Second Ches Jones has finally found his forever home. Of course, it's a big deal when any dog gets adopted from the Humane Society of Greater Miami. But listen to this number for a second.

00:00:11

1,739 was the number of days he was in shelter.

00:00:14

So you will not forget that number. Never. Yes, this sweet little nugget named Jones was somehow in the shelter for almost five years. An executive director, Josie Aguirre, says the 13-year-old had become a staff favorite.

00:00:25

Even though we've had a few that are long-timers, he's the one we I didn't understand because he's so sweet.

00:00:33

But then came a series of videos from two gentlemen on social media who go by the Dog Guys. They first dropped by in 2023 to try and help Jones get adopted and then returned about a month ago to try one more time. This go-around, though, their video caught the eye of a Tampa Bay resident named Brittany.

00:00:50

I came across his video and I was just bawling my eyes out.

00:00:53

Brittany had recently lost her senior pal, Lucky, and was immediately reminded of him. In fact, she drove down to Miami that weekend, suddenly becoming the hero of a nearly 2,000-day search.

00:01:04

They were so surprised, and I was like, Yeah, I'm going to adopt him. And they were like, Are you serious? And I was like, Yeah.

00:01:10

Now, a few weeks later, Jones is enjoying strolls along the Gulf Coast, and Brittany was kind enough to make an Instagram to update both his shelter family and his fans online. The account already has thousands of followers, many of which apparently messaged Brittany to send her items like treats, food, dog beds, and even this painting of Jones.

00:01:29

I mean, he's such a good dog, and I'm so confused why no one took him.

00:01:37

Guys, I made a promise to showcase senior dogs who are still up for adoption there. Here is Leia, who is nine years old. Then we got Roper, who's also nine. And then Sammie, who is eight years old. They're ready for your love. Humanesocietymiami. Org, guys.
