in 2006, even writing a book about her claims after she was proven to have lied.
Trump border czar Tom Homan spoke at a GOP holiday party in Chicago this week. Daily Wire reporter Tim Pierce has the story.
Tom Homan was direct saying he will implement Donald Trump's plan to deport millions of illegal immigrants beginning in the windy city.
We all have to
call for January 21st. Yeah. And we're gonna start rangers in Chicago, Illinois. Yeah.
Illinois governor JB Pritzker and Chicago mayor Brandon Johnson have vowed to fight deportations and continue their sanctuary policies, but Homan said he won't back down.
If he does, if he knowingly harbors conceal the middle of any, I will prosecute.
This comes just days after Chicago residents criticized the mayor for using taxpayer dollars to house and feed illegal immigrants instead of taxpaying citizens.

The Biden administration spent more than a $1,000,000,000 on DEI programs since 2021. Daily Wire senior reporter Mary Margaret Ollahan has the report.
Parents defending education revealed the break down of the $1,000,000,000 in grants in a new report on Thursday. They say the funding promotes far left ideology through initiatives like race based teacher training and youth activism programs. Some examples of how the money was spent include 21,000,000 for equity focused teacher training in North Carolina, $4,000,000 for a 3 week culturally responsive computer science summer camp, and 1,200,000 for the University of Iowa to train 40 elementary teachers to, quote, enact equity centered education. The list goes on and on. Well, nearly 1 third of students have fallen behind grade level only last year.
Donald Trump has pledged to dismantle the Department of Education and end such initiatives.
Michael Jordan's 32,000 square foot mansion in Highland Park, Illinois has finally found a buyer. After sitting on the market for 12 long years, the property, which was listed at $29,000,000 closed at 9,500,000, a 67% discount. The lowball sale is a rare turnover for the basketball legend known for hitting big shots. The property features championship worthy amenities like a basketball court, circular infinity pool. Many believe these distinctive features hindered the sale.
We still don't know the identity of the buyer. And for the first time ever, a nativity display appeared on the Capitol steps in Washington DC. Daily Wire reporter Amanda Prestigiacomo has the story.
Just this past week, the first ever Christmas carols and nativity display was held on the southeastern steps of the US Capitol, marking a major victory for religious freedom. The event, which included religious prayer, was made possible after a landmark federal court ruling was issued this past May. Reverend Patrick Mahoney, who led the legal fight, successfully argued that the capital steps are a public forum, ensuring peaceful demonstrations can no longer be prohibited. Organizers held the gathering as a celebration of faith and freedom and an end to the war on Christmas in the public square.
