We have a small plane crashing into a parking lot in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Obviously, going up in flames, you see the pictures there. Abc's Alex Stone is on the phone now with more. Alex, what do you know?

00:00:12

Well, Phil, we know it was a small plane, a Beechcraft Bonanza, which is a single engine, small aircraft, five people on board. We know the pilot had asked to return to the airport, reporting in that there was a door that was open and then apparently had some a problem in flight. The air traffic controller saying that the aircraft needed to pull up, that they were too low, and then the crash near a retirement community and the plane going down. The NTSB is on its way now The FAA as well. They're going to investigate. You can see the fire in the area. But what made the plane go down, other than that report of a door being open, Phil, we don't know.

00:00:55

Alex, you said five people on board. Do we know anything about injuries, fatalities? It looks like landed near some apartment complex?

00:01:02

Yeah, outside of the building and around some vehicles as well, we don't know the condition of those who were on board other than that there were five on board. Only a couple of weeks ago in Southern California, there was an aircraft that went down after that pilot reported a door that was open. That was an experimental aircraft. The NTSB in that one, finding that the door had flown open, and they were struggling to get back. That one went down, killing everybody on board that. This is a much more robust aircraft, a Beachcraft Bonanza, not an experimental aircraft, but what the door played in this, we don't know. They wouldn't have been pressurized at that altitude. They would have been much lower. But if the door had something to do with it, if they had another problem, we don't know.

00:01:49

All right. Alex Stone, a lot more to learn about this. We know you're going to be gathering for us. Thanks so much.

00:01:54

You got it. Thanks, Phil.
