I knew it.
Another heard at media production.
And I always get asked the question, like, did you know it was gonna be what it. What? What it is now? I'm like, no. I never in a million years thought it was gonna be, you know, what it is today.
Yo, listen.
Yeah. And here we are, 15 years later.
Yo, yo, 40 miles an hour on the scene. Like, hey, steady making moves, get the cream. Like, hey, gotta manifest on my destiny oh, my destiny what they gonna say? Tell me what they gonna say what they gonna say what they gonna say?
Hi, guys. I wanna introduce you to my new podcast. It's turning the tables by Teresa Giudice. I'm super excited about it. The studio that I'm in right now is in my home. So I'm letting you guys in my home, in my studio. You guys are part of my family turning the tables. It's my first memoir, which I have right here. I actually wrote it when I was away in camp. I know. It was so crazy that recently I saw somebody that I was away in jail with. I mean, I used to not like to say that word, but it is what it is. There is a reason why I had to go through that. So I did. I did what I had to do. So, yeah, I saw someone that I was in there with said that they were reading my diary, you know, when I wasn't in my room. And that's not the case because I recently just celebrated my birthday, and my roommate came there and she said she's like, teresa, I can't believe that person said that. She's like, your stuff was always locked up. I always locked it up with a combination.
So nobody read my stuff. So it's crazy how people always make up lies and say things. Yeah. So my stuff was not read because I. I actually made sure I locked it up because of who I was. Theresa Giudice. It's like, people could have actually took what I was writing and sell it to magazines. So I made sure I always locked up my stuff. So I was writing, turning the tables. It really made my time go by really quick. You take a bad situation and turn it into a good situation. Because I came out after I did my time, I came out, and turning the tables was my first memoir and a New York Times bestseller. And I also have three cookbooks that are New York Times bestsellers. So I have six books, and four of them are New York Times bestsellers. Yes. So in life, sometimes we don't understand, like, why we have to go through things. But the reason why I called my book, turning the table, is because I'm usually flipping them if you piss me off. But otherwise, I mean, I did that only once. But the reason why I called my first memoir, turning the tables is because I took a bad situation that happened to me.
And instead of, like, crawling in a hole and hiding, I turned it around. So I turned the tables and I made it into a positive situation. Cause I knew who I was. I knew I was a good person, and I took a bad situation into a good situation. Listen, I think a lot of us wives out there do sign papers that our husbands tell us to sign. So I went to a closing with my husband. I signed on the dotted line for a mortgage with a lawyer there, everything. And that was it. And then I would say, ten years later, when I was on a tv show, the government came knocking on a door regarding taxes. And then they started looking into everything. And then I got charged for mortgage fraud. And the thing is, I know in my heart I did not commit a crime, but I did what I had to do. I did my time, and I took it like a champ. So, yeah, and I did it. And I was like, there's a reason why. But while I was there, I worked out, I wrote my book, I meditated, I prayed, and, yeah, I just focused on myself.
And I was like, okay, I think God's given me. He wants me to take a rest. Cause I was home with four kids. I was doing it all by myself. And, yeah, so I said, I think he's trying to give me a break. But I was like, really? God? This is the kind of break you really want to give me. And what I have to say about I was in Danbury, Connecticut, and I ended up seeing, while I was there, the four seasons. And what I loved about it, unfortunately, like, the outdoors, we were able to go outside, and I used to walk to track a lot, and the outdoors was beautiful. Like, I saw actually winter, fall, summer, spring. And I was just like, wow. I was inhaling, like, the fresh air, and, like, that was something like I never did every day. Like, you know, you just take the seasons for granted and you just rush throughout life and. Yeah, so I guess I feel like God was trying to give me a break and, like, slow it down. Take a break. Take time out for yourself. And I was like, okay, this is the kind of break you're giving me.
Listen, I was like, you know what? There's a reason why. And after that, when I came out, yeah, I definitely turned to tables. There was a lot of exciting things that came to me, obviously, I was still on the Real Housewives of New Jersey. What really touched my heart is that Bravo waited a year and put our show on pause till I came home. And that meant the world to me. Yeah, that really did. That really meant the world to me. So when I came out, like, I wrote more books, I got commercials, I was on other tv shows, like Dancing with the Stars. Now I'm going to be on House of villains. Got a lot of brand deals, a lot of, a lot of business stuff going on. So it's been amazing. So I just want to tell you out there that if something bad happens, you know what? Just turn the tables and turn it into a positive. Don't let it bring you down. Be like, all right, there's a reason why this is happening. I don't understand why. And sometimes you don't understand why at that moment that's happening. But then later on, you know, maybe it takes a year, few years to figure out why that happened.
For instance, I finally just got my answer. I was like, oh, okay. I feel like I had to meet Louie, and the only way you know that happened is like, yeah, look, unfortunately, I didn't want Joe to get deported, my ex husband, but he got deported, our marriage ended, and here comes Louie, and I meet the man of my dreams. Like, I meet my soul mate, and I'm like, oh, my God. Like, I never thought that would ever happen. So that's why in life, you never know what's gonna happen. You're just gonna take it, take it in and be like, there's a reason why this is happening. And then you'll think about it and be like, oh, now I understand why that happened. The Real Housewives of New Jersey, first time that it aired, it was May 12, 2000, 915 years ago. I was 36 years old. I only had three daughters at the time, so I ended up having Adriana's second season and had her on the show, as you guys all saw. And I don't know if everyone knows the story of how it all came about before housewives. I went to college for two years.
I got my associate's degree in fashion marketing and management. After that, I got into the buying field. I was an assistant buyer for sizes unlimited, 16 plus and the avenue. I worked at the buying office in Rochelle Park. I worked there for a few years, and I wanted to make more money, so I was there for a few years. I'm like, I want to go to another company. Because when you jump to another company, that's when you jump with your pay and you could get more money. So then after that, I was an assistant buyer at Macy's in Herald Square. And while I was there, then I got promoted to being an associate buyer. I was in the handbags, and I got promoted to an associate buyer in lingerie. Then I went back to handbags. Then after that, working there again for a few years in the buying industry. And so then, you know, we were dealing with vendors, and I saw that I feel like the vendor side was, like, more fun, more fashion forward. So I was like, you know, I want to try being on the vendor side. So then I got a job at nine west and Calvin Klein handbags.
And then I was selling to department stores like Macy's, Bloomingdale's, Dillard's, and all other specialty stores. So, guys, that's what I did. Before the real house was in New Jersey, I was in the fashion industry, which I loved it. Like, yeah, I loved. Fashion was always my thing. Then I got pregnant with Gia, and I thought I was going to go back to work. I mean, we actually bought our first house, which you guys see on the real house is in New Jersey. Right up the street from where I lived, there was a train station. So we moved there, right there, because I thought I was going to go back to work and commute into the city. So this train station was right up the street from our house. So then it was right before 911. Yeah, I mean, I ended up leaving work two weeks before. I ended up having Gia a week early. So I was only home for a week. And then I gave birth to Gia, and I was gonna go back to work. You know, everyone thinks that my mom was my nanny. I asked my mom, I was like, ma, can you watch Gia so I could go back to work?
And she was like, no. She was like, you had kids, so you need to take care of your kids. She's like, I did my time. I did. You know, I had you and your brother and I watched you guys. I raised you. I stayed home. And, yeah, she was like, no. She was like, now this is my time. And I think that's. My mom never worked before. And then after my brother and I got married, that's when my mom went back to work. And she, you know, she actually enjoyed it. She was a teacher's aide, and she loved it. You know, I saw that, like, it made, you know, she got out of the house every day. She got dressed, she put makeup on, looked beautiful, and she enjoyed it, and she should. So then I was like, oh, my God. I didn't want to leave. I didn't want to hire a nanny. Cause I didn't. I didn't trust anyone. I was like. And the thing is, before having Gia, I was never around kids and my family. Like, there was. I didn't grow up with little kids around me. So it's like, to me, being a mom was very new.
Any first time moms out there, don't be nervous. Trust me. Like, if you think you don't know something, mom instincts kicks in right away. So, yeah, so I be, you know, I was a first time mom, and I was like, you know what? I don't want to leave my daughter with anyone else. So I decided not to go back to work. And then Gia was eight months old, and then 911 hits, so I ended up being home. And I was home for, like, seven years. Yeah, seven years. And then one day, these producers went to the salon, Franklin Lakes called Chateau, and they went in and they were asking for beautiful women with a beautiful home, the beautiful lifestyle and all that. So the owner of that salon recommended Dina and Jacqueline, and then Dina ended up recommending me. So I ended up interviewing for the show, and that was it. They just came to my house. We were adding onto our house at the time, which you saw in real house. I was in New Jersey, and they were, they talked to me and that was it. And then they left. And then they kept calling me.
They're like, do you want to do the show? And I think at the time they were calling it Jersey moms. And I was like, I didn't understand what it was. I thought it was, like, fake. I was like, I don't know what this is. So it took me, like, eleven and a half months to sign the contract. So they kept calling me all the time. Everyone else signed the contract right away. And so it was Deena, Jacqueline, Caroline, Danielle. And then I didn't know. I was like, I didn't understand what I was getting myself into. So then I remembered, I kept asking Joe, do you think I should do it? And he's like, he's like, yeah. He said, trey, if you want to do it, you do it. He's like, I want no part of it. You know? He's like, you know, he's like, just, you do it. He's like, that's what you want to do. So I was like, you know what? I was home for seven years and I wanted to do something. I wanted to work, and I was like, oh, my God, I get to make my own money. And I was like, you know what?
They're going to just film what we're doing, what we do every day anyway. And Jacqueline said, come on. She's like, let's just do this, you know? And she's like, you know, they're just going to film us what we do every day anyway. So without a lawyer, I signed the contract after eleven and a half months and I gave it to Jacqueline and that's it. She sent it in. And I always get asked the question, like, did you know it was going to be what it, what, what it is now? I'm like, no. I never in a million years thought it was going to be what it is. What, you know, what it is. Today, just a few weeks ago, was mother's Day, and I get a text from my producer that started Rojaswise in New Jersey, Lucilla. And she was like, happy 15 year anniversary. I was like, oh, my God. So that was just a few weeks ago. It was right around. It was, I think, on Mother's Day. Yeah, it was like crazy. And she's like, you guys aired 15 years ago on this day. I was like, wow. So then we get a phone call from Bravo that we're going to celebrate 15 year anniversary with Andy Cohen.
That watch what happens live has been on. So I attended that last night. We were at the standard at the boom boom room. We had an amazing time. It was wonderful. And guess what, guys? I walk in, you know, we take our pictures on the step and repeat and stuff. And then they, you know, I get asked a question, they're like, you know, Theresa, do you know who's been on the most on watch what happens live? And I'm like, no. And I'm like, who? Cause I wanted to know. They're like, you have? And I'm like, oh, my God. I'm like, how many times? They're like, 42 times. I was like, oh, my God. I was like, blown away. I was like, I couldn't believe that I was on 42 times. I remember when I first went on watch what happens. Of course I was so nervous and I thought Andy Cohen hated me. I was like, he hates me. He always asks me the hardest questions and I'm like, he doesn't ask anybody else these questions, but always me. I feel like he drills me, but meanwhile it's like he was doing his job. It's like I didn't get it at first and I didn't understand it.
It took a while for me to understand it cause I was fairly sensitive about it and I was like, I thought that he was just trying to ask me all the hard questions. Meanwhile, that's his job. And I have to say, I have to give props to Andy Cohen's producer. They are amazing to come up with different games and shows every single week. Wow, they blow my mind. Yeah, I remember one time I was on and they did Triosaurus and they made a tree auris about me. And like, all, you know, all the words that I have used, and as a matter of fact, I do have it. I have to add it to my collection over here. So last night, we celebrated 15 year anniversary with Andy Cohen on watch what happens live. It was a great event. Had so much fun. I'm a little hungover today because of it. I was drinking margaritas and they hit me really hard. And then afterwards, we didn't eat. So Louie and I. Louie came with me. Yeah, so Louie came with me. He looked so handsome in a black suit. I wore a silver dress. You could check out my instagram Teresa giudice and see what I wore and all photos that, you know, with, you know, with everyone that I took photos with Andy Cohen and other housewives, some of the housewives couldn't make it that were on.
It was pretty much anybody that was on. Watch what happens live 15 times or more. And a lot of people couldn't make it, other housewives, because they're filming now. So I would have loved to have seen them, but they weren't there. Then afterwards, we went to Milos on the Hudson for dinner. It was delicious. That's one of my favorite restaurants. And, yeah, that was it. I started my podcast turning to tables because I really want to show you guys how real I really am. Like, none of us are actresses on the Real Housewives of New Jersey. We actually show you our real life. Like, I got the other day on June 4, we celebrated my stepson Nicholas's 23rd birthday. Yeah, it was beautiful. We all went out to dinner with Louis ex wife and my daughters. And I ended up meeting Louis ex wife's father. I already met her mother before, and I love her mother. And then I ended up meeting her dad. And they were so lovely. And they just reminded me of my parents. Cause her parents are from Italy also. Yeah, they're beautiful people. By the end of the night, I ended up crying.
I started getting teary eyed. Cause they reminded me of my parents. They were old school Italian. But I heard dad said to me, like, is the show really real? I just started laughing. I was like, babe, you see? I turned to Louie. I was like, there's actually people out there that think that the show's not real. On Real Housewives of New Jersey, everything you see, they're really filming our real life. What you see on the show is actually real. What you see, people put out there, like lies. That's not real. So that's up to you guys to decide from watching the show and the history that you have with all of us, to decide, you know, who's being real and who's not being real, so. And that's why I decided to start turning the tables. Cause I really want you guys to get to know me. Teresa Giudice. I'm as real as they come. I don't know how to be any other way. I only know how to be authentic. You know what I noticed in life? That I used to be really private and not say what was going on in my life. And sometimes, you know, I learned that that's not a good thing.
Because if you are going through some things, sometimes it's good to let somebody close to, you know. Cause they could give you some good advice. This is how I think that whatever's supposed to happen in life, it's just the way it's supposed to happen. I'm like, what should I name my podcast? What should I name my podcast? So I was going through my names, and then I matter of fact, I asked Jennifer. Jennifer Aydan. She's one of my best friends. Love her so much. I was like, I gave her a few names that I liked, and then turning the tables, of course, was one of them. And then she's like, yeah, right away, she's like, I love turning the tables by Teresa Giudice. And you know what she pointed out to me? Cause everyone knows I have this tattoo on the side of. I don't know if everyone knows. But now you guys all know I have a tattoo on the side of me. It says sanity. And Zami means always together. It's on my parents mausoleum. My dad picked that saying because him and my mom were always together. Yeah. And then also underneath it, I have the number 333.
Because when my dad was passing away, I mean, when my dad was in the hospital, I knew he wasn't gonna make it. They told us that he was not gonna make it, but I just needed to hear from my mom. So I spoke to a medium, and a medium told me, she's like, your mom's giving you signs of threes. And I was just like, oh, my God. So I knew my dad was gonna pass away with the three with the number three in it. And my dad passed away April 3. And just to let you guys know the reason why, I put a tattoo of three. Three. Three. Is there a lot of threes throughout my life? You know, good and bad? So my mom passed away March 3. My dad was with us three years after my mom passed away. I met Louie three months after my dad passed away. There's lots of threes in my life. So, as you know. So just. Just to let you know. So that's like, the backstory on that. So then when I told Jennifer, turning the tables, that's the name she loved by Teresa Giudice. She's like, Teresa.
So a lot of people know that threes mean a lot to me. And then she's like, teresa, turning the tables. There's three t's in that. I was like, oh, my God, that's the name. So that's how I came up with the name. Jennifer said that to me, and I was like, oh, my God, that's the name. That's what I'm naming my podcast, turning the tables by Teresa Giudice. And now that we're on the topic of Jennifer, Aidan, I have to say, like, she's one person that really, really understands and knows me. It's like sometimes you think you know a person, but you have to actually hang out with that person, actually spend a lot of time with that person to get to know them. Yeah, it just can't be like you just see that person once in a blue moon. You go out to dinner here or there. No, that's not actually getting to know someone. Like, you actually like going on vacation with someone. Really. You get to know someone, spending quality time. Like, I've been on vacation with Jennifer, like, a few times. So what I noticed with Jennifer, it's, like, so crazy.
It's like I feel like she really, really does know me. Like, some people say that they could finish my sentences. No, but she, you know, because I have my own language and I know a lot of people don't understand. Sometimes my language and sometimes I have to repeat. Sometimes I feel like people don't get me. But so if you don't get me, ask me the question, because sometimes I could explain it to you in a way that'll make you understand it. And you know who I. So what I realized that Jennifer does really know the real, real Teresa. And, like, some people think they know Teresa, you know, from watching the show. No, you don't. You have to actually hang out with me, spend time with me, go on vacation with me. Talk to me, like, every day, and then you'll really get to know the real Theresa. So that's why, by listening to turning the tables by Teresa Giudice, you will get to know me. I want you to ask me questions. I want us to really engage with each other, and we're just gonna have so much fun. And if you really get to know me, I'm all about having fun and being real.
I don't know how to be any other way. Like, you know, I feel like real should be my middle name because. Yeah. Cause, I mean, that's the only way I know how to be. I'm not fake. I'm not phony. What you see is what you get. So, in a nutshell, that's what turning to tables is gonna be like. I'm gonna have fans on the show. I'm gonna have special guests, my daughters, my husband. We're gonna have so much fun. And, yeah, I can't wait. Turning the tables is gonna be amazing. And I want to hear awe inspiring stories from you guys, like, how you've turned the tables in your life. And, like, obviously, I've lived mine right on national tv for the past 15 years, and you guys have seen how I've turned the tables in my life, so. Yeah. And I want to hear your story, because just, like, everyone says that I'm so inspiring. I get that all the time. So thank you so much that, you know, a lot of people, you know, when I have appearances or when they meet me, they're like, oh, my God, you got me through this hard time.
Like, someone said they were going through chemo, and I helped them get through chemo by watching the show, and they were watching, like, what I went through and how I overcame it. And when I hear that touches my heart, I'm like, oh, my God, that's so sweet. Like, because if I could, you know, I feel like God put me on this platform for a reason, and I feel like I am aspiring to people, because, I mean, I know I am really strong as a woman, and, I mean, my second memoir is called standing strong. And if I could help just a few people out there and like to get over something hard that they've gone through, I love that. I want to help anyone out there that I could, because, listen, it's not easy, and some of us are stronger than others, but if I could help you become stronger, I got you. I want to help you and push you right over that and keep you moving forward. Don't take a step back. Always look forward. And remember, it doesn't rain forever. The sun comes out and the sunshine and it's beautiful out. And sometimes we don't understand, like, why is this happening?
It's like, even like, if I'm sad one day or if, I don't know, some days, like before, if I. If I feel like crying that one day it happens for a few minutes and then I'm happy again. So that's why. So you have to always push yourself moving forward and don't let anything take you down. So I just want to say thank you so much for listening. Please rate, review, and subscribe. And I can't wait to continue this journey with you guys. We're gonna have so much fun. Love, love, love you guys.
Hey tell me what they gonna say tell me what they gonna say tell me what they go say go say tell me what they go say tell me what they gonna say tell me what they gonna say tell me what they gonna say tell me what they gonna go to go.
