Transcript of Trump Faces Full Revolt in House as Veto Backfires
The MeidasTouch PodcastDonald, the House of Representatives is revolting against Donald Trump and MAGA Mike Johnson. They engaged in a major act of quiet defiance. It's not getting a lot of attention. It will in this coming week. But on Friday, again, very quietly, the House of Representatives, via a unanimous consent motion, agreed to take up Donald Trump's two veto that he issued recently. The unstated reason why the House of Representatives is taking this up is to override Donald Trump's veto. Let me remind you what Donald Trump vetoed. Let me explain to you what the House is doing. I'll explain to you why MAGA Mike right now is showing a lot of weakness and what we can expect to happen when the House comes back into session, including the fact that there will be a vote in the House of Representatives to extend the Affordable Care Act subsidies for three years, something that MAGA Mike has also tried to avoid. Let me just share with you again. This was very quietly done. It was posted on the House Press Gallery social media account, but it didn't get a lot of reposts. Here's what they wrote on the House Press Gallery account.
The clerk read a veto message from the President regarding the HR 131, Finish the Arkansas Valley Conduit Act, and HR 504, the Mikasuki Reserved Area amendments Act. Then shortly thereafter, the House Press Gallery posted, The Chair asked for unanimous consent to consider veto messages for HR 131 and HR 504 to take place on January eighth, 2026, agreed to without objection. So what's going to take place, what that really means, the House will consider overriding Donald Trump's two vetoes. These were two despicable vetoes by Donald Trump. One has been getting more attention. The one that's been getting more attention is HR 131, Finish the Arkansas Valley Conduit Act. That was the act that was sponsored by Lauren It was a bipartisan bill to provide clean water to at least 50,000 people in Colorado. That Colorado water, based on the environment there, can get very toxic and dangerous. So this would provide clean water, make access to water cheaper. And Donald Trump vetoed it for two main reasons. One, Lauren Boebert, one of the main sponsors, she signed on to the discharge petition to release the Epstein files, and Donald Trump is retaliating against Boebert. Also, Donald Trump is retaliating against Colorado in this in many other ways, because they are refusing to release Tina Peters, a convicted felon who is involved with Donald Trump as essentially a co-conspirator to try to overthrow the results of the 2020 election.
That was one of the acts that Donald Trump vetoed. The other involves the Mikasuki tribe, which has its tribe tribal and ceremonial lands in the Everglades area, where the Trump regime, working alongside DeSantis, ignored the tribal rights, tribal claims, ownership of the land by the Mikasuki tribe tribe, and they built the Alligator Alcatraz concentration camp on the ceremonial grounds of the Micasuki tribe. As Anna Caballo says, in July, the Micasuki tribe sued Florida and the federal government over the hastily built immigrant detention facility in the Everglades, a place the Mikosuki call home. Trump just vetoed funding for a water project for the tribe, supported on a bipartisan basis. In Trump's veto, he cites their opposition to his immigration policies. So he's retaliating against the Mikosuki. He's retaliating against Boebert in Colorado. I mean, these are some dastardly, dastardly acts. Now, Maga Mike Johnson, of course, supports all of Donald Trump's conduct. As Marjorie Taylor-Green recently wrote, The House of Representatives doesn't really have a speaker. She said, Maga Mike is not really the speaker. He's speaker in name only. He just carries out whatever Donald Trump says to do. How was it then that on Friday, very quietly, the House Representatives was able to put on its docket for January eighth, considering the veto messages, and that could mean overriding the vetoes.
Well, what I think went down is Maga Mike is realizing that his speakership is hanging by a thread. When Congress comes back, there's going to be a lot of attention to the cover up of the child sex trafficking ring by the MAGA Republicans and by Donald Trump with the violations of the Epstein Transparency Act. Also, there will be a government shutdown that is set to take place on January 30th. Then you may be going, Ben, didn't we just have a government shutdown, and now you're telling me we're about to run into it again. Yeah, the last government shutdown, the compromise was an extension through January 30th. And guess where we are? Less than 30 days from January January 30th, the Trump government's about to run out of money again. You may be saying, Is this the way it's supposed to go down? No, it's not supposed to go down like this at all. The House is supposed to be competent. They work with the executive branch. They come up with a budget that funds the government, and you don't deal with this stuff. But this Trump regime and these MAGA Republicans are utterly incompetent. So the next shutdown deadline is four weeks from now.
Congress has 12 scheduled days of legislative business this month. Nine of the 12 government funding bills remain unfinished. Just think about that. They only schedule 12 days of work when they come back this month. I think that MAGA Mike just allowed these reconsiderations of the veto, the override of the veto, because he's got to deal with a caucus, these Maga Republicans, who are in full Alt. Also, what do we expect to come before the House as well, as Jamie Dupre explains, along with a bill on shower heads, yes, to amend the Energy Policy and Conservation Act to revise the definition of shower heads. This is one of Maga Mike's main issues, and that's what he's trying to focus his attention on, shower heads. But what else is going to come up? A three-year extension of health insurance subsidies pushed by Democrats via A Discharge Petition. Democrats were able to push that through, get the Discharge Petition signed by MAGA Republicans. Two Trump Veto Overrides, which I just described those Veto Overrides right there, and these nine unfinished government funding bills, and they've got 12 days to do it. So MAGA Mike is overwhelmed right now, and this was able to just slip through.
Now, to override Donald Trump's veto on the Colorado Clean Water and the Mikosuki Clean Water, what needs to happen? A two-thirds vote in the House and a two-thirds vote in the Senate that overrides Donald Trump's veto. And both of those bills, HR504, 4 and HR 504 and HR 131, were passed unanimously. Every single member supported it, but Donald Trump chose to veto it for petty reasons. When the House comes back, here's what we expect to happen. A Credible Care Act subsidies will likely be extended. And is Donald Trump going to veto that? I think the House will pass it. What's the Senate going to do when the House overwhelmingly passes it? Is it going to be like the Epstein Discharge petition where there will be a voice vote of unanimous consent, or will somebody object to it in the Senate? We'll see what happens there. But that's going to pass in the House. Not sure it will pass in the Senate. Then you're going to have overriding the Trump's vetoes. And then you're going to have to deal with these nine unfinished government funding bills. Then we're going to have to deal with the cover up of the Epstein sex trafficking ring by Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans right now.
Now, you have MAGA Republicans like Darryl Issa just running away. Here he is when Manu Raju tried to interview him before Congress went into recess before the holidays, and he just tried to shut the door on Manu Raju. Play this clip.
You can't close the door on me. What are you doing? Are you considering running for a seating Texas? Why won't you answer the question, Mr. Issa?
But when you actually heard from MAGA Republicans, you can hear their anger at Speaker Johnson, like Lawler, MAGA Republican, Lawler, MAGA Republican, Kylie. Here's what they said to Manu Raj. You play this clip.
Where does that lead you? You sound pissed. You sound pissed off. I am pissed for the American people. This is absolute bullshit, and it's absurd that we are in a body with 435 members. Everybody has a responsibility to serve their district, to serve their constituents. What do you say, go to the speaker who's not going to give you a vote on this AC extension? That's a failure of leadership. We have members on both sides who believe this is an urgent issue, and it is for all of our members in terms of what their constituents are going to have to deal with in the start of the new year. So what's wrong with having a vote?
Here's what Republican Don Bacon from Nebraska Asca said to Monu Raju. Play this clip.
All these folks are going to go back home, and you're going to have to look voters in the eye and say, We've done nothing, while their premiers are going up like 2,000 a month. It's not going to happen. The reality is going to hit here. We got to To me, it's just a basic reality. We need a short term extension, and then let's talk about some deeper reforms. The speaker seems dead set against this, though. Because what he's hearing from a lot of folks, Hey, we didn't vote for ACA. We didn't vote for the IRA. This is a Democrat problem, but we're in charge. How bad do you think this will for Republicans if you do not extend these subsidies? I think it will be used like a sludge hammer on us a year from now. The reality will be bad.
Here is what Tom Tillis and others said. Here, play this clip.
Do you think it would make sense for the administration to release this video? I'm okay with it being released, and I'm okay with whatever. We got to release the video. Look, we got to get the Epstein files released. We got to get any videos that do not in any way compromise mission integrity down there. Just get the stuff out there. Would you rather see a different Secretary of Defense? I I just want to say the fact so I can make an informed decision.
Here's what MAGA Republican Brian Fitzpatrick had to say. Here, play this clip.
Well, I say that if you don't have a better plan, then get on board with ours. But doing nothing is not an option, right? I mean, I've heard so many people in the Republican conference rail on the Affordable Care Act, rail on Obamacare, rail on the premium tax credits. If you want to criticize something, that's okay as long as you have a better alternative. They have never offered a better alternative. We went down this healthcare path in my freshman term, I voted against the repeal of the ACA. I thought the replacement was insufficient. It was hastily put together, not well thought out. Here we are, what, eight years later? They still have not been able to put together an articulable plan that's going to work for everyday Americans. Is a premium tax credit structure perfect? No, it's not. I don't like the fact that there's no income caps. I don't like the fact that the money all goes to the insurance company rather than having some go to the individual. But right now, with a cliff upon us at the end of the year, I think we have to extend it out a minimum of two years with guardrails, with income caps.
To remind you, the discharge petition of Epstein wasn't the only discharge petition. There was that. There was also a discharge petition regarding collective bargaining by federal employees after Donald Trump and MAGA tried to block that. There are Then you have Congress setting a hearing or setting a vote to override Trump's vetoes regarding the Mikosuki in Colorado. That's where we're at now. We'll keep you posted every step of the way. But what I like to focus on here at the Midas Touch Network is the news before it becomes news. So you know, I'm prepared for it.
